My passenger airbag light will not go off even when no one is sitting in the seat

The Headlights on our 2015 Nissan Altima have always been really dim and have gotten worse each year we have owned it. We have tried replacing the bulbs whith one’s that were suppose to be brighter buy they did not help. I understand from our Nissan Dealership that it is a major complaint and is the headlight assembly and it is not covered by our extended warranty. I even contacted Nissan about the issue , however, they do not want to do anything about it. It is extremely dangerous when driving

When driving the 2015 Nissan Altima and stopping at a stop light sometimes it will not accelerate! It just sits there even
tho I am pushing on the gas pedal! very scary to drive this vehicle.

Tpms turning by itself. Lithia nissan of clovis doenst want to check the sensor they said that because of the cold or hot weather the tpms light turn on. I checked air mesesrunent in book and mark 30 but in the door 33. Still the problem continue and they wont help me to turn off the issue everything started since they did the tire rotation

The dashboard of my 2008 Nissan Altima is melting thus creating large glare which stretches across the entire length of the windshield and is troublesome when driving during the daytime hours. This defect in the dashboard poses an unreasonable safety risk to anyone in the vehicle as well as traffic in the vicinity of the vehicle while on the road. Nissan North America specialist, Crystal was contacted and stated to me, “Nissan will pay 50% of the cost of the replacement dashboard.” I contacted my local Nissan dealership and was quoted a total cost of $1575.04 for the replacement part and labor. This is a part defect that needs to be recalled and replaced by Nissan due to using defective materials.

Took delivery of this 2015 Altima 2.5 on 12/02/14 from Dealer John Sisson Nissan. Upon arriving home some 25 miles from the Dealer location a strong burning odor was noticed and therefore the vehicle was left parked outside to ‘air out’ and monitor a possible fire. A strong sulfur odor was and is noticed on occasion which in indicative of a faulty Catalytic Converter and/or raw fuel dumping into the cylinders and exhaust. Dealer was notified of these issues and vehicle was taken in for diagnosis. The dealer was also informed that the advertised MPG ratings of 27 city and 38 Highway were not obtainable.

I was told no problem was found and the road test consisted of about a 2 mile test. I was told the vehicle needed to accrue about 1500 miles before I would realize the advertised MPG ratings. I was also reminded that gas is now ‘cheap’ so why be concerned about MPG! I filed a complaint with Nissan USA where I received no assistance and I suggested they buy the car back or provide me a replacement. I was denied. I was also informed that the selling dealer, SISSON MOTORS advised Nissan USA that they would no longer service my new vehicle. I arranged to take the vehicle to another Nissan dealer where it remained for several days and it was determined the car was averaging about 18 MPG!

I was ask to return the car when the weather warmed up and leave it for at least 5 days so a Full tank to Empty tank MPG test would be conducted to evaluate the actual MPG. Despite my providing precise information I received from the EPA explaining how to run the MPG test the Service Manager advised me on day 6 that he had accrued 131 miles on the full tank of gas and directed me to top off the fuel tank and advise him of how many gallon of gas it took to fill it. I did so and the car took 4.0 gallon of gas. The service manager calculated that the car was now getting 32.0 MPG which is still well below the 30 highway advertised rating however this ‘test’ is deceptive and most inaccurate. The EPA outlines that a Full to Empty test be conducted to properly evaluate the true MPG. Nissan USA states the EPA is responsible for the advertised MPG ratings and the EPA denies this as the auto manufacturers test their vehicles and provide the EPA with the results.

I contacted the Nissan executive in charge of customer quality and was contacted by a person by the name of Elizabeth. I was told on 4/27/15 that a district Nissan rep wants to have the vehicle ‘looked at’ and they will drive it between 30 to 60 miles to evaluate the MPG. That is absurd and contrary to the EPA MPG testing method. The test Nissan wishes to conduct is a farce and most inaccurate however they wish to rid of me and my problems with this LEMON. The issue of poor MPG will not disappear and I will make certain of that. I have emailed the CEO of Nissan twice with no response. Instead I am subjected to the incompetence of people who won’t even divulge their last name and they speak to me as if this was the first time I owned a car or for that matter driven a car. How disgusting and shameful that a company such as Nissan chooses to treat me as a Moron. I will be updating this 5 month old farce as necessary. One more item of interest. I called a Nissan dealer in Ohio and explained my MPG problem. The service representative told me I needed to accrue 5000 mile before the MPG would increase. I ask why 5000 miles and was told, (NO KIDDING) that the pistons have to seat themselves in the engine! Yes, the pistons take 5000 miles to seat themselves??? I guess this is how Nissan trains it’s service representatives to answer customer concerns. While the car was in for service the past two occasions the recall for the hood latch was ignored also and the r/s visor won’t stay shut tight. This is my 8th Nissan and LAST NISSAN!

My problems started about 2 years ago when i was having some difficulty turning in dark intersections at night. i couldn't see well enough to comfortably navigate the intersection. now it is so bad that i have trouble on dark city streets at night seeing upcoming curves, intersections, or anything out more than about 20' out. turning on bright lights fixes the visibility problem, but of course causes additional issues for oncoming traffic. i thought perhaps i had eye problems and have been to an ophthalmologist twice and they find nothing wrong with my night vision. i have no accident report or police reports to add to my concern yet. guess you will just need to trust that what i'm describing is a safety concern that deserves your attention. thank you in advance for your help with this issue.

My 2015 nissan altima would not accelerate after coming to a complete stop. while i am pressing all the way down on the gas pedal ; the car would not move ; then a few second later it will jump out. i was making a left turn and a car was coming; but luckly he notice i was having problems.

When i drive at night with the lights on low beam they are dangerously dim. it is very hard to see.

My vehicles transmission i was told it has to do with transmission i thought it was a cv joint i not but it turned out to be way more then then that the accelerator peddle would get stuck and then take off fast almost hit someone.

Control arm rusted and snapped at the connection point where it meets the knuckle on both sides a couple months apart. the vehicle was in motion both times thankfully on a city street after hitting a small bump for a manhole cover.

When i turn my car on and the whole time it is running there is a noise under the hood sounding. you can not hear it from inside but when you are outside you can most definitely hear it and tell the car is on due to the noise.i thought it may be a fan noise due to maybe leaving the ac on but even with it off and just turning on the car you can hear it. this car has never been in an accident to my knowledge or any fender benders at that. also sometimes after sitting at a stop light or stop sign and it’s my turn to go i put my foot on the gas (not hard) and it goes up to like 3/4 rpms and it takes a few seconds to drop down to regular rpm while driving

My vehicle luckily was parked and i accidentally opened the hood, but there was issues with it fully latching. i finally got it to close completely. when will there be a remedy for this hood recall because it is almost a year next month since it’s been reported. i need my vehicle as it is my only transportation to get around and i am scared to drive it.

Headlights on low beam have become dimmer over time.on nissan forums this is a problem on different cars. this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.

Regarding my 2015 nissan altima...the headlamps are a safety hazard. far too dim! i am constantly asked by passengers if i have my lights on. to be safe, i need to use my high beams; which in itself is not safe, however since oncoming drivers rarely flash their high beams back at me, i assume they aren't very bright either. complaints like this for this car are all over the internet and i have a hard time believing it hasn't been brought to your attention. there needs to be a recall on this. this is a major safety issue. this isn't a matter of changing the bulbs. i'm no mechanic, but it seems to be a projector issue causing many owners to replace the headlight assembly. since this isn't a cosmetic issue, but safety, why has this not been recalled? it seems to affect 2013 through 2015 models the most. since there is no date to report, and this form required one for completion, i am putting january 1st 2015 as a date.

The hood of my car keeps jamming but has a weird noise at times while in motion. the dealership is no longer in business i’m guessing because no one neither the cars are there. it’s an empty lot.. the last time as i was driving around a curvy street the hood popped opened unexpectedly

The headlights in the car are extremely dim, causing a major issue with visibility at night. this has been an issue since 2016 and i purchased the vehicle brand new in 2015 and have been the sole owner of the vehicle. i complained to the dealer about the lack of visibility at darkness and they replaced the bulbs, which did not change anything. i was instructed by the dealer that it is a common problem with the projector lens, not the bulbs. this issue has been reported in the 2013 - 2015 nissan altima's, yet nissan has not recalled it. i fear this issue will cause a terrible accident.

Extremely low visbility. bo matter how many timesbive changed or adjusting my headlights/bulbs there is no improvement at all. i finally changed the entire headlight itself and now i can finally see 2 feet in front of when its dark out. nissan used horrible quality headlights at the cost of driver safety.

Hello, i drive a 2015 nissan altima. i’m writing because i believe the headlight assembly on this vehicle are defective. they’ve quickly corroded and do not provide the proper lighting for safe driving at night. the lighting is extremely dim, and hazy at all times. i often have to use my fog lights to drive at night which are brighter than my headlights. if i’m able to without impacting another drivers vision i have to drive with high beams. i am a 22 year old with 20/20 vision so therefore the issue is not my own vision or motor skills. i have replaced both headlights 2 times in the past year with high grade headlights and it has made zero difference. i also see this is a common problem with this generation of nissan altima’s. the vehicle has this issue at all times.

Light are not bright enough to even see at night driving on dim, have to drive with high beam on which is very dangerous

My 2015 nissan altima's transmission just went out at a mere 95,000 miles. i just had all the tires and brakes repaired ready to go for inspection and the transmission randomly failed while making a delivery for uber eats. the vehicle just started stalling out after stopping and got worse from there. no warning lights or anything it just won't switch gears. i turned on my hazard lights and went home and it wouldn't go above 50, i'm lucky i even made it home. there was a recall for the cvt transmission i had looked at 3 years ago after something similar happened and i saw a class action lawsuit related to this but now i am out the repairs on the brakes and tires and stuck without a vehicle and i rely on uber eats. i think i got sold a lemon. ever car me or everyone i know had went until easily 200-250k miles before the transmission went on older vehicles; now a "newer" vehicle goes out under 100k? that's why there's a class action lawsuit out for this and i really wish i could have gotten in on it because now i'm out the cost of repairs, i can't do my job without a car, and i'm stuck with the bill for a car that doesn't work so i'm just out that money.

I was driving approximately 30 mph when i felt a slight jolt and it felt like i had a flat. i pulled over and when i got out to look at vehicle i noticed driver side rear wheel was out of align. i looked under vehicle and i saw the rear control arm corroded and broken in two.

Wife experienced a loss of vehicle control due to the right rear lower control arm breaking while driving. towed to nissan dealer and contacted corp customer care. i referenced nissan service campaign p9324 as parts for listed 2013/14 altima were same as my wife's 15. first rep declined any assistance in repair, next rep today stated will review. this needs to be covered for all years using this part in areas effected by road salt use. had this been at her usual highway speeds would have been tragic accident with loss of vehicle control and ability to stop.

I was notified by the car sharing platform that i advertise my car on that it had a recall summer of 2020 and that i could not put my car on the platform until the safety issue was repaired. the safety issue is mostly prevalent where there is a lot of salt used for deicing the roadways on the east coast. i am on the west coast so does not apply to me. i have not been able to make any money with my car which is the only reason i purchased it. i checked today and there is still no fix... for a hood latch!! i can not sell the car as an active recall, even a minor one such as this, devalues my car and i would still owe on my loan. nissan dragging their feet on this fix has resulted in me losing thousands of dollars in income.

When stationary it has a delayed acceleration

Dim low beam headlights the low beam head lights are very dim and it has happened progressively. replacing the bulb does not resolve the issue and necescetates driving with the high-beam head lights, which is dangerous for other drivers.

In 2018, while filling up my gas, i accidentally pulled the hood release lever instead of my gas release lever. after pulling away, while driving the hood released and flew up to my window, causing damage along the hood. since this incident, i have been going back and forth with nissan to get it repaired. they initially denied that it was the hood latch problem, as at the time, my vin number wasn't included in the recalls (although what happened to me was exactly what was included in the recall). i was able to get an appoint with nissan corp who inspected my car and claimed that the damage was a result of rusting to the hood latch so there wasn't anything they could do. now that my vin number is included in the recall, i tried again to get the damage repair/cost covered, but they continue to deny my request stating the rust caused it. (this recall states that rust will form and cause the accident) i don't know where to turn to now as nissan is being impossible to get help from. now, even the hood release lever isn't working.

While driving the “traction control light” came on and the car felt as though it had a flat. tires looked good. went home. the next morning the drivers side rear looked as though the body of the car was almost resting on the tire. a repair garage is next store to us. brought it to them. they called to say that the rear control arm drivers side rusted and broke and that the right side needed replacing to. nissan is not honoring a known defect and the insurance company said that unless it was in an accident, they would not cover it either. we are stuck paying to replace both rear control arms at our expense. when nissan is aware that it is there issue and it should cover altima’s from 2013-2018. ours is a 2015. we live in one of the salt rock states. this is a real safety issue and nissan should have to make the repair free of charge and not let the consumer foot the bill. until fixed we don’t have our primary vehicle.

When an adult passenger (my wife) rides in the passenger seat, the airbag off light comes on. she weights 107. nissan has looked at it and says no problem found.the light comes on when the vehicle is moving and when stopped. this means that my wife does not have a working airbag in the event of an accident. *tr

Unfortunately , this is my second altima 3.5. in 2015 nissan replaced my 2013 altima 3.5. i requested a replacement due to the vehicle having stuttering and jerking issues causing me to feel unsafe while driving.while driving if i had to decelerate it would hesitate and jerk or pull while i was accelerating. this mainly happened on the highway but would happen occasionally while driving on city streets.as a mom with kids i feel the car is unsafe and will eventually cause to me be involved in a accident. my car has been in the shop for transmission issues since october2015 and now it is currently in the shop on its 4th attempt.i have currently requested for nissan to help me get into another vehicle, or replace the vehicle. *tr

The power steering on my 2015 altima is very hard to turn. the mechanic replaced the power steering pump twice and replaced the fluid and the steering wheel is still very hard to turn. the power steering indicator light is now on and i still can't turn the steering wheel. this is a very unsafe condition that nissan should recall and repair. this car has 5200 miles on it and this is totally unacceptable. the car also has a very high pitched whine noise that is very annoying. we previously owned toyota camrys and i'd nissan don't take care if this problem i will not refer them to anybody and go back to toyota.

Airbag light still on after recall. found airbag control unit code stored abnormal voltage after airbag reprogram was performed. replaced airbag control unit and tested system airbag light no longer on.. per dealer 9/2/16. 10/27/16 i took back to dealer airbag light still not coming off with adult passenger most of the time . sometimes it would work other times light telling airbag was off would not work. it's back at dealer and only has 10,000 miles. i'm really concern for the safety of my family.

Recalled due to the air bag light not working properly. went into dealer and was fixed. 3 times since then the same thing has happened. dealer feels it's not a problem!

While driving the vehicle with the ac in the on position, the ac would start to emit a strong chemical toxic odor. the odor is so strong , it stays on your clothing until they are washed. the odor also causing shortness of breath, water eyes, and makes your chest hurt after it has been inhaled for a short period of time. you can also taste the odor in your mouth after you have been out of the vehicle for some time. you could smell the odor outside the vehicle as well due to how strong it is.the strong toxic chemical odor was making my 1 year old daughter cough and sneeze when she was in the car. she would just keep rubbing her eyes. the car was taken in to the dealership in which they had it for over 2 weeks. when i got the car back, they said the odor was normal and would go away. i call nissan consumer affairs and explained the health concerns for my child in haling the odor coming from the ac vents. i received a call back from nissan consumer affairs and they stated the strong odor was due to the plastic in the car and because the car is black in color. the car only has 4,500 miles on it and should not be emitting any toxic chemical odor from the ac vents. inhaling the chemical that is coming from the ac unit can cause serious side effects for my children and that is very concerning. there should not be any plastic that would give off this type of odor in any vehicle. the dealership service manager agreed that the car should not smell the way it does, but nissan consumer affairs claims it is normal and will eventually go away. the issue also causes my front windshield to fog up so bad in the morning you cannot see on coming traffic. the defrost, ac, or having the windows down does not help with the fog issue on the windshield. how can this be normal for a brand new car with 4,500 miles? dealer has had the car for 3 weeks and still cannot find the problem.

I was on my way to my destination and every time i would press the gas pedal the car wouldn't accelerate. it would hesitate to go. then later that afternoon i was at a red light and the car turned off. no warning lights came on at all and i had plenty of gas.

Front passenger air bag light on dash remains on, in the "off" lit position even with a passenger riding in the front passenger seat. the problem comes and goes intermittently. sometimes it is on and sometimes it is off no matter if you are on a city street or going 60 mph down a highway.

Car just cuts off when the outside temperature is hot

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan altima. while undergoing an oil change, the dealer (modern nissan) could not open the hood. the technician stated that the hood latch was defective and needed to be replaced. the contact would have to pay for the repair. the contact refused to have the repair completed due to the vehicle sharing similar symptoms listed in nhtsa campaign number: 16v029000 (latches/locks/linkages). the manufacturer was contacted and stated that recalls were vin specific and the contact's vin was not included. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

When dropping a friend off at his house he unbuckled his seatbelt got out of the car and the red seat belt light came on on the instrument cluster and the passenger airbag light remained off showing the airbag was still alive rather than lighting up to show that it is off. my car has been in the dealer to reprogram the computer twice to check why when a passenger set in the seat the airbag did not show active comma and the passenger airbag has been replaced by nissan for test purposes. the warning systems remained on as if someone was sitting in the seat until i turned the car off and started it at a later time.

2015 nissan altima was involved in an accident on 12 june 2017. while traveling on interstate, approximately 70 mph traffic came to a complete and sudden stop.the front of the vehicle sustained major damage to the front of the vehicle. the front was crushed back about a foot. none of the airbags deployed in this accident. luckily there were no serious injuries other than seat belt bruises. insurance adjuster stated he was very surprised air bags did not deploy. the vehicle is being held pending investigation by nissan. i believe the nhtsa should investigate also before someone is seriously injured or killed.

