While driving the 2014 wrangler on the Freeway the ignition temporarily blinked out. and restarted. When we arrived at destination and turned off the key the instrument panel blanked out and would not restart. Replaced the TIPM ign. relay and got the vehicle to restart. This event is happen more often since 3/31/19. Highly concerned that this is happening at times while driving could shut-off in a busy interrsection.

I was at a gas station at 530am across town from where I live. The Jeep is essentially brand new…I fill the tank and the car wont start. Lights come on but nothing….I call my husband to bring me the spare key, I call AAA for a jump, I take it to the dealership that thinks its the battery….then for the next week the car wont start until the 10th or 12th try….I take it in and they tell me its the TIPM…they want over $1000 for the part and almost $400 for the labor!!! And that\'s after I spent $300 on the battery and labor that they think now, I never needed!!!! WTF! Its obviously a fault from Chrysler and there was a class action law suit!!! This should have been a free recall!!!! I am complaining to the BBB next.

Headlights shut off and alternate coming back on. Dangerous when driving at night and have to switch to fog lights. Headlights appear to be the only lights impacted by this problem. Tire pressure system also has intermittently thrown codes during driving. Typically corrects itself and then will throw another warning light.

Jeep Wrangler steering column electrical issues, possibly related to TIPM issues with other Jeep/Chrylser/Dodge vehicles. Issue occurred when starting vehicle in parking lot at night. Jeep lights would not turn on even though lights were in the ON position from the steering column left stem for lights. Repeated on/off attempts, including vehicle restarts, did NOT fix NO lights issue. When the steering wheel was rotated the lights suddenly turned ON. Other related issue is intermittent windshield wiper cycle when windshield wipers are in the OFF position on the right stem of the steering wheel column.

This “Death Wobble” has been happening in my Jeep for months now and over the past month gotten so bad it happens at least twice daily and has pulled my vehicle into other lanes

Started receiving intermittent rear left and right signal messages that the lights weren’t working. I went in to the dealership and they replaced the light. The issue then started with the right again intermittently including the dash dimming intermittently when I put the turn signal on at night. The radio and other areas would dim and then brighten back up. They then replaced the right bulb and said the dimming was due to a fused wire from the burn out. Now the dash still dims intermittently when I put the turn signal on and yesterday the radio cut out on the left side of the vehicle. Then intermittently came back on to the left speakers and back out.

The entire Jeep died and blacked out at a busy mountain intersection, we were almost t-boned and rear ended at the same time. Tool jeep to dealer they had it all day said they couldn’t recreated problem. I picked up the vehicle drove it maybe 200 meters to the first traffic light where it totally died again, put it in park and restarted, immediately once it was placed into drive it stalled again. Managed to get Jeep back to dealer where they have had it for a week and still claim they cant find the problem. I am terrified to drive this Jeep in the Mountains where I live or anywhere else for that matter. This is a very dangerous problem and I hope it is resolved in a timely manner before someone is killed.!!

Jeep completely died (lost all power, including engine, all electrical, brake lights, panel lights, etc) in condo parking lot. Got out to start pushing it back to parking spot, and a few seconds later the door chime started and power was restored. Radio was booting up from cold start (showing Garmin logo). Restarted car, it turned over and started normally. Started driving forward again, and in about 20 feet, it completely died again in the same way, and came back to life about ten seconds later. Decided it was not safe to drive, and was able to reverse to parking spot.

Car was towed on November 3, and repaired on November 4 with a new TIPM module. I know that there is a class action lawsuit against Chrysler over the TIPM in this vehicle. I wanted to add another example of a complete failure. I was quite lucky — it happened while I was driving 5 mph in a parking lot. If it had happened 30 minutes later, I would have been on a long bridge between Tampa & St. Pete.

While they replaced the TIPM, I have no idea if the new one used is any better than the old one. The mechanic told me that “they fixed the problem, and this is a new version.” However, this is the same mechanic who told me on November 3 when my Jeep was towed to the dealer that “They stopped using the TIPM in 2014.” So I have no reason to believe that he knows if this is an improved part or not.

This is an extremely dangerous condition. Had the TIPM failed while on the freeway, I would have lost the ability to signal to get to the side of the road, or even lower the windows to use hand signals. I also would not have been able to put on hazard lights.

This Jeep is less then a year old with very low mileage when I had it towed to my dealership for repair. The Jeep would start and conk out 3 times after it didn’t even crank.They looked at it the next day and told me that it was the TIPM and that they had to order the part. It has been 3 days without a car. They have the part but having trouble with install. This is totally unexceptable for a vehicle that is so new. Now my concerns are for when I get the car back after the “new” install. Will it be that the new TIPM still has the defect and possibly leave me in an unsafe situation. Will I have to worry about my vehicle starting every time I get in it?

I have a two month old Jeep Wrangler 2014, 4 door with 1898 miles on it and it wouldn’t start. It was completely dead. We tried to jump start it and absolutely nothing happened. Towed it to the dealer and they said they were perplexed and needed to figure out what the problem was and they were not getting power to anything at all and hadn’t seen anything like this. After keeping it for a day they said it was the PDC battery main power cable that was not electrically tight. The interesting thing is it still hesitates to start on occasion and it is a brand new car. This is very troubling to me as I have heard of this problem in other Chrysler vehicles and worry it could just stop working while i am driving it.

I purchased my vehicle from Don Whites Timonium Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram on June 30, 2014. Less than one week after purchase, I began having trouble with the vehicle. On July 3, 2014, the vehicle lost engine power while I was driving from Baltimore, Maryland, to Somers Point, New Jersey. Upon coasting for a short distance, engine power restored, and I was able to accelerate and continue driving without further trouble that day. I did not take the vehicle to the dealer for repair after this occurrence because I assumed it was an isolated episode. However, on July 22, 2014, I again had trouble while on a trip between Baltimore, Maryland, and Somers Point, New Jersey. During the return drive to Baltimore, the vehicle lost engine power at least six times both on Interstate 95 and on local roads. Each time, I had to coast to the side of the road so as to not block the flow of traffic. After a short time, about 30 seconds, engine power restored, and I was again able to accelerate and continue on with my trip. I took the vehicle in to Don Whites Timonium Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram on July 23, 2014, where it was kept until July 28, 2014. The technicians were unable to reproduce the issue, and the problem could not be identified. Software updates were run in an attempt to correct the problem. I again had trouble with the vehicle on August 18, 2014, when driving from Lynchburg, Virginia, to Baltimore, Maryland. During the drive, the vehicle lost engine power five times on Interstate 81, at speeds up to 70 miles per hour. Upon the fifth episode that day, I took the vehicle to Safford Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Winchester for immediate attention, as I feared I would cause an accident by losing engine power while driving on a busy interstate. The service department was unable to reproduce the issue, but the technician stated that he saw signs of the problem I described during his evaluative drive. The service department released the vehicle to me and recommended that I take it back to Don Whites Timonium Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram the following day for a more comprehensive evaluation. I took the vehicle to Don Whites Timonium Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram on August 19, 2014. Upon driving it for over 100 miles, the service department has been unable to replicate the problem and, thus, again has been unable to identify and repair the issue. The vehicle is still currently at Don Whites Timonium Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram for continued attempted diagnosis.

Wrangler Unlimited Sahara: There is apparently an ongoing proplem in the electrical or TIPM per the Service Manager at the dealership were the AC system over pressurizes and blows off the valve making it look like the engine is on fire. I have owned the Jeep for one month and it has spent 75% of the time in the shop trying to fix this problem. They gave it back to me once saying it was fixed and it did it again with 48 hours.

Need to replace oil sensors, filter housing & intake manifold gasket set-warped. oil leaking everywhere due to cracked housing. there have been complaints since 2014 in all makes of jeep/chrysler cars and they refuse to recall/fix. this is a serious danger!

It started with a small oil leak that turned into a big oil leak coming from the oil cooler. the high the temperature the more oil that would come out. this oil is mixed with coolant as well. this is not safe because you never know when it’s going to crack and they will not cover under warranty or extended warranty. this can be a real safety issue because you can lose oil pressure which can cause engine to fail.

Noticed an oil spot in the driveway. took the jeep to my mechanic who informed me that this is a cracked oil cooler. he said that this is the third one he has seen and the second in 2 weeks. on the first one he did he said it took 6 weeks to get the part and that his customer drove 6 hours to get the part. there is a severe back order on these parts. i have now been waiting for 3 weeks for my mechanic to get the part. he was told by chrysler that the next expected delivery would around may 3rd. that will be 6 weeks of not being able to use my vehicle. that is not acceptable. i have done some research on the internet and i am finding that this is a common problem that chrysler has known about since 2014. it started to happen to vehicles with less than 5,000 miles on them. there should be a recall on this part. or at least redesign and make enough parts to cover the demand. why has this been allowed to happen? $1000 to repair this problem.

Leaking oil filter housing. it’s a known problem and so widespread across jeeps that there’s a national shortage of the part. i can’t even get it fixed. oil and coolant are leaking everywhere. it’s a danger to my family and the environment.

Oil cooler housing is made with 2 types of material that doesn’t have equal control of oil expansion when it is hot, therefore having to replace a oil cooler housing because of the plastic part of it cracked resulting to replace the entire kit. i had to replace it 3 times, but only paid once of the replacement cost. the other 2 were under warranty. i’ve researched that this is a known issue with jeep part, particularly with the oil cooler housing kit. metal and plastic should not be a complete kit to control the oil flow. heat reactions are not the same.

Right rear tail light not working properly. originally it would work intermittently (when i first noticed this issue) but now its not working at all(no tail light, no blinker). bulb is good(has been changed), fuse is good etc. i believe there may be a grounding or wiring harness issue based off the diagnostics i have done. the vehicle was stationary when trying to trouble shoot this issue.

Found oil all over the floor of my garage, had not driven jeep. it has just 30,000 miles on it. brought to dealers over 3 weeks ago, they are still waiting for a backordered part. and i am without my jeep. was told 14,000 on backorder-if its that bad for breakage why is this $1200+ repair is recall? i googled it and found it to be a big issue.

Mopar oil cooler housing, which houses a cooler and oil filter, sits on the engine and has cracked, causing oil to leak out of it. oil leaks down the engine and onto the transmission housing.

When are you going to make chrysler recall the 3.6l v6 for their oil filter cooler base breaking. i'm lucky my vehicle didn't catch fire with all the hot oil running down over the engine. thousands of these motors are in their products. and all cost $1355 to repair. mine was only serviced at the dealer, no one else. it is a well known defect and chrysler is still sticking it to customers for repairs. surprised no one has died in a car fire.

My oil filter housing has a leak and no one can get the part. apparently this is happening to a lot of people as the part is in high demand. jeep should issue a recall.

When driving or stationary the air bag light comes on and a ding follows. it happens no matter the situation when i move the steering wheel.

Tipm malfunctioning. jeep indicating door ajar/not in park. vehicle has indicated other problem via dash while driving. took to mechanic and was told needed new tipm.

Major oil leak. took to mechanic. oil cooler needs replacing. checked on jeep forum, there are thousands of complaints regarding this issue. mechanic went to order part 3-4 months for a replacement. jeep has a back order problem. was told not to drive as it could overheat and cause a fire. this seems to be a safety issue that jeep is ignoring.

Notice oil leaks in my driveway and had it checked by mechanic. found out it was the oil filter housing/oil cooler and that it is a common problem with 3.6 motor also, found out the part is on back order due to a lot of customers having same issue.

Oil cooling house is cracked, due to extremely cold weather in oklahoma. oil is leaking and there is a burning smell when driving. at this point in time, this oem part is on back order, causing a safety issue with driving. the chance of an engine fire / blown engine due to low oil. being a jeep owner this back order is unacceptable. at this time, i have an estimate for $1600.00 in repairs to fix this issue with a jeep dealer in town

At 63,000 miles my 2014 jeep wrangler sport 4x4 started leaking oil really bad. looked up problems people have with oil leaks via the internet. found out there have been more than a thousands of problems with this happening all of a sudden. took it to a shop and they confirmed that is leaking from a cracked "engine oil cooler and oil filter housing adapter". called around for this part and all dealers had a back order on this part and didn't know when they would be getting them in. finally located one from a dealer in southern california through a person i knew personally that worked for a dealer. he said there have been more than 4,200 orders for this part in just southern california. this is a very big problem! this can lead to the engine catching fire. also a very expensive cost for just the part and than they still have to remove the upper and lower intake plenum gaskets needing replacement when this part is replaced. the leaking of oil has been happening over a week or so.

Oil filter cooler adapter failed at 55k miles. jeep leaked quart of oil on ground and another quart in intake. if jeep was run another 30 min the engine would have destroyed itself due to lack of oil. could have aslo caused fire if oil got on hot exahust. very common problem w penstar 3.6. no parts available in usa as of 03-01-2021 mfr. refuses to warranty. claims oil filter was too tight, which was not.

During the winter storm in texas temperatures where below 0. my family was without power and need to evacuate. after starting the engine i started to smell burning oil with the engine idling. i noticed there was engine oil dripping from transmission, driveshafts and skid plates. i traced the oil back up to the engine and then further to the top of the engine. there is engine oil and coolant pooled in the valley between the engine heads, underneath the intake manifold. the oil filter/cooler assembly is leaking either the o-rings are bad or the plastic housing has cracked. researching i found this has been an issue for some time. clearly a manufacturers defect. why no recalls? plus the part from retailers state the the part is no longer available for purchase.

I noticed a large puddle of oil when moving vehicle from parked position. there was no indicator on vehicle that it was low on oil. when checking the oil level in the vehicle, there was none showing on the dip stick. all oil had leaked out of vehicle. we had the vehicle taken to a local dealership. we were told that this is a common problem with this year/make/model. it was the oil filter housing defective releasing all oil from vehicle. this part is on national back order and not expected to be available for 45 or more days. this tells me that it is a problem with the manufacturing of the vehicle. what if i had not noticed the oil that had leaked out and my the engine lock up while driving on a busy highway.

Following a mandatory pcm flash recall, i've been having trouble with my '14 jeep wrangler's automatic transmission. it will intermittently not upshift under heavy acceleration. instead, the engine revs to 4k, and it will stay in the gear. only if i let off the gas and allow it to reset, then gradually accelerate will it work properly. the dealership and jeep have not been able to figure out the issue, having replaced the entire transmission, pcm, and ecu, as well as numerous other parts and sensors. i fully believe this is computer software related, but the manufacturer is refusing to acknowledge this as a potential issue. for the longest time, i was not able to get a dtc code, but most recently found a stored one that appears to direct the issue to the can-bus communication issue. attaching screenshot.

Running errands in the jeep i started to smell burning oil while stopped with the engine idling. returned home to notice there was engine oil dripping from transmission, driveshafts and skid plates. i traced the oil back up to the engine and then further to the top of the engine. there is engine oil and coolant pooled in the valley between the engine heads, underneath the intake manifold. the diagnosis is the oil filter/cooler assembly. either the o-rings are bad or the plastic housing has cracked. the jeep is out of warranty for both the bumper to bumper and the powertrain. however, the jeep has less than 50k miles on the odometer. the repair will be done by my self as my abilities are competent and i refuse to pay 1200.00 dollars for a mechanic or dealership to perform this task, particularly seeing the total cost of parts is less than 250.00. fca should be held responsible as leaks in the lubricating and cooling system could result in catastrophic engine failure, vehicle fires, loss of life or great bodily harm and harm to surrounding individuals, property and/or the environment. sounds like enough to warrant a recall, if you ask me.

Rocker arms were replaced at 88,000 miles and now at 110,000 they need replaced again. oil changes done at every 3000 miles due to dusty conditions on mail route. very frustrating several co-workers have same complaint as these vehicles are great for the job they are built for . this expense should not be a factor in considering these vehicles for purchase to work at this job..

For months i smelled antifreeze from the front of the jeep but there were no leaks . after a month i found dried antifreeze on the bottom of the radiator passenger side . the jeep was under warranty and was repaired by dealer . my friend also with a new 2014 wrangler also had same problem . thank you joey

The adhesive layer between the two layers of glass on the front windshield has numerous crystals that refract the light. this is interfering with visibility during low light situations, illumination by headlights, or with low angle light from multiple sources including sunrise and sunset.

I have a wrangler sahara unlimited 2014. around 48,000 miles i smelled burning oil an noticed oil leaking under the carriage when the car was parked. i took it to the dealership and they indicated that the oil cooler was leaking. the engine was filled with oil. they replaced the oil cooler and adapter. this is a potential fire hazard. i hope jeep replaced the damaged part withone that will prevent the problem from reoccurring.

Burning smell for a couple of days, took it in and they had to replace my oil cooler. engine was filled with oil and it was a major leak from the back. part #68105583-ae was put in it's place and i have a sneaking suspicion it was part #68105583-aa that was broken since it was made out of plastic! my jeep has 32k miles, and is under warranty, but this is too much! recall please!

I recently starting to smell burning oil in my jeep. i didn't think much of it, and figured there may have been a minor spill or the old oil was burning off after my recent oil change. but after a couple of days, the smell remained and i noticed an oil stain where i park this jeep in my driveway. i then thought that maybe my mechanic failed to properly install my oil filter after the last oil change. but turns out, the oil filter housing was leaking oil. this is potentially very dangerous and now has to be replaced. and from what i understand, this part is made from plastic and has caused many problems with this specific model year. my sister, who has the same year and model also had to have hers replaced. i only have 50k highway miles on this vehicle. i also noticed that the replacement part has a different part number, so jeep may have made a modification to the part. i hope so!

2014 jeep wrangler rubicon 3.6. oil filter adapter leaking oil. vehicle has less then 20 thousand miles on it. took it to the dealer about six months ago and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. took it in two days ago showed the service department pictures of the oil on my garage floor. after reading consumer complaints (2014 jeep wrangler 3.6) i told the service department to look at the oil filter adapter. service department called me the next day and said " you have a oil leak from the oil filter adapter". is this going to be an ongoing problem? will i have to replace this part every 20 thousand miles? i reached out to chrysler twice about this problem and have gotten know response. i feel there is a potential for and engine fire if chrysler does not come up with a permanent fix.

