2013 CHRYSLER 200

Driver headrest deployed open randomly. Car has not been in an accident.

Everyone single one of these issues as stated on the websites (carcomplaints.com and chryslerproblems.com) and in other’s complaints has happened since the day after I bought is from a so-called dealership (road side flip shop) in January 2022.

As stated “There are no warning lights, sounds, or visual cues to indicate any sort of problem.”
The engine just turns off and the gas pedal hits the floor not allowing acceleration.
“In addition to the engine stalling, the power steering and brake assist shuts down.”
“It doesn’t trigger any error codes for an OBD-II reader, meaning technicians won’t be able to diagnose the problem Once the car is disabled, there are varying reports about being able to restart the engine. Some say the car will restart right away like nothing ever happened, while others say they’ve been left on the side of the road waiting for their ignition to respond.”

This has happened on a nearly weekly basis since purchasing it, sometimes multiple times in the week. Absolutely NO warning signs, the engine just shuts off. It has randomly died at stop signs, red lights, in intersections and on the highway in high speed traffic. Once while my elder mother was driving to pick me up from the airport and other times while my significant other was in the car driving he’s 5 year old daughter home from school, the latest one this previous evening and he reported to me that 2 cars had to quickly veering around them at the last second. It was absolutely terrifying for him with his daughter in the car.
After multiple visits to mechanics for the issue. 2 diagnostic tests with no codes and no code history, and a fuel pump replacement that did nothing to resolve the issues.One mechanic was kind enough to state the vehicle has recalls for stalling issues and gave screen shots from his end. I called the number on the recall notices for Chrysler directly and was rudely informed that there were not “active” recalls on the car and that the previous ones, N52 and N02, I was referring to from the notice did not apply to my vehicle which fell in the exact year make and model of the affect recall or that it was fixed in 2013 when the recall 1st came out, I asked for a copy of that information and was told that I had to look it up myself on a .com web-page (mopar.com) and then she hung up on me when i asked for her name and id# for my report to the NHTSA and CAS. Upon further research the recall for the N02 was never repaired only inspected.

This is the third time occurred. The first time it occurred I was on a highway at high speeds. This time I was going through an intersection and started to accelerate. The engine cut off loss of power steering and Power brakes. I coasted over to the shoulder. The car would not restart. Just as it did in the other two previous incidents. I knew what to do because this is the third time it happened. I disconnected the battery which unfortunately erases the codes. Gave it about a minute and a half to two minutes and reconnected the battery. The car restarted and I went on my way. This could be a more serious problem especially at high speeds injury or death could occur.

I was driving with my 6 yr old , my car shut off , everything locked up – I was able to coast into a parking lot , when I turned the key the lights , radio ect came on but engine would not turn over. I was told it was a problem with the TIPM and the part cost 1195.00, 1800.00 total to fix .Second most expensive part – the first being the engine . I had the car serviced regularly , it has never been involved in an accident of any kind and it was only recalled for the seat belt and airbags not being correctly installed.

In July 2017 and again in December 2017 my Chrysler 200 has stalled while driving. Both times it resumed ignition after a period of waiting, but not until I had already contacted my insurance and a tow truck was dispatched. A total of three auto service centers have done a diagnostic on the car. No computer codes were tripped, and there is no explanation for the problem. Now that the car is unreliable, my wife and I hesitate to use it at all: the first incident occurred when we were on vacation in Canada; the second occurred when we were only 12-15 miles from home.

Faulty TIPM; Windshield wipers DO NOT work and due to such, operating the vehicle in inclement weather is extremely dangerous.

Windshield wipers will not shut off even when the engine is shut off. The will only shut down when the battery is discinnected.

THE CARPETING (FRONT). THE CARPETING IN THE FRONT WAS TEARING FROM EACH SIDE OF THE CABIN. IT WAS REPAIRED ONCE, THEN FINALLY REPLACED.THE
AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ERRATICALLY, THE DEALER, (WITH THE APPROVAL OF CHRYSLER CORP.’S APPROVAL), REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE NEW TRANSMISSION SHIFTS NO BETTER THAN THE ONE THEY REPLACED. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW. ALL FOUR TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE WEAR, AT 30,000 MILES. THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT IS DEFECTIVE, IT WORKS INTERMITINGLY. I HAVE A 4 CYLINDER AND THE AVE MILE PER GALLON HIGHWAY IS 20. THE WIPERS HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER 19 MONTHS.

I have experienced several electrical issues during 2014 with my 2013 Chrysler 200. From something as simple as flickering clock lights, the clock on the radio not keeping the correct time, to the more extreme of the engine remaining running although the key is out of the ignition, the car not starting when the key is turned to the on position, the car recognizes the key to be in the ignition even when the key has been removed from the ignition, the alarm system has a mind of its own and often times I am unable to disarm the alarm in order to get inside the car and forced to allow the alarm to go off until I can get inside to turn the engine on in order to turn off the screaming alarm. These are but a sampling of the dangerous issues I have had with this car. I have taken the car to the dealer many times to have these issues resolved and the results of those efforts have had no effect on the condition of the car. After reading all the recalls and complaints from other Chrysler drivers it seems the problems with the electrical system will only get worse from here and I am in fear of my personal safety as well as for the safety of the general public. This car is within the formal lemon law rights period and I am asking for appropriate action in a timely manner.
On October 28th, 2014 I dropped my car off at the dealership for repair with complaints of electrical issues. The alarm was performing with unpredictable tendencies and was not unarming in order to enter the car. After driving a rental for two weeks that came out of my pocket the dealership claimed that they could not duplicate the problem in order to fix it. I was without my car for 11 days. In hindsight Im disgusted that the dealership would not immediately recognize the issue since so many Chrysler customers have had the same exact issues. I was forced to take the car back knowing that the problem was not fixed. Its quite annoying to have to set the alarm off in my car every time I try to get inside. The random electrical problems progressed and the car ignition began having serious issues. Once the key was turned to off the car would restart and the indicator light would say key in ignition although the key had been removed from the ignition. I would have to turn and hold the key to the on position for several seconds before the car would turn over and I began to stress and worry about the day when the car would not turn on at all.
On December 15th, 2014 I attempted to put the key into the ignition and turned the key all the way to the right and the engine did not turn over. I had anticipated this day after several months of having to hold the key to the right for an abnormal amount of time before the car would turn over. I removed the key from the ignition and the engine began to make the sounds as if it was going to turn over at least 10 times while the key was out of the ignition. This was of great concern so I immediately drove the car to the dealership. This was one of the many times that my partner or I had visited the dealership for the various electrical issues. I then told my representative about the issues and he took the car in for service. Previous to that date my partner and myself went to the service department and showed Mr. Slap a video clip of the cars electrical issues, specifically the key ignition issue with the car along with the flickering clock light. My partner had also previously visited the service department and demonstrated to another service advisor (a dark middle aged gentleman) the cars erratic random behavior. We have taken more than the normal amount of time to address this issue and frankly dont know what else we can do to assist in making the problem more apparent to the dealership. The fact that I have been without my car for over a month now and the problems still persists, is not just perplexing but has effected my ability to earn money. I have been held captive by the rental car Im currently driving as I am not able to travel as needed for work and the inferiority of the rental car negatively effects my ability to represent my company appropriately.
On January 15th, 2015 I received a call from the service advisor at the dealership after a month of numerous phone calls and endless communication to Chrysler customer care and the dealership. The service advisor said that he was advised by my case manager at Chrysler customer care to call and tell me that I had to come and pick up my car although the problem had not been resolved. The service advisor said that they had replaced the TIPM (totally integrated power module), the battery, and the clock that flickers yet the electrical issues repeated even after the replacement of the TIPM. He continued to say that the Chrysler engineers did not know how to fix the problem. My case manager from Chrysler customer care called me at 7:00PM EST on Thursday, January 15, 2015 to enforce once more that I must come and pick up my car the very next morning.
After researching the Chrysler recalls it is clear that there is a major problem with the TIPM system. The problem can cause the electrical system to fail, as well as knock out power-assisted steering, antilock brakes and electronic stability control. It can even cause fire or smoke, according to documents Chrysler filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Knowing that this component can lead to airbag non-deployment, vehicle shutdowns, and unintended acceleration and fires is of great concern to my safety. The TIPM system is in millions of Chrysler vehicles manufactured between 2007 and 2014 and my car falls within this window of time. I also read that Chrysler has submitted at least 20 death claims on components that are related to this totally integrated power module (TIPM).
I am astonished that Chrysler would suggest that I continue to drive a car that threatens my safety especially after reading that they are aware of the dangers of the product they sell and could possibly threaten my life. If I were to pick up my car in the condition that it is in I would be accepting this and I can’t let that happen. This car is a threat to my personal safety as well as the general public!

On multiple occasions the car has just shut off on its own while in motion. this has happened at least 10 times. does not matter what speed you are going, the engine will just shut off on its own. the most recent incidents were on a highway going around 55mph and happened twice within a 8 minute period. the first time was going over a bridge and the car shut off. waited about 3 minutes and the car started. 5 minutes later the car shut off again. did not restart for another 10 minutes.

My headrests were replaced due to a recall however, once they were replaced my check airbag light has come on and will not go off. i was brushed off and told that it would turn off after a day or so. it has not and now i'm being told (by the dealership) that i can bring it in however, i'll be charged $500.00 to repay and replace. i had no issues or indication prior to my headrest being replaced leading me to believe that this is no fault of my own. this is a safety hazard and the lack of concern from dealerships service department has been not only disheartening but had me very concerned about the safety of my family and myself serving my only means of transportation in fear that should i be an accident, will my airbags deploy.

Chyrlser 200 4cyl sedan. when driving on the freeway the car doesn't shift to the proper gear. the rpms would be between 6000-7000 and couldn't get over 60 mph. it has happened twice in the past month. the check engine light showed up the second time with a code p0882 transmission control module.

Vehicle died while driving 40-45 mph in traffic would not restart until after sitting for 30 min to 2 hours. there was no warning before it died, it was running normally. after it restarted the service engine light flashed then stayed on solid for a couple days. i was told it was the crankshft position sensor so i had that replaced. the car then 3 weeks later while driving started chugging really bad. i was then told the ignition coil on #2 cylinder was misfiring. i had that replaced along with all spark plugs and car ran the same after driving 4-5 miles then died and no restart. the repair shop found the #2 ignition coil melted into the valve cover and it had also cracked the valve cover. they replaced the valve cover and the #2 ignition coil and it happened again. the car is currently at the chrysler dealership and premliminary estimate is an electrical problem sending too much voltage to that cylinder.so far there has been 2 ignition coils melted. i have been without ability to drive my car for 4 weeks now. please put a recall on this problem !

Several issues. horn blows randomly. wipers come on for no reason. engine stalls driving at speeds 60 mph. may start after several tries. may not start until several tries. horn will also blow with engine off and monkeys in ignition.

The headrest of my seat popped out while driving and forcefully hit the back of my head. the occurrence was random and happened dangerously while driving on a city street. luckily i wasn’t severely harmed in the process however i do imagine that a driver can potentially be harmed severely within this occurrence. i felt as if i was punched in the back of my head with brute force

I have 3 chrysler vehicles and every one has had the heater core go bad! last year it was our 2013 dodge avenger. now it is the 2013 and 2014 chrysler 200's we own. the heat stopped working in all 3 of these vehicles...all within 1 year of eachother. there has to be some sort of defect in order for the same thing to happen to all 3 of these chryslers. i wanted to report this if you keep any sort of record of complaints at all in hope of getting a recall made on this. just by looking on the internet it looks like many others have this problem as well. thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Driving on the highway with the car on cruise at about 60mph the rpms suddenly dropped to zero and the car decelerated to a stop. when i restarted i went about a quarter of a mile before it turn off again. then on attempting to turn over again it would not start. after cooling down (in the turn lane of a busy highway) for about six minutes it finally started again and i was able to pull to a parking lot.

