On July 14, 2006, car was flat bedded to dealer. Dealer replaced battery. Picked up vehicle July 15th. July 16th vehicle lost power assist steering and stalled. Could not be restarted. Flat bedded to dealer. On July 17th Sales Manager called, indicated automobile could not be repaired due to a major module problem. I am now in a Dealer rented vehicle. Since I have 9 months left on lease, dealer offered to help release me from my lease. Deal was 3months would be rolled into new lease. Declined offer. Is it true that my gap insurance would go into effect. Also, doesn’t the dealer/mfg. have to either replace car without me having to pay for an auto that is not running due to mfg. defect.

The SAAB took off and crashed into other vehicles in a parking lot. My foot was unquestionably on the brake trying to stop the car as it kept going, only to stop fully when I threw it into park. I have no ax to grind. Property damage only. All this happened at high speed within 12 feet!

I lease a 2004 Saab 93 with only 4,000 miles on it. One morning I was shocked to find out that my parking brake was jammed and would not release. I found out later that this is a known defect which happens under cold temperatures for some Saabs in a certain VIN range. For those owners living in the Northeast like me, cold tempratures are common just about every day between December and March. What they have not been able to clarify is IF this is a known problem, then why are not issuing service bulletins to the customers so they can bring them in voluntary and avoid the extreme inconviniences that go with having this happen at the worst time.It happen to me on the Saturday morning of a storm. They couldn’t tow the vehicle for two days, and I didn’t get this rectified till Tuesday afternoon. In the mean time I incurred my own financial cost for taxi and public transportation to get around. What is worse is Saab gave no explanation for why they aren’t issuing service bulletins or any clarification on the issue which would have atleased eased some of the anxiety surrounding my experience. I wrote a letter to ask why this happened and if it was a common occurance. All I got in response to my written request was effectively a response that read ‘all have been consulted, and we maintain our original position’ with no clarification to my question on why this problem happens and why they are not notifying their owners pro-actively I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I have had 3 different makes of cars in the last 10 years, and would gladly own any of them again. I would never do any business with Saab in the future. New car buyers, please beware of doing business with these guys.