When pumping gas, the fill tank will fill up and overflow, causing gas to spill out all over the vehicle. the has been going on for the last 60,000 miles. every other jeep model has had this fuel filter recalled, except the newer wrangler. gas pumping take over 10 minutes to fill overtime. when taken to the dealer, they charged me $90 to tell me the filter need replacing and would like another $89 to do so.

The steering wheel has a 2" play and is causing me to compensate on every drive now. this has started approximatly 10,000 mile previous, but has increased steadily over the past few months. i'm told i need a new steering gear box installed.

Jeep wrangler effected. 2014 with 17000 miles the oil filter/oil cooler housing failed and leaked 3qts of oil in less then 24hours. the oil was changed 5 months prior to this problem and the dealer claimed the oil filter was put on to tight which caused cracks in the housing and would not complete the work under warrenty. after the repair i requested to keep the part that was taken out. after close examination and using compressed air to see if i could find a crack there was crack to be found. only thing i could see that could cause a leak was a missing gasket on botton of house.

This vehicle has under 20,000 miles on it. has never been involved in a collision, or been off-road or ran over or hit anything other than dips and bumps that my toyota yarius and honda fit have ran over with no problems. the right front tire has worn out twice and chrysler says it is because i did not rotate tires every 5,000 miles. vehicle has been to the dealer for service several times and i was never informed about this problem either during service or when i purchased the vehicle. i believe this is a flaw that chrysler is pretending does not exist.

Improper design of oil cooling unit - weak and incapable of repeated maintenance stresses. scheduled oil change with local auto maintenance shop revealed significant amount of oil coating rear of engine, transmission bell housing, and light sheen of oil coating many components on the undercarriage. pooled oil on the engine block at the front, directly underneath oil filter housing. hours of internet research leads me to multiple jeep message forums with similar/identical scenario. every owner finds cause in faulty/compromised "adapter-engine oil filter" jeep part number 68105583aa. noted that this part has been upgraded/revised to an ae designation, thus revealing that jeep knows this part to be faulty and/or of inadequate design. vehicle was stationary (parked) when this happened, but only took note of a potential problem when i noticed an oil spot where i always park at my office, and at home. no vehicles i own have ever left an oil spot before this.

My coolant started leaking and my three year old jeep needed a new radiator. the garbage limited warranty from chrysler products of course would not cover.

Jeep wrangler steering column electrical issues, possibly related to tipm issues with other jeep/chrylser/dodge vehicles. issue occurred when starting vehicle in parking lot at night. jeep lights would not turn on even though lights were in the on position from the steering column left stem for lights. repeated on/off attempts, including vehicle restarts, did not fix no lights issue. when the steering wheel was rotated the lights suddenly turned on. other related issue is intermittent windshield wiper cycle when windshield wipers are in the off position on the right stem of the steering wheel column.

"takata recall" i was in automobile accident on the 23rd of may, a front end collision and the airbags did not deploy, the shoulder/seat belt kept me from major injury.

Arrived home in vehicle and had a strong odor of burning oil. immediately saw a puddle of oil under the vehicle and oil on the exhaust was smoking. the oil filter/cooler housing had begun leaking. this vehicle has 44,000 miles on it and never been off road. this seems to be a very common part failure and chrysler needs to address it. the amount of oil it lost in a short amount of time was enough to cause a fire. there was over 1/2 inch of oil in the valley between the heads and oil had blown from the motor to the rear differential. this part is conveniently not covered under the 5 yr 100,000 mile engine warranty and the dealer said the part has not been upgraded.

On the 2014 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the jk jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. daimler chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying.

I have a problem with my jeep wrangler unlimited 2014 , this week the etc (electronic throttle control) and traction control light turn on and i lost engine power, it just ran idle. it can not go more than 2000 rpm. i turn it off and on and it was everything ok. also the tire pressure sensor light is still on all the time. the tire pressure still in 35 psi.

My 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited is currently being serviced for a cracked oil cooler. the oil leak was first noticed while parked in my garage. i had taken my vehicle to a local shop and they diagnosed the problem as a cracked oil cooler. i was also told i was lucky there was no fire caused as there was so much oil. i was told it should still be under warranty. the vehicle is getting its normal services now and will be taken to the dealer tomorrow. i have googled this problem and there are many complaints of the same issue for the 2014 jeep wrangler.

When attempting to brake, the vehicle would not stop. the brake pedal started pumping like the abs system kicked in. the brakes worked as expected minutes later (after rear ending the vehicle in front of me).

Randomly the instrument panel gauges would go crazy, the "idiot" lights would come on, and if the cruise control is on, that will disengage. i've had other incidents where the vehicle would not have any power when the key was engaged, until 4 different times of trying it. also when starting the engine, the starter would continue to crank even with the key disengaged.

Jeep was totally dead on 8/9/2017. ..i replaced battery and it cranked but none of the electrical controls on steering column work, i.e. blinkers, horn, lights, stereo controls, wind shield wipers..etc. (anything on the steerimg column minus the ignition switch). i took it to a mechanic and he stated the ipcm is bad and needs to be replaced. mechanic stated he has seen 3 off these this week alone from chrysler products. it is a 2014 with 40k miles, never been off round. check engine light came on about a month ago with the code p054c but went off at the next crank up and hadnt come on again. why would this part just fail? it's nothing i did. sounds like a faulty part.

Noticed what i thought was a transmission leak. after some research found that it's oil leaking from the oil cooler assembly. vehicle was driven approximately 30 miles on the highway then returned home and noticed oil on the garage floor.

Today had issues with my jeep smoking while driving on some trails in new mexico. found some oil underneath the motor near the transmission. could not find the leak so came back and did some research and found that many jeep owners complaining of the same issue. i found out that chrysler/jeep has been having issues with their oil filter/cooler housing since 2013/2014. i have also found out that they have made 3+ attempts to repair this part but has not issued a recall to have all of these replaced. from the mechanics i've discussed this with the issue is quite dangerous. the oil leaks from this housing down into the "v" of the engine between the valves and sits there with the potential of catching fire and burning the vehicle and its occupants. the mfg knows this is an issue for the last 3-4 years but is expecting the owners to pay for the defect from manufacturing. the mfg should be replacing these parts as part of a larger recall. i am currently miles from home (900 miles) and now will have to add oil every so often to ensure the engine doesn't seaze up on the way home then be out personal time trying to get it fixed.

Did oil and filter change at the dealership. i got on the freeway and looked at my rear window when i saw smoke. did not think of it much since i figured its the old oil burning. drove for a good 2-3 miles and it was getting worse. pulled over to the side and a lot of smoke got inside the vehicle. got out and the oil was draining over the muffler, transmission cover that was causing the smoke. i thought they forgot to put the screw back on or the oil filter loose. called the dealership told them what happened and called a tow truck. once at the dealership, was told by the tech that it might of been the oil cooler that was draining or got cracked, he said that this is pretty common. i checked online for recalls but did not find any but i did notice a lot of jeep forums online that this was an issue with this model yr. this could be a fire hazard with all that oil draining on the muffler and the engine. bad design overall! i even know that, it doesn't take a genius to figure that out, its common sense. making parks with plastic pipes? by the engine and in a hot area? it might be to save money in parts but i am paying on a $40000 jeep. got the part 68105583aa replaced with 68105583ae. hopefully this got motified.

Unknown reason: my jeep was sitting in the driveway while i was at work and caught fire. this fire from the jeep caught my house on fire as well. my neighbor heard a few explosions and went outside to see what was going on. he took the attached picture after he called the fire department. we are waiting for the insurance adjuster to come out to see the damage.

Transfer case rear main seal leak as diagnosed by two different jeep dealerships (jeep of hollywood and massey yardley jeep). i have taken the car in twice for repair and the leak continues (02/24/2017 [hollywood jeep] and 03/08/2017 [massey yardley]). the car is in for reevaluation and repair as i am writing this making it the third time in three weeks the car is being repaired for the same issue (03/17/2017 [massey yardley]). this involves the motor oil in the vehicle and leaks regardless of whether the vehicle is idle or being driven. once the wrangler is driven the the oil heats up, and thins out, causing the oil to leak in larger amounts and faster. this is a safety issue because leaking oil can start an engine fire or too much oil lost can cause an engine to be damaged or even seize. jeep corporate customer service has been notified of this issue and their "case management" team has been involved in attempting to resolve the issue, however, to-date all customer service reps indicate there is no recall or investigation into these issues. as an aside, the car was taken to the dealer, by the original owner (per carfax report), for transfer case related issues 11/18/2015. i implore nhtsa to investigate this issue as this has the potential to be a life threatening issue.

Engine oil cooler housing cracking and leaking oil. i have had it in twice in 3 months to have the housing replaced. i know of others with this year, 2014, jeep wrangler that have had the same problem. you can smell the oil on the exhaust and see the oil dripping under the vehicle. i have the dealer repair orders and parts replaced and they are the same both times. now, worried it will continue to happen even after my warranty runs out and will have to pay for the repairs. jeep should extend the warranty as long as i own it or permanently fix the cooler problem on these models.

Noticed pool of oil under my jeep and upon closer inspection observed oil dripping from back side of engine onto the exhaust system. it appears the leak is coming from the oil filter housing, as seems to be a common failure on this model. upon contacting the dealer about the part, i was told there is a nation-wide backorder of about 10,000 parts.

Purchased jeep wrangler as new from dealer with 103 miles on it. at 36072 oil was leaking all over the top of engine and down the transmission. dealership replaced oil filter housing/oil cooler. after replacement i looked up part number used and it was an earlier revision than what should have used. jeep was repaired on 2/10/17, on 2/18/17 jeep was again leaking oil from top of engine.

On 2/20/17 we brought our jeep wrangler sahara unlimited to jeep dealer in delray beach florida schumacher because we found rust on the front and passenger seat frame hinges. the seat hinges have bare steel showing signs of rust which could be a potential safety defect . the vehicle is still within 3 year warranty. service called jeep area manager (fiat chrysler) jose? who said repairs are not covered. we spoke to a person named joy on the phone at fiat chrysler who said that fiat chrysler jeep stand behind their area manager. we asked to have a copy of the area manager report sent to us, she said they won't send it to us. based on the attached pictures, we cannot tell where this is a cosmetic problem or if the rust will eat through the metal and cause structural deterioration which could be hazardous in a collision. we would like you investigate for possible safety hazard

Brake issues the day i drove it off the lot on jan 6th 2017. i took it to tuttle click who i purchased it from and they didn't inspect the vehicle i took it back again and they inspected it and found the brake booster damaged which they advised they repaired. i am still having issues along with additional issues and am concerned. this is a vehicle i purchased for my 16 year old. please help they are refusing to repair or service the vehicle.

The oil cooler under the intake, the jeep has 68k miles on it, needs a third oil cooler, the dealership refuses to cover them under warranty, this has been an ongoing problem since the first year i bought the jeep brand new. every time they crack, out of the blue, no warning, the driver is stranded on the side of the road with six quarts of oil all over the motor, trans, exhaust and ground.

I purchased a pre owned certified jeep wrangler from tuttle click in tustin ca and the same day i drove it off the lot it had brake issues. i had to come back twice to the dealership to have them to look at it and it turned out the brake booster was not functioning. i still hear noise from the brakes.

The thermostat housing has coolant residue on it and is cracked. this seems to be a very common problem with these jeeps. this part is not a part that can be broken the only reason something goes wrong with it is that it is defected. mopar should be replacing these parts.

My jeep has less than 21,000 miles on it. i brought it in to the dealership for a coolant leak. they haven't found the coolant leak but they did find an oil leak from the oil cooler. this is the second oil leak from the oil cooler. parts are on back order, i was told this is a frequent and common problem. they have not found the source of my coolant leak. this car is gently driven by my wife and is unmodified in any way.

The ignition appeared to go out on our 2014 jeep wrangler. when you turn the key in the ignition, there was no sound. it did not try to crank. all other electrical components like headlights, radio, etc still worked. i took it to auto nation jeep in roseville and they said the tipm needed to be replaced at $1400. the vehicle was stationary in the garage.

Radiator on these models start leaking prematurely. there are many documented cases on online forums with radiators going out or leaking with only a few thousand miles and being covered under warranty. however, some dealers would argue that the coolant smell is normal, in order to push the repair further out. my vehicle only has 46k miles and has a leak on the driver side portion of the radiator where the aluminum part of the radiator meets with the plastic part of the radiator. the leak is very slow and most people might not realize it (this is what makes it even more dangerous!!) other than for the coolant smell near the front of the vehicle. i believe a defective radiator like this could cause serious safety concern as its highly probable to blow at anytime given how much pressure is in the cooling system. this would be dangerous and potentially deadly if it were to go out on the freeway, or out in a remote area, or even for someone working in the engine bay or under the car. jeep knows this is a problem, but if you’re out of warranty they won’t do anything about it, even if it’s not the first time it’s happened.

Defective bearing in rocker arm leading to engine failure. it is a common problem with the engine on these vehicles. when engine failure occurs, there is loss of power steering, propulsion, and difficult braking.

My engine light came on. we got the machine attached the code read po520 engine oil pressure sensor circuit. when we called the dealership they said it wasn't under warranty any longer and wouldn't repair. while i researched we found a technical service bulletin that was issued prior to the warranty expiration. the oil sensor should have and could have been replaced prior to the warranty expiring if the dealerships were mandated to notify and fix all repairs related to defective parts. during my research we found that the passenger side airbag is a recall in extended warranty status. regardless if we got the extended warranty it is illegal for a dealership to sell a used vehicle with a defective airbag or a recall. it is also illegal for me not to get it fixed or my registration can be revoked. i should not be responsible for this cost to repair either of these items. i am just asking you to please take these issues seriously and to have both these parts replaced. if this wasn't bad enough, this time of year, covid and my current financial situation it makes it very difficult for me. please help me.

Oil filter housing leaking quarts of oil. this is a fire hazard because of where it is located. i have seen 1000,s of complaints regarding this. this morning i started my car to warm up and there was a pool of oil underneath of it. my oil leak started about 2 weeks ago, started small and now it is dumping oil

Vehicle stalls when started, brake depressed and shifted into reverse. will occur several times in a row, unless brake pedal is released as soon as vehicle is shifted into reverse. when brake is released, vehicle accelerates unusually fast, in reverse, without depressing the accelerator pedal. problem is more prominent in colder weather (below 40°f).

In 2014 mopar started using a plastic oil filer / cooler housing on the 3.6 penstar engines. this plastic oil filer/cooler housing is easy to crack or develop oil leaks. the oil then puddles up under the intake manifold laying against the hot engine block. it appears to be a faulty design that could result in engine fires or breakdowns from loss of oil. this is used on lots of different models of vehicles. mine is the 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited. the oil leaks anytime the engine is running. after the engine valley is full the oil runs down the back of the engine and falls on the transmission bell housing and exhaust pipe causing burning oil smell and possible fire hazard. mopar should replace these on all vehicles after the 2014 year.

Airbag warning light and audible tone comes on intermittently goes and comes while driving and or idling. passenger side inflator was replaced with recall. researching this warning many 2014 jk's are experiencing this problem. research points directly to the clock spring. fca usa should replace the part as a recall has been issued for rhd jk's and many lhd jk's are experiencing the same issue.

The oil cooler/oil filter adaptor failed. this part is plastic and sits on top of the engine....! since 2014 this part has failed in many fca vehicles and when it does it leaks oil and coolant on top of a running/hot engine! in my case it failed and caused a loss of oil pressure which then damaged the cam shafts and o2 sensor. luckily it was covered by warranty but when that runs out it's not only a safety issue but a very expensive repair for a failing plastic part that should have been recalled by now! the company should at a minimum extend the warranty for that part on every engine it has been used in.

My 2014 jeep wrangler jku has 86737 miles and developed an oil leak. i took it to the dealer for diagnostics/repair, and was told "massive leak from oil cooler has saturated engine block valley and spilling over on to transmission and under body". as stated from the dealer, the oil leak does not drain from the engine, but pools in the engine block valley until it fills and then runs over the rest of the transmission/engine. this creates a fire hazard.. as stated from the dealer, the oil filter/cooler assembly (mopar part # 05184294ae) is located in the engine block valley, so it is very protected from external damage. the seals just leak. this defect cost over $1000 to repair. from the number of other occurrences i have read about, there should be a recall on this issue.

2014 jeep wrangler with 43,000 miles severe oil leak from oil filter housing. oil went from small drip to severe leak with oil coating cross member and exhaust pipe within weeks. oil dripping and coating the hot exhaust is a fire hazzard and you can smell the burning oil at every stop light. $1000 repair at the dealer.

I purchased a 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited with the 3.6 liter pentastar engine. i bought it with 75k miles. after driving about 500 miles, there was a very loud ticking noise coming from the left side of the engine. i contacted the local jeep dealer and was told that this is a very common problem and said the repairs start at $2,200. i did some research on the internet pertaining to this ticking and numerous videos on youtube showing how to repair the lifter noise. this is a known problem and i feel chrysler should make the fix.

The flange bolt broke in my steering column while changing to the left lane. the steering wheel turned freely and was disconnected to the front tires. damage was also done to the clock spring and it had to be replaced. if this happened on the highway i could have injured myself and others!

On 12/04/2016 i was driving on the freeway at around 80mph when a load explosion stopped my engine. i immediate stopped as smoke started to come inside the cabin. as soon as i exited the vehicle i noticed a big fire under the car and insure the hood. i was able to put the fire out using 3 fire extinguishers. this really could've escalated quickly. i noticed a big hole on the side of the engine. looks like it threw a rod since the oil pressure was low. probably due to faulty oil filter mount. the exact reason for the engine failure and subsequent fire hasn’t been determined yet as the dealer will ot look at it until chrysler sends an investigator to determine the cause. chrysler will not send an investigator and is asking for the dealer to look at it. it's been over 10 days and nothing has been done. so far, neither party has taken the issue seriously. the car is still under warranty. *tr

3,6 oil filter adapter leaking. have 38,000 on vehicle, got oil changed on monday evening and wednesday morning noticed a burned oil smell and a cloud of smoke off motor after short drive to work. have oil slick underneath vehicle when came out that afternoon. went directly back to dealership, and they advised that they had done nothing wrong , but was a bad oil filter adapter. i see a lot of them appear to fail, but the timing is suspect. has the replacement part been upgraded to prevent future failures?

