FUEL MAY LEAK FROM THE FILTER DUE TO NON-CONFORMING BRAZING WELDS WHERE THE INLET TUBE IS CONNECTED TO THE FILTER CAN.

Remedy:

azda 626’s drive like this (transmission slipping/overruning in gear). In addition, I was told to keep a journal of everytime this happened. That would be a problem, writing and driving at the same time.Again, returned the vehicle back to Magnussen’s and met with a different svc manager. Here it is April 2002, and I was told that the transmission tech was going to run a special test on the car (line pressure check at idle and stall speeds). Sure enough, I was right! The test indicated that there was a definite problem with the transmission.After driving the vehicle out of the dealerships lot, the car was (and is) running worse than ever. The second transmission is worse than the first. I return the car and the car stays there for another week.I picked up the car on April 26, 2002, (running worse) and drove to Vacaville about 100 miles one way from where I was living. I felt something funny under the hood and drove into Vacaville and found a Mazda dealership. I explained the problem of the transmission and engine. They stated that there was a problem with the mounts and the car needed new mounts.On April 29, 2002 the car was towed back to Magnussen’s and Magnussen’s called in for a Mazda Rep to look at the car. On May 1, 2002, I spoke with the rep on the phone and he said that he compared my vehcile to a 2002 model and could not find anything wrong.On May 4, 2002 , I headed back to Magnussen’s to pick up the car. After being told that the car was test drive city and highway, I started the car. Amazing, the odometer had the same reading on April 29th as the reading on May 4, 2002.Again, frustrated and being lied to. The car was left there for almost another week.My fiance returned the rental car, and drove back the 626 to Vacaville.In June 2002, I brought the car to the Green Valley dealership in Fairfield and explained the problem to the service manager and demonstrated the problem to the serv tech . He was aware of the transmission problem.Again, after being in the shop for about seven days, I pick up the car. Why they put in new wires is beyond me. Apparently, they replaced the mounts, yet Magnussen’s and the Mazda rep said there wasn’t a problem with the mounts (who do I believe and who do I trust?).I start the car, and the car is running worse with the engine, and now I have a strong vibration/shake in the car that wasn’t there before. And the transmission wasn’t even addressed. Mr. Hennesy told me to put a thousand miles on the car and that should stop the car from vibrating and shaking.Again, I return the car in August 2002. The car still runs bad and they say the can’t find anything wrong.November 2, 2002, I asked if one of the technicians at Midas could test drive the car and give me some input. Scott, drove the car in the city and then drove the car on the highway. When Scott returned, he popped the hood and took a flashlight over the mounts and showed me that the mounts appear to be new, yet worn.Scott also said (which I have documented):Took vehicle on test drive, found the following: shift overrun in all gears, slipping while hard acceleration. Front motor mount worn , although apperas to be new. Recommend vehicle not to be driven to avoid further transmission damage due to slipping transmssion. Recommend dealer for possible waranty repairs.At this point, I have yet to hear a response from Mazda (letter written August 31, 2002 , along with all the repair orders).March 26, 2003 I drove the car to the Diablo Mazda dealership for a line pressure check. And sure enough, in black and white, the results indicate that there is a problem with the transmission. Not only do I have the results, but I also have the information Mazda puts out regarding the line pressure check itself and where the specs should be at both idle and stall speeds.In May of this year, I called on over to Green Valley, and spoke with John Hennesy, and asked if they conducted a line pressure check last year. Sure enough, on August 19, 2002, a line pressure check was done, and the specs are out of range. The line pressure check that was done August 19, 2002 was bad, and the results of the line pressure check done on March 26, 2003 are worse. I called Mr. Hennesy back, and upon my review, why I wasn’t given this information last year, and why this wasn’t brought to his attention. Mr. Hennesy was to get back to me, but he has not. Embarrassed, I don’t know. But I have a car in my garage that is not safe to drive.At this point, I spoke with Ms. Tucker at Mazda, she suggests that I meet with a Mazda Rep. On May 29, 2003, I met with Mr. Jim Hancock (the Mazda Rep) at the Vacaville Mazda dealership. Mr. Hancock drove the car for a test drive. Mr Hancock tells me that this is normal. The transmission reacts this way depending on who drives the car (yeah, right). The car is supposed to drive like this (yeah right). Mr. Hancock told me to drop the car off on Monday and a line pressure check would be done.I told Mr. Hancock that I attempted to have a line pressure check there, yet I was told they didn’t have the equipment. Apparently, now they have the equipment. I left the Mazda spec pages with the service department (how to conduct a line pressure check, and where the range (psi) should be. I pick the car up the following day, and my results are on the copies I left (line pressure check). Guess what, the specs are okay. Strange, how can the two previous specs (and especially within 2 months) show a problem with the transmission, and this dealership (after meeting with the rep) shows an okay reading?At this point I am disgusted and stressed to the maximum level of stress. I made a phone call to KCRA TV, Call 3 .On Tuesday, June 2, 2003, I spoke with a Call 3 taker. Mr. Barrie Tuesday took my complaint. Evey Tuesday we kept in touch regarding the situation. Finally my situation was taken seriously, and my story was aired on September 19, 2003. I also kept in touch with Mr. Flores of the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. Mr. Flores told me that in order for me to get my money back, I would have to take Mazda to court.I also spoke with Mr. Paul Winovitch (Compliance Dept. within Mazda) on two occasions. Apparently, Linda Tucker works with Mr. Winovitch, and Ms Tucker was to have the complete file from last year and most recently, the Mazda Line Pressure Checks from last year and this March. Mr. Winovitch, didn’t have this info, so I fax’d this to him.Ms. Tucker on the other hand, said that based on Mr. Hancock driving the vehicle, Mazda can’t help me. I said to her that the line pressure results from last August and this March do indicate a problem (no difference from when Magnussen’s ran a line pressure check, and that was why they replaced the transmission). Either I have the same transmission in the car, and was told that another transmission was replaced (rebuilt mfgd transmission), or I have another lemon of a transmission. In addition, there are 13 service bulletins on this car, including the engine running rough, and transmission having a problem when braking to shifting.I am disgusted and should have done more homework, before purchasing this lemon. I did buy this vehicle in good faith , because consumer reports recommended this car. I was looking for a safe vehicle. Funny, after looking online and reading consumer’s comments, including from the NHTSA , this car is not safe:From airbags no deploying, seat belts not working, engine and transmission problems, including transmissions burning up.I can’t even trade the car in, let alone, sell to a private party knowing this car is not safe.I do not have my own car to drive. Luckily I am able to borrow a car.
