2013 DODGE AVENGER

My vehicle cuts off while driving. Have replaced battery, alternator, fuel pump, and PCM and still it’s having battery draining issues! No lights ,not even check engine light comes on and no recall is listed. I have a 5yr old, lost my job and had to switch his schools due to no reliable transportation. The tipm relay shows a recall on same model built 2 weeks after my vehicle and it shows similar issues.

Car shuts off when idling, or at slow speeds.

At random times the car engine will suddenly stall. Brakes freeze up and steering wheel locks up. I could be at a light or going 60mph or 10mph and it will stall. I proceed to turn the car off and try to turn it back on but the engine won\'t turn over, until 5 min later. Took it to the dealership to have it fixed. They fixed a recall but that did nothing. took it to another dealership and they couldn\'t recreate the problem so they did nothing. I fear for my life everytime i get into this car and dodge won\'t do anything to help me.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORK WHEN THEY WANT DODGE DEALER SAID ITS THE TIPM. I SEE ON THE INTERNET THAT THEY HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PART UP TO JANUARY 2013 BUT DOESNT COVER MY VIN #. HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER WITH NO HELP FROM THEM. VERY UPSET AT THEM.

BRAKES DIDN’T STOP CAUSING REAR END COLLISION. Air bag deployed and started burning though filling car with smoke. burn holes in the side of air bag from where it was smothering. Car was totaled. Engine and tranny mounts replaces due to engine vibration.

TIPM & HVAC Controller went out for no reason. Dealership shop says they were faulty and not covered by any warranty. After some research I found a class action lawsuit against Dodge for installing faulty TIPM.

My car has been in and out of repair shops since 2 months of buying the car. Mileage are approximations but everything was happening under 20K miles. Although all the work has been under warranty Chrysler is not helping me to finish the repairs because now they are claiming its out of warranty. Now they expect me to start paying for the related repairs that were done incorrectly under warranty by their Dodge shops. These are serious electrical flaw repairs. They need to fix my car under warranty. First they said they extended my warranty then they said that person wasn’t allowed to extend the warranty only a supervisor can do that. A supervisor never got back to me. They keep giving me the run around.
These issues on the car are all the same related issues since I owned the car that are a direct result of a defective vehicle and defective parts on the car stemming all the up to wiring that was not properly tied up at the manufacturer level prior to sale to the customer.

Nothing is new. Everything was told to them and their shops before I made it to the 36K mileage.
Because they never properly fixed it now I am having engine leaks and more coolant leaks.
Dodge has been hiding all these electrical problems AC problems transmission problems that I have come to learn is not limited to my car. I go to the shops for one thing I have been coming out with another problem. These mechanics are not qualified to manage these major repairs that the mfg should of done at the onset. Now my car is over heating yet again from yet another flaw in the engine parts. Wherein Dodge or Chrysler should of done recall stats instead they are covering up defects . Defects that have caught up with them cause now no one will tame the blame or knows how to fix my car. Almost 2 yrs of in and out shop repair where in this car should of been recalled and-then changed.
The first repair was for a speedometer cluster; the second was for wheel bearing and brakes; the next was transmission cluster; and so forth. They didn’t finally fix the full transmission until July August when they changed the whole cluster. They did work on the A/C over 4 times finally they changed another switch called an actuary. They did work on the engine coolant over 3 times and now the car is overheating if driven too long and the coolant is blocked . This car should of been recalled for all its electrical problems that their incompetent workers have damaged twice three times over. The car has never been totally repaired correctly according to the information that has been given to the shops. They sit there and read my manual as though they don’t know their cars. They give me excuses that they don’t know what is happening. Well I have owned enough cars in my life time to know that it had serious issues that again I later learned other cars were having too. Chrysler and Dodge need to stop covering up the defects and start recalling cars accordingly. A 2013 car that was purchased brand new should not have needed all these repairs and more to come.

On apr 11,2021 i was driving around 35-40 mph and my hood came flying up in front of me. i have call chrysler and they sent out inspector ron marnese, who inspected the car and found the secondary latch was not working. chrysler has informed me that they will not fix my car due to it being out of warranty and there is no recall. inspector had told me that he thought that engineering would want the latch and thought this would get repaired by them due to the car being in excellent shape. chrysler did not seem to care the this is a safety issue.

Car shut off while driving no warning when it did

Driving at about 35 to 40 mph and hood when flying up. i hood was not open for about 6 months or more with no problems.

Backing out of parking spot car sputtered and died. restarted but once on road the sputtered and died again. horn kept beeping itself after car died. been reading that this is common occurrence in this model. woth no clear resolution from dealer/manufacturer

When i start my car which is stationary the airbag light comes on & dings (like the seatbelt warning) it dings like 2 times. then as i drive on city streets & highways, while the vehicle is in motion the light will come on & go off randomly. this doesn't happen every time the vehicle is stationary or in motion, however it does happen way more often than not. and i'm afraid for my safety & the safety of my passengers. what if the airbags do not deploy to help save anyone? i have read other customers complaining of this exact same thing happening with their vehilces, yet there is no recall? such as nhtsa id # 11395069 incident date 01-31-2021 please look into this, and please advise of solution - resolution

I was driving approximately 40 and then the car had no power. when i gave it gas it would not go. it dropped to about 10 mph. the red flashing etc and engine light came on. very scary. i could not move out of anyone way if i had to.

Passenger side heat is inop resulting in windshield fogging over while driving and causing an issue seeing the road as the environmental system is unable to maintain proper climate control. this happens every winter, and whenever it rains. this is a persistent problem in highway, and city traffic resulting in near accidents. i’ve had this cars system flushed and that is only a temporary fix as this is a known issue as stated from mechanics.

The airbag light don’t go off at all upon driving when accelerating the engine jerks very badly like there is some power lost going in with the engine i have to press hard for acceleration then it drives smooth then the car shuts off on my an my husband from traveling an when raining the wipers get stuck an moves like a robot so we have to pull over because we can’t see due to electric problems with the wiper an this isn’t safe at all for nobody car stalling out plus wipers get stuck an the move like a robot not safe

Airbag sensor light comes on, turns off at random, turns back on again. repeats cycle while driving for entire drive.

Passenger side blows cold air and will not defrost the front window when driving. we live in mt and this causes visibility issues and seems to be a common problem with this. also, the vehicle keeps quitting at various times. it has been seen multiple times and over $5k dropped into it with the same issues

When i'm driving and come to a stop then start driving the car stalls and jerks also sends out a high squeal even after having all maintenance done on it

The airbag light keeps going on and off making a dinging noise. there is recalls for vehicles that are the same as mine yet for some reason mine is not recalled. this happens every time that i start the car and continues while i am driving.

When i make a sharp turn right it is as if there is no power steering. it has happened once before but the opposite and eventually started to work,. this is scary.

I was driving down the road and a car was in my lane to make a turn. i had to slam on the brakes to keep from having a head on collision. we didn't hit but it made the head rest pop out. is there any defects on this subject...

Takata recall. my teenage children are driving daily in a car that is not safe how is this acceptable?

I recieved a recall notice from fca telling me that my air bags and seat belts might not work in a crash and there is a recall but they don't have remedy available and they will contact me when they figure out how to fix it. i have small childeren and if i get into a car crash i hope that my seat belts and air bags would work and for dodge to tell me not to worry even thou they might not work is unacceptable.

I've never received a recall notice to take my vehicle to have it fix from the recall issues stated on the announcement.

While on the highway doing 75 mph, my 2013 avenger immediately dropped to 40 mph. it felt like a car had re ended me, after dropping to 40, my car lost all power. my rpms went to 0, and i had no control while steering. it left me stranded for 45 minutes and suddenly turned back on. this has happened 3 times already. also, before i had the dealership disconnect my horn, it would randomly blare. sitting in traffic and it would go off. sometimes it would beep once, other times it would last anywhere from 2-10 minutes. turning the car off wouldn't solve the problem, it would actually continue. the mechanics told me it was my tipm (total integrated power module) that caused this to happen, only seen in chrysler models. this problem has been ongoing starting with my horn since sep. 23rd, 2016.

On september 26 2016, the driver's side headrest exploded and came lose (for no apparent reason). experiencing headache due to the bump on my head. despite the vehicle being only three years old, and with just 56000 miles, the radiator and air conditioning systems have been replaced! 2013 dodge avenger is not a safe car to drive and needs to be thoroughly investigated for quality and safety. the headrest explosion happened while the engine was off and was about to exit the vehicle inside my garage.

Vehicle brakes and steering froze up while attempting to go around another driver. this resulted in a total loss. this was on a dry city street. the driver in front of the vehicle was turning into a business, attempted to go around when the brakes and steering just stopped working. this vehicle was just service a few weeks prior to the incident.

My fiancÉe's grandson bumped the back of the driver's seat and the head rest blew open. luckily i, was seated in the driver's seat but was leaning forward at the time. we were sitting still and getting the grandchildren in position and seatbelted in.

I received an email months ago that there was a recall on my airbags and an issue with the seatbelts that could cause injury during a crash. a just recently received an email from carmax warning me of the same. i never received a remedy-is-available email so i looked it up on this site and was informed there is no remedy available because the recall is incomplete. it has been close to a year, and i would like this remedied so i and my passengers are as safe as possible in my car. thank you!

It's been 10 months & still no remedy on an air bag fix that to me is a life & death situation!

Drive side active head restraint (ahr) triggered on own without accident. i contacted dodge when it happened and they said there was not any issues. received phone call from different napleton recently and asked service advisor about it and he said he has seen a few. contacted dodge again at (800) 423-6343 (special investigations) and they said vehicle is beyond 3 years/36k warranty. i originally contacted them in july 2015 and they said they never seen it and not covered under warranty. after talking to other service advisor and finding out that there is other vehicles out there dodge should look further into this issue. someone could get seriously hurt or die do to this problem. researching the web there has been cases of ahr deploying while going down the highway, thankfully my wife was in park when it deployed. i appreciate your assistance with this. Ntsha recall # 16v-668 was issued for my car last september. mopar told me they would have parts available for repairs this spring. it is now summer, and they still do not have replacement parts available. how long are they allowed to go with replacing the defective part?