Engine oil leak (fire hazard). the engine oil filter housing (part number 68105583aa) is widely reported to faulty by owners of this vehicle year (2014). this part cracks under routine driving and leaks engine oil onto hot system components, such as the exhaust cross over and transmission, where the oil burns and creates a fire hazard. myself and my passengers have noticed this smoke before it ignited. however others have reported a fire. the oil leak generally occurs when the engine has come up to temperature and the vehicle has been in motion long enough to reach normal operating oil pressure and temperature. the problem occurs if the vehicle is stationary or in motion, regardless of road conditions. the leak is not immediately detected by a low oil pressure, high temperature, or other similar warning, further increasing the fire risk. further, the leaking oil posses an environmental danger and is hazardous. prior model years had a different, metal part which does not crack and leak under routine use. it is believed when this part was replaced with a plastic component in 2014+ models, the new, plastic part was defective or insufficient for its high temperature operating environment inside the engine. this part should be recalled and replaced by the manufacturer (fca). attached photo shows: oil (light brown) pooling beneath leaking oil filter housing (foreground) on the engine block itself.

I only have 56,000 miles on my 2014 jeep rubicon unlimited and the motor is already making a ticking noise.. not only do i change my oil at the recommended mileage i also buy the most expensive and the best oil so i wouldn’t have to deal with something like this.

The back seat belt wrapped around my daughters neck and the lock mechanism would not release and every time she pulled on it the belt got tighter until the point she fainted and could have died had it not been for a passerby carrying an army knife, allowing us to cut the belt thereby freeing her. almost a death situation out of the blue. this happened when we were driving and then stopped in a parking lot to release her.*dt*jb*dt*dt*jb*jb*jb*dt*jb

While driving, airbag light comes on when 20mph or maybe 10mins of driving. light will go off when stopped. and will return again at 20mph or 10more min of driving. it will occasionally stay on.

There is a known issue with faulty oil coolers that a bunch of people are experiencing and jeep should be fixing these as a faulty part. many owners of the 2014 models and possibly other models have experienced cracked oil cooler housings.

2014 jeep wrangler pentastar oil cooler leaks which pours onto exhaust manifold and starts on fire. happened to me coming home from work. luckily i was in the driveway and i put it out with my extinguisher. oil everywhere leaking down engine and on the under carriage. caught it in time and nothing else was effected. good thing i wasn’t on the freeway with my whole family in the vehicle. fca us llc should fix this issue. very scary especially when unexpected. please fca us llc fix this issue so it no longer happens to other families. cause it sure looks like it’s a problem.

Vehicle showing cel (check engine light) with no performance issues noted. code read and shows p0520 related to the oil pressure sensor switch. after reviewing forums, determined that a tsb exists but no recall although the design of the unit has been changed due to defect. replacing this unit took a considerable amount of time and effort as a large amount of the top half of the motor has to be removed to reveal the sensor. replaced and vehicle has been operating free of the cel since that time and accurate oil pressure readings are being received. without the repair, the vehicle cannot pass a nys safety inspection and features of the vehicle are disabled.

Clock spring- after researching on the web, their are many people with this complain and we need to do something about it. my steering wheel buttons do not function, along with the horn. not having the horn functioning is extremely dangerous. i had an incident where i could have died, simply because of my unfunction clock spring. a semi truck was backing up, not realizing i was behind and i could not used my horn to hunk. if it wasn't for another driver by my side, the semi truck would have crashed me. please we need this to be a recall. thanks

Vehicle only has about 66k miles and after a new oil change, i could hear a ticking noise coming from the engine bay. after taking it to a mechanic and researching for similar issues from other jeep owners. it seems the 3.6l pentastar engine is notorious for having a camshaft or lifter go bad

My jeep stalled twice while driving in traffic. would not start immediately following each event. loss of brakes and power steering while driving at speed created safety hazard to me and surrounding drivers.

Took in for oil change and they found a leak in the back of the engine on the drivers side dripping down after the oil change. could not find where it was coming from.

The plastic oil filter housing cracked at about 26,000 miles causing a major engine oil leak from the top of the engine. oil has leaked down and splattered all over the undercarriage of the vehicle and onto the transmission and exhaust pipe causing significant smoking and a potential fire hazard. the mechanic advised that this is a common failure on 3.6l pentastar v6 engines and the the only fix is a replacement of the part at a cost of $830.

I was driving down road and lost power like it dropped into neutral. pull over to side of the road and by time i stopped had smoke coming into the cab. got out and saw flames in engine compartment. called police and fire but vehicle was total loss.*dt consumer stated there were no electrical issues and no engine light came on. flames were coming from the bottom of the engine.*jb

The driver’s side seatbelt does not always stay latched in place. whether or not the latch is connected, it shows that the seatbelt needs connected and the chime continuously rings, when the vehicle is in motion. worried whether this will affect other safety features, in the vehicle. especially the airbag. this issue started on july 27, 2020.

Loud ticking from the left side of engine. a known problem with many model years of jeeps. i was told i do not have the warranty any longer because my warranty for the vehicle started in 2013. if i did, this known issue would not be covered. shop wanted 3k dollars to repair. sound happens with car running all the time in drive or just idle. gets louder as i accelerate.

Clock spring is apparently damaged and not allowing the horn, airbag deployment or radio controls on the steering wheel to function properly.

The check engine light came on. i had my mechanic shop check the codes and the oil pressure sensor that is mounted in the oil filter housing went out at 64000 miles. the repairs are very expensive since the intake manifold will need to be removed to replace the parts. the oil filter housing which the oil pressure mounts into will also need to be replaced since it was leaking. the shop advised they have replaced several in the last few months and the issue was very common.

Front axle leaking seals on both sides are bad, payed . $1100.00 to get it fix . 4 months later rear axle seals need replacing . front an back leaked fluids to my brakes which slipped through stopping distance. know another $1100.00. brake pads in front and back still new when car bought . mechanics can't believe it, bad parts from factory.

Four months after purchasing a used wrangler unlimited i got a check engine light and codes p0205 and p0305. upon reading up on these codes it is a very well known issue with the 3.6l pentastar engine. the injector coil had already been replaced in cylinder 5 so my guess is the previous owner had the same issue. it has slightly over 60,000 miles on it and is no longer covered under engine warranty. the first time it happened to me was after a 120 mile drive. i stopped for gas and when i turned the jeep back on the check engine light was on. *tr

I own a 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited sport. went for my oil change at the dealership and they told me i need to replace the oil cooler assembly because it cracked and is leaking oil and the engine oil is pooling in the pan. at the tune of $1200. i went home and found this is manufacturing defect with hundreds/ thousands have this problem with their 2014 wranglers. i see just a few who had this covered under warranty but not without a hassle from dealerships. most, like myself are told it’s not covered. 5 year/ 100,000 mi. now 6 years. i believe i’ve had this problem for awhile but now after warranty expired it’s brought to my attention. the problem lies with a piece changed from metal to plastic. it cracked and will be replaced with another plastic piece that will most likely crack again. if that’s not bad enough, i see it’s also a safety hazard! hot oil pooled in the bottom pan and on the engine has caused fires. jeep on their own hasn’t made the oil cooler crack a recall. no surprise there. but it’s time they need to be responsible for this manufacturing defect ! look at how many have this same problem! please!! *tr

I have an airbag light on my dash (since 2016) with a code a diagnostic from a certified chrysler dealer stating it matches the recall for this very same problem (needing the clock spring replaced because of dust contamination) however the vin does not fall within range. i am worried that in the event of an accident, the poorly made components and jeep's refusal to fix this will result in unnecessary injury.

For the last two months, whenever i attempt to fill my car with gasoline, shortly after i begin fueling the gas comes spraying back at me. in order to fill my tank, i must barely squeeze the nozzle such that the gas trickles out. still if i don’t perfectly stop and start at the right moment it will overflow. i called the dealership to see whether i was doing something wrong or if there was a recall, and they informed me it is a known and common issue but there is no recall. i went online after to check the wrangler forums and it is, in fact, a very common complaint for which there is no recall.

Oil adapter housing cracked for the second time in 6 months. 1st time caused external leak and it was replaced.this time cracked again but internally causing oil to leak into coolant. caused $3200 worth of damage and had to have coolant system replaced as well as heater coil and hoses. i know of 7 other jeep wranglers this has happened to recently.

My vehicle is well maintained. oil leaked all over the engine and onto my garage floor from a faulty engine oil cooler & intake gasket set. this was a very expensive repair that i can't afford. my mechanic (small shop) fixes this same repair 2-3 times a week. that is ridiculous and something needs to be done to reimburse jeep wrangler owners that have a huge oil spills to clean up.

There has been many complaints on a rear main seal leak. my vehicle is not even close to 150k miles its barely at 90k and already having a leak issue. i was reading online that certain jeeps right at 16k were having the same issue. this is costly and it is extremely uncomfortable that my vehicle goes from being good to drive to hey now you have a rear main seal leak and it will cost you around 850 plus dollars. it leaked oil in my driveway and now i have to pay someone to clear that up.

Noticed oil on the garage floor in january 2020. engine is leaking oil from the oil cooler that is on top on the engine. could be a fire hazard as oil drains down the back of the engine. vehicle has 86000 miles on it but has been leaking for a while. now it is leaking very bad and can smell burnt oil when driving. looking on forums online and many 2014 to 2016 3.6 engines have this issue. issue seams to be from faulty gaskets and in some cases cracked housings on the oil cooler. mine is no longer covered under any warranty. i thought it was from the oil pan gasket at first, but when i started to smell oil burning, i started looking closer at it and found oil laying in the valley on top of the engine.

Gas pedal got stuck full throttle, i was pulling out into traffic and had to accelerate so i pushed the pedal down and when i let off i still was accelerating and just ahead was stop traffic made a hard right into a parking lot and through the shifter into neutral. all the time my foot was heavy on the brake jet still launching forward ... what a hair raising experience and the worst thing my wife thought i was doing that on purpose:)*dt *tp

Oil filter adapter cooler on top of the engine, leaking, filling the valley with 2 inches of oil in some places. could cause fire and oil spilling over the exhaust. oil runs down the bell housing down the transmission and across the crossmember. when you stop you can smell biting oil, due to this issue.

Oil cooler failed and caused complete disspursment of oil while driving. oil leaked all over the underside and rear of vehicle. this could casue an accident or fire in the engine bay. replaced in october 2019. worked till feb 2020 now it is loeaking and the reservoir for oil cooler is showing pooling... again. this part is made of cheap non heat managable materials. it needs to be recalled. this replacement is not cheap or an easy task.

Each door has a leak. every time it rains water enters the jeep. i don’t know if the seals are defective but all four doors seals need to be replaced.

Jeep started leaking oil at 57000 miles oil leak was due to a known part failure the oil housing which is plastic and can easily crack. vehicle has only been serviced at dealership where it was bought. oil housing located under manifold, oil leak can potentially cause a fire when it splatters on manifold. jeep knows this part can fail at any time.

The check engine light came on and it decodes to a cylinder misfire. i took it to the dealer and they said the cylinder had low compression. it is out of warranty and they want to charge me well over $2000 to fix it. i am reporting this because i found out this is a common problem in these engines, so much so that chrysler issued a tsb on it, however the tsb only covers up to 2013 and mine is a 2014. apparently they thought they fixed it, but perhaps they didn't get it quite right, or didn't cover enough years. see chrysler jeep tsb 09-002-14 for reference. please note while this issue did not cause an immediate safety concern, my research indicates that not fixing it promptly will cause un-burnt fuel to pass through the engine which is likely to cause catalytic converter failure. due to the extreme expense to fix this known issue, people will be unwilling or unable to pay to get it fixed right away, and that in turn could lead to various safety risks, not to mention pollution controls issues.

Oil cooler had a major leak oil on top of engine was easily a quart. rest of the oil had traveled down the transmission and covered almost the entirety of the engine compartment and exhaust. i noticed the leak by a strong smokey oil odor as the oil hit the exhaust. the oil cooler was replaced and must have also caused a leak in the coolant because the reservoir was near empty. waiting to see if that was the cause of the coolant leak.

I own a 2014 jeep wrangler jk with 47800 miles. the engine oil cooler has failed and covered driveway with oil. this is a known problem that they choose not to fix. do not buy this vehicle

Same as alot of other people's complaints and i'm very shocked that there is not a recall for an issue that is such an on going problem, my oil cooler is leaking once again on my 2014 jeep wrangler jk and i've already spent hundreds of dollars to fix this issue and now going through this once again it is straight bull crap. i was driving down the road and came to a stop light and noticed a ton of white smoke coming from underneath my hood and i though no way not again but to my surprise i was right oil was sitting in the valley right underneath the black oil reservoir. the date below is when i notices it for the 2nd time...1/15/2020

While driving i observed smoke was coming out from my vehicle engine compartment with the odor of burning oil. i was just around the corner from my house so as i pulled into my driveway i looked under my vehicle and noticed oil dripping from under the engine on to the exhaust pipe. i am aware that 2014 jeep wranglers have a problem with the oil filter housing cracking over time. i opened my hood and looked at the oil filter housing and there was oil all over the top of the motor. i went to my local jeep dealer and was told that this year wrangler has a big problem with this and that there is no recall. i don't understand how a safety issue like this that mopar has not been called on the carpet for a fire hazard like this and that they are aware of the premature failure of this part. i was told the repair would be roughly $600. could you help me resolve this issue and what appropriate action i can take. my vehicle only has 35,000 miles on it. not to mention my driveway is a mess :(

Hi i was driving the vehicle and the accelerated got stuck while driving for a few seconds . i applied the break but accelerated kept on giving the engine gas when i release the break the car would accelerate forward and finally after about 10seconds the vehicle accelerated went back to normal . there was a lighting volt that came on on the dashboard as a issue and the light disappeared when the acceleration petal came back up .

My steering wheel controls are no longer working. this includes the horn, channel and volume control. they will work when the steering wheel is turned 45deg from top dead center. my research shows that this issue is caused by the "clock" spring assembly behind the air bag. jeep currently has a recall out for rhd wranglers and their clock spring assembly. i believe there are also issues with the lhd (left hand drive) models as well. i am taking this to the dealer in the morning. note the problem occurs when the vehicle is in motion or not.

On 3 of the 4 wheels, the oem caliber mountain bolts back out of the calibers. subsequently causing the calibers to come off of the rotor and wedge inside of the wheels destroying the wheels and causing dangerous flat tires while driving

I recently had a change oil indicator go off, earlier than anticipated. while performing the oil change, i realized there was oil all over the bottom of the vehicle, especially on the bottom of the transmission. i cleaned up and performed the oil change. two days later the same thing. fresh oil everywhere. upon further research and a trip to the dealer, the conclusion was a bad oil filter adapter assembly. this is beyond common on a 2014 wrangler. insane that there has not been a recall on this part. come on jeep, get it together and take responsibility. i love my jeep. but right is right. this is beyond a big fire concern!!!!

Oil cooler / filter housing is leaking oil down transmission an onto the exhaust. caused smoke and nauseous fumes to enter the cabin. fire hazard!!!! noticed the fumes while driving. inspected the undercarriage a found oil leaking down transmission onto the exhaust. inspected engine bay and found the oil pooling around the oil filter/cooler housing.

Oil filter housing is leaking, causing copious amounts of engine oil to leak over the engine and transmission and dropping down on to engine exhaust causing it smoke and emit noxious fumes into the vehicle cabin. potential for fire is extremely high, i had to pull over and exit vehicle due to the amount of smoke coming into the cabin from the underneath. upon investigating i initially thought my transmission had blown a line because of how much oil was coating the undercarriage of the jeep.

No oil pressure and check engine light on,noise from the engine lifters knocking now the dealer shows me dirt on the intake manifold cover and that is way the engine seized. the oil sensor not working i said.

The engine oil cooler assembly is leaking a large amount of oil into the "v" of the engine and dripping on to the exhaust manifolds. the vehicle was parked for over a week and upon driving smoke with the smell of burning oil filled the passenger compartment. to the extent that the vehicle needed to be pulled over and inspected for fire and damage. it was noted that the transmission, frame rails, and exhaust pipes were covered in oil and the vehicle was approximately 2.5 quarts low on oil. no prior signs of an oil leak were present before the smoke and burn oil smell was noticed during normal use of the vehicle.

Ticking noise from the engine on both driver and passenger sides. the noise becomes louder when the engine gets warm, especially when it is close to a wall or other vehicles. diagnostic from dealership says it is due to rocker arm failures.

Massive oil leak at the oil cooler housing. (2 quarts per day). leaking on the top of the motor and leaking down the back passenger side engine directly over the hot exhaust manifold. leak occurs at all rpm ranges and leaves massive puddles of oil everywhere i go which is not good for the environment. and presents a fire hazard if stuck in traffic and engine temps rise enough to cause ignition of leaking oil over a hot exhaust manifold.

While driving noticed an oil burning smell, got home and looked under the hood and found a pool of engine oil. found out from owner of the same car that a broken oil cooler assembly. this could have cause the car to burn- very dangerous indeed. happens in lots of chrysler’s vehicles

Another 2014 jeep wrangler owner with a cracked oil filter housing/cooling assembly. oil is spilling out all over exhaust. certainly a fire hazard. with as many complaints with this particular part that i have seen all over jeep forming and on the nhtsa site i am surprised that chrysler has not taken any action but is leaving this to their owners to rectify.

Parking brake failed causing vehicle to roll while someone was working under the vehicle. dealer is unable to adjust parking brake to remove slack in parking cables and fca is unwilling to replace the defective parking brake lever that has a failed tensioning spring.

The oil cooler assembly cracked causing oil to go all over the motor and transmission. it's around 800.00+ to replace this plastic part and it's a very very common problem in the 2014 jeep wrangler. why hasn't there been a recall? i literally started it and let it idle for 10 minutes before leaving for work and it done this in my carport. oil was everywhere.

All buttons except cruise control on the steering wheel have quit working. the horn won’t work either. when it quit working the volume buttons started acting up then it all just quit at once. i’m sure if all that has stopped working then the air bag won’t either. i believe it’s the clock spring causing all this chaos.

