2012 FORD Mustang

I own a 2012 Ford Mustang and recently had problems with the electronic throttle control. It was the exact same issue as outlined in Ford\'s Customer Satisfaction Program 16B23 (https://ford.oemdtc.com/2670/16b23-electronic-throttle-body-replacement-2011-2012-ford-lincoln/5). I have a 2012 3.7L V6 mustang that I believe should have fallen under this program. I never received any mail or email notifying me of this program, although I had lived at the same address for as long as I had owned the car and previously received an airbag recall notice, so I know Ford has my address. I was also at my dealer for service appointments (the same dealer where I bought the car) during the program time period and they never notified me either. Long story short, I just had to pay a little over $400 to have my local ford dealer replace the throttle body. I asked about this program and was told because it was outside of the program end date they couldn\'t do anything. My question is, why didn\'t Ford contact me about this program if my car was covered? If my car wasn\'t covered, how did Ford distinguish between which cars were worthy of being in the program and which weren\'t? This was a huge safety issue for me as the car randomly lost power on multiple occasions. One time I was doing 50 mph on the highway with alot of traffic around me. Luckily there was an open median I could coast into, but I may not have been as fortunate as others who have had this problem. I do not believe Ford\'s Customer Satisfaction Program 16B23 which was only in effect for a year was adequate to address this safety hazard. I also do not believe that Ford did their due diligence to notify owners of this program and the associated safety concern.

Car stalls and has stalled in highway traffic (65MPH). The problem is the Electronic Throttle Body (ETB). Needed to be replaced. Ford initially could not diagnose it correctly and said the problem was the battery cable…..not the problem. Car experienced further stalls in highway traffic. The real issue (ETB) was diagnosed by me….and this component was replaced. The car appears to be working fine, but this is an issue Ford needs to get out ahead of. Even their service departments have difficiulty diagnosing the problem. This is a safety issue…a car stalling at high speeds.

Paint bubbling under hood. Ford dealer told me it was corrosion caused by metal particles on the aluminum hood before being painted at the factory. Ford is aware of the issue but will not cover it under the 60 month unlimited mileage warranty.

The power window on passenger side will sometimes go down by itself or won’t stay up when button is pushed it goes up and then comes back down
The paint is peeling off the hood – I was told when I purchased the ford factory extended warranty everything was covered through 60K miles, apparently not the paint.

The leading edge of the hood is showing signs of corrosion underneath the paint. Manufacturer will not cover this defect past the original mileage warranty.

I went to the dealer’s body shop to get an estimate on repair and was then told that the problem was due to problems with the aluminum/iron contamination during the car assembly and that a new paint job would only be a Band-Aid. Brought problem to dealer and was told they would document and send to Ford for resolution … 3 months later I contacted the dealer, and nothing had been done. On the 2nd visit, they documented the problem and said it would be submitted to Ford. The result was that Ford denied the claim because it was beyond the 3 year term. When I researched the aluminum corrosion issue I found that sending a complaint to Ford Customer Service might elevate the claim, I sent a message to Deysha at Ford. She was very nice and sent me the contact info for my area’s Ford Customer Service representative, Susan. She let me know she was checking into the problem but that the only real solution is to replace the hood. When I heard back, she informed me that: “the cost to replace the hood of your Mustang would come to approximately $2,483.32. I can assist with 50% of this repair but not to exceed $1,241.66 in the unlikely event that additional repairs are needed. I have contacted Curtis at Apple Ford and advised him of my offer. I can honor this offer for up to 30 days from today.” I cannot afford to put out money to fix this and feel that a problem originating in the assembly plant, which has been well documented, should not be covered completely by Ford. If this were a problem with the mechanics of the car, it would have been fully covered.

Aluminum hood and back panel oxidation, Ford refuse to repair.

The rear sway bar was replaced under warrenty. The front of the hood is blistering. Ford has issued as service bulletin but is reluctant to fix. This is a known problem and a class action law suit has been filed.

Paint blistering on hood of car. Mustang was bought new back in March 2013 . Due to the miles I have to drive to and from work, I have surpassed the 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty since I now have over 45,000 on the car. Noticed when washing the car on Jan. 26th that the paint on the hood both on top and underneath was blistered and feels like it’s corroded under the paint. I searched the internet to see if anyone else had mentioned the same issue and I see that there are multiple listings. Called a Ford dealer in Tampa to speak to someone in the body shop and asked them if this is covered under the corrosion wanrranty and he laughed and said they always file under the bumper to bumper. I explained that I have 45K on the car and he said well it’s not going to be covered then. So I said you’re telling me that Ford knows they have an issue and they won’t take care of this, so I’m screwed and his response was “well basically yeah”. NICE GOING FORD….. Through research I found that Ford put out a technical service bulletin to their dealers telling them about this issue and giving service tips. I will not buy another Ford product after this. You know your procedure is flawed yet you ignore customer complaints and don’t change your manufacturing process so this won’t happen again?

