2015 JEEP Renegade

AC would not get cold after running for an hour, then the compressor began to whine. It’s costing me $1,100 to be replaced. I paid the Hendrick Chrysler to diagnose and repair costing me $785 in March 2023. They never mentioned anything being faulty, now the electrical is failing.

I purchased this vehicle from the Jeep Dealership in Gastonia. My son referred me to this place, he had purchased three vehicles there for himself, his wife and his son.
My Renegade was in close to perfect condition. I have put less than 8,000 miles on this vehicle. About a month ago the leather or (plastic upholstery) on all THE INSIDE of the doors started unsticking or coming loose from the actual doors exposing the foam and adhesive that was holding the fabric to the doors. The back doors are the worst, the fabric has completely separated and hanging loose. I still owe almost $10,000 on this vehicle. I took the vehicle to the Dealership two days ago and was assured that he would do his best to resolve the issue. Now I see that I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM with my 2015 Jeep Renegade. I am 76 years old, and anyone can tell that this vehicle has been well maintained. I need my vehicle to be repaired… obviously the doors on this vehicle were manufactured by someone who knows absolutely NOTHING about what he was doing!!

within the last year, the vinyl on all doors is separating. On the driver and passenger sides BOTH are separating around the window controls and inside the open door frame. In the back, BOTH doors are pulling from the inside door frame. However, its though the vinyl was cut to small and there is no way possible to stretch it enough to get it to account for the arm rest. There is too much pressure on the area where the arm rest. I did have a vinyl repair company evaluate and they immediately said it has to be a defect and for me to contact Chrysler. There seems to have been no adhesive on the inside of the panel behind the vinyl. With it pulled away you can easily feel there is none.

My car will not stay in drive. i was leaving a parking space in a parking lot and when i put it into drive it moved forward and then shifted to neutral on its own. i shifted back to drive and it went back to neutral. if i had been pulling out into traffic, someone could have easily crashed into me because when it shifted into neutral my car no longer had any power and it causes an unexpected slow down.. my car is currently at a mechanic’s shop waiting to be repaired. in researching this problem with my car, i have found other jeep renegades and chrysler vehicles with the same problem have been recalled for safety concerns. if my car is doing the same thing, why is it not a safety concern? my car is currently at the mechanic shop it was towed to, waiting to be repaired. at this time, i have no paperwork on repairs.

I parked my car in the garage on a monday got ready to go the very next day car started but wouldn’t go in gear and the dash board was saying service engine and transmission there was no warning any time before

Engine light has been on lighting on and off. i went to mechanic and it's the coolant thermostat. which might be affecting my intake air temperature. in cold weather engine light goes off and in hot weather it turns on. this causes my jeep to struggle when i want to spend up on highway. the other annoying problem is that when i'm in idle at a stop light the jeep shakes so much that i feel it all over car. it also has a very loud noise to it. my other problem is when someone is sitting on the passenger side my volume to my radio goes down. never fails. i have taken it to the dealership and they tell something completely different. i had my jeep diagnosed 3 times and it comes out that it's the thermostat. dealership was telling it was the fuel injector which has nothing to do with coolant issues. i also hear my transmission click hard when changing gears from drive to reverse. it is an automatic transmission. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#

My front right wheel completely snapped & my tire was perpendicular to its normal state. they had to replace a host of parts including the fr axle, strut, strut mount, most of the suspension. roughly 6mo after the repairs my jeep started having a troubling sound & feeling while driving. upon going over any kind of bump turn regardless of breaking speed, i could feel & hear a part knocking around like a joint was hitting the walls of its bracket & it affected everything about how the car handled any change in driving conditions. i went to the tires plus i have been using for a decade to diagnose & they recommended i get the strut mount replaced but cautioned that their diagnosis was a guess as they would have to take apart the suspension to see if the mount was indeed the culprit. i recognized that that part was replaced after the incident & immediately said wait, let me check w/my insurance. i returned to the facility that did the repairs & was told that my strut was “brand new” & “perfectly fine” but that my shocks needed to be replaced. i sought a 3rd opinion - who deduced that the problem was neither parts but was actually that my all of my sub mount bolts were loose & it was causing my entire engine to move around... i was like ok, and went home, however the issue slowly returned over the course of 6-8 weeks & then 1 mo after the anniversary of the original repairs i heard a loud pop/crack. my front right strut completely snapped! i cannot shake the feeling that its more. almost 6 mo since final repairs (nov-dec2020) i am hearing & feeling wobbling/banging in the fr & the same handling issues on bumps and turns. **events above summarized full account of complaint attached with images/docs**

Since i bought the jeep, it would sometimes shift really hard from 1st gear & that was at 47k miles. now i am at 55k & it is doing it from 1st, 2nd, & sometimes 3rd. of course, jeep has made it so that i cannot even check my transmission fluid, much less add any because they made it a closed unit. i'm shocked that with all of the complaints i have seen about the "jerky" "hard shifting" "slipping" that a recall has not been done on this, clearly, flawed transmission system.

Car shutting off while driving due to oil being low, however there is no indication that oil needs to be changed and within mileage limit. *tr

My car's radiator fan started rattling and after looking further into the issue, i found endless sources of owners of the same car as me that have had the same issue. if not diligently acknowledged and fixed, the radiator fan motor will eventually go out. this has caused smoking and flames and catastrophic engine damage. the sound happens when my car is idling and stopped in first gear. to avoid these costly and dangerous effects of when the radiator fan motor does fail, i have been unable to drive my car. class action lawsuit case 2:19-cv-10417-nge-eas has been filed, but no further updates have been released.

Since i owned this jeep i complained at service that the transmission seems strain and where a change in gear should naturally happen, the engine would whine and whine and then eventually shift gears. i was always met with service men with no response. since the very beginning i was told that the engine burned considerable amounts of oil, and i would need to make additional special appt sand bring it in to make sure i had oil in the engine?the console above my head where the interior lights and the sunroof switch is there are red lights that light up from time to time indicating what/ and why are they lit? another question unanswered by the jeep service dept of rockland cnty ny.now that my jeep is over 150,000 miles the electrical is shot. the check engine light comes on and goes off from time to time. the 4wheel drive sporadically works, same with the sunroof control and the driver seat lumbar and position controls on the driver seat. only work when they want to

This vehicle has stalled while driving in the highway 3 times now. it also consumes more oil in a month than most cars consume in 20 years. it is an unsafe car that if not fixed will result in damage, injury or death. this car needs to be recalled and fixed asap.

My jeeps runs out of gas at 1/4 tank. no low fuel light comes on. this has happened on multiple occasions. (i.e. while on the interstate going 65mph, in city traffic)

My vehicle has stalled on the highway 3 times and the transmission is very jerky. the dealer did an oil consumption test and said it is normal for my car to consume 2 quarts of oil every 3000-4000 miles. i have never owned a vehicle that uses this much oil. the oil warning light has never come on indicating g the oil is low.

The transmission shift very hard like a bucking bronco for lack of better words. the vehicle has been to the dealer where i purchased the certified used vehicle. it is a 2015 jeep renegade and the problem is the 9 speed automatic transmission. i causes jerks when shifting and when stopping causes a big jerk at the very end of braking at a stop sign or light for example.

After 7 months and 7000 miles of ownership, the front windshield cracked. driving in early sunday morning city traffic a 24" crack developed across the windshield. the crack appears to start at the edge of the glass.

15 renegade limited ** a few issues ***first i have had to replace front brakes and rotors 4/27/16 with 9030 miles then had to replace again 9/28/16 with 16611 miles ..... second *** when driving my on highway normal speeds my vehicle will randomly act like it is neutral will not accelerate for few seconds then will work fine ( has happened 2 times to me months apart) third*** when making turns on dry roads my stabilitrak light comes on traction control blinks no acceleration happens at random a few times one time i was almost rear ended last incident happened 10/3 520pm ... i now again hear noise when braking after driving a few miles it gets more noticeable the longer i drive ..i am feeling unsafe driving this vehicle never knowing when these issue will happen next not to mention not being able to afford replacing brakes and rotors a few thousand miles. *tr

When driving and need to make a left turn, the jeep loses power and the stability control light blinks.. it is a severe safety issue as i have almost been rear ended several times. it is a known issue by chrysler fiat but they are doing nothing to fix it as it is in jeep forums everywhere. i feel it is time for a class action lawsuit, before someone is seriously injured or killed. *tr

Sept. 27, the brakes locked up while i was driving about 40 mph! i was traveling west on old us12, just leaving chelsea, gaining speed. there were no cars around me, nothing in front, beside, or turning near me. there were no animals in the road. there was no reason for the brakes to lock up. i was driving a friend home, all she noticed was the the brake light came on. i very carefully and slowly drove my friend home and took the car to the dealership, i told them i was not driving the car until they figured out why this happened. it is not safe!

Salesman said they could make it like the one we wanted (we picked by color) but they would have to add remote start and heated seats. we picked it up noticing they butchered the seat putting in heated seats. we get home with it and shut it off mind you this is brand new, to wake up in the middle of the night cause i hear a car running in the garage its the jeep. they tell me the remote start does it if battery is low. so i start parking it outside as not to die from carbon monoxide poisoning to find it outside running every night. at 1200 miles the rear end starts growling and transmission won't shift and it randomly shuts off going down the highway. its the remote starter they say so they remove it. they gave it back to me with my money back. does it again 3 more times and took it in 3 more times for shutting off on highway, rear end growling still and transmission not shifting. get it back we couldn't find anything wrong with it but we did updates to the computer and transmission. next day radio starts changing stations on its own as i record it with my phone, lights going off and on, windows not working and still not shifting. they replaced rear end pig, radio, wiring harness as they said the guy bent a pin installing remote starter. then at 17,000 miles rear end and transmission start doing it again and the shorting comes back, new rear pinion at another dealership, new radio again as the other one shorted out, transmission still not shifting. filed for lemon law chrysler comes back with the car is fine its due to the after market equipment i had installed. your dealer ship is who had it installed brand new vehicle. still have problems with transmission not shifting or taking off when pushing gas pedal. stuck with this junk cause they won't take it back. called lawyers and they said love to help but that was a one and done deal. never buy chrysler again.

Approximately one month after purchasing my 2015 jeep renegade trailhawk, i began having trouble with the electrical system. the battery has died four times, the key fob(s) work intermittently, the engine has shut off on its own, the clock continuously resets the date/time, and the windows have stopped working once. i have been forced to use jeep's roadside assistance twice due to dead batteries. this weekend, the heater stopped working and it does not turn on. these continuous problems substantially impairs both the use and value of my car. additionally, it presents a significant safety concern for my family; winter is upon us and my wife utilizes this vehicle to transport our two children, whom are each under the age of three years old. the thought of them being stranded with no heater due to continuous electrical issues is unnerving. i initially considered this to be an isolated incident; however, i've asked two additional 2015 jeep renegade owners if they have encountered any similar instances - both have returned their renegade to the dealership for servicing due to electrical issues. the dealership informed them the vehicle simply needed a software update. this is not a satisfactory response!

Vehicle stalls and breaks lock while driving. 4wd lock turns on without engagement and car has to be restarted.

Case #: [xxx] vin: [xxx] vehicle description: chrysler aspen limited 4x2 sport utility 4-door good morning - i dropped my car off to be serviced yesterday for the claim as advised after work yesterday. i was given a jeep renegade as a loaner. why was i not able to get the key out of the ignition last night. after trying several times and after speaking with chrysler sales rep [xxx] who was very helpful. he advised if the car was in a safe place to leave the window down. the car was in my garage. i drove it back to the stateline chrysler and after explaining the situation, and after double checking the situation, quan or qual w/ stateline chrysler not [xxx] were able to get the key out of the ignition either. i was an hour an a half late for work due to this situation. i did not want to keep a car and be stuck any longer with this situation. i was advised by the stateline rep that customers have called with complaints that they are unable to get the key out of the ignition. this was only a loaner car for me ...another chrysler issue. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I have owned this 2015 jeep renegade 4wd for just over one year. during this time frame, the battery has died three times; once leaving my family stranded 40+ miles from our home. the key fobs continuously fail to work. meaning, you are stuck manually unlocking each door... and when the key fob is not working, neither does the electric switch on either of the four door panels. obviously several years back, most vehicles had manual locks and windows... but this is 2016 and a vehicle that is only one year old with under 10,000 miles. for a battery to die three times and the key fobs to continuously fail, there is an obvious electrical issue with the jeep renegade. there is nothing worse than being stranded...and from a safety aspect, a key fob should be far more reliable than what jeep offers.

Was going approximate 25-30 mph switched lanes and the traffic stop i pressed the brakes and here was a grinding felling and hit the back of another car and did substantial damage to the front end of my jeep and the airbags did not go off

Purchased vehicle in july 2015, with 12 miles on the odometer. vehicle died while in motion at approximately 12 mph on may 2016. had full electrical power, but engine would not turn over and ignition did not even make "click" noise. towed by fca 24h service to the closest dealership (and not the one i bought it from and requested it go to). after 3 days was told that it needed oil, oil changed was performed, and that it was fine. oil started "disappearing" - no leak, wasn't burning. oil pressure light would come on continuously. called fca to alert to problem and ask warranty questions. was told to put oil in and that there were no problems with 2015 renegades; warned rep that continued driving with no oil would seize engine. called original dealership and was told to replicate the problem. was able to replicate problem - engine seized, with only 9288 miles on it, on aug 29 2016 while entering neighborhood at appx.15 mph - first started shaking and rumbling loudly, sputtering and dying while in motion, engine light came on and would not start after that. had towed to original purchase dealership. was first told was a cylinder head and that was oil in the spark plug sockets and elsewhere (lucky it did not catch on fire while i was driving). week later was told that a whole new engine would have to go in, as it was seized. engine has finally been replaced after 30 days, as dealer had to wait for fca approval. now out of pocket almost $400 for vehicle rentals and towing, despite fca promises to provide. filed for buy back process and given run around. have not had my vehicle for a total of 37 days this year - 35 which are consecutive. still waiting for fca response; have called several times and rep will not return my calls. stay far away from any fca produced vehicle that has the 9 speed automatic transmission.

Vehicle unpredictably shifts hard in drive and reverse. car jerks when backing out or pulling out of a parking spot, accelerating after making a complete stop, and less frequently, when accelerating on the highway at approximately 20-30 mph. date and mileage of incident is the date of first occurrence to the best that i can recall and continues at present on a near-daily basis creating increased risk of accidents.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep renegade. while driving various speeds, an abnormal noise was coming from the front of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to town and country jeep (3156 hempstead turnpike, levittown, ny 11756) where it was diagnosed that the stand module assembly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer stated that there was no recall and the parts were unavailable to ship. the approximate failure mileage was 34,200.

I have had the jeep for 18 months, bought brand new, and have in shop at least 14 times. the scariest problem was when i pulled out into traffic, got up to about 35 mph and the car went into "lockdown". car put itself into neutral, air bags turned off, brakes didn't work, and just about every other system turned off. this has happened 3 times and the 1st 3 times, they kept saying it was a software update. turned out the engine thermostat was reading it was -40 degrees and this caused it. now i have a service tire pressure system warning, after having to replace all 4 tires after only 28k miles. this is an unsafe vehicle and have been trying to work on lemon law in florida, but now my jeep rep is gone and looks like i have to start the process over. why doesn't jeep just recognize that this is a severe safety issue and i won't let my wife or son drive this vehicle, but i need it to get to work, risking my life every time i drive it.

Sometimes when turning the traction control light turns on and the car will not accelerate even when the accelerator is depressed - lasts momentarily then corrects itself

One problem i dealt with was a crack on my front windshield from top to bottom, dealership ship had me back and forth with this ! it doesn't show that something hit it , the other problem is the radio turn off with out me able to turn it back on with everything else going off after that . meaning i couldn't tell the speed i was going as i was driving , gas level , anything else . after it turn back on the emergency break goes off and i'm on the freeway and almost cost a serous crash. the last this that happen on saturday 6/17/2017 was the same thing with the radio going off and ac not working at all and over heating. turn off my car and it was leaking from the radiator. second time i seen it over heat and low on the radiator. i have complain many times to the dealership ship about electronic problems and the emergency break setting off when i'm on the freeway . the front windshield i complain since i got my car . all they did was have me back and forth with it . also the back set seatbelt sit belts sometimes lock where you can't put it on or it's stuck .

Seeing loss of power loud muffler and undercarriage. random indicators such as change oil, power locks and doors, 4x4 not working. heat at 75 degrees blows cold air.

Since i have purchased the car it sometimes stops dead in its track as i start to drive. i am usually going slow when this happens. i took it in and was told the software had to be updated and i had a lot of them. now, the air broke and all of a sudden the car started overheating. i had to pull over and wait for service. i am waiting to hear back what the problem is now. considering turning the car in.

Horn works intermittently. took it into dealer and they replicated the problem and performed a software update. worked fine for a week or two, but intermittent inoperable horn issues began again. safety issue when it's needed to alert pedestrians or vehicle that don't see you. on two separate occasions, i barely avoided a cars that apparently didn't see me when they cut in front of me. once was at slow speed in the city and the other was at high speed on the interstate. an inoperable horn is a safety issue. i have to schedule another appointment to hopefully find the problem.

The accident avoidance system will show up on the dash screen as temporarily disabled while driving down the street.

The transmission slams into gear between first and second gear. when turning the transmission has shifted into neutral resulting in loss of power. inability to accelerate. has happened 5 times. the last time almost resulted in my vehicle being hit during a left turn with my children in the vehicle. transmission has been repaired once already. computer updates done and since the updates it is worse than before. feel that the vehicle is becoming unsafe for me and my family

This is my 2nd complaint against this vehicle reference number (february 21 2017 nhtsa id number: 10956054). the car will occassionaly simply stop while highway driving, but the normal problem is quitting as we are accelerating from a stop sign or light. this car was in the shop in february for over a week, where they serviced a recall. the part was back ordered and only being installed where the vehicle was having problems. my wife is currently driving her car back from south carolina and has had this issue twice since leaving. it is not throwing any indicators, warnings or sounds.

Recently had my apartment broken into and one of the things stolen was my 2015 jeep renegade keyless entry/start key fob. since this person knows where i live i needed to have my fob reset and the stolen one deleted from the memory. turns out for the jeep renegade only the existing fobs can not be removed from the memory unless they have the physical fob. now i have to fear that my car can be stolen and broken into at any time as i am unable to move anytime soon. jeep is aware of this problem and states there is simply nothing they can do about it and it has been fixed in newer models. i have gotten zero suggestions as to how to proceed so my car is not stolen or damaged by the creep who has my fob. the computer in the car cannot be completely reset to make a whole new set of fobs since the vin on the renegade does not allow for total reset of keyless system.

At river oaks chrysler-plymouth-jeep: 7/6/2016 - (1) red lights "on" in upper console that dials 911 and emergency road services. (2) radio display indicates radio needs service; radio replaced by dealership. at northwest chrysler - jeep - dodge - ram: 4/24/2017 - all lights failed while i was driving back from lunch. back up lights, turn signals - all lights were not working and i drove immediately to closest jeep dealer, near work. the lights were back on after 5 minutes or so, and the dealer could not find a problem. no work was performed on the vehicle. 7/14/2016 - (1) red light still on and dealer never fixed; still an issue as of 8/14/2017. (2) after new radio installed, apps were missing; back up camera not working; bluetooth not working; radio cannot access wi-fi. new 8/14/2017 (will take to helfman dealership today, where i originally purchased the vehicle on 5/5/2015): on or about 8/1/2017; large warning light came on when i started the car (i say large because it was in part of console that shows speed, miles traveled and other customizable screens) indicating that it needed some type service right away, but it disappeared within 5-10 seconds. will also try to get dealer to explore red lights in upper console that are still present and occurring after more than one year. they appear and stay after i turn the car off and let it rest only a few minutes. red lights are not present if car sits for several minutes or overnight.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep renegade. while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly overheated. the vehicle was towed to the covert jeep chrysler and dodge dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator and cooling fan failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired because the parts were on backorder. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they were unable to provide any transportation assistance for the duration of the month until the repair became available. the approximate failure mileage was 36,914.

