2015 KIA Soul

Have been maintaining my car well just bought it and still paying for it. Ive went to every oil change and up keep I was suppose to. This isn’t fair, I will sue Kia if I have to for this. 2015 Kia souls should all be taken off the market

Engine knocking. Oil low after getting it done. Idle knocking

Car had been parked in my driveway for 12 hours when it spontaneously combusted just after 3AM. It had been raining off and on all day. No one was injured and we managed to control the fire with an extinguisher and hose until the Fire Dept. arrived, but the car is a total loss and Kia has NOT gotten back to me!!

I have continued to research Kia and there motors. Why has NHTSA allowed more time for documents from Kia? I have issues with my 2015 Kia Soul using oil with now 55000 miles. The dealership acted like they didn’t know there was an issue when I took it in to have it looked at. After what I have read and Kia dealership is acting like they don’t know anything I feel like I have a ticking time bomb. When will the consumer get answers?

I was driving down the Indiana Avenue going about 25. When I heard a horrible rattling noise then the car dies I lose all power I was able to get it off the road. However I inhaled a lot of the smoke. I got all the car in the meatly call 911 and started filming.

(1). Since purchase date June 2015-ENGINE ROUGH IDLE AND VIBRATION, TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, THEY KEPT VEHICLE FOR TWO MONTHS FROM AUGUST 1ST, 2018 THROUGH OCTOBER 3RD, 2018 AT NAPLETON NORTHLAKE KIA IN FLORIDA. INVOICE # 109164. (21101RIG SHORT BLOCK/ SHORT ENGINE ASSY R&R
( GAMMA 1.6L). THE ENGINE IS RUNNING WORSE THAN BEFORE WITH ROUGH IDLE AND VIBRATION.

(2). IGNITION SWICH MALFUNCTIONS.

Contract 100k miles/10 years. current mileage 92388. still within warranty contract. while driving, 12/6/2020, my car stopped running after a brief warning on the dash. check engine and oil light came on. within a few minutes, i heard a noise, and the engine shut down. there were no oil leaks or any fluids under the car. i towed the car home. i towed to ray brandt kia in harvey la 12/7/20. a month later, i was told the engine failed. by 1/4/21, i was asked for permission to tear down the engine for inspection. 1/8/21 brian murray,svc mgr. said valve cover to be removed for inspection. fidelity warranty/ray brandt kia approved repairs re: ro101874. per vicky, the inspector directed the timing belt replacement. on 1/13/21, test runs done to see if it fixed the problem but no compression. no action taken on recall 20v750. per vicky, ray brandt recommended replacing the engine. used engine found for replacement with approx. 42k miles. per vicky at ray brandt svc dept. i received recall letter dated 1/25/21 by mail. called vicky about recall. she confirmed it on her computer. ray brandt called days later to say fidelity denied my claim. they stopped all repairs. told i had to call fidelity for documentation. called but no response. after sending a certified letter 3/9 to legal. nancy beausejour called. she sent a reply dated 4/7. first two inspections reveal oil and other fluids are good and no sludge in the engine. this was prior to two more inspections with different conclusions. final inspection show engine warped. due to ignoring the recall, no action on service department recommendations and test runs without repairs, the engine warped. before this failure, i had no engine overheating. since 4/22/21, after 5 calls to kia consumer assistance ctr.,called. may 12, 2021

There was a recall on the catalytic converters and the dealership in columbus, georgia, said they replaced it. kia of columbus only had the car 20 minutes when they said they were completely done changing the part out. now there’s a knock in the motor, the car left my daughter stranded on the highway, it wouldn’t go over 40 mph and it had to be towed. sons kia in mcdonough, georgia did a diagnostic on it which said it needed a new engine assembly. i don’t believe the converter was replaced in the first place causing the current damage to the vehicle.

So i was on my way home from running errands, current speed was 45 because of traffic signs and then had to yield because i needed to turn left, started going once i was able to so speed was about 0 this time, tried to turn and start to get car up to speed again when car decided to start stuttering and the car ended up not going past 20 mph. it went from 45 to 20 and refused to go higher, even went down to 10. check engine light came and was forced to pull over. car would drive after checking to make sure there were no leaks or anything else visible. car would absolutely not go pad 25 in a 55. was a very dangerous ride home because car had started rolling backwards out of nowhere. car currently still jumps and has not been driven since 1st scare. the engine was replaced the first time this happened in 2019 by the dealership after only purchasing the car and having it for 2 months with an older engine, i have absolutely no idea why this has happened again. the car also recently was checked for recalls when oil change was due

In november 2020 i had a dangerous encounter on the i 94 expressway in chicago. my car a 2015 kia soul engine light came on , and the engine began stall, while this was happening a semi was behind me , thank god i was able to veer off the expressway to the emergency lane and turned off the car. this was the start of the craziness with this vehicle. the engine light has been onand off 4 times since the expressway episode.i’ve had many encounters with the kia dealerships (5) and kia motors of america regarding the engine light and the cars poor performance . in between the time of now and then i have done everything they have requested from getting a catalytic converter oil changes all these things nothing has changed is actually has gotten worse i’ve even gotten a knock sensor replaced which at thomas kia in indiana see it would fix the problem, didn’t. i received a recall letter for this vehicle dated january 27 2021 with all my prior complaints documented, from the oil light being on ,to again the engine light coming and staying on . kia and the kia dealers refuse to stand by there words stated on the recall notice of the vehicle . the 2015 kia soul is currently napleton kia in river oaks illinois. i was told by a kia of america representative and kia napleton service advisor that i would need to pay $400. to have them assessed to find out the reason for the engine light staying on. the recall plainly states that the vehicle would be assessed to determine why the light is on.

Was driving the vehicle everything was normal all of a sudden the it began to smell like it was overheating. then car started to lose power an stalled out. i pulled over let it set for a good 30 mins. i checked all the fluids everything was great. so i started the vehicle which was hesitant began driving did great for about 15 mins. and the same smell plus some other sounds crazy but egg smell occurred and i pulled over about 4 mins after i began to notice it was running strange. the check engine light came on an now this vehicle misses and does not run correctly. i check the fluids and tires every monday and thursday. i went to have the codes for the check engine light that came on after the incident happened. it gave me several issues that wasnt there at all before whatever happened happened.

My car has a recall on it . service dude say it passed the recall test and i just checked and it said recall incomplete car has been making a loud rattling noise since i picked it up the first they " fixed " my car

I get an error code p050a in temperatures below 50 f after starting the car. the csr has 68k miles on it. this code relates to cold start idle air control performance. had the car in the shop and a faulty purge solenoid was replaced and throttle bore cleaned. now three weeks later, i get the same code again. car seems to drive fine, but when i first start the motor seems to surge for a few seconds. i am concerned this issue will damage the motor or might even create a safety hazard.

When driving with the need of headlights, they will flash/flicker off and back on again when using my turn signal primarily. i thought it was a one off when it happened once, but it has now happened more than once and i have found others online that have had the same problem. thankfully it hasn’t been on a busy highway, but it is on back roads that don’t have much lighting.

Three open recalls that prevent the car from being safely driven, but my local dealer says the soonest opening they have is in 2.5 months to perform the work

[xxx], thank you for providing an update concerning my vehicle. the purpose of this email is to obtain clarity regarding the needed repairs for the vehicle. below is a summarization of events that will lead us to today's email. first, the service department conducted a 120k service on 2.20.21 at your location. note, the vehicle's mileage at the time of service was around 116k. this author communicated to [xxx]; a safety recall notice was published for vehicle vin [xxx]. My check engine light has been on for a week. i've taken it to the dealer three times before and was told it had a code of p05a. they also said that they can't fix it. i've even spoken to kia, and was told that they are working on a solution. i don't want to be driving and something major happens to my car and i get injured.

2015 kia soul. consumer writes in regards to an unrepaired recall issue. *as *js

Received a recall notification dated january 25, 2021 referencing a potential of an engine fire. the notice indicated two mil lights, check engine and oil. the vehicle had been illuminating these lights for approximately 6 weeks. however, they would never stay illuminated; continued to turn on and off. visited the local kia dealership, sussman kia of roslyn, pa. informed that the problem was a leaky oil pan. part was ordered. scheduled an appointment for march 24. informed prior to picking it up that the oil pressure switched had to be replaced. kia was only covering the oil pan. i had to pay for the oil and the pressure switch. at no time, was i informed of any potential damage to the engine. however, on april 3, driving on a major highway, the vehicle stalled. i almost was rammed by a tractor trailer. the vehicle had to be towed to a repair shop. on april 6, i was informed that the cam and engine timing were the issues. the engine has to be completely disassembled. contacted sussman kia and was informed that they could only do what kia corporation instructed, there was no check engine light data in the computer, and that the engine probably became damaged by the lost of oil. sussman kia relinquished my vehicle being aware that this could be a problem. again, i was driving on the i-476 highway. i could have been killed. kia is only concerned about the bottom line, not lives that could be impacted by their negligence. kia manufactures vehicles that are clearly unsafe and then continues with poor maintenance even with their own recalls. they "ties" their own dealership hands in repairs; limiting what kia will pay for under warranty. i had to pay for an oil pressure switch that actually was faulty.

My transmission is slipping and will not shift

This issue has been going on for over a year and we have taken it to a kia dealership a total of 4times. first time they did a diagnostic and all it showed was it was low on oil. 2x we had to tow it to the kia dealership. we was on a highway going up the smallest of inclines and it started to spudder and lost complete power. it was towed to our house then when we realized that there was recalls we towed it to kia. told the people about the recall on it and they just changed the catalytic converter and gave it back about a month or so later it started to do the same thing again losing power up hills and spuddering.. took it back up there all they did was changed the catalytic converter again and after having it a month or so they gave it back told me to drive it 1000 miles and bring it back to them. my problem is the car isn't safe for me to drive and now i am afraid of it starting on fire. i don't want this car anymore there are 2 many issues and i'm just not comfortable with it. we have put 20,000 dollars into a car that was supposed to be 10,000. i have a family and animals i will not put in this vehicle.

Kia recalled my engine. the engine died yesterday. kia is telling it's going to be multiple days until they can even scan the car. this is a scam. they need to offer a loaner or a rental in the meantime, otherwise, they're not fulfilling the requirements of the recall. my health and safety are greatly affected without my car. this is not a free and safe remedy.

Have had problems with same problem since 2020 took it in roughly 5 times for same thing said was catalytic converter they put new one in not fixed when i push down on gas pedal it hesitates for 3-4 seconds then kicks in drives for a while then it shuts it down when you push on gas pedal when at a stop sign it hesitates again happens a lot more now in traffic it hesitates then kicks in something is definitely wrong with car has 55329 miles i need to know if this under warranty if electrical or transmission we are unsafe driving you never know when it is going to hesitate

I bought the kia soul in august of 2019 and everything worked as expected. the motor started using oil unexpectedly consuming more then a quart every 1000 miles about a year after i had the car. this oil usage is not normal. it shouldn’t use more then a quart between oil changes.

My engine is leaking oil and there is something blinking on the dashboard.

I was notified of engine fire recall on my kia soul. i have taken my vehicle in complaining of burning smell, engine light, tire lights coming on - every time they refuse to fix anything. i was told at the dealership by service staff that “he’s sure my car if fine and it would pass thier” inspection, so there is nothing they will do. even with the recall letter. the staff person also said that the media (news) is “making it all up”. i am disabled and they refuse to help with my car and the engine fire recall.

I have 2 2015 kia souls and oil light started blinking at low rpms within a 2 weeks of each other. i replaced the oil pressure sensor on my daughters soul to fix issue. it started on my wife's car this morning. i see recalls for other kia modules for this sensor and looks like it needs to expand to the soul. getting a false warning can make you get off the road in hast stinking there is a major issue.

My 2015 kia soul has 71,500 miles on it and has the base 1.6l engine. apparently this vehicle has not been recalled yet even though it has the same issues as the other recalled engines regarding burning oil. this car has an ongoing issue with excessive oil consumption between regular 3k mile oil changes. it burns over a quart of oil per 1k miles driven. we have a cpo warranty and extended dealer warranty and we still are unable to get this fixed under the warranty. the dealership is claiming what they've documented is normal oil consumption and they refuse to file a warranty claim. the dealer will not take our word that we've had to put more oil in the car between oil consumption tests and told us we'd have to drive it to the dealer to have them verify the oil level without us putting more in it--therefore drive the car while it has no oil and the dipstick isn't registering it, which is unsafe. we keep getting the run around when this is a known issue with the other 1.6l engines. why hasn't this been recalled?

I've been having trouble with burning oil, significant oil lose in a short time, have already done the oil consumption test, i already had the ksds software update, the car started jerking around and slowed down, lost power, it was finally determined they would replace the engine, before the recall actually started. they put another band aide on the problem and instead of replacing the entire engine, they only replaced the block. i was on a trip and the new fix started to heat up, i could smell burning oil, i pulled over and checked the oil and it was 1 quart low in about 378 miles. i have noticed over the last 1 1/2 years that it gets extremely hot on road trips and looses oil fast. i put oil in because i was so far from home and did not want to be stuck in tennessee. i've been going through this crap for almost 2 years. now they are saying i have to do the oil consumption test all over again, 4 times! i am worried, frightened and paranoid driving this car knowing it could catch on fire at any moment. i filed complaint back in sept. or oct. and kia is still fighting on doing the right thing and putting my life in danger every day. it made no sense to me that they would only replace the block when they clearly state in the recall letter that they do not know what is causing the problem. they have not identified the defect but they decide to put my life in danger by just replacing the engine block. i am furious and now they won't fix it without 6 more months of me driving the car and being freaked out. my job is business to business sales so i am in my car all day. please help me! this is terrifying for me. i am older and have bad knees and constantly worried about being caught in the car in a fire and burning to death! help me please! i'm about to have a nervous breakdown. my recall # is 20v750, my first complaint was 19v120. please help!!

It's been burning up oil way too fast. it started with a ticking coming from the motor. i added more oil. and the ticking got worse. then while driving down the highway there was a loud pop. something fell off from the bottom of the car. it started smoking then just died on me. now i'm out a vehicle.

I have a 2015 kia soul. 2 years ago my check engine light came on had it put on a machine it needed a new catalytic converter and an o2 sensor it was burning oil and smoking. i changed both. 8 months i called kia when there was a recall on the 1.6 engine because my car was doing exactly what the recall was stating i was informed by kia it wasn’t my motor. i was adding 2 quarts of oil a week i was driving down the road and all of a sudden it would not go over 20 mph and started knocking i was taking off from a stop when the engine started knocking. i checked the oil and it was dry and it had oil earlier that day. i received the recall had it towed to bob rohrman kia in lafayette in. the person who worked at the car dealership took it off the tow dolly stated it would not pass the engine test. 2 days later they said it passed the engine test but i need $4600 of work but the engine was ok even though it was burning oil and knocking. i called kia and they said the motor was to be changed no charge to me. now they are saying it has too many miles and does not qualify for the recall. there was then 140000 on my kia when this all started

I had my car into the dealer for unknown oil loss, the car was not burning it or leaking. i was informed by the dealer that it was an issue but there are no recalls on it. they took the engine apart and took pictures to submit to kia for advice. kia refused to authorize them to fix the engine. on my way home on the highway with the car the engine started knocking when accelerating, the car lost power and the engine light came on. the car has about 111000 miles and it's been sitting for 2 years now because it needs the engine and catalytic converted replaced. i had to buy another car to drive. i have periodically called car to see if they were going to do a recall on the 2.0 engine like they did for the 1.6 because the 2.0 was doing the exact same thing. it been 2 years and finally i got a recall letter that they now have the recall. i had my car towed to suntrup kia to get a new engine. i was told that the kia computers had been hacked and they could not get approval to fix the engine. they hoped it would be up next week. next week came and they called and said they fixed the recalls. i asked if they replaced the engine and catalytic converter that quick. they said no my car did not fail some test they did. i called kia to get the issue resolved and they also told me they could not help me because there computer's were down and had no eta on when they would be back up. now i have to pay to have my car towed home again. suntrup kia recommend me not to drive it.

Driving down the highway went to make a turn and the steering wheel came loose. i almost lost control and crashed. there’s a loud clicking noise when you turn the steering wheel

Loud cranking noise when steering the car left or right.

Continuously having my battery go dead, but locks and lights work at the time the. artery is dead. when you go to start the car you hear a series of clicks,but won't turn over. when you go to jump start the battery it takes only 30 seconds to a minute to start. they have checked my battery and car out and can find nothing wrong with it.

