(Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2012-2016 Eos, 2012 Passat, 2012-2016 CC, 2015-2016 e-Golf, 2011-2015 Touareg, 2012-2015 and 2017 Tiguan, and 2011-2016 Golf and 2011-2013 GTI vehicles. Modifications made while the vehicles were in an internal evaluation period may cause the affected vehicles to not comply with all of the applicable regulatory requirements. Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles to make them fully compliant or Volkswagen will repurchase them if necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 29, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298.
2016-03-24	SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGES	Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Touareg vehicles. The brake pedal pivot pin may be missing a securing clip, allowing the pivot pin to move and the brake pedal to dislodge. Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake pedal assembly to verify the presence of the securing clip and install any missing securing clips, free of charge. The recall began on April 27, 2016. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 46G4.

I purchased a new VW Toureg in June 2012 with 15 miles on it from a dealer in Alabama. I registered the vehicle in my state of residence in GA and drove the car to Washington DC on 4 the July 2012. The vehicle has loud rattling noise form the under carriage. I took it into the VW dealership in Alexandria, VA on 9th July 2012. They inspected the vehicle and confirmed the noise. They worked on it for 3 days and came to the conclusion that they could not find a fix. They said they called VW service and were told that were 5 reported cases pending with VW but they had no solution. They also stated the there could be problem with a supplier of a brake component because removing a shim (which was an essential component for preventing the noise and rattle from the brakes) was defective and was being addressed. I called VW customer care and they denied any report of having multiple cars with this problem and said that the dealership was not correct in their statement. I called the dealership back and was told that they were sure that VW service had confirmed that there was an issue that was being addressed but no solution was found yet. On 20th The dealership called me and asked me to pick up the vehicle and return their loaner as they thought this was not a safety issue and I could continue driving the car until the fix was found and to drive it back to GA. I called the VW Customer care and this time they confirmed that they had multiple cars reporting this problem but it was not a safety issue even though the brakes were involved and they were trying to find a fix. On 24th after several calls both the dealer service department and Customer care confirmed that the solution proposed was to spray a layer of silicone on the back side of the brake pads to prevent the noise. I said that this was only a temporary solution as the silicon would wear in time and the noise would return. I demanded a swap of the vehicle and they denied it but were willing to provide some monetary compensation. On 26 th silicon spray was applied and I am yet to get a call from the VW dealer if this removed the noise.
I believe that VW manufacturing and engineering are aware of a defective part in the barks assemble but are sweeping it under the carpet. I also think that their fix of spraying silicone on the back side of the brake pads is a poor substitute and eye wash to temporarily get rid of the problem lest lemon laws apply. Having purchased the car with just 15 miles on it the question is how it passed inspection when the noise is so loud. In response to this question I was told by VW service that either other customers were driving on highways and good roads and had not yet observed it or are yet to report it.
I have also not seen any recall (which is what VW should have done the moment they found a defective brake part).