Car loss all power while driving down a city street in motion could not steer or do nothing would not crank up after about 10 minutes it started right up.this has happened 5 times while driving very dangerous. this has been going on for about a year. the last time it did this is february 18, 2021.

Vehicle randomly stalls during operation. this occurred at an interstate intersection. it can occur at random times and throws no code. this is a very dangerous defect in these vehicles.

I have owned this car for 3 years. a year after owning it i began having issues with the engine shutting down while driving. it is random and happens with no warning, no check engine light or any indication that it’s going to happen. it has happened in traffic where i was almost rear ended by a semi because when the engine dies i lose power steering and can’t get it off the road. sometimes it will restart right away other times it takes an hour or more. this has happened while on the highway and city streets. most commonly it happen when i have to take my foot off the accelerator and then reapply, like slowing down for a car turning in front of me, taking a turn and taking an exit ramp. this has happened many times over the last couple years. i have had it at a dealership and they can’t diagnose a problem or recommend a fix. i have also been in contact with the manufacturer and they told me there was nothing they could do and i would just have to drive the car and take it back in if the problem worsens. that is not an option because it is either going to get me stranded on the side of the road or in an accident.

Was hit from the back, and both head rest deoyed. how is this safe? it caused more problems than the wreck along.

The intermediate drive shaft breaks and results in loss of steering and control of vehicle. this is during motion of the vehicle in the city and highway. can be very noticeable during turning and advancing in speed.

I've been having issues with the transmission shifting. while on the highway going up a slight incline the transmission shifts from 6th gear to 5th and back to 6th rapidly. it doesn't matter if cruise control or manual. the second issue is the starting the car and putting it into drive. it goes into gear hard the out of gear and back into gear. when i start to drive the transmission will not shift. it is stuck in gear. i can put it into manual shift and it will not make a difference. i have to pull over. shut off the vehicle and start it back. then the transmission will shift correctly. this happens maybe once a month. recently it has happened twice in two weeks. the third issue is downshifting of the automatic transmission. i have let off the gas and it down shift hard enough to pull your back from the seat. it is worse coasting down a step hill when it downshift hard. i have been to the chrysler dealer four times so far for the same issues first 08/26/2015 second 10/28/2015 third 05/25/2016 fourth 09/17/2016 i have also been in contact with chrysler. both the dealer and chrysler says they have never heard of this issue. the dealer will take a 6 mile road test and say there is nothing wrong. the last appointment the dealer was supposed to drive over 50 miles to try to duplicate my issues. they never took the car on the road and said nothing was wrong and it drove fine. chrysler or the dealership have not made an attempt to repair the vehicle. i have two videos of that the car does on the road and the transmission acts up.

I received a recall notice labeled "occupant restraint controller" over one year ago and the dealership has never received parts for repair. (ref: s61/nhtsa 16v-668) in the meantime, i continue to drive a defective vehicle with a significant safety hazard: "may experience a loss of airbag and seatbelt pretensioner capability" 7/1/17 updated 11/06/2017*js

This motor and others like it have a bad lifter in them when built. these motors should be recalled and the bad lifter replaced.

Engine stopped while waiting at red light and would not start back up. all lights radio ect.. were working. car had gas. got a hotshot, car started back up. the next day go to start car and it wouldn't start. 2days work missed. upset$?!!

Something electrical is draining my battery. when i drive, the check engine light comes on, the abs, traction, and brake light comes on while driving. when i'm idle nothing happens. when i'm on the highway it jerks and stalls a bit. i have to accelerate a lot to keep it going. i've had the battery replace 2 times in the past 3 months - brand new. it keep draining my battery. the alternator was fine. i took it to the dealership they told me they can't read it if the lights are not on. but it only comes on when i'm driving. the lights in the car, headlights, and radio all go out while i'm driving then back on. the headlights flicker. i'm about to need to have the battery replaced now a third time with no help from the dealership. my engine light is still on and and it drives rough and i smell gas when i'm driving. i just bought this car in august and i've had more issues with it than any other vehicle i've ever owned. i've only received 1 recall for the vehicle, i believe it should be thoroughly checked because it's too many issues for a car that's only 4 years old.

Wipers won't shut off, electrical failure

I need to get this solved as soon as possible, driving with a defective vehicle is not safe for anyone. especially my toddler in the back seat, it may not seem like a life threat however it is if i loose control of the vehicle. i am scared of driving this vehicle at the moment.

When i purchased the vehicle in 2013 it was considered used at the dealer and soon after purchasing it the passenger seat belt would not unbuckle when the passenger pressed the red button to unlatch the belt. quite a few times the passenger had to literally climb out from under the seat belt to get out of the vehicle and if it was still latched i really had to pull hard to get it to unbuckle. sometimes on long trips i would make the passenger sit in the back seat because this became quite an issue. sometimes it would unbuckle as it should have and other times i fought with it so hard i never thought it would unbuckle. of course this would happen when the car was stationary but getting ready to drive with everyone putting on their seat belts and it would only be the occupant seat belt that would do this when i parked and everyone was departing the vehicle. the seat belt would not unbuckle. i received a recall notice for this problem without having a solution on or near the recall date of september 13, 2016.. i have been checking the recalls.mopar.com site and there is still no solution. if there was any kind of accident where the occupant could not get the seat belt unbuckled and the airbag not deploying it could be serous if not deadly. i have the original recall notice and a recent update stating the they still do not know how to fix this problem. who sends out a recall notice without a solution? that worried me right away. i feel they should have given the people that received this recall notice a solution right away there are people that have might have been seriously injured or even died because of this. this recall is something that they stated if someone other than the dealer fixed the problem it would still have to go to the dealer to make sure it was fixed correctly. it started happening right away and maybe thats why it was back at the dealer.

We were in an accident my son and husband were in the front seat and the both had injuries. my son had neck injury and i feel that it is due to the headrests in the vehicle. i would just like for this to be looked into. we were at a stop when the vehicle was rear ended by 2 vehicles. the headrest literally blew open. prior to this the wipers would turn on, anytime we used the signal light.

The occupant restraint controller module and seat belt pretensioner has a likelihood of not working properly in the event of a crash because of a transient short across the occupant restraint controller module, therefore increasing the chance of injuries in the vehicle if a crash should occur. fca has sent out a notice in october 2016 and has done nothing since. there hasn't been any communication to the customer whatsoever. they have offered no interim solution to keep the customer safe, very displeased with there action so far.

"takata recall" upon starting my vehicle to go to work i noticed that my airbag and seatbelt indicator were both on. i fastened my seatbelt and both indicators still stayed on. i proceeded to drive my vehicle to work and they were still on when i made it to work. when i came out for lunch break and started my vehicle they were off, but they continue to periodically come on and stay on even with both the driver and passenger seatbelts buckled. i called huffines of lewisville and they told me that indicators were probably related to the current recall however they stated they could not repair my vehicle because they have not received the parts from the recall but if i wanted to bring my vehicle in and pay for a diagnostic and the repairs they would be more than happy to repair my vehicle. they went on to say that the recall has affected millions and to date there is no resolution for consumers. please help!

My 2013 chrysler 200 stalls intermittently without warning. sometime at stop light or when decelerating. have driven through a intersection to see it stall. have to then stop. put into park and restart. very scary.

My car has just under 50,000 miles on it and is well maintained. twice in the past week, the engine has stalled while coming to a stop at the exact same stop sign. there is no warning prior, during, or after. i have been able to put the car in park and it has started right back up.

This is my second compliant, though i should’ve been complaining since buying this vehicle in june 2016. my car wouldn’t start and the engine would stall, no battery issue. all of a sudden a month later it started. i took it to my mechanic he said the engine light said a catalytic converter...but the catalytic converter does not need replaced. i have have my serpentine belt replaced 7 times in the last 3 years. i can hear my engine shifting roughly. in the month i bought the vehicle, i took it to the dealership to see what was wrong and why my rpm was going up when parked and the engine would stall. they told me if i didn’t use the different fuel (which i only did twice) that it would stop. i was stuck with the car, and still am. my “gas cap” light has been going on and off for years. i had my fuel system checked and a valve was replaced, sensors have been replaced. my engine now sounds worse than ever with knocking, whirring and shakes almost always. i’m told there is an electrical issue and/or the engine tensioner but no one can truly pinpoint the issue....it’s extremely frustrating. please recall this lemon. i have told everyone possible to never buy this brand of vehicle. this purchase was the worst mistake of my life.

On 6/16/2018, i was involved in a highway accident when traveling south and a deer ran out across from the north side of the highway crashing right into the front drivers side of my vehicle then flew up in the and crashed down right threw my windshield while i was traveling at a rate of speed of 50 mph. i was severely injured since my seatbelts failed to restrain me and none of my airbags deployed at the time of the accident. however, months after vehicle was repaired following deer collision the airbag spontaneously deployed and i suffered secondary injury. i need some answers on why i wanted notified about the recall before now. i just received the letter regarding recall on the vehicle’s airbags and seatbelts two years later! this is unacceptable. i have plenty of photos however need to upload, please contact me. thank you

In july 2019, my 2013 chrysler 200, that i purchased brand new in 2014 just stopped. wouldn’t go forward or backward. i was stuck in the middle of the road on a steep hill. i went from 45 mph to nothing without any warning. no warning lights ever came on and the car wasn’t acting any different than it had the million times i had taken it to the dealership for it being jerky when taking off. they repeatedly told me there were no issues found and the car was fine. i was and still am the soul owner of this car that didn’t even have 85,000 miles on it. i spoke with chrysler several times about my warranty and the now bad transmission. they told me to take it to the closest chrysler dealership. which i had it towed there since the car was no longer drivable. i was contacted a few days later by the service department telling me it was, in fact the transmission and would need a new transmission. this car was out of warranty by 30 days give or take and was still under warranty by miles. but since it’s an either-or warranty, i was now out of a car that i had paid almost $30,000 for, unless i wanted to go in half with chrysler and pay them an additional $2113.44 to replace or fix the current transmission. the transmission is a closed transmission but didn’t require any service until 96,000 miles per the owner’s manual. had i had, my then 9-month-old grandson with me when the car went from 45 mph to nothing and a vehicle had been behind me, we both could have been seriously injured or even killed. the car never gave any warning that there was an issue before there was an issue. i find this completely unsatisfactory as a parent, nana, and quite frankly a human. had i known of this website when this happened, i would have reported it then! hope you are able to make this kind of situation not happen to someone else.

Car shut down when slowing and turning and randomly. there is not warning and car will not immediately start back up. mostly on city streets but in traffic areas and curved roads. so when turning left and slowing down for that turn it just shuts down and i barely make to pull it to the side of the road and i had to have it towed home when it wouldn’t start back up right away. this has happened 5-6 times in the last 3 months after i have purchased the car from instant auto.

