Takata airbags: About 1.5 million vehicles listed in Canada

The Center for Auto Safety is the nation’s premier independent, member driven, non-profit consumer advocacy organization dedicated to improving vehicle safety, quality, and fuel economy on behalf of all drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.


The absolute number of recalls in Canada in connection with Takata airbags is unclear, but a Transport Canada site listing recalls from automakers adds up to more than 1.5 million vehicles. 

Takata airbag inflators can explode and send metal fragments into the passenger compartment.

Transport Canada has posted a new database of Canadian carsaffected, listing models from Honda, Mazda, General Motors, Toyota, BMW, Nissan, Ford and Fiat Chrysler.