The heads on the penstar motor went bad due to a similar issues that was recalled on the 2012 and 2013 jeep wranglers causing the compression to pull in coolant into the cylinders and causing it not to start.

Driving down the freeway all dash lights flash on including traction light and abs and feels like my brakes are pumping even when i did not touch the brakes with dinging sound radio shuts off, horn does not work or the buttons on the steering wheel to work the radio. very dangerous esp when driving down the freeway.

When i am on the highway and i’m going at faster speed then on the city street there is a wobble and my truck feels as if it is going to flip over or something. also when i am on the city streets and drive over and uneven pavement i get the same wobble or sometimes it feels as if my truck is being lifted off the ground.

Takata recall - trying to get a recall of airbag issue taken care of at dealer and am told to keep calling they are not sure when they will get parts. this is a very serious recall of passenger airbag and has been since january. my son has to travel 800 miles august 10th and now feel extremely unsafe. fyi... i received letter from department of motor vehicle in nys to notify us, not from manufacturer.

Hood latches would flex so bad the hood would flutter and act as though it was fixing to fly up every time a heavy gusty wind or a large vehicle would me me coming in on coming towards me.

For 2014, chrysler made a change to a part called the "oil filter adapter" which sits on top of the engine, under the intake manifold. there are now a parade of people with various chrysler vehicles that use the 3.6l reporting that the new part cracks, causing a major oil leak, potentially a fire, and can cause your engine to be drained of all oil. part number is 68105583aa and it applies only to 3.6l chrysler v6 engines. i purchased the jeep used and now have just over 60k miles - chrysler is refusing to cover under their "100k mile" powertrain warranty even though this is a known defect and i still have almost 40k miles to go before i reach 100k miles.

2014 right hand drive jeep wrangler unlimited sport with 139,571 miles. while driving found steering wheel controls would not work may 2019. dealer found code saying cockspring has electrical failure. item was replaced for the 2nd time - last being at 73,416 mile under a safety recall s40 in 2016. still using the same - not improved jeep/chrysler- part which cost me $622.74 to replace which lasted 66,155 miles between replacements. this defective part affects airbag deployment. no improvement in recalled part by jeep/chrysler ????????? even though it is a defective part. they use the same defective part to replace one that has an electrical failure.

Engine coolant and oil sprayed the underside of the jeep started smoking paid to have it fixed then 4 months later the coolant is starting to leak again. was told the parts are cheaply made and i am better off ditching this jeep before it catches fire.

Many service lights related to evaporation leak, dealer kept resetting, and replaced gas cap and paid for countless checks each time the service light came on over the course of a year. finally discovered fuel was leaking out of the tank, and as a result i had to replace my fuel tank, fuel filler hose, fuel transfer tube, fuel vapor tube, fuel canister purge, and fuel supply tube at a high cost. when speaking to the dealer given the car is only 5 years old, they indicated that this is a common problem with jeep wranglers and that in that week alone they had done 4 or 5 fuel tank replacements. during all of this my vehicle was undriveable for 2 months.

Approximately 8 months ago, i had my first experience with my jku shifting incorrectly while going up & down the streets which i live on in kailua kona, hawaii. i live on a volcano & thus the streets are at a great degree, up to 25% grade. my first experience with the transmission shifting on its own was coming up a street where i downshifted to 2nd gear....the jeep then shifted into 1st on its own and then upshifted to 3rd, then down to 2nd & then to 1st, all on its own. i then came to a stop sign & put it back into drive for automatic hoping that it would stop. for about 2-3 weeks after that, it seemed that the transmission slipped every once in a while & then nothing. it drove fine. i never took it to the dealership from that one or two instances. on 8/5/19 i took my jeep in for a regular oil change. kona kwik lube looked at everything & said that everything on the jku looked great. i then had to leave town for a week & upon return from the mainland, i had numerous drops (of what i thought was oil) on the floor of my carport. i took my jeep to repair shop for diagnostic & was told that they saw signs of oil leak from the oil filter housing, but were unable to pinpoint location of leak. as i knew the manager of kkl, i took it back there. they cleaned up the area & stated that it was not oil leak. upon returning home, i had no leaks coming from the jeep for 2 weeks.then the leaks started. i went back to kkl on 10/9/19 where they put dye in the engine to find the leak. on 10/14/19 they saw no dye in the engine, thereby noting that it was transmission. i went to transmission technology right after, & i was advised that i had a german transmission & the transmission pump, seals, etc. were all leaking & it would be over $2,000 to fix the transmission. i only have 37,933 miles on this 2014 jku. at 38,000 miles, this transmission should not be leaking. jeep declined cover. *tr*jb

The airbag light just came on in my 2014 jeep jk. after diligent research online, and with the mechanical knowledge i have. i have found that it is due to the failure of the clock spring in the steering wheel. after researching further, i found in numerous threads, post, blogs, and forums, that this is a widespread issue with all jeep jk's. a recall was issued for the 07 and 08 jk's, and also for the newer model right hand drive jk's. however, this issue has not been addressed in the 09 through 18 jk's. this can cause safety issues with the airbags, and believe jeep should issue a recall for these latter year jk's as well. this happened while driving back home from across town. at first with the light and chime coming on intermittently. then finally the light stayed on. i have not been to the dealership to diagnose this as i believe i have done so on my own. this is a quite expensive fix for a safety issue that i don't believe jeep buyers should have to pay.

Air bag light on, shop says the clock spring goes bad fair often in jeeps. still driving it without the needed repairs. dealer says recall on mine was for the passenger airbags and even though they have had jeep recalls regarding the clock spring, my jeep is not showing up under that recall.

Dealer says i will have to pay for the recalls out on the jeep wrangler i own. one is for the clock spring recall which i never received. now there is another recall on the airbags. i should not have to pay to get these fixed.

Horn problem - horn appears to run off a relay, so when horn is depressed it takes .5-1 second for a it to sound. a real safety concern if someone is quickly merging into my lane and i can't warn them that i am there - which has happened several times now.

Oil cooler/filter pools out oil because of plastic housing. this wears, cracks during routine oil changes. the oil pools and drips all over transmission housing, under skid plates and you simply lose all of your oil. no a good design, simply lazy by chrysler.

Coolent elbow with thermostat tends to develop a small leak , leaking could result in a engin seizure or being stranded on highway/off road not sire if this is a common issue or isolated

I was driving my jeep at night in a residential neighborhood. i looked down and there was a sharp turn in the road. by the time i realized it, it was too late and i hit the guard rail. the fire started right in front of my windshield. i was able to get out but within minutes my entire jeep that was less that a year old at the time was completely consumed in flames. the front end was still in tact so the damage in my opinion was not nearly enough to result in total loss.

I have contacted a local dealer as well as jeep directly and have been told that the part to repair my vehicle is not available. this has been on going for three months.

I was driving down the highway. it was windy per usual in midwest. i met a semi and both rubber hood latches snapped. the hood was fluttering wildly held in place only by the safety hood catch. i made it to the side of the road, found a jeep dealer about 30 miles away and made it there via nasty dirt roads for an unplanned emergency stop to get it to replaced so i could continue my 6 hour journey. my jeep has not been subjected to unusual conditions, and, in fact, has had a sheltered, heated garage stall at least half of it's life.

I have taken my wrangler in for the 2nd time now with a black sludge in the overflow and radiator. the last dealership replaced the radiator, trans cooler, all hoses and and flushed. now one year later i am having the same issue and the vehicle only has 50,000 miles. the dealership is now telling me they have no idea what the issue is, and is wanting to charge me for a flush. this coolant is rated to 150,000 miles i should not need a flush. i believe i may be apart of an ongoing issue with sand in the heater core as they want to replace this but saying it may not be covered under my warranty. there is always an odor of anti-freeze with this vehicle. i have noticed when around other wrangler jk's i smell the antifreeze with them too.

Left hand side toggle ( that switches turn signals on and off) causes lcd display to glitch out when the head light control is turned all the way up. fried my lcd, replacement $6000, now i need to replace he toggle , $375. only glitches on one particular setting.

I had a recall on passenger airbag and had it repaired at dealership. since the repair, my airbag light comes on and they say i need a clockspring replaced. this did not happen until they replaced the passenger side air bag. now they are saying i will have to pay over $800 to replace the clockspring. i only have 62,000 miles on the jeep and it shouldn't need this. it seems to me that something happened when when they did the recall repair.

First few years had 2 major oil leaks where they took apart car to repair. i brought car in for oil change asking them to check oil that is leaking from bottom. was told nothing was leaking. weeks later my engine went out while driving 2 cylinders $4000 repair. two months out of warranty. now my jeep is leaking oil again and i’m sure if i trust the jeep dealer at this point. please help

The clockspring needs to be replaced in my car. this is a five year old car. this should not be an issue. this seems like a safety issue and a defect as previous models have been recalled for this issue. horn doesn't work. cruise control doesn't work. buttons do not work. it's my understanding this can cause the air bag to not work.

On 4/17/19, i was driving my 2014 jeep wrangler jk stopped at a stop light (with my window down) when i detected the odor of burning oil. i thought it was from someone else's car. on 4/21/19, i detected the odor again, and when i got home i observed oil leaking and all over the underside of my vehicle. it also appeared to be dripping on my hot exhaust which is a fire hazard. i took the vehicle to my mechanic and he said it's due a cracked plastic oil cooler housing, it's going to set me back a lot of money, and the issue may happen again. i'm lucky that the oil did not catch on fire. i've done research online and see that numerous 2014 jeep wranglers have this oil leakage due to design flaw utilizing plastic parts.

Oil filter/cooler housing leak. this is a common problem with 2014/15 penstar engines. happening around 50,000 miles or 5/6 oil change. leak causes oil to pool on top of engine and running down onto the exhaust and transmission pan. can leak as much as .5 quarts of oil in a short matter of time. this is a $600 fix at a dealer. research shows it is very common. something this common should not be put on the owners expense.

While driving at approximately 50 mph the jeep front end and steering started to violently stake and wobble and did not stop until the jeep came to full stop. this happened again a few miles down the road after encountering a small bump in the road. again this violent wobble did not stop until the jeep came to a complete stop.

Randomly the airbag light came on and shut off the same day. the next day it came back on and won't go off. this is new. the radio skips every couple of seconds and interrupts all sound making a popping noise from every speaker. it does not matter if i am using the auxiliary satellite am fm or even do you connect device. usually if it is the first time the vehicle is started that day the radio works fine along with everything else until it is shut off and restarted. this has been happening for over a year it stopped for about a month and started up again.

At 167414 miles found clutch slipping, troubleshot to clutch being saturated with engine oil. prior to the clutch slipping the oil filter housing cracked twice and replaced under warranty twice, suspected leak caused clutch to be saturated. dealer place dye in oil to verify leak is fixed. also trying to work with dealer to replace clutch at reasonable price sonce damage was caused by a warrantied part. while transmission was out also found transmission fluid leak from the input shaft seal i have asked dealer to fix this issue, but only recommended a transmission service, nothing to verify the leak and verify the input shaft is not scorned or damaged. will take to another dealer after being checked for the dye, on the recommendation of jeep customer service. photos attached show oil around clutch, bell housing coated with oil and the input shaft leak.

In september of 2017 i purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle from autonation jeep dodge chrystler in katy texas. with this purchase there was written notice of it being certified with a complete inspection done. this inspection notes and certifies that the vehicle was safe, usable, and with no defects. this document specifically noted several items that are included in the suspension of the jeep. all noted as certified. after possession of the vehicle an event occurred where the jeep lost control, putting my life and family’s life at risk as we were thrown into another lane of traffic. we had no understanding of what may have caused this issue as we understood that this jeep was certified, both written and orally. i then took the jeep to a jeep dealership to see what caused the jeep to lose control. the dealership then found that the shocks were not fastened properly because of modifications done by either autonation jeep dodge chrystler in katy texas or a 3rd party. none of this was disclosed in the written or oral certification of the vehicle. dodge chrystler in katy texas denied liability and refused to acknowledge the false written and oral certification of the vehicle. my opinion is that the jeep is unsafe to drive and may never be safe to drive in the future. autonation jeep dodge chrystler in katy texas should have been aware of these modifications and safety issues during their inspection of the vehicle. this inspection which was passed, shown written and told verbally puts my family at risk to profit on a vehicle purchase. in doing so we were falsely represented in this situation from the autonation jeep dodge chrystler in katy texas team.

Takata recall we got the noticed about the recall. how it could be life threatening. what i don’t understand is how a recall can be put out like that and the parts are not available. we took our jeep to the local dealership was told part had to be ordered. little over a month and the part still wasn’t in. needless to say our jeep was in a wreck. now my husband has nightmares because we were heading for a median wall straight on. some how he got the wheel turned just enough so we hit the corner of the bumper. thank god the air bags didn’t deploy as i could have been badly hurt or died. i don’t understand why getting parts takes so long. someone needs to be held accountable when it is the matter of life and death. i have been in touch with jeep and they wanted to know where our jeep was so they could look at it. why does that matter?! it doesn’t change the fact that it takes so long to get parts. please understand this is my whole reason in writing you. consumers should not have to wait for parts especially when that part is in a vehicle. the date below is the date of our accident.

3.6 ticking noise sounds like lifters or rockers

Airbag recall: i've had an airbag light on for over a year now but no active recall was out for my vin at the time i checked with the dealer about this problem. recently, the engine light continued to come on with a fault code for the airbag. the vehicle was brought to the larry h miller dodge located at 4220 e 22nd st, tucson, az 85711 to have the problem resolved. after writing up a work order for engine diagnostics i received a phone call stating i would need a clockspring to rectify the airbag problem. at this time i informed them that there was an active safety recall for the vehicle, which they were unaware of despite having printed the information when they checked the vehicle in (nobody actually checked to see if there was a recall, they simply printed the necessary vin check paperwork). in addition to this i also have lost cruise control function as well as having to press extremely hard on my steering wheel buttons for them to work. sounds similar to other peoples' reported problems. i feel i shouldn't be charged a diagnostic in the first place as this should have been the first thing that was checked and corrected before anything but i'll have to take that up with them.

Jeep has a known epic failure is design flaw in its 2014 wrangler when it switched from a metal oil filter cooler housing to a plastic oil filter cooler housing. hundreds of cases of the part breaking/leaking oil all over lower engine and exhaust which is a fire hazard. my part leaked oil over an unknown amount of time because i live with a gravel driveway.....now dealer shows me "metal" like glow to oil which could be engine failure.....hundreds of cases

Noticed large droplets of oil under jeep. upon inspection, without removal of any components, looked as though oil was pooling and dripping and had been spraying back towards transmission. issue a recall. does it take a serious injury or death before someone realizes this is a major issue?

Freezing cold (teens) temps outside, started vehicle, huge oil puddle under after 10 minutes running to warm up. took snake camera, found oil running out rear and down tranny bell housing. found engine oil cooler to be the problem which is plastic!!!!!!. this is a fire hazard to say the least.

Drive the jeep approximately 10 miles on 1/18/19. parked it in my drive way for the night. air temp got to between 15 and 20 degrees that night. at approximately 10:30 am i started the jeep to allow it to warm up before driving 3 miles to town. at about mile 2 i noticed a burning oil smell. i pulled off the road and saw motor oil covering my transmission and exhaust. i checked the oil and it was about 1/2 a quart low. i drove the jeep home at that point and parked it. called the dealership and scheduled an appointment. i was told it was a crack in the oil cooler housing assembly. service tech explained it was a common issue with this year model and that jeep was aware of it. when i asked about pricing and recalls the tech said it wasn’t a recalled part and the total repair cost would be around $1000.00. confused i called around to other jeep owners as well as other authorized jeep repair shops and was told this. it is a very common problem but not covered under any recall. this problem is all to common for there not to be a recall. the danger lies in the fact that had someone less knowledgeable been driving, fire could have erupted from the large amount of oil on the exhaust, engine failure due to a sudden loss of oil, and not to mention the oil that is now running onto the roadway. and the environmental issues as well.

Takara recall, but no parts available to fix, and dealers have no way to order the new part, fix unknown to them to date. major safety issue, can cause death.

Upon startup, in park and stationary, engine revs to 4000-5000 rpm, turn ignition to off and restart, engine revs to 4000-5000 rpm, turn ignition to off, wait 30 seconds restart everything seems fine. bought new in 2014, has happened several times over the last 5 years.

2014 wrangler has known faulty oil pressure sending unit sensor as there was a tsb on july 15, 2014 stating such. tsb # 18-034-14 rev. a and rrt 14-046. 1,000 miles short of the 3 yr, 36k mile warranty, but 6 months past the 3 year and jeep wants $411 to fix their known problem. jeep states since it is a sensor, it not covered by the longer powertrain warranty.

Check engine light. mechanic told me it would cost about one thousand dollars for the repair of the oil sensor switch located inside the engine. the vehicle has about 31k miles and i’m the original owner. please lmk if this is a common problem. Oil filter housing started leaking with no warning or events occurring in the area. fast research states this is a commonly know issue that jeep is aware of but avoiding.

Our rubicon had difficulty going in reverse recently. the dealer diagnosed this that the transmission needing replacement with only 55,300 miles and just a month out of warranty. we feel like this is a defective product with so few miles. chrysler does not appear interested in addressing the issue. i have seen other issues online and wonder if this is common. hence our complaint for the record.

After getting a fine dust within the cabin of the jeep i had my airbag light come on. after doing research i saw there was a recall for this exact problem but i was informed that my jeep was not in the recall list. i find this highly concerning as the safety recall s40 is exactly what happened to my jeep when the airbag light came on. i would like this to be looked into as it is a major safety issue that the company already has placed a recall for jeeps of my year of make.