Ias i was driving on the highway and let off the gas, the transmission downshifted suddenly to a lower gear causing the engine to rev up to 4000 rpm.

2012 ford mustang transmission failure. at 61,499 the vehicle at a stop entering the roadway the vehicle lurched after a hard slam in the transmission the rpms went crazy and the vehicle slowly rolled into the roadway. the service wrench light up and the vehicle would only go 20 mph. towed to dealer and told the repair would cost $5600 - $5900. service did not notify us of the service recalls. warranty ended at 60,000.

Ford refusing to accept recall for car; car has issue with transmission lead frame. the car will be driving and will "hard shift" randomly. the speedometer goes crazy and i have to slow down or turn off the car for it to go away. recall exists for my models transmission lead frame ( i believe i meet all the requirements ) issued in april 2016, but it is not appearing for the vin of the vehicle. if i do not meet the requirements it should be extended for my car.

2012 mustang only has 35,000 miles and water pump went out. dealer states it is not covered under power train warranty! luckily it went out while parked in the garage at home and not on a trip! antifreeze was every where when i went to get in the car the next morning. thankfully i saw it before our pets did!

Takata recall: received recall mar2016. contacted ford dealer regarding fix. i asked him 1. is the car safe to drive. his answer was the nhtsa said it was cleared to drive. 2. is it ok to have a passenger in the affected seat. same answer as in #1. 3. when will the part become available? no clue. he actually said it could be years since takata was bankrupt and they were looking for other manufacturers to make the part. the nhtsa website states recalls are issued when equipment creates an unreasonable safety risk or fails to meet minimum safety standards. since the ford dealer stated that the nhtsa cleared vehicles under this recall as 'safe to drive', could i get it in writing that my vehicle is safe to drive? i also live in florida where the 50% increase in probability exists due to temp and humidity. also, could you please explain why only the passenger side airbag is subject to exploding and not the drivers side.

At wide open throttle the transmission will not allow a gear change from first to second if the rpm is grater than 6000 rpm. the clutch peddle releases at the floor. after the engine has slowed the clutch returns to normal and the car can now be shifted into second. it may be caused by trough out bearing or spring tension on the clutch its self. i have had this problem since i bought the car 3 months ago. the car only has 46000 miles on it. i have read other people have had the same common problem.

Throttle body malfunction - causes loss of power while driving. acts as though you took your foot off the gas pedal. engine will not rev above idle speed. check-engine light comes on. if you stop, turn off the car, and re-start, it will be ok for a while. it happened to me twice in 2 weeks. part was replaced, but the new part failed again in 16 months. had that replaced this week. (may '17). i am aware of ford customer satisfaction program 16b23, but the dealer said my vin was not one of the affected vehicles. i beg to differ.

Front hood has paint peeling issue within 2 years of purchase. auto trans doesn't shift properly in at least 1 of the first 3 gears. it bucks when cold in winter weather until car warms for at least 30 minutes.. ford has had the car on 3 occasions without fixing the issue. they replaced the first 3 solenoids in trans without success. purchased new. these 2 issues remain a big problem. on another note, interior cabin flooded due to rain entering the cowl from a design flaw. dealership detached a hose.

While driving the car lost power and would not respond to pushing the accelerator pedal. the wrench light illuminated and the panel and the engine dropped to a rough idle. i had to activate my flashers and coast into a parking lot. turned off the motor and restarted the car. operated normally until i accelerated out of the parking lot. same condition happen again and i had to activate flashers and turn off the motor and restart the car again while stuck in the road. operated normally again and made it home. ran a code scanner on the car and it reported a problem with throttle: p2111 ford throttle actuator control system – stuck open.

I was driving to work one early morning when all of a sudden my steering wheel froze and couldn't steer my car and almost crashed on the freeway. my 2012 mustang v6 has electric power steering. there is something wrong with the power steering and can kill someone.

The fan blower motor 2p connector is damage. mechanic indicate signs of melting and burning on the main harshness which relays the fan, and ac compressor. also intense chipping of paint on left front quarter panel.

Takata recall: received a recall letter from ford motor company july 2015 and another july 2016. contacted local ford dealer concerning recall 2 months ago to have airbag inflator replaced. as of this date (9/2/2016) have received no word regarding part's arrival (dealership assured me they would call when part arrived). please note that it has been over 1 year since receiving 1st recall letter and nearly 8 weeks and pending that part still has not come in.

