2007 SUZUKI Grand Vitara

Air bags on the front passengers side will not deploy as per the indicator light on the dash board when my wife uses a medically-required seat cushion. the local dealership and american suzuki have refused to alter the settings on the seat sensor to make the activated at all times. no one other than myself and my wife sit in this seat; no children have ever or will ever be seated in the front passenger seat. *tr

I bought my 07 suzuki grand vitara in 2008. since i have owned this vehicle i have had to replace the low beam headlights about every 3-4 months. the lights even after being replaced will flicker and turn off. i have to open the hood and wiggle the light to come back on. the connectors on the headlights have become overheated and mealted. once while driving i smelled smoke, after opening the hood i realized it was the headlight. i have been pulled over several times because my headlight(s) have turned off while driving. i have had to drive multiple times with the high beams. also the low beam headlights are so dim i can barely see a yard infront of my vehicle while driving. these are all serious safety hazards and even life threatening if the headlights were to catch fire.

The head lights keep blowing out, especially the left front. i find myself changing this bulb every 3-5 months. now the high beams do not turn on from the forward position at the steering wheel, they will work when the arm is pulled back with the high beam light indicating they are working, not the same in the forward position. i have checked the fuses and bulb. i am tired of these problems and it is a definite safety hazard. suzuki should get on board to fix these reoccurring problems for every owner. but since suzuki no longer exists in the united states, it will be up to nhtsa.

12/31/15 -- outside temp approx 8 deg f, vehicle defroster failed to actuate, windshield froze over internally worse & worse, finally resorted to use ice scraper on inside of windshield while driver continued on state hwy. heated air was coming out dash vents, floor, but not a whiff from defroster. was on the way to a hospital, kept driving til about 12 miles along suddenly defroster vents actuated, blowing heated air like crazy. but had i not been along, spouse would have been hard-pressed to safely pull off or get to surgery appointment. since heat was blowing out of other vents, indicates actuator fault. problem not diagnosed, not sure if temp.-related or intermittent fault. in snowstorm or at night could have become really serious event (recently purchased used, not sure of history) 124000 miles

My lights are always going out its hard to see at night when they are on and i considered very dangerous and went dealer where i bought it and they tell me they can't fix it just keep changing lights when they go out not good

I have received a recall notice for my vehicle. the suzuki dealership (facility) in my town has been closed. the recall scheduling contact (twice) has refered me to an out of town (toyota) dealership in naples, florida. of course, suzuki in no longer sold in the us. the drive distance would prevent me from leaving my vehicle without unnecessary added time and inconvenience. i requested a local more convenient dealership to do the repair, but have been refused. what is the policy on recalls for this situation? i would like to have the repair done in a fort myers dealer.

The headlights burn out about every 4 months. this is a very expensive problem. *js

I have two issues, and have had these issues since buying the car about 3 years ago,when running the car cold the brakes do not depress the first time i brake, it takes alot of force to get the car to stop, if it is warmed up for 15 min or so it will not have the issue, but figures it should be addressed. my other issue is the headlights, they burn out constantly, i change then ever 2 or so months alternating between drivers side and passanger side. *tr

I had received a safety recall notice for replace the part num. 85107-80j10-bfk at 08/13/14 and try a multiples times contact my nearest dealer i san antonio, tx. The head lights keep going off every 4 to 6 months. there's been numerous complaints from other owners on repairpal.com about the same thing and suzuki has not wanted to recognize that there is a problem. this is partially what they have posted "we understand the concerns you have raised in your message and we want to inform you that there is no known issues with the headlight assembly". yet everyone's complaints about the headlights going off every 4 to 6 months is a fact. i tried replacing the entire head light assembly before i knew there is actually a problem with it and it's still doing it months later. it's getting very expensive for everyone and myself to be replacing headlight bulbs every couple of months that should be lasting years. *tr

