ON JULY 13,2008 VEHICLE ON INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED ALL WARNING LIGHTS,FRONT WINDOWS (POWER) WENT DOWN WOULD NOT RAISE.VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ALL SENSORS WHICH PROVIDE ACCELERATION CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THIS OCCURED DURING A THUNDERSTORM,WHEN WINDOWS WENT DOWN RAIN WENT ALL IN VEHICLE .IT TOOK ALMOST 20 MINUTES TO GET WINDOWS TO OPERATE. I HAD CAR TOWED TO SOUTHTOWN HYUNDAI,ISUZU AND SUZUKI IN RIVERDALE,GA. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT ON A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND SHOWED 5 DIFFERNT PROBLEMS BY CODE.SUZUKI REFUSED ANY WORK TO BE DONE OTHER THAN DISCONNECTING BATTERY AND CLEARING CODES AND FOR VEHICLE TO BE RETURNED WITH NO REAPIRS BEING MADE. A SERVICE REP FROM SUZUKI CORPORATION INFORMED SERVICE ADVISOR RIC BAUCOM THAT NO REPAIRS ARWE TO BE MADE . SUZUKI WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE FORENZAS BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY WAY TO CORRECT THEM. IF THIS SYSTEM FAILS AND ME ON THE HIGHWAY OR A BUSY STREET MY LIFE AND OTHERS ARE IN JEOPARDY SINCE THE VEHICLE WILL SHUTDOWN WITHOUT NOTICE,KEEP IN MIND THAT THEY(SUZUKI) IS AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE FORENZAS BUT REFUSE TO MAKE ANY ATTEMPT TO CORRECT ANY OF THE ISSUES AT HAND.I VALUE MY LIFE AND OTHERS THAN TO SIT BACK AN BE OK DRIVING A CAR WITH THESE PROBLEMS. My wife and I was on a car trip to Phia. Pa in our new Suzuki Forenza. We had travel a little over 500 miles when on the highway traveling at 65 MPA. We were flagged down by the car we just passed that our car was shotting gas out of the back.We were lucky that traffic was still about a quarter of a mile back and the exit was real close. We had to cross two lanes of traffic and in less that a mile the car ran completely out of gas, which stopped the engine. If no one had warned us, we would have been caugth in the middle of traffic when the engine stopped. This would have lead to a big accident and a lost of a lot of lives. Also the car that warned us had just thrown a cigarett out of the window upon our approach on the drivers side, what if we were closer(BOOM).Neither one of us saw anything in the road or heard anything hit under our car with any kind of sound report.So you can understand why we were both in shock to find out something had struck our gas tank with enough force to knock a hole in it and we got no warning what so ever. It was also at this time we learned our new car had a plastic gas tank,that with the right amount of gasoline in it will not make a loud report when struck like a metal tank would.The gasoline in a car is not only very costly it is also very dangerous.Susuki said even thought it was a new car because the tank was struck they were not responsible and would not pay. This whole situation added another $900. to the cost of our trip to see family for the holiday, which upsets me to no end. The thing is that we were lucky to have the right set of circumstances that saved our lives. The next family might not be warned, does there always have to be lost of life before you can step in and save future lives. How many people know that the car they are driving can put their life in danger because it has a plastic tank that can be ruptured with no warning. I have my tank if you want to inspect it and I hope you will take the time to look into this matter before someone is killed because of this saftey oversight. I purchased my car on 11/21/05. A week after I got the car it stalled on me three times. I had the vehicle towed in to the dealership where they stated that they could not duplicate the issue after keeping the car for over a week. When I got the car back, I opened the trunk and found a part placed neatly on the side. It was the piece that the tow vehicle connects the chain to. I did not understand why it was broken when the tow truck tech backed the car onto the flat bed. I spent another week trying to get my car back after the dealership kept it trying to get the towers to pay for the damage. On 12/26/05 the car stalled twice and then on 12/27/05 it stalled and caused me to have to swerve out of the way of a postal truck behind me causing damage to the wheel. When I spoke with the dealership, they said that they would take care of everything. When I got to the dealership and tried to talk with the GM. He came out and yelled at me and told me it was not his problem. Empire Suzuki has lied and falsified information in order to keep the car sold. They tried to renew my lisence on line without my permission as I was told by Chris Ray, my sales rep. They then doctored my lisence and sent it in to Chase Bank. I have not received any of my paperwork from the initial sale. I have had the car a month and one week and out of that time, I have been in possession of the vehicle a total of 2 and 1/2 weeks.

On feb 3, 2007, i had a automobile accident. the accident resulted in my car being totaled. it had extensive front end damage, and the air bag sensors were exposed, but the airbags never deployed. i wasn't injured bad enough to seek medical attention, but could have been, as a result of the airbags not deploying. my insurance adjuster told me that there was no reason for the bags to not work, because the sensors were exposed, and i had hit many trees with the radiator resting on the motor. my adjuster gave me his name and number for contact if i needed for anyone to contact him. my car is now totaled, and i have no transportation, because the suzuki company will not stand by their products. this is a safety feature, and should have been in working order, as it was a new car. *nm

Takata recall: and, defective fuel propulsion as the car reves up some times when going and shuts off by itself when traveling causing a dangerous situation. 2). campaign id.# 14 v262000 and 3.)12v397000 . i have tried to contact the company but i keep getting a message that i called out of service time and to leave a message. only to get a automated message that says the system isn't working. i do realize that there are other issues with this product car, like the takata air bags.

Vehicle sporadically stalls while driving, not a stop light or sign but while the car is actively being driven and the accelerator is depressed. most recently it has begun to rev up between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm. when this happens, i put the car in neutral to try to get it back to normal. 2 days ago when this happened it caused me to hit a pot hole hard enough to break my driver side ball joint and lower control arm. i see recalls for other, same year model suzukis that experienced this same issue. i don't think i should have to pay to repair a known mechanical defect. there is also an nhtsa id describing this issue as well. it is extremely scary to have the car reving that high and trying to control it. i am thankful that i only hit a pot hole and not another vehicle or worse.

I started my car and a few seconds later the airbag in the driver seat went off and the airbag hit me. the car was stationary.

When putting the car in gear in either reverse or drive, there is a loud thunk and jumping feeling. there will also be an 'x' on the instrument panel next to the 'd' for drive on the shift selector. i have researched what the problem could be and it is the the range transmission sensor, it appears after researching this is a very chronic problem in the suzuki forenza.

One of my children was buckled in the back passenger seat. my child tightened his seat belt, and the buckle detached from the fabric. this is very unsafe, my car has almost 57k on it. there is no reason for this to happen and is a huge safety concern that should be corrected asap! this situation could have been way worse! thank god i was not driving or in a accident!

While driving the cars check engine light will show up. i lose all control of speed even while pushing the gas pedal in. the only way to regain control is to cycle the key multiple times and let it idle in neutral for five minutes. after i regain control the check engine light is still on, and the car will jump revolutions randomly. this will occur on both city and highway speeds, it doesn't act up unless i'm in motion driving. it will rev i'n revolutions while i'm driving or at a stop.