In dec 2014 i leased a new kia soul. i was really happy with the car for quite some time and then it randomly wouldn't start at odd intervals. this happened while parked at my daughter's dance studio, having driven there to pick her up (jan 2016). i had it jump started then so i could get home. had to have it jump started again the next morning so i could drive kids to school and drive to the dealer. dealer charged the battery and car worked fine until nov 2016 when i drove from home to walmart, did some quick shopping before work, and the car wouldn't start when i came back out. i had kia roadside service jump the car, drove it to the dealer (was late for work) but the dealer returned the car to me saying they couldn't duplicate the issue. again in nov 2016 on thanksgiving, car would not start in my garage. i had kia roadside service jump start it and was able to drive to my mother's 2 hours away. i parked the car there and after sitting for a couple of days, it started fine. took it to the dealer who again could not duplicate any issues. at that time i would not take the car back without a new battery, for which kia did reimburse me later. again i march 2017, car would not start at home. had it towed to the dealer. they again could not pinpoint the issue and returned the car to me. i've had the attny gen of mn contact kia but they refuse to reimburse me for anything i lost in trading the car before the lease was up. kia said (see letter attached) that because nothing was found to be wrong with the car, they are not liable. i think the fact that the car wouldn't start is something wrong with it!

You crank the car the doors lock. you lose electric power you can't open the doors!! no way to get out of car!! was lucky one window was down!!all doors need to be able to open with out power< what if on fire or in water?? the car was setting in parking lot of walmart listing to radio and the bat ran down!!

Car purchased new in feb 2016. car had approximately 9,000 miles on it at the time of incident. my daughter was driving the car and upon arriving at her destination parked the car. on exiting the vehicle she and her friend noticed smoke rising from the passenger side of the hood at the windshield. this quickly developed into a small flame. the entire car was consumed by fire within the 13 minute response time of the fire department.

The car caught fire under the hood of the engine. upon arriving home from grocery store passenger noticed smoke under the hood. the fire was extinguished and the kia emergency roadside service was called. the local kia dealer doesnt want anything to do with the car even though the car is still under factory warranty . kia corporate isn't much help either saying it will be 2-5 business days before someone from there will be able to come and inspect it. in the meantime i am stranded in fort wayne with no transportation. again the car is still under factory warranty!!!!!!!!!

I hired this car from thrifty rental cars, and was in a collision on the i80 freeway, wherein i hit the vehicle in front during stop-start traffic, i was travelling way below the speed limit. the seat belt did not hold me in place, and i flew forward over the steering wheel, and hit the windscreen. i suffered mild concussion, whiplash, and bruising down the front of my body. i may have also permanently damaged my neck. i have reported this incident to thrifty, but they are refusing to take any action.

The vehicle stibility control light comes on when it want , which is the part of the (abs). the vehicle has been several times to resolve the problem with no luck. the light will go off when you turn off the vehicle. i do also hear a clicking noise from th driver side rear brake for couple of feet but went away. no codes present at all a cording to the dealership when they checked. doe to the photos which my wife and i have taken during the problem the dealership decided to check the auto. the wife and i have waited several hrs. at the dealership, but still no luck for the light or the clicking sound to come on. the wife and i are very unsatisfied with the results at this time. it seems like (replace the abs) control model should eliminate the problrm.

Checked my oil and the dipstick was showing no oil at all, 2 quarts had been added 2 weeks prior. no sign of an oil leak anywhere. 2 days later i started the vehicle and it was idling very hard then died, i waited then started it back up. the engine light came on but it didnt die again. it has since continued to run very rough. this started at about 90,000, oil consumption is ridiculous. there is definitely a problem here, so many people are making complaints as well!!

Problem with the engine light come on. they tell me nothing is wrong with the engine light. also i have a problem with loosing oil i do not have an oil leak. no oil no where. kia service been doing a oil test every 2000 miles they have to add oil every time. one day i was on the highway the oil light came on i stopped to check my oil level the engine was dry with no oil. i had 600 mile before a oil change.

At 88k miles car begins to drive sluggish causing a acceleration issue. you can also hear a whistling sound from the engine with a faint knocking sound. took the vehicle in for inspection and it was said to be the catalytic converter and or transmission. both were changed and vehicle is still driving sluggish.

My 2015 kia soul was operating fine until 1-7-2021. at about 45 mph the oil light came on , then the engine light, then a pounding sound and then the engine blew up. i had it towed to myrtle beach kia, the dealership where i bought the car. they submitted the incident to their engineering dept. which approved a new engine. on 1-18-21 the kia service man called to say that the new engine has been installed but that the car doesn't run right. it needs a new fuel pump at a cost to me of about $900. i talked with the general manager who checked with the service dept. and he said that the warranty only covers the drive train, plus they found no evidence to show that the fuel pump was affected by the engine incident. i paid the $896.40 for the new fuel pump and picked up the car yesterday. does this sound right? the car runs fine...there's an engine incident which is covered by the warranty or the recall...now i have to pay $900 to get my car back to where it was???

Are 2015 kia soul had close to 100,000 miles on it and we started to have low loss of oil and a light clicking sound. we did not think very much of this. there was no oil leaking and so signs of oil burning through the exhaust. we continued to check oil and keep it full but it seemed to be running out faster then it should. one week after putting oil in it we were on the interstate and loss power and started hearing a loud knocking. the engine is dead and needs replaced. our car is not under recall and we still have 10,000 dollars left to pay on the car. to replace the car with a new engine is around 5000 dollars. we have no clue what todo but after researching we learned that 2015 kia soul 2.0l motors are expensive and in high demand.

2015 kia soul+ 2.0 engine. purchased in 2017 with 24k miles. began having issues with vehicle at approximately 80k miles. car began losing oil and i began having oil consumption test done at dealership. car was losing 1 quart of oil per 1 k miles. dealership informed me that although maintenance was done as required, they would not replace engine or help since extended warrenty was expired. driving to work one morning, engine light came on. vehicle towed 65 miles to dealership. updated sensor code. replaced pvc valve. using 5-30 oil. still losing oil.this morning, at approx. 92,300, engine light came on again as i was pulling out of my driveway. very frustrated with costs related to towing. very frustrated with kia and the dealership since from my research, this is a very real problem with the 2.0 engines. can't afford to trade in.

Car is burning oil at a very rapid rate and the engine is making noise when in idle. mechanic checked the compression and found that the piston rings are wearing out and we need a new motor. kia will not work with us at the moment, and says there is no evidence of the car burning oil even though we’re having to add oil every 500 miles. we are now stuck making payments on a car that is not safe to drive for our family. we feel this should be included in the most recent recall on kia’s.

When i hit about 65k on the vehicle the check engine light would come on. each time this happens it's because there is no oil in the engine. i also notice the light comes on apprx. 1k before the car is scheduled for a oil change? there is no warning that i am low on oil until the engine light comes on. i'm afraid i'm headed for big trouble with this engine!

Had knock soft updated. changed plugs at 82,000 miles. plugs show oil being burned. oil goes low. now leak. omg. recall the 2.0 engine. have a 2015 and 2016. both having same problems

The engine developed a rod knock.. napleton kia in elgin, il has said there is no recall for this vehicle. the vehicle was cruising at medium speed when the engine knock developed. very noticeable when revving the engine.

My vehicle has been having issues with the engine for months now. i have had to have parts replaced that clearly are related to the engine , can not drive it after having it towed to the kia dealership . they corrected two recalls , but did not check for problems with my engine. they did a dx test however did not drive it to clearly see it still has same issues as when i brought it in , but worse than before now. my vehicle is part of the campaign 20v750 with code sc200. my vehicle is also burning oil , two times i was told by a mechanic that they are sure it has to do with engine issues. i called them back and addressed my concerns after leaving with it the same problems as before and was treated as if i was making up the issues i am having with the vehicle . due to i am the 2nd owner they did not want to use my warranty i have on the engine to repair or even check into the engine for problems . now i am having to wait until the manager comes back to work in two days to get a resolution, i can not afford to keep paying for tow charges for the 2nd time.

My 2015 kia soul stalls and won't pass 45 mph i was at the turnpike when it happen. i also know people with the same problem and that there was a recall on the catalytic converter. but when i look up for my car its says i don't have a recall. why isn't there a recall for this?

Engine error code p050a, no performance issues except revving to 2500 rpm's when cold crank start in temperatures below 50f. cold air idle control system. error occured on third morning of high revving. also had both outstanding recalls serviced including having a new cat. converter installed 4 days ago (no performance issues with any of the resolved recall problems or the current error code) dealer could not provide any solution but is aware of numerous soul owners 2014-2017 who have the same problem.

Driving on a city street and car engine light began to flash rapidly then my car started jerking and hesitating when coming to a stop

When i go to come to a stop at a stop light or stop sigh, sometimes the engine will stall out and all power is lost. the have to turn the car off completely and restart it. then it drives fine again until i come to another stop. it doesn't happen all the time but it happens alot.

Iin august while driving, my oil light flashed briefly and then went out. when i pulled into my driveway i checked my oil and there was barely any oil in the car. based on my millage i was not yet do for an oil change and had not seen any indication that i was leaking oil ( not spots in driveway) i added oil and took the car to the dealership who did an oil change and began oil consumption tests. engine is making a knocking noise constantly and rattling noise when decelerating.oil is not leaking on ground but car is consistently losing oil. idles rough. i have already completed 3 oil consumption tests with kia dealer who stated that there is a known issue with the 3rd cylinder rod bearing in these engines, just waiting for my diagnostic appointment.

I was driving on a one lane road inclining when loud noise started coming from the engine. when i found a safe place to pull over, as i pulled over, the engine malfunction light eliminated solid. i had the car towed to my mechanic who told me i needed a new engine. i then towed it to kia, and was told by kia that the engine threw a rod. was told that there was so much metal shavings in the oil pan, the pan was replaced. there was no oil on the dipstick at breakdown. kia told me it was because all the oil had burnt up. 30 days prior to breakdown i had a software update done to the eui, which update was to alert prior to rod end bearing failure. i provided all oil maintenance records to kia and they replaced my engine free of charge. it took 6 weeks to complete..

The catalytic converter plugged and the oil pressure sensor light is blinking

We had a recall so we brought our kia soul 2015 to be repaired. they had the car for a month . when we got the car back it wasn't the same ,the engine light came on. we called them again they said it was normal and our car was fine. we kept calling them the it wasn't. we were going to nh for a family reunion and bring his daughter back oo. they said that they needed to see the car onnly when the light was on, it always came on at odd times. but they assisted it was fine to go up north, well when we hit mass. the car blew it's engine. they ried to say we had no oil in in, my husband changed the oil before weleft and everything that the recall said would happen did happen. . the car was left in mass at tewksbury kia and kia would not fit the bill. so we have no car since we were in financial stress. i have no car they came and took from us. and i still have to pay even though i had the insurance were something happen it get paid off. so on a main highway our car died in the flow of traffic the scarcest thing in the world. had to get a hotel, rental loss of work and had to depend on neighbors for a ride to work, i loved our car. bryan kia in leesburg fl didn't do us right or kia we did our part they didn't , i have the repair bills at home, at work just found this site. please help us

Driving ~75mph down the highway when my panoramic sunroof randomly exploded outwards. small pieces of glass then fell on myself, my wife, and our two kittens. there was no apparent cause. there were no other vehicles close by. i had to file an insurance claim and pay my $250 deductible.

There are no oil leaks but the oil kept measuring low. now there is this metal on metal sound coming from the engine. the vehicle was in motion at the time the metal sound was noticed.

My vehicle keeps running out of oil and there's a knocking/rattling noise. the noise can be heard while driving. i take it to the car shop and there's no oil in the car.

After oil change my engine will burn all of its oil up within 2000 miles without any check engine light, warnings or leaks. this occurs when vehicle is in motion. this can result in engine lock up causing incident. i began noticing this issue in june of 2019 and was not sure if the oil filter had become loose or what? i did get under the vehicle and inspect for leaks to find none. since several oil changes leading up to now the vehicle continues to burn all oil within 2000 miles before nxt oil change. i was also sure to check engine oil after each change to be sure engine oil was in fact full.

Check engine light came on when i first got in the car went to a mechanic the code said it was an oxygen sensor switch wish i had changed last year and they recall at the kia dealer after about two days the light went back off again was off for about a week came back on again went back to mechanic said it was the same code again the light went out he told me maybe it was bad gas in the car car engine light came back on about two weeks later i went to kia paid $90 for diagnostic they said it was the catalytic converter $1,500 job i asked them if it was part of the oxygen sensor recall they said no and they said it wasn't covered under my hundred thousand mile guarantee i went to a private mechanic to have it repaired for $1,000 and the check engine light came back on a week later he put in a brand new catalytic converter from kia i don't know what to do anymore because i love the car but i cannot spare this expense and i'm afraid if it will catch fire or die while i'm driving

While driving at night on the street and on the freeway, the headlights begun to flicker on and off when using the turn signal, and will turn off completely for a few seconds then turn back on. also, the headlights will randomly flicker. i replaced the headlight bulbs but it did not resolve the issue.

The engine failed at 23,600 mi. i was sitting in traffic when the "oil" light came on and the engine seized up completely. fortunately this did not happen on the highway. the kia dealership denied the powertrain warranty stating that since i did the oil changes myself the warranty was void. i paid a mechanic to replace the engine. when i took it to the shop the mechanic said they had just replaced the engine in a 2014 kia optima and where more than familiar with an engine swap on a modern kia. these cars are not safe, the government should be investigating kia motors for their fraudulent practices.

Chronic dead car. battery tests fine, no draws and was replaced to ensure failures were not the battery. 30 days out of service to date. dealer/manufacturer cannot diagnose issue. there have been noises from fuse box under hood while car is dead. clicking noises inside car, when car is dead.

Driving stopped at a light. car died at light. tried to start would not start. pushed it out of the intersection. someone stopped to give me a jump. after getting a jump a loud knocking noise was coming from the engine. so i turned it off and had it towed. at the time it died it was running fine. no noises no lights, no indication for why this occured. towed it to kia and a week later they said it needed and engine. after looks ng into it we found out 2015 kia souls had recalls for the same type of issue. we were told our vin wasn't covered under the recall. but it displays the same issues for recall. the car has less than 100,000 miles?

On nov 3rd 2020 i was waiting to make a left turn across a road with two way traffic. i accelerated through the turn in order to get in front of any oncoming vehicles. as soon as i did this i noticed my car had trouble gaining speed and felt off. i continued to drive and realized i could not accelerate properly and my engine was making a terrible knocking noise. i drove to work and hoped if i let it sit during my shift maybe it would be better in the morning (i work overnight so this happened in the evening). after work my car was still making the same noise so i took it to meineke where i normally get my oil changed. they did the diagnostic and called to tell me i barely had any oil and i needed a new engine. at first they tried to tell me if was my doing but after some research i have come across this thread where almost everyone is having the same problem i do have the 2.0l engine on my 2015 kia soul that i purchased in 2016. currently i am at around 88,000 miles which seems to be a common theme. unfortunately after taking it to kia i was informed they would not cover it even though they had extended the warranty for something similar to this issue. this is because someone leased the vehicle before i purchased it and so i am considered the second owner and i do not get the same warranty. trying to figure out a means to fix my vehicle. i did buy other coverage when my vehicle was purchased that may help but if not i am stuck footing over $5,000 in repairs.

I was driving home on the highway from dinner with my fiance and son who's 10 years old doing about 65. the engine felt like it was stuttering shaking and i looked at my dash board and all my lights were blinking. i pulled off the highway and started to smell something burning. i got out and looked under the hood and it was on fire. i took our sodas from the car from the restaurant to try n put it out but it didn't help so i told both my fiance and son to get out of the car and we got away from it so we didn't get injured and all we could do is stand there and watch it burn.

I have a 2015 kia soul that is less than 5 years old with 83000. mills on it and the breaks lines rusted out witch caused a complete break frailer . i was exiting off a freeway off ramp and went to use the breaks on the vehicle and they went completely out . i was fortinet that there were no cars in front of me or in the intersection as i went thru it. i filed a complaint with kia , case # 13860668 .i feel a car that is less than 5 years should not have this problem

Driving on highway 70 and noticed that my tire was getting low. i got off the highway just in time. the tire shop. at 9550 st charles rock rd, breckenridge hills, mo 63114 at 5pm. the two young men came out laughing and one changed my tire. left the shop and 30 mins later my tire was on flat. came back the next morning. young man said he'll fix it. he didn't give me another but stated a nail was in it. he think i'm stupid. he know he sold me a bad tire with the nail in it already. he painted the tire then put it back on my car. i was suspicious about the paint and paint brush. left the shop and went home. on my way to work the same day almost had two accidents. tire was hard to steer and the wheel didn't turn. i was scared to death. i could of lost my life 😔. . people need good used tires. finally i went to car x and they took care of my problem and i felt safe to drive again.

