2002 CHRYSLER Concorde

When we were driving to L.A. for Thanksgiving Dinner from Las Vegas our 2002 Chrysler Concorde began to jerk and the RPM’s on it rose real high. After pulling off the rode and expecting to tow it back home 100 or so miles, it cooled down and rested (I guess?) When I started it, it drove ok So we continued to L.A. since we were a little closer to them then home. We took it real easy…50-55mph. It was fine the whole trip until we got a couple blocks from our families house. Started jerking again and the RPM’s rose again. I slowed down to 40 and it stopped. Drove home that evening, took it real easy on the engine. Made it all the way home. Took car to a shop that put it on a machine, said it needed work on the Transmission Computer. Went to a transmission specialist that said it would be around 1800.00 to 2000.00 to fix. Why on earth should I have 2000.00 transmission problems? This is a 2002 Automobile with 57,400 miles on it???

Timing chain went bad. Sludge . Took to dealer severaltimes due to check engine light. They always just replacedmodules at 200.00 a shot. It was my timing chain. Calleddealer to see if there was a silent recall. Told me there was nothing they could do.The oil in my car is changed every 3000 miles and stilltons on sludge was built up. Repair shop where serviced,has seen alot of timing chains on my model year and car gobad. This is a defect I believe.

there is a problem in the engine,i was notified by a mechanic its my timing belt in the engine& order for me to get that fix i would have to change out other parts!

The motor completely stopped working with almost no warning. This car has had EVERY 3000 miles with Mobile One oil only. The day before the motor completely failed (on the way to the mechanic) The oil light flickered on at a red light. It did not stay on. I checked the oil level and it was fine. I called the mechanic and he said to bring it in to run a diagnostic. In less than 6 miles the motor failed. According to the mechanic: the motor is completely “sludged up” It will not start, no oil pressure. The motor has to be rebuilt or replaced. The mechanic is an ASC Master Technician.

the engine seized up and shut down without warning.the cost to replace was 5900.00

Since I purchased this car I have had nothing but problems. The check engine light came on 3 months after I purchased the car. With this Chrysler I have had nothing but problems from this car. I purchased an extended warranty with the car. I have been to the local dealer numerous of times. I have had problems with the engine, transmssion, brakes, sensors and computer controls. I was not aware of all the recalls that Chrysler had out for my kind of car. I do wonder why no one eve contacted me in regards to these problems. I was surfing the net about Chrysler when I noticed it. So the question that I have for Chrysler is willing to do for me. I am still in the car that I owe over 10,000 still on. And right now at this point there is smoke that comes out of the tail pipe. With the check engine light on.

On February the 2nd 2005 I was driving my car back home late in the evening and just 2 blocks away from home on a rainy miserable night I heard a loud squeal and the car died in the middle of the road. There was no check engine light or high temperature or low oil pressure. Today I received a call from the Chrysler dealer informing me about the sludge build up and the $6000 cost of repair. and I need the short block. What was really funny is the Chrysler dealer told they never heard of any thing like that and it is an isolated incident due to lack of maintenance. Oil pressure in engine not sufficient.

My transmission went while i was driving to work one day., in rush hour traffic. I immediately exited, and came home, not sure i was going to get home. I then called my car repair man, and he suggested going to Auto Zone to have it checked, and it was the trasmission, he reset it, and i then went to work, and on my way home it did it again., so I called my dealer, and they said it was out of warranty, and I did not have an extended warranty. They did tell me to come in and they would “see”. Well my experience is that you get it in there, and then it cost twice as much at a dealer. I then took it to a local reputable transmission shop. The took it apart and then called me with the news that it would cost approx. 2000.00., I was extremely upset, and stressed, as i did not have an extra 2000.00 laying around and had to borrow from family. I am now working a part time job to pay back my family, which is even more stressful. I read an article that Chrysler had extended the warranty on the 2002 to 70,000 miles…. i once again called the dealer, and they said no, that my car was not “included” in that warranty period. Also, because I took it “out of the dealership’ they would not help me. I asked for contact names and have filed a complaint with chrysler on this matter.Any help would be appreciated. I would at least like my 2,000.00 back. From what i’ve been reading, I best be trading it in as it could have engine problems as well!!