Vehicle sitting in drive. started vehicle put in reverse and backed out of drive. put vehicle in drive and it went dead but was rolling...no control,power steering out no brakes.. let vehicle roll to end of street and pressed harder on brakes and it stopped. put vehicle in park..turned off switch...attempted to start again and put the vehicle in drive and the engine stopped running again. turned the air off and restarted the engine and put in drive and it ran but the gas pedal was more sensitive than usual got to the house and put in park and put on e-brake. waited for a couple of hours and started the engine and tried to release parking brake but it would not release. turned the air on with car running and it died again without shifting into drive. restarted the car and put in reverse to see if it would die again and the car tried to die so i put in park and cut the engine off and parking brake would still not release. *tr

I see that you have recalls on some vehicles for the daytime headlights over heating. it is also happening on the 07 suzuki grand vitara. i have to replace my headlights at least once a year from the over heating issue and it also has a rubber burning smell. if my vehicle is recalled how do i go about getting it fixed if i havent even got called for even the past recalls on my vehicle like the airbag reccall... please inform me on how to do so.

I have replaced the headlamp bulbs 17 times on the vehicle mentioned above the each time they would stop working. found out there is nothing wrong with the bulbs there is an abnormal operation of the low beam headlamps and the daytime running lamps. they flickered constantly and stopped working one night as my son was driving home from college. he could have been killed!!! we have had the vehicle serviced several times and each mechanic stated there should be a recall. many people with the same vehicle have posted the same complaint on the internet and i think there should an immediate recall. we cannot drive the vehicle because the lights continue to stop beaming randomly. there is a suzuki safety recall for this issue on the 2004-2008 forenza and reno and there should be one issued on the grand vitara as well. *tr

Low beam headlight bulbs (h7) fail every other month. i've spent about 150-200 us dollars every year on headlight bulbs since i bought the car new in 2007. wiring harness for h7 bulb show signs of excessive heat (melting and burn marks) on plastic and metal parts. i've always used nitrile gloves, paper towels, and bulb grease (di-electric) to install bulbs and wiring harness. despite all the precautions working with these bulbs they always fail within 3 or 4 months. the concern is safety and preventing an accident due to defective parts.

The bulbs in my headlamps constantly need replacing. i have replaced them on average twice a year since i purchased the vehicle, which has increased in frequency the last two years to 5 month intervals. i have a standing relationship with my electrician/mechanic, who almost knows me on a first name basis. he never finds anything wrong, in terms of a short in the wires.....just continues to change the bulbs and pocket my money. this last time both bulbs blew out within a week of one another. there was one instance when i was unaware that a bulb had blown and incurred a "fix it" ticket. there should definitely be a recall for this issue, as i suspect there is either a short or outright flaw in the electrical system. *tr

I have been having issues with my low beam headlight not working. i have had to replaced the light bulbs every 3-4 months for the past year. the first couple of times i was told the person installing the light bulbs were not doing it properly and that was the issue. recently, i have been advised that the adapter is the issue and because it has the electric wires connected to it i have to pay for electrical work. to save money i thought i could buy the part myself but, after going to 4 different auto stores who did not have the part i was forced to come online. this is when i discovered that i'm not the only one with this issue. i think suzuki should place a recall on this issue. *tr

The low beam headlights in our suzuki grand vitara went out completely. i have had problems before with a single bulb burning out which i replaced. they are burning out much more rapidly now and becoming a constant problem of having to replace the low beam headlights. now, both low beam headlights stopped working the other day as we were driving back at night which forced me to use my high beam headlights to get home safely. i have researched online and have seen that this is a common problem many suzuki owners are having but suzuki is refusing to acknowledge it and put out a recall on the issue. *tr

My headlight has blown out 3 times within 6 months. i have replaced them but now i tried to replace my headlight and it won't work, my headlight doesn't even come on. i am thinking its the wiring and i looked online and i seen that multiple people have had this same problem. it is crazy because i shouldn't have to replace my headlight that many times in a year. i contacted suzuki and they said they can't help me without making me pay the amount, i shouldn't have to pay for this parts and labor when they are aware of this problem because they said they have heard that before. *jb

