this is the 3rd time my headlights have failed to operate without cause. The headlights flicker and then stop working. restarting the car multiple times and switching from auto to manual \\\"on\\\" has no affect. The headlights have return to operational mode after the car sits off for hours or a day and then may run for days or weeks until problem returns without know cause.

Soon after purchasing the minivan, the headlights began to cut out intermittently. At first, it was only during the summer when the weather was very warm and humid. In addition, we found that if we started the minivan and lights worked they would stay on throughout our drive but that soon changed…the lights cut out on us one night after driving for about a half an hour. This was extremely dangerous because we were on the highway and it was very dark. We tried to bring this issue up to our dealership and they claimed that our car did not have this problem. Now, our minivan lights do not work at all…they flicker or flash three times like they are trying to come on but never actually turn on.

I have not attempted to bring it in to be repaired but it shares symptoms with a broken TIPM. It won\'t start my lights flicker (3 times) and now I can\'t get any power to anything. Chrysler needs to be held accountable for a such an expensive problem inherent to this device. I have seen a lot of other owners with the same problem online.

I have noticed little things and big things have started happening with my 2010 Chrysler Town and Country. A few weeks ago, I heard a crackling noise in the dash that sounded like a short of some sort. Several times and intermittently, I have had the UConnect system, including my backup camera, fail to work. Over the last few weeks, my headlights have randomly turned off while driving at night. We replaced the switch, thinking perhaps that was the problem. It still happened. I also noticed yesterday that when I opened my daughter\'s sliding door with my fob, my door did not unlock as it usually does. I had to unlock it with the button. While most of this is just annoying little things, the headlights flickering and turning off randomly is greatly concerning.

Random stalling while driving and also while in park idling. Different systems are effected. speedometer cuts out then a ding and it comes back. Also the indicators that tell you a car is next to you stay on. The information center stops working. AC stops blowing then comes back. Radio does the same. When it stalls sometimes you have no power as if the battery has been disconnected. Then power comes back after while and you can start the van. The transmission sometimes will not shift. The charging system light, traction control light, ABS light come on and the millage flickers dimly. A lot of strange things happening. The Chrysler dealer has replace the alternator saying it was causing high voltage. Did not fix the problem. Next they replaced the ABS module saying it was shorting out. Did not fix the problem. I am bring it back to them. I suspect that the TIPM is the issue. I am a retired ASE certified Technician in Engine performance, Steering and Suspension, Breaks and Electrical.

The car will not start at didferent times. We are able to drive the car with no issues and then all of a sudden it will stop working. We have taken it to several mechanics they have tested the battery they tested the alternator and they tested the starter and all are within the correct ranges that they should be. Looking online I see that this is an ongoing issue with Chrysler for the TIPM system and there is a lawsuit going on

On multiple occasions, at low speeds (5-10 mph) and at 30-40 mph, the engine has suddenly stalled while driving. These events happen at random, seemingly when the car is still relatively cold. Taken into the dealership and an independent mechanic and neither were able to replicate the situation, thus providing no diagnosis and no fix to the issue.

Was pulling my vehicle out of a parking lot when the vehicle suddenly accelerated with my foot on the brake. I managed to get e car back under control with no further incident. That same night, I began having issues with the headlights. They would turn on for a second, and then shut off. Brake and running lights were not effected. I would toggle the light switch back and forth and eventually come on. After a while, the headlights would just shut off while driving. Now the headlights do not turn on at all. Thankfully, my car has fog lamps which I use during evening hours,, driving home from work. My work is only 10 minutes from home on well lit roadways. I don’t dare attempt driving any long distances or on highways during nighttime hours. A few days after the issue with the headlights, my radio would shut down for no reason. I noticed a clicking noise coming from somewhere that sounds like wires shorting out. I also noticed that while losing power to the radio, that the air conditioning would also not work, and I would lose power to the power windows. I also lost the lighting fir the power window and power door lock lights on the door.

Was recently advised by my mechanic that the TIPM system needed replacement. I had taken the car in for a diagnostic check after the headlights failed to light — even after fuses checked out, light bulbs were replaced, and new light switch was installed. They advised that the TIPM had an error message; while the headlights came back on after resetting the error message, they were unsure how long the fix would last an recommended replacement of the module. We have been quoted charges of $1500 for the fix (yet to be completed).
Previously, we had a radio problem. The radio died while we were driving, after a notable “pop” sound (electrical short?) The radio continued to drain the battery, resulting in several “dead battery” incidents. A replacement radio cost (diagnostics) cost us about $600. We believe that the radio issue may have been caused by the same faulty TIPM.

We have had this issue happen several times over the past 2 years. We took it to our only local Chrystler dealership who is anything but mechanical. Said nothing is wrong. Well, a “plug-in” diagnostic tool won’t find bad solder joints. We then took it to a local mechanic who couldn’t find anything either. I have replaced the battery 3 times in 2 years. It comes and goes but seems to be getting worse. It happened to my wife yesterday and I did a ton of research and found where the dash cluster was replaced and that individual hasn’t seen the issue for 5000 miles. Others have pin pointed it to the TIPM. I did a search for TIPM and WOW…a class action law suit. Go figure!! I have called Chrystler LLC 3 times in the past 2 days and asked to speak with someone in Supervision or Corporate. Finally received a call back about 2 hours ago only to be informed they have never heard of this issue and there is no recall. The woman on the phone said I needed to take it in and have it looked at. I laughed at her and said you want me to allow my wife and kids to drive in an unsafe vehicle that you know has defective parts? I then informed her I would be filing a case against Chrystler and she can put that in her notes.