The oil filter/cooler housing has cracked and is leaking oil with less than 45,000

At about 30,000 miles while on a highway my jeep suddenly smelled like it was burning and i lost acceleration on it. took it to my life time mechanic and he told me that there was oil sludge everywhere on the engine. he changed the oil out, cleaned out the engine but didn't find any issues with the oil tank or hoses. a year later, now at 40,000 miles, my check engine light suddenly comes on. mechanic reads a "misfire" error. he changes out all my spark plugs, the ignition coil and the plenum gasket. cleans out the fuel injectors and the car is humming beautifully again. but 5 days later, again the check engine light comes on. mechanic checks everything he did and can't find anything wrong. he researched and thinks it could be the exhaust valve seats being worn out. recommends i take it to the dealership. low and behold, they discover that a cylinder head needs to be completely replaced! apparently an issue they keep encountering frequently in this model. i've seen it posted on a bunch of threads regarding jeeps. thank goodness i was 4 days away from my 5 year warranty to expire when this happened!!!! i think there should be a recall on all the 2014 jeeps to make sure this issue is resolved once and for all. my vin did not show a recall per your system, but all 2014 jeeps should be checked since it's occurring so frequently, and people will be out of their warranty soon with that year's model.

P0520 - engine oil pressure sensor circuit. tsb- 18-034-14 rev.a issued: 07/15/147 there has been problems with the sensor for years, multiple forums with complaints related to this issue in not only jeep, but many chrysler 3.6 liter engines. the additional trouble with jeep is it is not an easy fix the whole manifold has to be removed to be able to switch out the part. it is a 4 hour labor charge just to replace, as well as, many have been replaced and had problem recur.

Air bag warning light comes on intermittently for about a few seconds up to minutes while driving straight and/or turning and/or over bumps.

Oil pressure switch has gone out. my jeep has less than 50,000 miles on it. the oil pressure is fine and yet i need to replace this $45 switch which will i’m being told will take 4 hours by the dealership to replace. this came on after my last oil change. discovered the issue when my check engine light came on with a code 520. parts manager stated this happens frequently and on cars with less tha. 10,000 miles.

My 2014 wrangler has the same symptoms as the jeep wrangler clockspring recall that is for 2007-2010 years. my airbag deactivation light comes on intermittently when i turn the steering wheel or hit bumps. it happens 2-3 times a day and when it does the airbag can be deactivated for up to 10-15 minutes before turning the wheel or giving the steering column a good whack brings it back to life. this has been going on for about 2 months and has been getting progressively worse.

While driving down a toll road smoke started coming up from the floor of my jeep. you could see it and smell it. we are talking a lot! there wasn’t a place for me to pull over immediately. the worst part is having my 8 year old son in the vehicle with me. do you have any idea how scared i was that my jeep may be on fire and could blow up with my child inside?! we pulled over and jumped out. i looked under and there was a small flame on the exhaust . my jeep dumped all of its oil and it spilled all over the hot exhaust causing a fire. the oil was burning underneath my jeep. this is not okay. this defective cooling housing could eventually kill someone. i’m livid my son was in the vehicle. even moreso that there is tons of complaints and you’ve done nothing! i’m extremely disappointed chrysler! my family has been buying your vehicles for close to 20 years. making any of us pay to fix something you all know is defective is wrong! and shame on anyone that doesn’t see this a major safety issue.

Takata recall-i received a recall notice on my 2014 jeep air bag. it stated that it was extremely important to take steps to repair my vehicle to ensure the safety of myself and my passengers. i scheduled an appointment with my local dealer where i purchased my jeep. a few days later the dealership called and told me that they did not have the necessary parts to fix my jeep to make it safe. i asked when they expected to have the part and they said they did not know, that the company had gone bankrupt and did not make the airbag. i told them i did not feel comfortable with that answer and that i did not want to drive my jeep in fear that the airbag might erupt causing death to myself or my passengers. i asked them if they could disassemble the air bag so as to relieve this possibility of injury or death and they said no they could not. this is unacceptable and i am reaching out to you as instructed in the aforementioned letter. please help! The mechanism of what happened to my vehicle is undetermined whether it was stationary or while driving. however i noticed a massive oil leak after driving. the entire under side of the jeep where the transmission and transfer case are were completely soaked in motor oil. after taking it to a jeep dealership, they diagnosed it to be a leak coming from the actual oil cooler housing. come to find out my vehicle has already passed its warranty coverage date. and after doing a little bit of research, it seems i'm not the only person who has had this problem with their jeep, not specifically just the 2014 models others as well. other than the complaints from individuals who have purchased a jeep, i have yet to find any comment from mopar, chrysler, or the jeep manufacturer themselves addressing the issue of having a plastic oil cooler housing. fyi its not that easy of a repair so it could be quite costly to some.

There is currently a recall our on the front passenger airbag inflator (pab). i scheduled an appointment on at premier cape cod on march 19th to have it serviced for the recall on march 30th, to be told they don't do recalls on saturdays. i work and live two hours from this location so it's very inconvenient for me to get to this location during the work week, as i travel frequently as well. the earliest i can get the jeep to the cape is friday, april 26th and even that is substantially inconvenient - they are unwilling to provide me with a loaner for the service as well. i'm disappointed and concerned given that "an inflator explosion may cause metal fragments to pass through the air bag and into the vehicle interior which may result in injury or death." anyway, just thought i'd put in my two cents.

Oil filter adapter housing has broke

2014 jeep wrangler unlimited. started with burning oil smell in vehicle. then puddle on the ground wherever i parked. went back to see if they put the oil filter on wrong. found out it was the oil housing leaking. taking into jeep for repair on 03/07/2019 milage 94,000. should have been a recall, there are so many vehicles with the same issues.

Cracked windshield from simply turning on my defroster.. was driving , windows fogged and turned up heat and defrost. next thing i know there is a horizintal crack from the lower center that then turns vertically towards the passenger side..unbelievable!!

Engine light is on do to oil pressure sensor. from everything i'm reading this is very common in the jeep wranglers. why isn't this recalled. i was quoted $600.00 to get this fix. i am told not to drive this as it could ruin the engine.

The oil filter housing and oil cooler is leaking causing oil to pool on top of engine. this could cause a fire due to oil running down the engine and getting on the exhaust.

I have the 2014 jeep wrangler with only 47000 miles. i have kept excellent care of this vehicle and it is used only as daily driver with no abuse whatsoever.just within the month of 2/2019 a code; p0305 misfire developed with the typical penastar engine "knock" and idling rough. also, the last week of 2/2019 there was a large oil spot on my garage floor due to an oil cooler/oil housing leak. we immediately contacted the service supervisor at the dealership who stated that this has been a common occurance and the oil cooler/housing unit is replaced often. how it is possible that chrysler can allow this? at 47000 miles this should never happen and is enexceptable.until this extensive repair is completed the vehicle is is rendered useless and my job is now interrupted. now in addtion to the misfire i now have this huge oil leak to contend with; please refer to the picture attached of the oil stain that was discovered on my garage floor.... the entire bottom of the of my transmission/bell housing and cross member covered in oil. moreover i just received an letter informing me that the passenger side air bag also is recalled and i have yet to address this as well. i will never purchase another chrysler product again. i can't tell you the level of disappointment and betrayal i feel for buying an "american made" car. i hope chrysler/fiat corperate is enjoying short changing the consumer buy using inferior and faulty parts to save money and rip off the consumer this way. i am sure no one cares and i am just wasting my time but this should be noted and people made aware.

40000 miles and the rear main seal is already leaking bad. happened when i first bought it in 2016 and the dealer said nothing was wrong or leaking as i was loosing oil.. now it’s leaking terribly bad and they won’t cover it.

Takata inflater. the problem isn't the recall. the problem is getting the dealership to fix it in a timely manner. the dealership says they don't know when they will have parts that chrysler (fiat) is rationing them. why is my safety in jeopardy because jeep won't approve parts?

The oil filter housing is leaking and the valves and rocker arms need replacing

While driving moderate speed on a rural rd (est miles 115k), all red & yellow lights came on, "no bus" light came on which is not listed in the ops manual, windshield wipers came on, rpm gauge went to zero, fuel gauge went to empty, engine light flashing and engine running rough to possible stall. within a period of time 10 min or so everything came back to normal and jeep ran ok. this has happen to my wife who is a rural mail carrier on many occasions. in fact in 1 week it happened every day and it has happened many times over a long period. jeep service folks don't know what is causing the problem as the codes do not pin point the problem. they "think" possibility it could be pwr fuse box, main computer or fwd instrument panel ea at a cost of over $1000 to replace. service folks want t jeep brought to them with lights on, gauges zero, engine light flashing but it's an intermittent problem and they are 30 miles or more away depending where the problem happens. service folks have had the jeep for a total of 3 days in jan & feb and drove it over 150 mile and the problem never appeared. in feb 2015 while driving (24,171 miles) the engine light came "on" and jeep stalled in the middle of the road. it was restarted and driven so jeep was then taken to dealer and they found that a fault code said "wiring does not have enough slack between sensor & wiring causing poor connection". replaced cam sensor & wiring. fault cleared. have photos of dash with "all lights and gauges showing zero and no bus light on and wipers going back and forth. i'll send if you need them but it all lights and gauges which are depicted in the ops manual. this possible engine stalling while driving and possible electrical fire is a safety issue. this problem has occurred over many months throughout 2018.

Regarding complaint number: 11175198. the information provided to you in my complaint was sent to jeep us customer care, fiat chrysler automotive group (fca) first, and they fwd it to the jeep chrysler regional manager for approval to open a "star" case so engineering technicians at fca could look at the problem on the jeep as identified to you. the regional maintenance manager --refused to open the "star" case --fearing that the identified electrical & engine problem could cause a recall and safety recall. on 2-18-2019 i received a call from us customer care at fiat chrysler automotive, and told that because of the area management refusal to open a "star" my case with them has been closed.

Front driver and passenger seat belt spool malfunctions and does not retract seat belt, leaving too much slack to restrain driver or passenger in the event of an accident. dealer charges $533.10 for parts and labor for seat belt replacement. seat belt is not covered under warranty or by recall (there should be a recall for this). like an airbag, this should be covered.

Leaking oil due to oil cooler failure. this is a known issue on the 3.6l penstar engines and chrysler dodge jeep does nothing to repair it. i have looked up plenty of threads and videos on this and this is not a easy or cheap repair. the result is oil leaking from the back of the of the intake manifold and down the back of the engine and to the ground.

I reported to my dealer approximately 6 months after purchase in 2014 that at random times while in motion all safety lights would illuminate, the radio would go off and there would be a ding noise when this happened. i even took it in on two different occasions and have called the dealership to inquire if there were any recalls associated with this since it happens while in motion. they have test drove it but never could get it to do what i described. the last time it happened was in december 2018. it just happens randomly, but is very scary and seems dangerous since all the safety lights illuminate, rpm gauge drops etc putting it in neutral and back to drive it seems to correct itself, but it is still very concerning

While on the highway (according to the jeep dealership) my oil cooler housing cracked and leaked most, if not all, of the engine's oil into the coolant system. this occurred in 10 minutes and extremely overheated the engine from the time it happened to the time i was able to pull off the highway and safely park. the oil mixing with the coolant caused it to turn into a thick mud-like consistency that clogged up the cooling system and after letting it cool down i opened the radiator then a thick brown oily/coolant mixture seeped out of the radiator. so the radiator was holding pressure prior to bringing it to the dealership. the jeep dealership replaced the oil cooler housing under warranty along with the radiator hoses but is now saying my radiator has a hole in it and not holding pressure and they are refusing to cover it under warranty, despite the jeep not having any mechanical issues prior to a hole blowing open in the engine and leaking out oil. the jeep dealership refuses to test the engine any further even though it ran for 10 minutes with little to no oil in it which most likely caused pre-mature wear. the jeep dealership wants me to pay $800+ for a new radiator. i bought this jeep 40 days ago from the dealership and it's still covered under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. they are trying to get my jeep out of their dealership as quickly as they can by spending the least amount of time and money.

Oil cooler housing cracked. this occurred at less than 40,000. i was lucky that i noticed it in my garage rather then while driving the vehicle. the vehicle had to be towed for repairs. if i had been driving it could have caused engine failure. covered under power train warranty but seems to be a common theme with the 2014s. come on fca can you seriously cant fix this issue. i mean really.

Vehicle brakes automatically while driving , causing the abs light to come on and the vehicle brakes while driving

Transmission supply and return steel hose rubbed on transmission housing causing the steel hose to have a hole and leak transmission fluid. hose did have a plastic bracket that broke over time.

Multiple issues with lights not working, horn not working, wipers not working or not cutting off, clock spring repair, (any and all steering column controls failing)

While driving on highway in passing gear the gas pedal gets stuck and accelerates continually while having to keep left foot on brake pumping gas with right foot to disengage the gas pedal. this has now happened 6 times in a month. extremely scary and dangerous!

The radio would not come on after vehicle start up then would after the battery was disconnected then reconnected. problem continued disconnecting battery stopped working and power window controlls malfunctioned and started working again. radio still does not work and will sometimes come on with bright screen and a very loud sound while driving. dealership states not a warrenty issue. anotjer mechanic states it is tipm issue and was recalled in other dodges. also engine light stays on.

Takara recall the oil cooler housing is leaking which is causing oil to run down and spray all over underneath the engine and trans, causing smome. i'm seeing hundreds of post about the same issue.

The oil filter housing on the v6 3.6l penstar failed, allowing oil to leak directly onto the intake manifold while the vehicle is running. from there the oil drained down the back of the engine, down the transmission and onto the exhaust system. from personal experience i know this to be a fire hazard. based on my own research this failure is a known problem with this year model and resulted in the manufacturer making changes on later models. however, this does address the thousands of vehicles still on the road. part number seems to be 68105583aa.

I recently drove my jeep about 14 hours roundtrip for thanksgiving. i checked the oil right before because i knew an oil change was coming up, but it was still fine so i didn’t worry about it. on the way home, the “change oil soon” light came on, so i checked it again when i got home and it was completely dry! i’m not really sure how it was still running. i put more oil in it and took it to the dealer and they found a crack in the oil cooler. i hadn’t had an issue with leaking until this point, but i heard others with the same type of car have had the same issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep wrangler. while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. the vehicle was taken to iverson max jeep (101 2nd st, huron, sd) where it was diagnosed that the camshaft sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedied. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 110,000.

Oil filter housing and cooler unit cracked causing oil to leak down on top of exhaust posing a fire hazard.

Strong fuel smell from leaking fuel on top of fuel tank, especially when tank near full. strong enough to smell anywhere around the car when parked whether it was running or not, even outside. dealer diagnosed cracked fuel pump but unable to get the part due to backorder, no safety recall, no warranty. obviously dangerous to to drive so had it fixed by independent mechanic. pulled out fuel pump and the plastic was cracked all around the outside edge under the locking ring which was the source of the leaking fuel. dealer and jeep customer service offered no remedy. beware of this problem if your jeep jk has a strong fuel smell.

Oil filter cooler adapter leaking and due to the placement of the unit intake manifold must be removed. oil leaking and covering undercarriage and exhaust, appears to be a chronic and well documented problem with the 3.6 penstar engine. after a little research the unit appears to be a well known issue. time for chrysler to step up.

While driving, sway bar disconnect light illuminates, skid control light illuminates, all gauges go off, then on. doors will not unlock from the inside using the door control. will unlock using the key fob. dangerous condition when sway bar disconnects driving at high way speed.

Started up my vehicle to take daughter to the bus. drove 20 yards to the road to wait on the bus backed up my jeep and shut it off after she got on the bus. oil was everywhere. took it to the mechanic and the oil filter housing cooler or whatever he called it was broken. apparently from what he told me and what i read this is an extremely common problem for the 2014 model. knowing it’s a common problem and a vital piece of the jeep functionality, why is it made of plastic and why is there no recall on it? my jeep literally lost all oil.

Massive oil leak covering entire engine and exhaust system caused by defective 68105583af adapter - engine oil filter

I developed a oil leak due to the known issue with the oil cooler/filter housing developing a crack on my 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited. this is causing oil to drip on the exhaust while driving and posing a fire risk.

Noticed oil on my driveway two months after a routine oil change. took to the dealer and the oil filter housing was cracked. jeep only had 41k miles on it, resulting in a $1050 repair cost to replace. i normally take it to an oil change place (mr good lube), but they refused to work on my jeep this time since they were aware of this oil filter housing issue (and i am guessing have been blamed). i took it to my normal mechanic instead for the oil change. two months later, the oil started leaking so was forced to take it to the dealer.

The heat does not work on the driver side of my jeep. this has resulted in a visibility issue due to not being able to defrost the windshield on the drivers side. we took it in to a mechanic to be looked at and the heater core was found to be clogged with a sand like substance. the issue was not covered by the warranty so we had to pay out of pocket for this to be fixed. the heater core was flushed and 2 days later same issue no heat on drivers side. we took it back in and the same sand like substance was found again to be clogging the system. this time we had to replaced the heater core and have it flushed again not covered by warranty. 3 days later the same issue sand like substance clogging the system again. the dealership stated that it is not covered and they will have to charge us to look at it. i read on several jeep forms that jeeps having the same issue and the sand like substance is from the casting and it can damage your entire cooling system. if so many others are having this issue then why is it not being looked into. the dealership told us to contact chrysler and then chrysler does not listen to you and says take it to the dealership after we have already had the issue diagnosed.

I have an engine failure code 520 for the oil pressure switch or harness with only 8315 miles on this vehicle. i found a jeep forum that described this problem in detail and stated that this has been an ongoing problem since 2012 with this vehicle. it was also stated that to replace the defective oil pressure switch the intake manifold and fuel injector rail would need to be removed. that is a little more complicated than what i am willing to try. this should be handled under a recall or at least an extended warranty for consumer protection.

My check engine light came on after driving less than 5mi. i stopped and consulted the manual. i decided to proceed home after reading it is only urgent if light is flashing. i checked my obd and it read the code p06dd which indicated a problem with oil pump. my low oil pressure light did not come on. dealership replaced a switch. shortly after my light came back on reading the same code. additionally, i smelled burning oil and car went to limp mode when at 3000 rpms. dealership replaced oil pump finally. shortly after, the car began leaking a lot of oil. dealership replaced oil cooler/housing. due to the constant problems and misdiagnosis i consulted several other dealerships and found out that they frequently see my vehicle type to replace cooler. apparently, it is due to changes made on the 3.6 engines including a plastic piece that was formally metal. the dealership i had do the repairs, claim that the switch was the problem and everything else was coincidental despite me having the code for oil pump from day 1. at approx 45000mi it is uncommon for oil system failures however it seems to be common for this make/model/year at similar milages. search forums about this problem.