Manufacture date 10/14. vehicle was serviced after an oil change with filter. also the cabin air filter was replaced. the engine air filter was not replaced. 1. owner left shop and called about 20 minutes later saying that smoke was coming from under the hood. two technicians went to the scene and front of vehicle was on fire the engine compartment was a total loss and passenger area of the front windshield was also melted away. 2. after researching for this year/ make and model there has been several other cars with mysterious fires. 3. discussed with technician and the only item that was

The low beam headlights are entirely inadequate to provide sufficient light intensity and fail to safely illuminate the street ahead of you. this creates a very dangerous situation when driving at night, while raining, or under any low visibility conditions since you are not able to see objects. this issue was not present when i purchased the vehicle new, but became a serious safety hazard around 50,000 miles. unfortunately, i have to drive with the high beams at night to be able to safely see. sometimes, when i switch to low for an oncoming vehicle, i suddenly find myself driving completely without sufficient light.

While driving on a busy highway, i changed lane to pass other car and when pushed the gas pedal rpm was going up, but i was not gaining more speed. i was doing 60 mph and i could not make the car to go up five more mph and revs were going up.

My vehicle goes into "limp mode" (the dealership used this term) suddenly while driving. i was driving 35 mph and suddenly it won't go even 20 mph. this has happened on 5 occasions. most recently last week. 1st time at 20k miles i had the valve body replaced, 2nd time the cvt was reprogrammed, 3rd time there were no codes, 4th time the cvt was reprogrammed and now 5th time at 51k miles the valve body is being replaced again. i noticed the issue starting when the vehicle will not accelerate while driving or even from a stop sign or stop light. i contacted nissan consumer affairs to investigate (this is the 2nd time i asked them to investigate). this final time i was told i would be getting a new transmission since 7 codes showed on the scan but they just called me and told me they replaced the valve body again.

I own a 2015 altima. i noticed i was having trouble seeing at night, so i asked my mechanic how much new headlights would cost. while they were looking over the headlight assembly they noticed that the headlights appeared to be melting the assembly, causing the light to distort; hence my trouble seeing at night. i took the car to milford nissan who looked it over and checked all the wiring but said that the distortion was not their issue as the car has 48,000 miles on it and is no longer protected. i stated this made no sense to me as the car is only two years old, and what exactly does mileage have to do with how ell the headlights work. i was told they would not pay for it. again i asked for more clarification and stated would contact nissan usa, and again told this would require a whole new headlight assembly and they were not paying for it. i did and they investigated, and said the issue was looked at by their dealer and it fell under wear and tear and was not covered. i asked how exactly this fell under wear and tear as headlight and mileage are not connected, and i am unable to see clearly at night, and this is a nissan build issue, and therefore your responsibility. i was told it was not and the case was closed. i asked for something in writing as i cannot see at night and want something saying nissan looked at it and sated their was not a problem worth fixing on their end, and that you would not assume responsibility. my wife and i looked on line and noticed that other people have similar issues with nissan vehicles and headlight visibility at night. i also included pictures of the headlight and you can see where the heat has cleared a path and distorted the light. thank you taking the time to review my case.

Push button start doesn't work due to faulty steering wheel lock system. car will not start unless i use remote start, open and close door then hit brake.

Water leaking into cabin at firewall - previously noticed that the front passenger floor mat and carpeting was damp on multiple occasions. applying water to the windshield resulted in water dripping down the inside firewall and dripping onto the floor mat and carpeting. currently at dealer being evaluated if this is a failed part or a manufacturing defect. since car cabins are not designed to be in a wet environment, this may lead to electrical problems and mold/mildew growth within the car's interior. have attempted to call nissan consumer affairs dept today 1st attempt received message to call back during normal working hours, although is was, and 2nd time was on hold for over 26 minutes with no answer.

Front passenger seat airbag occupant sensor - previously had dealer reprogram sensor as the air bag off light would illuminate even when a passenger was present. this situation still sporadically occurs. have vehicle at nissan dealer to re-program again. this will make the 2nd attempt to correct this safety problem. was informed that they don't have a test requirement to perform after the recalibration. will attempt to capture next occurrence by photo.

Exploding sunroof. while traveling on the highway the sunroof exploded emitting a loud noise and raining glass shards and splinters into the the vehicle. these shards and glass splinters covered the driver, and vehicle occupants in the passenger seat and in the rear seat of the vehicle. the person sitting in the passenger seat had glass in her eye and hair. the passenger in the rear seat had glass slivers in her hair and all over her clothing. note: the photos show the interior shade closed. at the time of the explosion the interior shade was open allowing the glass to blow into the car interior. new england cable news had a "consumer alert" segment on exploding sunroofs air date april 12th, 2016. in there segment they indicated the nhtsa was investigating kia and other car manufactures for sunroof defects. safety glass "the same material used in auto windshields" should be used in all future sunroof designs. this would prevent glass form entering the vehicle in the event of a failure/defect.

Takata inflator. i received a letter from a nissan dealer about 2 months ago. it stated that i should bring in my vehicle to replace the passenger air. when i called to make an appointment i was informed that i would be called by the dealer when the they receive the air bag from the manufacturer. i have not heard from the dealer. when i checked nhtsa website, it did not show my vehicle as a recalled vehicle. i am confused. is the dealer being honest. previously, the dealer had requested that i bring in my vehicle. the dealer stated that the indicator light on the passenger air bag was not functioning properly. the dealer also stated that the repair was completed. on another occasion i was also told to bring in my vehicle for a transmission problem. the dealer also stated that the repair was properly completed. what action can i take in reference to the most recent request to replace the air bag? the date i received is approximate.

Back in july car started to lose power and sputter while driving, and nissan replaced valve body. however, car shut off while driving on 09/07 and i was able to coast car to curb. when trying to start again, engine would only crank and not turn over.

I was driving my 2015 altima on a highway and the car suddenly stopped as in a stall with cars behind me swerving off the highway to avoid hitting me. the car had on oil and the oil warning light did not come on until my car stopped, then it said warning low oil pressure. i had just had an oil change at port city nissan, portsmouth, nh, and the service person apparently did not reattach the oil filter correctly, cross-threading the filter resulting in the oil leaking out without me knowing. again, my concern is there was no warning before my car stalled and stopped on a highway. no oil pressure light or low oil alert, nothing until i was almost in a serious accident.

While pressing gas my rpm goes up and down really fast even when i'm at a steady pace, the vehicle vibrates and jerks while and motion and has shut off twice while driving. the vibration occurs while in motion. once while driving the car wouldn't drive over 20mph then it shut off. often times when i make a complete stop then proceed to go the vehicle does a hard jerk. this has been going on for several months. i've contacted nissan and they have done nothing to assist despite the fact that i notice on different forums lots of people complaining about the exact same issue starting with the 2013 model and 2015. this car is dangerous and can really become deadly for consumers while randomly shutting off while in motion. i purchased my vehicle with 13000 miles and now its at 25000 theirs no reason thousands of others should be complaining about the same issue with the exact model as mine. this issue has been going on for months now.

Direction of car "wonders" slightly from side-to-side when driving at highway speeds. need continuous small steering wheel correction in order to keep car in straight line. very annoying and stressful to operate car.

Gear shift keeps sliding between reverse and neutral without being touched.

Having fixed a recall related to airbag sensors, the passenger side airbag light keeps going off (indicating the airbag is off) even when occupied by a 130 pound passenger sitting properly in the vehicle seat (back straight against set back, knees bent at edge of seat, feet flat on the floor) with seatbelt on properly (lapbelt across hips/lap and shoulder belt across the shoulder) this happens repeatedly, though to had to select 1 date to file this report.

Bought 2015 nissan altima brand new. from day one have had a problem with vehicle. going above 60 vehicle wants to drift out of lane. been in contact with nissan corporation, and they are no help. say that is how the vehicle is. this car is very unsafe. nissan sent out a specialist for alitmas, and he said it was normal. he said he did something to help the driving, but it did not help at all. horrible car. really wish i could get out of this car, because of this issue. will not buy another nissan ever again!!!

I received a recall notice for my 2015 altima for the ocs module. this shuts off the front passenger air bag if the person sitting in the seat isn't heavy enough to be an adult. i took it into the dealer and they reprogrammed it according to the recall directions. two days later i was riding in the front passenger seat while my wife was driving and noticed the light was on that tells you the front passenger air bag is off. i called the dealer and they said it might not have taken the whole program and they would do it again. when i took it in the service person wouldn't even look at it other than to sit in the passenger seat and tell me it was fine because the light didn't come on. in the year i owned it the light only came on twice with an adult in the passenger seat before the recall. the service person even tried to tell me the air bags will work with the light on saying they are off. that's not what the paperwork says that the same dealership gave me when they did the recall work. so now i'm left with a car that someone in the front passenger seat could get injured or killed if there's an accident and the air bag is off because the ocs module isn't reading their weight right. i filed a complaint with nissan north america and they told me after conferring with the dealer there is nothing they can do to help me. what!!!

While driving back home last month (july 2016), suddenly it started loosing power and tachometer started showing fluctuation at all rpm range (0-4000+). it was very scary moment as it happened while driving on major highway with medium to high traffic flow (after work hours 5 pm -7 pm) 65 mph zone.

While driving in any condition or weather, my car shutters and make a loud vibration noise which is also felt inside the car whenever the rpm reaches 2000 rpm. it only does it on exactly 2000. above or below its fine. ive been to two different nissan dealerships for the past two years of owning it and they tell me its normal. in colder weather its a lot worse. you can play with the rpm and everytime it will vibrate and you can hear and feel it at 2000 rpm. but both dealers say they cant find anything and that they don't notice it. that worries me when a 5 year old asks me what that noise and feeling is but a certified mechanic cant find this problem. its loud and clearly you can feel it. this is ridiculous. all i want is for it to be fixed. if not i'm never buying another nissan product. ive had the worst experience with this brand and ive owned a lot of brands. nissan needs to fix this and spend more money on training. this has been going on for 2 years that ive owned this car.

Nissan dealer performed tire rotation after that tpms light strart to show up, tire pressure was 33psi acording to nissan dealer ,nissan manual was 30psi. the error continue nissa asume that light showed up in every car when is cold so i shouldnt be worry. i told them so annoyed that i am with the light because if later on i have an problem i wouldnt know. i asked them to check the sesnor reset or check the tires. they wont do anything they dont listen to what i told them.the light will show up when the vehicle is in movement and stay for a few hours and disapper and will show up again .

While driving 65 mph on the freeway when my sun roof exploded a very loud boom.glass flew outward causing the glass to scratch the roof and trunk. went to nissan dealership and talked to manger and explain what happened. he told me i could not prove that it was a manufacturer defect. there was nobody around me at the time of explosion it also was not hot. it was at 9:00 am in the morning and was 68 degrees. my car is garage kept. this week our local news station had a segment about sun roofs exploding on nissans with over 100 reports of the very same thing that happened to my car. i was told by nissan to file a claim on my insurance and pay my 500.00 dollar deductible. i feel that this was a manufacturer defect and should be investigated. i am upset that nissan dismissed me knowing they already been having complaints on this same problem. *tr

Niissan has tried to repair the passenger side airbag four(4) times. intermittently turns off with passenger in front passenger seat. they have tried everything, but will not take car back. this was a recall already issued. to make matters worse my rental car is a 2017 nissan altima & it does the same thing. this happens when car is in motion or parked & running. this is a problem since june 2016. all videoes are too long to add.

Nissan had a hood release issue which resulted in a recall. my hood popped up and resulted in scratches to both sides of my car. i reported it to nissan and they will not cover it. i went to russ darrow nissan milwaukee to fix, however it was not done correctly. i went amato nissan to have the hood repaired again after the hood piped up again.

The hood safety latch failed causing the hood to fly open. the hood cracked the windshield and damaged two body panels on the car. the incident happened on a 4 lane state route traveling west going approximately 30 mph. i had just turned onto the road and was accelerating.

At night time i noticed my low beam headlights were extremely dim. like almost can’t even see the road dim without sitting right against my steering wheel. so i turn my high beams on to see if they were dim too but those were normal. i replaced them all with led and the problem still was not resolved. i drive at night with my high beams on until i meet an oncoming vehicle and then i usually can’t even see the road unless my brights are on(which is a safety concern for them as well). in the city, my lights do not even appear that they are on at all

I bought my 2015 nissan altima with 3000 miles. practically brand new in 0ctober that same year. about a year after i noticed my headlights were not as strong as they were before. i figured the bulbs were beginning to burn out. so i upgraded them to an led h11 bulb as that is the bulb the manual says is required. these bulbs were not overly expensive but they weren’t cheap either. i did a lot of research before buying. about another year later. they began to go dim as well. at this point it’s 2018 and i cannot drive at night anymore. replacing the assembly through nissan which they recommend but will not acknowledge this problem would cost me about $1000+their taxes. it is very dangerous to drive with this vehicle on the road. visibility at night is about close to zero. i can’t even pick up my family and go anywhere because it just isn’t safe to do so. i have to make trips during the daylight and before it gets dark to avoid driving dangerously into the night. i wear glasses and contacts and i use others driving near and their headlights to see better than my own car. that is ridiculous. i have called nissan to address this issue and they want to run a diagnostic and possibly replace them for over $1200 which includes the diagnostic. they need to be looked into quickly because my vehicle is almost paid off for but is too dangerous to even drive anymore. it’s a cheaply made vehicle and it should be illegal for them to put something on a market like this. how have there been no recalls yet for this? this is a direct violation of the nhtsa.

I cannot recall the exact date, but late 2018/early 2019, while driving down a residential street i noticed how dim my headlights were. being that my car is a 2015 model, i naively equated it to age and lightbulb dimness; which was not the case. i swapped head light bulbs, to no avail; i opted for the most expensive head light bulb in autozone, but still hella dim. in my most recent visit to sheehy nissan service, a recommended service is to "replace headlight assembly/bad reflections." in addition to the service being recommended, i was informed that it has been a problem voiced to service techs by many other 2015 nissan altima owners.

I keep getting emails from car fax regarding a safety recall: the secondary hood latch may become stuck in the open position due to a potential for corrosion (in regions with excessive road salt use) in the hood latch combined with improper inspection and maintenance. but the recall status is incomplete: remedy not yet available. it's been like that for months and i am wondering if i should be concerned.

My low beams are so low it does not look like they are on at night. this is very unsafe. if i drive the vehicle at night i have to use my high beams which is not safe for other drivers on the road. i live in florida & it rains a lot. i can't see with my low beams and other drivers can not see me. i am afraid i may get in an accident if only using my low beams or receive a ticket for driving with my high beams.

The headlights for this vehicle are extremely dim and unsafe when driving at night! they are so dim that other oncoming cars will flash their headlights at me thinking i am using running daylights or have no lights on at all!! i cannot see the road well at night at all and am forced to use the high beams for safety! i originally believed that the issue was the bulbs themselves and i have replaced them twice with no resolution to the issue. i purchased this vehicle literally off the showroom floor with 9 miles on it, in feb 2016. the first bulb replacement was on 2.16.2019, and i have documentation supporting that replacement. the second replacement was on 2.22.2020, which i did myself as the cost of the labor was too high. this also did not resolve the issue. when i reached out to the dealership that sold me the vehicle, they advised that it was a known issue with the projector reflective finish inside the headlight assembly. they stated that nissan was well aware of the issue, however they have no plans on a safety recall and my only solution is to replace the headlight assembly, for a whopping $880! nissan needs to own up to this safety hazard and take care of its consumers. i have been a loyal nissan customer - have purchased four vehicles within 6 years - all new and this is how i am treated? how everyone with the same vehicle and issue is treated? there is a class action investigation happening right now over this issue, anyone who has not shared their experience, needs to do so!

Low beams have degraded to an unsafe situation. i cant safely see at night without high beams. should be recalled. this appears to be a common problem with these cars.

The headlights on dim are not bright enough to even drive at night. i have to use high beams to even see the road.

Vehicle in motion, highway and city street driving. the low-beam headlights are dangerously dim. if driving on a road not otherwise lighted by streetlamps, nearly impossible to see the road ahead. high-beams always have to be used. checked ground wire, replaced bulbs with no improvement. this has been an issues for a well over a year.

The dim headlights are extremely dim, allowing me not to drive safely at night unless i have my high-beams on. this has been going on for over a year now. i’ve replaced the headlights with no improvement.

I was driving down a busy road when my 2015 nissan altima started swerving i pulled over to find my rear passenger tire facing inwards come to find out the tow truck employee told me had just towed the exact same kind of vehicle with the same lower control arm break the week before. i see there is a service campion from nissan but amy vehicle is not included which makes no sense because i live and have always lived in a winter state

The front headlights are so dim it makes seeing very difficult. this is a known problem with nissan. the 3rd lane turned into a turn lane on a city street that i couldnt see due to the poor lighting and we struck a curb blowing out both right side tires and ruining the wheels.

The secondary hood latch recall has been outstanding without a remedy fix for to long. it came out may of 2020. in 4 months it will be a year. i’m not able to do my second jobs with the outstanding recall. this needs to be fixed asap. nissan needs to provide customer with a loaner until something is done because it’s a safety issue and i don’t want the hood flying up.

My daily commute takes me through rural, relatively unlit areas at night. this has become increasingly unsafe in the last year as my headlights have dimmed to the point where i am unable to see more than 60-70 feet in front of me. this poses a significant hazard throughout the year as deer are abundant in the area i drive through and any amount of inclement weather further hinders safe driving.

