Vehicle began overheating while our family were driving home just out of the blue – all of a sudden lights began sounding off

In warm weather my drivers side power door will not latch- the motor keeps cycling. also, when i hit a bump the car will chime, interior lights come on and the open door light will engage ad if the door is open. this has been happening for approximately 4 years and i cannot find a solution. it is only an issue a warm weather (above 70 degrees). chrylser has not been able to fix the issue. i conducted an internet aearch and it appears that i am not the only owner with this problem.

While driving, the vehicle temperature jumped into the red. we pulled over immediately and found oil and coolant sprayed on the engine compartment. further inspection showed oil in the radiator mixed with the coolant. the oil cooler failed and oil was being pushed into the coolant system, which caused the overheating. we were just getting up to speed when the incident occurred. we had the vehicle towed to a dealership to be repaired. the oil cooler part inquiry showed 40,000 on back order because the failure occurrence is so high.

Van shuts off while driving at different times with no pattern. no instrument panel warnings shown. also will stall at times while idling.

I am having a cylinder 2 misfire with 90k miles on vehicle. vehicle is clearly missing at idle with heavy shaking and strong odor of exhaust fumes. i have replaced spark plugs and new ignition coils with no changes. i have also replaced the oil filter housing that had a severe leak before this problem.

The engine in my chrysler town & country minivan, 3,6l engine, developed a serious "miss" causing power loss and violent vibration when trying to accelerate. it has been determined to be a missfire in cylinder #2. by testing, it is determined to be a faulty designed left cylinder head. chrysler has extended the warranty for this problem on all 2011 to 2013 vehicles with the 3.6l engine, but not my 2014 (yet). help, please.

The driver side headrest deployed without collision or being involved in an accident. it was deployed one day when i got in the car. it is now detached and cannot be put back on. plastic parts inside the headrest seem to have broken. it feels unsafe to drive with exposed metal parts behind my head.

Going 65mph on major highway went off road taking out multiple big concrete in ground signs. then went on 2wheels slammed back down in a down hill median. no airbags was deployed. town & country total loss. entire front end damaged and back passenger axel & windshield huge cinder block type holes with shards of glass everywhere even in our ears! no air bag deployed or attempted. i had almost half tank gas now empty light is on.

I bought a 2014 town and country from moran buick dealership in september 2020 by february 2021 i had to replace components in my drivers side window twice due to failure and the window falling in my door. also noticed a huge oil spot on driveway went to have it checked out and was toild my oil filter housing cracked and it on back order over 4 month. looking online this is a huge issue. how can i feel safe driving my family in this vehicle with oil leaking out constantly.

The sliding door on the driver's slide does not fully close. it leaves a gap at the rear of the door. i have to manually push the door to get it to latch. i have started driving not realizing the door is not fully closed. in online forums i hear that many others are experiencing a similar issue with this make/model car.

I noticed some type of oil leaking under my vehicle. i took it to the local chrysler dealership and was told that the oil filter housing needed replaced. they said it would cost around $1,000, but that there was no eta on when they would have that part in stock. i called a small auto mechanic shop to see if they could give me a competitive price, but they aren't able to find the part available through any third party vendors. my vehicle has been sitting at the chrysler dealership for over 2 weeks waiting for them to let me know when the part will be available. the diagnostic fee is $135 and will only go towards the price of the repairs if those happen within 30 days, so to keep from wasting money and having major issues arise from this leak i haven't picked up my vehicle and we are playing leap frog with my husband's small car.

Leaking oil so i took it in and mechanic says the oil filter housing is cracked and needs to be replaced. apparently it’s pretty common among these vehicles and he’s having a hard time getting the part to fix it. it’s on back order.

Oil filter housing leaking. part on back order because this is so common. could lead to potential fire as to why this is a safety hazard.

The oil pump coolant line and housing needs to be replaced - costing about $1k for parts and labor. the van only has 115k miles and has been well-maintained. i heard from both the auto repair shop and the dealer that this is a known issue among many other vans and that the parts are on backorder for 2 months (about 15k needed). it's not just me having this issue but thousands. a recall should be in effect.

Noticed engine oil leaking (unknown when it started). initially though it may have been oil spilled when changing oil. it turns out the oil is leaking form filter housing (also includes engine oil cooler). engine needs expensive repair to fix due to plastic parts. part is not available to purchase (back order). oil leaks is heavy, unsure if it may pose a fire hazard.

The radio has stopped working. the screen will sometimes come on to all white then go off again and other times the chrysler symbol will show then go off after a few minute. no sound, no back up camera, nothing . been doing this for 3 days.

Had my oil changed and tuned up last month roughly 3 days later i noticed oil on my drive. brought it to a friend and sat for 30 min and a puddle of oil showed up in his garage floor. we checked the oil level and found oil all over the motor. i took it back to where i had my work done and was told the leak was coming from under the oil filter housing assembly and there are 2000 on back order. which makes me think there is a problem your aware of and how do i get it fixed.

I noticed oil under my vehicle. i crawled underneath the vehicle and noticed oil was coating all visible parts of motor. upon further inspection the oil filter housing assembly has developed a crack in it. this is a plastic piece that is affixed to the engine (heat and plastic do not mix). this has caused oil to leak onto the motor (at approximately 1 quart per 3000 miles driven). this has the potential to cause a fire in the engine bay at any time.

My brake booster went out for no reason. i was driving on the highway when my brakes started hissing air and vibrating, almost couldn't stop. i have a 2014 chrysler town and country. this part should last for 10 years!! there is a recall for the dodge durango and jeep cherokee. why is there not one for chrysler? this is costing me $600.00! not happy with chrysler.

The tipm malfunctioned and it caused excessive shaking the dealership ignored our calls and the problem escalated. the tire pressure system caused a blowout and the car would accelerate when i hit the brakes. we had taken it in previously for the shaking and they never told us what caused it. took it to another repair shop & they told us when the tipm malfunctions the problems with the car emulate what the computer says is wrong. chrysler knew this but they were trying to get is to pay money for repairs they know would not fix our car and then they sent the police out to our house to get their loaner car even though they had the auto claim number and direct billing from our insurance company. one of my neighbors parked on the street and as i was making the turn the car sped up on its own and caused me to hit their car

2014 chrysler town and country - 70,000 miles electronics started malfunctioning while driving shutting off all inside cabin electronics including panel, radio, a/c and turning on windshield wipers. at first it did not malfunction every time but now it doesn’t run 1 minute without malfunctioning. sometimes my brake, head and signal lights will not work and the complete panel and gages will not go back up including gas, speed rpm etc. until i shut down the car and wait a few minutes to turn it back on making it completely unsafe. i brought it to the local dealer and as expected, and mentioned by others online, they said they have never heard of anything like it. they stated that my car has 9 different computers and that they are reading malfunctions on all of them and decided to reset the module that controls all of the interior electronics. $100.00+ nothing changed apart from the fact that it is now happening more frequently. i refuse to get into the path of spending thousands of dollars on this repair just on the guessing game of replacing part after part without positive results. please help!

Windshield wipers will not come on in rain as designed. when operated manually they only work in very slow mode. this issue occurs both in motion and when stationary. no warning or code from the cars dash.

While we were driving the car stopped in the middle of the road. while on drive! we were on canal and 19 mile road with my husband and 4 kids and the car. the car was driving and it just stopped literally.

Rear ac evaporator made out of aluminum and exposed to elements by placement has corroded and there is now a leak. this seems to be a reoccurring problem in this vehicle, yet still made year after year the same way. this is also a costly repair, costing between $1500 - $2000 because the frame needs to be removed to repair in most cases. not to mention the negative effects this is having on the atmosphere by leaking these chemicals. (there is a lot of research behind this). my vehicle, now only 3 years old is useless because of the safety concern of allowing my children to ride in a car during 90 degree weather without any cool air. it is a hot box inside. even with the windows down, you can not ride in the car for more than 20 minutes at a time without being severely overheated.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chrysler town and country. while driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission failed to change gear while in drive. the contact coasted to the side of the road, waited for a while, and was able to change gears and resume driving. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to anderson chrysler dealer (located on 5711 e state st rockford il, 61108), but was not repaired. the contact was informed that they were no longer equipped to handle the failure and that the information would be sent to chrysler engineers. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, the contact stated that the transmission was rebuilt, and the sensor and transmission pump were replaced; however, the failure recurred. the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that nothing else could be done. the approximate failure mileage was 31,000.

I am writing today regarding what appears to be a very serious safety concern regarding my 2014 chrysler town & country. last monday (may 15, 2017) i was driving and realized that none of the steering wheel controls on my vehicle were working. it became scarily apparent when i went to honk my horn and nothing happened. the condition also affected all the other controls on the steering wheel, including the driver information center that provides me information on all the vital statistics of the vehicle. i use this information daily to verify that my vehicle is well maintained and functioning properly. without it, i do not know if there are concerns about my vehicle’s road worthiness. lacking just these two items (not to mention losing the other controls on the steering wheel) caused me serious concern about the safety of my vehicle. the cause of the problem was not the horn. rather, i was told, the horn is wired through the cruise control switch and that switch had failed. after agreeing to have that repair done, i waited for the work to be completed so i could safely drive my vehicle again. but that was not the case. a couple hours later, i received another call from the dealership stating that it wasn’t the cruise control switch, but rather, i was told, the failure was due to a clock spring that fed power to the cruise control switch that provided power to activate the horn and all the other controls that are not working on the steering wheel. and by the way, the manufacturer will not cover any of the costs of this safety repair. this sounded strange to me. how could something as important and simple as a horn be so complex and convoluted? why would an automobile manufacturer design such a simple and important safety feature in such a way that even their own technicians cannot accurately determine a diagnosis on their initial in-depth evaluation?

The headrest deployed while parked in my driveway overnight. its apparent it was defective. i can see broken pieces inside. chrysler refuses to even look at the car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chrysler town and country. the contact stated that the wires, wiring harness, and the electronic functions shorted out when the front seats were moved back and forth. the failure of the wires being impacted prevented the seat from moving. in addition, front air bag warning indicators illuminated. the dealer replaced the wires, wiring harness, and additional components four times, but the failure recurred. the contact was unable to move the front driver and passenger seats. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer (steve white motors inc, 3470 us hwy 70 se, newton, nc 28658, (828) 324-4410) for an appointment to repair the failure and to replace the parts a fifth time. the manufacturer provided no solution and mentioned that the vehicle should be taken back to the dealer for another repair. in addition, the transmission failed and was replaced. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

Blind spot sensors on both sides are not working. i have not heard of any recalls for this problem. i've had them in for service several times. passenger side sensor was replaced once and drivers side twice but problems keep reoccuring. indicator on dash reads service blind spot sensor.

Tl* the contact owned a 2014 chrysler town and country. while the contact's vehicle was stopped, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. as a result, the front driver seat twisted towards the window, fell backwards, and fractured. a police report was filed. the contact sustained whiplash, a concussion, and nerve damage to the left shoulder and face that required medical attention. the front seat passenger sustained whiplash that required medical attention. the vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 75,000.

Driving the van down a street and most of the electrical systems failed. wipers went to full speed, every check light came on. no steering, radio died, brakes did work because they are not electrical. shut it down and restarted. took it to falls motor city who did not find any faults. said they never heard of such a thing. basic conclusion i was nuts. took the car back...then it happened again total of 4 times in 3 months

Multiple occasions the van accelerated on its own with brakes applied, over accelerated, and went in reverse while in drive. it has failed to accelerate while stationary and while in motion. it lost power while doing 55 on the highway, and also multiple times while on city streets. it has been in for repair three times and is still being repaired. attached are invoices from the first two repairs.

While driving the car it will stop in motion in the middle of traffic on a city street and all the power to the entire car will go out including all flashers and airbag systems. this has occurred on multiple occasions while driving our vehicle. the fault is unknown we brought the car in to a chrysler dealer a week prior to explain the problem and they ran tests and said nothing was wrong this now happens on a daily basis. we have three children 5 and under that have been riding in this car while this has happened and we are all put in great danger.

Gas was pouring out of the flue line line down over the gas tank onto the freeway while driving emptying out the gas tank. did not know the extent of the seriousness of the problem until roadside assistance was called. it was then that i was informed that the vehicle had to get clearance that the vehicle was safe to tow. because of the nature of the problem i realized the vehicle could have caught afire while driving causing body injuries to all that were in the vehicle while driving. have no pictures at present to upload since the vehicle is in the shop for repairs. hopefully, i can obtain picture(s) to submit at a later date.

Had van at dealership 5 times for having to crank to start, rough running engine & loss of power. crank sensor was replaced twice due to wiring harness being out of place, broken open on bottom & had corroded wires. wires fixed & harness secured. had same problems 2 weeks later. some wiring fixed & pcm replaced. just over 1 month later i was driving 75mph on expressway after having just passed a semi-truck when i felt a sudden "give" and my van began to decelerate rapidly. i pushed on the accelorator but there was no power or response. the engine was still running and no warning lights showed on the dash. i knew the power steering would be affected too (based on this previously happening at about 15 mph) and was luckily able to get pulled over on the side of the expressway. turned van off & restarted. it seemed fine so i got off the expressway at the exit ramp that was in sight and took a secondary road back to the dealership. they had my van for a week and weren't getting any codes on their diagnostic tool and couldn't duplicate the power loss. i had to take my van back because the loaner vehicle authorized by chrysler customer care had to be given back since they couldn't find a problem with my van! if the power loss i experienced at 75mph had happened while i was driving in heavy traffic i would've been in a serious accident. since i was lucky enough to have not been in traffic i only have a dealership invoice to verify my complaint.

Driver side sliding door motor begins to operate on its own while the vehicle is on or off. the vehicle has now been at a dealer 3 times for repair without any success. this time it also has caused complete failure of several battery cells causing the vehicle to be hazardous to driving as the vehicle does still start and drive, however, there are times it does shut off due tot he battery issue.