You should know that the 2012 mustang has a defective part called a throttle body sensor. ford is aware it is defective because they were replacing this part free of charge prior to january 2015. currently it is not under a safety recall but it most certainly should be. when you drive a car with this defect your can an accelerate, or decelerate, at its own will. it does not respond to the commands the driver gives. it just suddenly slows or speeds up as it likes. if you have not experienced this it may be hard to understand how unsafe this can be. it is not nan experience i recommend to anyone. ford does not consider this a problem, but i do not feel safe in my car as a result. try tooling along i-95 at 65 miles per hour and having your car suddenly slow and shudder almost to a stop...fun times. this defect creates an unsafe driving condition that 100% unacceptable and you really should do something about it before someone, (like me) gets killed. i am sure someone has already had accidents because of this issue.

I got a letter on an important safety recall, this was in july i came down an spoke with michael at the ford company on sage rd. in memphis tn. i have been waiting for him to cal me back once he order the part #15s21/ nhtsa recall 15v-319, it"s been a month now

On august 1, 2016, at approximately 7:30 p.m., i was driving south on u.s, highway 1 (y,s, highway 2 is a 3-lane road). suddenly, my vehicle lost the poser to accelerate. i was panicked, as there was traffic behind me and to my left side. i could do nothing to stop the loss of acceleration. fortunately, my friend as following me and was immediately aware that i was having a problem. my friend immediately put on his emergency flashers; as i slowed, i was able to pull off to the side and coast into a filling station. at this time, i noticed two things; the car ran roughly at a very slow speed and a wrench symbol appeared on the dash. i was able to pull to a safe location on the filling station lot. my friend searched for the symbol in the owner's manual which indicated there was a throttle control problem and i should contact my dealer immediately. at this time, i called aaa and was advised that a tow truck would be there in approximately an hour and a half. when the tow truck arrived, i completed the paperwork and the car was take to paradise ford where i purchased it in 2012. the following morning, ford called me and diagnosed it as a defective throttle body assembly and replaced it. some research indicated that a tsb had been issued to ford dealers about the malfunction of this item. because in my case, this was an obvious safety issue, i feel ford should have notified me and given me the opportunity to have it replaced under warranty. as a result of this, i was charged $621 for the repair. to reiterate, the main issue here is that in an unsafe situation due to, what i perceive, as the ford dealer's negligence.

Vehicle lost all power steering at highway speeds. vehicle also made clunking sounds while turning. had to replace epas steering assembly at my own cost $1656. unsafe and unproven design. electrical connectors for epas are mounted low so road grime/rain penetrate into the connector causing malfunction.

I have called several ford dealerships to have my takata air bag recall service and they all say there are no parts and i have to wait for months to get an air bag part. when i call the national ford customer service line, i got through the phone tree and chose takata air bag which hung up on me after 5 minutes of dead air. this is unacceptable behavior from an auto manufacturer with a recall ongoing.

When accelerating from a traffic light engine just stops,a wrench light comes on. after a few seconds will start again,few min.later engine light comes on.few min. will start again. on i-95 was cruising about 70mph and it also did this.almost rearended.

Takata my car has different manufacturing issues including the convertible roofing it does openly by itself, i got scared and chocked the first time it happened, also the transmission seemed to sent a lower speed to the motor. airbag didn't explode in a crash. driving is when it happens. *tr

Noise in the back suspension- driving on normal pavement makes continued sound. have been told bushings have gone bad. current miles 43000 miles. is this a recall?

Same as everyone i know high rev lockout, can’t shift past 7krpms clutch pedal sticks to the floor. gears are rough to get into normal. will hear loud clunking when changing gears sometimes. car has 35k miles i bought it with 17k miles and the issue has always been there. this needs to be addressed this could cause transmission failure and accidents if it fails on highways.

I was driving and pulled over because my back was being burned. my driver's seat caught fire due to heated seats malfunction. fortunately smothering the fire didn't require help from the fire department. i called marcotte ford. they told me it would cost $85.00 just to look at it. i called the ford corporation. ford refuses to take accountability. the least they could do, is disable the button so there isn't risk of starting another fire.*dt consumer stated seat coils short circuited and the damage is inside and out. consumer paid over $300.00 for after market solution.*jb

The transmission downgears causing a loss of power while in motion. it occurs at low speed and at high speed. alarming when traveling on an expressway at 55 mph.

Very audible thumping noise in suspension, either front or back (not sure), at slow speed, just pulling out of the driveway, or parking, driving and going over minor bumps on the street. vehicle is babied, only has 24,000 miles, original owner. live in the se part of the country. is there a recall for this problem? *tr

Since i've bought this vehicle brand new i have had random issues with the car. first i've experienced a huge issue with the transmission, it makes a vibrating/shaking problem while driving on any street any speed. i have operated manual transmissions before and have never ran across this. no matter what gear or what condition it consistently does this. ford dealer was to no help at all. at times while driving the vehicle will start to uncontrollably swerve and the traction control light starts blinking, this issue is unknown to me why this happens and has almost put me in an accident. secondly, the entire ignition tumbler just popped out. i can pull the ignition out of the steering column.