On march 6th 2018 i was involved in an accident with a volkswagen gti i was sitting in the left turn lane in the intersection waiting for traffic to clear so i could proceed when i did i was going approximately 5 miles per hour on a city street when a red light runner of course ran the red light and plowed into me going approximately 50 miles an hour . on impact the seatbelt failed to do what it was designed to do. instead it immediately unlatched which in turn caused me to be thrown into the passenger door, the dash and the back seat.

The vehicle is under a recall campaign (xa-xc) for drl module/ignition switch replacement. the owner is physically unable to get the vehicle to the nearest dealership for the repairs to be performed (he is prohibited by his physician to drive such long distances). suzuki will not allow any other facility, no matter how well qualified, to perform the repairs. suzuki offers no solution - like offering to tow the vehicle - aside from an offer to reimburse for fuel. i am a neighbor and can attest to the owner's physical limitations (he had a stroke). he is also elderly and from another country - so his comprehension of the issue is limited. he's worried the car isn't reliable enough for his daily trips to his doctor and voiced worry about his options to get it fixed. it is my hope the intervention of someone from the nhtsa might sway suzuki to offer a variance from their policy - so they would offer to transport the vehicle to and from the nearest dealership for the repairs to be completed (since i was told a dealer must be the ones performing the repair).

Suzuki has never sent me a recall notice: 2016 explanation- they are only going by each state's vehicle owner recorded address. i/ my car have had the same listed address since purchase. suzuki on nihtsa shows 4 recalls; forenza engine wiring harness is not there. what else is missing? original forenza owner, under 47,000 miles. repeatedly, warning lites came on with overheat. oct.2006 engine stalled at 35mph in intersection; with multiple complaints suzuki, aware of ewh failure, fails to do a foenza engine wiring harness recall. i see the same symptom complaints by other forenza owners. took 3 car stallings before diagnosis made & engine wiring harness replaced. from oct.2006 complained of "old car creaking/ruff suspension" noises/bouncing going over any speed bumps or rolling streets. suzuki replaced some damaged bushings but noises/bad suspension returned; i continued complaints to the dealer and suzuki, & paid for several wheel allignments. without informing me, suzuki the dealer mechanic, again checking on my complaint, notes "cracked struts" about 1 month after my 3yr full waranty expired. 2012, i learned of the "old car symptom" suspension damage from a non-suzuki mechanic reviewing the car repair history. there is now a suspension system corrosion faiure recall for 2006 vitaras but not forenzas; same year vitara and forenza problems seem associated issues. 2006, suzuki recalls for overheat/fire ignition from headlights/electrical swtichs are 2 of 4 recalls listed with nihtsa. 2007-2015, i complained to suzuki of the same symptoms (multiple failed batteries, electrical burning odors, light shorts...) suzuki describes as high priority for repair of headlight/electrical switch. me, unaware of recalls, suzuki denied any responsibility!! my a/c air system, radio, and rarely used driver window shorted after episodes of battery failures in 45mph city traffic.

I bought this car used at 98000 miles in 2011 and since then i have had airbag light staying on every 4-6months or so ( the drive side)...then i would take it in to the dealership and they would replace the censor, etc and reset it. am really frustrated with this, there must be a faulty sensor/part of the airbag with 2006 suzuki florenza airbag.

Battery indicator and brake indicator illuminated on the cluster panel. when in drive, the display showing what gear you are in flashes an unrecognizable signal. some trouble accelerating.

The fault conditions of this vehicle cause the air bag mil to illuminate. diagnosis verified a fault with the passenger oc mat/sensor and was replaced. the same fault conditions repeated with the same diagnosis of a faulty passenger oc mat/sensor and was replaced again. but even though the same part was replaced twice there remains a fault with the air bag system and diagnosis concludes that the same fault remains with the passenger oc mat/sensor. this seems to be a design/engineered and possible a software fault with the air bag system. no resolution has been achieved and concerns remain that the air bag may not deploy properly in the event of a vehicle crash. please provide a written response to this complaint.

Vehicle purchased new in 2006. under 16,000 miles one owner. hard shifted out of park or reverse. lost power when in drive with normal rpm's~ diagnosed as faulty transmission range sensor by independent repair shop. replacement part also faulty. please note mechanic used term "faulty". extreme safety issue. i expect suzuki motor company to issue a safety recall with parts that are designed not to fail at such low mileage. *tr

When i was driving on the road my airbag from behind on the driver seat busted and my head hit the steering wheel and i stopped in the middle of the road , not knowing what was going on and my i seen smoke coming from the side of my driver seat, and i seen my air bag had busted on it own. *tr

I bought my 2006 suzuki forenza brand new. the engine gave out on me in 2009. i replaced the engine once. additional to the engine problems, one day while exiting from a major highway, the car just stopped going about 45 mph and started going about 10 mph, while a noticeable flashing square with a blinking line comes up on the gear indicator, on the dash. i almost caused an accident. i was told it was the transmission range sensor which i've now replaced two times. note: brand new transmission range sensors were placed and still have the same issue. when i put it from park to drive (gear), the motor jerks and feels like the motor's going to fall off. the catalytic converter has also failed to pass inspection. the a/c gave out about 2 years from the time i bought it (brand new car). it's not a reliable car, at all. once i fix something, something else breaks. then the paint on the door handles is chipped off, i've had two door handles break on the interior, now i hear it has electrical problems under the dash. i haven't had this issue but not looking forward to it. it constantly drains my wallet, therefore the car has been sitting in the driveway pending repairs which might not be beneficial to continue making. *tr

I own a 2006 suzuki forenza wagen with an automatic trans-axle that i bought new from a dealership (expo suzuki) selling suzuki motor cars, in kingwood, texas. problems started happening to my car while i was in my driveway attempting to shift from park to drive, when i noticed the gear selection indicator window on the dashboard started displaying odd readings other than park or drive or a combination of its range modes(r,d,n,1 and 2) with a slash line going through it, indicating that an error/malfunction is occurring (this started at 75,000 miles or less, on the vehicle's odometer.), i shut off the car and restarted it with no error/malfunctions displayed; good, but the vehicle now drove sluggish; it would not drive beyond 20mph or less. it was taken back to the suzuki dealership by tow-truck where i purchased the car from, and they claimed that no problems were found. instances also involving this same problem with my suzuki forenza wagen came on the highway. the malfunction caused the car to quickly come to a near dangerous stop in heavy houston texas traffic, due to the nss(neutral safety switch) malfunctioning without warning; almost involving me in a near fatal collision going at highway speeds; i happened to look and see the dashboard gear indicator window had that slash mark(s) in it again. i've taken my car back and forth, to my suzuki dealership because of the neutral safety switch problem, with them only replacing the transmission, this time. dealerships in houston texas who sold suzuki motor cars up until recent, will not touch this particular transmission, i've been told to just replace it, if its under suzuki motors warranty? o.k. fine. this has not remedied my ongoing problems with this car. *tr

I have owned this car since 2007. the airbag light on the dash keeps turning on. every time i take it to the dealer he said that there is no problems with the airbags and that the scanner is not picking up the code. he resets the system and the light goes off and every fee months i have to take it back to do the reset and im paying $55 for each reset at least 3-4 times a year since i got this car. also the dealer told me that o have to dk these resets because everytime the light turns on it means that the airbags are disabled l and it is a safety issue. so i take it regularly every few months to reset it. this has to be a recall through suzuki because it is a problem. *tr