I have 3 chrylser vehicles and every one has had the heater core go bad! last year it was our 2013 dodge avenger. now it is the 2013 and 2014 chrysler 200's we own. the heat stopped working in all 3 of these vehicles...all within 1 year of eachother. there has to be some sort of defect in order for the same thing to happen to all 3 of these chryslers. i wanted to report this if you keep any sort of record of complaints at all in hope of getting a recall made on this. just by looking on the internet it looks like many others have this problem as well. thank you, ingrid

I doing 70mph on the fwy and the car just lost power. i took it to a shop and they said it was the fuel pump. i had it replaced. 1 week later i tried to start the car and it would not start. i called aaa and when they came the car started. the same day i was on the fwy and the engine shut down again. i was terrified as a big rig was right behind me. i called the mechanic and had the car towed to his shop. he tested it and said the fuel pump must be bad. we replaced it again. the car seemed to run fine. please note i only drive 5 to 10 miles a day. i was on the fwy again this week and the engine quit again. i went online to see if i was the only one having this kind of problem and found dozens of people having the same problem. i was very disharden to learn there was no recall for this. i was almost involved in 2 serious wrecks on the fwy. i called my local chrysler dealer to be told there was nothing they can do. please advise

All of sudden i felt a jolt in the gear shift and then i lost power steering and i couldn’t step on the gas to accelerate . so i pulled over the best i could, on the highway going 55 mph. i shut the car off and when i turned it back on after giving it a couple minutes it was turning over but not turning on. the engine was completely stalled. no warning lights or check engine lights. it was completely random. i had to call family to come pick me and my daughter up. after a few hours we came back a new tried it. it worked but after driving it an hour it did the same thing again. i checked the recalls for my car and their isn’t, however when i read up on forums and my car has the same issues as the other 2013 chrysler 200s. with engine stalling and greater possibility of an engine fire. i think the make and model of the vehicle needs to be investigated. i had my toddler in the car and it was frightening. i’m diligent about keeping up maintenance on my vehicles and if any inclination and or warning i would’ve been at the mechanic.

I purchased a chrysler 200, 2013 from manhattan chrysler. this car is a lemon it has a bad transmission and the anti-lock brakes lock at random. i took the car to manhattan chrysler for repair when it only had 21,000mi. they recognized the transmission problem after the second visit. chrysler said that the brake are no longer under warranty. after they rebuild the transmission the vehicle still didn't perform the transmission continued to slip in second gear. i returned the vehicle to chrysler, now the fourth time in repair. at this point, i was directed to the reconsideration dept. they offered as compensation a one time car payment of $493.13…i was absolutely insulted because i paid $39.505.00 with finance charges. i sought legal help but they weren't much help. i was told by lemon law atty. that litigation would take 2 yrs. and i may not even receive $4,000.00. chrysler, totally disregarded my attorney and would not corresponded to any phone calls or letter on my behalf from the atty. i am a veteran and i am totally disabled with a severe back injury and i use a cane to walk because i fall often. my mom recently had a severe stroke she is now in rehab 45min. away and i don't have transport ion to go check on her. i voluntarily surrender my vehicle to the finance co. now my credit report reflex a $16,000.00. default for the lemon i purchase at chrysler. please help!

As i was doing 70 mph on the hwy my car started slowing down to 30 mph and would not pick up speed, the symbols that came on the car were for the electronic throttle control and the electronic stability control. i pulled over and turned the car off and after a minute or so, i restarted the car and continued on, after being able to drive only a few feet, it started again. once i made it home, i let the car sit overnight and when i drove into work this morning after 14 minutes on the hwy, it started again.

31 days after purchasing my vehicle the blower for the heat and air conditioning began to sputter and work sporadically then completely quit a week or so later as a result an essentially new vehicle has no heatband no defrost which i've learned is dangerous when it's raining as i can't see out of the windshield. i believe this is am electrical issue not only because of the way the blower broke but sometimes the power windows will stop working then work again. warning lights will flash on for no reason then disappear. the gas light will stay on long after gas has been put in the car do that i have to turn the completely off then back on to make it go away.

My power windows won’t go up at times. when my driver side window rolls up then the passenger side window won’t roll up and vice versa. when my passenger side window works fine the driver side window won’t roll up. the electrical problem has caused my cigarette lighters and charger ports in my car to stop working! it happens whether sitting still or moving. the window wash that window cleaner comes out of keeps getting clogged.

Had to get radio fixed when i first got the car. after a year it started making crackling sounds, then it stopped. so i started playing cds and now they make a popping sound every 3 seconds. the trunk was opening once and a while now it doesn't open without moving the back seat. while looking for a resolve, i see many people have these same problems.

Head rest deployed on it's own and there was no accident, no bags were deployed , and the car was parked . went to a dealer and he was no help.the thing is i did nothing t cause it to deploy. if i were driving it would have cause a accident by hittig my head.

I was driving on the highway and the passenger side safety headrest spontaneously deployed. there was no impact to the vehicle which would cause this. after inspection of the headrest i noticed broken pieces of plastic in the mechanism.

The passenger side active headrest restraint (ahr) deployed despite the car being parked and unoccupied. the headrest was poorly manufactured as a plastic piece inside the headrest cracked and therefore jolted forward the headrest on it's own. the car was otherwise in good condition but the faulty headrest presents a major safety hazard as it could deploy while driving down the road or could have caused neck/head trauma if a passenger had been in the car.

My car was parked and as i was entering my car in the drivers seat and leaned my back against the seat to adjust my position in the car seat, the headrest airbag deployed. i went to the dealership the next day to be told the part was discontinued and not covered by my warranty and could not be removed as was a safety issue, so i had to put zip strips on it so i was able to drive the vehicle and i have been unable to find the part to have it replaced.

Just purchased the car and less than 24 hours after buying, the car sits dead. noticed there was no coolant in the overflow so i added coolant and once i got into my vehicle it had the battery light illuminated. i drove it about 2 miles and the traction control light came on, the airbag light came on, the electrical system light came on, the abs light came on, and the check engine light came on before my vehicle completely died and has not moved since! i jumped it but it stalled out before i could even get the hood closed and drive anywhere. i replaced the battery but the issue here is the alternator! why hasn’t this been recalled yet??

Reference recall p60 for alternator diode issue. the complaint vehicle has an intermittent issue with a dead short to ground condition within the alternator. vehicle running will intermittently dead short to ground. the vehicle shuts off unexpectedly in this condition and the battery and electrical system is completely shorted and nonfunctional. in this condition i removed the electrical connection to the alternator and voltage was restored. replaced the cable and observed the short condition again. it is very disturbing that the scope of this issue was not adequately defined initially. i have escalated this to fca directly and was provided with a reference number of: 76150991, they have said that there is nothing they can do and the repair is out-of-pocket until chrysler engineering to the nhtsa makes a different decision. i truly believe there are several people who will unknowingly replace the battery and start driving again, putting their lives and others on the road at risk.

My chrysler 200 has been turning off out of no where. no check engine light or anything turns on. my cars horn goes off randomly in the middle of driving and when put into park. i had 3 recalls and recently went to get them fixed thinking it would help , since one of the recalls was reprogramming the main module of the car. still to this day it turns off on me. just the other day i was in town making a turn and it stopped before i was able to complete the turn. it’s also turned off on me many times when i’m driving in one direction. after it turns off i am able to re start it, and other times i have to wait several minutes before i’m able to get it turned back on.

My engine keeps stalling when i decelerate or come to a complete stop. it has done this multiple times in just one week and it's very dangerous. i slowed down on i-77 due to something laying in the highway and my engine shut off. i had to hurt and put it in neutral to crank it back up. thank god it crunk it in time to keep me from being hit by another vehicle or semitrailer truck. *tr

2013 chrysler 200 limited stalls out while driving. started sept. 2019, and has happen (eight times) almost monthly or every 500 miles. no warning- no power steering; no power brakes. after stalling- car cranks and can take up to 1-2 hrs before engine will turn over again. i have taken vehicle to four separate mechanics; including chrysler dealership and not one has been able to diagnose problem. also, car does not throw any codes. i have replaced the battery; fuel pump and had pcm update and vehicle still stalling out while driving.

Throttle body goes bad every 3 months and goes into limp mode.

At random my cars dies/stalls. i could be at a stop sign and the engine lose power shakes then dies. i could be driving in town cruising down main street at 25mph and my car engine will lose power shake then die while i’m still driving in motion. i could be driving on the free way with speeds at 70 mph and my car will just die, foot goes all the way in peddle when dead. you could feel no power in the car and it will roll out. once the car is dead the power steering is out. it’s very unsafe. i’ve been broken down for hours on the side of the road or minutes. i’ve been broken down in all 3 situations multiple times as stated above. the car shows no warning when it is going to die, no engine lights either, happens at random. very unreliable and it tragic that i have to keep paying for a vehicle that does not perform like it should, i’m paying for a broken car. dealership wants no part of it. i’ve got a recall letter, took it in and nothing was fix. they say it was the pcm but little did they know it was a brand new on. already was updated. i feel nothing was dont to take care of the problem since the dealership had about 10 other people with recall letter. i’d really appreciate the help if any can be assisted

The engine keeps stalling while driving without warning. it is unable to restart for about 30 minutes, then will start up normally as if nothing has happened. i have taken it to chrysler service several times to be told that nothing shows up on the diagnostic and they cannot determine the issue to this very dangerous problem. the problem happens while the car is in motion and can happen anytime regardless of speed, location, or what the car is doing. it happens repeatedly, approximately every 3 weeks.

Driving over 60 or 70’miles per hour on the highway and accelerating too fast (stepping on the gas pedal too much) i.e. flooring it. the engine will shut down and will not start again for awhile. once the vehicle starts up then it works fine. rarely do i need to accelerate that much going that fast but it’s happened more than once and the mechanic i went too said his son had the same problem with the same make and model vehicle.

While driving slower, decelerating, or beginning to accelerate from a stop, the brakes and steering lock up, and then the car stalls/shuts down. this has happened over 5 times in the past 2 weeks. prior to that, it would happen about once a week for about two months. it has occurred right before having to merge from a lane of heavy traffic (bumper-to-bumper) onto a busy highway, putting me in a dangerous position. luckily, after turning the ignition off and then on again, everything works fine...until it doesn't again.

The heater coil has stop working on passengers side, from build up of sludge. it only blows hot air on driver side, not all the time. so i do not have a defrost to keep my windows clear so i do not good visibility. i have researched up on this issue and a lot of these cars have the same problem

As i was driving my car on the interstate, all of my lights came on and then it completely shut off. i tried to start it multiple times, and then when it finally started up again, the whole engine was shaking and made my mufflers rattle as well. then it completely shut off again. i have a new battery, fresh oil change, and my car has been checked for issues and none were found. my engine has quivered every now and then since i bought it in june of 2016, it is a 2013. something needs done, the company needs to issue a recall because there are multiple complaints of the same issue. i did contact the chrysler company and made them aware of my situation.

Clockspring failed causing lack of horn and possible air bag problems.

My vehicle shut down on the highway at a high rate of speed (70mph). my steering was also not working at the time. was able to finally pull over. restarted the vehicle and it was fine. this is very dangerous.

2013 chrysler 200 3.6l v-6 80,000 miles. during the 2018 winter in noticed my car was not coming up to running temperature and no t getting good heat out of the vents on drivers and passenger vents. i changed the thermostat and noticed a lot of grit and what looks like dirt in the antifreeze, but now the car comes up to running temperature and now i get good heat out of driver side vent but not out of the passenger side vent. i have been doing some reading on chrysler 200 forums and i see a lot of complaints of the same problems i am having and saying the cause in is that the heater core is plugged and is about $900.00 to $1200.00 to fix. is chrysler going to cover the cost of the repairs? the cause of the heater core being plugged is when to blocks were being pored and machined leaving sand and other debris in the blocks because they were not cleaned properly.

While i was sitting in my parked vehicle, engine off, leaning towards the center of the car to adjust something the headrest of the driver's seat deployed unexpectedly. it is unable to be re-attached, and i found a small piece of broken plastic in the rear seat that hadn't been there before. having looked at recall information and other incident reports, i believe this to be in the same category of some other complaints regarding headrest failures. i will be contacting my dealer to get this repaired. i bought the car new in 2013.

