2013 NISSAN Rogue

Car stalls and will not accelerate.

The CVT TRANSMISSION went out and needed replacement. Nissan will take no responsibility over its knowingly faulty transmission. I’m forced to pay 4,800 to purchase a rebuilt cvt transmission from nissan. Get this the same faulty model!!!

Bolts broke on left front tire on the highway. I lost my steering and brakes. It looks like there is damage to the steering columm.We could have been badly injured.

Driving from yuma to san diego doing 70 to 80 miles per hour until i hit the hills. i reduced my speed to 65 and set my cruise control. never had a/c on it was still cool, before noon. half-way through the hills i lost acceleration and cruise control shut-off. rest of the way through the hills was in the slow lane/emergency lane going 25 to 30 miles per hour. finally made it through the hills but by the time i was able to exit i8 i was going 20 then 15 then 10 miles per hour. after an hour of letting the car sit i started again put in in reverse and that's as far as i got. i had no power at all in "d" or "l", had to have it towed 51 miles. obviously nissan has a problem with the rogue model after reading other complaints on carcomplaints.com.

Cvt transmission is failing. vehicle is shuddering and lurched during acceleration. first incident occurring on uphill climb on interstate. immediately had to exit interstate as the vehicles speed dropped dramatically in traffic with other vehicles present. car manual explains that the vehicle does not need to be towed to dealership in this condition.

Driver's door will not unlock at all. it will not unlock manually with the key nor will it unlock by pressing the inside unlock button on drivers door. all other doors will unlock. if involved in accident or need emergency assistance i will be trapped inside the vehicle.

I was driving in the morning, on a somewhat busy road that acts as a small two lane highway that leads to the freeway, and all of a sudden it felt like i had gotten a flat tire and was driving on the rim. no sounds, just dramatic loss of power. i was able to pull over on a very narrow shoulder. inspected tires and all were perfectly fine. i waited a few, turned car on which started just fine. put car into gear but absolutely no engagement!! nothing. with foot pedal to the floor, just didn’t move. rpm’s were normal along with speed odometer. this was not only a scary situation to be in knowing that while in motion this vehicle lost all ability to function but a huge safety concern for me and others. i truly hope this doesn’t happen anymore! something needs to be done about this. not okay nissan not okay

I believe the transmission is no good

We bought a used nissan rogue and had it two days when we had no power at stop lights and the check engine light came on we went to auto zone and the ran the tester on it and came back with lots of issues with the transmission. we live pay check to pay check we can't afford a new transmission. please tell me how to fix this problem. i'm reading alot about nissans transmissions. please fix these there needs to be a recall for the transmissions. i promise i or no one i know will ever buy a nissan again. *tr

I have a 2013 nissan rogue select with 87,000 miles. it shudders/jerks intermittently during idle at drive mode even when ac and fan are off. upon driving to austin in february, my car began to lose power on a highway with 70 mph limit. the rpm continued to g up , as did the gas gage. i was not able to accelerate. luckily , i was near an exit and able to coast off to barely make it to the gas station, to allow the car to cool. the temperature gage, never ran hot. then just last week making the same trip, the same issue, but this time the check engine light came on. this is a dangerous situation where i could be killed, or kill someone else because i am not able to move at the required speed. i thin took it to a nissan dealer and was told it was the transmission. i filed a complaint with nissan headquarters. someone name jeremy called me a couple of days later only to say that the warranty had expired and there was nothing he could do. i even mentioned the class action suit that he said he knew nothing about. this is a defective factory issue and should have been recalled. i do not have the money, nor should i have to pay for something that was an issue that they knew about. i am including pictures of the repairs. i can provide the whole report, but i do not have a scanner at the moment. also the firm brandsetter, straanch and jennings in tennessee has a class action suit. please investigate this. someone is going to be killed, lets not allow it to get to this point. thanks.

Purchased vehicle left lot, it drove fine on the highway. as we were exiting the highway, waiting at a red light, the vehicle started vibrating and rumbling. the check engine goes on and off and the passenger seatbelt light doesn’t go off when the belt is clicked.

My gears started slipping. it wasnt safe to drive but my engine light didnt come on until a week later. revs up to 6 or 7 before struggling to get up to speed.

This vehicle hesitates when accelerating which can be a deadly hazard when crossing an intersection or anywhere driving. this problem is very dangerous and nissan needs to repair this potentially deadly problem.

While traveling on highway at 60 mph my daughter turned off cruise control to pass another vehicle and accelerated to pass then returned to the right lane and turned cruise back on. when she did this the vehicle slowed down to about 40mph. she was near an exit so she took it and as she was climbing the hill on the exit the car had lost so much power she was going about 5mph. she made it up the exit and pulled the car over and shut it off. she waited a few minutes and started it again and the car would not move at all until she got it up to about 5000 rpm and then it was only inching forward a little. she let the car sit for about 4 hours and towed it home but by then the vehicle started up and rode up the trailer ramp and then back down the ramp when she got it home just like it was normal.

The cars passenger airbag light will stay illuminated as off when no one or nothing is in the seat. this light should go off within 7 seconds of the car turning on. and when an adult passenger of adequate size gets in the seat it may or may not remain off. this means that the airbag may not deploy if needed because the ocs sensor is not properly registering the weight of the passenger. the passenger seatbelt light will also remain on after a passenger exits the vehicle as if someone is still seating there and needs to apply the seatbelt. another fault of the ocs sensor. the car has been stationary and in motion when this occurs. this is a major safety issue. i have contacted nissan and been told that my car is out of warranty and there is nothing they can do at this time. other rogue model years and nissans in general have been recalled for this same issue yet nothing has been done for the 2013 rogue. i was told that i need a new seat at a value of $2600-$3000. this is clearly a nissan issue not a customer issue. it needs to be recalled and fixed. t

Driving on highway us-90 coming home from new orleans to gulfport. my cars cruise control had stopped working 45 mintues to an hour after i got onto us-49 my check light came on i pressed my accelerate pedtal to the floor an the only thing it did was raise my rpms to almost 6. me an my child in the back seat were almost hit in the rear by an 18 wheeler because my vehicle had trouble with the transmission. when i got back to gulfport ms i stop at a auto-zone an they put it on the digital device an 3-4 codes came up the turque converter was bad in my car. i know from reading on the internet bulletins that nissan is aware of the problem an hasnt done anyting about it.

Transmission went out

The vehicle is not shifting correctly on highway or city, the rpms fluctuate when hitting the gas and and speed does not match the rpms. which getting to 60mph the car starts to shake and will down shift and which makes the vehicle harder to accelerate and in some cases wont accelerate at all even with the rpms continuing to raise. i have gotten it looked at by certified mechanics and the said they cannot tell the issue especially with no warning lights and no faulty codes. when sitting at a stand still the rpms continue to raise over 2000 even with the vehicle in park.

My car's front passenger side airbag light is on for the last few days. also the passenger seat belt sign is off as well. my vehicle park in the driveway most of the time. i drive around only for groceries.

I have had problems with this car since the first week i bought it. if it's not one thing it's another. engine problems, oil leaking problems. check engine light coming on whenever. possible oil burning problem. spark plugs, piston rings, axles, cylinders, mounts. this car is in the shop every other 2-3 weeks. now it's been in the shop for a month+. it's is crazy that a dealership would sell this vehicle to a customer. there's even this thuddering noise. things have been fixed and something else went wrong. it's been non stop repairs since day one. it also seems that 2013 nissan rogues and had many manufacturer problems and issues. i feel this was damaged car that was never reported and then someone fixed a few fake things and then resold it know this car was no good. when i drive it makes a loud thudder noise, the steering is not smooth. also one night my car completely stopped when i tried to reverse and red light came on.

I have had one problem after another and this started right after purchase. a/c compressor went out first, driving down the road, cost $600 to fix. after that, the blower motor burned up while warming up one morning. i started smelling burned plastic, $300 repair. 6 months later, i am spending $4000 to replace the burned up transmission. i went into fail-safe mode while i was attempting to make a turn against traffic. then i could smell something burned after driving.now i have just spent another $500 on a new battery and cables and new alternator, only to hear my vehicle still not starting. as i write this, i'm waiting for a call from firestone to now tell me what's wrong with my car and how much this will cost! it is only february, and i have already used my 2 weeks vacation because my car is undriveable. meanwhile, i still have 2 yrs left on my auto loan agreement. please help us 2013 nissan rogue victims

Vehicle will not get up to speed when driven for a 45 minute period of time and won't allow me to pick.up to state speed i noticed there's been complaints about this issue due to a low temperature governor on the vehicle and that makes it dangerous for the other people traveling due to that issue i was on the interstate 25 traveling south

The interior handle on the rear passenger door does not allow the door to be opened; the door can only be opened from the outside handle. there is a component on the inside (hidden when looking at the door handle) that is broken. this is a safety issue in an emergency, as the backseat passenger must rely on someone to open their door in order to exit the car. the handle opened until about a year of use; we were in park, the engine was off, and we realized the rear door couldn't be opened from the interior. ever since, this door can only be opened from the outside handle. the door handle has not been abused; this resulted from normal use.

Car lost response to acceleration on three occasions from stopped status. car had been driven approximately 30 minutes on highway. third incident was while turning left through busy intersection on 4+ lane city street. car had been taken to dealer who could not find problem three days prior to third occurrence.

I have a 2013 nissan rogue that the transmission just died on me. the car has 103 k miles and died on me in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway. i was doing 70 mph and the car speed dropped to less than 5 mph. i had my foot on the pedal for a good minute but the car won't go over 5 mph. i finally managed to safely get out of the highway and the car just died on the side of road. towed the car to the nissan dealer and was told the cvt transmission needs repaired. they know that older models were covered under a nissan extended warranty for the cvt transmission,but my 2013 rogue was not covered and there was nothing they can do. this car is dangerous to drive. the speed on this car should not just drop from 70 mph to 5 mph in a matter of seconds, it is dangerous. nissan is aware of this problem but won't admit it. can someone please look into this. there's a lot of people out there driving this cars and not know how dangerous they are. nissan needs to fix this issue before someone loses their life over this.

I was slowing down to turn right at a traffic light and when i went to excelerate the car stalled and it came to an abrupt stop. it started up right away but it scared me. it wasn't that hot. it was around 10:00 pm in las vegas at the end of may 2017. it happened once before that but i don't remember the date.

On june 17, 2017 while driving in california on the highway, the rogue began to slow down and not maintain speed. the rogue was driving smoothly and all of sudden it slowed down from 75-80 mph to 60 mph . i pushed the gas pedal all the way to floor and even turned on my overdrive button with no luck. this issued lasted for several miles until it just started working again. this problem continued off and on for the entire trip to and from california . there was even multiple instances where the rogue would not excelerate after stopping at a stop light . i pushed the gas medal to the floor and it would move more than 5-10 mph for several hundred feet until it worked again. we have owned this vehicle for 3 years now and haven't had a problem until now. we live in arizona with extreme heat and i have read other people's posts about heat could be a problem, however we see extreme temperatures every year since we owned it with no problems until now.

Loss of acceleration on interstate and inner city driving. complete loss of speed control, pressing the pedal to the floor has no effect. extremely dangerous when this occurs. has been happening since 40,000 miles. i fear for the lives of my passengers, especially children and will no longer use this vehicle with them inside.

While this is not a safety issue per say, if we can't get you to help with this issue then who can we turn to? a quick online search of "2013 nissan rogue paint problems" will reveal a number of consumer complaints related to just one color of the car, pearl white. i too am having this issue now and it seems unreasonable to me that nissan hasn't acknowledged this problem and issued a voluntary recall. some people have had the issue fixed, some have not. the difference being their willingness to fight for it. as consumers, we should not have to "fight" for an apparent manufacturer defect to be resolved. paint chipping in large pieces the way it is, is a lot more than an environmental issue, especially since it is not hard to see that people all over the country are experiencing the same problem. improper paint leads to rust and rust leads to bigger problems. won't you be a voice for us and help us get this resolved? thanks!

I had stopped briefly to pay a toll and when i was ready to drive the car hesitated and the rpm went to 4 and it started to go slowly then the engine light came on. drove slowly to nearest repair shop and the codes that came up were p0744 and p1740. had to tow my vehicle home at the cost of $360.

Complete loss of acceleration! ! almost caused a wreck!! very dangerous. no codes. me ring onto interstate and lost acceleration. had it towed to shop couldn't get issue to duplicate. on way home it did it again. still no code.

Failed cvt transmission on a vehicle i have owned less than 4 years. vehicle was moving at 70mph when it began to lose speed and rpms increased. by the time i was able to safely exit the interstate i was moving at 20mph and over 4000rpms. mechanic has confirmed the transmission needs to be replaced, as is common with this vehicle.

While driving on 101 north passing through santa rosa, ca on may 29, 2017 going the highway speed limit of 65mph, my 2013 nissan rogue was struggling to get up a small incline when the mph suddenly dropped to 30 and i could not get the car to go any faster. the road was packed with cars as it was memorial day weekend. i had 3 children in my car. we barely made it over to the shoulder when the car completely went dead. it was absolute sheer luck that there was no accident. cars were swerving all around me to avoid hitting me. i was in the far left lane and had to cross over 2 other lanes (going 30 mph on the highway) to get to the shoulder. my car is only 3 years old and has 85,000 miles on it. my dealer said "this type of problem is common" with this model. i googled "2013 rogue cvt transmission problems" and found hundreds of similar complaints: this happens on the highway, at highway speeds. this does not seem to happen on surface roads. this is very, very dangerous. the company was besieged with cvt complaints and fixed their 2010 and 2011 models, but this problem is still happening with all subsequent rogue models. people need to know about this.

As with many years before , the nissan rogue has had transmission safety issues.while driving in the left lane on rt. 95 in florida the vehicle (once hot) almost completely shuts down. the power is all but lost , forcing us to get off the roadway before we are hit at highway speeds from behind.this has happened on several occasions over the past two years. dealer says faulty transmission is to blame and must be replaced. i'm in the process of having the trans. replaced now .i feel that since nissan has known about this issue for 10 years now, a recall should have happened long before this and prior to someone being seriously injured or worse.please advise ..

Cvt transmission fails during acceleration at intersections; transmission fails when going uphill and starts rapidly de-accelerating putting vehicle at risk of being rear-ended; even on level highway, nissan rogue will start losing acceleration putting vehicle at risk of accident and injury/death to passengers. totally unpredictable and unreliable.

The cvt (variable transmission) is losing power on the highway and i was suddenly unable to go any faster. this is very unsafe. the transmission went into "safe mode" due to overheating. this is a known issue by nissan as they gave an extended warranty for this same issue to all 2008 to 2010 rogue owners. however they no longer provide this and instead their fix is to charge for a different trans oil cooler for this 2013 model. if the cvt is still having issues the fix should be covered by nissan not me.

Driving down interstate 75 on a trip. cvt transmission started whining and no matter how hard i pressed on the gas car would not increase speed. vehicle does not have 80,000 miles. repair technician said he has seen several problems with valve body over heating and cvt transmission coolant mixing with transmission fluid. called nissan corporate and had a case opened. claim was denied saying they have no recalls or problems with cvt of the rogue vehicle. driving anywhere especially on a major interstate with this issue is a serious safety issue.

Car loses acceleration on warm days and driving on the highway for 30 minutes plus. pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate only causes rpm's to increase but the mph of the vehicle does not. after pulling the vehicle over and given a chance to cool down, normal operations resume until the fluids in the cvt drive heater up again. this has happened several times and is very dangerous. if you are in a bad position on the highway and need to accelerate for some reason anc cannot, this can be a very dangerous situation.

Transmission "slips ? " during highway driving.the vehicle slows drastically and suddenly without warning causing a risk of getting hit from behind. must pull over to the side of the road quickly.feel very unsafe using this vehicle on the highway.i've noticed on the nissan blog , that this has been an ongoing problem for almost a decade without a recall. please help..

Vehicle lost all acceleration on a busy highway - very dangerous.

Bought this 2013 rogue about 18 months ago. i travel for work so i have put alot of miles in a short time. i have had all the maintenance done by a local shop. recently on a long four hour drive on the interstate. the car would not shift down and went into its safe mode. i could not even get it to back out of a slanted parking lot that i had pulled in to drop my wife off. i had to let it cool for 30 minutes. i took it to the dealer today and they said it was a known problem with these cvt transmissions and it would need a transmission cooler and valve block installed. they quoted me a cost of $2600.00 for the repair. i think this is ridiculous that i should be charged this when there own service technician stated that nissan has released several faulty transmissions and it is hard to get nissan to do anything about it. i tried calling the nissan affairs. they are suppose to call me back but from everything i have read i do not think they will do anything.

Was traveling down the highway on cruise control and it keep turn off. i pressed down on the accelerator the car does not accelerate no matter what!!! and that's when the cars behind me start honking, cussing me but there's nothing i can do

Transmission oil cooler is needed to prevent the transmission cvt oil to stay cool so it does not go into fail safe mode here in the texas heat. after about 2 hours of driving in 90 plus weather the vehicle shuts power. it is unfortunate timing when in traffic and you have no power and you have to pull over without getting hit to put the vehicle in park and shut it down to reset the safe mode.

When i start my car it makes a rattling sound as if something is hitting the ground. after i drive for almost 45 mins on highway my car speed will all of a sudden come down from 70 mph to 20 mph and then it wont accelerate even. i was about to be hit by a truck on the highway, but somehow i managed to move the car in the buffer. i stood there for 20 - 30 mins and drove again, it was somehow moving. also if i am uphill the car wont move it will tend to go back. when i tried to accelerate the rpm was reaching till 4 or more, but the car will not move at all. another incident happened was i was waiting at a red signal. i was the first one in the line, as the signal became green, i removed my legs from brake, the car wont move at all. even tried to accelerate it somehow was able to reach only till the center of the signal when the signal changed to red. i was in a panic situation, i somehow dragged it to the other side. all this happened only within 2 weeks i bought the car from a nissan dealer (it was an used car). i took it to the delaer for inspection, they checked my car and gave me error code p0744 (torque converter) and said it can be resolved only by changing the complete transmission and would cost around 5400 dollars. when i asked why they didn't check during safety check in first place before selling the car, they gave me an answer like they cannot find issues in car until its driven on road. not sure what kind of safety checks the dealers perform then. i could have met with an accident due to this. when i asked them for fixing this they said i should have bought a warranty and its my fault i didn't buy a warranty, and they gave me a car as-is. i told them it was not the question about giving me a car as-is, i wanted to know what kind of security testing they do before giving a car, when they gave as is why they didn't mention about such issues. please help

There is am acceleration issue with this car. when traveling 70 mph on the highway the rpms will go up to 4000 pr higher and lose acceleration. i went from 70 mph to less than 30 mph within seconds on a hill. once i got to the top of the hill to where i could safely pull over to the side of the highway i turned the car off. i had to leave it off for at least 10 mins before i got the acceleration power back. if i tired before that it wouldnt accelerate even with the pedal to the floor. i have read a lot of complaints on this and nothing is being done. i was told it is the cvt transmission. i have only had this car for less than 2 years and it only has 76000ish miles on it. this issue has happened to me not once, twice, three times but five times now on the highway since reaching 60000+ miles on the car!! this is absolutely ridiculous and a major safety concern that needs to be recalled and addressed. i have 3 kids and if i get into a crash because of this i will be suing nissan for this faulty issue!!!!

2013 nissan rogue...after about 40 mins of consistent highway driving the car loses acceleration power and the rpm's jump into 5000+. the only way to "correct" the issue is to pull the car over, turn it off for a few minutes and then restart the car. extremely unsafe driving conditions! i took the car to executive nissan in ct and was told there was an internal failure in the cvt transmission. executive said the issue can't be fixed due to the physical set up of the transmission and the only option is to replace the entire transmission. obviously the car is less than 4 years old and to have to replace an automatic transmission after that short period of time and less than 100,000 miles is utterly ridiculous. that being said, the major concern is the safety issue it causes to not only my family but to the other families on the road as well. after researching this issue on-line it is very clear that nissan has issues with it's cvt transmissions, specifically the rogue and altima. at one point there have been recalls and/or extended warranties issued because of this problem. i'm not really sure how nissan can continue to put vehicles on the road with known safety issues. to make matters worse they do nothing to correct the issue once its reported to their consumer affairs division. i was simply dismissed and told "this decision is final". the reason given to me was simply because i was over the factory warranty of 60,000 miles. imagine in this day and age of technology that a major vehicle component like a transmission is only "guaranteed" for 60,000 miles. this is a very serious issue and should be corrected immediately!!