While driving down the road my husband went to accelerate to pass a another vehicle and the etc light started flashing and the engine lost power, went from 40mph to 30mph!!! we couldn't pass and luckily there wasn't an accident! another time at a stop sign, he accelerated and the light came on and we could only go 20 mph, thank god no cars were coming!! we've be told it's the electronic throttle body. i've researched this problem and it seems like alot of people are having the same issues as we are! this is definitely a safety issue, it could cause a serious accident! hopefully this will be investigated soon!!! i've also notified dodge, they basically told me i'm on my own!!

As i was driving my 2013 dodge avenger on the turnpike at speed of 75mph my red warning light that looks like a lightning bolt came on along with the check engine and traction warning lights. my vehicle tended to hesitate ,jerk and reduce speed dramatically. the vehicle wouldnt excellorateno more than 10mph. i attempted to steer off to a brakedown lane but while doing so i nearly got sideswiped and rear ended multiple times. i have looked on line and seen several complaints revolving around this issue. i am not the only driver that had near misses with an accident. this is a huge safety issue! please look into this matter please, for the saftey of all drivers. thank you.

Car overheats when stopped in heavy traffic on highway (bumper to bumper, rush hr. )and on local streets at traffic lights. cooling fans not coming on. had it towed to a garage and they told me that it was a problem with cooling system that was under recall. i contacted dealership who asked for my vin # and said there was no recalls on my vehicle pertaining to the cooling system.

From date of purchase brand new off the lot 2013 dodge avenger 3.6l blacktop edition. within a few days i started noticing the car would pull to the right. i took it back to the dealership to have the alignment looked at and fixed and they said they re aligned everything and should be fine. after a week i noticed it started to pull to the right again. at that point i took it into a different shop where they actually told me that they can't re align the car based on the fact that how the cars suspension was manufactured and design is faulty to where the alignment will never be able to be corrected and there's nothing they can do. i am military and have moved 2 times since the purchase and have takin the car to several shops and have been told the same. that the alignment is as best as it can get and will always pull to the right based on the design and how it came from the factory. i've had the car for 3 yrs now and have had to buy brand new tires every year while rotating and balancing my tires every 3 months. this is a serious defect and dodge will not take ownership of the fault and has not provided any help in coming up with a solution to fix the suspensions alignment always being off.

I was on the expressway, going about 65 mph when the red lightning bolt on my dash came on. i immediately lost power and could no longer accelerate. once i showed to a stop i cut the engine off, which stalled and shook while it turned off. after a few moments i turned the engine back on, and after a quarter mile the red light came on and i had to restart the process. had a mechanic read it with a computer but no error came up, as the light wasn't on at the moment. on the way home it cut off again.

Warn air coming out of drivers side vents, cold air coming from passenger side vent causing safety issue during operation. local dealer fixed issue once and issue has returned. when heat is activated, warm air from drivers side vents, cold air from passenger side vents causing frost and fog on passenger side of car, reducing visibility during operation.

I was driving down the interstate when my cel light came on. i barely made it to the side of the road o investigate it. my car would not run, and i had to get towed home...... turns out the my upper radiator hose was broken where the fitting goes into the hose. after trying to find the fitting i was told i had to buy the entire assembly. confused as to why i had to buy the entire assembly i looked at the new part and it had been redesigned where the fitting is now held on by a more permanent heat-shrink looking tube instead of hose clamps. well, seeing that the upper radiator hose is a very important part of the radiator i was also a little confused as too why you would want consumers to have to spend 100.00 for just the part , if they are lucky enough to be parked and find it, but if they are unlucky like myself then they also receive a tow bill on top of that. seems to me that it is an ongoing problem because it has already been rediesigned. i believe that this should be under recall because if/when the fitting decides to break not only did my car cut off but there is a big likleyhood that it could lock up or even damage your water pump , engine, etc.

Vent doors keep failing, driver side vent gets hot while one of the vents in the middle is warm and the other is cool. passanger side is cold as can be. this is while using the heater. i have seen many people online talk about this problem. i have also seen reports on nhtsa about the same issues. i also have replaced them multiple times.

While i was driving to the store on 10/07/2020 around the corner of my house the headrest deployed while i was driving. no accident, no sudden stops the headrest just deployed. i did check to see if there were any recalls on it but not recalls. i did find several people had the same problems and had taken there car to the dealership to see about repairs. everyone was told that there was no recalls and they could fix it or replace the headrest, but it would be an out of pocket expense to the customer. i feel there should have been an investigation due to the fact that here have been multiple case regarding the same situation. i would like to have an investigation started so that it can be determined that this is a manufactures defect and issue a recall so that we can get this fixed without cost. this is a danger to someone driving and the fact that it has already deployed if any of the people complaining are in an accident they have no means of protection since the headrest has already deployed.

My son bought a 2013 dodge avenger and while he was driving the passenger headrest exploded! this is dangerous! i as a parent am afraid it will happen on the driver side while my son is driving and cause an accident! i took it to dodge and they are trying to say it’s not a recall yet and it would be 800+ to fix! this is unacceptable and i feel is a dangerous malfunctioning part that needs fixed on dodge or chrysler’s end!!!!

The passenger head rest deployed or opened hitting the back of my passenger as i was driving. my passenger was in pain for a few days. the seat head rest now sits out of place and it is very uncomfortable as you are sitting forward. i tried to check on the amount to fix and it is over $1000 to fix.

The day i bought this vehicle, it was blowing warm air on drifts side, cold air on passenger side. took it back to dealer the next day. they supposedly fixed it. this was december 6th 2017. when april came around and tried to run the ac instead of heat, the actuators keep clicking. does this whether or not the car is running. changed all 3. very short term fix. this has been a constant issue and apparently is a well known issue with most dodge vehicles! they should be ashamed of themselves. here we are october 2020. still an issue. now the inside door is completely stuck. will not switch door off of the defroster. cannot afford to continually take this back to the dealer every time this happens when it's due to faulty\cheap parts.

The heater on the passenger side of the vehicle does not work no matter how long i have my car turned on, so when it gets cold and my window is foggy or ices over i can not use the defrost. this problem happens while it is parked in driveway and continues while i am driving. when i'm driving and my window gets foggy from me being in it i have no way of fixing causing me to see through a fog. i have had the heater core replaced, and it has been flushed out. this only fixes the problem for a few months, but by the time it gets cold again it happens all over.

Replaced heater core and air door actuator 12/13 months ago because passenger side blew ice cold air driver side hot air. also defogger/defrost did not work. no visibility throughout windshield on passenger side due to ice build up. same problem after just 12-13 months. now it includes a thumpng noise under the dashboard when ac is turned on.

Cannot get the car to shift into gear. when in reverse it wanted to got forward and when it drive still going forward. i had to cut the car off, to avoid crashing. now it will not start nor will my trunk open.

Hello i guess my car has a recall i didnt no i went to the dealership got some parts my in there system i work out of town i travel alot drove the out of state i got in a accident police came wrote a report said it was my fault in the impact the airbags never open and the seat bet became loss it takes longer to return in its rolled up position i thought maybe the airbags didnt open cause the impact wasnt hard enough will i just left it like that i ended up fixing the car on my own didnt wont more problems with the insurance didnt make it a bigger deal around christmas time all this coronavirus happens this was in texas my job ended i came back home to nevada time passed went to the dealer to get more parts nothing a few days later yesterday i get a text from the dealer my car has a recall they won't to fix it and chrysler is going to pay for my rental cause they need the car a few days i could have been hurt real bad i fix the car on my own cause i didnt need more problems my back still hurts from time to time i just thought i share this experience thank u

I was reversing out of a parking space at the grocery store, once reversed and put car in drive the car continuied to go reverse so i put in park and then engine shut off and car was still in reverse on dash board , i was stuckm in the middle of parking lot car would not turn oin or go in neutral.

When the electronic stability control malfunction indicator light comes on, my car starts shaking violently, not responding as quickly to pressing gas pedal, jerking, slow acceleration, bogging down when i reach 50 and the feeling of my brakes applying themselves my room gauge sometimes rocks back and forth before and after the gear shift...a weird smell and heat coming from under the car even tho it's not reading a higher temp... i've changed the cps twice and the code will not clear... p0340...this happens all the time but it's random and happens even while i'm driving...or when the car is running for a few minutes in park...random...while the episode is happening sometimes i hear this fast paced tapping and "movement" behind my dash & steering wheel...i've tried everything i can to solve this problem and now i find out my car has recalls...my car dealership never informed me it was on a recall list...please help before something bad happens as i'm driving...i feel like this issue could potentially cause my car to shut down or something could blow up...i just don't know what else to do and i don't want to accidentally hurt someone or myself if i potentially lose control of the vehicle or the brakes completely stop me without me applying them & i wreck or stall going down the highway or interstate... very concerned and worried about what to do next...when this isn't happening to the car it behaves & drives perfect...it seems possessed or is having a seizure *tr

The temperature actuator behind the glove box has been replaced 3 times because of clicking and not controlling air temperature. we just replaced it again and i have hot air on the drivers side and middle vent and cold air on the other middle vent and passengers side (very uncomfortable for the driver). safety concern when defrost is needed. passenger side defrosts but drivers side gets worse and causes a hazard for driving. i am a college student who commutes to school every morning and this has created close calls for accidents because i am having to lean over to the passenger side to see. we have tried to find more information online and many other cars of this model are having this same issue. we do not know what to to fix this problem it seems to be a manufacturing flaw. my car has a little over 64,000 miles and this is an ongoing issue. *tr

I was driving on the highway at about 55 mph then suddenly my car stalled. my car shut completely off. i saw that there was a recall for this but it was for the smaller engine which does not include my engine. i just took my car to the dealer and he said their was an oil pressure problem which caused the oil housing to leak.

