The car stalled after being filled with gas. Repeatedly. Ultimately gas tank had to be replaced. Well documented problem with Chrysler products. Thirty five complaints for the exact issue on NHSTA website for this vehicle. No communication from manufacturer warning owners – repair very expensive and not a result of normal wear – a design flaw in the tank itself. Hoping to file a petition with NHSTA for recall review.

Tipm module causes driver side headlight and turn signals to not work intermittent. Also when headlight goes out this vehicle cannot be reset with computer to get headlight to work even with new headlight bulb.

Leaking sunroof, water leaks through the dome lights and down onto the console. Dome lights have stopped working and is causing electrical problems. I have take this Jeep every year to have repaired during rainy season and they have never been able to fix this.

I bought my 2007 Jeep Patriot the end of May of 2007 and it started leaking from the dome light the first rain we had…a week after I bought it. I brought it to the dealer several times at first to get it fixed since the leaking kept recurring and it was covered by warranty. The tubing end was crushed and twisted was the first diagnosis. I lost faith in having the problem fixed. I dealt with the leaking dome light but now other issues have added to the disappointment. Water not only pours out of the dome light but leaks into spare tire, carpet in back seat area, on my shoulder from plastic border around sunroof, and little squares of plastic on bars on both sides of windshield which cover attachment pieces. I had to buy a steam cleaner to both extract water from carpet and spare tire space and also clean the carpet. I just brought my Jeep in this week to address all the leaking issues. They replaced a seal around my 3rd brake light. Just drove my car after a bunch of rain last night and water poured from the dome light, dripped on my shoulder, and some is in the spare tire area. The carpet was dry this time. I will have to bring my car in again next week. I imagine they will tell me I need a new sunroof which I am not confident will fix the issue. The sunroof was new when I bought it and it leaked so why should I replace it only to probably have more leaking and more in debt. I don’t have a covered area to store my car nor should I have to do so. I have replied to Jeep’s request for input on my Jeep and service but feel like it is a waste of my time. I think everyone at the dealer is trained to respond to my disappointment of water leaks with a comment such as, “yeah, sunroofs are notorious for water leak issues.” REALLY! So we don’t have the technology down by this point to install sunroofs that function properly yet dealers are selling brand new cars with them anyways. It is one thing to have water leaking due to a sunroof once a car is a reasonable number of years old but not when you drive them off the lot brand new. I guess I can either trade in my car to them and buy some other car somewhere else or find a nice tarp to throw over my car when I am not driving. I will always be driving with a big towel in my car so I can drive and dry which by the way is very distracting to do when driving. I just hope I am not mistaken for a drunk driver since dealing with water pouring all over as I drive makes me swerve a bit. Just saying….safety issue too!

Routine oil change and then told I needed 1100.00 worth of repairs and new tires…56,000 miles on vehicle,never been offroading and apparently I need brake repair and ball joint repair…With all the ball joint issues owners are having, JEEP should be stepping up to this problem.

On Sunday, July 13, 2008, my daughter was driving on the NJ Garden State Parkway at approx. 60MPH. she Smelled smoke in the passenger area & at first thought it was coming from the side of the road. She then noticed smoke in the car & pulled over to the side of the road. She barely had time to get clear of the car before it burst into flames & was totally destroyed

The jeep commonly chokes and dies right after a fill-up. after 30 seconds to a minute, the problem disappears. this has been happening for at least 10 years. online data search appears to indicate that this is a common problem with jeeps. having your car die in traffic creates a dangerous situation.

