2007 FORD F-250

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 ford f-250. after the vehicle was broken into, the contact discovered that the lock was popped open and the alarm system was deactivated with a flathead screwdriver. a police report was filed. he felt that this was unsafe because someone could easily break into his vehicle without triggering the alarm. the current and failure mileages were 33,000.

I had just washed my truck the day before and when i cleaned the wheels there were no issues and then the following day after dropping my kids off at school i noticed a crack in my back driver 20" chrome oem rim that went from one spoke to the other about a inch from the valve stem there is no road rash or damage to the rim to cause it to crack and after seeing it i googled it and it seems to be a commen issues and should be felt with its a major safety issue not only for the persons in the vehicle but also for the surrounding motorists and i contacted ford about the issues and was told that they don't care and will not do anything about it i have photos that can be sent and also have the rim that i think should be tested so that a recall can happen to get this safety issue fixed before someone is hurt or killed because of it

Speedometer started mal function. creating a hyper speed - instead of 25 mph - was reading 60 mph.

This vehicle was towed into our shop because it would not start. we installed a new starter and left it over night in the stall when we came back in the morning it had attempted to start its self and had driven through the door and out on to the lot wedgeing itself in the new cars. this truck is a standard transmission and was left in gear with the keys out of the ignition. if you set this truck and leave it it will tray to start it's self. some times it will take a day or as little as 10 minutes.

Instrument panel loses power. no guages work when power is lost. no tach or speedometer, electric windows also do not work. this is a safety issue if i cant determine how fast i am going.

The vehicle shakes violently on the road when i go over a bump when traveling at 65mph or higher. i have to slow down to 50mph or below to get it to subside. *tr

Brake booster feed line came off at intake . i had no power brakes just a hard brake pedal when i was stopping to pull on to the highway. had to push pedal real hard to stop. i feel it should have been in recall #08s05 that i read was in 2008 .

Front end shimmer when crossing over bad road spots. the shaking can be very bad almost lose control.

1) faulty head bolts repair was over $6000 involved gaskets, cracked heads, bolts, updates and upgrades. 2) death wobble front end issues (mine are fortunately occurring at at low speeds) however the wobble has caused many front end and steering components to wear out prematurely. wobble kicks in after sharp turns and wheel will not return to center and when forced back to center it will wander and hunt for center. usually up till 20-25mph then self corrects.

Bouces all over road shocks also leaking fluid.

Egl cooler failure, white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe caused by coolant entering into the emission system. "on all 6.0 engines the egl cooler will fail." this problem is so "massive" with so many "massive complaints from customers" that ford has done two things 1) designed a by-pass kit and 2) re-designed the engine to eliminate the problem (6.7 engine). when the egl cooler fails, ford offers two solutions to the customer 1) install the by-pass kit and the problem is solved (at a cost of $4500) or 2) repair the egl cooler to bring it "back to factory" (at a cost of $4300). ford tells customers that if option 2 is chosen, the "egl cooler will fail again". all quotes used are direct quotes from ford's service department. *tr

Pronounced and severe shimmy and oscillation in the steering wheel when traveling over small bumps or dips in the roadway and on uneven driving surfaces. ford dealer confirmed the problem and replaced a tracking bar and the steering damper. these repairs helped but did not eliminate the issue. new oem tires were installed 2,000 miles after the ford repair. as of dec 2013 the vehicle now has 78,578 miles which is only 5,000 miles since the repair and 3,000 miles since new oem tires and the same severe shimmy and oscillation in the steering wheel is occurring again. in dec 2013 i received special field action letter 09l02 from ford concerning this very issue. having complied with all points in the special field action letter 09l02 the same problem exists and continues to worsen. this is clearly a safety issue that ford needs to address with a recall notice and the 09l02 letter is indicative that this is a wide-spread issue. *tr

Recently, while driving my ford f250 truck, i have experienced the ford's death wobble on three separate occasions. after driving over a bump in the roadway, the front end starts wobbling to the point that i have to brake and pull over just to stay in control of my vehicle. when this death wobble occurs, it causes the driver has to fight the steering wheel and apply braking just to stay in control of the vehicle. it is a real safety concern!!!! *tr recently, i have read several articles identify the problems with ford€™s front end and their solutions to fix the fronts ends. as usual, ford comes up with excuses and not a solution to repair their products. there is plenty of documentation (u-tube video) on-line documenting the serious of this complaint. it is time that your agency takes a closer look at this problem and see that ford accept responsibility to repair their vehicle. *tr

I have a 2007 f 250 diesel and every time i am driving over speed bump at 45mph to 65mph my truck shakes like crazy it has been taken to the dealer for a fix but nothing is done i am afraid that one day this will cost an accident i hope the this mater is taken care soon thank you for your help. *tr