I purchase the car, and the dealership california direct motors failed to inform me of the safety recall, and its still an un going problem, i have not received my plates / registration. so legally i'm not the owner until this get cleared. i'm afraid to drive the car. please help me

While driving headrest deployed found other incidents on youtube like this. there is a lawsuit against dodge/chrysler about this issue. there needs too be a recall on this issue immediately!! i would rather have a regular headrest that doesn’t deploy.please issue a recall!

Oil is pooling under the oil filter/oil cooler assembly. i understand from other owners online (youtube, avenger forum) that this is a common problem. for oil to leak from the cooler whose seals may be bad. additionally, i have what sounds like a rocker arm (at least one) that is worn, probably from the lack of sufficient oil due to this leak. i discovered the pooling with the car parked, engine idling, and trying to find the clacking/tacking/tipping noise which feels (vibrations) like it might be in the left bank of the v6 engine. both problems reported as typical online as noted for the pentastar 3.6l v6 which i have. tapping has been going on since march 2020 at least. i did a second oil change (previous in february) to determine if that would help. no.

A couple years after i got my car it would shut down when i would come to stop signs and no mechanics could tell me why. no lights ever came on. it had shut down on the freeway before and let the power slowly die down until the car turned off. that time the car actually had a light when i tried turning it back on. i essentially have had to replace my transmission and engine within a year. the car would overheat at times but no lights would go off so i just could let the car cool down and let the overheating stop. fast forward to replacing the engine and transmission and my car is now idling high even without the gas being touched. on the freeway it will go to as high as 4000rpms now and it feels like the car is going to stop working again. also the door blend actuators and other actuators have been making noise for about 4 years. my air line has no leaks and is cold but the air that comes out of my vents is almost warm feeling.

In january 2020 my 2013 dodge avenger began to have issues that resulted in it stranding me at various times, i had the car towed and assesses it was determined that the battery was bad was the battery was replaced ( last replaced 2 years prior) the car was returned to me and almost 1 week later i was again stranded with a car that would not start and so i had it towed and assessed and this time it was the alternator , i had it repaired and returned to me the vehicle seemed fine for 2 weeks when suddenly the windshield wipers stopped working or would work intermittenly, the ac or heater would work intermittenly, the car horn and alarm stopped working and would go off randomly while driving, the vehicle would stall if the heater was on while driving and the alarm would go off if it stalled, finally i called dodge and they told me to bring it in, they would find out what was wrong with it i told them from what i had read it seemd the issue was the tipm, 3 days later i get a call that it is the tipm and that they will also need to remove the alarm and that the repair would cost over 1900.00 and when the car is back it will no longer have an alarm though i bought the vehicle with an alarm on the show floor it would be additional cost to have a new alarm installed. i have read that this issue is a known issue and that it is very dangerous and dodge continues to ignore how dangerous this is. the times the vehicle stalled i was driving, and could have been in an accident had i not reacted quickly and recognized what was happening.

On 3/9/2020 at approximately 4:30 pm while driving south on interstate 55 just south of southaven mississippi when the passenger side headrest deployed springing the head rest forward with considerable force. my wife was sitting in the passenger seat at the time and was struck by the headrest in the head and complained that it hit her head so hard that it hurt. we were not involved in an accident at the time and were traveling at the posted speed limit. i had not had to break hard or anything. the headrest just came apart. after some research i see this is suppose to be a safety feature that would occur in an accident. there was no accident. after arriving home i noticed a metal pin in the bottom of the seat rest and broke plastic in the location where the pin should be located. now i am concerned that the drivers seat may do the same thing and cause an accident.i also now have the issue of a costly repair for a defective design flaw.

Seatbelt on drivers side locks all the way in and does not release. this has happened while car is stationary and in motion (no breaking involved, driving 25 mph). have got the seatbelt to release a few times and immediately locks again. is currently locked all the way in preventing the seatbelt from being worn.

The horn on my vehicle continues to beeps while driving, the radio no longer turns on and the car shuts off while driving without any warning almost causing accidents. i was told the power module needs to be replaced and there are many complaints online from other customers regarding the same issue with this make/model vehicle.

While driving my car approximately around 15mph on a smooth road i heard a disruptive noise and saw that my passenger had been hit by the active head rest which was deployed although we were not in an accident. upon further investigation i noticed the cheap plastic that holds the pin in place inside the head rest had been broken which caused the active headrest to unexpectedly deploy.

My car doesn’t start after every 8 hours. i had a “draws” test administrated on my vehicle but no one can tell me why this is happening. i drive around with a jumper box to start my car when needed. for the last 3 years i have replace my alternator twice and 4 batteries. please help

For reference, this is the complaint i filed: "window defrost and passenger heat /air. while either in motion or while driving, no heated air exits the passenger side of the windshield defroster, nor the passenger window defrost, lower and center console vents. heated air only exits the driver's side windshield and driver's side dash vents. problem persists through all cabin air modes, and circulations. this safety issue effects visibility and passenger safety by failing to defrost/defog windows and keeping cabin tempuratures near or below freezing during cold weather (blowing cold air into the cabin)."

Heat is only blowing on drivers side, blows cold on passenger side.

The issue occurs mostly while the vehicle is in motion, but occasionally when it is sitting still and idling. while driving, the car engine will suddenly stall. no warning lights or check engine lights turn on. no codes are found when scanning the obd2. there are no recorded miss fires for any of the cylinders either. this is an especially dangerous situation specifically when driving full speed on major highways or roads. when the engine stalls, power steering cuts out and i have to muscle the car off to the side of the road to put the car in park and start it up again. the engine has stalled while going in reverse, driving forward, and sitting idle. this has happened over a dozen times now.

Twice now i've had to have my heater core replaced as the passenger blows cold air when it should be heat just like the drivers side. this is a known issue by dodge abd they won't fix the problem or even assist with it.

For the past couple of months my horn goes off on its own. sometimes it goes off when i lock my car, other times it does not. it will sometimes click, and other times it will blare for 5 seconds. it is very startling especially while driving in traffic or sitting at a stoplight. once i was driving in the rain, and it went off for about 8 seconds and at the same time my windshield wipers started to stall and not work properly. the horn does not work when i push on it like it should. it is very concerning since it can cause safety issues.

Stability control light coming on while driving and when parked. check engine light. needed to replace the brake switch. airbag light on. diagnostic shows there is a short in airbag wiring and the airbag will not deploy if needed. this light comes on after starting car and stays on constantly.

2013 dodge avenger heater/defrost not properly working. it has begun to go out one vent at a time leaving only one vent blowing warm air all others blow cold. this is very hazardous when it does not defrost properly and when needing defrost while driving it only makes the windshield visible through the driver side with the heat. we have attempted to fix this issue by changing blend door actuators and flushing the heater core which came out clear.

2013 dodge avenger has randomly started honking the horn while stopped and in motion. the honking lasts anywhere from a quick honk to sounding like i am laying on the horn for minutes going down the freeway. i have tried pulling over and restarting the vehicle which did not help or stop the horn. this is very dangerous.

While driving approximately 30-35 mph on a city street the front passenger head rest airbag had went off with passenger in the seat. there was no accident involved to cause the airbag to deploy.

The passenger side heat blows cold air,therefore when trying to defrost my windshield my windshield frosted back up after being scraped of ice and began to spread to the drivers side which made it very difficult to see where i was going and could have caused an accident.

Went to the dealership on 12/19/2019 for two recalls on my car. the repair was stated that it would take 2-3 hours but took 5 hours. the next day the car started backing up out of the drive way on its on and now it does not start. called the dealership to tell them the problem and they stated that i have to find a way to bring the car there and pay for the repair myself. my car was fine before they worked on it.

The driver side blows hot air when heater is on, but passenger remains cold. cannot get passenger side to defrost / defog because of this problem and has been happening since the day it was bought. even when i was in warranty (bumper to bumper) i still would have to pay to fix it. this happens whether stationary / idle or driving.

I bought the v6 dodge avenger because sticker on car showed cost of ownership costs, this was highly inaccurate. i flushed the transmission then 3 months later im left on the shoulder if the road. i know it was the transmission pump on my 62te. the dealership told me my warranty just expired and i needed a whole new transmission. the car has 75000 miles how could this be. they were not able to budge on price and replaced transmission. i had the car for 12 hours then it blew again, i think somebody has to watch out i just saw the racall affected for 2016 and up trans but the old ones r the same cheap transmissions to save em a buck and make sure warranties always expore before the sht breaks

I bought this car brand new in june 2013 and about 3 years after purchasing the heat has gone out but the air works fine in summer, so i've been without heat because i can't afford the repair cost and i will definitely never buy another dodge on account that after reading that so many other owners have had the very same problem but yet dodge does not see the need to do a recall on this problem....so the customer service ends after you say i do!

While driving at hwy. speed vehicle surged but no warning lights, etc. next time started, warning lights came on indicating a p2173 code.car was just at dodge dealer for recalls. car will idle fine for a couple of minutes then start surging, idling rough with no power and set warning lights, mil, etc, esc. these will go off when vehicle is turned off except for check engine light. we have replaced throttle body with no change. cleared code and came back and did the same. very disappointed that dodge has not addressed this issue. it is not safe.

The heat only works on the drivers side the vents on the passenger side still blow air but it is ice cold whether the car is parked or in motion the passenger side does not blow out warm air this is an issues that needs to be recalled.