The headlights on my Town & Country suddenly failed as I was driving down a rural highway at night with my family. I was able to make it home & sporadically experienced the problem over a period of severa months. In early June 2015 I had the vehicle taken to my loca dealership to have a recall fixed & had them check the headlight issue. I was then told it was the TIPM and would cost over $1000 to fix the problem. At this point the issue has not been resolved, however we are limited to using the vehicle during the day only until we can save the money to have it fixed.

As one day driving, I come to a red light I stop as soon as the light turned green I proceeded to accelerate with much problem it struggled to move then a split second latter just passed the green light the vehicle proceeded to smoke everywhere, I pulled oved turned the vehicle off pulled the hood release smoke everywhere I did not see anything squirting out so I proceeded to open the hood then I got a surprise hot antifreeze in my face and all over the place, I immediately closed the hood to reduce injury, at this time I was lucky to have towels in my car to clean my face, latter on that day I developed water blisters on my face from the hot antifreeze. I called the dealer to find out about this problem they said yes they are aware of it and the cost can be from 300- to 600. I asked if it was under warranty they said no also no recalls, nor any TSB’s on this issue, I did much research on line to find out millions, yes millions had this same problem, this can kill someone, cause the motor to burn up, cause electric fire, or electrical short. I was able to get the vehicle home with a friend, and complete a repair myself, costing me around $100.00 compared to the dealer price. This deserves for a recall, and or legal action, it seems the heater hose is connected to a plastic tee that is defective and cracks in the seem

Appears Related to NHTSA Action Number: DP14004
Problem: Sudden Unintended and Uncontrolled Acceleration
My NHTSA Complaint: ODI Number: 10662678 filed on 12/7/14
I am taking to a Chrysler dealer tomorrow (12/8/14).
Sudden unintended acceleration of our 2010 Chrysler Town and Country Touring was experienced on 2 occasions (8/2/14 and 12/5/14) nearly resulting in a serious accident on each occurrence. Both incidents occurred under similar circumstances. While traveling on a freeway @ approximately 65 mph bearing left (either to change lanes or on a curve ) and accelerating, the accelerator pedal drops to the floor with uncontrolled full throttle acceleration. Braking did not stop the acceleration and emergency evasive maneuvers were required to avoid serious accidents on both occasions. Shifting in and out of neutral several times was performed and eventually the accelerator returned to normal operation. I am unsure what caused the unintended acceleration to stop.
Key Information Identical during both incidents:
1. Engine oil was changed within days of each incident. Oil change reminder counter was reset using manufacturer reset procedure.
2. Left Turn signal was engaged.
3. Traveling at approximately 65 mph when beginning acceleration (transmission downshifted).
4. Throttle position was approximately 30-40% throttle to accelerate to pass or get up to speed after a curved freeway entrance ramp.
5. Vehicle had been driven for approximately 25 minutes prior to sudden acceleration on each occurrence (however in two completely separate locations).
6. This occurred on 2 occasions with 2 different drivers.
7. Both incidents occurred while on a freeway.
8. Duration of incidents: approximately 10-20 seconds.
This appears to be a software bug (I am an IT professional and Electrical Engineer by degree).
My family could have been seriously injured or killed as well as others around us. This needs to be fixed immediately for the safety of my family and the general public.

On Thursday, November 13, as my wife was attempting to park our 2010 Town & Country in the parking space at our home, the engine suddenly went to full speed and the steering wheel was yanked out of her hands to the left. She had her foot on the brake pedal in anticipation of stopping within ten feet. The van struck our garage door and the brick facing of the duplex where we live. she had been operating the vehicle at a walking speed or less, due to children playing in the drive. Her foot did not come off the brake pedal, nor did it hit the accelerator. The airbags did not deploy, and she apparently suffered a slight injury caused by the seat belt. After a considerable amount of research, I have come to the conclusion that the most likely cause was a failure of the Totally Integrated Power Module (PITM) which has been the cause of at least 20 deaths and over 240 consumer complaints. So far, the Chrysler dealer repairing the van estimates $7,500, which could go as high as $18,000. I found out a bad TIPM can cost $2,500 to replace.

The vehicle stops on its own. The first time it stopped on me,it restarted 25 minutes later. The second time it stopped I had it towed to the dealership. It restarted on its own 4 days later. The dealer kept the vehicle for 5 weeks and were unable to repair it.The vehicle was returned to me without being repaired..I was told to drive the vehicle until it stops again and have it towed back to the dealer.
The problem is that this vehicle could stop on me on the interstate or while I’m out of state, creating crash safety concerns.I try not to go too far away from home for fear of being stranded.
Chrysler Consumer Relations has deterred me at every corner.

Since approximately May 2011, I have addressed my concern about the problems with my 2010 Chrysler Town and Country vehicle to numerous dealerships in my area. I have not found any relief and I am mentally and physically frustrated because I considered this company a safe haven when it came down to care and respect for consumers. I want to know why this problem isn’t considered to be a recall item for this particular vehicle. My van stalls whenever I push the accelerator and after braking in traffic as well as slowing down to stop at at stop light. I do expect a response and I do deserve some results being that I have 4 children who deserve more safety as I do. No one wants there children to be hurt in an accident that could of been avoided when I have asked for help for about 14 months now.