While accelerating to pull out of a full stop at a stop sign intersection i pressed the gas but the car didn't move. it felt like it was almost in neutral or had stalled completely. after double checking the car was in drive and checking my dashboard for errors, i put the car in park, and then shifted back to drive and it began moving finely with the gas pedal. the event was scary however because for that moment as i was pressing the gas pedal while the car was in drive, the car wouldn't move at all. this could have been dangerous had i been on a busier road. the car had been turned on and running for 2 minutes prior to this event occurring. i was pulling out of a grocery store parking lot.

Back seat belts does not work won't retract properly so i can't buckle my baby car seat in.already had them replaced and they are still doing the same thing

Driving along at about 40 mph on a rural road on vacation out west when the vehicle quit accelerating. coasted to roadside. upon turning vehicle off, made sounds for a while. let it rest and tried to restart on multiple occasions. no luck. the vehicle was towed and dealership said the fuel pump had to be replaced. mileage was 64k. the fuel pump is not considered part of the power train so this was not covered under warranty.

The vehicle was at a complete stop but still in drive. i pushed on the gas pedal and the engine reved as if it was in neutral and the car would not move forward. a message popped up that said please select a gear and that the car was not in gear and the lights flashed on the shifter. i shifted to neutral and back to drive and the engine reved again with no movement still. i pushed the 4 wheel dive button on and off and finally shifted into park and shut the engine off because i didn't know what else to try. i restarted the car and shifted it into drive and i was able to move again. i brought the car home and parked it out of fear that this would happen again in traffic. i took my car to the dealer and they say they can't duplicate the problem. i looked up transmission recalls and found s55, a transmission recalled that described exactly my problem. i called chrysler and they said while my car has the troublesome 9 speed transmission, that some ratio was set at 3.7 so that recall doesn't affect my vehicle. clearly this does affect my vehicle because my son and i experienced it. what do i do if this happens again??!! i now know to take video to prove this is a problem but my son drives this car to school, will he be safe?

On my way to work got to the end of one of the streets at a stop sign and the car stalled no warning lights of any kind showed on dash , only thing it said was place in park then select a gear . get in my car after i finish work stop at the exit of parking lot and stalls again , drive to end of road to stop sign and stalls again drive 100yards to first stop light and stalls yet again ....never had a problem with my renegade till now and of course am passed the 36000 mile warranty...next page won't allow me to enter numbers mph when it happened 0...miles on vehicle at time 39198

Renegade when in motion going 40mph and encounters a hill/increase in grade, will not shift into next gear. the vehicle is stuck in the lower gear @ 40mph as the engine rev's over 3,000rpm but the vehicle won't accelerate and won't kick-in the higher gear. have to nearly press the accelerator to the floor to force the vehicle to ramp the rpm's to 4-5,000 to get it to shift into the correct gear. feels like i'm going to blow the engine when i have to do this but it won't shift into gear. this has been happening consistently for over a month. called dealership, they said there are several software updates for the renegade, so try that and see if it fixes the issue. took to dealership today for 7 software updates.

When trying to accelerate from a stop, car hesitates to the point of almost stalling for several seconds then lurches/jerks forward, running rough for several seconds as it finally starts moving forward. dangerous when pulling out into traffic; the vehicle is immobile as it hesitates/stalls! has not completely shut down yet but hesitates long enough that it feels like it will. called dealership, they said there were more software updates for the 2015 renegade. took in today to be serviced; 7 flash software updates which included a transmission update. the dealer said to see if it drives better after the software updates. scary!

Today,while pulling out onto the highway my car would not accelerate properly almost causing a very severe accident with my 8 week old baby in the car. we continued to try and drive so we wouldn't be stuck in the middle of the highway but the jeep went 35 to 40 miles an hour all the way home. this was not the first incident with this car but the first as severe as this. a few days after i bought the car it would shift hard when put into reverse, it felt as if someone hit me from behind. this is a brand new vehicle, my only vehicle, and i am scared to take my baby anywhere. this was a very scary incident especially with a newborn. jeep not only put my life at jeopardy but more importantly a baby's life!

Vehicle lost-power/stalled while driving. the vehicle stalled while trying to pull into traffic from a parking lot; the vehicle was in motion while the brake was slightly depressed; when removing the foot from the brake to depress the accelerator pedal the vehicle stalled. tried to restart the car in neutral, but soon realized vehicle will only allow starting of engine while in park. notified dealership that online articles indicated a recall soon for the issue, but they indicated there were no vehicle error codes, they could not repeat the issue and they couldn't do anything until there is a recall, so they did nothing.

The vehicles traction control light comes on during normal driving causing loss of throttle an power making you exit to shoulder or sometimes after 10 sec or so the power will return. car does not die it just takes throttle control away while traction light flashes. this is all during normal dry conditions and normal driving. i have also seen a huge amount of this same issue on the forums. my vehicle has been in the dealership service department four times and they have no fix yet. it is very unsafe and my wife is afraid to drive her brand new jeep. it's really ridiculous that we have to deal with all this an no one seems to care until someone gets killed because of the issues. and if this doesn't get corrected someone is going to get hurt or killed in a car accident. this problem occurs on a regular basis but it's hard to recreate on the spot so it's impossible to get the dealer to believe it is happening but if you search the web there is tons of info on this issue.

I've filed a complaint before and the issue has happened again. i was left stranded, an hour and a half from home by my jeep renegade. the keyless entry system decides to stop working out of the blue and then there is no way to start the car. jumping it doesn't help and it's a major glitch in the system. the dealer "fixed" this issue last week by replacing a faulty ground and they said that was what was causing it. three days later, i'm in the same predicament that i was in before. this car is no longer safe to drive and no one has been proactive in taking care of this. i don't know what else to do.

I purchased the first model of the jeep renegade in may 2015. it has remote keyless entry. in the past year, the keyless entry has stopped working 7 times. it had to be towed to the dealer 4 times. there is no way to start the car, even when you take the metal part of the key and touch it to the start button. i've been stranded without a vehicle each time. jeep says they've never seen this happen before but i've read multiple jeep forums stating that this is a known problem. for a brand new car, this is a major defect. the second to last time it was brought to the dealer, they switched the battery and said that would fix it. two months later, the same problem came back. they don't know how to fix this issue and my car is unsafe to drive for fear that i could be stuck somewhere without cell service. each time this happens, the car is parked and off. i never know when the issue is going to occur, it happened twice last week and the first time it got towed to the dealer. by the time it got there, the dealer said there was no issue starting the car and they couldn't replicate the problem so there was no fix.

Tire pressure monitor system service light came on this morning. tpms no longer able to read any of my tire pressures.

Service 4x4 light had come on, intermittently for over a month and is now staying on. i have not used the 4x4 system in over 6 months. no reason for it to need serviced if it hasn't been used.

The stability control light randomly flashes and i lose power to the car. it happens during dry conditions and more frequently when turning. i have almost been in an accident twice because this. it has been occurring for months now and i have taking it to the dealer twice but they say they can't find anything wrong with it. no codes or star cases have been reported but the car it not right. i'm don't feel safe driving it but i am not sure what to do now.

My transmission has me feeling so unsafe. after putting my vehicle in d, when i attempt to accelerate, the car makes no attempt at moving and then suddenly jerks forward. this happens when leaving my driveway, moving past a stop sign and in traffic. obviously the latter are especially frightening. jeep dealership said it could be software, but after an update, the problem continued to worsen, rather than improve. it is now to the point i feel completely unsafe in my vehicle. it has not been recalled, but i'm shocked; especially after seeing how many of the same complaints are out there. i desperately want my transmission replaced (not "fixed") before my warranty is up. either that, or a new vehicle!

I have owned this vehicle for a year and have less than 5k miles on it. today i was making a normal right hand turn (not sharp or anything) and as i was turning the jeep lost all power and the traction control light came on the dash.

On three separate occasions since december 29th, 2016, my jeep renegade has had dangerous drivetrain/transmission issues. vehicle's 9 speed automatic transmission will unexpectedly stop shifting, accompanied by "check engine" and "check transmission" warnings on the dash. occurs randomly during normal operation, at multiple speeds. vehicle will not downshift, causing lack of ability to accelerate to stay with traffic. issue subsides after parking overnight. brought vehicle to two different dealerships, where software updates and a "flash" of the transmission was completed. dealerships were unable to identify the cause of the issue, even though i was able to drive to dealership while the issue was happening on one occasion. jeep warranty office has not offered any resolution to the recurring unsafe transmission issue after multiple complaints via email and telephone.

After vehicle is at operating temp. vehicle stopped at light, turning left and accelatering away, the traction control light comes on and vehicle loses power like it wants to halt vehicle for 5-10 seconds. i was able to pull over bit, release acceleration pedal, and reapplied to regain full function and acceleration. happens either turning right or left on dry pavement. renegade has been to the dealership five times. service manager road tested vehicle and verified concern. dealership had a tech advisor state that they are aware of the problem, it is inherent with renegades. fca currently has no know application to correct this unsafe condition. have had vehicle to dealership april, 2016,july, 2016, october 2016, february 2017 and march 2017.

While driving car lost power looked down car shifted into neutral by itself. then a few days later radio n backup camera did not turn on finally did after pushing the radio on button then after a few miles jeep started bucking and heard a whining noise while stepping on gas. read may complaints and this is a dangerous vehicle. this happened the first time while driving @ 50 mph the second time i was stationary starting up at first then bucking n noise starred at @ 30 mph.

2nd occurrence of all the sensor lights coming on and engine simply stopping. both times, the vehicle had been braked and was ready to accelerate when all the lights on the dash and gear shift began to flash. the first occurrence all the lights flashed and halted before it could completely cross the highway. the dealership applied all updates to the computer keeping the car overnight. the second occurrence vehicle was just towed to the dealer as unfit to drive. after resting, only the check engine light came on. will know more after auto is checked.

Hard clunk shifting in first 3 gears. it should be a smooth transition but it thumps hard and lurches forward when going from 1st to 2nd especially. it’s a scary issue that upon reading i see it is a problem with my make and model jeep.

Infamous 9-speed transmission has not worked correctly since the 1st day i bought it new! took it in to jeep service 9 times for this issue! jeep service manager says, "it's working as it should." oh, it is supposed to work screwed up?! hard shifting, lurching, power loss, inconsistent shifting patterns, etc. problems exist upon take-off, speeding up, slowing down & coming to a complete stop. it is not right!

When i am driving on the road the vehicle turns off and does not turn on and send an electric power stering alert this happens since i purchased the vehicle used at a jeep certified dealer in florida and i have driven it several times and they tell me that it has no problems

I will start this off by saying i’ve had a few problems with my 2015 jeep renegade including a/c problems, power outlets(back seat 110v outlet, cargo outlets & built in flashlight) shutting off after only a few minutes of usage. the blind spot assistance will randomly pop up when driving saying “blind spot assist is temporarily unavailable” the biggest one being what’s happening now which is what i’ll explain below but to inform you more i’ll include that it had 96k when i got the truck and had always kind of had a jerky feel when shifting between gears which i read was kind of normal, so i didn’t put much thought into it until now. my truck was sitting in my driveway for 2 days without being moved and when i went to leave the battery was dead. i hadn’t left anything on, lights, radio, ect. it had happened a few times before but i didn’t think much of it till now. so after i charge the battery long enough to get the vehicle started it finally fires up but all these messages come across the screen: check engine, service transmission, blind spot temporarily out of service, passageway entry unavailable, along with a few more. i give it a minute having the truck running to reset these things their selves and most do except a few. the check engine light was still on along with the biggest problem which is the service transmission warning that has the truck stuck in gear; it won’t shift out of park. i tried disconnecting the battery terminals for about 20 minutes seeing if the software will reset that way but it didn’t help still has the message on the screen. i eventually had to have it towed to a dealership for repair. they’ve had it 4 days now and i’m still not sure what the problem diagnosis is but am dreading this major issue.

My vehicle's passenger tire was improperly mounted by the manufacturer. it has led to the engine mounts becoming worn, causing the camshaft to be worn at only 71,213 miles, and the drive shaft becoming broken. this has been documented by a repair shop and a jeep dealership service center says that this is the third time that they have seen this issue and attribute it to the tire being improperly mounted by the factory. this is also a known issue documented in videos and online forums. this is a matter of safety and could cause catastrophic failure while driving. the manufacturer has been notified but have not yet acknowledged that this warrants a recall, which it should.

Transmission began to slip and failed under normal driving conditions both on highway and streets within first year of car purchase from dealership. the dealership replaced the transmission and within five years, the transmission is slipping again while driving under normal conditions both on highway and streets.

While driving in the mountains, a transmission warning light followed by a check engine light flashed on the dash. i figured it was a maintenance warning. the further i drove, it became apparent that i was losing the ability to accelerate. in the mountain range there is no cell service and it was dark as well as fearful drivers would come up behind me on a curve without my ability to go hwy speeds, leaving me to feel very unsafe. the further i drove, the less ability i had to accelerate. by the time i reached the freeway, my ability to accelerate was very compromised. when i reached the freeway, it was congested, playing in my favor since i could not accelerate well. when starting from a stop, the engine was getting up to 2000+ rpms to go 15 mph. i had it towed to the dealership. i was told that if it was the transmission, it would be covered under a warranty the jeep extended, but since this involves “the brain of the transmission” it is not a covered repair.

The vehicle is designed with a sensor to notify us when an oil change is due. there is no recommended oil change schedule. several times my car has begun to run low on oil but the oil change sensor has not registered this or advised me to change my oil even when th e car was not operating properly and had to be towed.

While on the highway my vehicle decreased speed, and i was unable to pick up speed abnormally. while pushing on the gas, it gave a "neutral feel" as if i were on neutral. my vehicle has not been recalled for the similar recall nhtsa reference: #16v545000

9 speed automatic transmission is not engineered properly. gear shifts are very hard and sudden, especially in 1-3 gears. acceleration is delayed.

I've had shifting issues with my vehicle for over 1 year now. vehicle shifts rough and surges unexpectedly and randomly everyday. i have taken my vehicle to the dealership more than 5 times for this issue with no resolution and statements stating they "can't find any problems" with my transmission. my vehicle surges without pressing the gas pedal and adheres my vehicle from braking adequately to the point where i'm nervous it will push me into a stopping car in from of me.

The vehicle has less than 14k miles on it. we have had to replace the o2 sensor. less than a month later, the wiring harness has melted. dealership advised that the wiring harness has been updated indicating there was a defect that was corrected. however no recall was issued. why not if the part was updated to fix a defect?

Several times i took my 2015 jeep renegade into carthage chrysler dodge jeep ram to complain about my transmission slipping with acceleration from a stop. i was told several times it was fine, despite my repeated complaints that it was a safety hazard. it would slip when entering roundabouts and when making left turns in traffic, causing several near accidents. i also complained about the jeep renegade continuing to shift into neutral, a recall jeep claims to have repaired in the past. when i wrote the company about my dismissed complaints in may i responded to their email for follow up information on may 12. a follow up question was asked regarding the name of the technician i may 13, attached. i apparently missed a call on 5/14 and was notified 5/15 that they were closing my case, also attached. we decided to take my renegade into frank fletcher chrysler dodge jeep, due to excellent customer service during an automotive purchase earlier this year, and they immediately find the problem to be an internal clutch failure. i have now been quoted a price of $4,601+tax...to fix a problem i have been complaining about for years to a different jeep dealership on 9/21/2020. i immediately sent an email to the nhtsa, however i may have notified the administration incorrectly, sending an email instead of the form. also attached is the work order and invoice from july 2019. i was provided with the invoice at time of payment with no mention of a transmission complaint. the work order clearly shows i was complaining about the transmission. every time i complained i was told they couldn't replicate the issue and nothing was noted on the final invoice....when my transmission would have been covered under the power train warranty. this was not my first complaint, either, as i had been complaining about the transmission for years due to it being a safety hazard.

Jeep has started to slip into neutral while driving. this started several days ago. today i was pulling onto the highway and it slipped into neutral. it took a minimum of 30 seconds to correct itself. nothing i do seems to help. if there had been other vehicles on the road, well i hate to think of what could have happened. i will have had this jeep 5 years on january 2, 2021. i have enjoyed the jeep up until the last week,

I stopped at a red light, when the traffic lights turned green i pressed my gas petal but the vehicle started to slow down & wouldn’t move, my engine light came up & so did my brake, airbag & park light. i was stuck in park for a couple of minutes, after waiting my car started back to normal, but this problem continues.

The throttle body stop working. the vehicle doesn’t accelerate at all and does not start. it happen when driving on the street it just turn off

Horn does not work. there is a bell like on a tricycle strapped to the steering column. you can not hear it from the outside of vehicle.someone has straight wired it

The driver and passenger visors have both lost the ability to stay flush with the ceiling of the vehicle. with the material of the cloth on the ceiling i have not been able to get any tape to safely secure the visor. the visual area that you are able to see out of the vehicle is greatly impaired. i was quote a $400-$500 repair from the dealership to fix one. when it originally happened to the passenger side. i have uploaded photos of the drivers side how it sits now, pushed forward, and it held flush with how it should stay. i was driving when t adjusted the visor and it lost tension.

Cooling circuit fan stopped working at 51k miles. engine light said service engine with dash engine light notification. code p0481 comes up

Upon cranking up the vehicle, the dashboard presented a 'service transmission' error and the gear what stuck in park and would not change gears. the vehicle was stationary during this time and in my driveway.

Vehicle vin: [xxx], jeep renegade, 57000 miles i purchased a jeep renegade for my wife at [xxx] in killeen. to make a long story short, the dealership ran into a vin error that we were told was fixed, but it never was because we remain having issues with insurance. i work in law enforcement and looked up nhtsa documentation that says the dealership should contact the manufacturer upon finding a discrepancy and apparently this was never done. the dealership also told us the jeep was in a minor accident and we found out the crash was worse than minor, the vehicle has electrical issues and only one key fob. we were promised another key fob made, but have just got the runaround since purchase. the vehicle will not lock sometimes and we are worried it will not unlock during an emergency. the vehicle continually tells us the key fob is not in the vehicle while driving and while stationary. the jeep also has transmission issues we were never told about. the dealership will not respond to these issues and i need to find someone to help. i have gone up there and spoke to the manager at sales and at parts/service. they told me several times they would call me back after getting my information, but nothing has been done. dealership location: [xxx] - 5200 e. central texas expy in killeen 76542, ph. The car stalled and turned off while pulling out on a busy road. this happened twice over the past 12 mos. there is also a notable “kick” in the automatic transmission while lowering speed.

While driving a 2015 jeep renegade the car shuts off as you are driving. this is not happening while stopped it happens in the middle of the street/road. it has happened with our vehicle at least 3 times, once in an intersection while turning and twice as we were driving. luckily we were able to push the vehicle out of traffic without being hit or injured. one time vehicle assistance was called, eventually the car was jumped successfully, and driven to repair shop, where nothing could be found wrong. about 4 months later the car shut off in an intersection. about 8 hours later we jumped the car and drove it to the repair shop, where again nothing can be detected. many other jeep renegade owners report the same thing happening while driving and when taken in for repairs no thing can be found. each time this happens to our car we have had an infant in the car.. we are grateful we were not on the expressway like some other renegade drivers report. without finding out and fixing what is truly wrong these intermittent shutoffs will continue to happen.

There is a terrible under carriage noise as if one of the welds didn't hold. i took it to a repair shop and they said that the pan under the car was making noise and i would have to take it to the dealership. it was not damaged by anything, it just started making this noise.

