2014 JEEP Patriot

The vehicle will not start including any electrical except for \"No Bus\" on the Dashboard. This does not occur every time but the only temporary solution is to disconnect and reconnect the battery.

Whenever I take road trips, my vehicle starts making a loud whining sound, loses power and the transmission temperature warning light comes on. Not towing, no A/C, not carrying heavy weight. I have to pull over around 10 different times to wait for the light to go off and make it from Denver up I-70 into the mountains. I can only go about 40 mph which is extremely dangerous, even the semi trucks are passing me and I am lucky I have not been rear-ended. I have taken the vehicle into the dealership twice now; no error codes = nothing for them to fix.

TIPM went out. Car wouldn\'t start. Towed to local dealership. Dealership to charge 1200 to repair

Tipm failure. Car would not start, lock/unlock wirelessly, lights, windshield, radio, all would not work.

i was driving 35mph and a guy turned directly in front of me leaving my vehicle unable to move. No airbags Chrysler said the rate of deceleration was not met to set the bags off. I guess the are waiting for someone to get hurt or worse before they address the problem.

water is leaking from dome light.

vehicle is leaking water through dome lights. mostly cargo area. 2nd trip to the dealership, was not repaired first time.

After a severe rainstorm, discovered water on my dashboard and in the dome light and, subsequently, the passenger side dome light no longer works. Leak is apparently from the sunroof.

The problem I am having is with the sunroof. I bought this vehicle brand new and for the first few months I never had a problem. One morning after a night of very heavy rain I get into my Jeep and my dashboard along with radio, climate control, and gear shifter is soaked with water. It was coming out of the Light bezel through the switch opening. I took it in to the dealer immediately. According to the service adviser they had found a drain tube that had been loose. Everything was fine for a few weeks until there was another night of heavy rain.. Now there is water coming out of both the front and back overhead lights. Cup holders full of water along with drenched carpet. My Jeep is still currently in the shop for this issue that they cant seem to solve. I am worried about the damage to all of the electrical accessories along with the Safety features such as overhead airbags that had to of gotten wet. I am also concerned that mold will eventually grow under the carpeting. Its a shame that Chrysler would continue to manufacture patriots and other Jeeps that have this problem. There is no recall and no apparent fix for this ongoing problem. I love my Jeep and I want Chrysler to fix it.

Was driving 55 on highway and jeep started sputtering and jumping. then check engine light and throttle body sensor light came on. limped it home with flashers on at 30 mph. it would not go any faster.

Driver stood outside the vehicle with it running and in parked position. a child in the back seat grabbed the gear shifter and was able to shift vehicle into the drive position causing a minor collision.

I was sitting in my car getting ready to leave a parking space i backed out and then i heard a pop i didn’t know where it came from i looked around the vehicle i didn’t see anything once i got back into the vehicle i noticed that my headrest had popped out i was not hit by anything it just popped out

The exhaust manifolds seem to be cracking in the same place. but the most popular issues is the red lightning bolt- check engine light(u0401)- and the traction controlf lights come on the dash and the car is stuck in "limp mode" and everyone is saying on jeeps site that its the throttle body and then some still have problems after that. i saw online there is a recall for the breaks, the engine in 2013, and the airbags and seat belt on the passenger side but i go to all the official sites and when i use my vin the only recall is for the seatbelt. please help

Brakes needed replaced left rear only after 12,000 miles,1rotor was severely chewed up and pads,right side very good condition. every bump cause pad to rub and stick to rotor.

While driving in motion on a highway, since then and going forward it throws same lights on cluster each 1/4 mile!!! my vehicle throws a few warning lights on the instrument cluster(e.t.c.aka electronic throttle control, traction control, and check engine.) the vehicle starts to sputter and completely comes to a stall. i pull over as safe as i can and turn engine off then back on only to see no lights except check engine. tried to drive home remaining short distance only to get same lights thrown on instrument cluster then sputters and stalls out.

Passenger seat active head headrest (ahr) deployed on its own without any accident. plastic 'pin' that holds springs snapped off. vehicle was stationary, unoccupied and parked in driveway when deployed. sound could be heard outside car alerting me to the deployment.

The check engine light came on and the car had a roughy start just three weeks ago and i was told i had a bad alternator my car stopped when i was driving. then it happened again three weeks later and i was told my 2014 jeep patriot had a bad throttle body and again my vehicle stopped as it was in motion in traffic. the first time it stopped i was on a city street the second time i hadn’t even cleared my driveway it stopped in the street and i was able to start it again i parked it in my driveway and then had it towed to the dealership

The driver seat headrest deployed without warning or cause. the car was parked in my driveway overnight, no car or object hit the car. when i got in the car and put it in reverse i noticed the headrest had been deployed. it was possible it happened over night or as the car was stationary and put in reverse. this is extremely dangerous and is a well known problem online. there is no recall for this and this will apparently cost me $800 or more to repair, or i can drive around with no head rest.

I was in an accident where i swerved to avoid hitting a coyote and ended up running up on a curb, over 2 trees, and into a pole. i was going about 35 mph. the accident did $5400 in damage but my seat belt never locked up and the airbags never deployed.

On three occasions in the past two years and three months my 2014 jeep patriot began surging and stalling during highway driving. each time this happens the electronic throttle control indicator light comes on. the solution offered in the owners manual is a real joke, because it instructs the owner to pull over, put the car in park, and turn the car on and off several times until the system resets. the second time this happened i took the jeep to a jeep dealer who said they downloaded new software that would solve the problem. however, it did not correct the issue, four months later it happened again. this is not a solution, it is a dangerous band-aid and jeep should issue a recall and fix the problem.

Brakes have been squeaking since june. discussed it again with dealership & was told brakes are fine & it's "normal". this occurs when backing out of driveway which is not very steep & even braking at a stop sign at 20 mph on a residential street. even when braking on flat surfaces out of parking spots in reverse.

Over past couple of months, vehicle had issues of start/no start. being frustrated, i took vehicle to dealer on 7/3/17. dealer replaced the tipm same day. on july 4th vehicle still experience start/no start. returned the vehicle back to the dealer on 7/6/17 and i am awaiting results from dealer regarding the issue. was told by the dealer chrysler is having issues with the tipm and excessive heat on engine seems to play a major factor in the failure of the tipm.

Received a recall notice about faulty airbag/seatbelt pretensioner. dealership says they have no fix yet but it's a big deal to me because this affects safety devices and potentially my family's safety. i had to hard brake the other day and my son's seat belt didn't lock and he fell over in his booster seat

Lost power when moving away from a signal light and making a left hand turn. the vehicle would only accelerate slowly. i was almost rear ended by the car behind us. pulled into a parking lot and turned the vehicle off and then back on and the vehicle seemed ok and was able to drive home about 10 miles. very scary! only 7,400 miles on vehicle.

The windshield wipers on my jeep will go off constantly and i have absolutely no control over them. the headlights will also turn on and off by themselves periodically with no warning or ability to control them. when it rains my windshield wipers and headlights are unpredictable and i can not drive safely. i believe these issues may be in connection to the recent nhtsa recall #16v-668 manufacturer recall #s61. this issue has been going on since july of 2016 and happens whenever my car is turned on. at this point in time, chrysler automotive has failed to remedy the situation.

When vehicle operates in mountainous highways requiring 3000-3500 rpm for continuous long grade, or a series of smaller grades which heat the transmission. the computer is automatically programed to shut down the vehicle . this occurs without regards traffic, road conditions or safety. we bought the vehicle last year and have recorded 55 separate occasions of such operating hazards. this activity leaves the stranded vehicle at the edge of the roadway for prolonged periods of time as traffic flies by at excess of 65 mph or higher. the stranded vehicle represents a hazard to both the occupants of the vehicle as well as the vehicles in transit nearby. these stops for the vehicle can be as long as thirty minutes for cool down. the dangers posed by this activity are greatly enhanced when this occurs at night. traffic stopped with lights at roads edge are often confused with a moving vehicle and drivers plow into the rear of the stranded vehicle unknowing it is at a dead stop. these computer generated stops are inherently dangerous. the manufacturer is aware an unable to make the drive line modifications that would eliminate the dangers posed by this defect in engineering. it is hard to believe that this problem was not made aware to the manufacturer in testing trials of these particular vehicles. please help us with this lemon!!!

Atlanta recall: no replacement in sight recall september 13, 2016. how safe is this vehicle with my family. transmission replaced at 30,000.

My 2014 patriot is a 5 speed manual transmission with a 2.4 l engine. it has just under 54000 miles and has recently (within the past few months) started stalling while driving. luckily not super seriously to the point of losing all power and being stranded, but it's getting worse. thought i was imagining it due to no sensor or warning lights, then one day for a split second the etc light flashed. it's never flashed since and the car would never do anything when my boyfriend drove it. last week while stopped, waiting to make a right turn on dry pavement my traction control light flashed. finally last week as well my boyfriend felt it started temporarily while he was driving, on the freeway. now it has started not starting. all electrical will work, but absolutely nothing as far as engine. it had only done that couple times, now, today it did it four times in 4 hours. the fifth time it started to turn over, then died mid-turnover and wouldn't start again. it says there was originally a recall on this and a couple other years patriot, compass and some other chrysler models. not sure if mine was fixed or not now due to the problem arising at this point in time. i've only had the jeep since may 2015. contacted the dealer and i'll be taking it in hopefully next week but i have a deductible. 'if' my bumper to bumper warranty covers it, i'll have rental coverage which is better than some other people's stories i've read. is there anyone else experiencing more recent issues? most of what i've read was from last year sometime. i've also read that chrysler knows of this being a more current issue and refusing to do anything.

On numerous occasions, the transmission will overheat, indicated by a high pitch wine and then a warning light while at freeway speed. on my vehicle it does not seem to matter what the ambient temperature is. this then involves me sitting at the side of the highway, which is a huge safety concern. dealers do not or will not say there is a problem after checking the diagnostics, when it is plainly evident based on a wealth of internet sites tis is a common problem with the cvt transmission, particularly in a jeep patriot. this issue is happening with more frequent occurrences as time goes on. my issues started at 2500 miles, i am at 86,500 now. i can say that the issue has never started while driving on city streets, only happens at 60+ with as low as 2500 rpm indicated on the tachometer.

My vehicle was issued a safety recall in september of 2016 and a remedy has yet to be offered on the issue and it has been almost 10 months. i assumed safety would have been something they addressed in a more timely manner.

We are currently in our 4th stay at the dealership since may 2016 with the same problem. while driving, the electronic stability control and/or electronic throttle control indicator will ding and light up causing the wheels to lose power (it is like you are in neutral), the brakes to become hard (you can't depress them), and the steering becomes tight. the three previous times to the dealership (griffin dodge tifton ga), we've been told that they replaced the stability control sensor, the intake manifold gasket, wiring harness to the transmission, and most recently the cpu (feb 2017).

I received a recall notice and went to the website to sign up for notification when parts are available. it's been 8 months or so since the notice and still no repair. how long will this be allowed to go on? i wanted to give this car to my 16-year-old son but can't due to this issue.

After driving on the highway for about 2-3 hours, the transmission overheats and the car speed is forced down to about 35-40 mph. this is very dangerous when vehicles are traveling behind me and the car is effectively slamming on the brakes. while the vehicle may be operating as designed when the transmission overheats, it shouldn't overheat after 2-3 hours of highway driving. i am not hauling heavy cargo or exceeding the posted speed limits.

First - oil is changed on time and spark plugs with coils were replaced. maintenance is done on the car. approximately at around 58k miles, the car began to "skip" when accelerating when it reaches over 20 mph and reaching between 3-4 rpm. this was a random occurrence. today at 60k miles, the car on cruise control, on a small incline in the road, came to an almost complete stop (from 65 mph) and then accelerated as if i stomped on the gas - reaching almost 5 rpm before i was able to cancel the cruise control. the lights flashed briefly on the dash board but no error messages remained light. i called a reputable repair guy and without error lights there isn't much anyone can tell you. there are several other threads about this issue but nothing being done by chrysler due to the limited number of accidents. my incident today occurred during rush hour traffic and i could very well have been rear-ended or rear-ended someone else. will be contacting the dealership first thing in the morning but am very concerned as i work over 20 minutes away from my home. also verified no recalls by calling 1-800-247-9753 for this issue.

In september of 2016 jeep discovered a serious, possibly fatal risk potential associated with a sensor involved in restraining seat belts and deploying air bags "under certain impact conditions". as an owner, i was not apprised of this risk until june 20, 2017. then, when i inquired about the availability of a repair to correct this lemon i was "informed", "advised" there was no repair available and such repair(s) may not be available for six months. i was given a vague estimate, and vague "assurance" i would be apprised of repair availability when ready. i asked, "should i bee driving this flaw?" they had no specific guidance. seriously? accordinfly, i am invoking "lemon law" and demanding full liquidation of my existing auto loan at jeep's expense. if they do not oblige, i shall seek civil suit damages by jury trial for added emotional pain and suffering coupled with their failure to fully-disclose potential fatal flaw for over six months to jeep owners. i expect the nhtsa to manage this claim. period. what a mess. what country is this? is anyone watching and protecting consumers? i expect the nhtsa to force jeep to immediately undertake a full buyback program no later than july 1, 2017. period.

Someone in a 3/4 ton work van ran through a stop light and plowed in to the right passenger front / side of my jeep while i was making a left hand turn we were on the city streets.. the impact was so great that while making the left turn and being hit so hard my wife and i went through a pizza shop head on. none of the 8 air bags in my jeep went off. there is a recall for the jeeps air bags for which i did get a hold of the dealership and they told me that the recall is still open and no they do not have a fix at this time. now reading the jeeps factory user guide the air bags should have gone off. the jeep does have seat-mounted side air bags and from reading the factory user guide it states that this vehicle may be equipped with supplemental seat-mounted side air bags to provide enhanced protection to help protect an occupant during a side impact. if the air bags would have gone off my wife wouldn't have got so hurt. she now has a right cervical strain, lumbar contusion, and a right clavicle fracture. also with the head on collision into the building the front air bags should have gone off they did not.

Airbags failed to deploy in a 35 mph front end crash with another vehicle that made a left hand turn in front of my jeep patriot.

Received notice in september of 2016 that the occupant restraint controller was faulty and would result in a loss of airbag or seatbelt pretensioner in the event of a crash. i have contacted fca through their website as well as called my local jeep dealer (jim click auto mall) and are told only that there are no parts available. a year and no parts is not fixing a problem that could lead to death in a "timely manner".

The electronic throttle control on my 2014 jeep patriot latitude malfunctioned. while attempt to start the vehicle it bang to shake violently and bucked as i attempted to move it forward. the car has fewer than 50,000 miles on it. the electronic throttle control needed to be replaced per the dealers diagnostics. this was not covered under my powertrain warranty and, from what i've heard, is a common issue. i hope this results in a recall as this could have been dangerous had it happened once i was traveling.

Yesterday after exiting the freeway, the electronic throttle control light began flashing and driving was very jerky. today on the freeway, check engine light came on, followed by the traction control light and the electronic throttle control light was flashing again. luckily, safe mode didn't kick on until after exiting the highway as i was only able to accellerate to 20 mph the rest of the way home. the car does not seem to be shifting hard when trying to get up to speed on the highway . also, when starting out from a stop, it's chugging and jerking. it is throwing error codes $07e8 and $07e9.

My jeep overheats regularly, no towing just regular colorado hwy driving, makes high pitched whining sounds, and loses power. i have to pull over and wait for the light to go off, resume driving, and pull over again when the light comes on. over and over this happens. dealership says no error code on the engine and there is nothing they can do.

Several months ago i received a recall notice on my vehicle which was made in 2014. here it is 2017 and there still is no repair available. this is a safety recall. what is taking so long? recall s61/ nhtsa 16v-668. it should not take this long to correct a safety issue.

There is no remedy to this recall and its rediculous. we are forced to drive a vehicle that is not safe. we cant even trade it in because the dealership wont take it. also our bodily injury insurance for this jeep is five times what it used to cost. we financed this jeep, it is unbelieveable that we have to drive a vehicle that could potentionally hurt us worse if we were in a crash. something needs to done immediately.

I called my dealership to have an unrelated issue looked at and was notified about the possible failure of my seat belts and air bags. i have not received any other notification about this matter. i was told the parts for the recall may not be available until june/july of this year. i will risk the safety of myself and my family, including a teen driver, if i continue to operate this car before the repair can be made.