Engine stalls randomly, while in motion, highway, city, country. vehicle just stops running making it difficult to control steering, stopping. nearly caused an accident several times, due to the vehicle behind nearly crashing into ours, and the vehicle must be pulled off the road while abruptly decelerating which is dangerous when you must cross several lanes of traffic, as the vehicle cannot be restarted while moving. vehicle has 56k miles. this problem has been happening for several months. vehicle must be put into park to restart requiring the vehicle to be pulled off the roadway. the vehicle often does not restart immediately. after taking it to the dealer, they duplicated and verified the stalling issue and suggested to replace the win module, which we agreed to have them do, because we believe it is a extremely important safety concern. price $700. it looks like there was an earlier recall for the exact same problem on the 2008 to 2010 model. we feel this is a major safety issue. many times we have children in the car. these incidents cause all passengers to be distressed. problems started in dec 2016 and was infrequent at first but became very frequent in february and march. checked by a local shop in february. they suggested taking it to the dealer.

The second row passenger seat belts did not lock in a severe front crash resulting in severe injuries to the two passengers seated there. the right passenger hit the rear of the front passenger seat resulting in broken sternum, ribs and some internal injuries. the left passenger slid forward and received shin damage cracked sternum and severe whiplash. we were hit by a sideways sliding trailblazer that had lost control on a two lane mountain road. we were traveling approximately 30mph( our car eastbound) and the sideways sliding car(westbound) hit us at approximately 50+ mph...updated 03/01/17 *bf

My 2014 t&c will shut down when driving. the power steering and all electrical goes out. this happens most frequently when i'm slowing down for a turn, leaving me in a very dangerous situation. it has happened several times without warning in both city driving as well as turning into my driveway in a subdivision. it happened once right after we bought the van in 2015, but has begun to get more and more frequent. the date i'm putting as the date of the incident is the most recent.

Engine shuts off while driving. feb-8, 2017 was fourth time this occurred in last 4 months. has happened while stopped at a light, turning left into an intersection, and driving 35mph straight on a city street. weather has been both warm and cold, van has been well warmed up or recently-started; there doesn't seem to be a noticeable pattern. the behavior is similar to what it would be if the key fob was turned from on to acc -- e.g. the radio is still playing but the engine shuts off. all power to brakes and steering is lost; i don't know if the airbags are still functioning at this point. in all four cases, the car was easily re-started by first turning the key fob to off, then started again. this is obviously a major safety issue as it can occur seemingly at any time, without notice.

Tire pressure senser reads a false low tire. tires inspected my mechanic and none of the tires are actually low. tire pressure senser stays on every engine start and does not go away

On two occasions during the last month the engine had just died while driving. it happens around 30mph and decelerating. battery was working because radio stayed on, but lost all other operating functions including automatic steering.

At 50,000 miles the transmission valve went out - causing the van to stall while driving. it was replaced. again after another 50,000 miles this transmission valve is going out and the vehicle is again stalling while driving.

My vehicle has a ticking problem (lifter) for over 8 months. i need to get it fixed and no one works on the engine. only the dealer. secondly, my engine light comes on for the thermostat gauge.

On 1/17/21, the van engine stalled while i was driving on a freeway. this caused loss of power steering and power brakes. i coasted to stop on side of road, waited a bit, and restarted the van. it drove for aout 3 miles when the same thing happened. problem appears intermittent since it hasn't happened when i brielfy drove the car on 1/18 and 1/19. dealer is saying they can't find anything wrong with car (took car in to dealer on 1/20)

I have a town and country 2014. while my husband was driving our mini van on the highway and i was in the passenger seat. the head rest on the passenger side seat deployed and slammed into the back of my head twice for no reason. we took it to the dealership and it was way too expensive for us to pay for out of pocket because it was not covered in our warranty. then just a few days ago when i was driving and come to a stop the drivers side had slammed into the back of my head again! why would these deploy for no reason what so ever. this is a huge safety risk. they cannot be reset because the same piece that broke on the passenger side broke on the driver side. please tell me what are the chance ?? this is needs to be addressed and the faulty head reset needs to be recalled.*dt consumer did not contact the manufacturer.*jb

We had to replace the oil filter adapter in our van because it was leaking. our mechanic said he is fixing a lot of these in vans similar to ours. when researching online, we see that large numbers of people with 2014 chrysler vans have the same issue. some even reported their vehicles catching fire as a result of the issue. it cost over $600 for us to have it repaired.

Driver seat active head restraint deployed when not in a collision. the car was off and we were loading kids in the car. can’t get it to go back together.

Vehicle had leaking plastic oil filter housing at 110k miles. after review online, noticed this is a very common design issue all over the 3.6 pentastar v6. then at 127k, i have now been informed after engine started ticking while driving that timing chain, camshaft etc have failed and engine must be rebuilt and or replaced entirely. i have owned many vehicles and never had one with an engine failure at this low mileage. small fixes, of course but total catastrophic engine part failure at 127k? chrysler should be ashamed of this poorly designed engine. they know this engine has problems as they extended engine warranties for 2011-2013 models but i feel like they leave their customers with newer engines high and dry. i will never buy another fca product again as long as i live, and i am a young father with many more vehicles left to buy in my life - this was my first fca vehicle.

While parking my vehicle in my driveway and after coming to a stop, my driver side headrest (active head restraint) deployed, striking me in the back of my head. i was not injured. there was no associated vehicle nor did the vehicle strike an object. upon further examination, a plastic seating that holds the metal pin had broken. attempts to reset was unsuccessful because of the broken plastic pin seating. the attached photo shows a strap around the headrest so that the vehicle can be driven safely.

Have slipping with my transmission, had to take the van back to the shop 7 times and still nothing has been resolved and the warranty will soon run out. at which point what can be done? this will be fixed the vehicle was purchased 1 year ago and start having the issue a few months after purchase after several time in the dealer they so not want to replace transmission and said they cannot find anything wrong. *tr

Car just parked in parking spot and passenger took seatbelt off and started to pull door lever. passenger headrest airbag bursted open, knocking the passenger head forward. headrest made a loud bang. the motion and force of the headrest banged against the back of passenger head causing instant headache and whiplash.

Sliding doors have difficulty opening and closing on both sides. plastic covering breaks off every time the doors open/close, leaving exposed wires on the outside of the vehicle.

The passenger active head rest exploded forward while i was driving. i had just dropped my wife off and was headed down the road and a loud boom happened and i looked over and saw the head rest sticking forward from the rest of the piece. if my wife was still in the vehicle it would have struck her in the head.

Was driving from pa to new york on the highway and about 150 miles into the trip the headrest exploded out word and stuck me in the back of the head. causing a little confusion and a instant headache. there was nothing that could have caused this. the road was not bumpy or was there any kind of impact to the van. thank god my wife was not driving because the impact of the headrest probably would have knocked her out and caused an accident. the headrest system is supposed to be a safety device but is defective and a risk to anyone that is driving a chrysler product.

Rear passenger door will open and close normally but when it gets hot outside the door will not latch when it closes. door sounds like it is constantly trying to latch shut. this will also start happening if the vehicle goes over a bump while driving and the lights go on that the door is open. the door is trying to open and close while driving

I've listed a date below i don't recall the exact date, don't recall the exact mileage, or the exact speed everything listed herein is approximate, if it had happened all day everyday then i could've remembered, but the following has happened on multiple occasions both in winter and in summer. 1. vehicle has stopped on me while driving multiple times, doesn't otherwise seem to drive rough, it has also stalled on me while driving and i make "y" turns or am driving and stop at a stop sign. i put the van back in park, and it will start back up. it doesn't happen while the car is in park. sometimes there is a burning smell that is similar to the smell of an airplane. 2. ticking noise when i start and continues while i'm driving and increases as i accelerate. 3. heat and a/c will turn on, on its own, turns on the rear first, and then the front seats after, i can turn it off and it will repeat the process (i've actually recorded it happening). 4. left passenger door closes on its own, won't stay open, clicking noise even if it's closed. 5. interior lights and radio will flicker and go dim then bright (as if switching from night to daytime throughout the whole time i'm driving frequently happens).

My vehicle randomly shut off while driving. it happened 15 times over the past year creating extremely dangerous situations. because it was not throwing any codes, and would not replicate often, it was hard to diagnose until i developed an issue with starting the car, almost a year later. the win module was bad. i now know that earlier model year's had a recall for this exact issue. i find it curious that the bad win module would occur randomly for my model year without a collection of occurances.

Early on/about august 27, 2020 i went out to my chrysler t&c , parked overnight in my home's driveway, and discovered that the front passenger seat headrest had deployed. the vehicle had not been involved in any incidents of sudden contact with any other vehicle or object. examination of the vehicle exterior shows zero evidence of any contact with another object on any of the outside surfaces. the headrest was not deployed when i was last in the vehicle, but was deployed when i looked at it the next morning. i have not yet taken the vehicle to any repair facility and no one except me and my wife have seen the problem. i am the sole person to drive this vehicle. no other person, including my wife, drives it. .

When i was driving suddenly my van turn off

Drivers seat problem. active headrest restraint faulty the plastic retention tabs holding the metal bar in place spontaneously broke ,the metal teeth were still locked down on the bar showing it didn't deploy, just the plastic tabs broke. this caused the headrest to 'activate' and move forward. this is a safety issue. vehicle was parked in driveway. no injuries as no one in the car.

Will not crank or turnover. worked fine 9:00 pm night before. next morning it will not start.

My wife and i purchased this vehicle in february of 2016. at that time, everything was fully functional and working correctly. it wasn’t until the weather warmed up (started approximately in april of 2016) that we noticed that the driver’s side passenger door would not close properly, while stationary nor while in motion at times. this happens any time, but it particularly happens when the weather is above 75 degrees. the door has a problem latching closed completely. the door with make a jerking noise as if it’s trying to close, and it does not stop until we push forcefully on the rear of the door to catch the latch. the door indicator light also flashes on and off as the door is attempting to close completely. this also happens sometimes while driving. if there is the slightest bump, the door will start to make the noise as if it’s trying to latch. there have been times when we can see the daylight through the door because the door isn’t closed properly. this started out as a sporadic issue but it has increasingly occurred over the years. we’ve been trying to find solutions for a while now. it has been worse this year and more dangerous with being able to see the daylight/roadway while driving if it’s not closed completely. this is very unsafe for anyone. we know that we are not the only family with this vehicle that are having these issues. we joined a group thread on cargurus.com where so many others are having this issue. this should be a safety recall. i’ve contacted mopar/chrysler and the only response i received is that my vehicle is no longer under warranty and i need to pay full price to have this issue fixed. they don’t even know what the issue is.

The sliding door on the driver's side will sometimes start opening and closing, as if it is attempting to re-latch. this has happened when the car was in motion and had traveled over a bump. this has also happened when the door is closing but does not seem to be able to latch properly.

One morning before work when i started the van i noticed the battery light was illuminated. the vehicle drove fine and after work,the light was not on anymore. the van sat all weekend and when i started it up 2 days later the battery light was again illuminated. so i scheduled it to be seen at the dealership. by the time the dealership could get me in, the battery light was no longer on. the dealership ran diagnostics and could find no issues so i picked it up with no resolution. today has been a week since the dealership looked at the van, the battery light has been on solid for 3 days now and on my way to drive it back to the dealership this morning, it completely died on the side of the road and i had to have it towed the rest of the way there. the vehicle completely died while driving on a straight 35mph road. all power steering and instruments were lost and i couldnt even put the van in neutral or get the key out of the ignition. i am currently waiting to hear from the dealership as to what they found as the cause.

The rear sliding door makes a loud buzzing noise when the door locks and unlocks. i’ve been told that it is the actuator. it happens every single time the door is locked or unlocked, wether driving or stationary.

My 8 year old son leaned with his hand on the back of the driver side head rest. the head rest released shooting forward. upon trying to reset the headrest i noticed the plastic piece needed to hold the spring mount to lock it was broke thus not allowing me to reset the headrest. the car was parked and off while this happened.

On july 3, 2020 i was sitting at a red light at night when my driver side headrest deployed/exploded without any warning, my vehicle was not in motion at the time. no injuries but headrest is defective now. i would have been injured if i was resting on it at the time without a doubt.

A few weeks after getting my oil changed i was driving when the check engine light came on. i took it to auto zone and ran a diagnostic on the vehicle. the result was a code p0520 which indicates a fault in the engine oil pressure sensor/switch electrical circuit for a predetermined period of time. most likely solution is to replace the oil pressure switch.

Noticed passanger headrest had deployed one day. plastic ears that hold latch pin in place had broken. vehicle was stationary, no injuries.

At 50,700 miles and 6 months out of warranty, my flex plate cracked. the flex plate connects to the end of the crankshaft and the torque converter. if your vehicle is running when the flex plate breaks your transmission will not receive the rotational power transfer from the engine to turn you torque converter, which can cause the vehicle to become immobilized while driving. to repair the flex plate, the entire transmission must be removed which is very expensive. additionally, a cracked flex plate almost always indicates a greater problem with your engine or transmission. we also experienced problems with hesitation and/or peeling out when depressing the accelerator. the vehicle speed control was unpredictable and dangerous. this was my family car that i thought i could rely on for years. instead, i felt very unsafe driving it, and was disappointed to have such a major powertrain failure at such low mileage. chrysler refuses to acknowledge the problem, recall, and properly repair the vehicle despite multiple complaints of people losing control while driving at high speeds due to this exact problem. i decided i didn't want to be the person that died so i traded it in instead of repairing it, but i lost a lot of money in doing that. you can't put a price on your family's safety - do not buy this car.

Got in my car this morning and noticed my passenger head rest was sticking out. did some research and come to find out the head test deployed for no reason. i looked at it more and plastic inside of it broke which cause it to deploy for no reason. *tr

Van turned off and would crank but not start. happened at random times until it would not start at all. was towed for repair, we had to replace the tipm. now only a couple weeks later the van, again, will only crank but not start.