My car air bag light came on while i was driving but i didnt think much about it, i drove it like that for a couple months, my husband told me to take it to the dealer to get checked out, first dealer told me the cost was going to be 1600.00 and they quoted me the part was going to cost 1200.00, i refused to pay that much and we were able to get the price lowered to 900.00 but they couldn't fix it because the part was on back order, so they reset the air bag when i left the dealer the airbag light was off, the next day the light came back on, a few days later i took it to another dealer to see what they would say, first day they reset the airbag light i asked if the airbag is activated they said they did not know, i said well its still a safety issue, i asked how can the airbag be deployable then, he said we will need to change out the airbag, so they ordered the airbag and eventually replaced it, i asked what if the light comes on again he said then we will have to see whats next on the list of parts to replace, so in other words it just change out parts by trial and error, i drove off and the following day while i was driving the airbag light came on again and unfortunately i am driving my car with out a activated airbag, i am afraid to take it to the dealer again because of the cost and trial by error them not knowing how to pin point the problem, currently the airbag light stays on and i was told by the dealer that my air bag is not activated while that light is on.

The headlights are extremely dim and difficult to see in nights. i feel extremely unsafe to drive at nights. nissan doesn't have a way to fix. a full replacement will cost several 1000 dollars but not reported to yield results.

My head lights are very dim making it hard to see at night, i almost hit a trooper on a dark road at a school ,lights were very dim and he had on dark clothes.they have been getting dimer every night.i was turning in to a school .

Over a short period of time (aprox. 2 years), the headlight low-beam output has decreased to unsafe levels. at night, it is hard to tell if the headlight are even on, because they do not seem to light up the road at all. i have attempted to change the bulbs, and cleaning the lens, but neither has helped. i looked further into the issue, and it appears the reflector material inside the projector headlight has burnt off from regular use in the 2 years that i owned the car (purchased new), there is almost no reflective material left in the projector headlight. i checked with nissan dealership, and that isn't something that is covered by any of the warranties, there is also no recall for this part which i find completely unacceptable. every single 2014+ altima that i see on the street appears to have the same issue, the road in front of the car isn't lit, and i am sure it is also due to the burned off reflectors in their headlights as well.

5 years old and had to replace complete subframe, nissan would not cover due to living by the ocean , other 2 altima’s from 08 have no issues . repair cost was $3000 . figured out issue when right front bottomed out and a-arm sitting on the ground.

The headlights have been getting dimmer over time (so bad its hard to see!!) replacing the bulbs has not helped! very unsafe!!

My 2015 altima airbag lights were on, i brought the car in for servicing on december 23rd to cover the recall. on the 29th with wife in car airbag light came back on dashboard. sensor does not work properly in seat. wife weighs over 120 pounds. i looked online and found many other people have the same issue with the recall, their car never receives the update and customers have to go back in repeatedly and the problem is never resolved. so airbags won't deploy now when my wife is a passenger. nissan is not replacing everything they could to fix the problem. for some the reprogramming works. for others they need complete replacement of electronics. my car is going back in for what they call "servicing" as the recall was already preformed on the vehicle.

Wheel sensor wiring needs to be fixed. i was advised this is not a common problem.

Driving down the us23/119 interstate near pikeville, ky the vehicle suddenly started decelerating from 60 mph and would no longer allow acceleration. the vehicle speed kept decreasing until it was going less than 20 mph and th driver had to pull off to the side of the road. after a tow to the nissan dealership, the problem was diagnosed to be a faulty transmission. the danger was it occurred so suddenly while driving on the interstate with no warning and vehicles easily could have collided with our vehicle. upon learning of the repair needed i searched for other similar issues with the nissan altima. i found there was a class action lawsuit settlement for 2013-16 vehicles due to faulty transmission. the suit settled with an extension of the warranty by 24 months or 24,000 miles. however, this resolution, in my opinion, is not sufficient to protect the consumers from paying often in excess of $3000 for a repair and the risk of life while driving a known faulty product. nissan should be required to increase the warranty period to be more tied to the life of a transmission and protect consumers of potential injuries due to their known faulty product.

While leaving a parking lot i went down a steep ramp and the right rear control arm broke i pulled over to check and the arm look rusted out.

Car randomly stalls and stutters. check engine light appears. can clear code but the problem always comes back. happens about once a month, sometimes days in a row.

Well i bought my 2015 altima a year ago and now it tries to over heated, the temperature gauge bounces back and forth, and when i put it in reverse it will move but after i throw it in drive i lose all power with acceleration the car on just no rev or anything

I was driving on the highway, heading home and randomly the hood on the car flew open. i believe the hood latch is faulty due to the recall. i was driving at 40 mph on the hwy. my view was obstructed but i safely pulled the vehicle in to the service lane. i hopped out the car to check the damages and notice the front panels on both sides of my vehicle was broke because of the hood latch flying opened. luckily my windshield did not break due to this because as the driver i've could've been injured. the hood would not safely closed and i had to drive slow on the street to make home safely. geico insurance has pictures and more explanations of the damages.

My wife's 2015 altima 2.5 sl has a tremendous water leak on the drivers side filling the cabin with inches of water. this vehicle has been garage kept for the 5yrs, but with the purchase of my new car we know keep the altima in the driveway. after a recent rain i noticed a very strong musty, moldy odor and the sound of water as i backed out of the driveway, as i reached level ground my feet where soaked with water. i have had the drain tubes cleaned and cleared as this was mention to me at the dealership as a common problem. this did not fix the water leak and nissan requires $475 to check the problem further. i did a search online and noticed this is a common problem with nissan vehicles, as this water leak seem to come from faulty structural welding it’s a safety hazard to the electrical system and safety of the vehicle as a whole, we now experience slight electrical glitches with our altima which again i feel is a safety hazard.

My 2015 nissan altima began stalling when i engaged the accelerator pedal. it stalled and eventually sounded as if it were struggling to shift gears began moving forward. while driving 55 mph, i was forced to abruptly engage the brake pedal to avoid crashing into another vehicle; however, when i applied the accelerator pedal the vehicle strained to move forward and accelerate but within a few minutes i was able to drive the normal speed. the vehicle does hesitate every time i drive it.

Arizona emissions testing provided me a recall on secondary hood latch. on 8/31/20 i called thoroughbred nissan to correct and the service advisor said parts will not be ready, if ready by next year.

On 8/8/2020 i was going to my niece's birthday party. while the car was in motion on the beltway, my hood popped up 5 times. i had to continuously pull over on the shoulder of the beltway (which is very dangerous) to keep re-closing the hood. i was very scared and concerned the hood would fly up while i was driving which would cause me not to be able to see the road at all. this was not the first time that this has happened. it's been happening on and off for at least 2 weeks. on 8/10/2020 i took my vehicle to the dealership for regular maintenance and to my surprise nissan doesn't have a fix to this problem. i now have to be without my vehicle for how ever long until nissan can come up with a temporary fix and was not offered a loaner vehicle. i am highly disappointed with nissan and i have been a customer for years.

My son was driving my wife's 2015 nissan altima down the driveway(approximately 20 mph) when the rear left suspension broke. he continued to drive it slowly for another mile along the side of the road having, difficulty steering, and hoping to make it to the nearby mechanic. he stopped after a mile and called me. i was able to see the driver side rear suspension arm was broke and the tire was angled.(the passenger side was severly corroded also) the vehicle was towed to the mechanic and he filed warrantee information. the warrantee was denied because it was a corrosion issue. i am grateful this did not happen on the highway!!! if it is hard to steer a vehicle at 20 mph, what would happen at 75 mph. how is this not a safety problem? a main suspension arm rusting out in less than 5 years, and known common problem in northern climates??

I have been receiving recalls for my car regarding the transmission the extended the warranty, the primary hood latch disengaged which could obscure the drivers vision increasing the risk of a crash.

Received recall notice 20v-315, stating the secondary hood latch may not function properly. letter indicates a remedy expected in the mid-2021 timeframe. this is unexceptable as this is not a new issue and has been a known issue since at least 2016.

While driving on a city street the hood of the car flew open damaging both fenders. hood was closed but the latch did not secure causing it to fly open causing damage to the body of the vehicle.

The supplemental air bag warning light came on multiple times and i have taken it to three nissan dealerships and they have not been able to fix the issue. the car has never been in an accident neither the airbags have ever deployed. every time i go to a nissan dealership they claim a connector was loose or that the circuit was open. every time i take the car out of the dealership the light is off, but after a day or so the light comes on again. it seems to me that is unacceptable that such a critical system as the airbag is, would not work properly, and that nissan would not know how to fix it. they keep trying to change different parts on the airbag system to try to get it fixed, but it seems to me that they don't know what to do and are just trying to see what fixes the issue. it also seems that nissan didn't do a good job with the airbag system since there's already been recalls on something similar for this car.

The headlight component is of very poor quality. it doesn't matter what kind of bulbs are placed in the headlights, the light does not project onto the road enough to see well at night. the headlights don't project far enough out and you are only able to see the road that is barely in front of you, not even to the sides. i have tried upgrading the bulbs multiple times and there is no difference.

I have two ongoing issues that seems to be a very common issue with nissan altima. 1st issue is periodically i have no acceleration on gas pedal. this is very sporadic and only seems to happen when the vehicle is warmed up. almost had crash on a couple of occasions while going thru intersection. second problem is periodically the cruise control will not engage. these problems are getting worse. car only has 80k miles on it. 1st appeared around 50k miles on it.

I am also having an issue with the low beam headlights being dangerously ineffective for night driving or inclement weather. it seems that their are more than an adequate amount of complaints filed to warrant some action. my daughter and grand children ride in this vehicle and there better not anything happen to them because of this. nissan nor nhtsa have enough money to settle that lawsuit. lights declined gradually. from online research i see that the issue is the reflectors inside the headlight assemblies. i have also changed to "brighter" bulbs, no help. i've researched aftermarket headlight assemblies and they also seem inferior.

I contacted the clay cooley dealership in dallas found at 39690 lyndon b johnson fwy south, dallas, tx 75237 on may 1st, 20202 via chat for an airbag service recall. after over a month contacting the dealership, i have not received one phone call or email from clay cooley nissan. during this time, i spoke with four (4) different representatives over the chat about the need to schedule an airbag service recall. after the second representative in a period of two weeks, all representatives apologized for no one contacting me about the issue and assured a specialist would contacted me soon. today is 5/31 and i’m still waiting on the phone call or email. i'm attaching the copy of all chat with the representatives.

Bought used 2015 altima sv 13 days ago. brand new tires were put on before i took delivery. three days ago, it started feeling like i have a flat tire, dragging the rubber, pulling, and swaying from rear when i park. mpg is terrible, turns are wider, vibrates in steering wheel which worsens at higher speeds. checked tires, saw 9 .25 weights on pass front wheel, 2 .25 weights on pass rear wheel, driver front wheel has glue without weights, driver rear wheel, same thing. pass rear tire has 1/2 inch slope inside on top of tread, like it’s separating. feels like loose suspension, wobbly and out of socket. tire guy says bad tire. dealership says i gotta pay for alignment. i just bought the thing less than two weeks ago, with every penny to my name. dealership sent me away, until i have money in my acct to align it. i’m a delivery driver and need to be safe, especially with covid19, i’m an essential driver, making deliveries of food and necessities to stay at home ordered civilians, to stop the spread of coronavirus in dfw, texas, ordered by judge abbot, to provide for our community. i work for several companies, providing hot meals, groceries, medicines, personal care, and cleaning supplies to college students, retirement homes residents, and families, who might not have access to these key survival necessities without the work we do.

Driving on street and hood flew up blocking all visability. luckily no traffic was nearby and i was able to pull on shoulder of road. i was able to put hood down and secured it with duct tape. the top of the panels on both sides are now bent from the hood coming all the way up and they are chipping paint as well.

The vehicle was parked. it rained and the water flooded in through some drain. now the vehicle had 2 inches of water on the passenger side, front and back. i called nissan and they are not accepting responsibility. the vehicle is developing mold and electrical issues. it is not safe to sit on the passenger side and is a major health and safety issue. this is manufacturing issue but the dealership is attempting to make me pay for repairs since the car is out of warranty.

The interior lights don’t work i have a push start and i have to use my key to unlock/lock the doors. the beeper doesn’t work and the battery has been replaced several times. my car also drives as if it’s in neutral and won’t pick up speed. i have to turn the car off and start it back up for it to stop but it will do it constantly. i have took it to the dealership numerous of times and they always tell me they can’t find an issue. this has been going on for a year now.

Car completely powered off while traveling traveling at 10mph. the engine and battery symbol appeared, car was able to come to a rolling stop. placed in park and was able to restart with no issues. ten minutes later, car is traveling 60mph and car powered off, console turned black, car powered on, powered off and then powered on while maintaining same speed. third time occurred 5min later as i was trying to safely pull over. was traveling under 20mph and car powered off , locking breaks and coming to a complete stop while locking steering wheel.

I have noticed that when pressing down on the the acceleration pedal there is sometimes an extended delay and the car does not move. it does not happen always, but i have read that alot people are having the same issues, and no one seems to know the cause. personally, after putting the car in park, turning off and turning on the car seems to allow it to accelerate again. my specific experience with this happened twice in a two week span. i was stopped at a light with the brake pedal pressed down on a regular two way roadway. as the light turned green, i attempted to accelerate by pressing the gas pedal but the car would not move, and the rpms would just go up. this same experience happened another time as well. please look into it as a possible recall for some programming on this cvt transmission, as this could be a very potentially bad risk, especially driving on the highway where losing the ability to accelerate can result in major accidents/deaths.

It's very difficult to see with only the low beam headlights on. headlights are so dim that i can not see more than a foot in front of me especially if there are no street lights. it's pretty much like driving with no headlights on. even people that have ridden in my car can tell the headlights are nonexistent. i suffered some front end damage to my car after hitting a garbage can that i did not see when i was driving home at night. this is truly a very dangerous situation. i have tried to get a bright built (60% more vision); however, it does not help.

I have a 2015 nissan altima s and the airbag light has been on for about 6 months. i took it to the dealership and the first time they said it was the module and fix for $1000 - second time they said it was the seat. - i didn't even get a quote for that. i contacted nissan and they said since my car is not on recall for the airbags i would have to pay for it myself. if i remember correctly, i believe i contacted them twice and got the same response. it passes inspection so i will just live (or die) with the light on. i just hope the airbags deploy if i have an accident.

When your turn signal lights are brighter than your low beam headlights you know you have a nissan altima. low beam headlights are extremely dim. have replaced bulbs with maximum brightness twice. poly-carbonate housing is still relatively clear, no change in condition. driving at night is harrowing. on highway, when cars are behind, their headlights create a shadow that the altima beams cannot overcome. on city streets or county roads if there are no street lights the low beams project about 20 feet. high beams ok until encounter on-coming traffic and must switch to low beams. at that point you are totally in the black due to the altima weak beams and the on-coming headlights. the best you can do is hope that a white line is painted on the edge of the roadway and try to stay in the lane. fog conditions at night are horrible with weak low beam lights. visibility is about 3 feet. turning high beams on makes it equally bad. i can try to take some comparison pictures if nhtsa thinks it will help clarify this well documented issue with the nissan altima. research indicates that reflector used in lighting housing goes bad and very little light is actually projected, no matter what bulb is installed. my vehicle is almost unusable at night and definitely in rain or fog. absolutely will not let my teen drive the altima at night. this is a dangerous safety issue that needs usg support. nissan refuses to take any responsibility - refuting claims by owners and stating over $1000 to fix the issue. nissan will not recall without usg intervention and we need nhtsa's help!

I was driving on the freeway and all of a sudden my hood flew up onto my windshield. it was very frightening... i don’t understand how this can happen when the hood is latched shut.

I have spent over 500 on lights bulbs and lighting on this altima 2015 …..the headlights or the bulbs are trash there r very very very dim few months after purchase,i was told to change,replace,restoration its like im getting the run around and not fix the problem and its ridiculous to produce poor lighting on a car and something needs to be done immediately now!! i drive in the day now when i have to drive at night cause no lights have to use bright lights to see whom ever it may concern this need to be recall noooowww before somebodies die because of a simple fix that nissan seems like they don't want to address until someone dies in a crash …..now!!!!!

The headlights on this vehicle have been replaced twice. i have had the nissan dealer check these headlights and they say there is nothing wrong with them. the headlights are a severe safety hazard for night driving. i have to use my brights to be able to see at night. my granddaughter borrowed my car and she thought the headlights were off. these headlights need a safety recall before someone gets killed.

Low beam headlights are very dim. (high beam is fine.) low beams are so dim you have to also use the fog/driving lights to see at night, my car has them, some models don,t. changing the bulbs did not help at all, outside lens is clear. using high beams at night irritates and is dangerous to on coming drivers. i don't like driving like that at all. low beams should be bright enough to be see, they are not.

My dim headlights are extremely low. driving at night is a safety hazard due to the dim headlights. i have not reported this to my dealership after viewing other complaints with the same safety issue and the feedback from dealerships less than helpful. i know that headlights (bulbs) should be replaced from time to time. however, after replacing bulbs the problem still exists. the performance of the headlights, especially at night, is below industry standards. as of now this problem has been reported to nhtsa as a major safety concern. i have not discovered any real information from nhtsa, pro or con, on this issue which is concerning to me. i would hope that due diligence and follow up to consumers from nhtsa, about this complaint, is forthcoming or at the least directives are given as to resolutions to this safety issue. also, purchasing brighter bulbs don't seem to fix the problem. i have tried that. your feedback would be greatly appreciated concerning this headlight safety issue on my 2015 nissan altima.

My headlights are getting dimmer and dimmer. i replaced the bulbs twice. but they are still dimming. now having to use high beams all the time.

When i 1st bought the car i upgraded the headlights to led low beams. this produced a nice light and the lighting increased significantly with a very sharp cutoff line. this was about 18 months ago. now the low beams barely produce a blob of lighr and there is no cutoff line for the lights visible. my fog lights actually light up the road better than the low beams. this is very dangerous driving at night with very visible light actually hitting the road. i will need to replace these headlights very soon as i do allot of nighttime driving going to and from work in the winter months. if the roads are wet or damp the lighting does not even light up the lane marker lines this makes it very hard to drive esspecially on curvy roads.