My car began clicking, approximately 30 seconds at a time, late winter early spring 2018-2019 when the heat was turned on. i came to realize the car did not need to be running for this to happen. during an oil change the following week i was told the clicking had to do with the vents and how common this clicking was and that repair eas not guaranteed. as i am the primary person/occupant in my car, i found out later the heat only produced warm air. this is my 1st time owning a dodge and everyday my experiences with this car reaffirms i will never own another. i make it a point to tell any and everyone this fact. i have copied some of the complaints logged about this and my other issue, car stalling while turning left to enter the freeway with throttle indicator. i was on the side of the road alone and female until tow arrived at 9pm and the cost for an alternator which after reading this may not be the issue.... had i known how unresponsive dodge is to their customers by putting their profit over our cost of repairs... again, i tell everyone what they are likely to experience if they purchase the avenger. the complainants listed here and on other sites very likely agree. attached pics were time stamped 6.39pm. i sat on the on ramp to the freeway approximately 3 hours.

When heat is on, the passenger side blows cold (i live in wi so, when i say cold, i mean cold) air from every blowing port on the passenger side... occurs at all times, whether stationary or in motion. have tried a few things reccomended on multiple other pages by people who are experiencing the same exact issue. no help. the driver side vents do blow warm air but, not close to as hot as it should be. this has been occurring since right around 118,000 miles. i start my car 20 minutes before i leave my house at 5am to bring my young children to daycare and be to work by 6. when getting in after being started for 20 min... barely any difference in temp which, is frustrating when you drive with your babies 35 minutes in the cold cold cold along with several deer and a windshield that won't defrost completely. have purchased the extended warranty from dealer and, somehow (what a shock) there is no help for me as 'the issues being described sound like it was brought on by you, the vehicle owner or, enviorment factors'... it hurts knowing you are a loyal and honest human who works hard every day to barely make ends meet and then... to have your character slandered by the (several thousand dollars extra) lifetime warranty that the salesman so confidently swore by on the day of purchase. owner misuse? there are hundreds and hundreds of people having the exact same issues who own the exact same car... sorry but, safe to say that isn't coincidental. i have children and groceries and gas to get to work and school and life... it may sound ridiculous to some but, the $900-$1600 they are saying it would cost... doesn't come easily for just everyone. i'm just hoping that some people will choose to do the right thing and, stand behind the very words that lead them to where they are currently in life. faith in these humans will hopefully bring appropriate solutions.

I was driving my 2013 dodge avenger and the horn goes off by itself from 3 seconds to 3 minutes constantly. when i drive the car it cuts off. my car has only 85000 miles and i have read similar complaints regarding this vehicle around that mileage.

For the past year, my car randomly stalls while driving. there is no rhyme or reason for when it stalls, so i never know when it is going to happen. no lights ever appear on the dash. after sitting for a few minutes, my car usually starts back up again. in addition to the engine stalling, the windshield wipers stutter and the car horn randomly sounds from anywhere between a second to a full minute. i'm not sure if the two issues are related at all, but i've taken it to the mechanic several times and gotten various parts replaced to no avail. the problem persists, and no one can figure out what the issue is. after online research, i have found that there are two recalls for 2013 dodge avengers for an issue with the engine stalling, but for some reason my 2013 dodge avenger is not included--even though it has the same issue as described in the recall. i should not have to say how dangerous it is for one's engine to stall out on a highway. my husband almost got hit by an 18-wheeler as the engine stalled while he was driving in front of it. the steering-wheel locked, but luckily he was able to somehow steer off the road onto the shoulder. it is not safe to drive my car in this condition.

The headrests in my dodge avenger have popped forward several times. sometimes they would pop forward merely from the heat, as i live in a very hot area. i had the orc replaced as part of safety recall s61, however the vehicles safety is reduced because the headrests will not stay locked in due to broken plastic locks which are supposed to hold it back. apparently the headrests are not covered under the recall as it currently stands. the car is uncomfortable to drive, and in the case of an accident, the headrests will not be able to deploy since they are now permanently deployed. i thought the headrests were already covered by the previous recall, which is why i am filing now.

No heat in car at all. replaced actuators, heat/ac control module, flushed heater core and even took to mechanic and no fix. this is all over the internet of people who have the same issue. dodge needs to get their crap together and address this. i will never own another pos dodge again.

The horn and or alarm horn continue to blow while in operation or driving due to the electrical wiring in the fuse box compartment malfunction

Just leaving a parking lot going maybe 15 mph at the most and the driver head rest popped out and a spring went flying. the vehicle was not hit or did not make any impact with anything, not even a speed bump. the head rests are extremely uncomfortable now and it was terrifying getting hit in the back of the head with my 1 year old daughter in the back seat. local dealership advised this is not under a recall so it would be something we would have to pay out of pocket for. estimate was close to $3,000. that is absurd when it is a defect and not something that i caused.

I have a 2013 dodge avenger. the issue is that the heat does not operate as expected. thru hours of research the problem seems to be a faulty heater core. the issue is very common across many dodge and chrysler vehicles. the heater cores are defective and even after flushing, replacement and repairs the heater core will not produce heat as necessary. for most people this problem is an inconvenience but more importantly this issue can be hazardous to driving. truly having optimal heat during winter months is crucial to keeping the windshield clean. having the necessary heat is the only way in cold weather to keep the windshield from fogging and from being iced over in winter storms. i have experience this and had to pull over and clean my windshield otherwise the driving was dangerous. this problem occurs while driving and even when the vehicle is stationary because no heat comes out on the passenger side interior. this lack of heat caused ice and fog to be an issue on my car in numerous situations over the course of the 2018-2019 winter in minnesota. i drove on hwy 169 for just 5-20 miles and was forced to pull over due to lack of heat and build up of fog and ice. i am very sure from reading other peoples experiences that other people have the same feelings. as mentioned, this problem is chronic and a simple part replacement wont solve the recurring problem. if there is any way a replacement heater core plus a new type of coolant can be brought forward as a recall fix, that is the only way that the consistent and chronic failure of the heater core can be fixed and lots of people need this. please help, thank you.

The trans mission fluid is leaking. the windshield wiper hook up under the hood is broken. the gas cap is broken. i just put on a new alternator on 9/28/2019 and also the engine light stays on.

On the evening of 10/05/2019, while traveling straight at a steady 25-30 mph, the passenger headrest felt like it exploded. the passenger's head was suddenly and violently pushed forward. it appears from internet research that this is a failure of the "active head restraint" system.

Head rest on passenger side deployed for no reason on july 15th. my wife was driving and grand daughter was in passenger seat. grand daughter reached around between the seats to get something and the head rest went off, my wife was driving straight on city street. unsafe if that deployed to the passenger or driver while driving or sitting still. could give you a concussion or lose control of the vehicle.

My brake pedal is going on down and making a noise after i push the brake pedal to stop. there are nor ever has a warning light came on. a suggestion was my madter cylinder may be bad. i am going to have it replaced by my son. i can’t afford to take it to a dealer. this had been going on for about 3 months but had gotten worse. just wanted to report it in case there are others that may lead to recalls. only 40,000 miles on car now, about 38,000 when problem started.

Faulty tipm. i was in motion driving on the city street. i had my cellphone charging in the cigarette lighter port and my windshield wipers on at the same time. my windshield wipers started freezing up in the middle of my window until i unplugged my phone. i had to pull over and wait for the rain to stop. it even does it when i turn on the air condition. sometimes when i push the lock button on my driver side door, all 4 doors will lock. btw, i know it's not the battery because, i just had a brand new one installed 1 month ago.

My issue is with my throttle body. this will be the 4th time it’s being fixed between me and the previous owner 2 just for me. there has been two cases where i was driving in town and all the sudden i lose all acceleration. my gas pedal goes right to the floor and it does nothing. then once i stopped it idles really rough. i’ve gone through two throttle body’s in a 9 month period and i feel if this happens again i may not be so lucky to survive. the most recent time was 7/2/2019 i was driving and was stopped at a stop light and my car starts the rough idling and when i hit the gas it went right to the floor which then hindered traffic and almost got hit. the forst time it happens to me like i said i was driving down a city street starting a decent downhill and when i got to the bottom of hill my pedal went right to the floor again. that’s scary situation especially let’s say crossing a street the has cross traffic that doesn’t have to stop and all the sudden your in the middle of the road and can’t move. i’m always in fear it will happen again.

2013 dodge avenger 3.6l will need to placed on safety recall p60 / nhtsa 14v-634 the alternator is allowing current back to the battery. the battery is cooking and the alternator is smoking. this happened while driving and destroyed the battery. after the vehicle was stopped i put in a new battery and the alternator started smoking and the new battery became very hot while the vehicle was off, we did not even have the key in the ignition. this could have caused the battery to explode and could have been a fire if i did not remove the battery and the new battery.

I have today owned this used 2013 dodge avenger and there are 3 problems that make me cringe. first somehow the back bushings are done on the control arm, it makes a very loud noise over bumps. second the ac is leaking and now have to take it to dodge because they make it so i cant do it myself and want me to pay 1000 because its a name your price kinda thing, jerks. lastly after only 6 years i have rust everywhere. i wash my car every 2 weeks but dodge has been known to use the cheapest metal to build their cars. never gonna buy a dodge again, they make america look bad with the garbage it puts out, how can anybody take pride in the car they own if its crap.

The front passenger seat headrest deployed without notice or accident striking my wife in the head. there was no collision or impact in any way. i had just pulled out into the road and while accelerating i heard a noise sounding like a spring under pressure uncoiling. we were going approximately 20 mph. my wife screamed as the headrest struck the back of her head. it hit with enough force to give her a headache for a couple hours.