my oil is light brown my car never ran hot it just died on me 1 day for no reason i take good care of my car my car is in perfect condition on the outside and inside just not under my hood

Motor started rattling at startup, went away after aprox. 30 sec.s Took it in to Carl\’s Repair in Carey Ohio and found out the engine was full of sludge. Carl\’s diagnoses is:(Oil Pressure is 45 lbs. when cold. Drops to less then 10 lbs. after a couple minutes. Noise in engine. Removed valve covers, heads are full of sludge and build up, return passages are plugged. oil pump is worn. chain tensioner is stuck and does not move. Main and rod bearings are worn.)Oil changes were done between 3000 – 3500 miles Reg. Contacted Chrysler dealer and was informed the 2.7 was strictly junk and should have been taken off the market. They said this was a common problem with that engine and it was a bad design.

Missfire of #6 plug due to it being oil fouled.

I purchased my car in December 2003. Within a couple of months on February 19, 2005 the accelerator dropped from 65 MPH to 30 MPH and the car began to jerk violently. We took it to a Chrysler service station at the Northeast Auto Outlet for service and told them the details, including that the engine light had come on. They deemed that there was no problem and that unless it happened while they had the car, they could not identify the problem. This occurred many times and we took it into the service center at Gary Barbera Auto Complex and even let them drive it around for many days. Again, we were told it did not happen to them each time we went there and that they felt there was no problem. On December 19th, the oil light came on and the engine started to make a knocking sound. The car began to slow down and I was lucky to be able to pull over to the side of the road of a major highway. We have been told that the engine seized and that we need to show proof of maintenance or will be liable for any damages once the mechanic begins his diagnosis of the engine. We have since learned about the 2.7L engine problems and feel as though we are victims of this problem. Our car is being kept on the service station until the holidays are over and we can discuss the situation with them. What are our options. Sudden engine failure @ 38,600 with regular oil changes. BUT—according to Impartial Services Group in Dallas Texas, the oil pan was placed in such a position that the heat of the engine causes the oil to thicken before it even enters the engine. They told me that it heats into a peanut buttery thickness and then is fed into the engine. They also told me that their office served to take some of the heat off of Chrysler. Ask them yourself. They answered the phone \"2.7 how may we help you\" Chyrsler 2.7 L is a \"sludgemobile\". Impartial Services Group 2777 N Stemmons Fwy, Dallas, TX 75207-2277 We got such a run around. The service crew at Northeast Auto Outlet was rude and accused us of never changing the oil. My husband and are in our mid-40\’s, we pay $400.00 a month for this car plus insurance, why would we risk ruining our car? The 2.7 Liter is in the Concorde, Sebring & the Dodge Stratus & Intrepid.UPDATE: July 22, 2006 Impartial Services Group: sludge mobile if there ever was one….If they do not offer help, then do what I did. Check with your local police station to find out your rights to hold a protest in front of the nearest Chrysler Dodge dealer. I wrote the Chrysler HQ and advised them of my rights to protest and was determined on doing so at Gary Barbera Chrysler Land in NE Phila., PA. I bought a 2002 Concorde used with 60,000 miles on it and the engine failed due to oil sludge 8 months later. When I replaced the engine with a new one the mechanic said the engine had already been replaced before. The new engine went up as well and another engine was put in and now that engine is starting to do the same thing. If the engine is replaced again that will be the 4th engine in 5 years

Four months after buying this used car the engine seized while I was driving with my small children. Sludge had reportedly caused a total breakdown. My extended service contract will not be honored, citing it was a maintenance issue. I had two oil changes in 12,000 miles during those four months.

Engine seized, due to defect related to oil sludging in this particular Chrysler engine, per mechanic. Oil had been changed on routine basis, every 3000 miles. Wasn’t worth the cost to put new engine in and had to sell it as junk. I still owed $3,500 on the vehicle and was only able to sell it for $200.

Engine loss compression due to oil sludge build up.

Engine locked up, needs new engine 2.7L engine.Won’t run grinds real bad. Took to cert. mechanic and he said that the 2.7L engine was the problem.