On october 2010, our vehicle turner on the airbag signal. it was determined that the passenger seat sensor was faulty. the part was out of warranty thus having to pay $1700 for the part and $107 for the installation. early this year i am getting the same alarm again in an intermittent fashion. now looking in the internet i found that this is a faulty part due to manufacturing errors. this is a frustrating issue. and now seems that nothing can be done. why doesn't the japan corporation is liable for this. now i have to risk the life of my family because i cannot afford to pay the same amount again for a factory faulty part. *tr

Hello,, i have a problem with my tires,i bought a brand new 2007 suzuki grand vitara in 2007,i have only 26,000 miles on it, i bought it to the dealer to get a oil change.they told me i am going to need new tires in the next 3,000 miles. they came with yokohama geolander g92 tires, i called yokohama tires about six times they kept on telling me that the tires that come with this suv don't have a warranty, they told me to go to a yokohama dealer were i live, so i went over there they told me the same thing.i pulled up on google, other people that bought similar suv's in 2000 7/2008, had the same issues, and a lot of them had blowouts while they were driving there suv's.once i read them all. i made copies of the all to show you,i called yokohama tires again i told them that if i get a blowout, and get into a accident and me or my family get hurt or worse that i am going to sue them. i would like to know how the united states of america lets companies like yokohama sell products to us, and they don't care about our safety at all, i think that yokohama tire company should be banned from selling tires to the usa, i have been a firefighter for the past ten years, there is a very big safety issue that needs to be addressed, all i want is to be refunded the amount that four new tires would cost me,and that yokohama should not be selling tires in the usa, they are very unsafe tires to be on our cars, yokohama doesn't care about the safety all the people in this country, they just care about all the money they make, can you please contact me if you have any questions about this issue, thank you very much. *tr

The air bag sensor in my suzuki grand vitara 2007 does not register when an adult sits in the seat. the passenger airbag turns itself off. having takin the car to the dealer and was informed in order to fix i would have pay over 2,000 dollars to have the passenger seat replaced. now a few months later, the passenger seat belt light stays on whenever anyone sits in the front seat as well as the air bag light on the dash even though the seat belt is buckled in.. this is a common problem with suzuki grand vitaras. they refused to cover the seat and sensor under warranty when the problem first occurred and i do not have the 2,000 to replace the seat so i have had to deal with it... had to learn how to adjust my self in the seat so that sensor would work properly but now it seems the seatbelt system is also failing. i think suzuki should have to recall these vehicles and fix this safety issue. i found 100s of complaints online for the same exact problem. now i can't even sell or trade in my vehicle because of this problem due to safety issues unless i pay the 2,000 to have the seat replaced.. now i fear my airbags and or seatbelt may not work in the event of an accident.. why is suzuki not being held responsible for this design flaw. this is not the fault of the consumers and suzuki should have to pay for repairs via a recall.. *tr

Several years ago, the warning/reminder lights for the passenger seat belt and airbag came on and would not go off. i call the dealer and ask about any recalls, i was told that there were no recalls for this specific problem and i would have to pay to have the car diagnosed and repaired. last year, i had my car service at jack phelan suzuki in countryside, il and inquired about it again. i was told the same thing; i would be responsible for the repair. i recently received notification from suzuki about the same problem and they would repair at no cost to me, provided that the vehicle is less than 10 years old or less than 120,000 miles. my car has 155,00 miles. i called and asked if they would make an exception and was told no. i reported this problem and they were well aware of this problem and now are refusing to fix it. i think they should repair it, as they have known about this issue from other owners besides myself. i don't know where else to go to for help and would really appreciate some assistance with this. *tr