My car makes a loud rattling noise when i accelerate, it does not matter up hill down hill every time i put my foot on the gas you can hear me coming down the st, if i take my foot off the gas it stops but its been doing it since i bought the car 3 years ago but now its much worse and the fact that the dealer wants 500 just to look at it is killing my pockets. then i see that i am not the only person with this problem. please help.

August 2nd 2016 i bought my car from farris mottor in jefferson city tn in oct/nov 2016 to deliver mail in. the conversion kit put into my car did not modify the engine or transmission in any way therefore my warranty was not voided. the car ran well for about 6 months then one day on route in a level ground neighborhood i was driving down the street servicing the mailboxes, i stopped at one and when i went to speed back up my car wouldn't accelerate. i had the gas pedal to the floor and the car would barely move. the rpm's didn't even rev up, it was just silence, then after a few seconds my car would pick up and move. this went on for the rest of the day and everyday after that. it is worse when going up hill, instead of it picking up and moving after a few seconds it doesn't move and instead starts to roll backwards. all this also happens in reverse and still no rpm's. so i took it to farris about three times and got nothing out of them, and when i took it to the nissan dealership they said according to my warranty any work to the vehicle or even doing diagnostics would have to be approved by farris which they did not. so i went back to farris again and had a tech ride with me so i could replicate what was going on. he observed and agreed with what was happening but said he didn't believe it was the transmission but it had something to do with the engine. and he also seemed to blame my profession for the way the car is acting due to the way i drive but if that were true then everyone at the post office would be having the same problems with their vehicles, sorry but that's not the case. please look into this because my car is my main priority to take care of my family. here is a link of other people who have had this problem with this vehicle. http://m.carcomplaints.com/nissan/rogue/2013/engine/engine.shtml

The 2013 nissan rogue was built without having a coolant valve on the transmission. i can be driving down the road and all of a sudden the rpm on my car with begin going very high and the speedometer will never move all the while i am pressing the gas down to the floor. the car is going almost only 20 or 30 miles per hour at this point. i am not going up a hill or going very fast i usually only travel about 60 or 65 mph. it makes a whining sound and will not accelerate. i did take this issue up with my local nissan dealership and they said what is happening is since there is no valve to keep the transmission cool then it overheats and loosing acceleration is a kind of way of "self-diagnosing" and attempting to cool down-due to there not being a valve on the car during manufacturing. i do indeed have an extended warranty for 100,000 miles up to 5 years, but they said they can not pay for the part because it was not on the car when it was made. they said they will not pay for parts to be put on the car. on november 25, 2015 nissan put out a service bulletin on how to put the part on and are well aware that rogues from 2008-2013 do not have this valve. i feel very unsafe that my car could lose acceleration at any point-and it has on the interstate, highway, and many other places. nissan states that the rogue had everything on it it was supposed to, but they can't tell me how they can put a bulletin out on how to fix this issue and they know this issue needs to be fixed, but then won't pay for the issue. i really feel there needs to be some type of recall on a car that does not have the proper valve on it to keep it from overheating. that sounds like a real safety issue to me, a single mother who works and travels with 2 small children.

When the car warms up the vehicle will not accelerate past 40mph or climb small hills greater than 40 mph. vehicle will act normally but when you get off the freeway, it loses power and will not accelerate. big safety issue when traveling on highway and you need speed to pass or even keep up with traffic. found online that this is a common problem and i believe there needs to be a recall for safety concerns

2013 nissan rouge. consumer writes in regards to transmission overheats and causes vehicle to decelerate while in motion. dealership advised an additional coolant was necessary to control the transmission temperature. *smd the consumer stated while driving 70 mph, the cruise control shut off and the vehicle decelerated to zero.

Cvt transmission over heats and causes engine to go into limp mode at times of heavy traffic on interstate or hills when ambient temperature is above 85f. has created a dangerous situation in traffic where i have had difficulty getting to slow lane. i believe it's a safety hazard. contacted nissan and they do not want to acknowledge the problem. this vehicle has had this problem since new. i've reported the problem many times to dealers. consumer affairs was contacted, with no resolution.

The front passenger side door was closed from the outside while the vehicle was at a stop. when the door latched all side airbags (curtain and in seat) deployed. there was no collision. there was minor damage to the front passenger side door, which appeared to be a "door ding" that had occurred approximately 8 weeks prior to the incident involving the airbags. it was purely cosmetic no repair was sought. car was towed to dealer after air bags deployed.

While driving on the freeway, the car lost all acceleration and power, causing the vehicle to drop its speed to below 10 mph. we were unable to move the vehicle off the freeway due to lack of a shoulder, when we finally were able to get safely off the freeway, the car smelled of burning transmission fluid. after the car sat for 30 minutes, we were able to make a speed of no more than 25 mph to the nearest town. we took the car to our local nissan dealer and was told that there is a know cvt transmission problem in as where the transmission oil was overheated causing the car to go into safe mode. nissan issued a service bulletin for this problem and the fix is to have a transmission oil cooler installed at a cost of $1200.00, in which we have to pay. this has been a known issue on this vehicle with this transmission since before 2009. we were almost hit on numerous occasions from the rear by vehicles that were approaching us at 60 mph.

Traveling via the interstate fro ky to ga at about 70 mph. vehicle lost power and would not accelerate beyond 35 mph. dangerous as other vehicles traveling at 70 mph or above came close to rear ending my vehicle. other vehicles dangerously tailgated. obvious recall issue as there is a history/pattern of this behavior in like vehicles and yet no recall issued, very disappointing!

Transmission failed at 62,135 miles. overheated. no prior problems or repairs. dealership recommendation is replace transmission and add a transmission cooler. sold in georgia operated in georgia and needs a transmission cooler to continue to operate in georgia?! escalated to nissan regional but will not cover the cost of the repair. nissan has had an endemic problem with prior years across multiple models with this exact problem with cvt. this is clearly a continuing design defect. vehicle lost power and speed suddenly on the interstate. almost in an accident as trucks ran up on the car till it could be pulled over safely.

Front belts retractors are locked, not allowing to adjust belts high.

With no warning no check engine light nothing one day i left for work and hardly had any acceleration turned around brought it back home. had to take it to nissan because it's a cvt and they informed me that my 2013 with 134000 miles and still owe $7000 on the transmission went. the "refurbished" transmission quote was $2400 just for the part. we live paycheck to paycheck and cant afford that so i contacted corporate nissan who did an "investigation" and denied that they were at fault for the faulty transmission. after doing some research i have seen several articles about complaints of loss of acceleration. this is a major safety hazard, like i said we had no warning at all.

I was merging onto the highway going ~50 mph. went to accelerate and the accelerater did not seem to have the same tension. then all lights came on the dash (check engine, oil, battery etc) then there was no acceleration. pulled to the shoulder, turned the car off, back on and everything seemed fine. cruise control was on, but not active as i was merging, and sport mode was on. since the incident when on cruise control i will feel the transmission 'slip' from time to time as well. however i could not recreate the issue of the car stalling.i called the dealer and they said if i could not recreate the problem, there was nothing they could do either. it looks like people are having similar problems and hopefully this can get resolved.

On our return trip from miramar beach, fl to our home in vestavia hills, al the car's speed abruptly reduced to approximately 45 mph after driving at approximately 60 mph on a state highway (for approximately 1 1/2 hours) but the vehicle would not respond to the accelerator other than to "vroom" when i pressed it with my foot. the problem with acceleration did not correct itself during the remaining 75 miles of the trip. we also smelled an odor like burned oil when we stopped. very dangerous as all other cars passed us on this alabama state highway and the subsequent distance on interstate-65. based on what we have read on the internet, including settlements of class action law suits and extended warranty awards for earlier model years, we believe the problem is related to the nissan's cvt transmission and it's factory settings.

The car starts to lag and decelerate when trying to go over 50mph..it sputters when sitting at red lights/stop signs. car only has 70,000 miles on it, and took it to mechanic today who stated it was the cvt and that its common with 2013-2016 models. there are so many complaints on these cvt transmisisons, its crazy that there hasn't been any recalls yet. there were lemon laws in other states protecting other nissan models for cvt issues , which have already expired, however there seem to be none for nissan rogue..i guess no recalls will be done until one of us dies..which is a shame..

Check engine light came on. rogue was sluggish with poor acceleration when i would go faster than 50 mph. vehicle had about 107,800 miles. it was determined the cvt (continuously variable transmission) is the problem, torque converter and left side axle were bad and had to be replaced. total cost was $3,942.58. this is a common issue for model year rogues from 2008 to 2016. however there are no recalls for my 2013 rogue and i checked my vin on nissan's website. i also spoke to a rep at nissan and she stated that my rogue is not on the list for any of the technical service bulletins and there are no recalls for my model year rogue. however she acknowledged that this is a common problem for 2013 rogues. however, i found a bulletin tsb ntb13-079d that the reduced performance is due to cvt fluid temperature protection logic re0f10a cvt transmission or a bad torque converter which requires the transmission to be replaced. this affects 2008 to 2013 nissan rogues tsb ntb14-002d.

At only 80,000 miles, the vehicle dangerously lost power while driving and inevitably would not allow the car to accelerate. upon being parked, the vehicle would start, but would immediately shudder and stall out when trying to move in drive or reverse. nissan has had countless complaints about the defective cvt transmission failing prematurely, and has issued warranty extensions on all other vehicles and years aside from the 2013 nissan rogue.

While driving on interstate with cruise set on 74 without warning car started to decelerate pushed pedal to the floor rpms went up but car would not go luckily i was able to make it to side of road, gages showed normal. turned engine off for a few minutes tried to merge back into traffic but car would not move, after sitting on highway in over 98 degree heat in south miss over an hour the car moved but would not go over 60 mph took several hours of having to stop after so many miles and letting it cool off i finally made it home. turned a normal 45 minute plesant drive into a 4 hour nightmare. it has happened numerous times since so i am paying a note on a car i cannot use when the weather is hot which in south mississippi is most of the year. can not afford to take to a mechanic but i have researched the problem however and found out it is a very common issue with this year car.

I've had numerous problems with this car. while driving with my family on the highway for over 1.5 hrs. the car would not accelerate above 60 mph. another time while highway driving on the oh turnpike 1 hour away from home i lost acceleration while going uphill and coasted to an area to stop. while i was stopped the car smoked and it would not start until after 30 minutes. i was able to make it to a mechanic who informed it may be my transmission and he advised to not go over 60 mph and to take the back roads home.

Transmission needs replaced due to cvt problems which nissan is aware of and has never issued a recall. some issues include: loud/whining noises when accelerating, difficulty accelerating, sudden loss of power, and increased rpm even when speed is decelerating.

When i accelerate i hear a wiring shortage of sorts. the horn blows and there's a hesitation in accelerating.

When driving my 2013 nissan rogue further than 30 miles going speeds of 60mph or greater the rpms race out of control, the car dangerously reduces speeds on freeway even while the accelerator is still pressed. i have to turn off car on the side of the freeway for 10-15 mins before trying to drive again, only to have the speeds reduce and rpms race out of control again. if you are trying to go up hill for a short distances or go up hill on entrances ramps, exit ramps, or up hill on bridges there is the same lag in transmission. the rpms race out of control and rogue dangerously reduces speeds. there is also a loud whining noise when you press accelerator beyond 60mph or going up hills, ramps, or bridges. i’m frustrated with nissan they know about this issues with this model 2013 nissan rogue. they’ve even extended the transmission warranty for 2008-2010 with the same issue just under a different name. they also acknowledge its a problem for models 2008-2013 through there 2015 nissan service bulletin. my frustration is nissan wants me to pay thousands for a known problematic safety issue with these models and years. but refuse to do so. if they can extend the cvt transmission warranty for the 2008-2010 they should also extend the ctv warranty for the 2013 model that’s having the same issues with the cvt sensor and valve. i’ve only had my 2013 rogue since 08/2019. the rogue was “fixed” once but all was done is transmission fluid was changed in 08/2019. now it’s one year later and same exact issues are occurring and they are refusing to fix again as a customer satisfaction.

During a 600 mile road trip on interstate and 2 lane highways, our 2013 nissan rouge began having acceleration issues after about 4 hours of driving. car would not accelerate past 60 mph even with gas pedal pushed all way. this would happen several more times. we found a mechanic in a small town who could not identify any specific problem. in a larger town the nissan dealership was closed so we took our car to the local tire and oil change to check fluids etc, no issues were found but we went ahead and had oil and filters changed. problem occurred one more time on our way to our destination. we did not travel on highways for a few days. about 5 hours on our way back home we had the same problem and could not accelerate on the interstate beyond 55 mph, even worse on hills. we pulled over and allowed car to rest for about 45 minutes. we managed to get home. this problem did occur once or twice over the years during daily city driving but never to this extent. our normal day to day driving does not require highway/freeway driving.

When driving on the highway (more than 70 mph) and the outside weather is hot (80 degrees fahrenheit or higher), the vehicle suddenly drops acceleration to 60 mph after about 1.5 hours of driving, and will not accelerate any faster than that. this has happened to me three times with this vehicle. extremely dangerous when driving on the interstate.

Vehicle transmission just stops acceleration loses power. was almost hit multiple times because vehicle just stops moving. interstate traveling is almost impossible. speed will drop 20+ mph and with peddle to the floor will not accelerate. date listed is today but problem has been for months now.

Driving for any distance 30-40 miles or more, the transmission fails. the vehicle starts to slow down while the rpm's rise and the transmission starts making a high pitched whining sound. the vehicle loses power and will not accelerate. this happens every time any trip of 30 miles or more is attempted, usually on the interstate. if the vehicle is allowed to sit, usually for 2 hours, the vehicle will start and operate normally for short distances. during the most recent event,.the vehicle had not traveled 30 miles when the transmission failed and during this episode when the transmission whined the engine/transmission started smoking. this has happened many times beginning approximately 2 years with the most recent event being 8/18/20, yet there are no recalls.

I was on the highway with no warning the car started to lose power. when i hit the gas the rpm went up but no power . fortunately i was able to pull off the highway and avoid getting hit. i turned the car off and back on the engine light came on but when put in drive /gear the car wouldn’t move . i had to have it towed to my home 30 minutes away. the mechanic looked at it, the code was for speed sensor. now looking for a mechanic to fix it . i easily could have been in an accident .

When driving the vehicle for 2 hours or more it looses speed. i was driving back from tenesse to chicago and it started loosing rpm. i started loosing speed and had issue going up hill. rpm wouldn't go higher than 2. i was in a 70 mile open road. eventually i had to pull over as i kept loosing speed. i googled the issue and saw complaints in sites about the same issue. i waited 10 minutes turned it on and it ran fine. 2 hours later i had the same issue. this is a risk especially for people who have families like myself.

After driving for several hours on the interstate the car started losing power and would not go above 60 mph

My transmission has started sounding as if i have a manual transmission instead of automatic. it acts as if it is waiting for the gear to be shifted at low speeds and high speeds. also, driving to austin last week, i notice that i was not able to accelerate past 60 on multiple occasions. i had no idea what the issue was. my mpg also flutters back and forth. after arriving back home i looked up so information and found out that there are numerous other rodgers owners with the same issue. if this is the case, i am confused as to why they are still selling them. and why there has not been a massive recall. had i known this, i would never have gotten this vehicle. if it is a known manufacturer if issue, the company should be fixing these problems. i will not stop until, i get my car fixed or money back.

My daughter was driving my car 4 days ago with heat about 90 degrees. the engine light came on and unable to accelerate even with foot on gas pedal. she was able to pull over and let the car rest for several hours and was able to get home safely. my local mechanic said code po744 torque converter clutch circuit needs repair. i brought to nissan dealership today and report no recalls (which i know is incorrect) as also 500,000 vehicles are affected. if nissan does not pay to fix these obvious cvt transmission defects, i will never purchase or recommend anyone waste a penny on this bs company. never again! why isn’t us protecting our consumers against this unacceptable product?!

Vehicle will decelerate on the highway with gas pressed to the floor. vehicle loses power and i have to pull over for the engine to "cool off" before proceeding. it happens on the highway. i took it to a nissan dealership and they told me i needed to replace my transmission. i don't even have 100,000 miles on my car, transmission should not be failing.

2 power doorlocks don't work. horn doesn't work. cruise control doesn't work. airbag light flashing . air conditioning went off same day airbag light started flashing. just started it up.

I have had trouble with the liftgate on this car for at least 2 years. i have had it to the dealership at least 5 times, and recently to an independent mechanic. no one has been able to rectify this problem. the liftgate has gone from intermittenly opening to now not opening at all. trunk is needed, what can i do?

We bought a used nissian rogue and had it two days when we had no power at stop lights and the check engine light came on we went to auto zone and the ran the tester on it and came back with lots of issues with the transmission. we live pay check to pay check we can't afford a new transmission. please tell me how to fix this problem. i'm reading alot about nissians transmissions. please fix these there needs to be a recall for the transmissions. i promise i or no one i know will ever buy a nissan again.

When driving my car will be moving just fine and out of nowhere i will loose ability to accelerate. the car will go up to 3 rpm and stay, will not go faster with the pedal to the floor. this will happen wether the car is in cruise control or not. the car will also loose ability to go up hills and properly accelerate from a stop. this happened last summer and has been fine fine this winter. friday it started again this time in heavy traffic. this almost caused a semi to crash into us as it went from 70 mph to 50 very quickly without warning. this car is not safe for this reason. they only way i know to fix it is to stop, turn off the car and wait. this does not mean it will fix it. i have looked into it and it seems to be an issue with the transmission. this car does not have enough miles to warrant a new transmission.

Anytime i drive more than 30 minutes my acceleration doesn't work. this is especially true if i stop at a stoplight and it takes a bit before my car will start driving again. it's only a matter of time before i get hit from behind because cars think i should be moving but my car is incapable of it. this happens every day.

Cvt transmission is making a horrendous noise and stays in low gear throughout ,nissan murano i have , recently had to have the transmission changed for the same problem , , every body including the nissan technicians, said this transmission is no good , why are we not protected by our govt. time for a recall .nissan have had so many complaints on these transmissions they have added 10 years and 100000 miles to warranty for some vechicles but not others , time to do something, please comb through the records and see how many complaints

As i am driving at highway speed with my cruise control on, it will all of the sudden drop acceleration and shuts off the cruise control. i can push the gas all the way to the floor and it won’t do anything. this has happened to me on several occasions. i pull off the road and turn the car off and then back on but it still will barley go or sometimes it will get to a max of about 60 mph but the rpm will rev to 5000. usually when i get to where i’m going (to work, very late) and my car sits all day then it seems fine on the way home.

Never know when it may happen. can be going any speed and all a sudden it is like the car has no power and if you flutter the gas pedal it comes back. *tr

Car just hit 85,000 miles. my nissan 2013 rouge is dangerous and an extreme safety hazard. when at a turning at stoplight in hot weather (all the time in ca) the cvt transmission slows the car to almost a complete stop. you just turn off and on the car to restart. i’ve almost been t-boned 2x, completely hazard. also, on the highway after driving an hour it failed to go over 40mph in a 65 zone. also an extreme hazard, this cvt transmission must be recalled and replaced at no cost to consumers immediately. part is faulty due to negligence of nissan. *tr

On the interstate with cruise on. cruise shut if on it's own i tried to accelerate and nothing happened. the car started to slow and the just took off. the speed on the interstate is 80mph i had slowed to 70 making it very dangerous.

Complete loss of power when driving down the express way. intermittent issue though happens mainly on the expressway or just leaving the off ramp. i see many other people are having the same issue with their nissan rogues from 2008-2014. it is very dangerous my wife was almost rearended on the expressway because she cant accelerate. it happens randomly and is getting worse and more often as time goes on. mechanics have no clue how to fix the issue besides replacing the entire transmission. she had to drive all the way home going 25mph down the expressway yesterday from ohare where she works as a flight attendant home here in lake villa, il. this needs to be resolved!! she us now afraid to drive her own car. *tr

After cruising the car at highway speeds (70mph) for around an hour the car begins to slow down on it own and even flooring the gas pedal won't increase the speed, it will just rev at high rpm and start slowing down. the can barely speed up to 30mph after that after continuing to flooring the gas pedal and revving the car at it's highest rpm. there are no engine lights. the car has to be turned off for 10-15mins but sometimes even that does not help. when taken to dealership they offer to put a new transmission which cost around $4000. this is a major issue for all rogue cars. *tr

Would not accelerate forward or reverse with no warning while driving or from a stationary position

I was driving on the highway at the speed limit of 70 mph. i had the cruise control set and was coming up to a small hill. the car began to accelerate as normal to get up the hill. as soon as i began to descend the hill, the car was still trying to accelerate and the rpms started to get up to the 6000s. i immediately turn of cruise control and let the rpms go back down before trying to accelerate to stay going to speed limit. the car would not accelerate and the rpms would go up quickly with barely any touch to the gas pedal, so i pulled over on the side of the highway. the car gave me no warning what so ever and left me in a dangerous situation. while trying to pull off the highway at a safe speed with 18-wheeler trucks having to slow down and go around me causing other cars to slam on their breaks to avoid rear-ending the trucks.