My air conditioning went out took it to a couple different garages and they said it’s a sensor in the passenger mirror called ambient temperature sensor. now it won’t register the temperature outside so it won’t let my air conditioning run. this jeep was bought brand new shouldn’t have this happening it’s only 5 years old. i have children and can’t even use air conditioning in a newer car.

I am replacing my coolant fan for the third time! i am replacing my day running light for the seventh time. the coolant fan stop running again. this is the third time in less than two years. the light has been replaced several times .

I was driving on the highway around 3pm when i attempted to turn on the air and the temperature never adjusted. my coolant indicator turned fully red. my car started smoking and i pulled over and popped the hood to see my antifreeze boiling out of the reservoir. i kept the hood up and waited for it to cool down. the next morning, i drove to my sitter’s where i completed my trip and the car started smoking again. now it’s at the shop.

My transmission shifts to neutral while in motion on city streets and highways on its own and puts me at risk for crashing. i have taken my vehicle in on more than two occasions before my 100,000 mile warranty and the problem still persisted and has become worse.

The 2015 jeep renegade has transmission issues and needs to be addressed before someone is seriously injured due the lurking issues. when the vehicle is at an complete stop and you hit the gas to go through an intersection the vehicle lurks and hesitates before the transmission will engage. this issues had created other drives slamming on their breaks to avoid hitting my jeep . this issue has been occurring ever since i purchased the vehicle used 03/19.

The vehicle was purchased new from a jeep dealer. after a few months it drove just fine until we noticed an odd behavior that began to get frequent as more miles added on. we had the service department of the same dealer verify issues related to powertrain performance: rought & harsh shifting, shuttering when in 3-4 or 4-5 gear, slow or heavy sluggish acceleration from stop, high engine reving up to 3,4 thousand rpm with delayed shifting to next gear when traveling uphill or high altitude expressway, slamming into gears when up or down shifting, jerky & harsh thump when stopping from gears 1-2 & when accelerating from gears 1-2, 3-4-5, and rought idle when drive is engaged. all complaints have been reported to service department during the past 60 months with only “computer updates” for transmission offered as a solution and no other alternative offered to permantly remedy the problem. i was told by the service department that these are “normal charateristics” of my car. we stand firm that the car didn’t present these issues when new or we would not have made the purchase. recently, as of june our vehicle has been at the service department with a complaint of a rumble, whinning, and vibrations coming from the drive train when driving from 30-40 miles and restarts at aprox. 60 mph.we have been told again that an update to the powertrain would be performed and some bearrings would be replaced. the service manager don’t return my calls or answer the 3 messages left with his associates to my tag number and issues. the only responce we get is that they are waiting for parts. i asked if we would get a warranty extension? the responce was “non that we know of” by the service representative. my factory warranty expires today and my car is in the shop unrepaired with no powertrain solution. concerned that warranty expire and powertrain issues continue with no avail.

Car will not start. been having problems for the last 2 years since i bought it. unreliable. electricity goes on and off randomly, sun roof wont open, lock button stick, power seat not working.

When starting out from a stop, the transmission hesitates when shifting gears almost causing my vehicle to be rear ended several times. this is a constant problem.

Bearings on front right and left tires wore down extremely quickly with normal driving (no off road driving). both had to be replaced on 4th year of owning vehicle.

My car shifts very badly when i'm trying to drive from a stoplight or a complete stop. i start to go when the light turns green it suddenly stops and then picks right back up. i took it to a shop last week and was told that it is fine...i also try to merge into traffic coming from a parking lot and had almost been hit because of this shifting issue twice so far because i know it is going to happen and normally wait to make sure no cars are anywhere close to me as i try and enter traffic. this issue needs to be fixed and recalled for the transmissions for all the 2015 models. *tr

I have been taking my car to the dealership with the same complaint for over 2 yrs. they charge me for things that they say its not under warranty. i pay but car continues the same as i brought it in. i had to call "corporate" so they can get involved and help me, they did and in a way i was punished by keeping the car for a month and when i asked to get it back they kept telling me they are waiting on parts.at one point my granddaughter got sick (lives with me) and i called them i need my car soon my kid is sick and i was told "get an ubber". finally after a month i get my car and now is worse than ever. my daughter was driving and car smelled like smoke, all the lights on dashboard started going crazy, the air conditioner went dead and vehicle stopped. i have spent so much money complaining about the same thing and now im without a car again. i need help please. i lost my job and now i had to sell my home due to this pandemic. im suppose to leave and move to another state this coming weekend and i have no car to leave. how can anyone help me, please.

I have a 2015 jeep renegade i purchased new from the dealership that is 5 years old with 78123 miles and the rear seatbelt latches have stopped working properly. the dealership has said they will not fix this defect for free (they said it will cost $167 just to take a look at it) even though this is a safety related defect in a part of the car that has barely been used; i almost never have passengers sit in the back seat and the latches are clean (no food particles or dirt or anything in them). we are about to have our first child and know that if the rear seat belt latches are not working properly, we can't officially comply with the va seatbelt laws and can't safely strap our child car seat into the vehicle. we also cannot have any passengers sit safely belted (or belted at all) in the back seat. we are concerned about how pricey the seatbelt latch repairs are going to be, when it seems like a safety defect that the manufacturer/ dealership should be responsible for. i can't imagine that i'm the only person with a jeep renegade that has had an issue with the rear seat belt latches not working properly. i've already checked with the dealership and manufacturer and they said there is nothing in any warranty that covers the seatbelts. there was no major event that affected the seatbelts, i just had to sit in the backseat one day as a passenger and realized the latches weren't working. i've found information: " nhtsa has the authority to require manufacturers to replace seat belts under certain circumstances. if a vehicle or item of equipment is not more than 10 years old and is determined to have a safety related defect or fails to meet an applicable federal motor vehicle safety standard, nhtsa can compel the manufacturer to remedy the defect or noncompliance without charge to the vehicle owner." it would seem that this might apply in my situation? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep renegade. the contact stated that the gear shifter failed to move from the park position. the cause of the failure was not determined. the local dealer efird chrysler located at 1711 west lucas st, florence, sc 29501, was notified of the failure. the contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train). the contact stated that the vehicle experienced the failure listed in the recall. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 80,000.

Vehicle loses permanent power to computer that powers transmission and knocked out computer and the transmission from shifting from drive to park and park to drive rendering the car totally disabled without dealership intervention do to bad connection on the negative battery terminal. this left the car unmovable from travel lane to side of the road in heavy traffic without a tow truck being summoned. at time of incident vehicle would not shift to neutral for removal from highway to safety and placed everyone in danger of high speed collision for the whole entire time that vehicle remained locked down in high capacity, high speed lane of travel. *tr

Stereo/infotainment center shuts off randomly while vehicle is on. when bluetooth is in use while driving, radio turns on when car is off and call is ended. *tr

I bought my 2015 jeep renegade brand new in september 2015 and began having problems right away. there’s a power issue where the car will just shut off and lose power and the key gets stuck in the ignition. i have had it jumped several times just to get it moving again. took the car to several auto zones to test out the battery just to see if i would get a different response but each confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the battery. it either completely shuts off or stops picking up speed in the middle of busy houston traffic. you can feel when it switch gears sometimes, it makes this hard and loud popping noise when it’s trying to switch gears. it’s always done that. this usually happens if i’m at a slower driving speed, like turning at a light, and then accelerate to pick up speed, it either makes that loud popping sound, or struggles to pick up speed and eventually stalls and/or lose power. it’s real scary. i’ve been having this problem since i bought it and have had it checked out many times but no one can tell me what’s wrong with it. i have been monitoring the recalls and have been seeing numerous cases from people with the same issue i’m having but somehow my vin isn’t associated with any recalls.

The electronic emergency brake would not disengage using the button, by driving forward or reverse or by the over rose suggested by the manufacturer. i was unable to drive the vehicle with an emergency brake engages. had to have it towed. was told it was the 4th renegade he’d picked up for the same issue in two weeks. tow truck driver even called dodge to see if i was by any chance under a recall yet. seems like this part is failing a lot. my renegade doesn’t even have 30,000 miles yet. thankfully the vehicle was parked in my own driveway at the time it occurred.

My fog lamps housing melted. the entire inside of both housing are melted due to heat from the bulbs. my lenses are black. it cost me 225.00 for new parts and that does not include labor. how long before these new ones melt again? hopefully it does not cause more damage and short my car out or catch on fire. *tr

When driving the vehicle it hesitates to receive gas and it shifts extremely hard between gears. it stalls and moves forward aggressively when pressing the gas. it vibrates hard while idling (at traffic lights) it has become a safety hazard as it feels as though it is ready to stop at any moment

My check engine light came on and the thermostat light continued to rise until my car shut down. after letting it sit for about 5 minutes it started again. the engine light remained on and if i idle at all the thermostat climbs. i took it to my mechanic and he told me it was listed as a recall as the engine overheats and faulty cooling system. i haven’t seen a recall but have seen similar complaints.

This is a problem with the 1.4 turbo engine in my 2015 jeep renegade latitude burning engine oil until there is nothing on the dipstick. i usually get an indication on my dash that i have low oil pressure, then i go to the store and buy the euro synthetic oil to top off the oul until i can get to a service station or the dealer for an oil change. the oil change needs to be done evey 3,000 miles or so, or i will be out of oil. the dealer has run some tests and isn't able to locate the problem. it just burns oil and it is, of course, no longer under a warranty. besides this problem, i have had numerous other weird problems that happen and can not be identified. i think this 2015 jeep renegade is a lemon. i bought it used and it was re-certified. yeah, by idiots? ocassionally the vehicle just stops running, check the oil, and there isn't any on the stick. this has recurred 5 times. the latest being 3//5/20.

The front left daytime running light bulb tits were melted down the dealer said i had to replace entire related wire system. (daylight running and turn signal) this melting on the bulb is abnormal. possible fire hazard.

Both seatbelts in the back seat are stuck and won’t retract. the back passenger side stopped working in june 2019 and the drivers passenger sise stopped working february 2020.

Check engine light randomly comes on at higher speeds on the freeway and then goes back off. last time it was on, went to repair shop and had it hooked up to the dialysis machine and it stated that the thermostat needed replacing. but the check engine light never stays on. after i stop the car and restart it, it’s off. it also randomly lurches forward or shakes while in drive or parked. i’ve already had to replace the radiator fan which kept blowing fuses due to the fan going off track and getting stuck. i thought that fixed the jumping, but it still occurs. just less often. my mysky panel engine is also broken and will not open. starts to open, then closes or stops completely after only an inch or two of opening.

I sent 1 service record. i have 3 more if needed. jeep still is unsafe i was on a busy street at 5pm at a stop light. when i put foot on gas the car would not move then it started out inching away and finally got moving.it took at least 8 or 10 seconds to get passed the green light and the car behind me was way to close and could have been an accident. i have had it looked at 4 or 5 times and all thats been done is updates and replaced a valve body part. i have an attorney and filed suit against chrysler. this jeep is not safe to drive and they dont care. they are going to wait til someone dies then they will get on this issue. i dont know why my jeep was not in the last recall for transmission but it should be, and they should not be allowed to resell this jeep or the 2015 renegades period. they are not safe.there are many complaints about this transmission and still no recall. its been 4 yrs with this jeep running like its 30 yrs old and i am paying 41000 for it. do missouri a favor,get these 9speed transmissions off the road, they are causing major stress and hardships to the owners. the speed in this jeep is unpredictable. i was on a city street driving at 35 mph and as soon as i was going down a big hill the car sped up way more than the usual down hill speed. they all go a little faster but this was like it was trying to go above 55 and was praying it would stop and it did. but when will the day come that it wont ... i will not live to tell if it ever happens. sad. and all i wanted was a way to get to work,. and all chrysler cares about is getting paid .

In the last two weeks my jeep has stalled three times. each time i was able to start the car easily and then start driving once i slowed down to stop sign or to make a right hand turn the engine shut off. in one instance i was able to get my car in neutral and push off to the side of those quickly to stay out of the way. but in another i was impeating traffic and it was very unsafe. i've had difficulty in jumpstarting the engine to move the vehicle.i have replaced the battery and alternator and checking the rest of the electrical system which seems fine but this issue keeps coming up and the car keeps stopping in the middle of traffic.

Vehicle loses all electrical power and stalls intermittently while driving. this happened several times over the last four years of ownership. not related to extreme temperatures, bumps/vibrations or rain/moisture. battery was tested and even replaced. it was serviced by dealer the previous episode and was told the software needed updating. yet here we are again. i have seen other jeep renegades with similar issues have a recall for wiring harness. according to mopar this year isn't covered.

I have a hard time putting gas in the car though it was the pump but it’s everywhere i go and it eats up a lot of gas. the electrical messed up sometimes it won’t start i got a new battery and everything but the service people said it has to be electrical my keys never work i have to manually use key and lock the door from inside my gears the engine ideals high and car jerks sometimes when i’m taking off

I noticed one fog light smoking when my wife arrived home. upon further inspection both are charred. factory installed bulbs are still in the vehicle.

The cap less fuel filler broke. i was filling with fuel at the gas station. when the tank was full i went to remove the nozzle from the cap less filler neck and the cap less portion broke away from the filler neck and stayed attached to the nozzle. now every once and awhile you can see gas must spill out of the neck when the tank is full since there is nothing to prevent fuel from coming out.

While driving my radio and headlights will start to surge then immediately after, the steering wheel will jerk out of my hands preventing me from turning the wheel in any direction (locks up). if i don't immediately park the car, the car will shut off on then a bunch of warnings will pop up on the dashboard then dynamic power steering warning with flash. i have to wait 10 minutes at least before being able to restart the car. this has happened every single time i drive the car. this has happened multiple times at red lights, turning into traffic, on the highway going 75mph and/or 30mph.

My jeep renegade stalls when i make a slow speed turn. while making a left turn to get on the on ramp to a lah, the car dies. i almost got hit from behind by people trying to go up the on -ramp behind me. the car dies when making a left turn crossing traffic & i almost got killed. the traction control light blinks. these incidents take place on dry pavement. i now see other people having the same issues are posting complaints on the internet on a jeep forum. why has jeep / fca not addressed this ? this is a safety hazard as the car dies for no reason and you can not move the car. there should be a re-call on this. there are documented problems with this & nothing is being done! my car shuts down for no reason.

My 2015 jeep renegade has a defect . the key has gotten stuck in the ignition numerous times since i first bought it new. it is an ongoing safety issue. i can’t just walk away from my vehicle whenever this happens because it can get stolen. i still don’t know how to fix this problem though i try everything, even starting the car again and driving it around for a little longer. even the car service personnel have complained that they can’t get the key out.

When driving the vehicle it shifts extremely hard between gears. it will stall then lurch forwards when hitting the gas pedal. it vibrates very hard while idling (like at a stop light) about 50% of the time. it has been serviced at my local jeep dealership where the pushed a software update. this helped, but did not solve the issues for a few weeks (at most). it is now scheduled to be dropped off again.

Doors will not lock / unlock with key fab. lights flash as if locking but dont lock. jeep remains open and vulnerable to theft without you knowing.

The headlights were on too long while the engine was off causing a dead battery. no big deal i thought... i jumpstart the car per owners manual instructions (it has a complex battery so even though i’ve jump started many different vehicles i wanted to make sure there weren’t special procedures, it ended up being pretty standard). when it died it was in a garage so i had to manually unlock the gear selector to put the car into neutral to push it into position for a jump connection. i put the car in park and let the battery charge up a while. once the car charged up enough, it started right up. at this point i thought i was in the clear, that’s when the service engine light and service transmission light came on. the engine is running fine, transmission was fine before the battery died. not only that, but i could not move the vehicle. it was locked into park. i was blocking the road in my neighborhood while i was manually unlocking the gear selector, i finally get the car to shift into drive and tried to accelerate. only the engine would rev, no movement. try to reverse, same thing. at this point i couldn’t get the car back into park. i push the car back into the garage to get it out of the way and go to turn it off. the renegade (push button start) will not let you turn the car off in any gear but park. it was stuck in neutral. after struggling more to force it back into park, i finally get it and was able to turn the car off. i’m lucky it didn’t get stuck in d or r if it started working! i’ve never had such an experience jumpstarting a car and this is a huge safety concern. luckily i was strong enough to push the car back out of the way, otherwise it would be stuck there indefinitely until a tow came. i’ve read numerous other complaints of this in online forums. each one said a dealership had to reset the cars computer to make it work again.

Returning home on highway christmas day. car would not accelerate. was stuck in a low gear. had to be towed home.

This has been an on and off going issue. when the problem occurs, the check engine light comes on and then the car would stall in the middle of driving on the highway or streets. a warning appears on my dashboard saying to put my car in park in order to switch gears. sometimes it puts me in neutral when i'm at a street light. i'd have to turn my car off and restart it in order to drive again but it keeps happening. several times i try to take my car into the dealership and the check engine light would turn off and it would continue to work like normal until the next episode. it's been getting progressively worse and worse now.

I am contacting you due to due to baxter service rep paul at baxter chrysler dodge jeep ram dealer refusal to repair recalls for my jeep renegade. the recalls that generate from my insurance company allstate are indeed recalls my vehicle needs based on performance issues. he informed me that they’re not recalls, and when i said allstate made them up, he said “yeah”! the information for the 4 recalls are from data.gov. the service department at baxter says they are only going to repair the recall (for engine cooling fan) that chrysler website shows! please advise &/or assist to resolve this issue! i have reported to the assistant service mgr justin sunquist and bbb as well. thanks

I had the service engine light come on in my vehicle. i took it to get it looked at and they ran a diagnostics test on it. the thermostat had to be replaced. not even 9 months later, the same thing is happening again. the service light came on, it was checked, and now my thermostat needs to be replaced again. i am not happy about this. i was driving when this happened.

Shifter/gear on 2015 jeep renegade is stuck in park. cannot take car out of park. car starts but cannot move it due to gear shirt being stuck in park. this may be a manufactors defect. check vin but no recalls came up. our mechanic mentioned there may be a recall on this car due to faulty shifter.

The car stalls out while driving on several occasions i have had to completely stop turn my car off pump the gas and then restart. the first three month of the purchase i had to have it towed back to the dealership because the car stopped completely and wouldn’t not start again no matter how long it was being jumped off . i called the tow truck who used special jump box and he still couldn’t get it to crank. now here it is a less than a year later and the same issue again.

My oil change is not even due and i get alarm of low oil, when this happened the vehicle stops, and don't start, i was turning and it just stopped i culd had been hit by any car coming

Not even 1 month of purchasing the jeep i was driving on i 40 when all the sudden the jeep shifted into neutral so shited it back into drive and took it straight to larry h miller and they had it for 3 days i got it back and since that day it pops into neutral again at least 5 more times this time i was driving it on a business road so now i always have to keep my hand on the shifter just inase it happens again and also my lights keep going dim my radio lights and my light in the whole jeep and every time apon acceleration the jeep seems like it skips

Car will fail sporadically to accelerate while trying to merge into traffic i was almost hit by other vehicles more than once i've talked to others with the same car and all of them described the same exact experience it's only a matter of time before someone is killed.

My etc light came on today as i was backing out of my driveway as well as my check engine light. i turned the car off and when i turned it back on, both lights returned. about a month ago, i finally received my recalls for my fan to be replaced the day after i fixed it. is this another recall that i wasn't made aware of?

Temperature light comes on while idling. cooling fan not working at all. fan failed and fuse blown.

This jeep with approximately couple months of purchase the whole computer system went blank and had to be replaced. there was also a recall for some part.then then the battery and some other part had to be replaced. soon after the engine mount. then the vehicle overheated and had to be towed to the dealer. now again the coolant system is over heating again, took it to pep boys and they can’t seem to detect the problem i am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. but we received a letter over a year ago stating that this model of vehicle is back in warranty since there seem to be a problem with those vehicle. now i hope i can get this letter to take to the dealer. this happens when the vehicle is in motion.