Driver seat headrest deployed while driving on smooth highway surface at 70mph making a large noise and hitting hard the back of driver's head. there were no lights or indication of problems on the dash board. after i examined the headrest the plastic holding the metal bar had deteriorated so that the bar could not be placed back in its original spot, and the bar was found in the clamp below. the clamp was still locked. the headrest could not be reset since the plastic was broken. the headrest in this vehicle has had 3 recalls for not deploying in an accident and all have been serviced on this vehicle. this vehicle has never been in an accident and has had no reason to deploy. the force when deploying can cause neck or head injuries to the occupant and therefore this is a safety hazard. the company would not cover replacement and the total cost to replace the headrest and install came to $730. after discounted with a coupon for 12%.

"takata recall" my front passenger headrest opened up and can not be put back together. i came out to get in and it was open. took it to dealer and they said it would cost over $400.00 to replace. the car was setting still.

On august 20th i noticed the headrest on the front passenger seat had deployed. the headrest mechanism deployed while the vehicle was parked. i noticed several small pieces of black plastic on the front passenger seat. upon examining the headrest, i saw that the plastic which was supposed to hold a spring mechanism had failed. the active head restraint was allegedly fixed during an earlier chrysler recall, as there were issues with the arh not deploying. it now appears that the fix may be calibrated too sensitive and the ahr deploys with no trigger event. my chrysler 200 had 51,000 miles when this occurred; it is still cover by a platinum service contract although the dealer is balking at allowing the repair under warranty. the defective headrest is still installed in the car. i am contacting chrysler to make the needed repairs as well.

At approximately 3:10pm on 8/29/19, the car was on and in park with the ac turned on, as my son in law was placing his 33-month baby in the car seat, located behind the drivers seat. my son in law sat down in the driver seat and was pulling his feet into the vehicle when he heard a loud blast and felt the seat headrest explode against his neck and back. he states he may have blacked out for an undetermined time. although he was disoriented, he then turned around in the seat to check on his son, who was crying. he noted that the headrest was split apart. no notation of any dust or particles were noted. he then drove the vehicle home and parked it in the driveway at our home. my son in law had bad headaches that night, so i encouraged him to go to the emergency room to be checked. the er physician felt that he did have a concussion and gave him instructions on care post-concussion. chrysler is sending a technician to check the car. i have signed an agreement that allows them to review the orc (occupant restraint controller) and the edr (event data record) and to share this information with the nhtsa. this car was purchased in may or june 2016 from carmax in austin texas and has been in for all recalls since that time. there is one recent recall that has not been completed due to waiting for texan chrysler/dodge to get the part and call me. please let me know if any further information is needed from me. i am very concerned that this could have caused a collision or worse and injured my family. *dt [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr *tr

Throttle body warning light went on, car hesitating when accelerating. surging upon initial start in the morning.

The connector for the radiator hose from the fluid reservoir to the radiator broke, leaking radiator fluid on the ground. the connector was made of plastic. had to have it towed to a repair shop, where the hose was replaced, the system flushed, pressure checked, and refilled with fluid. cost us $546 in parts and labor.

While driving the car on the highway, the car dies and has to be jumped. the jump only makes it a short distance before shutting of again. all the lights come on ,on the dash and shut the car off

While driving at a normal speed, the speedometer would go up past 80 or go around where no numbers was. i've took pictures, too it to the dealer, the couldn't find the problem because it wasn't happening at that time. it has happen numerous times & you cant just take it in without an appt or when it happen cause you dont know when it will happen. it happens on the street or highway while in motion. it tesetonce the car is turned off & back on.

I had 4 wheel alignment done on my 2013 chrysler 200 as the wheel was pulling, shook at certain speed and steering wheel was not straight. those problems were corrected but now i have a clunking sound coming from the left front sounds like under gas and brake pedals. also when car is in park and you turn steering wheel you hear a noise, so maybe the clunking comes when moving steering while driving but this is a very annoying noise and if you look up this year car on utube the video describes the noise exactly. this car has less than 40,000 miles on it. i will be checking with chrysler dealership in morning to see if there were any bulletins on my car for this annoying clunking sound.

Over the last two months i’ve been dealing with something called a no crank no start as the people say . basically you’re car could start one minute and then you could cut the car off and it won’t do anything it won’t start or crank .

Vehicle was stationary. went to turn on vehicle and the engine light starts flashing. it has never done that before and the vehicle is only used to driving back and forth to work. got it checked out and found out the catalytic converter has gone bad and is very clogged.

Driver's head restraint was activated without cause. dealer replacement costs $390.00, not including service and installation charges. vehicle was parked in an area outside a meeting place and there is no visible damage.

Seat belt on front passenger side retention locks. the dealership had to take out front seat to get the car seat back in normal operation.

4 different times, the car has just lost power while driving. i have had it to my mechanic 4 times and they cannot find an issue. this last time i was driving on the highway going 65mph and it just lost all power. i had to be pushed off the highway. this could have caused an accident. an hour later it started up and i drove it straight to my mechanic. it has happened 4 times in the last year.

I purchase my chrysler 200 around 1/8/2019 today is 6/15/2019 and i am getting this clicking noise around the front end rather you turning or driving and its pulling to the right. i have taking my chrysler 200 to atleasted (6) repair shops they all gave me different answers about what it going take to fix the problem.i am so confused and disappointed & feeling some kinda way about this chrysler 200 right now. so dick norris buick gmc in palm harbor, fl. My chrysler 200 will not always start. i have taken it to a few different mechanics and no one can figure out why. it is intermittent when the problem occurs. i have had diagnostic testing done and no errors are ever found. battery and starter have been tested and they pass with flying colors. also the heat on the passenger side does not work. i've also had that looked at by the dealership i purchased my vehicle from and they could not find the reason why it doesn't work. i have checked recall status and nothing comes up for my vehicle. very frustrating!!!

I have owned this car for a while now. i live in a place that is below 40 degrees more often than it is above 40 degrees. the issue this car and many others are plagued with is a heater core and radiator that are plugged due to a manufacturing error from chrysler directly. a plugged heater core and radiator not only is unsafe; it is unethical business practice. when my car does not properly heat, i cannot defrost my windshield barring my visibility and creating a massive safety risk for myself and fellow motorists. not only does my heat not work properly, my car will overheat on certain occasions. to an inexperienced car owner the risk of destroying their engine is incredibly high. the repair can run as high as 1500 dollars at the dealership. i should not have to pay for an error that is not my or a shops oversight, and an incredibly dangerous oversight at that.

Car had a recall of airbag module (s61) & after this was repaired, it has a seatbelt warning for active head restraint bc14 (circuit open). i've seen many posts about a similar problem with chrysler cars. and, now i have to pay to get this repaired or the headrest may not operate properly in the event of a rear end accident.

On the heat, the vent on the left of the drivers side gets nice and warm, the next vent to the right of the drivers side, gets not as warm, the next vent to the left of the passengers side very cool, and the next vent to the right of the drivers side very cold.

Was driving my 2013 chrysler 200 home last night doing 55mph all the sudden my car jumped rpms and started accelerating really quick. i started to break but the car kept going so i had to put the car in nuteral shut it off and coast to the side of the road for a safe place for the tow truck to get the car

Approximately 2 months after purchasing my 2013 chrysler 200 ltd (6-cyl.; mileage approx. 79k), the car began randomly losing power and stalling out while i was driving. when this occurred, i only had a few seconds to slowly coast to the side of the road to get off the highway. the car would not restart, and i had to call a wrecker. this has now happened 5 times. all of my trips were local when the engine stalls occurred, and each stall came without any warning while i was simply cruising down a highway or a city street, and not traveling up or down any significant slopes. when the car engine died, the dashboard indicators all illuminated while the engine was dying. i have had chrysler service respond to the scene immediately to get diagnostics, and the car is not throwing out any diagnostic codes. when the engine dies, it can be restarted after the car sits for awhile... maybe a few hours. the pcm (computer) was replaced and all software patches have been installed, but that didn't fix the problem. the car has been in the chrysler dealership repair shop over a month now, while they wait hopefully for a technical wizard to impart exploratory repair magic over their star network. i sure would like to have my car back....working. i was fortunate to have been able to get my car off the road on the occasions that it died. i could have been in a very dangerous situation otherwise. it is noted that nhtsa closed their investigation of this problem with the chrysler 200, shortly after a software patch was released in sept. 2012.

Gear shifter gets stuck and won't shift from park to reverse or drive. makes a clicking noise several times and then will shift. seems this could be dangerous in drive mode if it slips out of gear. i am entering a date below but has happened several times. over 20 in the last year. seems to be worse when cold but not necessarily only when cold.

While idling, driving at low speeds or in park, the car randomly stalls. also while using the remote start, after turning the car on, it stalls. i have had several things replaced on the car, but it still randomly stalls.

My chrysler 200 2013 touring stalled on me while coming to a stop at a stop sign i was stuck in a intersection for almost an hour and had to direct traffic around me so i wouldn’t get hit. this is not the first time this has happened. this is the 5th time my car has stalled on me and i’ve only had it for 2 months, stalled twice on busy intersections i could have died. it stalled on me while i was going 55 mph and the lanes were so tight i almost couldn’t get to the side of the road without getting hit and when i finally did the lanes were so close that i couldn’t park on the side of the road for safety without being terrified someone going to come down the hill and not see me and hit me. also i was just doing a beach cruise one time and it stalled on me i had to park and wait like a hour and 30 minutes for help. another time i was doing a right turn onto my house and the engine just shut off so i had to make a wide right turn with barely any steering power could’ve been a major accident. the car just loses it power and shuts off without any warning. i’ve gotten a diagnostics and nothing showed wrong with the car, but there is something wrong. i’ve seen many of the same problems people are having online and the problem is not getting fixed at all. i’m seeing people replace fuel pumps, starters, batteries, alternators and no fix for the stalling just wasting money. thousands of people online on sites are struggling with this car. people cars are stalling on them and are almost getting them killed. chrysler is not doing anything to help these people, no recalls on the car and people are taking their cars to the dealership and wasting money because the problem still occurs even after the dealership. really sad there needs to be something done with these cars my life is in danger and i’m only 19 years. the chrysler 200 needs to be recalled very dangerous car

Torque converter stopped working properly causing the car to stall while at slow speeds and breaking. this could be in urban and rural settings. any example of slowing down, stopping, yielding, etc. upon diagnostics it was found the torque converter needed to be replaced, as well as a pump (which one was not specified by the service e team) starting in early to mid october 2018

Air bag light is on and was told by dealership it was something with the head restraint....in witch i see has been recalled already but my vehicle is not included in the recall when i search my vin....how do i take care of this

There is a faulty actuator in the air conditioning system that controls the blenders. it clicks when the vehicle isn't running and it is draining the battery, unless the car is run frequently/daily

I was driving down a city street at a speed of 25 mph and my head restraint deployed. i was extremely startled by this. please be careful because this is extremely dangerous. this incident left me sore in the back of the head. i'm not sure what caused the head rest to deploy.

I parked in my driveway. when i exited the vehicle i heard a loud noise and say the driver headrest pop up and split apart disclosing the internal mechanism. i was fortunate not to be driving when this occurred. i have found at least 16 complaints concerning this problem on the internet and i'm amazed that there has not been a recall. i fear that the passenger headrest will pop and injure my passenger.

My engine has cut off numerous times while turning as i was driving. when i try to restart the engine turns over but won't stay running. i have to let car sit for about 10 minutes then try again & it starts.

I have a 2013 chrysler 200 with the “pentastar tick”. a known problem to be found in the 2011 to 2013 dodge, jeep, and chrysler. this issue comes from the cylinder head or in my case the camshaft rockers and lifters. these are known issues with the pentastar engine, to the point it has received the name the “pentastar tick”. a 150,000 mile warranty has been extended toward the cylinder, but as for the camshaft no extended warranty has been authorized. since less consumers are affected by or report the camshaft issue, fiat chrysler auto feels it is not liable. a problem they know exist but if it appears at the end of the 5 years/100,000 mile warranty and it does not include any life threatening issue for the car owner, they are not responsible for the pentastar engine.

