Chrysler decision bodes well for GM claimants

The Supreme Court’s decision Monday not to review Chrysler’s bankruptcy may turn out to help GM product liability claimants who were left in the lurch.

The justices on Monday turned down an appeal from the state of Indiana pension funds that earlier challenged the automaker’s bankruptcy proceedings. Most of Chrysler’s assets were sold to Italian automaker Fiat.

Vehicle Fuel Efficiency up in 2008 Model Year

…The Obama administration has pressed for tougher fuel efficiency requirements and proposed a 40 percent increase by 2016. Environmentalists said the EPA data showed the need for stiff requirements, noting that $4 gasoline prices in 2008 failed to dramatically boost fuel efficiency.