Two weeks after receiving a letter from kia motors that the expectations of oil maintenance has changed from what it was when i originally purchased my vehicle. i notice that my car burned oil quickly and even accused the dealer of not putting enough oil in my vehicle at oil change intervals but i never seen oil leaks on my drive way. while driving, my vehicle suddenly would not accelerate in mid traffic. took to the dealer and my catalytic converter needs to be replaced. come to find out that the oil that i thought was buring was actually getting into my cat. converter which caused the damage. my vehicle has less than 100k miles. reported to the kia consumer assistance for recall and after 4 weeks of going back and forth with them on claim number 13810354, their response was that they could not reach me and denied my claim. i have actual dates and time that i have called and reached out to them to get a assistance. i was constantly told that they could not reach their dpsm and ecr to get approval. my case was closed. i find out that other owners are having a similar problem with their kia souls. please help. this appears to be a manufacture defect causing the oil to burn and destroying the catalytic converter in these vehicles. my vehicle has been at the bowie kia motors service station for 4 weeks while i was waiting on a response from kia consumer assistance. called kia consumer assistance today and was told of the denial for repair assistance.

I was driving down a colorado highway with my family when my car started to smoke. once we pulled over the car began to smoke even more, after a few minutes the front part under the hood caught on fire. we had to quickly exit as the car immediately was engulfed into flames.

Vehicle has 65,000 miles on it, has been service regularly according to manufacturer recommendations. noticed ticking noise in engine just prior to most recent oil change. repair facility noted there was less than 1 quart of oil in engine. no visible oil leaks. no oil temp light indicator. no engine hi temp indicated. engine is burning approx .75 quarts of oil per 1000 miles.

For over a year, i've had the engine light illuminate a dozen times and everytime i've had to visit my dealership to have the system scanned and always reports error code: p050a. i've been told by the shop that kia is aware of the issue and no fix is available at this time. having to constantly go back to the dealership shop for an error on kias part is rediculous and has cost way too much of my time and added mileage. a year of the same story, "awaiting a fix" and no updates, timetable or sign that kia actually cares and is working on a resolution. not sure what their engineers do all day but this is rediculous.

Engine began making knocking noise. checked oil level and no oil was showing on the dipstick. had to add 2.5 quarts of oil and continued to add around 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles. began to notice loss of power/acceleration and gas mileage. took vehicle in to have spark plugs and fuel system cleaned. this did not resolve the issue. took the car in again and they told me the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. replacement has resolved power issues in the 3000 miles i have driven since replacement, but is still using oil at a high rate. checked the nhtsa website and noticed many other owners reporting the same issues. received a notice from kia over the summer to not got longer than 3750 miles between oil changes, so kia must know there is an issue with the engine. hopefully they will issue a recall as they have done with the 1.6l engine.

I was going 65 mph, with my cruise control on, while it was raining. i hit some standing water, which caused me to hydroplane. i could not gain control of my vehicle, so i ended up spinning and hitting a concrete barrier. none of my airbags deployed. thankfully i wasn't seriously injured, but the airbags should have deployed either way.

Sudden engine failure without any warning lights coming on. no slow down or apparent problems. sudden engine failure in the middle of traffic in pittsburgh area causing a traffic hazard. vehicle was in motion on a street. found out this is the number one reported problem with this vehicle. also issues with the kia sorento engine. same problem? recall was issued for sorento. i feel this problem should be repaired by kia. this is a road hazard when vehicle stops in middle of traffic with no warning.

When using cruise control, car will randomly speed up or slow down and get very loud and also jerk forward. it will also occasionally jerk forward or backwards while driving normally.

While driving engine locked up shortly after an oil change. previous to oil change, it was going through oil quickly, approximately 1qt every two weeks. when engine locked up, towed to certified kia dealership & mechanic said the engine was locked up and there was nothing they could do, an engine replacement is required. motor only has 80,000 miles and still 2 years left on the loan. after review there have been a great number of complaints about this. kia needs to be held accountable! same vehicle with alternate motors have had the recall for the same issues, this specific motor needs the recall too! car has been sitting since failure due to replacement engine being unaffordable.

Vehicle never displayed a need to check oil, despite having regular oil changes and being under the mileage recommended for next oil change. while driving on highway the engine suddenly stopped with no smoke or overheating. mechanics think it was due to no oil.

My headlights have begun to flicker on and off while i am driving. sometimes they do not turn on at all. this results in me driving for anywhere between 1 second and 15 seconds at night without lighting. the lights are disturbed when i try to use my brights or turn signal. the documentation is taken while parked in my driveway because i feel unsafe driving at night now with unreliable headlights. from an internet search i can see that many other kia owners are having the same issue.

Was 2 miles from home when oil light blinked a couple of times. it quit blinking but engine started sounding like lifters knocking. made it home that way. next morning changed oil then tried to crank it. cranked and ran about 30 seconds; oil light bright the entire time. tried again same thing. removed oil filter no oil getting to it. talked to mechanics who said could be oil control valve gone bad. pulled both and they were plugged with metal shavings. knew then both oil pump and motor were bad. called kia,was told that as i had bought it second hand that the 83000 miles on it made it out of warranty. that they could not help me.

I bought this car at 62,000 miles and was told by the dealer i still had a powertrain warranty until 100,000 miles. i have had issues with oil disappearing from the start. i have to put in oil between changes and have been getting it changed every 3000 miles. it takes about 2 quarts in between changes. there are no signs of leaks, nothing in my driveway or anywhere i park. i did read that they recalled the 1.6 ltr engine but have not recalled the 2.0 ltr. i am having the same problems as the 1.6. i see many people with the 2.0 have reported the same problem. please get involved as i see no recall on my car and it is not right that i should have to put in so much oil between changes. the oil light has never come on and the first time i noticed it, the oil was right at the low mark. the oil always looks fuzzy which in my 50 years of driving old cars and checking the oil constantly, i have never seen. this needs to be a recall asap. i am at 87,000 right now. please help us make sure that kia does the right thing in this. i have read through this website and seen many other kia owner with the same problem.

I purchased this car in march not knowing it had an recall on it , my car has this loud noise coming from under the hood of the car , mechanic told me it was the engine and catalytic converter and it was smoking very bad this happen on the eway lucky i got it to the house

My vehicle with 59,000 miles developed a knocking sound in engine. took to kia dealership. they said my car has bearing failure but my car is out of warranty due to time, not mileage. i found where kia recalled 695,000 (2015) kia souls with the 2.0 liter motor (same as mine) for a design flaw that causes bearing failure. they told me sorry i’m out of luck. they want to charge me $10,000 for a new engine.

Vehicle is losing oil so much that oil light is flashing on and kia says nothing is wrong with the car. it’s losing more than 3 qts in less than 3k miles. there are no obvious signs of a leak and the car is making an unexplained knocking sound when accelerating from a stop and around 40 mph.

Engine abruptly failed on freeway and is no longer operating. i was operating the vehicle at approximately 60 mph as i exited the freeway. immediately the engine began making knocking noises and jerked. i pulled over and the vehicle had to be towed from directly off the freeway. this was a well maintained and operated vehicle with service records to prove it.

Car while be delayed in shifting gears and then all the sudden accelerate too fast and jerks the car, oil keeps running really low after putting oil in but no visible leaks. engine light continues to come on reading code is p0420 stating problems with catalytic converter. recalls are in place for this year make and model for catalytic converter but my vin number isn’t showing up even though i’m having the exact problems as described in recall!!*dt*jb

When at complete stop idling is very rough and engine will cut off. when accelerating from a complete stop shifting is very delayed and hard, once gear shifts then it accelerates too fast at once. when makes a left turn from stop light check engine light came on and code was p0420 about catalytic converter.

About three months ago my engine light came on and the code was for a catalytic converter. but the light went away after a couple days and i forgot about it. last week my son borrowed the car to drive 200 miles because his grandfather was dying in dallas. he saw the engine light was on but thought he could make it there and back. but the car broke down after puffs of black smoke and decreased speed. towed it to auto repair shop who said there was no oil in the car and the engine was locked up. i typed the vin number into your database and discovered that the car was under recall for a defective part. your recall code is 19v120. manufacturer recall is sc176. called kia manufacturing and they said get the car to a kia dealership and they'll run a diagnostic. if the trouble came from the defective part they'd replace the engine. just heard back from university kia in waco and they said there were two leaks in the engine block and they didn't get a code for the catalytic converter so they weren't liable. but i got a code three months ago. and they couldn't tell me how the engine block leaks happened. just that it wasn't their fault.

As of last year, my car started eating up about 5qt of oil in a month. i took it in to several replicable service centers, and no one ever found the issues as to why my car was engulfing so much oil. finally, the end of july 2020, my car started to not accelerate. i took it into a kia service center this time and they explained to me that my car catalytic converter was clogged, and i needed to replace it. at this time, is when i found out that my car was out of warranty. now remember i’m thinking i have 100.000-mile warranty and was only at 84,000-miles. this is when i first found out i was lied to. as i’m sure you know, i immediately called the car lot, there was nothing they could do. i then called kia, and they gave me a good will repair for the converter. i myself still had to come out another $700 dollars at the time. now here is where it all gets complicated. not even two weeks after i received my car back, the engine gets a hole in it. yes, the engine goes out. now here is where i’m trying to get assistance at. i do extensive research, (i will add links below) i first found the recall issues on my car. this why kia paid for the converter because i found it there was a recall on it. but the issues that caused the converter to go out in the first place was never, either 1. detected or 2. looked over, because not even two weeks later my car, as i’m driving starts making noises, smoked, blew out a very loud noise and stopped in the middle of the highway. this time the diagnosis was the crank shaft in the engine was dry, no oil which caused it to seize up then cause it to forcible move, which created the hole in the engine. now going back to when i first started, i was putting 5 qtrs. of oil a month. my car was never fixed or diagnosed correctly, i.e. leaving to this current issue. which is now over $6,000 more to fix.

While driving this past friday night, suddenly my car started making a loud internal engine noise. pulled over immediately and checked oil. found oil level unexpectedly low since oil was changed just a couple months ago and i check oil level monthly. added 1 1/2 quarts of oil - clacking improved only slightly. returned home immediately. had mechanic check the car first thing monday morning. was informed the car needs a new motor. mechanic said parts are typically guaranteed for 6 months; but because there is little confidence in kia motors right now, his parts supplier will only guarantee it for 30 days. mechanic said he has personally worked on kias from 2010 and 2013 with this very same issue. my 2015 model should also be under this same recall.

1. i experienced this twice now. driving down an ally the vehicle turned off on me. the second time i was parked ran into my house came out and it was off. luckily i wasn't on the highway at the time of this happening. also in somehow lock my keys in the vehicle when i came out to grab something from the trunk . 2. you'd think a 2015 vehicle wouldn't let you do that especially with the keyless entry. 3. also i'm noticing a vibration in the idle when sitting parked with the engine on. 4. while in cruise control i noticed that the car does not stay at a consistent speed especially going up and down hills. the vehicle loses speed within a 10 to 20 mile per hour range.

I got a recall notice letter from kia regarding my kia soul. i took it in and they supposedly repaired the catalytic converter. starting in august 2020, my check engine light came on. brought it to the dealer who supposedly fixed it and they said it was indeed the catalytic converter. they put in a request to have it fixed only for corporate to decline saying it was no longer in warranty and has it escalated to the higher ups of corporate. i spoke to melissa on september 21, 2020 around 3:45-4:00 p.m. eastern time for her to tell me they had already repaired once at good will at the dealer and a second time will be declined. however, i explained a catalytic converter should be good for up to 10 years and this particular vehicle had a recall that again failed. upon reading about the recall, i know it can cause a fire if not repaired. i do not believe they fixed the recall/or that the recall part was a defective one. please help me with getting kia to resolve this issue. the date below is an approximate date.

The engine of my 2015 kia soul has been damaged because of the "piston rod brake" which has also "punctured the engine block" and as i was driving on the highway when oil licked out of the vehicle. i stopped quickly and put oil. but the oil licked out again. i was fortunate that the vehicle did not result to fire. however, i have taken the vehicle to my nearest kia dealer and they have refused to replace fix the engine as directed by the recall requirments. please help.

Owner of 2015 kia soul+ with 87k miles.i bought this car used with a little over 24k on it. i commute 90 miles a day, highway and city driving. while driving home on 9/11/2020, loud tapping noises began from engine when i turned a corner. i pulled into a auto zone to check oil levels. oil was not showing on dipstick and no low oil light came on in car.no leaks and no smoking. i purchased 2 quarts of oil and put them in. the next day i i was scheduled for routine oil change and tire rotation. i took it to my regular service provider; kia in lumberton, nc. i asked them numerous questions about where the oil could be going.they said it could be slipping past the seals. i have always gotten oil changes every 3-5k miles. they have started a 1k oil test. every 1k for 5k, i have to take it back so that they can check the oil level. the service tech told me that i may be looking at engine replacement with some kind of kia forgiveness program, since i am not the original owner and i still owe on this vehicle. i should not be losing 2 quarts of oil from my car every 3-5k miles! my former vehicle had over 200k miles, and i never had to add oil. i have read that other 2015 kia owners have had this same issue. this is a definite problem and there needs to be some kind of recall.

While driving in neighborhood came to a stop and when i proceeded to go my car wouldn’t move and i was pressing on gas pedal, 5 seconds later my car accelerated really fast and suddenly and i almost rear ended the car in front of me. the delayed shifting has almost caused an accident three times now! i don’t feel safe driving my kia and i just bought this car 2 months ago. also check engine light comes on and code read is p0420.

While driving 70mph on a highway, my kia soul spontaneously burst into flames underneath a stranger stopped with a fire extinguisher luckily. fire dept says had we not used the extinguisher, my car quite likely would have exploded. prior to incident, i had no warning lights on, no oil leak, oil needed changing soon but wasn’t too low. there was no collision.

At the end of february 2020 my vehicle would not accelerate over 40 mph. the vehicle was taken to the local kia dealer for repairs. reportedly the issue was related to the catalytic converter and value purge control, both where replaced. in june the vehicle was taken in for an oil change, but the technician recommended it be returned to the dealer due to metal shavings seen in the tank. kia recently issued a warning about changing the oil as recommended. the vehicle has been properly maintained, yet the oil seems to evaporate after 1200 miles. this is problematic and hazardous because the check engine light has never illuminated with any of the noted issues.

Kia soul+ 2015 - engine oil disappears after driving 1500 miles with no visible ground leaks or blue exhaust. 2nd time it happend the engine had to be replaced as the piston was destroyed due to no oil. low oil light never came on and uvo self diagnostics never warned of a problem. good thing it didn't happen at highway speeds.

Vehicle out of nowhere while driving on expressway started to decelerate i immediately pulled over safely and noticed the lights on my dashboard were illuminated check engine light and engine oil light. i took vehicle to havoline oil express and they checked my codes changed spark plugs and ignition coils but car still sputters and power is low lights are dim i have it now at a kia dealership because i believe it to be the engine or something in the powertrain. nothing like this has ever happened to the vehicle since i've purchased it.

Recently had my oil changed 1k miles ago , stopped to get gas and all of a sudden the car jerks and now all i hear is clanking from inside the engine . i was at a stop light making a left hand turn . when it happened i tried to accelerate but it wouldn’t go nowhere so i start turn the vehicle off wait 5 to 10 minutes turned it back on still no emergency lights or any lights at all – and it starts right up and will drive but you can tell a rod thrown inside.are use fully synthetic and take very well care of my wife’s car

My engine failed and needs replacing but their recall doesn’t specifically include my model. even though the same engine with a turbo was included ( mine does not have a turbo) and the smaller non turbo was included! i don’t seem to have a voice in this! i believe it should definitely be included in the recall! i still owe money on this car witch will cost more to fix than it is worth! they even extended the warranty on the other models but not mine!

I bought a kia soul about 4 months ago from private dealer, i spent over 1200 dollars on fixing it so for. but i went in for a oil change and to see what this loud noise was and the mechanic stop with the oil change because he spotted metal in the oil and told me to take it to the kia dealer. as soon as i turn in the dealership the car stops. they tell me the motors gone and that they cant cover it.even though 2015 1.6l engine is doing the same thing.

The car had an issues with the engine and converter ...they fixed the converter and never fixed the issues with the engine that caused the converter to become clog ....when i took it into the dealer service center i told them what the issues was and they never looked into the engine, two weeks after i got my car back the engine now has a hole in the block because the never fixed the issues that caused the converter to be blocked ...this is ridiculous, and i dont have all this money they want to fix a car that was broken from the beginning and the issues started way before my warranty ended!!

Crankshaft pulley bolt broke causing damage to the engine

Headlights started flashing on and off in a 3 flash amber light sequence. dash lights were on. keyless entry would not work. manual key entry required. car would not start and light malfunction continued until all systems are dead. planning to take to mechanic today if jumping battery will start car. car was in my driveway when neighbor brought my attention to the lights.

Passenger side headlight works intermittently, if you twist wires a certain way, the headlight turns on. suspect the connector overheated and melted preventing it from making a solid connection to bulb.