2013 chrysler 200 passenger headrest deployed. sept 2017 had chrysler 200 orc replaced due to recall. april 27th 2018 while driving at approximately 20 miles per hr, the passenger side headrest deployed for no reason, striking my passenger in the head.

While driving the vehicle it cut off suddenly with no warning or check engine light came on. took the car to a dealership they tore the engine down and discovered chunks of metal in the oil pan and metal clogged the oil filter. they did not give me a cause for the metal being present. they said i would have to pay more money in labor to have them dig in to the engine to figure out what failed.

Hood. just came up while driving about 55 miles a hr scared wandering is this a recall no warning. lucky there was no one on the road at the time but hood hit the car bent it up bad only 42000 miles

Break light comes on while driving. stays on for 30secs and then shuts off. happens when going around a sharp curve, down hill, or stopping abruptly. no check engine light comes on and no codes found. i have researched and seen this has been an ongoing issue with 200s for quite some time now, and there has been no fix. break pads wear down at a much faster rate than normal. even after break system has been flushed. have not had an issue stopping the car, just the light comes on often. 2nd. rack and pinion has gone out causing the car to lose power steering in 1 direction only. in my instance, i was only able to turn left normally and it was extremely difficult to turn right. happened when i was parking the car and went to straighten up the wheel. had the car towed to the dealership to be fixed.

Air bag and seat belt recall but i have yet been notified to go for the replacement. i recall i signed up online to get notified but that hasn't happened.

I was driving and all of a sudden the car started making a loud whining noise and seemed to be downshifting and lurching by itself. it was not shifting properly and it seemed to be doing stuff by itself. i did not have control over what it was doing. i had to pull off the highway and called triple a and the car had to be towed. it was repaired and now 2 weeks later it again downshifted by itself out of the blue and started whining again. it has not been driven since.

Adjusted the electrical mirror then shortly after adjustment smoke started to roll out from under the buttons of the window controllers and melted them slightly (driver and passenger front window buttons) the vehicle was in motion and then stationary due to we had to exit the vehicle due to be overcome with smoke. we were turning off a highway to a residential street. we then was able to get back into the car when there was little smoke and continue 1/2 mile to the home were staying at. window's will not roll up or down now. due to the smoke, i am afraid to drive my vehicle back to michigan from wisconsin in a week. also, the front passenger seat belt does not lock onto the restraint lock. why did it not blow a fuse before it started smoking?

While sitting in the parked vehicle at a gas station, the headrest pop open banging my head against the back of the headrest causing my head to hurt for hours. unfortunately, i’ve been unable to fix this problem on my own.

My car only has 73,000 miles on it. i take excellent care of it. last week i the engine started to just turn off while at a stop. no warnings, no indicators that something was wrong. the car will turn back on when i put it in park and restart engine by turning the key. i have recently seen online that this has been an issue with a lot of 200's. i feel chrysler has sold a lot of people lemons. more importantly i'm concerned for my safety, the safety of my family, and safety of other i share the road with.

During driving in the rain the battery light comes on the steering wheel locks into place then after complete stop steering is back. the check engine light comes on and the thermostat rises to the maximum then that light comes on. then after 5min or so temp goes back down both engine and temp lights go off but battery light stays on until car is turned off. this only happens when it's heavily raining.

Takata recall last time i was driving on the freeway going 70 miles per hour and the vehicle suddenly lost power with a semi truck right behind me and i had to swerve off of the road to avoid being hit and nearly causing an accident i do not feel safe in this vehicle and i'm in fear for my life

The engine completely shuts off without warning when at an idle or slowing down to make a stop. it has done this now about 12 times within the last month. my car just made it to 53,000 miles and has always had regular oil changes and maintenance. so far, i have been able to put it in park and restart. i was taking my daughter to school yesterday and it stalled in the middle of the road and the engine died. the first time that it ever happened i put the car in reverse to back out of my driveway and it died three different times. no warnings or lights. i have taken it to a mechanic shop and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. they ran a diagnostic test and...nothing. the engine has died and stalled 3 times since being in the shop.

I was a front seat passenger in a chrysler 200 2013. we were on a city street going approximately 35mph. the passenger side headrest deployed without warning causing a violent jolt and injuries to myself. there was nothing that would have caused it to deploy. the road was smooth..no pot holes. nothing hit the car. speed was not a factor. weather was not a factor. it was sudden,loud and abrupt.*dt*jb*dt *tp

Vehicle stalls/shuts off while driving making it very difficult to stear and brake. i was drving at 70 milies per hour when it suddently shut off almost causing an accident.

Heat only comes out on the driver side of the vehicle. it comes out really cold in the passages. the heater core was replaced last year be the dealer and it’s doing it again. i was sitting a light and when it turned green i tried to go than it wouldn’t go than it jumped forward and it went. i got a little down the road than it slowed down and it was almost like driving in neutral wouldn’t pick up speed at all. it stopped moving again than it wouldn’t go at all the cops had to help me push it to the side of the road.

Tried to start my car and wouldn't start. i remote started my car with the key and it started right up. the car ran normal all the lights on dash lite up, radio was playing, air on everything seemed fine. then i put the key in the ignition and it shut right off before i could even turn the key to the on position. the red security light flashes on the dash by the speedometer. now the only way the car will start is if you remote start the car, unlock it and put key in ignition and turn to on position. but sometimes it still doesn't start that way either may have to try it a couple times. i need to figure out what is wrong with my car asap!!! i bought the car only 6 months ago from a used car dealership!!! please help!!!

I received the recall notice for my vehicle and took it to the dealer, vatland chrysler dodge in vero beach, fl, on 8/29/2017 who determined which modules needed replacement related to my recall (s61/nhtsa 16v-668). i am told by the dealer that the parts required are backlogged nationwide. it has been over 7 months since i initially received the recall notice. this issue is not being addressed in a timely manner. passengers in my vehicle continue to be at risk. when will the parts be available?

Just purchased my 2013 chrysler 200 on 01/20/2018 from a used car dealer pre owned with 76590 miles on it today is 3/13/2018 and i was driving down the road on a busy road and first my check engine light came on and then the car accelerated on its on and then the car warning lights came on blinking red and the other light steady yellow and the car stalled in traffic luckily i was able to pull over out of the road and not hit by another car this is a very serious issue and i urge you to please look at this matter this is not good someone could have been hurt not being able to control my car it is not fixed yet and i spent a lot of money to purchase this car so please adress as quickly as you can to this matter thanks.

I am always having electrical problems. the lights don't want to turn on. the air conditioner does not want to switch on. the fans don't want to turn on. it's always something with the electrical. the car will be in different motions and so this sometimes when i go to start it or sometimes when i am driving. it can end up being dangerous what if the electrical goes out while i am driving

My transmission has had nothing but problems shifting,racing rpms,banging and clunky plus the gears are searching. the software has been updated along with its recalls. because there is no code when present or engine light. chrysler will not call it not working. but they state its working fine because no codes or engine light. the dealer gave me a harx time with it as a trade in. the brakes have been an issue and they hear the noise byt state they are fine when in fact they dont always stop when pressing down. my front end and steering has been taken apart and replaced so many times . the front end scapes clunks still. i explained to both chrysler corp and arrigo dodge chrysler in west palm beach. im still having problems. the car feels like i lose control of the car. i have a bad car service records state all the repairs. and the dealer is no help when the car was bumber to bumber coverage . all they did was year down take apart which they have done shotty work. and ripped off me . i have no recourse than to be stuck with this so called dream car of mine. $30,000 investment down the tubes.

We have replaced the power steering pump twice thinking that was the problem for the hard steering. it turns out that it is the rack and pinion that is going or has gone out which leads to the hard steering problem. the hard steering happens when the vehicle is in motion and while turning. it is also hard to turn the steering when car is stationary.

I bought my chrysler 2013 3 1/2 years ago this year it started cutting off on me while driving i would be in my garage start the car up back it up june in reverse and the car will just shut off one time i was on the road driving and i just stopped i had to restart it

While driving at a rate of 50 mph, the hazard lights came on without touching the control to turn it on. when i touched the control, the lights would go off for a few seconds and return flashing. this continued to occur for the next 15 miles at which time, i pulled into a parking lot. when i turned the car off.. the hazard lights came on again and could not be cut off. other strange things that have occurred is the abs light coming on and then the car with traction streaks showing.

It was my first time purchasing a car. i thought i was going to a legit business, north american auto group. they are rip offs. they sold me a car with a crack windshield and told me i had to fix it myself because they was not making much off the car for them to fix it, they told me they was unable to give me an inspection sticker because they don’t do those, the brakes started to give out while i was driving and i went back to let them fix it. they said they do not do brakes and it’s not included in my warranty, that’s up to me to get changed on my own. opening and closing the door has left me with a dent on the passenger side. the tires are horrible. the struts needs to be fixed and i need a wheel alignment. all of these things were suppose to be fixed before i even purchased the car.

The defroster and heater only blow cold air, they no longer blow any warm or hot air, with the temperature controls on maximum heat. the heater core is blocked with sludge. when the car was manufactured, the coolant was mixed with a machining oil that is designed to plug any pinholes that develop in the radiator. over time, this additive causes sludge to form in the coolant. that sludge blocks the heater core. flushing the cooling system does no good. chrysler has been advising dealership service advisors to replace the radiator, heater core, oil cooler, and overflow tank to solve the problem. this is common on 2012, 2013, and 2014 chrysler 200's. the pictures i have attached show the sludge in the overflow tank that forms in the cooling system and blocks the heater core. the plugged heater core prevents the front windshield defroster from working, creating hazardous and dangerous blocked visibility with the front windshield fogging over, particularly during winter months. additionally, snow or ice precipitation buildup on the windshield can not be melted while the car is being operated.

12/22/2017 my front end started bouncing and shaking, on the freeway it got really bad i was scared and my grandsons got very upset and thought we we going to crash. i thought the engine would fall out the bottom, or my left front tire was going to fall off, also the brake lite comes on sometimes every 15 mins., now today spent all day trying to talk to any chrysler service person to call me back ! no one did! my car died last night no crank no start im stuck in sacramento at my daughters, i was to work 3:30 to midnight to night 01/15/2018 , really hope i don't lose my job ! went on youtube everyone had the same problem and cant fix...

Takata recall: on monday, november 13th, 2017, i set up a repair appointment for my 2013 chrysler 200 at a relatively new-named auto repair place called umanski (from out of tennessee) here in charlottesville, virginia, on route 29 north for thursday, november 16th, 2017, after receiving via u.s. mail "an important legal notice for owners of vehicles with takata airbag inflators" also on monday, november 13th, 2017. months before receiving this notice, i had received an "important safety recall notice in reference to the "occupant restraint controller" which i had placed in the glove compartment of my car to make an appointment at a later date (when personal monies were available) for the aforementioned repair; however, my attention was re-focused again on this "important safety recall notice" (which had been in my glove compartment for months and sent to me by fiat chrysler automobiles u.s. llc of fort myers, fla.). i received a 3rd notice (legal) from tk holdings incorporated., et al., debtors, p.o. box 3004, monroe, wisconsin, 53566-3004 on monday, november 13th, 2017 (the same day i made an appointment to have my car repaired at umanski). my very first notice came to me around the beginning of 2017 or the end of 2016 at which time i was required to go online to complete a form regarding this matter. so far as my brakes are concerned, the brake light comes on frequently for whatever the reason. i've had an incident where it seemed that my car was losing power while i was driving it on a highway.

I was notified of a safety recall and have been trying to schedule for the repair for 2-3 months now with no luck.