I'm experiencing what i've found to be a well-documented issue with a vapor-liquid separator valve located in the gas tank of my 2007 jeep patriot. after fueling, moments after starting the car and putting it into drive, the car will stall and shut off. it will immediately re-start and run again but is pretty much guaranteed to shut off at every stop (i.e. at an intersection or while exiting the gas station) for the next few minutes. it also leads to hesitations of the engine while driving at full speed. this has happened to me the last four times i've filled my gas tank. on the most recent occasion, the engine stalled while in an intersection, as i started to make a left-hand turn. the engine shut off, the steering wheel locked up, and i had to throw it into park and restart the car while stalled in a lane of oncoming traffic. i'm very fortunate the oncoming vehicle was paying close attention and stopped to allow me to exit the intersection. this issue only occurs after filling the gas tank, when the vapor canister component that the valve is supposed to protect becomes flooded with liquid fuel during the fill. when this component purges its contents, the intake manifold is flooded with liquid fuel, rather than vapor, causing the stall. after driving several miles (presumably when all of the liquid fuel has been purged from the vapor canister), no more problems are seen until the tank is refilled. some investigation has shown that i'm far from the only person to experience this dangerous defect. the faulty valve is located inside the gas tank, and the issue can only be resolved with a prohibitively-expensive replacement of the entire tank. this is absolutely a documented flaw inherent in several vehicle models in the chrysler family, and it needs to be addressed before anyone is killed as a result.

Shortly after filling the gas tank of my 2007 jeep patriot (49xxx miles) i was coming to a 4 way intersection (only my side and the opposite side of the intersection has stop signs). as i was pulling through the intersection my jeep patriot stalled and i lost my power steering and brakes. i was almost struck on the passenger side by a vehicle traveling from the right side of the intersection from my orientation of the intersection. i tried to restart the vehicle for about 5 minutes to no avail. it would start and then immediately stall again. after almost being struck 5-6 times and after about 5 minutes of being stuck in the middle of an intersection i managed to start the vehicle up and drive it home by driving about 15 miles per hour on backroads for the remaining 2 miles to my house. after searching the internet to find the problem i found that this is a common issue among many jeep patriot/compass owners and nothing has been done to address the issue. please look into this issue as myself and my passenger (fiancee) could have been seriously injured if not for sheer luck.

Vehicle stalls after refueling. each time that the vehicle is completely refueled, but not topped off, the vehicle will stall after approximately 30 seconds of driving, regardless of whether or not the vehicle is in motion. on multiple occasions this has happened when turning, causing the vehicle to lose power steering in the middle of an intersection. research online has shown many other owners having the same issue. i have been told that the issue requires the replacement of the entire fuel tank in order to be resolved.

Jammed front passenger belt. unable to use front seat for passengers. belt jammed when trying to belt-in.to leave our home. went to dealer service dept. mechanic tried to pull on it with no release. after conferring with supervisor and manager, they told me i needed to have a new seat-belt unit installed. that part would cost $300. plus install charges. should we have to pay for a safety issue malfunction which prohibits use of front passenger seat. there are only 2 adults in this household.

Vehicle has had stalling issues following refueling for several years now. aside from after refueling the stalling is unpredictable as for timing. sometimes it stalls immediately after refueling and starting the engine, other times it will stall after i'm already in traffic several minutes later. this creates a significant safety hazard.

Every time i fill up the car, once a week, i am barely out of the gas station and bam! car shuts off. or as i am driving it stalls, sometimes it goes and sometimes it just shuts off. i've cars almost rear end me because it so sudden. sometimes i just turn on the car after gas just to wait for it to shut down so i don't kill myself in traffic. took the car to a mechanic paid 800 bucks and it still happens. they replaced the full injector and some other stuff that i don't know. they pulled the gas tank out to do whatever it was. the entire car smelled like gas for weeks. why can't something be done. looks like i am not the only one. every ones complaints matches mine. this has been going on for a year.

Every time i fill up my 2007 jeep patriot with fuel when i drive off into the city streets it turns off on me and everything locks up in traffic while i'm in motion almost causing a accident every time and that's once a week can you please help me before i get killed or someone else gets killed.

After filling up at the gas station, started too drive and after a few minutes the car sputtered and stalled. started car again and the stalling happened again.. after these 2 incidents the car was fine until next fill up. this has been going on for a few years.