Left tail light/running light is out, replaced bulbs and fuses but still not working, could be wiring harness uncertain at this point

From 01/18/2018 to 03/10/2020 my car has been in the carmax maintenance and the local nissan dealership a total of six times. they have torn my car apart replacing the roof airbags twice, the wiring harness twice and the other air bags and each time they say the fixed the problem only to have the airbags warning lights come back on. currently it's on warning me i have a problem with my airbags less the 160 miles since last repair. this is a safety issue!!! please respond.!

The airbag light is flashing! through your other reports, it would cost thousands of dollars of which should be nissans responsibilty!! and it should be recalled!! one lady's daughter got into an accident because the airbag went off while driving on the highway. she's maimed for life! !

My vehicle had an electrical shortage and caught on fire. my car was parked in a driveway not started and the fire started right near the driver side in the dash

We last used the car at 2:30pm and parked it in our driveway. it was stationary and unused for about 4.5 hours. at about 7pm we heard the horn go off. it was a steady blowing of the horn. i opened the front door, realized it was our car, and grabbed my keys to start the car to see if that would make the horn stop. when i opened the drivers door of the car i saw the orange flames and thick black smoke. i ran into the house, had my wife call 911 and i grabbed the house fire extinguisher. the fire started on the drivers side of the car either right below the steering wheel or on the left sidewall where the driver's left leg would rest. i did my best putting out the flames from the drivers side but had to go to the riders side to put out the left panel by the drivers legs. the fire was probably 95% put out when the fire department and police department showed. because the front hood release latch was severely damaged by the fire the fire department had to force the hood open to check for fire in the engine compartment. the fire department also removed parts of dashboard that were burnt to check behind to make sure the fire was out. it was towed away about an hour later. the car was "totaled" a week later by my insurance company.*dt*jb

I was made aware that there was a recall issued back on february 25, 2015. recall id: 228072 campain #: 15v032000. i was never notified of this recall concerning my vehicle. over the past few months, i’ve noticed moisture on the floor boards in the front of my vehicle. i purchased this vehicle used back in december of 2015.

Car will stop accelerating when driving on the freeway for over an hour. this has happened about 10 times now. it only had about 50,000 miles on it the first time it happened. several independent body shops could not detect the problem. in viewing other complaints, sounds like it’s the transmission. nissan needs to recall 2013 nissan rogues for this problem!

Whiles driving on the freeway after a few hours my car lost power. press the accelerator the car will not go any faster. look like the transmission loosing power very dangerous situation nissan and legal authorities should look into this.

When i bought this car i report to the dealer that the car have a noise in the front so we drive the car to hear it and they said it’s ok don’t worry, later i have to change the axels, at the same time when i stop the car start shaking when i connect or turn on the cooling system, two times my car shut down because of it, now i pay off this car and is still shaking, before i told them if they can fix it and they said the car is like that don’t worry about it,,,,so they don’t do nothing to try to fix it and just i have to go continue driving my car like that, i was so disappointed about this company nissan. also after six months when i had the car i have to change the battery because there’s something weird with the electrical system and battery, battery die constantly. i took the car to the dealer to change the whole suspension system because the car feel like i don’t have any suspension, well they change it i paid for it and guess what you feel the same i i bring the car back to the dealer and i told them if they can fix it because one of them was leaking oil and i told him if they can fix the other ones because i fill the same like don’t have any suspensions and they told me well we fix we change and put a new one if it’s like that we cannot do nothing, terrible. so another words the problems in this car is the suspension,,the electrical system with a battery and the cooling system engine i own this car right now and i still have this problem so nissan the dealer couldn’t fix nothing on this car.......... i bought the car in nissan of glendale and i pay to fix my suspension at nissan downtown la and when i get the car in nissan glendale after six months i took the car to universal city nissan to check the noise on the front of the car. only what i pay with my own money is battery and suspension the cooling engine system not yet.

Similar to other nissan cvt transmissions our 2013 rogue has lost power while drive on more than one occasion and often struggles to keep speed. one instance we were at a red light on a steep incline when the car lost power. the car started to roll back toward the car behind and we nearly avoided a collision.  we noticed this issue the day we purchased it. we have taken it in to our local nissan dealership right away and several times after to report the issue but they kept saying nothing was wrong. we have been following the recommended maintenance schedule and other recommendations from nissan but now after the warranty has ended they informed us we need to repair the transmission. nissan has been acting very unethically and are not taking responsibility for this issue that could be fatal to other drivers. 

Lost speed driving on highway, all of a sudden vehicle lost power and i was stepping on gas pedal and vehicle would not go, i almost got rearended due to vehicle slowing down.

The vehicle radio goes on and off, the dash lights and gauges go on and off and the vehicle jerks and then stops this all while driving

2013 nissan rogue trouble light comes on with a code b1018 & b1022 witch is passenger seat sensor. other models of the same year are being recalled for the same problem. the car only has 18,795 miles, we haved found out this is not a isolated incident, is there any way to put this model on the list for safety reasons.

While traveling on the highway the car started slowing down even though i was pressing on the gas. this happened a little over an hour into driving. i pulled off and after a little while started driving again and everything was fine. on a second occasion after driving on the highway for a little over an hour again i pulled off to get gas and stopped at a red light. when the light turned green, i press my foot on the gas and the car did not move. picked my foot up and press down again with no movement at first but then the car started rolling very very slowly. it finally picked up enough speed to get me out of the intersection and to the gas station. my destiination was about 45 minutes away and i did make it there without any other incidents. my husband was also driving the car about a week before this and after stopping at a stop sign, he pressed on the gas but the car did not move at first. moved very slowly into oncoming traffic and luckily he was able to back it up before being hit. when this occurs, no warning lights come on. we just have total loss of acceleration.

The vehicle was parked, when i tried to start it the key would not turn in the ignition. the steering wheel was not locked.

Car would tack at 5k-6k rpm and not downshift, would lose power as driving uphill in heat. wouldn't shift out of gear , making loud buzzing sound. shutter or lose power after driving for a period of time. this happens on the freeway and while driving on city streets. vehicle had 40k miles when first started to have the issue. recently brought to nissan dealership who stated it was a transmission failure where the transmission doesn't cool. due to being out of the warranty timeline (5 years) but within the mileage (52000 miles), they were able to get nissan to cover a cooler kit. however, the transmission is not working properly. paint chipping from hood and side of car without any reason or any prior damage.

I was driving slowly in a 35 mph speed limit area and my airbag light started flashing. after lots of research i found that the 2014 rogue has a recall for this issue, but not the 2013. i don't feel safe in my car and i have only had it for 4 months. the mileage on my car was about 90,000. this car has never had an accident and this needs to be a recall.

Car seem fine at first, but while driving on the highway it began to make strange noises. it hasted a little at the red light. once i reached home and pulled into the driveway, car cut off, i restarted the car it did move when in drive or in reversed.

Bought the vehicle in late august 2019 and in mid september started having issues with transmission. took to a dealer and was told they had transmission issues but vehicle was out of warranty. on 11/3/2019 vehicle was involved in an accident, nobody was hurt and waiting for police report, but i think nissan should be held accountable and fixed before someone gets killed

My vehicle continues to go into limp mode when driving on the highway. a mechanic states that it the cvt, transmission issue. i just went over my warranty and now i'm going to have to pay out of pocket 3,000-5,000 dollars to have fixed. i have spoke with many others that have the same make and model, 2013-2018 with the same issue. i was in the fast lane and my vehicle would not take the gas and ended up on the side of the rode three times during my trip. once i turned my vehicle off, it would drive normal until i drove for another hour or more.

Vehicle loses power on occasion after being driven for more than a half an hour

Torque converter malfunction diagnostic code p0744 requiring replacement of transmission at 66,000. noticed stalling at highway speeds.

Airbag light is flashing. i have a 2013 rogue only 47k miles. took to dealer, after 150.00 to diagonose . they said they found code stored for past airbag..past??? and they have a procedure. they reset it but it came back on. next...they said they have to change the spiral cable- part alone is 682.00 and if that doesnt do it, then they have to go to the control board and thats 1020.00 for part... they are the dealer....besides being a safety issue, how can they not know exactly where the problem is?? i called nissan to put in a claim. they are willing to take some money off the spiral cable, but why am i paying for that if they aren't even sure that is the problem!!! there absolutely should be a recall on this...how can we get this done?

I’ve been have shaking and delays with the cvt transmission. it has altogether failed now and i’ve only owned the vehicle since the end 2017. it didn’t last two years. there is no way i will replace the transmission only to have the same problems again. shame on nissan for not valuing their customers enough to fix the cvt problems. if you’ve settled in court, there should definitely be a recall on all cvt transmissions. i wish i knew about the cvt issues, i would have steered clear of nissan vehicles. i was driving down the street when it went out. couldn’t accelerate at a stop light.

Driving on i4 in florida my car went from 70mph to 30 in less than 1min when i took it to the dealership they sd it was a cracked filter and fixed it 4mos later i was driving on highway got off the exit and stopped at traffic light when light changed hit gas pedal and the car will not move i pump it and then it started going but very sluggish til it picked up speed .this past friday the same exact thing happened again. i’m very good on keeping my car tuned up taking care of maintenance on the car at the time it corresponds so i’m baffle as to why this is happening. i don’t abuse my car . no lights come up in the panel indicating a problem. a few different mechanics have checked the car and can’t find anything wrong with it. yet i’m a wreck any time i’m driving thinking somebody is going to ran into the back of my car.please help me .

The transmission does not shift properly. the car losses power on the highway and streets. loss of acceleration and or power. while driving the car does not function properly and is unsafe to drive as is.

The passenger air bag light is on even though it has never been deployed. i have to replace my air now!

Transmission failed with only 54k miles on on july 20th while driving on the highway. i could not go any faster than 40mph and had to pull over on the side of the road. my air conditioning also stopped working in 90 degree weather.

My vehicle can never accelerate 70+ mph for more than 45 mins at a time, on the highway. the car will slowly start to decelerate to no more than 40mph. i'll have to pull over for about 10 mins and turn the engine off.

The car has approximately 85,000 miles. took into the dealership for service because of rough idling, loss of acceleration and a whining noise when accelerating. dealership came back and said transmission was bad. discovered that cvt failure in 2013 nissan rogue is common and a known issue. recalls have been issued for some models but not all even though many owners have experienced the same problems.

Takata recall. this would be my second time changing this transmission. first time was when my car didn’t wanna accelerate and got stuck on 40 mph instead of 70 miles per hour. my nissan at the time had only 50,000 miles. my nissan right now has over 150,000 and the transmission slipping again. did a transmission flush and nothing. i’ve also notice now when the weather is over 96 degrees the transmission acts up by stalling on 40 mph while driving. even my ac compression also takes a high effect as well. if it’s not one, it’s the other.

While traveling back from the east coast, in the state of oklahoma the transmission went out on the vehicle. was traveling on the interstate. had to travel about 30 miles on the side of interstate to get to nearest town. located a nissan dealership. ending up paying thousands to get transmission fixed.

Myself with my 6 year old daughter were driving from new haven, ct to fitchburg, ma. about 1 hour into the drive, my 2013 nissan rogue would not accelerate beyond 40mph!!! we were in steady fast moving traffic on a hot july 20th, 2018 afternoon, heatwave weather! it was terrifying!!! i put on my blinkers and slowly veered to the right lane! i had to get off the highway and make it to the nearest gas station. after several frantic calls to family members trying to figure out what to do, i decided to add engine oil, anti-freeze, gas and water hoping something would help. after sitting for an hour, i drove on the local roads to try out the car again but realized i had to get back on the highway and try to accelerate above 60mph again!!!! we made it to our 3 hour trip destination. the next day on the way back, the same problem happened and this time after stopping for a while my car still would not accelerate until we sat with the car off for an hour in the heat in a town that i am not familiar with! we had to use all local roads to get back home and that took double the time because i had to keep pulling over so the car could cool off some!!!! several mechanics have told me that i need a new transmission. it is too expensive to fix right now!!! i'm so disgusted with this car and cannot wait to get rid of it!!!! if a location takes over an hour to get to, i can't drive this car!!! my car is a pearl white color. the paint peeling on the hood and sides of the door is a whole other frustrating problem that gets worse and worse!!!

My daughter was stopped at a red light and when she tried to accelerate the car wouldn't move. she was able to get to the side of the road and after a few mins & a trip to advance auto parts & then a mechanic she was told to bring it home. then the check engine light came on. she pulled into another advanced auto parts and they reset it. she lost power while driving over 50 mph on back roads and the interstate several more times. this car is not safe to drive. we were told she needs a new transmission and it only has 82k miles. she's a high school student and doesn't have $3,700 so the car just sits while she still makes payments.

Driver side rear door locked by it self we can not open it, all other door working normal right now, mechanic can not fix it because we can not open the door

Hi, i have a 2013 nissan rogue. the tpms light came on while on the freeway. its not going off even after adjusting the tire pressure to the correct value many times. i had the same issue when i purchased the vehicle, that time dealer adjusted it. now the dealership is asking for $150 to rectify that

It appears there's a problem with the cvt transmissions and several complaints filed. i just purchased this vehicle not even a month ago but it's past the warranty

We were traveling down i 65 in kentucky at interstate speed when all of a sudden the car just lost power. the car would barely go 40mph. we were only a few miles from home so we limped the car home. i just purchased the car on the 18th 2 days before. the problem is the cvt transmission but the dealership refuses to admit that is what's wrong. gillie hyde in glasgow ky. i'm a paralyzed army vet and live on a fixed income and i cannot afford to repair the car. nissan knew the problems with the cvt transmissions but chose to continue manufacturing the 2013 rogue knowing the hazardous transmission and how it could cause accidents and deaths.

A month ago i was having acceleration issues with my vehicle. i was at a traffic light and could not make the left turn because my vehicle would not accelerate. i was able to pull my vehicle to the side of the road and had it towed. i brought it to nissan and paid almost $5k for a new transmission. (2nd transmission replacement in the last 3 years). a month later having same acceleration issue, nissan a week later said i needed a fuel pump. drove home from the dealership after paying another $915 and my vehicle is giving off a burning smell, making horrible noise which wasn't present previously and struggling to drive.

2013 nissan rogue, 100,000 miles. i was driving the vehicle south down the interstate from charleston to orlando, ~70 mph, driving normally in june 2019. around the ga/fl border, when i would hit the gas pedal to accelerate, the spedometer wouldn't go higher. the engine would rev, and the rpms would increase to 3-4,000. happened for about 10 minutes until i got to an off-ramp. after the car cooled down for 45 minutes, we got back on the road since it was a sunday night in the middle of nowhere ga, kingston to be exact. it drove well for the rest of the drive down to orlando with stops every hour. same thing happened on the way up from orlando to charlotte, rpms went up, spedometer didn't move. let the car cool and then it drove fine at lower speeds. took it to a nissan dealership when i got back and they diagnosed the transmission as having a faulty torque converter, p0744 was the code that came back. 12 hours of labor, saying they needed to replace the transmission. found the service bulletin: ntb16-090, and it seems like it's spot on, happened after prolonged driving in high temperatures. after reading the bulletin, it connects the dots for why my engine would sound weird when i was driving in the mountains, the engine would start to sound really trying after some time. saw that a number of nissan vehicles have been recalled due to faulty cvt transmissions, and i don't know why nissan 2013 rogues have not been recalled yet.

Vehicle starts running hot after on interstate for approx. 30 min, temp will return to normal if heater is being ran on high. diagnosis was thermostat needed to be replaced. vehicle runs hot after thermostat was changed. while on interstate for approx. an hour vehicle still running warm. temp returns to normal while heater is on high. while on cruise control rpms increased suddenly to 4500 with a speed of 70. slowed down to 60 and rmps continued to climb to 4500 until i pulled over on the side of the road.torque converter clutch solenoid failing. temp fix, sprayed connection cleaner on torque converter clutch solenoid, rpms are still slightly elevated from normal, but manageable for now.

I did a research on the 2013 nissan rogue. 2yrs ago on the same truck.well anyway i didn't think i would have any problems with my truck until now. the transmission has now failed in my truck. its has stalled on me in the middle of the street and highway which is a danger to me and other cars on the street. the electrical in the truck when trying to drive over the speed limit or not the truck will start to overheat and shut down on me in the street. then i would have to seat and wait around an half hour to an hour. i have been experiencing problems for awhile but didn't expect it to get this bad.

When driving, the transmission overheats with no indicators. it starts to lose speed and rev very high while the vehicle continuously drops in speed. the diagnostic came back that it was a default in the transmission. the car also jerks, revs, and is very loud.

The transmission "stalled" stopped operating as i was at 55 mph, at the end of a steep uphill onramp merging onto hwy 395 from hwy 70 in eastern california. no warning lights on dash showed. almost got ran over by a large truck. i managed to coast to the side of the hwy. after resting there for 20 minutes or so, the transmission worked partially and i limped it into reno with the flashers on. the nissan mechanic in reno told me "they do that when they get too hot." this is dangerous.

The airbag light continues to flash all the time and will not go off. i would assume this means there is a defect in the air bag.

Driving uphill in interstate at about 70 mph when vehicle began to slow down to approximately 30 mph while i was accelerating 1 mile outside columbia sc. i was dangerously close to being run off highway. fortunately i was in right lane and able to access emergency shoulder of road.

Air bag or electric issue to sensor in the passenger seat, but the light never goes off when anyone is in the seat. the airbag system shouldnt be doing this and i have addressed it with nissan but have gotten nothing but the run around. when the vehicle is powered on in park or even driving the light indication stays on.

Car did not accelerate when i pressed the accelerator pedal while i was driving on the highway after about 2 hours driving. this happened with no apparent reason and without any warning. it was very dangerous as i was driving on the left lane and had to cross for lanes in order to stop on the side. several minutes later, after letting the car to rest, the malfunction indicator light was turned on. after few more minutes the accelerator pedal returned working.

My 2013 nissan rogue awd loses acceleration on the highway. i live in a mountainous area and it appears to happen when accelerating up hill. it happens every time at between 65-75 mph. i will be accelerating up a hill at 70 mph and it will drop down to sometimes 50 mph even when pressing i'm the accelerator completely. it's very dangerous when semi trucks are passing you in the mountains going 10 under the speed limit. this is a major issue and nissan should recall them immediately. i've heard of many other complaints across the globe with this model. my rogue is only now at 57,000 miles. i noticed the issue at 50,000 miles. i am an excellent driver and i do not speed.

I own a 2013 nissan rogue with the cvt (continuous variable transmission). while driving along the highway the car looses the ability to accelerate, the engine begins to whine and the rpm shoot way up high. for example: while traveling 75 mph on the highway all of a sudden the card stops accelerating and as if you have taken you foot completely off the gas pedal you are now doing 60 mph, but in reality you gas pedal if pushed all the way to the floor. nissan is selling defective vehicles in such a way that makes them prone to failure while the car is being driven. as a result, people are being injured and are afraid for their lives. some are loosing their only source of traveling, which in turns costs them their job. the car does not overheat but when the weather is warmer, the problem is more common. if i am understanding correctly...the transmission fluid must cool down in order for the car to be able to accelerate normally. my 2013 rogue originally had the above described problem in 2016 and nissan covered the repair of the problem. yesterday, 4/5/2019, marks the initial reoccurrence of the same problem with the car suddenly not being able to accelerate on the highway. because my car has just under 120,000 miles on it, the dealership is claiming that it is no longer covered under warranty and that i am responsible for not only diagnosing the problem (for a fee) but also responsible for repairing the vehicle.