I was driving down the road like normal and came up to a stop light. as i was slowing down it downshifted hard and when i tried to accelerate from the stop light it took more gas than normal to pull away. i then noticed that my check engine light was on. i took my car to an auto store the next day to read the codes. it gave the codes po700 and po734. when this happened i had a loss of power and acceleration and was unable to go normal highway speeds. also when shifting from park to reverse or from neutral to drive it shifts hard and kind of clunks into gear. the next day i tried again and it was shifting just fine, but still had the check engine light. later that day the same problems from the previous day returned. when the second incident occurred i was trying to make it back home through a heavy snow storm. if this problem had caused me to stop on the side of the road i could have been hit due to the zero visibility. i have seen many complaints about this same problem and trouble codes and i believe something should be done about this. *tr

My transmission range sensor has failed for the third time in as many years. each time i have it repaired by the dealership. this malfunction causes the vehicle to spontaneously throw itself in to neutral or reverse either while driving or when vehicle is at a complete stop. while driving my car suddenly jerked very hard then slowed to an almost complete stop causing the car behind me to slam on its brakes and hit my bumper. i stopped, restarted the engine and then was not able to accelerate past 15mph even with my foot firmly on the gas pedal. like i said before, this is the 3rd time this has failed and i am glad that the person who was behind me stopped quickly and only tapped my bumper. this has also happened at higher speeds and is just an accident waiting to happen. suzuki needs to do a major recall!! i don't understatnd how so many people are having the same problem yet it is not being investigated! *tr

While in drive car suddenly switches to idle and will not accelerate with the pressing of gas peddle. it was only able to coast. the range selector part is the issue. it cannot function repeatedly since this is a reoccuring event. the only way to drive is in drive 3rd gear with the engine light on. the great concern is that will lead to an accident since the time of it ceasing to function is unpredicatable. from research it is clear that this is a nearly universal problem with suzuki forenzas and as a safety issue it needs to be a part properly replaced under a recall by dealers. *tr

My check engine light came on. i went to auto zone and was told it was the transmission sensor. after some research, we discovered this problem runs rampant on 2006 suzuki forenza models. we took it to the dealership and the manager over parts and service changed the sensor for us. however, the connector it plugs into was broken and he would look for a used one, as buying a new one means buying a whole new engine harness ($800-$900). anytime i look up my make and model this is all anyone has to say and suzuki will do nothing about it except charge more money to keep trying to fix it.they should be forced to recall all of these vehicles until the problem is resolved. *tr

Driving down residential street vehicle stalled and began to idle high while in the "d" position. applied brakes and tried to put it in to "p" position but dash read reverse. turned ignition off and gears shifted as designed. 4 incidents followed this one have not had it repaired.i was putting gas in with the engine off one i got back into the vehicle cranked it and immediately the scrambled symbol appeared i cut the engine back off and tried it again and the scrambled symbol was still visible i shifted down through several gears with clunking noises and heavy jerking until i was able to find drive 3, i was able to move the vehicle at a slow pace to a parking space until i had it towed to my home. sent it to a mechanic had throttle repaired put the very same day the very same problem occurred while my children and i were on the interstate headed home from their school. was able to shift to drive 3 and get it off of the roadway.turned off ignition and cranked it up again the vehicle ran normally took it to an autozone so that the check engine code could be read and it came back as p0700 and p0705 have not had the funds to have it looked at by suzuki dealership. with this as an recurring with other vehicles as well as mines something has to be done before someone is greatly injured or killed just stating the obvious. love the vehicle but afraid to drive it even if the necessary repairs are made i don't want to feel as if im driving my and my kids death mobile. *tr

2006 suzuki forenza. consumer request reimbursement for headlights recall notice. *smd the consumer stated the headlights failed, while driving. according to the repair invoice, the mechanic found the high beams inoperable and found the high and low beams inoperable through a switch, the day time running lights were keeping the low beams on, and the high beams worked through a flash to pass. when the mechanic removed the instrument cluster, there was exposed burnt wiring at the splice.

I slowed down to turn off of a busy street onto a side street. as i went to speed up to about 15-20 mph the car slammed on the brakes itself, my foot was on the gas. i put my foot on the brake for 20 seconds and then put my foot on the gas to try to drive again. the car again slammed on the brakes. i put my foot on the brake, put car in park and turned off the car. i turned it back on and was able to drive to a safe spot. i am terrified to drive it again. what if i had still been on the main road? *tr

I thought my vehicle was stalling but the engine was still running and my tachometer was accelerating. it would stop while i was driving and the engine would rev,i tried to move but could not. i drive a busy highway speed limit 65, i had to pull off the road so i would not get hit by a semi. one day pulling out of my community, accelerating at 45mph the vehicle just stopped in the middle of two lanes, another vehicle swerved to avoid a crash. a police officer pulled over, i explained the car just stopped. he saw the symbol flashing on dash, a rectangle with line through it. went home in 3rd or 2nd gear, that symbol is not in manual. had a diagnosis and only o2 sensor i was having replaced. i received recall notice from suzuki . i was scared to drive the car but had no choice, so drove slow in 3rd or 2nd, when d failed again. i had appointment for recall repairs, while at dealership was asked if i had trouble with the shifter going into gear, i said it had been happening,that i tried to get it checked, it didn't show on diagnostic performed earlier and it was dangerous. they said i need a transmission range sensor, they could fix it. i wanted to take it elsewhere, to save but i was scared to death to drive it. they said they have been seeing this in forenza's. this is dangerous, life threatening issue. there are tsb's issued and have been incidents like mine and nothing has been done. someone is going to cause a huge accident if they have not already, would anyone even know if a car is burned up or completely wrecked? i did contact american suzuki to advise them of my problem so they would have it on record. i advised them that before this dangerous situation developed the shifter was getting stuck in park and that i had reported that to the original dealer and was told they could find no problem so nothing was done. *tr

For approximately year prior to the incident date indicated on this form, 06/05/2012, my vehicle has malfunctioned sporadically in the way(s) i am about to describe. since 6/05/2012, the malfunction has occurred and worsened every time i drive. upon the initial gear shift from "park" to "reverse," my suzuki forenza jerks. after the shift, the dashboard displays a "p," despite being in reverse. when i shift to drive, i feel a jerk, and my dashboard displays a multitude of things; at times it remains a "p," and at other times it shows "n" for neutral, "r" for reverse, a simple "d," or a flashing "d" with a diagonal line through it. as i press the gas to accelerate, my rpm's increase, the engine revs, but my car does not move forward for a period of anywhere from 10 seconds to a full minute. the vehicle then jerks and shoots forward very quickly, which is greatly hazardous and alarming. once my vehicle is in motion on the road, a separate but seemingly related incident occurs at various speeds- i can be on a neighborhood street or the interstate. all of a sudden, it feels as if my car is shifting itself into neutral and is still moving due to momentum. although i immediately remove my foot from the gas pedal, my rpm's shoot up into the 6/7 range, the engine sounds as if it is going to explode, and the vehicle jerks. at this time, the dashboard displays a number of different shifts, alternating from the flashing "d," to, "p," and so on. i have researched this issue and found that hundreds of other suzuki forenza owners have experienced the same malfunction, due to the transmission sensor. it may be a relatively easy and inexpensive fix, but that doesn't lesson the severity. this vehicle has had 4 other safety recalls thus far, and i am enraged that it is has not been recalled entirely due to this widespread and extremely dangerous malfunction. *tr