After filling up with gas twice now it stalls right after i fill up the gas tank. the steering wheel locks and i've been stalled in an intersection that is not safe. i just purchased this used a few weeks ago and was not aware of the problem or i would not have purchased it. it's a fuel tank rollover valve and should have been recalled years ago. the entire fuel tank needs to be replaced which is an expensive job. should be recalled so people can get it fixed by dealer at the dealer cost. this is not something that happens with normal wear and tear it is a manufactures defect. why wasn't this recalled years ago.

When i gas up below a quarter of a tank my jeep stalls out and steering locks up completely in the span of a second so i have no time to move over. if i gas up at around a quarter or above it lurches really bad several times for next few minutes then runs fine until gassing up again then repeat. i was almost in an accident the first time this happened now i have to drive fifteen minutes away to gas up and drive the back roads to let it run it’s course so if i stall i won’t get killed. it it supposedly the valve on top of the gas tank resulting in the whole thing needing to be replaced. this has almost gotten me killed as well as many others who i’ve seen discussing the issue. please look into this and get this recalled!

This has happened twice now in 3 days. after fully filling my fuel tank and then driving away from the pump my jeep patriot stalls before i hit 3/10 of a mile from the gas station. contrary to some other reports of this issue, that i have read, as well as the explanation of the issue posted on the nhtsa website, from fca, this does not happen only at idle. rather it happens while i am driving. when my jeep stalls i also lose the ability to fully steer (can only turn the wheel appx 1/4 turn) and braking does not work as well as it normally does. when it happened today i ended up mounting a curb and sidewalk in a residential area. the street i was on was turning but i couldn't turn with it. if i had not engaged the emergency/parking brake i would have driven through a chain link fence and into a home. once i restarted my jeep and backed off of the curb the engine stalled again while my jeep was in motion. luckily i was barely moving and already had my hand on the emergency/parking brake. when i restarted my jeep the next time i revved the engine to 3,000rpm for appx 1 minute while my jeep was in park. my jeep did not stall after that for the rest of today. tomorrow may be another story. i see in this form there is the ability to upload photos but i did not know about this being an existing safety issue or the ability to report it before now. as a result there are no photos of my jeep on a curb about to crash into someone's house. with the number of reports of this issue having already been made to the nhtsa i am shocked that a mandatory safety recall was not demanded.

When filling gas tank the car stalls and any time when driving . this is very dangerous when pulling out into traffic, this has happened mant times!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every time i fill up with gas the car makes it to the first stop sign and then just dies. i start it up and start to drive it and it dies again. i have to sit in one spot and keep trying to drive hoping it won't die and i will get hit.

After the tank is filled to full, i then drive off, and the next time the car comes to a complete stop, the engine cuts out. the car has to be put into park and the engine is able to restart, and this only happens when the tank is full - but it causes the engine to stall out. as long as i don't fill the tank to full, it won't happen. however this has been consistently happening anytime i fill up the tank over the last year and a half.

After fueling i will leave the gas station and my patriot will sputter and often die while going down the road. i believe this to be a safety issue and have seen multiple reports of this same problem. this happens every time i fill my patriot up with fuel.

The subframe is rusted out

Upon each complete fill-up with gasoline, shortly after driving off from fueling, the vehicle will buck severely, and shut off. when it shuts off and rolls to a stop, steering control and power braking is lost, and you are at the mercy of all traffic around you! this has been going on since around 2012. from countless hours of investigation from other owners on forums, discussions with dealership personnel, as well as my own independent mechanic's electronic and mechanical analysis, this appears to be a common complaint among patriot & compass owners of multiple production years. the only work around is to not fill up the (already tiny) fuel tank completely. the most likely root cause is a malfunctioning fuel tank roll-over valve, which allows raw fuel to enter the evap system, and upon the ecm issuing a "purge command," the vehicle stalls. compounding the situation is that the roll-over valve is not replaceable separately from the entire fuel tank assembly. with the vehicle being long out of warranty, the cost of a complete new fuel tank assembly plus labor, is prohibitive. this is clearly a safety related defect that chrysler does not want to stand behind. i have had several close calls when leaving gas stations, pulling out into traffic and nearly being rear-ended when the vehicle stalled. i imagine if nhtsa does not hold chrysler accountable for all of these non-conforming vehicles, which by now are mostly out of warranty, the only way to get chrysler to take responsibility, would be to get into an accident due to the stalling issue, and then sue them, assuming i lived! this is unacceptable. dealerships and chrysler customer relations have been absolutely no help at all. you are our only hope.