When i was driving to work, 2 nights in a row, the car just stops. i am pressing on the gas but it stops as if i’m not accelerating. i was driving at approx 45 mph when it happened. this is not the first time this has happened. it happened a handful of times. i have taken it to the dealer and was told that they couldn’t tell me what was wrong because it wasn’t doing it right at that time. i have a friend that had the same kind of car and actually got a rid of it through the lemon law because it did the same thing. this is a safety issue because the car just stops and the way i go to work there is rarely somewhere to pull over leaving me sitting in moving traffic but i’m not moving. there is no correlation regarding the speed or the type of road i am traveling. it just happened to be this time that it was approx the same speed and same road. we keep all of our maintenance up on our vehicles. i hope someone can help us as for i am not in the position to purchase a new vehicle right now not to mention the most important safety issue is that i drive my 21 month old daughter around in this car at times. ** please note that the information given below is the approx current mileage and the date that this most recently occurred. as i mentioned before it has happened before, when it was much newer, less miles, different speed, etc.

I have a 2013 dodge avenger, given to me as a gift may 2013. the car was only about 4 years old(10/13/2017) and i started hearing a strange clicking sound, coming from under the glove compartment. sometimes the heat/ ac wouldn't kick on for a few minutes. it ended up being the mode door actuator,it cost me over $ 400 ,i also needed front pads and rotors. the vehicle only had 18,000 miles on it. i also had to have the hood of the car replaced (sept. 5,2017) because the paint started peeling, this at least was covered by dodge , because they said mine was not the only vehicle to have this same issue, not because of the warranty. now i just had all 4 tires, and brakes done , between 7/2018 and 11/2018. the car only had about 22,000 miles. here we are in december of 2018, i just had to replace the throttle control ,$360.00, and now i have an appointment on friday, december, 28 ,2018, to get the axle seal, right side, and the transaxle oil cooler pipes, inlet and return replaced , cost $164.20, and $364.29 respectively. the car only has 24,241 miles on it, i have all the oil change and inspection records, all is up to date and were always done routinely. i take very good care of this vehicle and am frustrated with these issues. i have also read up on other complaints from avenger owners. dodge needs to respond to these problems. i am very very disappointed with this gift and the fact that i all seem to be doing is spending a lot of money dealing with one thing after the next.

Takata recall air bag light won't go off i'm afraid the airbag won't deploy

Passenger side defrost/vent defects. the defrost and heat/air on the passenger side are not working due to a manufacturers defect. i cannot see when the heat outside the car is too high or low and the window doesn't properly defrost due to cold air only coming out of the passenger side. only cold air blows from the vents on the passenger side in both heat/air and regardless of settings. this occurs stationary and in motion, on the highway and while turning.

2013 dodge avenger heater issue. does not heat on right side. the center dash vent on the right blows warm but noticeably colder the. the left one right next to it that vent in the dash next to the door and the floor vent for the rear are not e en warm al all. causes right side of windshield, right side windows and rear window to fog up while driving in cold weather. i have had the radiator and heater core flushed several times and even replaced, only a temp solution, about 1 week. i have replaces the heater control panel and door actuators, no help. in doing some research, internet and talking to repair shops and dealer service employees. this is a chronic design problem that there is no solid solution for.

Front passenger headrest exploded while driving, just lucky no one was sitting in the seat. my car has been at the dealership for over 3 weeks stating that the headrest is on back order and since it's not under warranty then i have to pay for it out of my pocket i have called dodge and put in an investigation 2 weeks ago and have not heard back from them just want to know how this is not a manufacture defect and if 1 malfunctions then what are the chances the driver side won't do the same?

Heater will only blow cold air. at first the heater would blow hot air on only the driver side. i took my car to the dodge dealership in jan 2018 to fix. they flushed the system and replaced the door actuators. after this it blew warm air on the passenger side but only lasted for a few weeks. the car will now only blow cold air on both sides. i took my car back to the dodge dealership recently and they're now saying we'll need to replace the radiator, radiator cap, reservoir, engine oil cooler, thermostat, and heater core which will cost me $2700. nothing was done wrong on my side and this is simply a manufacture defect as the dealership has told me this happens all the time with avengers and there're hundreds of people online in forums saying the exact same thing happened to their dodge avenger. my car has only 81k miles and has been well taken care of. chrysler refuses to acknowledge this as a defect when they need to step up and do a recall. i paid over $200 in jan 2018 for flushing the system and door actuators. i paid $103.96 today for the diagnosis. they quoted me $2700 for replacing the parts mentioned above. that work hasn't been done yet.

Good afternoon, to whom this may concern. my vehicle has the air bag light on and i have been going to the dealer ship to get this taken care of and every time i have gone to the dealer they are telling me i have to pay for them to remove the air bag light when a recall was in place for the occupant restraint controller, they fixed that issue but the issue of the air bag still remains. they are asking me to pay $139.00 for them to find the issue and then pay another extra amount to resolve this matter. they are refusing to fix this issue without a cost and it has been way too long trying to get this resolved.

I've had a few issues recently with my 2013 dodge avenger over the past year. when my change oil warning indicator comes on, some of my warning indicator lights randomly come on as well. the first few times my airbag indicator light would come on and stay on. when i took my car for the oil change i asked them check the airbags but there was nothing indicating a problem and once the oil was changed the light would go off and stay off. the next time it was the abs & the tire pressure monitoring system; i got the oil changed they checked, nothing was found again. before this last time, my oil warning came on along with the emergency brake light, as if the brake was up and it stayed on even when i drove, again no problems were found. last night (5/09/18) change oil warning indicator came on. this morning (5/10/18) i started my car (automatic car starter) went out to my car and my tire pressure monitoring system warning light and my electronic throttle control warning light were lit. i tried to turn the car off and back on, however the car wouldn’t shut off right away. when i restarted my car the light indicators were gone. but while driving to work if i were to stop at a light or stop sign my car would idle and feel as though it was about to shut down so i had to put it in park while stopped. also when i had to accelerate from the stop if i just drove like normal and took my foot of the brake and push the gas the rpm’s would go to 7 then drop and my car would shake. i had to take my foot off the brake carefully then drift, and then press gently on the gas until i was able to pick up speed. this is my only vehicle in which i drive my children, please help!!

Driver side blows like warm heat, passenger side blows freezing cold air. i have spoken to three different dodge technicians and they said this is a very common issue between 2010 and 2015 dodge avengers and all dodge vans. sometimes replacing the heater core will fix it sometimes it will not. sometimes replacing both thermostats fixes it and sometimes not. sometimes replacing both blender door actuators fixes it sometimes it does not. sometimes replacing the water pump fixes it and sometimes it does not. many people have replaced all of those things and it still did not fix the issue. dodge really needs to fix this issue because it is ridiculous! this is the first dodge i have ever owned and it absolutely will be the last dodge i will ever own!

Started the car one day and suddenly the check airbag light was on. took it to a dodge dealership and was told that the active restraint headrest system was broken. no damage has been done to the seat/headrest nor the airbag system. the car has not been used unusually and it hasn’t been in an accident.

The actuator behind glove box began ticking. i replaced it 3 times. i have now researched and found this is a known heater core issue. i believe it has a split core system. the heat or defrost does not work on the passenger side. there are multiple complaints online about this. the cost to fix is an average of $1100. but this fix only works for an average of 1 year and then it starts all over again. this should be a recall. it is most definitely dangerous to drive a vehicle that the defrost does not work. windshield is obstructed on one side. will dodge do anything about this? this is a manufacturing problem of some sort. this car only has 89k miles on it. i need your assistance in this matter. i was told by the dealership to come in and pay $150 for diagnostics then if it was a core problem it would be around $1200 but they would not do anything until i paid the $150. when i complained that it appeared to be a dodge issue on avengers the tech said "good luck with that" and hung up.

I feel heat coming from the vent near the driver side window. the middle vents along with the passenger side window vent only blows almost a/c cool air all the time.

The heater core is cold on the passenger side which is a well known and well documented issue with this car and other mopar makes/models. dodge has admitted its a manufacturers defect but will not fix the problem. not only is it freezing in my car but the windshield wont defrost on the passenger side of the front and side passenger side windows. the visibility is terrible and is likely to cause an accident.

While driving down the interstate my car started to emit black smoke from the hood, i pulled ocer to the right hand shoulder to inspect the smoke when i got out there were flames coming from under the hood i called 911 immediately. there were no warning lights or abnormal guage readings prior to the incident. the fire started spontaneously and ive never had an issue with this car before its always been extremely reliable. the car is a total loss.

My car has lost all heat to the passenger side. this is a major problem living in northern wisconsin where we have winter for 6 months of the year. i recently fixed the door actuator because of the clicking and thought that it would take care of the heat problem as well since they seemed to start at about the same time. this did not fix the heat issue. i have been reading about how to fix this problem and have found hundreds of complaints with no answer to the problem. many have spent thousands only to have the problem return after a short time. this is obviously an avenger issue and needs to be taken care of by chrysler. as the driver, i am warm, while my children are freezing.

The airbag light keeps going on and off. a few times i would undo my seatbelt and then secure it again and it would go off. but it comes back on again. brakes: i have had all 4 brakes replaced and my brakes still squeak and they grind. ive had this done twice and it does not fix the issue. it makes a rattling sound when going uphill. and squeeks and grinds when coming to a stop. this has been going on for months.

My front passengers headrest deployed without being in a accident. not really sure on the date, sometime in 2017. i reported it to my car dealer on 8/17/17. i have called chrysler many times. they finally okayed fire bosch crash data retrieal tool which was done on 10/22/18 at 2:30 pm at bill bryan in the parking lot. it showed no accidents. i was told that an email was supposed to have been sent to the service manger, which he said he didn't receive. i have called many times and keep getting the runaround . i wasn't in the car when it happened. my complaint #51413030. wolbert j was the one who was supposed to send out the email to repace it.