In 2017 while going straight on highway uphill, my vehicle suddenly started loud pinging and lost power while driving, no warning lights. i pulled over and stopped, kia towed to dealership. said no oil in engine and engine failed. this was serviced by same dealership 2 weeks prior. kia replaced that engine. 2019 car in being serviced and after i was told same seal is bad again and was replaced. 2020 car in being serviced and was told same seal was bad a third time. afraid to drive car when not lubricated due to fire issue with souls.

The headlights flicker off or turn off while stopped or driving. wiggling the multifunction switch will usually bring the lights back on temporarily. this is a known issue with the contacts in the multifunction switch. kia has issued a warranty extension for this issue for my2014 and prior, but has not issued a warranty extension for my2015 even though this is the same issue.

In october of 2019,i started having trouble with my 2015 kia soul accelerating. it would bog down and i had trouble getting it to shift into overdrive. i took it into the kia dealership in idaho falls` and they said the catalytic converter was plugged, warped and very hot. they told me i had to replace the part but there were no catalytic converters to be found in the united states. apparently, due to a recall everyone was having their cars fixed. the dealer found one in seattle that i had to pay to have shipped. the total repair, including shipping, was close to $2000.00. the repair was performed in december 2019. then in june 2020, on a trip to salt lake, my car started blogging down again. my check engine light came on. i had someone look at the code and they said the engine was “misfiring”. a short time later, my car bogged down on the way home and i could not go more than 40 mph on the freeway. i had to drive 35 miles with my hazards on. i took it to a local dealer and he diagnosed it as a bad catalytic converter. i decided to take it back to the dealership that replaced the catalytic converter just six months ago. now they say my engine is damaged and i have to rebuild the engine or get a new car. it seems suspicious that i am experiencing the exact same issues covered by the recall on all 2015 kia soul base models but my plus model is not covered. “nhtsa campaign id: 19v120000 report date: feb 21, 2019 consequence: piston damage may result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. a broken connecting rod may puncture the engine block allowing engine oil to escape. the leaking oil may contact the exhaust, increasing the risk of a fire.“ i believe my car has the same catalytic overheating protection engine control unit logic is also faulty and needs to be included in the recall which includes getting a new engine.

Car make and model- kia soul 1.6 2015 on or around 07/05/2019, a check engine light came on the car dashboard, i called cherry hill kia in new jersey and was asked to bring the car in for an sc176 ecu upgrade. in less than a year after the upgrade the same check engine light came on again and cherry hill kia diagnosed p0420 code which is related to the same issue from last year's recall with nhtsa recall bulletin reference number-19v120000.

I brought my vehicle up to benson kia to get recalls repaired on my 2015 kia soul. there were issues with the catalytic converter due to a recall and i was informed by the servicing station at benson kia that the issue was resolved. there is a rattling noise that is coming from the vehicle. before i drove my vehicle off the lot the ratting noise was still present. i asked them to look at the vehicle before i drove off the lot. the mechanic brent looked at the vehicle and told me that it is the resonator making the noise and it is from a build up of gas fumes from the exhaust. i was then informed that the resistor falls out of warranty. prior to getting the recalls repaired i never heard the noise. the dealership is not wanting to fix the issue that was caused by them changing the catalytic converter and told me that they no longer help me as their me chi sonics have done all that they could and they refused service on my vehicle. they then proceeded to inform me to go to a different kia dealership to have them look at the vehicle. the dealership is approximately 30 minutes away from me and i am unable to get the vehicle to the shop

I was driving with my children down the freeway and my engine started making a load noise and i realized my my engine was locking up. thank god i had enough time to pull over or i could of been in a huge wreck with my children in the car! the engine is shot.there is a recall for the 2015 kia soul 1.6 for the engine but not for my 2.0. please help. i need it fixed

I was at a red light, the engine stalled, or cut out very low almost cutting off, but caught up and proceeded. this is the second time in less than a year that this has happened.. the first time i was driving on 75 when it sputtered twice but then proceeded...

My catalytic converter just went out on me ..i show that the kia soul has a recall but only for the 1.6l on the converter, i believe the same issue is happening to the 2.0l and i just bought the car a year ago ..i called kia and they adv my car just got out of warranty at 80000 miles ...i'm at 820000 and the problem was happening before the warranty ended ....it wasnt until the part went out is when they found the issue.

I live in the bay area and i was driving back from oakland to vallejo, ca when the issue occurred. i accelerated to get over when i noticed my car's engine sounded like there was a knock sound going from under the hood. i pulled over to a safe location and inspected under the hood. i checked my oil stick which to my surprise was completely dry. my oil light was not activated, to alert the that my oil was low in my vehicle. i went into the target i pulled into and purchased two quarts of oil and let my car absorb it for a few minutes. this time the knocking noise is louder. i drive a few minutes on the streets testing my car before testing the freeway. two minutes into driving on the freeway, my check engine light, oil and battery lights all turned on at the same time as my car began to slow itself down. i was able to safely make it to the shoulder. i waited 2 1/2 hours to get towed back home. my care was towed to the closet kia dealership the next day, and they said, "its the engine". with that said, i have seen the recalls which this qualifies for. i believe my vehicle meets the criteria for this particular recall.

We purchased the 2015 kia soul with the 2.0 l engine for our daughter. the car was used when we bought it and had 33,748 miles. my daughter had driven it to a shopping area and parked. when she got back in and started it to drive home the engine was making a knocking sound and did not want to accelerate at the normal rate. she was able to make it home and we had it towed to the local kia dealer. the finding was that the connector rod bearing had heated up and was causing the knocking due to lack of lubrication. we had two oil changes completed on this vehicle and a third oil change was scheduled to happen a couple days after the engine issue occurred. the car was only at 49,554 miles when the engine issue happened. our oil changes were with the synthetic blend oil at a kia dealer. the kia dealer is now saying that the engine will likely need replaced and of course it is now out of the original warranty and we are waiting for the extended warranty adjuster to look at it and make a determination. in reading other posts, an initial recall for the 1.6 l engine was issued, however the same type of engine failure seems to also be occurring in the 2.0 l engines as described in the many posts that are listed. those posts describe the same issue that we encountered (sudden knocking noise/engine needing replaced, connector rod/bearing issue). it also appears that kia and/or the third party insurance providers are not willing to rectify or stand behind the repairs of these even as similar issues exist within the recall of the 1.6 l engine models. luckily there was no fire or injury as has been seen in some of the other breakdowns. how long before the 2.0 l engine is added to the recall list or does it require bodily injury before this is escalated and the manufacturer takes ownership of this?

We had the oil changed before a trip out of town. confirmed oil was full, drove out of town, once back home the car started making a noise under the hood. no warning light at all. had car towed to dealership, they now tell me that it spun a bearing and the whole engine needs replacing. we bought this car as a certified per-owned and it should be covered under warranty. now they want to see all of my receipts for oil changes for the past 2 years. i have some but not all and i am getting the feeling that they don't want to fix my car. kia, you know this is a known problem, you can see how many folks are having the same issue, do the right think and fix all of these cars!!!

On june 12th or 13th can’t recall what day around 9 am on mojave road in parker az, i was driving back to my grandmothers home about 2 miles away from my friends house when all of a sudden i started hearing a knocking sound coming from under my hood. i made my dad check where it was coming from and he said from my engine. i haven’t drove my car since because i’m afraid i’ll make more damage to it.

When turning on the ignition nothing happens. the dash lights go on but the car doesn't start. after a few tries it will start. sometimes a short hesitation, other times it will take several tries. i have a new battery.

Car was in motion going down street then engine stopped froze shut off while driving through middle of intersection. tried to restart car once it started again engine began a loud grinding noise like pistons were ready to explode. i drove home with the engine make the loud grinding noise and stalling creating unsafe driving condition. i see that there is a 2015 kia soul recall for gdi engines but the kia headquarters are saying there is no recall. the car is at the kia service center now and the first thing they said is that we may need a new engine. i feel that this is a very unsafe in this car and i am afraid of knowm kia soul engine defeacts could put my life in danger while driving.

I was driving at approximately 55 mph on a local highway and the car shuttered. immediately after the shudder there was a loud knocking noise coming from the engine. i called renaldo kia in shelby nc and was able to drive the car there. about two miles from the dealership the check engine light came on and was alerted by the internal system that there was an abnormal fault in the engine. the car had less than 78k miles. the service center rep said that 2015 kia's were constantly in her shop and there was in fact 2 in front of mine for the exact same issue. i was told that both of these cars had mileage exceeding 100k miles but that this was not a unique issue for this make and year. my car's engine is currently being torn apart and i do not know exactly what the failure mode was but was advised by the service department its most likely going to result in a replaced engine.

I purchased my 2015 kia soul used in june 2017. while driving straight in low traffic to work on a freeway in may 2020, i felt my kia soul begin to bog down, then the engine light came on. next, i heard a knocking sound. i stopped and checked the oil and saw it was low, despite a full oil change in march 2020. i filled it with oil and i was able to get it to my mechanic the next day. at the mechanics, i was told he was only able to find less than 1 quart of oil despite me adding 3 quarts. he said the engine was damaged and would need to be fully replaced.

Car was at 73,000 miles and i had only had it for about a year and during this time i heard a ticking noise, rattling from the engine so i got a oil change. the noise continued and got louder. one day on the freeway the noise got extremely loud then i heard a loud pop and didn’t know at the time but my car began smoking and someone thankfully flagged me down. i got out of the vehicle to see all the oil completely came out my car was complete empty of oil. my engine blew. i took my car to a dealership where they just sent a bill $5000+ and didn’t check to see the reason on my engine blowing i believe it’s part of the recall even though it’s not specific for my vin since i literally just got the vehicle it’s only 5 years old the engine should not have blown up like that. i could have been seriously injured.

Check engine light came on this morning. auto parts store ran the code, we were informed it was just the gas cap. tightened the gas cap, and they reset the code. about 3 hours later the oil light started flashing, we promptly added more oil. several hours later we were going to lunch and the engine is knocking very loudly. vehicle is not running properly, and we were told it sounds like a rod or bearing.

2015 kia soul + has just been checked by our dealership service department for not accelerating and shifting properly. dealer performed transmission service at 106,768 miles on june 30, 2020, and this did not clear the issues, 2nd service inspectrion on july 1, 2020 resulted in service department saying the issues are with a plugged catalytic converter, which has been a potential contributor to the ongoing nhtsa investigation of all kia soul models with the 2.0l nu engine. we also noted excessive oil consumption to the service department on multiple occasions, but they have declined starting an oil consumption test. neither the dealer nor extended warranty company will cover repairs, and allowed us to leave the dealership with the vehicle in potentially unsafe condition, with no remedy other than us paying for parts and labor to replace the catalytic converter. i want to have my complaint added to the ongoing investigation, and can provide and encourage other kia soul owners to also add their similar issues,m which are well documented on line in forums and social media.

Cold idle sensor will cause the car to rec at a high rpm. kia has stated they are aware of the issue and have no know fix.

On may 11, 2018, we purchased a used 2015 kia soul for use by our daughter, who was in college in at the time. it came with a manufacturer’s warranty, which we were advised expired on april 27, 2020. we purchased an additional extended cna national warranty corp. warranty from the dealer, carmax. the car has been regularly maintained, and has been serviced for all recall items that we have been notified of by kia. on march 1, 2020, our daughter moved to san francisco, and housed the vehicle at our home in petaluma, ca. due to being sheltered in place during the pandemic, the car sat idle and was not used again until she retrieved it in may. on may 10, 2020, on her way back from petaluma to sf, while traveling south on highway 101 a “check engine” light went on and she began to experience a loss of power in the vehicle. it would not accelerate past 40 mph, and so she exited the highway and called aaa. the car was towed to our local auto repair shop in petaluma. the cost of the tow was $276. which was not covered by either aaa or the warranty. an inspection of the vehicle, performed by our mechanic along with the warranty inspector, disclosed that 3 of 4 of the connecting rod bearings had broken and the car was no longer operable. due to resulting damage to the engine, the entire engine assembly had to be removed and replaced. we received a rebuilt engine per the terms of the extended warranty, not a new engine. the car was in the shop for over a month while the inspection, which needed to be performed with the warranty inspector present, could be arranged and a replacement engine could be found. *tr

My motor engine started making a knocking sound and start to stop moving took it nappa mecanich and was told it was not fixable the part that is the problem has been recalled

There was a recall, took it to a local dealer in rocky mount nc. was told it needed catalytic converter replaced. kia had it fixed. about two months later check engine light began flashing and car would not accelerate pass 60. again i took it to the dealership in rocky mount nc. was told they didn't know what the codes were,and that they could reset the computer. after doing so i relocated to high point nc and upon arrival, it began to do the same. my car has now been at the dealership here in high point over a month. they just called stating my engine was blown. that it would cost 3633.94 for an engine. kia would pay half. labor would be 2399 and that's all on me. i still owe 8 grand and don't have that kind of money. thoughts? *tr

I purchased my vehicle certified used from enterprise rent a car. a little over 30,000 miles i began having engine oil burn issues in which i was losing engine oil quickly and with no discernible leaks after bringing it to a mechanic. i have learned from researching other complaints online that this is a problem many with this model vehicle are experiencing and that dealerships are often telling consumers who voice their concern that they must not have handled maintenance correctly. i have since been keeping oil on hand to refill my oil somewhat regularly and checking the oil more frequently as this issue apparently may cause an engine to seize with little warning and no oil warning light, as mine does not go off when it otherwise should when i am ridiculously low. the rate of burn is inconsistent and i just had another surprise to that effect and i am worried that while i still owe money on the vehicle i may not be able to afford replacing the engine myself and am interested in why this hasn't resulted in a manufacturer recall? *tr

Engine is using excessive amounts of oil and there are no apparent leaks. a seized engine on the interstate can lead to an accident. i see multiple reports of this problem with this engine and nothing is being done to correct this safety issue. *tr

Loss of power, needs oil every 1k miles. catalytic through the muffler clogged and had to be replaced. everything stated in the sc176 recall for the 1.7l engine is exactly the same on the 2.0 been getting worse and worse wont last another year.

I was driving down chuckanut drive. windy road, i came to a corner going 15 mph then it felt like the engine turned off. so i pullled over to see. when i stopped the engine was still on so i put it in park turned the car off and opened hood checked oil everything seemed fine start driving again i noticed it was very touchy on gas pedal you couldn’t really accelerate. i get like 2 miles down the accelerator stopped then it just had the worst noise coming from engine and the dash light said oil was blinking ! i couldn’t go any further! i sat there for a couple hours finally got a hold of cab company that brought me oil i put it in and still the worst sounding noise coming from engine. my friend came and got me and my car is still on chuckanut! as we speak i’m trying to figure out what to do next chuckanut is on highway 11 in wshington state the car was in motion and now is parked on pullout on chuckanut drive

My car engine light turned on then began to smoke and stall out while on the freeway tt. then the hood began smoking rapidly and lady calming rushing to me yelling for me to get out the car. i escaped the car left the driver door open, then i noticed i left my wallet and keys in there car. i grabbed my wallet and keys out of the ignition. then car ignited in flames and all doors and windows locked. this incident occurred on 4/26/20 @ 3pm.

Vehicle just hit 80k. low oil light came on @ 2500 miles. checked and 2 qts disappeared. filled back up with 2 qts and a month later, check oil light came back on and was again, 2 qts low. filled back up and immediately the low oil light started flickering again. replaced the oil pressure sensor and that fixed the flickering light but am still losing oil. no leaks or smoking. this is ridiculous. *tr

Car lost power and wouldn't start. i had it towed to the dealer to find out it had piston failure. upon doing more research i found out this is a common problem for the kia soul. i got my car though car max and the warranty company refused to fix it as i could only provide one years worth of oil change receipts. i am suck paying for a car that wont run kia is aware of the issue and will do nothing to help. *tr

The car died - it was the catalytic converter it was replaced - then shortly after the engine died while driving on the highway. i have read that the engine was damaged by the fault with the catalytic converter - so does the man at the garage - kia just laughs at me

While driving home and at a stop sign my car began to knock something fierce, being a few homes away pulling into driveway. i now hear louder knocking and a new clanking noise (metal in washer sound). car was towed to mechanic i was told the rod was busted. needs an engine overhaul. it has 78,000 miles on it and no longer runs. all maintenance was kept up on this car, this was not due to my neglect and the check engine light did not come on. a car i can't afford to fix and still pay for.

When i turned my car on it heard a knocking coming from the engine.

High exhaust gas temperatures led to damage to the catalytic converter,allowing engine oil to escape damaging valve gasket, spark plugs, ignition coils and head gasket. also 2 valves were bent.this damage occurred while driving on the i-95 expressway in jacksonville, fl. vehicle went into limp mode while going 55 miles per hour. it had to be towed to a local repair shop.

The car is not accelerating properly and not changing gears correctly and automatically. the check engine light is on and is running several codes. it may be the catalytic converters. i was driving on the highway and my car started putting and no accelerating past 60mph. it makes this loud clicking noise when i try and go faster and also it sounds really loud like a lawn mower.