The passenger seat weight sensor indicates no weight in the seat and the yellow light on the console is on. a passenger can be in the seat with the seat belt buckled and the light indicates the passenger air bag is off. it also indicates on the dashboard with a red light that all the air bags are disabled. i have researched this on the internet and this is also common on the 2006 model also. it is happening to many 2006 and 2007 grand vitara suzuki vehicles. it is a common problem for these vehicles and is a safety hazard. suzuki wants over 1600.00- 2000.00 dollars to repair the problem. they informed me the warranty has expired after 36 months or 36000 miles. the parts to fix this problem is a dealer stock item only. will it take many deaths for suzuki to recall this and fix the problem. we need the help of the nhtsa because suzuki will not take the responsibility nor admit that this a design fault for these vehicles. i am sure you have many reports of this issue and we the owners of these vehicles need relief. we cannot trade in these vehicles without having the expensive repairs made. while trying to trade in my vehicle the first question was is the air bag lights on in the dash and on the console. if the dealerships are aware of the problem and want the repairs done suzuki knows there is a flaw in the seat weight modules, please help the many owners of these vehicles. i am the original owner of this vehicle and only have 37000 miles on my car. will it take an injury, crash or fire to force suzuki to recall this problem. i am afraid to drive this vehicle and only do so to go shopping or doctor appointments. i am disabled and cannot afford 1600-2000 dollars to repair something that suzuki knows is a problem with all of these vehicles. *tr

Started car and air bag light first blinked like it was suppose to and went off. went to put car in gear and notice the light was on again and this time it did not go out. then a few minutes later i notice the passenger side seat belt light was on also and no one was present in that seat. on research on the internet i have learned this is a major problems with suzuki owners of different models. a lot of vehicles with less miles then my vehicle, i can not get my car inspected or even trade it in with the light on and told it could cost me up to $1400.00 to fix. of course suzuki does not care this has become a money maker for them. there has to be a defect in the air bag system they placed in the vehicles for so many people to be having the same problem. of course the biggest problem is now the air bag are not going to work in a crash. please check into this for all us suzuki owners who are trapped.. i understand the sensor for the air bags are in the seat.

Low beam headlamps keep blowing every 2 months or so, bulb brand does not seem to effect longevity. it is extremely dangerous when the bulbs blow and you live out in the county where it's pitch black at night!!! and then have to switch to high beams and blind other drivers!!! just to get to a safe place to replace the bulbs. will never own another suzuki again and can't wait to afford to trade this death trap off!!!!!!!!!!!!! suzuki dealer says "it is normal" *tt

Told suzuki that brakes where no good they said that they seemed fine a week before. the car also would set the cruise control to engage at 0mph and go to 40rpm when i took my foot off brake. the dealer saw no problem. i was going into my driveway at 1mile per hour when the brakes entirely failed. *tr

After noticing that the airbag light which monitors inflators, crash sensors, seat belt pretension, the front passenger sensing system, and corresponding electrical circuits stayed on after starting the car, i took it to the suzuki dealer. after they inspected it, they told me that the problem was a sensor in the driver seat. he told me me that the sensor was inside the drivers seat and that the drivers seat with the sensor inside would cost $1,984.42 plus labor. i contacted the suzuki main offices in brea, ca who offered to replace the whole assembly at a cost to me for a total of $300. i don't think i should pay for that since it is a manufacturer's defect and the differences in price between the dealer and the manufacturer means that they own the responsibility. i am now driving with the sensor light on and the airbag may or may not deploy because of this. 06/

Passenger air bag sensor in seat is defective. the air bag off light comes on when someone is sitting in the seat, took the car to suzuki dealer and they tell me it is not covered under warranty and will be $2500 to replace the whole passengers seat at my expense of course.. this is dangerous as the air bag will not deploy on passenger side if in accident.. i have only owned this car for 5 months. i feel suzuki should have to recall these sensors as i am reading online alot of complaints about the same issue, in all suzuki vehicles.. *tr

Own a suzuki grand vitara 2007, in november 2008 the airbag passenger seat sensor fail, suzuki replaced it, on 2009 december it fail again they replaced it, on 2010 it fail again this time they told me the warranty has expire, they ask me for $1000.00 for it. i been searching the internet and this is a common problem that is happening to 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and think 2010 suv. i think this is a malfunction of the part or other electrical issue. this could lead to airbag malfunction in a crash or unexpected airbag deployment, resulting in injury to the passenger. they have to fix this at no cost. *tr

