2001-02-01	AIR BAGS:FRONTAL	VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER, SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES AND MINIVANS. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR MODULES WERE BUILT WITHOUT THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF GENERANT, WHICH PRODUCES THE GAS THAT FILLS THE AIR BAG. SOME WERE BUILT WITH A DOUBLE LOAD OF GENERANT AND SOME WERE BUILT WITHOUT GENERANT. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE. 2001-03-08	LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH	VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MINIVANS EQUIPPED WITH PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOORS. THE DOOR CLOSES BUT MAY NOT BE LATCHED. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE POWER SLIDING DOOR CAN OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE VEHICLE ASCENDS A HILL, MAKES A TURN, OR TRAVELS OVER A ROUGH ROAD SURFACE. 2009-02-17	STEERING	DORMAN IS RECALLING 979 STEERING KNUCKLES, DORMAN P/NOS. 697-902 AND 697-903, SOLD UNDER DORMAN’S “OE SOLUTIONSTM” BRAND NAME, AND NAPA P/NOS. 7-8502 AND 7-8503 WHICH WERE SOLD FOR REPLACEMENT USE ON THE VARIOUS VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. A POTENTIAL MATERIAL OR DESIGN DEFECT COULD RESULT IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE BREAKING IN THE HUB AREA. THE UNIVERSAL PRESSURE REGULATORS (UPR) WERE PRODUCED WITHOUT AN O’RING AND RETAINER. Remedy: DELPHI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE UPR FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 23, 2007. 2004-12-22	LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH	ON CERTAIN MINIVANS EQUIPPED WITH SECOND-ROW BUCKET SEATS OR CAPTAIN’S CHAIRS AND A POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, A PASSENGER USING THE INTERIOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE POWER SLIDING DOOR COULD BE INJURED. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE POWER SLIDING DOOR INTERIOR HANDLE ON THE PASSENGER-SIDE. IF THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A POWER OR MANUAL SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER-SIDE, THE INTERIOR HANDLE WILL ALSO BE REPLACED FOR APPEARANCE REASONS. NOTE: BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS SERVICED, GM ADVISES OWNERS TO NOT USE THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE DRIVER CAN OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR FROM SWITCHES AT THE DRIVER’S POSITION OR BY USING THE REMOTE KEY FOB. Van purchased from Performance Auto (PA) on July 26, 2003, just before PA was bought by Chandler Lee. Car door fluctuated in performance on day of sale, as noticed by one salesperson and one mechanic, but appeared to have corrected itself by the time van was driven off the lot. No one told me there was a recall on a door part for the Montana van, or I would have looked at the situation more intensely before buying the car. In the following days it became apparent that door was not O.K. and vehicle was returned to dealer, which by now was “Chandler-Lee”. (Repairs had been closed the week before due to change over, hence delay in returning the car) After inspection I was advised that a “recall part” was replaced and the door was adjusted. Seemed to be O.K. Following weeks became apparent that passenger back power door was still not closing properly. Brought back in and informed Chandler Lee Auto of situation and said there was also a rubber item which may be blocking the door. Dealership looked at car and said they were taking no responsibility for cars purchased through Performance; said the problem was “no electricity to door” (door had electric when brought in);and gave back car with no mention of removal of rubber strip in door frame. Customer (me) went outside to leave with van since I did not have the $200 deductible they told me that I would have to pay, at a minimum, if the extended warranty covered fixing – but no guarentee. Found that a 4 foot rubber strip had been removed from the door frame. When I inquired, they just reiterated that the problem was that there was no power to the door (sure, after they messed with it!) and did I want the rubber piece they removed from the door? Owner and manager will take no responsibility. Have spoken to both, as well as GM Customer Service.Performance Auto (out of business) says it was working when they sold it (not a true statement) and they are in receivership and will not pay for repairs. Extended warranty may or may not pay for repair, no quarantee – My point is that it was not working properly when I bought it; is a safety hazaard since the back passenger power door will not open or close properly and should be repaired by the manufacturer or Performance. Also, Chandle Lee screwed things up when they took out the long rubber strip without telling me and then blamed things on “no electricity to the door” – sure, not after they forced it open to take out the rubber strip!! Manager of Chandler Lee had the nerve to tell me, after two calls of complaint to them, that I had told him there was no power to the door (major lie) My statement was that it would absolutely not open now, and appreared to have a rubber piece in the door frame. (before the problem was not opening and closing properly, but the situation deteriorated)There was no mention from me about the lack of electricity to the door because there was power the night before.Now what?Theresa Arney202-357-3515 (w) 410-768-3669 (home)