The engine over heats at high speed for an extended period of time say 70 to 80 mph or going up grades at speed or pulling a small trailer. i have had the jeep checked several times at the dealership and they say everything is fine but this is dangerous to say the least especially in heavy traffic. mechanic said this is a normal complaint on this model jeep! this has been a constant problem since i bought this vehicle new!!!! no photos are necessary! this date is just the last time it has stalled but i was with my wife in heavy traffic which concerned me! for her safety!!

I got up to get ready to go to choir rehearsal my jeep would not crank, and the key was stuck in the switch, it took almost 30 minutes to get the key out, finally the jeep cranked but i could not get the gear to go into reverse, drive or nothing, and on the dash board where it tells you how many miles you have on the automobile it was blinking and also on the dash board it say service transmission.. i have read on your site as i was searching to find out why this is happening, so many of these jeep seem to do this when they reach 40 thousand miles. i am grateful that i was not on the road because the day before this happen the jeep seem to have lost speed ifor a brief moment, this is very dangerous something need to be done about this.

"takata recall". my key keep getting stuck in ignition and my jeep will not go into any gear. it will sometime crank, but it take forever to get the key out. my jeep is still new and it is my own means of transportation. it is at 40 thousands mile. .no matter what i do i can not get it to leave out of park.

Driver was going 70mph when front left tread completely separated from tire causing damage to driver side of vehicle.

2015 jeep renegade limited 4x4 has stalled while driving on 3 separate occasions since purchasing it used from dealership in january 2019. it stalls while in stop and go traffic without any warning. i have to put in park, push the start button to turn it off, and then push the button again with foot on break to start it again. thankfully this has only happened while driving slowly (10-15 mph) in a line of cars towards a stop sign however this is extremely unsafe!

Excessive oil consumption . 30000 miles in the engine and it goes through oil more often than the recommended oil changes. major accident issue, caused by engine stallings due to unexpectedly low oil. engine stalled while driving 65mph on the freeway

My vehicle jerks forward when i accelerate from a complete stop. this also happens most of the time when i am driving 30 m.p.h. or less and try to accelerate. my car will jerk forward and back, then operate normal. my reported this issue with my dealership, but they couldn't find anything wrong and sent me off. i've gone to them twice, and simply gave up, but the issue is still there. i purchased my car in 2015. it's very annoying, but there doesn't seem to be a recall for this issue, although, many customers are experiencing the same thing. same model year (2015), we're all not crazy, there is definitely an issue with the 2015 renegade's transmission.

On the freeway and came to a stop. put foot on gas, and it wouldn't move. this has happened 3 times on the freeway. had to change gear, and restart engine to move.

There’s is no alternative to the windshield and jeep has them on backorder since 2018. it’s been over a month and jeep cannot provide release date. this is a huge safety and visibility issue

The driver side sun visor doesn't stay up. this issue first happened about a year ago. i dealt with it for several months before finally buying a new one. having replaced it once already, i knew this likely wasnt going to be a recall issue, even though thousands of people complain about in jeep forums every year. now, 4 months after replacing it, it has failed again. there are multiple things i dont like about this vehicle, but not being able to see out the windshield while driving because the visor is constantly falling down is a serious issue.

It was working fine then out of no where the transmission light came on and all the emergency lights started flickering. the shift gear won't move and it won't accelerate when its in drive. car shakes when shifting gears.

It started as a wobble type noise coming from the engine compartment a couple days prior. suddenly my check engine light activates and i notice a change in my ac. on my way to detroit my temp gauge reaches max, thus illuminating a red temp warning. i quickly found a pay-to-park lot near my destination. while allowing time for the engine to cool down, i googled my engine light and overheating issue. returning to my vehicle i was able to quickly diagnose a well known issue involving a wobbly cooling fan and a blown 50a fuse. fortunately the night cooled and i was able to return home without ac nor the aid of an operating cooling fan. my stories similar to countless others. i've seen one video claiming a recall fix posted last month. it appears a shield has been added...i believe that'll definitely fix the poorly engineered issue involving the proximity of the fan to the exhaust manifold.

While driving the car speed will shift kind of like from neutral to first and so for. while driving on the street and stopping at a stop sign i try to accelerate the car will but it will not accelerate on time and almost produces a crash. while on the turnpike i try to accelerate but it will not accelerate promptly, it feels as if it gets stuck and then it gives a big kick. while at another stop sign on other days, the car does not accelerate and gives a kick and proceeds to move in a slow motion then give another kick and continue to move. it feels as if the shift shifts on their own and acceleration does not respond on time. another day i was driving with my child in the back seat and i was at a stop sign. it was my turn to go and as i slowly accelerated the vehicle will give a kick and proceed to move slowly. on another instance, i stoped at a red light and when the light turn green i proceeded to move, the car gave another slow kick and eventually decided to accelerate again it does not matter how intense i press on the accelerator it still takes a while for it to respond and avctually starts accelerating. it's been an ongoing problems and am genuinely scared to drive the car for i feel one day it might not accelerate on time on a traffic light or stop sign or on the road. while am parked nd change the shift from parking to drive, the car again gives a quick and then decides to move. it's a scary experience to feel that the car i drive and am.paying for will not accelerate on time while on the road, at a green light, on turnpike while stuck in traffic or while trying to get out of my parking lot.

We purchased our vehicle at approx 23k miles it immediately started shifting hard. we were advised that these vehicles are know to do that so we didn’t pursue the issue! however in july 2017 when on a trip to maryland while climbing mountains and coming down them the transmission would not shift out of 4th gear. on the down side of the mountain when it wouldn’t shift we would have to pull to the emergency lane, put the vehicle in park, turn off for a few minutes and then try to merge into traffic again at 70+ mph. our transmission acted up more than 4 times doing this. i have asked for the dealership to look into it and they keep stating they can’t find anything wrong with it. we live in indiana and the road conditions are not the same however the hard shifting occurs here. we are still under original manufacture warranty at this time. it seems to be a know issue with the 9 speed transmission for the 2015 jeep renegade but nothing has been done or able to be done to fix the issues!

Just bought this used - good condition except that it literally "lunges" forward when you accelerate, typically going from 1st to 2nd gear. there is a definite hesitation between the time you press the gas pedal and the time it takes to move forward. when taking a left turn into cross traffic i have to make sure i have extra time to account for the loss of acceleration.

9 speed autonamic transmission - can shift into neutral with no warning - can cause an accident and even death - i drive everyday in san antonio texas where speed liit is 60 mph to 75mph

Vehicle will randomly accelerate without any input from the gas pedal. this can vary from a short burst of speed and a spudur to a long term acceleration that only stops when applying the break. even when stationary the vehicle will raise rpms considerably wanting to lurch forward if not in park. this issue began to be noticeable around the 25,000 mile mark in my case.

Cooling fan is malfunctioning as many others apparantly have. the engine will overheat if at rest or making frequent stops (city driving).

11/23/2015 vehicle engine malfunctioned, overheated and stopped working while driving on the highway. vehicle had to be towed to dealership. dealership replaced engine and related parts and i picked up on 12/17/15. mileage 2,411 1/1/2016 engine started making a whining sound and the ac stopped blowing cold air. mileage 2,958 9/27/2016 rattling sunroof and transmission was lunging when coming to a stop. 9/14/2017 vehicle overheated while driving turns out was the cooling system expansion tank. 1/22/2019 keyless entry light came on while driving in the city . mileage 25,601 6/4/2019 vehicle overheated and stalled while driving in the city and had to be towed to dealership. turns out ac compressor failed causing additional broken parts.mileage 26,777

My garage has a slight incline. when i put the car in reverse, it jerks back and forth until i apply the brakes. also when it shifts into second gear, i feel a slight hesitation and a hear a clunking sound.

While i was driving on the interstate, going 70 mph, my car stopped running and said there was an error. i had a family member help me load it up and take it to the dealership. they told me that my fuel sensor malfunctioned and showed me that i had gas however my car had no gas. i had to purchase an entire fuel pump since the sensor is integrated within the pump. my mileage was 36,000 now my radiator fan assembly needs replaced as it is going out. i am at 41,000 miles now. i noticed a weird noise coming from the motor area while i was idling. i noticed

I have some 31k miles in the vehicle and it has been given me troubles with the wheels since they aren't inflated correctly. when i take it to the repair shop, everything is good and no nail nor nothing is in the wheel. but when they verify the 'worm' where you inflate the tire it hesiss and it gets bubbly since they verify the wheel with water and soap. it turns out that the valve (worm) has worn out or splitted - from i don't know where. plus now it is happening with a second tire/wheel. when i replace the valve, if its not an original mopar part, the sensor won't recognize it. now i spoke with the tire technician and it indicates to me that it should be a wear off due to manufactures specifications.

Check engine light is on had code read p0481. found cooling fan assembly locked up.

I was making a turn from a stop and vehicle would not accelerate when gas pedal was depressed it took about 5sec for the vehicle to accelerate. it was almost hit by on coming traffic, this has happened numerous times. the vehicle doesn’t shift correctly from a stop and does not accelerate quickly. this will cause someone to be killed.

When idling and sometimes while driving the vehicle radiator cooling fan constantly wobbles and grinds against the shroud.

If you have small children do not load them in this jeep! when accelerating from a dead stop will struggle to get up to speed and sounded like i was rear ended at a high speed. i got out of the jeep to see if something fell off. transmission sounds and feels like its slipping. not every time but it happens so often it has made me feel unsafe and i do not go out of town or long trips over 45 miles away from home. . every time i take it to the shop and ask whats going on they say its how the jeep renegade was made, its normal for it to do all this.

I am on the freeway in traffic at a full stop, and the car doesn't turn off, but it won't move when you put your foot on the gas. makes no noise like it is off. have to put in park and restart the car. it has done this 3 times since i have had the car.

When turning on car all warning lights came on and then each one started flickering one by one. then my transmission light and warning message came on. car would start but locked itself and couldn't shift gears . i tried unlocking it and shifted to reverse it would not accelerate and would get stuck in that gear so had to manually unlock and shift to drive and couldn't accelerate. couldn't turned it off gear shift would lock itself. happened while heading back home. so i took it to the dealership and saw the recall for transmission. they ended up doing something else that i didn't say yes to now they are charging me for it and while my car was getting repaired. they gave me a loaner car, i get in car accident in their loaner car i had insurance but only liability. dealership won't give my car back until i pay in cash a deductible of 2,500 and plus repairs i didn't agree to.

The vehicle will not start at random times. it finally does start again and then throws computer errors. it has also shut down numerous times while i was driving down the road. some of these instances were while i was driving the vehicle and others were after the vehicle was shut off for a short amount of time.

I live off a busy highway in houston, tx. i feel i play a game of chicken each time i attempt to turn out of my neighborhood in my jeep renegade. the transmission hesitates, the engine light may or may not come on. a host of new electrical messages may or many not pop up. i have had lights stop and start working. the car cut off when making a turn as the car is burning insane amounts of oil. it is not the dependable vehicle i had hoped for. i understand some issues however there appears to be a new one almost weekly. i have hired a lawyer to investigate my case s this the absolute worst vehicle i have ever owned. the car jerks like someone is smashing into the back of you when going 15 mph or less. it loses power and hesitates on takeoff. the car suffers from major electrical issues and i feel this is a cash cow for the manufacture to keep owners serving their vehicles on a regular basis. something needs to be done about this. many owners give the same complaints and the same issues, however no one seems to want to listen or hold the manufacture accountable.

Starting from a stationary position, the transmission often has trouble getting into gear. it happens getting into reverse or drive. when i switch from the break peddle to the gas peddle and gently press on it, the transmission often has trouble finding the gear. the has happened while driving also. stopped at a stop sign, i gently press the gas, only to find that my car will not go. it has happened on the highway, while at higher speeds, it tries to shift to a higher gear and it has trouble getting there. it has happened 60-70 times over the last year, becoming more frequent. i had trouble with this the first year i got the car, but they said it was fine. i feel like it’s a safety risk.

When i stop and park the vehicle still rolls in park before completely stopping in park

The ignition when turned off will not release the key. pushing in then out does not release. pulling only does not release. car must be turned on/off several times and you will eventually get lucky. additionally, when trying to start vehicle, key will often not turn in the ignition despite wheel not being locked. again, must put in pull out repeatedly and turn wheel, which is difficult when car is off, and eventually get lucky.

Car stalls while driving. all lights flash on dashboard flash. shifter froze.

Got into jeep to go home from work and i look down the screen is telling me my left signal, parking light and brake light is out. the next day it was working fine. a few days after that it did it again will i was driving this time the little light on the bottom right corner of the screen popped on and caught my attention,so i changed all the bulbs and still nothing so i check fuse it’s good. take to shop and find out the connector shorted out and the wires were corroded. this is a safety issue because had i not been paying attention and had my husband double check and make sure it wasn’t working i may have never found this problem. the first time it happened was tuesday september 3rd and the second time was thursday september 5th

Apx 2 months after purchase car would not start in my driveway. diff codes would appear and it locked up. towed to dealer and battery replaced. while driving and coming to stop on local roads car would feel like rearended and check oil light would come on and service engine icon and car would stall. on diff occasions when trying to start car in my driveway it would either not start or barely turn over and have no accelarition or 3 mph and would not go in reverse. car would stall about 4 blocks from house when i came to stop. transmission replaced and the rear end feeling fixed. car had oil change appt recently and day of appt it would not start and engine light came on. half hour later car started and i took it to dealer. service said problem fixed. week later same problem again. took to dealer and they said problem fixed come get car. service called me and said car wouldnt start for them even tho they fixed it. my car has now been in shop 3 weeks waiting on part. part edt is now 9/11/19. i also had motor mounts replaced and now dealer also says problem with my suspension and that has caused my year old tires to wear thin. no photos to submit. dates car affected approx.

Transmission hesitates so badly going into second gear that i am constantly almost rear ended, and being screamed at by other motorists, especially in traffic. if you're not at a complete stop, it's not as badr. but forget it if you have to stop for over 3 seconds. traffic and parking lot seems to be the absolute worse (if you're keeping it at 15 mph or under it seems. first they replaced the valve body, then 2 trans mounts, all at a cost to me, before they decided to replace the trans. transmission was supposedly "replaced" under warranty, but has only gotten worse. also, now having engine replaced, because it burns 3 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. less than 50,000 miles on this car.

I parked my renegade in a store parking area, came out of the store and restarted my car. the car let me drive 1/4 mile then at a stop light i changed gears and the car would not go into any gear. it will not shift into a gear, including reverse. the clutch pedal works. the car will move in limbo gear slowly if i attempt to drive it. i have no idea what gear or how fast it will go. this is dangerous when driving. i'm glad i was at a stop light when it happened and not while shifting the gears.

The vehicle would go into neutral while driving on the highway and also would make a loud noise when going into reverse. when the vehicle would go into neutral while driving, i would put the shifter back in drive and it would make a loud banging noise of some sort. i definitely don’t feel safe in this vehicle whatsoever.

Key sticking in ignition switch. 2015 with less than 6000 miles on it. stuck once during test drive with salesman onboard. stuck when another salesman moved it for picture taking event. lost track of how many hours and trips to the dealer trying to find a solution. talked to owner,previous owner,business manager,parts dept,half a dozen mechanics and shop associates,and even getting bs from the shop manager. last time he told me the previous owner had no such issue. i asked him if he was suggesting i was a lier! no responds. at that time

I was driving my vehicle when i was getting notifications on my dashboard of different things from torque to transmission. the vehicle then suddenly stalled while i was in the middle of the road. i was at a red light thankfully. i turned my vehicle off/on, then as put the vehicle in drive, i could hear a loud bang and then i drove into a parking lot.

The heat in the vehicle was coming out cold. car began overheating and temperature rose to over 220. car began to overheat. had to pull over on the highway and turn off the vehicle for 25 minutes to allow it to cool. this happened twice. check engine light came on. brought to a mechanic who ran a diagnostic and the cooling fan was failing. mechanic stated when the code was put in the jeep renegade was the first vehicle to pop up. this should be a known mechanical recall. car only has 50,000 miles on it and the fan should not be failing.

The seatbelt on the drivers side is not locking into the latch. it is not clicking into latch to sadly secure the seatbelt around my waist and shoulder.

I was driving on the freeway and my car started losing power then started jerking and shaking the car. i couldn't speed up, i could hear the engine revving up but nothing. i had to pull over and turn off car and start back up, i still couldn't hit 60mph i the freeway so i got off the freeway and took the streets home. when running the car under 30mph the car was fine but once i hit the higher gears my car would shake or just down shift on its on.

Driver's seat belt buckle mechanism broke when inserting seat belt while stationary. no accidents or incidents for this vehicle, poor manufacturing. buckle mechanism does not allow seatbelt to be inserted or locked. upon informing a jeep dealer, they will not replace without full charge for buckle and labor. they stated even manufacturing defects are no longer covered after bumper to bumper warranty is expired. upon contacting chrysler to request for the seat belt to be repaired as this is a safety item and required to utilize the vehicle on any roads; its intended purpose, was denied based on bumper to bumper is only 36 months or 36,000 miles.

Car shifted into neutral from drive. happened while i was exiting starbucks into traffic

The car will turn off while driving, thinking that it is out of gas, when in actuality the car has between 3-4 bars of gas left. no "low fuel" warning light or notification will appear. this has happened to me three times in the past month, once while on the interstate traveling out of town & the car literally started sputtering and cut completely off at 65 mph almost causing a rear end collision with a semi. i have two small children & i do not feel safe driving this vehicle at all, especially with them in the car. i purchased this car in november 2018 & every time the vehicle was low on gas, i would receive a notification & the light would appear. however as i stated previously on three separate occasions the vehicle shut off at 3-4 bars of gas without any notification whatsoever.

1. when accelerating after a very slow crawl or stop, the engine shuts off. no warning lights, no sounds or any indication that its about to shut off. this happens sporadically. 2. when accelerating after a very slow crawl or stop, the vehicle lags and jolts forward. feels like someone has hit you from behind. no warning lights, no sounds or any indication this is about to happen. this also happens sporadically.

Jeep is consistently jumping into gear when placed in reverse. most recently, while at a stop light, with my foot on the break it lung forward! (ungood). while driving, periodically gets stuck in a gear. (?). at least twice, the car has refused to turn over upon ignition engagement. since i have obtained the jeep, anything that has to do with the stereo gives me intermittent signals/sound, inclusive of the usb connections etc. (not a good experience). the driver's seatbelt for some reason occasionally will not latch. something in the undercarriage sounds as if it is going to fall of or break at any time especially when going over bumps or ruff terrain.

Intermittently, the power steering would go out and service airbag light would come on dashboard. after several times restarting the car, the car power steering would continue to go out and light come on. after about 4 hours, the car was turned off on a city street, all running lights and radio stayed on, keys were removed, and car was completely unresponsive to keys, key fab, or buttons on door such as power locks/ windows. car was towed to dealership for service.

Takata recall i was not able to shift my jeep into park. i can not shut it off. i was not able to go to my job. i had to let it run out of gas for it to shut off. because of this i lost my job. i have not been able to make my payment. please help.

The key get stuck in the ignition. this happens more frequently when it is warm out.

When driving if you have to accelerate quickly the renegade will essentially idle and hesitate before jerking forward. happens specifically when having to change gears. has nearly caused an accident numerous times.

When driving the vehicle shifts hard and jerks out of the first 1 to 2 gears.

While backing out of a parking spot, (i had switched the vehicle to reverse and had begun moving), my renegade switched into neutral and stopped backing up. i tried switching back into park and into reverse again but instead the vehicle repeated the issue by going into neutral instead of reverse. i had to turn the vehicle off and restart it in order for the vehicle to operate properly.

I was driving on the highway when my check engine came on. when i pulled off the highway my car started over heating. my fan seized and the car kept overheating.