While taking extended drives, the rpm's begin to increase and the vehicle begins to loose power slowing down to the point where it completely loses power. this has happened at least six times on the road, five on busy interstate highways. all instances the speed of the vehicle was traveling in excess of 60mph. nissan knows of the problem with its cvt transmissions and has issued a technical bulletin. nissan's technical service bulletin ntb14-002d, which describes the issue as the cvt going into fail-safe after continuous operation under the following conditions: 1) high rpm and/or driving speeds of 65 mph for 1.0 - 1.5 hours or more, 2) driving in ambient temperature of 96 degrees or higher, 3) climbing steep or extended hills for 6 miles or more, and 4) whine or rattle noise occurring during reduced engine performance (vehicle speed decrease). in the case of my vehicle, these conditions were present in most of the cases (four of the six times), in two instances ambient temperature was not a factor (november and february travel) and in one instance, climbing steep or extended hills was not a factor. now the transmission seems to be slipping during short, local, trips. this began occurring at approx. 36,000 miles and the vehicle now has 90,000 miles (this report to nhitsa is for the most recent incident on 5/20/19). i don't take long trips frequently (10 is probably the maximum number of long trips i have made in this car). nissan has identified a problem with 2008-2010 cvt transmissions and have extended the warranty on the rogue to 10 yrs./120,000 miles; the same should be done with this model as well. it is unsafe and unacceptable. i've talked to three nissan service departments and all three have wildly different answers (and prices). i don't which dealer to trust, and i don't know if it's better to repair it or trade it. either way, i can't afford it.

Loss acceleration and my car would not shift gears properly

As i was driving home from work, my car lost acceleration. the vehicle will not speed up, even when i press the gas to the floor. the engine just revs up. i was going up a hill in a busy section of town and was almost in an accident as the person behind me did not realize i was unable to accelerate. luckily i was able to pull to the side of the road.

My car is a 2013 nisan rouge and i’ve paid dealership to replace airbags and the airbags went bad again which isn’t safe and i believe should never go bad. i’ve also replaced the whole exhaust system catalytic convert two years ago with same dealer and need another. they constantly keep telling me major things have been wrong transmission replaced as well ac system etc. ive paid there service department almost 8000.00 for engine and they. the other day i had oil changed and the mechanic left oil cap off and my engine almost caught fire. they said all was ok.. please help me ! i believe they are truly taking my money when a lot these issues could’ve been not needed cause i’m always keeping up with maintenance and have all receipts.. please help !!

When driving down interstate going 65 - 70 mph after 1 hr driving car suddenly stooped accelerating. i pulled off on an exit and reached a stop light. when i pushed on gas pedal the car would not accelerate right away. happened at two sets of lights. shut the car off for 20 minutes and started driving again and it seemed ok. driving ok short distances while i was in maine. on my way home to massachusetts after 1 hr of driving on interstate going 60 - 70 mph again i lost acceleration. had to pull over and sit another 20 minutes. i was able to continue my drive after sitting and letting it cool down.

I just took my vehicle in for it's normal maintenance (oil change/filters, etc.) today - 7/12/19. all is in good condition, except i asked nissan to look at the flashing airbag light that started about a week ago for no apparent reason (o/a 7/5/19). they told me that my front air bag sensor is not working, and that it is not covered and would cost me apx $1,020 to fix. this is an apparent safety issue, and i did nothing to my vehicle for this kind of thing to stop working. i am concerned for my safety and am very reliant on my car to get to and from work, etc. i believe, due to the safety aspect alone, this should be a recall notice and fixed. if you could please look into this, it would be very much appreciated.

I bought my nissan rogue in december 2013 brand new. when the incident happened, the car has roughly 60,000. just last summer 2018, as i was driving to atlanta on i- 20 west my car started to decelerate while i was driving at 75 mph after 40 minutes into my trip. i was so nervous, as i continued to push the gas but nothing happened as cars speed up behind me. i merged over to the right lane to avoid causing an accident. while in this lane semi trucks quickly started to approach behind me and that's when i knew something was terrible wrong. i merged off the nearest exit for my safety. i found somewhere to park and turned off my vehicle. i restarted it and preceded to my destination without any problem. this same thing happened later that year. i did get my car diagnosis and discovered that it is the transmission but that company didn't have the equipment to due that repair. recently, i went to nissan dealership and got another diagnosis and they said it is the transmission which will cost $4000. i would imagine that my car would not have that type of problem within 4 years of ownership since this transmission was built by nissan. i have researched and seen that i am not the only one who had this problems with this year model.

Driving on highway, 65-70 mph, ambient temp about 89 degrees, vehicle has no acceleration, slows to about 45 mph, high pitched whining noise. manage to get off of highway, after slowing traffic and pull to side of highway. turned car off, sat by side of highway for an hour plus, started car, turned around and made it home -- about 30 miles -- in about an hour and a half, due to re-occurrence of issue. no lights came on. no warning, just loss of acceleration and inability to keep up with traffic.

Pearl white paint is peeling off for no reason. rust is now visible on some spots. normal use and i only have 38,500 miles on it. took it to the dealer 2 years ago when only a quarter size spot was visible. now it is many more and larger spots.

A month after buying the vehicle brand new i brought it to the dealership because of excessive shaking and jittering and whining noises. they said it was normal that it's the new style transmission. now 140k miles later. i'm onn a trip with cruise control set at 75 i noticed i was slowing down it slowed to 60 while driving down the interstate in the middle of fast moving traffic. turned cruise control off and attempted to accelerate. once i pressed the gas pedal it did nothing. rpms didnt go up mph didnt go up. it was like it just shut off. i got to the next exit pulled off on side turned the vehicle off and then back on. it was fine about an hour later it did the same thing so stopped at a gas station checked fluids everything normal. got back on the interstate it was normal again. made it to our destination and vehicle seemed fine the next 2 days but we never needed to drive over 55. on the trip home it started again about an hour in. so we stopped ate and got back on the interstate. this time we kept the speed under 65 the entire trip home and it was fine. brought it to the dealership to get it checked out to find out that it's my transmission that needs to be replaced.

After driving on the highway for about 70 miles or 1 hr i lost complete acceleration although cruise control was engaged. i disengaged cruise but was not able to accelerate. i pulled off the highway, and coasted to a safe spot. i shut the car off for a bit and then it resumed normal driving. this occurred on multiple occasions during my trip from west palm to orlando and on the return trip.

At 60 to 70 mph rpm increases to 6,000 then car slow's down and stops . this is a life threatening situation. this has happened to many people . this car should be off the road now. do your job!

One month after the five yrs warranty the airbags light is on all the time. it appears system is not working and inactive.

My 2013 nissan rogue needs the transmission replaced. it has 101.512 miles on it. for a vehicle that is only 6 years old this is very upsetting. i have contacted consumer affairs hoping that they will pay or help pay for the cost. i have been reading about the cvt in these vehicles and it seems to be a major issue. i feel as a consumer this should be taken care of by nissan.they should really stand behind their product. hot in it one morning the engine e light came on backed out of my garage put it in drive and could not go over 5 miles an hour and it was making a whining so ound. parked it and had it towed to a nissan dealership.i am very upset that this happened and that i have this expense now.

After driving about an hour and a half in 90 degrees with air conditioner on, the rpms jolted upwards while my car began to decelerate. it felt like it popped out of gear and i was careening down the highway in neutral. i was able to get it to the side of the rode and let it set for a couple of hours. i then had to take back roads and drive under 50 mph with out air conditioner, but made it home. i brought it in to maplewood klein nissan dealer and device. they did a diagnostic test and said there was an intermittent transmission problem. i needed a new transmission, at $4200, and the car only has 139000 miles. they told me to contact nissan consumer affairs and file a complaint. they service department said this appears to be a common problem and nissan company has been helping with repairs, anywhere between 30-70%. however, after several phone calls and emails, i was informed by the consumer affairs department they do not help customers with this issue if past the 60000 miles or 5 years. i asked how the other customers where able to get help, despite being past the warranty, and i was told nissan was in no position to help me. i said it was dangerous t drive and the cvt should not be going out this soon. i also stressed that research shows many customers are experiencing the same issue and something is wrong with the transmission they put in the cars. i was told no help would be given, thank you for calling.

My 2013 nissan rogue loses power while driving and will only accelerate to twenty miles per hour doing this time. today 06/17/2019 is the fourth episode. the first three happen while in cruise control driving uphill. i had to turn the car off and after 15 minutes or so it was drivable. however today it happened while driving on a normal flat freeway surface while in the hov lane. traffic was light or this could have been a major issue. my wife and granddaughter were in the care with me. from my research, many owners or having or had this problem with their 2013 nissan with the cvt transmission. request someone checks and require nissan to fix the problem(s).

When driving in the summer heat and going up a hill or for a long period of time, the car starts to slow down, even if you push the gas pedal all the way to the floor. it is scary when you are needing to turn out into an intersection for instance, because you can’t move the car out of the way quickly enough, which a person could be hit by other oncoming cars. i was never told that the car has this problem and after the first time that it happened to me, i took it into a nissan dealership and they said that problem is common with the 2013 rogues. so after learning that, i have gone online and found there are several people who have the same problem with their rogues. i would have liked to know that was a common problem with that car. i wouldn’t have bought it had i known.

Car was stationary in our driveway at home. passenger door front would not unlock nor open with the key fob. tried to unlock it physically but it would not open. got inside and door still would not unlock nor open. the handle of the door would not move into side door outside.

I was accelerating to merge onto an expressway today, and my acceleration cut out in my vehicle. my vehicle lost all acceleration and coasted to idle speed. i was luckily able to move off the expressway at idle speed, but i may have not been so lucky in another scenario. i also noticed that my brake lights stay on sometimes when the car is off or the pedal is not pressed. the car seems to think the brakes are engaged and will not allow any acceleration. i found this tsb for my vehicle that describes the exact issue i am facing. however, the tsb is inaccurate. it states there is "low power" when accelerating. there is actually "no power." the car does not accelerate at all when this issue is encountered but will coast to idle speed. this issue puts the driver's life at risk, as well as others on the road, and should result in a full recall before people die. this complaint is in regards to the classification and inaccuracy of the following tsb, which should be classified as recall and corrected to reflect the vehicle losing all acceleration. nhtsa id number: 10075096 manufacturer communication number: ntb15-113

Drivers side door does not unlock. driver is locked inside vehicle. in the instance of a disabled driver, this is potentially dangerous as the driver must exit other door. people with limited mobility may not be able to do so. in the event of an emergency, this may also be a hazard

While traveling to orlando florida on sunday 05/27/2019, my vehicle stopped accelerating on the highway. the more i pressed the gas pedal the slower my vehicle became. by the grace of god an 18 wheeler truck saw my distress and guided me 1 mile to the exit on i-75 south. my car dropped down to 20 mph. this was the most traumatic experience. i was stranded from 6 pm sunday until 6:30 am the next morning where i was then able to get my vehicle msu ran errands company to tow me 113 miles to my nephew’s home in brayselton georgia where we took the vehicle to a nissan dealership in buford georgia. they ran a diagnostic check to find out my transmission was gone. i never had an indication this was going out and now the price to replace this transmission is well over $5,000.00. i am over 400 miles away from my vehicle and don’t know how i will get my vehicle fixed. dealership told me that since i am not going to get it fixed by them i need to come get it due to them not having room to store it until i can figure out what to do. the warranty only lasted for 60,000 miles or 5 years which ever came 2st. why can’t the warranty on such an expensive part be given a 100,000 mile warranty? people such as myself riding along going about their everyday business ot knowing the vehicle they purchased can literally be a death trap. this is so not right to have to come up with a large amount of cash for such a huge repair and still have a car note to pay. i would like for nissan to go online and read the reviews of their product, stand by these people and stand by he product. it should not have to wait until someone loose their life to dig deep into seeing the problem.

While in motion the vehicle lost power to move. there werent any dashboard lights present. vehicle has pause in a fast food drive thru and after several attempts on accelerating there wasn’t any movement.

Air bag passenger sensor disabled suddenly while driving and whiteness popped up in board

At 75,000 miles the cvt needs to be replaced according to nissan dealership. i am being told the transmission fluid is over heating and sent the car into recovery mode. this car is driven by my daughter to travel between lubbock,tx and capitan, nm for her second job as she is paying her way through texas tech university. there is a technical bulletin (at16-013 reference ntb16-090 for this issue. this particular car has had the cvt-a overheat 149 times, and the cvt-b overheat 75 times. mileage on car is 75,306. the car puts itself into recovery mode not allowing any power and reducing speed as low as 5mph. this is extremely dangerous as my daughter us on a two lane 75mph highway. this has happened 4 times and been misdiagnosed as the maf sensor. i am being told if the car operates at over 65mph for longer than an hour and a half the transmission fluid overheats. estimate given to replace unit is $4,635.52. if i do not repair it the car loses 75% of its value to try to trade it in. a case was open with nissan consumer affairs division case #34122344. nissan stated they were aware of the issues but no extended warranty or recall was given to this particular year of vehicle although there are for other years with same issues. i do not have the resources to fight this legally in court or to take this kind of financial loss on this vehicle. this is a real issue, someone is going to get killed on a highway when these vehicles go into recovery mode due to cvt issues!

Shortly after pulling onto a city street all lights, headlights, brake, signal, park, went out during driving. the indicator that the lights were on was still light though there were no lights. switching to high beam did not result in lights coming on and blue high beam indicator light did not come on. continually holding the light switch back in high beam position was the only way to have lights to drive. fuses were checked by a local technician and none were bad. lights came back after turning engine off for approximately 10 mins then turning light on.

I filled up my gas tank. turned the gas cap until it clicked and drove away. a few days later my car gives me a warning that my gas cap isn't tight. i tighten the gas cap however the warning keeps popping up when i start my car. the warning eventually goes away but my engine light comes on. i buy a replacement gas cap from the parts store however the engine light stays does not go away. a fe days later the engine light turned off. everything is fine i go to get gas and tighten my gas cap. a few days later the gas cap light warning sign comes on again. the engine light follows a few days later. i take the car to the auto mechanic shop and he tells me i need an authentic nissan gas cap. he orders one and puts it on and reset the engine light. nothing is wrong with my car. i ride around a few days and the engine light stays off. i go to have my car inspected by the state for the emissions test everything is fine. a few days later my engine light comes back on. i take it to a different mechanic shop and have them test the car. they tell me the read out says it's a slow leak from the gas cap. he tighten the gas cap and reset the engine light. a few days later the i receive a warning sign about the gas cap and then the engine light comes on. the gas cap warning and engine light has been coming on and going off for over four years now. both mechanics told me that the engine is not recognizing the gas cap. it's an authentic nissan gas cap i purchased earlier this year. one mechanic told me nissan has a bulletin out about the gas cap but has not completed a recall.

When i am driving the vehicle the transmission will shut off and it will no longer accelerate. it slowes the vehicle and i was almost hit twice because the vehicle qould no longer accelerate.

I was driving for about 40 minutes uphill on a freeway when my 2013 nissan rogue started to lose speed. first i couldn't accelerate more than 60mph, then 45mph. i had to be towed home and was told i need a new transmission. after reading so many similar complaints, i am convinced this should be investigated and recalled.

I have a 2013 nissan rogue. i have had it a little over a year and at right below 60k miles it started acting funny. at first it was like it was having problems shifting while on the highway. wasn't constant but here and there. i took it in to a mechanic an they said there was nothing wrong. i kept driving it. later on it started to jump on flat roads, took it to the dealership still nothing wrong with it. i then was having trouble going up hills, an eventually i would loose speed an couldn't go anywhere. i had to park on the side of the road or highway and wait 20 minutes, then my car would be fine again, until the next big hill. i brought it a nissan dealership they said i needed my transmission fluid changed so i paid the $200 an had it changed or flushed or whatever it is that they do. i still had problems to the point where now my car is not moving. i brought it back an the nissan dealership now said that i had multiple problems with my transmission an it was going to be very expensive to fix, that i should just replace it. but why? my car is 5 years old an has less then 60k miles on it. ive heard plenty of stoires of rogues doing this, i feel like there should be a recall of some sort.

After having a transmission fail in april 2017 and having it replaced by the nissan dealer in colorado springs, colorado, i was shocked when my 2013 rogue losing speed and refusing to accelerate a year later. i was driving to my parents about an hour away doing about 55mph. about 40 minutes into my trip my car would not accelerate and was quickly losing speed. i managed to limp it to my parents, already knowing what was happening. this is the second transmission in a vehicle that now has only 112,000 miles on it. if i were to replace it would be 3 transmissionsin 5 years for the car. nissan north america is not willing to help, but seems to know this is happening to numerous people. they knew it years ago but did not change the transmission, instead continues to install the cvt transmission and make money when their products fail and we have to replace and repair.

While driving highway speeds on colorado mountain passes, the vehicle transmission failed and would not accelerate. this put me in a very dangerous position with the other traffic on the road going 55mph and my car not going faster than 20mph. i took it to woodmen nissan in colorado springs, colorado where i was told there were metal shavings in the transmission pan, and it needed replaced. i had purchased an extra insurance plan for repairs with the car in april of 2015, the car had 29,000 when purchased from modern classic motors in grand junction, colorado. i used this insurance to have the transmission replaced by woodmen nissan in april 2017.

I had just purchased this vehicle from a ford dealership nine months previously. we were leaving for a family vacation from south dakota to colorado. just before denver, my nissan rogue lost power, i would have the accelerator to the floor trying to maneuver through denver traffic. we had a close call with an eighteen wheeler whom was trying to merge into traffic and my car would not accelerate to get out of his way. after arriving in colorado springs and finding a nissan dealer who would look at it and researching the problems of other owners with the same car, we were without a car for 2 of the 5 days of our vacation, which was a real bummer for our family. over $3500 later (thank god i had enough credit on my credit card), after installing a cooler for the transmission and replacing the valve body we were able to get back home. now i have a high interest credit card balance to pay that off. i am really stressed financially i cannot afford this and after reading other complaints that are identical, i also think i got overcharged by nissan dealer in colorado by over $1000. it ruined our vacation which are few and far between. to make matters worse every other year model of this vehicle was recalled for this problem. this 2013 has the same problems and it is extremely dangerous. i feel i should be reimbursed for this expense and time taken from my family. thank you.

I was travelling on the highway up a long incline when the accelerator pedal stopped working and the car began to decelerate. i was able to pull of the road. i turned the car off, then restarted it and tried to go and the accelerator pedal would not engage. there were no hazard lights illuminated and car temperature was fine. approximately 15 minutes the car star working normally and i got back on the highway. the car drove okay for a while but on the next big hill the accelerator failed again, this time the cvt (transmission) indicator light came on. after waiting another 15 minutes, the car was still not safe to drive at highway speeds, the accelerator was sluggish and unreliable. i was able to get home by driving slowly on back roads, but will not be able to safely drive it again until this issue is resolved.

Takara recall transmission going out. will not pull up hills or accelerate while driving on interstate. started at 80 000 miles. i can only drive my vehicle on flat ground or areas .

The vehicle is in motion and on highway or higher speed situations-the vehicle will not accelerate. the gas pedal is pushed all the way to the floor and the car does not accelerate but actually decelerates further. if traffic slows and the driver removes a foot from the acceleration pedal to slow a bit, speed cannot be regained and the car is left at a very slow speed in high speed traffic creating a safety risk. the car has been diagnosed with a need for a costly add on part (cvt cooler kit) to prevent the transmission from overheating and going into limp mode. this is a known problem that was occurring in our 2009 nissan rogue model and acknowledged by nissan and repaired under extended warranty. they are denying repair to our 2013 nissan rogue for the exact same problem which we had hoped to have been corrected prior to purchase of the 2013 model. this a high risk safety issue with no acceleration power in high speed settings as well as other situations. the car cannot be driven without danger to our lives or extreme risk for being in or causing an accident.

Cvt transmission died while on the highway. three different times this happened to me in the highway going at 75 mph and lost complete acceleration with the gas pedal depressed all the way. my rpms went up to 8000 this last time. rosen nissan in madison did the diagnostic on it on the thursday prior to my departure on my trip , and said that all that needed to be done was transmission fluid replaced. apparently there wasn’t anything wrong with it in the first place. prior to my having this all done i had researched why my car would stop accelerating completely and the reasons were due to the cvt transmission which had been recalled in a number of rogues and murano and versa’s. many had to have their transmissions replaced and they extended the warranties on some of the models to 120k/10 yr. mine wasn’t! tell me why a car with 110k that’s 5 yrs old would all of a sudden die if there’s not something wrong with the actual reliability of the way the transmission was built in the first place? going in circles with nissan they’re denying anything wrong on their end and won’t replace something that clearly a lot of issues have been reported with this transmission!! someone please make nissan accountable!

Deacceleration while driving mainly long trips. we first noticed 2 months ago. no recall was ever sent to us. my original warranty is over now.this is unsafe and worrisome , we can not afford to fix it.