Going along around 55 to 60 mph and run across very mild bump and the front wheels will begin to shimmy so bad it jerks the steering wheel back and forth. i have to hit the brakes and slow way down to get it to stop shaking. it is very dangerous feeling and is not tire pressure like ford claims. *tr

High speed wheel oscillation occurred while driving the speed limit of interstate 275 around cincinnati, ohio. i hit a bump on the exit of the interstates bridge and the steering wheel shook really bad left and right. i had received a letter last year warning me about this condition. i did not think i had a problem with this truck until this happened. i was lucky that i did not crash this vehicle when the oscillation occurred. i researched this on the internet and several other owners for the f250 have had the same problem. ford needs to fix this problem before someone gets killed! *tr *js

I have a 2007 ford f-250sd 4x4 with a 6.0l diesel engine. on may 29, 2012 my vehicle experienced a no start condition and had to be towed to the dealer. upon arrival i was advised that i needed a new starter and possibly more but it could not be determined until the vehicle was running again. starter was replaced and i was advised that the vehicle needed a fuel injection control module (ficm). my vehicle is 6 months out of warranty but 50000 miles below what would be acceptable in the warranty period. ford has issued 3 to 4 tsb's regarding the problems with the ficm it is one of the most common problem's with the ford 6.0l diesel engine. i contacted ford and requested some assistance since the vehicle was only 6 months out of warranty and the mileage. ford denied that any issue exists with the ficm in the 6.0l engine. ford advised me that if i was not happy with their answer i should contact your organization. *tr

Hit a bump on interstate truck started shaking violently, i almost caused an accident and had to slow down to about 40 or it was going to shake me off the road, i could barely hold on, brought is it to the dealer and they said it was tire pressure, which was about 70lbs not the recommeded 75, come on that is not the problem. it is still doing it years later, wnet back to the dealer they said it was a brake hanging up and ripped me off for parts, still does it. i have now put on tires tie rod ends ball joints steering dampener, shocks and still does it. i know i'm not the only one. make them fix this and compensate those of us who have tried to do so on our own because they won't accept that there is a problem. *tt

My 2007 ford f250, superduty 4x4, harley davidson edition (all stock), experienced extreme cavitation, or wobble, and violent shaking to the steering and front suspension after encountering a mild series of bumps while traveling about 50mph. this has occurred on 3 occasions. i have read 100's upon 100's of complaints online about this same problem with several different year model ford trucks. i have taken my truck in to the ford dealership and ford has even admitted to the problem being with a design flaw and even has a correction for it that includes a newly designed bracket, relocating some steering components, and new specs for the front end alignment, but wants to charge me $1700.00 for the repair(or redesign). unbelievable!! *tr

Like many owners of a ford diesel truck the fuel tank is rusting. i have cared for my truck as recommended by ford motor company. now my truck is no longer under warranty it is over 3 years old and is at 47000 miles. this has been a repeated problem among ford owners and it seems as the ford motor company is getting away with ripping off consumers. $600.00+ to repair but all they will do is clean out the tank. this is a defect in these trucks. this problem has existed for years yet ford is not required to place the proper type of tank in these vehicles. let me repeat... this is a known problem! from what i understand many other owners have sent complaints here. i really hope ford is held responsible for this issue. people are spending thousands of dollars having to take care of this same problem and ford just replaces the tank for the issue to arise again down the road. it causes vehicles to stall and slow down until the vehicle is restarted. this is not safe! *tr

When driving my ford f-250 45 mph and over and hitting any kind of bump the front end shakes severely. the brakes when applied will stop the shaking. the damper was replaced but it did not help. if the bump and the speed was great enough it would cause you to crash. the truck has 38,000 mi. and the dealer tells me there is no recall and it is not under warranty. i plan on taking it to an independent front end specialist to diagnose the problem.

The truck i am paying over $50,000 for has left me stranded and has been towed 3 times in the last month. purchased end of jan. '07, has 30,000 miles with a diesel engine. i am afraid to take this truck back on the road and ford says all they are obligated to do is repair the truck. this is the 4th attempt. *tr

The dashboard's reflection in the windshield is terrible! it is especially bad on a bright, sunny day or when i'm pulling into my garage. the glare makes it so difficult that i must roll down the side window and put my head out to be able to pull into the garage! when i drive it in the dark, the street lights light up the dashboard and that too reflects into the windshield. i've reported this to ford executive office (karen jones) and they say it's just the way the vehicle was desgned. they claim it's not safety issue and have no plans to modify the vehicle. i disagree! they have not driven my truck and seen this!*ak