Engine failed with no notice. Appears to have started with timing chain tensioner failure. Unknown at this time if Chrysler is going to repair under extended warranty or not. Waiting for answer as I type this complaint. Engine in Car should not fail at 40500 miles under any conditions unless there is a defect in the design of the lub system.

Driving home from work, stopped at a stop sign and the engine quit. No previous indication of a problem. Tried to start the engine numerous times, it would not start. Towed to service station and told I needed a complete new engine.

Car was making loud clunking sound, bucking after stop signs. Check engine light stays on always.Took car into Chrysler dealer, Elk Grove, CA for 60,000 milecheckup. told power steering flush due, fuel induction service due. Told car needed further transmission diagnostic tests.After complaining to dealer about the cost(over $500.00)to fix brakes we went back next day & they \"found\" the coupon we had given them to fix brakes. Price came down a little. On third day we went back & the cost offixing brakes was going to be $139. We took car out of dealer, paid them $679.98 for testing and minor work. Hadbrakes fixed somewhere else. We were furious that fixing the brakes went from over $500. down to $139. with complaints. Car made loud noise, bucked at stop sign (7p.m.) on dark country road and would not goanywhere in any gear, but engine was still going. Coasted over intersection while other cars waited and stopped on side of road. Car was towed into our yard, then towed to a transmission shop in Lodi. New transmission needed at $3100.00; car still there.

Both front wheel bearings needed to be replaced which is very odd for a car with only 25253 miles on it. Went to the dealer and was told parts are not in stock need to wait till next day.Could not wait due to vacation plans so I went to repair shop across the street who got the parts in 20 minutes and made the repair. Contacted chrysler and was told I could not be reimbursed cause I did not have work done at dealer! I had no choice due to vaction plans.

At present car is still running with Engine Check ligh on all the time. Recently had a compression check done on Engine, # 5 Cylinder only putting out 75% should be 125% – 175%, just a matter of time and the Engine is going to fail. Car has had service every 3,000 miles and been treated better than most people treat their kids! Do not have the Sludge Problem yet and am suprised, just a matter of time if the Compression problem doesn’t do the car in first. Every mechanic I’ve spoken with tells me the Engine is not worth repairing, just taking the Engine down to see what’s going on with the #5 Cylinder would be at least $1000.00 and to go any further would be much more money. I heard about this website and thought I would get myself on the record before I have the complete Engine failure which is just a matter of time and when the car does quit I can refer to these remarks sent in on 8 – 27 – 2007. approximately 20k after used purchase, engine failed in rush hour traffic. car has sat since. odometer has rolled forward while car has sat. none of my doing.

2002 Chrysler Concorde Lxi 3.5L V6. Noticed noise from engine, was told at oil change might be serpentine belt. Dealership reported “connecting rod noise and you need a new engine”. Call to DCX customer service was denied due to out of warranty period. However for a $5000 problem I do not accept it is normal for an engine to be replaced at 80,000. So far car runs ok but when will the engine blow like the others I have just read about?

2.7L engine failed due to sludge build up. Engine will need replaced.

While driving down the road, the bearing in the engine suddenly went out. We had it towed to the mechanic immediately and he told us there is nothing that can be done other than replace the engine. The total repair cost listed above is the estimate he gave me for the repairs.

premature engine noise and subsequent failure

My 2002 Chrysler Conorde engine ceased up in the middle of a busy highway on May 17, 2008. I bought my car with a 7 year extended warranty back in July 2002. I maintenanced it faithfully (tune-ups/oil change). Driving along on a main/busy highway the car suddenly stalled and the wheel locked up. It was in a load of traffic and was nearly in an accident. The car was rolled off the road and into the auto shop. They called me the next day to tell me that my engine ceased. The mechanic told me that there was plenty of oil, and he didn’t understand the cause. I was devastated, and i couldn’t understand how this could happen since i have always taken care of it. I had just made my last car payment a few months back and the car only has 53000 miles on it. This is just not right… I’m struggling as it is to make ends meet, and my car is back at the repair shop because its not running properly..HELP!!