After having the cat converter replaced before the recall ever came out or existed the dealership never changed the replaced cat which was as damaged as the first one but then had the ecu upgrade done at the same mileage as the first on going bad and now blew the engine and caught fire!

I took my 2015 kia soul to miami lakes kia twice in december 2019, to check a clicking noise when turning both left and right, more consistently when turning right. i'm not sure but i have an inkling that this noise may be related to a problem with the steering column, cv joints or the axle. when i picked up my car the 1st time, as i made a right turn, i heard the same clicking noise. i called service and let them know that i still heard the noise. i returned my car a week later and took a test ride with two technicians, one technician informed me that the “the noise needed to be louder” for them to repair it. his claim seems unreasonable, especially since everyone who rides in my car hears the clicking noise, and there is obviously a mechanical issue with the car’s steering or something related. i had my car checked at tires plus, the clicking noise was duplicated on the test drive and the mechanic informed me that this is a “recall” issue and to take my car to the dealer. also, on february 21, 2020, the car battery that i purchased on july 31, 2018, died. this battery did not last 18 months (36 month warranty).

On feb 15, 2020 i purchased a 2015 kia soul from a used car dealer in az. in less than 24 hours, the vehicle stopped working, and after it was towed and inspected by the dealership, i was advised that the engine was going to need to be replaced.

We bought this on 2016 for my daughter at that the car had 20 something thousand miles the car was working great we were doing the oil changes every 2500 miles .everything was ok until the car got 70000 miles is when the problems started in one time we did the oil change, alright everything was ok one week and half past and my daughter told that her car was doing some weirds noises on the engine so i went outside to check the engine oil level and got surprised because the engine was almost empty i had to add about 21/2 quarts of oil what happened after that is that i was checking the oil level every week finding out that i had to add almost 2 quarts every week and i thought this can’t be happening on a car with 70000 miles so did start investigating online ,i found out the this car have a engine problems same thing happening to me but i’m not sure if the existing recall is also related with my problem because the one said something related with catalytic converter that could get overheated and could damage pistons in the engine the recall number is 19v120 .ok with that information i went to the kia dealership i told them about the recall and they said that they don’t have the recall in the system so they can’t do nothing about it so i have to wait for the kia notice . the problem is that my car already started to loss power i found out the catalytic converter is clogged and cylinder number 3 misfires . checking on you tube i found out the kia engineers made a mistake with the pistons they did install short head pistons in the engine and somehow that causing the problems in the engine (don’t know what to do )(the man with 2015 kia soul now with 82000 miles ) you guys can find more complaints like mine in car complaints.com

105800 miles on the engine. serviced regularly. driving on an interstate at speeds around 60 mph. heard a loud knocking sound happened. ended up throwing a piston through the oil pan at speeds. no accident.

Car has been fine and normal, but the other day i was driving, and while accelerating after being stopped at a traffic light, i noticed the car suddenly seemed to lack power. it got up to about 45 mph, but then started knocking - lightly at first, then really loudly. the oil light flickered on and off during this time. i immediately pulled off the road and had the car towed to the kia dealership where i purchased it (palm springs kia). they told me the engine needs to be replaced! mileage is 70,612 originally, this car was under warranty up to 100,000 miles, but since i'm the 2nd owner, i was told warranty expired at 60,000. why is that? now i see this seems to be a frequent problem with the 2015 kia soul and a recall seems to be in order!

High exhaust temperatures with in the catalytic converter may cause internal engine damage to the pistons and connecting rods which will cause engine failure. the recall said that it would be free of charge if the consumer had this failure and we did. this happen in williamson county on i40.

I was driving down the road and as i was turning a corner the engine stopped. and would not start. it was towed home. when i tried to start it it turned over it and strtex. it soundex like metal bearings or metal hitting metal. tue whole motor is shaking. when i purchazed the vehicle i started noticing spots in my drive way but wasnt oil. when i looked under i noticed the cadallac converter had residue spots.. i have not taking it to rhe shop yet.

Vehicle was purchased brand new in july of 2015 and had approximately 124,000 miles. all regular maintenance including oil changes were done at kia service centers , next service wasn’t due for another 2,000-3,000 miles. engine began making loud ticking and knocking noises on 25 jan 2020 and started having trouble accelerating and reaching higher rpms. i left it parked over the weekend until i could get it looked at by my local kia dealer. when i started it 2 days later for the appointment the oil light instantly came on and the engine noise was much worse. checked the oil reservoir and the dipstick was completely dry. there were no visible oil leaks or any indication that it was burning through oil. vehicle was towed to my local kia service center and after inspection determined the engine needed replacing due to damaged cylinders and presence of metal shavings and debris. the dealership said replacement engine is covered under their 20 year/200,000 mile powertrain warranty. no current eta on the repairs and i’m currently without a vehicle until the work on the engine is completed.

Seventeen year old daughter driving home from school in 2015 kia soul, wednesday, 29 january 2020. midway going up a steep hill on a major busy highway, the car engine stopped which left her in the right hand lane of a four lane highway. highway 64, fayetteville, tn, lincoln county. this highway is a major route for large tractor trailers. daughter turned on emergency flasher and exited the car for safety. several people came by and helped push the car to the side of the road. this part of the highway has a small shoulder with guardrails due to the step drop off. internet research describes other kia vehicles with the exact engine failure symptoms that resulted in numerous recalls. this vehicle's vin did not indicate a recall. mileage is approximately 71,000. currently unable to get the actual odometer reading due to the electrical system is dead. can provide the actual mileage when i can get the electrical system powered.

On january 26 around 9pm the engine oil light came on. the vehicle was pulled over immediately. the next morning 2 quarts of oil were added and the knocking stopped for about 5 minutes and then it started again followed shortly thereafter with severe shacking of the entire car. the car was towed to a repair shop where the engine is being replaced.

I was already planning on getting my oil changed on the first of february, even though i still had a few hundred miles left. but the day before, my oil light kept flashing on and off. mostly when it was idling. i checked my oil levels mid day during lunch, and all seemed okay. well i was driving 3 miles from my house to church friday night, january 31, and as i was driving, just getting up to about 50-55 mph, i heard a loud bang and felt my car jolt. made it safely to the side of the road and called a tow truck. after the jolt, my battery light came on. never saw a check engine light. the tow truck driver was not able to start the car and told me that my oil was low. the following day when my dealership checked through everything, they told me that my engine had seized and i need to get a new engine. this seems to be a reoccurring problem with this car year and model. i have a little under 110,000 miles.

While driving oil light would flicker ever so often. when this would happen we would stop and check the oil level, it was always full. i took car to store about 4 blocks from house and on the way back light flickered but before i could do anything about it the engine started knocking.

In starting the car, i have had a dozen incidents where the ignition is frozen and i can not turn the key. i try wiggling the steering wheel, wiggling the gears, removing the key, waiting, etc. on several occasions it has been 5 minutes before i was finally able to turn the ignition on.

My kia is burning oil and started this hesitation feeling !! my car smells burnt inside and out of the car

It has been troubled for couple of years. main issue is when i start engine rpm hit over 3,000 and engine check light on. very first time bring the car dealer ship, they just reset ecu but same symptom over again dealer ship changed ecu. during a year it was okay but recently same problem come up again

Car would not start when start button depressed. lights on dash and radio come on but car will not start by pushing on button either with finger or smart key. in the past, the car has eventually started but not today. dealership has checked car twice with no correctve action even suggested. they say the have no idea for repairs because car always starts at the shop. they suggest having the car towed to the shop when failure occurs and hope the car will not start when it gets to shop. the battery is new. car was at the dealership for routine maintainence tuesday, it is thursday and the car will not start after many attempts. on two occasions i sat the smart key in the cup holder after a failed attempt and the car started without me pushing the start button or having my foot on the brake pedal. it seems there are several postings about this issue on the internet with no resolution forthcoming. it is quite frustrating!

My 2015 kia soul base mt is having trouble starting the key won’t turn over the ignition. or the ignition will turn and get stuck to where you can just pull the key out

Piston slapping. engine is shutting off while driving and while on a hill it it worse. it chokes stops running and refuses to start. the oil is escaping out of the engine due to the high hard piston slapping which is making a god awful noise! the car is unsafe. it smells like fire. i see the recalls of the 1.6 engine but this 2.0 is doing the exact same thing.

While getting ready for a 160 miles trip, a friend of mine check the engine oil and for our surprise it was off stick..no oil but the light on the dashboard never got on as a warning. i took it to walmart and yes, they made the oil change with the note on papers that it had little oil only...why this happened on a kia soul 2015 with almost 50,000 miles?..i don't understand and what might happened if i were going into the 160 miles trip without oil?..very risky..i think

Purchased vehicle 4/22/2019 from jim ellis volkswagen kennesaw. approximately 5 weeks later got in car started to drive out onto i- 515, light came on, i stopped car immediately, oil was all over back of car, top of car, underneath car, all over under the hood i immediately stopped. called jim ellis spoke to service manager said to get it to jim ellis kia (next door), so i towed to kia. said i had a faulty oil filter. they cleaned the vehicle & sent me off.....a couple weeks later still finding oil under the hood & had loss some oil. on may 18,2019 engine light came on while driving. i pulled over into auto store. i checked oil again & no oil (towed again) then i was going out of town for weekend, jim ellis kia , david service manager, said go ahead and drive it out of town. i told him at this point i felt unsafe driving this vehicle. he assured me it was safe. they had told me to check oil every other gas fillup and top oil off, said today some vehicles you just need to top oil off....while out of town as i stopped off interstate & got gas i opened hood to check oil level like jason had instructed. but as i opened hood i saw the oil dip stick zip tied to the other parts of engine. i immediately contacted matthew (volkswagen) & david (kia) sent them photos via text. they informed me that kia was doing a compression test. not to touch it, to call them & set appointment when we got back. went in and oil was very low they said. after numerous phone, & text, emails, visits & towing, after compression test kia determined it was a problem with engine, it needed replaced. then no one wanted to fix it even the warranty i had purchased a time car was purchased. i've had their rental now for over 2 months. the warrenty co. said kia said it was a lubrication problem. finally they are now saying it will be fixed.covered..

When driving down the road on a city street going approximately 50 mph, my vehicle began to make knocking noises and the seized after i pulled over to the side of the road. when i got out to check the oil it had all leaked out onto the road causing my oil tank to be dry. the car now will not start and kia has refused to fix it and says i am out of warranty, because i am not the first owner of the car even though i was offered the warranty when i purchased the car.

My car stalled down lost pressure and would not go i took it called the dealership and told them what was going on my kia soul 2015 the dealership the dealership said it was no recall on my car motor i had it checked out and i call the 1-800 number to see about my call or back on my car the lady told me to get the car towed to the dealership in fayetteville kia i did i paid $120 to get it towed in mike dillard called me told me there was no call back on my motor that i was going to have to replace my motor that motor was going to cost me $10,000 to get it done or get a refurbished one i've been called kia manufacturer and talk with the claims adjuster i have a claim already in progress and the lady told me to go ahead and have it towed to them but they're sending me they will not replace my motor i need help with this because something's going, because i'm looking on the website and it's stating that it is a recall on my motor but mine does not have my vin number does it show up on the recall i need to know what i need to do with my motor my kia soul thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).” *pm

My check engine light came on and it was diagnosed to be an issue with the catalytic converter. there is a recall for my year and make of kia (reference number sc176) and i would like assistance to repair it.

I was driving my car late at night heading home from a concert when smoke started coming from the hood. i was only going about 25mph and approaching a stop sign. i immediately stopped the vehicle and no sooner than. i could get my door open, it burst into flames. i had only been driving the car about 5 minutes when this happened.

On the evening of july 22,2019 i was leaving targets parking lot put my vehicle in reverse and when i put in drive my 2015 kia soul took off. the rpms were the highest it could go going 40 miles p hour in a busy lot all i could was honk my horn. i tried the breaks putting in park and turning the key off. my wife and i were in shock. we hit the curb fly across 3 lanes of traffic the median and hit two cars. my wife was pinned there was white smoke in the cabin. people got her out fire dept came. my wife was transported to uci trama and i went back the next day to concerned for my wife rather than myself. wife had 8 broken ribs separated and a broken back myself 7 broken ribs and bleeding of the brain. one hour prior approx to this accident we were next store eating and when leaving to go to target the engine started making a loud clicking noise i tuned it off and waited a few mins tried again and still the same noise. then the 3rd time it was fine proceeded to target. all maintenance has been done and on time prior to this terrible accident. our lives have change dramatically

The vehicle only has 85k miles on it and it's been maintained very well but it uses around 1.5 to 2 quarts of oil between oil changes.

Driving on the highway, the engine started ticking and within seconds without any warning lights on the dashboard, the car lost all its engine. had to pull off the highway and be towed to local dealership. upon arrival to the dealership, car was inspected by a technician who started my car in the parking lot, was surprised 1. it started 2. no check engine light and/or oil pressure light was on the dashboard display. car has been well maintained with regular full synthetic oil changes - have proof of regular maintenance.

On the freeway car engine made popping/banging noises followed by the whole dashboard lighting up and car completely shut off. put car in neutral and coasted to an emergency pull off as there was no shoulder on the long bridge i was on. cars swerved around me honking horns despite my hazards flashing. tried restarting and it just made grinding noise and smoke. i had it towed to kia dealership where they said engine needed replaced. it only had 40,000 miles on it. they covered replacing the engine under warranty. the dealer tells me replacement engine has 12k/12mo warranty but if i am over that and as long as i got oil changes thru the dealership that it would still more then likely be covered under warranty because kia knows about the issues surrounding their engines. after they told me that i feel as the vehicle is very unsafe and might fail on the freeway again.

My kia is burning alot of oil !! always smells like its burning even after oil changes and oil filters and my dip stick is burnt i have had to put oil in and no sooner its brown but not leaking on the ground but the exhaust pipe is coated

While driving on a side street the oil light started to flicker intermittently then remained blank not lighting up again. very shortly thereafter, within a tenth of a mile, the engine sputtered, could here clicking from engine, vehicle then stalled. i drifted to the side of the road, opened the hood and checked the oil and noticed no oil registering on the dip stick. there was no visible oil showing on the outside of the engine or underneath the vehicle. the oil was changed at jiffy lube, store #2375, on emerson ave., indianapolis, in. mileage at oil change was 100,973 performed on july 27, 2019 (see attached). next oil change due at 105,973. oil used was penzoil semi-synthetic 5w20. mileage on vehicle at time of breakdown 105,490. had vehicle towed to beck's auto service, indianapolis, in. was told something broke loose in the engine and that engine had to be replaced. vehicle is now sitting as i still owe $5,000.00 on it and do not have the $6,200.00 they told me it would cost for repairs.*dt license plate xx-xxxxxxxx “parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).”*jb

During the time of purchase, around november of 2018, for the vehicle at a kia dealership, i informed the seller to check for any recalls that will need to be addressed before purchase. however, the seller mentioned to be that recalls were checked, and i didn't bother to get a written statement from the seller because i guess i was too anxious to drive the car. i was informed via outside sources and google of a recall for this vehicle, relating to the catalyst system. having no check engine light and in may of 2019, i decided to take my vehicle to the kia dealer to have the recall addressed (see invoice statement attached). the dealer completed the recall and returned my vehicle to me. i drove the vehicle for many miles as an uber driver partner, after the completed recall. in october of 2019, the vehicle's check engine light illuminated while driving. i immediately took it to an auto parts store to scan the code. the scan data displayed the code p0420, catalyst system operating below minimum threshold bank 1. the current milage is 93, 700, and is running fine. i am concerned about the code in proportion to the recall that is in bulletin. i don't want to take it to the dealer without first checking my options with the nhtsa. please advise, i appreciate your business. thank you.

Car won't start when cold. it happened when it has been sitting for longer periods of time over 3 or 4 hours. can be jumped to start ,and if i charge it over night it will start 2 or 3 times but will then not start. when trying to start it makes a series of clicks and the instrument cluster will flicker. it began the winter of 2018 and was fine all spring, summer and fall. now that it's getting colder again it is back to not wanting to start

My 2015 kia soul is now sitting at a shop, due to the fact that without any warning as i was traveling down the highway it decided to slow down and shake then stall managed to get it started and get off the highway to a store, checked the oil there wasn't any in the engine even though 2 days before i had just had it changed. that was on august 7 2019 after doing some research it seems that kia has let alot of people down by selling defective cars and for me i am still stuck with payments with no way to even save for a replacement engine as i have been told it needs. i hope that they come to their sense and do the right thing.

My headlights have starting to flicker off while driving at night (on highway, street, turning, etc). i am able to get them back on by turning the switch back and forth several times. the car dealership replaced the headlight bulbs, but problem still remains. though there is a known issue with the kia soul headlights (and kia has extended the warranty to include the headlights for some and has a service bulletin out for it), kia refuses to cover my particular vehicle, though 2015 is one of the years covered (i can only assume there is something different).