P17f1 cvt judder code...there are recalls on v6 nissan altimas from 2015, but it does not apply to the 4 cylinder models, yet the cars are having the same issues. most likely the transmission will need replaced. very costly for a 4 year old vehicle ($3500 from non-dealer, $4000 - $5000 dealer estimate). dealer charges $140 just to diagnose the issue. the vehicle hesitates when accelerating to get on the highway. transmission company i spoke with said this was the 4th altima he had seen this week with the same issue....typically happens between 100,000 - 120,000 miles. my vehicle has 111,000 miles.

I was driving my daughter home from pre-k and had been in the car for 10 miles without a problem. i was stopped at a stop light at a very busy four -way intersection. the light turned green and the car would not move. i pushed the accelerator and the car didn't move. i was shocked. it was perfectly fine one minute and did not move the next minute. the car acted as if it were in neutral and it wouldn't go. after pressing a few times, the car started to go very slowly. i took some back roads stopping at different parking lots hoping to make it home. i had my car towed to the mechanic. the mechanic said that at 59,700 miles, my 2015 nissan altima's cvt transmission is non-functional & the diagnostic code is starting to show upl. i owe money on the loan and now i have to pay thousands of dollars to replace the transmission or start from scratch. no recalls. no help. what a disappointment.

My passenger air bag light keeps coming on. had harry green in clarksburg wv look at it 1125/2019. found nothing. said they hooked it up to a computer and no errors were reported. does it in motion. the of road doesn't seem to trigger it

Have owned car for 2.5 years. initially headlights appeared fine. the headlights brightness of the headlights has degraded so much that i believe night driving puts the driver at great risk. visibility with low beams seem more like parking lights. no useful lighting for more than a few feet. the high beam now serve as my low beam and they appear to be declining. this is extremely unsafe and unsettling! i asked the dealership initially thinking it was the bulb. they said it wasn’t the bulb, but the reflectors. they acknowledge that this has been a reported problem. a recall has not been made! this is clearly an accident waiting to happen. i’m totally fearful if it should rain as it further reduces the limited visibility. amazing that this problem and concern that seems to have been around for at least a few years continues to go unaddressed.

On november 8th my daughter was driving my 2015 nissan altima and the rpm starting going up and as she was pressing the gas the car wouldn't move and the check engine light came on. i took the car to the nissan dealership and they told me the transmission is going bad in my car and that it would cost me $4500.00 to get fixed. after talking to several people i was informed that there is a recall on the 2015 nissan altima with a 4 cylinder engine. if there is a recall then why is my local dealership trying to get me to pay. i wen to the nhtsa.gov website and typed in my vin number and it showed that my vehicle is recalled. do i take my vehicle to another nissan dealership and file a complaint with the bbb on that dealership? i don't have $4500.00 to fix my transmission especially when there is a recall on it.

Headlight low beams are dangerously dim. can barely see the road. when there is a car behind, lights are so dim that a shadow is cast in fromt of the car. attempted new halogen and led bulbs with no success.

When vehicle was purchase from dealer, the headlights worked great. now the headlights are so dim while driving at night it is almost impossible to see the white and yellow lines on the road ahead of you. when contacting the dealership their answer was “we’re aware of the problem” and recommended buying new headlights at 800$ a pop. after further investigation and research i find this is in fact a manufacturing defect and several thousand complaints have been made. when can i expect a recall on this potentially deadly issue? i along with many others have been taken by a car manufacturer that puts profits before safety. without the nhtsa standing up for the public this will continue to become and remain a issue for innocent and needless fatalities.

In an accident going 60mph got hit on drivers side and front and airbags did not deploy when they should have. had a mechanic look at it and said the airbags must be hung up because they should have deployed and should deploy anytime you are hit going over 25mph

The driver's side sun visor randomly drops into the down position blocking the driver's visibility. the visor falls without warning and can be startling. it is sometimes difficult to return to the up position. upon inspection it appears that the body of the visor has come apart at the seams inside of the cloth covering. the problem has occurred several times without warning, while in motion during a variety of driving conditions.

While waiting to turn left at an intersection for a break in oncoming traffic, the car will sometimes pause for 2-3 seconds when the accelerator is pressed, as if it were in neutral. this leaves me vulnerable to an accident when it finally kicks in and starts moving. when having to judge and make crucial decisions while driving is complicated by a car that doesn't move when it's supposed to i truly feel it's literally 'an accident waiting to happen.' i also don't know when it will happen because it's not every time, so i have no way to incorporate that into my decision making while driving. neither i want to be in an accident, nor do i want to put someone else at risk.

I believe my airbags may have spontaneously deployed while driving on a straight at around 45 - 50 mph, shocking and blinding me, causing me to veer off the side of the road and crashing into a ditch, totaling my car. all i remember was one second, i was driving and the next, i couldn't see anything and was braking & screaming, on a wild, bumpy ride, not knowing where to steer because i couldn't see past the airbags and dust/chemicals/smoke.

Every once in a while no matter how far put my foot down on the pedal it will not accelerate. this is extreamly dangerous as it has happened when crossing intersection in very busy traffic situations. i would say i probably would have been hit at least 5 times in this situation, but the drivers coming the other way saw i was having. a problem and slowed down so they would not hit me.

Air bags: occupant classification system - ocs (front passenger) - was told my car is not included in this recall based on vin, however, passenger airbag light goes off and on even with someone in passenger seat, dash light is also on. this happens consistently, whether driving or parked.

Around 92,000 pressed on gas and car would not move, had to press pedal all the way to floor until it caught then it drove. drove home, shut off, restarted in the morning with no issues. drove a few more days and it happened again; took to certified nissan dealership and was told it was my transmission checked out great and it was my "brake sensor" which was replaced, drove another two weeks and it happened again. took back in and was told i needed a transmission replacement; notes read transmission fluid smelled "burnt" and there were tiny metal particles throughout.

My nissan altima 2015 will not accelerate on a highway. it only has 30k on it. i took it to nissan 2 times for this problem and they told me that nothing was wrong. july 21, 2019, it was towed again while i was on the long trip. overall, it happened 10 times. car falls on its face. you are not able to accelerate. i hads to tow it 2 times already. the other times i had to wait 30 min or so. when on highway you go 65, it drops to 40, then 20; it sputters and then you have to stop. my nissan altima was moving when the acceleration gave up no matter how strong you push the pedal. the engine light comes on too. i was in logandale nevada. turned the car off. then waited. after 15 min, i was able to start the car and drive it barely at 20 min per hour on highway 15 coming from las vegas to moapa paiute travel plaza gas station. this is so dangerous because other card=s do not kjnow that you have acceleration failure and they drive behind you at 60-70 miles per hour and it can be very scary because you have to come to a complete stop as the acceleration does not work and car goers eventually to 0 miles per hour no matter how hard you push the acceleration pedal. car is still under warranty and nissan needs to address the issue.

I have a 2015 nissan altima with only 38,500 miles on it. i bought it at 31,000 miles. me and my girlfriend recently taken a trip to virginia.we were leaving the last day and we came up to the first light away from the place we were staying at. as i came up to the light my car had jerked really hard slowing down and the rpms went way up. i didn’t really think that was weird as it has done that before on multiple times. when the light turned green i pressed the gas and nothing had happened for a solid 10 seconds it would only rev up to 2 and wouldn’t go past 10 miles per hour. as this light was fast and it was turning yellow as soon as we were going through it the people were honking behind me as my car would not accelerate at all. i pulled over and cut my car off and waited about 5 minutes. i started out again and it had a hard time accelerating and i pulled over again. at this point no lights came on or anything. i thought my car just left us stranded in virginia. i turned it back on again and started out and it was driving normal. i find this unsafe because cars at the light could have started to come through my my car is just teetering along through the fast light

Purchased the car in 2016 with 22,000 miles. at the 2nd oil change, nissan dealership said it needed the cvt reprogrammed. from that point until now, i have complained about juddering, shuddering, delayed acceleration, and just not going when the gas pedal was pressed. the last time it happened before being completely disabled, it left me stranded on an interstate ramp merging into highway traffic, the car just would no go. it acted like it was starting off in 3rd gear, which is very dangerous! when i took it to the local dealership, i was told that if something was wrong with the transmission, the check engine light would come on, but it would cost me $200 for a diagnosis since it was out of warranty. now, my car has 140k miles and is out of warranty, the transmission needs to be replaced and they still won’t do anything about it. i have asked several times about the multiple tsb’s associated with the 2015 nissan altima 4-cylinder cvt, which my car is, and they’ve told me that none of them apply to my car. something needs to be done about this issue affecting millions of customers!

When driving in hot weather or a long distance (60+miles) on streets and/or highway, the vehicle will not accelerate after coming to a complete stop. stopping in bumper to bumper traffic, stop sign, stop light or even after having to do an emergency brake. the vehicle will not accelerate until 5-10 seconds have passed with the acceleration pedal pressed. this issue has caused numerous close rear end accidents just to myself. a normal day of driving turns into a guessing game if i will be rear ended due to this transmission issue. many 2013+ nissan owners have this issue and nissan of america refuses to recall their transmissions. after the vehicle finally starts accelerating, rather hard due to having to hold the acceleration pedal to max for it to move, it loses power when it shifts to the next gear. rpm falls under the optimal rpm for the given speed and feels like you go from 1st gear to 4th gear.

Low-beam headlights are dangerously dim. nissan replaced them voluntarily (no charge) april 9, 2018, because of this problem. now the replaced (new) low-beam headlights are again dangerously dim. i very often have to use my high beams to see properly (street signs, curbs, etc.) which is dangerous to oncoming traffic.

I was driving on the highway this morning and stopped at the light to make the left turn (about 5 minutes into my drive). once the light turned green, i stepped on the gas but the car would not move. i had to turn the car off and turn it back on. pushing on the gas, the car would not accelerate to the more than 40 mph. i turned the car around to go home (about 1 mile away) as i didn't feel it was safe to drive and had to stop at a red light to make the right turn. once stopped, the car would not move. it was still on and no warning lights were illuminated on the dashboard. i turned the car off and back on and was able to slowly accelerate, again no more than 40 mph. this was scary and dangerous. this could have caused a serious accident.

Have shuddering of the car when driving up to 40 mph. took to the dealership (where it has always been serviced) and diagnostics determined a "bad" transmission with identified "judder" code. however, the extended warranty issued by nissan to address to this issue does not currently extend to 6 cylinders, of which mine is. i have an issue with this, as my car is experiencing the same issues as stated in bulletin ntb16-085 and ntb15-015g.

Takata recall.... when vehicle is in traffic on highway at a stand still and you finally get to move the vehicle won't change gears. the rpm will go as high as 8 but the mileage will not go up, it will stay at that lower level speed.

This is the 3rd complaint. i now have no light projecting from a good bulb on the driver side headlight and there is only 1 foot of projection of light coming from the passenger side headlight. i am now driving with my high beams at night. i fear for my safety, the safety of my passengers and the public that i drive behind with my high beams on. nissan needs to fix this defect before someone is hurt or killed. i try not to drive at night, but i do have things i need to do or people i need to see that puts my in driving at night. i love my car and i am close to paying it off, so i won't be going into another car loan. i want nissan to fix this defective issue asap.

Takata recall- this car is the worst and horribly built. if you sit in the car it looks like a nice car but if you take a peak you will see how horrible it is. under the steering wheel you can see the wires hanging out. the fuel on the car is done. we always get the car checked and it’s always something wrong with the fuel. which probably has to do with the 2015 recall that we weren’t properly notified about. the windows do a weird lock thing, where sometimes i think i’m unlocking the window and the door at the same time. i hate that we invested so much into this nissan and it’s probably the worst car ever (and ive only had nissans since i was 16 so that says alot). when your driving the car jerks like it wants to shut off but when we take it anywhere they don’t see the problem. the car is trash.

Break failure by sudden - on 05/09/19 when i try to park my car, i stepped on break and slowly move into parking spot; the break was suddenly drop into vacuum without resistance. my brain reaction by trying to stop a car, but since the break suddenly failure, i changed from break pedal to gas and cause the car to move forward, which had caused an accident.

Persistant poor light production of low beam head lights/ head lamp projectors. have replaced head lamp bulbs with stonger h11 bulbs, including led and you can barely see the road at night. clearly the projector deteriorates or fails as car ages. this is a major safety hazard, as you cannot clearly see the road unless you use hi beam, which is not practical. even with fog lamps turned on, forward view is difficult in night and absolutely dangerous in poor weather conditions. this is while driving vehicle at night, poor weather conditions, dusk, dawn, low light conditions.

I purchased the car nov 2016 and has been occurring since march 2017. randomly, it will tell you that there is no key when you open the door and the key is inside. it will tell you wrong key when you attempt to turn the car on. or low battery when you have a brand new car and wireless entry battery.

Rear driver's door cannot open from the inside. it make fly open while car is in motion. while driving on expressway, i had to slam on my brakes because a car jump in my lane without warning; both passenger and driver seat belts did not snatch back.

The rear driver side door cannot open from the inside. have to let window down to grab the outside handle in order to open that door. reported it to dealership. no recall on vin..the problem was not solved. the door might open while car is in motion.

Transmission will shift into d2 for no reason. occurs frequently.

The headlights on this car continue to get dimmer. they are at the point where it isnt driveable at night. i contacted the dealer because the car is under a certified warranty and they along with nissan corporate told me its not their problem. i even replaced the bulbs with brighter sylvania bulbs but it made no difference. people have similar complaints all over the internet so clearly it is a problem as the car is not safe at night. can you help?

The vehicle has previously been part of a recall related to the passenger airbag sensor in that the sensor would fail to detect a seated adult and display that the passenger airbag was off. the vehicle was reportedly repaired by the dealer service department in 2017, however, the issue has been noted again. attempts to have nissan diagnosis and repair this issue as part of the previous recall campaign were unsuccessful. nissan states that the vehicle is no longer under standard warranty and any costs associated with repair would be the responsibility of the owner. nissan case #36131009. the vehicle has been noted to have the passenger airbag disabled while stationary and in motion.

My 2015 altima is experiencing a sporadic delay when accelerating from a stop. it won’t rev or do anything for a couple of seconds no matter how far down the pedal is. then all of a sudden it’ll go. there is no check engine light on. i took it to pep boys store to see what the problem was. the tech staff experience the same issue i was when he drove my car. he place the diagnostic tool into my car and came up with a code that stated something was wrong with my transmission(p0776 code). because the store don not deal with transmission, i took it to a nissan dealership and told them the issue. after running test they did not find any issue with transmission or no code when they inserted the diagnostic tool into my car. they stated they is must have been clear. what i dont understand is how it's clear when no one have done any work on the car. i believe it only happens when the car has been driven and the engine is hot.. i explain this to them too.

Car does not accelerate if it's been idling for a short period of time, such as the timing of a traffic light. this happens more often if the ac is running. had to mash down on the gas pedal and the car still lagged. the nissan dealership claimed to have fixed the problem but this is still a major issue.

I was driving when a man ran the stop sign and plowed into the side of my car. i could see that he was not going to stop so i swerved and started braking in order to miss him. i had no were to go because there was a guard rail on my drivers side and people sitting at the stop sign that i almost hit head on trying to avoid this guy. he hit me so hard that it broke the passenger side front tire and it totaled my car. but the airbag did not deploy causing me to get tossed and bruised up even though i was wearing my seat belt. there is a problem with the air bags in this vehicle. i do have a police report and an attorney concerning this matter. if you need more information please contact me by email. *dt consumer stated she would follow up on 06/26/19 and has been unresponsive since.*jb

My car kept cutting off when i am driving. it gives no warning on when it going to turn off. very dangerous can get a person kill when driving on the highway.

My car started this issue around 84,000 miles. once a month it looses power usually after i'm stopped. i try to take off it sometimes hesitates for a few seconds and takes off slowly a lack of about 75% power. i had a couple close calls in the city. i get out there and then it acts up while i'm trying to pull out in traffic. it's seems to not shift gears also the engine will just scream. i also learned by shutting car off problem goes away like other peoples cars.

My nissan altima will randomly have delayed acceleration no matter how hard i push on the gas pedal. at red lights sometimes my car will not move for a few seconds. this has happened multiple times.

With no mechanical warning of any type (warning lights or overall vehicle performance), my 2015 nissan altima had the cvt (transmission) fail. the car starting to sputter and act up while driving it, no warning indication of any issues still, and then the transmission failed. stopping all forward motion of the car. after restarting the car, the check engine light illuminated. i am finding that this is a known issue with the nissan 2.4l engines with cvt, no matter the model of vehicle. luckily i was not on a multiple lane highway going 70-80 mph at the time of failure as this is a serious safety concern! had i been driving in rush hour traffic, i could have been stranded in the middle of a high speed traffic lane, putting my life, along with my passengers lives, in danger. in speaking to my local dealership, they see this failure multiple times in a week. had my 16 year old, new driver, been driving this vehicle at the time of failure, we could be dealing with an entirely different situation. this is a defect of the transmission that nissan is knowingly installing in their vehicles even today. nissan did extend the powertrain warranty for multiple models from 2003-2010; however the problem with the cvt has not been resolved even by 2015.

Low beam headlights are very dim. low beam bulbs were replaced, and lights are still very dim. unable to see the road - especially with oncoming traffic, in the rain, and in areas with some street lighting. must use high beams at all times to be able to see the road at night and in the rain. this is an ongoing problem.

On 12/30/2018 i had just left the parking lot of the local walmart and was at a complete stop for a stoplight on the corner of county hwy z and state road 13, waiting to turn left. on the green, i turned and drove approximately 500 feet and my hood flew open to the point of slamming into the roof of the car damaging the vehicle. i pulled over and closed the hood and slowly drove home. when home i checked to see if possible recall on hood. there have been some, i contacted the local dealership after the holidays and was told my vin was not part of the recall, therefore they couldn't fix any damages and i was to contact consumer affairs.

