2005-10-17	SEATS:MID/REAR ASSEMBLY	ON CERTAIN MINI VANS EQUIPPED WITH A FOLDING THIRD ROW REAR SEAT, WHEN THE THIRD ROW SEAT IS RAISED FROM ITS STOWED POSITION, IT ENGAGES STRIKER BRACKETS, ONE ON EACH SIDE OF THE SEAT CUSHION. THE FOLD-AWAY STRIKER LOOP IS WELDED TO A MOUNTING BRACKET. THE STRIKER MAY BECOME DETACHED FROM ITS MOUNTING BRACKET DUE TO A BROKEN WELD AT THE POINT OF ATTACHMENT TO THE BRACKET. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE THIRD ROW SEAT STRIKER BRACKETS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 19, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

Remedy: ON EARLIER MODEL VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH JUNE 28, 2004, DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE INBOARD SECOND ROW SEAT ADJUSTMENT HANDLE, RIVET A PLASTIC REINFORCEMENT TO BACKSIDE OF THE EXISTING SEAT BACK COVER CARPETING, INSTALL TIE-DOWNS AND A FLANGE TO THE INBOARD SIDE SHIELD. ON VEHICLES PRODUCED FROM JUNE 29, 2004 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 26, 2005, DEALERS WILL RIVET A PLASTIC REINFORCEMENT TO THE BACKSIDE OF THE EXISTING SEAT BACK COVER CARPETING, INSTALL TIE-DOWNS AND A FLANGE ON THE INBOARD SIDE SHIELD. I have had this vehicle into my local Nissan delears service center several times to have this loss of power diagnosed. They had me replace the ECU first saying it was water corroded. Then it had to be reprogrammed. While reprogramming, they said that it was the catalytic converters. So I went and bought all THREE of those. After that it needed to be programmed for the air/fuel ratio. All of which did nothing. I brought it into a different shop for another opinion. They said it had an issue with the throttle. So since my brother had a spare from another engine, I had that put in, and then it needed a relearn. It ran slightly better afterwards, but still has no power and hesitation at acceleration and up hills, and misfires and backfires a lot. But this other shop led me onto something that I looked into. One of the codes was a timing issue. My brother having the same van told me that he had to replace the timing chain on his, and told me what to listen out for. Which is a rattling noise from the timing cover. Sure enough thats one of the noises I\\\'ve been hearing getting louder and louder. I looked into this, and found that this timing chain issue can cause catastrophic engine failure at any given moment. And that back in 2004 Nissan issued a TSB regarding this issue telling technicians to make a \\\"goodwill adjustment\\\" to push back repairs of this issue until the vehicle was out of warranty. I am very concerned about this problem with my vehicle since learning about what could happen should it fail. I drive my children in that van and bought it because I thought it would be a safe and comfortable vehicle to drive. Apparently not. Nissan Consumer Affairs even told me that they will not cover the cost of repairs. I currently awaiting to hear from a supervisor from them to give them an earful and to find out the reasons why it will not be fixed. This should be a safety recall. If an engine fails on the highway (which we travel almost every day), the engine would cut out leaving the vehicle completely crippled and unable to steer out of the way of any danger. I\\\'m willing to fight this one to the very end because sooner or later someone is going to be injured if not killed in a motor vehicle accident. It\\\'s a shame Nissan doesn\\\'t see the value of potentially saving its customers lives. I\\\'ll never buy another Nissan again, and recommend no one else does either.