The car computer is not registering the correct gear the car is placed into, thus causing the car to bypass critical safety features. the car’s power train, electric systems, and fuel systems fail intermittently as a result of failing neutral safety inhibitor. the car reads that the gear is in drive instead of park and will not turn over. thousands of other kia customers are reporting the same issues since 2010 with no resolution. dealership service centers have not been able to help the customers because the diagnostic tools do not pick up on this signal failure. the send car owners away saying the vehicle is in great condition only for the car to stall on the highway unexpectedly a few days later. this is dangerous and the customers have been given no option but to drive a vehicle with serious safety issues. just check out the numerous youtube videos of customers all having the same issues across multiple kia models starting in 2010.

I was driving home and car was making a noise.sounded like a truck.i check the oil and it was very low and dark.it had recently got an oil change.i put in 3 quarts and then it was at the right level.it stopped making the noise.but i smell gas from the tailpipe.this was before it sounded like a truck.i stepped on thee gas and the car barely moves.then the check engine light showed up it was misfire codes multiple cylinder.i hear a loud hissing sound like a turbo or some sort of exhaust leak.bad mileage burns a quart of oil every two days.the transmission does not shift too and it misfires

2015 kia soul 2.0 l engine. engine failure at 83,000 miles. driving home from work the engine started ticking, within 1 mile it started knocking. i went to pull over in a safe spot off of the road. before i could pull off the road the engine stalled. i put the vehicle in neutral and coasted off of the road. it would not restart as the engine was seized. the vehicle was towed to a kia dealership in longview texas - peltier kia. the vehicle has been well maintained with all service and oil changes performed at manufacturer specified intervals.

I bought my 2015 kia soul + brand new. i did all my own service work and kept up with maintenance as required. at around 100k the motor started using about 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles. at 122k, while driving at 40mph on a highway the engine became very loud and and as i decelerated, the oil light flickered on. i shut it off and called a tow truck. the oil level was less than a quart low at that point. we checked codes and they were cam and crank sensors out of alignment. we pulled the valve cover and found a very loose chain. to be safe we also pulled the head. number 3 cylinder piston was loose. the rod bearing was destroyed (melted right to the crank), all other bearing looked very good, with little wear. called kia and was told it was out of warranty. spent over $3,000 for a new short block with no help from kia.

Driving on a city street at about 35 mph, the engine began rapping with no oil light warning. stopped the car, the oil light finally went on, no oil was leaking, but checking the oil level revealed there was no oil in the engine. the engine is a total loss.

The headlights flickered on and off repeatedly and then remained off. this happened several times, initially while the vehicle was moving and then parked. this occurred in an apartment parking lot.

2015 kia soul with 2.0 nu motor. got a call back from dealership and 1 1/4 quart is normal consumption according to kia. filed a complaint with bbb and the reply was the typical from what i have seen. they will be happy to talk too me. it’s the typical runaround and i feel they are waiting for nhtsa to give findings of investigation before they do anything. fast forward. my wife and i purchased a 2019 kia optima ex. only with the help of this website fine out there is now an investigation into the airbags which was intimidated before the purchase of the vehicle. the dealership should let the owner know of the investigation and let the consumer decide after that. at this point i will never purchase another vehicle from kia. they have deceptive business practices and warranty. this incident happened in late july or first part of august.

Went to kia dealership for oil consumption test on 2015 kia soul. vehicle has used 1 1/4 of oil in about 3500 miles. first time the kia tech said to check pcv valve which was fine. at third time with 3/4 consumption kia didn’t say to check anything else. asked what was going to be done because the motor will not fix itself on 8/1/19. as of today called the dealership and no answer, kia is not honoring there alleged 10 year 100,000 warranty. i feel they have told there dealerships not to do any motor warranty work until investigation is done leaving consumer in limbo.

I have always taken excellent service care of my kia soul, now it has about 72k miles on it. i was driving and heard some knocking noises, a whooshing sound, and the engine warning light came on. i pulled over and checked the oil, and it was about 2.5 quarts low with no apparent leaks. i had the car towed to our independent mechanic. he inspected the car for repair needs and service estimate. found the vehicle had dropped a valve, had a broken piston, and a rod bearing was sprung on the crankshaft. he is going to try to repair, but stated if he couldn't repair then we would need a new engine. he stated he had checked with kia, and they were no longer making engines for this particular year/model, so we'd have to find a used motor. of course, i'm upset because there does not seem to be any cause as to this failure. i did some online searching and found recall sc176 which stated that the engines involved with this recall may experience internal damage to the pistons and connecting rods due to a concern with exhaust temperatures. if so, that would explain the oil loss/burn. however, my car vin is not being included in this recall. again, i'm very unhappy because, until this happened, i've not had any problems with the car. if i had driven the car any more, it could have caught on fire or stalled out, or both, and i could have been in an accident. would someone please look in to this? i think the recall sc176 needs to be expanded to include 2015 kia soul + with this engine. thanks in advance for getting back in touch with me.

Kia not honoring all the recall for 2015 soul- kia service department stated my catalytic converter needed work last year. when i took my car to the same service department that has worked on my car for years for the recall (uploading my receipt), my car would only go up about 1 to 2 mph, and now they are stating nothing’s wrong with the catalytic converter. my vehicle towed to a second kia service department, and they never checked the catalytic converter saying it’s the fuel injection, not the catalytic converter. also, they gave an estimated 600 to 900 dollars to fix it. i had the catalytic converter pulled by a licensed mechanic shop, and that stated it is the catalytic converter and the part alone is 1100 dollars. i’m uploading a picture of the catalytic converter pulled off my car it has gray looking dust and is clogged. i need my car; do i pay for this shop and fight for my money back? i still owe 15,000 dollars on this car.

On the 4th of july i was traveling on the highway and my car started to slow down a little bit didn't think anything of it pushed down on the gas to pick speed back up, got off of my exit, i came to a full stop went to go and my oil light was flashing the engine had a horrible ticking noise. i pulled into the parking lot checked my oil, i had none. i then got a ride to the store we filled the oil back up turned on the car and the engine noise was even louder i then quickly turned it off. i left the car in the parking lot over night got it towed to kia of dartmouth where they told me i had no damage or leaks but i needed a new engine $6,000 to re-place since i am second owner the warranty runs out at 60,000 miles and i am at 69,295 they won't pay for it. tired to get me into a new car but they couldn't since i don't have 6,000 for a new engine and i owe $7,000 on the car. i had the car towed to a safe place where i now still have to pay the loan and insurance for it to sit. i have been in contact with kia consumer they told me they would give me an answer by tuesday 7/16 no one called. i called today 7/17 the women i spoke with said she tried to find the rep i spoke with before but couldn't she would send him an email to call me which he did and all he said was the towing company wouldn't give him any information i told him i used at&t roadside if that helps he said yes hung up on me and hasn't called back. i have kept up with all my oil changes and routine maintenance at quirk kia in braintree, have all my receipts to prove it. i even had an oil change and sticker scheduled for 7/11.

Went to get an oil change and was told to see a mechanic because car should not have lost as much oil as it had in a short amount of time. about a week later, engine began to sputter, and engine light came on at a stop light, car stopped and would not start again. had it towed to a mechanic who said that the engine was blown, nothing else wrong with car.

When driving at night time the lights have been shutting off from 5 all the way up to 30 seconds and then coming back on. while driving down any given road

The housing unit for the left headlight melted causing the headlight not to function. the light is not burnt out. the light in the housing is the original factory light. the kia dealership will not recognize this as equipment malfunction. th dealership stated there has only been a recall on the sorento model for that problem.

2015 kia soul burning oil, no oil light comes on, vehicle has shut engine off 2 different times while i was driving it. i took to dealership they said they were having trouble with the piston rings failing and oil burning. did oil consumption test after driving for 900 miles the the dip stick did not register any oil on it. i bought this as a pre owned certified vehicle with about 600 miles on it when i purchased it . the warranty company that warrants kia pre owned vehicles is refusing to cover the the claim. the oil burning problem started around 56,000 miles. the car stopped running while i was driving on two different occasions.

With approximately 78,200 miles on the engine i was out and about running normal errands when it completely stalled out on me. didn't take a jump so had it towed to my mechanic. following morning it's started on its own but the damage could be heard. no previous noises coming from the engine, oil changes up to date and relatively on time. out of warranty (2nd owner); excluded from recall even though problem is the exact same as what was listed. kia only offered $1000 off repairs

Stopped to get food and oil light began flickering when we were parked, we checked the oil and it had plenty. driving to the highway the oil light didn’t flicker. got onto highway and we were going about 65 mph the engine suddenly started making a loud banging noise. a few minutes after the check engine light and the oil light came on. i slowed down to pull off the freeway to figure out what was happening. my husband asked me what the car was doing, and i told him i don't know. he told me to go to the next exit to get to a safer area. i was really scared, panicked and shaking because i didn't know what was going to happen. we luckily were able to get to a safer area; we parked the car and opened the hood and it was still making a loud banging sound in the engine. during everything i was able to plug my cellphone into the usb port to use the uvo app for my vehicle. i received two codes on possible condition with the engine control system. we contacted kia for towing and turned the car off. when the tow truck driver arrived, he started the car to drive it onto the tow truck and it sounded the same. we had the car towed to our local kia dealership in oakwood, ga. because we know it should be under warranty. we were asked to provide them with oil change receipts and a few days later we were told we would have to pay to open the engine. if there was no sludge in the engine, then they would pay to open the engine and replace the engine. it has now been over 30 days since we towed it there and we haven't heard anything further. this car is a 2015 kia soul 2.0l with only 65939 miles. after, i researched this issue extensively it’s very concerning, and i don't understand why kia refuses to recall or handle this model and engine. furthermore, their response regarding this matter has not been a good-faith effort nor a genuine approach to take care of their customers concerns.

Without any warning, no warning lights etc. our 2015 kia soul engine started shaking violently while we were driving. we accelerated up a hill and it just started shaking loudly. we towed it to the dealership over a month ago. they said it looked like it ran out of oil and that we needed a new engine. this makes no sense to us because we love that car, it is our only mode of transportation and we take very good care of it and keep up with maintenance. it has 114,000 miles on it and we have never had a problem. the dealership still has our car for over a month saying they are waiting on a back ordered gasket. i just find it odd that a well maintained vehicle just suddenly loses oil and the engine breaks. the incident happened on a paved county road within city limits, speed was 45 mph

I currently am on my fourth catalytic converter. my car has 240000 miles and my dealer informed me they were to only update a program and replace the converter. i let them know about the engine noise and they replaced the converter and it was making the same noise at 80000 miles when they replaced it the first time.even after i left the dealer at the first replacement i had to return the next day after picking my car up from morgan auto group. this recall has permanently damaged my car i was lead to believe i just needed the converter replaced again and again. finally when i received the recall letter i was convinced my car would finally be repaired properly. it was stated in the letter my engine would be replaced if need be. the dealer repeatedly explained they were to complete the system upgrade and replace the converter and nothing more. even after i had a diagnostic test done they could only tell me i had to replace my fuel injectors at a price of 1200.00 so i had them replaced and still my engine runs as described in the recall with damage to the pistons or another issue. i am hoping to have this issue resolved as i and my family rely on my vehicle.

I'm running my car, suddenly begins to slow down, until stops. it's the second time i sent my car withthe same problem to the kia dealer. right now is in the dealer since 5/16/2019. i did not even get a rental car.

Had oil change october 2018. december 2018 car stalled took to dealer 2.5 quarts of oil low without any visable leaks. the rod was thrown in vehicle. mechanics theory was the engine burn up the oil and blew rod. the engine is a 2.0 6 cyl engine. the same car with a 1.7 engine was recalled for the above problem.

I was driving my kia on back road about 40 to 45 mph and noticed a ticking sound. i pulled over to check oil, it was low but still in hash marks. i add about a half quart of oil. restarted and still tapping but not as loud. i drove car maybe 2 miles and noised turned into a load clacking noise. i wasn’t far from home and was trying to get home. i was slowing down for stop sign and car just cut off. brakes became hard to use and i could not steer. had car towed to house. i let it cool down and then checked all fluids, radiator and engine oil were fine. i was able to start car but it was still clacking. i had read on line if you let in idle clacking might go away, i did and it became less clacking, i drove it around the house , we have a driveway that goes around house. 3/4 of the way around it stalled again. i was unable to restart it. had towed to shop they are saying needs new motor. the only code on computer is cam position. i have notice that kia has had a lot of issues with other engine of same year but not the 2.0 which is the same motor with bigger pistons. i’m scared of what would have happened if i were doing 70 on a highway if this had happened. hard braking and steering.

My 2015 kia soul is misfiring and the engine light is flashing. i received a recall and took the vehicle to steve napleton kia of elgin. they supposedly performed an ecu upgrade and sent me on my way. my car didn't hardly make it out of the lot before shaking like crazy and ultimately stalling. i took it back in and they told me it was something i must have done to it because it was fine when i left. they now refuse to fix it unless i pay for it. literally at a loss for words..

When diving at night on the streets or on the freeway i have experienced my headlights and interior light flickering and then the turning off completely momentarily. this has happened on a very rural winding road where i feared for my life because i could see nothing for a few second when the lights came back on. i am now afraid to drive my car at night. this does not happen all of the time but it did happen last night when going over a railroad crossing, which is why i decided to file a complaint.

One day i heard a rattling noise while driving. the next day, the noise turned into a very loud ticking/knocking sound. i keep my oil changed every 3000 miles so it could not be that there was not any oil in the vehicle. i had it towed to the dealership as i was afraid to drive it because i had heard that the cars were catching on fire. i inquired about this and was told there were not any open recalls on engine damage with kia souls and a diagnostic would be performed. a few days later i was informed that the engine was gone and advised $6800 to repair. the funny thing is i have been asked repeatedly, how would the engine go out in a 4 year old car? i was also advised that there was no warranty remaining on the car from the manufacturer as i was the second owner of the vehicle and the warranty ended at 60,000 miles. ironically, my engine failed at 68,729. now, i'm stuck with a car that doesn't run and owe almost $10000 on it. i am beyond heated with anger. i can't trade it due to the negative equity and it costs more to repair it than what the car is actually valued at.

My car is very sluggish when i press the gas pedal it feels like my engine does not want to go, and when i'm idling i feel as if my engine will stall unless i press the gas, i have contacted kia regarding this problem and the associate i spoke with said that my vehicle has been recalled under the sc176 campaign ( this was in february 2019) it is now april 14th, and according to kia my car is not officially recalled as of yet.. basically i feel i'm driving around in a ticking time bomb. . and according to the recall i am, the recall is due to a possible engine failure and fire .. my 2015 kia soul only has 22,500 miles on it ... i feel kia is ( no pun intended ) stalling regarding this highly dangerous safety recall.

I had driven about 35 miles, stopped the vehicle for a few minutes, then re-started it. it immediatley began making a loud "clanking" noise from the engine. i had checked the oil the night before and added a quart. i immediately noticed a lack of power and the oil light came on briefly, and then flickered off. i made my way to the nearest gas station where i again checked the oil and found it to still be at the appropriate level. my route home required a 30 mile interstate drive that seemed would be impossible to make. i had it towed to a dealer and was informed it would require a new engine. the vehicle has only 69,000 miles and has regularly scheduled oil changes. when asked what could have caused the issue, the dealer service advisor stated that it is usually due to a lack of lubricant, but he didn't see any sign of that or sludge build up.

Takata recall: 2015 kia soul 2.0 engine seized, i was driving at freeway speeds on an inclined when vehicle dropped in speed from 60 mph to completely shut down while on a busy highway, (while on incline you could hear a loud clink clink clink coming from under hood of vehicle). vehicle was partially blocking slow lane and emergency lanes. no check engine lights came on when vehicle shut down.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 kia soul. while driving 50 mph on the highway, the vehicle failed to accelerate and stalled. in addition, the oil and check engine warning indicators illuminated. the contact activated the hazard lights and was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. the contact powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was able to be driven slowly to the contact's residence. the vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but a failure could not be found; however, a tune-up and oil change were completed. after the contact left the mechanic, the vehicle stalled and was towed to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the battery failed. the battery was replaced, but then the contact was informed that the battery was not the source of the failure. the mechanic test drove the vehicle and infomed the contact that the catalytic convertor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was later towed to kia of east hartford (located at 99 ash st, east hartford, ct 06108, (860) 291-7000) where it was confirmed that the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 149,000.

My 2015 kia soul 2.0 was about 5,000 miles past the oil change date but was regularly topped off with oil. on my way home from work, my vehicles engine started thumping. no warning lights came on so i wasn't too worried. then, as i pull up to a stop light, the oil pressure light came on for a brief second then went away. panicked, i tried to make it to a nearby gas station but my oil light came back on and the car had begun to seize. i pull over and call a tow to take my car to my house. the day prior to this, i had checked my oil and it was at normal level. after the engine had siezed, there was no oil on the engine whatsoever. now i'm stuck making payments on a once nice car that i now cannot drive untill i can come up with 6,000 dollars to replace it.