Bought care used from the dealer 9 months ago and at approx. 52,000 miles the check engine light and traction control light came on while driving. the car decelerated to 30mph and lost all throttle control. luckily i could pull over and get out of traffic and when i stopped the engine shuttered violently then cut off. this could have been fatal if it happened on the interstate. had to restart the car over a dozen times to get it home. finally got it to the shop and they have replace the throttle body and computer. still at the shop and the issue is still not resolved. the bill is almost $600 and i don't have a working car . after doing research i see this is the same issue that happens to this car. chrysler really needs to recall all of these cars and refund all money so we can buy a car that runs and will not potentially kill someone.

Car acts as if it does want to accelerate. makes a thumping jerking motion will driving. it'seems most noticeable while interstate driving hard hesitation trying time accelerate. since purchased in september 2012 always drives sluggish on city highway; thumping was noticeable-chased it up to learning a new vehicle. thumbing getting harder and frequent....like fast "thump jerk, thumb jerking, thump jerk"-. i always have plenty of gas. it happens with 87 or 89 octane.

I have had a brakes problem with this car. i reported it to chrysler and they said for me to take it to a dealer the dealer wanted to charge me a large amount of money to check it out. so i took it to my mechanic and had my brakes change. i still have a problem with the brakes light coming on. i also was rear ended and both airbags was deployed.there was no one in the passenger seat.i don't know why the passenger airbag came out.

The brake light comes on at random times while driving, park, stop signs, and on the freeway. my daughter have the same car year and model and she have the same problem. i reported it to chrysler and the refer me to a dealer in ontario. the dealer said that i needed brakes. i went to my mechanic and had both front and back brakes installed but the brake light still comes on.

The car keeps stalling in traffic, get an engine jump then stalls. chryslers techs can't even figure it out. also stalls on freeways and is going to get someone killed. from what i see it's happening in these cars from 2012 to 2015 models everywhere. i'm very sick of going to the dealer and paying hundreds of dollars because of course it's always something not covered under warranty, how convenient. then either right away or a month later the same issue occurs and get worse and worse. this needs to be addressed immediately.

Last night my electronic throttle control (etc) light came on. i made it home just fine and the light was only on for a few secs. this morning i turned the corner on a street my car wouldn't go over 20 mph. the etc light came on and stayed on. i was able to make it back home. i've been doing research and this seems to be a popular (not popular) problem. my car has approx. 78,000 miles. it has not been taken to the dealer yet.

I have to replace the throttle body, air filter& pcv valve at 74,516 miles. is this typical with this type of vehicle. the cost is 823.19 and not under warranty.

On the evening of may 3rd, 2016 i returned to my vehicle after work to find that the driver head restraint had been deployed for unknown reasons. earlier that day i went to the bank all was well the head restraint was completely intact. at approximately 5:05pm i returned to my vehicle to head home and noticed that i could not rest my head as i do on a daily basis on my drive home. my concerns are that if i were driving in traffic or on the freeway and it unexpectedly deployed potentially causing an accident or worse due to a chain reaction. i immediately contacted the chrysler recall center. filed a complaint, issued a case number and was told that someone would be contacting me to investigate with a possible resolution. i have not been contacted as of 5/9/2016. i also followed up on the case friday may 6th . the case number had not been assigned. i'm looking for a resolution as to why this happened unexpectedly and what if anything would be my options. if this has happened to other, this could potentially become a safety hazard.

Starting over 1 year ago, my car has pulled to the right at all times and more drastically at higher speeds. the steering wheel also starts vibrating and shaking when over 55 mph. this car has been to the dealership at least 10 times for alignments, new struts, new tie rods, new tires, and several other fixes. none of these repairs have fixed the problem, and some of these actually made it worse. i no longer feel safe driving this car and fear crashing due to the extreme pull to the right. i just picked it up from the dealership after they adjusted the cambers and aligned it to pull to the left to compensate the right pull, which did not fix the problem.

While driving my vehicle in the dark when headlights are on low beam there is no gradual falling off of the light. they light up the road for a few yards ahead and the light immediately ends. it is like there is a wall that stops the light abruptly, i feel very unsafe driving this car after dark and my husband does also. adjusting lights does not help it is the design. on oct 14, 2015 a deer ran into the side of my car because i was driving with low beams on i never saw her in the road.

I purchased a used chrysler 200 touring 2014, on 2/24/2015. the year make of the vehical is 2014 on the inside sticker, but the model # of the engine is 2013. the vehical was parked in the garage as, i turned the key to start the car the car engine began to make a knock, clunking sound and it hesitated to start. the engine sounded like it was about to break, or engine damage had occured. this happened on two occations within 6 months. in more than 5 occations driving on the freeway to speed up, or to change lanes the vechical accelerating is stuck and keeps acceleratimg in an upward rhythem. in addition, there is no control of the gas pedal during time the vehical is accelerating. i brought the car in to be checked at honda where i purchased the vehical, honda this day had the chrysler dealership do a diagnostic test on my chrysler touring 200, 2013 model. i was told that nothing was found wrong with the vehical, and no additional service needed. i have been doing research with safecar.gov reading all the complaints and recalls for the chrysler 200 touring 2013. i am shocked that they had not been more courteous, or helpful about the potential risk, and problems descriptions of the chrysler touring 200 2013. i was turned away just like all the other customers, but what if my car stalls on the freeway, than what? my car is a potential danger and i cannot afford to buy another car. i fear i will be a victum of the "lemon law."

My husband was driving in the fast lane on the expressway with out 3 grandchildren in the car and the engine just shut off...they all could have been killed had he not manage to coast the vehicle onto the side of the road...took a trip to take my granddaughter to college 2 hours away and the engine again shut off while driving...because of this malfunction i have to stop driving my car and this is outrageous because i am afraid something will happen to my family if we continue driving. this has happened to us at least 5 times and we have sit for at least 1/2 hour to 45 minutes before the car starts again.

I am writing for the first time of a deal with my 2013 chysler 200 bought in 8/2013. the gas mileage has been terrible to say the least. i went to do a trade in for a 2015 and was told by the car dealership chrysler in avondale, az that this car does not have a certain serial number and so is not tradeable with chrysler due to a drop in blue book value soon after i paid full purchase price at that time of $19,000. with all gap insurance etc. i paid $27,000 for this car. i want to know what the car has that the general public is not aware of and dropped the value down so low it is not even tradeable or buy back value is so low even chrysler won’t take it. i am so disappointed in the situation. i am a ford car person and i have given chrysler a chance for the last 8 eight years and was happy with chrysler up until this point where i am stuck with a 2013 car that is not tradeable with the very company that made it. i do not want to lose money nor does the bank who loaned me the money for it, want to lose on the transaction of this car. i will go back to buying fords asap if this issue is not resolved. i want the money paid back for this 2013 car and sent to the bank for payment. chrysler can send me a letter of where to return this car. that is only fair, since it is not tradeable at any time with chrysler. i will go to the media here in az immediately with this information and expect a phone call from the media. you may give this e-mail to the complaint department. i want to hear from the chrysler president himself how chrysler can do this to a loyal customer. this is consider a lemon car and chrysler needs to do something about selling lemons in the whole year of 2013.

From almost the beginning of owning this car it has made a noise in the left front driver's side. the steering wheel feels lose, like it could come apart. i had brake issues also. the dealer was able to find the brake noise, but not the noise in the left front driver's side. they say there is nothing they can detect. yet, my car continues to make this noise. now, i'm not a mechanic, but my car should not be making a noise if everything is alright. checked on youtube and many people with chrysler 200's, 2013's are having the same problem. they say their mechanics either cannot find the problem, or it's 1. steering column 2. outer tie rod end or sway bar end links 3. ball joints 4. bushings can be worn on control arms of sway bar or 4. tie rod. my dealer cannot find any of that wrong with my car, yet, i believe it is one of these problems. my car was purchased at moore, chrysler, jeep, subaru, at 8700 w. bell, road in glendale, arizona. i am a single lady, living on social security disability. my dad bought this car for me. i cannot afford to have all these problems fixed if the warranty runs out, and the dealer lets it. i need them to take responsibility and fix my car. *tr

Car drove perfectly fine when purchased new 18months.ago. but after having it for 3months. things started to go wrong. first incident was with the cruise control it has failed to shut off for me 3x. applying pressure to the brakes didn't help or solve the problem either. after multiple times of pressing the off button it shut off after putting the car in neutral. took it to car dealer ship & the computer was updated but no issues found. on many occasions my car has seemed to have shifting problems especially coming out of 1st gear. took it into the dealership & no issues found the mechanic said car seemed fine but to return if problem returned. the problem still comes and goes but i try to ignore it because the shifting issue didn't seem any worse. but now recently in the last couple months another problem is occurring my tire pressure is always off checking it almost daily. i brought my car in and purchased new tires. the problem with the tire pressure still exists along with it pulling bad to the right, & i'm able to feel shaking in the steering wheel at as low as 25mph, reaching speeds 50+ the shaking is only felt at times, continues to pull & feels like i don't have complete control of the car. i took my car in again a week ago to the tire center and i was told they could feel what i was feeling but couldn't find the issue. i requested a alignment but they also said that was unnecessary because the alignment was fine. the shaking and pulling is now getting much worse and today we picked up yet another problem. well stopped/parked car idles hard & feels as if its gonna stall out. a friend overlooked my car. he climbed underneath and had me apply a small about of pressure on the accelerator. said he a whistling/sputter sound like its hesitating. he felt the shaking in the steering wheel when the rpms where at 1 & parked. only approx. 32,000miles. *tr

Oct 2014 i remote started my car. my grandson was in the car, when i came outside i smelled a strong odor of gasoline. gas fumes was coming through the vents and gas was leaking, took to olathe dodge they supposedly fixed it. 3 fuel injectors and loose hose. jan 2014, same thing happened i was driving down the road this time a loud clang, strong gas fumes came through the vents and i parked and had it towed back to olathe dodge. they fixed again. i got my car back and took it 2 blocks and it was smoking blue/black smoke really bad, i took it back to olathe dodge. they called me 6 days later and said it was fixed, i took off work to pick it up got in the car the engine light was back on and could still smell gas. they kept the car and gave me rental and called back 7 days later. this time it was fixed. on feb 17, i was going to hospital to see my new grandson, i got off work started driving and the gas fumes were back in my car. i kept driving to the hospital with the window down about 2 inches because gas fumes coming through vents. i left my car at hospital and called olathe dodge. they said to bring it down to them. i drove it to olathe knowing that the fumes was coming through the vents. on feb 18th i went to dr. because my face was swollen and red. the dr. said that i was walking in the cold, which caused me to get wind burned. i work in doors. i called poison control to see what i can do. they said that i should not get back in that car until it is fixed because that is dangerous. this is the 6th time that they tried to fix it. everyone told me that this car is a lemon. i love my car and had high hopes that they would fix it. i have 3 grandbabies that ride with me in my car. what if this car catches on fire.. i would not be able to get my 1, 2, and 3 year old grand babies out of their carseats fast enough... god forbid ... please help me. *tr

After driving for a short amount of time ( 20-30 minutes) - when making turns or turning the steering wheel or going over speed bumps i start hearing a knocking / clunking noise coming from the left side of the car. the sound makes me very uneasy and it make you feel like the front end of the car is about to come apart. not sure what is causing this problem, but it is a problem, and you should not be hearing this sound what so ever in any car! there needs to be a recall because after looking up this issue online, it didn't take long to find that their are a lot of other chrysler owners experiencing the same problem! *tr

When i shift from 1 gear to the other there is a noise and a jerk. the rpm also goes up very high when i try to accelerate as if it is not able to shift gears. it won't shift until i stop accelerating. i took it to the dealer the 1st time and was told there is a recall for the issue and a flash was sent to the car's computer. i noticed the issue was not fixed almost immediately. i took back a 2nd time and told this is typical of this model and that there is nothing they can do. i started noticing this problem with less than 50,000 miles on the car. i can imagine the problems i would have later. then to be told there is nothing that can be done is discouraging. *tr