Parked vehicle on a slope in the mountains with the parking brake engaged. the vehicle is an automatic transmission and was in park. immediately following all passengers exiting the vehicle, it slowly started rolling away, backwards. it traveled down a 4wd road a small distance before turning off and tumbling down the mountain. luckily everyone had exited the vehicle and there were no injuries. though we were parked on a slope, probably around 15 degrees, there was complete failure of both the park gear and the parking brake allowing a rollaway. the parking surfaces was a combination solid rock and dirt.

Takata recall the air bag light came on while in motion. i took it in for service and with 3 hours of checking unable to verify the problem. i have been with out a vehicle for a day and a half. i do have it at the dealership. is this a manufactured issue

2014 jeep rubicon. very well taken care of. less that 19,000 miles. 7/10/18, jeep ran fine in morning and afternoon. tried to start after work (4:15 pm) and would not turn over. jump start battery and drove to dealership. nothing on dash was working while driving. speedometer needle bouncing. while driving all lights were on and flickering. even headlights. vehicle felt as though it was surging. was told there was a recall on the alternator for the 2014 jeep but not the wranglers. again, less that 19,000 miles. diagnostic result was alternator went bad and burned up battery. both being replaced at performance dealership in lavista, ne 68128. i cant understand how an alternator goes bad on a jeep with less than 19,000 mile. the jeep is outside of warranty and we are covering all cost. should wranglers have been included in the 2014 alternator recall?

Casting sand from the heads has contaminated the engine cooling system leading to my radiator and heater core becoming clogged with sediment.

Oil cooler housing cracking under normal conditions causing oil to leak. given the relatively slow but consistent leak this problem can go very easily unnoticed but result in catastrophic engine failure and ultimately cause accidents. if this part completely fails there may be no warning time and cause engine seize and/or permanent engine damage. part has been re-designed multiple times and is a very well known issue in many 2014 and other year jeep wrangler vehicles. part should be recalled and vehicles suspected to have this part inspected for leaking oil. in my scenario i noticed dripping oil from around both sides of the transmission bell housing but unable to trace to the source at first. after reading a few forums i looked down along side the oil filter housing and found a puddle of oil laying in the valley of the engine. many others have reported this very same issue and the fact that the part has been re-designed so many times and can cause safety concerns, i would like nhtsa so please investigate this.

Bought my 2014 jeep wrangler sport in april 2017, it has a little over 44,000 miles. i noticed a smell of burnt oil, i havent changed the oil recently. after doing some research it appears as the oil filter housing adapter is cracked. identified as part number 68105583aa. this is a huge issue, and according to the forums i have read a continuing problem. why is there no recall on this? my understanding is that chrysler is aware of the problem and has replaced the part with part 68105583ae. not a happy customer. i hate to spend almost 30,000 dollars and have to repair it after drivinf it 7,000 miles. complete dissapointment.

The passenger side of the front sway bar came out of the electronic sway bar disconnect housing which disconnected the sway bar unknowingly and unintentionally, causing an extremely unstable driving condition. there was no indication of the occurrence as far as warning lights on the dash. the only way it was discovered was because i assumed the springs or shocks were worn out to cause the condition. while replacing the front shocks, i noticed the sway bar was pulled out of the housing. we had numerous close calls on the freeway with near roll overs due to this condition. the manual states you should never exceed speeds of 18 mph when sway bar is disconnected. however, we had been on numerous trips travelling on the freeway at speeds of 80 mph. i contacted jeep repeatedly and was just told it was a "non-servicable" part, and to replace it, at an approximate cost of over $2000.00

Cracked oil cooler released extreme amounts of oil into engine compartment and throughout engine and undercarriage. the oil spill represents a safety concern for not only road/pavement slip hazard and brake contamination but also presents a fire hazard as it occurs in the engine compartment near electrical and heated elements. after scheduling replacement, part is out of stock due to heavy demand for this particular year. after calling multiple part suppliers and dealers it appears this is a very common occurrence in this year only.

Radiator was leaking coolant, dealer inspected radiator and confirmed leak coming from sides of radiator..i was responsible for paying all cost..after a little research it appears that the radiator leaking is a common defect problem with jeep wrangler therefore should be replaced and repaired at jeeps exspense.

One day after leaving my 9 hour shift at work, i walked up to my jeep and could see that the driver side airbag had deployed at some point during the day. not knowing much about airbags i walked around the jeep to see if it been hit, no damage of any kind. i've since learned that airbags don't deploy on parked vehicles unless they are running. i called the dealership where i originally purchased (new) my jeep. they told me to have it towed to the shop and they would investigate. after asking me if the vehicle had been hit, they said maybe a rabbit or some other rodent ate through some wiring. their investigation did not uncover anything (no wiring issue, no codes, nothing) and they wanted to call in chrysler engineering and possibly an inspector due to their access to additional diagnostic capabilities. after i asked for a loaner vehicle since this was now going to take several days, they called me back and said they had permission to replace the "now deemed defective airbag". the 2014 model year was not included in any of the takata recalls, nor was the issue similar to the takata recall or the coil spring recall. thank god i wasn't going 75 down the highway when the airbag decided to spontaneously deploy. its going to take a while to get over the fear of driving this vehicle after the airbag is replaced and this possibly happening again since they can't explain what happened. 2014 wrangler unlimited rubicon 25,620 miles vehicle was stationary (parked) not running for the previous 9 hours at a secure facility with 24 hour video monitoring.

When car was 3 months old, i was putting gear shift into park and it pop back out and i almost was ran over by vehicle. luckily, have of my body was still in car but it happened so fast that i was parked next to a brick wall and it hit exactly when i put foot on brake. i do have repair forms from ron lewis jeep and insurance report. since then i had two minor paint peel issues.

Oil cooler keeps cracking causing oil to leak down my engine, potentially draining engine of oil while driving and catching fire. chrysler corporate office is aware of this issue yet will not recall the part. does it take someone getting injured or a death to occur in order to recall a faulty part? i’ve already had a jeep dealer replace the oil cooler and it seems that it’s going to continue to crack and leak oil everywhere down my engine. the flash point of motor oil is 232 degrees and my engine gets as hot as 230 degrees when pulling a trailer on the interstate. this is beyond frightening to think my engine could catch fire while my family and i are driving on the interstate due to jeeps faulty part.

Vehicle check engine light came on shortly after regular service at the dealer. returned to have it checked, was told that the issue was caused by a faulty oil pressure sensor. the location of the sensor requires removal of the intake manifold, fuel injector's and rails, etc., resulting in approx. 4 hours of labor at the dealer. the dealer advised that they have "seen thousands of these sensor's fail on the 3.6 engine". there is a tsb; 18-034-14 rev. a, documenting complaints. because the vehicle has 41k miles on it, the dealer will not cover the cost of the repair. i called the manufacturer to complain about the fact there apparently is no recall on this defective item. i was told that i could do nothing, except for put in a complaint about the dealer. i told them that the dealer is not the problem, it is the manufacturer who refuses to issue a recall despite the fact there are numerous instances of this part failing across their product line. was told to complain to nhtsa.

Overnight failure while parked: started jeep in the morning and discovered no interior dome light upon entering, no turn signals, no headlights, no wiper controls, no steering wheel controls, no seat heaters, no esp control. troubleshooting revealed a grounded clock spring causing critical system failures rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive. these same clock springs were recalled by nhtsa on may 11, 2016 under campaign number 16v288000 ( https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaid=16v288) only on right-hand drive vehicles for "contamination failures" causing air bag failures where they were replaced and a more protective steering wheel trim shroud was installed. it's safe to say that the left-hand drive vehicles are experiencing the same failure and are no more exempt from these contamination failures. it's also safe to say, i have the same failure and the same air bag malfunction that, thankfully, i did not discover. thank god i was not in an accident where the air bag didn't fire, or i would have had need to hire an attorney.

Leak from the motor oil cooler housing, on the 3.6l pentastar v6 engine from a 2014 jeep wrangler. the oil cooler housing was revised in the 2014 model year from a metal part to a plastic part. mine started leaking at 20998 miles. the leak is identified primarily by a pool of oil forming in the "v" at the base of the cooler housing, and motor oil running down off the top of the transmission bellhousing and around the transmission pan (automatic transmission). the leak is not a transmission leak, it is an oil leak from the motor oil cooler housing.

Accelerating into a highway the gas pedal got stuck i had to pull it up with my foot

The airbag indicator light cycles on and off at various times. there doesn't seem to be any specific factors. it has happened when the vehicle is idling in park, turning either direction, or driving in a straight line at random speeds.

I purchased my jeep wrangler sport 2014 with less than 9000 miles on it, drove from fl to co twice. second time i got to co, car started leaking oil and hasn't stopped since (6+ months). also, when i accelerate something smells like it's burning. oil light will not turn off.

On 6/23/16, i was driving my 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara on a highway at approximately 65 mph. i accelerated to merge into the left lane and then, after letting up on the gas pedal, the vehicle continued to accelerate at the same rate of speed. i pressed the brake pedal and the vehicle slowed as expected but i heard a distinct "popping" noise, seemingly as if the gas pedal had popped back into place. just a few miles later, while driving in the left lane, i accelerated a bit to keep up with traffic. the accelerator "stuck" a second time, and so i pressed the brake pedal again and the vehicle responded again by slowing but this time, when i went to accelerate again to keep pace with traffic, the gas pedal was completely non-responsive (i.e., the pedal had seemed to fall to the floor and pressing it did not result in any further acceleration). i pulled onto the left shoulder of the highway and called roadside assistance to have it towed to the jeep dealership. dealership verbally told me computer fault code read as "accelerator pedal in correlation" and said the gas pedal module was reading incorrectly. service advisor admitted to having seen this problem before. when picking up vehicle, service advisor told me that problem was due to excessive dirt on/behind the gas pedal. there is no way it was caused by this, as jeep has not been taken off-road, no one drives it with muddy shoes, etc. accelerator pedal assembly was replaced and pcm was updated to the most current software level. previously on this vehicle, the sentry key was replaced as was the entire instrument cluster, as was the front stabilizer/sway bar. not sure if the stuck accelerator is due to a computer/software glitch or a mechanical failure. a quick google search revealed that issues with "stuck" accelerators on this make/model/year vehicle are not uncommon. invoice attached. please investigate.

Coolant leak from radiator, passenger side top corner under shroud. i have two 2014 jeeps with the same leak. seems to be a manufacturing defect as there are many threads on the internet with the same issue. my warranty is expired but these are only 2 years old and should not be failing like this.

On 5/6/16 i went to start my 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon and the engine did not make a noise but the dash lit up like a christmas tree. the windows had power and radio worked but the door lock or alarm did not work. i towed it to the dealer and was advised that it was a common problem and was called the "tipm module" which is basically the entire fuse box and part of the computer. i was stuck there in north carolina from maryland for four exra days. now after getting back home to maryland on 6/5/16 i go to try and accelorate onto the highway from a ramp and the transmission revs to 5,500 rpm but the jeep will not accelerate. i have to ease off the gas and let it accelerate very slowly. thank god no trucks were coming or it could have beed and extremely dangerous situation considering it was interstate 95 by 175 where semi trucks go to the ta truck stop.

Brakes locked up in driveway after starting vechicle. brake pedal was fully depressed with no assistance from driver. vechicle take to dealer and probable cause was brake controller in rear floor area getting wet. cause of water in vechicle is clogged air conditioner drain. the clogging of this drain is an ongoing situation with the manufacturer. the safety problem is that the vechicle is towed behind a motorhome and this requires a brake controller to be installed. the installation on this vechicle is on the rear floor behind the driver. if the unit were to get wet and the brakes lock up it could cause the motor home operator to lose control and/or cause severe damage to the motorhome or towed vechicle. the manufacturer is aware of the drain problem and has issued no safety warning regarding the placement of the brake controller. the vechicle in question is a favorite tow vechicle of many rv owners.

The tpms light is always illuminated and the tire pressure is correct. i found a recall (nhtsa campaign 14v632000) (chrysler #p63) for this issue, but was told by both chrysler and the nhtsa that my particular vehicle is not on the recall list. it seems very coincidental that the exact year, make, and model of my vehicle shows up on the recall list, but not my vehicle which is experiencing the exact same problem that the recall was issued regarding.

I was driving on i-65 on a slightly rainy day. i stopped to fill with gas and when i entered the interstate i noticed the vehicle seemed to fishtail but i thought maybe i hit a slick spot. in a short time i got behind a slow truck and when the traffic cleared i started to go around the truck accelerating normally and the vehicle fish tailed so drastically the truck driver actually moved partially onto the shoulder. i slowed and pulled off the road thinking i may have a tire going flat. upon checking the tires i found no problem. i started back on my trip but could tell my jeep was not feeling as it should when accelerating. when no vehicles were in sight i intentionally accelerated and the vehicle once again fish tailed. soon i came upon slow traffic and when i applied the brakes the left rear wheel locked up and slide. when i finally got to an exit i stopped and and still could find no problem but did not shut off the engine (mistake). i continued on to my destination very cautiously. it was late and after the vehicle sat overnight it seemed to be fine and has not had a similar problem since. the problem could have easily caused an accident. i had the vehicle checked by a dealer when i returned home and no problem was found and i really felt they did not believe what i was saying. they kept it overnight and cheked it on a rainy day.

Around 14k miles my 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon (3.6l) began leaking oil. i have taken it into the shop 4 different times and no issue with the filter or drain plug can be found. it now leaks oil profusely (15k) and constantly has a burning smell after driven for a short period of time. my service center has noted that my engine has an "oil filter adapter" which appears to be new for this model year and the leak appears to be emanating from that area. after reading various articles on different forums, it appears that the part # in question is 68105583aa and applies only to 2014 3.6l chrysler v6 engines.

Parking brake fails to work even after adjustment

After only 2 years of highway driving my 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited started leaking oil. i took it in to the dealership and was told that the oil cooler was failing and leaking. the mechanic said that the "standard" oil filter that had been installed at my last oil change (which was done at a reputable facility) was thicker and better than the filter chrysler uses. this thicker, better filter apparently causes oil pressure to increase in order for the engine to move the oil thru this filter. a quick search online found multiple other accounts of the same part failing. the repair was covered under the powertrain warranty but i was told that if i use any oil filter other than the one they sell that if another failure occurs it would not be covered.

Clock spring went out at only 25,000 miles causing my airbag light go on and stay on. i was driving down a highway at approx 50 miles per hour when the light and alarm came on..the light started coming on intermittantly and then came on and stayed on with the alarm going off and on. it also cause my stereo to burn out and the horn to stop working

I have the "death wobble" happening on my jeep for the last 3 months - but over the last month - it has gotten worse and happens at least twice a day and has gotten so bad that it has pulled my vehicle into the other lane and is sometimes uncontrollable. it eventaully is going to kill me or someone else. the dealership that i deal with is not capable of figuring out why this is doing it and says its normal - but it can not be normal for that kind of incident to happen all the time like that - and they tell me that the only fix is going to be hours of trying to diagnose and parts that could get up into the thousands of dollars - but i have had nothing but problems with this jeep and i don't feel like this should be my expense to have to cover since they know it's been happening - but can't find a fix for it

Clock spring failure at 44,000 miles, disabling the air bag. dealer tells me no warranty past 36,000 mi. on this part failure even though it affects safety. but company will pick up price of part, if we pay labor. know there was a recall of our 2009 for this same part in which the company paid all.

Oil adaptor/cooler cracking causing massive oil leak in 3.6l v6 engines for 2014 models. jeep forums are buzzing with this issue and some of these leaks have resulted in fires. i took mine in after smelling a very strong burning oil smell (not due for an oil change for another 1,200 miles) and seeing oil on the floor of my garage. jeep is undrivable in this condition and part has to be ordered due to high demand. was told that chrysler acknowledged the issue being widespread and even mentioned that a recall may be coming down the pipeline. but that doesn't help me and the hundreds of others i've seen who had to get this fixed thus far.

As stated on www.jeepproblems.com/tsbs/wrangler/2014/ a report of a malfunction on the oil engine pressure sensor circuit has been reported as malfunctioning. see below. date reported: june 06, 2014 nhtsa reference: #10056046 tsb reference: #sb-18-034-14 description: on some model vehicles and jeeps, (my 2013-2014)malfunction indicator lamp (mil) illuminates and diagnostic trouble code (dtc) is set regarding engine oil pressure sensor circuit. in order for us to correct the issue we have to take the vehicle into the jeep facility pay $100.00 for the diagnostic check to be completed and an additional $252.00 for the circuit to be corrected and replaced. the vehicle currently has 47,000 on it and after we spoke with jeep corporate they specified that the only way they would even look into it is for us to has the service done and provide them with a ticket number. this is understandable but the local jeep company located in jacksonville, north carolina only has a next available appointment 5 days from now on january 11, 2016. this is a major issue with us driving the vehicle as this vehicle is also the vehicle that transports a child with a brain injury from a vehicle accident. so from our understanding we can either drive the vehicle which could possibly lock up because the engine is not getting enough oil pressure to it, or , we can wait 5 days with not driving our vehicle and have the malfunction corrected. we were informed that they would not correct the issue for free because technically it has not been placed on a recall list as of yet. this is putting families in danger and uncalled for. especially when the malfunction has been identified by the company itself.

We had noticed an oil leak which was causing smoke & terrible smell. luckily no fire. we took it to the dealer we purchased it from, and they refused to cover repair citing that the vehicle was serviced elsewhere, therefore it was not their fault. we had it removed from there and took it to another local dealer, who acknowledged said problem and repaired the jeep under warranty. (defective oil filter housing assembly). this appears to be a well known problem, and despite the fact that this is a 2014 vehicle, the complaints seem to be excessive. there is no doubt that the dealer we bought it from deliberately tried to blame someone else even though it is a serious safety issue potentially resulting in injury and/or death. this could have easily caught on fire. we are lucky. documentation, repair invoices to follow if needed.

Automatic transmission will downshift to 2 or 3 and not up shift. requires stopping vehicle, turning off engine and restarting to return to norman operation. this happened 6 times in 1 day on 400 mile trip. happened while passing 18 wheeler on a 2 lane road. when it happens it will not accelerate. 3 videos were provided to the dealership showing the occurrence. does not set any codes.