We were driving on i-70 in central ks, in heavy traffic, at a speed of 75mph, when the cruise control shut off, and the car slowed to 60mph with no warning, no check engine light, or anything. i was able to maintain the 60 mph with the gas pedal to the floor. other drivers and semis were swerving and dodging us, there was no safe place to get off of the road. my wife, son and granddaughter were all in the car, and we were all afraid of being hit by an any driver who didn't happen to realize that we were not going the speed limit. we limped the car to the nissan dealer in salina, ks who told us that the transmission had overheated, because nissan did not install a transmission cooler, and the valve body had burnt up. the dealer told us it is a common problem and nissan knows about it. the cost to repair the vehicle is $2700. we contacted nissan, and were told essentially, it's yours, too bad. you bought it with 73000 miles on it, and it is out of warranty. we have only owned the car for 5 weeks. i feel this was a dangerous situation, and we could have easily been in a serious accident due to the failure of the transmission's valve body. what is most concerning is nissan knows about it and is refusing to assist in the repair of the vehicle, or even admit that it has problems. since the incident, i have found many reviews of this vehicle where the reviewer had the same problem (10 on edmunds.com, alone!)

Car lost power as we were on the highway, going from 70 to 40 mph in no time. started to smoke. just had oil changed and all fluids checked without any issues. after we were towed off the highway and waiting we decided to try the car again to see if it was working. car went fine the rest of the way. coming back home about 300 miles, car drove ok, but it felt like there was something off. brought it to the dealer and was told that it needs a new transmission as well as a transmission cooler kit. total would be $5200. car only has 67000 miles, paid in full at time of purchase, warranty expired at 60000 miles. contacted nissan, i was told other years had extended warranty on transmission but not my year. also found out that there’s been recalls on other years regarding the transmission but not 2013. i see there are many, many complaints online regarding this issue. i don’t feel safe driving my car and i really think nissan should make restitution on this problem. i have contacted them and waiting for regional department to contact me today.

Air bag light would no cut off causing issues with air bag deployment. i was advised by the dealership that there is a recall for model years 2014-2017 for same issue but not for my vehicle (2013).

I purchased my car in 2016 which was previously a lease. when i got the car i noticed a whirring sound as i applied the gas and a low pull as it coasted downhill. several different people i asked about this stated it was normal. i've never driven or owned a nissan before and i just thought it was the way the car drives. a couple of months ago, after driving to get my son from college, the car barely went above 60 mph as i pressed the gas. i pulled over, thought it was too hot or maybe a bad battery (had it tested, still good) or maybe the fuel injector. i stopped and got some fuel injector cleaner and let my car rest for a bit before heading 2 hours back home. it never happened again until this past friday. had the codes read when it became sluggish and was given p1778 code. ultimately, myself, my daughter and my 2 foster daughters got stuck in traffic b/c my car barely moved at all during stop and go traffic. i had it towed and when the mechanic checked it that monday morning he confirmed that my transmission was bad and to take it back to the dealer, that nissan has had several problems w/ it and it should be under an extended warranty, which repairs may otherwise run b/w $3000.00-$4000.00. upon my research, contact w/ nissan consumer affairs and the dealer i've come to understand that my year (2013 nissan rogue) is not covered under the extended warranty and this appears to be a burden and danger to consumers that nissan has been aware of at least since 2003 yet has not been vigilant enough to fix. i also see where there have been and currently are class action law suits against nissan regarding the cvt transmissions. i have no alternative means of transportation. please help!!!

I did not get any indications from my car that i was loosing power on the interstate. i push the gas pedal and nothing. i was driving for over an hour and that is when it happens. unfortunately this has happen more than once. at times it start to slows down. one time when i got off the interstate and stopped at a stop sign and it almost died at the intersection. now i see it is a known problem i would like nissan to fix this because this could be a serious problem for me or anyone driving this. i almost got hit my a trunk, and a car on the interstate i don't trust this car anymore. i would like them to fix it right...

Driving over mountain pass from denver to sliverthorn i lose power and can not get speed above 45mps and dropping. driving denver to capser engine over heats and stalls at overpass with no power to drive for 10 min until engine cooled down. driving from jackson hole to landers car stalled on hwy and had to be shut down for 15 min to cool before could drive. engine is till running at these times but no power or drive and seems like engine is overheating. is safty hazord on road because it will stall out with no notice and no way to even get power to move off of road if come to complete stop after 2-3 hr drive and stop at light. seems to be worse durring summer months when it is hotter outside (like last week driving over eisenhouer pass/tunnel) that it does driving the same road in winter. thought there was a recall for this already and niassan was working on it in hotter areas like tx first then then getting to other regions but is also effecting driving here in co. date it has happened are several 08/25/2014 (casper overpass) 09/10/2015 (landers wy on hwy) 05/18/18 on i-70 going up eisenhower pass/tunnel no power made it to town and stopped to eat to give time to cool off but with they way the car has prefomed in past and was losing power if mps would have gotten to 20mps and i would have stopped car would have been stalled at least 15 min on the road. the only thing i hate about the rogue is loss of power and overheating. please f/u with manufacture to check into engine overheating. i know my sister also owned one that had to have heat sensor placed on engine to help with overheating on one side and here model was also a rogue close to same year. needs to be investigated before someone loses power and gets hit on hwy. 2014 hwy speed 70-75 45000. may 2018 65mps before pass and dropping to 40-45 on pass. landers 65mps 2014 55000, 2018 mtn 96000

I started my car one day and started to smell something burning. i saw no smoke and immediately shut the car off. i went into my home and got my husband to come and check the car. he started it up and the burning smell continued. again, we immediately shut the car off. my rogue was parked in my driveway and this was the first time that day i went to use my car. my husband advised to leave the car alone and take his truck. the next day we went out to check onto the car and it started right up with no burning smell but my "check engine" and "abs" lights stayed on. i had to contact nissan corporation twice just to get someone to return my calls. i had to file a complaint with my nys attorney general's office to get nissan's attention only to receive a letter telling my my particular vehicle was not under recall and they wouldn't help. how can an electrical problem when something obviously burned not be their responsibility? i have had my car regularly serviced at my local nissan dealer and have less than 60000 miles. the car still sits unusable in my driveway.

On interstate i 75, car suddenly acted like not getting gas. slowed down but was still going. i got off and went to an adjacent ford dealership. the put a computer on it and said it was a torque converter problem. advised to drive to nissan dealership. which i was able to do. they put computer on it and said ford diagnosis was correct but also a transmission problem. ref 15-084a. the dealership did mot mention that this was supposed to be a covered repair. charges would be 3600. +.

My wife and granddaughter were travelling in our 2013 nissan rogue when it developed a problem. she stated she was on a major highway when it suddenly lost power and a truck following behind her almost slammed into her. i couldn't believe this happened and decided to drive it myself on a 600 mile trip. when i was 3/4's of the way through i noticed a drop in speed and when depressing the accelerator it failed to go any faster. when i traveled up hill my speed went down to 30 mph and i had to pull over due to traffic backing up behind me. i later learned this is an issue with the nissan cvt. now i am unable to trust taking this car on any other long trips due to safety issues. i can't take a chance of another family member being killed due to the inherent problems that nissan has refused to repair or address.

Beginning in november of 2017, acceleration began to have issues. when accelerating, the car would drag and hesitate before fully dropping into gear. all other components worked fine. i would allow the car to heat up 10-15 minutes in the morning and that did not help. shortly after, each time i step on the gas, the engine revs tremendously despite the slightest acceleration. the pin will not move then move quickly causing a grinding/buzzing sound between 2k & 3k before feeling like it drops i tom gear, even at 15-25mph. this problem continues, but the cause can no to be diagnosed. in january of 2018, the warning lights on the dashboard came on and the car lost acceleration. upon taking it to the mechanic, i was told everything tested fine, the software simply needed to be reset. after resetting, the light has not returned, but the acceleration issue has not changed. in march of 2018 after experiencing another abrupt slow-down on a side street, i parked the car and smelled a burning of some type of fluid upon getting out of the car. once the initial smell dispersed, no sign of damage, leaking, or other issue was present. in april of 2018, no further acceleration issues have occurred, but the warning lights again came on. again, nothing was diagnosed, it was said there was some type of software issue and simply needed to be reset again. shortly after, the ac unit completely stopped working. i turned off the car, restarted and the system came back on, but no matter what blows out hot air which is hotter often than if the heat is turned on full blast. the car has been well maintained and undergone regularly schedule maintenance and has 84k miles. my mechanic ran the vin and there’s were no open recalls, however, the car was just diagnosed with an ‘electrical issue.’

Backing out of my driveway and heard a loud noise from rear of vehicle pull backing and noticed fluid on the pavement. upon inspection of fluid leakage noticed that the differential housing was cracked open and that was the problem with the noise and leak. had vehicle towed to the dealer and rear differential hadto be replaced ata cost of $2117.12. contacted nissan customer service and was told there was no recall and they stated if there was ever a recall that i would be reimbursed if there was a recall in the future

Driving from yuma to san diego doing 70 to 80 miles per hour until i hit the hills. i reduced my speed to 65 and set my cruise control. never had a/c on it was still cool, before noon. half-way through the hills i lost acceleration and cruise control shut-off. rest of the way through the hills was in the slow lane/emergency lane going 25 to 30 miles per hour. finally made it through the hills but by the time i was able to exit i8 i was going 20 then 15 then 10 miles per hour. after an hour of letting the car sit i started again put in in reverse and that's as far as i got. i had no power at all in "d" or "l", had to have it towed 51 miles. obviously nissan has a problem with the rogue model after reading other complaints on carcomplaints.com.

The transmission or power train fails after driving the vehicle for a few hours and long distances. my nissan rogue fails to push at normal desire speed and this is extremely dangerous when crossing intersections on busy oncoming traffic. the vehicle becomes sluggish and it becomes a danger to myself and traffic. i have spoken to nissan about this problem but they do not want to help because my car has no more warranty and it has no check engine light on. i noticed problem since the first day i bought it and i told the dealership. the dealership took the vehicle to get it inspected but they said that their was not a problem. i took the car again and i spoke to nissan and they said that because my vehicle was 62,000 miles they could not do anything since the warranty is only good for 60,000 miles. the car seems normal but it gets very sluggish after driving it for a few hours and that is dangerous when you cross traffic.

My brakes are not working properly. i first noticed my brake not responding correctly to the normal amount of pressure on 1/15/19. i would apply normal pressure and have no response, and have to press harder to get any kind of decline in speed. i took it to a local shop and they put on brakes, rotors, and flushed the brake system. a few weeks went by and the brakes were okay, but still not normal. on 2/1/19 the brakes would completely fail. i would press the brake and the brake would hit the floor with no backward pressure on my foot and no slowing of the car. i took it back to the shop on 2/2/19 and they flushed my brakes. i ran a few errands and returned my car that same day because it was still not stopping properly. they flushed the brakes again and suggested i see a nissan service center if that did not fix it. on 2/4/19 i took my car to a nissan service center. they could not find the issue, but suggest a brake flush. i declined because of the price and my brakes had been flushed twice two days prior. but to be safe,i returned it to the original shop and had them flush my brakes again. the car will now stop. however, the same amount of pressure may cause a sudden stop or a smooth stop. the brakes are still not responding properly and i am afraid they will fail again. i called the nissan customer affairs line and they said to have a nissan service center flush the brakes. a brake flush is a brake flush and it is not worth $118 to have a nissan shop flush my brakes for the same outcome. i looked online to see if other 2013 nissan rogue owners had sudden brake failure, and they have. i believe this is worth looking into. accidents are happening because of something with this rogue, not because of my lack of maintaining it. this is nissan's failure, not the consumer.

My nissan rogue will suddenly lose the ability to accelerate. this has happened attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, while the car is moving, etc. it has happened on hills and flat surfaces. this is a very dangerous problem, as it has also happened mid turn and on train tracks. i took it in for service, and the dealer stated there was no problem when there clearly is. my own research has shown this is a known problem with nissans, and is an issue with the cvt. i have complained to corporate and the dealer i took it into.

I purchased this vehicle used with just over 49,000 miles on it. i have had it for less than a month. i discovered that the right rear brake line has been run incorrectly during assembly. the mounting plate and bolt, where it is supposed to attach are both present. the brake line was run under a frame bolt instead of above the bolt. the brake line is rubbing on the bolt frame. the chaffing has rubbed through the outer rubber coating. the website is not allowing me to upload video or photos. please contact me and i can email the video and photos.

Loss of ability to accelerate. transmission will go into fail safe mode after approximately 20 minutes of driving regardless of weather, or town or hwy driving. it has left me with be able to go 40 mph or less on the highway. will not accelerate after stopping and when it does the rmps will be up near 4000 just to go 10-15 mph. on 3/31/2018 i had to be escorted off the hwy by chp because i couldn't keep up with traffic. this is not the first time is has happen. it occurs just about everyday. i have checked all my fluids there are no lights on my dash.

I was driving on ih10, in houston at 60-65mph, 6 lanes. had driven 10-15 mile, car started trembling at steerring, did not feel in control of staying in my lane. eased accelerator, tried again, felt same shimmy, unsafe. easied to 1st exit, asap. 1st auto shop on campbell rd. drove it, felt it was axle problem, but couldnt get it on lift til monday. 2nd repair -silber auto service diagnosed same, got on lift within hour. replaced next 2 days. i left , got rental, back home to nb, tx. tuesday shop said it did not correct problem. had it towed home by family thursday, nb nissan inspected friday. 29,000 miles on auto, out of 5yr warranty. 'cannot duplicate concern" i do not feel safe driving nissan at this time. i had gone to be with 93yr dad heights hospital w fractured lt hip, stayed 2 nites in hospital, started home to work 2 weekend shifts as pedi hh nurse on good friday. i was prepared to keep auto for at least another 4-5 yr, as i am in late 60's. very disappointed w nissan, this my 2nd nissan. havee read other people with same concerns with same type vehicle. was hoping they would correct the unsafe " concern". will not trade into nissan, but must take care of my own life/safety. have taken good care of nissan with oil changes, tire rotation, new battery, x2 new tires out of unrepairable flat, torn windshield rubber molding, flapping uncalled for on highway on previous trip to houston. same nb nissan repaired on my return. i had 22,000 miles then, last year. nissan usa was unhelpful, unsynpathetic, i feel its just $$ & business as usual for auto industry. thats what they do, pitiful.

Several times this vehicle while traveling on highway for along period of time was lose power and check engine light would come on.most of the time this would happen when i was far from a exit or rest area.at first i could shut vehicle off then back on and it would clear itself.my dad checked for codes and found a code for transmission(po744)-we contacted a nissan dealer to ask them to look at vehicle but they said it would have to be in "broke mode " to diagnosis.i had traveled several different times but each time it happened i was not close to any dealer.my dad gave me is scan tool to travel with so if i got stuck,i could clear the code so i could make it home.finally on march 15th as i was coming back from a trip,the car acted up and i was able to get vehicle to country club nissan in oneonta new york.they drove the vehicle and was able to duplicate the issue.so i brought the vehicle for diagnosis on march 21st.they found the transmission has failed.now on research we have found this is a common problem with the cvt transmission .nissan has extended warranty on older vehicles for this issue on some vehicles.also they have a tsb out for my exact issue(tsb#ntb16-090) i contacted nissan customer service.they gave me a case#30284691.after five days they got back to me and advised me that they would not cover this repair.this is unacceptable as they know its a on going issue with this transmission and i know this by research(all over the internet) .the extension on some models was 10 years or 120,000 miles.also the tsb also proves that they know of this problem.this vehicle is my life line.i still owe on this vehicle for three years and its no good to me with this problem.the repairs are beyond my budget.we have had bad weather here in upstate new york and this vehicle has left me aside the road.my dad had to come and get me two hours from home when it broke down.

Four times now the vehicle has experience a loss of power when in drive. in all four instances the vehicle had to be stopped, put in park and then was able to proceed. all four instances occurred as the vehicle was pull away from a stop. in one instance an accident was only avoided due to the drivers in cross traffic paying close attention. the last incident of on 3/29/18. the vehicle is currently in at the repair shop and the dealer service area is saying they can not even find a tsb on the issue.

Lift gate rusted around the emblems and tail lights within one year - they replaced it. less than 8 months later it started rusting again - they replaced it. is now rusting again and they will not do anything. blows heat through the vents when all controls are off and temperature is set to the coolest setting. latest issue is i was driving my kids home at night and when i tried to accelerate from a stop light the vehicle only moved slowly at the rpm went above 4,000 almost causing me to get rear ended. eventually i could get to 50 mph but anything over that and the rpm's would race over 4,000. took it to the dealership and am being told the transmission is shot and it will cost $3,500 and i only have 95,000 miles on it!

Turning out on road vehicle lost acceleration and then lost all acceleration. no warning , no engine light. pushed back to house and towed to nissan. cvt transmission was the problem and spent roughly 200 to tow and second diagnostic which nissan wanted to do . total quote 4460.00. it concerns me that there was no prior warning to this. just went out with the whole family in car.

I was driving from bloomington ca to phoenix az.. as i approached an incline on interstate 10 the vehicle began to climb the grade it suddenly began to loose speed and power. a whirring noise was comeing from the engine /transmission compartment. the vehicle quickly began to loose power and speed. it quickly went from 70 mph to about 10 mph. i luckily reached the top of the grade and pulled over to the side of the road. i could not pull over earlier because large semi-trucks were having to go around me. this caused a very dangerous situation since it is only a two lane highway and i was impeding traffic. when i pulled over i shut the engine off and opened the hood to see if there was some obvious reason for the problem. there was not.i let the engine cool a liitle then proceeded on to see if i could make it to my destination. i proceeded at a low speed until i got to to my destination. i had noticed in the past some issues with climbing inclines but never to the extent experienced presently. i went to the dealer in az and was toldit was the transmission and was probably caused by transmission overheating. since the trip was only a couple of days i will have to try to make it home as is.

While driving with cruise control on at apprx. 70 mph, car began to slow down dramatically to about 35 miles per hour, despite efforts to accelerate. pushed gas pedal to the floor to no avail. trucks had to swerve around me as i attempted to get in right hand lane and pull over. this has happened on several occasions. sound like the transmission is racing (quite noisy) have to stop turn car completely off and wait. cannot use cruise control as it is dangerous.

Car won't turn on randomly. we have replaced the battery five times. each time the car randomly stops working every few thousand miles. the car will take ten or eleven tries to start. this is extremely dangerous. if for any reason we ever needed to leave the car cannot start quickly. it happens randomly, not all the time (sometimes it starts fine after one turn, the next time it could take five minutes to finally start, then go back to fine). no one has been able to tell us what is the cause of this defect.

Nissian rogue 2013 looses transmission power climbing up low/medium/high grades (city and freeway). from town driving to city to long distance traveling any sort of grade. my 2013 nissan rogue went from 65 mph to 10 mph going up the "grapevine" on hwy 5 in california. my foot was all the way floored and my car would not go past 10 mph! large big rig trucks were honking at me in the slow lane and almost rear-ended me (trucks could not change lanes into the middle lanes due to traffic)!! as i slowly crept up the steep grade (from bakersfield, ca to los angeles, ca) and then descended, my car began to pick up speed again. car was not overheated, no unusual noises, smoke, or warning lights. took car into nissan service center in san diego. luckily, i purchased an extended warranty and they serviced my transmission. they reported to me that this is a "known problem with the 2013 rogues." "many transmissions have had to be replaced in the nissan 2013 rogues due to loss of acceleration power, whether city or freeway driving."! i was extremely scared at the immediate loss of power in my vehicle as i tried to accelerate on the grade while big rigs were coming very close to my car! this is a serious problem and can cause fatalities!! big rig trucks cannot slow down instantly and if they are behind a nissan rogue that looses acceleration power!! this is a family vehicle and it is very scary to think about the loss of life because nissan was negligent in recalling known transmission problems. i've researched similar situations as what i experienced in my own 2013 nissan rogue and there are many documented complaints, multiple transmission replacements in vehicles less than 5 years old, and yet the problem continues!