My family and i were driving down the road when the car began making noises and died. my husband was able to guide the car to a stop but we were unable to get out of the lane and onto a shoulder. after three hours, the car was towed to the dealership. the following day, we were told that the rod bearings locked and we needed a new engine. we were told that there was still oil in the car and no metal shavings in the oil pan so it was not the result of poor maintenance. the car had been in for an oil change and maintenance check on april 3, 2019 at the same dealership. the service department said they have seen this before in kias and that it seems to be a common issue. the car has 80k miles on it.

2.0 engine connecting rod went bad. when excelaraited car backfired loud screech sound from under hood and then knockin from engine from connecting rod. was in motion when this happened.

On june 1st, my so was driving from our home to st.johns, mi 5 miles into the trip the oil light blinked twice and then the car started slowing down to 20mph. he pulled over and we called my husband and he looked at it and said it looked like it had a blown piston. we had it towed to his shop until we could have it towed to kia. over that weekend i researched the recall and even though the recall was not for our motor ( which our motor is a 2.0) it did the same thing as the other ones. i also read the other complaints and there was three from our area and with the same motor as ours. so on the 3rd of june i called kia and had it towed. by the 5th they said a new motor was being shipped and it was covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. kia of lansing set me up with a rental car and played for it until july 6th, 2019. we received a a call today june 20th saying that kia motors was not paying for the motor cause i'm the second owner of the vehicle. i told the service manager that i haven't even owned it 7 months. he said it would be $6200 to put a new motor in. i told now why would i spend $6200 on a motor when i still owe $12,000 on it and its only worth $6500. the service manager and technician told me to file this complaint cause they know these cars are junk. the service manager also said that the motor doing what it did was not our fault he could see we had kept up on the maintenance.

I was leaving work and noticed a loud ticking sound and stopped accelerating . i pulled over about a block away from work into a parking lot and called for a ride. my car was out of warranty so i had it towed to a mechanic who told me the engine was blown. it was fine with no sound while driving to work 9 hours before. the engine was running super hot and i never got any indication of a problem other then that loud ticking when i pulled over. of course kia won’t do anything because my engine is a 2.0 when only the 1.6 was on the recall. but after my research i’ve seen many people with the same thing happening to them with the 2.0 as well! now i have to take out a loan for 4000 dollars to have my engine replaced with a used one because i’m still paying on my car!

June 18, 2019-driving on highway, started to pass a slow moving vehicle, pressed accelerator and it would not go faster at first, then it did go a little faster. i moved back into driving lane and proceeded but i slowed down to 55 mph (posted speed limit 70) . kept losing speed, put on emergency flashers, as i was exiting off highway to safe spot smoke started billowing from behind vehicle. stopped car, as good was opened a small fire turned larger. i grabbed my fire extinguisher from back storage compartment and extinguished fire. tow truck driver arrived, needing to make sure it could be towed without a possible reignition of fire, he removed the cover and asked me to attempt to put vehicle in neutral to be able to push it back to a position to be able to get it on tow truck. push button start, two push for accessory position. tow truck driver witnessed fuel squirting from a fuel line near the fuel regulator. tow truck driver could actually insert his pen top into the size hole that is there. vehicle towed to car dealership where we purchase it new. i am still waiting to hear if the dealership was able to get it in the shop this week, if not they said it would be monday june 24, 2019. pictures attached. no invoices yet except the tow invoice which i need to submit to my insurance company for reimbursement. in researching any unknown recalls on this vehicle, i found this information today and attached my screenshot.

My friends 2015 kia soul caught fire while driving at highway speeds. we can see where there was a recall for a faulty fuel, i believe. strangely though her vin was not included in the recall. the fire started in the engine compartment and she was able to pull off onto the shoulder and get out before the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. somebody should be investigating why all of these vehicles are not being recalled.

While driving 25 mph on city street, without warning, car stalled. towed to local dealer to find out the engine had seized. bought used through a dealer in town with 102k miles on it, have had the car for about a month. excellent oil change history on carfax.

We just received our soul back for the latest kia recall service after being 1 week at the dealership, while driving the car engine shut off in the middle of the traffic almost causing accident and injury. called dealership rick case kia (sunrise fl) they asked us to tow the car in for diagnostic. received a call from dealership stating its a bad battery cell that caused the issue, had to spend $150 to get the battery replaced as per recommendation. after receiving the car back yesterday afternoon, the same thing happened in the night the engine just shut off while driving we had our grand kids in the car going to pickup our daughter from work. this time it was a very close call nearly got hit. called the dealership there response was get it towed in again and we will take a look. they mentioned the issue is got nothing to do with recent recall, but the issues have started post recall fix. this is a very serious safety concern as i work for florida department for children and family services and as job requirement have to drive foster kids around, majority highway driving something like this on highway would definitely cause an issue. car brand new battery is showing as drained again and dealership is just jerking us around instead of taking full responsibility and fixing the car.

The drivers side headlight has blown 3 bulbs when changing to last bulb it appears the connector has over heated and melted there is a recall on the connector but was told that it was not recalled for my vehicle per the vin number

While driving loose of power, followed by engine tapping. check oil very low (just had oil changed, and i double checked after service.) restarted and tapping turned into clacking engine shut off, not one warning light, unable to brake without pushing super hard and steering became hard too. had toed to house once cooled down was able to restart drove it maybe 800 feet and it died unable to start. had it towed to shop was told lower end of motor bad needs new motor. i have read a lot of complaints of similar nature on heat and on carcomplaints.com. why no recall this is dangerous. luckily i’m an experienced driver and not going to fast. would hate to see this happen to less experienced drive or at a higher speed on a curvy road.

2015 kia soul using about a quart of oil every 2000 miles. scheduled an appointment with local dealership in hagerstown, md. person on the phone said they would perform an oil consumption test. took it too the dealer and service advisor came out and showed me a sheet with $1300 worth of recommended service work.i asked if they changed the oil and he said they were waiting for kia to call them back. i also explained to the service rep that nhtsa had an open investigation on the 2.0 liter motor and he acted like he knew nothing about it. i said i didn’t want the vehicle to blow up and leave me stranded. the car has only 54000 miles on it. i hope nhtsa moves quickly on this investigation. i feel kia is dragging me and others along hoping they won’t have to do a recall as they did with the 1.6 and 2.4 motors. there is no way the service advisor did not know about the ongoing issues with these motors. i find it hard to believe kia has not sent internal bulletins to dealerships regarding this issue.

I have a 2015 kia soul 2.0l engine. i get all schedule maintenance done, including regular oil changes. i have noticed that oil burns extremely quickly out of the car as if it disappears. i had the conversation with a mechanic at the dealership and they told me it was because of the amount that i drive my car and that they didn't see any problems. i found myself putting oil in my car every 2 weeks or so because the oil would be low. i was getting my oil changed and the mechanic stated that my oil was burning hot and suggested i get my car to a full auto shop. i took the car to my local mechanic and they noticed the same thing but couldn't find anything wrong. a week or so later, i'm driving on a city street going about 45 in a 50. i pressed the gas to accelerate so that i could change lanes and my car immediately lost power and dropped down to 20mph. i immediately turned on my hazards and tried to change lanes. my engine began to jerk and then went back to normal speed. i took it back to the shop and was told it was intermittent misfires in cyl 2 and 3. i had the spark plugs changed, 2 and two coil packs done, but was still having the same issues. was also told the oil was low, though i had just had an oil change. i was then told that the uf sensor was out and i had a damaged catalyic converter and 2 exhaust gaskets. 2 weeks later i'm driving on a residential street going 25mph and i hear a loud squeal from under my hood. my oil light flashes and my engine stalls. i had just put oil in my car. i was told that my engine had locked but they could not figure out why.

Drove up a hill for a delivery. car stalled half way up the hill. tried to restart car, when doing so & put the gears into drive the car rolled back some. with this, the engine & battery lights came on. tried to restart the car three or four more times. on the last attempt, the car started rolling backwards. put the car in park & turned off the ignition but the car wasn’t stopping. in panic mode, didn’t try to apply the emergency brakes. ended up hitting another vehicle with the rear of my vehicle. on top of the damage done to the rear of my vehicle & the other person’s, the two passenger tires of my vehicle blew out.

Recall notice 19v120. case #13172862. 2015 kia soul. when i took my vehicle in for a recall repair may 8, 2019 it was already performing in negative way in alignment with problems listed on the recall notice, which includes knocking noise from engine, illuminated mil & oil escape. on my service ticket from dealership, it’s indicated there are engine issues, but no repairs were made other than a software update. i provided all maintenance records as requested (which covered the last 2 years) and was told by the kia service manager – that i provided substantial information worthy of qualifying for replacement parts at no additional cost. he said he would present my case to a kia rep for further evaluation. when in motion, my vehicle still makes horrible loud knocking noises and often stalls. but, currently, my vehicle is stationary & unsafe to drive due to the engine problem. i’ve had to find other means of transportation while my kia sits inoperable in my driveway! over the past 3 weeks, i have repeatedly contacted the kia consumer assistance center, case manager and even the local kia service manager to no avail. this is outside of what’s considered a reasonable amount of time!! no return calls or updates have been provided on my case number. i have been the one to reach out each time. during a phone call i made last friday, may 31 -- i was told by a customer service rep that the (un-named) district manager would give me 20% off my repairs!! i’m expecting these repairs to be done without charge because the problems are directly associated with this recall. kia wouldn’t provide the district manager’s name or any contact info. this situation has jeopardized my safety & continues to create many inconveniences! please help me to resolve quickly. this website has info: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a27053460/nhtsa-investigation-hyundai-kia-fires/

Need engine replaced. using at least 1qt of oil or more every few hundred miles. having to replace coil packs. smell burning periodically . have been told by lou saab kia that kia quit replacing engines a few months ago. that tells me they have a major problem with the engines. know others who are having to replace coil packs & are burning oil also.

The brake pad covering the brake pedal slid off. this may impact braking in sudden stop situations.

Right side head light will not always go on ( i do not know when it is going to work) , i have had it checked by mechanic also/ there is no specific time of when my light will work or not . this is not normal.

I was driving at a slow speed and i noticed a strange noise. i was going up a hill and experienced a loss of power and the noise got worse. i pulled over and saw the oil light flickering below 1500 rpm so i shut it down. i waited a few minutes and checked the oil. the oil was full. i had it towed to a shop to diagnose and they told me an internal engine component has failed and that i would need a new engine. i had it towed to a kia dealership to confirm. i received the same diagnosis. the car has 65k miles on it and requires a new engine. the car has been maintained and was not neglected. i reached out to kia for assistance and they are unwilling to assist. they have also discontinued the long block engine replacement so the repair costs more now. there seems to be a shortage of the 2.0l engine so it isn't available from rebuild shops or junkyards. i suspect that the high rate of failure of the 2.0l engine is to blame for the shortage.

Engine idles more rough then when we first bought it, our kia soul does now have 30,000 miles but it just seems to idle differently when we first start it in the morning when it is cold the way it starts though and is idling makes the car shake in away that it didn't when we first got it

8/31/18 my oil light started flickering, acceleration slowed down, almost chugging on interstate 65 north. a 35 minute drive took me a hour and a half because there is no other way to get home but the interstate. 9/1/18 i started the car, drove it a couple miles, going to the dealer, it started knocking, almost stalling, oil light flickering and then died in the middle of the road. had it towed to kia of rivergate. 9/5/18 they ask for all my oil change receipts, which i don't have because i get them where ever i have a coupon for.(i am currently trying to back track and get the records) mac, at the dealership) tells me there is "sludge" and this only happens when the maintenance was not done. there was never any problems with the car, when oil changes were done everything checked out every time, no indications about oil, no check engine light, nothing and then this happens without warning. help!!

This incident occurred on saturday, the 11th of august, 2018 at 12 noon. in motion on interstate i75 southbound. medium traffic, dry and clear conditions. i heard what sounded like a rock or other road debris hitting the bottom of the car. about 15 seconds later i started hearing a sort of tapping noise from the engine compartment. all the gauges showed normal. i pulled over thinking i may have picked up something under my car. i pulled to the shoulder and examined under the car and saw nothing. i started driving again and changed my destination to the kia dealer where i purchased my car. i noticed the noise increasing and it seemed as if the engine lost lost compression. i then turned on my flashers to alert the drivers behind me. about this time the lcd screen turned white and had the message that the system may have received an error message from the engine and noted that i should get to a kia dealer asap. the screen then went blank. i drove for about another half a mile and the engine light illuminated and the engine died. i was able to get to the shoulder and i notice "steam" coming from under the hood. upon opening the hood i saw the steam was smoke and flames were shooting from the top of the engine, from under the oil cap. i took a blanket from the back of my car to beat out the flames and it caught on fire. at that time i got away from the car and dialed 911. at that time a trucker had pulled over and came running back with a fire extinguisher and doused the flames. a fire truck arrived and wrote a report which i do not have. the car was towed to sons kia of mcdonough, ga.

My car is only 3 years old, 112,000 miles and my air conditioning compressor went out. the fix is over $800. i have owned 6 cars in my lifetime and have never had this happen, i’ve never even ran out of freon in my cars.

In motion at highway speeds going straight for about 5 minutes steering gets hard to make small corrections to the point over correcting becomes a problem. problem gets worse during rain / wet weather.

I was driving my 2015 kia soul on my normal route to work on 4/5/18. it was a dark, clear morning on a busy highway. i was moving with traffic at approximately 60 mph. at just about 5:30 a.m., the vehicle made a noise and lost acceleration. i was able to get to the side of the highway and park the vehicle. i was parked for approximately 3 minutes when i saw smoke and flames coming from the engine. i exited the vehicle. shortly thereafter, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. no other persons or vehicles were involved in this incident. i purchased the vehicle new and it had had no significant mechanical work in the 2 ½ years that i owned it, just normal oil changes and a couple of safety recalls. neither the firefighter on the scene, nor the insurance adjuster, were able to determine the cause of the fire, only that it started in the engine.

I have had the oil changed the first time at 3000 miles and they noticed the oil was leaking from the front of the engine. i call the dealer and made an appointment to have it fixed the dealer did change the oil pan gasket, then i drove it until the next oil change, same thing oil leak at front of the engine, so i called the dealer made an appointment, they changed the valve cover gasket. i have now 82500 miles on the car and just came from having car check at my local mechanic and still oil leak in front of the engine. looks like the warranty will run out with on repair to my vehicle!!!

I get this rocking/jerking/ feeling in the entire car while holding the brake and slowly inching forward or backward, as in going really, really slow. the feeling is worse than other times randomly while driving. for a fact it is absolutely worse when the car has been sitting overnight at home or at work all day

I was driving south bound on rte 295 in warwick ri traveling approx. 65 mph in a straight pattern when i heard a snap under my car. my car skid and my hydroplane light, oil light and engine light came on. i looked in my rear view mirror and saw sparks. i pulled over and at this time my car stalled. when i exited my vehicle there was a fire in the undercarriage of my engine. 911 was dispatched and my car was engulfed in flames in minutes and was a total lose. there was a recent recall in the pistons causing fire damage to the model, make and year of my car. i was not notified of the recall and it was never repaired. i believe the issue may have been in the pistons and catalytic converter; nhtsa campaign number: 19v120000; kia's number for this recall is sc176. i am a awaiting my accident report as the incident just happened

A couple of months ago the car said we have a problem with the engine and with the cooling system kia had check it out and said nothing was wrong but it keeps going on it has a gas smell low push to do 70 on highway won’t let me put on cruise control for long i can feel car ready to shake and stop needs oil all the time when i drive for 1 hr to work car starts to shake at a red light after i’m almost at work i changed battery on 3/10/19 i also changed the catalytic converters also brakes always have to change before there do on 3/15/19 have an appointment to change the flex on the car also because the oil was leaking on the engine it needed a seal and the top part i forgot what it’s called replaced that’s all i now for now

My car has starter problems. starter clicks and grinds. was completely dead the first time and was jump started. at the dealer, it was completely dead and couldn't be jump started. they have replaced the starter 3 times and tell me it's defective starters. i think it's an electrical issue and they can't find it. i have brought it in 6 times and problem still remains.

The rear of the car is always filling up with water where the spate tire sits. the cat isn't water tight. this has occurred on many occasions

While driving to work the car made a sound like a blown tire. i pulled over only to find that it was on fire under the hood. there was no warning, no sounds, no cues no warning lights. total loss by the time fire dpt got there, nothing but a frame.