One morning i tried to turn on my vehicle and it would not start. got a friend to come out to try and jump start it and after about 30 min it was successful. two days later i had the same issue. tried to jump the car again with no success. replaced the battery but did not help. all the electrical componemts inside the car (radio,lights,ect) were still functional but engine would not start or even make a sound like it was attempting to start. jeep was towed to a local mechanic and he could not figure out the issue after 1.5 weeks of trying to figure out what was wrong. i then towed it to a jeep dealership and he stated that he didnt know what was wrong with it. he removed the plastic coverings over the engine and stated they are just for looks and dont need to be there and cleaned some wires near the drivers side wheel well and the vehicle was able to start. later while driving my jeep started to act strange. randomly all the lights on the dash board would turn on, the guages went all the way to zero then back up to normal the radio would shut off and turn back on and the car would feel like it was about to stall. later, the same thing happened except this time the lights stayed on engine was still running but could not accelerate my vehicle and power steering went out. i then would have to pull my jeep to the side of the road turn it off let it set for a little then it would start back up fine. this happened about 5 times over the course of a couple weeks. when it wasnt happening and i was driving the jeep around normally the check battery light would always turn on after about 5 to 10 min after drivimg the vehicle. occasionally the check oil light will also turn on. i have still foumd mp solution to these problems amd it continues to happen. it makes it very unsafe to drove especially on the highway and in congested areas due to vehicle randomly not working.

At 27,900 miles the plastic gears in the throttle body failed, causing an unexpected loss of power while in traffic and climbing a hill. i did my research and learned that this issue has existed since 2007 with no permanent solution. this manifests itself as an intermittent loss of power until the electronic throttle control instrument panel light comes on at which point i took it to the dealer and they replaced the throttle body. there is an excellent video by motor city mechanic on youtube that explains this issue in detail. it's only a matter of time before one of these fails at speed and someone is killed.

Wcm/screem module. car would not start. waited and hour then it started. car is leaving me stranded. i had just turn vehicle of to drop a o package and car would not start. called tow truck and while waiting tired several times. could see i had el ectricity so it was not battery. but started would not crank. after an hour if clicking remote key locks on and off and trying to start vehicle it cranked. read on line this wcm/screem issue, but see no recalls on fixing it. it's a problem if you are not in a safe area and can't start car.

I have taken the jeep back to the dealer 3 time to have the recall repaired. each time i was told there is no salutation to the recall as of yet. i think they should replace this jeep with an up graded jeep as soon as possible or buy it back. the set belt become lock and chokes you going down the road and you have to release the belt and re set it so you are not being choked.

I was driving down the interstate and my transmission overheat light came on, without warning, the jeep slowed to 40. very dangerous on the interstate where the speed limit is 75. luckily i was in the right lane and pulled over. i could have been rear ended and killed. this is very dangerous!!! dealer said since there were not any codes showing, they could not fix it.

My engine light has been popping on and off for the last 6 weeks. could not find the issue that was causing it.now the last 2 weeks my dash light that signals a electrical throttle issue.it was having issues of gaining speed and decelerating.yesterday august 18th it put my jeep into 4 wheel drive and my engine light plus the throttle light came on.i could not move my jeep i was fortunate that i was sitting still in a parking lot.i had only returned to my car after work and turned it on and this is what it did.it is at the repair shop now waiting on what the issue is and how it cam about. .

I have had this vehicle for 2 1/2 years. in those initial 2 years, i worked for a chrysler dealer but had to travel 50 miles one way to work, so i put 100 miles a day on my vehicle just to work and back. recently i had the pcm replaced twice which never fixed the issue, only to need a new ground wire. the vehicle has worked fine for a month, until now. now, i have a cracked manifold. the dealer is unable to do anything to help take care of this issue and when i spoke with chrysler they informed me that they can not take care of it either. they're reason is that the manifold cracked because of the mileage on the vehicle. the mileage is high because i worked for a chrysler dealer which was 50 miles away!!!! i am appalled at the fact that no one wants to take care of an issue that a 2 year old vehicle should not have. i will never buy from chrysler again and i would not recommend them to anyone!!

Purchased my 2014 jeep patriot pre-owned from a local jeep dealership. approximately 9 months ago i was driving and the engine sputtered and shut down. i was going 55 and it all of the sudden slowed to 30mph. thank goodness i was able to get my car to the shoulder of the road. as soon as i got to the shoulder, i shut the car off then restarted and was fine and i was able to get home. then 3 days after the first incident it happened again. i contacted the dealership and they said they hadn't heard of such an issue. debated on taking the vehicle in anyway but next time it started and has driven without stalling since then. well, a week ago i was driving and the gas pedal started acting up again where it felt like it had a brief lag in the acceleration. i stopped for gas on my way home and the vehicle would not start again. this vehicle is a death trap! i am scared every time i get behind the wheel that its going to try to stall while i am driving or i will end up stranded somewhere. in purchasing a jeep i always thought the jeep brand was supposed to be a reliable vehicle, not so much now. i will never waste my money on one of their vehicles again!

I have a 2014 jeep patriot (high altitude ). i was in my driveway and put my suv in reverse and started to back out. i only made it about 3 feet. suddenly i heard a load bang and felt a blow(hit) to my head and neck. it was really fast and hard. it hit so hard that i thought i was in a wreck or something . my son was freaked out at the noise and thought something hit us too. after looking outside of the car and finding nothing, i noticed the headrest was messed up. apparently the active head restraint deployed. i did some searches online and this is not normal at all. especially while your car is in reverse. this also only happened on the driver seat only.

Water leaks from the top of the windshield and, if it is raining hard enough, into and out of the overhead lights, which is worrisome because of the electrical factor. we noticed the leakage after going through a car wash 2 days after purchasing our used jeep. we brought it in for repairs and it seem like it was fixed for a couple of weeks until it rained heavily and we noticed water streaming in, yet again. we have also since noticed the floor on the driver's side gets soaked after it rains as well and we don't know where that is coming from. it seems overall that our jeeps sealants are very faulty.

I've complained here 2 weeks ago but now an update -- today was the second time which was more serious as not only the etc light came on , but the mil light and then the eac light. after stalling and restarting and plugging my way home -- while at a stop light , foot on brake on a hill, the car seemed to rpm very highly and seemed to want to accelerate (while a pedestrian crossed in front of me at the light). at that time -- or around that time -- all the idiot lights came on -- on the instrument panel. the car was stationary, but appeared to swoop into high gear while sitting with brake on pedal. it then dwindled down to the previous 3 lights. later when i made it home after several stalls, i went out to start it . the mil light lights first, and although it's suppose to warn me about seat-belts that has stopped. then the etc light comes on after about 1 minute or so, and the eac which stays on.i've never had a car do this ever! so dangerous! the seatbelt light? this has got to be electrical. chrysler has never fixed their jeep problems -- this is a repeated issue with all of their jeeps . i was in downtown duluth going only 30 mph but wouldn't have been able to go past that speed as it kept attempting to stall out. i'm sorry i couldn't take pictures while in the midst of a panic.

While driving to work the car attempted to stall and the etc light came on. the car seemed to go neutral, then gag, then regained it's composure. i immediately pulled off. car was in cold weather but never had this issue before, in mn. temps the manual said it was the etc electric throttle control, but didn't indicate it was a major concern, unless light stayed on . what would be a major concern other than getting rear ended by a pile of cars? i've never had this with any car, it was totally a new light i've never seen. i made it to work afterwards. on the way back home, the etc light came on again -- flashing, then off -- car stayed rolling. perhaps it is more inclined to stall going uphill with the etc, and while it's rolling downhill, less inclined to stall? who knows, but i don't think this is just a couple patriots out there, because there's already more than 500 people who've complained of this issue. i contacted dealer - but they did not admit to any recalls for my patriot - even when i stated others have had this exact issue. i am very reluctant to take my jeep anywhere but a few blocks in this winter weather. this was truly the first time i felt unsafe in it. mileage is 89,000. however, should an accident occur i will certainly sue the company. *tr

In august 2016 driving along and the car stalled and the engine light and electrical light and my 4 wheel drive light came on. the four wheel drive stayed on as well and the car sputtered then stopped. would not go. had it towed to a mechanic and he said the electronic body throttle needed replaced. ridiculous,i contacted the dealership but didn't hear back so i had it fixed and replaced. monday decemeber 12th while driving home from work at 45 miles an hour my jeep stalled and then completely died on the road. i managed to get it off the road at a coast. had it towed again and the mechanic said i need a new engine. this is what happened the mechanic said "due to abrasive debris in the balance shaft bearings, these engines may have a loss of engine oil pressure, possibly resulting in an engine stall or engine failure," said nhtsa in its summary of the problem. The transmission fill pipe broke off and was hanging under the car. luckily we noticed that something was hanging off the car while it was parked, my boyfriend reached under the car to see what it was and it came off in his hand. had it fallen off while the car was in motion it could have caused an accident or it could have fallen off and we would have never noticed it and had problems with the transmission at some point. the dealership service department pretended like they'd never hear of this happening before but a quick internet search shows that this is an issue that many patriot and caliber owners have experienced. i also suspect that a lot of these have fallen off without the owners even realizing it.

Received a recall notice on 11/15/16. repair shop where car was purchased advised they are unable to assist. contacted thefca recall center for the manufacturer, who advised that they are unable to repair for 90 days pending their determination of repair process for all affected vehicles. 3 months is not a reasonable amount of time to repair safety features on a vehicle that my 17 year old daughter is driving. company should fix timely or pay for rental or provide another vehicle to drive until they can repair it. these known defects in primary safety features and inefficiencies to repair are unacceptable and puts lives in jeopardy. safety features could fail and people killed by the time these issues are fixed. the secretary should impose immediate remedy requirements.

Impossible to fill gas tank because tank input tube is blocked. can fill on a drop by drop basis, but takes almost half an hour.

Sitting at a red light, vehicle engine light came on followed by the throttle warning light. vehicle lost power and engine felt like it would stall. vehicle would only drive at very low speed to get to safety. after restarting, engine light remained on, vehicle was drivable but soon failed again within a few miles and the throttle warning light came on again. stability control light may come on as well. was too concerned with getting to safety to know for sure.

The passenger head rest popped put while being parked in the drive way. ive seen many complaints on line and no recalls for it. but appears to be a problem with the plastic pin breaking inside of the head rest and it deploying with out any impact. no one was sitting there thankfully otherwise they woulda got whacked by it.

The muffler melted the body of the vehicle. it almost caught fire after 2 hours on the road with no indication. we managed to push muffler down and it stopped melting the plastic. we stopped for gas and saw the damage. i did not notice the muffler was stuck in the upward position before the trip so it was not a concern until we stopped. we were on interstate 25 southbound right out of albuquerque, nm.

The dashboard starting on the passenger side all the way over to the steering column caught fire and melted the entire dashboard.i parked my car around 9pm and went back out around 11:30pm to get something out and found my dashboard completely melted. i was told by the fire company that because the windows were all closed tightly the fire smothered itself. i had to have it towed to the body shop and they called and told me it was an electrical fire. my car was totaled.

I have to protest to call stability control to be safe device. in over 120 000 miles on the tiers i replaced if remember right: 6 sets of breaks sets, 5 new new rotors, 2 calipers breaks assemble, front house breaks line. driving on the straight highway the vehicle soddenly engage the breaks at random. some time making me see sick. i remember driving 60 miles an hour the brakes engage nearly pushed me in to another car. recently travel to mouton regain. the breaks slowing me down. for no know cause. i noticed danger pater too. when i make a turn in the winding road, the car is getting extremely dangers. the car braking down when i intend to accelerate. this collision of interest resulting in: my transmission is down steps good, the rpm go to extreme. first from 1,500 race to 2000 then 3000 then 5000 slowing down the car. when finely breaks are released it kick like a mule trying to force me of the route. don't know way any one need that tip of traction control?. this is my second vehicle in the row, that have computer problem to. random action on in and out components. the last one doge acclaim forced to trade in because computer replacement did not solved problem, i tested abs breaks on slow speed. it was only a test 10 mils an hour. i end up i ditch. it was a winter snow. only a test, miner damage to plastic fender. is it passable to return to regular breaks, that work. the engine control unit prohibit that action sanction by state inspection. Passenger front active restraint headrest deployed unexpectedly when parked in driveway. this was due to a broken plastic pin retaining piece in headrest. defective headrest deployed causing passenger to be struck in back of head while parked, no accident occured.

After filling up my vehicle the car studders and stop in traffic. when trying to move forward by pressing the gas it won't move until i turn the car completely off. once i restart the vehicle it moves again. this is hazardous to my family and self.

I pulled up in front of a store to load some things into my car. the car was in park and left running. it only took a few minutes to load the car. when i returned to the driver’s seat, i noticed my headrest had popped open. i looked it up on my phone and discovered that the active head restraint (ahr) had been activated. due to safety concerns, i drove straight home and didn’t drive the vehicle again until i took it to the dealership on monday night. the incident happened on saturday. i am thankful this didn’t happen while i was driving - it could have been a very dangerous situation.

The cvt transmission will make a loud whine and not go over 40 mph . usual happens after about 30 min of driving and will not show any codes. this happens during acceleration and you have to pull over and wait before it will resume somewhat normal operation .

Started off by acting as though it wasnt getting gas, (puttering , etc.) had battery checked. now sounds as though it is stuck in gear. several mechanics have verified previous recalls on this jeep due to the pulley on alternator. unsafe to drive and suggested no too.im a single mom with 4 boys and need to be at work but have to be at work. would need help please!

Nexen n5000 2115/65/r17 tire tread seems to melt away or peel up and causes excessive use of the brakes. they were added at 36043 miles and at 59644 i was told to replace the times and the brakes. the stated mileage is 65000. 1 tire has a chunk of torn tread that is gone. the other tires seem to be peeling or melting away. vehicle is a jeep patriot. when first purchased the tires made the breaking faster and sliding was removed in rain, sleet or mountain snow. now that is all reduced.

I was driving approx 45 mph when i heard a popping noise followed by grinding noise while in 5th gear. took my car to the shop and was told it looked like the transmission. i then took it to a transmission shop who verified that the transmission was shot. it was cracked in several places. i had the transmission replaced with a new one. when i went to pick up my car, i asked to take pictures so that i could talk to jeep about having a transmission fail at 103k miles. while taking pictures and looking at the damaged transmission, the mechanic said " wait a minute. what year is your jeep?" i told him it was a 2014. he said, "look at this sticker. it means that this transmission was manufactured in 2016. so, you are actually on your 3rd transmission." i was able to track the transmission by the part number and found out that it was installed in july 2016. the original transmission failed at 51,477 miles. the one that just came out failed at 52, 075 miles.

When i am driving on the freeway or street the car seems that wants to stop and feel that is loosing power; than it does like a jumper and keep going and it has happened many times. the dealer seems that do not find anything. also the back door of the car keep getting lock and not able to open

While running (city or highway) vehicle stalls when power request by acceleration. seems like a rough noise when automatic shift change, losing the power.

The partriot randomly stalls while travelling at any speed. the engine shuts off and car has to coast to a stop. it is extremely dangerous and only a matter of time before someone is injured or killed. multiple mechanics and the jeep dealership have no clue as to how to fix the problem. online research shows this is a major issue for many jeep owners, not just patriots. jeep / chrysler has a major issue and will not acknowledge or address it. if they refuse to do anything, they should be prepared to pay for their lack of addressing this critical issue. it takes less than a minute to search and see how many people are affected with engine stalling issues with jeep automobiles. i hope the nhtsa will conduct a thorough review of these issues and force more attention to be given to the serious issue. i bought this car for my daughter and now we can't let her drive it because it is too dangerous. we have spent over $2k trying to address this issue. there are no recalls or other assistance that jeep can or will offer.

Daughter called in panic, jeep was unable to accept fuel while pumping. i advised her to try another pump, still same problem. took about 15 minutes to get 5 gallons of fuel in jeep for her to make it home. took jeep to dealership and stated that a shut off valve in tank had malfunctioned and gas tank needed to be replaced ($1500 parts and labor) and dealership said this was a common problem...wait what, a common problem, why is there not a recall on something like this? less than 50k miles and needs a new tank... dealership said not a safety issue??? being stuck on i95 at night not being able to get gas is a big safety issue.

The engine stalls sporadically while driving. it also has low oil engine pressure. my car make and model was recalled, however, my specific vin number was not part of the recall even though i am experiencing the issues related to the recall.