The abs, stability control and traction lights keep going off and also disabling the speed control while driving. so far jeep has replaced the abs sensors and the stability sensor twice. the car is being driven, usually going off on dry pavement. the jeep also had the computer system shut down the vehicle with a security alert that need a computer update a few months prior.

Noticed a burning oil smell and traced down the source as a cracked oil filter adaptor. took it to a repair shop where they examined the part and verified that was the source of the oil leak.

Oil filter housing/cooler leak breaks on numerous low mileage wranglers, mostly on or before 25,000 miles. mine was at 21,000 miles when it crack and leaked profusely. this leaks spread quickly and motor oil was gathering on the exhaust pipe under the engine bay. this created smoke from the burning oil which could eventually lead to a vehicle fire. i was lucky enough to find the issue quickly and diagnose it. this also is an environmental issue, having fluids especially engine oil, leak onto roadways or other driving surfaces. jeep has yet to formally admit to this issue, those several if not all dealers are aware of this issue in the 2014 year model. cherokee owners are also reporting the same issue, and come to find out the wrangler and cherokee share this same exact part. jeep has focused on cutting productions costs rather than safety. this needs to be addressed to jeep and chrysler immediately.

After being parked for three days, an loud noise was coming from the engine compartment. the only way to get the noise to stop was to disconnect the battery. the jeep was towed in to the dealership, where it was determined that the toally integrated power module (tipm) was faulty, and caused power to be distributed to the windshield washer fluid pump until it failed. the tipm was replaced (for the third time since i've owned this jeep) as was the pump.

Cracked oil filter housing. vehicle was stationary for 5 days and upon return i noticed a puddle of oil under the bell housing. the vehicle only has roughly 20,000 miles on it so i suspected a rear main seal issue. upon inspection by my local jeep dealership it was found to be a cracked oil filter housing. this is a very dangerous issue that could leave drivers stranded and could pose serious safety concerns.

Observed oil leaking from the bottom of the vehicle and was able to locate the source of the leak on the top part of the engine around the oil filter. the leak was caused by a crack in the oil cooler housing and oil was covering the top part of the engine and running down on to the transmission and the exhaust. my vehicle only had 9516 mi on it so i decided to check on line to see if anyone else was having this problem with 2014 wrangler. i was able to locate at lease 50 other complaints with the exact same problem. this issue is just not an inconvenience but a safety hazard as well because oil on top of the engine and the exhaust is a fire hazard. this leak occurred both white the vehicle was moving and sitting still. the vehicle is currently being repaired at the dealer.

I had been driving for 5 kms. and it started smoking and went up in flames. have 11,000 kms on it. very low for a 2014. all check ups and oil changes to date by dealership.

Oil leak at the top of the motor, very common and seems to not be getting fixed and could cause issue stranding owners or with potential fire. part number that is causing the issue is 68105583. has been fixed but not sure when it will fail again and not be under warranty or cause me to be stranded int he back country.

August 14 2014 i buy the jeep in nov 11 i toke the jeep for over heed they test and told me nothing was found on set 5 the jeep over heed again i take to the dealer again they tell me nothing was found i know something is wrong because for no reasoned my radiator become empty please help. i want a new 2014 jeep with out any problem check your record for recall on the engine

Making a right hand turn at low speed, vehicle kept turning (drifting) right, attempted to correct to the left with no response, vehicle collided with a barrier post. jeep sustained significant front suspension damage, right fender and right wheel. at time of estimate, repair shop had found that the steering box had sheared and stated that the impact should not have caused this damage. they are investigating and will know more when they begin tear down.

Incident 1.) on august 17th, 2015 around 8:00 pm i was driving in the left lane of the gsp traveling at approximately 70 mph when my vehicle erroneously accelerated to 80 mph while simultaneously pulling slightly to the left. at first, i thought my carpet had been stuck but i quickly realized that this was not the case. being i had a manual shift, i immediately was able to shift into neutral. in doing so, the engine was still revving high thus making a loud engine sound (i did not get to see the actual rpm.) i began kicking the side of the gas pedal while trying to pull slightly to the right to keep the vehicle on the road. eventually the car just went back to normal. this whole process may have been about twenty to thirty seconds long. incident 2.) on august 18th, 2015 around 6:20 am (not even 12 hours from the first incident above) i was driving in the left lane of the gsp traveling at approximately 70- 75 mph when my vehicle erroneously braked hard as if it was a €œbrake check€ and the abs traction control light lit at the same time. it was like i slammed on my brakes only this happened while my foot was on the accelerator. i quickly looked in my rear view mirror and saw the car behind me shoot into the adjacent lane to my right in avoidance of a collision with my rear of the vehicle. this happened quickly and harshly and then it was over. i moved into the right lane and continued to work with caution. i called my local jeep service center and explained my situation. they were going to schedule me for the earliest appointment of august 31st 2015 but i stressed that this was not good enough as it was a potential serious safety issue to myself and others. i was directed to bring it in tomorrow 8-19-15 in the morning.

The engine, stability, battery, and several other lights including will come on and the needle showing the rpm will fall to zero. the radio will also shut off. then about 3 seconds the lights will go off , rpm needle will position itself back to were it was and the radio will come on. the problem i have described has happened several more times and each time is not the same. sometimes the radio goes off and then come back on. other times the lights on the dash come on and go off. the problem seems to happen randomly ( no particular time, speed, weather conditions, etc.)

Went to start the vehicle and when i went to turn the key the jeep lost power to all electrical systems. after waiting for a bit the system "rebooted" and i was able to start the vehicle and go. however, this keeps happening sometimes multiple times a day and sometimes once per week. we have taken it to the dealership for repairs and they updated the wcm software to version 0.20 and the problem still exists. we have also had episodes of the electrical systems going out while driving causing the engine to sputter, instrument panel goes dark, radio shuts off, ac fans shut off, etc.. *tr

Easter sunday morning drove from country home 7 miles into town to church, no stopping and slowing down just a couple of times. parked, locked vehicle and walked into church lobby. stopped to speak to a man when he noticed black smoke in the parking lot. turned and saw that it was coming from under the hood of my jeep. within a minute flames started. fire department was called and responded within a few minutes, but not before flames from the passenger front side jumped onto the car parked next to the jeep. both vehicles were burned up and totaled. flames started on the front right side (passenger). *tr

Purchased vehicle 3/31/15. put 400 miles on vehicle and noticed burning oil smell. checked underneath and noticed significant oil leak all around engine coming from the upper part of engine. took into shop and they diagnosed problem of the oil filter adaptor part#68105583aa being cracked and oil pumping out of it. they called dealership(dewayne lane) in wa and they advised they "had plenty of those parts". mechanic then said, "oh! it's a recall then." dealer then stated, "ahhhhhhh....no-but we sure replace a lot of those." *tr

While driving on the interstate, i accidentally bumped the keys of my jeep wrangler unlimited with my knee, and the key turned counter-clockwise enough to turn the car off. obviously, when the car turned off, the brakes and steering lost power. luckily, there was no traffic around me, and i was able to carefully coast to the shoulder and re-start my car. my vehicle is manual, so i could have restarted from neutral, but based on discussion boards, automatics do not have that luxury. doing a quick google search for "jeep bump key" yields many discussions about this same problem. i understand that jeep currently has a recall for this problem in commanders and grand cherokees, but there is nothing for wranglers. i called my dealership, but they will not diagnose or replace anything for free without an active recall. i am 6' and do not sit excessively close to the steering wheel. my key chain is not large or cluttered, and it should not be that easy to turn off my wrangler accidentally. *tr

I noticed a burning smell a few nights ago before noticing an oil spill in my garage. i looked under the help and saw oil everywhere! i wasn't sure where it was coming from. it looked like maybe a seal busted from the oil pan. i took it to the dealership right away since it was still under warranty. there is oil all over the rear of the engine,i feel it will eventually start a fire! this should be recalled since there are many wranglers and other models with the same part, having the same issue! *tr

As i was driving in the left lane, a driver in the right lane began to change lanes and nearly sideswiped me. i went to honk my horn, but it did not work. fortunately, there was no oncoming traffic - i had to move into that lane to avoid being hit until the other driver noticed me. i checked both fuses (apparently there is a left and right horn fuse) and both looked fine. the vehicle is back in the shop again. it has already had the tipm module replaced twice (november 2014 and march 2015) so it would not surprise me if it's going to have to be replaced yet again. *tr

Noticed oil in the garage after finally being able to park inside. called jeep dealership in niagara falls, ny but they were unable to schedule me an appointment for 5 days. the snow/ice in the driveway melted and i discovered oil stains on the cement pad where i had been parking. i was able to get into the jeep dealership in batavia, ny today and they called with the bad news of a cracked oil cooler spraying oil all down the back of the engine. isn't this a fire hazard. they have replaced 4 on other vehicles with the same engine this year (2015) already. thee should be a recall with a proper replacement. the current replacement is oem stock. *tr

At around 3:45 am, while i was sleeping, the horn on started intermittently blaring. i looked out the window and the reverse lights were on (at full brightness). for the next hour, it would start and stop randomly. i finally disconnected the battery in frustration. earlier the previous evening, the headlights came on and stayed on. i had not used the jeep for the previous two days. this issue is clearly related to the totally integrated power module (tipm) which has already been replaced once in this vehicle (which had caused the jeep to stall -- and completely die -- several times). i am extremely concerned for my safety with this vehicle and this issue. this is a serious problem that has already cost some people their lives. please address this and force jeep to do a recall. *tr

The jeep is less than a year old. it was handling very poorly on the road so i took it to have it checked. jeep considers these wear items not covered under warranty. my shop said the one's on jeep are junk and they have seen failures as low as 326 miles! my dodge truck had a similar issue at 75k miles and dodge replaced the whole front end. not jeep. if you search the websites you will find the conclusion is that the parts jeep uses are junk. i replaced them with aftermarket parts from moog which has a lifetime warranty. i was not going to risk my family by installing cheap dangerous factory parts. my cost was $1600 to fix a new truck! no wonder jeep is rated the second worse vehicle made next to fiat! this is a serious issue that most consumers are unaware of. i thought it was a joke at first. when they showed me the parts, which i still have, there is zero resistance in 3 of the 4 ball joints. you should not be able to move them with your hard. they are like a pencil in a cup of water. amazing they would risk there customers lives with such garbage parts on a new 40k vehicle! i have the parts if you want them. this leads to death wobble and dangerous handling vehicles. my wife was complaining that the rig wonders all over the road. i drove it and agreed it was dangerous as you had to constantly correct the and fight the wheel to keep it going straight down the highway. not a safe situation and very dangerous. i figured is no one brought it to your attention it is only going to cost someone there life. it most likely already has. you would have to take the wrecked jeep apart to see the defective steering components. very disgusted on jeep's decision to save a few dollars at the expensive of safety. *tr

I am requesting that dot nhtsa investigate the stress fracture to my front windshield which suddenly occurred in late february of 2015. the jeep was parked in my mother's driveway in new jersey for approximately 3 weeks due to the birth of my baby and inclement weather. during that period a great deal of ice and snow accumulated. eventually i started the vehicle, and started clearing the car. i noticed a crack in the window on the passenger side running from the bottom toward the top, approximately 4"-5" long that had not been there before. after 15 minutes the crack spread to 6" across and then back down the windshield to the point where it partly blocked the front windshield. the window feels perfectly smooth, both inside and outside the car. it clearly formed inside the window. i took the jeep to the local dealer who said it was a stress fracture probably due to freezing conditions along with the heat from the defroster. the individual i spoke with conceded it was in all probability a manufacturing defect since he had heard of "a lot of other cases like mine" but would not be quoted on that. he contacted chrysler who refused to cover the windshield damage because although i only had the vehicle for seven months, the mileage was over 12,000. i have continued to investigate incidences of stress fracture damage to front windshields in the jeeps and have collected a significant amount of data through numerous complaint blogs that supports the fact that either the jeep windshields themselves are defective or some problem with the vehicle design itself makes it possible for considerable heat to be trapped between the windshield and dashboard to the point where stress causes the window to crack. rather than address the issue, chrysler is instead forcing owners to go through their private insurance for repairs. please formally investigate." *tr

Oil housing cooler was apparently cracked and leaking oil onto my engine. the cel came on and vehicle itself gave no error codes. made an appointment and took it to the dealership. probably put 40 miles on it in between not noticing oil loss being parked on the street. spouse noticed loss of acceleration during trip home from work. jeep didn't seem to be running any different so drove it to the dealership. i don't know how low my oil pressure was and if it caused damage to my engine. did notice a good amount of oil on the ground after the fact.

Burning smell, oil spots and puddles under vehicle. dealer diagnosed oil leak coming from cracked oil filter adapter housing. part is defective and allows significant and dangerous amounts of oil to collect in the engine compartment. technician found valley of engine full of oil, under vehicle, on transmission and oil accumulated in the skid plates under the vehicle. oil accumulation poses significant danger and fire hazard with potential serious damage to vehicle engine and its occupants in the event of engine compartment fire due to accumulated oil in the engine valley. chrysler case manager and service manager acknowledged part is a manufacturers defect. part was replaced under warranty. dealer reported they are seeing 2014 vehicles come in with this problem. *tr

Malfunction indicator light comes on repeatedly. implausible data reported from a module that the dealership claims is not even in the vehicle. occasionally the vehicle will not go above about 1800 rpm and 15 miles an hour. at other times the rpms will surge up into the 5000-6000 range and not shift out of 1st gear. dealerships claim there are no problems but the shifting problem continues to occur and the malfunction indicator light keeps coming on. *tr

Burning smell of oil, part was cracked. dealership even said it is a poor design. this needs to be a recall. this could've been a fire or an engine disaster with the amount of oil coming out of the vehicle. *tr

I have a 2014 wrangler jk with 10,900 miles and i have a 5 mile drive to work. two days ago, january 14, 2015 as i exited the vehicle, i smell burnt oil. i lifted the hood, i don't see anything like oil. i looked underneath for a drip or puddle, but i saw nothing. as i left work later that afternoon, i looked under the jeep and there appeared to be a slight puddle of leaking oil. i drove 5 miles home. after i got there, i observed a good sized oil puddle on the driveway midway under jeep with smoke coming out of the exhaust! i had jeep towed to dealership and i was i just advised that it was the oil cooler/adapter housing. i had 10,900 miles on odometer when it occurred. i hope chrysler engineers a replacement part fast! otherwise, the fine folks at jeep may be looking at catastrophic engine failure and/or fire from oil coming in contact with hot engine or drive line parts on all of the my 2014 jks! this is a known issue that was first reported in may 2014. *tr

I am seeing an issue when i drive the vehicle first time in the mornings maybe 5-7 days a week. i own a 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited sport (automatic transmission), with a rubicon express leveling kit, tire size 315/17 after i start the vehicle weather i leave a minute after or let it idle for several minutes it does not change anything. i leave a minute after or let it idle for several minutes most times and then i am on my way. after reaching an initial speed of 40-45 for the first mile, i slow down normally approaching the first stop (foot on brake). at this point the tachometer is down below the 1500-1000 range; the vehicle starts to shutter as if i have my foot on the gas pedal as well. coming to a complete stop the tachometer is erratic from idle to the 1500 or so range and the vehicle is vibrating and if i don?t let off the brake the vehicle stalls. putting it in park it starts normally does not happen again until the next day, once after work one night. the worst happened last week when i restarted and went from park to drive, it seem to stay in park as the rpms went up but did not move forward. i put it back in park and then to drive and it moved as it should. could not decide what to choose for affected parts could also be; engine, fuel/propulsion, electrical? i have taken it to the dealer but of course they said they can't find anything! will take it back again with the following referenced http://www.carcomplaints.com/jeep/wrangler/2014/engine/runs_rough_stalls_frequently_when_stopping.shtml. *tr

I experienced the oil leak from the oil cooler. replaced with the ab part. this could potentially be a devastating incident. either too far away from dealer\shop or a fire. the amount of oil leaking was absurd. clearly this should be a recall. *tr

Vehicle is leaking oil at a rapid rate and smoking - could catch on fire cannot get it into a dealership in my area - was turned away because of lack of room/overcrowded. warranty is trying to find a place to take it to but in the meantime i have nothing to drive and have a job and a child to get to school. *tr

I started jeep, the radio channel mysteriously changed, drove approx 1 mile, came to a stop light at a busy mountain intersection and the entire jeep blacked out, i lost all functions, we were almost rear ended and t boned at the same time, returned the jeep to park and restarted. i took the jeep to dealer they said they couldn't recreate problem, i drove jeep off the property only to have it die at the first traffic light, put into park restarted only to have it die again. finally made it back to jeep, they've had it for a week and they claim they still cant find the problem. i don't trust the vehicle nor do i feel safe driving this vehicle in the mountains which is where i live. also note, the entire vehicle lost all power, so does that mean the airbags wont deploy. this is unacceptable. *tr

During a snow event on jan 3, 2015, my windshield wipers stopped working all together (it was snowing and about 36 degrees). i could hear a click coming from below the fuse box, but they were not working so i had no visibility and had to pull over. i pulled the fuse from the block think maybe it somehow became loose and replaced (with the same) and the wipers started working again. i continued on with my day. on jan. 6, during another snow event, the same thing happened as i pulled out of a 40 degree garage. this time i could not get them to start working so i needed to have it towed to a garage. this is still under warranty, and so far the evaluation has been that the wipers are now working, but there is a code displayed that the wipers had a fault, but they don't know what to replace. i sure hope this doesn't happen when i'm on a highway going 65 mph next to a truck throwing up road salt onto my windshield. *tr

The engine oil cooler/filter unit on top of the engine cracked spraying oil all over the engine and down in the engine valley. then the oil leaked down and covered the underside of the vehicle. *tr

Developed severe engine leak. diagnosed it to be the oil filter housing filter cracked. required new adapter part number 68105583aa. this could cause a fire or engine being drained of all oil. this appears to be a known issue after doing a google search. *tr

I have a cracked oil filter housing that seems to be a common issue with this year model jeep. the local dealer is about 920 back ordered which tells me that this is a major problem. please look in to this! if this would have happened while driving it could have caused the engine to lock up and may have caused an accident. *js