I was driving on a paved highway at about 50 mph when i felt a slight wobblling sensation that felt like it was coming from the rear of the vehicle. i let off the accelerator and applied my brakes and the vehicle suddenly veered sharply into the oncoming lane of traffic. i turned the steering wheel to get the vehicle back in my own lane and the vehicle veered sharply back toward my lane and started to go off the road. then the vehicle started veering sharply back and forth between both lanes and i had no control with the steering wheel. i had let off the accelerator when it started veering all over the road. at one point the vehicle was turning sideways and i thought it was going to roll over. i was approaching a sharp curve and the vehicle was headed towards a power pole and 3 concrete irrigation boxes. i kept tapping the brakes until the vehicle stopped, running off the road near the power pole, but fortunately did not make impact with the power pole or the concrete irrigation boxes. when i got out to see what happened, the rear driver's side trailing arm was hanging down and was no longer attached to the vehicle. weather conditions were sunny, about 80 degrees and the pavement was dry. no police report was filed since i did not hit anything. i had just met another oncoming vehicle approximately 10 seconds prior to this; had the timing been differently i would have hit them head-on with no way to steer the vehicle to avoid the collision. vehicle was then driven approx. 1 mile to my house at 5-10 mph.

Vehicle was in forward motion making a left turn at a traffic light when the automatic transmission shifted to neutral. dashboard alert came on that the vehicle would have to be stopped before it could be shifted. had to stop the vehicle, shift to park, turn the vehicle off and turn it back on before it would shift back into drive.

Hesitating, rough shifting and stalling. will hesitate so bad when starting from a stopped position, and going into 2nd gear (9 gear trans) that i've been rear ended, in traffic, because my car has essentially stopped. only 41,000 miles. worst is when fully stopped and are only slightly accelerating to about 15 mph. such as in traffic, a parking lot, or turning. has stalled in middle of a intersection while turning. won't restart for approximately 20 mins has been to dealer 3 times. they've "fixed it" each time. have finally approved a new trans

Radiator cooling fan assembly quit working, vehicle overheats when stationary or during city driving.

Transmission may not be working correctly the date is a rough estimate but it has been doing something weird like jumping when you put it into reverse and then drive so another person toliyme it may be transmission recall on it so i’m just checking

Hard shifts in the first few gears ( hard jurks) and also clunks.. when moving shifter into and out of park, nuterual, reverse and drive it clunks.. hesitates to shift when stopped or slow moving. when on highway has alot of dragged has hard time keeping speed and when passing it take the vehicle few seconds to speed up, have to push peddle to the floor and after few seconds it finally speeds up. in cruise control its constantly having a hard time keeping its speed constantly jumping into higher gears to catch up to the set cruise setting. every time i take it to the shop and ask whats going on they say its how the jeep renegade was made, its normal for it to do all this.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep renegade. moments after the vehicle was turned off, it failed to restart. the vehicle was towed to fox chrysler (4100 plainfield ave ne, grand rapids, mi) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump was faulty; however, the part would not available until august of 2019. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,147.

So, i have had my 2015 jeep renegade sport front wheel drive for almost 3 1/2 years. i have had issues with the jerking of the shifting of my car when i drive, this has been going on since summer of 2017, i bought my renegade new february 2016. winter 2017 it started revving too high when stopped at the stoplights or at a stop sign. then at the beginning of november 2018 my check engine light pops on and i took it right away to auto zone so they can run diagnostics and came to find out that my thermostat went out, my car just rolled over 38,000 miles, my warranty was up at 36,000, i had to shell out over $500 to replace that, i'm glad i did because i live in the midwest in the quad city area on the illinois side and our coldest day was 55 below 0. then just today, june 1st, 2019 my radiator cooling fan motor went out all of the sudden. i was at sam's club, turned my car on and check engine light popped on again and it started to overheat and again made my way over to auto zone and they ran diagnostics again and as soon as i got in my car my air conditioning went out and called my mom and told her what was wrong with it, called my dad, then it started to completely overheat and the warning popped up and i called my dad and my older brother took the phone and told me to turn the heater on in my car to draw heat away, it worked and i made it home to port byron, il without having to pull over because my brother told me to turn the heater on and roll the windows down and lots of prayer helped get me home safely.

The transmission of my vehicle has been doing hard shifts and, at times, not shifting at all when the gas petal is pressed which has subsequently has almost caused major accidents. the rpm gauge rotates exceedingly high to the point of the feeling of stalling out before the vehicle actually shifts into gear, especially when in high traffic, stop and go roads such as cities where breaking and accelerating are frequent. when the vehicle does finally shift into gear, it feels as though the back of the vehicle has been hit because it lurches forward in such an extreme and forceful manner. this problem has been complained upon by many 2015 renegade owners and upon bringing the car in for maintenance, are told its “just the way the car is built” or “it’s performing as it’s supposed to”. i believe this is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed and investigated for a solution before harm comes to the occupants or other nearby motorists.

Radiator cooling fan seized up, producing black electrical smoke which consequently caused the vehicle to overheat. this happened stationary on a stop light.

Vehicle shut down after taking a left turn and when stopping at a stop sign.

Information about the vehicle: 2015 jeep renegade sport 2wd, highway miles minimal stop and go, maintenance is on time through the dealership, zero accidents. i noticed a whining sound in the engine compartment while the vehicle was stationary. the temp is typically 198-201 the temp climbed to 223 at highest. while the vehicle is in motion the temp reverts to 198. arrived home, opened the hood while engine was running to duplicate the issue the fan motor started to whine but not move.

Service engine light came on, code p0128, faulty thermostat. seems to be a common problem.

Cooling fan failed around 40,000 mi

I bought this car in april 2018 with 15,000, about a month after driving it started making squeaking noises when i braked, when i brought it in they told me it was fine and that it was possibly a rock. it didn't stop, so i brought it to another dealer who couldn't find the issue, then i brought it back to the dealer i bought it from to get a tire key and they replaced the brakes for free only it didn't fix the problem. when i brake it sounds like metal is crushing together, it is the worst sound and it is extremely unsafe,so i brought it in again, and when i brought it in this last time i made a service tech get in the car with me and he agreed that was not right and then the next day he calls me and says nothing is wrong everything looks perfect. they then tell me they test drove the other renegades in the lot and they all make the same sound when you brake, clearly something is wrong with the vehicle.

My car delays to shift. you can feel this going from reverse to drive or simply trying to pick up speed on roads with high speed limits. or from pressing brake to pressing gas. (not stepping on gas hard) it has jolted many times making it feel as though someone hit the back of the car. this has been an on going issue. but will use the date when my car turned off by itself. my car turned completely off by itself while i was driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep renegade. the contact stated that most of the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel, such as the fuel gauge, oil change needed, and check engine. also, the contact could not unlock the vehicle with the key fob. the vehicle was driven to youngblood auto group (3505 s campbell ave, springfield, mo 65807) where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module needed replacement. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

My vehicle will stop going down the road and tell you to shift to park. then will not crank for several mins after this. this has been happening for several months.took the vehicle into service department and was told they updated the transmission module and here we are several months later with the same issue. this is dangerous and someone could be killed

The rotors wear out but the brake pads are still good it has already wore out 2 sets the brakes grab and stick it jerks you hard right or left.we cant get the company to do anything they act like its our fault. also it sways really bad in the rear end feels like your riding a old mule hobbity-hoe.also the transmission has a delay in shift &shifts really hard.the vehicle only has 44,000 miles. we are going to get hurt in this vehicle and can't get any help.

Cold crank vehicle warms up for about 10 minutes before driving. then puts gear in reverse and the transmission kicks violently. shift in to drive accelerate let go of gas pedal and the transmission kicks again to a lower gear. transmission feels like it take a while to change gears while accelerating

Radiator fan is melting from the heat of the engine. this issue is widespread and there are tons of videos on the internet and complaints? the replacement has a heat shield. sad i have to pay to have it installed.

My check engine light came on and disabled my 4wd. all it needed was a thermostat. they told me anytime the service engine light comes on it will disable the 4wd. it doesn't matter what turns the check engine light on it will disable the 4wd. i tried going through the dealer, jeep, fiat, chrysler. they told me there was a safety issue and it would disable the 4wd. i told them i bought a jeep for it's 4wd capabilities. the check engine light should only disable 4wd if it is a drive train problem. they told me if the weather was bad i should stay home. what good is a 4wd if you can't depend on it. jeep is rated off-road. i can't find any help in this matter. all it needs is a change in the command module.

Won't start - then starts. have replaced battery twice and abs module. no improvement dealer has had a month now with no solution

I bought a 2015 jeep renegade from this dealership brand new. all service has been done at either this jeep dealership or the one in lima ohio where i lived for a brief time. beginning in march of 2018 my vehicle stalled while running with no warning whatsoever. after several minutes it restarted. i took it to the dealership who told me it was because i needed an oil change and because of the change in temperature from ohio to arizona. it then happened again two more times once on the freeway-all again with no warnings. jeep then had my car in august for nearly a month-i was told it stalls due to low oil pressure and to do an oil consumption test meaning i drove it for 1200 miles and then returned it to them. i was then told that my oil consumption is "within manufacturer specifications" so the dealership would not be doing any repairs and that i need to check my oil level at each gas fill up and add oil as needed in between oils changes. this is not in the manual and this car is still under 36,000 miles and until october 30 the bumber to bumber warranty. i was told by dustin the manager of the service department to contact chrysler as they would have to authorize any repairs or changes. i was told by chrysler that there is nothing to fix and given the same recommendation to check my oil at each gas fill up and add oil. this car has no oil light, no check engine light or any warning of any kind before it just stalls while driving. i do not feel safe driving this car and do not trust that this an an acceptable loss of oil and that they can set an expectation that is not listed anywhere in the manual.

Besides the numerous problems i have had with electrical issues, etc. when i bought this new 2015 renegade, i am now on 55,000 miles and the motor fan is going out. when the fan comes on you can hear the bearing grinding which progressively has gotten louder and is impossible to ignore. my best friend bought the same make and model and her fan just went out leaving the vehicle overheated and her stuck on the side of the road. it's not like jeep is not aware of this issue since there are numerous online boards and youtube videos on how to replace the fan if you can't afford the $600+ to have the dealership do it if you are out of warranty. i am just out of warranty and my husband just had bypass heart surgery so our plans to have him replace it are out and i can't afford to have it fixed with his medical emergency so it is parked as i live in a rural area and can't afford for it to strand me on the roadway. this is my 3rd and last jeep. it has been a piece of crap.

Daytime/park running light has blown out 3-4 times since purchasing it in 2015. i have taken it to the dealership to have it looked at and all they do is replace the bulb. i am now out of warranty and the bulbs continue to blow out. i only have 75k miles on this truck. not to mention, i have owned several vehicles throughout my life and i have never had a change a light bulb of any kind on any of my previous vehicles like i do with the renegade. seriously thinking about trading this in for a totally different brand of vehicles altogether.

Jeep is burning oil and coolant between oil changes. need to add oil at least every 2 to 3 week and coolant monthly. no warning lights have ever come on indication the vehicle is low, it has not over heated. have found jeep to be upto 3 quarts low on oil and no coolant in reservoir. no signs of leaking of any kind. have noticed a distinct smell of burnt oil after long drives. when adding oil and coolant today i found a pink frothy residue on all the house joints for the coolant. why am i not getting any warning lights and where are these fluids going to. there is distinct metal sound when the engine is running now. i addressed the oil issue with the deal the last time it was in and i was told i just need to add oil periodically that "all vehicles" periodically need oil. i have never had this issue with any other vehicle i owned.

The fuel filler tube broke off, with minor gas spillage. seemingly impossible then to refuel. had to have a $950 repair/replacement part. obviously problem occurred at the pump.

Several instances of key not releasing from ignition. this is safety issue because you cant leave your car parked in public without risk. supposedly an issue mentioned by previous owners of this vehicle.

The coolant fan went off track and started squealing and getting stuck, causing the fuse to blow. within a month, and after replacing the fuse 3 times, the fan motor stopped working and burnt up completely. attempted to replace it with another fan, and it blew the fuse again and burnt up the new fan motor also. also, within the last month (today being 9/20/2018) my car has been jumping and shaking when in drive mode. mainly occurs after speeds of 40+ mph have been reached and when vehicle has been driven for a longer length of time.

I went out to pick up dinner.i left the vehicle running when i went into the restaurant, came out two minutes later and noticed a really weird rattling/revving sound coming from under the hood. i popped the hood and the whole radiator fan and housing was wobbling and had a terrible electrical fire smell. i was thankfully able to get home,which was only five minutes away, but as soon as i got in the driveway the message "service engine" came onto the screen.i popped the hood again and the fan locked up and is no longer spinning. i see i'm not the first with this issue...can we please get a recall?this is very dangerous.

Takata recall - service airbag light keeps popping up

Was driving on city street when realized that air conditioning had stopped cooling. saw that heat gauge level was completely into the red (highest) reading. message appeared warning that there was a cooling issue. was able to pull into a parking lot and had aaa tow car to a garage. it was found that the radiator motor fan had stopped working, resulting in full replacement of that as well as thermostat. cost was $866.55! online research has shown this is a common issue with this model of jeep.

Driver side power seat blows fuses and it gets stuck in odd positions, it has happened when driving and parked. this is my mother in law's appointment car and me and my wife have the need to drive the vehicle to her appointments as one time she took it by herself and being disabled she always backs the seat to get in and out easier, well the seat got stuck and she had to drive it home like that barely reaching the pedals as no one was available to drive it for her and we were 30 hours away in another state. we moved and have been arguing with the factory and 2 dealerships ever since. also the brakes are always squealing and barely stops the car when hot, they look worn out and glazed, dealer said this is normal for the car.

Driving on interstate when jeep renegade unexpectedly started to cut off. it felt like it was shaking and shuddering. got off at exit and vehicle continued to act like it was going to cut off, especially when stopped at a light or stop sign or when making a turn after stopping. made it home. turned it off and then back on. check engine light on. there was no advanced warning lights on the dashboard prior to the jeep unexpectantly slowing down. there was no burning smell. i had the vehicle towed on monday, august 20, 2018 to jeep dealer in lewisburg, wv. they say it could be a week before they are able to look at it and i am without a vehicle. i wanted it taken to a virginia dealer who could look at it sooner but roadside assistance said the wv dealer was closer.

I've complained about my transmission several times to the dealership and was told that there was nothing wrong with the shifting. palmer dodge said that all it needed was adjusting, but that is not working.

2015 jeep renegade sport 4x4 2.4l 52,000 miles. noticeable fan noise and vibration from electric engine cooling fan, the then vehicle overheated, service engine light came on. service 4x4 light came on, and 4x4 functions failed and could not switch the 4x4 functions. error code:p0481 fan control circuit. failed relay switch. effecting drivetrain failure with the 4x4 system, cooling fan failure, stalling of the vehicle, and engine damage from overheating. this is a serious issue known to the manufacturer and dealerships that needs to be resolved and recalled for the obvious safety issue. cooling fan fuse blown (50amp @ location f05).

Ignition key is hard to remove. vehicle stopped, turned off and can not be taken out of ignition.

Third time my renegade turn off when i was driving at the highway. that makes a discontrol in the transmission. i turned the right to stop hardly. then in about 30 minutes i can turn on the renegade.

The emergency key blade falls out of the key fob. i thought it was my fault for over use but when it happened with my second key fob that i pulled the blade from only once fell out and was lost after one month of use. very poop design. the first time i found the blade in my pocket, the next time it fell out i wasn't so lucky. now i have two fobs with no keys

The radiator cooling fan malfunctioned after just 50,000 miles. vehicle is only 2 1/2 years old. jeep will not cover this under warranty as they say it isn't part of the drivetrain. after reading numerous complaints about this problem on your database i feel this is a known manufacturer's defect that should be recalled. failure can happen at any time and could result in a blown motor and/or other damages resulting in a vehicle crash causing serious injury or death. it's time that the nhtsa acts for the consumer and forces jeep to a recall and replacement of the fan. normal life expectancy of electric fans is well over 5 years/100,000 miles. this particular fan is, in most cases, not even lasting half that time. the problem is so widespread that jeep ran out of them and had/has long wait times. during this period the vehicle is unusable. this is really unacceptable for such a newer model vehicle.

Among other issues, the engine cuts out while driving. this has happened five times to me, and all appear to occur while making turns at low-moderate speed (<30mph); this is the only consistent factor when the engine cuts out (does not appear to be affected by weather or drive/run time). the first time occurred around 30k miles - the engine lost power while making a right turn on local streets. vehicle's display flashed a number of warning lights before indicating "vehicle not in shift to park." electrical system appeared fully functional. i was able to drift to the side of the road and restarted my car after multiple attempts. the service engine light and electronic throttle control warning remained. the next restart removed the etc warning. the service engine light was removed after 4 restarts (with regular driving). i brought the car to the dealership, where they updated a module and i had to pay to clean the etc sensor (it was allegedly "sticky" and triggering a false warning). recently, within the last week, the engine has cut out on me 4 times. the first two instances were back-to-back (one on exiting a roundabout), followed by a right-hand turn @ approx. 37200 miles. in both instances i was in the far-right lane and able to drift to safety. the engine stuttered upon trying to push-to-start but i was able to restart the engine after few attempts. the next morning, "oil low" flickered and "traction control off" lit until engine restart. oil was/is not low. at 37400 miles, the engine died while making a left-hand turn on a 5-lane street at night. at 37450 miles, the engine died in the morning while making a right-hand turn on a main road. all of these instances occurred without any warning (other than "vehicle not in shift to park" after engine cut out) and without loss of electrical systems. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle.

My engine light came on,my a/c blows hot air and on 5/22/2018 my electric e break locked up while i was driving! in the park where i live.

The radiator cooling fan is vibrating itself off. the vehicle had low mileage still- under 45,000. looked it up and there are numerous people with the same issue and apparently the part is back ordered for months, which means i am paying for a vehicle i cannot drive. seems like a manufacturer issue to me. there should be a recall.

The radiator fan is causing the vehicle to overheat. it is breaking due to not having a heat shield on it and it is causing the vehicle to overheat. jeep fixes the problems in the late 2016 models by putting in a metal fan and took out the plastic fan. fear of renegade catching fire. vehicle overheats in the parking lot.

Second incident/ see tracking #11084790. brought car to jim click tucson to have panel on front of roof checked due to concern as panel seemed loose-had just been replaced d/t part coming loose and flying off previously while traveling on the highway. inspected by service manager who documented panel appears warped at front drivers edge. “part is secure.” on way home part flew off while driving on highway at posted highway speed. reported to jeep dealership and called customer service at jeep headquarters. incident reported and given case file number for case review. expressed concern over safety of having this part fly off the roof twice now. this time the part stayed on less than 1 week and we had expressed concern that the part still seemed insecure while at the dealership right after the replacement was done. wind noise and rattling have been ongoing problem with this roof. waiting to have part replaced again. part #068246339-aa

Vehicle refrigerant for the ac cooling system is constantly leaking. i have taken it in for service in june 2017 and was told that there is no leak. service center refilled the refrigerant and less than a year later i am experiencing the same issue with no cold air running through the system. this means the refrigerant leaked into the atmosphere twice due to negligence. whenever the ac component tries to run, whether it is parked or moving, a loud hissing noise is heard coming from the engine compartment.

While driving the vehicle on a highway in az the front panel of the slidingsky sunroof flew off the roof. have been issues with this roof since purchased brand new in nh. had brought it to the dealership at least twice previously for ongoing rattling, incomplete closure and excessive wind noise from this roof. eventually, they supposedly replaced the roof unit but the issues have continued ultimately resulting in this latest issue of the front roof piece literally blowing off the vehicle. it has been brought into a dealership in arizona for repair and we expressed our concern over this potentially being a hazard to other drivers on the toad that could result in injury to others. the dealership expressed no opinion or concern other than they would replace the piece that came off the vehicle

This vehicle has no mechanical parking brake, which would seem to be a violation of cfr-2010-title 49-vo l5-sec 393-41. the electric parking brake is pretty well useless, and necessary since this vehicle has a manual transmission, and a tiny (1.4l) engine incapable of holding the car on a steep hill. error massage about electronic parking brake problems keep popping up, the dealer has been unable to fix it despite many repeated attempts. even when working, it cannot be used to turn the car on snow, ice., etc. as i said: useless.