On october 28th, 2014 i dropped my car off at the dealership for repair with complaints of electrical issues. the alarm was performing with unpredictable tendencies and was not disarming in order to enter the car. after driving a rental for two weeks that came out of my pocket the dealership claimed that they could not duplicate the problem in order to fix it.i was forced to take the car back knowing that the problem was not fixed.the random electrical problems progressed and the car ignition began having serious issues. once the key was turned to €œoff €œ the car would restart and the indicator light would say €œkey in ignition€ although the key had been removed from the ignition. i would have to turn and hold the key to the €œon€ position for several seconds before the car would turn over. on december 15th, 2014 i attempted to put the key into the ignition and the engine did not turn over at all.i removed the key from the ignition and the engine began to make the sounds as if it was going to turn over at least 10 times while the key was out of the ignition. on january 15th, 2015 i received a call from the service rep at the dealership. he said that he was advised by my case manager at chrysler customer care to call and tell me that i had to come and pick up my car although the problem had not been resolved. the service rep said that they had replaced the tipm (totally integrated power module), the battery, and the clock that flickers yet the electrical issues repeated even after the replacement of the tipm. he continued to say that the chrysler engineers did not know how to fix the problem. this car is still within the formal lemon law rights period and i am asking chrysler for appropriate action in a timely manner. *tr

I was driving down the highway leaving work, i got up to roughly 55mph when my car just shut off while driving down the road. i was told by the dealership that the alternator failed without warning. they can not give me an explanation as to why a vehicle that is less than 2 years old and less than 30k miles suddenly stopped without warning. there is currently a recall issued by chrysler for this exact issue but my vehicle is not one of the ones covered under the recall according to chrysler. no check engine or check battery lights prior to the incident. at the time of incident nearly every light on my dash lit up and the vehicle just shut off, the speedometer went from 55 to 0 and i was luckily able to coast off of the highway without incident since i had just gotten on and was getting up to speed i had not left the right lane yet. had i been anywhere else on the highway this incident could have easily led to serious injury or death. i have spoken with the dealership and they claimed there is nothing they can do for me, i have also spoken with a lemon law attorney and was informed that since it did not end in serious injury or death that it must happen again before they can help me. i do not feel safe putting my wife or infant child in to a vehicle that just shut off at a speed of 55mph. *tr

I was driving and all of a sudden i came to a red light and the engine went to shaking really bad and it cut off then the engine light came on it blinked a couple of time so i went to park it the next morning had it put on a machine it read cylinder 2 misfire so i took it to chrysler dealership where they told me it just needed an software update which i clearly explained what the machine was reading from the code from the engine light now the car completely shut off and didn't not crank up keep trying heard a popping noise like something got caught in the fan and gasoline was spilling from the rear of the car 13 chrysler 200. *tr

Not long after purchasing my 2013 chrysler 200 i noticed that every few days i had to get air in my tire. when i had my very first service i mentioned to the service dept. they looked at the tires and put air in them. then it was the same every few days put air in tire. well on next service it was the same old thing nothing wrong put air in tires this just keeps going on. well when it was time to rotate tires then the problem got a little worse. had to go from every few days to every other days at next service got the same statement nothing wrong. now its got to the point i have to put air everyday and not just one tire but all of them. i just now got to 30,000 miles on my car. also they said and tried to talk me into getting nitrogen put in which cost money and if your on the road and your tire goes low you can't put air in a nitrogen tire. i don't know why the tires keep loosing air but this is darn ridiculous. also like another person reported quite some time ago my brakes make a terrible noise when backing up. *tr

I have not had one particular incident, but everyday squeaking instead. what started out as a very loud screeching sound is now a breaking squeal every time i brake. i have had my chrysler 200 convertible into the dealership 6 times for the same problem. the last time they said they can't fix it. obviously, this has been a problem for some time as i've investigated. if they knew this, why would you sell a car to someone? to me, this is a fraudulent act whereby they intentionally misrepresented this vehicle and sold it to me anyway. now they say chrysler is aware of the issue, but doesn't know how to resolve it. what an embarrassment to chrysler, not only that they can't resolve it, but every time i stop, it's an embarrassment to them. *tr

I am having an issue with my chrysler 200, i have 39540 miles on this vehicle, and my problem started on 11/11/14. as i was driving i could hear and feel a popping in my steering column. i was driving at 5 mph when i noticed it, i pulled over to check tires. it is really noticeable when making turns verses just driving straight. my son took it to dealership, and upon inspection, they informed me that the tie rods and rack and pinion are worn and have a lot of play. i purchased this vehicle new in july 2013 and should not be having a serious issues with steering mechanism, which they say is not covered under warranty. *tr

My wife was driving on the freeway at 65 mph when all of a sudden the active head restraint popped open and struck her in the back of the head causing head and neck pain. took to the dealership they said they have never seen anything like that before. *tr

When i first got my car i noticed it pulling to the right took it to the dealership and they charged me $85 for alignment and it still continued to do it took it back they said it was in the steering i can't remember the service man's exact wording. i was driving about 3 weeks ago i was on the freeway going about 60 miles an hr and i had a blow out on front passenger side thankfully i was able to pull over on shoulder safely. took the tire to our dealership and he said it was worn from the inside not just normal wear and tear. anyway we called chrysler and we asked them why didn't they have a recall on this steering problem they said they haven't had any complaints. this is very dangerous cause i have to hold tightly to my steering wheel to keep it from not going to to the right. plus i see there are others who are having the same problems with brakes squealing and the car jerking into gear please let me know what i can do about these problems. my car has just turned a year old. thank you. *tr

A loud clunking noise, which sounds like it is coming from the left driver side wheel. the noise has gotten much worse over the last month. i can hear it inside the car, and i can feel it in the steering wheel.. it does it all the time, weather i am turning, or driving straight.. bumpy or smooth roads. *tr

At night 8 pm driving south on i-4 to tampa in rainstorm. heavy traffic with rain and water off other cars and trucks. traffic speed 60 mph. headlights stopped working. repeatedly turned headlights on and off to try to get them on again. most of the time you could see the parking lights go on but not the headlights. twice the headlights flashed on for less than 1/4 second before turning off. after driving 10 miles to the nearest exit and exited i-4 and stopped the car. at this time it was only drizzling and no spray from other cars or trucks. turned the headlights off again and on and this time they stayed on for the last 50 miles where we had only drizzle and no spray from any cars or trucks. drove the car another 200 miles but never in anything but mild drizzle but always in the daylight but could not tell any malfunction. will return to enterprise today and report incident to them. *tr

Bought my 2013 chrysler 200 brand new from rameys auto.it had 50 miles on the odometer when we purchased it on may 27,2013,we have had issues w/ the car acting up going up hills & in level areas on the 4 lanes even sometimes when you stop at a red light it acts like it wants to stall and quit.i took it to the auto dealership after i called & complained they rode the car claimed nothing wrong w/ it, at times it would be worse than others, ended up taking this car for two appts. & a mile down the road it happened again majorly so my husband turned around went back to the dealership& ask for a mechanic to ride with us,he rode w/ my husband it acted up& the mechanic said we put it on computer,nothing showed up he said, well what happens if it quits on me& my children(ages 4 and 8 at the time)and someone hits& kills us he said leave your air condition down low its probably affecting the power on the engine& i said its the middle of summer its hot& there's no way i can ride around w/ the windows down w/ no air conditioner w/ two small children and he said there was nothing he could do because it wasn't showing up on computer, he told us that we needed to keep a notebook of everytime it acted up& have whoever was w/us to sign& date it so we have i found a recall on this car& ask the dealership about it said it had nothing to do w/ my car that my car was made after the recall came along he said the car was made in jan.2013 so it didn't affect it.im still having issues w/ this as we speak,seems as if you turn the air conditioner on it gets worse,but acts up going up smalls hills on the 4 lane(jerking,and scares me its going to stall out.we have been concerned& still are concerned about this issue w/ the way the car acts.we have considered trading it in recently for something else due to the fact we cant get the problem resolved nor can anyone tell us whats going on w/ the car. *tr

On the drivers side headlight at night after 75 feet their is a black shadow. leaving you blind when driving thru streets and hillside at night. traveling at 75 mph on highway leaves no time to stop. have taken into dealer and told that chrysler says this is normal will not fix even though they feel it is a hazard. talked with other owner they also say it is a problem for them and have quit driving at night. have a printout from chrysler stating the above. *tr

We drive a 2013 chrysler 200, 3.6l v6. we have 12,500 miles on the car. this month we are experiencing a stalling problem at slow speeds when getting ready to stop. i took the car on the highway to see if the problem existed at high speeds. i set the cruise control and it died two times in ten minutes. the car started back up with no problems. i checked on line to see if there were any recalls on my 200. there is an nhtsa campaign number 13v043000 (feb 06,2013) that is categorized as fuel system, gasoline. this may be the issue but the chrysler dealer did not acknowledge this as a recall for my vehicle. this recall is for a gas tank that has a broken control valve in the fuel tank assembly. i think that my problem with the car could be one that was discovered two years ago on 2011 chrysler 200 with 3.6l v6 engines. my car has shut off when idling or coming to a stop without a warning sign and no dash indicator light. i turned the key to off and restarted the engine. it started right away and i believe that it let me start it while it was still in drive. my car has stalled (4) times in the last week. the nhtsa opened an investigation into stalling problems on june 22, 2012. it covered an estimated 87,288 vehicles. chrysler announced they had identified a powertrain control module (pcm) defect in their 3.6l engines. the pcm was initiating a purge monitor check while the engine was at idle or slowing down. the purge resulted in an "overly rich vapor condition that caused the engine to stall". chrysler developed a software patch which reprograms the pcm. the patch was released as part of a "customer satisfaction program" in september 2012. the nhtsa closed the investigation and did not force chrysler to issue a recall because chrysler classified the problem as "low risk". *tr

I was involved in an accident on sunday june 8, 2014. my son and i were crossing at an intersection after stopping at a flashing red light half way through the intersection we were hit by an suv moving at a high rate of speed. the vehicle struck us in the front passenger door at full speed knocking us all the way across the intersection and over the curb before we came to a stop at no point during the crash did the side curtain airbags deploy. my son was driving and i was in the passenger seat both of us ended up in the emergency room. him for his upper back and me for my lower back and my leg where the door was bent in and slammed into my leg. *tr

2013 chrysler 200 convertible was bought new and a few weeks after purchase, this cars transmission got stuck in 1st and would not shift...this is an automatic transmission...took it in and was told it was fixed...long story short...this same problem has occurred 7 times...the dealership...glen e. thomas in signal hill, ca. did all they could to repair the car and were always very nice and accommodating. this is a factory problem and it was just in again a 7th time in may 2014...it happens on the freeway and my wife refuses to drive the car anymore...i have a new car, not even a year old and less that 6000 miles and cannot get the transmission to work correctly...now the driver side door and window rattles and is very annoying...car has been in 2 times for that...love the car but it is not working properly and is very stressful and disturbing to me and my wife because we are always nervous that the problem could happen again and leave us in danger. *tr

This car has a bad blind spots in it, when your changing lanes you have better make sure that you look all the way around over your left shoulder before changing lanes or you will hit the car that's beside you, i could not see the car in the next lane and i put my turn signals on and got half way over and their was a car in the lane next to me and the car hit me on the front panel and the door, they charge me with improper lane change and i couldn't see this car in my mirror, when you back up in this car you had better be careful cannot see well out of the car to back up, using your mirrors you still cannot see everything.maybe the mirrors should be one size bigger, so you can see more of the road beside you. this cost me 2points on my license, hadn't had a ticket in 30 years, cost me 155.00 and 1,100.00 in damage to the car. this needs to be look into, very poor design on this . i understand their are recalls on this car, but i haven't gotton anything from the dealer yet and a problem with the engine, it will shut down when driving, causing loss of control of the car; *tr