Jeep completely died (lost all power, including all electrical, brake lights, panel lights, etc) in condo parking lot. got out to start pushing it back to parking spot, and a few seconds later the door chime started and power was restored. radio was booting up from cold start (showing garmin logo). restarted car, it turned over and started normally. started driving forward again, and in about 20 feet, it completely died again in the same way, and came back to life about ten seconds later. decided it was not safe to drive, and was able to restart again and reverse to parking spot. jeep was towed on november 3 and repaired on november 4 when the part came in. i was told that the tipm was replaced with a new version that didn't have the same type of problems. *tr

First time it happened, i was pulling out of a red light and it seemed the jeep wouldn't shift gears, the rpms revved up and it seemed as though the transmission was not keeping up with the rpms. this continued for a couple seconds and i pulled to the birm of the road and put the jeep in neutral. i then proceeded to put it in drive and pulled out. i took my jeep to the dealer (jeep in newnan ga) and they told me nothing was wrong. the computer didn't diagnose any problem. this has since happened two more times. the last incident was on october 3rd when my wife was driving. the person behind her almost wrecked into her. *tr

I took it to big o tire to have the ball joints replaced as i knew that since i have over size tires and a lift kit that they would not be covered under warranty. i have been smelling oil for a couple of days, and checked it when i left winslow az. to go home to kingman az. and it was just a bit low. so when i picked it up from big o tire for the ball joint replacement they told me it was 3 quarts low on oil (that's a 186 mile trip) and they filled it, i took it straight to martin swanty chrysler jeep in kingman az. which is where i live. they looked it over and told me it was a spill from when i had the oil changed at oil can henry's. they cleaned it up a bit and charged me 72.00 and told me i was good to go. i took it to the car wash and flushed the engine valley out really good and drove it home. i looked in the engine valley and verified that there was only water in the valley around the oil filter, but when i got home it was full of oil again, so i goggled the problem and found this on http://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/2014-cracked-oil-cooler-housings-looks-like-a-serious-issue-698297-13.html wrangler forum and searched for 2014 jku oil leak and found it to be a oil cooler leak that looks like it is common on the 2014 models and most dealers don't know about it ???? this is friday 09-12-2014, this is my work vehicle as i work pipeline. i will take it back to the dealer monday. *tr

Observed oil under the vehicle. suspected that the oil cooler was leaking based upon others with the same problem. observed a large puddle of oil in the valley of engine at the oil cooler. all this was observed after the second oil change (dealer). parts manager at dealer stated this is a big problem on the 2014 models with the 3.2 and 3.6 engine. depending how large the crack is on the cooler this could cause all the oil to be evacuated from the engine causing a fire with the hot exhaust or seizing the engine causing a crash. the oil filter/cooler was redesigned for the 2014 model year. at this point it seems to be affecting the 2014 model year. *tr

Incident: while stopping in traffic with the foot firmly on the brake my jeep had an unintended acceleration causing a rear in crash. this unintended acceleration happen before on a trip to tennessee in june but was thought to be the floor mat which now is known not to be the case. ( both were witnessed by the passenger) these incidents and complaint were given to chrysler regarding the experience with the vehicle accelerating and surging. however, chrysler denied any responsibility regarding the malfunction which resulted in the accident. because i realized the jeep was unsafe to drive. i had it towed to the local chrysler jeep dealer. due to safety concerns and to protect life and property. i refuse to drive the vehicle again and bought another car. the dealership where i purchased my new vehicle was told not to sell it until the timp is replaced in the jeep. this mishap has cost me several thousand dollars which should had been paid for by chrysler. *tr

I have a two month old jeep wrangler 2014, 4 door with 1898 miles on it and it wouldn't start. it was completely dead. we tried to jump start it and absolutely nothing happened. towed it to the dealer and they said they were perplexed and needed to figure out what the problem was and they were not getting power to anything at all and hadn't seen anything like this. after keeping it for a day they said it was the pdc battery main power cable that was not electrically tight. the interesting thing is it still hesitates to start on occasion and it is a brand new car. this is very troubling to me as i have heard of this problem in other chrysler vehicles and worry it could just stop working while i am driving it.

On july 3, 2014, the vehicle lost engine power while i was driving during a 150-mile road trip. upon coasting for a short distance, engine power restored, and i was able to accelerate and continue driving without further trouble that day. i did not take the vehicle to the dealer for repair because i assumed it was an isolated episode. however, on july 22, 2014, i again had trouble while on another 300-mile round-trip road trip. during the return drive, the vehicle lost engine power at least six times both on the interstate and on local roads. each time, i had to coast to the side of the road so as to not block the flow of traffic. after a short time, about 30 seconds, engine power restored, and i was again able to accelerate and continue on with my trip. i took the vehicle in to the dealer on july 23, 2014, where it was kept until july 28, 2014. the technicians were unable to reproduce the issue, and the problem could not be identified. software updates were run in an attempt to correct the problem. i again had trouble with the vehicle on august 18, 2014, when driving a 400-mile round-trip road trip. during the drive, the vehicle lost engine power five times on the interstate, at speeds up to 70 miles per hour. upon the fifth episode that day, i took the vehicle to the closest dealer for immediate attention, as i feared i would cause an accident by losing engine power while driving on a busy interstate. the service department was unable to reproduce the issue, but the technician stated that he saw signs of the problem i described during his evaluative drive. the vehicle was released to me and i was told to take it back to the usual dealer the following day for a more comprehensive evaluation. upon driving it for over 100 miles, the service department has been unable to replicate the problem and, thus, again has been unable to identify and repair the issue. *tr

Was traveling in our 3 week old 2014 jeep wrangler 2 door automatic in central california. heading west on a remote two lane highway in approx. 84 degree dry conditions. speed limit in this area is 55. i came upon a farm truck who was traveling at approx. 45-50 mph. when conditions were safe, i pulled into the oncoming lane and proceeded to accelerate very hard to pass the farm vehicle in a safe distance. the cruise control was on but was currently not in use. as i was almost around the farm vehicle i took my foot off the gas but the vehicle continued to accelerate at full throttle. i first viewed the road ahead of me to see if it was clear while at the same time i stomped on the brake. i also turned the cruise control completely off. an error message flashed on the dash however due to the circumstances i did not see what it indicated. the braking helped but as soon as i took the foot off the brake it continued to accelerate at full throttle. i would estimate that the jeep reached a speed of 100 when this happened. i then prepared to place the vehicle in neutral but first reached and grabbed the floor mat and yanked it as hard as i could to pull it away from the gas pedal as i was still unsure of what was happening. the issue felt more like an electronic issue then a gas pedal caught on a floor mat. however this did seem to stop the sudden acceleration. once home i verified that i could not see in any way how the floor mat would hold down the gas pedal as the gas pedal snaps back with quite a bit of force when pushing the floor mat in front of the pedal. this very well may have been caused by the floor mat however i would like to document what happened. *tr

At approx 50 miles per hour, vehicle breaks into a extremely severe shaking rendering it uncontrollable. condition happens 2 or 3 times per day. dealer has reviewed 4 times and replaced components to no avail. finally telling me to buy new tires. web research shows this affliction has been named "death wobble" dealers last adjustment of tow in seemed to cure temporarily. now that it is in the 50 degree range again it happens multiple times daily. if this were to happen on snow or ice, i don't think i could control it at all. *tr

3rd time at this point. while driving the vehicle suddenly the wipers turn on and dashboard lights begin to flash followed by vehicle shutting off by itself. once the vehicle dies it will not restart. 1st trip to dealer could not replicate. 5 hours later vehicle died while driving and was towed back to dealer-dealer able to replicate and replaced tipm (totally integrated power module). 3 days later problem returned with vehicle failing to start while parked in driveway. going back to dealer this morning. this is an incredibly dangerous situation if vehicle unexpectedly and randomly dies while in motion and in traffic. *tr

Purchased a new 2014 jeep wrangler with manual transmission in september 2013. on july 21,2014 i was parking the vehicle and pulled on the parking brake and heard a popping noise. the parking brake failed and will now not hold the vehicle in place. i took the vehicle into a jeep dealership to have the part fixed on july 23, 2014 and was notified that the "parking lever" was broken and needed to be replaced. the replacement part is on "backorder" and the dealer could not give me any timeline on when the part would be replaced. considering this is a manual vehicle, the parking brake is needed to safely operate the vehicle. i have contacted jeep corporate regarding my issue and have received no response. upon doing further research, it appears this issue is common with jeep wranglers and many people have had incidents where their jeep has rolled away. this is a safety issue and could eventually result in an injury or fatality. i do not feel safe operating my jeep wrangler until jeep takes action to fix the problem. *tr

I purchased a 2014 jeep wrangler, unlimited freedom edition on february 21, 2014. on june 28, 2014, i was driving the above named jeep on an interstate at a speed of approximately 65-70 mph. the jeep has a "soft" top. (i have never touched the top because i didn't know how to perform the task of retracting the top to fold down or fold it up to reattach the top. i decided that when i wanted to retract the top that i'd have to read the instructions from the jeep owner's guide and then perform the task. i've had the jeep for approximately 4 months. i don't drive it much, therefore i had not decided to try and perform that task yet.) as i was traveling on the interstate, as mentioned above, the top on the jeep unpredictably flew open and backward. the jeep top, after the incident, was hanging on the jeep about 1/4 parts on the rear top of the jeep. the remainder of the jeep top had broken and detached from the body structure of the jeep from the upper front top to about 3/4 parts of the way backward, toward the rear of the jeep. i was so afraid and in horrific shock! i pulled over off the interstate and turned the jeep off. i was shaking out of fear and shock from this incident. all i could think at that moment was..."what if that top had flown all the way off of the jeep and caused another person in a vehicle near me, on the interstate, to have an accident and perhaps been killed". i am horrified!!! i, personally, would consider this a serious safety defect! *tr

I took my jeep in for an oil change and tire rotation. they found massive amounts of oil leaking, but not from the oil pan. my car was bought in october/november 2013 new. they have had my car for 5 days. it appears from reading the other postings this seems to be happening with 2014 jeep wranglers. *js

I just drove my vehicle and then parked it at my home on a driveway that has a slight incline. i parked vehicle in 1st gear (6 speed manual transmission), and applied the parking brake. approximately 10 minutes later i was in my yard and heard a muffled pop noise and then a clicking sound that resembled a roller coaster ride when the cars are being pulled up a steep hill. i turned around and saw my vehicle going down the driveway. it collided with my wife's vehicle then hit a tree. the vehicle has 2800 miles on it. when i got in vehicle the shift was in 1st gear, and brake applied. i started the vehicle and let off the clutch and the vehicle moved forward, indicating that it was in fact in first gear still. i duplicated where i parked it again and it moved backwards again. after multiple reenactments the vehicle would move until 3-5 min later it would make a sudden movement in reverse for about 6-12 inches. *tr

I was traveling on freeway 880 south in milpitas, california on monday, may 5th at approx 8pm. the weather was clear and dry and traffic was light this evening. i was traveling to cupertino so i was making my way onto the 237 freeway, i was currently on the 237 ramp, midway thru ramp onto 237 at exactly 65 mph when the traction control failure light flashed on and the vehicle lost all power while traveling on freeway vehicle quickly went from 65 to 50mph while light was flashing. i was completely surprised and looked at my dash and immediately took my foot off the accelerator pedal in response, the light went out immediately and i reapplied throttle pedal and throttle response was normal. this is the 3rd time traction control light has come on my vehicle improperly on my vehicle in 3,807 miles of driving. i have taken to dealer 4 times now for repair and they are unable to duplicate and unable to repair condition. jeep refuses to take vehicle back but allows vehicle to be out in the hands of the consumer while i have to perform a lemon law complaint. mark my words nhtsa and chrysler corporation, this vehicle will cause an accident and chrysler will be responsible because they were advised. *tr

Oil noted dripping from the transmission case seam onto the exhaust crossover pipe. probably did not catch fire due to the cold (11f) winter temperatures. oil leak was found to be caused by defective rear main seal. previous oil change (the first one for this vehicle) performed professionally. oil replenished was "5.90 quarts" in a nominal 6 quart system. vehicle: 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited jku, 3.6l "pentastar" engine, 6 speed manual transmission. *tr

Stopped at a traffic light when noticing a light gray smoke around the vehicle. continued from the stop light when the smoke started to get more darker and black. realized the smoke was coming from the vehicle and i drove to side of the road. open the driver side of the vehicle and smoke were coming from the front of the vehicle and from under the vehicle. i then turned the ignition key off and exit the vehicle. when getting across the road from the vehicle i turned and saw fire coming from the vehicle. this statement was made by the driver of the vehicle (the wife of the owner of the vehicle). *tr

Transition & engine coolant temp immediately rose to alarm status (300 degrees) in first ever light duty 4 wd application. off road 4wd conditions and terrain consisted of a 5% grade in low cut hay field. alarm indicated immediate corrective action was necessary. vehicle temperature gauges were rising from normal tolerances to alarm status in two minutes. corrective action included cutting engine to cool. corrective action also required blower and heater on highest settings to cool block and maintain operable driving condition temperatures. engaging in the slightest load while 4 wheel drive train was engaged (off road) immediately replicated severe overheating condition of both tranny and block coolant. vehicle was operable at normal operating temperatures at high speeds in two wheel drive while on pavement only. vehicle is a 2014 jeep sahara unlimited wrangler with "v" 6 cyl motor automatic transmission with 2,900 miles on odometer (vehicle is brand new purchased in march 2014 - date of this report is april 2014). *tr

Went to stop at light, hit the brake it was hard and did not engage, i stopped because i hit the car in front of me. brakes never engaged, pulled the emergency brake before exiting the vehicle to check on the people in the car in front of me and the brakes seemed to let out air and relax. the brakes felt normal at that point. post accident police escorted be to dealership to make sure that brakes continued to work. dealership claimed nothing wrong, spoke to neutral mechanics and they all stated that it was a problem that would occur again and that the brakes would seem fine in the meantime. explained this to jeep and they said brakes were fine. *tr

Compliant about not fixing recall within reasonable time. received recall notice in january and have been told that parts are not available. i was told by both the dealership and chrysler group recall assistance center that when parts are available, they only receive/ship one part to each dealership. current wait time according to dealership based on the waiting list is over 6 months. *tr

This complaint is not related to an accident, but to a potentially serious design flaw. the us version of the 4-door, 5 seater jeep does not have a head restraint in the center rear seat. does this really comply with all nhtsa requirements? how can a car company in 2014 call the car a 5-seater but only have 4 head restraints? the uk version of the same car has 3 head restraints in the rear seat so it is possible. this is incredibly unsafe and i can't believe it meets the guidelines. *tr

In january 2014 i purchased a brand new 2014 jeep wrangler at river oaks chrysler jeep in houston, tx and around march 1st i noticed oil leaking from my vehicle. i was unsure it was my vehicle because i assumed it was a new vehicle that there is not way it could be my jeep. on march 5th 2014 i had a lot of oil spill out of my vehicle. i took the jeep into the dealership on march 6th and they noticed the spilling of oil. i dropped of my jeep with them and they said they fixed it. they said that my oil cooler was leaking. and they replaced the oil cooler. come to find out this is a major fire hazard. a brand new car and the oil cooler fails. they were really vague as to why this happened and brushed me off telling me "its fixed, don't worry about it". i don't feel comfortable now driving my jeep and i am concerned if this is a lemon car. i spoke to several managers over at river oaks chrysler jeep and they seemed to brush me off and would tell me "you are getting mad over a car; one of our sales just found out he has cancer". this was very unfair and i am not happy with what i purchased. please help. *tr ....updated 08/20/15 *bf

I already brought it to the dealer once and they said nothing wrong and nothing recorded. what happened, driving down the road and every warning light came on flashing then stops. the traction control light stayed on. the second time they all lit up when i stopped the jeep didn't start, everything had power just didn't start and when i took the key out the instrument panel said key still in the ignition. after about 20 minutes the jeep started and the engine check light was on. took it in to dealer and they said nothing wrong bring it in when it happens again. and it happened again as i described above. found on another forum that they had to get the sensor replaced. anyone else have this problem and if so what did you find out to correct the issue. i am bringing it back to the dealer monday. *tr

Everytime i fill up the tank of my 2014 jeep wrangler it spurts out gas and overflows spilling gas all over myself and the ground, which causes safety and bioenvironmental hazards. i have tried gas pumps at numerous other gas stations and i get the same results everytime. wanting to investigate the issue behind why this is happening i went online and found multiple other cases with other mopar customers. some people have had the issue fixed by having the gas tank replaced, but in some cases the issue returned. *tr

The cel (check engine light) or mil has been turned three times (dtc code p2099). the dealer has not found the problem, the dealer review the vehicle and all is ok. the dealer changes the pcm (powertrain control module), but the problem continues, the cel (check engine light) light has become a turn.

While driving at highway speeds 65 mph the hood bounced up and hit the secondary latch when on comming traffic passes.

I was driving in my parking garage at about 12mph and went to take a sharp right turn. when i went to make the hard right turn, the brakes seemed to lock up and the car did not stop. i could feel the vibrations through my feet and luckily was still able to steer the vehicle clear of the cement wall. *tr

I was driving downhill on the freeway (just east of snowville, ut) at approx 70 mph (speed limit 80), when the jeep suddenly shifted into a much lower gear (1st or 2nd). of course we spun out--first one way, then the other as i fought for control i either got it into neutral or it went into neutral itself and i regained control and got it to the side of the road. i was very lucky not to have rolled the vehicle or hit other vehicles, and my wife said she would have rolled it. after i got it to the side of the road, it would not go into gear for sometime and the engine light went on. after three or four tries, it eventually went into gear and the engine light stayed on, and we drove the 60 miles or so back home at a much slower speed. i drove it to the dealer the following day and they said to bring it back on monday, which i did and they kept it several days but could not find the problem. my wife won't drive the vehicle at all now, and i am afraid to drive it at freeway speeds, though it now seems to be driving ok. of course i'm concerned that this might happen to me again, but i'm also concerned that it might happen to someone with less driving experience and kill someone. *tr