Wife was driving the car as normal when both active head restraints deployed for no reason. there was no sudden stop, no impact. one blew all the way apart, the other blew half apart, and then blew completely when she touched it to try to assess what the problem was. the cause is simple to determine. the head restraint is a metal pin retained by cheap plastic, and the plastic broke. i have the plastic chips to prove it. *tr

My van started making a clicking noise while on and was pulling a code for misfires in the engine. it turned out to be a common known condition causing metal in the oil system. i still owe $8500.00 on this van. i am a single mother of three and now will be upside down on a car that i love. i spoke to different mechanics who agreed it happens in this models engine. i believed chrysler to be top quality product and never imagined that i would be on the other end of a call telling me that my top quality car is not what i thought it was. i am extremely disappointed and have feel it needs reported so other families do not have to go through the same financial burden that i am. *tr

Suddenly experienced bad jerking above 35 mph and found out was a misfires. replaced 2 spark plugs. misfires still occurring which can now be felt while idle (jolt/hiccups and around 50-60 mph). can also hear engine ticking. common with 2011-2013 engines and 2014 engines are the same so extended warranty should be provided as well. *tr

The vehicle's entire electrical system shut down one day upon starting in my garage. it was still driveble, but there were no working electrical components. i took it to an excellent independent shop and they were unable to diagnose the problem, and said it needed to go to a chrysler service center. chrysler determined that the blind spot sensors had failed, which is a $2000 repair. we inquired as to whether the sensors could be bypassed and were told they could not. we were then told, both by the original shop and the chrysler service center, that this would happen again, most likely within the next 50k miles, due to the location of the sensors being under the bumper immediately behind the rear tires. in that spot they take the brunt of the elements kicked up by the tires, which after prolonged exposure causes them to fail. they are not able to be cleaned effectively because they are located within a cavity that cannot be reached. i then called a body shop to see whether we could add some sort of cover to the cavity to prevent the debris from hitting the sensors, and was told this was not possible. the body shop, the original shop and the chrysler service center all told me independently that this was a design flaw and a safety issue in the vehicle that existed in model years 2011-2016, and was later corrected when chrysler redesigned the town and country into the pacifica. we live on a dirt road and now have a six year old vehicle that is a ticking time bomb for this exact issue to continue to occur for as long as we own it.

When we purchased the van in 2018, the dealer told us the number 2 head was replaced and camshaft because of rocker arm ticking, now last fall i had to replace 8 rocker arms on the same head. chrysler extended the warranties on 2011 thru 2013, but the 2014 has the same exact engine. why isn't it covered under the extened warranty, i need another camshaft.

Sliding right side door opening by itself (mostly happening overnight), rear lift gate has opened by itself twice (so far), driver’s side sliding door has opened by itself once (overnight). i shut the power switch to it off, but it’s still happening. so far, that has not happened while the vehicle was on or in motion. i worry about if i’m away and it happens that someone could steal articles from my van. the engine temperature has been running high lately, with a smell of antifreeze. i had the radiator flushed and thermostat replaced, but it’s still running hot. it does this mostly when it’s idling, even in cold weather.

Power window regulator failure. i have had not one, but two power window regulators fail while rolling the windows up. the regulators shattered inside my driver and passenger front doors on separate occasions. this caused the windows to fall into the doors. i'm told i'm lucky the windows didn't shatter. this is a huge safety issue while driving and the window suddenly falls down, and an obvious security issue if your vehicle has no window.

I recently purchased this vehicle, within a few days the car completely froze, unable to start the engine, i must say the temperature was normal about 70° f. there were no check engine lights on, nothing i could do to start it up worked. i simply waited for help that never showed up. today, wed feb 26th, 20, it has happened again, the same thing, the engine wouldn't start up, i must say without any engine lights on..i waited for 45 minutes and the engine started running like normally does. i am afraid to be stranded away from the nearest repair shop, or it may happen again in the middle of the night. i would really appreciate it if you would look into this mechanical. problem. i must add, i replaced the car battery yesterday 2/25/20. please note this problem happens when i'm stationary, without the car moving, no warning lights on.

Receive obd error cylinder 4 misfire (p0304). mechanics have replaced all plugs & ignition coil on cylinder 4. cel with same error came back. rough idle at stationary position. car as 127k miles on it. chrysler extended engine warranties on 2011-2013 t&cs for this exact issue for even # cylinder head misfires. would like to see if warranty could be extended for 2014 to fix this issue.

The vehicle will shudder and lose power when accelerating. you have to basically manually shift it if on a big hill. i didn’t some research and seems to be a problem with this vehicle. some people reported the problem starting around 12000 miles

I have oil leaking from the oil filter housing/oil cooler on my 2014 chrysler town nd country with the pentastar engine. the vehicle only has 66,000 miles

I had my transmission go out while driving on a highway at a speed of 65 mph. i came on highway and it sounded like a high pitch wind up toy and then it just went out. i ended up on the side of the road for 3 1/2 hrs. i had the car towed to dealership. i was told chrysler does not allow new transmissions to go into vehicle, they only will allow rebuilt or refurbished chrysler transmission to be submitted for warranty reimbursement (per what the service person told me at dealership). 1st replacement transmission arrived with metal shavings in it from the start. 2nd transmission was put in but had issues immediately. car is in shop now 4 months later with metal shavings in it again. i am trying to get chrysler to pay for the defective transmissions that are being put into these vehicles under the warranty . these transmissions should not be replaced with defective, used, and refurbished transmission. the defective transmission should be replaced with new transmission to keep families safe. this is a severe safety hazard when transmission goes out while at highway speeds and to have these in vehicles that are being driven with families on highways at high speeds.

The passenger side sliding door lock stopped functioning trapping my child inside. we had to move the vehicle due to where it was parked as we could not exit on the driver side door. the door actuator jammed and pulling the door handle would not release the lock. after forcing the lock actuator to release the actuator still acts up and makes a buzzing sound. this appears to be a common issue on the 2014 through 2016 town and country as i've encountered hundreds of other posts about this same issue. had there been an emergency it would have been impossible to exit the vehicle on the passenger side for the rear passengers.

While the car was parked the active headrest deployed hitting the driver in the back of the head after they got in the car and were getting ready to drive off. the metal rod remained in the engaged position in the bracket but the plastic edges that hold the metal rod to the headrest broke which caused it to deploy.

Both driver side and passenger side headrests have spontaneously deployed within a 6 month period. this is due to a flawed design by chrysler engineering (used plastic clips to constrain strong spring loaded actuators in the headrest). the driver side deployed while i was driving, hitting me in the back of the head and distracting me in traffic!

Goes dead when coming to a stop. also hesitates after stopping, then accelerating. does this about 2x/day. local dealer could not determine the problem. took to local transmission mechanic, who has determined transmission needs replacing

I own a 2014 town and country. the check engine light has come on at around 59800 miles. brought to mechanic and he informed me cylinder 6 was misfiring. upon further investigation he said the cylinder head was cracked. i called chrysler because mechanic said they have extended warranty for this specific part. i was told my year is not covered. only up to 2013. upon researching the problem is still going on. with my year and others. this is a big problem and it needs to be addressed. chrysler should stand by their product and fix these issues.

The blind spot indicators failed and shorted out due to water intrusion. the sensors are located in the rear bumper with the connector/opening facing the rear wheels with no protection allowing water and salt, etc. to penetrate the seam on the sensor as well as the connection to the harness. it caused our back up warning system and blind spot detection system to stop functioning, and shorted out the sensors causing them to drain the battery overnight every night (making the vehicle unreliable and unusable), and causing the alternator and battery in the process. it took three shops, $1,500 and two months just to identify the cause of the problem (after replacing both alternator and battery). once the root cause was identified, the dealer offered a repair for a mere $1,600 (replacing both sensors, harness and module) and stated that it is a common issue and happens on virtually all of these vehicles because there is nothing preventing water from entering these sensors.

A used vehicle, 2014 town country, just got on the road from an inter change, speed limit was 70 mph, thus only going 65, put cruise control on, weather and pavment was dry and excellent conditions, passing gear kicked in causing spinning of front tires and veering off to the right, hitting a utility truck no damage to truck but mine wow !, been having problems with this vehicle since i bought it, problem dealer would not look at problem vehicle was in motion defective sensors assumption.*dt*jb

I filed with the manufacturer...and once again the run round. sent me to you... so below is my complaint. hello ? my name is [xxx] . i purchased this 2014 chrysler town and country believing it would be a safe vehicle for my family so the event today was the van just decided to shut off as i am driving 50mph down the road! i couldn't turn, i couldn't put it in neutral nor could i brake! i have a 5yr and a 3yr in my car!!! really?! all these sensors and [xxx] in this car makes it fatal! there was a semi behind me that proceeded to flip me off and blow the horn at me instead of seeing if we were ok. we could have been killed! i have an appointment tomorrow to bring the car in however this is a serious situation. no warning! no nothing! no check engine light. let me just tell you a little more about this pos? i bought it with 30k miles on it. i only had it for about 6 months and had to have the entire transmission rebuilt which still to this day shifts hard and feels like its going to literally fall out of the car. after that is was a tire sensor, then both seats in the second row wont work and they want $1200 to fix a cable! i folded them into the floor maybe 4 times as we use them when going on vacation! the sliding doors act up like they are having a seizure! the pieces all around the car are broken. the running boards the piece in the back where the trunk is and the pieces on the front where it says chrysler. the air conditioner went out! which took 3 times for the repair man to figure it out because there was no code for the problem! then when they had to tear the whole dash apart to fix the problem now the clock doesn?t work and the speedometer ticks like the is a bomb in my dash! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My car is just shutting off while going 60mph on the highway. just shuts off while in park, remote start, driving. will do it at 20mph, will do it at 60mph. once it shuts off, i loose power steering.

Driving one morning check engine light came on. also noticed van not wanting to shift into overdrive 6th gear . went to get code read p060dd was present . started by checking oil very low . then noticed oil all over the top of transmission and leaking down side of motor from underneath the intake. upon further inspection noticed valley of engine full of oil. added about 3 quarts of oil and drove car 30 miles light went off. i found multiple tsbs about the oil filter housing. called dealer they said yep it's a issuse and parts 286.. during the repair after i removed the intake i was able to confirm that it appeared to be the oil filter adapter housing leaking oil. in filled the engine valley with oil. i replaced the part plus new intake gaskets and then drained all the oil and coolant. hopefully this part doesn't fail again as i used a oem from dodge chrysler

The airbag light on the instrument panel will randomly illuminate and ding as if the airbag has failed. this happens at random and under no specific circumstances while driving on the road. this concerns me for the fact i fear the air bags will not deploy if an accident occurs.

The van was purchased in 2017. the jerking/shuttering of the vehicle when driving or hauling on gas was the first sign of dysfunction of the vehicle. the second sign of failure in the manufacturing of this make and model of chrysler was the head restraint of the drivers seat and then weeks latter the passenger seat popped up, when the vehicle was parked and not in motion and deployed out of place without impact of any accident or etc. and last but not least, but extremely important the oil leaks that this vehicle to this day have started since september of 2019. we have gone more than 3 times to different oil changes and companys and they keep insisting it's a chrysler recall on this make and model. when we noticed this huge oil spill, is when it's parked and we are ready to go to our next destination and a pool of oil shows out! we are afraid to travel far and/or have complications latter. we can't even enjoy this vehicle and go see my brothers who are off in college because this is the only transportation vehicle that all 3 of us in this household can fit comfortable and bring goods to them when in need. we did not purchase this vehicle to have a mediocre product and result. we are very disappointed with the vehicle and wish and pray to finally have a solution and good result this time around with filing this complaint through nhtsa. if this problem is not fixed soon, we will not be able to go to dallas and spend christmas with my younger brothers at the end of the month. please, please, i beg of you act and give customer service that we need!

2014 chrysler town & country has a bad oil leak. we have researched and found it to most likely be the oil filter housing cooler assembly. there is oil all over the the motor and underneath on the drivers side but not on the passenger side we have read that the oil filter housing is easy to crack when changing oil & filter. i have always taken it to the dealer where we bought it new to have it serviced. my last oil change was done 4000 miles ago and we just started having this oil leak. so it cannot be that is was cracked or it would have been leaking at the time of the last service. the oil cooler housing is a plastic part on the drivers side and that is where all the oil is leaking. the warranty has expired so we are exploring repair options. since this is becoming a common problem, a recall should be issued. we recently bought our son a 2019 dodge challenger. it has the same motor as our van, so we aren't looking forward to addressing this same issue.

Iwhen i bought my 2014 town and country mini van it had 39111 miles on it i bought and extended warranty which will not cover my engine problem since it was covered at the time by the manufacturer, well as you can imagine 4 months past the manufacturer warranty ran out it is in the shop, which it needs the camshaft and rocker arms replaced and it is misfiring on cylinder #6 i have 94,000 miles on the van so the 100,000 mile part they will not cover for they say 60 months or 100,000 miles which is not right, i have seen several complaints about the camshafts and rocker arms going bad and breaking down as well as misfiring cylinders. when will there be a recall on these problems. these vehicles should last 100's of thousands of miles if taken care as i have taken care of mine. i am extremely disappointed in chrysler and i honestly don't the job is being done to investigate these problems. my van is currently in a shop waiting to see if the manufacturer will honor the warranty since it is only four months past the 60 months from when the van was first put into service by someone else before me i bought it used from cooks auto and i thought the extended warranty would cover any engine problems but i was wrong they claim that since it had a manufacturer warranty they had to give me a different warranty plan and did not explain, i was told i was covered bumber to bumber until i hit 99,111 please investigate and do a recall on these engines. thank you.

At 91,614 miles engine is leaking oil, took to chrysler dealer they said it is oil cooler/filter adapter . they want over $1000. to fix it, i have a extended warentee they sold me for over $2000., and they won,t cover it. plastic part on engine, bad design.

International warranty bulletin id-14-03 and service bulletin 09-002-14 should apply to 2014 chrysler town and country. code p0304 came up dealer confirmed piston 4 on left side is defective. chrysler is refusing to accept any responsiblity and refusing to fix my problem which is obviously a manufacturer defect. code first came up in september 2019. this causes vehicle to shut off randomly.

The airbag light on our town and country comes on from time from to time, but seems to go off after driving the van for a while. every time we have taken it into the dealership, the light will be on but by the time we get to the dealership 30 miles away the light is off. with the light off the dealership cannot diagnose that problem. i am concerned that this is a safety issue in the case the air bags are ever deployed. this has been going on for the last couple of years.

My engine has sprung a major oil leak underneath the intake manifold. i've seen hundreds of complaints about the same issue. it appears that chrysler put a plastic coolant to oil oil cooler under the manifold that is failing. in my opinion the is a major safety issue! this is a fire hazard, could cause loss of control of the vehicle, could cause sudden breakdowns. as wide spread of a problem this is i dont understand why theres not a recall on it. all you have to do is search town country oil cooler and you'll see. we were on the highway when we noticed the oil burning smell. lifted the hood and the oil was already over 2 quarts low.