Cvt transmission was the issue all along i bought my 2013 in december of 2017 had it for a few weeks and the engine lights comes on. call the place where i got it to tell them i was bringing back. then next day it was gone off. february it came back on had my mechanic look at it couldn’t find anything wrong. a few weeks more i noticed it was hesitanting but it stopped quickly. 3 weeks ago the engine light came back on my mechanic said it’s the motor mount sensor i replaced it. a month before this my car wouldn’t go into park so i replaced the shift gear. both shift gear and motor sensor valve costing around 800.driving to iowa on the highway my car struggled going up steep roads making it very dangerous in front of 18 wheeler trucks. now the engine light back on went to my mechanic and a transmission specialist and they said it’s the cvt transmission. i’ve had this vehicle 6 months nissan you need to do a recall on 2013 rogue with these cvt transmissions people buy vehicles trusting they will have for awhile . i’m paying a note on this car for another 4 years and don’t know what i’m going to do nissan assist your consumers with this problem

I took my car to the dealership on june 17, 2016 because as i was driving, the car would not go over 80 mph, and the pedal was to floor. there was also a whistling sound anytime that i accelerated. at that time, the car had 50,616 miles on it, and was still under warranty. they flushed my transmission and replaced the fluid. i paid $210.23 for this service, which i now realize that i should not have had to pay anything, since the transmission was still under warranty, and this is a known defect. i am again having the same problems, i was driving and my car would not go above 60 mph, and the whistling sound when accelerating has returned. the needle also jumps when initially accelerating. i took it back to the same dealership, and they told me that i need a new transmission and cooling unit. they quoted me $6,000.00 for the repair. the car now has 107,846 miles on it. i inquired about nissan extending the warranty to 120k miles because of all of the issues that they are having with the cvt transmissions. i was told that my car was not included in the extended warranty, even though it is having the exact same problem as all the other defective transmissions. this is a known issue with nissan cvt transmissions, i get regular maintenance at the dealership, and the car was new when i purchased it. i was instructed to stop driving the car until it is repaired, as it is a safety hazard.

Multiple cvt failures while driving at highway speeds causing near collision. cvt total failures requiring replace of cvt (25,000 mi) and valve body and manifold (~60,000). manufacturing defect still exists in nissan cvt but warranty extension only exist for older models. "2003-2010 vehicles equipped with a continuously variable transmission (cvt) also have a 10-year /120,000 mile cvt limited warranty extension." blatantly obvious the problem remains in the cvt causing loss of acceleration at highway speeds.

Loss of acceleration due to overheated transmission; my 2013 nissan rogue with 66,000 miles on it started to lose acceleration on a major interstate (65mph to 30mph). i took it to my local dealership and they told me that this is a common problem with rogues, and that my transmission fluid was basically getting so hot it was boiling and had caused major damage to my valve body. i had to replace the valve body and put in an external coolant system which cost $2700. the repairs were not covered by nissan as my transmission warranty was only up to 60,000 miles, however this is a serious manufacturing issue that needs to be addressed by nissan.

I've owned the car about a year. it has 77,000 miles on it. recently the transmission has begunh to fail when encountering the slightest of inclined slopes on the highway. it will suddenly drop out of cruise control and lose about 10mph, dropping to around 60 mph. the last time this happened, i left the highway, stopped at a stop light and when the light changed, the car would not move until i changed to low gear. my allison transmission guy tells me he's replaced a lot of these transmissions and they have the poorest warranty of any transmission, only 1 year or 12,000 miles. he said i probably would not get another 77,000 miles even with a new transmission.

I was driving in arizona on a highway in my 2013 nissan rogue. the vehicle has 54,000 miles. the speed limit was 75 mph. suddenly the vehicle would not let me accelerate, the rmps would not let me go past 2500. i was driving in the left lane on a two lane highway and could not pull over due to other traffic. the temperature gauge was not even half way. no service or engine lights engaged. kicked the car out of cruise control and couldn’t turn the air conditioning on. this has happened a few times in the past. the 2013 does not have the extended warranty for the transmission so nissan continuously tells me they cannot help me.

If car is in drive but stationary (like in a traffic light), the engine starts to vibrate substantially forcing the driver to shift to neutral. by doing the above the car can move backward impacting other vehicles, cars etc.

This vehicle has what has been called a cvt transmission issue. it has been well documented by hundreds of drivers across the country (all with the same problem). while driving 80 miles per hour in the fast lane the vehicle lost all power and went to 10 miles per hour in a matter of seconds, my wife was driving and we both panicked as we were on a busy highway. she started to move to the slower lanes, but had semi trucks running close behind us as well as other vehicles, we put on the emergency flashers and slowly made it across to the emergency lane, but not before we were almost in a horrible accident. we had two semis that came within a matter of 1-2 feet of hitting us. we went from 80 mph to 5 mph in a matter of seconds and then finally lost all power completely. we waited with the car off for almost 30 minutes, we started the car again and got back on the freeway, we traveled another 50 miles and the car did the same thing again!! this time we stayed in the right lane! we have had several issues since, and have had near death incidents with this vehicle. nissan knows of this issue, it is a cvt problem with their transmission, their dealer service departments know what to do. the diagnostic code is p0744 replace the valve body on transmission. they know the issue, but will not do a recall. it cost us $1,900. the car is a death trap. my wife and i do not feel safe driving this vehicle, but we can not afford a new one. nissan will not help our car has 94,443 miles on it, and is out of their warranty. there are hundreds of these issues reported and nissan turns their heads with this potential deadly issue. what will it take, a death to get some attention to this serious issue? nissan needs to fix this problem. it is a repetitive issue as well. (this problem has happened numerous times)

The cvt belt causes the car to stall out while in driving conditions. while driving and pull up to a stop while the car is at normal operating temperature the car will stall and won't take off. some intersections i have approached have almost caused accidents so to this problem. i fear for my family and the other drivers on the road due to this problem.

After driving vehicle for over an hr in warm to hot weather or when towing the vehicle suddenly losses ability to accelerate and seems to enter limp mode. based on research many others also have same complaint and either require transmission replace or a larger transmission cooler. as vehicle is just over a month out of warranty even after experiencing similar problem in dec on trip(in warranty time period) nissan will not cover repair. this is a safety issue as you can not move at highway speeds on freeway max speed is 5-60 downhill 40s uphill. nissan extended warranty on 2007-2010 and need to do the same here.

While driving on the interstate, vehicle looses acceleration. will not accelerate even with gas pedal to the floor. this is very dangerous when your car drops to 40-50 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Takata recall. while driving the vehicle after an hour the car lost power and won’t go any faster and starts to shake as the gas pedal is depressed to the floor. no power up hill and this vehicle problem should be addressed immediately as it could leave the driver stranded on the side of the on a long trip.

Driving on interstate at 70 mph, when car suddenly reduced to 50 mhp in jackson ms, almost got hit from behind by 18 wheeler. took it to the dealer in meridian ms and they stated the cause of the transmission failure and damage are due to boiling coolant. the boiling coolant is caused by the coolant system that can not cool the coolant liquid fast enough. this only happens if you are driving on highway for a very long hours. dealer suggested replacing the cvt transmission ($4000), nissan advices to add a second external cvt oil cooler kit ($900) to prevent coolant liquid from boiling and to protect the transmission. i had extended warranty, they will not cover this issue. it's a known issue and it's nissan's design flaw. warranty companies know about it and they will not cover for this particular issue despite of their contract says transmission is covered. nissan offered to pay for half of the repairs. they did admit it was a design flaw on phone.

In april of 2017 while driving ther wa a metal on metal sound coming from underneth the car while stepping or accerlating on the gas. after taking to my mechanic i was advise that i needed a new catalytic converter there was no engine light notification. i recieved a letter in november 2017 from nissan stating that the evaporative emission vapor tube may develop a clog. after speaking with my mechanic he stated i should filed a claim which i did . nissan stated that my new catalyic converter had nothing to do with my emmissions. i refiled my cliam after having my mechanic wrote a narrative i then recieve an e-mail from nissan stating that after reviewing my vehicle indentification number, there is no evaporative vent tube warranty extension related to the vin and those would be the reasons why the request would be deined.

Tamara recall i was driving with my family and or dog when the car went from 50mile a hr. to 25 mile a hr. with out any notice and this happened on a road where there is a lot of traffic and there is no room to make an emergency stop so i with online to see if other people where have this problem and it seems like there is a whole community of people that have this problem the nissan is aware of it and they’re not doing anything about this this is a safety issue i read about somebody on the highway going 65 miles an hour in their car drop down to 30 miles an hour and they had to call for a tow truck i feel that there needs to be something done about this and it needs to be talked into i think the cvt transmissions are a good idea but there’s a lot of flaws and safety issues with them it’s just a matter of time until somebody gets an accident because their cvt failed and i don’t want that to happen to me or my family or anybody else in their family!!

I was driving on a major highway and all of a sudden i loss power, the car never turned off but as i pressed on the gas pedal it wouldn't accelerate so i had to coast from the left lane all the way to the right lane to get to the emergency lane. mind you there is oncoming traffic blowing there horn because of course i'm clearly not going the speed limit on the highway. i had to call a tow truck to take me to the closest nissan dealership which i'm not familiar with because i'm out of town. but once i get there they tell me my transmission is out and i need a new one. i bought this car in 2013 brand new i'm the only driver and my transmission goes out in 2017. i still don't believe it's my transmission but who am i to argue but i have to put up $4,200 and i'm still paying on this vehicle!!! i should have went with my first mind and got my cadillac. i will be trading this nissan rogue in and inform everyone i know not to purchase a nissan at all. my warranty doesn't cover a thing, wow!!! i've had 2 other mechanics look at and they say it could be my sensors because my speedometer still moves when you give it gas and if it sits a while it will go forward and backward but not for over a mile or two. i really wasted my money on this vehicle.

On january 23, 2015 there was a recall of my vehicle. i was not notified by my dealer of the recall. i just saw it today when checking my credit karma account. my nissan dealership should have inspected the kick panel wiring harness connector on my car for damage. if no damage was detected, my vehicle was supposed to receive a waterproof seal for the harness. if damage was found, the dealer was to install a new harness connector and the waterproof seal.

With around 60k miles i noticed that when driving extended distances, my nissan rogue would not allow me accelerate pass 65mph. i had never experienced this before so i took it to my local dealership to have it evaluated and see if any computer codes popped up. nothing came up. this issue kept going on so i took it back a year later around 79k miles and suddenly some codes appeared for cvt issues. they said i would need an entirely new cvt. i have been fighting this with nissan and have found no resolution. i don't feel like this is something that i should have to cover seeing as though there was an extended nissan warranty issued of 120,000 miles/10 years for 2010 and earlier models. obviously, they haven't fixed the issues because there are hundreds of owners having this same issue. google it or search nissan forums. it's not fair to the consumer. i am a single mom and still have over $16k to pay on this vehicle. it is my only means of transportation. i was driving out of town for the christmas holiday with my 4 year old daughter in the car and the transmission went into full limp mode on the interstate jeopardizing our safety. my car ended up being left on the side of the road. now i have to figure out how to tow it back to my local dealership when finances are already tight during this time of the year in a one income household. nissan seems uninterested in issuing a new extended warranty for these vehicles but maybe this is something nhtsa can push for. someone has to look out for the consumer. any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I was in the middle of a busy intersection getting ready to cross onto the highway, when i noticed that my vehicle would not fully accelerate. when i got over 40mph, i began to hear strange noises coming from my engine, like a whistling or wining sound. i have previously heard like a squeaking noise while driving my vehicle before, but thought that maybe it was my brakes, because i old heard it sometimes when i would come to a stop, or pull off. just last month i put a new battery in my vehicle, but my car just shut down on me one night while i was out. then a couple weeks later i notice these noises i just refered to. my check engine light then comes on maybe a week or two after i just put a new battery inside my car! again i think maybe its just something small. i always get regular maintenance done, so i knew that i was due for a transmission flush aiso..not a mechanic, so thinking that maybe that was why my light was on. i then ended up paying about $200 for the flush, and my light was still on. i went to a couple different auto shops and let then check my light only to be told that i needed to take it to a nissan dealer because they think its the transmission or maybe the o2 sensor, but only a nissan dealer can confirm that!. so i did, only to spend an extra almost $100 for a diagnostic test, when i told them what was said. so final results: i need to replace my ctv transmission on this vehicle that i have only had since feb. 2016 and still have a loan out!!! and file 2 claims with nissan, that took ten days, only for them to tell my they will not be reimbursing, or replacing, or assisting with this because they vehicle does not have a current recall for this make, model, and year. however, they are aware that there are recalls on previous models of the same vehicle for the same issue!!!!!!!

My 2013 nissan rogue suddenly began losing acceleration ability. the rpm’s would rev up high with no increase in speed. this happened on several occasions while driving in traffic with the car behind me having to slam on brakes or swerve to avoid impact. even more dangerous, the vehicle has done this when turning left across traffic lanes. even with plenty of time to turn, the vehicle would not accelerate as it barely crawled with oncoming traffic coming quickly. if the other vehicles had not been able to slow down or change lanes to avoid my seemingly stalled car, there would’ve been a major accident. this happened multiple times in traffic, turning across oncoming traffic lanes, as well as pulling out onto highways & busy streets. i was too terrified to drive the car for fear of causing an accident that could kill my self & my children that i had to stop driving my nissan until i could get enough money to replace the transmission. i am self-employed so this caused a major hardship. i am convinced that the cvt transmission will cause serious and fatal accidents, and probably already has, if nissan does not do something about this flawed transmission.

At approximately 6:30am, i woke up to my vehicle alarm sounding. the vehicle did not respond to the remote when i attempted to shut it off. i went to check what was the problem as the vehicle was parked in the driveway. the vehicle was on fire. fdny was called to put out the fire.

Cvt transmission with 117,000 miles. told by dealer i need a new transmission @ a cost of $4k for a remanufactured transmission. nissan extended transmission warranty to 120,000 miles for '03-'10 nissan rogue model years but refuse to pay for or at least partially cover cost to replace transmission. dealer said nissan rogue cvt transmissions continues to be an ongoing problem for model years later then 2010. nissan will only warranty a remanufactured transmission for 1 year or 12,000 miles which shows nissan has little confidence in the existing design of their cvt transmissions.

The car has went into limp mode several times. once with two small kids on the interstate almost causing an accident. the latest time i was unable to get it out of limp mode and had just exited the interstate. now i have a wonderful yard ornament on which i make payments. there has to be a recall at some point. after reading on the internet it is not an iisolated event. will a family need to die to get this fixed?

A little over 2 months of buying the vehicle i noticed a light on the dash broad so i bought it in to be serviced only to find out i needed to replace the airbag clutch. as long as the motor was running the light would stay on.

Driving my rogue at 45mph on 10/13/2017. decelerated to make a right turn. then attempted to accelerate after the turn. the rogue jerked and decelerated and turned off. i steered the car to the soft shoulder. attempted to start rogue. started but then stalled. it eventually started after sitting by road for 5 minutes. no problems with rogue until 10/20/2017. was driving at 55 mph with a semi behind me on 2 lane highway. the rogue starts to decelerate and jerking. i pull to the side of the road in enough time not to be hit by the semi. rogue totally stopped working. i got it restarted and drove home at 40 mph. called and got a repair appointment on 10/24/17. it was a mass air flow sensor that was broken.

"takata recall" this complaint is concerning the transmission control body valve and cooler kit assy. after checking other sites and talking with the company that warrant my car i discover that nissan was aware of this problem and because it's not a safety issue nissan refuse to do a recall. other owner have also experience the same problem of one similar to it, while driving on the highway car loose power. i read on one of the investigation site that no company will warrant the cvt transmission by nissan.

Half way into a 4 hour trip home from the beach, on a major interstate highway, our 2013 nissan rogue experienced loss of acceleration. the temperature this day was probably around 85 degrees. we had been traveling at an average speed of 70-75 mph. with the gas pedal all the way to the floor, it would not go over 60 mph, and would start to decelerate even further going up hills. we decided to exit the highway. at the bottom of the ramp, while trying to pull out into traffic, the car would only go about 5 miles per hour. we were afraid we would be hit by oncoming traffic before we could get pulled off the road safely. we pulled into a travel plaza, filled the car with gas, and got lunch. twenty minutes later we started up the car and it appeared to act normally, so we decided to continue with our trip. this was approximately 6 weeks ago and it hasn't happened since. there is a loud whining sound coming from the engine that appears to be getting worse, especially when traveling on a large highway at highway speed.

There is a known default with the year and make of vehicle i own, yet nissan has failed to issue a recall, even though it could result in death. when driving the vehicle for 1.5 hours or more at speeds of 65 mph or greater, the transmission overheats, and causes you to lose acceleration and power. i lost power on the parkway, was unable to move from the right lane, i couldn't even make it to the shoulder before losing all ability to accelerate my vehicle. nissan recommends adding an external part to the transmission to cool the transmission fluid, but the part is more than $700. i would think that this issue would be very similar to the issue with the chrysler ignition switches. if i am driving my car 70 mph or more on the interstate, and suddenly lose power, i am likely going to get hit, and if the other vehicles are traveling 70 mph or more, that is going to cause very serious injuries at the very least. there are many, many complaints about this known issue on nissan forums.

Monday, october 16, 2017, while on my way to work, the driver's side airbag light began blinking. before driving home that evening i reset it. the blinking stopped momentarily. i then scheduled an appointment (10.19.17) with action nissan here is nashville, tn where they diagnosed the problem as an airbag spring malfunction which will not allow the airbag to properly deploy.

Cvt transmission. one owner comepletes all regular maintenance. while driving on the interstate the car makes a whining noise, loses power and will not accelerate. this caused semis to grid lock i moved off road to avoid getting hit and causing a multi car pile up. i look up and see complaints of the same nature by the 100's and sadly nissan isn't willing to address the issue with the cvt on later models but extended the warranty on previous models with the same transmission.

Out of no where my driver door stopped responding to the button on the key or open switch inside. in order to properly lock or unlock my car i must manually insert the key . this happened out of no where. at first i though the batter died on the key so i replaced it and nothing.

I'm driving on the highway 5 freeway. listening to music. all of a sudden i start hearing a whistling, and whining sound. i thought it was the radio so i turned it down. it's my car making that noise. so i start to pull over and i have no power. it barely gets off the freeway within 5 mins of me hearing the noise my car is smoking. i'm with my son. there was no warning or anything it just happened. i have my oil changes on time. i had on the day before. then this happens

I have a 2013 nissan rogue and i started have a noise when i turn my steering well. my technician said that there had been problems with electrical and steering issues. when i back up or turn this noise is happening.

All you have to do is go online and read consumer complaints about various nissan transmission problems. i can tell you from personal experience that people can get hurt or killed in these vehicles. the transmissions in these autos overheat and when this happens acceleration declines. pedal to the metal you are driving 50 mph on the expressway. cars are blowing horns. finally the tranny just goes completely out. try being in the center lane on i 75 coasting abruptly to a crawl and trying to move over without getting hit by cars driving 70 mph or more. i almost caused a major pileup while fighting to get off road. read other horror stories online. i have owned all types vehicles in my 64 years but i have never felt like my life was threatened because of mechanical issues. this is not a safe car. some owners have installed two or more transmissions. not to mention the cost. please save lives and make nissan correct this problem. 2009-2013 are the worst. my daughter owns a 2011 nissan sentra. she pulled from a stop sign and had plenty of time but as her car lost acceleration she was almost rear ended by a dump truck.. she called me crying. she has driven for 17 years and was terrified. i read stories of drivers who were attempting to make a left turn and as they sped up to cross the highway their car just creeps out in front of oncoming vehicles. check with service centers as well and you will realize this is a major issue with nissans. the altimas, the sentras, the rogues, the pathfinders. they have major issues. they need to recall these cvt transmissions and make them safe. i am upset over paying 3500.00 to repair this car but more upset that company is allowed to play with my life and the lives of others. i have never had a car this unsafe. thanks for listening. please check out what i have said. there are plenty more unhappy nissan owners out there.

The nissan rogue 2013 has approximately 70,000 miles on it, and after extensive research have found my vehicle is not the only one that has a faulty cvt installed. nissan is fully aware of the hazard they have been selling since 2008. their vehicles enter "safe mode" after driving longer than an hour due to transmission fluid overheating, as a result of not having a cooler/fan. this safe mode causes your vehicle to lose power immediately and is very dangerous when driving on interstate or even highly trafficked areas. i have contacted nissan customer service and they refuse to claim responsibility. this mechanical issue cannot be found by nissan car repairsmen because it is factory installed that way. please get recall. i have a 4 month old baby who's life is at stake

The vehicle idles and vibrates constantly when the gas pedal is used. my wheel may not vibrate 10 minutes out of a half hour drive. it either barely will take off from start or it completely floors it and excels. feels like a diesel rugged vehicle and not a smooth normal ride like any car or suv should ride. i complained the day it was purchased and have hated it ever since.

