Remedy: Chrysler will notify the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM owners. Mitsubishi owners will be notified by their company. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall is S43. Note: This recall supersedes recall 14V-7700.
2015-05-27	AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE	Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Dodge Ram 2500, 2004-2008 Dodge Ram 1500 and Durango, 2006-2009 Dodge Ram 3500, 2008-2010 Dodge Ram 4500 and 5500, 2007-2008 Chrysler Aspen, 2005-2010 Chrysler 300, 300C, 300S, and SRT8, 2006-2010 Dodge Charger, 2005-2008 Magnum, 2005-2011 Dodge Dakota, and 2006-2009 Mitsubishi Raider vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture. Remedy: Chrysler will notify the affected Chrysler and Dodge owners and Mitsubishi will notify the affected Raider owners. Dealers will replace the driver’s frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began for Chrylser on June 8, 2015. The recall for Mitsubishi started on June 24, 2015. Chrysler and Dodge owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Mitsubishi owners may call 1-888-648-7820. Chrysler’s number for this recall is R25. Note: This recall supersedes recall 14V817 in its entirety. Vehicles that have had their driver side frontal air bag replaced previously need to have their air bag replaced under this recall as well.
2014-12-16	ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH	Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, Dakota, and 2006 Mitsubishi Raider vehicles manufactured July 1, 2005, to July 31, 2006 with manual transmissions. The return springs in the clutch ignition interlock switch may break. Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the clutch ignition interlock switch, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall is P80.
2006-09-07	POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION	ON CERTAIN PASSENGER AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES AND PICKUP TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS, THE SOFTWARE PROGRAMMED INTO THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE CAN CAUSE A MOMENTARY LOCK UP OF THE DRIVE WHEELS IF THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING OVER 40 MPH AND THE OPERATOR SHIFTS FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL AND BACK TO DRIVE. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 2, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

On July 2, 2007 I purchased a 2007 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab .Towards the the end of August, I noticed after the transmission was warmed up, (After driving 8-10 miles) when I shifted the transmission from Park to Reverse, or Netrual to Reverse, towards the end of the shift I heard and felt a gear grinding sound coming from the transmission. Also about this time I started hearing a single bang sound coming from the rear of the pick-up at low speeds, 5-15 M.P.H. when stopping with firm brake application, and then releasing brake pressure. I made an appointment with for September 7, 2007. When I returned to pick up my Dakota, I was astounded at what the Service Advisor told me. He said the brakes caused both problems and when pressed to explain it to me he could not. At a later date I asked to see the General Manager or the Owner and I was referred to the Sales Manager. In short I was told the brakes (Brake Crunch), backlash in the rear end, excesive bouncing at the back of the pick-up and possibly the rear springs were the causes of my two complaints. According to Service Department said that Dodge knows about this and was writing something about this, it might take two weeks or so, later changed to a year or more. I asked for the Service Representative to look at my pick-up, I never saw him nor has he looked at my pick-up. On October 5, I found a vent not properly installed at the rear driver side of the cab, it was banging on the bed of the pick-up during braking. I installed it properly and the bang sound went away.A co-worker at work suggested that I get a second opinion . I made an appointment for October 8, 2007. the Service Advisor told me that without a fault code Chrysler would not let them work on the transmission. He consulted with his Service Manager of their sister dealership and he suggested after their transmission mechanic returns from vacation he would talk to him about this problem.On October 18, 2007 I recieved a call from the Service Advisor for October 24, 2007. After their transmission mechanic looked at it, I was told that there was something making a noise in the transmission but that they could not pinpoint the cause and without being able to pinpoint the exact cause Chrysler would not pay to open up the transmission. I spoke with the Service Manager who explained to me that a worksheet has to be filled out by the service department justifing the repair and since there were no fault codes or any signs of external damage or leakage his hands were tied. he contact the Service Representive and see if he would authorize the repair.On October 31, 2007 said he wants me to drive the pick-up for another 3,000 miles to break in the transmission more and see if the noise would go a way or get worse. Again I was astounded.On November 1, 2007 I spoke with the General Manager. would see about getting the Service Representive to look at my pick-up.On 30 November 2007 I filed a complaint with Chrysler Corp. It took three tries from November 2, 2007 until December 3, 2007 for the Service Representive to look at my pick-up and he agreed to have Dodge repair the transmission.On December 10, 2007 I dropped-off my pick-up at Dodge. They checked the backlash at the rear end, found it to be good and ordered a solenoid pack.When they went to change the solenoid pack they found metal particles in the pan. When they opened up the transmission they found the particles were from the torque converter. On December 26, 2007 I picked up my pick-up, the transmission is still making a grinding noise after it is warmed-up when put into reverse either from park or drive. On January 17, 2008 I returned my Dakota toDodge because the transmission was still making the same noise again. The transmission technician told me that he saw the drive shaft racheting when the transimission was placed into reverse and he said that the transfer case or the yoke assembly or both were the cause of the problem, but he would have to get approval from the Zone Manager . On January 23 with no response , the dealer orderd a transfer case and yoke assembly. On that date the zone manager canceled the order for the parts and said that Chrysler knew about this problem and that a fix was in work, a washer or bushing for the transmission and should come out in a couple of months and it was safe to drive the Dakota. On 27 Jan. 2008 I called Chrysler Customer Center and explained what happened so far.On 24 Mar. 2008 I checked to see if the TSB came out.it hadn’t but he spoke with zone manager last Wed. told him that the fix was to weld a bracket in the transmission but was not as sucessfull as they hoped.butit was safe to drive my pick-up. Welding a bracket in a aluminum transmission case is a special process as is the cleaning of the transmission case of transmission fluid for a good weld, neither of which the dealership can do.