I took my car to be serviced at discount tire shop in hollywood, california. i paid $195.00 to have my brakes replaced, because the brakes were squeaking. i re-quested having my brakes replaced. not once did the tech ask if i wanted my old brakes confiscated. the tech told me that there did not seem to be anything with the brakes. he asked me if i wanted to have the brakes repaired; i told him yes, if it means the squeaking will stop. they repaired the brakes and the squeaking became even worse than before. i demanded my money back from the dealer manager, and he refuses to give me my money back. he drove my car after the repair and my family member and i both heard the car squeaking; however, the manager told us he did not hear any squeaking. to date the brake is still squeak-ing. the manager told me that both he and his children all have altimas, so i assume that he took my brakes to use on one of their cars. he took my brakes and it appears that he did absolutely to my old brakes; because it was on that date squeaking and to date, squeaking even worse than before. i am again requesting that this manager, reimburse me $189.00 for a brake job that was simply no done, or that was incorrectly repaired. (more details will be provided upon request). he stated that ht would reimburse me my $189.00; yet to date, he has not done so. it should be noted: i purchased this car in 2017; my dealer provided me with no type of safety recalls whatsoever, i just learned today that there were recalls. thank you.

While driving at approximately 50 mph on a state highway, when i encounter a hill or attempt to accelerate to maintain speed the vehicle does not respond but instead hesitates and starts to slow. only with a second or third application of pressure to the gas pedal does the vehicle start to accelerate. this has occurred several times within the last month. also, while attempting to enter the interstate from a shopping center that i frequent i have to cross two lanes of high speed traffic to enter the third lane highway entrance. from a standing full stop i apply pressure to the gas pedal, the vehicle advances two or three feet and then comes to a complete stop. additional pressure to the gas pedal produces no forward movement. the engine is running, the gearshift lever is in drive but the car does not move. approaching high speed traffic is now swerving to avoid my stopped vehicle. this life threatening situation has occurred twice in the last month. on both occasions i have brought the vehicle to a nissan dealership for resolution of this problem. on the last occasion the vehicle was left for four days and i gave permission to the technician to operate the car at will to determine the problem. no problem could be detected. the vehicle has 34,000 on it. i believe operating this car in the present condition puts me at great risk. it is apparent to me that the transmission is defective and should be replaced or repaired while it still under warrenty.

The headlights are too dim (low beams). you can't not see 3 feet up front and there is no solution. night driving is a serius safety issue and as the car gets older the problem increases.

Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2015 altima and 2016 maxima vehicles manufactured october 6, 2015, to october 7, 2015. the affected vehicles have front brake calipers whose mounting bolts may not be properly tightened. i crash my car on aug/16 and dec/17. both for the same reason. i lease this car on march/2016. i’m not sure that the dealer fix the problem before leased.

Driving at night is an accident waiting to happen. the headlights are on yet you can barely see ahead of you. at times you are forced to turn on the high beams which endangers other drivers. i had even received a citation for flashing my lights because i was unable to clearly see the street signs. this situation is particularly dangerous when turning. the problem is you cannot see the road clearly and ends up sometimes in the wrong lane. i was making a left one night and ended up too far down the road that i was on. as i was trying to turn, other cars were turning on my right on a one lane road. i just could not see well enough to follow the curve. when riding with other passengers at night, they never fail to alert me to the fact that my headlights are off. i usually have a hard time convincing them that they are wrong.

I bought my 2015 nissan altima new on october 1, 2014. because i usually drive in urban areas with good street lighting, i did not notice my weak low beam headlights until july 2, 2017. i went to one dealership which told me my lights were ok. i subsequently got “warnings” from 2 police officers who told me my lights were too dim. i then took the car to another nissan dealership where no problem was found. i took it back to the first dealership which again found no problem. i then got pulled over a third time. took my car to an independent mechanic who changed the headlights (charged me about $150) which did not help. i then called and wrote to nissan: phone customer service refused to talk to me and my letter to a company officer went unanswered. i then went to another mechanic specializing in headlights, showed them my original and the replacement headlights (both sets were good), so he suggested that i get hid headlights. those cost about $250, and did not help. when i took my car to a nissan dealership in alexandria, va, that dealership diagnosed moisture in my headlights and said that since i’d always gotten maintenance and repairs at a dealership, they would have gotten nissan to split the cost of repairs. but since i’d hadhid headlights installed, i’d have to pay the entire $1,600 cost of repairs myself. i’ve had to drive at night with my high beams on. my headlights are not strong enough to reach the bumper of the car in front of mine while stopped at a traffic light. early next month, i’m going to pay another $500 for a new headlight assembly + installation of fog lights, because the mechanic at the specialized shop (who has a 2014 nissan altima with the same problem) says that this is a faulty design. all in all, i’ll have spent almost $1,000 on a problem nissan knows about and won’t address. i have videos that clearly show this problem.

2015 altima has incurred two separate water leak issues within two months. first, diagnosed as clogged ac drain. this required complete replacement of carpet. this was repaired under warranty. second, diagnosed as faulty firewall grommet on steering assembly. this allowed excessive amounts of rainwater to flood driver side carpet and under dash electrical while driving. nissan claims is not a warranty-able failure due to "nature" being source of water which flooded through firewall. dealer states this has been a common occurrence on 2013-2017 altimas nissan also does not see how failure of firewall grommet (s) could lead to vehicles sinking faster in the event of a water crash.

Dim headlights, florida highway patrol gave me a warning ticket he was concerned with my safety as the lights are so dim. john lee nissan wants $4000 to fix them. i need help. i commute 112 miles to work and i am in fear for my safety and others.

My low beam headlights are very dim making it very hard to drive at night and in dark situations. it is the only vehicle i have and i am a nurse that has to take call and drive at night. my son and i drove at night for a ballgame and i could barely see. i went to auto zone and o’reilly’s and both places told me replacing bulbs wouldn’t help. this is very dangerous.

I was told that my lights seemed very dimmed. being that i live in the city full lights so it's hard to tell but i've noticed the last couple of times i've gone out of town and had to take darker roads, the lighting on the vehicle is terrible. you can barely see 5ft in front of you and that's very dangerous while driving....someone needs to look into this and correct the problem.

Ocs seat system same problem over and over passenger seat occupied indicator light still on

The front passenger side airbag indicator light came on indicating that the front passenger airbag was off. my wife was sitting in the front passenger side seat at the time. she had her seat belt on. i was driving down the road at 70 mph on a highway at the time. i have this on video that shows that this lasted for approximately 12 minutes before the light went off and the airbag system indicated that the airbag would deploy in the event of an emergency. this is 12 minutes where my wife was not protected by an airbag system. the video that i have is from and iphone and is not in a supported file format for uploading. i would be happy to send it to you another way. i contacted the nhtsa about 8 months ago about this issue and have not heard anything. i contacted nisan at the same time and they indicated that without any error codes, there is no proof that this is an issue or is really happening. i have documented video evidence that this in fact did occur. this is a safety issue in which no one seams to care about. you would think that with all of the recent troubles with airbags, someone would take some interest in looking into the root cause of the issue. i am asking the nhtsa to please assist me in getting this safety issue resolved. i contacted nisan again and they have not returned my call.

I own 2015 nissan altima, i want nhtsa to be aware of serious problem with cvt transmission issue. i was on 95 south in washington dc when my vehicle hesitated for several seconds as i pushed my gas pedal all the way to the floor my car would slightly move forward. when i was trying to move to the far right shoulder, i was almost hit by mack truck. my car was barely moves. the almost caused serious accident and possible my life. this happened again today 8/23/2018 on my way to work. i was at stop light i push the accelerator and my vehicle barely moved. i was told by the nissan dealer that it cvt transmission. the dealer said they are getting a dozen 2015 nissan a week with this same issue. this is ridiculous my car is only 3 years old. this is too expensive for me to fix.

I was driving around a little while and when i came to a stop at a stop light i pushed my gas pedal to accelerate forward and my car did not move, as i pushed my gas pedal all the way to the floor my car would very lightly move. finally after moving barely forward my car would go , i had cars almost hit me and people getting enraged i am not moving, this is an ongoing problem now, it happens often and sometimes causing a very serious and dangerous situation. after doing my research many of owners of this year make and model are having the same issue but yet nothing to come out from nissan for recall. i read if you turn your car off and back on it will reset and then the car goes just fine till the next time and that does work but that is dangerous as well. i bought this car as i thought it would be a safe car for my children and myself. this has been a dangerous issue . when we drive it in the heat it happens worst and then will be on the freeway and it will rev the engine really high and not switch down. please nissan tell me you are going to do something for your loyal customers this is the third nissan i have owned. and i have the airbag issue . it wont pick up my son sitting there and he is 160 lbs

Rollaway accident in parking lot on small incline. $ 4500 in damage. no injuries. thank god . at softball game. exited car and did not hear any warning. walked beside and then behind car and did not notice any movement. about 20 seconds later it crashed into a highboy trailer.

Low beam headlights are extremely dim. even after installing new bulbs and even hid and led, the factory halogen bulbs are extemely dim. they are the same brightness as the orange side marker lights. i can not drive my car at night and its a shame nissan wont recall this being their are thousands and thousands of complaints for this body style 2013-2015. i find it very bad that i have to pay $1,000 for the dealership to take my bumper off to install new headlight assemblies which will do the same thing in 2-3 years.

I purchased a 2015 nissan altima 2015 sv in november 2, from queens auto mall in queens, ny. 3 weeks later the car would not go even if i pressed the gas pedal all the way down to the ground. the dealership fixed it and had me pay for the new spark plugs. here i am 3 months later and i had to fix the tpms. the. driving the car a few times long distance. this is what started happening: stopped at a traffic light or stop sign, i would push the gas pedal and nothing would happen for about 5 seconds then it would kick in and accelerate. i went to accelerate after a stop sign and the car wouldn't go pass 10 miles an hour with the pedal to the floor. the rpm was racing between 1.5-3 rpm. this would stop once i pressed the brakes. it started making a racing noise with no gas power, then it would kick in again. i pulled over, shut off the car, and re-started. the car was "normal" again. i let it sit for three hours before driving home. and it started making the noise as if it was going to stall. the next day i took it to a mechanic and they told it was going to cost me $2,000 dollars. he also said that his shop has been fixing this issues on many nissan and that what was going on with nissan. also advised me to take it to nissan and see what they say and do. i have an appointment, but looking up and reading carcomplaints.com i see this issue is huge and nissan should do a recall. not everyone has thousands of dollars to keep paying for the same issue month after month.

I am told at the nissan dealer that they know that the projection lens on the headlights only last about 2 years and then the customer must spend about $1200 to replace the headlight assemblys. the dim headlights are so dim, on unlit roads, you must run the brights at all times in order to see the road and the curb. nissan does not honor any type of warranty on this issue, however they have given their service dept a bullitin so that they know of this problem. this should be a recall.

The headlights on this vehicle have always supplied poor lighting and it has gotten worse each year to the point now it is a safety hazard when driving at night. we have even tried replacing the bulbs at our own expense with brighter ones but it does not help. according to stanhope nissan it is a common complaint with this vehicle and it can only be resolved by replacing the headlight assemblies which would cost over $1000. we have an extended warranty but it does not cover it. i tried contacting nissan with this issue and they don't care. this is a safety issue and there should be a recall, period.

I parked the car for a few minutes left it idling. when i returned, strapped my child in the car seat then got in waiting for her mother. when she got in pulled out of the spot the car hesitated to accelerate, i drove a few miles in what i got to know as limp mode trying to understand what’s going on. when we reached destination, turn car off and then back on it was fine. returned them home then on my way home it happened again. i diagnosed the car and got p0776 solenoid stuck/off. it seems these cars have an issue not being addressed i just buy the car with 68000 miles if this happens again i’m going to the dealer and they better fix it at no cost to me or give me another car i don’t need expensive problems. why hasn’t these car been recalled. clearly this is a safety issue.

Driving on the freeway at 75mph and the car starts jerking and i was unable to accelerate i believed the car would stop. i managed to to get out of the freeway with the speed coming down and then my car gave out . it is a safety concern. sometimes i am at a redlight and my car will not accelerate. i have 70,000 miles on my car.

Air bag light went on so we took it in for service. vehicle has 60k miles and has never been involved in an accident. ed martin fishers in nissan said that replacing the drivers side airbag may fix the issue. its not covered under warranty and the replacement is approximately $1400. how is this not a covered recall or warranty issue. it should't be a wear and tear item and there is nothing we did to break the air bag?

I just called nissan. on june 8 18 i took my car to chandler nissan for pre purchase inspection. they said it had a recall for the transmission, checked it and said everything looked fine. i received a quote on the extended warranty while there. i later called and emailed to extend my warranty but kept getting the run around. fast forward to this weekend, getting on the freeway no acceleration at all. rpm just through the roof. its done that a few times now, since the day i bought it (after inspection) it would lag to accelerate just not totally like it did now. i'm a girl and thought that was normal it just didn't pick up and go and whined a little. todays miles = 61850. called nissan, they will look into it and get back to me... the car had 57468 miles at the time of inspection and was under warranty. the other issue was about a month ago, before i hit 60k the side airbag alert went off. after restarting the car it disappeared. took it to midway nissan and they said could be a faulty sensor or could be a defect in the airbag but its not covered under warranty. they quoted $1400 to fix that. i forgot to tell the nissan rep that when i called but i will do so when they call me back. hoping they will be helpful. i will update as i get more info.

Own a 2015 altima where the headlights are dim and yellow due to internal corrosion and the projector lens is opaque, which diffuses the light output. very poor lighting

The driver'side low beam head light does not provide any side light all or front light greater than 10 feet. the light bulbs for both low beams were replaced with led bulbs 02/03/2019, which made no difference in the driver's side power. the lack of light power makes driving at night extremely difficult especially left turns which has almost caused me to have had an accident due to the inability to see during a left turn. this problem began in june 2017, the car was purchased new in march 2015.

My door latch on the driver side door stopped latching to close the door when letting the window down now door stays open when driving.its not latched the lock isn't catching and door handle to open the door is loose. i was tryi g to close the door and the handle is not latching when i was coming home from the grocery store with mr children they have a recall for the back doors on this type of car but this is the front door doing the same thing as the back door in the recall it's just the front driver side door.

I’ve now replaced my headlights a second time in less than a month and no change. when i drive on streets, highways, or when i turn at dark i have no visibility from my headlights.the lights aren’t proejecting enough light so that i can see three feet ahead of me. other vehicles pull up behind me and their headlights show a shadow in front of me. nissan wants to charge me $200 to look at them to tell me i what’s wrong. i’m concerned for my safety and the safety of others.

As i was driving down i-95 south going 70 mph my car suddenly dropped down to 60 and then 50 mph and no matter how much a pressed the gas, the car continued to lose power. i barely made it to the next exit and had to drive with my hazard lights on so other drivers knew that i couldn’t drive any faster. i pulled into a gas station and let the car sit for approximately 30-45 mins. before attempting to drive the rest of the way home. during the remainder of my drive, the rpm would all of a sudden jump which caused my car to jerk and accelerate forward without warning. had someone been in front of me, i would’ve hit them. as i was taking my car to nissan the next day, my car would stall at red lights and no matter how much i pressed the gas it would take forever to begin moving. this is very dangerous and very scary and i dont feel safe.

"your car has rear disc brakes and that's why they wear out faster" 2. "it depends on who's driving the car" 3. "older cars apply more force to the font than the back brakes, not the new ones" all of these statements are contradicted by sae publication, "vehicle dynamics, stability and control", 2017. dealers would not acknowledge that this condition is a potential safety issue and therefore would not investigate it further. dealer, service rep and service techs are not familiar with basic principles of vehicle operation, safe operation and function. contacted nissan north america, tn (ian) and they would give no technical information or opinion on the apparent unsafe condition of the car and deferred to the "expertise" of the dealer. as indicated above, the dealer displays little or no expertise with regard to this condition.

I have been in a few accidents and my airbags don't work.

Headlights r so dim that at night it seems they are off. the lens cover is not oxidized and the bulbs are only two years old.

Cpsc: i was driving in the rain yesterday when my driver's side windshield wiper fell off of my car into the road. i had to turn my wiper blades off and turn my hazard lights on in order to safely pull into a parking lot. when i got out of the vehicle and checked, i saw that the plastic piece that attaches to the car was still firmly in place, but the rest of the blade appeared to have snapped off. *dt *js

Air bag indicator on dashboard came on suddenly one morning at mileage of 86,500 and would not go off even after re-starting. we took the vehicle to our local dealership were we purchased the vehicle, to be diagnosed. the dealership determined it was a faulty ocs for the occupant side airbag and that it would not be cover even though we had a gold 120,000 extended warranty with no-deductibles. this is one of he excluded parts not covered under the extended warranty. i reached out to nissan consumer affairs on 11-30-18 after discussing with the dealership and spoke with a helen employee #7319348 and was assigned case# 33678608 and was told someone would get back to me by the end of the day 12-3-18. on 12-3-18 brandan fro nissan consumer affairs called back, but i missed his call. i returned his call and left messages for him to call me back on 2 more occasions but did not hear back from him. on the morning of 12-5-18 i called him again and was able to speak with him. brandan employee # 33678608 told me that they would not be covering the part or labor involved (approx cost according to dealership of $450 for parts and labor). i explained to him that this particular vehicle had a total of 8 recalls documented under the nhtsa of which 3 of dealt with the occupant side airbag and ocs (#16v911000, #16v24400 and #15v681000) and that it was a safty issue and was no fault of ours and based upon all this information the correct thing to do would be to cover this issue. he apologized over-and-over but would not commit to cover this. it is of my opinion and the opinion of the dealership that this issue is most likely related to any one of those 3 recalls and i am therefore calling upon the nhtsa to assist with this by adding this as another recall and allowing us to get reimbursed for the issue as well as to protect other owners that may encounter the same issue.