Takata recall the engine knocks after 60k. it started like a fan hitting a piece of plastic, but after a week- especially when i run the heat or air, it gets extremely loud). now it's loud all of the time. i get my oil changed regularly and they couldn't even figure it out. my engine gets hot sometimes i was wondering if you get a lot of complaints about that. even though i got the overheating under control, the fan still blows several minutes after being parked like it's hot. takata recall

Had the transmission serviced after having vehicle in multiple times for the engine vibration on 8/18/2018. car continued to vibrate. took car to another dealership to have it looked at. the recommended fuel injection and oil change. i had this work performed in september 2018. drove vehicle and my oil light came on. pulled over and noticed car was extremely low on oil. added oil and drove to find a parts store to have put on a machine and never made it. car started hesitating and squealing and i pulled over and had it towed. service mechanic said no way should it be that low on oil after just having serviced a month ago and that oil was very black even after he added some indicating work the last dealership said they did had not been performed. now needs new motor and unsure where the oil that was in the vehicle went to. left me on side of road with children and no help yet from kia other than you need to figure out how to get it to a dealership per their consumer affairs person jacob! this was on highway 74 east right outside of sylva, nc

On 11/19/18 our 2015 kia soul was parked in driveway at approx 4:30 pm after arriving home from work, 4 hours later in evening while watching tv at approx 8:33pm we heard a loud pop outside, we both ran to front door to see the kia soul front end ingulfed in flames rising so high hitting roof of our garage. i called 911 while backing our other car out of driveway away from flames, while my husband tried to put out fire with extinguser and water hose. the firemen arrived and finished putting out fire but kia soul was totaled. kia dealership in sarasota fl has not offered any help or answers. we went online and see we are not the only ones that have experienced these kias bursting into flames...the manufacturer has to take responsibility! this is unacceptable! damage to our home was also done melting stucco, charing garage door and cement driveway where car burned. our home is only 1-1/2 years old!

The air and heat stopped working altogether. i took it to arapahoe kia in centennial, co. they told me the blower motor had failed. i had another shop look at it and they told me the wiring to the blower motor had completely melted. it looks like there was a short that lit the wires on fire. luckily, it did not ignite the whole car like some other cases.

My car started making a “bubbling” noise from under the hood when i accelerated. i took it to the kia dealership they connected it to the computer no codes thrown. told me nothings wrong. on wednesday 11/7/18 the bubbling noise was vety loud, then a check engine light came on. took it to kia dealership they didn’t have time to look at it. took it to autozone they connected it, it was throwing p0014. i told kia what code it was throwing they told me it was okay to keep driving it till friday when they could look at it. thursday 11/8/18 morning i drove 6.2 miles before the check engine light shut off and the loud knocking in the engine started. trailered soul into dealership they told me it dropped a valve but the head was fine. they said it was throwing the p0014 code with no check engine light on, but the ocv was working per kia mechanic.

Kia uses soy based coating/insulation on all their wiring & hoses, making it susceptible to being damaged by rodents. the windshield washer hose on mine was damaged due to rodents. after doing more research online other people have complained about more important components being damaged by rodents as well, and kia stating it was not covered under the manufactures warranty, and/or it wasn't their fault. my car was damaged by these rodents while sitting parked in the parking lot of my apartment building.

I have 2015 kia soul. the kia has 34,000 something miles on it. i was driving it, and when i make left and right turns in the kia it makes a loud popping sound in the steering column. i was driving home today from work and when i made a left turn it was loud popping sound again. i'm very scared that it's going to cause me to have steering problems and i have wreck loosing control of steering. i heard the popping sound week ago from today and it wasn't that bad, but week has gone by the sound is more there then it was before when your driving and turning left or right in the kia soul.

My kia soul electronic door locks operate in a random and dangerous fashion. i unlocked the car and put my puppy in the vehicle and closed the door not knowing that my keys were still in the car; all the doors immediately locked and i had to break the window to save the dog. other times one or two doors will lock. the delay in locking is random and unreliable. car was in parking lot. this system should be disabled until kia reviews operation of the system. there should be a consistent time delay before doors lock. this is a safety issue.

I was driving 35 mph on hwy us1, car in front of me rear ended the car in front of it. i placed foot on brake and didnt seem to be slowing quick enough. i then placed both feet on brake to stop and still hit the car involved in accident.

When approaching an intersection, the brakes failed on my wife's 2015 kia soul. she pressed the brake pedal several times, but they never pressurized. fortunately the airbags worked well, and she was not seriously injured in the accident. the driver and passenger in the other vehicle left in an ambulance. i tested the brakes once the vehicle was at the body shop, and they did not pressurize there either. the car is 9 months old, had roughly 9,000 miles on it, and has not had any mechanical work performed on it.

I was coming out of a red light intersection and when i tried turning to the left the car would not turn and kept going straight. it turned minimally and hit the curb scratching the 2 passenger side wheels (front and back). no airbags were deployed as i was only at maybe 20-30mph. as the car aligned with the road again i notice the steering is 90% impaired. i still manage to drive home as there were very few cars on the road but the car would randomly sometimes, very strongly veer to the right or left, making it extremely dangerous. i remember there was a recall letter i had received and when i got home i checked it out and it described exactly what had happened to me: "the pinion plug which secures the pinion gear to the steering gear assembly may loosen due to the use of adhesive with insufficient bonding strength during assembly. if the plug loosens sufficiently, the pinion gear may separate from the steering gear assembly which could cause loss of steering and result in a crash.". i think in my case this pinion came completely loose and that caused the crash. the car was just towed to a kia dealership but now they will inspect and decide if that was the case or not. what if they simply decide they will say this was caused to something else and not the recall issue?

Safety recall, (nhtsa recall number:15v736) i received a recall notice dated 12/8/15, and went to the dealer on 12/21. they didn't have the parts and/or tools to effect the repair. i have since called kia customer assistance once and the dealer two more times. i am to call back next wednesday, 1/27/16. it doesn't seem to me that kia is taking this safety recall very seriously. they don't seem in the least concerned.

Mechanically, technically the vehicle is fine. my problem is there is no spare tire, no even a donut. there is an inflator/tire repair kit but that does no good when one gets a hole in the side of the tire. kia does have 24 hour free tow to the dealership to rectify the situation, and i believe even motel accommodations in case this occurs on a road trip, but i feel it is still a safety hazard. for example late at night, maybe on the way to work at 4:30 in the morning. also the sales department(s) do not do a good job in explaining the lack of a spare. it's my understanding some other makes also have the same infiltrator kit to replace the spare. kia dealers do sell a kit for about 200.00, maybe 300.00, my solution is, kia should be required to provide these now at no costs to customers. i found about this the tough way on an out of town trip (between savannah, ga and beaufort, sc)...i am from the orangeburg, sc area, so was about 90 miles from home, on the saturday before christmas (12-19-15)...they did offer to tow me to the kia dealership in savannah, but it would be closed by the time we got there.

Car is equipped with eco-boost and active "intermittant stop and go" system, which is active every start cycle unless "deactivate" button is engaged.car has been driven by 18 year old daughter for 3,000 miles in 6 months. the engine has shut down and not been able to be restarted on 2 separate occasions.both times the isg system switch was depressed, the system was deactivated,and the car was stationary. the second time the car shut down was at a very busy intersection, my daughter is a new driver-she was hysterical. dealer claims there is nothing wrong with the car, they are saying it is operator error. i have told them that she always deactivates the isg every time she starts the car. she has seen the "deactive" light go out several times while driving the car. this is a very dangerous situation. we were not told by the dealer about the isg system when we purchased the car, if we had known about it, we would not have bought it.i feel there might be a software problem that is causing uncommanded shut down. dealer cannot find a problem with the car.i am an airline aircraft mechanic with 30 years experience on boeing jets, and have been working on cars for 40 years.

As two disabled persons who purchased our 2015 kia soul just four months ago, we want to know when the nhsta knew or first became aware of this problem to include when kia first became aware of this problem. kia corporate headquarters did not or would not tell me. i would have never purchased this car used specifically for our disabilities. i did not buy a lemon, i bought a car that would last. now our car will have second rate parts, i.e. adding a bolt. i wanted a car that was built the way a car should be built with no problems nor dangers. we are saddened beyond belief that we wasted all of the monies on that car. a defect, is a defect . we purchased a defective product. unknowingly. the consumer stated she was never informed there were possible steering issues with the vehicle. updated 02/22/16. *jb updated 09/22/16.*jb

Low/soft brake pedal, the brake pedal goes almost to the floor before brakes engage. this car was purchased new but the brake pedal has a great amount of "travel" in it before the brakes stop the car. dealer refuses to acknowledge there is a problem with the brakes or to make repairs.

Entered lease on 2015 kia soul exclaim on 2-9-15 when lease for 2012 kia soul exclaim was about to terminate. ever since purchase, when i come to a complete stop and am idling at a stoplight, the car will feel like it wants to go. i've taken the car into dealership at several different intervals, so mileage on car keeps growing. i have to put both feet on the brakes at times in order to keep car from trying to accelerate forward. i've gone to the dealership several times and they are not able to determine the cause. they have recent the computer to factory new settings, more than once. on 11-21-15, i took it to dealership again and they took all sort of readings and were on the phone with kia tech for suggestions. the one person who could read more about the findings was not going to be available until 11-24-15. i called this evening and the service advisor had talked their tech who had talked to kia tech and they still could not find anything. i continue to be concerned about being at a complete stop and potentially ramming into the car in front of me. i've tried turning the fan off or making sure the car has warmed up so that the fan doesn't have to run to see if that helps, but it still will do this.

First occurred at 134 miles on my 2015 kia soul...bouncy vibrating shaky ride could be felt under my feet like something bumping the bottom of the car and in the steering wheel like someone was tapping on it continuously. passengers front and rear can feel the vibrating shake. has been returned to dealer five times with this problem and has not yet been repaired. it is so bad it's uncomfortable to ride in and drive. two service techs have told me they feel it but don't know what it is. local dealer refused service after the fourth time saying they would not try to "fix" it again so kia corporation sent to another dealership. the second dealership feels it but they don't know what it is either. a field tech is being sent with a new machine to determine the problem. new tires and wheels have been put on the vehicle...they made a difference but it still has the vibrating shaky feeling. twice, when gas pedal is pressed, the car would not move...service techs don't know why. the car shudders many times when sitting at a red light or stop sign or parking lot...it will be running smoothly, then suddenly begin the shudder and shake. after a few minutes, it runs smoothly again. and no, it is not the ac compressor kicking in...the vibrating shaky ride occurs on all types of pavement and road surfaces. when turning the steering wheel to go around a curve, the wheel shakes as if the axles are bad. it has been doing this since purchased june 24, 2015, new, and now has 4,000 miles on it and is still doing its vibrating shaky thing. anybody else have these problems? this is the third 2015 kia soul we have owned! the other two are great! no problems...totally different from this one.

I purchased a 2015 kia soul on april 11, 2015 from paramount kia of asheville nc and only recently found out that it had an outstanding safety recall(#nhtca-15v123 or sc116) prior to my purchase. kia motors had notified its dealers on march 19, 2015 that they had been issued a repair procedure for this recall which was to be completed prior to sale of said vehicles. the letter states "it is illegal to sell a vehicle with an outstanding safety recall" but this dealer sold this to me anyway with regard for my safety. i believe that from the lack of concern i received from the dealer when i contacted them about it that this must be a common practice on their part.

I purchased a kia soul in 2012 (2013 car) and a month later was in intensive care for 5 days with mysterious symptoms. (i am a healthy woman and take no medications.) over the next 2 years i still had problems but they lessened. for the past 6 months, i have had no symptoms. last month i purchased a kia soul 2015 and in the following week i was back at the er, again, no diagnosis whatsoever. since then i have had similar symptoms. putting the dates together, i then researched kia soul for toxicity, and it is the top car for high toxic levels. is this not an important safety issue to be on your website? i am shocked that so little is known about this, but the sources i researched are most reliable. kia soul is a dangerous car.

Complete window visibility blocked by severe fogging within ten seconds at 60 miles per hour at night,my wife was driving and slammed on brakes and avoided a potentially severe crash,now if this happened to us someone must have been killed in a incident like this,the kia dealer had to replace the hvac temperature sensor the failure of this sensor is life threatening when driving this needs to be corrected with a unit that cannot fail my car mileage was only 3,200 miles and this happened,( how many deaths have happened because of this needs to be investigated !!!!

My son was in a rear-end collison in his 2015 kia soul, that also pushed him into the person in front of him. my son was at a stop as well as the vehicle in front of him, when a mid sized suv doing approximately 30-40mph slammed on her brakes and rear ended my son. the soul's bumper went underneath the chevy tahoe in front of him. the airbags did not deploy. when police and ems showed up and asked him if he could drive it off the road, the vehicle started, but accelerator would not work. they pushed it off the road. after towing to the body shop, the owner said he didn't know why the airbags hadn't deployed because the electrical wiring harness had been severed in the crash. the towing company was hesitant to tow because he was afraid it may go off. the soul had an estimate of $15,753.75 in damage and therefore totaled...but his airbags never went off.

I was slowing down and was rear ended which caused the seat to fall backward, breaking backward. the car is currently sitting @ray skillman, 1300n. shadeland, indianapolis, in. the seat is badly defomed and broken. i feel someone should check this seat to make sure no one else has this problem. my car is totaled and should be checked before it is destroyed. please contact me if you want additonal information.

Was driving down an interstate on a july afternoon. temperature in the mid 90's with ac set on 72. driving with no cars around at 60mph and all of a sudden hear what sounds like a gun shot. i looked around to see if i could see anything wrong and did not see anything until i looked up. the panoramic sunroof had shattered completely. the roof fragments i could see was lifting outward. i called my haircut appointment to cancel and drove straight to the nearest kia dealership. on the way over, the small glass fragments between the actual broken fragments started to fall so i closed the sunshade. also on the drive to the dealership, some of the broken glass fell out onto the road behind me. its been 2 weeks and so far no news from corporate kia on replacing my sunroof.

After buckling the seat belt on the front passenger seat and going down the road if you try to lean forward one finds that the seat belt is locked and will not permit any movement you have to release the seat belt and then return it to its parked position and then pull it back out again. once that has been done you can move forward or pull on the belt only once before it locks up again. i feel very unsafe when the seat belt does this because i feel that in a serious accident one might not be able to release the seat belt if there was a lot of tension on the belt from its own tightening. one should be free to lean forward to open the glove compartment or turn to attend to matters in the back seats. i have actually simulated a scenario where there was extreme tension on the belt from pushing back in my seat and tightening the belt by pushing the belt back up over my shoulder and when i tried to release the belt it was so hard to press the release button that i had to ask my wife to get a rubber mallet and a long screwdriver so that i could hit the release button with the screw driver against the release button. it finally di disengage. i told my wife to go to the dealer and tell them to fix it and she was told there was nothing wrong with it. we had a 2013 kia soul and the seat belts did the same thing. i find this situation to be extremely unsafe and in certain situations this problem could be the root cause of fatalities.i have mentioned this to the dealer in regard to the 2015 and they said they checked it and it works fine.it does not work fine by any standard. i think the dealer/kia know there's a problem but need to be told to fix it. at best this is a major nuisance and at worst it is a death trap from which without a knife one cannot escape.

From the date of purchase until present the vehicle has a lag in acceleration when automatic transmission shifts from first to second gear. the lag causes a dangerous condition when pulling out. took it back to the dealer 2 times, and each time was told there was nothing they could do until a engine light came on.

Kia country of charleston, south carolina sold me a new 2015 kia soul while under an active recall, prior to the recall work being completed, in apparent violation of 49 u.s.c., section 30112(a)(3). kia service campaign 116, a safety recall to correct a potential unsafe condition resulting from the fracturing of the accelerator pedal, appears to have been in effect well in advance of my purchase date of 02 april 2015. it seems that in the rush to sell me the vehicle, the recall work was not completed, and i was not notified that a recall was in effect. i only found out about the recall after registering on a kia website as a kia owner, when an automated system matched my new vehicle's vin number to the recall, and indicating it as incomplete. the soul was taken in for service and the recall was completed on 24 april 2015, after the vehicle had been driven 1208 miles with the potential unsafe defect, with no other notification from the dealership or the manufacturer. *tr

2015 kia soul sputtered when going from first gear, to second gear and then third. cw also, the check engine light illuminated on the dashboard. a diagnostics revealed, the vehicle was not firing on all four cylinders and that was the reason the vehicle seemed sluggish. the engine cover was removed and it was discovered all the cylinders were not connected. *jb

I was driving on the highway and when i accelerated the vehicle moved slower instead of going faster. once i parked on the side of the road the vehicle turned off and will not turn on. the mechanic said that the engine died.

P0420 code catalyst system below threshold is part of the recall sc-176. this was in on5-17-19 for the fix. seven months later same same code back on 12-30-19. this cause the car to hesitate when moving or stopped.i have been getting 24 mpg instead of 32 mpg. since the code came back. the car feels like its going to stall when starting from a stop. dealer states car is out of warranty but this was a recall from 5-17-19.