On march 3rd 2007, i was shopping at a wal-mart super center in douglasville, ga. when i returned to my vehicle (a brand new 2007 ford f-250) i discovered that while i had been shopping my vehicle had been broken into. although nothing was stolen from my vehicle over $1000.00 to $2000.00 or more, worth of damage was caused when the vehicle was broken into. i immediately called the police and when they arrived i filled out a police report. the purpose of this letter is to express my extreme dissatisfaction with ford motor company for what i consider an extremely defective product (the door-handle/lock plate) that, i am now having to pay for. all it took for a thief to break into my ford f-250 was, what the police officer determined, a flat-head screwdriver. it is extremely disturbing to think that all a person has to do is jam a screwdriver under the plate, for the door-handle/lock plate, pry down and the door pops open. this is a serious mechanical defect to the craftsmanship of this vehicle. as it stands it is easier to break into a ford vehicle with one of these substandard door-handle/lock plates than it takes a locksmith to open the vehicle. *jb

Electronic throttle control (drive by wire) fails intermittently. engine goes to idle with absolutely no response to the throttle pedal while driving. pedal assembly has been replaced twice and the pcm once. vehicle has less than 1500 miles. *nm

Odi has received 78 consumer complaints of severe suspension and steering wheel shimmy and oscillations commencing after the subject vehicles traveled over an uneven road surface. the majority of these incidents occurred at speeds of 50 mph or greater.thirteen of the complaints received by odi allege loss of steering control and that the vehicle changed driving lanes uncontrollably.four of the complaints received by odi allege that the vehicle left the road surface as a result of the violent suspension and steering wheel oscillations.in one case the consumer alleges that after the vehicle left the road surface, it crashed into a wooded area.additionalfactors contributing to the opening of this ea were early warning field reports,submitted by ford, describing suspension shimmy / oscillationsand a ford tsb (07-10-10) describing the suspension shimmy issue and how to repair the problem.ford has described shimmy as "self-excited oscillation of the steering wheels with accompanying wheel tramp".this pe has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea) to determine if the shimmy condition that occurs on the subject vehicles creates a condition where the vehicle becomes difficult to control or startles the driver, thus presenting a safety risk.

This investigation was opened based on 78 consumer complaints of severe suspension and steering wheel oscillations after the subject vehicles traveled over an uneven surface.odi was concerned about these complaints because many of them alleged loss of control and the loss of control occurredat speeds above 50 miles per hour.at the time these complaints were received, odi was also aware of the tsb 07-10-10 and early warning field reports that discussed the shimmy condition on the subject vehicles.since opening this investigation, odi has confirmed, based on consumer complaints, warranty data, testing conducted by vrtc, and odi inspection of complaint vehicles, that the owners of the subject vehicles are experiencing shimmy events on their vehicles.however, odi has also confirmed that owners typically do not maintain their tires at the pressures recommended by ford on the tire label.further, odi has found that in order for shimmy to occur, tire pressures must be substantially below (at least 20%) those specified on the vehicle tire label.odi considers these unsafe tire conditions to be the result of one of three typical situations.the tires are being improperly maintained, the owners are intentionally setting the tire pressures low to enhance ride quality, or aftermarket tires (not designed for use on the vehicle) are installed to change the appearance or function of the vehicle.the subject vehicles are intended and designed to be used as heavy duty vehicles and as such require that the tires be capable of handling the loads for which the vehicle is designed and marketed.in order for the tires to be capable of handling these loads, the proper tire pressure must be maintained.in light of the information gathered in this investigation and ford's agreement to notify subject vehicle owners (now and every two years until the vehicles reach ten years from their production date) about the importance of maintaining proper tire pressures on their vehicles, further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.for additional information, see the attached closing report.

This investigation was opened based on 78 consumer complaints of severe suspension and steering wheel oscillations after the subject vehicles traveled over an uneven surface.odi was concerned about these complaints because many of them alleged loss of control and the loss of control occurredat speeds above 50 miles per hour.at the time these complaints were received, odi was also aware of the tsb 07-10-10 and early warning field reports that discussed the shimmy condition on the subject vehicles.since opening this investigation, odi has confirmed, based on consumer complaints, warranty data, testing conducted by vrtc, and odi inspection of complaint vehicles, that the owners of the subject vehicles are experiencing shimmy events on their vehicles.however, odi has also confirmed that owners typically do not maintain their tires at the pressures recommended by ford on the tire label.further, odi has found that in order for shimmy to occur, tire pressures must be substantially below (at least 20%) those specified on the vehicle tire label.odi considers these unsafe tire conditions to be the result of one of three typical situations.the tires are being improperly maintained, the owners are intentionally setting the tire pressures low to enhance ride quality, or aftermarket tires (not designed for use on the vehicle) are installed to change the appearance or function of the vehicle.the subject vehicles are intended and designed to be used as heavy duty vehicles and as such require that the tires be capable of handling the loads for which the vehicle is designed and marketed.in order for the tires to be capable of handling these loads, the proper tire pressure must be maintained.in light of the information gathered in this investigation and ford's agreement to notify subject vehicle owners (now and every two years until the vehicles reach ten years from their production date) about the importance of maintaining proper tire pressures on their vehicles, further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.for additional information, see the attached closing report.