Driving down interstate had smell coming from the dash like melting wires. dash high/low beams stopped working, luckily daytime running worked but not good enough to see well at night periodically they will come back on for a few then cut back off. most often they do not come back on at all and doesn't stay on long..afraid of fire or if working going out while driving and wrecking with my kids in the car. we purchased this car last year from a used car dealership and it was fixed under the recall or 07 in jan 2008, called dealerships and suzuki and they are telling me even though there is a new recall out for the same thing.. for 2004-2006 forenzas manufactured between the dates of sept 2003 and march 2006 that my car that was manufactured 11/2005 doesn't fall under the recall? just need to know what to do since its obviously a manufacturer defect. or if maybe some information was crossed and hopefully ours can be fixed under the recall . *tr

Accelerating up a hill, the check engine light came on solid (not flashing) and the "d" on the dash display where "drive" is signaled was flashing an incomprehensible icon that was not found in the owner's manual (looked like a square with two slashes through it.) the new transmission signal would flash for 10-15 miles or so starting during acceleration. the part that the dealership replaced was a "transmission range switch." *tr

Today my wife noticed that the battery indicator and brake indicator lights illuminated on the cluster panel this morning while driving to work, as well as the speedo needle bouncing around when coming to a stop. i picked up the car and drove it to auto zone to see if there were not any obd ii codes stored. i too noticed the brake/battery lights, as well as the speedo needle would jump when i used my turn signals. i got it to auto zone and there were no codes stored. it was after the code scanner was hooked up my real problems began. when putting the car in gear (either d or r) it would slam into gear, the speedo didn't work and to top it all off, the car had no acceleration. i had this issue before, and it turned out it was the transmission range selector. well, that was replaced no less than 10k miles ago. please, someone place this car on the lemon list so i can recoup my losses. when there is next to no acceleration, it can cause an accident because the car can not move fast enough to avoid getting clipped (or worse). *tr

A malfunction occurs when i attempt to shift gears from park to any other. 1. it makes a loud, deep sound, similar to "thunk-thunk" and if i don't have my foot on the brake hard enough, the car lurches. 2. the dashboard signal for pdrn etc randomly changes to a weird symbol that is not any letter in the american alphabet. 3. it makes a revving sound which should indicate a higher velocity when in fact it is at a lower velocity. 4. it will not accelerate properly. when entering a high frequency road or highway, i have to floor the gas pedal to go normal speed then maintain it. 5. it shifts out of drive into neutral while i am driving and independently of my activity, thankfully approximately only about once every month. 6. the check engine light is always on. 7. the mechanic said it was related to the transmission but was called a range something or other. 8. i notice these problems more in stop-and-go city traffic than on long uninterrupted distances. 9. i consider these random car behaviour problems unstable and unsafe. 10. to any driver new to handling/driving my car, i would have to explain its quirks for them to drive and not have a tragic vehicular accident involving the improper response of my car to normal use. 11. the warranty ran out long ago. it was only for three years. the problems started occurring after the warranty expired, of course. 12. it will cost me about $200 to get the range whatchamacallit fixed, $200 of which i believe suzuki should pay. unrelated problem, sometimes the seatbelt buckle unclicks itself. *tr

On numerous occasions the transmission would slip gears, the vehicle jumps and the check engine light goes on. an independent mechanic told me it was the transmission range sensor that was defective and needed to be replaced. this is a seriously dangerous issue because it happens mid drive. apparently its my transmission range sensor and it has happened to a lot of people. i have done research on this issue with this particular vehicle and have found that this issue is very wide spread. i feel that no matter how well the maintenance on this vehicle is kept up, this issue is destined to become a problem and a safety issue. because this sensor glitch causes the vehicle to suddenly switch gears and slowdown without warning or brake lights, there is a high possibility for accidents. i believe there should be a recall for this to be fixed. suzuki motor corp is grossly negligent for naot making a voluntary recall on this inherently defective part. it is the duty and responsibility of ntsb to compell the manufacturer to issue a recall on these 2006 forenza vehicles. *tr

My 06 forenza would not shift into drive and the check engine light would come on then it would get better and the check engine light would turn off. then i started getting the periodic clunk and scrambled display, usually while in a parking lot or when just starting a trip and driving slow. i finally took it to advance auto and they told me it was the transmission sensor. they sent me to the dealer who made me take the car back home because the check engine light had turned back off and they couldn't read the codes. it's still not fixed because when the check engine light comes on it never at the shop. i have researched online and find that a lot of consumers are having the exact same problem with this car. i think suzuki should do a recall for this problem because it's not a random problem but seems to be a standard problem. *kb

Been having problems with the check engine light being on/of for as long as i have had the car the gears started slipping or staying 3rd, 2nd or r all the time. took it in to try and have it looked at or check the transmission for fluids since it has a sealed transmission. first thing that came up was - i had no warranty, and prices for them to check to see why the check engine light is on before they can do anything. now the airbag warning light stays on as well as the check engine light. and the key will not come put of the ignition. very unsafe. what can a broke unemployed person do?. *tr

I purchased a used 2006 suzuki forenza in california. biggest mistake of my life. i have had nothing but problems since i brought the vehicle. two weeks after my purchase the engine light came on. i was visiting family in las vegas who helped me find a near by dealer. after the diagnostic they advised me the valve cover was sealed improperly. now i just got the car 2wks prior so i called the used dealer i brought he car from and let them know what was going on. not to mention the passenger door handle broke off. i see i am not the only one with door handle complaints. the dealer in las vegas fixed the leaking valve cover and replaced one spark plug as oil leaked into it. this was fixed under the warranty. a month later the vehicle started to stall and then accelerate by itself. the engine light came back on so i took it to a suzuki dealer in van nuys, ca. the service manager advised me after the diagnostic it was the battery. i had the battery replaced and paid a diagnostic fee a total of $275.00. a few months after that the engine light was back on. while on my way to work the car stopped accelerating almost causing a vehicle to hit me. i took it back to the same dealer in van nuys who advised me the throttle was the issue. they replaced the throttle and the same issue is happening. they now claim it's the main engine wiring harness. i called american suzuki to see if the "engine wiring harness" is covered under warranty. the power train does not cover the wiring harness. the dealer is asking for $1600.00 to replace it or $489.00 to repair the wires. i have only had it for 7mos. the dealer also gave a lengthy list of recommended services totaling $2541.00. i declined all recommended services and currently do not have a working vehicle. i believe the issues with this vehicle are pre-existing and the dealer i brought it from knew about it. i plan to return this car.