During a road trip, i went to gas up my jeep and the pump would not allow me to put gas in the car. i was 5 months pregnant stranded with no gas. i later when to several other gas stations same issue. i took it to a shop and they told me that i needed to replace the curler neck which was $180, when they installed it, the issue was not resolved. i took it to another shop and they could not fix the issue as well. i finally took it to a dealership and they mentioned it could be the fuel tank which was $1200 or the evap system which is $900 but they weren’t entirely sure what the issue was either. i am currently using a gas can but the problem is getting worse because now it will only allow me to put small amount of gas even when the tank is empty.

Anytime i accelerate from a stop my 2014 jeep patriot jerks and shudders. so i’ll be in traffic on the freeway or at a light and once i start going the jeep will be jumpy and not accelerate. it’s getting to the point where it’s almost every stop and i feel like eventually the engine will just stall in the middle of a light. which is definitely is a concern because i drive with a 4 year old most of the time. no engine light has came on so that’s also a concern when trying to figure out what is wrong with the vehicle. it’s not okay.

I was driving with my 2 small children home when out of no where my check engine light came on, my "lightning bolt light" came on and my "fish tail" light came on then my engine stalled in middle of the road. thankfully we were not on a busy road. but i normally am driving the interstate for work. (i work with people with disabilities, including having them in my vehicle.) the code is letting me know the throttle body control is bad. i looked up recalls and 2014 jeep patriots have this recall. but my vin specifically does not. therefore i'm not sure if a dealership will cover it. it could have been a devastating accident if we had been on a busy road.

Our 2014 jeep patriot came equipped with firestone affinity tires . at 19k miles all 4 tires would not pass pa. inspection and needed replaced. these tires are a safety hazard to anyone without constant inspections of treads. even following proper rotations and air inflation regulations they were shot ! total junk and very unsafe tires especially in northern wintery states. i replaced with a different brand of safer tires....never again will i trust firestone tires!

My 2014 jeep patriot vehicle started to loose engine power really fast and started to jerk and slow down on it's own barely any power. two dash trouble lights came on. a engine trouble light and a lighting bolt trouble light both came on. i immediately barely pulled the car into an empty parking lot close by. had i been on a highway traveling a higher speed area this would have been disastrous ! i was able to shut the car off and restart the car after waiting and luckily there was an auto parts store nearby. upon checking the dash lights with their computer unit it was determined it was a failed throttle control unit . after it was checked a day later at the local jeep dealer it was determined the throttle unit did fail. since i only had 20k miles but beyond the 3 year limit warranty they would not cover the expensive repair. i feel this should be a jeep safety recall on this part because the replacement part has been modified from the original. due to the modification i had to also purchase a new wire harness even though the older one was probably fine but wouldn't fit the newer modified replacement throttle unit. when this throttle unit fails your vehicle gets no gas so it almost shuts down immediately ! in confidence i was told by several dealer maintenance people this isn't a rare problem, but the chryslers jeep co. refused to absorb any liability or payment toward this replacement repair after i contacted them . this is strange that the replacement part has been modified or updated .....why ? the original unit is defective is my guess and should be recalled on all jeep products before a serious accident happens !

The horn stopped working on this car about five months ago. i looked for a fuse or relay and discovered on the web that this was a common chrysler problem across all products. i replaced the clock spring which appeared to be identified as most probable problem on the web; not so. two months ago i went to the dealer and said for $150 they would identify the problem. the horn itself worked, which i tested. i took the steering wheel apart once again and traced the two operational horn wires back to the the steering wheel mounted cruise control module. for grins i went to the local service yard and obtained said module. replaced the module and now the horn works. first, why would the horn circuit be so convoluted since a relay and fuse was the norm since the 1940's. second, for safety's sake, the common items needed to be working in a car are horn, lights, brakes; these are common minimum inspection items. chrysler should make good and repair/ replace cars with this problem because this major failure could have serious consequences because the mindset of most backyard mechanics is that they can fix it and many have conceded failure and have put a horn button on the dash and wired to a better horn , fuse and relay. check the web and you can see the multitude of traffic on the chrysler horn problems. i tried to get wiring diagrams for this car which cost $100 but i stopped when i found that they were not complete. i believe that chrysler like probably all manufacturers have let the electronics take over common sense.

When driving my 2014 jeep patrioit sport it suddenly kinda jerks and wants to stall like its choking. or not getting gas. this happens on regular roads, and highways. especially after turning even slightly. everything i have read says there have been recalls pertaining to this. but when i look up my vin. it says my car has no open recalls. could it be that it was recalled and fixed incorrectly? or have u just not recalled my jeep yet? it’s pretty scary and all the mechanics who look at it, say they can’t don’t know what it is because nothing pops up when they hook it to diagnostic machine. it is a regular occurrence. i love my car. but lately i feel nervous driving it. for fear it will completely lose power while on busy highway. so i avoid them at all cost. will try to invest more money to try to find the problem after tax time, but this is an issue i have never experienced befor. i wrote a date this happened in the date field because it was required. but it happens almost every time i drive. at any speed.

Voltage light comes on and jeep goes into "limp mode", basically loses all power. costing $1000.00 plus 2 towing fees to get fixed. only 85,000 miles on the vehicle. after a little research, i've found this happens all the time.

The housing that holds the seatbelt to the side of the front driver's side seat has come loose. there appears to be a bolt missing and some plastic has broken off. this is causing the housing to not be secured to the seat.

Driver side head rest pop open very scary experience!

Throttle track and engine light come on and off. car will not accelerate no more than 30 rpm when it happens it may also accelerate on its own when foot on break .

While driving down a highway the rpm's will drop down to 0 and within 1-3 seconds it pops back up to normal range. sometimes it kills while driving. unknown reason. have replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils hoping to find the cause.

After being parked for three or four days, i entered the vehicle and immediately the driver's seat and headrest felt wrong. was not driving yet. just sitting in seat. a quick inspection showed that the driver's headrest had spontaneously activated while parked, leaving it split in two pieces. the vehicle, of course, is five years and one month old, so out of warranty. this will be an expensive repair of this mandatory safety equipment that is defective. also dangerous if it had deployed while driving or sitting in seat. shouldn't this be subject to an investigation and possible recall?

I needed to replace my throttle body unit on this car at 75,000 miles. the car is only 5 years old. i have seen numerous complaints about this same issue. 3 lights came on: the electronic stability control, malfunction indicator (check engine), and the electronic throttle control. my car could not surpass 30 mph which was incredibly dangerous on the highway. additionally, the car was jerky and would jerk forward even when braking. this seems to be a recurring/known issue. i believe a recall of this specific part is needed.

Electronic throttle control light began to go off. rpms were running higher than normal. after the sensor triggered twice, no problems other than rmps running high. 5 days after the initial warning light, upon stopping at a traffic light and resuming acceleration, check engine came on, then electronic throttle control, then traction control. this continued to happen every time the car had to decelerate or stop and the rpms dropped below 1. at one point, it stalled. i had to pull over, stop the car and restart it. if you were driving on a highway with continuous gas there wasn't a problem. the diagnostic repair is the throttle body housing needs to be replaced.

Wow, just wow!! all the complaints on the 2014 jeep patriot. mine is at the jeep dealership getting a new throttle body kit. (600$$)....i am not sure if i ever want to drive it again after what happened to me. lost power and all the lights came on in s curves on a rural road...had to creep at 10 miles and hour hoping to get off the road. no recalls are crazy considering all the complaints.

Engine started to overheat after a weekend drive. warning light came on as we were parking. took it in to get coolant temperature sensor replaced, coolant flush, and thermostats replaced. come to find out the head gasket blew and damaged the piston rings. i need a new engine! there was no warning of high engine temperatures until 5 seconds before we parked! car was always maintained. the engine had 79,000 miles.

Every summer since i bought the car the cvt transmission overheats when driving at speeds ove 60mph on the highway. several times my vehicle has lost power and im forced to the roadside to wait until it cools down. it happened to me in chicago once where there is no shoulder to the thruway and i thought i was going to be killed. ive had it to the dealership at least 6 times for this problem and have had no resolve. the car has currently been at the dealership for over a month now and ive also been dealing with jeep customer car and all they keep telling me is that they cant do anything about it. im lost at this point. i think this may fall under the lemon law but jeep will not work on anything with me. please help

"takata recall" i have a 2014 jeep patriot it has 20,456 miles. the last six month i have had repairs on fuel tank, first one last about 3 month the last one don in july 2019 lasted 2 days. i can't fill my tank. it will put a little gas in and then cut off. these repairs have cost me 125.oo ea time . this would be ok if it worked.

I have a 2014 jeep patriot sport 2.0l 4cyl wuth a cvt transmission. i bought it used certified in feb 2018. about a month into owning the vehicle it started to buck and jerk. the car shakes while on idle and there is a loud helicopter sound coming from the back of the car. i took to to 3 different jeep dealer and nobody could tell me what was wrong with the car. about 3 months after that the engine stalled without any warning. this happened as i turned on my street to go home. i had to wait a few minutes and it turned it back on and drove as if nothing happened. i took it to local mechanic and he could not find anything wrong with the car. the vehicle was not firing any codes nor was there any warning lights on the dash. the latest incident happend on august 18, 2019 drving home from a camping trip. i had 2 passengers in the car with me.the car bucks and jerks while on the highway and the car stalls while im drving the speed limit at 60 mph. thankfully i was in the slow lane and was able to pull over to the right. after being all shaken up, again i had waitied a few minutes and car started and drove as if noting happend. it was one of the scariest things i have ever experienced. i have taken it to local mechanics and they dint know whats wrong with it. so i am currently drving my car and wondering when the car will stall again. it still bucks and jerks, feels like it will stall so i take my foot off the gas peddle and that seems to help. i no longer drive this car on the highway as i am scared to death of getting into a car accident. i strictly use this car to travel to and from work. i am tired of sending this car to the dealerships and mechanics with no resolutions. i want to trade this car in, but am afraid for the next person. i think this car needs to be recalled. these cars should not be on the road period!!

Many, many times this jeep has overheated while driving up steep grades and all power shuts down the car eventually stops.

Takata recall: as you drive this vehicle the engine will slightly stall out and hiccup. also causing the transmission to jitter slightly but noticeably so. it does it whether its hot, cold regardless. i feel as if this vehicle is affected by the engine recall because it does stall and stutter while driving.

Wife and daughter was in a 8car accident and none of the airbags went off hit from the back and pushed into other cars and none of airbags went off .both of them went to the hospital and we spent all day in the emergency room.

While driving around parking lot vehicle started to run extremely rough almost to the point of stalling. became very hard to drive including loosing stearing and brake function causing vehicle to loose control and coming to a stop into a bush. warning lights came on on the dash at the time, traction control light and electric symbol. dealer stated throttle body needed to be replaced and that it was a common repair they had seen many times. was not covered under warranty which left me with a $1000 repair bill. huge safety concern. called up jeep customer service and they were completely unwilling to cover any costs of the repair or admit there was any issue. thankfully this issue did not happen while driving on the highway or i could have been seriously hurt.

When turning on a highway the vehicle accelerated on its own the brakes did not stop it . i almost hit a tree the vehicle slowed after hitting the isle to get off the road. the dealership said the throttle body needed to be replaced had it replaced the vehicle has 35000 miles on it very dangerous situation

When i was stopping are red light with foot firmly on brake car accelerated on it's own. if i had not pressed brake harder i would have hit the car in front.

I took the car to have a diagnostic test done and it said the throttle body control and my car loses power without notice.

My engine had been on for a couple of weeks and then today as i was driving the red flash light came on which when i read my manual, it's my etc. my jeep started slowing down and i pulled off to the side of the road and turned my jeep off and read my manual. it stated i could continue to drive and get it service. i drove it home. as i read the complaints on here for the same thing, this should have been a recall or should be now, because it is very dangerous if it accelerates on it's on and can't stop.

Rattle noise from front of vehicle. dealer can not find problem. google states that steering liquid line loose attachments to car's chasis. i fit fails hose can rupture causing pressure of oil to steering wheel

Engine throttle component light came on going appr. 45 mph. idling while driving. patriot at 85,000 miles.

When trying to accelerate especially when getting on the highway car jumps and will not go. red lightning bolt symbol comes on the dashboard. has happened at least 4 times in the last week. also seems to be getting a lot worse.

Throttle body assembly malfunction: while driving 2014 jeep patriot at approximately 40 mph in a semi-residential area, shortly after exiting the highway, experienced a sudden loss of speed and steering control. red bolt illuminated on dashboard. car would not accelerate past 15 mph and steering and braking became difficult. car immediately towed to repair shop where the throttle body assembly (part 68420395aa) was replaced with a factory part. after reviewing other complaints, this seems like a common problem with the referenced part, and owner/driver is not satisfied with the resolution of replacing a faulty part with with a faulty part for a total of $800. mileage on car at time of tba failure = 69,850 with no previous indicators of upcoming failure. further resolution is needed to ensure safety of all drivers.

While driving my 2014 jeep patriot, the car started losing power while accelerating uphill, it also veered off the road, like it was steering itself. the check engine light and a red lightning bolt appeared on the dashboard. thankfully i wasn’t far from my mechanic and i was able to drive it to my mechanic where it was diagnosed as needing a throttle body. this could be an extremely dangerous situation.

Same complain as everyone else. my jeep patriot 2014 suddenly lost power and started jerking while driving not allowing me to accelerate. three lights came on the throttle control warning light, engine and traction control light. replaced throttle body my self and i want my dang recall or a lawsuit filed because this could cause a major accident and lifes are involved.

I was driving 60mph and my check engine light, throttle control light and abs light kick on. jeep drops down to 40 mph and will not accelerate, going uphill it drops to about 20 mph. if you go to stop when these lights are on the vehicle lurches forward and it hard idles. throws codes of electronic throttle control malfunction. vehicle is not safe to drive and dealer recommends not driving it. this is dangerous and there should be a recall.

I have the same exact problem as everyone else. the throttle lightning bolt flashes, car wont shift or do more than 35. it wont respond to accelerating. it jerks all over the place when at a low speed. i went off of the road in the snow but was ok. when it first started it kicked into a lower gear, jerked and the car slid. you are going to get people killed ignoring this and now here is written proof that you have been warned. do hear that, chrysler? because youre about to.

I went to start my car and there was no power even with a jump. after replacing the starter, battery, relays, eginition switch, thermostats, alter alternator and throttle body the issue continued. on the hwy the temp light comes on and has issues accelerating and when you try to start it click seems like it's not going to start and finally does. the battery light stays on. and just over all jerky and lights dim.

My car is 5 years old. during highway drives (1-2 hours), the engine stalls in the middle of the highway and is unable to maintain speed. this has happened several times. i am concerned about the safety of this vehicle.

Jeep was skipping while driving. it would not accelerate when, it was just move slowly. i brought it to a transmission specialist , he took it out of my car for diagnostic because he claimed he could not determine the problem by driving or computer. charged $840 and stated the transmission could not be repaired it had to be rebuilt. i could not afford the price quoted. they placed the transmission in my trunk.

The roll-over check valve in the gas tank becomes stuck open and the gas tank will not fill. if the car rolls over, all the gas would spill out. the only fix according to jeep is for me to pay $1600 for a new gas tank for a problem that happens with normal use of the car.

2014 jeep patriot is stalling when trying to accelerate, especially uphill. it is also stalling after slowing down and then accelerating again. while going uphill recently the vehicle sputtered to climb uphill. luckily the vehicle has not completely stalled out yet. this mostly happens on city street however when getting onto the on ramp it sputters to accelerate sometimes and also if traffic comes to a stop on the highway and i try to accelerate again. i have no idea what is causing this. i have completed regular maintenance on the car so this has come out of nowhere. i see previously there was a recall for a loss of oil pressure which could cause the vehicle to stall but i'm not sure if my vehicle went through this recall.

I accelerated up to 30 mph on a city street and then coasted up to traffic and was slowing down, at the light and my car all the sudden turned on 3 lights the traction control light, check engine light and the trottle position light. i stopped my car at the light and once i did the car jerked forward sending me into the intersection. lucky no one was coming but i ended up having to run the red light because my car jerk forward again and once i gave it gas it only got worse. i pulled off into a parking lot and turned my car on and off a few times to reset the computer. it finally did after turning it on and off five times. all the lights went off. so i tried to drive it to work and once i drove down the city road a little ways (maybe a mile). the car jerked and attempted to shift up and then downshifted and my engine then reved to five thousand rpm. and all the lights turned back on and my car jerk violently back and forth. the rpm's stayed at three to four thousand reving my engine needlessly. i finally pulled off the road into a parking lot and had to have my car towed to a shop. the jeep certified mechanic replaced the throttle body. i have heard of a lot of other people with this issue

I was driving very slowly on a side street near a park. i made a u-turn and as i finished coming out of the turn, my vehicle engine stalled. i was able to coast off of the road. i was nearly hit by another vehicle.

