1994 FORD Contour

I do not know the exact dates because I have not kept the detailed records, but around 55,000 I had to replace spark plugs and less than 6,000 miles later I had to replace spark plug wires. ABout 65,000 I had to replace both again. Around 75,000 the serpentine belt was replaced and at 88,000 miles the water pump and timing belt was replaced. Nearing 90,000 the rear brakes were replaced and most recently in the summer of 2004 the wheel cylinder burst on the rear driver’s side and at 115,000 the rear brakes and front brakes were replaced. It has also had a set of new drums since owning it in 1999 and now I am told that the water pump, which has less than 30,000 miles on it is leaking and will need to be replaced. The timing chain and water pump repair was over $500.00 as was the wheel cylinder and brakes all the way around. I estimate, in addition to the used car price of $10,000, I have paid in excess of $2500.00 in repairs since purchasing this car in 1999. To own a vehicle for six years that is upkeep of nearly $500 a year and my wives older 1986 Grand Am has had maybe $500 of repairs since the late ’90’s! I will NEVER purchase another Ford product again and would be very interested in any class action lawsuit against Ford Company in general for their inferior products.

passenger air bag light flashing affraid to drive it. weird smell coming from vents

Dashboard has started pealing up from windshield. *ak

While traveling on the highway without prior warning smoke was coming in though the vent locate inside of the dashboard. please fill in additional information. dealer is aware of the problem. *nlm

Fuel injection/o-rings are leaking fuel from fuel injection system. please give any further details.*ak

Engine overheated/ burned up and fan never came on. consumer stated that there was recall 00s/00m13 concerning engine cooling fan.*ak the dealer wanted the consumer to pay $4922.90 for engine repair. the consumer claimed that the cooling fan which caused the damage to the engine was on recall and repair expense should be paid by the manufacturer. further more, it was also discovered that the cooling fans failure was it self caused by a blown up fuse. *yh

Transmission was leaking fluid from underneath the hood, and gears were stuck. *ak

While making a right or left turn sterring wheel would delay return for normal driving. please provide further information. *ak

The evaportor for the air conditioner fails to work properly. the compressor is now freezing up. this happens every year. consumer is taking vehicle to the dealer to have it checked. mjs

Three of the four windows which are electric do not function. the regulators have been replaced on all 4 windows once. the regulator on the driver's side window has been replaced twice. please provide any further information. *ak

Manufacturered battery that is in this vehicle is the wrong one according to the manual. dealer has been contacted. *ak

Wire within the firewall chafed against bracket, causing the ignition coil to short circuit through the computer which controls the engine. *ak

While driving, transmission would jump into neutral and back into gear, causing vehicle to lose speed while driving. dealer notified ,and informed repairs would be made at the cost to consumer. *ak