After filling up at gas station and getting on highway engine shuts off after the jeep bucked several times. when engine shut off steering wheel locked. had to put car in neutral urn key to turn on engine. additionally after that,jeep continually dies immediately following fill up at gas station. it currently dies approximately 3 times in a row before the engine will stay running. this is a highly dangerous event. if it shuts off and i do not wait at the gas station while i'm driving down the road then the steering wheel locks and i could have an accident and kill myself or someone else. this is a serious situation that jeep / chrysler needs to fix. was there a crash ... almost!

Car stalls after filling up tank. started doing this 3 fill ups ago. different gas stations. gas tank is not "topped off". stalling occurs for the next few miles or 10 minutes of use. car is fine after that. stalling occurs when rpm is under 1000 and does this when stopped or slowing down to make a turn. added "heet" to tank, thinking water may have gotten in there from the gas station. ruled that out after using a different gas station. car has 130,000 miles on it. i have owned it since it had 30,000 miles on it.

The gas tanks on these cars are defective..you have a hard time putting in gas ans then after you do it stalls and putters for about 15 mins after.this is a well known issue -it seems a charcoal filter in these tanks is causing this problem.this is very dangerous-you can stall out in traffic after filling up and get slammed in the back!! chrysler is well aware of this be refuses to recall. probably due to cost..someone is going to get killed if this issue isn't corrected !many times i have started to stall out after filling up with traffic bearing down on me and my family..please help us! thank you!

The jeep's engine cradle/subframe is rusted out and has holes in it so it cannot hold motor and has a crack through the middle of frame.

After i fill my gas tank off and drive, the car will stall and shut off. and steering locks up. almost been in serval accidents because of this issue. other people have filed about this same issue. some people say its the vapor/liquid separator valve. not sure, but regardless, this issue needs to be looked at before someone gets killed because of it. i called the dealership and all they tell me is that i need to replace the fuel tank at my cost.

Every time i fill up with gas the engine stalls shortly after and the steering wheel locks up while driving. very unsafe! i’ve tried to get the issue fixed but it sounds like a defect in the gas tank. nothing that i have replaced has resolved this reoccurring issue.

My front and rear cross members are corroded. i took it to the dealer i purchased the car from. they told me i had to call chrysler, which took forever and a day to get back to me (about 10 days). for them to tell me it was not something they feel is necessary to fix. if i want i could have the dealer do it, and pay out of my pocket. after doing some research, this seems to be a problem with the patriots, and some jeeps in general. this is not a fix i can afford, not can i get a new car at this time. mechanics at the dealer were shocked chrysler did not approve this, since it is a safety issue.

My jeep patriot is stalling after fueling. it seems to lose power & may sputter also before stalling. i can also smell a strong fuel or chemical smell when this happens. it has become a dangerous problem seeing as how it occurs after fueling and i have to pull out into traffic after leaving the gas stations. it has happened at large intersections where i have almost gotten hit by other vehicles or caused an accident for other motorists trying to avoid my stalled vehicle. so far, my jeep will start after stalling so i can continue on my way. it is a very scary situation when it happens and the fear of an accident is profound.

I heard a knocking noise when i was backing out of my driveway and took it to a mechanic. they showed me that the rear sub frame was rotted. there is a huge hole from the rust. my car has always been garage kept and well maintained so this did not seem logical from everyday wear and tear.

I bought my 2007 jeep patriot on 1/24/2015 i was so excited. i started having problems around 5 months with the gas tank. i bought a new gas cap and yes jeep brand and still the same problem. i have been reading other owners issue and they are identical to mine. the car stalls and shut off in the middle of traffic, at a stop light or just whenever. i was reading some complaints and they were saying the charcoal canister is the problem. the complaint also said you can not replace the charcoal canister, because it was build into the fuel tank, so you have to replace the whole fuel tank. the cost for a new fuel tank is around $1,250.00 ☹️ very sad about the cost. my boyfriend gave me his car to drive because he said it's to danger for me to be driving my car, but he drives it now and i'm worried he might get hurt. i do think this should be a recall item before someone gets badly hurt or die.