Low oil pressure due to thick gummy oil which caused the piston rod to throw

I bought a 2002 Chrysler Concorde from a dealer in my area with about 127,000 miles on it and after about 2 months started having problems. I have had the exhaust problem fixed but not so worried about some of the minor repairs like the window motors. Also the car horn has never worked and the interior lights come on randomly when driving. I couldn’t afford the have the leak fixed with the air conditioner so I just payed $50.00 to have fluid put in it to last me the rest of the summer. Then the ultimate happened that topped it all off, it started hesitating in the middle of the road and I pulled over and turned it off and it wouldn’t crank back. After having it towed in, I find it it has a blown head gasket which will cost me a ton to repair and now I am out of a vehicle and have no trade in even so I can get something else. It’s definitely been a lemon! Please help.

This car has an ongoing recall for seat recliner bolts. i was driving and all of the sudden the seat back went flat and i fell backwards while driving. this will be the 4th time the seat belt recliner bolt broke. i believe i am due financial restitution even though i did not get injured or worse i could have killed someone at highway speeds. i was on a city street at 40mph when this happened.

After backing our car out of the carport, we noticed a long thin piece of corroded metal laying on the ground. i got under the car and found that the fuel tank retaining straps were severely corroded, the one on the left side of the car had holes completely corroded through. the suspension components have heavy surface corrosion as well. i feel that if the automotive manufactures continue to use metal fuel tank retaining straps they should encase them in a non corrosive material. this would reduce the effects of corrosion and chafing of the fuel tank, this is a high vibration area. i contacted chrysler via e-mail, their response was,( unfortunately we are unable to diagnose the situations you have outlined in your e-mail). i then contacted chrysler by phone and told the representative about my situation. he told me due to the age of the car and the mileage that there was nothing they could do. at that point i asked him if i could speak to a supervisor, he told me at that time they were not available and that they would call me back. i never received a call back, however i did receive a customer survey on my e-mail account. with this being a dangerous safety issue i could not wait for chrysler's response. i replace the fuel tank straps myself, i found replacement straps at a local auto parts store. i have reviewed this dot web site on previous complaints with this model, make and year automobile. found nothing in regards to the fuel tank straps. i did find a service bulletin issued by chrysler on the transmission control module which we had replaced a few years ago. this was an very expensive repair, we were never notified of the service bulletin. another complaint from a customer about loss of tire pressure a safety issue as well. we also experienced this, the tires had to be removed from the rim and the mating surface of the rim to tire cleaned. *tr

2002 chrysler concorde 2.7l engine. engine noise due to excess sludge build up in engine even though suggested maintenance routine was followed performing oil changes at proper intervals. clio michigan chrysler dealership maintenance technician suggested a total engine rebuild or a used engine replacement at a cost of more than 3000.00 dollars even though the engine has only 73774 miles of normal driving use. upon further investigation it was discovered that there have been numerous complaints and subsequent class action lawsuits filed against daimler chrysler corporation as a result of premature failure of the 2.7l engine manufactured by the chrysler corporation. i then filed a formal complaint with the chrysler corporation in regard to the engine noise and possible premature failure and suggested repair cost and as of his date have not been contacted by the said corporation. *tr

Beginning in 2005, the airbag light on our chrysler concorde dashboard began intermittent on/off while driving. the problem persisted, but knowing it was out of warranty and how difficult electrical problems are, we ignored it. finally it remained on in 2006 and in 2010 we had the airbag module replaced by our dealer. the repaired failed and now seems to be a defective wiring harness. the car remains at the dealer. the pare is unavailable and the cost could be thousands for a car worth 7k. has chrysler had problems with this module or harness that could have be a safety recall? *tr

2002 chrysler concorde. driver's seat back suddenly reclined. the seat back will not stay up. chrysler recall c04 (nhtsa campaign number 03v035000 had allegedly been performed on this vehicle by the selling dealer, laflam chryler in runnemede, nj, on feb 20, 2007. this recall is supposed to entail replacement of the seat bolt assembly to prevent this problem. i am the original owner. *tr