Yes my cars gears when i drive would go in different gears and i almost got hit. i use this car for taking my kids to school and i love my kids very much. i contacted the dealer ship and they acted like they did not care about this problem and i told them that alot of people have complained.these cars are dangerous and a safety hazard and should not be allowed to be sold or be allowed on the road. and if something happens to people and their families then suzuki and anyone else who allows suzuki to sell these cars should be held responsible if something happens to someone. i will retaliate if something happens to my children. i and all the other people would appreciate if you either stop them from selling these cars or have them recalled. or make them go to the junk yard. thank you *tr

I have had so many problems with this car!! it started out as i was shift into or past reverse. now it shifts on it's own while driving, while pulling into traffic, while at stoplights/stop signs. you will be driving and it will jerk and put itself into park but still go. it's like driving a stick shift without letting off the clutch. this is a very dangerous vehicle to drive. you don't know when it's going to act up. i have my daughter in the car and wait until it's absolutely clear to pull out due to this. tonight (10/13/11) i was driving, hit a bump in the road that i've driven over a million times and simultaneously, my brake light and my battery light came on. i drove to my destination with my lights dimming slowly and pulled into the spot and the car died. i spoke to the local suzuki dealership and asked the service tech is he gets alot of issues with this sensor and he says "the numbers are higher than they should be for this car. I am so upset that my 2006 suzuki forenza transmission range sensor has been going out. i have had this part replaced back in 2009 and it went out while i was driving and almost caused a car accident as i was driving due to the gears shifting as i was on the expressway and had to pull over on the shoulder. i went to the suzuki dealership and advise of the problem and said that it not covered under the powertrain warranty. i am not have the same problem with my car and as i was going through a light with busy traffic the same issue and almost caused a car to rear ended me and due to the gear changing and causing my car to go slow. suzuki should have longer warranties on these parts longer that a year due to the part is not lasting. then the engine light will come on and then the dashboard gears will scramble. the next day the engine light went off and took it to suzuki and said can not help cause light went off. i drove the car for a few days and the light came back on and i was turning into the street to the turning lane and my car started to stall and oncoming traffic was coming. i am also upset that my lights keep going out and it was a recall and suzuki said that it was fixed and i am still having a issue. please help! *tr

Range sensor on my power train seems like it's going out. i have read dozens and dozens of complains for this very part on this very same model and year car and it's not covered under the warranty and i really don't have $200-300 to get it fixed right now. i have a 2 year old who rides in my car and this isn't safe. what it does is when you get up to about 40 miles per hour it will jerk and decelerate down to about 20 miles per hour, this could cause an accident. from what i've read this part really does need to be recalled because lots of people have had this same issue with this car and this part and the warrant doesn't take care of it. i bought a suzuki because i thought it was a good car with a great warranty and i'm finding out that might not have been the case. *tr

My 2006 suzuki forenza looses acceleration while driving; simply put the gas pedal doesn't work. while driving on the highway at speed, and with out cruise control, i will let up on the accelerator and when the accelerator is pressed in again i have no acceleration. this type of incident has occurred numerous times on the highway; even while attempting to pass a vehicle. this is very concerning because i feel i might be run over by a vehicle behind me if i loose acceleration. the vehicle has a tendency to lunge forward while stopped due to this malfunction of the throttle body. the car is not safe to drive anywhere with the possibility that it will not accelerate properly or lunge forward into a car at a stop light. i have contacted suzuki and they tell me it is not a malfunction and will not honor their 7yr; 70,000 mile warranty. i have had several trips to the mechanic to try to fix the problem; and we have worked our way through everything down to the very expensive throttle body. i went to a dealership and all they did was clear the codes; 10 miles down the road the car started doing the same thing all over again. i would like this fixed before there is a sever accident because i'm driving a defective vehicle. *tr

I have experienced two front end collisions to a suzuki forenza 2006. during both accidents the air bags did not deploy as designed to. the last accident on 5/5/11 ended in a total loss of the car due to a front end collision. the impact was such that the left front bumper and fender were damaged. this accident also buckled the hood of the vehicle and raised it at least 1.5 higher than normal. this will give you some idea of the force of the accident. suzuki was not interested in checking the vehicle out until just recently. i feel that if the air bags did deploy, especially on this last accident i would not have sustained any injury what so ever. *tr

I own a 2006 suzuki forenza and have had numerous problems with this car. since purchasing new in 2006, i have had the gas gauge, gas tank, radio, center console, front door handles & catalytic converter replaced. the factory tires went bad within a year, and because it is an odd tire size cost over $400 to replace. currently the check engine light is on stating there is a problem with the catalytic converter which was just replaced about 3 months ago. i left the car overnight at the dealer & got a rental car (which cost $75) and the dealer and suzuki tech support can not figure out why the catalytic converter error continues to show up. the power steering light is also on & i was told that it requires a sensor - not covered by warranty - that will cost over $300. i have had a problem with the engine jerking and slipping gears on acceleration. it would also stick in neutral or not change gears and hesitate to the point of moving very slowly. i was told this was an oxygen sensor which cost me over $300 to replace. i have had this problem once since. the struts - front and back - also need to be replaced which is a $1200 repair because they are leaking. currently both front door handles are broken causing me to have to open the windows to open the doors. i have had them replaced once before under recall, but now it will cost over $200 a piece to replace. i didn't even know there was a light to indicate that the daytime running lights were working until it just appeared one day. the daytime running lights indicator won't stay on - it comes on, then goes back off. i think suzuki needs to make good on these cars because there are so many problems. *tr

Air conditioner will not maintain forced air after two hours of use on warm or hot days. must turn off conditioned air for about an hour to let the system rest. this is very annoying while traveling long distances with children in the back seats. *tr

Ahhh yes...the range sensor going out. my car started doing this in october 2010 and i was told that i need a new sensor too. my car jerks when this acts up and when it is gear, you can see the both the "r" and the "d" on the instrument panel. i took my car to midas and the mechanic (that works on my car) take a look at, he showed me where the sensor is (if you're facing the engine it's the little black round looking thing with a handle and yellow stripe on it). he did something to it and it ran fine for a few days and then did the "jerk" and the engine light came on again. i looked under the hood, and pressed down (as to pushing it back into place) and wiggled it a little before this. when i started my car, it ran perfectly and the light went off. i do this every 3-5 days. it seems to me that the sensor is getting loose and needs to have a new fitting. i'm not spending $253.00 until i absolutely need it. they do need to recall this because it's very annoying to have to deal with!! *tr

I have a 2006 suzuki forenza with less than 50k miles on it. the transmission range sensor needs to be replaced. it begins when i put the car in reverse.the car will jerk and the rpm's will begin to rev but car wont take off and when it does, it goes very slow for a while. as i move the gear into park, drive or reverse, the car will jerk through each gear. this began happening once or twice a month and now has progressed to at least once a day. this is not safe when going through an intersection because you can take off when there are no cars, but the cars soon come racing through and i'm still not across the intersection yet because the car moves extremely slow when the light is on. my husband is stationed in germany and car repairs are extremely expensive here so we haven't gotten it fixed yet because we don't have that kind of money. *tr

I own a used 06' suzuki forenza. all of the interior door handles have broken. this is not an uncommon problem with these cars as it has been reported on the web many a times. the passenger door handle was already cracked and looked to be glued back together. the driver side door handle just broke along with the rear driver side door handle. when i inquired of suzuki after i heard there was a recall for the door handles they said my car wasn't part of the recall. however they used the same door handles for the 06 models as they did for older models that i do believe have a recall. this constitutes a grave risk to the passengers and myself as i have to unroll my window to even open the door, i have to physically get out to let out the rear driver passenger out. in order to fix this i have to pay a large amount of money for this. i am asking that you to investigate this and make suzuki accountable for these badly made door handles. if i were to have an accident my children and possibly myself may not be able to exit the car in case of a fire. *tr