The plastic hanging rod of driver side sun visor was broken and dropped while driving, blocking the view of driver. i was surprised to find out the hanging rod is made of plastic, since the visor needs to be inserted back to position with force and is used on daily basis. after online search, i have realized this problem is common for nissan brand. the dealership asks more than $200 plus tax for this part. i have a prefered gold extended warranty, which does not cover this defective part. my car is 2015 model. how can a manufacturer use a plastic for a hanging rod , because it is hidden underneath the fabric of the visor? it is a fraudulent design using a plastic, which can not sustain the force and destined for failure. it is a safety issue, since it failed while i was driving and dropped in front of me, blocking my view of road.

I have nissan altima 2015 for 4 years. i have a real problem with headlights that limited my driving during night or dark situation. the first year of my car, the headlights were fine and work, but in the second year, headlight becomes more dimer. on the second year, i took it for va inspection, and the inspector told me to take care of your headlights. after a while i noticed, it becomes more dimer. i cannot see 10 feet in front of my car. i almost hate two person and many times i hated the island or midden. i am ok and the car did not have big damage or problem. today, i took it for yearly inspection, and the inspector did not pass the inspection in the same kind of condition. i promise her that i fix my car and show it to her in two weeks. otherwise, she never passed my inspection in next year.

I have experienced an increase in loss of roadway visibility due to the malfunctioning and dimming of my 2015 nissan altima headlights. i have made several documented complaints to nissan motor corp and my local nissan dealer in bradenton and brandon, who advised it would require me to pay a costly repair out of pocket. the problem has worsen. i am unable to drive my vehicle at night, limiting my schedule to an almost halt when leaving from work. my commute is long and dangerous.there has been near miss car accidents on several occasions while in motion on highways and roadways. the dim lighting is posing a risk to me as a driver, i am visually impaired as well, please help soon.

The drivers side sun visor flops down when driving. the part is defective that holds it up. creates a safety issue because it blocks visibility. the part broke and nissan is refusing to cover. in addition the extended warranty that was purchased is also refusing to cover the part. this is dangerous since the drivers side visor blocks sun from blinding me when driving but having it blocking my view completely can cause an accident. this is an ongoing issue with the visor. it is also in the murano and the pathfinder yet they are claiming this is a wear issue that somehow i am at fault for. this needs to be addressed. nissan continues to knowingly install defective parts in their cars which can cause an accident.

My headlights started dimming over a year ago, and i can't even see the ground in front of my car at night. i've complained to orr nissan, bossier city, la and they act as though they don't know what i'm talking about. i need this fixed by them immediately before a tragedy occurs.

A few weeks ago my nissan altima 2015 would not accelerate when i came to a stop and pressed on the gas. i had to almost floor it for it to even go and then it would accelerate slowly. i got it looked at and it drove fine after i turned the car off and it was fine for a few weeks. then a few days ago it did the exact same thing again, every stop i made it would not accelerate until i pressed on the gas hard then it slowly started moving, only this time the rpm went crazy and it started shutting down and wouldn't go at all, it completely stalled. i thought my car was not able to drive it so called the tow truck. once the tow truck got it to the dealership it started and worked fine again. they ran a diagnostic test and said it may be internal transmission which will cost 1500$ if that is all it is if they go in and it doesn't correct the problem then i will need a whole new transmission. they said my warranty should cover it but may not cover all of it. my car is only 3 years old it should not need a new transmission. i hope this does not happen again. when i felt the car doing the same thing i took the back roads instead of the freeway. imagine if my car stalled in middle of freeway or if someone was behind me and hit me because it just stopped working. no engine light and no warning of any kind came on.

While parallel parking on the street next to my home, my car experienced a sudden acceleration. i had pulled into the space between the two vehicles in the photo provided. while my foot was on the brake, and the car stationary, i placed the gear selector into reverse in order to back away from the car in front. as i started to release the brake, my car unexpectedly accelerated. i pressed against the brake. with the wheels skidding along the asphalt and having the front wheels turned slightly, the car hit the curb and the car behind me. all cars pictured are family members cars. i have contacted the nissan complaint hot line. they informed me that there is a update for the control unit, but that what i had experienced is not a condition for the update.

Took my nissan to jeff wyler kings nissan in cincinnati, ohio on october 16th after i was made aware of a service bulletin to reprogram cvt transmission. picked up car that afternoon drove it rest of day and the next day my check engine light came on. took it back to the dealer and they ran a diagnostic test and said i needed a new transmission at a cost of $4200. my car is almost 4 yrs old with 84,000 miles on it. the tech said the reason for the reprogramming was to pick up on the issues in the transmission and tech told me that this problem could have been there for months and even a year or so and the computer not throw the engine code because of either faulty transmission or transmission program. i just feel its extremely fishy that after they reprogrammed the transmission the very next day engine light comes on and need a new transmission. i have called nissan and have a case # or ca # of 33093284 and am asking nissan to cover the transmission under warranty.

The dunlop tires which came with the new 2015 nissan altima i bought in january of 2015 were manufactured in 2013. since i bought the car, i was loosing air in all four (4) tires. i complained to the dealer twice and they could not find any problem. so i went and i bought an air pump which i used almost every week to fill in the air i was losing. recently, while i was driving with my grandchildren, one of the tires lost 15 points pressure within one mile on the road. it was a zipline fracture according to the mechanic who replaced the tires for me. i contacted both dunlop and nissan and both kept on throwing the problem on each other. dunlop offered to give me a replacement credit to be used for dunlop/goodyear tires which i do not trust. nissan refused to hear my complaint because they do not warrant tires even though i bought the dunlop tires with the new vehicles. i do not trust either of the two companies because they do not stand behind their product. thank god that we did not sustain any injury or death but the 2013 tires were really defective since i bought the car.

Car will suddenly lose ability to accelerate during hot or cold weather. when this happens, the car will hesitate to move for about 5 seconds then will suddenly begin to accelerate at a very low speed. if i pull over and turn the car off for a few minutes, it behaves normally again. i have almost been involved in several accidents this winter and summer when this has happened in heavy traffic. please help.

I was driving down the highway when my rpm gauge raced overv7000 then dropped to 0 and i lost all ability to control the transmission. engine light came on afterwards. called nissan and had it checked out and was told it was the cvt transmission and that it is common for this to happen with no warning.?nice hazard as i was almost rear ended on the highway when it happened and nissan said since it had 115k miles nothing they would do about it

I can not see at all with my regular headlights on (low beams)..it is a terrible safety hazard and i drive around with my 3 year old everyday andnight...it’s sooo bad and i was shocked to hear that nissan is taking zero responsibility for this...there are so many complaints about this....they should friken do something cause it’s very unfair that now i have to pay for friken new headlights and shell out over $600 for friken defected headlights....never ever buying a damn nissan ever again...if they don’t eventually (sometime soon) take care of this....& do the right thing by their customers....

The first time i noticed this problem was on a girls trip to rockport, tx on sept 1, 2018. one of the ladies asked if my headlights were on. i said yes. she asked me to pull over so she can confirm. she confirmed the lights were on. on september 23, 2018 i was coming back home on a dark highway with my sister when we found could not see three feet in front of the vehicle. it appeared as though i had no headlights on. i pulled over to check and the headlights were on. i got back in the car and drove to the first open auto parts place i could find on a sunday night around 8pm. the man suggested bulb replacement. i replaced the bulbs. however, on october 20, 2018 i was again driving and on a dark road with a lot of people walking on the side and i nearly hit a person because i didn't see them because of the poor lighting come from the headlight. i went back to the auto parts store and the man suggest a more expensive bulbs and as of today october 25, 2018 i still have the same problem. i am in fear of my life and the people in my vehicle. i am about to drive to arkansas in two weeks. this is a safety hazard to drive this way. all cars driving next to me have much more significant lighting for the road. nissan needs to recall and replace these defective, dangerous, headlights that are failing so no one become a casualty.

Headlights have become extremely dim on low beam. cannot see even a few feet ahead, cannot see anything on the sides like curbs. makes it treacherous to drive after dark. i almost hit a pedestrian twice in the last month because i could not see them without the brights on. barely bright enough to pick up on the reflective buttons that mark lanes. can't see enough of the street to make turns, without running the risk of missing the lane and hitting the curb or another vehicle. the problem just arose in the last 2-3 months. prior to that the headlights seemed fine, and i do a lot of night driving. some with city streetlights, and some on roads with minimal lighting. lights may have dimmed gradually, but i first noticed it in late august, early september 2018. at that point it was a very noticeable change. 2 passengers have pointed out that they didn't think i even had the headlights turned on. on high beam, the lights work wonderfully. unfortunately, that is not safe to use when facing oncoming vehicles or with vehicles in front of you. this is not an oxidation issue of the lens cover. the lens is crystal clear still, and the car is just now about 4 years old. has 55000 miles on it. it seems there are quite a few complaints about the low beam headlights for nissan altimas. i'm afraid someone will get killed in an accident before anything is done to correct the issue. please investigate the problem and help prevent such a tragedy.

I keep reading the same exact story as mine, yet no recalls or help for this problem on so many nissan altimas. sitting still at a redlight, light turns green, your foot is on accelerator but nothing happens for five to ten seconds. finally the engine begins to rev. extremely scary when turning in front of traffic. can also happen when going down the road and all of a sudden the tachometer races, engine races, and wont come down until you pull over and turn the car off and immediately turn it back on. this resets something and everything is okay then. turning it back on resets the problem so it's obviously a simple issue but it is a very dangerous problem. my whole family has come close on several occasions of being in a serious wreck due to this persistent problem. i'm shocked that nissan hasn't had a recall on this. i read on the internet that there is a recommendation that the valve body be replaced, but this is not in effect for my particular vin number. you asked below when this happened. it has happened ever since i had the vehicle for the past two years. sporadically, maybe once every two to three weeks.

The airbag light is on the car and wont come off

We purchased the car new in 2014 and always took it to the dealership to have oil changes and tire rotation. we noticed the low tire signal coming on from time to time. i got a small nail in the front tire and took it to a garage to get it removed. the car just turned over 40,000 miles. we told the attendant we were going on vacation the next week and he checked all 4 tires. that is when we found out that the 2 rear tires belts were breaking on the inside and the inside tire treads had unusual wear.no one should have to buy new tires with only 40,000 miles.

My nissan altima cvt transmission is going up again. this is the third time and nissan had my car for almost three weeks and i had to call and see a status and if i didn't i still wouldn't of got a call about it. they told me they did a software update on the control module of the transmission and there is a note in my account that i can bring it up as many times as i need to with no charge to me. are you kidding me red flag, and lets not forget this is the third time they had my vehicle on the same problem and this is a red flag for not knowing how many more times this will happen in the future but it will happen. the cvt transmission is a vehicle with no reliability with it, costs you an arm and leg, and the car is crap. they all need to be recalled. the vehicle makes a whiney nose going down or up hills, the rpm's get stuck in 2nd gear and don't let you go above 20mph unless you take your foot off and then stomp it to the floor to kick it out of gear, and the car tries to overdue your driving to do its own. the transmission is crap and needs to be recalled after all the reviews out there saying the same thing from 2008 to at least 2015 or 2016.

Car shudders at low rpm acceleration and sometimes stalls when turning on to a busy street. told by dealer transmission needs to be replaced. car has 46000 miles and a branded title. car restored to perfect condition after minor accident. nissan refuses to acknowledge any further warranty due to the branded title. the reason for complaint is that there is a high percentage of these vehicles with this same transmission issue. under normal circumstances the warranty would cover the powertrain for up to 60,000 miles regardless of the extended powertrain warranty that nissan has granted to other altima owners with this problem.

Headlights are extremely dim. i got pulled over twice because my headlights were to din or appear to be off. i have replaced the bulbs but it remained the same. this needs to be recalled immediately because it a safety issue when driving in the rain and at night. i drive a lot at night and i have to use my high beam and that makes it dangerous for other drivers because it distracts them. why won't nissan recall this issue?

Driving down the highway, all power shut down to vehicle. barely got it off roadway. would not restart. mechanic said it needs a new fuel pump.

Last month i took my altima to my dealer for service. my car shut down on me twice earlier in the week & i was unable to get it started again. while driving down the roadway it would completely lose power.

When i parked my car my fuel light was not on i had 111 miles on my dash when i started my car in the morning my low fuel light was on saying low gas and as i drove the mileage went down below 60. i’ve also noticed lately that my gas just runs out a lot faster than normal.

Brakes have been squeeking for a year. took it in for service and they claimed brake dust and that they are ceramic brakes. utterly annoying and it is only a year old. squeek happens anytime brake is pressed.

When temperatures are 15 degrees, or lower the engine makes a loud rumbling and knocking noise when started up. the colder it is the louder and longer it last. generally it takes 5-10+ minutes before it quiets down. second issue is; regardless of temperature, when accelerating on a grade it also makes a rumbling noise. the car has 57,000 on it and is very good condition otherwise

Since original purchase (new) 11/30/14, the passenger airbag indicator system has not worked correctly. 3 complaints ( on site, in writing) thru nissan dealer have not corrected problem. question is, will passenger side airbag work if in a collision? malfunction may result in major injury or death. dealers only explanation is to wait 15 seconds before driving with a passenger. indicator system works and fails indiscriminately.

Takata recall: both my previous nissan altima 2007 and my current altima has sporadic signals of the airbag being off when driving down the road. since it is inconsistent i have been unable to take to dealer to pinpoint this issue. i feel that it may be a safety issue. i am the passenger and heavy enough to activate airbag. this form does not allow me to show how many times or dates this happens.

Low beams are extremely dim. it is very difficult to see at night. even harder to see if there is rain. replacing the bulb to the highest degree does not solve problem. many owners have complained of the same problem. nissan is aware but has not recalled. this is a major safety issue. i can only see with the high beams. this causes problems for other drivers. please at least investigate this issue.

The front passenger side airbag indicator light intermittently indicates that the passenger airbag is off when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. this generally happens when i first turn the vehicle on and there is someone already sitting in the front passenger seat. if i shut the vehicle off and turn it back on then the airbag light will go off indicating that the airbag is on. i took it to the nissan dealer and they said that the computer does not show a problem and that there is nothing that they can do about it. they told me that the airbag system was under warranty through 99,999 miles or 2030 if there is an incident it would be covered. that is not very reassuring to hear that if the airbag fails it will be cover under warranty.

Takata recall. when driving the vehicle approximately 65 mph on the freeway, the vehicle slowed down significantly to about 30 mph and i could not accelerate. soon after the check engine light came on. i took my car to autozone and did a system check, i received the error code p2101 detecting the throttle actuator control to be an issue. the next day, when my car was in park my rpms were up to 2,000. when beginning to drive, i would release the brake and without hitting the gas i would go upwards of 25 mph. the amount of time that i drive the vehicle does not matter and there is no in between, the car is either rearing to go or wants to come to a complete stop.

Greetings, i am writing this complaint to notify the nhtsa of a deadly problem with the cvt transmission in the nissan altima! i have experienced this where the vehicle either turns off, stutters, or and hesitates for several seconds. this hesitation is deadly because when pulling out or merging on to a highway there is loss of power and this will cause a fatal accident due to the vehicle not accelerating as expected. in fact, this issue is so prevalent that nisaan reprogrammed the transmission control module (tcm). this half measure is little too little too late as transmission damage has already occurred and it leads to premature failure. this failure leads to the vehicle being a hazard in traffic. i personally have dozens of accounts where this has happened to me. the most recent was on 12/11/17 while driving on a busy street when the car simply lost power and died in the middle of the street. a car behind swerved excessively to avoid hitting me and in doing almost had an accident with another motorist! the car had to be pushed into a nearby parking lot and was towed to the dealership. the dealership ran a diagnostic and confirmed the transmission needed to be replaced. i found this rather dubious as the vehicle is a 2015. i began investigating this issue further. upon further investigation, i found this problem is extremly prevalent with this model. there are thousands of incidents of owners having an experience akin to mine. nissan is aware of this problem and has yet to admit fault. the reprogramming of the tcm is a clear indication nissan is aware of the issue and is attempting to remedy it by eliminating certain shift points; however, it is inadequate and the damage has already been done. the lives of people are at stake with this transmission! is it just of matter of time before the loss of life will occur because of this faulty cvt transmission! thank you!

I bought our 2015 nissan altima s brand new from fenton nissan east, in del city, ok, in less than a year, the brakes starts making very loud squeaky noises, whenever the car is in motion, and i apply the brakes. i took this car to have it looked at, at hudiburg nissan dealership, oklahoma city, ok and they did something to it that got rid of noise for a week, then, the high pitched noise came back, when in motion and i apply the brakes. a little later, i took my car to fenton nissan east dealership in del city, and the service woman said "i have lots of customer complaints about these nissan altima cars and there is nothing that can be done but switch out the brake system and replace it with another. she said it would cost me $400.00 or live with the noise." i believe this is a hazardous issue that should be fixed before someone gets killed because the brakes are not working properly. today, december 14, 2017 the high pitched noise is pretty constant, whenever i drive the car and apply my nissan altima s brakes. god forbid, that i ever have to apply my brakes quickly. yes, i am afraid that my brakes will give out, in the event of an emergency.

Takata recall - is this vehicle subject to recall? also, the passenger side airbags will only deploy when the passenger weighs over ~110 lbs. my wife is 5'2" & weighs 106 lbs. which is the proper weight for someone her size. when she sits in the seat the airbag light remains on, telling us she is not protected by airbags. if 40,000+ people lives have been saved by airbags, why does the industry allow lighter weight passengers to not be protected? is this a recall issue?