I was driving my concorde home from work a week before christmas and as i turned on the ramp to get off the highway at the bottom of the ramp my car just quit running, no sign of a problem at all with it being such a large vehicle it is very hard to control the steering. i was really thankful that it did not happen on the main highway because i was in the middle lane most of the way home and could have been rear ended and seriously hurt. i would like to know what the customers can do to get reimbursed fully or partially for the repairs since they know that they have a big problem with the engines. i had to have my engine replaced and so i paid for an engine & labor. also this past summer mine and a friend of mines air conditioner went out, another problem that they have swept under the rug. please e-mail me and let me know what we as the customers can do to get reimbursed for the parts and labor to get our vehicles fixed. thanks for your help in this matter. *tr

1. since i purchased the vehicle all lighting, interior dash, headlamps, etc. have a "flickering" or "pulsing" effect. over time, this has increased. the vehicle, an 02 chrys concorde, has only 26k mi and was purchased new. this flickering of lighting has worsened to the point that it bothers other motorists. 2. this condition is constant. the vehicle will not start when left 24 hrs without running. vehicle stalled on an interstate, immediately put in neutral and attempted to start, negative. all lighting ceased to function prior to being able to fully stop the vehicle. 4-way-flashers failed to function while on shoulder and my vehicle was nearly struck by another motorist. 3. this is clearly a factory defect with the electrical system. not sure what the problem is. diagnosis of the all systems were normal with the exception of "excessive ripple" noted for the recharging system. persons testing vehicle did not have an adequate explanation for this "excessive ripple" but were willing to sell me a new alternator that may or may not fix the problem. battery (original) was reportedly still good but needed recharging. i found the ground from engine to remote negative terminal severed in half--it runs right over the catalytic converter. i think originally, it may have been touching the converter. it was brittle and greenish oxidized color (i still have a piece of it). i am planning to try a new alternator in the very near future and i will hang onto the old one. *tr

Rear seat belts (3) do not catch when i pull on them suddenly. i did not have any incident that caused me to check them. i understand seat belts are warranted for the life of the car so that they can be repaired without cost. the car is 2002 chrysler concorde. it has approx. 64,000 miles and i am the original owner. *tr

I got to work this morning 4/18/2008 8:15 and turned in the parking lot and couldn't steer the ...wheel. enough is enough. this is my 3rd car i have bought from chrysler and i am fed up. the third time has not been the charm. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chrysler concorde. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle jerked and then shut off without warning. approximately ten minutes later, the contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, it shut off again. the dealer stated that a defective part in the engine caused the vehicle to overheat. the dealer repaired the vehicle, but the failure continued. as of november 21, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. the failure mileage was 88,000 and current mileage was 90,000.

I just got off the highway. while i was parking the vehicle i heard popping noise under the hood and i completely lost steering. the bolts holding the inner rods and rack and pinion broke off. after some research i found out that this is very common problem for this line of chrysler vehicles. i called chrysler customer service. they claim that this is not their problem because the car is not under manufacture warranty.. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated while cruising 65 mph on the highway under normal road conditions, the oil light illuminated, and the engine made a clunking sound before the engine stalled. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the engine had a 90 degree turn, and a buildup of oil sludge. the dealer was notified and determined that the vin # did not fit under a recall. the vehicle had not been repaired. there are other complaints similar to this such as odi id #10109198.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 30 mph, the vehicle was involved in a collision, rear-ending a commercial truck. the airbags did not deploy. the driver was taken to the hospital with jaw fractures, missing teeth, and cardiac injuries. a police report was taken, and the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was taken to a private repair shop, where the cause of the problem was unable to be determined.

Complete loss of transmission. this transmission has been properly taken care of -two fluid changes; when i went to get it repaired at the dodge dealership i was advised there were so many parts on back order for this problem that it would be a month or better to get the transmission repaired. total replacement became necessary. my opinion is -if there are so many on "back ordered " that it will take a month or more to fix the transmission this is a major problem across the fleet...one i should not completely pay for. *nm

While traveling from baltimore to burlington, vt the air bag warning light came on. i called the local dealer and it took several days for an appointment. after paying a $72 fee for a diagnosis, i was told the passenger air bag was inoperative due to an "electronic" failure, but parts were not available and had to be ordered and i am still driving with an inoperative air bag that when (and if) the part arrives will cost me several hundred dollars more to fix. i contacted the chrysler hotline and was disappointed by what seemed indifference to safety issues like this. *jb