My van started experiencing times when it would not start. at first i thought it was the starter and then after a few minutes of trying it would start. it was not the starter. this went on for several weeks and then i noticed that if the door was open it would start, then if i jiggled the wires in the door it would start. after a awhile that wouldn't make it start. i had to have it towed and the key was left in the ignition and as the tow truck driver was getting ready to put the vehicle on the truck he slammed the door and it started!! we thought it might be the wiring harness in the door so we removed it and it worked perfectly while it was out. we then replaced the wiring with oem parts and then the problem started happening again. it was intermittent and would always start if you slammed the door until 2 days ago and now it won't start at all. the repair shop says it is throwing 40 codes and that it needs a new tipm just to see what is wrong with it. it costs well over $1000!!! and it may not fix it.i know that chrysler has had recalls for the tipm in the past and quite obviously they have not fixed the problem!

Alternator failed prematurely, but out of warranty. all other models in this year range with the same engine and alternator were recalled, but this model was excluded from that recall. however, same engine and same alternator. still failed prematurely. related recall 14v-634. chrysler refused "good-will" reimbursement since my vin was not included in the recall.

Car had a rough idle loss of power and check engine light illuminated. car was diagnosed with misfire on cylinder 2 and cracked left cylinder.

While the vehicle was in motion, the buckled seat belt on the passenger side third row seating locked in place as my autistic grandson wrapped it around his neck. i looked in the rear view mirror, pulled to the side of the road which luckily happened to be a toyota dealership. the employees in the shop could not unbuckle the belt and as my grandson was already turning blue they had to cut the belt free from him. he was left with bruising around the neck but had i not seen him in time i feel he would have been strangled to death. these long belts from the upper part of the vehicle are a hazard for children.*dt*jb*dt*jb

I was driving on the highway (going at least 65 mph) and the headrests on the front passenger seat exploded. the air bag light on the dash had been going on and off for the past 2 weeks, i notified chrysler via telephone with no response. about 1.5 weeks later the airbag light returned on (intermittently) and then i heard another loud "pop" in the drivers seat but nothing exploded open.

While driving the van it completly dies no readings on dadh and the steering quits and the brakes fail i almost crashed intto a tree and a 2nd time i almost caused a 3 car pile up on a highway chrysler claims they cant duplicate the problem many other drivers are having the same safety problems while driving withfamy members and theyre afraid of dying or killing others

My van started making a whining noise on my way to work. on the way home i was sitting at a red light and when i pressed the gas pedal the van would not move. it eventually jerked off and i was able to get across the light without being involved in a serious car accident. the van started idling up but would not speed up. thank goodness i was able to get home. i was so glad my babies were not in the van with me. this is a very dangerous defect in transmission. i had absolutely no warning my transmission was about to go out.

1. van is randomly not starting 3-5 times per week. replaced battery issue of not starting still remained. using a jump starter battery pack to start vehicle--starts right up after few minutes of it being connected. took it to owego, ny royal chrysler was given no diagnosis. 4 days later, took to local mechanic told my tipm was bad and needed to be replaced. my husband bought a used tipm off ebay and replaced it on 8/7/19 so far no more issues with it not starting. 2. digital message randomly appears 1-2 times per month since may 22 manually operate liftgate. took to chrysler owego royal told my latch system is rusted out. my husband climbed into the trunk once i got home with this report---sees no signs of rust. disconnected switch then reconnected it--solved problem for 2 1/2 months. message just came on again on 8/21 my husband did same thing disconnect then reconnect working fine now. royal chrysler wanted $1600 to repair actuator. 3. service blind spot system now appears on digital message as of may 22 same day liftgate message came on. this message has not gone off since. took to chrysler wanted $546.00 to repair choose not to repair too expensive. husband looking to buy parts to repair himself on ebay. contacted chrysler go no where told parts not under recall or warranty.

The passenger side sliding door tries to open and close repeatedly without success. this causes the external lights and and turn all lights to constantly go off and the van to ding like a door is opening. once this starts, it does not matter if the car is parked, driving, on, or off.

The vehicle continues to run with the ignition key removed.lights and assessories also stay on.have to pull fuse and battery to shut vehicle down.

2 years ago on our way to fl our fly wheel cracked and had to be replaced down in fl. now a few weeks ago the fly wheel is making the same noise it did 2 years ago. we shouldnt have to replace it every couple years. so i have no vehicle to drive and we have to rely on usin my husbands truck and im 6 months pregnant. i really need to have my van working!

While i was backing out of my driveway the drivers headrest exploded into my neck for no reason. three days later i was in the passenger seat while my husband was driving on the highway and the passenger headrest exploded into my neck on the passenger side. both headrests exploded due to the plastic bracket holding the pin breaking when no accident had taken place.

For about a year the car has been giving me problems while its being driven. when i come to a stop it shakes and has cut off on me. it would restart with no problem. then it stopped giving me problems for a little while. then last thursday, i got off at an exit from the highway and when i braked behind a car at the light, it stopped a little rough. i took my foot off the brake to move up a bit and the car started going backwards real slow while it was still in drive. i had to put the car in park and turn it off for a few seconds and restart and it took me to my destination. i'm terrified to drive it with my grandchildren but need my vehicle. it amazes me about the complaints with this same problem and chrysler is not acknowledging the problem. i pray that something tragic doesn't happen. i have had this car checked repeatedly and they can find nothing and the check engine light doesn't come on.

I have experienced a failure in the number two cylinder head. chrysler refuses to acknowledge any problems with this motor for this year. even though it is the same motor that they have used in 2011 2012 and 2013 and during those years they have covered such failures. this problem is evident below 1000 rpm. you can feel the car shudder and shake as a result of miss firing in cylinder two. i am told that if it is not repaired it will eventually cause my engine to fail completely. the current price tag is approximately $3000.

The van needs a new break booster and i have been told by the dodge wholesale parts warehouse that none are available and 128 are on back order with no date on when they will be available. my car is unsafe and the breaks could go out at anytime and it could be months before the part is available. in the mean time myself and other dodge, chrysler customers are driving unsafe cars.

Misfire cylinder #6. code 306 . while in idle. coil and sparks replaced misfire continued. injectors checked, leak test done, and compression good on all cylinders but problem persists. there has been a recall for same issue on 2011 through 2013 models. but not 2014.

The active headrest on the front passenger seat deployed striking my 14 year old daughter in the head while driving and no accident occurring. upon inspection, the system did not deploy due the mechanism releasing the pin but rather the plastic that is supposed hold the pin failed resulting in deployment. there is no way to reset the headrest because it is broken. i have serious safety concerns with the driver side potentially failing and deploying in a similar manner. the driver could be struck in the head causing injury or accident. replacing both headrests would be a significant cost.

Airbag dash signal intermittently illuminates. it seems to be related to a sensor in the driver seatbelt. was given an estimate of $375. it chimes when i turn the wheel. i’m not confident that the airbag will safely deploy if in an accident

It won’t shift from 1st gear into 2nd gear

Suspension rattles, shocks and struts rattle, having trouble starding engine on often, remote start fails with no indication of low battery, engine stalls before starting. check engine light on, airbag light on.

I was getting in my car in the garage of my home when my active headrest deployed. i wasn’t injured but i was certainly startled and now am unsure what to do. the headrest cannot be reset; there are broken pieces which have fallen down inside the plastic casing.

Sliding door lock actuator is poorly designed. the motor is cheaply made and has burnt out twice in the past year on the right side of the sliding door. when the motor in the actuator burns out it causes the door to seize without warning and you can no longer open the door. this happened without warning when we needed to get our young child out of the vehicle in a hurry and could not open the door. we had to have a body shop make the repair to even open the door on each occasion as the door lock seizes and you cannot unlock it manually or operate handle. upon discovery of the issue we looked online only to discover forumns of many town and country owners have the same issue. this is a safety issue because in an emergency or collision the door will not be able to open and thus passengers become stuck inside the vehicle.

Passenger side sliding door door will open and close normally but when it gets hot outside the door will not latch when it closes. door sounds like it is constantly trying to latch shut. it will continue to do this while driving and randomly start and stop again.

While driving the car failed to go in motion. the transmission no longer moved the vehicle. we were on a street. it stopped in the middle of the roadway. transmission front pump and torque converter failed and had to be replaced including the clutch pack.

I left a house and turned on to the main road. came to a stop light. it turned green and i started to go but could not get over 20 mph. then it went out of gear and the rpms went up to 7000. the vehicle rolled to a stop. sat for a couple of minutes then it moved again but not far about 20 feet. called and had a tow truck come out and take it to a shop. was told the transmission had to be replaced. called chrysler headquarters about the problem. they said they have had no problems and they would not do anything. had the vehicle taken to a chrysler dealer and they checked the transmission and said the pump is not working along with some other parts that came off.. now it going to cost between $3000 to $4000 to fix the van.

Twice this year, air bag indicator illuminated on dashboard. in january, the passenger side seatbelt assembly needed to be replaced. now in sept, the airbag indicator came on again. this time the seatbelt and wiring assembly needs replaced on the driver side. the repairs to these safety features are costing >$1200 this year. the vehicle is 5 years old.

Takata recall. .on 04/03/2019 approximately 3:45 pm i was on a city residential street moving at 30 mph. i was coming up to a stop sign going downhill and i pressed on the brake pedal and it went to the floor. i pressed again and the same thing happened i pumped them several times and nothing. i went thru the stop street and another city block at a dead end i hit a guard rail head-on and tore it completely out. i went 100 feet into a wooded area and tore out many trees about 1 - 2 inches in diameter. i came to and abrupt stop against four trees about 3-5 inches in diameter. none of the airbags deployed and the seat belts did not lock.. i am a retired police officer so i paid attention to what was happening. i called 911 and got the police on the way. report # [xxx]. while i was waiting i tried the brakes again and after two pumps they worked. by the way the engine was still running. i then put my foot on the brake pedal and pushed down slowly and it went to the floor again. i had a scooter and lift on the back and it had come thru the back window from the sudden stop against the trees. i had just purchased this from wolfchase hyundai in memphis tn. on 01/21/2019 and had examined it as thoroughly i as could and had a carfax report that said no accidents. when i reported the accident to state farm insurance they said in may of 2017 it was in a bad accident in mo and that the grill, bumper, left headlight fender and door were all replaced. and no airbag deployed.. i have pictures on my daughters iphone but not mine. i would like you to have them. please advise how i can get them to you. my vehicle is sitting at paint and body perfectors in nashville tn. the grill, hood, both fenders, both headlights, drivers door, passenger door, back glass, ,transmission case, axle, right front wheel and tire all destroyed. i truly believe there is something bad wrong with this van.*dt information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt consumer stated there were two codes. b210a low voltage. i had just put in an auto zone gold battery and a b2204, ecu mismatch. this is where the vin's do not match.*jb

The van shuts off while driving, tonight i was traveling and as i started de acceleration for a stop light the van shut off and i lost power steering and breaks. thisncoukdve been very bad especially if i had my kids in the car.

While driving the vehicle dashboard lit up like a christmas tree and the engine completely shut off locking the wheel. after taking it to the dealership they found nothing wrong. about a month later we were driving home from a soccer game and the car came out of gear while driving about 70 mph. the rpm shot up and i was unable to drive over 40 mph. we ended up staying the night and having the car towed to the dealership. they replaced the sensor solenoid pac. 6 months later i was driving home from a soccer tournament and the same exact thing happened again however i had slowed the vehicle down driving through a residential area and went to speed up after re-entering the highway. the rpm's were at 4 to 5 going 30 mph. i pulled over turned off the car and let it sit for 5 minutes. i was able to drive normally after that , then the check engine light came on. i took the vehicle to the dealership and they said there is nothing the could do. stored codes ecu: abs dtc: c212a16 description: stored- system voltage-circuit voltage below threshold; ecu: pcm dtc: p075a description: lc solenoid circuit ecu: dmfl/dmfr dtc: b21a1 description: stored- ecu reset/recovery occurred. i have 71,000 miles on the engine and it's under warranty for 13 months more or 28,000 miles. please help!

The cable on the drivers side window keeps breaking. it’s been replaced twice. the first time the window fell and busted in the door. the 2nd time it did not break but i heard the cable snap in the door.

Car stalls for no apparent reason. 1 or 2 times a week. typically when going slow speeds or coming to a stop. no engine light comes on. only the traction light which is not applicable. as it is dry and sunny. some electrical works off and an. front led panel slightly fades in an out. fan motor (like a/c fan) goes high and low speeds. mainly the engine just shuts off without warning, so it is unsafe to drive. i used regular key instead of key fob and push bottom and still does it. took it in to dealership and they wanted to charge me $850 for a new alternator but they said "try that first", so they were not sure. took it in somewhere else and they said they couldn't find a problem. needed a light to come on first. meanwhile i'm driving a car that is unsafe to drive chrysler.

Car started shuddering and stalling while braking/at lights and stop signs. check engine light showed it was torque converter. car was repaired under warranty. just days after the repair the car was worse. they repaired again. car still stalls just days after 2nd repair. they do not know how to fix this. and my warranty is almost over. the car still shudders when braking and stalls at lights.

Invoice date 06/12/2019: van on startup loud tapping from the engine. after taking to the dealer, was told a rocker arm had failed and damaged the intake camshaft on the right/front side of the engine. had to have all 12 rocker arms replaced (5184296ah), the intake camshaft (5184380ag), all 12 tappet valve lash (5184332aa). was told by dealer this was a common problem with these v6 pentastar engines. an online search reinforces this statement. total cost was $1,356.54

Invoice date 02/28/2019: while driving the oil filter/cooler on top the engine cracked open and started pumping oil out and all over the transmission. had adapter engine oil filter cooler (68105583af) replaced. this could have trashed the engine had i not smelled oil through the vents and checked to see what was going on. caught it early enough it only lost 1/4 a quart of oil. was told by the dealer this is a common problem and they replace a lot of these on the v6 pentastar engines. an online search reinforces this claim. total cost was $923.98

In october the flex plate cracked, repaired. it cracked again in december, repaired. then cracked again in february, repaired and told the transmission was bad causing flex plate to crack. cracked again this month they are now are stating it is the engine. this is a dangerous vehicle for a family. i have been without it over 35 days in 8 months. chrysler does not want to address the issues. it had less than 100, 000 miles on it.