After filling gas tank with fuel, after 30ish seconds the engine will stall and sometimes recover, sometimes quit. this happens regardless of whether i am stopped at a light/sign or driving. i have read numerous reports of others having this same issue. seems that the charcoal canister is filling with gas. please help make this a known issue for other drivers! this has happened over the last 3 or 4 months with my vehicle.

After filling the fuel tank all the way the car will stutter and stall when you first pull away from the station. i was told this is because the vapors canister malfunctions. this isn't bad, except in this state the steering locks. it doesn't just get and to steer like old days without power steering, the steering wheel actually locks as if you are in park.

I had a complete ball joint failure while driving on the highway. the failure resulted in my wheel separating from my car while driving in moderate traffic highway speeds (35 mph). due to the failure and continued forward motion while driving, the entire front driver's side suspension had to be replaced.

When the tank is filled, the engine stalls soon after leaving the gas station. the vehicle buck and stalls, and quits completely. very dangerous when it is in traffic or during a turn as steering and brakes non-functional. have replaced charcoal canister but now mechanic informs me the whole gas tank assembly needs replacement. work-around for now is to not fill the tank up all the way.

Shortly after filling up the gas tank on 3 separate occasions, i could drive my car about 1/4 mile and the whole engine shuts off. this only happens when the tank is completely full. the car shudders and stalls repeatedly right after fill up. once a small amount of gas is used the car seems to run fine but the stalling happens at idle. at a red light, stop sign, or when speeds are reduced to turn. it is very dangerous to know your car can shut off randomly, had to drive on highway and main roads with hazard lights on for fear of not knowing when it would stall again. mechanics looked at all wiring and parts under hood of car and could not find anything. the only thing in common with the 3 stalls was that i had just filled the gas tank up completely. it seems chrysler has knowledge of this with other cars, minivans etc. many jeep owners have complained about this exact issue on a jeep forum. options seem to be: don't fill up completely, or replace the gas tank, which is costly.

The wiring to and the fuel pump housing melted the wiring that goes from the back side of the plug and down to the pump that is submerged in fuel also melted it was a matter of time before it caught fire. the vehicle would still run and it would randomly short out while driving. i've replaced the pump and kept the parts that have burnt.

After refueling vehicle to full tank capacity, the vehicle stalls and steering wheel locks in an intersection within a few blocks from the gas station. for 2 years, this vehicle has been stalling after every gas refueling. it has now started to lock the steering wheel concurrent with the stalling. my wife, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the 8/18/15 incident felt she was in danger as cars tried to avoid the vehicle as well as almost hitting another vehicle because of the locked steering wheel.

My car has only 89,000 miles and the k frame under the engine is severly rusted and cracking that the car is dangerous to drive. it will cost me thousands of dollars to repair. this shouldn't be an issue.

This 2007 jeep patriot began having issues with the cvt aproximately one year after i purchased (2011). while driving home from work on the highway vehicle slowed to about 10 mph then chugged quite a bit before refusing to start again. replaced transmission twice at $3,500 (2012) for the first and $4,500 (2013) for the second one, also purchased the 5 year warrenty on the second cvt trany. vehicle is in the shop every 3 months to work on transmission as of today (8-6-2015), which is very frustrating.

Driving 70mph on the highway, the tire low pressure light came on. moments after, i noticed the steering was odd and seconds after i heard the flopping. the tire valve stem with tpms failed. it had lost the nut which holds the stem to the wheel. i was going down the highway at 70mph! this is a safety hazzard and these need recalled and replaced with good parts!!!!!!!! this is the 2nd valve stem where the nut has disappeared and leaked air from the tire so it went flat! this is unexceptable. i just found out jeep is the last to have a universal replacement rubber stem which can be programmed to the auto's computer. federal regulations to implement more safety standards and the parts are made from aluminum and plastic (as to not increase mpg another fed regulation) which cannot hold up to the outside elements. taxpayers are paying the bill again with $60-$70 to replace each tpms since the valve alone cannot be replaced plus the aluminum ones are guaranteed to again fail. why don't i see more complaints on nhtsa for tpms since there are lots more on the internet.