Engine stalls while driving on stops

The power steering has gone out in my 2013 dodger avenger, after having the pump replaced, the problem was still not fixed. then the heat stops working, cost o fix that (supposedly the heater core) and the power steering (rack and pinion according to the local dodger dealership) is approx $2000. a quick search in the inter shows these are common problems in this year avenger. it is the way the engine was produced that year. when is there going to be a safety recall for these engines that lose power steering, like mine did, less than 6 months after bought this car.

Takata recall, the air bag light comes on and off it mainly stays on, sometimes the seat belt if put on at a right time the air bag light will stay off but only for a few minutes.

Purchased car with 61,000 miles and right when i picked up car noticed that passengers side air was cold and drivers side was hot. also when adjusting airflow from vent, defrost, floor, floor/vent it does not correctly have the air come out at the selected location. this is a problem happening with the dodge avenger and there is no answer out there saying why this is happening to all year not just one year of the dodge avenger. dodge knows this is a recall item but will not admit they have this problem and assist there customers. there are various ideas out there saying why it is happening but as people try those solutions the problem is not fixed or it comes right back. dodge needs to make this a recall it is costing customers thousands of dollars and know one know what to do to fix 100% including dodge dealers. please help and get this issue to be a recall. the owner before me had this problem and could not get it corrected as i found out and that is why they got rid of it as i look more into the problem.

The "check brake" indicator light continued to illuminate even after we got the "occupant restraint controller (orc) recall fixed. we were told that the ocr was connected to the brake system in turn making the brake light illuminate, and it would go off after you drive a couple hundred miles. after many months this problem still continued intermittently illuminating either while driving - on either city street or highway or when coming to a complete stop at a red light or when it was in park. we took it back to hendrick dodge in charlotte, nc to ultimately be told that we need a master brake cylinder that cost $782.10. this car only had 41,941 miles on it and all services were kept up. the service advisor then told us that this was due to a "brake booster water sheild defect". we would like to report this "defect" that dodge does not offer any "recall" on or any financial assistance with. we would greatly appreciate your assistance in this matter. thank you for your consideration.

While making a stop the passenger seat headrest deployed with a passenger in the seat but no accident impact. the headrest will not reset. i had the car repairs due to the safety recall completed but the dealer says they will not cover the defective headrest. this has reduced the safety of this vehicle.

The drivers side headrest split into 2 pieces for no reason. manufactures specs states that in a rear collision the headrest deploys to ensure the driver doesn’t get whip lash. this vehicle has no accidents at all and was not being driven at the time the headrest separated. i did research and this is a common problem with the headrest in this dodge vehicle. i went to the dealership and it may seem its not covered even with the 7 yr/100,000 mile warranty.

Cold air blowing out of passengers side while drivers side blows hot, and makes annoying clicking sound. the actuators in the dash keep going out!!! this should be recalled thousands of people have no heat because chrysler used cheap plastic in the actuators that are causing them to wear out every year. and the dash makes the clicking sound even when the car is off! this is a major problem when you buy a car to transport your children and there are recalls that i am never getting notified about.

Window defrost and passenger heat /air. while either in motion or while driving, no heated air exits the passenger side of the windshield defroster, nor the passenger window defrost, lower and center console vents. heated air only exits the driver's side windshield and driver's side dash vents. problem persists through all cabin air modes, and circulations. this safety issue effects visibility and passenger safety by failing to defrost/defog windows and keeping cabin temperatures near or below freezing during cold weather (blowing cold air into the cabin).

The passenger headrest activated while sitting in a parking lot overnight. there was no collision but it deployed as if there had been a rear collision. a small plastic piece appears to have cracked over time and allowed the headrest to deploy. this could easily cause an accident if it happened on the driver's seat while it was being driven or injury to someone sitting in the seat at the time.

It doesn't matter if the car is moving or if it is stationary, there is only warm air on the drivers side and there is cold air blowing out on the passenger side. only the drivers half of my windshield will defrost. i have replaced the actuator twice and it does not help. the clicking under the dashboard not only returns, but the heat (or lack-there-of) is not affected. it still only blows warm air on the drivers side of the car. the defrost only works on the drivers side of the car. i understand there are many complaints of this happening to avengers across the board, no matter the model type. all due it looks like to casting and sand issues. after flushing the car multiple times, there has been no change. replaced the heater core/thermostat ($850) and the heat worked for about a week then started blowing cold air again. i took it back and they replaced the heater control panel. ($275). cold air again......... there needs to be a recall of something to fix this issue. nothing is working and it's only costing a whole bunch of money.

I purchased my dodge avenger brand new in 2013. after two years of having my car, my car started to not want to turn on. i would continue to try and sometimes it would work and not other times. i went to get the battery checked and was told it was fine. i then went to a dealership and they said i probably needed to get a fuel injector done so i did this as well and my car still time to time will not start. 2nd my left side body panel one day just popped out of place and when i would go to shut my door it would make a clicking sound from me trying to shut it. i was not in a wreck, there is no explanation as to why my panel popped out of place. 3. my car is now not blowing heat out (and its winter right now) i only noticed this once it became cold out and needed to use it. first couple times i tried running the heat it would do so but only on the driver side. the passenger side was blowing out cold air. i had a auto shop look into this and they said they didn't see anything even wrong with any of it. but that they would need to do a diagnostic beforehand which is going to cost me $195 then i can go from there.. i keep seeing where a lot of avengers are having the same problems with there heating system.. could this be all from a manufacturing problem with the heater core??

Throttle body malfunction which caused vehicle to stop functioning while on 70 mph expressway. vehicle was moved to the side of the roadway and shutdown. when restarted if functioned normally but, the dashboard light would intermittently come on. the vehicle fault codes indicated it was a throttle body issue. the throttle body was changed and corrected the issue. i disassembled the old throttle body and found the problem to be an internal plastic gear tooth failure. this is a non-serviceable safety related part and in my opinion should not fail at less than 80k miles. i asked fca to reimburse the cost of the part and they declined this request.

8-21-2017 had a recall preformed for a airbag issue. after the repair was done there was still a code in the system for the driver active headrest control circuit open. i had already investigated the airbag light ( march 2017) and found many sites stating a broken wire in drivers seat. when i got the car home i finally investigate the wire issue and found the black wire approximately 2 inches before a yellow connector where a plastic stretcher was applied broken inside the fiber covering of the 2 wires. i was a mechanic for 30 years so i stripped the wires and reattached. the light is still on so i am thinking when it broke or what ever it caused a system issue and that this was a known issue and should be repaired by chrysler at no charge. this vehicle has been one of the best chrysler products i have owned. the service technician said it could cost around 400 to fix.

Major fuel leak, leak is when stationary, and while moving. it's coming from the connection of the fuel tank it's rocking back and forth in place. at the bottom of this connection is where the fuel is leaking from. the fuel filler neck fits over this metal connector to the tank. see photos

Letter from congresswoman slaughter on behalf of constituent re defective 2013 dodge avenger. *smd the consumer state six months after buying the vehicle, all four of the brakes seized. then, one year and six month later, the engine head failed and had to be replaced. seven months later, the check engine light illuminated. the engine leaked oil into the transmission and the transmission had to be replaced. *jb

Purchased vehicle 02/2013 six moths later noticed brake light would come on when coming to a stop going down a hill. took in for service, told "brake sensor is too sensitive." one year later noticed when vehicle is in motion beyond 50mph engine will hesitate- feels like it will shut off. similar situation when idling. two years later steering makes lots of noise. none of these concerns have been addressed when brought to staff's attention at dodge dealership. dodge requests i pay $107+ for a diagnostic test. not happy with this purchase more so because i am mother to a three year old and expecting...i feel very unsafe in this car.

6/9/15 car in motion city street refused to accelerate. coasted to side. dealer ship replaced tran pump& torque converter. 7/21 at stop light heard hard knock, stuck in 1st gear coasted to side. dealership did tran overhaul. 7/29 again! on freeway complete shut down of engine and electrical and coasted off freeway ramp. glad we did not get killed. dealership said fixed issue. my son nor i will drive it any longer. other issue was airbag light continuously on 2nd dealership said airbags may not work. glad no accidents occurred.

This week, my airbag light began to blink intermittently, usually when accelerating. after a day, the light came to be on continuously. i got the vehicle to the shop on saturday and was informed the active headrest on the driver side had an open circuit and that the entire airbag system was disabled until we can replace the currently backordered part at a cost of ~$300 plus labor. this is a part that was covered under a recall for my make, model, and year for the active headrest, but my vin does not seem to be included. at this time, i am driving over 100 miles a day with no airbags in a 3 year old car. it is not safe and it is a part that apparently should have been included in the recall. a part that is never used in a 3 year old car should not fail and definitely not do so in such a critical system. chrysler told me they'd add my vehicle to a list for review and let me know if they'll cover the part or not. meanwhile, my extended warranty won't cover it because they feel as i do that chrysler should.

Recently purchased this vehicle and after a week and a half, noticed that my car is not gearing correctly on its own and at times decelerates when trying to accelerate. also when shifting vehicle from park, reverse, drive, etc... it makes a jump with a loud noise.

When starting car, all lights and power features work but car will not turn over. its been a problem that comes and goes with no warning.

My vehicles stalls while driving on the highway and its an automatic. i keep my regular maintenance on it. this has almost caused 3 different accidents on multiple occasions. when i stop my car almost acts as though it wants to shut off. in order to pick speed back up i midst floor it to even get moving anywhere. this is very unsafe seeing as though i have a 2 yr old. something must be done. i'm insuring a car that has had recalls for this very same issues and now dodge tells me they'd have to charge me $115 for a diagnostics test.