Aluminum rim tires on 2002 chrysler concorde develop leaks along seal with tire bead. leads to slow leak and resulting low pressure tire. i was told by goodyear service center that this is common problem with these chrysler aluminum wheels. to extent that someone does not notice tire loss of pressure, driving with severely underinflated tire could result in catastrophic tire failure. i have taken tire in for service - (remove tire and clean rim) but it is still leaking. i view this as a manufacturing or design defect, the rim should not fail to hold pressure. *nm

Bought the car used from copper city dodge in rome ny. check engine light was on when test driven. were reassured it would be good when we took delivery. after about two weeks light was back. dealer said it was bad gas cap and fixed. about two weeks or so it was back on. dealer said it needed to be reset, fixed. about two weeks it was back. dealer said it was evap canister, rollover valve and an emissions valve, claimed fixed, charged us about $400. about two weeks or so it was back again. dealer said it was a bad fuel pump would be about $700. took car to usual family mechanic who had to replace everything dealer claimed to have replaced. our mechanic said it all tested bad. after a month or so light was back on. car runs ok but check engine light won't go away. this has been an ongoing problem since we've owned the car. called chrysler and was told we'd have to work it out with the dealer. i will not pay the dealer another red cent to fix a problem that's been there since we took delivery. i should have never paid them for repairs to begin with. *nm

Dt*: the contact stated without warning at 55 mph the engine stopped. the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop, which determined there was sludge in the oil and the engine needed to be replaced.

Dt*: the contact stated the automatic transmission would not shift properly at 40mph which caused the vehicle to stall and operate at a reduced speed. the transmission light on the dash panel illuminated afterwards. the vehicle was seen by a dealer. the service department cleared the failure code and the light no longer illuminated. afterwards the problem persisted. the vehicle was seen by an independent transmission repair shop. the mechanic suggested replacing the valve pan or the transmission would lock up. the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and relinquished any ownership of the vehicle.

Dt: the contact stated while vehicle was parked it caught on fire. the fire started in the battery. there was damage to the right front fender. there were no prior problems with the vehicle. police and fire department reports were taken. the vehicle has not been inspected by the service dealer. additionally, there has been no contact with the manufacturer of the battery.*ak

Dt*: the contact stated while parked the vehicle's engine stalled. the vehicle was towed to the dealership after numerous attempts of trying to start the vehicle. the dealership determined the failure is due to sludge in the engine and tension on the timing chain. there were no warning signals indicating a problem with the vehicle before this incident.

Dt: the contact stated vehicle down shifted from 55 to 20 mph. when this happened she pulled over,turned the vehicle off, and restarted it. if the vehicle was not restarted it would continue to go only 20 mph. the dealership stated the transmission solenoid switch valve was latched in the lr position. this was not covered in the warranty, and no repairs have been done by contact despite the expense. *ak

I purchased a 2002 used concorde with around 40,000 miles. four months, two oil changes, and 12,000 miles later the engine seized / timing chain broke. myself and my children were uninjured. the estimate for repairs is at $5,692. the dealership and the consumer protection service contract provider are insisting this is due to lack of maintenance and will not cover the repairs. my mechanic informed me this is a common problem with this engine. after looking at it he said it was not due to lack of maintenance on my part, although i could have changed the oil more frequently. he said sludge build up is a known issue with this engine. although i did not change it every 3,000 miles, i did change it within the 7,500 miles suggested in my owners manual. *nm

August 2005, my chrysler concord's oil was changed by the dealership, twelve days later my cars engine was knocking loudly, the dealership told me i let the oil run low (which i had not)and sludge was also a problem within the lower engine. they changed the oil again for free, and flushed the sludge from the engine, at my cost. now two months later my cars engine is blown up from the sludge problem in the engine. the dealership park dodge @ 301-737-0088 is quoting me 7,500 to replace the engine. i owe 6,000 on the vehicle which is my final 12 months of payments. my engine has 88,000 miles on it and has been taken very good care of. i have been told four times by the service representative and a salesmen these 2.7 concord engines have a bad sludge problem which causes each engine to be replaced. they stated chrysler is not owning up to the problem. *nm

Dt: 2002 chrysler concord lx. consumer complained of an engine failure. it first started by the engine knocking and light colored smoke from the tail pipe. the car was maintained with oil changes every 3000 miles. took t vehicle o dealer, and they said it was not under warranty. then engine specialist said vehicl needed a brand new engine at the cost of $5500.*ak i was told by the engine specialist that there is defect in the oil pump and it will not maintain oil pressure and this causes oil sludge and this in turn locks the engine up. i have only owned the car 7 months i bought it used and i still owe $9000. on this car now. i have did research on the internet and found at least 900 other cases of this problem.