While driving at a speed of 65 mph on the interstate in heavy traffic the vehicle started loosing power at a fast rate causing me to have to coast off the interstate onto the shoulder of the interstate. the vehicle is still idling but will not go forward. after approximately 15 to 20 minutes the vehicle will go again. but again after a few miles of driving on the interstate at a speed of 65 to 70 mph the vehicle again starts loosing power causing us again to pull over to the shoulder in heavy traffic on the interstate. when we return home i did some digging into the history of this vehicle with this particular transmission and find many complaints with the same problem. after having nissan service department look into it they find the transmission is overheating causing it to shut down. our warranty will cover the cost of repair but nissan requires an cooler to be placed on the transmission before it can be completely repaired due to this issue occurring in this particular transmission but the consumer has to pay out of pocket approximately $1000.00 for this cooler to be added to the vehicle because the cooler is an addition to the drive train. this is an ongoing issue nissan has with this particular transmission, we were very lucky both times this has happened on the interstate in heavy traffic to get off the interstate going from a high rate of speed to completely loosing power without causing an accident.

I was driving on the highway. the transmission began whinig loudly. suddenly, there was a loss of power. even though i was giving it gas, it was only reving the engine higher. the automobile behind me almost slammed into me and i almost caused an accident as i decelerated because of the tranmission failure.

When i was driving all of the sudden the vehicle started to slow down and would not accelerate. i had the gas pedal pushed all the way to the floor and it would not go past 40 mph this has happened several times. i was on interstate 10 returning home from houston tx on august 17, 2017. i had no problems on the way to houston. i had been doing the speed limit which was between 65 and 75 without the cruise control on. i have been reading up on this and i have found out it is a reoccurring problem with nissan's rouges and has been for years and that it is known about when you go to the dealerships about the problem.

I almost died this weekend in my 2013 nissan rogue!!! going speed limit of 75 mph uphill from phoenix to prescott on i117 freeway. after driving for about an hour and at an elevation of about 3,500 feet outside of a town called "bumble bee" my nissan rogue without warning or any indicator lights coming on, begins to gradually decelerate down to just above 40 mph. two lane highway with no shoulders on either side...very dangerous and now i am down to going a mere 30-40 mph on a highway where speed limit is 75 miles per hour!!! rogue gradually slows down even though i have my foot depressed fully on the gas, pushing with all my weight all the way down to the floor board. semi truck is coming up very quickly behind me and didn't anticipate me slowing down especially since my brake was not depressed and almost rear ended me. semi truck literally had to gear down and switch lanes since he could not slow down in time to avoid hitting me. scared the life out of me but there was no where i could go! literally had to put on hazards and continue at 40 mph or so for next 20 miles until i could exit onto highway 89, pull over and stop. this vehicle is a death trap and someone will be fatally injured just as i almost was this past weekend. i do not feel safe in my 2013 nissan rogue and am terrified to drive my children around in it. took to nissan dealer today and apparently nissan is well aware of the issues. it is a problem with the transmission oil heating up and rogue going into a "fail safe" mode and decelerating. cvt needs to be added or replaced! why is this vehicle not being recalled!? are they waiting for someone to die or for a class action lawsuit to ensue before doing what is morally and ethically right!? shame on you nissan for letting corporate greed and profits mean more to you than safety!

Air bag warning signal is on (flashing) all the time. i don't feel safe

At around 56,000 miles the engine would rev on its own when id go up hill then no problems until 6 mths ago where @ 66,000 miles the car would desperate on its own from 70mph to 55 then 25 on the highway. i had to drive with my hazards on. i would then push the gas pedal to the floor and it would take 10 seconds to get to 50mph. the car has no power it seems like.

Cvt issues. whenever i am driving at high speeds (over 60 mph) uphill, my transmission fails. a couple times, the car has completely stopped. i have floored the gas pedal and my car still won't move. this has been very frightening, as i am on the freeway and someone could very easily crash into me when the transmission fails. there has been an extended warranty on the cvt for previous models but it is apparently still an issue.

I own a 2013 nissan rogue.that i have kept up the service on at the dealership for everything, but while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly failed to accelerate properly. the failure was intermittent.the mileage was between 80,000.to 85,000. at that point the rogue becomes unresponsive and can't accelerate past 40 mph. this is incredibly dangerous and it has left my family and i stranded on the interstate 3 times, now i can't trust this vehicle at all and fear for the safety of my family. and nissan for some reason can't find anything wrong when they hook it up to the computer because there is no code error. I recently bought my rogue at the auto nation nissan dealership in marietta. i began my first long distance trip back home on the hwy and the car began to lose speed. i had to stop on the side of the interstate to properly assess the situation. figured it could have been just a fluke, began to get back on the road and with my foot all the way down on the floor, the car would barely run. called nissan dealership and the service manager suggests that i turn my car off and let it sit because it's overheating due to ga weather. now, it is hot, but there are millions of cars in ga that don't have to sit every hour you're on the road. he said after then, to just drive on the hwy at about 60mph. sir this is the interstate. not possible. people will run over you. took it right back to nissan and a few days later, they stated to me that there was nothing they could do. they did not properly assess the situation as the service manager told me that he drove it on the city streets. i get online and research only to find that others are having the same issues. i don't want anyone to have to go through this, nissan needs to recall this vehicle. it is terrible. essentially, you're paying for a glorified scooter! i need this problem taken care of immediately!

I am having the same cvt transmission issues as a lot of people. it overheats while driving on the interstate for longer than 45 minutes on a warm day and the vehicle becomes unresponsive and can't accelerate past 40 mph. this is incredibly dangerous and has left my family and i stranded on the interstate a few times now. i can't trust this vehicle at all and fear for the safety of my family. nissan can't find anything wrong when they hook it up to the computer because there is no code error at this point and it won't do it when the dealership is just cruising around town for 15 minutes (surprise surprise and a very convenient issue for nissan). i have a complaint filed with nissan and i am bringing it to the dealership again for inspection. i hope they actually find something because if they can't its incredibly negligent on nissan's part and is a known issue it seems from simple research. a recall is needed asap. this is incredibly unsafe, especially when in the middle of a busy interstate and the car is unresponsive. nhtsa please do something.

Just bought a used 2013 nissan rogue 2 weeks ago, it has 51k miles on it and it has all of the same problems listed by everyone else in these reviews in regards to the cvt transmission. after researching to see what might be wrong with this car i am seeing all of the deceleration issues, notably on inclines and i also cannot believe there is no manufacturers recall. a problem i'm not sure if anyone else has encountered was after about 2 hours of use, trying to pull out into traffic from a parking lot or out of a tool booth there is zero power, i can't express how dangerous this is. nissan please do something about this, we are hard working people and none of us will ever consider another nissan if this can't be fixed.

During my travel from maryland to ohio. my nissan rogue 2013 experienced problems going up mountains in the middle of my travel. the suv would not go pass 45mph even when i pushed the accelerator pedal to the floor. i took the suv to the first nissan dealer that i saw at my destination and was told that the transmission was "slipping" and the transmission fluid was overheated. the problem with this transmission was dangerous. it could have caused a crash/collision and could have injured or killed my children and i.

About 120 miles into a trip to virginia from hartford, ct, my 2013 nissan rogue began to lose power. my car currently only has 68,709 miles on it. the "check engine" light came on. flooring the gas pedal, i continuously lost power and just prayed i wouldn't lose power with a semi truck behind me. i made it to virginia, but on my way back i was climbing a hill and my acceleration decreased dramatically. the car began to buck and i could only go about 35 miles per hour up the hill. when i got to the top of the hill and gravity took over, the problem ended. within a week after finally getting home, i took the car to harte nissan dealership in hartford, ct. they told me it was my cvt, a transmission issue and that i would have to pay for the entire cost of repair. as i drove away from the dealership, a low grumbling and grinding noise could be heard. the car was bucking badly from about 15-40mph. i turned around and had them look at it again and they basically told me that my transmission was in the process of dying. i drove away again and almost immediately the car was losing power on acceleration, until finally, within about a 1/4 mile away from my home, the car bucked one last time and stopped moving. again, this was at a busy intersection with cars coming up very close behind me. i have called nissan usa and they told me there was a recall on the cvt for rogues only up to 2010. i believe this problem has extended far beyond 2010 to other rogues, including mine.

Purchased a used 2013 nissan rogue awd from hertz car sales not even a year ago. 18 year old daughter has had 3 near fatal accidents as car loses acceleration suddenly while she was traveling on the highway at high speed . if she is going up a hill, the car goes from 60 to nothing and she must quickly pull off the highway before someone back ends her! we are all deathly afraid to drive this car anymore. will it take a death before a recall of this vehicle and it's defective transmission is initiated?

While driving speed the limit of 70mph my car reduce speed to 40mph...on the highway .i could not increase the speed... i try byy pushing the paddle to the floor it still would not increase speed. now it began to make noise as if it had a cold and the engine lite comes on. so i stop at auto one to have it check and it said that the torque converter was having problem. since this is a major problem . i went to my mechanic..and he check everything to see what was wrong..change the oil, and all suppose to be replace. and also added a cleaning fluid to clean out any clogs and dirt... now it's been six month and once again i have the same problem with the cvt..so now i take it to the dealership. same thing ...oil change and so on. i very scar now because my car is reacting badly and no one can't see the problem. so i google my problem and found that 7 people with the same problem with their nissan rrogue. i believe this is a major problem with the making of this model car . and it's not something that can be fix without taking the transmission completely apart which will cost 3,000 and not included labor... i purchase my car two years ago it should not be acting this way and neither should the seven other people that purchase these vehicle. when will someone correct this when someone get seriously hurt.

Brought our vehicle to the dealer 6/21/16 to be serviced for failure to accelerate after coming to a stop at intersections. at first we were told it was the cvt and we'd need a new transmission. then they replaced a valve and said it was fine. two days later the car jerks and shudders while driving below 45 mph and violently shudders and shakes while stationary; feels like something is pushing it. malfunction indicator light went on after this. brought it back to the dealer and was told there is a "misfire" and that it's completely separate from the previous problem. waiting to hear the diagnosis. seeing many similar complaints online with most relating to the cvt. it's very scary to be in the car with my kids when it was jerking and shuddering.

We drove an hour on the highway and suddenly the rpms went over 4000, and the car started decelerating, we were unable to get or keep highway speed, even with pedal all the way to the floor. luckily we were able to pull to side of highway. after 15 minutes it seemed to function, but a mile later it did the same thing. even worse on any sort of incline, even slight. for fear of our safety, we had to have vehicle towed 55 miles back home. i looked it up and am wondering why there is no recall?? our safety as well as others also on the road is at risk!

I went to use the jack provided by nissan to change a flat tire. this was the first time the jack had ever been used. as i started to elevate the vehicle higher i noticed the jack started to bend and collapse, as the screw mechanism also started to bend. the attached photos probably do not truly show how much both the frame & screw of the jack had actually bent. i had to use another jack to get the faulty one out from under the vehicle. afterwards with the assistance of a vice, i was able to close the defective jack and in doing so it somewhat straightened the screw and frame. the screw was severely concave, and the jack frame listed a lot with the vehicle weight. i was fortunate to be doing this on a concrete driveway at home. the emergency brake was fully engaged, the transmission was in park with the engine off, and i had wooden blocks behind the rear tires. my concern was that had this happened on the side of a road, and i didn't have a second jack; or had not noticed the bending, myself or anyone else in a similar situation could have been seriously injured. in doing an internet search afterwards, i found a number of owners who had the same problem with this particular scissor jack from the same make, model & year.

We were taking a trip to washington dc from florida and when we got onto 95 i turned the cruise control on to set at 75 about an hour later it started loosing acceleration. turned the cruise control off and kept losing acceleration . had to let cars pass so i could get over into right lane to get off on exit. let the car sit for 30 minutes.proceeded to head back home without cruise control and car did fine. very scary experience. i guess someone has to die to recall this problem. i researched complaints and this has been going on since 2010 rogues.

Stopped at a stoplight and try to accelerate but nothing happens, cannot get above 3000 rpms. after about 20 seconds, the car begins to accelerate. this has happened twice so far and i'm seeing many complaints about this on various years of nissan rogues. this is obviously an issue and needs to be addressed by nissan.

Lost the ability to speed up after traveling above 70 for an hour and a half. car began slowing down and i had to pull off on the side of the road, turned the car off and waited about 10-15 minutes before i could accelerate again.

While driving on the interstate in a mountainous area, out of nowhere my car would no longer accelerate. i had to pull off of the road and restart the car to resolve the issue. now this is happening on a regular basis if i drive my car for longer than an hour at 60+ mph, it will suddenly stop accelerating. in addition, in the last few days, after coming to a complete stop on the interstate off ramp, i tried to accelerate from a complete stop and the car just barely moved, enough for me to have pulled into oncoming traffic, but not enough to keep going to get myself out of the way. i had to quickly reverse to move my car from the middle of the road. if there had been a car behind me and i was unable to reverse i would have been hit. this problem has been reported over and over again as an issue with the cvt. my car is only a 2013 and just barely over the (crappy) powertrain warranty that nissan offers on this car.

After driving for long periods of time, the car will suddently and continually fail to accelerate over a certain speed even with the fuel pedal pressed to the floor. i believe the car goes into a fail safe mode due to an issue with the transmission. this happened on the interstate and i could not longer even get up to the speed limit

Started 3 day ago stalling while driving down the road. the steering wheel locks up and lose power even with the accelerator all the way down. almost got rear ended. the engine is still running but have to put in park and turn engine off and restart. happened 4 times today on my way to work. you lose power with everything but engine still working. called nissan to see if there was a recall because there were a lot of complaints with this same problem and they said no. this is a very serious problem that needs to be investigated. nissan wanted me to bring to dealership and pay 114.00 just to get a diagnois .online they said it was a fail safety which nissan should be responsible before someone gets badly hurt or killed.

Loss of power while driving and unable to keep up with traffic. was forced to move vehicle off roadway. behaved like not getting enough gasoline. to restore back to normal, had to shut engine off and restart engine. weather conditions were normal with no excessive temp. or humidity. roadway was flat and even.

When driving uphill the vehicle almost stalls and acts like it is not getting fuel, it slows dramatically and takes awhile to recover power. i cannot accelerate. if there is a vehicle behind me, it gets very close, very fast. this happens on regular black top roads and dirt roads.this vehicle also pops out of gear while driving on rough dirt roads and uphill (i live on a dirt road). this is not "off road driving." both of these problems are ongoing since i got this vehicle. at first i thought it was because it was new. then i thought i was driving incorrectly. now i know it is just the way the vehicle is. i feel very unsafe in this vehicle.

Takata recall. the air bags deployed for no apparent reason at all while my 25yr old daughter was driving my 2013 nissan rogue on the highway home from a charity event. when the air bags deployed, it caused my daughter to lose control and hit the guard rails. my daughter suffered severe head trauma, bleeding and bruises, injury to her eye, scratches and burns from whatever the substance was in the air bags. she spent the day in the hospital with numerous tests done, had some surgical procedures done, on medications. some of her bruises resulted in swellings and more bruises. she still has a long way to go and is still under the doctors' care. thank god she's alive but my truck was a total loss. my daughter's self-esteem is low because she's having a hard time dealing with the pain, scars and bruises. her slow recovery is still affecting her loss from work and inconvenience of even getting to work because the insurance companyhas deemed my truck a total loss. my daughter is still undergoing more medical treatment and i'm trying to concentrate on getting well and work about the medical bills later. she still has constant headaches daily because of her head injuries and now light is affecting her which cannot be controlled everywhere she goes. as a mother, i hate to see my daughter in this pain every day, i feel helpless. i want my daughter to have a bright future, but she's always sad or crying because of the pain. this is not fair.

During our family vacation in 2015, we were driving thru georgia and the car was set on cruise control. we were in some heavy traffic, and all of a sudden, the cruise kicked off, the car began a rapid deceleration, the rpm’s went to about 5,000 and we ended up causing a traffic snarl in 5 lanes of traffic until we could coast this vehicle off the highway. luckily for us, we were able to do so without injury to our vehicle or us personally. it became a clearly dangerous situation in a big hurry! we called a nissan dealership close by (found on the internet) and spoke to a service manager. they were about to close down for the day, he was kind enough to give us his personal cell number and told us to let the vehicle “rest” for about 30 minutes and then it should be fine to drive again. he explained that it was the transmission “safety mechanism” that had kicked in and it’s built to slow the system down to cool.we discovered many websites dedicated to problems with the 2013 nissan rogue cvt. failure, after failure were noted, and nissan will not take responsibility for repair or replacement costs. as the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty had expired the customer is forced to cover the cost of repair or replacement. the average cost being $4,200 for labor and parts. quite significant for any working family. i am asking for guidance in this issue, and any information would be appreciated where i should turn for assistance in resolving. as i stated above, i cannot afford to pay for this repair/replacement. if the transmission goes out, i will have a $22,000 piece of useless metal in my driveway. my family safety is a huge concern, and driving this vehicle in it’s current state makes me fearful for our family’s security and safety while driving.

2013 nissan rogue caught on fire less than 10 minutes after it was parked in driveway, after a short trip running errands. vehicle was not running when fire began. initially, smoke began to escape from under hood then quickly caught on fire. entire front end of vehicle burned before fire was extinguished.

I drive about 75 miles to and from work. during the summer, when i use my air conditioning in the afternoon drive home as i exit and come to a stop at the first stop sign i get no accelaration after the stop. this becomes a very dangerous situation when pulling out in front of cars already traveling in the lane i'm pulling into. the rest of the ride home at future stops it continues to happen. i now have to wait for a large gap in traffic to pull out causing traffic to back up behind me. this appears to be a common problem for anyone driving the rogue with the ac on for long distances. the transmissions isn't slipping, it simply has no power after the stops. it happens all the time on hot days in the summer when the ac is used for the ride home.

I was visiting family in arizona with my daughter (who is 100% handicap). my mother was in the back seat with my daughter. my father in the front passenger seat with me. child locks on and all doors locked as the car was in motion, stopped at a red light, got a green light to turn left, was making the turn and my daughter's door (right rear passenger door) flew open. my mother had to grab my daughter. i stopped in the middle of the road in phoenix, father jumped out of the vehicle, checked my daughter and the door and the child lock was still on. i called nissan and have an appointment but of course they have told me that they have never heard of this situation but to bring it in.

I have been having issues with my 2013 rouge. when the car warms up it starts making a humming sound. the rpm go up quickly and experience loss of power. it feels like the transmission is slipping. i brought it to the dealer and they confirm the noise and everything else i described. they told me that the transmission was burnt. they asked me to contact nissan for assistance since i had 64,000 miles on my vehicle and the warranty expired at 60,000 miles. after talking to the nissan representative he informed me that they couldn't assist me because the warranty had expired. my previous car was a 2008 rogue. i experience the same issue at 90,000 miles. back in 2010, nissan extended the warranty's for the 2008-2010 rogues. they said "nissan is taking these actions to demonstrate our confidence in the cvt technology and to show our commitment to stand behind our products." after my phone call nissan demonstrated that they are not confident in the cvt technology and that they do not stand behind their product. i brought the car to provide an safe traveling vehicles for my kids to be in. now, it has slowly become dangerous vehicle with this issue not knowing when the transmission is going to fail and leave us stranded.

My father was hit while driving his 2013 rogue while turning left. oncoming car hit right passenger side so hard the battery of the rogue was found two blocks away. the car was totaled. my mother was sitting behind my father on the driver side back seat. neither side air bags deployed. both sustained multiple injuries. my father died as a result. ..updated 12/11/17 *bf *js

The windshield spontaneously cracked about 18 inches from the passenger side toward the rear view mirror with nothing hitting the windshield. apparently it is a stress fracture in the glass that has been widely reported and should be claimed as a defect. the vehicle was parked when the crack occurred.

My wife was driving the vehicle off the freeway onto an exit ramp when the vehicle started to shut down and come to a complete stop on its own. the transmission was acting like it was ''slipping.'' she put it in park and restarted the vehicle and drove it two blocks to our home. the cvt transmission was replaced by our dealer.

