9-3 SE: Oil leak and after researching on web this is a known problem of oil overheating and causing problems Saab has issued a Technical Service Bulletin in April 2005, so why if this has been happening for years why does Saab or any of the dealer assume responsibility and fix this problem for Saab owners.

Turbo replaced at 28,000 miles due to seal failure…blue smoke on engine start-up. Seems to be a fairly common low mileage failure on late model Saabs (1999? to ??). Had similar failure on previous 1999 Saab 9-5 at 55,000 miles and a friend on his 2001 9-3 at around 30,000 miles. Don\’t recall it being previlant on Saab 900\’s and 9000\’s.

Sludge, Saab is refusing to except maintence records as the car was not maintianed at dealership. The sludge caused the engine to blow. Metal fragments were found, and oil was milky. Oil changes were made according to maintence requirements, Saab would not do maitence even though the mileage was correct, but the 36 months had expired, they were charging $600.00 for a tune up and $180.00 for an oil change, so I elected to have it serviced elsewhere. I have been without a vehicle for over 1 month and have no money to fix the vehicle, as I am a widow and left in poor shape

Engine failure as a result of oil sludge resulting in the need for a new engine. At first Saab tried to tell me that I would be responsible but after some are twisting, they agreed to pay under warranty. 10 days after I got it back, the new engine blew as a result of a defective pulley. Saab wanted to put a third engine in it. I had no peace of mind with the lemon or the dealership. I ended up paying off the remaining 7 months of my lease that week and buying a new car. My claim with Saab Corp wnet nowhere.