I own a 2015 nissan altima - as i was driving down i95 south in washington dc, the car starting revving and jerking. no warning lights came on, and while driving 65 miles per hour, it became very unsafe. i brought it to the nissan dealer and they said the transmission (cvt) is bad and needs to be replaced - $4300 and not covered by warranty because of 79k miles on the car. i checked on-line and their seems to be a ton of cvt transmission issues with nissan, to include some class action suits. when talking to the service rep here, he said they see it all the time. i am not sure why there hasn't been a recall on this. driving a relatively new car (2 years old) that stops / revs / jerks with out warning is extremely dangerous and i am not the only one complaining!

My car caught fire and was totaled. i had been smelling something the day before it caught on fire. i was driving on the city street and i smelled the smell i had been smelling stronger and i looked at the hood and it was smoking. i pulled over and more smoking started pouring out from my car. then the dashboard went off. i got out and called 911 and by the time they got there the front of my car was on fire. after it was put out the fire had burned through just about everything under the hood.

Takata recall passenger side airbag sensor is functioning abnormally. it will show the airbag off when there is no one and nothing in the seat at times and then will show the airbag to be functioning at others. it will also be erratic when i am sitting in the passenger side. i weight 120 lbs. most times the airbag will show it is off and only register on for brief periods.

Has a hesitation on take off, like it does not move when you push the accelerator. a very bad dead spot. makes it very dangerous to get on the highway or standing by a stoplight. this has happened when we stop at a stoplight, the car won't move forward

Headlights are extremely dim after reaching about 75,000 miles. i mostly do day driving for work, but use the car a night for home use too. i’ve replaced the headlights twice now -each time getting the next brighter version headlight, but they’re still, literally as bright as a candle. cars behind me cast shadow in front of me at night and i can’t see anything unless i put on my brights. cars in front of me get annoyed with my brights.

When starting from a dead stop, pressing down on the accelerator peddle no forward car acceleration, no increase in rpm. after a short period of time ( 2-3) seconds fast increase in rpm and fast forward acceleration. this is very unsafe when trying to merge from a dead stop and expecting forward motion and there is none. this has been a nissan problem since 2008 and no fix or test when taken to dealer. this is a sporadic problem only noticed from a dead stop, city streets going straight or making turn on start, gas tank quantity no issue in this problem.

When using speed control, the vehicle surges on slight downhill inclines. it repeatedly behaves as if the accelerator is depressed then the brake.

When placed on park the car still rolls forward or back and almost caused an accident. the car pulls when driving in a slow speed of 5-20 mpr and sometimes the floor on the driver side vibrate. also, the electrical buttons located on the steering wheel are unable to be used when on parked or driving. the volume or phone or selection switch does not work again...

My vehicle has an issue where the passenger airbag is not active when an adult occupant is sitting in the passenger seat. the passenger airbag indicator lights up and indicates the passenger airbag is "off" when an adult occupant is sitting in the passenger seat. even though there is an open recall (nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000) for this particular problem onmy vehicle. however, when i enter my vehicle identification number into the nhtsa website, it does not show any outstanding recalls for my vehicle. nhtsa and nissan should double check the vehicles affected as part of the recall. the number of vehicles affected maybe greater than originally estimated since my vehicle was not part of the recall, yet it is experiencing the exact same symptom as outlined in nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000

I bought a used 2015 nissan altima on 6/23/2017 with approx. 47,000. around 6/30/17 the car would not accelerate while driving over 40mph and the rpm was going all the way over to 8 & 9. the car sounded like it was not shifting into gear. i had to pull over, cut off the car and crank it back up again. there have been several times since then, when i'm at a light that the car will not accelerate over 5-10 mph and i have the pedal pushed all the way down to the floor. i took it to the nissan in tuscaloosa, al on 08/21/17 to correct the cvt transmission open recall. i'm not sure if this will solve the problem due to them not finding any codes and test driving the car. i thought the transmission had blown up on 08/21/17 and had to immediately pull over (my son was in the car) on the side of the road.

I am having problems with lack of acceleration when in traffic, car will not move when the accelerator is pushed no response other than a turtle crawl. became very random in beginning roughly 2-4 months ago progressing into daily to and from work, initially it seemed to be more frequent when car was hot or at normal operating temperatures and now is still sporadic but happens sometimes within 5 minutes of operation. the next issue is the horn will not sound unless it is hit in a very specific way, i am very concerned about this due to safety issues and the inability to remember how to hit the sweet spot in emergency situations. later today i will be making videos of this default and then taking to dealer for the second time to have repaired or replaced.

This is the second nissan altima that i've had. a vehicle ifo me will throw a rock and cause my windshield to crack; not chip. nissan doesn't make good windshields. both of my vehicles along with multiple people that i know have had the same crack on their altima. please consider the material they use or the actual windshield to be defective.

After the car had its firmware updated due to a recall, we noticed the passenger airbag sign lit even though the front passenger seat was occupied by a 250 pound male. the light came on while we were driving, stayed on for a few minutes, and then went out. it has only happened this one time.

On or around 6/20/16 i received a nhtsa ans nissan north america, inc recall notice regarding the occupant classification system (ocs) in my vehicle. i scheduled an appointment for 6/28/16 with nissan of union city, where i purchased my vehicle. my vehicle was serviced on the aforementioned date, and i was informed by nissan of union city that the recall malfunction was corrected. however, that is not the truth. the ocs has apparently been turned off completely, thereby causing a safety risk to myself and my passengers. with this function turned off, the vehicle restraint system may not work. i need the system to be tested because i have not been assured of the safety of the system by nissan of union city after the issue was allegedly corrected by them. please investigate my complaint.

While driving on intersate highway i77 in july 2016 with an outside air temperature of ~100f the sunroof exploded / shattered for no apparent reason. the inside sliding panel was closed so no passengers were affected by flying glass.

I agree with others about nissan needing to repurchase/compensate for all the issues.this vehicle feels very unsafe and they just push it all off. the power steering makes varying loud,annoying,distracting, whining noises the entire time you drive it. the car hesitates and jerks while driving or trying to drive from a stop which feels very unsafe and makes me worry about being hit. there are so many problems that are unsafe with the 2015 altima and nissan refuses to admit them and constantly says "everything is normal" or 'its the way that transmission works". a huge waste of time and energy trying to deal with nissan. they also kept insisting to me that the airbag light coming on while a grown adult was seated was "normal" as well until all of a sudden there was a recall...just to show how they lie and cover everything up .i bought this car brand new in december 2015 and have had these issues since. have been to dealership many times for the issues as well as having a nissan tech come to assess but of course everyone sticks together and states it "all normal".there are also problems that are not safety issues but value issues such as the xm service that is horrible but you pay for and the cheap build of the vehicle/paint.

I purchased my 2015 nissan altima brand new from the dealer. in sept 2015 at 25,000 miles, while driving in the middle of the freeway, the car slow down as if i was driving in a low gear. the rpm went up, but the car is moving very slow. i stop the car and called the service department. they told me to stop and park the car then restarted the car after giving it serval mins of cooling down. i took the car the service the next day, they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. i continue to drive the car for another six or so months then the same happened again. i took the car back to the service department, no problem was found again. couple months later, the car stop in the middle of the road. i took the car in, still no problem ws found. they said they can't mimic the problem and asked that i contiue to drive and stop and park if the problem arise. i told the supervisor/manager at the service department that i don't feel safe driving my family around in a car that stop in the middle of the road but can't find anything wrong. i don't know much about the car, but it has to do with transimition because of the check engine light. i felt that the service department is prolonging the real problem because the car is still under the warranity, and i felt that the problem will be discover once it's out of the warrnity coverage. i have two major concerns: 1. i am worry for the safety of my family when i am driving them around the car that can stop anytime in the middle of the road and cause the accident. 2.i am worry, i'll be making a payment for a car that i can't drive once it is no longer be cover under the warranity and it will costs thousand of dollars to get it fix.

Car was brought brand new. did not have any problems until one day my husband was driving to the dealership to have the car scheduled maintenance done at 3000miles. while driving, the steering wheel went stiff and hard to control. he managed to drive to the dealership without hurting himself and getting into an accident. the dealership stated that the electric steering pump was the problem and car has to stay for 4 days and they changed the steering pump. a few days after, i was driving the car to work which is about 2 miles or less away from home, the steering wheel went stiff on me while i was making a turn to the parking lot. i had to step on the break to avoid hitting the electric pole. went to the dealership, they said that they needed to repair the wiring harness and something about a rust y nut that they needed to polish so it would not lose contact with the electric system??? im not sure about that part though. it was my husband and the service advisor who had that talk. my concern now is that we feel that we have a lemon car. tried contacting nissan corp but they said that all repairs have been done and if it happens again that they will review the case. my point is, the car is unsafe to drive. the steering wheel will give out on you while driving and might cause an accident. please advise us on what to do with this. i almost had one in this car, i don't feel safe hauling my two kids in this vehicle anymore but nissan would not do anything about it- well i guess not until we have an accident. i could not even bear to trade the car in because the next owners might have the same problem... please help!

The cvt transmission in the 2015 frontier is probably going to fail after 50,000 miles. most of the time it works, but on occasion it stutters on acceleration from a standstill, or vibrates excessively in general. when, not if, the transmission fails it could cause serious injury or death because the car did not accelerate when it was expected to.

Brake issue, abs, traction, while driving my car at 15 mph my brakes locked up and stopped my car in the middle of the road (with traffic) fairly forceful stop i might add. there has also been a grinding noise when applying the brakes at random time. 1 week prior to the issue with the brakes my driving assist sensors malfunctioned. after obtaining a rental car the saturday that my brakes failed i was told that monday morning that my car was fine and that my brakes failed when my driver assist sensors malfunctioned a week prior. talk about scary and my family no longer feels safe in my car. nissan told me this was a normal function of the car and there was nothing they could do about it. there is also according to nissan rep an unknown clanking noise coming from the suspension and or steering. i truly believe that with all of these issues going on there is a huge risk of my family being in harms way.

Car in motion passager side air bag senor comes on and says off when someone setting in seat

The driver's side blind spot warning light constantly goes on & off. it has always done this & dealership cannot find anything wrong. the passenger side has done it in the past but i haven't noticed it lately. it is very annoying & now i turn the system off most of the time.

My car which was purchased less than a month ago, is back at the dealership for the third time. the car continues to have many issues. there is a shimmy/vibration in the steering column as well as vibration in the door, accelerator and floor boards. it often seems that there are problems with the suspension as well as the brakes. the most important issue is that the car continues to drive off the road to the right and you have to force it out of a right-hand turn. although this problem also seems to occur to the left as well, it is not as apparent. what is apparent, is when you try to compensate for the drifting, it over-compensates to the other side and it never feels as though the tires are holding the road at all times. it is practically impossible to manage the car on the highway. this issue is a huge safety issue that is not only putting the lives of myself and my family in danger but the lives of the others on the road as well. i have absolutely no confidence that this car can be repaired to any level of safety.

While driving 3-5 mph in a roundabout, the right front brake engaged on its own, locking the right front wheel. this caused the car to shake and the right wheel screeched to a halt while the left wheel could still move. i immediately pressed the brake to stop the car. i had to press and release the brake at least twice before the right front wheel brake unlocked. i drove to my home less than 1/3 mile away and examined the right front wheel. i could smell burning rubber and the wheel was very hot. during the 16 months i have owned this car, there have been several instances where it seemed the front brakes were engaging for no reason. these incidents occur when i am merging onto the highway or rounding a curve at speeds greater than 45 mph. it feels like one or both front brakes are engaging briefly and immediately releasing, even though i am not pressing the brake pedal. the front end of the car will shake and it feels like the front wheels are wobbling as if they are loose. i checked both wheels after these incidents and could not visually identify any problems. neither wheel was loose or worn.

Vehicle gets 28 mph on highway for long distance travel. vehicle is advertise to get 36 on highway. two trips of 9 to 10 hours on highway (non-mountain)shows 28 mph. third trip 4.5 hours shows 28 mph on highway. vehicle gets the same 28 mph city. extremely poor mileage on highway. i have continuously reported this problem to nissan dealership,and was told by service manager the computer had to catch up with the car.

At any given moment while at a stop light or stop sign would step on gas to continue driving when the vehicle does not accelerate; it hesitates to go for a second or two then the vehicle well accelerate. for example if the vehicle suppose takes 2 sec to reach 35 mph the vehicle would take 5 sec to reach 35 mph. this has accord on the streets after making a complete stop. the hazard that i am concern is when trying to make a turn there is a possibility of being hit by another vehicle because of the slow reaction of making my turn.i have talked to the maintenance at nissan and told them the issue but was told that if none of the sensor are going off then the car is fine. however, it is still doing it . i have taken the car back to the dealer two times and they can not find anything wrong. their machines are not detecting anything. i noticed that this is more of an issue after driving for an hour. i am worried about my safety and the safety of others.

Bought this car less than three months ago... on friday february 12th 2016, i parked my car in the garage when i got home from work... then on saturday the 13th, i went in the garage and there was a massive crack starting just a few inches above the bottom right (passenger side) and extending over 12 inches toward the center. there was absolutely no reason for this to occur! i am so upset! i have gone out of my way to take extra extra extra great care of my new car and then this crack came out of nowhere! i took it to the dealers a few days ago and they said they can't cover it... i've researched this a ton and will be filing complaints everywhere until i get this resolved. this was literally the most random/heart breaking this ever ! there is no reason why this should have happened. i am so upset with nissan and fully regret deciding to purchase an altima! this should be recalled already!!!

2015 nissan altima, with 21,000 miles. consumer constantly heard loud whining from transmission when first operated and got progressively worse when merging on freeway. complained to dealership, brought car for oil change and left with a rental car. 4 days later received a call from dealership that they are going to replace the whole transmission.

My altima is only 2 months old and did not start 4x already. it seems to do this first thing in the morning when the car is cold. my steering wheel is vibrating constantly and i can feel a vibration with my foot on the accelerator. there is a loud noise like a constant dentist drill under my hood that is louder every time i turn. the dealership just replaced my power steering pump and there is no change! my passenger airbag light is on when there is a passenger in the car. it will go off during drive time. it does not matter if i have my purse, a bag, heavy books or a person-it sporadically goes off and on while i am driving. i do not feel safe knowing the airbag will not deploy in a crash! lithia nissan has checked the sensor, but it is still doing it. i owned a 2008 altima and 2011 altima that never required service other than oil changes and air in my tires. i am very disappointed with this 2015 piece of junk! i can hear wind noise no matter what speed i am driving. i feel like i am in a crash test every time i slow down. nissan tech said it is the new cvt transmission. honda, lexus, toyota, mercedes and audi have cvt and it is a smooth ride! why does nissan cvt jerk you around? the car is so cheaply made the speakers are popped up and paint is chipping. i have reported my issues to nissan corp. and bbb. the newest issue is the rpm rev up as i sit at red lights. i want nissan to rebuy this car back!

When stationary and driving, the front passenger side airbag says off when my wife is sitting in the front passenger seat. she weighs 106 lbs. the light will go off eventually but comes on all the time she is sitting in the seat. it goes on whether on a city street or highway at any speed.

The passenger side front seat sometimes will not detect an adult occupying the seat and disables the air bag for that passenger. adults ranging in weights from 115 pounds to 120 pounds. it appears like a manufacturing defect.

Nissan altima 4d sedan 2.5s felt and looked great at 17 odometer readings. overtime it has lost power and has made me have a rough time on highway than usual. going at speeds of 55-75+ all seats feel as if they're going to detach from the bottom compartment. wheels on this sedan are at recommended psi 35-40 yet going at 55-75 speeds it feels as if i'm riding a horse with different types of measures on each side. front window along with rear end window have both been dislocated from its original position. my car is slowly breaking down at 7.2k miles brand new. recently went back to the dealership car loan was made and obviously everything was fine. i'm not going to deal with their little game. it's a matter of time until the body on this sedan breaks apart. i have had no car accidents, problems began as first oil change was performed nov 11 2015. it's becoming very difficult to manage vehicle on highway as it goes left or right as wind hits front/rear. have personally tried figuring out what the problem is have noticed a lot of black goo rear area by tires, front end, under back seats, under passenger and driver seat. at times i feel as if the right side is suspended a bit more than the left, and vise versa. noise level has increased significantly with all windows and doors closed. somethings definitely wrong with the structure of this vehicle nhtsa, i'm asking for an investigation helping me and others with this problem.

Low beam headlights dangerously low light levels while driving during night time conditions. high beams are almost always used to drive at night, as the cars low beams are unfit to drive. contacted manufacturer, supposedly did an investigation with the dealer. they didn't even contact the correct dealer about the headlight issue.

I was at the top of the street when i tried to press on the brakes to slow down because of a red light ahead. the brakes malfunctioned and my car accelerated faster. i then stepped on my e-brakes and my car continued to go faster instead of slowing down. the next thing i remember is rear ending the back of a suv. i have anti-lock brakes and they did not work either. i was about 200ft away from this vehicle so i has plenty of space and time to stop my car but instead my car went faster despite slamming on both the brakes and e-brakes. my car is now totaled and am currently suffering injuries to my hand, neck and back.

After starting the vehicle while still stationary, the front passenger airbag is disarmed despite there being a passenger in the seat. the vehicle must be restarted frequently until the light indicates the airbag is armed. i have taken it to the dealer on two separate occasions but both times they found nothing wrong and could only re-calibrate the sensor. if someone were to not notice the light it could potentially be a dangerous situation for the passenger.

When my wife has her hearing aid on the keyless car will not start. when i am picking her up and she gets in the car, the dash flashes a warning and says no key detected. the car remains on but will not restart in an emergency unless she gets out. i am a senior, her hearing aid is modern and conforms to fcc reg. help.

The front passenger airbag light comes on while the vehicle is moving and while there is an adult in the seat. the dealership checked the system and stated there were no problems detected. the system has continued to malfunction. the concern is the bags won't deploy when needed.