We purchased 2002 chrysler concorde limited in december 2004. the vehicle had 36,000 miles and ran great. three months later the engine light indicator comes on and the needs service performed indicator. we take the car to the mechnaic ask them to perform a diagnostic check. the diagnostic results concluded that the engine light was on due to code number p0740 (tcc solenoid circuit fault on the transmission, associated with the solanid of the transmission. the mechanic advised us to contact chrysler regarding the power train that he thought was under warranty for 5 years/50,000 miles or 7 years/70,000 miles. we contacted chrysler dealership who first said the pwer train was under warranty of 5 years/50,000 miles. the day prior to having the car towed to the dealership called to remind that car was being towed the next morning the mechanic on duty looked up power train warranty and determined that the power train warranty was 3 years/36,000 miles. we had the car taken to aamoco transmisions and county transmission who both concluded that the transmission needs to be rebuilt or replaced and the cost is over $2,000. i am outraged. i am looking for something that clearly provides the details of the power train warranty. i also want to know why the warranty on the powertrain for 2003 models were increased to 5 years/50,00 miles.

I was driving to work, and transmission skipped, making noises, so drove home, and checked with repair man, indicated was transmission., called dealer, they said was out of warranty (3yrs, 36k miles), and i had 43000. they wanted me to bring it in, and my experience is you bring it there, and it cost twice as much., so i took it elsewhere, and then i saw a internet site that said they extended the warranty on the 2002's to 70k, and i had already had the work done by then by someone out of chrysler., they still said it would not have been covered., but that isnt how the website read with their article., i'm still looking for relief of $2000.00 for the transmission.*ak

Strut striker cap (front) is squeaking when there is a jounce at 5-8 mph. this is exactly like the nhtsa item # 10000901 which is a rear strut stiker cap problem.*ak

While driving at any speed vehicle vibrated uncontrollably. the consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection. mechanic determined that brake pads needed to be replaced. *ak the brake pads were worn and the rotors were warped. *nm

Vehicle was involved in a side impact collision. vehicle is equipped with side air bags. manufacturer states insufficient force present to deploy airbags. force of impact caused vehicle to spin and roll after contacting ditch. vehicle was traveling approximately 40 mph when struck by other vehicle going approximately 30 mph. damage to all sides of the car, roof, and undercarriage. car was declared a total loss.

Consumer had to use excessive force to remove the wheels from vehicle, the lug nuts unscrewed normally, however a sledge hammer had to be used to remove the wheels.*jb *ts

I purchased a 2002 chrysler concorde lx in february of 2005 and it was serviced at a key chrysler dodge and jeep in xenia oh twice in march of 2005 for an internal oil leak which is now a recurring problem which is going to cost me at least 6500 dollars to fix!!!! chrysler has no intentions on helping to fix my car! i still have a car payment with no car. this is very disturbing to me. being that the oil leak couldn't of been fixed i can't possibly understand why they won't just fix the car. with several attempts to come to some type of agreement i have been unsuccessful. if anyone has any help as to how i can get my car fixed please let me know. *nm

The reflection of the light colored dash on the windshield is so bad that at times it is very difficult to see road signs and other traffic. a dark colored dash on this vehicle type is essential and a modification should be made as soon as possible.

Vehicle is difficult to maintain in lane. sways as though it is constantly in high wind. driver must remain constantly vigilant to maintain lane. feels unsafe.*ak

Abc news primetime tested the gen-3 seatbelt latch used by chrysler with 14 other seatbelts over 380 times. gen-3 failed everytime and other seatbelts passed every time. chrysler lost $6 million dollar lawsuit over this seatbelt, yet not recalled. still in millions of chrysler/dodge/jeep vehicles. please test and recall!*ak