I purchased this vehicle 11/2012. it is 2013 200s with the v6 engine. i've complained about the torque pull on both take-off and acceleration at highway speeds. it drifts to the right in a short driving distance and the steering wheel shakes at different speeds. i've returned it to the dealer for repairs on four different occasions only to have them say nothing is wrong. the problem began at about 2000 miles, it now has 10,500 miles and the problem continues. once the warranty expires the problem will be found and i will have to pay to fix it. i do know the torque pull issue is because of the drive line design, the v6 should have a limited slip unit, they can't do anything about that now. the other issues they can, but won't because it costs money. chrysler got my money but never again. i'm going elsewhere to purchase my next vehicle. *tr

The car stalls when slowing down for a stop sign or when taking of from a stop. at one point it stall going about 20mpg. this is really unsafe, with no signs it just stalls. *tr

This vehicle does not drive properly. the rpms run high and many times does not shift out of 5 gear while driving at high speeds. i have complained about this since i bought the vehicle, however have been told "that is how this car drives", "it is ok to red line your car". after several complaints the dealership gm finally agreed there was something wrong and the "flashed" my car. after that i was getting 30 mpg highway and it was shifting without me having to take my foot of the gas. less then 5,000 miles later it is back to the way it was. dealership now says it is fine, yet i am averaging on the interstate 22 - 25 mpgs. i am so frustrated with the service i am receiving. *tr

I bought this car september 14 2013. with in a week it was in the shop due to alignment issues and other cosmetic issues, fixed cosmetic issues and did an alignmet on the car with in 4 days the alignment went out again was back in the shop again and underwent another alignment had the car back for about 4 days again alignment was off again and during a drive to michigan the floor got hot. the next day the floor got hot again and the car shut off. i had to take it to the shop again. after another 5 days the alignment was out again. they but it on the road force and the alignment was fixed. now my car shakes, the engineer at chrysler said its the tires, replaced tired and it still shakes. this car is unsafe for my family and is a nightmare on trying to get them to get me a new car. thank you for listening.

We test drove a different car than the one we took delivery on and it seemed fine. we took delivery on this vehicle and have trouble since we drove it off the lot. when starting from a slow roll or a dead stop when you accelerate it violently pulled to the right. we returned this car and it was serviced. they did an alignment and checked tire pressure. it was improved but still pulled. secondly when driving on a less than perfect road the driver continually feels like a loss of control could happen at any time not to mention driving in windy conditions or the snow here in michigan. recently we had the vehicle back to a local dealer and was told the car has torque pull and it's normal. i asked about the wondering all over the road and the service rep said the service tech didn't notice anything wrong. note the road it was drove on is less than five old concrete. this vehicle requires two hands all the time. we feel as if there is a problem with this model chrysler 2013 200 and is not being addressed by chrysler. i have looked in several forums and have read about several other owners having the same trouble. any assistance in resolving this problem would be great. *tr

On 10/25/2013, while backing the vehicle from the parking space, the engine surged in reverse and it was necessary to push on the brake to stop the car from surging in reverse, this is without acceleration. stopped the car, placed in park and turned car off. turned car back on and the surging in reverse stopped. subsequently, on the way home i stopped at a stop light, and the car surged again, and i had to press the brake all the way to the floor to stop the vehicle from going forward. pulled off the side of the road when the stop light turned green, turned the car off again, and the problem stopped again. took it straight to the dealership where it was purchased and made an appointment for 10/28/2013 to have the problem studied. the service maintenance had a tsb 18-029-13 that we were not made aware of involving power train issues with the 2013 chrysler 200. dealership stated they updated pcm trans flash and the problem should now be resolved. will wait and see if this is the case. the vehicle has 5,157 miles and was purchased 07/22/2013. *tr

Vehicle would not allow cruise control to be set. after several attempts, cruise control engaged, but would not allow me to manually operate gas pedal and braking function. it took several braking attempts to disengage cruise control. pulled over and shut vehicle off, restarted and reentered highway then vehicle transmission would not seem to shift into gears and "roared" allowing tachometer to reach into high 5,500+ range. pulled over again, shut vehicle off. restarted vehicle, reentered highway and it operated sufficiently to get to dealer. after dealer did diagnostic, they discovered speed control switch was faulty and replaced immediately. car now operates properly since switch replacement and have had no further problem. also, transmission now shifts at proper levels and gas mileage has returned to original higher level. *tr

While driving on an unlit 2 lane road i experienced ( the first of several instances) the most dangerous automobile lighting conditions of my 50 years of driving. trust me this is scary! the headlights have a shutter system for normal and bright headlight control that is so bad i felt the need to pull off of the road to consider continuing my travel. when the headlights are set to dim it is like driving in a dark tunnel with visibility of only the immediate 20 feet in front of the car with no visibility at all of anything to the side. nothing can be seen above about 5 feet of the road. when one encounters a turn in the road the driver is unable to see beyond the curve. i beg you to investigate this problem and force chrysler to replace the shutter system before someone is killed. please send someone from your organization out to drive one of these automobiles on a dark night on a road with no street lights. i dare them to do it more then once. thank you. *tr

Malfunction light came on during date of purchase. tech said that it was due to the battery being jump started. light came on again, and code came back as smoke signal...i was told that the smoke test passed. took car to another dealership. they kept the car for five days and found the following errors: seal for the trans filer missing, leaking esim. the problems were stated as fixed. however to date, hot oil message is coming on. also the car is cutting off shortly after engine is started. car rattles when at a stop light and then shuts off. *js

The headlights on the 2013 chrysler 200 lx z are so bad that you can not see anything at night. their is only one blub for high and low beam. all the light does is drop a piece of plastic over hilf of the headlight to make it low beam, which you can't see anything be on 15 feet ahead of you, and high beam isn't any better. i've tryed to get help from chrysler about this problem, they know it's there but nothing can be done about it. all you have to do is go on line and see where alot of chrysler 200 owners are saying the same thing. i live in east tenn. and one day i took a trip over the mountains, i started home after dark and had to really tailgate a car ahead of me to stay in the road, and road signs were not seen at all, i hope other owners of chrysler 200's are doing what i doing to get this problem fixed before alot of people really get hurt. thank you for letting me have my say.

In december of 2012 - i purchased the 2013 - 200 chrysler 4dr v6. at about 3400 miles on odometer - it began with engine light off/on (have photo) but dealer cannot find issue nor reproduce, along with a thump/jolt when shifting gears, when driving between 10 - 40 mph. i have been to the dealer and had chrysler representative ride along and the thump occurred on 3 occasions within 15 min test drive. chrysler rep stated "this is a normal experience with chrysler autos" dealer but mopar additive in transmission to "help the gears shift smoother" it did for short while and then the thump started again. now at about 9000 miles on the auto and a week in the shop for diagnostics, thumping as shifting gears at times seem as if it might stall-out. dealer offers a trade-out but not able to honor that offer either after three weeks of negotiation. big disappointment with 200 chrysler - big $20,600.00 mistake - dealer only suggestion is to keep bringing the auto back? four trips to the dealers-shop they still are not able to resolve the engine light, nor transmission issue with thump/jolting when shifting gears??? a big vote of no confidence for 200 chrysler & planet dodge chrysler jeep who has a defective transmission thump/jolt when shifting gears at random times. i am fearful this will cost a big problem in near future. *tt

This vehicle has "shutter" headlights which make it unsafe to drive this vehicle at night. the seeing distance is very low. when high beams are on, they do not shine down the road but to the trees. oncoming traffic does not even notice high beams are in use. i have spoken to the dealer and to chrysler and have been told that is how they are made and nothing can be done. i have read several other complaints / concerns on the same issue, and ram trucks are being recalled due to the same issue. *tr

I bought my vehicle in may 2013. so far i had to make 3 trips to the dealership for check engine light. first, i was told it was the fuel cap, it was replaced. second, i was told it was the fuel cap/system again. third, i'm assuming it was for the same thing again, but this time i wasn't told anything. now my check engine light is on again. an again, it's probably gonna be the same thing again. *tr

I started the 2013 chrysler 200 and shifted the transmission into "drive". with my foot still on the brake pedal, i checked the mileage on our new car and it read 139 miles. i could feel the transmission engage then i felt what seemed to be a second engagement before i took my foot off the brake. as soon as i began driving i noticed the vehicle was not shifting out of first (1st) gear. i stopped the car and shifted through park, neutral and manual in an attempt to free up the transmission but when i started driving again it still would not transition out of first (1st) gear even when put in the manual shift mode. i drove it directly to the dealer without turning off the vehicle, and after a test drive they confirmed that it was not shifting but stated they could not find a code indicating any problem. they restarted the vehicle and it began to function normally again. the dealer said there was nothing they could do, and to bring it back if it happened again. *tr

I bought my 200 in december 2012. starting in january, the car idles very strangely. when i start the car the engine rattles as if it does not want to start. the brakes have always squeaked as if they need to be replaced and when i asked the dealership, i was told that this is normal and every car squeaks. lastly, it is difficult to drive during the evening time because of the low lighting. i do not believe i will ever by chrysler again because the car runs as if it 60,000 miles old. i am afraid it is going to break down any moment. i wish i would have bought the honda accord. *tr

I have been researching complaints on my brand-new 2013 chrysler 200 limited sport; it seems that there is some kind of "shutter" which limits the forward visibility of the low-beams. as a result, any traveling at the posted speed limit, i.e. above 35 mph, at night, you are struggling to see, and "overdriving" the headlights. forget about when you are in traffic, with cars approaching, quite literally, you cannot see 40 yards. if a pedestrian darts out, you will not be able to see well enough to react. in my area, there are a great many deer; if i cannot let cars around me, so i am able to use my high beams, i will not be able to see in time. i am very concerned about this issue. even with the equipped driving lamps on, you still cannot see further. the driving lamps spread to the sides, but not even as far as half of the headlamp distance. the car is wonderful otherwise; but i am truly scared to drive at night with it. i have 20/20 vision with above average night vision, and i still have difficulty; my wife cannot drive my vehicle, and will not at night. *tr

I have a 2013 chrysler 200 that was purchased in 11/12, it has 2810 miles on it and is falling apart. i took in to the shop because the brakes were squealing and there was a rubbing sound in the front end. the brakes were replaced and the rotors were scuffed and now the rack n pinion will need to be replaced on tuesday. the car sounds as if it has 300,000 miles instead of less than 3000. the tappets are rattling when it idles at a stop light and the transmission feels like it slams from 2nd to 3rd. this just started when i was returning home from having it in the shop. i will never purchase another chrysler product and when this one is paid for in 2015 i will get trade it because the car is not safe, in my opinion. i had planned on giving it to my son but i do not wish him to be hurt in an unsafe vehicle that had mechanical when it had less than 3000 miles on it. i am not reporting the service department because they did listen to me and fixed some of the issues with parts they had in stock, but had to order the rack n pinion as to replace it on tuesday. i feel these are serious issues that should be addressed before a car owner is hurt or killed. i will be contacting someone possibly the highway safety and transportation board about these issues so that a recall can be issued or it can be noted and kept on file for future problems. *tr

Happens at random while driving the car will go out of gear as if in neutral (automatic trans vehicle ) then go back in gear jerking the whole car sometimes even making the wheels spin . this has all happened while the car is moving both street and highway , turning and decelerating.

I left work and pulled of the parking lot. i could not get above 40 mph. i felt like i was stuck in 1st gear. went straight to the dealership. explained my problem. made an appointment. when i went to leave, the car was fine. i called them and they said i might need an update for the hard drive. i went and had that done. it was fine for 3 weeks. and then the same thing happened. i put the car in park. then turned the car off. then started the car and then it was fine. *tr