I was driving about 45 mph on a main roadway in ohio while on vacation. suddenly, the vehicle went completely dead and stalled. all displays went black. i had no steering and limited braking ability. i was able to leave the roadway safely. then, i put the vehicle in park. i was able to restart the vehicle, and drive back to our vacation home without issue.

Driving down the road and vehicle completely shutdown, no power steering, little braking, no lights on display. this would happen randomly with no engine light warnings. happens multiple times. once shutdown in middle of major intersection and it would not start up, would try to turn over. it also seems to happen around 35-45 mph and coming to a stop. took it to dealership hooked it up on computer no engine light or sensor triped and while it was idling car shutdown asked service manager to check about a recall on 2011 vehicles (p54) but they said no recall. i take it to work every day less then a mile away and car has shutdown on me twice. afraid to drive it any distance

Headrest unexpectedly popped into a protruding position as opposed to a compact position. the front of the headrest separated from the portion mounted. the inside of the headrest mechanism is visible and a connection is broken. the headrest can be compressed back into the original compact position but will not hold as the bar that keeps the front of the headrest attached to the mounted portion is broken. it no longer "latches" into the correct position. the van was stationary. the van was running but not in motion.

I have got a #2 cyl misfire that has been diagnosed as a bad head and needs to be replaced. after doing a little bit of research i have found that chrysler did a fix on several other years for this same issue but does not cover the 2014 model per chrysler. chrysler has told me that per my vin i am not covered under the extended coverage and that the problem has been fixed but i have not been able to find out what fix this is. i did not have to search very long on the internet to find other people with the 2014 model motor that have suffered the same failure that i have and also consistent with the previous fix.

Number one the engine has been rebuilt twice because of engine misfire. also the gas pedal sometimes gets stuck which is dangerous . and now the air bag sensor has been on and there is no reason for it to be on. i have done research and there are a lot of complaints with this model of vehicle in regards to the air bag sensor. it is the front air bag sensor that is on. i need this repaired . it is a very serious safety issue as i don't even know if the air bag will work correctly

Car parked and off in driveway. after exiting vehicle but before closing door, drivers headrest popped and front section separated from rear section on right side. visual indication of plastic bracket sheared. no power on vehicle. upon testing ignition associated airbag light illuminated indicating failure of airbags or ahr. no collisions in vehicle history or associated with event. no deployment of passenger ahr.

About january 15, 2019 we noticed a rattling sound coming from the engine compartment on the right or passenger side. the rattling was only noticeable if you were standing next to the van when it was idling. the rattling has gotten worse so we took it into the dealer & found out we need to replace 4 camshafts & 24 rocker arms to fix the problem. the mechanic told me this has been a common problem with this engine. mostly after 120,000. miles. our van only has 94,855 miles. still under the 100,000 mile warranty but 10 months past the 5 year warranty. the dealer & chrysler sca told me they won't fix it under warranty. this should be repaired under warranty since we are under the 100,000. miles. the dealer told me if there were enough complaints that might be enough to start a recall for this issue. there is definitely a manufacturing defect for this to happen. today's engines should run 500,000. miles minimum before having to do major work to the engine.

While my wife and children were making a left-hand turn in the far left lane the van completely went dead. they lost all power to the engine, lost all power steering, lost all ability to accelerate, and lost all ability to break. the car traveled across both lanes and luckily into a shopping center turn lane, where they applied the emergency brake to come to a stop. landscapers saw what happened and were able to push the car into the parking lot. the dashboard stayed lit and the ac fan continued to blow. it's almost as if the battery was still on, but they had no mechanical functions. we had the van taken to tequesta tire co where they did a full inspection. after a full inspection, they determined the problem to be a possible "fluke". after additional research online, this appears to be a wider issue with other t&c owners. other owners say they have not found the cause of the issue and spend a significant amount of money with no resolution or cause.

Driver side sliding door will not open from inside or out. just stopped working on its own. automatic button won’t open it from drivers door or from buttons on remote.

Defogger inefficient and unsafe when raining in summer caused by known problem with a/c heat blend door sticking. ac on one side high heat on other..condensation forms on inside while driving on highway. fca fixing for free on some 2014 -2105 models but not all even though same issue reported and same parts (identical part numbers) involved on same vehicle in same time frame.

Driving on interstate vehicle suddenly lost all power, lighting for gauges, radio, odometer, speedometer, etc, slowed to around 20 mph (70 mph zone) engine began smoking. was able to exit and rolled onto side street. smoke emanating from under hood. engine would not restart. vehicle inspected by mechanic who concluded: engine blown. vehicle purchased used only 4 months prior. oil changed and flush and fill performed by certified mechanic 1 month ago.

In june 2018 while driving the chrysler van on the highway, the headrest exploded hitting my husband in the back of the head. we took the van to have the headrest replaced costing us $305.60. i saw on the news yesterday that a woman has started a class action suit because her headrest exploded on the same year chrysler vehicle. there must be a problem with these headrests and chrysler should reimburse people for the money they had to pay and also recall all the other vehicles with similar headrests before someone is hurt or killed by them. my husband said it was a hard hit to his head when it exploded like someone hit him in the back of the head.

The “no fuse” indicator comes on at random times. it may stay on for months at a time and sometimes will just fluctuate between the odometer and no fuse indication. everything electrical still works while the no fuse indication is on. the fuse has been changed to no avail. this happens whether the vehicle is moving or stationary. presently it is parked. when door is opened the no fuse indicator comes on. while at firestone today getting the tires rotated, the service writer said he has seen this on numerous town and country vans.

When the vehicle is running and put into park or has been in park idling, the electrical system (and engine) intermittently (once a month) shuts down and the vehicle needs to be re-started. the climate control fan level resets to full blast, temperature setting resets, and the clock resets to 12:00. so far this hasn't happened with the vehicle in drive.

Vehicle has 116,000 miles on it. first transmission went at 92,000 miles. second one just went at 116,000.

When driving on the highway at a constant speed and then accelerating the vehicle continues to accelerate even when the accelerator is released and the brake is depressed. after pressing the brake pedal several times the vehicle speed decreases. the acceleration continued from 10 to 20 seconds during these times. i have experienced this condition 5 or 6 times. the condition initially occurred in aug 2015 and i took it to a dealer but no codes were found and they could not duplicate the problem. the condition occurred again in 2018 on a more frequent basis (4 or 5 times). i again took the vehicle to a dealer and they could not duplicate. i also took the the vehicle to an independent shop that specializes in electrical and drivability issues. they had the cars for 2 days and could not duplicate or find anything to indicate a problem. i have a case no. 27622793. when i heard of similar problems and recalls with other chrysler vehicles in may 2018 i called chrysler and was told that a final list of vehicles was not out yet and i would be notified if and when my vehicle was found to hav a problem.

While i was waiting to pick up someone on a school parking lot (being parked, and engine was on), i suddenly heard very(!!) loud, several thunder-like or shot-gun sounds. as i rolled down the driver's side window, i heard again that same sounds and the sound is then accompanied as if a window was grinded. the window didn't come up so i assumed it was broken into pieces. according to body shop, the regulator for the window is broken while the window glass is perfectly fine. also, i was recommended to talk to chrysler rep for possible recall. the chrysler dealer shop indicated there was no recall for my van's vin. it's so strange that there is no recall on this so i was looking at this website, and found that there was a very similar situation like mine for chrysler town and country van (recall # p25). i paid $360 out of pocket to change a regulator, and please investigate further.

I bought van used but the red guy with the air bag is on all the time on the dash since i bought it. but reading about it, it’s a safety issue in a lot of town and country’s this year.

The tire pressure sensor light stays on even though all tires are aired to correct pressure.

The drivers side sliding door does not open its shut close and it won't open and the driver seat does not go back or forth this just started happening the seat stop working in augast and the door locked shut 2 weeks ago it's a concern for me why does it do that

Driving at 30 mph or slower,the engine shuts off and the computer resets it'self. the gas mileage goes from 21 to 22 mpg back to factory 18 mpg and you have no power steering and no power brakes. it could cause me to wreck for the last time i was in down town lisbon, ohio making a left turn when it just shut off and lost power. you put it in neutral and it will start right up but it's hard to do while turning and no power steering or brakes.

The vehicle randomly shuts off while driving at various speeds causing loss of brakes, steering and electrical.

The vehicle was stationary in a parking lot. i entered the driver's side and sat down on the seat. we suddenly heard a loud bang and i felt something graze the back of my head. that's when we realized the headrest exploded and nearly hit me in the back of the head and neck. after looking closer at the headrest, the base is made of plastic with a metal rod that locks the headrest to the upright supports. there are two gas pistons that push against the plastic base of the headrest and the posts that go in the back of the seat. the plastic headrest base failed catastrophically, which allowed the headrest pistons to expand forcefully.

Air bag warning light stays on. hood paint bubbling. stow and go seats shake and vibrate on interstate. brake rotors still rattle vibrate even after new mopar calipers and rotors replaced.

In motion the curse control will not turn on or it will turn off without any notice. i have had it in the shop about six months after i purchased the van . the auto dealer said they could not find anything wrong. now it has been 4 years and i'm still having this problem and the shutting off of the curse control or turning on is happening more often.l need some help figuring out what the cause is of this problem.

The active head restraint activated while the vehicle was parked in my garage. the vehicle has never been in a crash and only has 36,000 miles on it. the part is clearly defective and/or poorly made as i can see the plastic piece that broke causing the failure. i am unable to reset the headrest thus rendering this safety device useless.

Oil pressure sensor has failed and will not come out using proper tools. i was told the switch will need to be forcefully removed.

The transmission cooling lines are leaking. while traveling daily to work on many occasions, my lights in the dash, my radio and all power up front would go off while driving and just recently while parked. oil filter housing assembly is leaking. had to replace the full oil filter housing assembly and int manifold set. twice, as the vehicle has been in motion, the engine has stopped and the ability to steer is gone. the radio has stayed on. both instances have happened at 25mph or less, thankfully!

Oil filter housing-the engine has a major oil leak due to part number 68105583aa. in addition, unrelated to the oil leak the driver seat also unexpectedly reversed and would not move forward again. while sitting at the intersection the car engine suddenly stalled. i am not certain if this was due to leak or electrical problem. the car behind me had to use evasive measures to prevent a crash.

Vehicle overheats to the point where i have to pull over, open the hood, open the radiator cap, let it drain and add more water/antifreeze. i have t do this every day once or twice a day. i drive 7 miles to work. the thermostat has been replaced and the car only has 90k miles. also, cannot put gas on the tank. it does not take more than 1/5th of a gallon and it stops... have to restart the gas adding situation every couple of minutes. it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to fill up the tank.

The van stalls a little bit i went and had a diagnostic done on it and the catalytic converter keeps clogging up causing the van to slow up or to switch gears. also the doors don't close all the way the sliding doors do not close all the way you have to open and close them sometimes it will say that their clothes and then they come open. also the ac system does not work in the back of the car the door from the ac that goes to the back of the van closes and will not open to it gets extremely hot in the car even though the ac is on full blast. also the dvd system my van is 2 years old the dvd player went out and the company would not fix the dvd player i had to spend over $1,000 just to get a new replacement for the dvd player. also the wipers will fog up the windows causing a hazardous where you cannot see and the wiper cord for the rain-x comes undone.

The third row seating shoulder harnesses have shredded apart.

Side monitor sensors fail after less than 30k miles. system beeps every 5 seconds and speedometer flashes warning to get the system serviced. it will not stop beeping. the monitors rot out because they are not sealed properly. this should definitely be a recall. it's a $2,100 dealer fix. chrysler does not admit it's a defect yet there are complaints of failure all over the web.

Oil filter/adapter/oil cooler assembly failed, causing large amount of oil to leak all over engine & transmission, likely creating a fire hazard.

We own a 2014 town and country with a 3.6l v6 engine, and 94,500 miles. still within the engine/power train 100,000 miles guarantee. our car leaks motor oil profusely given cracks in the engine oil cooler. chrysler’s replacement part number is: 68105583af. documented oil loss problems appeared into multiple models using the 3.6l engine dodge: - avenger – caravan – durango -challenger. jeep: - wrangler and grand cherokee, among others. fiat chrysler manufactured the oil filter housing out of plastic to save costs. common sense mandates that nothing attached to the engine should be made from plastic. their engineering team incurred into poor manufacturing decisions. they should rather use metal for engine’s parts exposed to torque, heat and expansion. given multiple complaints, fiat chrysler finally discontinued the original parts numbers 68105588 (the one provided with our unit). fair is to say that the new replacements are still made from plastic. these defective parts originated oil leaks and engine overheating. involving substantial risks of engine failure, expensive repairs and fire hazards. chrysler knew they had a problem but decided not to recall defective units and rather dealing with customers on a case-by-case basis. chrysler’s dealers want to charge $150 for inspection, and $780 for parts and labor for replacement. we called corporate customer service on 1/21/2019, but fiat chrysler refused to aid arguing that the 5-year guarantee period had expired. they also refused any guarantee period extension. it is unfair that the public must bear replacement cost for poorly manufactured parts. chrysler should assume full ownership for mistakes and recall defective units, or extend the protection guarantee period for defective parts.

The airbag light comes on and off. no rhyme or reason. multiple owners having the same issue. also airbags didn’t deployed on any accident, we have had two where we were struck from behind and airbag didn’t deploy. chrysler is forcing owners to fix this issue instead of doing a recall or investigation. i don’t feel safe in vehicle knowing the airbag is malfunctioning.

Exactly one year ago my van (72,000 miles) started misfiring / idling rough (code: p0301), i changed the coil and spark plug in cylinder 1. this did not correct the problem. a short time after the engine started making a loud ticking noise. i still had miles left on my warranty so took it for service. the dealer replaced both cam shafts, 12 rocker arms and 12 tappet-valve lash on the back side. this repaired the issue until a couple months later - the oil filter housing started leaking. repaired that, another huge issue. now as of yesterday, the van is showing (code: p0304) misfiring and idling rough. i now fear the same issue is brewing on the front side (cylinders 2,4,6).

The oil filter housing is plastic and appears to be a weak part and known issue. mine broke which leaked oil all over my engine. i don't know when it broke but a found oil in the driveway.

Air bag light on instrument panel came on the other day and stays on while vehicle is running.