6 Investigations for 2007 DODGE Dakota

The office of defects investigation (odi) opened pe14-016 in june 2014 based on six inflator rupture incidents involving consumer owned vehicles produced by five vehicle manufacturers.all six vehicles were operated in florida or puerto rico at the time of the rupture and for the majority of their service life, and were equipped with inflators produced by takata, a tier-one supplier of automotive air bag systems.during the course of pe14-016, odi determined that five additional vehicle manufacturers used inflators of a similar design and vintage also supplied by takata. no evidence of field failures was found in vehicles produced by these five additional manufacturers.nonetheless, at odi's insistence, all 10 vehicle manufacturers initiated a regional recall within approximately two weeks of the opening of the investigation.the regions recalled initially included florida, puerto rico, hawaii, and the u.s. virgin islands, areas with high absolute humidity and climatic conditions believed to be a significant factor in the inflator ruptures.as part of the recall actions, inflators removed from remedied vehicles are to be returned to takata for testing.takata's initial test results on passenger inflators from remedied vehicles indicated a much higher than anticipated rupture frequency for inflators returned from florida.accordingly odi requested all 10 manufacturers expand the regional recalls for passenger inflators to include other geographic areas where high absolute humidity conditions exist, including the gulf states and other coastal areas.takata's testing of the passenger inflators to date continues to indicate this geographic area as having the highest risk, with no ruptures occurring from inflators returned from outside the expanded recall regions.during pe14-016 four additional passenger inflator field events occurred, all in vehicles from the same expanded geographic region.also during pe14-016 four additional driver inflator field events occurred including two in vehicles from regions not known for high absolute humidity, specifically california and north carolina.accordingly, odi requested all five of the affected vehicle manufacturers currently using the subject takata driver inflators expand to nationwide recalls.significantly, neither of the affected vehicle manufacturers or takata provided any explanation to account for these two driver air bag inflator ruptures outside the area of high absolute humidity.takata testing of returned driver inflators indicates a lower rupture frequency as compared to passenger inflator testing.all test ruptures reported by takata to date have occurred on inflators returned from high absolute humidity areas.the investigation now includes all manufacturers and vehicles known to be affected at this time.odi's investigation will focus on, among other things, root cause analysis, other potential defect consequences, identification of affected vehicles scope, and adequacy of the remedy.the five odi reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/searchnhtsaid under the following identification numbers: 10537899, 10568848, 10585224, 10605877, 10651492

The office of defects investigation (odi) opened pe14-016 in june 2014 based on six inflator rupture incidents involving consumer owned vehicles produced by five vehicle manufacturers.all six vehicles were operated in florida or puerto rico at the time of the rupture and for the majority of their service life, and were equipped with inflators produced by takata, a tier-one supplier of automotive air bag systems.during the course of pe14-016, odi determined that five additional vehicle manufacturers used inflators of a similar design and vintage also supplied by takata. no evidence of field failures was found in vehicles produced by these five additional manufacturers.nonetheless, at odi's insistence, all 10 vehicle manufacturers initiated a regional recall within approximately two weeks of the opening of the investigation.the regions recalled initially included florida, puerto rico, hawaii, and the u.s. virgin islands, areas with consistently high absolute humidity and climatic conditions believed to be a significant factor in the inflator ruptures.as part of the recall actions, inflators removed from remedied vehicles are to be returned to takata for testing.takata's initial test results on passenger inflators from remedied vehicles indicated a much higher than anticipated rupture frequency for inflators returned from florida.accordingly, odi requested all 10 manufacturers expand the regional recalls for passenger inflators to include other geographic areas where high absolute humidity conditions exist, including the gulf states and other coastal areas.takata's testing of the passenger inflators to date continues to indicate this geographic area as having the highest risk, with no ruptures occurring from inflators returned from outside the expanded recall regions.during pe14-016, four additional passenger inflator field events occurred, all in vehicles from the same expanded geographic region.also during pe14-016, four additional driver inflator field events occurred including two in vehicles from regions not known for high absolute humidity, specifically california and north carolina.accordingly, odi requested all five of the affected vehicle manufacturers currently using the subject takata driver inflators expand to nationwide recalls.significantly, neither of the affected vehicle manufacturers or takata provided any explanation to account for these two driver air bag inflator ruptures outside the area of high absolute humidity.takata testing of returned driver inflators indicates a lower rupture frequency as compared to passenger inflator testing.all test ruptures reported by takata to date have occurred on inflators returned from high absolute humidity areas.the pe is now closed/upgraded to an engineering evaluation (ea15-001) to include all manufacturersand vehicles known to be affected at this time.odi's ea investigation will focus on, among other things, root cause analysis, other potential defect consequences, identification of affected vehicles scope, and adequacy of the remedy.the recalls related to this pe are: 14v343, 14v344, 14v348, 14v351, 14v353, 14v655, 14v700, 14v701, 14v752, 14v763, 14v770, 14v773, 14v787, 14v802 and 14v817.the number of vehicles affected are an estimate since some vehicles may have both the driver and passenger side inflators recalled. the five odi reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/searchnhtsaid under the following identification numbers: 10537899, 10568848, 10585224, 10605877, 10651492