5 / 6 months back cold day --2 f temp electronic throttle control light came for 2 min and then never came back till this week monday 3 & tuesday 4, 2019 . while i was driving at 55 miles on highway 6 from home to office . certainly engine lost power i was worried can hit other vehicles on the road . i my jeep on 1/3/2015 have only 20217 miles . then yesterday i took my baxter jeep dealer 17950 burt street omaha ne 68118 .. they did cover my repair and parts replacement cost under jeep warranty . they charge my $ 716. 63 baxter replaced cpc 68420395ab t/body -kit & 4884551aa gasket -throttle body $631.31 plus tax total $ 716.63 they charged from me. i feel jeep should be checked for recall and my expenses please be given back to me as soon as possible. as this was not my mistake . its jeep company should make assure this jeep not have this defective again in any other vehicles on the road. every must be safe while driving on the road . i can not take that rick for my life and life other driver while driving . please recall all jeep as of my model . and check these defect free under recall system.

My car isn’t even 5 years old and the lightening bolt comes on and my car slows down in the middle of highway traffic. it takes at least two tries to turn the car on before it actually starts and now in the middle of driving on the highway the lightening bolt comes on and the check engine light came on. the car will jerk and won’t go more than 35 and won’t respond to accelerating. this is unbelievable and shouldn’t be happening with a car less than 5 years old.

My 2014 jeep patriot stalls out while driving and the engine light will come on. when on the freeway it will randomly lose acceleration at 60 miles/hr and the power will drop down to 40 causing me to pull over and restart my vehicle. i was stationary at the traffic light and as i began to take off the car would not go over 5 or 10 miles/hr and i would have to immediately restart. once i have restarted my vehicle it will start as if nothing happened. i was almost rear-ended by semi truck on the freeway and several other several times with kids and others family members in my vehicle. this is very hazardous to not only my self, but anyone on the road while i am driving. i have taken my automobile to the shop on several occasions and they are unable to determine the problem especially when they can not duplicate it on demand. i have researched this issue and there are so many complaints regarding this situation and i only pray that someone with a more authority will take a stance and get this problem resolved. meanwhile, i am having to spend unnecessary money on rental cars, while paying a car note. this is unheard of and i am praying that a life will not be lost due to this problem not being resolved! my date below is give or take because i can remember each time this jeep has acted up.

While driving on the interstate my car would not accelerate on 50-60 miles an hour . problem accelerating over 60 miles without a loud noise. the noise rose so loud i thought i had a hole in the exhaust pipe. of corss the dealership does not have any knowedge of whats going on but i see a lot of complaints on the jeep complaint cite. took my care in to a muffler repair shop thinking i had a problem with the exhaust and it turns out there may be something wro g with the transmission. i don't even have 46,000 miles on my car yet. please order a recall on this matter. dangerous on highway. thanks

While driving, throttle sensor light comes on along with the engine light, the traction control light, and four wheel drive light. total loss of power and engine begins to flutter to where it wants to stall. have to stop on the side of the road and shut the jeep off and attempt to regain power, to which the same thing happens again.

Already on the highway driving at 70 mph, i noticed that it was harder to accelerate. i was pushing down on the gas pedal and my jeep was not picking up any speed. the tachometer was pushing the line in read between 7 & 8 as i would try to accelerate. couple days later driving in town, it did it again only it took awhile to accelerate and get to 30-40 mph. engine light came on and immediately took it to auto-zone to have it diagnosed. they told me to unplug the battery and have it sit for a couple of days to see if the engine light came off. week later i'm still stuck without my vehicle. reported it to mopar and they advised me to take it to the dealership and have it fixed. my jeep only has under 90k miles on it. i'm hoping this issue becomes a recall being that the stories have begun to surface late november 2018.

Patriot will shake/vibrate really bad when in drive and sitting idle (like at a red light with the foot on the brake). if i place it in park, neutral or start driving the heavy vibration goes away.

While driving on the highway in 2014 jeep patriot the bolt light(electronic throttle control) came on and i lost vehicle speed rapidly almost as if it was going to stall out. after a few seconds it seemed fine but now it just blinks on occasion and i lose speed when it comes on. i wont travel on highway anymore until it is fixed. i took vehicle to auto shop and they said i need a new electronic throttle control and this vehicle only has 45,000 miles on it. its dangerous when travelling because you just suddenly lose speed.

My 2014 jeep patriot just experienced transmission failure. it has 91,000 miles on it, but has been properly maintenanced. the input shaft bearing started making grinding and whining noises when the clutch was let out while parked and driving. soon had troubles shifting and my transmission not wanting to go into gear. i looked on the internet for a remedy and noticed thousand of complaints related to this same issue involving most jeep vehicles. one vehicle only had 31,000 miles when their transmission failed. my vehicle is currently at the automotive shop. they stated that i have 3 options which include rebuild my current transmission (which may be a total loss) , buy a used tramsmission ( no guarantee of when another failure will occur), or buy a new transmission from the dealership (no guarantee of when failure will occur). the automotive shop stated that there is a parts shortage due to this issue and may not be able to obtain the parts to rebuild the transmission and also lack of used transmissions due to the same issue. i just bought this vehicle 1 year ago and will have to pay thousands to fix it due to a known problem in the automotive community without any guarantee of when it will happen again. the owner of my local automotive shop told me to sell it because of the known transmission failure. i saved money to buy this jeep with cash and do not have the funds to continually replace transmissions in it. big problem for jeep and quality of their products. bigger problem for the owners that are paying thousands to fix their vehicles. their transmissioms should be recalled due to not model specific. all jeep models are having the same issues. i cannot believe there is no recall for this issue already.

While driving at a low speed or idling at a stop sign the vehicle will shut off without warning. when this happens i must put my car in park, shut the car completely off, then restart, sometimes this happens multiple times in one day. this has happened while on city street, highways, while turning and while stopped, it has become unsafe and unreliable to drive. i am still unaware of what the issue is and have replaced several components on the vehicle that i think could have been linked: battery, throttle body, spark plugs, cam sensors, runner valve, and the catalytic converter. none of these replacements has fixed this issue. there is a recall for this issue with jeep (n52) and when i called to tell them my vehicle is having this issue they just told me they would make a note, and they could not authorize a recall on my vehicle. i asked them if i took it into the jeep dealership to get a diagnostic and they found this to be the issue could they issue they recall then they told me no and it would have to come out of my own expenses.

Both the driver and passenger side active head restraints (ahr) were triggered in july 2018 without my car suffering an impact. in both cases, the car was parked like usual at my house overnight and i found the headrests triggered in the morning. i have not been involved in any accidents, there is no impact damage, and the car was not in motion when they triggered. i was unable to reset them per the manual, so i brought it to my jeep dealership on august 8th and my service rep said he had absolutely no idea what was wrong. he later called to quote me about $1,400 to replace both headrests and he told me i would probably want to skip replacing them; to keep them as-is to avoid the costs. at no time was it explained to me that this was a safety feature with a broken piece. when i searched online for replacement headrests, i was able to learn that this is a safety feature that malfunctioned and has affected other drivers. this malfunction poses a risk to drivers if it happens while the car is in motion (i was lucky). a small piece in the headrest is also breaking, preventing the restraints from being reset and costing owners the high price of replacing the headrests. i, like many, am no longer covered under warranty for this large cost, which should be covered by jeep given its seriousness and frequency. this is a safety concern that needs to be addressed. my biggest concern is that my jeep dealership actually suggested that i keep my headrests as they are, allowing me to continue driving with this safety restraint activated, which can do more harm should i be in an accident. they also failed to explain or properly educate me about the ahr's and the reason they could not be reset. their omission of these facts coupled with the safety concerns regarding this safety feature malfunction can put other drivers at risk.

Throttle body housing failure: while driving to work on an interstate with speed limit of 60mph, vehicle would decelerate from 50mph down to 20mph and would not speed up regardless of how i pressed the gas pedal. the esc, etc, and mil indicators began to flash and the vehicle would not speed above 20-30mph. i had to have the vehicle towed to a local dodge dealer who diagnosed the issue as needing a replacement throttle body housing at a cost of $880 for that repair and replacement of a leaking coolant / radiator hose.

I have spent over $1500 on repair of an electrical throttle body and catalytic converter and i still have engine stalling and not being able to accelerate cars slows on its own i can’t drive more than 20mph

Total control power module (tipm) failure. while driving down the road jeep patriots lights started flickering, the most of the dash lights came on. when pulling over the vehicle stalled and lost assisted braking and power steering. once stopped turned the key off and regained composure. after it sat for a few second the jeep started right back up and was fine. took the jeep to a local store to have the starting and charging system checked and was told that everything was operating within normal parameters. since then we have had multiple repeat occurrences and now the jeep has to be jump started if you want it to run. the jeep was diagnosed with a bad tipm total integrated power unit. this is very dangerous situation and thus my vehicle is now parked. this is the first jeep that i have owned but do not think their will be another beings that dodge is not wanting to claim responsibility and correct this dangerous situation

My 2014 jeep patriot will not accelerate without having hesitation. the vehicle has 64,000 miles on it. when you press on the gas whether you are moving or stopped, it almost stalls and then has to reset it self to go above 30mph. the etc light comes on and then disappears. this has happened all week. seeing how many people have had this issue on this site and others, there should definitely be a recall. this is a dangerous and scary situation for a vehicle that is not even 5 years old to slow and/or stop while you are trying to accelerate.

Car has less than 30k miles. issue has been recurrent since purchasing-- now, its to the point that we are too afraid to drive death trap. car engine dies while driving and vehicle is inoperable. while driving on the highway at approximately 60 mph, the car completely stopped i was barely able to get it over onto the shoulder. check engine and electronic throttle control lights were on. now, the problem occurs more frequently. there's no warning prior to car completely dying. this has happened twice on the highway almost getting us killed. it also occurred while driving down side sides/main roads since we now fear driving on the highway people will be killed by this - if they haven't been so far

Just 15,983 miles on this vehicle. when driving and accelerating the engine loses power and the lightening bolt comes on the instrument cluster. it loses power in traffic. at 70 mph. all of this. it appears to be the throttle body. looking around the internet, it is a very common issue. ridiculous at just 15,983 miles

Electronic throttle light flicked on and off on four separate occasions while accelerating. vehicle seemed to rev up and almost bottom out. diagnosed by independent service shop as faulty electronic throttle. repair cost was approximately $742.

I am writing in regards to an issue that has been happening with my jeep patriot that upon further research seems to be plaguing many patriot owners as well with no solution. randomly my vehicle would lose acceleration and the electronic throttle control light would light. when this would happen i would lose the power to accelerate and would have to pull over and restart the vehicle. once restarted the problem would no longer be there as if it didn't happen. sometimes the 4wd and traction control light would ignite during these episodes. i have taken the vehicle in for diagnostics, but nothing popped on their end and i have been told that the only way for them to know what is wrong is if it happens when they have it. being there can be a week or more between episodes this isn't feasible. this issue needs to be addressed and fixed by the manufacturer being it’s dangerous for the driver and passengers. just two weeks ago my vehicle had this episode occur while crossing an intersection. thankfully i managed to make it through the intersection without incident but being a pregnant mother driving her toddler around this situation could of cost us our lives. tonight my car did the same and i nearly got hit because i lost acceleration suddenly on a 55mph road. thankfully i was able to pull into a safe place but now my vehicle is no longer drivable and will have to be towed to be fixed. this vehicle only has 72000 miles on it .

Electronic throttle control sensor went out. gas peddle stopped working and vehicle shaking/stalling while driving on highway while taking my daughter to school. approx 79,000. cost over $800 to have it replaced. already had to replace intake manifold last summer.

Takata recall i took my 2014 jeep patriot into my local jeep dealer for repair of the s61 takata airbag recall. while the vehicle was in the shop being repaired, the service manager informed me the newly installed part malfunctioned and thought the car had rolled over, and deployed all airbags in the car. this destroyed the interior of the car, including the roof, seats, front console, steering wheel, and seat belts. the manager mentioned they would fix the damage. however, the car was submitted for the repair on april 12, 2018, and as of may 14, 2018 they have not removed the old airbags, or installed any new airbags. this is a serious safety concern. if the newly installed part used to fix the recall had malfunctioned while the vehicle was in use, it could have been a fatal accident. there is no way to tell if and when the part was going to malfunction. i now have my concerns regarding the safety of this vehicle, the reliability of the recalled part, and the safety of any newly installed takata airbags. there is professional negligence on the part of the jeep service center for not repairing their error for greater than 5 weeks after the damaged occurred, for reducing the value of my car, and for using faulty equipment in their repair. there is also professional negligence on the part of the takata airbag company for providing a faulty airbag and faulty repair part for the s61 recall. this negligence could have been fatal.

A light comes on and the car starts slowing down so you must pull over until the light goes out, but it happens again and again. it is so dangerous to be stuck on the side of the road or in the middle of an intersection. the dealership has had the car many times and said there is nothing they can do even though i have a lifetime warranty. it is like owning a golf cart. there are many people on the internet with the same issue. it should be a recall!

The throttle control light comes on. the engine runs rough and the top speed is 20-25 mph. my jeep has done this 5 times. a rest has worked 3 times and has not these last two times.

On the morning of 4/1/18 i was involved in a car accident when my car lost control and hit a tree going between 20-30mph. it was a head on collision where my air bags did not deploy and my seat belt did not tense during or after the collision. as such, i received a large laceration to my forehead when it hit the steering wheel. the accident occurred when i was making a slight left through an intersection near a residential area and the road was slick from a slight rain that was happening. i had skidded out through the intersection and before i knew what was happening i was colliding with the tree in front of me. there were no other parties involved.

This has happened 4 times in less then a 6 months period. i would be driving then out of no where my vehicle jerks my check engine light comes on and i can not accelerate past 20 mph. i have to manage to pull to the side somewhere to restart my car so it will drive somewhat normally. the check engine light remains on. one error code said there was a leaking hose but they found nothing leaking and couldn't figure out what was wrong. *tt *tr

This car needs to be investigated! not safe. multiple problems. i bought this car about a month ago. i was driving on highway with my 5 year old son when the car started shaking and clunking uncontrollably. i pulled over thinking i had a flat tire but did not. went to mechanic, where they replaced faulty sway bar and also installed an exhaust spring bolt kit that was never installed to begin with. get the car back to not only have the same issues again along with issues with transmission seeming to slip. i was approaching a red light- again with my son in the car, while breaking- the car jumps rpm and almost ran into car in front of me. also on cruise control the car wouldn't stop rev'n the engine. it was stuck over 4 rpm. i bought this car for safety but it is far from safe. there was an airbag recall but when i purchased the car it was marked as a seat belt recall. i would of steered clear if i knew about airbag but now i know airbag may not work in crash or will deploy randomly even if it was fixed it's not a legit fix due to electrical?! also i believe the recall on 2.4 engines should also be looked into for more possible cars affected. my car follows same problems as those recalled and same engine but mines not recalled. this car clunks in and out of driveways. it feels like it will fall apart. the weather striping is poor allowing water to get in causing moldy smell. the brake lights accumulate water. there seem to be signs of electrical problems however mechanic can't see it. can't charge phone an listen to radio unless you like static! same with aux cord, just stopped working. aside from looking nice- crysler did a terrible job with this particular patriot. poorly built, not worth the money. they rather have people die or get seriously injured before looking into recalling it right? multiple attempts to fix it have been made and car is still in the shop.

The occupant restraint controller must be replaced.-i have not been notified to have this replaced on my vehicle yet!! i call jeep and apparently the recall is incomplete?! how come jeep is not taking care of this. i am concerned for those who ride in this car. what do i do? i was assured when i bought the jeep ~1yr ago from the dealer that the recall would be handled within a few months.

The vehicle will not start from a stationary position including any electrical except for "no bus" on the dashboard. this began around 34,500 miles in august 2016. i took my vehicle the local jeep dealership and they could not recreate the issue. i returned in december to the dealership for the same issue and nothing could be found. in february of 2017 i was able to leave the vehicle for 3 days but still nothing could be found. this does not occur every time but the only temporary solution is to disconnect and reconnect the battery, which was what i used until i was able to have it towed in. in january of 2018 i finally was able to have it towed to the closest dealership when the issue occurred. the final solution was that the totally integrated power module was replaced.