After filling up tank to "click" shutoff with no overfilling, jeep patriot 2007 stalls and shuts down completely after about 2 minutes or 1 mile back on the roadway. after the first incident, this continued happening after every complete to "click" fill up. took jeep to dealerships in plano, tx and richardson, tx for consultation with their service departments. both service managers informed me that it could be any part in the fuel delivery system malfunctioning that would cause this, and that any repairs would be exploratory and most likely the total would be $1,000 parts and labor. my research on the web points to a faulty valve that is integrated into the fuel tank (not separately replaceable from replacing the fuel tank) that doesn't shut off correctly. this causes the vapor canister to become saturated, which messes up the fuel/air mix beyond the ability of the computer to compensate for, so the jeep stalls. the stalling out with the loss of power steering makes navigating out of traffic difficult and dangerous to me and other drivers. for now, i guess about when the tank might be full at fill-ups, and manually stop the fill-up. filling up short of the auto "click" shutoff has so far avoided further stalls. however, doing this is not always easy to monitor. also, i now worry that the vapor canister and perhaps other fuel system delivery components may be damaged, but don't want to pay for exploratory (guesses) parts and labor repairs; i would like a clear indication from the manufacturer as to the specific part(s) failures that are causing the stalls, and would like for them to recall any parts as a major safety issue.

Going to town driving between 45mph and 50mph and the front tires stop turning and skid to a stop. therefore causing my head face to strike the steering well resulting in a bleeding nose and a bruised chest. *tr

On 3 occasions within the past year by car has just been turned off while i'm driving by i believe my knee bumping the ignition switch. i know chrysler has had other recalls due to similar issues on other makes/models but not on the '07 patriot from what i've seen. i believe there may be a similar issue on the '07 patriot. car just totally dies. i then have to put it into park and restart car and it'll work fine at that point. *tr

When i purchased the vehicle in 2012 i was assured that the pull and sound from the front end was just a needed alignment. 2 months later it was clunking and popping. after taking it to a mechanic, they stated that both lower control arms including ball joints, and the tie rod were terribly worn. the mechanic was not surprised because of the make and model of the jeep patriot. said it is a well known issue for these to go out almost immediately after the warranty expires. this jeep is supposed to be "trail rated" with the off road package, but i don't even feel safe driving it on city roads and haven't since i bought it. i have had to replace these part by part due to the fact of the high cost and that the value still holds up on jeeps so i make monthly finance payments on a vehicle that should have been recalled. this is outrageous that i am stuck with the 100% of these repair bills to fix what should not be a problem on a jeep. i am extremely disappointed in chrysler jeep and will probably never purchase another one again. :( *tr

05/02/2014 backed out of parking spot to pick up son from school. vehicle stalled 3 times in parking lot before having to push it into a different parking space. towed to dealership. received call test codes for steering angle sensor not initialized. dealership not able to show error/code to the warranty company,- warranty company would not ok work. this "code" has never been duplicated again. 5/28/2014 car stalled while driving 15 mph and would not restart. tried to get codes but no power to the engine. vehicle towed back to dealership on 5/29. 6/4/2014 received call from dealership to ok replacing battery due to it dying. 6/5/2014 called chrysler & they opened a case. 6/11/2014 dealership called telling us that we needed to pick up vehicle and that they could not find any problems and would not spend any more time with it. 6/12/2014 husband spoke with chrysler/jeep and he was told that they were going to look further into the issue. 6/23/2014 husband received a call from chrysler about getting more internal resources involved and we would hear back in a few days. 6/26/2014 received call from chrysler/jeep. they sent a chrysler rep and tech to the dealership - they were able to start car 20-30 times with no issue, could not replicate any problems. chrysler rep recommendation to dealership charge us storage fees if we did not pick up the vehicle by 6/30/2014 also told that they could not do anything for me since my vehicle was older and did not have a warranty through them. 6/27/2014 picked up vehicle. 7/04/2014 car died in middle of road, after about 15-20 minutes husband able to restart vehicle. 9/15/2014 the car has been parked ever since 7/4/2014 too afraid to drive it due to stalling issues and an unwilling to pay for another "diagnostic test" or tow to be told that they can not find the issue. continue paying for a vehicle i can drive safely. *tr

