Hyundai Kia 2.0 and 2.4L GDI Class Action Settlements

The following information is provided as a consumer alert from the Center for Auto Safety.
Current and former owners of 2011-2019 Hyundai and Kia vehicles with 2.0L and 2.4L GDI engines may be eligible for certain benefits as a result of class action settlements.
Benefits include the following:
- Warranty Extension
- Reimbursement for Past Repairs
- Reimbursement for Rental Cars, Towing, Etc.
- Compensation If You Sold or Traded-In a Class Vehicle
- Compensation for Vehicle involved in Engine Fire
- Rebate Program
Please visit the settlement website corresponding to your manufacturer below and review the FAQ before submitting a claim.
It is not necessary to submit a Claim Form to benefit from the Lifetime Warranty, so long as you have installed the Knock Sensor Detection System Update.
The “Class Vehicles” are 2011-2018 and certain 2019 model year Kia Optima, 2012-2019 model year Kia Sorento, and 2012-2018 and certain 2019 model year Kia Sportage vehicles equipped with 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter genuine Theta II gasoline direct injection engines within OEM specifications.

If you still own a qualifying vehicle, contact your dealer or Kia customer service to ensure that you have had the Knock Sensor Detection System installed. Otherwise, you will not qualify for the engine extended warranty.
The “Class Vehicles” are 2011–2019 model year Hyundai Sonata, 2013–2019 model year Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and 2014–2015 and 2018–2019 model year Hyundai Tucson equipped with 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter genuine Theta II gasoline direct injection engines within OEM specifications.

You can visit https://autoservice.hyundaiusa.com/campaignhome to determine if KSDS (also referred to as Service Campaign 953) has been completed on your vehicle. After you input your VIN, the system will notify you if KSDS has been completed or not. If it has not, please make an appointment with your nearest Hyundai dealership.