The passenger airbag sensor occasionally malfunctions and the "air bag off" light will illuminate when the passenger seat is indeed occupied by an adult. this happens approximately 10% of the time the seat is occupied. this is a commonly recurring complaint on the nhtsa site. nissan has recalled approximately 140 altimas, but mine was not in this group after running my vin.

Car was purchased new in late april 2015. when i opened the trunk of the vehicle for the first time, i noticed there was rust in the spot welds on the left side of the trunk. front bumper also started to pop out on both sides after driving it the first day and is rubbing and peeling paint from frame of vehicle. rear windshield was pushed all the way to the left with a large gap to the right. this is a big safety issue. front fascia misaligned from factory and rust eating away at main frame of vehicle despite there being no scratches or damage to vehicle. both side skirts misaligned. all doors significantly misaligned from factory. power steering whines and transmission groans and shifts erratically. car does not drive straight at speeds 55+ and wanders between lanes. it takes much effort to keep it straight. trunk lid not aligned properly. bbb mandated nissan to repurchase vehicle and brand it as a lemon due to serious safety defects & non-conformities. nissan failed to fix rear windshield after one attempt and failed to fix other issues after 3 repair attempts. car has been at dealership for 28+ days. nissan failed to calculate correct repurchase numbers and nissan still refuses to fix vehicle. after my protesting, nissan repaired rear windshield but structurally, the rest of the car remains a safety issue. an investigation should be launched. i request nhsta to inspect the quality and build of this vehicle as it endangers my safety and those of other drivers around me. i am still in possession of this vehicle.

My air bag says it is off when someone is sitting in the seat. it doesn't do it ever time but it has done it quite a bit. when i took it to my dealership i bought it from they told me there isn't anything they could do because the light was working properly when i took it to them.

From time to time the warning light that states that the front passenger air bag is not working comes on. when this occured the passengere was an adult at a weight greater than 150 pounds. the only way to get the light to go off and have the air bag work was to turn the car off and then start it again. this has been back to the dealer and they can find nothing wrong and nissan will not do anything. this happened too on an a 2013 model of the altima as well. no one was hurt - the air bag did not open, just this supplemental system stated that it was not working..

I bought a brand new nissan altima 2015 car. my car has been having issues. right now, its mass air flow (maf) sensor failed which had caused safety concerns including drivability problems. the car at times dies in the middle of the road and its hard to control the car. i have infants in my car and i feel it is not safe for a brand new car to have issues. according to my dealer maf sensor is a known issue with nissan cars. two days ago i nearly had an accident because of this issue.

The passenger air bag sensor intermittently does not sense a passenger therefore the passenger air bag warning system stays off. my worry is, if in an accident will my wife of 54 years be saved by the air bag deploying or not. the vehicle was taken in to future nissan of roseville, on 03/24/15, inspected, stated could not duplicate problem. we were told no recall or reports from other owners are known. the problem is still happening. we have heard of the same issue occurring with others. my wife and i are very concerned with our safety.

Since the purchase of the vehicle in sept 2014, i have had recurring issues with the passenger side air bag. when my daughter, who is 5'9" and weighs 150 lbs is in the seat the "air bag off" light will randomly illuminate. she is not fidgeting in her seat. she is sitting evenly in the seat and not moving. i have taken it to the nissan dealer 4 times. the first two times they claimed to have read the error messages and reprogrammed it. the issue continued, the third time it was in, they replaced the sensor in the seat. the problem persisted after the sensor was replaced. i was then directed by the dealer to file a claim with nissan. i did so and they dispatched a dealer service technician to evaluate the car. he claimed that he could not recreate the issue and that there was nothing that nissan could do. his report indicated that the "system is working as designed". i received a copy of a technical service bulletin dated august 29, 2014 which states that occupant classification system (ocs) responds to different seating posture and may be operating normally. i was also told by the technician that if it happens to have the passenger get out and get back in to reset the system. i have never had a car where the passenger had to sit a certain way or get out of the car to make the air bags work properly!! i requested to have my case escalated to the next level and was told there was not a next level. the safety of my children is of extreme importance to me and i have no assurance that the system will work if tested. unfortunately, the only way to test it would be to get in an accident. i do not want to take that chance!! i have requested a buy back from nissan and am awaiting their response.

Nissan altima 2015 purchased on 8/15/15 with 6 miles on the engine. on 8/19/15 car was dead without power. battery was replaced and two days later it started powering off again as the vehicle was warming up, and as i was idle at red lights. has turned off 6 times total since purchasing car 17 days ago. called nissan consumer affairs and finance which authorized return of the vehicle. dealership did not comply stating that i had to make reasonable attempts to repair per the lemon law. do not purchase nissan, they have worked the loopholes to go against the consumer, protect themselves, and not create recalls for this. other competitor dealerships accept returns on vehicle malfunctions within 30 - 60 days after purchase. nissan does not offer this same option because they know their products have faults.

I am unable to close the hood of my car completely. the hood latch is loose at all times and i am unable to use the "open hood" button on the interior. i never received a recall notice from nissan. however, when i took my car in for it's first service appointment at edison nissan dealership (04/21/2015), the service technician reported that the recall was addressed and serviced. today on 08/10/2015, the hood popped open and i am unable to close it. i have tried to contact the dealership to set up a repair, but no service managers or store managers were available to discuss my concerns and the representative was unable to set up a courtesy loaner car for me tomorrow, which would allow me to drop off my car for repair and still get to work.

The gas tank had a leak at the top of the tank underneath the vehicle, so i took it to the dealership but they said this would not be covered under the vehicle warranty. the dealership is claiming that it could have been a rock that caused the tiny hole. the hole is located at the top of the gas tank, at an angle, just below the seal with very little space between the gas tank and the frame of the vehicle. there was no other physical damage to the gas tank other than the tiny hole, which shows that i didn't run over or hit anything. the dealership couldn't explain why there was a small hole but no other damage, other than the possibility of it being caused by a rock, but they didn't seem confident in their evaluation. it took them maybe 15 minutes to look at it and say it was user fault. it doesn't make sense because while driving 30-35 mph, shouldn't the gas tank be able to withstand a rock hitting the tank, instead of causing a tiny puncture at the top? also, wouldn't it make more sense if this hole appeared on the bottom of the gas tank instead of the top, because the bottom of the gas tank is more exposed to the elements on the road/streets? this worries me because if such light pressure can cause the fuel tank to puncture, wouldn't this be a safety hazard?

Washer solvent wal-mart brand bug remover type added to washer tank, within two weeks washer system plugged and it was found that black slime (mold) was in the tank. washer solvent bottle made by splash products also had black mold like slime in it. reported to the store and corporate was advised and no one from the manufacturer has contacted the customer to resolve this. corporate noted that another complaint appeared of the same problem in another state.

I was driving down the interstate when i noticed a loud noise coming from the passenger side floor. when i pulled over, i lifted the carpet and noticed a hole on the passenger side floorboard. the hole is as big as my foot. just yesterday my wife was seating there and felt the floor soft, but we didn't think much of it. we were so lucky since this a very serious matter that could have resulted in something very very bad. i went over to the driver's side and noticed that the floor is so rusty that i could put my foot right through. i don't feel it is safe to drive this vehicle in its current condition and it's the only vehicle we own.

I drove this rental car and parked it inside my detached garage at 7:30 pm. i neglected to push the start/stop button upon exiting the car. consequently, the car continued to run. at 10:30 pm, needing a tool, i went back and opened the garage door. a rush of hot air hit me in the face. to my horror, i realized that i did not shut the car off. garage temperature had to be about 120 degrees. who knows what could have happened, had the car run all night. i think there's a simple easy inexpensive fix to this. solution:require all auto manufacturers, utilizing the keyless ignition option, to, mandatoraly, equip all vehicles with an automatic shut off if a car idles in park (transmission sellection) for more than 20 minutes. this safety option should not be able to be over ridden by customer. i'm just thankful that my garage was detached. carbon monoxide deaths via keyless ignition are easily avoidable.

`driving from a customer business my red light for supplemental air bag came on . i took the car to the local dealer and they diagnosed and ordered a air bag module. when part came in on april 13th 2015 with miles of 11276 dealer rep said that the module did not turn red light off. service ordered a driver air bag module and installed this on miles 11738, april 17th,2015, red light still on. informed me there is only one more part they can put on it is called a new cable..car is new and under warranty, book says if light is red that the air bags will not deploy, called service on afternoon of april 17th and suggested they give a loaner to me if this car was not safe to drive . service said it was safe, just that the light is on.i drive 100- 300 miles a day in this car and if the red light is on the service manual says this is dangerous, however the dealer refuses to offer a loaner car, service rep said the air bags would still work and that the light just will not go off. i have taken this car in three times in three weeks and the light is still red..i am to take this back next week to have a cable installed as per invoice.. *tr

The dashboard/center console area has highly reflective/shiny plastic, that reflects the sun into the drivers and passengers eyes, temporarily blinding them a large area of the center console is highly reflective, everything around the stereo controls and upper center vents.. this is a hazard, and not found on many other manufacturers . *tr

On jan 22, 2015 , i test drove a beautiful 2015 nissan altima, the speed during test drive did not exceed 45mph and the drive was smooth and without incident. i decided to buy the vehicle and trades a nissan 2012 altima with low mileage and no mechanical problems. on the way home , on the florida turnpike i noticed a drifting from left to right with no easy transition back to center lane. the wheel was pulling to the left and then would sort of hang up when i tried to return to center lane. each time it went left, when i tried to return to center lane it would over compensate and drift to the right. this shifting occurred throughout the ride home which is approximately 12 miles of turnpike at a speed of 70mph. i took the vehicle back right away and 2 more times after that, the last time the steering almost caused an accident at 70mph on the turnpike. i contacted the dealership and they again said vehicle is in tolerance and nothing can be done. i contacted consumer affairs for nissan and they also could not help, since the dealership said the vehicle is in tolerance. other family members have driven and confirm my fears that the vehicle is not safe. *tr

I came too a stop sign. i proceeded to make a right turn as i accelerated i heard what sounded like a gunshot. the sunroof apparently exploded and it rained glass on me. i was shocked i pulled over and looked throughout car looking for a object thinking it was thrown at the car. i exited looked for physical damage besides the shattered roof. nothing was scratched or dented. i looked at the roof i noticed the glass shattered upward. it looked like it exploded inside out. i looked up online and see this happens more then i thought. *tr

While driving alone on 03/12/2015 noticed the airbag auxiliary light come on in my new 2015 nissan altima. the altima was serviced for this on 03/18/2015 and the light was reset with the technician stating the passenger side airbag sensor was under recall. then, while driving on 03/22/2015 the airbag auxiliary light came on once again, also when i was the only occupant in the vehicle. the altima was serviced again for this issue on 03/25/2015 where the technician stated objects left on the passenger seat (laptop bags, etc.) can cause the sensor to go off and that it's a known issue. they recommended to not put anything onto the passenger seat aside from an adult person. although i have placed a bag onto the passenger seat a couple of times while driving, the airbag auxiliary light never came on while anything or anyone was in the passenger seat. then again today, 03/26/2015, the airbag auxiliary light came back on in my 2015 nissan altima while i was driving with nothing/no one in the passenger seat. *tr

The airbag sensor for the passenger seat stays on even when an adult passenger is sitting in the front passenger seat. we notice it occurs when the car is started prior to the passenger getting in. if we turn the car off and start it again the light goes out. our vin # was not part of the recall, but clearly it should have been. *tr

Cvt transmission vibrates excessively in interior (floorboards, steering wheel, gas pedal, and and me) noise level extremely high inside car. dealer and nissan america say they will not fix or buy back car. purchased new in sept 2014. had same car 2014 model that had no vibration or noise. dealer had seven test drives and all agree with me, but no one would commit to saying the car needs to be fixed - they say it could be defective or could be a design problem. either way i am stuck!!! would not recommend this car to anyone. *tr

This vehicle was leased new on dec, 2, 2014 from a nissan dealer located in washington, pa. the vehicle has had a burning and sulfur odor since day one and the sulfur odor is getting worse. the vehicle is rated for 38 mpg highway and 27 mph city. the vehicle mpg is growing worse and it gets about 24 mpg as i write this. vehicle was taken in for service to determine these issues and i was told no problems found. it was suggested to me to try other fuel stations and to keep in mind gas is now cheap! contacted nissan usa several times where you speak to people who refuse to give out their last name and i was told the selling dealer will not look at the car any further so i ask for nissan to buy it back. as of 2/6/15 i am waiting for a response from nissan usa. i made an appointment with another nissan dealer and they have agreed to investigate my complaints about the sulfur odor and very poor mpg. my wife has a allergy to sulfur and cannot drive this vehicle because she never knows when the sulfur odor will fill the cabin and she then has to pull off the road, open the windows. the last time she was operating the vehicle on an interstate highway (01/31/15) the car begin emitting a very strong sulfur odor and she had to pull off and get out of the car. the selling dealer refuses to provide service or assist in any manner. nissan usa is backing up the dealer. this is how nissan treats an customer who has owned/leased 8 nissan vehicles! *js

I just purchased a 2015 altima sv with the tech package. this include several safety features, but the one i wanted most was the blind spot warning system. i discovered in the first 2 weeks that when it was raining or the roads were wet, the bsw could give false alarms like a car was next to me, when there was no other cars near me. i brought the car to the dealer twice for this and on the second time, i was handed a bulletin that shows the issue. i was told by the dealer to contact nissan customer support for resolution. i just heard back from them on 12/30/14 and their response was that it was working as designed. how can a safety feature that is part of a 1000.00 package be designed to give false alarms when the roads are wet. please investigate and have have nissan resolve this issue before it causes someone to get into an accident. thanks. *js

I was driving my 2015 nissan altima on the road and there was heavy traffic so it was sort of stop and go and lots of idling. each time i pressed on the gas, it seems the car hesitated to go. after i got to my destination, i then drove onto interstate 85 in gastonia, north carolina and the car started making a loud whistling noise and would not accelerate. the drive shaft also started shaking really bad. the car stalled as i was driving on the interstate and i was able to pull off and the car coasted off the highway. the car stopped on me. i attempted to contact the dealership that i purchased the car to get direction on what to do and they wouldn't speak to me or return my calls. i ended up calling nissan roadside assistance in re the car. the guy asked for my vin # and i gave it to him and he immediately asked if my car's engine stalled on me. i advised that it did in the midst of my driving with my children on an interstate. he advised they would send a tow truck to get my car but there wasn't anything he could do for me to have transportation and i'd have to speak with the nearest dealership to see if they could provide a loaner. the dealership ended up diagnosing this as a bad transmission in this brand new car. i wanted to know how the roadside assistance guy knew that this car had stalled on me prior to me explaining the problem. the dealership that repaired it also asked me if i had had this problem 3 times prior. i had not. when i purchased the car it had 101 miles on it and i believe this car had problems that they were aware of and they sold it to me anyway. i requested a replacement vehicle from nissan consumer affairs b/c i have no confidence in this car as it was a new car with a bad transmission and i do not trust it's safety for myself and my children. i believe that this is not a one time thing and this has happened previously. *js

The windshield cracked for no good reason. took it to the dealer where they run a pen down the seam and claim that there's an impact. i'm an engineer and i can attest stress fracture on a glass doesn't guarantee that there's no chip on the edge along the way. this look like a stress fracture, or workmanship defect. nhtsa, please investigate this can lead into serious accident if it happens while driving in highway. *tr

I leased this vehicle in 2015 and purchased it in 2018 with 60003 miles. i began experiencing a loss of acceleration from a stop at about 80k miles, it happened intermittently a few times over the next year. my vehicle just broke 100k miles, the issue has become much more frequent in the last month, when pulling out across traffic, when starting from a stop light or sign. the vehicle has little to no response when the accelerator is pressed, or even pressed all the way to the floor. it will sometimes engage after putting the car back into park, and then back into drive. other times it will very slowly accelerate taking as much as 30 seconds to increase 10 mph. i did some basic internet research and found many nissan vehicles with cvt transmissions have issues, and subsequent class action lawsuits. i took my vehicle into the dealer, with 102k miles. the dealer diagnosed the faulty cvt, and indicated that my specific model does not have its transmission under warranty up to 120k miles like other vehicles, and that the vehicle warranty is only valid up to 84k miles. i asked for documentation as i could not find any on the web designating this new 84k mile limitation, they emailed me an image of a service bulletin indicating 84k miles as the limitation where nissan accepts liability for this known issue. this is extremely dangerous as the vehicle will begin to accelerate and then have nothing after you have pulled into traffic. luckily, i have not been hit while entering or turning across traffic. so it happens when stationary and in motion, on city streets and highways, both turning and going straight.

I have had problems with my brakes, they sqiuk all the time. the engine light come on and i was told that i had to replace the mass air flow senser my car is only a 2015. this is not right.

I tried to release the hood by way of pulling the interior latch, it did not open. i called the dealership they told me to bring it in the next day. i got out of the car and pressed on it (to be sure it was closed) and drove away from the gas station. i was driving 30 miles per hour when the hood let go and hyperextended and flew up in front of me and i was unable to see anything.

The cvt transmission was idling high when driving and while sitting at a light. without realizing it was the transmission, the car would jerk while on the highway. as the car was driving tland with your foot on the gas it would idle to the top and when it came to a complete stop you put your foot on the gas and it wouldn't move for a few seconds then it would jerk into gear and take out. eventually it would stall at 2nd gear amd of i was crossing traffic or turning a corner it would stall for a few seconds then kick into high gear with a hard jerk.

The passenger "air bag light" does not go out when i have an adult passenger in the car. this has been a continuous problem since i purchased the car nissan dealership says there is no problem indicated when tested. nissan regional office says they are checking into it at this time and will not authorize any repairs, and if i continue to have a problem, go to the dealership meanwhile the "passenger air bag light" remains on when i have a passenger in the seat. i can not get any proper response from nissan.