Noise from the driver side wheel when applying brakes. brake inspection reviled loose wheel bearing. bearing was replaced by dealer, covered by warranty. vehicle has only 30000. this is second wheel bearing failure on the same vehicle. see odi number 10315503 for rear wheel bearing failure. *tr

Vehicle feels unstable, tends to wobble from side to side. suspected tires issue. tire center technician discovered that the rear driver side wheel hub is loose and has a huge play and recommended take the vehicle to a suzuki service center. *tr

Just placed new tires on my car as the rear rt., was wearing badly on the outside. 23000 miles on 2007. suzuki mckinney, stated they were aware that this happens, and they no longer had equipment to do alignments. had another shop align, and they could not get the car within recommended specs. spoke to suzuki, and manager that was aware of problems, no longer works there, new acting manager has never heard of problem. in internet searches, appears that it is rampant with the 2006-2007 models, which appears to be mechanical. *tr

I have yokohama on my grand vitara that roars while driving ,had them checked found out, it was not only the tires but the struts and shocks, nobody wants to pay for repairs truck is 2007 grand vitara with less than 36,000 miles ,i'm getting the run around, they are passing the blame!

On 15 sep 2008, my wife was driving her 2007 suzuki grand vitara, i was in the passenger seat, and our 2 small children were in the rear. a driver in a ford pickup ran a red light and t-boned us on the drivers side, near the rear door & rear wheel well, near where the air bag sensor is, at appr 30-35 mph. none of the side air bags deployed. *tr

Excessive rear tire wear at 15,000 miles, has 19,000 miles on it now and the rear right tire is bald. called southwest suzuki and spoke to mr. doyle. claims its my fault for not rotating tires. front tires are ok. this is a bogus copout. there is a problem with the car or alignment causing the tire wear because this car is not able to roast the tires with the esp system. suzuki needs to fix this, i can not justify buying tires every 15,000 miles . *tr

Two more problems with my vehicle, gear shift sticking and unable to shift without jamming it into the correct gear. two, the air conditioning has a foul odor when you turn the vehicle on all the time. i have taken my vehicle in for both problems. the gear shift first off will pop out of place if hit even in park or when the car in not running and it sticks and has to be jammed into place, i have taken it in and was told could not duplicate problem-never fixed. the air conditioning stinks badly, the odor is offensive, smells like a porta potty or something dead! i have taken it in 2 x for this. they put lysol in the coils and told me it was fixed both times. the second time i was told to spray lysol or bleach in the ledge at the top. this does not help and i still have the problem! *tr

I have a 2007 grand vitara, it had yokohama geolander g92 255/70 r16 tires. the back tires wore out by 13000 miles. i went to the dealer and they stated i was over inflating the tires. the problems is that the tsp light kept coming on so i would put air in them and it would go off. i had a warranty on these tires but no one would honor it because i was told i put to much air in my tires. i argued with them stating that the tsp light kept coming on. even the front tires have worn significantly and has some buldging and i never put air in those ones. i ended up buying 2 new tires, not yokohama! even after i changed the tires the tsp light kept coming on and my car was in the shop 3 times after for the same, tsp light coming on. *tr

Vibration in rear started soon after i purchased car. i had it in for service 4 times since february 2007 and they fixed the rear balanced the drive shaft and put new tires on,but the vibration is still there. as you go 45 mph and then go faster you can hear the noise louder. after they put the new tires on they said the problem was ok and all they heard was road noise. when i road tested the car i heard the noise again. i've had the car in for service 4 times for the same problem. *tr

Air bags on the front passengers side will not deploy as per the indicator light on the dash board when my wife uses a medically-required seat cushion. the local dealership and american suzuki have refused to alter the settings on the seat sensor to make the activated at all times. no one other than myself and my wife sit in this seat; no children have ever or will ever be seated in the front passenger seat. *tr

While under power after shifting through the automatic gears, i have a vibration between 2-3 thousand rpm. the warmer it is, the harder it vibrates. dealer has tried everything suzuki has recommended but it hasn't helped. they also have another one doing the same thing. how can i find out how to fix this problem? are there others having the same trouble?????? *tr