Takata recall. i have been experiencing for years that the car jerks when i change gears or when i push on the gas to excelerate while on the freeway. also when i turn on my car and change gear it jerks. i can feel the jerks not in motion and when in motion.

At times, my radio has turned off on its own and when i'm on the phone it will disconnect from the bluetooth to my phone multiple times during the call. another issue i'm having is when i am driving, it has fallen dead on me in the middle of the road and won't restart. it's happened at a traffic light and while driving. i've tried turning off my lights, radio, a/c to restart with no luck. each time i've had to get towed home. i have a standard transmission. each time it's happened, i've had fresh oil, gas and a good battery. lastly, sometimes i'll start smelling something like a burning smell as if something is hot or overheating, but i never get a message on my dash. ive also taken it to the dealership and they said nothing was wrong. i don't know what is going on and i got it nov 2017.

Tire pressure system needs service, parking lights out, daytime driving lights out

Initial take off from a parked position, the transmission jerks hard through gears 1-3 in automatic transmission. coming to a stop or slowing down it kicks hard, often times jerking forward and not stopping. turning the wheel left or right, there is a grind or rub within the rack and pinion system. no warning lights on the dash or check engine lights are present.

I was driving home from work. when i got home and parked my car it was immpossible to unlatch the driver's side seatbelt. i was trapped in my own vehicle. the situation forced me to slide out beneath the seatbelt, almost slipped to the garage floor. i feared that if in any type of energency like a fire or mudslides, etc., i would have been trapped by the seatbelt.

Sun visors will not stay up on both sides.

A loud wobbling sound was noticed from the engine bay of the vehicle. investigation of the sound revealed the radiator cooling fan to be vibrating violently while engaged. shortly after this discovery the fan failed to engage. vehicle was taken to steve landers jeep located at 401 colonel glenn plaza loop little rock, ar 72210. the diagnosis was confirmed to be the radiator cooling fan had failed. the vehicle was out of original manufacture warranty at 54,600 miles. fan was replaced at the dealership at my expense.

When turning or veering at semi-low rates of speed (15-35 mph), traction control light flashes repeatedly and all power to accelerator is lost for about 5-10 seconds. this has repeatedly put me in extremely dangerous situations. despite taking it to the dealership and finding many others have this same issue, dealer claims nothing is wrong and said problem was fixed after a refresh update for both computer systems. it is definitely not fixed as it happened today and i was almost t-boned in an intersection. only has 23,120 miles on it and still under jeep warranty. this began a month after purchase.

Transmission shift to neutral unexpectedly for few seconds or when is on low speed. it's scary. second problem, gps lost frequently direction or report wrong position. also 911 is not working

Vehicle jerked hard and immediately lost propulsion while driving 73 mph on interstate. was able to coast to a stop at a rest area, engine light came on, car shut off. would restart for a few seconds and die again. when trying to start it a message showed up saying to stop the car when shifting gears, the car was in park and not moving. parking brake light came on without applying it, took several attempts to get it to go off. roadside assistance had it towed to closest jeep dealership. car started for them the next day and they said no codes showed up and that the car stopped because it was low on oil and 200 miles past time for an oil change. said this was a feature of the car -if it was low on oil it would just die so it couldn't be damaged by driving it with low, or no, oil, and that no warning light would come on. they changed the oil, pronounced it fixed and i got it back. 3 days later i was driving home on a hilly, windy, 2-lane road, 25 mph, the car again lost propulsion, this time without jerking first. i was able to coast downhill to a wide spot in the road and stop. when the engine light came on and a "service engine" message appeared. called my husband, when he got there we restarted the car and it was shaking like crazy and sounded like a bunch of heavy metal objects were being tumbled in a metal drum. called roadside assistance and the car was towed to the same dealer as before. after 2 days they called me and said that it needed an engine wiring harness, cam shaft sensor, crank shaft and spark plugs, plus the diagnostic check. wanted me to pay for the work. called my extended warranty company, they said it had to be towed to the dealership where it was purchased since it was less than 40 miles away, so it was towed there. still waiting to hear from original dealership as to what they think the problem is, today is the 4th day they've had the car.

Takata recall there are multiple electrical problems occurring with the vehicle, along with mechanical problems and the car is used to commute to work and home. these issues have never occurred with any other new car we have purchased from a lot. i feel unsafe driving the car with my family unsure of what other problem may occur.

Engine hesitates when trying to accellerate from just stopped to 30mph and gear feels like it is in a lower gear than it is even though it is an automatic. dashboard completely flickers all areas of operation until finally showing mph. when i purchased vehicle brand new, it had to be towed into dealer next morning. dealer stated battery was dead and needed charged as well as there being little to no oil in vehicle. i have never encountered this with a new vehicle before. also the mesh from the passenger door is separating from the handle as of 1 week from purchase.

Transmission did not shift into gear after making a turn and returning to the gas pedal , did not shift into gear going up a hill, souding like it went into downhill assist on flat ground, rolls backwards after parked or clunks when going inot reverse also slams into first at time after take off . heated seats turn doen or off after 25 min, heating stearing light will be on and wheel is cold, radio chamges chhanells or volume when controls arent being used, remote start doesnt always work car has been to dealer several times for repair and still not fixed and have not returned my calls to bring it back now at 36500 miles since they have not called back. problems started around 6000 mile mark

This transmission has been acting out of sorts since about 6 months old. its shifts slowly sometimes, i can fell a vibration in my foot when it on a pedal. it often stays in gear without shifting, often has a rough shift. i have asked the dealer several times to look at it they always say they detect nothing

Vehicle cuts power while turning and trying to accelerate at low speeds, such as while driving through an intersection. this has happened multiple times while accelerating from a stop light and making a left/right turn, or pulling out of a driveway into traffic. symptoms are that the vehicle stops accelerating, loses power and slows to a stop for 5-10 seconds despite having the accelerator pedal consistently pushed. i have been almost hit when this occurs. it possibly has to do with the traction control system turning on inadvertently, since it occurs usually with uneven pavement. dealership states they cannot find anything wrong with the transmission and have performed several software updates to no avail. this is the fiat 9 speed automatic transmission.

There is a power surge at times and majority of times there is a "lull" of power at take off. upon departure at a stop light, there is hesitation when gas is applied so you have to heavily apply gas. other times you go to park and come to stop then the car surges before placing in park. i have reported this to my dealer since purchase several times since march 2018 with no resolve. they state no recall and nothing shows up when testing it. vehicle still

Transmission hard shifting into 1st 2nd and 3rd that causes vechile to slow drastically then lunge into gears.

Thermostat check engine light is on and need replacing and car has less than 54000 miles on it..while car was in motion.

Car was sitting idle with family in it and air conditioner on. car began to smell like burning rubber and cold air turned warm and humid. radiator fan failed. blew 2 fuses. needs to be replced after only 27000 miles.

On 2 occasions the emergency parking brake would not deactivate. after numerous restarts and waiting the parking brake released.on both occurrences the parking brake lever did not respond nor did putting it in gear . the jeep renegade is a manual shift and both of these occurrences the vehicle was parked in a shopping center parking lot.

Multiple times since owning this vehicle the past 7 months, i have had to get 3 oil changes and top off the oil many times in between, which is much more than the manual states is necessary. this vehicle burns through or loses oil too quickly, which causes the vehicle to turn off while driving (in motion) which is a huge safety concern. it often turns off going up or down hill, and after or mid turn (what little oil is remaining shifts) on city streets. my car has turned off itself in the middle of traffic more than a dozen times. sometimes it takes a couple minutes before it will turn itself back on. like mentioned, this has occurred more than a dozen times since may 2018 (purchased vehicle in march 2018). between 10/29 and 10/31, it occurred 9 times. if necessary, i have documentation of the frequency of service needed.

The vehicle switched gears on its own, couldn’t recognize when i tried to put it in park or any other gear, and stalled out on me. now shows that the power steering needs to be serviced.

Indicator light for right turn signal out, left turn signal out, daytime running lights out, brake light out and parking lights out cycled while the car was in motion. all lights are working properly. turned car off and back on again, all lights disappeared. researched that other renegades have had this issue, but only 2017 models were recalled.

Bought my jeep brand new 2015 jeep renegade in october 7,2015. my radiator fan is not working and the car is starting to over heat. at first kept hearing a loose dragging noise before leaving to the store from my house and i poped the hood open of my car and i saw the fan not working to cool the car down when the temperature of the car was going up. so i called the dealer to make an appointment for monday for them to check out the cars issue. my car only has 31,000 miles. i have also taken my jeep to the dealer this same year for them to replace the thermostat. my check engine light is now on. this should be recalled it’s not safe and it’s dangerous for any vehicle to operate with any malfunction in the engine compartment especially for a brand new car not even 5 years and the radiator fan is already broken.

After stopping, the transmission has trouble catching on. the car jolts forward and it doesn't feel safe at all. if i ever bring it up to my dealer or a mechanic, they say it's just a jeep problem. they have done nothing to fix it. i'm worried there might be a bigger issue with the transmission. i have had several of my friends who also own a renegade have this problem.

The 9 speed transmission shifts roughly and hesitates when shifting from 1st to 2nd to 3rd gears. this is mainly when cold. it is somewhat better when warm. the shifting at times makes the car hesitate as it accelerates. can make drivers nervous that they will stall. dealerships have software updates, but the results are marginal. i bought the car used this past may. i had the update done. i have about 24000 miles.

My car started running hot while on the road. i was able to get to auto mechanic and they found radiator cooling fan has locked up. needs to be replaced after only 60,000 miles, 3 year old car. this is dangerous problem if i were on a long road trip. please recall vehicle for this problem since it seems very common.

In my driveway. i love behind my mom and when i stop to talk with while she is in the yard and leave my car running when i go to take off the emergency brake comes on and stops me. going down the highway and stop at stop sign or red lights or just stuck in stop and go traffic when i go to take off the transmission either jerks real hard or makes the car feel like i have been hit from behind. cooling fan has already been replaced when the vehicle wasn't 2 yrs old.

Fan stopped working causing car to overheat and smoke while idle. cannot drive the car. also have had a problem with the day time running light blowing out. had the light fixed three times in a few months and blew a fourth time. took it to the dealership every single time and it's currently out bc they obviously don't know how to fix it so it's a waste of time.

Brakes, pads and rotors were functioning properly at 57k oil change/tire rotation, multipoint inspection at jeep dealership. at 63k right front brake pad, shoe & rotor completely worn, rotor damaged, all beyond use, and require immediate replacement. left front brake pad, and shoe are not worn, but because of the pressure from the other wheel, need replaced. screeching sound when letting off the brake continues after both sets of front brake pads, shoes, & rotors are replaced. fan assembly is lose and hitting other components, unfixable. fan has to be replaced. . vehicle top and interior began creaking at 50-60k miles as if unevenly supported by shocks/cv joints/something within the brake/axle/strut/shine/cv/ball joints. popping noise comes from exterior front when starting out. letting of the brakes from after a stop or after being parked makes a grinding noise as if creaking under pressure. also engine light intermittently on, thermostat error but not consistent or able to be rectified by dealership. cabin temperature, engine temperature, and thermostat functioning normally. issue remains u resolved. harsh braking is a security concern.

Vehicle shifts very hard. when shifting into drive jumps forward and similarly jumps back on reverse. vehicle was stationary in a parking lot went from park to reverse and applied a slight amount of gas, vehicle shot backwards causing me to sharply turn the wheel to avoid a collision. similarly, when first placing vehicle in drive going around 15 miles an hour vehicle will jump forward noticably.

The driver seat belt has been replaced twice, both times for broken clasp which holds the buckle in placed once you "click it". both times occurred prior to starting the car. the right rear passenger seat belt was replaced after the retractor mechanism failed, which left the passenger unable to tighten their seatbelt. this occurred while the vehicle was in motion at highway speed. the rear center seatbelt was installed improperly from the factory, had to be removed and re-installed.

Radiator fan makes rattling sound while stationary and while driving. very loud and causes car to overheat when ran for any extended period of time.

The drive train failed while i was driving. a noise occurred (like a click) while i was driving on a highway (roughly 50 mph) and a warning appeared on the screen to service the transmission immediately. the transmission became unresponsive for 2 minutes. i could press the gas and the engine would rev but no forward movement occurred. another click occurred and then i was able to move forward but the car was stuck in 2nd gear. after 30 minutes of idling on the side of the road, the transmission was then again fully responsive.

Ongoing issue, but today i got in my jeep and once again my vehicle is showing the transmission and check engine lights, when i attempt to put it in gear it goes out of gear and into neutral.. on top of that i’ve been having issues where the power steering light will come on while i’m driving. making it difficult to turn/ maintain vehicle control. i experienced problems such as the car “jumping hard into gear” as my husband puts it; along with it taking off really fast, it’s also been sounding really loud and shaking when it reaches speeds upwards of 65 and refusing to change gears from time to time... however we have experienced a number of instances where the jeep has changed its own gears starting only a few months after purchasing causing it to move into the porch and cause some cosmetic damage, this was our first recording of the issue. we took it in and they “updated the cpu” and it worked ok for a few weeks but has continually returned to having these faults and has only began to worsen.. since then we’ve had to regularly go in for “updates” regarding the same issues and miscellaneous issues such as power locks/power windows not responding and the transmission overheating.. just last year, literally 1 year and 1 day ago while getting on the interstate the car began to start its “death wobble” and drivers rear axel snapped, causing the front to follow.. my kids were in the car with me and while waiting 2 months to have fixed and paying the deductible for something that was jeeps fault, here we are again having the same problems.. i have found several instances of others experiencing these issues and not only fear for my children’s life’s, but also fear for the safety of others on the road. can we fix these issues, or at least supply me with a viable vehicle??

The vehicle has started shifting really hard and hesitates at times when need to take off quickly for example turning left with oncoming traffic and it hesitates before shifting which is dangerous. i have had it to the dealer twice within 2 weeks. the first time they said it was update related and they updated and reset everything. it is just as bad or worse now and after the second time they stated they can feel the issue when they are driving it but because the computer shows nothing wrong there is nothing they can do. so i will be driving the jeep until it causes an accident. the dealer says it needs a new transmission but have to have more warnings/alerts or an incident before chrysler will approve it. they also stated this is normal activity for this type of vehicle and that it "works" better after it warms up a little. i have had the jeep for almost two years and the last couple of weeks is the only time i have had this issue.

The seal between the window and the top of the driver door has been replaced twice by the dealer. the seal continues to crack allowing wind and water to enter the cabin. the sound is loud enough to drown out the radio and is distracting. this occurs while the vehicle is in motion.

The jeep has been taken to an authorized dealer 3 time for the same problem. the renegade when reaching speeds of approximately 30 miles per hour produces the same sound as running over rumble strips. the sound can get very loud making it difficult to hear what is going on in the surroundings (horn, siren, etc). the authorized jeep service station has been unable to locate the problem but acknowledges they can hear the sound. this issue has been reported on several jeep renegade forums, stating the warrantied differential was required to be replaced, they deemed this ‘not necessarily the problem’.fca has been informed of this issue and seems to think it poses no safety concern. this is a 9 speed auto transmission.

When transitioning from a stop into traffic on a dirt or slippery road the traction control warning lights come on but the car sends no power to the any of the 4 wheels. it just stops. in order to go you have to take your foot off the gas and try again to move. extremely dangerous when pulling into traffic.

When accelerating from a stop into traffic the car will not always accelerate. the engine revs but it's like it's not in the correct gear. you never know when it will happen. you have to take your foot off the gas and let it regroup and try again. other times it will do the exact opposite and surge ahead. this is extremely dangerous. numerous software updates for the 9-speed transmission have done nothing to help.

This 2015 jeep renegade began having a thumping noise coming from under the hood. after seeing that it was the cooling fan, i took measures to get the car to the dealer to get it repaired. before that happened, the fan went out completely. the vehicle is 2 years old, has 41, 000 miles on it and is still covered by the extended warranty. i was told by southpoint chrysler dodge jeep (who i purchased the vehicle from) that they cannot obtain the part, and they refused to open a claim with the extended warranty company so that i could get a rental car. the extended warranty company will not provide me with a rental car because the dealer will not start the claim process. right now my jeep is at the dealer, who was happy to inform me that if i drove it off the lot and it overheated, my 100,000 mile power train warranty would be void. after contacting fiat chrysler, i still have not obtained any kind of relief. i have a $25,000 car that is basically a brick. i have an extended warranty that is worthless. the administrators of the extended warranty contract actually suggested using aftermarket replacement parts, which would void my power train warranty. the cooling fan issue is a common problem with the 2.4 liter tigershark engine.some owners have experienced their cars catching on fire when the fan melts. fiat chrysler knows it is a problem, yet thousands of these tigershark equipped cars are experiencing this problem. it should be a recall issue but they are avoiding responsibility.

Dealership confirmed clutch failure at 28k miles. car was operating completely normal and the clutch failed on highway while the car was in driving in 5th gear. car does not accelerate or go in reverse in any gear. this is another in a series of issues with this car. electric issues and a/c issues in 2016. took to dealership 3 separate times to resolve issue.

The cooling fan "burned out" on my 2015 jeep renegade. on november 4, 2017, i was traveling i10 e bound from houston, tx to rayne, la (3 hr drive) to attend my younger brother's wedding when the check engine light came on and my car ran hot. luckily for me i was at the exit ramp to get to my parent's house when it happened. i got out of the vehicle and i saw, and smelled smoke. i then called my dad (who literally lives a minute or less from where i was) for him to come and check out what was wrong with the vehicle. he looked under the hood, fluids were all in tact, nothing seemed out of place, he basically couldn't see what was wrong with it. he then started the car and watched the temperature gauge and noticed that it hadn't spiked up so he drove it off the exit and home. the car sat all night and wasn't driven again until the next day when my dad drove it to advanced auto. the employee connected the machine to check for errors but nothing came back. my dad started the engine again, looked under the hood and noticed that the fan wasn't spinning. he checked the fuse for the fan, noticed the metal piece inside had split, so we bought another fuse. put the fuse in, started the engine and a second later the fuse popped and smoke appeared. i've called several cdjr places between louisiana and texas and they're all telling me that it'll take up to 4 months before the part comes in and get fixed because it is on back order. it is frustrating for me because this is my only source of transportation. obviously this should be considered a recall if this many people are having the same issue since i can't get it fixed within the next 4 months and i've been quoted $600+ to get it fixed.

Cooling fan is bad. housing comes loose and fan hits other parts on the vehicle causing it to overheat and smoke. this is a known issue with no recall! have been told that the part has been on back order for months! now vehicle is out of warranty.

Twice in two weeks, while driving, the engine has shut off. the first time is happened was on october 29th, 2017 and the next time was this morning november 9th. the first time happened on a city street while slowing down to make a left hand turn, and the other happened with the foot on the gas trying to merge onto i-90 from the ogden on ramp. the radio and interior electrical systems continue to work, but the engine has shut off. turning the key won't just turn on the car again. you have to hold it in the on position a few times for it to finally turn on.

Transmission slips at (jerks) at 8 mph every acceleration from a stand still and when accelerating, service rep at dealership said he can feel it as well, but no codes come up when placed on machine. chrysler states transmission runs as designed. the only way to not feel the lag is to gun the gas from a stop. taken vehicle in twice, first told a service bulletin was issued for the problem, said computer software needed update. didn't work, as soon as i pulled out of dealership, problem remains. second trip, they said they can do anything about this because of no-codes. (same problem is all over the internet from other consumers)

The 9-speed transmission on my 2015 jeep renegade slips out of gear and slips into neutral on its own. it also doesn't shift down into lower gears quickly enough when needing a burst of speed to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. this issue has slowly been getting worse over the past year. this issue typically arises when driving in the city and needing to make left turns quickly, it also happens when slowing down at a red light and the light turns green and you step on the gas.

