While removing packages from rear of van, liftgate assembly support bolt snapped without warning, causing heavy tailgate to crash down on head and shoulders.Injuries were not severe, as I am tall and liftgate didn’t have too far to fall…bumps and bruises only. Had it been a small child it could have been severe or fatal.Contacted Chrysler who sent a photographer out to take pictures. Not a mechanic, a photographer. Did not even know how liftgate worked or which end of support went where. Took pictures of broken bolt and car which had never been in an accident. I was present during entire photographic session.Chrysler then claimed that they had done a “thorough inspection” and found that they were not at fault and were unwilling to pay for any injuries or damage to car caused by bolt failure. Also stated there is NO appeal, and they will NOT release information on which they based their decision. Photographer shot exactly what I had described to Chrysler. They clearly sent him only to pretend they had “inspected” the vehicle, and never had any intention of taking responsibility under any circumstances.Found lift support system was involved in a recall years ago, and that this vehicle had been recalled for that very reason. Yet still the bolt failed, and is obviously inadequate to support heavy liftgate for life of vehicle, creating a “mousetrap” which can spring at any time. This is an extremely dangerous situation, and Chrysler has proved to be extremely disingenuous and dishonest in dealing with it. I am extremely disturbed by their dishonest response, and their pretense of having done a “thorough inspection”.

Two Things. My brakes seem to be going “downhill” again. The ABS unit has been replaced 3 or 4 times already. I ‘ve owned the car since ’93 and have probably had to pay on some of the earlier ABS repairs. My vehicle is white with simulated wood on sides. I frequently see white Chrysler vehicles of this period where the white paint has come off in strips – mainly hood and roof, like mine. I’ve been using spray paint but I’m starting to get rust. I have complained for years and the Dealership has said it’s not their problem. Now I’m thinking that I should file a suit in small claims court to get vehicle repainted. It really pisses me off that some have been able to get the paint fixed whereas most have not. It’s CLEARLY a defect. Dealership refused to pay for car rentals when having ABS units replaced.

The ABS light came on I brought the car to the dealership to ask about it and get a tune up, they said the brakes were ok. 2 weeks later the brakes went out, I brought it in to get fixed and they said the pump, actuator, and other components needed to be repalaced, they said there was no recall and it would cost$ 3,480.00 I went home and looked it up on the internet I told them what I found, they said there was no recall again. I have not fixed the car, I don’t have that much money. They are charging me for every day that my car sits there.

I have had numerous problems with the ABS system ever since buying this van. There was a recall on the ABS motor pump and everytime it goes out and I bring it to a dealer, they will not take any responsibility for it and claim that isn’t the problem. Yet, a few weeks later out it goes again. The ABS lights come on and I lose the brakes. They will not take any responsibility for this even though it is a safety issue. I am still having the same problem all over again right now and no on will do anything to help me.

My complaint is about the anti-lock brake system. The mini-van is in fair condition and is not usable now because of the brakes. The pump electric pump, master cylinder and other components are integrated into one unit. The pump failed in February and I had to replace it at a cost of $850.00. I took it back to the dealer this Monday after the brakes failed again and now they say the master cylinder part has failed and will cost 3500.00 to make further repairs. I declined to make the repair, but now I am stuck with a car that is worthless even as a trade. Is there anything that can be done?
