Tell the Department of Transportation what you think about its hands-off approach to self-driving cars

The Center for Auto Safety is the nation’s premier independent, member driven, non-profit consumer advocacy organization dedicated to improving vehicle safety, quality, and fuel economy on behalf of all drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.

On September 15, 2017, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a second version of federal autonomous vehicle (AV) guidance.  The Center for Auto Safety supports strong federal oversight during the development and deployment of AV technology, in order to protect consumer safety.  However, NHTSA’s most recent guidance falls well short of our expectations, allowing AV manufacturers ultimate control over the safety of Americans.