On october 12th the car started making an odd noise driving in the city (never off road). i didn't drive it again until october 14th and it was making the noise again. we were trying to drive to the dealership but the car started smoking near the engine compartment and we drive it to my mechanic. he said the fan had stopped working. we called the arrigo dealership in fort pierce who said i need a fan assembly unit and needed to pay $263 upfront. the part is on backorder and should take 1-2 months but may be longer. once it is delivered it would cost $260 for labor. since my car has 49,000 miles on it and the warranty ended at 36,000 the repair isn't covered and no loaner car will be provided. also, do not drive the car to prevent engine damage. what? so my mechanic called around to find the part elsewhere. he spoke to schumacher jeep and the service department said it is a know issue and asked my mechanic if he would like to be put on the waiting list. when he asked how long the waiting list is, the gentleman replied there are approx 4700 parts request before us and there is no eta at this time it could be 1-4 months. this is utterly ridiculous. when i search the net, there are soooooooo many similar issues and jeep is saying this is not a recall. have you seen this site? http://www.jeeprenegadeforum.com/forum/434-problems-issues/68882-radiator-cooling-fan-issue-thread.html

I was driving down the highway, speeding up to reach the 70 mph speed limit, when suddenly my car stalled out and began decelerating. the check engine light came on and the warning "service electronic throttle control " flashed across the screen. the car continued to decelerate so i pulled over and restarted the car.

Transmission issues - hesitation at acceleration & surging or hard shifts

When i'm driving my vehicle will not speed up. i press on the gas and it keeps going at the same speed. when i brake it pulls, like if i was repeatedly pressing and letting go of the brakes. the wheels have worn out twice, having had new cars before and driving the same roads and distance i know this is not normal. i have fixed my breaks once wich is unusual for how new this car is and now my breaks are making squeaking noise.

The radiator fan has gone out for the third time and the part is on national recall. the fan was first replaced at about 38,000 miles after failing. the part failed again at about 67,000 miles. i took to the dealership and, after several days, was informed that the part was on national backorder and that they could not guarantee that i would receive a part in the next shipment in about a week and they did not know when more would be available. this is my only car. i found a universal fan that was compatible and had it installed in early september. yesterday, the fan failed again and wiring leading to fan has melted. parts are still on national back order. the first time the part failed (previous report filed), i was driving at about 35 mph. the second time was on the highway and the third time, the car was in park and idling and had been for about 10 minutes.

The coolant fan is bad and they know about it now i have to be with out my car for over a month because i have to wait for new design one from paris

My 2015 jeep renegade has 43k miles on it and i am on my 3rd transmission, my radiator electrical fan has gone out twice, inside dash flashes warning lights like rear brake like not working, head lights not working, plus the car has shut off twice will driving.

My jeep renegade overheated and broke down on 8-1-17, more than 4 hours from our home. we had to get the jeep back to where we lived and the dealer let us know it was the coolant fan. they let us know it was on a major back order and there was no estimated time for this to be rectified. we are now in september and still no parts to fix my jeep that i am paying a payment for and is under warranty. jeeps should recall this part and honor their warranties and make good on these car notes.

Audible radiator fan wobble noticed 9/22/17. opened hood to see fan clearly out of balance/wobbling violently in housing. fan stopped functioning 9/24, spiking coolant temperatures and triggering check engine light. code read as p0481 obd-ii trouble code: cooling fan 2 control circuit malfunction. replaced relay and checked wire connections to verify issue lies with fan. issue spans across 2015-2016 renegades, parts on backorder with 4000-7000 waiting nationwide, not an isolated instance.

My radiator fan assembly was vibrating while the engine was running. it has now failed. the part has over 4000 back ordered with no eta available.

Rotors have grooves, brake pads are chipping , and caliper is becoming loose.

Radiator fan shorts out causing a possible fire risk. mechanical burning smell filled the car .

Upon starting the ignition, the engine cooling fan (directly behind the grill), began shaking and wobbling loudly. it was taken to the dealership and it began smoking there as well. there is a back order on the replacement fan and it is apparently a common problem from what we were told. we have about 34,000 miles on the vehicle.

I was driving and started to smell burn rubber. then the engine light came on. i took the car into the shop. the dealership said the radiator fan assembly seized up and will not rotate any longer. apparently, this is a problem with renegades and the parts are on national back order. no eta was given for when there would be parts available.

Vehicle purchased new may '15. began jerking/lagging in three lowest gears. is automatic 9 speed. taken to dealership multiple times for "updates," but problem persisted. at approximately 40k miles the transmission was replaced. at approximately 50k miles transmission again began jerking/lagging in the three lowest gears. currently at dealership for the 7th time for same issue that they're unable to correct. it's dangerous when you're pulling out of an intersection and the transmission lags. sometimes it does this worse when it's cold, and other times it's worse when the engine has warmed up. also my mpg have dropped significantly since the transmission issues began.

Vin # [xxx]. bought brand new 2015 jeep renegade latitude 2wd. brought jeep into jeep dealer in poway, ca., due to empty radiator reservoir & clutch smoking issues. jeep in poway, ca told me everything was fine. brought jeep in for the second time at the jeep dealer in poway, ca due to empty coolant reservoir again & jeep replace reservoir. brought jeep in a 3rd. time in poway, ca & jeep dealer replaced freeze plug & water pump. brought jeep into poway, ca jeep dealer a 4th. time & dealer replaced long block & clutch. all of this was within 23,000 miles. told jeep poway, ca. on 9/4/17 that the clutch still has a smoking issue & they told me it was driver error even though they admitted to me the clutch used on the renegade is not that great of quality! the clutch smoking is a safety issue. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

While sitting at a stop light, smoke began to come out from under the hood and the check engine light came on. i pulled over as soon as came to a parking lot. the radiator cooling fan had melted and was smoking. the vehicle has 40,813 miles on it, and this is covered under the extended warranty. the issue is that there are no replacement parts available from the manufacture. the dealer has another one just like mine that has been there for over a month for the same issue.

While stuck in traffic on the freeway moving less than 10mph, when i try to accelerate the transmission will make a load bang and the car will jolt like it was rear ended. this has happen within the first month of getting the car and has happen off and on since. i tried to explain to the dealership but have yet to get a response back. i'm afraid it will damage my transmission or gearbox.

The radiator cooling fan is defective. the motor is burnt out. while driving the fan started to make a loud noise and i began to smell smoke from the vent. the cooling fan will no longer turn on to cool the engine risking the engine overheating and damage to the engine. the trouble code is p0481. chrysler has stated the cooling fan is on back order. this has become an issue for renegade owners. you can simply type in 'radiator cooling fan' in the renegade forums and you will see that many owners are experiencing this issue and multiple dealers have stated the fans are on back order. chrysler needs to resolve this issue. thank you.

The vehicle was parked in a parking lot but running. the ac stopped blowing cold air. i turned the ac off and back on and the cold air wasn't working. i then smelled a burning smell. that's when i noticed the vehicle was starting to overheat. i had the vehicle towed to the dealership the next day. two days later they identified that the problem was the fan module and that the part was on national back order and it might be a week, month(s) before the part came in. i was told that this was happening a lot with this model vehicle. the folks that spoke with me have be friendly but this needs to be addressed if the jeep renegades are having this problem. it's not safe and really inconvenient, especially when your a single vehicle family.

I was driving my jeep renegade when it started to make a loud clanky noise. i immediately drove it to the jeep dealership since i was very near one and immediately a service technician said to turn car off because it was going to over heat. i was told it is the radiator cooling fan that is bad. they don't know when the vehicle will be able to fixed since the part is severely backordered since this seems to be a very common problem occurring with similar jeep vehicles. i asked if this is such a common problem why there isn't a recall. i read many complaints in jeep forums and blogs of people having same problem and cars actually overheating and almost catching on fire. very dangerous situation to be in. my car is sitting at the dealer with an unknown timeline to get fixed and coming out of pocket for a rental. unacceptable to be put in this kind of risk if it is a common problem. recall needs to be initiated.

The radiator fan is messing up. moving around in the engine and not working most of the time. the temps in the engine are going higher than they should beucase the fan is failing.

The fan assembly (68360299aa) in the front of my engine stopped working while i was on the interstate. this causes a chain reaction that killed my resistor (68247207aa) and relay (4727370aa). without these parts operating, my engine quickly overheats. after taking my renegade to the dealership i was informed that the fan assembly is on back order until december 2017 and they do not have an eta.

At just under 48k miles, radiator fan gave out. under normal driving conditions on a city street, the ac began to blow outside temperature air and service engine lights came on. troubleshooting the following day revealed that the fan was no longer working and engine risked overheating. seems to be a continuously reoccurring issue since the part is on back order for 4 months for the 2.4l 9-speed renegade.

On occasion when making either a left or right hand turn, the traction control light flashes and the engine loses power. all acceleration to the vehicle stops and will not resume until you release the gas pedal. the issue started in march of 2016 and continues till this date, 7/27/16

I have had a "service in 30 days, i'm now on 6 days" and i have been to 2 different dealers to have the service message removed from when i start the jeep but the message never goes away, i have had the service done twice now to get the message to go away but it never does, the date just goes down and i have no way to remove the message, and apparently dealers can't either, what happens when i hit day 1 or beyond? when will i know my vehicle needs service next if the light never turn off to begin with on a new vehicle?

At 1040 miles while going up a 7% grade in 100+ degree temperatures. the transmission down shifted and immediately lost power then began 'lunging'. display showed "place vehicle in park prior to selecting a gear". after waiting several minutes restarted vehicle but as soon as it needed to shift it would do the same stall out. this exact behavior also occurred on the same section (within 2 mi) of highway at the following odometer readings: 4811, 5202, 28928, 29580 and 29623. common rpm's are around 3500 but varies somewhat each time and usually between 50-65 mph. the car is being driven in full automatic mode and is unresponsive if attempting to switch to manual mode once it starts. cruise control was only used the first time. i quit using it after that in case there was any relation to the shift selections. the gap in the mileages indicate the almost almost 3 months that the dealership had the vehicle and the time that i did not experience the problem- cold months only. many of the occurrences are with days of each other and or after picking up the vehicle. the vehicle also experiences extremely hard low speed shifts (from a light or stop sign). the stretch of highway i drive daily is very busy and a main corridor from the neighboring city to my rural town. it is dangerous to suddenly drop "back" on speed so dramatically.

Tires installed are not specific for on/off road driving. according to tire manufacturer, goodyear sr-a 215/65/r17 are highway tires and not for off roading.

2015 jeep renegade: vehicle shifts hard; like a canon. took vehicle in to dealer and they said it just needed an update. problem still not fixed. vehicle makes a ringing sound like a phone when at highway speeds of 65 miles per hour. vehicle rattles a lot especially in the speaker areas and also the driver side seatbelt area. when i took it in to the dealer to have them figure out the rattles they said that they could not find it. the seats do not heat up well. when it is turned on high, it feels like it is on the low setting still. when the steering when is being turned at any speed it makes a creaking sound.

The passenger seat will not always activate the airbag sensor when a person is seated, it will activate when a lunch bag is placed on it. the seat belt alarm on the passenger front seat does not always work. the vehicle under normal speeds have been alerting that the vehicle is overheating and slows down attempting to shut the engine off causing the danger of a crash to possibly happen. the dealership is unable to replicate any of the issues described, and has stated that the passenger must gain weight to activate the sensor.

Engine failed while driving on freeway.

My wife purchased new, 2015 jeep renegade latitude from don davis chrysler, arlington, tx on or about 01/23/2016. front windshield began to crack with no impact damage about middle of march, 2016. i took jeep to don davis. they inspected the crack which began in the center of the windshield at the point of the windshield mounted defroster and confirmed that this was a warranty defect. at that time, they sent photos of the break to jeep and ordered a replacement windshield. the service department confirmed that the replacement costs, if they had not been covered by warranty would be about $1,300. several weeks passed without any further communication from don davis. when the dealership confirmed that the replacement still had not arrived, i contacted jeep customer service by telephone and explained the issues. the service representative had no record of the problem, and took my verbal information. i next met with the dealership service manager. after showing me that he had notified jeep and requested the replacement, he again took additional photos and had me remain while he confirmed that the part was ordered. by this time, the crack extended to about three inches from either side of the end of the windshield, a change of about 5" to 6" on either side from when i first met with the dealership about this problem. chrysler had sent a defective windshield as a replacement. the dealership returned it and after several months now, we are still without a new windshield. i am greatly concerned that my wife or i may be driving on the freeway, especially if we have our seven year old grandson, whom we are raising, riding with us and the windshield cracks as result of debris or simply because it will no longer retain support with such a long, 42" horizontal crack. other owners have made similar complaints on the internet.

While driving, there was a loud pop, the vehicle then lost power, the engine compartment caught fire, then the fire consumed the entire vehicle.

Car has previously stalled when accelerating and had continuous hard shifting causing increased panic attacks and anxiety two military vets. also car has difficulty braking and has stored "failure to brake" code. car has now been seen 3 times for transmissions issues and twice for braking issue. current stored codes: c1431 u1001 u010 c2208 c2209 c221b u2003 u2004 u1700 dealerships states, "could not duplicate concern"

Jeep had 628 miles on it when driving home speedometer went to 0 had no power manage to pull of the road smelled gas look around and found gas leaking from the bottom of the jeep needed to have it towed. leaked a lot of gas all the way to the dealership and after they unloaded it. told it was a fuel fitting and need software updates. i am sure glad it was at night with no traffic and not on the highway who no's what could have happed.

Forward collision warning inadvertently and randomly turns off, as does back up camera and camera guide lines. additionally, 911 and uconnect randomly are showing, indicating a malfunction. seven trips to dealer have not corrected, including dealer contacts with manufacturer (work orders on file). shutting off engine and restarting sometimes corrects the vehicle's issues. first stop with dealer to correct-11/15/2015 (vehicle purchased in october). most recent stop with dealer 4/8/2015

Door locks do not work. i tried locking it using both key fobs to no avail. i also tried pressing the lock button on the door also does not work. all along i thought the locks were working but apparently you hear the chirp and the lights will flash but the doors do not lock. now i have to lock everything manually. car has less than 4000 miles on it purchased brand new.

When using "autostick" to downshift the 9-speed automatic transmission the computer "unloads" the drivetrain and at times it feels like the car is being shot out of a canon. this is worst at higher speeds, when towing, and on downgrades. it happens when shifting from 8 to 7 and 5 to 4. the dealership told me that the car is operating "as designed" so they can't do anything. the other fix is a software update but i've gotten all available and the problem persists. jeep has the same attitude. when using autostick to downshift from 5 to 4 on a 9% downgrade the car speeds up from 45mph to 50 mph during the 2 second shift. then, because of overly conservative downshift protocols (the engine has a max rpm of 6500 but during downshifting the computer never lets it exceed 3000 rpm), the computer won't let me downshift the transmission at all, there is no engine braking and the car keeps gaining speed. as long as the brakes are working there is help but without normal brakes there is no way to slow the car. the computer keeps saying no to a downshift and there is no emergency brake, only a parking brake that is either all off or all on/rear wheels locked. locking the rear wheels at 70mph, or worse turning the wheels to make a turn with locked rear wheels results in a spin and then tragedy. i took delivery of the car new in october of 2015 and it has been doing this the whole time. one of the dealer mechanics told me that the reason this happens is that for those shifts a sleeve on a splined shaft has to slide so all pressure has to be remove from the sleeve. it sounds like a bad design for the sake of fuel mileage without due consideration for safety.

My new renegade started hesitating when accelerating and was not shifting properly. you could tell it was stuck in gears too long before shifting. took it to the dealer 3 times. first time they updated the computer even though they said they did not notice any issues during their test drive. second time the tech said he felt it and fixed the problem with a module update. it did ride great after that-but lasted for only one day. took the vehicle back for the third time and they did nothing-said they could not replicate the problem. the whole time i am thinking maybe i am imaging the issue,only to speak to another customer in the waiting room about her ongoing issues in her 2012 cherokee-same transmission as in the renegade. now, the interior lights dim and come back on and the front wipers come on when you turn the back wipers on. the vehicle has 2070 miles on it. after reading the other complaints (car stalling while driving at highway speeds) i am concerned about driving it. the service man said i could bring it back-which i am going to tomorrow. but if they insist they don't feel it i am not sure what my recourse is. do i have to wait till i crash due to a system defect>

Jeep renegade purchased new 2015, strong alcohol odor after using windshield washers. took to dealer they also smelled alcohol after using washers. they state that it is a problem that renegades have and don't have a fix for it. it can be very strong and iwindshield washer fluid can be harmful to respiratory system

Forward collision warning has been activating randomly while driving on city streets and while entering/exiting highway ramps, specifically where overpasses are present. also, the fcw light would come on randomly at start up of the vehicle forcing me to go to settings and turning back on. it was determined by the local dealer that the fcw was not working at all. the fcw would not bring the vehicle to a stop during dealer performed obstacle test. so far all attemps to repair by the dealer have failed.

This is an update to an earlier complaint (#10826148) about my 6-speed manual 4x4 2015 renegade latitude (with ~6490 miles on it) which was revving uncontrollably, popping out of cruise control, difficult to get into and out of gear as well as exhibiting poor fuel economy. at first, the dealership service department said they couldn’t replicate any of the problems, but i insisted that they keep the car and drive it further. they did and were able to see that there was a problem. that was nearly one month ago. they kept the car for 3 weeks for what was described as a problem with the clutch, a part for which (the throw-out bearing) was on back order. i picked up the car this past friday 3/11/16, drove it home and parked it in my garage, happy that it was fixed. or so i thought. saturday morning, less than 24 hours since bringing it home, as i was preparing to go out of town, the car would not go into reverse, and there it sits, stuck in my garage, to be towed back to the dealership. thing is, i had not tried out the reverse on it when i picked it up or got it home. i had a straight run out of the garage when i picked it up, drove around the building and then straight to my home. i'm wondering if they had not done so too. now that it is nearly 30 days out of commission, i will probably try to get the car declared a lemon and ask the dealership to buy it back. i don’t want to do that but i do not feel safe in it, even if they were to fix the clutch again. nhtsa, please look into our cars-i have read the complaints and it seems that something is very wrong with it!

On february 15, 2015 with 8260 miles the service transmission light came on and the vehicle would not accelerate. after having the vehicle towed to the nearest dealer i was informed that it was an issue with the computer and it had been reprogrammed. on february 22, 2015 the same error occurred. the vehicle was towed to the nearest dealer. i was informed the next day that the transmission would need to be replaced.

Entire capless gas tank housing broke off and stayed attached to the gas nozzle at the pump. also, continued squealing brakes with no fix. needed software update at 125 miles.

I purchased my 2015 renegade latitude 6-speed manual transmission vehicle last fall and found that from the beginning at times i had difficulty getting it into gear. i've been driving manual transmission cars (all sedans until this) for nearly 35 + years so i'm familiar with how to shift etc. i knew and expected that there'd be a learning curve as every vehicle is different. but by now it should be resolved. instead, it has worsened. i have maneuvered around the minor problems -those at lower speeds-having to downshift a few times when i needed to upshift (i rely on sound and the rpms as my guide). the car now has 6200 miles on it (a mix of back road driving with suburban streets and some highway) and it is now revving uncontrollably at times, throwing me out of cruise control, acting as if on ice when there is none, surging forward when i haven't accelerated. and the advertised 31/27 mpg has not happened. i am now down to 23 mpg. i will be dropping it off tomorrow for an oil change and for them to look at this revving problem and the low mpg. i am afraid to drive this car, which i love very much, aside from the problems btw. i am concerned because i see that there have been complaints listed on sites about just this thing and it is a reminder of the out of control acceleration problems of cars in years past (like with audi). please let me know what to do besides taking it into the shop. i see below that you ask when this happened: as i said, from the beginning-i noticed that when i backed out of my driveway and put it into first and then shifted into 2nd, i'd have to go back to first. then, it would surge ahead as if it were in third or fourth. that has continued.. the scary issue is the revving in traffic last week. i have not driven it since then.