I own a 2006 suzuki forenza sedan. when putting the car into gear, transmission "slams" into gear, instrument panel display scrambles. sometimes vehicle slips into a higher or lower gear on its own. a week ago, i was passing another vehicle on a two lane highway. while still in the opposite lane, car switched into neutral on its own and i was left in the opposing lane with oncoming traffic coming! i was able to switch to another gear and continued to safely pass the car in front of me, but it was a bit scary. fortunately, the car i was passing was driving about 40 mph under the speed limit. from what i've read online, there have been several different instances of this issue occurring. it is related to the transmission range sensor. currently the dealership charges nearly $300 to replace the part, and some say they have similar issues even after the replacement. it is very scary not knowing when your car might decide to switch into neutral or another gear. i hope it never switches to reverse! unfortunately, this issue tends to occur between 40000-60000 miles and is past the initial 36000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, and because the sensor is outside the transmission and not "in" the transmission, it is not covered by the 100000 mile powertrain warranty. *tr

Have a 2006 suzuki forenza. both passenger side interior doorhandles have broke off in the exact same spot making it impossible for passengers to exit vehicle without someone opening door from the exterior side of door. if vehicle happens to be in an emergency situation such as crash or fire, passengers will be unable to quickly exit vehicle. upon doing research on situation as to what needs to be done, have discovered this is a common issue with the 2006 2007 model of the forenza and even after doorhandle is replaced they continue to break. *tr

I have a 2006 suzuki forenza. i bought it new, off the lot in york pa from a suzuki dealer. about 3 months after my purchase, the car began bucking and when i took it to the dealer, they could not find anything wrong. over the last 3 years, the car has continued to buck on cold mornings and after sitting for more than 24 hours. the car now has approximately 59,000 miles on it. then, last week, as i was driving, the car suddenly lost power. the engine light came on and the "d" (for drive) began flashing at me but it had a line through it, making it look more like an "8". i had to floor the gas pedal to get the car to accelerate. i immediately took it to a local dealer (not a suzuki dealer). they found that the transmission selector switch was bad. over the past several days, i have read of other peoples' stories, very similar to mine. had this problem happened on the highway, i could have been in a serious or even fatal accident. i am now going to have to put out a great deal of money to get this problem corrected. *tr

Electrical/exterior lighting: just prior to 10/10/2009, i began noticing my lights were periodically flickering. on oct. 10, 2009, i noticed what smelled like wires burning (electrical burning smell). the following evening i started my car and when i turned on the lights, they didn't come on, however my running lights did come on when i released my break (5 speed), i was also without the use of my hi-beams, however they work when i pull back on my turn signal/hi-beam handle. after doing a little investigation, i found that there was once a recall for this problem, however when i called suzuki, i was of course told that my car was not part of that recall! how nice! the dealer informed me that it would cost not less then $150 to fix! i bought the car brand new in 2006, it is now just over 3 years old! i have never been notified of any recalls, just happened to hear about the door handle recall because i had another issue and had to contact a dealer (not the one i purchased the car from, either) as i have not had the best customer experience with them. my mechanic tried to inquire as to how to obtain the wiring detail for this car so that he could fix the problem, thus saving me a good deal of money...$150! i am a single parent and would hope that a car that is only 3 years old would not have the difficulties this car has had in such a short period of time. for the most part, i have enjoyed the car, but the fact that suzuki is refusing to take responsibility for the faulty manufacturing of this car or at least the exterior lighting is so disheartening to me. this is certainly a road hazard not to mention the safety issue for myself, my children and any passenger i may have. *tr

2006 suzuki forenza wagon. i have searched the internet only to find that very many other people are having the same problems with the shifting of the automatic transmission just like we are. it is stuck in 2nd gear & very slow to accelerate, revs way to high when reaching posted speeds.both are very dangerous. why is this not a recall? we feel we are destroying the engine. we bought it last year,used & with no warranty. we feel we have been taken advantage of . the dealer will not help us(dodge dealer). we called a suzuki dealer and they told us this problem is very common but it is an electrical issue which is not under warranty and extremely expensive. what can we do? please help. *tr

Funny how after the service warranty went out on the car so did the transmission..took it to the dealership and it cost me to have a switch replaced on the transmission repaired as suzuki stated that it was not under the warranty....exactly 6 weeks later the power steering pump went out on the car i took it to the dealership and was advised that the shaft walked out of the pump...imagine that...my thinking was does it have a mind of its own to just walk out. i started doing research on the forenza and to my surprise i found out that the forenza is not actually a suzuki, it is daewoo with the suzuki name...funny how that was never mentioned when i purchased the vehicle, had i known beforehand that i was purchasing a daewoo i would have never purchased the car. to have the power steering pump replaced it is costing me $1000. as i did further research on the car it seems that the ceo of suzuki is aware that the gm daewoo was such a horrible buy however they are not doing anything to compensate any consumers who purchased the forenza, they have just decided in 2009 they will no longer make the forenza. i checked the blue book value for the car that i purchased in 2006 and it is worth 2300, meanwhile i still owe 11000 on the car. in addition the powersteering pump is on back order, the dealership was not able to offer me a loaner because i am outside of warranty and i have no means of getting back and forth to work. as i look through all of the complaints filed on this website i see that there are many people who was/did have the same problems that i did with the transmission, door handles (which i also replaced myself) and the powertrain. i will be filing a class action lawsuit against suzuki for their failure to advise me beforehand that i was purchasing a daewoo (another piece of ¿!@#$% car). *tr

My car was new when i purchased it. when i drove at 60 mph or more the car would start vibrating. i have took it back to the dealer several times. but the problem is still there. they have said low tire pressure. they have said the rim might be bent. they have the tires may need balancing. they have said the front end might need to be lined up. please keep in mind this car was new and i have had this problem from day one. *tr

The inside door handles on the 2006 suzuki forenza are made of cheap plastic and defective. the passenger side broke off and then the one on the back door broke off. i took my car into a dealer for the seat belt recall and was never advise at that time they could replace the handles if i was still within my mileage for my warranty which at the time i was. another suzuki owner had the same issue so we called the dealer and was advised yes we're aware of that problem but can only replace them for free if you vehicle is still under warranty!! if not there is a $50.00 labor charge per door plus the handle cost. suzuki hasn't listed this issue as a recall. upon doing more research i found a website with numerous complaints in reference to the plastic door handles breaking off. now on the 2007 suzuki forenza they use chrome handles.. hmmm wonder why? i feel cheated, if suzuki is aware that this could cause someone harm in the event of an accident and the consumer has to roll down there window to open the door couldn't that be a potential law suit? i'm in hopes someone of authority can look into this and have this listed as a recall, it is unfair to all who own a 2006 forenza to have to pay for a mistake they made trying to cut cost on the assembly line. *tr