I have a 2014 jeep patriot latitude that has 48100 miles on it . its was fine up until know where it will stall out while driving and shut down and the stability light would come on . i would pull over and the car would restart . it has been happening a lot and its scary not to know when it will happen again . someone is going to get killed if the problem is not fixed . jeep should have a recall on the cars and fix the problem . the problem has happened while turning a corner and on streets and then went to stall out on a highway.

The throttle body needs replacing after suddenly losing power to the vehicle. the red light comes on along with the check engine. simple research shows this is a well known problem, yet jeep wants over $800 to replace it. this is truly deceptive and should be replaced on all vehicles without cost particularly given how dangerous of a situation it creates without advanced warning.

I’ve had 3 fuel pumps replaced and countless times my car hasn’t started just because like now, which brought me here. this needs a recall immediately but every time i look there isn’t one. i bought this car brand new in 2014 and it still only has 45,539 miles on it. a week ago i started my car & then it turned off. luckily i was at i’ve already had to replace the throttle body so with all of this we need a recall.

When trying to accelerate my vehicle a red lighning bolt appears on my dash than i am unable to gas the vehicle. than the light turns off and the car is normal until it needs to accelerate again than the problem will occur again. the light is not on long enough to be able to use a code reader to be able to find out the issur at hand. if it is a senor or something with the throttle or both. this has happened once before but only once this time it has been a continous on and off situation that i am unable to drive my vehicle comfortably.

My jeep on numerous occasions now has completely shut off the engine. the moments i'm in traffic are lucky, because when it happened on the freeway, i lost my s@$t. i was in a very scary situation and extremely lucky to have had pulled away without being or causing an accident. seems to happen when i'm in traffic, at slow moving speeds, and on the freeway, intermittently. sometimes it will kick back on before i have to pull off. but always in traffic if it happens it will completely shut off. no real pattern at all, just random.

Driving on the interstate, and the electrical indicator came on as well as power reduced down to 25-30 miles per hour during morning rush hour. drove car on shoulder of highway until closest exit for safety. towed vehical to mechanic, and throttle body was replaced.

I have been contacting my dealership since the recall was issued on my vehicle since 2017. every time i call i am advised that they do not have the parts to fix my vehicle, to call back. well it has been almost two years and i am still trying to have this recalled issue fixed. i was involved in an accident december of 2017 where my airbags did not deploy.

The active head restraint has failed. the steel pin which holds the restraint in the closed/set position tore through the plastic that is designed to hold it in place. the system has not deployed, but has released because of a material failure, and can not be reset. the vehicle was stationary, unoccupied, parked in my driveway, engine off, and the key in the house. had i been driving when the plastic failed, it would have been like getting randomly punched in the back of the head while moving down the road, creating a serious safety issue. i am concerned the passenger seat could have the same failure and injure my wife.

Remove and replace fuel tank assembly due to faulty check valve causing enability to fill tank without clicking off and spitting fuel back at you. no emissions code.

Tkata recall. i own a 2014 jeep patriot and have had nothing but trouble which started just a couple months after i purchased it new. the first issue was the transmission hose came off while i was driving down the highway. this caused the car to stall and i was nearly unable to control the car to get pulled over. the dealership replaced the hose clamp, filled with transmission fluid and released it back to me. had i known what hell i would be dealing with afterwards i would have never brought it back home. i now have electrical issues (i believe). the car will overheat within minutes of driving it. i have no heat. the etc light comes on often and the engine light is now a constant. i have had it to the repair shop to many times to count now and they are unable to figure it out. jeep has offered no assistance and states that there are no other issues like mine, but when i look at blogs there are thousands. i feel dooped by jeep. this complaint is my last resort because i do not know what else to do. i have tried to trade this car but the amount i owe and being that this car is of zero value due to all of the issues, it is almost impossible to trade in. someone please help!!!

The roll over check valve inside the gas tank gets stuck. if it sticks up it prevents gas tank venting. if it sticks down it allows gas to flow from the vent if the vehicle were to roll over. mine stuck up. when i disected the tank i had to pry the check valve out. once i got it out i found it moves freely through 270 degrees, but if you rotate it through the other 90 degrees it gets stuck.

Fuel tank will not accept gas. on most gas pumps the fuel clicks off every o.25 gallon. the only way to fill the tank is to barely open the fuel nozzle, so the tank fills very slowly. trouble with that is the fuel doesn’t shut off at all. i just fill the tank until it spills out. jeep wants over $1,600 to replace the fuel tank. i can spill a lot of gas for that price!

I purchased a brand new 2014 jeep patriot latitude from marshall dodge in crittenden (which should be shut down for horrible customer service after purchasing!) was a great car for the first little bit. i can no longer depend on this vehicle on the interstate. at interstate speed (65-70 mph) the car will begin to make a squeal noise and within five minutes i am playing leap frog to get to the emergency lane at max speed of (20 mph) and the vehicle is very jerky. when it does this all fluids in the car are fine, give it about 20 minutes and the car will act normal, but i cannot trust it to get back on the interstate. this has been going on for two years. i've taken it back to the dealership that i purchased it from and their useless extended warranty and nothing gets done! i have continually been told they cannot find any signs via computer it has done anything like this or after keeping it for two weeks driving it and looking it over it has no reason to. it is beginning to happen more frequently and am frustrated i can trust my original vehicle (thankfully i didn't trade it in to that crooked dealership) that has almost 200,000 miles on it, a 2004 scion tc, more than a vehicle i bought brand new that started becoming unreliable with 36,000 miles on it. i feel like i bought a lemon and the dealership doesn't want to fix it. this vehicle cannot be trusted to get to a to b and i feel like i am getting screwed by my jeep dealership and jeep. there should be a recall on this, the more i research the more common it is; or jeep should have to make these vehicles right, because they are extremely dangerous and could cause a major accident on the interstate! if it is never made right you can bet i will never own another jeep product and i will be sure let my family and friends know just how dangerous they are!

Vehicle lost power and went into limp mode due to faulty throttle body. per research and mechanics statement there is known issues with the cheap, poor made throttle body in this vehicle.

Driving on a 55mph highway at 55mph and acceleration discontinued . i noticed etc warning light was on , car would not throttle properly i pulled off road onto emergency lane. i could have been rear ended but fortunately was not. looked in manual, returned home within 6 miles at about 30mph on 55mph road . called chrysler dealer and they said it was under warranty due to less than 60,000 miles it could be towed there free. they stated i needed a new throttle body but not under warranty. why would a major part need replaced at such low mileage.

Leaks water from out of light in rear hatch area during and after it rains

As i was driving, the car would display the etc and malfunction mil lights on dash and abruptly stop running ! this happened more than 7 times with no prior warning. i was almost killed when my car suddenly lost all power while driving 60ish mph on the highway and was barely able to coast over. after getting car towed to jeep dealer, i saw other patriots there exhibiting the same problem. i only have a little over 30k miles yet had to replace the electronic throttle totalling over $850. now, a few months later and less than 150 miles driven, i had my vehicle completely lose all power as i was driving 45 mph in heavy city traffic. i am petrified to drive this death trap

While driving in the city at about 30 mph my etc light comes on and car starts to slow and will not let me accelerate. also as soon as i stop and start to go my car moves very slowly about 10mph and sometimes the etc light and stability control light will come on and my car will not accelerate over 15/20mph at all until i stop and try to go again. sometimes it’s so bad that i have to stop and shut off my car and start it again for it to fix itself. this is very dangerous especially when going across the road or turning when other cars are coming. never mind how dang it is if it is to happen on the highway, which i have avoided since i don’t feel like dying anytime soon. everything i read on the internet is saying that it’s been happening to many people that have 2014 jeep patriots. this is honestly something that is going to get someone seriously hurt and at no fault of their own. i’ve also read about a recall on an engine part from 2013 in the 2014 patriots with a 2.4l engine and i am just wondering why when i look up recalls for my car that specific one does not show up. if something is wrong and needs to be replaced owners should be notified before someone gets hurt.

When driving on highways and city streets the whole dashboard lights up with all the warning symbols. everything in the dashboard including the speedomoter resets to zero lights up and then goes off and on for a couple of miles. it sounds like the car system is trying to click on and off or readjust. i then am not able to accelerate above 40mph when the gas pedal is all the way to the floor while driving on highways, city streets and turning. the traction light is on although i do not manually have it on and sputters when turning on city streets and grinds gears and gets stuck not allowing me to accelerate above 20mph. after receiving a diagnostics from a jeep dealership they said that the above stated issues could be related to the throttle body system. the issues are still occuring after mulptile mechanic checks.

Takata recall this is the 2nd time this happened 3 months apart. today i was going 45 mph driving for 3 minutes and my track light, battery light, and engine light came on and i lost pressure in the acceleration and could only move 20 mph. i pulled over to turn my car off and back on, then it worked like nothing was wrong. this also has happened 3 months ago on the bypass going 70 mph and i had children in the car. i thought we were going to die. so we pulled off the road to let it cool down and all the lights went away and ran as if nothing was wrong. very scary.

Tamara recall to whom it may concern my 2014 jeep patriot throttle body went out while driving and almost caused a crash i looked up on the jeep forum and their is thousands of people with the same year and make with the same issues alot of them caused recks from throttle body issues, what happen was i was driving on a city street and came to a stop sign and then my etc light and check engeine light came on blinking and then with my foot completly on the break and i just got new breaks done a couple of months ago , my jeep started to rev and the rpms went all the way to the red and my jeep was off bucking and went straight ahead while my foot is still on the break i was completely not in control of my jeep and i was heading right into another vehicle i slammed on my horn and put my hazards on and the other person slammed on their breaks, i was able to coast off the road because it wpuldnt go over 20 mph after that and turn my jeep off and called a tow truck and sent it to the shop , and they called me saying it was throttle control body went out and saying its going to be like 600 dollars to fix. it was the most scariest and dangerous thing i've ever seen happen with vehicles. i called chrysler and they seemed like they understood this has been a promblem and they just did not care the below pictures are just some of the people that went thru the same thing its called jeep forum. thanks for your concern

I was driving on the freeway doing 65 and the jerked hard and the power of the car droped down to about 20 mph almost causing me to get into a crash with cars behind me a red lighing bolt lite up on the dash as this was happening and at that same time the check engine light came on if i pressed on the gas nothing but rpm went up and the car would not go over 20 mph the lights stopped and the car went back to normal barely making it home same thing happened again it's the etc light check engine light and esc stability control light all come on and you lose power to acelrate.

Vehicle sputters when accelerating as if losing oil pressure. it’s significant enough to not want to turn or pullout into traffic unless there is a large and safe distance between other vehicles from fear of stalling or just not accelerating fast enough.

I've had 2 new 2014 jeep patriots, and the electronic throttle control has failed on both while highway driving at 65mph, leaving cars with no engine power or power steering. somebody will die one day in this car. i junked the first one after repairing the etc, and now it has happened again on the 2nd one. please google the subject and see thousands of others w/same issue. jeep refuses to acknowledge all the way down to the dealership level, and will not repair or replace the defective part. i have had this happen twice on 2 new 015 patriots purchased from the same dealer in marietta, ga. there is something seriously defective in these etcs, and i am lucky my wife and daughter were able to negotiate themselves off the highway without getting maimed or killed. jeep needs to be brought to acknowledgement, and recall on this very dangerous issue.

The vehicle starts to rev up really high and then begins to put alone turn it off the light goes out the five minutes into driving and comes back on and almost cuts off in mid traffic

My 2014 jeep patriot will not accelerate and has hesitation after acceleration at a stop signal or sign. i use "premium" gas, thinking that regular gas was the issue. i have almost been in 2 separate accidents, one recent situation on 8/13/2018 when my patriot "hesitated" after turning onto a road with oncoming traffic. my vehicle would not accelerate causing the person behind me to "hard brake" to not hit me, as well as the driver behind him. i have only had this vehicle for 4 months and do not feel this is a safe vehicle, especially driving in city traffic.

Takata recall. my car has around 35,000 miles on it. the past few days in the morning, when i start my car, it starts but then hesitates. it will hesitate for around 20 seconds. the car was in park, in a driveway of a house. i think it only happens when the car has been off for a period of time.

Driving my nrkmal route to take my son to his summer program.(city street, 24mph speed limit) on arrival, only driving 3 miles from my home, my rpms were well over 2000 at a stop light. the car began sto shake. the engine light, electronic stability control light, and stability control light come on. i pulled over the the nearest gas station. turned car off and back in again. rpms over 2500. they died down after 2 min. all lights still flashing. got it to somewhere yo have codes read. "high airflow vacuum leak". nursed it home,.could not go over 20mp. anything over 20mph the car shook violently. rpms were over 2000. all of this driving was kn city streets with speed limits not going over 35mph. we tried to replace the throttle body today. still having the same issues. jeep on neutral (manual tranny) rpms over 2000 still.

I have a 2014 jeep patriot with about 33,474 miles when the problem occurred. i was driving going home in a busy street in los angeles when all of a sudden the malfunction indicator light (mil) and electronic stability control (esc) (see photos) light showed up on the dashboard and i stopped because the traffic light turned red. i had 3 passengers with me and they were trying to google what the dashboard light means. when the light turned green, i started to drive but the engine was stalling, as if it doesn't want to drive, no power. so i parked at the curb, turned off the ignition and waited for a few seconds then turned the ignition on again. the esc disappeared from the dashboard but the mil remained lit up. i was able to drive home and the next day, took the vehicle to my mechanic. my mechanic replaced the throttle body and it's working fine now. i noticed the difference in the performance of the vehicle before and after the throttle was changed. i am reporting this to you because i have heard news and got a letter from a law firm informing me of a number of mechanical defects reported about the vehicle. at this point, i am too late to bring it to a jeep dealer for repair because the vehicle is out of warranty.

My headrest deployed without experiencing collision. the headrest is to deploy in a front or rear collision. my headrest deployed as i was driving. the pieces inside the headrest are broken and have been deemed a defective piece by my local dealer.

The dash lights of a lighting bolt and traction control come on. the jeep starts lurching and sputtering. the max speed goes to about 25 miles per hours. this has happened 5 times and the dealers can't tell me what's wrong, no codes appear. this is very unsafe and i am paying for a vehicle that can't be driven.

Ever since buying my 2014 jeep patriot the brakes have been faulty. if i drive over a bumpy road and slowly press on my brakes to slow down it becomes very faulty and the pedal feels as if i am breaking through the ground. i have to quickly release, wait till i am on flat ground and press on the brakes again to have a better grip on braking. this also happened when i had to brake abruptly. the car overall is fine, it's just the brakes have been acting up since the beginning. and it doesn't matter if i'm on the freeway or in a residential area, i always need to be aware of this because it always happens. the jeep has a manual transmission but i don't think that should matter because my roommate has the same exact car but an automatic and she has the same exact issue with her car as well. car was in motion when this happens.

Safety headrest failure. ahr (active headrest restraint) failure. was driving at 25mph, passenger headrest exploded causing loud noise and distracted my driving. pulled over to inspect my vehicle and found the passenger headrest was deployed. this is a safety feature that is intended to engage during a collision. i was never involved in a collision in this vehicle. jeep has been contacted regarding this issue with little resolution. vehicle has less than 40,000 miles, basic safety equipment should not be failing at this point.

Takata recall- 3 dash lights on etc, mil, and esc activational malfunction indicator light on- car makes sputtering loud noise and stalls/turns off quickly after starting. car will not accelerate and is jerking/hard to press breaks. feels dangerous like car is going to shut off at any moment. this started last night when 3 lights appeared on dash but car sounded normal. shortly after it shut off and has gone decreasingly down hill.this sounds like a recall issued for jeep patriots but does not cover my vin number.

So for the last month or two my wife 2014 jeep patriot has had the ect light come on along with others with t like the tc and check engine and whats happening is its basically losing power randomly and when it start it doesn't go away you can even get the vehicle over 10 mph i personally have ready a bunch of these same complaints on here and other forum and think there should be a recall on it from what i've heard their is a issue with the throttle body.

Received notice that my 2014 jeep patriot has takata airbags and was recalled. i took the car into mcinrneys chrysler jeep and they told me chrysler would contact me. it has been one year and no communication, no letters, no calls

Takata recall i bought the jeep patriot 2014 from a dealer on 7/17/2017. i was never told that there was a recall on the vehicle for a potentially fatal flaw in the airbags. i had no idea this vehicle had a recall until i received a notice in the mail last week. i have contacted my mechanic for repairs and they have ordered the parts. my concern is that they knowingly sold me a defective vehicle. this should be a criminal act and it would be if i am injured or killed driving it until repairs can be made.