I was driving from arkansas to texas and was approximately ten miles from my destination when the car pulled to the right on a narrow two lane highway hitting the approximately one foot tall concrete bride side. it was misting rain and the car kept pulling right and then started to go into a skid. i tried to steer to stop skidding and spun around into the ditch and rolled. only the passenger side curtain air bags and the passenger seat airbag deployed. no airbags deployed on the driver side or from the dash or steering wheel. the vehicle sustained major damage to the front, sides and top. there had been prior warranty repair to the driver seat airbag by orr dodge of searcy because the airbag system malfunction warning light had come on in the vehicle. *tr

From the first time i bought this car the brakes would squeal when i would backup. i talked to the service manager at the dodge dealer where i bought the car about this problem and he said it was a problem with the avenger models from the factory. they tried to solve the problem by cleaning the brake pads but the problem continues down to this day. the chrysler company said they can't do anything about the problem. so basically i have to live with the problem. i got the bbb involved but they could not accomplish anything either. this may not be a safety issue, but it is certainly an irritation. *tr

Picking up change (money) the top bezel cut finger. due to flaw in plastic resulting in sharp edge on top front of piece.(bezel trimming). chrysler sent a inspector out twice. inspector stated to me . all the vehicles were made like this. dealer replace shifter bezel trimming and stated a flaw in the plastic resulting in sharp edge on the top front of piece. new bezel trimming still sharp. but not as ragged. chrysler stated in a letter dated 10/03/2014 i received. the inspector found no indication of a manufacturing defect that caused or contributed to my finger being cut. this is not safe. it is being swept up the rug. *tr

I purchased a brand new 2013 dodge avenger with the 3.6 engine and six speed tranny about a work later i noticed rough shifting clunking and popping sound from the motor mounts and constant thumping and shuddering from the transmission. dealership keeps saying is wrong with it and will not help me. one year later same problem still no help. *tr

I bought the 2013 dodge avenger in jan. 2013. march 2013 came and my windshield wipers would start wiping do to the over cast and shadows. when i took it to dodge they told me there was nothing they can do because it wasn't happening then in front of them. then at 7500 miles in july 2013 my brakes started making loud noises. at first it was only when i backed up then come august it was all the time. after 5 visits of scuffing the roaders up they said if it happened again they said they would replace everything in the brake system cause there was a large amount of complaints in the 300 models, darts, and avengers. first trip to the service department they said they replaced the whole brake system ... brakes, roaders, and pads...(they stated their was scares in the roaders and it shouldn't of been that way with only 7500 miles) to the front and rear . they also stated they left my account open incase that didn't work. however that was a lie they only did the rear and that same day the front was so bad i couldn't drive it. 3 days later they got it back in to the service department and did the whole front system of the brakes. that worked for 1 week and i'm really mad. i have called 17 times left voicemails for the dealer ship manager and service department. my brakes now are sticking and still loud as ever. they still have not returned my call. i only have 18000. miles on this car. i would like to have it fixed. this is not only me having this issue. help us be safe recall for fix the problem please. *tr

Told dealership it was pulling to the left but they could never schedule a time to fix it. finally took it to a different dodge dealer and they said that there was no way to fix the back alignment. they said that dodge had incorrectly put it together and there is no way to fix it! they told me i shouldn't drive my brand new car because it's probably not safe with the angle in which the wheels are!

Airbag light keep coming on while driving with warning bell. eventually stayed on constantly. took car to dodge dealership, they replaced a module ai. to months later, start having same problem. took it back they claim that they replaced the same part. few weeks later my airbag light is jumping back on. *tr

I recently reported my vehicle accelerating on its own up to the speed of 82 mph also thinking that this was a weird occurrence that would not happen again. i was wrong. while driving 40 mpg getting ready to enter a turn my car again started accelerating on its own, foot off the gas was not going down hill or any other reason to pick up speed. also on this same day i started my car and my headlights came on as they should, i noticed my high beams on thinking they were left on from the last time i drove my car i turned them off. driving down the road the high beams all of a sudden came in. i turned them off thinking it was strange. again 2 more times on my way home the high beams automatically came on by themselves. i believe there are some major computer issues with this vehicle but again i am sure of chryslers response ahead of time. called chrysler they just say well if you take it to a dealer maybe they can see if there are any codes. prior to this my sensor had gone bad, lights not working all kinds of things and the dealer was not able to find out what was wrong because there were no codes. took to new dealer they used common sense and not waited for only codes to come up and found the sensor was dead. this vehicle is an accident waiting to happen! *tr

This automobile started out misfiring and using a lot of gas ,and we have had it in the shop numbers of times to have the problem fixed know that it getting older the problem has gone from just misfiring to stalling out to jerking at time to a smell of something hot to the gears changing hard also having breaking problems since about 14000 miles the grind real bad had rotors turned and still having that problem today had it checked out several times know we have this problem if we are stopped and turn the wheel to the right or left and take your foot of the break it takes off on it on it jumps all the problems have been reported to chrysler several times we have been on something called the star program .they tried to give me 500.00 dollars for my trouble then later they tried to buy the car back for msrp. which i would lost money know i have attorney to handle this problem this car is unsafe myself and my family at risk everyday until something is done. *tr

Previously had issue with transmission, valve body replaced and now having same issues as before it was repaired approx. 15,000 miles ago. on july 7th i was passing a vehicle in a passing lane, once i got passed the vehicle and on top of a hill i released my foot from the accelerator only to have my car continue to accelerate to the speed of 82 mph. on its own. my cruise was not on so this could not be the problem. i have never used the cruise and would never have it set over 82 mph even if that could be an issue as i have been asked. extremely scary situation but the brakes did engage when applied and i was able to slow to a safer speed (with my knees knocking in fear!) i have not had this checked yet knowing that the answer from chrysler and the dealer will be "we are unable to duplicate" or "your car is just learning how you drive" (granted i have been driving it since it was brand new). i am extremely nervous to drive this vehicle or have my children or anyone in this vehicle with me. *tr

Car began making creaking noises. took car to dealership and was told that the inner tie rods were bad and would need to be replaced. was also told that this was the third car of similar make and model that day with the same issue. car under extended warranty so they will fix it once i pay the deductible. *tr

While traveling on the freeway a car cut in front of me and i had to "jam" on the brakes. when i applied the abnormally high amount of input to the brake pedal to slow down, little if any extra braking was applied to the car. fortunately there was room in the other lane next to me and i was able to change lanes avoiding an accident. but the brake system did not act properly. since then i have had two additional incidents where "emergency braking" was necessary. in all three cases the brake system failed to provide maximum braking force (considerably less braking than a minivan i own). in addition, in none of the 3 cases did the abs engage (presumably because the maximum braking force could not be attained!). i have compared the brake pedal feel to other cars i own, and other new dodge cars (i rented a chrysler 300 for two weeks and a dodge challenger for 2 weeks) and have found that the brakes on the avenger are very "spongy" as if there is air in the lines. at low speeds the soft feel of the brakes is somewhat masked. at higher speeds and/or emergency conditions, the brakes require extra input and pedal travel to provide the same amount of braking force when the braking force should increase on the car. since the incidents, i have had the car back to the dealership and they confirmed my complaint. the dealership has replaced the master cylinder, booster, and abs module. while the feel has improved a little, the brakes are still spongy and the pedal travel is excessive when trying to apply the brakes harder. i would have thought that all new parts would have solved the problem. however it now leads me to believe that there may be a design flaw. during this time i have also learned of a woman that has a 2014 chrysler 200 (same brake system as the 2013 dodge avenger) and she had very similar issues. *tr

This car has had a vibration and trans shift problem sense the day i purchased the car . from there it has just gotten worse . the car will down shift on it's own to first gear wile driving at highways speeds . this has happened multiple time which usually causes the trans to fail. when this vehicle down shift at highway speeds it causes the engine to exceed the rpm that the dash can even show. the trans has been replaced 3 times . being rebuilt twice and a full new replacement the 3rd time . the first rebuild did not last 5 miles from the dealer before it failed . the second last about 4500 miles and failed. the 3rd trans did not fix the problem and now because the engine has been forced far past what the rpms it should exceed there is now a noise coming from the engine . i have had this vehicle in multiple times to no avail it's still not repaired i was told the vibration was tires . dealer replaced rims and tires . problem is till there took it in many more times was told it's bad tires . i have replaces the tires with 3 different sets . problem is till there . dealers have told me there is nothing they can do to fix the problem they can't figure it out . was told by chrysler that they were done fixing it and i was on my own that they don't know how to properly repair the vehicle as they can't duplicate the problem . i feel this vehicle is not safe to drive and posses a risk to my self and other drivers on the road was told by chrysler llc they can't duplicate it to drive it how it is please help. *tr

The first time i was coming down hwy 17 from wilmington when the right front tie exploded and also messed up the rim. total cost tp me 578.00. the second time i was coming from murrell inlet, sc and the same tire blew out again. total cost 134.00. i had took my car in to get the second tire fixed and told the service advisor that the front end had a poping noise and to have someone drive the car to see what was going on. i picked the car up on 6/3/2014 and asked if anyone had drove it for the noise. come to find out nobody test drove it after it sat out at addys for 7 days. the whole front rack needs to be replaced.it now been 10 days and my car is still at addys waiting on parts. looks like to me someone should have found this problem while it was sitting at addys for 7 days. service mgr was a real asshole and was yelling in my sister face. *tr

We were traveling at 40 mph when i noticed my husband had not fastened his seatbelt in the passengers seat. there were no reminder buzzers on the dash nor was there a icon on the dash of the car. we contacted our service department at the dealership where we purchased the vehicle and questioned them about it, they in turn contacted chrysler and was informed that there is none of the above mentioned in this car! how is it that this car has no warning alarms for this front seat. *tr