I was driving my car through a gravel street, i hit a man hole and the seal to my airbags broke, the air bags did not come out or deploy fully. i was not involved in an accident nor was anyone hurt or injured or any properly damage done, the front or rear side of my car was not hit nor damaged, this lead me to believe that there must be some sort of defect on the car, i had the dealership look at it and they told me there was no defect, but why didn't my airbags fully deploy or inflate? had i not been wearing my seatbelt, i could have been seriously injured. i did some research online and i found that there was other owners of the same make and model with almost the same issues, dealing with the front and passenger air bags. *tr

All interior door handles are broken. each and everyone started with a crack and eventually ending up completely breaking. we are unable to exit the vehicle unless we open the window ,stick hand out and lift door handle. this is a major safety issue for us, we have 3 kids. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact noticed that the tranmission shifted eratically since purchasing it in january 2008. he first. while driving on approximately 55-60 mph, the vehicle slowed down, sped up, lunged forward and shifted into gear without warning. there was also a roaring noise on the front end of the vehicle, a clicking sound near the dashboard, and every light turned off except the check engine light. the radio and air conditioner intermittently turned off and after five minutes, they both began operating normally. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure; however, the manufacturer would not authorize the dealer to inspect or repair the vehicle. on one occasion, the windows would not close causing rain to enter inside of the vehicle, 20 minutes later he was able to close the windows; however, the vehicle began to lose power with the motor on and fully functional. the service advisor at the dealership stated that the acceleration pedal sensor could have caused the failure. the manufacturer once again authorized the dealer to disconnect the battery. the current mileage was approximately 23,800 and the failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

My 2006 suzuki forenza's passenger door handle broke off with little resistance or force. i understand that this is a common occurrence with suzuki and it is a safety hazard, as the passenger door is inoperative without the handle. there is nothing reinforcing the plastic handle and in the event that a passenger ( or driver, i surmise---same handle) needs to get out of the car quickly, this would impede his ability. king suzuki in fort lauderdale, fl. will order the part for me and have it installed, but i do think there should be a recall to have every vehicle corrected. *tr

While driving on i-84 east bound my passenger rear tire ripped apart in a complete circle from itself. this tire has 22,000 miles on it and has not passed the wear mark in the tread. *tr

I have a 2006 suzuki forenza that i purchased new from shoals suzuki in sheffield alabama. i have had two of the inside door handles replaced because they will break off in your hand when trying to open the door. this is a safety issue that needs addressed. these handles are 100% plastic with no metal reinforcement. the service manager told me that they have had alot of them breaking. what if the vehicle was on fire and this happened? there would be no way to get out. please take a good look at this problem and issue a recall on these plastic door handles. thanks. *tr

This car was purchased in april of 2006 as a brand new car with only 77 miles on it, since that time it has been in and out of the service dept on multiple occasions, the first time being, last year when there was oil leaking all out from the bottom, according to the service dept, it was the seal, a brand new car and the seal just suddenly starts leaking oil everywhere? the last several incidents have been within the last few months for the same problem over and over again, noises from the steering wheel and brake pedal, vibration in the steering wheel, noises and rubbing when you turn the wheel. we were told it was the brake booster and the steering rack, so we were put in a rental and waited for the car to be fixed, before my husband even pulled out of the lot with it after being fixed, it was still doing the same thing, so back it went, we get it back, drive it a few days, still the same thing, so here we go again with another rental, get the car back, same thing again, and yet another rental, now while we are waiting to hear something, our car gets hit while at the service dept by someone stealing another vehicle, of which no one called and told us, we found out when we called to see what was up with our car, so now is it not only still at the service dept but now it is in the body shop, this is ridiculous, this car is obviously a "lemon" and needs to be pulled from the market and anyone who had the misfortune of buying one should be compensated or given another vehicle equivalent to or better then this one. *tr

The headlights stopped working. i've spoke to the dealership and was told it is a known issue but there is no recall and i was 500 miles over the warranty when they stopped working. i do have high beams and have checked the fuses. the dealership service person told me it is a wiring issue under the dash board. *jb

The check trans/motor light came on in my car .i made an appt. at suzuki. it was on for 6 days. it went off, then the air bag light came on. it stayed on. i mentioned that there were loose wires hanging under my seat when i dropped it off. they said a wire came loose and that i should not put anything under my seat .i say that the wires are so loose that if someone put there feet under the seat, there feet could get caught up in the wires and unhook them. then my airbags won't work, correct? .if i get in an accident and they don't work, would that be considered unsafe? the dealer said the wires had to be loose because the seat moves and that nobody could get there feet caught in the wires. loose wires under a seat that control a safety device.. sounds unsafe to me..i took it in for the passenger side airbags right after i bought it.. they said wasn't broke and gave me a letter that says the passenger airbag light will come on if the passenger is not seated correctly in the seat.. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. they fixed it this time, too much resistance. *tr

When i first brought the car on 1/30/2006, it started giving me problems,such as not starting up, the engine light on and off all the time. the emergency brake light on constantly. the power windows rolling up and down by themselves. the power locks stop working and then work over and over again. when i'm driving, the car jerks and pulls all the time. (the pulling is coming from the transmission). i am a single mother of two and i feel real bad about getting stuck with a lemon. after i get out of school i take classes at night and my kids go to the daycare on campus when i picked them up after class, got in the car, started it up, and the front two windows rolled down by themselves, and would not roll up and it was snowing and we had to ride all the way home like that. the dealership doesn't care. as far as they are concerned, it is not their problem. it is a messed up world we live in where someone knows that you really need a car and they screw you with a lemon. until this present day, all these problems described still exist but so do me and my son-3 and my daughter-6 if anybody can help, it would be greatly appreciated. thank you. *jb

On feb 3, 2007, i had a automobile accident. the accident resulted in my car being totaled. it had extensive front end damage, and the air bag sensors were exposed, but the airbags never deployed. i wasn't injured bad enough to seek medical attention, but could have been, as a result of the airbags not deploying. my insurance adjuster told me that there was no reason for the bags to not work, because the sensors were exposed, and i had hit many trees with the radiator resting on the motor. my adjuster gave me his name and number for contact if i needed for anyone to contact him. my car is now totaled, and i have no transportation, because the suzuki company will not stand by their products. this is a safety feature, and should have been in working order, as it was a new car. *nm

1. 4-26-2006, car repaired, found that the purge valve has an internal failure. r&r purge valve to correct. 2. 10-24-2006, car repaired, found code po705 trans range switch, open intermittent. r&r trans range switch to correct. 3. 12-21-2006, car repaired, power steering light on. found needle angle sensor part -3721-085z00. suzuki ordered part and still waiting for the part to be placed in car. 4. 12-29-2006, car repaired. complaint was roaring noise and rmp needle going close to 5 and heat index exactly in the middle. the only repair done was r&r right wheel bearing in front and replaced hub. when on 1-10-2007 they called to pick up car all repairs done, i went and they told me that the car is sounding worse and it could possibly be a coupling by the tire and that i need a front wheel alignment and that's why i am having all these problems and that there is nothing wrong or found with the rmp needle going close to 5. i drove the car out and talked to another mechanic plus the owner of speedee's and they all laughed, and said that's not right and i would not go back. in driving the car now it really sounds bad and embarrassing, and sometimes it will not go past the speed i'm on while driving unless i release the brakes and press the gas again. the mechanic states not safety issue. *jb