On september 24th i was driving and the floor mat got pushed forward and wrapped around the exposed steering column. i had to stop the car in the middle of a busy street to get out and manually pull the floor mat out of the steering column because i was unable to steer the car even to the side of the road. then, january 15th i was driving through the imperial dunes area on the way to california and the hard plastic strip that covers the roof rack hardware (i do not have a roof rack so jeep put a strip in there to cover the hardware) broke in half and flew off my vehicle while going 70 miles an hour into the traffic behind me.

Just purchased a jeep renegade. much to our surprise the car does not come with a spare tire even though it has a spot for it in the rear. i believe it to be a safety issue since if a person has a flat in a area that is not well traveled and has no cell service this could be a life or death matter. if the temps are freezing or extremely hot and you are in the middle of nowhere you would have to drive on the rim till you got help or crash. whichever accurse first. if you had to walk in extreme cold for a long distance you could get hypothermia or worse. in extreme heat you could dehydrate before you get help. the list goes on there is no good points to not having a spare tire.

At around 980 miles, the car started loosing power and the transmission was jerking a lot. then i came to a condition where i cannot control the speed anymore. i had to stop my car in the middle of hwy-15 at night. this happened on 1/16 and same problem recurred after the first fix attempt. this is a critical safety issue. i cannot imagine driving this car again. just after 2 weeks, after driving about 10 miles, the same problem happened. this issue seems to be prevalent. it needs to be investigate. i am going for a lemon law this time....

The 2015 jeep renegade has had about 800 miles when the problem appeared. i was driving on a freeway at 70 mph. all the sudden, the car started jerking and the car would not accelerate even when i push the pedal as i intended. so i got off the freeway and started driving local at lower speed, and the car was acting even more weird. the car was jerking and came to stop. the engine was on but the car would not go. luckily, it was at night time and in residential area, there were only few cars around so they could drive around. i changed the automatic mode, 'd', to the semi-manual mode. the frequency of the jerking reduced but the car came to a stop again while i was driving about 6 miles to drop the car at a repair shop at a mfg authorized dealership. this could have caused serious property damage and bodily harm. i was lucky that there were many cars around at the time and the car did not stall on the freeway. i am not an expert, but the problem seemed to be related to the power train (and speed control possibly.) i hope i am the only person with the problem. this problem must be assessed and appropriate action needs to be taken. my car is currently at a repair shop and will be assessed, hopefully tomorrow.

I bought my vehicle approx may 2015 drove 7600 with virtually no problems. all of a sudden began having shifting issues with a bad hesitation between gears to the point where i didn't think the vehicle would move then it did. took to the dealership & they did an update on the transmission software. that made it better for only a short time. my car started doing it again but was a lot worse. car had 14000 miles on it & it was jerking into gear. took to dealership & they verified the rough shifting said they were told by chrysler to do a relearn procedure on transmission & that sometimes will correct the issue. the transmission isn't jerking into gear at the moment but you can still feel it shift into gear. think this problem really needs to be researched.

2 weeks after buying my brand new renegade, it completely shut off on the freeway & i had to coast over 3 lanes of traffic to the shoulder. not only did my jeep leave me stranded, i could have been ran over at 80 miles an hour. just before shutting down, my car would not shift gears and began to lose speed even though the rpms were hitting the red marks. it was serviced, and given 2 software updates. a week later, the same thing happened. you can push the gas pedal to the floor, but the vehicle does not accelerate, instead it dies, however the rpm's go up as high as they can go but my car won't shift gears. now it is in the shop (for over a week), supposedly getting a new fuel pump, which i do not think is the ultimate problem. i have read about the 9 speed automatic problems and this is exactly what keeps happening. after putting me in danger twice, i feel certain as soon as i get my new fuel pump and drive home, this will break down again. i have had the jeep one month, brand new.

Setting for automatic turn-on of electric parking brake does not "hold" in the uconnect (radio) settings as set by the consumer. the setting regarding the parking brake turns on by itself, meaning the parking brake can come on by itself when the vehicle is switched off. this is just one of the many settings including cornering lights which changes at the computer's whim. this same uconnect system causes the measurement of miles per hour to change to kilometers per hour randomly, and tire pressure measurement to change from psi to bars. the amount of time headlights remain-on after engine shut down also randomly changes. the radio/uconnect/"brain" of the car has already had the one update posted by fca installed to prevent hacking which is the only update fca has available. these settings seem to change randomly, observed mainly when starting the car, but the dashboard "units of measurement" have changed once while in motion.

"takata recall" after starting the vehicle from a parking spot at the va, i smelled gas, and it stalled. after starting several more time, and only able to make it approximately several feet each time. the vehicle finally died, leaving a trail of gas, and a huge puddle underneath. it was the fuel return line where the plastic connects to metal. this was very dangerous.

On october 2, 2015 i was driving down a city street near my home. as i came to a stoplight the engine cut off without warning. there were no warning lights or messages on the dashboard, the engine simply cut off. i tried to restart the vehicle, and received the message “shift to park, then to drive.” at this point i was a hazard in the road that other vehicles had to swerve to avoid. i was able to get the engine restarted and traveled approximately ¼ mile to a spot where i could turn around. as i turned onto a side street the engine again cut off without warning. i was able to coast to the side street to a safe parking spot. after about 15 mins i was able to start the vehicle again and drive it ½ mile to my home where i had the vehicle towed to the jeep dealership service center. the dealership kept my vehicle for nearly a week, but was unable to find anything wrong. they stated to me that they attached the chrysler computer diagnostic and found no errors registered and that they inspected the vehicle and found nothing wrong. they also stated that they drove it for 10 miles and could not get the issue to repeat, so they told me to pick up the vehicle and continue driving it. on oct 9 the vehicle lost power while turning, but the engine did not shut off and again displayed no warning lights. on oct 15 the engine again cut off, but this time on an incline and almost rolled into oncoming traffic. we brought the vehicle back to the dealership and discovered there was no oil in the engine. my safety concerns with the renegade are as follows:1) none of the engine sensing systems registered the low oil, 2) if the low oil level triggered the engine safety cutoff why was this not registered in the vehicle’s fault log, and 3) after the engine safety cutoff was triggered and there were no error or check engine messages of any kind. they could find no record of any problems.

Power door locks stopped working 9-17-15. went to dealer 9-22-15, they said that key fob was bad, new one on order. turn on front wipers the back wiper will turn on sometimes, with the back wiper switch off. the car sat idle for 8 days, the battery was dead. i tried to start could'nt get key out of ignition. had to jump battery 3 times with battery pack to get car started. when battery went dead the car computer reset and my power door locks now work with key fob. waiting to see how long car will run, can't trust it.

Our jeep renegade's 6.5an infotainment system may have corrupted software or a electrical problems. since owning the vehicle (june 2 ,2015) the “yelp” feature will not load and is not available to utilize as advertised. my u-connect account was listed as “pending” instead of trial/activated. after numerous trips and calls to u-connect with multiple trouble tickets and opened “star case” the radio was replaced on 8/26/2015 but it is now worse than before,.apps do not work, getting sever error and subscription errors. i now have another open trouble ticket and u-connect doesn’t seem to have an answer. i have been putting up with this for 3 months now and 5-6 trips to the dealer, a replacement radio and a requested buyback. i have an open customer care case. this wasn’t the only electrical problem had 4 attempts to replace a bad key fob, finally after ordering 2 new key fob , is was fixed.

My transmission had been slipping in the lower gears, and especially when i turned corners. finally the car got stuck in 5th gear, and barely goes when i hit the gas. both the transmission and engine light came on. i am taking it in.

I have had two incidents of my jeep renegade(9 speed automatic) stalling on me when stopped and in drive and when in park. the engine would shutter intermittently. i notice that when in park the tachometer would rev up without the gas pedal being pressed down. i would have to put car in park at stops or red lights to restart car and put back into drive to get going. even then the car would lag trying to get back up to speed. it would shutter when driving at low mph. this is horrible and i am afraid i will get into an accident. my dealership service department could not find anything wrong with it when i had the problem the first time( after i drove right of the lot). so here it is a month and half later and the problem has returned but worse than before. i am taking the car back to service again. however, i am going to ask for them to tow jeep because this car is unpredictable right now to be driven safely!

I started my vehicle and then shifted it from park to drive. all the warning lights flashed and the vehicle lost power and the interior and exterior systems went dead. i shifted back to park and attempted to start the vehicle again. it did not start and turning the key resulted in all the warning lights lighting up. the parking brake engaged and did not release. the power door locks and windows did not work but after the key was turned the headlights did flash if the lock or unlock buttons on the key fob were pushed. also the steering wheel did not turn with the key in place and the key could not be removed from the steering column. the tow truck driver had to resort to using a power pack on the battery terminals to get power to the electrical system so he could restore the steering and release the parking brake. at the dealership that repaired the car they found the electrical systems functional and the battery fully charged. the service reciept states the dtcm had an active code c2502-64 and they flashed dtcm with latest flash number and cleared codes.

This is the second complaint about the 2015 jeep renegade, after the transmission was replaced with 2000 miles on it, now the brake linings need replaced with 2,700 miles on it. please will someone do an investigation on this vehicle.

Purchased the car on 7/28/15 thinking that this would be one solid reliable vehicle. day 3 after 130 miles, the service engine light came on on its own, the four wheel drive went back to a two wheel drive. although vehicle didn't stop or jolt in the middle of highway but could feel the sudden loss of power. took it to dealer, still sitting there, apparently needs a whole transmission component replacement and some harness replaced. super unreliable car! not sure if it will do same thing again. glad it didn't stop in middle of highway! jeep needs to recall these vehicles before somebody dies! not sure why safety officials are not taking this seriously yet even after so many complaints on a brand new model car!

Press remote to lock doors, rear don't lock, tried again then front doesn't lock. so now car won't open or luck with remote. i reprogram locks on uconnect still doesn't work. you have to manually lock the doors. i consider this a safety recall . if you have kids in back they won't be able to get out unless you reach inside vehicle to open. hope the car doesn't catch fire with kids in back. key is also hard to put in ignition and take out.(batteries in remote are fine i checked full power). i think the manufacturers are in a hurry to release the vehicles before they are properly tested.

Just purchased a new 2015 jeep renegade one month ago, and my daughter was driving it to work one morning and the vehicle lost total power in the middle of the road and would not move, had to get it towed to the dealer where it was purchased and they called me and told me the transmission needs replaced. the vehicle has 2000 miles on it. updated 09/15/15*lj *cn

On 7-23-2014, when attempting to back up, the jeep would not move and no less than 5 warning lights came on. multiple messages:service hill start assist, service engine, service electronic parking brake, service transmission. shifted to park, huge clunk, shifted back to reverse, huge clunk, then was able to back up. shifted to drive, wouldn't move. repeated process, clunking transmission, then moved forward. drove home slowly then had towed to dealer. see online that the 9 speed 948te auto transmission is a problem. why isn't anyone looking at this?? dealer has jeep and has done 7 software updates and aren't sure if it will fix the problem. i paid $28,000 and don't know if the &#@% thing is going to do this every time i leave the driveway. please look into this. i understand the 2013 forward cherokee has the same problem and no one is helping these owners either.

Bought renegade sport fwd april 28, 2015. 1. door locks/key-fob stopped working by june 1st. took to dealer, said chrysler knew of issue, trying to get a "permanent" fix, but a temp fix was to re-set the computer system; they did and it lasted less than 2 hours. have to use key to unlock driver door, then reach around and unlock/lock the other 3 doors by hand once inside the car. "luckily", the key-fob still locks/unlocks the rear lift gate. 2. rear wiper blade turns on randomly when front wipers are on. only way to stop the rear wiper is to turn off the front wipers, wait a few seconds, then turn them back on. 3. car sat for 3 days (july 15-17), and battery completely drained/dead. key stuck in ignition. called road side assistance, they tried to jump it with a jump-box, jeep wouldn't turn over, so had to jump with the tow truck's battery connected to jumper cables and after several minutes, the electrical gadgets started to work, and several minutes later on the charge, it finally turned over. 4. car transmission "jerking" when driving slowly out of my driveway (approx. 5 mph). this has happened several times.

Both key fobs began to have delayed response when locking and unlocking vehicle. automatic locks stopped working, but back hatch would still lock and unlock. lock and unlock buttons wouldn't work on driver-side and passenger-side doors. disconnected and reconnected battery, then the locks worked again.

The vehicle has stalled at high speeds, or idled and shook before finally sputtering and engine dying. various issues at various speeds. could not restart and had to tow. engine stalled at full speed three times all while vehicle was brand new, first month of ownership and under 1500 miles.

I purchased the car brand new and had it for 6 days. we drove from denver to breckinridge. we were coming down the mountain when the car shut off going 70 miles an hour. at one point the hydraulics went out and the brakes did not work. we pulled the car over to the side of the road. it took about 10 minutes to start up the car again. we proceeded on, thinking it was something with the altitude and was a fluke. no, it happened to us again. the same thing. the car shut off again going 70 and the brakes didn't work. it was terrifying. the car was towed back to the dealership. it needs a new transmission and associated parts, on a new car with 400 miles. if this was in the winter and the roads were icy, my family and i would have been dead.

Water has been leaking into the car and forming a puddle in the carpeting on the passenger side front and rear floor. i believe it is coming from the ac.

My jeep renegade's 6.5an infotainment system may have corrupted software. since owning the vehicle, the "yelp" feature will not load and is not available to utilize as advertised. my uconnect account listed in my radio system shows "pending" instead of trial or activated. i am also missing soft key applications such as wi-fi and sometimes uconnect store. i have contacted uconnect access, jeep, and my dealership countless times over the past 30 days of ownership with no remedy. i have been told to perform soft and factory resets time and time again with no change. uconnect reps have re-sent data and jar. files with no luck and no change to my radio system. dealership does not know what to do and submitted a work tiocket to star reps for assistance. they have not figured out what to do and told me they would contact manufacturers of the radio system for help. 2 weeks later and no word from dealership or star reps. i wish they would try to reload system software or replace my 6.5an system with new one.

I was on the highway when suddenly my brand new car stalled and would not shift back into gear. the car became immobilized and had to get towed back to the dealership. they replaced the fuel valve and did not test for transmission or electrical issues. two days later the same thing happened on the highway. i took it to a different dealership and they did not know what was wrong with it, so they updated the software in the car because two updates were available. i got the car back and it broke down for a third time, again after only 2 days. the car is currently in the shop and chrysler is reluctant to buyback the vehicle. nobody can figure out what is wrong.

Hesitation shifting between multiple gears. lunged forward without warning at a complete stop. made manufacturer aware of issue.

My 6 week old jeep renegade won't start. i inserted my key into the ignition, i turned and briefly the electricity went on but the engine didn't turn. then i went to try again and everything locked up. the key was stuck, the gear shift was locked and wouldn't move, and the vehicle would not turn on. finally got the key out but when you put it back in, you cannot turn the key. nothing works, it is completely shut down. it appears as though the lock cylinder may be broken. very pissed off.

My husband and i both just bought 2015 jeeps with their 9-speed automatic transmissions. these cars are extremely dangerous and i am scared to drive these vehicles in snow. the vehicle will all of a sudden accelerate even though you are braking to come to a stop or are slowly idling forward. it is very scary and people across the country are having problems with it. it is all related to the 9-speed automatic transmission. jeep knows it is an issue (having recalled vehicles to do numerous flashes), but it is not resolving the problem. i don't want someone to die as they did with toyota before the government finally steps in. please take this up with jeep and force them to make this right. *tr

Car shutting off while driving due to oil being low, however there is no indication that oil needs to be changed and within mileage limit.

I was driving the coolant temp too high went into the red and i had to have the vehicle towed.after speaking with the mechanics at jeep.the cooling fan broke. has to be replaced 40,000 miles on vehicle. and a fuse amp is blown as well.on carproblemzoo.com there are over 30 complaints about the cooling fan breaking or stop working. http://www.carproblemzoo.com/jeep/renegade/cooling-fan-problems.php the company refuses to reimburse when the vehicles are less that 60,000 miles or less than 3 or 4 years old.

Brakes: brakes making noise while car is in motion since purchase; severe rotor wear and malfunction six months after purchase; rotors deeply gouged and glazed blue 12 months after purchase; brake function in serious decline; two third party mechanics confirmed; jeep denies there is a problem and refuses to address. transmission: (all issues while car is in motion - both while driving forward and in reverse) audible thuds, clunks, "bicycle chain" noise, delay 10-30 seconds when changing gears, gears slipping while in motion (with indicator light), acceleration (due to down shifting) after braking (in stop-and-go traffic) but i'm not stepping on the gas pedal; when starting from a full stop (at a traffic light) i push on the gas pedal but the car doesn't move, then lurches forward and clunks); backing up in reverse, when putting the car into drive and trying to move, the car takes up to 30 seconds to recognize this but still clunks and lurches forward electrical: several indicator lights (such as the icy conditions indicator) worked in the first few months but no longer work; remote entry access is intermittent at best (i have to be practically touching the car with my remote to unlock it); sometimes the car doesn't acknowledge there is remote entry at all; the ability to adjust the drivers side seat (seat recline, seat position) has failed at times (most recently i was on a ferry boat and had put the seat back to nap (car was off/parked) and the seat would not go back up into a regular driving postion - had to restart the car on/off several times before the ability was restored); twice in december 2016 the entire dash computer gave me a warning that there was a system issue (while driving on the freeway) and it shut down and rebooted while i was driving; when starting the car every single lighting dash warning light comes on and flashes over and over (5 mins)

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep renegade. while at a stop light, another vehicle rear ended the contact's vehicle. the driver side seat belt failed to retract. in addition, there was white smoke coming from the engine, which caused the vehicle to stall. a police report was filed. the air bags did not deploy. the contact sustained chest injuries and whiplash that required medical attention. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the seat belt needed to be replaced. it was unknown what caused the smoke. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 34,000. the vin was not provided.

Transmission keeps jerking - no power to engine

Jeep engine dies during hot weather, pulling up steep hills or towing even small light trailers and going up a slight grade! i have had my jeep in the shop at the jeep dealership many times but they do not give me any paperwork because they say there is nothing wrong and all 2.4l engines in the renegade have this problem!!!

The transmission is causing safety issues. when accelerating after a very slow crawl or stop, the engine shuts off. no warning lights, no sounds or any indication that its about to shut off. this happens sporadically. also, when accelerating after a very slow crawl or stop, the vehicle lags and jolts forward. feels like someone has hit you from behind. no warning lights, no sounds or any indication this is about to happen. this also happens sporadically. there were a few near-accidents due to the vehicle shutting off or lunging in intersections. it has happened on city streets and freeways.it was taken into the dealership to survey. it died in their parking lot twice. they claimed it was the oil, the battery, electronics, or that it was driven awkwardly, etc. they have held the vehicle for over 30days, did software fixes, changed the oil, changed the battery. i also went through the chrysler dispute resolution. which was unfavorable to myself due to dealership claiming nothing was wrong. dealership did not notate true experiences with the vehicle to chrysler. vehicle still stalled and lunged thereafter. i refused to drive it due to safety reasons and had dealership buy it back at bluebook value so that i could purchase a safe reliable vehicle. there is a class action suit regarding the transmission. i did not claim into the class action suit because at the time, i was in the process of the dispute resolution.