When turning left a loud noise sounds as my power steering. have taken it to be inspected where i take my vehicles and they cannot figure it out. already had one recall on this vehicle and only a few years old

While parked and idling, electronic systems started malfunctioning - indicator lights, wipers, brake booster, radio - all turned on with or without the key in the ignition. smoke began to pour from the totally integrated power module (tipm) in the engine compartment, which then briefly stared on fire. only disconnecting the battery allowed the module to cool down and stop smoking.

Leslie, a service advisor at absher arnold motors located in marion, illinois refused to perform a safety recall repair on my 2014 jeep patriot. she stated they could not get the part and that the part was being “rationed out.” this went on over a period of about three weeks. upon contacting another area dealership (weeks in west frankfort) they had the part in two days and performed the recall repair the next day. i feel this matter should be looked into so that others aren’t provided with this type of service and false information. thank you.

Brakes needed replaced left side only at 30,000 miles,1rotor and pads,right side very good condition

Takata recall- i was in an accident on 10/13/16. i was driving on the highway and when i went around a turn it seemed like my brakes were locking up or something, i started swerving around on the highway and i eventually lost control of my vehicle and ended up rolling the vehicle twice before landing down an embankment. my car was deemed a total loss. i estimate that i was going at a rate of around 45-50 miles per hour. none of the airbags went off. at a high speed impact the airbags should have gone off. i suffered minor injuries, and i still have pain in both my knees.

The universal joint holding the side mirror broke on both sides of the vehicle within ~1 month of each other. the same component failed in exactly the same way in both instances. in both cases, the problem was discovered at the end of a work day (~5pm) after the vehicle was parked outside for the entire work day. the problem was noticed prior to entering or even touching the vehicle. the mirror was loose and pointing more toward the ground than normal. upon attempting to adjust the mirror into the correct position, it was found to be loose and detached. the broken piece is made of plastic. it has a hemisphere with 3 prongs sticking out of it. the 3 prongs have grooves in them that engage with tabs on a spacial washer. the washer pushes on a spring. one of the prongs is broken at the top of the groove which is engaged with the washer. it appears that the plastic is not strong enough for the spring load, but there may also be contributing factors due to stress concentrations in the groove or from the sharp edges of the washer. here is my best interpretation of the text on the sticker on the assembly. original torque 1.0-2.0 19-459000-000 lot. no 04314 seoul, south korea

My jeep keeps stalling and shut off without any warning. the jeep was being driven when this happens.and stopped.

2014 jeep patriot stalls out on me. traveling at speeds anywhere from 30mph to 55 mph. problem initially started in early 2016. driving at speed of 55 mph, car will start to vibrate, the engine and the etc (electric throttle control) lights will come on and the engine will completely shut off and stall out. the last stalling out while driving occurred 09/07/17. after restarting the vehicle and attempting to merge onto the road after being on the shoulder, the car will lunge forward and again stall out. after 5-7 attempts and nearly being hit each time i try to get on the main road, the patriot will finally get me straight home. this has been an ongoing every 3-4 month occurrence for the past year and a half. i have contacted the jeep dealership where i purchased the vehicle and they tell me they know of no such complaints occurring. this vehicle must be recalled, it is a deathtrap! i am terrified to drive my patriot but seeing as i have no other option for transportation, i have to say a prayer and drive it to my place of employment. the vehicle has stalled out pulling away from my driveway after backing out, turning the corner at the end of my street and while driving it on a straight road at 55 mph and always in motion. next time it does happen, since it always occurs more than once, i will record it and send it to the nhtsa. i've been reading many different message boards across the internet this is a common occurrence. this issue needs to be repaired or vehicles bought back or replaced before someone dies!

There is recall to replace the occupant restrain controller on my car however when i call the dealer to schedule an appointment and get it replaced i was told that chrysler has put a hold on the measure as a solution because replacing the part may do more damage than it already does and that for now they were just taking names down and will call back once the company has a better solution. i however have noticed that sometimes that pressure to hold the seat belt in does not stay and tensioner opens randomly.

Driving down the street and the electronic throttle control light came one, the stability control light came on and the check engine light came on. the jeep started shaking and lost power. i pulled over and restarted the car, it started normally but moments later the lights all cam back and the jeep starting shaking. then two days of normal driving and then it happened again. this appears to be a known issue and a recall should be issued. i have researched this and found complaints dating back to 2008.

My 2014 jeep patriot over the last several months seems to be losing power while driving. for example when on the on ramp attempting to enter the interstate , it just feels like its almost running out of gas and rpm's will go up to 5-6 .i am almost afraid of being ran over when accelerating during any situation. also my brakes from day one have always squeeked... i've taken it in to have it checked , they have cleaned and days later the same think. and the drums on rear are even worse, more of a grinding sound, but also i have been told they are fine. this noise is not normal . i have also had a few incidents where say sitting in traffic with my foot on the brake it will switch from manual to standard. it will be in drive then i will look and it will be in d 1. i have to manually push the shifter over to go back to normal drive.

My jeep patriot starting having acceleration issues about a month ago. while driving, it does not matter if i am turning or driving straight, the vehicle feels like it is being cut off from the fuel and gets jerky. now the electronic throttle control warning light will come on and then go out. this happens on city streets doing 25mph or on the highway doing 60mph. i drive my two daughters around and cannot trust this vehicle to be safe. we have tried looking into fixing it and no one can tell us what is wrong. every forum we have gone to tells us that they have filed complaints as well and nothing is being done. i cannot wait for this to completely go out with risk of an accident. some have stated that they have had to tow their vehicle home because it will completely shut off. there is no actual answer to the problem and the parts are a maybe for a fix. which do we fix first? the cheapest or both? also, some of the parts are only factory direct ordering. please look into this major safety concern and get a recall started!! i am getting afraid to drive this vehicle and i can't keep putting money into something that doesn't fix it!! this has been going on for over a month!

I received this recall notice in late oct/nov 2016. the day i received it, i called the number listed and was put on a waiting list to let me know when the part was available. i received another recall notice the week of 8/21/17 for the exact same reason. i called my jeep dealership and told them about the recall notice a scheduled an appointment. this morning i go to drop off my jeep and they tell me that they do not have the part and that they would put me on a list. this recall is just shy of a year old now. i feel that this should have been fixed by now. no one has ever called me about this part becoming available.

Electronic throttle control indicator light comes on a t highway speed with resulting loss of power- creating dangerous situation

While driving on highways any time over 60 mph, the jeep loses power and the transmission overheating light comes on. i have to pull over, wait for it to cool, before i can drive again. it happened again yesterday. i was driving at 65 mph on route 95. the transmission light came on and the car dropped to 30 mph. i had my wife, my dog and my baby in the car and it was not overloaded. i was not towing anything. in the past, i reported it to my dealer and they said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. this is extremely dangerous. i am afraid to attempt travel with my family in the car. i just got transferred to camp lejeune and need to find a reputable dealer where this issue can be addressed. i only have 53,000 miles on this car and it has had more problems than you could imagine. lemon

Since day 1 of buying my jeep brand new it stalls while i drive. recently it has gotten 100x worse. today i was heading home from out of town and i was driving on the highway when once again my rpm gauge would go down to 0 and my car would jerk. although this time it did it over and over and over again until i finally pulled over and when i did my car completely locked up and stopped..like usual. so i turned my car off and back on and then it was fine again. until 10 minutes later. it began jerking non stop on the highway so i pulled over and was gonna restart my car, but this time it wouldn't turn on. i sat there on the side of the highway panicking for 10 minutes until i could finally get it back on. and yet the next hour was full of non stop jerking and having to pull over. i have taken my car into the dealership around 4 times yet there's no light on so nothing can be found. i happen to look up recently and see there was apparently a recall on this veichle so i took it in again, but when they put my vin there is nothing! this problem with it jerking and stalling has been happening since around december of 2013. i finally have decided to make a report because i am so tired of having to worry about my car dying on me while i'm driving! this veichle is so unsafe and needs to be fixed!!

This vehicle is not on the recall from december 2014, however is presenting with the same as listed problems. it stalls when driving over 65 miles an hour a light comes on and then after car sits 20 min it will start up again. i drive a lot and have a famil.. this is terribly dangerous. it has happened 2 to 3 times in the past couple of weeks

For the past 2 weeks the red lighting bolt on my 2014 jeep patriot turns on and off, sometimes when the ac is on, and sometimes when i am driving more than 40mph. today, it was different the lighting bolt turned on while driving 20mph with the ac off, it started flashing and then my engine light came on. the engine starting stalling, the car went onto park mode without me switching the gear, then it moved forward and then backwards while on park mode. this is very frightening, especially when i was driving my 15moths, and 9 years old to camp. i took the car to the dealer, and they suggested a tune-up. are you kidding me? the car only has 28,000, i don't think it needs a tune up. now, i am afraid to drive the car, and the dealership does not know what is causing such problem.

I purchased this vehicle with 34, 000 miles dec 2015. it ran well until 3000 mi into driving it, some days it would not start. it would take me multiple attempts of turning the ignition......no cranking .....just nothing. so i took it to the dealer i purchased it from and they said it started fine, no problems. well it continued to occur without any notice and i returned to the dealer 5000 mi. later and they said for an xtra $40.00 they could perform a diagnostic test! i explained i felt they should do that at their expense since i only bought the car in dec. they declined and said if i were change my mind they would run a test.....6 months later the car sometimes starts and now its loosing power on hills and highway.....poor pickup....im fedup and ready to sell this vehicle and i have extended warranty on this car that im paying for and cant even depend on it.

This is the 4th time that my jeep that was purchased in january 2015 has been in the shop replacing the transmission. my transmission is losing power and slipping. a very loud grinding noise started and every mile that i drove it gradually got worse causing it to lose power. i was told if problem is not fixed the vehicle will end up shutting off on its own while driving down the road. thus creating a huge safety issue as it could cause an accident. when is a vehicle considered a lemon? i don't want to wait until something life threatening happens with my family , friends, or customers are in my vehicle. this is the 4th time that i have lost money from it being in the shop.

I really hate that i have so many issues with the console electrical in my car. mostly radio/aux/charger/starter. since about a week after i got the car, and of corse after 3 days its not returnable. i messed up buying it brand-new, but i was excited since my car before that was my first car that i had bought in high school. i had to have the charger unit replaced so i could charge my phone. at the time i was stationed 3 hours from home, so i frequently made the trip and needed my phone charged for the gps. it's not that it wouldn't charge, but the charger had to be "turned" a specific way. it wasn't the charger.. i tried countless. recently, within the last year, i noticed that the aux is doing the exact same thing. and yes, i've tried multiple phones and aux cords, but the cord has to be turned a "certain way" in the hole to work. it pissed me off because i had to pay to have my charger replaced, and i'm sure i'll have to pay to have this replaced too. oh, and the starter. (or i think its the starter) about a year ago, i have to turn the key and hold it for a second to get my car to start sometimes.. its so irritating.. i learned my lesson with buying new cars. the warranties cover nothing and they have more issues then the old camaro i bought for my first car :/

Since day one of purchasing the patriot my vehicle has had non-stop issues, more recently almost resulting in the driver and passenger being involved in an accident with an 18 wheeler after the vehicle went from 80mph to 40mph in less than 5 minutes, transmission fluid light came on and rpms stayed at 4200. the car made a ridiculous screaming noise and this was after the dealership had my vehicle for 2 weeks (third time bringing it in for the above problem) and now it is at the dealership again where i am being told there isn't anything they can do. the vehicle has had new struts (complained about a clunking noise when turning left and shockingly they couldn't replicate the problem until the third time bringing it in), new brake sensor switch after they also found the master was leaking into the booster and then they found the sensor switch bad -that was october of 2015, april 23rd 2016 they said that had to be replaced and that was what was causing the transmission issue - i may be a girl but i"m not stupid (that was the second time i brought it in for the trans. issue). it's had a new radio and telematic modules 5 times, new antenna, new tire sensors, molding, door panel, etc. this car was too expensive to have these issues and jeep/chrysler group are telling me that the transmission is obviously over heating going into "limp" mode resulting in the vehicle staying in 4th gear and loosing speed - this vehicle is a coffin on wheels and i was told this was reliable. we have everything on video that happened after picking up the car from the dealership on may 21, 2016 and after taking it for a drive to assure the problem was gone (again third time it was brought in). the service manager told me that the computer resets like a laptop which is why the error codes go away and is continuing to feed us lies even with evidence in hand. my vehicle terrifies me now.

I've had my vehicle since new in 2014 and for the first year of having the vehicle i traveled 50 miles one way to work every day, so i put a lot of miles on the vehicle but mainly highway miles. i've never had an issue with the vehicle until a month ago. i went to go to work and the electronic throttle control light, check engine light, an traction control lights came on. the vehicle would not accelerate because of the etc light. the engine pulsated and revved steady at 4,000 rpms until i shut the vehicle off. i took it to a chrysler dealer and they replaced the pcm. i got my vehicle back and it worked fine for about 2 weeks. upon getting gas the vehicle would not start. all the lights and the radio worked but it would not click, crank, or turn over. i finally was able to start the vehicle and it ran fine for 3 days and the same thing happened in a parking lot. i took it to another chrysler dealer and had yet another pcm put in it. the vehicle is still at the chrysler dealer and i've been without it and driving a rental for almost a week now. i've contacted chrysler and upon asking them what is going to happen if the issue persists, they could only say they'll continue to diagnose it and fix it. i have a 2 year old and i can't afford to be driving an let sit along the side of the road if i decide to take him somewhere farther away.

"takata recall" i believe my son died in a crash caused by a faulty takata airbag. my son hit a tree while seat belted in and had no bodily injuries except for a scratch on his leg. i believe that the side air deployed sending a sharp metal object under his left arm severing his artery, which caused him to bleed out and died. there was no other cause for his artery to be severed, except for the airbag causing a piece of metal to sever his artery. ..updated 12/11/17 *bf *js

2014 jeep patriot 6 months ago driving on interstate the acceleration speed went from 70 mps to 25 mps almost hit by 18 wheeler truck took into dealership stated the speed se sor was defected and repaired. on april 25 car acceleration wslowed down and car was throttling. dealership stated codes were transmission issues, cvt shiffted out of transmission. unhappy only had car 2 years seeking legal advice immediately! car is very unsafe on interstate.

Driving on dirt road at appx 7,000 ft, temp appx 58deg, slightly hilly. accelerator cut out and tach went to 3,000, speed remained constant at around 30 mph, floored pedal and then put toe under it and pulled back both with no effect. tranny gear indicator said 6, hit brake and slowed down but no effect on rpm, shifted gear shift left three times and rpm dropped to 800, used manual shifting about next three miles. pulled off to side and turned off engine. restarted and every thing was normal. second occurance of same problem.

Ever since buying my 2014 jeep patriot the brakes have been faulty. if i drive over a bumpy road and slowly press on my brakes to slow down it becomes very faulty and the pedal feels as if i am breaking through the ground. i have to quickly release, wait till i am on flat ground and press on the brakes again to have a better grip on braking. this also happened when i had to brake abruptly. the car overall is fine, it's just the brakes have been acting up since the beginning. and it doesn't matter if i'm on the freeway or in a residential area, i always need to be aware of this because it always happens. the jeep has a manual transmission but i don't think that should matter because my roommate has the same exact car but an automatic and she has the same exact issue with her car as well.

On march 8 2016 at 2.00 am i was going to pick up my daughter from work and was on the expressway and the car wouldn't accelerate over 40 miles. i try to pick up. speed and it sound like the engine was falling apart i was almost rear ended i exited off the expressway drove home on the side street and called a family member for a ride i could have been killed i am going to call the service department were i purchased the vehicle and get the vehicle inspected because this car is not even 2 years old.

Leaks water from out of headliner in rear hatch area after rain

Northern minnesota - the side windows completely frost over making it impossible to see. i have to scrape the windows to see out at intersections. the windshield itself will only defrost 70%. i have to use either full defrost mode -- leaving my feet to freeze -- or alternate between 50/50 feet/defrost and full defrost. i have tried cracking the windows or turning on the ac with heat but to no avail. this creates a dangerous driving situation. the windows often freeze shut so it is not possible to wind the window down at intersections either. this has been happening all winter. today it was -5 degrees here and the colder it is the worse the frost over on the windows is. i can not see at all out of either the drivers or passenger side windows.