Three weeks after i purchased my forenza the check engine light came on, so i took it in to the dealership & was told it is a known problem with the forenza .the problem had to do with the '02 sensor' and currently there is no fix for the problem. at that time they reset the code problem. each time the problem recurred i went back to the dealership and they caused the light to turn off. on august 25 the promised fixed was installed and a few days later the check engine light turned on again and i returned to the dealership and was told that the correction has not worked and i would be contacted when one was available. as of october 25, 2006, the check engine light is still on and i have not been contacted by no one, even though i have called, written and emailed to everyone connected to the dealership. *nm

I brought a 2006 suzuki forenza on july 11, 2006. in two or three days i noticed something wrong in the way it was driving. i took it back and the general manager drove the car and stated nothing was wrong. the next day the car would not start. i took it to the dealer they stated it was a software problem and it needed new spark plugs. the car wouldn't start again. i was told it needed an upgraded software. the car doesn't start it sounds as if it wants to cut off and it drives rough and stalls. this car is brand new and montgomery keystone motors were fully aware of this and still decided to sale me a lemon. i have contacted an attorney regarding this. *nm

I purchased a 4 door 2006 suzuki forenza and on the next morning just a day after i purchased my car i put the key in the ignition and the car would not start. i tried again and the car started to shake like it was having a seizure. i let it sit for about 5 minutes before it started. when i told the dealership of what happen i was told it¿¿s a new car and i just had to break-it-in. every morning the car would not start after sitting over night. additionally when i drive i would experience some delays from the transmission, when i accelerate the car would jerk. the last time i had to get the my car towed to the dealership. i was told the problem was a re-programming error. the service department did what was called a pass through re-programming however this did not correct the problem. i took the car in on several occasion because of the same problem. the last incident happened on 9/18/06 and my car is still being tested by the service department at the star suzuki dealership at 1890 dogwood drive in conyers, ga and they are unable to correct the problem.. *nm

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 55 mph on the interstate, the transmission suddenly shifted from overdrive to first or second gear without warning. the rpm's on the speedometer increased drastically, and the contact let off the accelerator pedal. after the vehicle was slowed down to 25 mph, the transmission started shifting normally. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who determined the main processor had to be reprogrammed. the problem persisted after the processor was reprogrammed. the vehicle had been to the dealer 6 times for the same problem. the manufacturer was contacted and determined that this was not a safety defect, but gave the contact a rental car while the vehicle was being repaired.

Dt*: the contact stated while a passenger was in the front passenger seat, the airbag not activated light illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealership who suggested the passenger must sit in the upright position to activate the airbag. the manufacturer also suggested reading the owner's manual where this same information could be found.

I bought a suzuki forenza 2006 in 10/2005 and since february 2006 i've been having the same problem, 5 out of 7 days it does not want to start, i have taken the car to the dealer for the same thing three times and i call every week for the same reason, now they are telling me that they are aware of this particular problem with the forenzas but they do not have a fix for this problem and there is nothing they could do for me. we bought new so we wouldn't have any problems, and we are paying for this car. please help us. *jb

I bought a new 2006 suzuki forenza from a dealer on 23 may 2006. after one week with the car, i began having problems in that it does not start after it sits for a while. i called the salesman on 2 jun 06 and told him that for the third time that week, it didn't start. he didn't inform me of any problem with the vehicle and just stated it shouldn't happen and to have it towed in. i went back to the vehicle and it finally started but i have had the same problem starting it every day since. today i called the service department and they informed me that there is a problem with "cold starts" on this vehicle and that there is no fix for it at the present time, and i'll get a recall message in the future when suzuki figures out what's wrong with the vehicle. i believe this problem should have been disclosed by the dealer/salesman before i bought this new vehicle and when i originally called them on 2 jun 06 with a complaint, they should have revealed the problem to me at this time. i feel this car is a lemon and i have no recourse. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated that the airbag off indicator light remained illuminated when a passenger was seated in the front passenger seat. the vehicle was inspected by the dealership, who determined that the vehicle was operating the way it was designed to operate. the contact expressed this would be a safety concern in case of an accident where the passenger airbag does not deploy. the passenger must sit upright in order to trigger both sensors for the airbag off indicator light to switch off. the vehicle does not recognize that a passenger is seated in the passenger seat after the vehicle's ignition is turned on, resulting in the continued illumination of the airbag off indicator light. updated 8/9/2006 - *nm

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle had a problem with the fuel pump. the first vehicle was exchanged at the dealer for another vehicle of the same year, make and model after six weeks due to replacement fuel pumps not repairing the problem. the replacement vehicle has also been taken to the dealer for the same problem with the fuel pump.

I recently purchased a 2006 suzuki forenza station wagon, on february 25, 2006 i had an accident which someone ran into my car and i crashed the car/the air bags did not deploy. i think there is a defect in my brand new car. i think the air bags or at least the one on the driver side should of deployed- that is my complaint. *jb

5 weeks into the purchase of my 2006 suzuki forenza it made a loud noise similar to a bad exhaust. then it started to stall while i was stopped. it would stall during the first 10-15 minutes of driving then would be fine. on the third time in service they decided to keep the vehicle, for 2 weeks. so far the stalling has not occurred but the noise has come back. *jb

I have purchased a 2006 suzuki forenza. as a certified crime prevention inspector, i have discovered features of this vehicle that will prove to be a safety concern for any driver/owner of this vehicle. the locks on the vehicle do no operate independently. the driver of the vehicle controls all locking devices on his/her side. an example of this is that the passenger if the vehicle cannot open his/her door if it is locked. the driver has to open the door. in the event that the driver is incapacitated the passenger would have extreme difficulty getting out of the car. also, when the driver unlocks the door all locks open. in the event that there is someone trying to gain unauthorized entry into the vehicle they will be able to do so without difficulty; putting the driver in extreme danger. there is no way for the rear seated passengers to exit the vehicle without the driver unlocking the door. in the event of a fire a passenger would perhaps literally have to break out a window to exit. this would take time and the passenger or passengers may perish. these are extreme safety concerns which i pray will be investigated! *nm

Front passenger airbag seat occupancy sensor is faulty. this code is b1448 sensor/matt fault caused by matt wiring failure. this fault causes the passenger side airbag system to staff off, it also causes the passenger system to read that it does not have an occupant at all times. the main airbag computer reads the system fault and it disables the entire airbag system. no airbag protection at all, and suzuki knows. seams to be a common and known defect in the ocs and seat matt in the passenger seat. suzuki and its dealers are unmoved by the danger that this brings to all its customers. *tr

Rough idling problems / no start problems after owning new 2006 suzuki forenza three days. first time happened at gas station. took four attempts to get car running . happened intermittently. took car to dealership. replaced spark plug and installed new computer. same problems occurred two days later. have had newer problems occur. car on four occasions has almost died while driving, warning lights coming on when they shouldn't. i contacted manufacturer about the rough idle/no start problem. am in process with them now to try to get a refund. problem is thought to be with software glitch downloading improper fuel data into cars computer. rep from manufacturer said software downloaded usage of summer fuel rather than winter which is why i have had the problem with intermittent rough idle , no start, car trying to die while driving. it is my understanding there is a fix for automatics but not for manuals like mine. although rough idle and no start problems are more of an annoyance , the car trying to die is more of a concern which i feel is a safety issue. *jb