Purchased car 7/11/2013: (the 7,000 miles is a guesstimate) 11/21/2013 while in wv for my mothers funeral, parked in gas station, car running, in park, l/r turn signals started flashing independently then the flashers started going off, stopped by themselves. this has continued, took to dealership, they couldn't find any codes, all connections looked ok. started keeping a log of milage when this happens, starting on 1/4/2014 mileage 10,254 and has continued to current date 4/30/2014. this may happen only once but then again it may happen several times within the same milage. can not count the times it happens while car is parked in the driveway with keys in the house and no one touching them. i believe it's the cluster in the steering column. also, i could not get my wipers to spray/wipe until i turned the turn signals on. has anyone else had this happen? *js

I purchased my car (sxt v6) 5/2013 from joe cecconi's in niagara falls, ny.. i've previously owned a 2008 avenger with the 4 cyl. engine and i am a driving enthusiast. i felt the car shifting roughly and i decided to take the car in to the dealership on 10/12/2013 because i was also having a problem with the car pulling hard to the left. the techs assured me that the car was only "learning how i drive" and i explained that my 2008 did the same thing. for the pulling, they did an alignment. when i picked the car up, i drove it and it was about 2 weeks (10/31/2013) before i was able to take it back in due to the same issues; pulling, shaking and a hard shifting transmission. the tech once again told me that there was nothing wrong with the transmission and that my car was way off alignment...even though it was recently serviced. around 12/5/2013, i took the car back once again and i spoke to a tech around 6pm and he told me that chrysler uses "snowmobile type transmissions" and that they will always shift roughly, he explained that there was no fix. i was told that they could not service my car at that time of day. on 12/11/2013 they did a wheel rotation and an alignment, the car stopped pulling for several months, pulling is very slight now, possibly due to needing another alignment now. i have an issue where i will also be traveling in what should be third gear shifting to fourth (attempting to pick up speed quickly, usually thruways) and there are times that the car will not pick up speed quickly, as if it was sitting in sixth gear rather than third or fourth. this issue is not always present and i have decided to drive the car with the auto stick since there is no failure in shifting this way. the rough-shifting transmission is something that chrysler has known about in the dodge avengers for a long time but they seem to disregard their avenger owners. *js

Back of car slides for no apparent reason took to dealer 3 times they don,t have a fix for it chyrlser is going to recall these at some time don't know when.very unsafe to drive they won't give me different car to use until fixed. what happens when i have an accident ??? it is only certain suspension packages that have this problem they tell me they don't know to fix it. i bought this car new how they can allow these cars to remain on the road is dangerous please respond let me know what to do. *tr

I had just merged onto 69 heading home from school. it was around 930pm. i start to pick up speed to blend in with traffic. there was a three car accident that occurred so we all slammed on our brakes to avoid from hitting it. unfortunately i hit the back of a flatbed tow truck going between 45-50mph. to my surprise my air bags did not deploy. even though i had a recall on my car a few months back for the airbags not working right, so i took it to my dealership to have my recall fixed. so when i got in this head on collision i was in shock my air bags still did not deploy. *tr

I was accelerating to 30 mph with traction system on than my car started to slow down had high rpm but speed was decreasing almost had a guy rear end me bc of the speed accelerated fine than just dropped this is the 2nd time this happened to me within a week . *tr

While attempting to exit the vehicle, the front passenger deeply lacerated his right middle finger by slicing it on the razor-thin chrome covering of the interior door handle. both door handles seem to be peeling, and the car is one year, 30,000 miles old. *tr

Bought a 2013 dodge avenger in jan 2013 within a couple weeks of purchasing the vehicle i start having "transmission problems".. when i would take off from my work parking lot at lunch my car would shutter.. a few times at lunch it would not start! i called dealership about how strange my car feels . seemed like it was slow at changing gears and would shift hard. dealership can not find any thrown codes and doesn't feel anything! so i leave frustrated that they can not feel what i am feeling so i take it to my home town dealership tell them about what i feel everytime i take off from a parking lot. ( feb 7th 2013) what they believe is that my car is "trying ro learn how i drive" that they updated my computer. they sent me about my way a few days later when i try to leave work i have to try 4 times when starting my car before it fires off! i then go straight to our local autozone they put a tester onmy battery it shows up weak. then they test my alternator it shows up bad. i have been given two manufacture advisors and havesince been to red river for diagnosis yet to get accomplished! it is now aug 2013 this past sunday i picked up my 6 yr old father as i was leaving a parking lot my car shift hard then did right before i was able to pull out into traffic!!! which is not the first scary car traffic incident we've had in this car! we were out for the weekend here in ar. we were on landers road which is a complete circle almost that exits into high speed traffic where my car then proceeds to shutter as i take off from the exit which was extremely terrific considering it was coming a down pour! at this time red river dodges service men saythey know what i am claiming to feel that it is the way dodge has made their transmissions that this has been a problem in the past and that they are still seeing this problem with other new models. say i'm stuck w/it bc they rep. *tr

Noticed an issue with the steering when quickly picking up speed to pass a vehicle. the steering pulls fast to the right and feels as though the front end is fish tailing. took the vehicle in to have it checked and was told this was normal. it is called torque steer and that all new vehicles do this. trying to control the vehicle is extremely hard. mine was checked, i was told it was bad and they did adjustments and an alignment as well as put the best 2 tires on the front. within 2 weeks my car is doing this really bad again. my steering feels loose and the car is hard to handle at most speeds above 45 i feel as though i am driving on ice at all times. whether or not this is normal is beyond me but it seems to be very dangerous when you can not control the steering in your vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge avenger. the contact stated that the tire monitoring system failed. the tire low pressure warning light was illuminated constantly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times and the dealer advised that there was nothing wrong with the tire monitoring system. in addition, the check engine warning light recently illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a diagnostic was performed which located the failure at the electronic control module. the contact was also advised that the evap canister was fractured. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 8 and the current mileage was 2,540. updated 5/15/14*cn the consumer stated the vehicle would pull to the side, jerk, drive rough/ loud, and had a difficult time gaining speed. the vehicle had a bad odor (comparable to rotten eggs), and the rpms rise to 4,5, or 6. the rotors, brakes, calipers were replaced. the dealer advised the tire pressure fluctuates in very cold/hot weather cause the tire pressure light to illuminate, this is normal. the consumer stated this is false that is not the only time the tire pressure light illuminated. updated 05/27/2014 *js

Lights were in auto position, drove approx. 6 miles with them on and running. mad a stop and shut the car off, when i restarted it and started to drive away i realized my lights were no longer on. had to put them in the regular on position to run them. stopped the car many times, restarted it trying to get the lights to work in auto but had no luck. got home let the car set 30 minutes and restarted the car with the lights in auto and they came on fine. what happens if this happens while driving at a speed of 60mph? safety issue!!! i am very leary of this car and its safety on many different levels! *tr

The car feels like it jumps a bit when going from accelerating to slowing to stopping. feels like a vibration slowing down. also there had been noises coming from the steering column area. and you could hear like a clicking noise. there was another different noise from that area as well. the noises are hard to describe. it has been in the shop and they are basically not finding anything wrong with it. the clicking/sounds are not normal and that vibration is not normal regardless of what they say. the car does not run as smooth as a brand new car should run. will not purchase a dodge again. *tr

While driving at a low speed i put my foot on the gas to speed up and it was as though my car was not running at all. nothing happened. i coasted to the end of the road and at the stop sign i hit the gas only to get chugging, spitting and sputtering sounds as the car tried to go. i was able to go a approx 1/4 of a mile and pulled into a parking area, shut the car off and waited a few minutes. the car seemed fine although a few miles down the road when i went to pass a vehicle there was absolutely no power and the car smelled as though something was burning. i had just fueled the car up before the incident. a week later, i filled my car up and although i didn't stall i had the same situation with putting my foot on the gas to pass a vehicle and not getting any power. i had the pedal to the floor and it was almost like the car was bogged down in the mud. very alarming for a new car. also when passing a vehicle and giving it the gas not only does the front end of this car lift up it is almost as though it fishtails like on ice in the front end. very scary and hard to control the steering while passing. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge avenger. the contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. after waiting several moments, the vehicle restarted and resumed at a low speed. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 13v043000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the vin was not included. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 936.

Car was purchased at the end of october with 17 miles on it. very shortly after, the engine light came on. the dealership turned the light off and it came back on a day or so later. they turned it off and supposedly checked the car. a while after noises started to become more prevalent. the main noise is coming from the steering column area. it happens when there are sharp turns, backing and turning, and if its cold. the noise is hard to describe. it sounds like a thump/clicking type of noise. very annoying and somewhat alarming since the dealership has not been able to fix it in several months...another noise is coming from a little to the left of steering column. this is more of a faint noise. sounds like small clicking. one other noise came from the center of the front of the car. it sounded like something just dropped. like something just fell down. it was very scary actually. the dealership has worked for months to diagnose the problem with this car and have been unsuccessful. this was my first purchase ever and i am very unhappy. i have been told it is not a safety issue but i am not convinced. i think it is an issue that hasn't been brought up very much yet. the cars are brand new and people are still breaking them in and such. i do not feel as safe as i had in this car. i will never purchase dodge again. *tr

High speed front end crash. avenger struck another vehicle from behind and veered off to left and hit cement jersey wall head on. driver was wearing seat belt. significant front-end damage especially to driver side. driver sustained serious injury - c-1 fracture; bottom of skull fracture; lower vertebrae fractures; and broken nose. air bags did not deploy. *tr

While driving my car on the city street it began to overheat. i looked under the hood and discovered the hose connecting to the thermostat had fallen off. i then noticed the filler neck made of plastic had crumbled apart causing the hose to fall off which caused vehicle to overheat. replaced the the filler neck and hoses and car is still over heating. i am having an estimate done on the vehicle tomorrow 9/12/2017. once i have the estimate i will upload the paperwork.