My car would not start, there was still power to the lights and radio. my jeep has only 20,673 miles on it. i bought it brand new in december 2013. it is still under manufacturer warranty. i had it towed to the closest chrysler dealer. san leandro chrysler is where i bought it and have it serviced regularly. i purchased the service contract from the dealer. they took 5 business days to look at it. i had to pay for a rental car out of my own pocket. the service tech determined it was the wcm was non responsive. they said since i had an aftermarket alarm the warranty was void. i had the alarm installed by an alarm specialist. they charged me $185 for the diagnostic, and my car still did not work. i did a google search for wcm. it turns out this problem goes back to 2008 in jeep, chrysler and dodge vehicles. one of the forums recommended i disconnect the battery or a certain fuse. i did that, the car started right up ! i told the service manager and he said that he was not going to refund my money. this wcm can only be installed by a dealer because it has to match the vin #. this part should be recalled ! your vehicle could just turn off while you are driving it !

Vehicle involved in a head on collision combined impact of about 40 mph. driver ended up out of seat draped over steering wheel. physical exam of driver showed bruise on left clavicle area indicating shoulder strap was in use. driver suffered severe contusion and possible fracture of sternum. incident took place on december 3rd, 2015. accident report available from waukesha county sheriff's department. intersection of elmhurst and northview.

First day ,i drove out of dealer,with my new jeep patriot,a rolling noise was coming from my wheels,never in other autos i herd,such a loud bearing noise,as i drive. i thought it was normal,but i had to close my windows,thinking that it will help. as time goes,with 30,000 miles is getting worse!,it sounds like a thous old metal skate boards,with metal rolling wheel bearings. i turned off my engine,i put car in neutral,coast down in a down sloped street,and the laud bearing noise is there. i jack my car up,with my floor jack,put stands,turned wheels by hand ,no bearing noise!.start engine,while in jacks,put in drive,noise and jerk at 25 mph.

Since march of 2015 the car has experienced 43 non-starts. when you insert the key and turn it to start the only thing that happens is the dash lights come on. the car has been in the shop 4 times and each time the dealer cant find a problem. the last time the car was in the dealership admitted the car has a problem as stated in in star report. chrysler does not have a fix and wont until the earliest of 1st qtr of 2016. the condition is called a skim out and if it doesnt start after 6 tries it will not start for 12-24 hours leaving the driver stranded

My car has stalled completely over a dozen times while driving or even just from being parked and trying to move forward or backward. the first time i took it to the dealer was after i was driving on the freeway and the car completely shut off. i turned on my emergency lights and moved to the left shoulder. thankfully other vehicles realized something was wrong and let me move out of the way. i could've hurt some one else or myself. i was parked for 5 minutes when i tried to start it again but the car was hesitant. i tried again and was able to get out of the freeway safely and it shut off again a few miles from there. i then had it towed to the dealer. they stated that there were no error codes and that the car was okay. now again on oct 8th 2015 it did it again will driving on a city street. after letting it sit i was able to get home and after 20 minutes i drove it to the dealer and it stalled again down the street from the dealer. i had to get it towed in case there were error codes on the software. they've had my car for 4 days and they have already called that there are no error codes. they have had technicians try to duplicate the problem both times but no luck. i refuse to drive the car. i will not put my life or any one else in danger.

A good year eagle tire exploded. these tires were on my jeep when i bought it 2 years ago. i have since learned that this has happened many times to many drivers. two of the tire dealers in my area refuse to sell that model tire due to such problems. i have contacted brighton chrysler in brighton michigan to alert them to the problem. i have as yet to call chrysler or good year, but i intend to find out who put these tires on my car, and report this problem. this could cause injuries or death and result in a class action lawsuit. there are a great many reviews on the internet reporting problems with good year tires of this, and other models.

This vehicle is equipped with metal chromed lug nut covers which are pressed onto the lug nuts. twice now after a tire rotation and having all 4 wheels removed and reinstalled these lug nut caps have come flying off. once when speeds were 45mph+ the other at 70mph. due to having my arm out the window i was struck by one of these caps and was cut and bruised. dealer has replaced the affected lug nuts but they are replacing them with the same defective lug nuts used at the factory. 2 times now after tire rotation this has occurred where several of these caps have come flying off of the vehicle. dealer keeps replacing them and i have contacted chrysler to inform them of the issue and desire to have the lug nuts replaced with solid nuts. chrysler and the dealer have so far refused to replace these defective lug nuts with anything other than the same faulty ones. as these are ejected from the vehicle at high speeds the concern is that bystanders could be severely injured if struck by one of these caps, and or significant damage to other vehicles, or property.

I was on a 300 mile road trip. i was on the highway with cruise control on around 70-73 mph and driving on fairly level road (no hills). the transmission downshifted and the engine rpm went up between 4500-5000. the transmission would not down shift automatically. i had to turn off the cruise control and slow down for it to shift. this happened 3 times on the trip. there is less than 25000 miles on the vehicle. thinking seriously about getting rid of this vehicle before i get stuck with it.

When making a turn at a stop light or merging into traffic at a low speed, engine dies but will restart after it's put back into park & restarted. this has happened seven times & one time when not turning & usually when you are turning into oncoming traffic and has been in for repairs each time. service can't diagnose the issue. vehicle does not give any indication that engine will die. traction control light comes on if it dies while turning but if not turning, vehicle engine simply shuts off, as if ignition has been turned off but vehicle has to be in park as opposed to being in drive when engine dies. the engine is quiet & you can't tell it's died & you have no steering control. i've almost been in three accidents, one with a truck-trailer waiting to turn but stopping about a foot away from behind me. my mom was in a high school parking lot after a game & almost rolled into some high school kids & their parents b/c she didn't realize she was rolling backwards until my brother pulled the e-brake. the dealership i purchase from told me that chrysler deems it a lemon. i opened a case with chrysler, they wasted my time & finally told me that ncdsusa.org deems it a lemon. i waste more time to open a case with ncdsusa.org & send them my repair orders & they go through the trial & tell me that they do not deem it a lemon but that since the dealership has said it's in working order that my case is declined. this vehicle is a death trap & chrysler doesn't care that an unsafe vehicle is on the road, that i've almost been in three accidents & could have died when the truck and trailer almost rear-ended me and that it's not just my family or myself (if i survive) that will be filing a lawsuit but any other parties involved because i will tell the other party and they could be sued by them as well. i've given dealerships chances to get this off the road but they refuse to help.

While i was driving home through pa, my car's transmission warning light came on. i lost speed, horsepower, and torque; i struggled to make it up hill (didn't go pass 40 mph), was almost rear-ended by cars behind me. i pulled over and let my car rest for 30 minutes and made it home at 65 mph. i normally travel anywhere between 70 & 75 mph on the freeway. i took it to my local jeep dealership in wheeling, wv the following monday. the service dept. told me there were no recorded messages (codes) in the computer system and, therefore, no service was completed on the vehicle. the tech even informed me that this was a common problem he sees, but chrysler hasn't fixed it and hopes there's a recall. fast-forward to august 31st, 2015, i encountered the same problem twice while driving home through oh. i had autozone run a diagnostic and again, no recorded codes in the system. i see a mechanic tomorrow (friday, sept. 4th) and jeep on august 10th. i've been reading about this issue on various forums and youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnkezt0mr-4; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-4stctcgkw). after further research, this problem has been reoccurring issue with jeep, dodge, and chrysler for a long time. people have been reporting this issue and taking it to their local dealership with no service. there's a problem here and chrysler has known this for several years.

Purchased a 2014 jeep patriot (used) on 03/15/2014 was going to work at 5am. all of a sudden was in 2 lane jeep started loosing power, skipping bad,it did not wont to run!!! finally got it out of the road. this was in august of 2015. called my husband he came we got it back home. police stopped to see if i was ok now i called the jeep recall place and gave them my vin number said no recalls . so now the jeep will not start when i turn the ignition on! have to do it several times to get it to crank!!! we live up on mountain now it started again the same thing!!!! hesitates going up the mountain and also on straight flat road!!! so what am i suppose to do???? it scares me thinking i am going to get stranded on side of road anytime, especially at 5 in the mornings!!!! still doing the same thing!!! i just feel like i aint the only one this has happen to with the jeeps.

In march, transmission overheated while on highway, lost speed very quickly. took vehicle in, transmission fill tube was missing and then replaced. over the next few months, i noticed extremely loud whining noises coming from vehicle while driving. fuel mileage is extremely low. in july, the transmission overheated again, took it in to dealership with no diagnosis, opened up a star case with fiat-chrysler, after 2 weeks, no diagnosis, picked up the vehicle, drove it for 1 week and transmission overheated with a crack in transmission fill tube again. the transmission overheats and does not report a repair code to the main computer in the vehicle and the manufacturer will not repair it without. vehicle has broken down multiple times on highway due to transmission overheating.

Vibration while driving on hw then car was shifting checked and found tie rod end was lose almost going to brake having lose tie rod put the life of driver and all in the car at high risk i came to know that this is common problem in jeep cars

Driving down the highway around 70 mph with the cruise control on, vehicle stopped pulling and engine rpm shot up over 6 on the needle. it has happened twice in 4 months.

After a storm i got into my new 2014 jeep patriot which only has 8,000 miles on it and i noticed that my dome light above the cd player in the headliner was completely full of water. i was unable to take it out so i had to drive home like that and everytime i went around a curve water gushed out of my dome light all over me and my dash and cd player. then another day it was raining and i was driving the jeep and water droplets kept falling from the headliner/light area. i took it to the dealership and they have had to take the headliner down and work on it for over 2 weeks to fix the problem.

Our seat belt light started to mess up in june 2015, we took it to the service department and after they tried two switches i was told that it could not be fixed and that all 2014 jeep patriots do this! if you pull the seat belt out an inch from home position the light goes off, when you actually have it clicked it will still beep at you telling you that your not wearing your seat belt! we have only had this jeep since feb. 2014 and purchased it brand new! it will not pass inspection on base, so technically we are not even suppose to be driving this unsafe jeep that can't be fixed! all 2014 jeep patriots do not do this, i know a couple of people who purchased a jeep patriot within a month or two from my purchase. now the seat belt light will stay off even without me wearing my seat belt! i have tried contacting isg, nhtsa, chrysler service and cannot reach anyone about my safety issue!

For the fourth time, when driving the vehicle on hway at 65 to 70 miles per hour, overheat lamp goes on even though gage does not rise and car starts to slow down to approximately 40 miles per hour. when acceleration is attempted the vehicle makes a loud winding sound and slows down to less than 20 mph. eventually acceleration does not matter as vehicle moves no more than 20 mph and we have to pull over and turn off the vehicle for 30 or more minutes. when we start the vehicle again, the vehicle starts again without issue. we also have the low tire signal go on regardless of whether tires are inflated.

Traveling east on hy89 at approx 08:30 with cc set at 70. on 6% uphill grade rpm dropped to 2300 and speed to about 35, pressed acceler and fuel shut off. car has auto trans with cvt trans. fiddled with gear shift and acceleration resumed. on the way back had same experience but when rpm started to drop, turned off cc and operation was normal. no problems with smaller hills. made same trip several times prior with rpm around 3500 and speed about 60 in same spots.

I go to start my 2014 patriot and when i move it and step on my brake pedal when its cold, the brakes squeal. i haven't had any problems other than that so far, and it now has about 1,600 miles on it.

I work for the federal government and this incident occurred with one of our shared fleet vehicles. on 5/11/15, i was driving a 2014 jeep patriot from pittsburgh, pa to erie, pa on interstate 79 north. approximately 1 1/2 hours into the trip, i was traveling at approximately 65 mph in the left lane and attempting to pass another car. i noticed that my vehicle was quickly losing power. i was unable to pull off the road on the left due to an embankment. after several cars and tractor trailers had to brake and swerve to pass me on the right, i was able to steer the car into the right lane and off the side of the road just before it stopped completely. i was not able to restart the vehicle and called for a tow.

On several occasions i notice that when i go start my jeep it the engine has a bit of hesitation starting, when it starts it like thump. also while drive my vehicle seem to increase an at time decrease on its own. today i did a search on recalls and found one safety recall n52. i contacted chrysler to inquire about the recall and was told there were no recalls for my jeep. i explained that nhtsa had the recall information on their web site, and was informed that it is not the nhtsa who puts recalls. recalls are vin specific. i'm a little baffle by the woman at chrysler's comment, due to the fact that she has no idea of what is happening with my vehicle. i thank the woman and stated that i honestly hope the information given is correct and that i am safe on the roads. personally i don't trust the manufactures due to having past recalls on vehicles and recieving no notification. my question to nhtsa is regarding recall n52 is this a vin specific recall or is this a recall for 2014 jeep patriot owners. i also notice the issue another person had with the rear brake squealing.

I rented a 2014 jeep patriot from one of the rental car companies on feb 17 2015 and used it for about five days before the following incident happened. on feb 22 , i was driving the car on i-5 going south. i made an exit after driving for about 2 hours on the freeway to refuel which i did. it was bright sunny day the time was around noon. i moved away from the gas pump and wanted to park it behind the gas station. i found a space between two cars and as i was slowly moving towards the parking space the car accelerated at an incredible speed, broke into a fence of a private residence, then hit a play house (for children) and landed in the swimming pool. because of my ignorance about such incidences whereby cars self-accelerate, i thought i might have accidentally stepped on the gas and when the police arrived at the scene and asked me what happened, i said, "may be i stepped on the gas". upon discussing this matter with friends and checking on the internet, i discovered that cars accelerated on their own from time to time. i have no doubt in my mind now that the jeep patriot just did that. i have over 40 years of driving experience and i don't remember a single instance when i stepped on the gas pedal while trying to bring a car to a stop. the rental car company said that they had the car inspected and sent me a letter they received from the manufacturer stating they did not find any malfunction problem. the car was immersed in the pool about half way and i am not even sure how the inspection can yield a reliable result for a car pulled out of a swimming pool. *tr

Rear drum brakes squeal when backing up and sometimes when applying brakes while driving forward. i took the vehicle to firestone and they said it might be due top dust build up in the drum. they cleaned and inspected the rear drums and said they were in good shape. within an hour or so the squealing continued. a few days later i took the vehicle to the jeep chrysler dealership. they inspected the rear drum brakes and could not find anything wrong with them. nothing needed to be replaced or fixed. i was told by the jeep service department that drum brakes squealing/squeaking is normal. i am having a hard time accepting this answer. i can't believe jeep would produce a car with brakes where squealing/squeaking is normal!! a few months later i called jeep service again and the service tech told me they got a lot of the same complaints and jeep corporate is aware of the issue. i was not told of any plans they have to fix the issue. *tr

On november 1, 2014 i purchased a new jeep patriot from a chrysler/jeep dealership. shortly after that i noticed that the owner's information (a dvd of the owner's manual and u.s. warranty) and the user guide (an abridged version of the owner's manual) did not match my vehicle in many ways. also at that time i noticed that my 2014 jeep patriot did look exactly like the 2015 patriots being sold, and matched the 2015 patriot owner's information. apparently chrysler/jeep started manufacturing 2015 patriots, but titling them and selling them as 2014 patriots, long before the published model year changeover date of the first week of auguat, 2014. however the owner's manual, user guide and warranty information were not revised, even down to the older patriot model cover page pictures! when i contacted the dealership and chrysler/jeep about the issues they said that they deemed the vehicle to be a 2014 because it was manufactured before august and that the differences in the owner's manual and user guide were not significant. i went through the 2014 and 2015 owner's manuals, comparing them page-by-page and compiled three pages of omissions and inaccuracies, some safety related, in the unrevised 2014 owner's manual and user guide. those differences included 12 missing warning! blocks and six missing caution! blocks in the unrevised 2014 owner's manual and user guide. warnings! are "against procedures that could result in a collision or bodily injury". cautions! are "against procedures that could result in damage to your vehicle...observe all warnings and cautions." the 2014 jeep warranty information booklet does not contain the notice that california emission standards now apply in 11 other states in addition to california. the 2015 warranty information booklet does contain that notice as a supplement. revisions, supplements, or retitling are needed. *tr

I had just exited the highway when i saw sparks from the tail end of my jeep. i thought someone had thrown out a cigarette, but then i saw more sparks fly. i pulled over immediately into a gas station. i turned off the car, which had started to smoke from under the hood. within a few minutes the whole hood was engulfed in smoke and it was coming in to the inside of the jeep through the air vents. i called my brother for help. when he got there was still smoke, but he looked through the grill of the jeep and that's when he saw flames. i immediately called 911 and within minutes the firefighters were there and hosed down under the hood. i have had the jeep sitting in a shop lot waiting for chrysler to help me, but it has been 2 weeks and i am still without a car and no answers. *tr