The driver's seat belt spontaneously unbuckles while driving. even after latching it securely, hearing a 'click' and noting the absence of the driver seat belt warning, it has come unbuckled spontaneously which triggers the seat belt warning. this has happened dozens of times and we are having to replace the seat belt as a result. note: although this vehicle is a 2014 model year, it had less than 17,000 miles on it when we purchased it and immediately noticed this problem. that was in october of 2017.

Within warranty, passenger side takata inflators was replaced no charge. a year later after warranty the drivers side signals a problem on the dashboard. dealer says is will cost $700.00 to replace. reported to the penn safety commission, and to chrysler. last year 2017. no one is willing to stand by the product with concern for my safety. i am a 64 year old grandmother. first time chrysler buyer and the last time too. tried to stay a dedicated american made buyer,,,, however,,, no respect for who i am as a consumer, or the safety of my family.

We purchased this vehicle on may 2017 from a reputable dealer, when we took it for a road test we felt some 'rumbling' every time that we applied the brakes, when we questioned the sales person, we were told that is because the 'abs' being activated. when we took it for state inspection, march 2018, we were told that the disc brakes on the four wheels were 'rusting' and needed to be 'turned' to clean the rust, of course we have to pay for the repair. checking in the internet, i read that other drivers were commenting that they have the sane issue, rusted discs, etc. etc. i believe that manufacturer used poor quality components and should make things right.

Stalls without warning under all conditions. engine and all electrical components (engine, lights, power brakes, power steering, interior lights, dashboard lights). this used to happen once and a while. now it happens more than once a day. this is a major safety problem. last time the car was at the chrysler dealership they were unable to diagnose the problem. do not buy a chrysler minivan until this is addressed, they take responsibility for this daner, and there is a recall. car has less than 40k miles. most recently happened when travelling at about 20mph, while pulling out of a parking lot and into traffic on a busy road, temperature outside is 40f. city street. car was already warm (had been driven about 10-miles prior to this happening. i'm only allowed to check three items for part of the car affected, but other systems were also effected including lighting, peed control, wipers, power seats, steering, elec stability control, air bags, tire pressure sensors, and other electrical systems.

We have multiple electrical problems involving different systems. orc and seat belt tension-er needs to be replaced. blind spot sensor and harness needs to be replaced. along with left side module. lock actuator on passenger side door needs to be replaced. air bag sensor for driver is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

Even driving down mild grade front disc brakes rotors becomes warped under normal braking ( heat) condition. this creates unusual shaking , vibration of steering wheel and the whole front suspension. i was told by few mechanics there is nothing that can be done because manufacturer is not willing do correct this problem. please, lok into this problem, because it is obvious defect and could present dangerous situation.

The transmission cooling lines are leaking on my wife's 2014 chrysler town and country touring and i've look this up online there are plenty of complaints but there has not been a recall on this problem yet i am wondering why there has not been a recall issued for this problem when it is an ongoing problem with these cars

Vehicle stalled when operating on highway. all power lost. restarted without any problem. no error codes from computer.

Vehicle dashboard displayed service blind spot detector while driving on the highway at 55 mph. after a few more miles, lost power to the entire display and interior lights. the speedometer, fuel gauge, temp gauges flat lined. a few seconds later the display came back on with all the fault lights on: engine light, tire pressure, brake light, etc. service center detailed the problem was a corroded blind spot sensor that caused a bus failure and shorted out the electrical system. after doing several searches online this is a known issue with the blind spot detectors becoming corroded and needing to be replaced. this is potentially hazardous to lose power while travelling at highway speeds. video from youtube of repair and part corrosion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4aazc5fsw

Engine oil cooler assembly can be cracked causing an oil leak. discovered while investigating oil pooling on the ground while parked. oil cooler assembly is a plastic formed part with metal coolers attached. the oil filter housing is an integral part of this assembly. auto dealer's service department claims the plastic cooler assembly is cracked due to over tightening of the oil filter cover and the part is not covered under the powertrain warranty. chrysler has already identified there is a high number of complaints about this issue. review chrysler service bulletin #09-008-15 and it has a list of vehicles that may have this problem. i have contacted fca warranty and they confirmed the part is not covered under the powertrain warranty because it is not part of the engine, but an item attached to the engine. the auto service department stated the oil cooler assembly had numerous design revisions because of cracking.

Previous complaint airbags did not go off although impact felt extreme.

While traveling daily to work on many occasions, my lights in the dash, my radio and all power up front would go off while driving and just recently while parked.i did not think too much of it so i had replaced the battery and the electronic to the front would continue to fail i was unable to correlate rather anything else could have caused it. my automatic doors would not open although the switch was on and nothing was blocking it. also my tire pressure indicator light was not going off even after having to replace the tires.

The flywheel was cracked horribly and the van couldn’t be driven . the mechanic had to replace it.

Faulty oil filter adapter. this part is made out of plastic and cannot take the stress of being removed and put back together it must be unscrewed ever time oil change is done . part splits the housing causing a major oil leak that could cause a fire or accident oil is being spilled on exhaust if motor runs out of oil it will no longer run and vehicle would stop in middle of road. there are several tsb bulletins out on this issue still chrysler has not made good on it. in my opinion this part should be recalled its a major flaw that needs to be looked into.part# 68105583af is the part in question.

Airbag light is on. afraid to drive because bags may activate.

Upon turning on the ignition of my vehicle in the garage, the airbag indicator light went on in the dashboard. while driving whether it be on the hwy/city the light stayed on and wouldn't turn off. this car hasn't been in an accident according to my knowledge. i took it to skiba auto repair and they thought that it was just the wire, which is common for this type of repair. but it wasn't and upon further investigation, they discovered that it was the passenger side air bag which will need to be replaced at a dealer. if the car is involved in a collision the passenger airbag may not inflate resulting in injury or death. there is no current air bag replacement recall for this vin...

Material selection of gas tank fitting and hard lines related to emissions and fuel delivery have attracted rodents to chew on the tanks and hardlines. the result is that the vehicle no longer meets emissions requirements without costly repairs. spoke to 2 local dealers who indicated they see this issue 2-3 times a month each. damage appears to manifest itself as soon as 8/16/2016 as that was the first instance we had a very small evaporative leak code in the computer and took it in for repair. manufacture should have taken steps to prevent the parts from being "tasty". anything from changing the composition of the material to adding protective tape is better than throwing up their hands and saying it is the rodents fault.

Every trouble light on the instrument panel came on. there is no power to the interior of the vehicle. it's possible the engine could shut off while driving the van. the problem started on 10/6/2018. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the dealer could not resolve the problem and had a 3rd party replace the fuse box. this did not resolve the issue. the battery was then replaced. this did not resolve the issue. all trouble lights on the instrument cluster are illuminated (inc - charging system, oil pressure, anti-lock brakes, air bag, electronic throttle control, tire pressure, engine temperature, seat belt, brake, engine malfunction indicator, electronic stability control, vehicle security, low fuel). the lights were going on intermittently, but are now on constantly. i cannot drive the van due to the fact that it just might shut off while driving on the highway or thruway. the vehicle is now parked. and i need a vehicle to drive!!

Van was parked in my driveway. my passenger window malfunctioned when rolling down. it made a loud noise and then fell rapidly down into the door frame. i heard it breaking as it fell down at rapid speed inside of the door.

When the vehicle is in motion and coming to a stop light or sign. it starts to jerk and shudder. sometimes stalling and it needs to be put into park restarted and sometimes it will immediately die again. no codes are thrown and all mechanics and chrysler dealers are stumped as to what’s causing it.

A couple months ago, the srs light started coming on intermittently. the light comes on randomly, while driving, while parked, while making left-turns, while braking, while accelerating, etc... because no accident had occurred, i assumed it was faulty connectors that may have gotten wet, so i brought it into an auto shop. they pulled the historical codes, since the light wasnt on at the time, and it says it is a driver side belt tensioner issue. i have 68,000 miles on our van so i had hoped the dealer i bought it from would have some good news (maybe it is covered under warranty) - its not. reading online, it seems this may be a common issue with some town and country mini vans, so i figured i should report as well.

We have had to replace the parking brake assembly twice on this van. the first time was in december 16, 2016 which was replaced under warranty the second time was december 30,2017 but, was not covered under warranty. our van only has 30,000 miles on it and this part should not fail as often as it has. we set the park brake in all of our cars when we park them. i've never had a car's park brake fail, yet it's happened to this car twice now, when it was two years old and again at three years and almost one year to the day when the replacement part was installed. when the assembly / cable broke it was sitting still in a parking lot.

Twice, as the vehicle has been in motion, the engine has stopped and the ability to steer is gone. the radio has stayed on. both instances have happened at 25mph or less, thankfully!

The outboard seat belts in the third row are installed too far forward. they do not lay against the passengers chest and do not fit car seats/booster seats properly. this is a huge safety concern and a very disappointing discovery after we purchased this minivan. this is a design flaw.

The system dash flashes and the.whole car shuts down completely off while driving or sitting still. the system flickers and then turns engine off or lights go off and engine is on. the car has been hesitating since 2015 and lights flickering in 2016.

Oil filter housing is leaking oil beneath the intake manifold (engine valley). this oil pools into this area and may hold a quart of oil. vehicles fires are possible due to oil leakage from the filter housing and pooling in this area. first noticed oil leaks on the driveway. the oil appeared to be coming from the engine valley and leaking onto the transmission area and then the driveway. dealer stated the oil filter housing leaking is a common problem with the 2014 town and country/caravan. the oil filter housing developed a crack and oil now leaks onto the engine valley.

Emergency brake pedal assembly failed when pedal was depressed. vehicle has no emergency brake/parking brake until emergency brake pedal assembly is replaced. vehicle is 38 months old and has 31,000 miles. vehicle stationary, parked on grade. had to block the wheels to ensure against roll back.

Without warning the engine and all electrical components (interior and exterior lighting, radio, wipers, ac-heat/blower, brake assist, steering assist, airbag, speed indicator, etc) all shut off. there are no dash warning lights. the dashboard is completely black for a moment (until restart). this happened while the car was warm (after driving at highway speed for over 15min). this happened while the car was travelling at approximately 35-miles per hour on a city street. i was able to put the car in neutral and immediately restart without stopping. this was an extremely dangerous situation. if i was on a poorly lit road or going around a corner, or at a higher speed, or a less experienced driver, this could easily have been a fatal accident. this was previously reported to chrysler and thye reported the problem 'fixed' less than 1-year ago (reported to chrysler corporate in early august 2017 and supposedly fixed by a chrysler dealership august 11 2017). the problem is not fixed. this happens without warning and very limited (less than once per month). it seems more frequent in cold weather. it has happened at other times, often a minute or so after starting the vehicle, while warming up. it has happened other times while driving (about 4-times since purchase in november 2014), but i do not recall the dates and time.

*note reporting three different discrepancies dates included* after driving vehicle approximately 1 mile, vehicle which was in motion began to stutter and eventually stalled out. the stall caused the vehicle to lose brake function and power steering. vehicle was put in park and restarted, vehicle resumed with normal function and operation. incident occurred 12/1/17 while driving on a highway, the vehicles transmission became stuck in 3rd gear and would not shift. i was forced to drive vehicle at an extremely high rpm to maintain highway speed in order to exit highway at a safe location. again i put vehicle in park and restarted it. the vehicle resumed normal operation. incident occurred 11/24/17 while stationary the vehicles left passenger sliding door will not go in to lock position while attempting to close causing door to cycle repeatedly. it is a necessity to manually push the door closed or it will continue this cycle indefinitely. incident occurs daily

The airbag problem warning light on my dash is constantly on. i took to the dealer who "fixes" it (twice), but it comes back on within days. i recently talked to 3 other owners of chryslers and all said they experienced the same issue.

On two separate occasions our van lost power while we were driving. the fist incident happened while going 25-30 mph on a city road. we lost all power, had no power steering and just had to hit the brakes, put the car in park and restart it and continue driving. the second time happened while making a right hand turn onto a busy highway. after making the turn the van lost power and again we had to put it into park, restart it and accelerate as traffic was coming quickly behind us. we are incredibly thankful that our family, our children were in the car both times, was not in an accident caused by our van losing power.

At low speed. the car will stall and disable the power steering and brake assist. brake warning light illuminates. the car will start back and perform with no error codes. very risky dangerous situation. it seems as though earlier modules were recalled for the same symptoms due to a faulty ignition. there has been no recall so far on my 2014, but it is currently a very dangerous vehicle when loss of power steering and brake assist which is virtually all of the brakes for most who are used to brake assist working properly. then it shows no code afterward.

Driving my car about 25 mph on a city street and the head rest popped out for no reason and hit the back of my head. this is a 2014 chrysler town and country at the time of the incident it had 80,000 miles on the car. i brought it to the chrysler dealership and they informed me that this was not covered under the manufactures warranty or extended warranty. the repair has not been fixed.

Both chrysler and the dealership knew that the computer module was defective and went out of their way to keep this information from us leaving our entire family and the general public in danger. our insurance company had us take the car to a nuetral 3rd party to determine that the wreck i had was caused by the car self acceleration. they confirmed it did and that there were numerous errors that were never addressed or warned of. the tire pressure gauge malfunctioned and blew out the rear passenger tire. both troncalli (the dealership) & chrysler refused to give us their findings claiming proprietary information and hung up on us. then we tried to go through mediation, we were told that because the car was involved in a wreck they could not help us even though they knew that the wreck was caused by the malfunction. so we have an undriveable car that we are paying a note and insurance on sitting in our garage. all while we are having to rent cars because i have been having health issues since sept 2016. the accident occurred while i was making a turn and i hit my neighbor which was parked on the street.

Transmission failure while in motion on city street. loss of control and nearly missed collision with inanimate object on side of road. parked and remained in drive with foot on break continued to fault periodically (clunking noise and rpm dip). turned off car and no issue upon restart, drove 5 minutes and issue re-occurred. had it towed to mechanic who didn't note the issue at first as car resumes normal operation upon restart. next day reported to me it was a transmission failure and a new one was needed. this was second occurrence initially one incident at 90k miles. but couldn't reproduce failure. continued to drive until second more event listed here.

I was driving on the highway with my children in the car. it was a very hot day, but we had just had a rainstorm. there were no cars around me on the road and all of a sudden a heard loud boom. i checked my windows nothing around me. i looked up and opened the sunroof cover, and saw my sunroof was shattered into tiny pieces with a large hole in the top. i immediately closed the cover so that the glass didn't fall in my car onto my children.