I have a little over 75,000 and i am being told i need a new transmission . i am the only owner bought brand new never been ragged out have taken care of the maintenance on suv. the vehicle start ed having problem shifting it would rev up to about 4,000 rpms then shift and then it just stopped shifting all together. *tr

On friday august 28, 2015 while driving on interstate 93 in nh near mile marker 48 the vehicle while traveling at 75 mph loss all speed while the engine was at 5500 rmp. i pulled over from the passing lane into the breakdown lane while other vehicles where dodging me. i call aa for a tow and after about a 15 minute wait i restarted the car and everything was working. i called and cancelled aaa and proceed another 60 mile to north conway, nh without any problems. i've driven the car all week to work for about 120 mile per day with out any problems. a similar problem happen about a year ago while drive on interstate 89 in vermont. the car spreed went from 70 to 20 mph while the engine was reving at about 5000rpms. after about a mile the speed was recovered. i've informed the dealership salem nissan and was told there is no problem. this issue presents a problem with safety as the vehicle loses speed while traveling at high speeds.

My car has a cvt transmission that is very sensitive to heat. when it gets hot (which can occur when driving long distances, up hill or in hot weather) the car goes into safe mode that reduces the speed of the car dramatically and you have no acceleration power. i was traveling for about an hour and half at a constant speed of 75-80 on a flat to rolling freeway in the summer (temperate average here about 100*). all of a sudden i have no acceleration power. i start dropping speed on a two lane freeway with no shoulder and construction walls on either side when people are coming up on me at 90 mph. by the time i make it to the next exit, which is uphill, i am only driving 40 mph even though i have it floored. when i exit, stop at the (2 way) stop sign to pull into the rest stop a cross the road, i have to slam my foot to the floor to get my car to inch across the intersection. the whole time i hoped no other cars would come flying down the road that did not have a stop sign. once i get to the rest stop and turned my car off, it ran fine for the next hour and so and it happened again. scared me half to death. when i took it to the nissan dealership, they told me that nissan is aware of the issue (which many people have complained about) but unless they can duplicate the problem, they cannot fix it. so they drove my car for at 20 minute test run, then to lunch, then home at night (when it is not as hot) and cannot duplicate the problem. they are going to give my car back to me. i travel for work and often have to drive long distances, at freeway speeds in hot weather. i feel that this is a safety hazard if all a sudden i lose all power to my car on a freeway. i also feel that nissan should not require this problem to be duplicated when it is such a random scenario that causes it and the dealerships are not willing to test that type the scenario accurately

Traveling out of town on highway. speed of 75mph. about an hour into travel, power started to decrease,pressing the gas pedal had no effect. losing power had to pull off to side. almost had an accident, trying to avid being hit by ohter autos on highway. when i tried to pull back on road, there was no power a snail crawl, then in seconds it charged in to gear. heard a high pitch whinning noise. shortly after. it occurred again with in 24 hours, i called the dealership i bought my car from. then started my own investigation, and found this site. i am in shock how many others are having this same issue. nissan really put out a poor product, and they better correct. also when car was purchase with 250 miles est. gas per gallon ws suppose to be 28 higway- 22 in town.. i have never been able to get more then 20 mpg out of my auto. i have also seen a lot of complaints about this.

This 2013 nissan rogue lost acceleration completely when on a slight hill/incline. speed went from 60mph to 30mph in seconds, nearly causing a collision with a big rig truck on my side and a large vehicle coming up behind. the gas pedal was completely to the floor with no result in acceleration. when able to come to a complete stop, i had to power down vehicle completely. i opened the hood (hoping to cool the potentially hot engine to resolve) and restart. i had to restart a couple times to get the car to recognize being in "gear." there was no warning, no service engine light, nothing. the vehicle is current on oil changes, etc. this issue could have caused bodily harm or injury had i not been able to safely get to the side of the road, especially since we were on a hill and everyone is trying to maintain momentum behind me on a two lane road. this is clearly a safety concern. since that issue, the vehicle has now done it approximately 6 more times.

While driving my car for a few hours it start to loose power when going uphill this is very scary especially if i am driving with other traffic or in-front of a truck/trailer this is the third time i notice this issue and i am very concern about it.

While driving uphill, the cruise control dropped out while going 70mph and left me with no control of the gas pedal. it dropped about 20-25mph very quickly and i was nearly run over from behind, which left me quite shaken. i had no control of the gas pedal till hill was crested. this was and is a very dangerous condition that has left me wondering if i can ever trust the cruise control on my vehicle again. this defect has got to be fixed quickly before someone gets hurt. dealer says they are aware of this happening before but are getting no help from nissan.

First incident:while traveling on the freeway at 70mph(no use of cruise control) going up a steep hill the car suddenly lost power even with the gas pedal to the floor.fortunately we were able to pull over to the shouder and stop the car,after 15 minutes the car started and we drove home without any problem. second incident:driving from ca to az for family wedding on 04/28/2015 after driving for approx. 3 hours using periodic cruise control (cruise control not on during incident) and again driving on freeway at 75mph on level ground engine lost power and began decelerating quickly, not responding to gas pedal( which was floored) engine not reeving at all. lucky again turned on hazard lights avoided near collison pulled over on shoulder, turned the car off and waited.twenty minutes later turned car on and continued traveling. third incident: exactly the same as second incident only happened on the way home on may 4th 2015. fourth incident: june 12 2015 while traveling on highway in a mountainous region driving at 50mph car again lost all enign power(see above incidents)with same results.during all incidents the weather was hot temperature was at least 90 degrees. this is the same exact problem that was admitted by nissan for previous years ; hot weather, hills etc causing car to go to "fail safe mode" and it is being reported by nissan car owners past the recall dates of 2010. please do something before someone is killed.

Per nhtsa recall 15v-032: we took our vehicle in to our nissan dealer - continental nissan, anchorage, alaska to have this recall addressed. this was done last month. at that time they said they did not have the waterproof seal required to fix an undamaged piece, nor harnesses to fix a problem piece. at that time, they said they "checked it out" but would call us back as soon as parts arrived. they have our information, but in over four weeks have yet to contact us. since this is a safety recall, parts should have been expedited for our vehicle (as well as others) and we should have been contacted quickly to resolve this issue. since this has not been done and we were brushed off with the initial contact, i am filing this complaint as nissan --- and this dealer are not complying with the notice.

On saturday, may 16th heading on the 91 east by bellflower, ca. frwy i was driving and when a sudden stop i found it hard to make a stop because the brake felt as if it sunk in. i unfortunately hit a truck in front of me. the vehicle did not receive any damage but my nissan 2013 rogue did. i took pictures to show the damage. at the time of the accident, i was very concerned because the air bags did not deploy. the vehicle did receive a front impact but the air bags had no reaction to the hit. at the time of the accident i rode with my 3 children ages, 18, 15 and 11 and my fiancÉ. prior to this happening i took the vehicle to get it's maintenance and after this happening i was sure that the vehicle felt very different. it was almost as if it would accelerate and the brakes kept sinking in with having a delay in making a full stop. the vehicle is currently in a body shop through my insurance and i do not recall the mileage? this is very concerning and has been ever since receiving the recall letter regarding the possible electrical problem that might set a fire. please advise/help. thank you!

While waiting to here back from "nissan consumer affairs" about the transmission over heating and going into fail safe mode" after picking it up from the dealer on may 1, 2015, i am not going to sit back and not drive my vehicle until i am told so and if an accident occurs well so be that's why we have insurance just hopefully no one gets killed, so on sat may 2, 2015 i decided to head to philly 2hrs 20min trip 139miles i95 south just before entering philly i decided to pull off the hwy because i felt the car losing power as i exited the hwy i saw a mcdonald's and just made it into the parking lot once i stopped i tried all gears peddle to the floor it moved like a turtle in all gears, went to get a bit to eat let it sit started the car it was like the problem never existed at that moment i called "nissan consumer affairs" and left message as to what happened at that moment and then headed to my destination on the way back home not a problem, on monday may 4, 2015 still waiting to here back from "nissan consumer affairs" i decided to call the service manager at the last nissan dealer and explain the situation and he told me that there is a service bulletin tsb # ntb12-057 if the cvt transmission fluid temp. rises above a certain threshold the cvt goes into "fail safe mode" causing engine performance to be reduced "very nice" now here's the fun part it only applies from 2008-2011 rogues so if this the problem they need to extend it to further years and maybe that why none of the technician considered that tsb so i had to here it from the service manager, so i will be applying that service bulletin tsb # ntb12-057 at my friends shop on tues may 5, 2015 to see if this should solve the over heating problem and i also hope from all of the over heating it hasn't damaged the cvt transmission internally this is part 3 of 3... *tr

7 month's later again traveling from ny to pa 2 hr trip 112miles 287s to i78w all highway speed limit 65mph travel 70mph toward the end of the trip lost all power pedal to floor transmission whining this time i pulled over from the right lane to the shoulder went to check the transmission fluid and noticed white smoke again coming form the dip stick fluid seem to be ok, let it cool down for about 15min or so started the vehicle and it ran like nothing happened got to my destination again coming home had no problem, i am unable to trust this vehicle on long trips, so i took it to the dealer again on april. 21, 2015 and they could not duplicate the problem, they told me that the transmission is over heating at some point and going into what they call 'fail safe mode" very dangerous if you are driving at high speeds, but could not help me unless there was a code in the system or they could duplicate the problem, i told them i will be calling "nissan consumer affairs" ref # 18608068 about the transmission cooling problem, received a call from nissan on monday april 27, 2015 told her my problem and she suggested i bring it to a different dealer for a second opinion for which i have done on april 30, 2015 mlg at 45,963 and they could not duplicate the problem as well so i am back to square one and i am waiting to here back from "nissan consumer affairs" this is part 2 of 3... *tr

Traveling from ny to pa 2 hr trip 112miles 287s to i78w all highway speed limit 65mph travel 70mph toward the end of the trip lost all power pedal to floor transmission whining had to pull over from the left lane over to the right lane shoulder with out having an accident, went to check the transmission fluid and noticed white smoke coming form the dip stick fluid seem to be ok, let it cool down for about 15min started the vehicle and it ran like nothing happened got to my destination weird coming had no problem, so i took it to the dealer on sept. 6, 2014 and they found the noise coming from the transmission as well as an abs code in the system c1106 cleared the code road tested the vehicle said vehicle was normal, other problems found were mid exhaust cat replaced and rear differential coupler replaced, this is part 1 of 3. *tr

The date and speed entered are averages, because of multiple events at various times and circumstances. i seldom know how much gas i have because the gauge goes up and down without explanation. since i don't drive a lot i can just keep track of the amount i put in the tank and fill up when i think i should. today as an example, my gauge showed 1/2 tank. i sat in a parking lot with the engine running while waiting for a friend to finish an errand. during that 10 minutes, the gas gauge went up by about 1/8 of a tank. this was sitting on level ground in a plaza parking lot, so no slant to the tank to give a false reading. so far i have had no serious issues, but due to the fact that i am on oxygen, i could be in serious trouble if i had to wait a long time for help. *tr

1st electrical problem started while driving on highway when on vacation august 2014. navigational system and radio would not work. steering wheel if sharp turn made a loud noise. happened for 1 day and then everthing worked again. 9/24/14 my nissan rogue 2013 was now completely dead and had to manually unlock door. called aaa who jump started vehicle and stated replacing battery would not solve problem. the aaa mechanic stated there was an electrical problem....something continued to drain the battery even after the jump start. brought to coastal nissan where i was told the vehicle tested fine and did not have an electrical problem. never was i informed there are complaints from other owners of intermittent electrical problems and the rogue not starting. my vehicle is almost at the end of its warranty. 10/21/14 coming out of the garage late last night when making sharp turns the steering wheel make loud noises. when i arrived home the driver's side window would not go up. this morning the vehicle made a clicking noise but the engine would not start. the drivers' side window will not go up or down although the lights and other windows work. declined aaa jumpstart since this has been intermittent and i needed coastal nissan to not be able to deny any problem. after checking on line it appears many other nissan owners are having similar problems. it is very important to have an agency like your's to ensure others are aware of safety issues and defects in vehicles. i also contacted the consumer affairs at nissan per the emails i saw from other owners. if anyone else has this intermittent electrical problem just have vehicle towed so nissan cannot deny a problem or fail to address and fix it. *tr

I pulled out onto route 125 in plaistow, nh at a set of traffic lights and there were cars coming up quick behind me when all of a sudden i went over the drainage in the road i lost all power and started slowing down i had no control of my gas pedal, my car wouldn't go it was just slowing down fast. it was scary i almost got rear ended. when this happened i noticed my traction control light lit up blinking. i have read many horror stories about similar situations and notified the dealership and they cant replicate it so wont do anything about it. i could have been hit hard bc i was just going along when all of a sudden my car pretty much almost stopped in the middle of the road, no brakes, nothing. the dealer has offered to take my car for a period of time to drive and give me one in the meantime to try and see if they can make it happen again. this is something that is serious, especially when in fast moving traffic and this was to happen to me or anyone with this car again. *tr

Passenger 2 airbag light at times does not register when my 74 lb daughter is sitting in the seat but it will register if my purse is in the seat. at times it will flash on and off then stay off. yesterday 5/6/14 i ran errands then when i went to get my daughter from school. the check engine (malfunction indication light as called in vehicle book) came on. i took the vehicle to auto zone and the test shows its the oxygen sensor. was advised to check upstream & downstream sensors as well as catalytic converter since these can cause damage to it as well. i should mention the employee telling me this built nissan vehicles for 23 yrs. today i have an appt at the nissan dealership. i've only had this vehicle 3 months = not happy. *tr

This is not an incident report, but rather a general inquiry as to whether or not there have been an unusually large number of cracked windshields reported by other nissan owners or repairmen. the new nissan i purchased appears to have a windshield design that lends itself to stress cracks easily! this vehicle is not yet 7 months old and yet the windshield will have to be replaced because it has cracks that radiated outward from tiny pecks that apparently were caused by pebbles flung from the road surface. this is the first time i have owned a vehicle that cannot sustain a "bulls eye" or "star crack" and the crack is contained until i can get it to a windshield place to have the dent filled. could this be because nissan has lowered the stress factor or something on the production of this safety glass? is the windshield under a lot of stress because of the curvature or design on this model? will this lead to catastrophic failure?? *tr

While driving in temperatures under 40 degrees the interior windows fog within minutes of being in the car when the heat is on. turning on defrost and opening the windows does not help. i've had to pull over numerous times to prevent a car accident because the visibility is so bad. the problem seems to be worse at night, but does happen during the day too. when the windows appear to be clear and the car is left outside for at least 30 minutes, whatever moisture is left in the car freezes to the inside of all the windows creating a layer of ice. it has taken well over 30 minutes and even close to an hour to get it to clear enough to be able to safely drive. but once you begin driving again the fog almost immediately returns. there has also been unexplainable moisture in the carpets as well as in the spare tire compartment. during a 3 hour car trip there was a layer of ice on all the windows that never cleared the entire time, despite the car being warm, defrost on, and it being sunny weather. the car has been in six times to two different dealerships and no one can seem to figure out what is wrong. *tr

While traveling with an 85 pound passenger in the passenger seat the passenger side airbag light will illuminate for approximately 10-15 minutes indicating that the passenger side airbag is "off". it will then flicker back on and off again. the passenger is not moving around in the seat, and seatbelt is use properly. i tested my theory that the airbag light was malfunctioning by having a 50 pound child sit in the seat, without movement, while the car was stationary. the light came on, again indicating that the passenger side airbag was "off" and then within 2-3 minutes flickered back into the "on" setting indicating that it would deploy if in a wreck. i contacted the dealership to ask of weight restriction and although they didn't know the information off hand, i am to take it in for service. *tr

Started to get a clicking noise in steering wheel when turning to left or right. started happening around 16,000 miles. took in to a nissan service center to have checked. the response was that nissan corp. would not allow service center to "just replace parts". dealer told me that there was nothing they could do? don't be concerned. i have a very uneasy feel when driving the car. waiting for the clicking to become and issue in controlling the steering of the car. if this car had the clicking noise when i test drove it i would have not purchased it. new car, $30,000 and everytime i turn the steering wheel i can hear a click as well as my passengers. *tr

During cold weather (below 20 deg f.), the car sometimes can not detect if an adult is sitting in the passenger seat and it disengages the air bag. during really cold days (below 0 deg f.) it senses a non-adult sitting in the passenger seat but, the seat is empty. *tr

The 2013 nissan rogue i was driving was struck a glancing blow starting from the center front through the driver's front left quarter panel and door. the frontal impact was strong enough to break the front support extruded steel brace in three places and decimate the grill, light, bumper, quarter panel and door skin. there are two problems i would like to report. one the side impact and seat air bags did not deploy at all; however the driver's air bag did deploy slowly after the impact. it did not completely deploy until after i exited the vehicle. the second issue is that while the seat belt prevented me from going through the windshield, the mechanism in the seatbelt is also destroyed. the vehicle that struck me had their air bags to fully deploy. please look into this as i understand there was a recall on the 2011 - 2012 models. thank you. *tr..updated 11/13/14 *bf updated 7/28/2015 *js

Vibration present at low speed 30 to 40 mph. in cold weather engine is loud like a diesel truck until vehicle warms up (around five minutes of driving). i owned a 2009 model and had same issues which nissan could not fix after many visits. will be last nissan i will ever purchase again! *tr

Appox. 40 miles a hour, i opened rear driver window or rear passenger window the car started to shake. at 50 miles an hour the car shuck violently and my hears experienced pain. i feel this is a unsafe condition and i was never told about or warned not to open the back windows if going 40 or faster in town or on the highway! *tr

A day before the incident, the malfunction light came on in my car on the dashboard. the next day, about one mile from home, i stopped on a hill at a traffic light with several cars ahead of me. when the light turned green, i moved my foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator and the car started rolling backward. it would not go into drive even though the gear was in drive. after trying once more unsuccessfully to get the car to move forward, i put the car in park, put on my flashers and turned the engine off. i restarted the car, and put the gear in drive and it went forward but somewhat haltingly. i slowly proceeded to the nissan dealer about 2 miles away. each time i stopped at a traffic light, the engine sounded funny. today, the nissan dealer informed me that there is an electrical problem in the transmission that they can't repair. nissan usa is replacing the transmission under warranty. i find this outrageous that a newly purchased car of 5 months with less than 5, 000 miles has a defective transmission. *tr

I purchased a new 2013 nissan rogue in april of 2013. we assumed that the rogue would have the same 2.5 liter engine as the 2009 altima we own and like. as soon as we drove rogue on our first trip into the mountains of nc we discovered a problem. when driving up a gentle slope the rpm will go from 2000 to 3000 without any appreciative increase in speed, when more speed is required to keep up with traffic or to pass, and the accelerator is pressed to 5000rpm no increase in speed is available. i feel exactly like something is slipping. it is very dangerous to pass any car because i don't know if i have any power reserve available. at the high rpm the engine is also using a lot of fuel. my wife and i are afraid to drive the car. i have brought this to the attention of the dealership on several occasions, but they are refusing to acknowledge that there is a problem. i have seen some forums on the internet with other people having the same problem. what can i do? thanks for your reply. ps. we have repeated the drive several times with the same results. *js

Driving 70-75 mph on i-80 west less than a year after bought used. began hearing high-pitched whine that stopped when i lifted my foot from the accelerator. continued two miles to plaza with sound getting louder and had to coast into parking area because transmission would no longer engage. no revving, nothing. towed home ($213). fine for months, then happened again on turnpike. pulled over, waited an hour to cool. drove rest of distance going 50 mph or less. finally had to floor gas pedal to get any movement after stoplights. now makes buzzing-screaming noise every time it starts, in neutral or otherwise. nissan dealer says $4,000 for repair. i'm 67, on fixed income and still making payments!

The transmission consistently overheats (service dept told me this is what the issue is) and caused the car to go into "fail safe" mode which means you have no power. i was travelling in an 75 mph zone and the fastest i could get to was 60. tractor trailers were having to slam on their breaks. i put my flashers on to make it safer. this has happened on 6 different trips. per the svc dept this is a known issue with the nissan rogue and the fluid gets too hot. this is a very dangerous issue because you do not know it is in fail safe until you attempt to give the car more power like to pass or something. very very dangerous. i have video of the incedent if needed.

This vehicle model year 2013 is missing the hood insulator that is present in every previous model year. nissan was contacted to provide an explanation as to why this safety feature has been removed from the 2013 year models. the only explanation offered was that it is discontinued but fail to provide the reasons why a safety feature has been removed. *tr

While i took my car into the shop for an airbag issue i am having. the loaner car which is the 2013 nissan rogue has the same problem. while driving with an adult in the passenger seat the passenger airbag switch turns off. i have video evidence of this for this vehicle. 2 videos of 2 separate occasions. and 4 videos of my 2013 altimas doing the same thing. even with me sitting in the seat at 180lbs the light switch would turn off. this is a very big safety issue and nissan needs to have it fixed! *tr