Brakes make a loud screeching sound and is difficult to stop sometimes. problems get bad when raining. i returned car to dealership and was told dust was on brakes and the noise should stop this has not happened the noise is still occurring. *tr

I have a 2014 jeep patriot that i purchased in dec 2013. i keep experiencing the transmission overheating that lots of other people are complaining about. it happened last year a couple times where the light came on and i had to pull over to the side of the road and let it cool down. it lost all power and i couldn't do anything. i took it to the dealer and they said everything was fine, not to worry about it. it was around 100 degrees and i had been driving to the beach(4hr drive or so) so i took it as that, maybe it did just get to hot. it never happened after that last year, but i never really went on any more trips. yesterday, on the way home from work, going to down a major interstate during rush hour traffic, my "transmission temp light" came on and i lost all power pretty much and had to get to the side of the road before i impaired traffic. it wasn't even 80 degrees outside and this happened already. this needs to be addressed asap as this could be extremely dangerous. *tr

I bought the vehicle new from a dealership on 11/01/14. on 11/28/14 i wanted to drive it but it would not shift out of park into any gear. i called roadside assistance and they towed it back to the dealership. the dealership said they checked the gearshift and it shifted every time for them. they told me to pick up the vehicle, which i did. the same problem happened a second time on 01/02/15. it was again towed back to the dealership. this time the dealership technicians also could not shift the vehicle out of park. they serviced the vehicle for seven days. they called me and said they replaced a so-called interlock cable and the transmission shifter because the cable had a 'kink' and it was causing "binding". they said the vehicle was fixed and for me to pick it up, which i did. the "mileage out" was 231. since then and up until today, 02/27/15, i have only driven it an additional 57 miles and that includes the 15 miles driven back from the dealership. i only drive it very short distances and park it in an open space that is easily accessible to a tow truck in case the problem happens again. my wife is reluctant to drive it and i don't blame her. i am concerned that the 'kinked' cable was not a random 'fluke' but, rather, that it may have been caused by the towing process with the transmission locked in park and the wheels being dragged along the ground and onto the flatbed tow truck body. i fear that the root cause of the problem remains with the automatic transmission. *tr

Upon backing out of my driveway, i noticed a vibration and related noise coming from behind the firewall of my jeep; however, after placing the vehicle in neutral while shifting from reverse to drive the noise went away. upon placing the vehicle in drive and accelerating to 5-10 miles an hour the vibration and noise, which i can only describe as a idling motorcycle returns. if the jeep is traveling at a speed under 20 mph or sitting in drive at a stop light or stop sign this issue is present. within about a week of this happening, the jeep had issues starting. once the key was placed in the ignition and an attempt to start the care was made, the engine had difficulty starting. it would engine would turnover several times before it would finally start. i can only describe it as the same experience an individual would experience when starting a car after replacing the carburetor. when this occurs the jeep will stall without aby explanation. of course, when it has been taken to the dealership, they are unable to recreate the problem and explain that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. *tr

I purchased a 0 miles, new 2013 jeep patriot off the lot. after 4 months, the transmission was making a loud noise. i took it to the dealer and they said it was too dangerous to drive home. they kept it 6 weeks and put in a new transmission. two months later, the arm that connects the steering to the front wheels broke off when i was driving. i was going slow, as i was close to home, so luckily i was not hurt. it had to be towed back to the dealer. in between these two incidents i was pulled for speeding. i have never had a speeding ticket in 20 years of driving. i had the car tested and the speedometer was reading 8 miles slower than it was actually driving. i refused to take the jeep home. the dealer did not want to negotiate but i was scared to drive it. we agree on me taking a 2014 model and they raised my payment by almost $70. a month. 7 months after taking home the 2014 model, the car started making a loud noise. i returned to the dealer and they said the transmission was almost gone and it was too dangerous to drive. they kept the car 8 weeks to repair the transmission. it has just been returned to me. i am worried about the safety of my family when they are in the car. *tr

I have had my 2014 jeep patriot in to be serviced 2 times and they tell me nothing is wrong but the passenger defogger does not work well and there is always fog on the side of the front window and the front of the side passenger window causing poor visibility. this is basically when it is cold outside and i need the defrosteven after the car warms up this is still a problem in cold weather. is anyone else complaining of this i wonder. i love my jeep. this was purchased new so i do not feel it should have any problems. *tr

While driving my car, i slowed down to turn into a parking lot..as i was turning, the car cut off..there was no warning or noises. just dead..i was able to restart it with no problems. .later that day i was pulling out of a parking spot and it cut off again. it is still covered under the warranty so i took it to the dealership. after a full day they told me that they can't duplicate my problem and no service lights were on so they gave me my car back. told to wait till a light comes on. i have given it 1 week with it cutting off several times. and yet no engine light is on..i am so scared to drive my car especially after someone almost hit me when it stalled. lastly, while driving my car, i was turning at a major intersection and it stalled again in the middle of the street. next up, dealership tomorrow morning. *tr

I was driving my jeep on the thruway and it seemed to sound really loud, like a motorcycle, the jeep was not running right, could not accelerate normally, and i could smell a funny smell. after a while the noise started to drop, but it was still noticeably louder than before. i was not sure what was going on and i told my dad about it after i got home. he went outside to check it out and noticed the exhaust system had flipped and the tail pipe was lodged up in the bumper, the plastic was melted, a hole was burnt in the bumber, and part of the frame was melted too. we called the dealership to get it fixed since the vehicle is still under warranty (before the first oil change) but they refused claiming that the car was hit, although no sign of impact can be found. we called chrysler and after a few months of going back to the dealers to have pictures taken and discussions they refused to fix the jeep too. i know, this is an issue on the patriot especially since i found a few identical complaints (something about tolerance stack up resulting in a shorted exhaust system), and since it is so close to the gas tank, i am very lucky the vehicle did not catch on fire before resetting the exhaust system into position. i am not sure what to do next! i am 100% sure i should not be responsible for this repair. *tr

We were driving north and came upon an intersection where we put our turn signal on, and slowed down and stopped, about to turn west. the light turned red, and we slowly drove west onto the crossing street. another vehicle that was driving south proceeded through the red light, at about 45 mph, and hit the 2014 jeep patriot broadside, passenger side. the jeep was pushed and spun 90 degrees from the impact of the collision, we were tossed around violently in our seats, with the passenger obtaining contusions and abrasions to her arm closest to the impact site. she had also banged her head against the window and strained her neck from the impact, on the passengers side of the jeep. and finally, had strained the muscles in her lower back from getting thrust at the direction of the impact site. the driver had suffered an impact abrasion to his left arm, leaving an imprint of the seat belt material into his skin. he had also suffered muscle strains and lower back strains from the force of the impact. again, while being hit from a vehicle going 45 mph, and leaving damage that had literally started to fold the vehicle at the midpoint, and collapsed the wheel and axle, not a single airbag had deployed in this vehicle. if the vehicle that had collided with this jeep had been driving near 65 mph, death would have been almost certain...updated 10/06/14 *bf updated 3/25/2015 *js

This car i purchased has manual door locks. my wife has great difficulty unlocking the rear doors and for my mother in law it is impossible. the car was ordered so i was unaware of this problem. i believe the young, elderly, and those physically impaired would find it impossible to unlock the rear doors. personnel at the dealership agree with my assessment and i have taken it back three times and was told they could not fix it. my last visit was today and spoke to the field service manager and he said nothing could be done. i sincerely believe that not being able to open the back door is an accident waiting to happen. I am reporting this information because i would like to know if how many incidents are the same. my jeep patriot does not handle well on grooved concrete roadways. it sways, quite a lot and feels like i will lose control of the vehicle. the first incident of this was on hwy 287 north of longmont, co. unfortunately, the dealer says there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. i have never had this happen in any other vehicle i have owned in the past 30 years. i have had other incidents since the first, just yesterday. it is very hard to go anywhere that i am not familiar or when its dark, i don't know when i will encounter this type of roadway. it is quite scary.

I was driving down the road, when the vehicle shifted from drive to 4th gear without being touched.this particular vehicle has an option to manually shift through the seven gears by bumping the shifter sideways. but nothing had came in contact with the shifter when it happened. it has since this first incident, shifted into lower gears multiple times and leaving the rpms near or in red lines. the only way to get it back into normal driving is to pull the shifter up into neutral and back down into drive. it will also de-accelerate the vehicle quickly when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal and put it on the brake to shift back into normal driving. *tr

On this day while driving on 95 south to franklin mills mall from upper darby we noticed an electrical burning smell. once i was at the mall parking lot looking for a parking space my son indicates that there is smoke coming from under hood on passenger side. i put car in park in front of the j c penney store my son jumps out and attempts to open the hood. but it doesn't open. he then says get out it is on fire. we all get out and when we move safely away from car we can see fire under the car with wires hanging down to the ground. my son is a volunteer fire fighter so he ran into the store to get an extinguisher. he sprays the hood i guess in an attempt to cool car down. then again, before the fire trucks arrive, he had gone into store again to get another extinguisher. this time he gets on the ground an extinguisher toward the fire that was intensively spreading under the car. fire fighters come and eventually had to pry the hood open and smoke and flames billow out until the managed to put out fire. no warnings however i did notice that electrical burn smell once two days prior to incident. so now my insurance determine it a total loss. they paid $17,000 to my creditor but i'm stuck with a $6000 balance and no car to drive. i wonder if i can sue manufacturer in small claims court for @ $10,000 or so? *tr

I bought this vehicle brand new, with in the first week, noticed water leaking into cargo area from the dome light. took to dealer , was told it was fixed that it was leaking in around the antenna. it now leaking again, is not fixed, having to take for second time. the car has less than 2000 miles, i've only had about 2 months if that. they do not provide me with a loner vehicle, only offer to pay for a rental, which requires me to put a deposit and time off work to make it to rental company. *tr

Mfg and dealer indicate that all jeep patriots have transmission metering/sensoring system that fails and that they don't know how to fix the the defective components. they say they're not issuing a safety recall because there haven't been enough crashes or fatalities. when the transmission light goes on, the vehicle will slow down swiftly (ex 70mph to 20mph or full stop) and this impacts vehicle safety - putting safety and lives of thousands of jeep drivers at risk, along with passenger and their families. all mfg and dealer try to do is collect diagnostic testing fee for vehicle defects they're aware of and have no fix for. basically, they're willing to collect money and let people crash or die. i was last affected on may 31, 2014 and was left stranded on the i-10 in az at 115 degrees in the desert. i have to steer off highway to avoid trucks crashing into me. i suffered heat exhaustion and can't drive the vehicle anymore due to safety, stress, and anxiety. jim click dealership and their mfg customer care mgr still try to collect money for diagnostic testing, but fully acknowledge that this is a known issue with no fix. i've demanded that they recall this vehicle, but they refuse. jim click service mgr david sagers indicates that the mfg is "toying" with a senario where they lower the transmission fluid levels in these jeeps, but that they don't really think that will be a fix. he says other models are also affected. please issue a safety recall and if there is no fix, please help get me into a new vehicle. previously, i was stranded for another recall issue - the actuator flow control valve 36016 and the tech found code p2017 and a faulty intake manifold valve sensor. this jeep is a death trap. *js

Was traveling on the highway at approximately 45 mph, glanced at the passenger side mirror and noticed grey smoke coming from the back of the vehicle within a few seconds the "check engine" light came on. i stopped at a traffic light before a safe pull over spot was available. once light changed to green, vehicle would barley move even with increased throttle pressure. got the vehicle to a safe spot off the highway. noticed a lot of transmission fluid flowing from under the vehicle. had to have vehicle towed to dealer.

Driving in rain, went through standing water on road. abs brake light went on and stayed on. brake assist no longer works. dealer has had vehicle for two weeks now trying to figure out what is wrong. *tr

Got in the vehicle - started it up - heard a funny (well, not really funny) noise and watched a crack appear (and grow right in front of my eyes) in the lower right side of the windshield. did some searching on the internet and found other people having the same problem. this was not caused by a rock or foreign object - it happened right in front of my eyes. this could have been a real problem if it had happened while driving.

Was driving with a total of 4 people in jeep when it started to shake really bad at 40 miles mph i thought i had a flat tire,when i looked tires were ok, when i started driving again it started to shake again, so i turned jeep around and headed back home called for a tow to get jeep to dealer. they just checked lugs on tires took on a test drive and said it was ok. they could not answer why it shook and told me to take it to where i bought jeep from. i took jeep to dealer on 12-6 2013 they said what do i think should be done to figure out why it shook. im not a mechanic so what could i say, they just said to leave it with them and they would try to find out why it happened. *tr

I was driving around a corner which i drive around at least 2 times a day, midway thru the turn my steering wheel locked up and would not let me turn it ... it just jammed up in the middle of the turn... i braked and watched as i went straight into a guardrail .. unable to do a thing about the situation except brace myself . *tr

On well traveled mining roads in 4wd, when one tire slips, the vehicle would not even pull its own weight and the engine would not rev over 2,000 rpm. i back up, put the vehicle in 4x4 low and if any wheel slips, it would stop at 2,000 rpm again. all i can do is back down a dangerous road and try to find a spot where i can turn around. this has happened multiple times, been to 2 dealers in 2 states 4 times. the vehicle stranded me on several occasions doing the same thing in dangerous area with cliffs or steep drop offs to rivers and rock out crops on one side. chrysler hq said they will not work on my vehicle anymore and that the truck is performing as designed! designed to strand someone on a well traveled mining road the other pickups can get to without 4x4? i bought this 4x4 with the off road trail rated package because that's what the selling dealer said i needed for mining. it has not been off road. i can't even get to where i work and this vehicle has even failed on very small hills with dealership personnel in the vehicle. another dealer test drove it, failed and wouldn't go over 2,300 rpm. they said they didn't know what to do. they duplicated the problem in 4x4 drive, 4x4 low, with and without traction control. when this happens, the vehicle will not pull its own weight and no wheels are even spinning. very dangerous design and can't even get to my job! when i have to back down because it will not go forward i have to make sure it's a place perpendicular to the slope of the incline or you are stuck diagonal to the road and the vehicle will not go forward and there is no more room to back up without going off a cliff, falling into a river or sliding into a canyon. *tr

I purchased this 2014 patriot four weeks ago with, i have not even made a first payment. yesterday while driving in a parking lot my jeep lost all power. i was shifted into drive and would hit the gas pedal and nothing would happen. there was absolutely no warning that is was going to stall, no indicator lights ever turned on. i placed the jeep in park and turned off the ignition. turned it back on, it was not immediate there was some lag on the start and was able to drive it again. i took it to my local dealership today to be inspected after a few hours they told me they could find nothing wrong and sent me on my way. i have investigated further and found that the 2011/2012 models have been investigated for this same problem in the past. this is a terrifying and dangerous occurrence that must be resolved. i am now fearful that this will reoccur in much more congested or high speed conditions. *tr

Brake failure and car accelerates during periods of brake failure. a week after taking delivery of this new car with around 470 miles on the ode meter, it was noticed that during periods of gentle braking, the brakes appeared to fail and the car would accelerated during the short periods the brakes would fail. the first occurrence was noticed at around 30 mph in steady urban traffic. the brakes appeared to fail again about 10 min later in similar traffic. during these 2 failures the brakes appeared to fail for around a quarter of a second. about 1/2 an hour later, in steady freeway traffic of 55 to 60 mph at around 3.30 pm, gentle braking was needed and the brakes failed and the car accelerated for about a period of one to one and a half seconds. i was very close to ramming the car in front. during the periods of failure, the brake pedal remains firm and solid, it is as if the brakes are electronically switched off and then electronically switched on again. during the periods of failures, the application of additional pressure on the brake pedal does not stop the car accelerating. the faster the speed, the longer the period that the brakes appear to fail. it was a pretty scary experience. the bottom line is, when you apply the brakes in any car, the driver needs to have the confidence that the car will slow down and stop safely, the last thing a car should do, is accelerate when the brake pedal is pressed, it totally destroys the safe braking 3 second rule. the manufacture has determined that the transmission software is the problem and it could take up to a year to rewrite the software. this, in my opinion, is totally unacceptable and all 2014 jeep patriot and compass with 6 speed automatic transmissions should be take off the road. nhtsa are welcome to a test drive, these brake failure/acceleration issues occur every time the car is driven. *tr