Radio, gauges, turn signals, and ac randomly stop working. wipers turn on at the same time. some times for seconds, sometimes for hours. there does not seem to be a trigger as it has happened while driving on the highway, back roads and even stopped in the driveway. no way to reset the car once it is in dead radio/ac/gauges mode, it will only reset itself, again randomly. i tried pulling the battery cable and waiting, then re-attaching to no avail.

Vehicle gauge cluster shut down while driving 75 mph on the interstate. the dash warning lights/chimes go off and on, the wipers turn on, the a/c shuts down, no fuel gauge and most importantly no turn signals or speedo. i have narrowed it down to a bad blind spot sensor on the driver side. i cant believe a failed sensor would cause such safety hazard when the sensor is supposed to make the car safer. very disapointed in chrysler right now for shoddy craftsmanship.

My 4 year old child was buckled in his booster seat when the seatbelt locked as he buckled which then let to him being tangled around the neck since it was in the locked position the only way to release is to completely retract or cut being he was being strangulated the only way was to cut the belt. all vehicles need to have an emergency release or some sort of release. if i didn't have a pair of scissors it could have been a seriously bad situation. not even sure of the purpose of the locking when fully pulled out as a safety feature.. the middle buckle has a release to fold the seats back.. why aren't all seats belts like that? i found hundreds of post about children getting tangled in locked seat belts.. it's dangerous and needs to be addressed! i was parked when this happened in a very rural area 20 min for local ems or fire departments. it's a scary situation and could simply be resolved by adding an emergency release of some sort! of course the cost of replacing a seat belt is mild compared to a life of a human but still it could be prevented 100% by an emergency release.

Electrical system goes hay wire. the battery light came on and 12 hrs later the car died. the battery was jump started 3 timed and it ran for a while but the car would not change gears, its automatic, several warning lights turned on. i finally would not move on the last jump start the gear shifter was locked and all the instrument panels were erratic.

I think the visibility of the gear selector on the dashboard is very poor. when i am sitting in the driver's seat, i can not see what gear the car is in because the steering wheel is in the way of the dashboard. the gear shift on the dashboard has no labels to let you know what gear it is in. i am attaching a picture of my view that documents the problem. i have not had a crash but have to be very careful when i am backing up that i have the car in the right gear. this issue would be in effect every time a gear is shifted. it is a constantly occurring issue.

Our van was parked in our driveway with our kids inside. when my wife opened the driver’s door it began to roll down the driveway, dragging my wife and with our two small children in the van. the van went across the street striking a neighbors ac unit. my wife suffered a broken arm, sprained ankle, and a gash on her chin. a police report was filed for the incident. i believe this to be a mechanical failure of the vehicle.

Almost in accident after car would not stop properly. found out that all 4 brake rotors needed to be replaced at under 12,000 miles. 3 independent auto mechanics diagnosed and determined that the level of damage had to be from factory and not from normal wear and tear. chrysler acknowledged damage but denied fixing under warranty and repairs had to be made at owner expense. chrysler will not reimburse, and is denying problem existed and my exist with others.

The vehicle vibrates excessively when driven. the seats all move violently. car dealers have balanced the tires to no avail. the tires wear out unevenly, cupping because of this issue. we just had new tires installed to correct the problem, according to the dealer that was the fix but the car is still vibrating. the dealer looked at the car again and suggested we rotate tires that were just installed 60 days ago. the tires are again wearing unevenly. we need assistance in having this problem resolved once and for all. the car has 1 year or 12,000 miles left on its warranty. i've lost hope that the dealer will be able to resolve the issue.

I was pulling into a parking space in a busy shopping center. fortunately i was parking in front of a grassy area where there were no parked cars or people present. as i slowly pulled in with my foot on the brake, my car accelerated in an abrupt manner up into the grassy area. it would have kept going but was stopped by an icy mound of snow. my foot never left the foot pedal. i am only five feet tall and i have small feet. the gas pedal was no where near my foot. the speed the car accelerated at was frightening. my 11-year-old son was in the car with me. several people tried to shovel me out of this spot to get my car off the hill, but they were unsuccessful because the snow bank was all ice and they could not shovel it. i had to get my car towed out of this spot because it was stuck on the snow bank which was the very thing that stopped the car from going farther in an uncontrolled way. the dealership checked the codes and nothing came up. my car was not doing anything strange before this event and is not doing anything strange now which is even more frightening because it feels like a ticking time bomb that can repeat this event without any warning whatsoever. i will be calling chrysler after writing this complaint.

While driving on the expressway the bolts that hold hood latch in place became loose and the hood lifted while in motion. vehicle was going at a speed of about 70mph. the hood hit the windshield with a strong force and instantly shattered the front windshield.

It appears my electric defogger remained on and blew out my rear window.

Driving through subdivision (slower speeds) after picking 3 boys up from school, the van accelerated on it's own and had to hit the brakes.

When driving the van stalls, losing control and wheel locking up. i have to put the van in park to restart. this has been happening since nov 2015. the current mileage is 29,000 miles. the van has been taken to the dealership for diagnosis and repair twice. the first trip resulted in no codes since they had been overwritten and the problem hadn't occurred in a reasonable time. the dealer placed a device in the car to take a snapshot when it happens. it happened and the codes p0016. the dealer replaced cam phasers-bank 1 (rear head). then the car was ready for pickup and my wife didn't even make it out of the parking lot before stalling again. according to the repair statement dated on jan 18,2016, nothing else had been accomplished. the dealer had been working with star technician support center to resolve this issue. my wife then stalled again this morning on jan 26, 2016. this matter is very serious and should be handled before a life is lost driving. according to other complaints, there are 7 around the same mileage of the same make and model year of this van.

I had a oil change. 6 days later i found oil on my garage floor. one day before no oil. took van to dealer and was told oil cooler leaking. had to add 2 quarts of oil to make it dealer. no warning lights of low oil. oil came out real fast. lucky to watch for problems. only 28,000 miles. 2014 town & country van 12/07/13 delivery date.

Had to replace tires on 2014 town and country minivan. found that the original equipment tires, two were manufactured in 2010 and two were manufactured in 2012. all showed signs of dry rot on side walls.

I was driving up hill in the city of muscatine and my automobile started roaring and accelerating near a stop sign and i could not get the auto to stop. i ended up hitting a curb and crashed into two trees and was knocked unconscious. the airbags in the front and the side did not deploy. both sides of the car were impacted and the front also. the car was still roaring when emergency personal arrived to assist me. this caused me to have seizures and was taken to emergency room and admitted to hospital. the ups driver heard the car roaring and me crashing into the trees.

Headlights & wipers started coming on at the same time and i had no control over them. the wipers would say on for about 3-5 minutes and headlights would stay on for about 15-20 minutes. next the radio would freeze up. then the push button start would not always work the first time, had to repeat it a few times to start. next alarms would go off in the car, with no symbols on the dash. then the power 3rd row seat would move forward and revers with my grandson sitting in the seat. car was unsafe to drive, too many electrical problems going on!

Drivers side sliding door opens unexpectedly when car is parked. took to dealer and they said it was in the computer system. a bad latch that needed replacement. since this happens is it not considered a safety hazard. only had the vehicle 4 months and has been doing this for three weeks. while shopping, parked in the garage, just whenever the car is in park.

Vehicle will randomly shut off while driving or idling. has happend about 8 times in last 4 months. have to coast to road side, put care in park and restart. engine shuts down, electrical turns off for a second.

The tire pressure monitoring system tpms is not functioning correctly, the system does not detect a low pressure or zero psi event or wheel removal for all four tires while stationary or moving. the system constantly reports all tire pressures are ok and without any faults. chrysler has a recall for this issue "nhtsa campaign: 14v632000, tpms left in test mode" but for unknown reasons my vin does not qualify even though vehicle is within recall mfg date of april 2014. i have posted a video documenting the malfunctioning/disabled tpms system at https://youtu.be/xd08eoiwntu

My 2014 chrysler town and country shuts off while i am driving and the steering locks up. it has happened on 3 different occasions. after it happened the first time, i took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle and didn't know why it happened. it has happened 2 more time. it is currently at the dealer being checked again. every time it happens i am driving and the car is in motion. this is very dangerous and i am very worried it is going to cause me and my children to be in an accident. something needs to be done about this, it is a very serious problem!

I had several times after i was stopped, if i released my foot off the brake pedal, momentarily, then when i tried to catch the brake again, it was frozen, locked and i couldnt brake again and the car rolled back.

I was driving through a water puddle on a two lane city street when the backwash of water from a truck in front entered my engine through the air intake ducting and caused the engine to lock up (hydrolocked) disabling my car and leaving it inoperable. this immobile situation exposed my wife and i to a possible collision as cars passed us. i had to have the vehicle towed from the site. later evaluation by a local manufacturer's dealer revealed that the engine would not turn over and needed replaced with an estimate to repair of $9,280. i believe this incident was caused by a faulty design where the engine air intake duct opening is too close to ground level. the consumers comprehensive insurance coverage covered the damaged and advised the dealer, to locate a used engine. after the engine was installed, the vehicle would not start. it was determined the starter also had water damaged and required replacement. updated 11/17/15. *jb

Remote start system starts up on it's own. vehicle will run for hours or days on it's own. vehicle will start on it's own with the doors unlocked or open. vehicle will start without the key on my person or near the vehicle. cannot get an explanation from a dealer, nor an anticipated resolution.

No accident yet, have two recalls for the same probelm, first onw jun 2014 and second two week ago. now i am told it will be mar 2016 before it can be checked again or repaired. i took this veh to the dealer 11 months ago.

I was driving on highway and it was raining. my windshield wipers were on but then started acting funny. they were going off the side of my car, going very slow, only going 1/2 way. they were going so hard that i could feel it in my brakes. my windshield broke and they stopped working. it was raining so hard i couldn't see anything and had to make an emergency stop on the side of the highway. i had the car towed to the dealership and they told me the fuse blew and that the linkage wrapped around something and blew the motor and cracked my windshield. i called the manufacturer but they said that it was out of my warranty period. this is a 2014 that i just purchased brand new last year. i work an hour away so my car does have 42k miles but it shouldn't do this. i have a video of what my window wipers were doing when they were acting funny. this video shows clearly there was no crack in my windshield at that time.

Car cut off and would not start. took the car to a chrysler dealership and they said it was the battery. they charge the battery and the car still would not start. then they said it was the tipm, they had to order the part and 39 other was waiting on the part also. it is going to be $1,100.00 to fix the problem.

I started feeling a weirdness in my brakes when i went to stop normally at stop signs, when coming up to cars & stop lights, and just basic braking while turning into parking lots, driveways, etc. no slamming of brakes just normal braking. the brakes seem to start braking then they have a slip slip feelin, like it is giving out and then catching again. they found its not the abs kicking in also. i thought at one point i wasn't pressing down enough so i tried pressing harder to make sure it was pressed down enough and it still continues to do this. i had other people drive my car and they also felt this slip slip of the brakes when stopping. it used to be once in a while but now it is constant. i have had it into the shop for this issue at 2 different shops 2 times each place total of 4 times now. nothing is done. they say they are fine. but it has gotten worse and i am afraid that they will just not stop us and not brake the car when we stop and we will end up in a major accident. my car is at 20000 miles now and i feel like they are still trying to keep having me go back and they still say brake are ok because brake light has not gone on. i cant stand it and i am now afraid when i drive it. what is there to do? chrysler is not doing anything except giving me the run around from dealership to dealership.

My town and country has the power folding third row seats. my kids and i were sitting in those seats on july 4th for the fireworks show. i was shifting in the seat when my knee accidentally pressed the seat fold button which started collapsing the third row seats on my 2 kids and i. if my kids had not jumped up in time, the seats would not have stopped before causing serious injury. i stayed in the seat to see if i could stop it somehow, but the buttons didn't stop the process. i finally was able to force the seat to stop with my back, but i had to use a lot more force than my kids could ever have done. the seats have enough force to seriously injure a child. this is clearly a huge safety issue, as the buttons are in a location that can be accidentally pressed easily. also, if kids are in the back of the van and are playing around, they could easily reach and play with the buttons while sitting in the back. a simple button cover or child lockout switch would solve the problem. the van is advertised with the purpose of using the rear seats as a tail-gate alternative, but this safety issue makes that a dangerous solution.

On august 7th, 2015 i was driving our 2014 chrysler town and country on a highway in springfield, mo from texas, with my three children with me, going about 65 mph, when a car cut in front of me. when i pressed on the brakes, they went all the way to the floor. pressing on the brakes did not slow the van down in any way. i couldn't swerve to the left being there was an 18 wheeler so i was forced over to the emergency lane & grass. towed to a local dealer. we explained to dealer that chrysler has been the only people to service our brakes, including brake fluid. my husband never opened the brake reservoir at anytime being we had always had it serviced at chrysler. he did however change the engine oil one week prior to our out of state trip. during these few days we were going between the chrysler customer care and the dealer. after we told the dealer of our self- oil change of only engine oil, suddenly about 3 hours later, the chrysler customer service rep informed us that the dealer had told them, that somehow the brake oil became contaminated and it had to have happened in the last 7 days. chrysler refused to cover costs under warranty, they found their way out of paying for their brake failure.

The vehicle was parked in the garage when the driver entered the vehicle. the driver pressed the ignition button to turn the vehicle, keeping her foot on the brake. as the vehicle started, the wipers came on at high speed without having been turned on at the time or previously. at the same time, the engine revved and began to accelerate in reverse despite being in park with the driver's foot on the brake. the driver's door was open and crashed against the side of the garage door, ejecting the driver who had not even had time to put her on seat belt. the van continued to reverse down the driveway where it completed (almost) a 180 degree turn. the van finally came to a stop rolling up against a sidewalk curb with a couple more engine revs. a person other than the driver was the first to the vehicle after it came to a stop. he noted that the vehicle was in park. he shut the vehicle off by pressing the ignition button. the owner of the van and driver are very concerned about the vehicle's and their safety after having experienced this incident. *tt

While driving on the highway suddenly the car shifted down on its own with a big 'thud" and would not come out of the gear and stayed in the 2nd gear till we got to a chrysler dealer and had to leave the car for about 3 days while they checked things over and finally told us that the module which controls the transmission is bad and was changed. well it happened again and then back to dealer and finally they told us the module actually was ok, there was a wire which was not soldered correctly and they soldered it.