At a stoplight idling, the engine rpm's dip below 500 and the vehicle begins to shudder and then stalls out. if the shifter is moved to neutral the shuddering stops. this has happened multiple times over the past few months. took the vehicle to a jeep dealer and they said they could not replicate the problem, the vehicle displayed no trouble codes and there were no recall notices in their system. it happens only at very slow speeds (1st gear) or when idling. *tr

Smelled burning plastic . . . faint at first, but kept getting stronger. pulled over to find the problem and saw flames coming out of the speaker in the left rear door. half of the speaker cover was totally burned away. poured water on the fire to put it out. also poured water through window down behind the door panel to make sure any flames/sparks that weren't visible would be extinguished. *tr

The right rear cross member and trailing arms fell down while driving, causing over $2500 in damage. luckily i was going slowly enough because someone could have been seriously hurt. i was without my car for over a week.

I was stopped at a traffic light and my vehicle stalled on me, it began to shake a bit before it turned off. in order to get the vehicle back on, i had to turn the key to off, put the vehicle in park, then turn the vehicle back on. unfortunately, i've been having this issue since 2007 and we are in 2013. i have taken the suv to jeep multiple times and they cannot find the problem, even after leaving it for over a week. last week, i was making a u-turn when the vehicle stalled on me once again. i drew the line and i'm ready to take legal action. my life was suddenly in danger as i had a vehicle approaching me at over 40mph. something must be done to get these vehicles off the street. the worst part is that jeep gave me a lifetime power train warranty but since they are unable to locate the issue with the vehicle i have had to live with this horrible vehicle and the worst service that jeep offers. *js

I bought my 2007 jeep patriot the end of may of 2007 and it started leaking from the dome light the first rain we had...a week after i bought it. i brought it to the dealer several times at first to get it fixed since the leaking kept recurring and it was covered by warranty. the tubing end was crushed and twisted was the first diagnosis. i lost faith in having the problem fixed. i dealt with the leaking dome light but now other issues have added to the disappointment. water not only pours out of the dome light but leaks into spare tire, carpet in back seat area, on my shoulder from plastic border around sunroof, and little squares of plastic on bars on both sides of windshield. i had to buy a steam cleaner to both extract water from carpet/spare tire space and also clean the carpet. there is so much leaking water that i hear water waves in the back as i drive. i just brought my jeep in this week (7/15/13) to address all the leaking issues. they replaced a seal around my 3rd brake light and cleaned my carpet. just drove my car (7/20/13) after a bunch of rain last night and water poured from the dome light, dripped on my shoulder, and some is in the spare tire area. the carpet was dry this time. i will have to bring my car in again next week. i imagine they will tell me i need a new sunroof which i am not confident will fix the issue. the sunroof was new when i bought it and it leaked so why should i replace it only to probably have more leaking and debt. i don't have a covered area to store my car nor should i have to do so. i have replied to jeep's request for input on my jeep patriot and service via survey but feel like it is a waste of my time. i think everyone at the dealer is trained to respond to my disappointment of water leaks with a comment such as, "yeah, sunroofs are notorious for water leak issues." drying up water is very distracting to do when driving. *tr

After filling the gas tank the engine will stall. it happens with engine idleing or after enterring traffic. very very very very.......dangerous, jeep needs to fix this issue. tons of jeep owners are having this problem. jeep don't wait until your product has kill a bunch of people including me and my family.