Sometimes when you open the side door on the drivers side it opens and then starts to shut again before you have a chance to get in or out. if you are in the process of getting in or out the door will hit you. this doesn't always happen but when it does it is frustrating. i am afraid someone will get hurt. when this happens i hit the button by the mirror and it seems to fix the problem.

Huge safety issue. i had a horrible experience this past saturday. had my arms full; grandchild, 2 diaper bags, purse, keys. van was locked. started van with auto starter. opened both back doors of t and c with key faub. set bags in back. put key on front seat. put baby in car seat. closed door with button on van. went to get in car and car was still locked. thank god i started the car. it was 89 degrees out. son had to drive to my house and get spare key. car shut off, (runs for 15 minutes when started with the car starter), before my son got back, baby was inside. thank god my son came 30 seconds later. this is a feature that needs to be changed. i still can't shake the feeling that i almost caused irreversible harm to my grandson. front doors should unlock when you open the back doors. i take ownership for my mistake. please make chrysler take ownership for your design flaw.

While backing vehicle out of driveway, i stop and change gears from reverse to drive and hear a clunking sound. our roadway and driveway is not on an incline and i did completely stop. this incident has happened a total 3 times in the past 3 months. took the van to the dealership where we bought it and was advised that this was normal for this brand vehicle. i can also feel the gears shift while driving but slowing down. the van is 1 year old and i already don't feel comfortable about it. thank you.

Air bag light won't turn off on dashboard. dealership is unable to determine the problem. the light was deactivated one day, whereas it was turned off, but the next day after going over a bump in the road the light came on and it has been on constantly since. i am concerned that this problem will lead to more serious issues resulting in bodily harm.

When i purchased the minivan in march 2015, the airbag light appeared within hours of purchase and driving off the lot. the dealership had me bring the minivan back and they inspected it. the only explanation given was that it needed to be reset. now in june' 4 months later and still within warranty, the light came on again. i also noticed that the econ gas saver, when used shifts the van automatically, however, now it seems that even if i don't use the econ gas saver it shifts automatically. i was on the freeway and it downshifted automatically. i purchased the used minivan with 34,000 miles. i now have 44,000 miles. it's within the 60 month period and 75,000 mileage warranty i purchased for an extra 3000, but when i went to chrysler they sent back to the dealership where i purchased the van and when i went to the dealership, i was advised to take back to chrysler because it sounds like i have safety recall issues and those are covered by chrysler.. so bummed that the family van is a nicely packaged lemon.........

Recall notification code p25 ( from chrysler) power vent switch can overheat and cause fire. went to north point chrysler, winston salem, nc. with recall notice, only to be told they have a long list of owners to replace the switches but no parts. the receive a few each month. my concern would be that it overheats and burns before they get the switch in to replace. would i be correct that at that point if it happens chrysler will be responsible for the fire damage? knowing of this problem should chrysler provide loaner vehicle till the switch is made available ?

We purchased our new 2014 chrysler town and country mini van from our local chrysler dealer with two defective outboard rear seat headrests. the outboard attachment of the steel horseshoe shaped attaching rod to the seat frame is broken. returned vehicle to dealer after we discovered this condition for inspection and repairs on may 4, 2015. we had to leave the vehicle with the dealership due to a service department backlog. the dealer inspected the seat on may 6, 2015 and contacted us to tell us that we had done something to the seat to cause the headrest rods to break. we told the dealer that we disagreed and we went to the dealership to discuss there findings. there is no visual damage to the seat or the headrest, the seat is new, look like it did when we purchased the vehicle. we also was told that we must have damaged the headrest when we raised the seat from the seat well in the floor to the upright position. our service advisor mr. rashon perry got his service manager and we discussed the damage to the seat and he taken some digital pictures of the damage to the seat and told us that he would submit them to chrysler for review and get back to us in 2 to 3 days. did no happened. called dealership on may 14, 2015 and asked our service advisor mr. perry for and update, never answered the page from the front desk. asked to be transferred to the service managers (john ?) and left a message on his answering machine asking for an update on the status of repairing our seat. no return call to date. we understand that there is a federal motor vehicle safety standard that requires the headrest to prevent a passengers head from whiplashing during a 35 mph rear or front crash. chrysler could have other vehicle in the publics hands with these defectives seats headrest. we need help in getting this very serious issue addressed. please help us.

The vehicle's engine light came on while driving. it began to loose power, shake, and sputter. it felt like it was going to cut off at the speed of 43mph. i took it to the dealer on 5/16/15, they indicated that there was a code that indicated that there was a misfire and that they had cleared it. i drove the car home and the engine light came back on and the problems resumed. i returned to the dealership where they indicated that they asked if i was aware that they needed to "take the engine a part"? i stated that they needed to do what was necessary to fix my vehicle. the service representative also indicated that my vehicle was out of warranty but because i purchased an extended warranty i should be covered. i am unclear as to why i would have engine problems in a vehicle at 57k miles, this should also be a power train issue which would mean that my vehicle should be covered for 100k miles. currently i am still waiting on the dealership to contact me regarding the status of my vehicle however i am disappointed that i am having these problems and have been without transportation for three days.

I got into the car which had been parked on a hill. the front of the vehicle faced upward. i turned on the engine and put my foot on the brake. I bought a 2014 chrysler town and country in august 2014. i took the van in for a squealing noise 20 days after i bought the vehicle sat there for an hour at the dealership and then they come to tell me they could not hear the noise. the van stop making the noise in october 2014 however it almost cost me and children our lives. we were driving down a very busy highway where we live and the engine stalled and just quit lost all power i was able to get out of the road thank goodness or we would have been smashed because it was 8:00 a.m. work traffic. i then called the dealership right away and made an appointment to bring the van in to have it seen about. i took the van in and was called a few days later and they told me they could not duplicate the issue very frustrating. my van has stalled several more times after that and has been at the dealership for 3 weeks now and they still say they cannot find the issue. also, i was in the parking lot of a store and turned into a parking place and the engine just shut off it took several minutes for it to start back up. i have contacted chrysler on this matter and they go with what the service department says and if they cannot duplicate the issue they tell me to come get it. i am now going to turn this over to the lemon law department because i do not feel safe in this vehicle that was purchased new and only has 7,000 miles on it. not to mention this is the second brand new vehicle i have purchased from this place and the first one the transmission went out at 6,000 miles. i need some help someone please advise me on what i need to do. also, i have wrote a letter to chrysler stating the problems i am having and certified mailed it and the only response i got was i will send to someone else. *tr

The accelerator jammed at full throttle as we were making a right turn. there was nothing depressing the accelerator, but the engine was racing at full speed. the light was red, so i was forced to used the brakes to keep from hitting the car stopped at the light in front of us. the brakes weren't going to hold the vehicle back for long, so i shifted into neutral and turned off the engine. when i turned it back on the accelerator was still stuck at full throttle. only after turning it off a second time, completely removing the key from the ignition, waiting for all the lights on the control panel to dim, and restarting it did the accelerator return to normal. chrysler insists that it was the floor mat depressing the accelerator, but there wasn't anything in the way of or jamming the pedal at all. it was free and clear. the vehicle smelled very hot and a red lightning bolt immediately flashed with and oil change due now indicator. *tr

There was a re-call for my vehicle. something to do with the rear window switch catching fire. i brought it to my chrysler dear for a service and to resolve the recall issue. i was quite surprised to hear there was no fix and all they could so was dis-connect the switch. when i asked when they expect the fix to be ready, they laughed and said the last re-call took over a year. how can this happen? how does a vehicle manufacturer not have a fix for a problem that can cause a fire in a vehicle? isn't that the reason for the re-call to get the problem fixed? these re-calls are becoming to frequent and the auto manufacturers have decided it cheaper to not fix the problem and inconvenience the vehicle owners. *tr

While out of town (200 miles from home) and stopping for a brake, i exited the car. i retrieved some personal belongings and accidentally put my hand on the door lock switch. while closing the door, i noticed that the key fob was still on the console, but it was too late to stop the door from closing. despite statements in the manual that with a keyless ignition system, it was not supposed to be possible to lock the door with the fob inside, the doors remained locked. the horn did not beep and the doors did not unlock in accordance with the manual. eventually, i located the chrysler service number through google on my cell phone and called for assistance. chrysler called for a service truck to see whether it was possible to gain entry into the car. after about an hour from locking the door, a service truck arrived and the operator was able to unlock the door. if i had not had a cell phone, there would have been no way to either search or make a "help" call. more importantly, had our grandchildren been with us, they would have been locked in a relatively hot, vehicle and we would have had to break a window so they could escape. the person on the chrysler line seemed to have no interest in the problem other than to call a service truck. this is not the first time i've had a problem with the electrical door locking system. previously, i'd made 3 complaints to the dealer regarding a failure of the driver sliding door to lock. i even sent the dealer a video of the door lock failing to properly operate (i still have the video and emails to the dealer). chrysler should be required to warn all purchasers that their system, on occasion, does not prevent the doors from locking while the fob remains in the car. they should also be required to inform all owners of any smart phone application which would unlock the doors. *tr

We rented a 2014 chrysler town and country to drive to florida with our 2 year old son. while driving 68 mph, my husband's knee hit the key, which turned the engine off as well as all power to the minivan. luckily, traffic was light and we were able to coast over to the emergency lane without incident. the experience was extremely scary and unnerving. i am not looking forward to the return trip home due to this. the key being able to come loose is unacceptable and does not make one feel safe while driving. with all the ignition switch recalls, my mind is not as ease in this minivan and makes me fear for our safety. there should be a locking mechanism to prevent this from happening. i will not be recommending this vehicle to family and friends. this is by far one of the scariest things i've experienced. *tr

This is not an accident. this is a safety concern regarding the engine starting/stop button when operating the vehicle using the start/stop button you can exit the vehicle with the engine running without any type of warning signal that the engine is still running such as a warding chime horn beep or a vibration on the key fob. it is easy to forget to press the stop button when leaving the vehicle.as we have experienced several times. the dangerous concern with this lack of a safety notification is the car can be left running in an enclosed garage spreading deadly carbon monoxide through a home. or having a car stolen while fueling the car or doing things that would leave the car unlocked. if i place the start/stop button the accessory position the horn beeps and the headlights flash and the interior lights flash. these warnings will stay on for several minutes. but not if the engine is running. interesting fact is that other manufactures such as honda and kia do have warning sounds to remind the driver to stop the engine. the chrysler dealer is not concerned and a phone call to chrysler customer indicated they are not concerned but a memo would be sent to some place. this should be corrected before people die from co poisoning or a car jacking. *tr

Subject vehicle (2014 chrysler town and country van, vehicle 2) was involved in collision accident with 2005 ford mustang (vehicle 1). vehicle 1 pulled out from a stop sign to turn left onto 4 lane thoroughfare with a large truck turning right onto street where vehicle 1 was stopped. vehicle 1 driver's view of traffic was hindered by turning truck. vehicle 2 was in the inside lane passing the truck. vehicle 2's right front corner collided with left front corner of vehicle 1 at full vehicle speed since driver of vehicle 1 did not see vehicle 2 pulling out around truck in time to brake. vehicle 2 driver side steering wheel airbag, driver side knee airbag and passenger side airbag all deployed. driver was the only person in vehicle 1. driver of vehicle 1 sustained extensive abrasions and bruising of both legs from the knees down and of one foot from the force of the knee airbag. the knee airbag also prevented the driver from pressing on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle since the airbag was between her feet and vehicle brake pedal. the vehicle traveled 3-4 car lengths crossing into the oncoming lanes before coming to a stop against the curb on the opposite side of the street. the knee airbag appears to be a safety issue causing more injury than what would have been sustained without it and also hindering driver access to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. the steering wheel airbag deployment did not cause any bruising or noticeable injury to the driver other than minor soreness in the chest. the passenger side airbag also deployed and broke the front windshield. *tr

From an half hour of picking up my car and getting it home i have had a severe safety problem to where the sliding door either doesn't close all the way or if it does it makes a clicking noise as if try to latch close. called dealer right of way brought it back next day said the computer for door needed to be updated(really brand new car) worked while i was there got home later that day happened again dealer looked have to change module waited for part to come got it back still happening now dealer said latch needed to be adjusted so they did got it back still happening. got a chrysler case manager they are doing nothing all i asked was to switch car out so none of my kids fall out and get hurt or possibly die no one wants to help stuck with a defective vehicle for the next 3 years. never again will i get chrysler or recommend one. hopefully no one falls out or they will be in a lot of trouble. *tr

Was driving on highway. my knee touched the key ring. vehicles engine shut off. brakes lost power. had a very difficult time steering and getting vehicle stopped on highway. had to get it in park to restart car. *tr

I rented a town and country from enterprise. drove 2,000 miles from pa to fl. on the way back while driving on the highway the ignition got disconnected briefly and came back after 1-2 seconds. at that time i didn't realize how dangerous it could be (we had no accident nor injury at all) but now i see that this could be linked to the gm ignition recall (does this vehicle have the same ignition supplier as gm?). please investigate the case as this may indicate that the ignition recall should also include some chrysler vehicles as well. *tr

While getting on the highway the gas pedal was pressed to full and exhaust smell or a gas smell was witnessed in the back seat. after several deliberate times of pressing the gas to full every time the same smell was witnessed in the back seats of the vehicle. vehicle is six months old and is going to be going to the dealer asap. *tr

My 2014 t&c has a problem with the tpms. it shows that i have low pressure all the time. there was a recall for this (p63 nhtsa 14v-632) but the dealer says my vin is not covered. i have the exact problem and model year so come on.

The passenger side active headrest exploded (luckily just after we got out of the car). there was not a accident that triggered it. the car was parked in our driveway. the engine was turned off. upon researching i see many complaints of this same issue. this needs to be recalled!

While driving on the hwy suddenly i felt the steering very hard and i am losing speed. i pulled to the side of the hwy which was very hard, hard to stop (no brakes). i asked my mechanic and he told me to put in park or neutral and start the car, after it happened 2 more time, so two weeks after the last one i took it to the dealer but he could not replicate the problem. no repairs made and i am very scared to drive. *tr