The paint on the hood starting at the seam on the underside started bubbling like it was rusting underneath and has spread up & around on the top of the hood. the paint is now starting to crack and fall off. i have taken it to ford dealership collision center and to an independent collision center and both advised the hood needs to be replaced and painted. both advised this is a known issue and appears to be some type of contamination that occurs when the seam is sealed. the quotes for this repair are for $3400 & $3300. while a 2012, our mustang has been kept under a cover and only has 24,000 miles on it.

While driving the car shifts down into first gear on its own while the dash goes blank and the speedometer stops working. it will also show a wrench light at times.

Car shakes when coasting between. 2k rpms and 3k rpms car starts to hesitate and only way to stop the shaking is step opn clutch and shift to another gear or step on the gas pedal and after a couple of seconds it will begin to accelerate and shake more aggressively before returning to normal operation without shaking which would be very dangerous if i were to try to match speed while entering a free way or avoiding a potential accident.

I went to get a diagnostic in my car at the ford dealership and they told me they had a recall on the air bag i paid for the diagnostic and they did the recall on my car then time passed and my air bag light came on and hasn’t gone away ever since also i had my electrical power rack and steering changed months later from the previous visit! and my stability control lights are on i literally have the air bag ,stability control ,and engine light on ! i don’t get it i do oil change on time i change my brakes i keep my car well maintained and keeps getting worser ! i almost had a accident lost control of the car and spun out on the highway thank god i did not crash or caused damages to the car it was a very scary experience i have ever had i could of died or been hurt !

The getrag mt-82 manual transmission in my mustang has had a history of shifts that take extra effort, clunky shift engagement, and a high pitched whining noise from the drivetrain under throttle application, since i bought the vehicle used 5 years ago. i have had it looked at at a ford dealer, but they say noting is wrong. the whine is present every time i drive, the other issues are intermittent. in the most odd incident that i had in the vehicle, i was in 2nd gear under throttle and the car began to shake wildly back and forth, with a loud clunking noise coming from the transmission. i’m not sure exactly on the date, a few years ago for sure. i have tried to replicate the effect, and it has happened a few other times in a less dramatic manner, but never quite like that. i am concerned that the transmission will not last the life of the vehicle, and feel it is not very safe. i know that i am not the only person who has had problems with this transmission. thank you for the investigation.

Air bag recall and iam having a code for electronic throttle body control issues that should be a recall from what i heard but my local ford dealer said it wasnt.

Takata recall i took my ford mustang to capital ford, 4222 oleander dr, wilmington, nc, 28403 about 2 months ago for service. the service advisor said they did not have air bags for passenger side recall and would order one and call to schedule an appointment when it came it. i called the ford dealer again yesterday about the airbag and spoke with another person, a female in their service department. i asked about scheduling the air bag replacement and she looked up my record of servie at their dealership. astonishingly, the airbag had never been ordered. the original service advisor clearly could care a less if the bag blew up spewing shrapnel in my passengers faces, how grossly negligent. the woman said they were out ot airbags and would have to order one and someone from the department would call me back about it and another unrelated issue. incredibly, no one has called me back. it is clear this dealership is only interested in high dollar repairs taking up appointment times and could care a less about the exploding air bag defective product they sold because they can't charge for it. i think this negligence and continuous kicking the can down the road is policy. the dealer has a monopoly and is the only ford dealership in the city so they can use that advantage to bully customers and refuse to repair deadly defects. i think an investigation into this is warranted to see just how many other people are being given the "oh we'll have to order it and call you back to schedule it" lie. this is clearly immoral and reflective of the owner's greed and indecency. since the original service advisor failed to order my replacement airbag more types of cars have been added to the recall. it is plainly evident that the omission by this company is an unfair and deceptive trade practice seriously detrimental to the consumer acting reasonably under the circumstances.

I had the drivers side airbag replaced but they did not do the passenger side airbag at the same time so now its a major inconvenience to go back into the dealer for another round of waiting. they said they would come to my home (as recall notice number three and four spelled out) to perform this service but they did not show up as set up in advance. the dealer is golden circle ford in jackson tn (731-554-7142) and the service rep is melinda. since the dealerships are not serious about performing this recall i guess like millions of other owners i will not try to get this done. the dealerships are not taking this recall seriously and ford is not pushing them to perform this service in a timely manner. i think you are going to have to start put growing fines in place to get their attention.

In 2012 or 2013 i had an accident caused by unintended acceleration. the mustang ran into the back of semi truck. unattended acceleration happened twice in the same day and the second time i could not get it to break free and stop until the last second but it was too late it hit the semi truck trailer in front of me. this was inspite of me having both feet pushing strongly on the brake pedal. we had started off slowly from a red light and then the car downshifted and took off. southwest ford in weatherford, tx had called the ford engineer to come look at it. it took a month for him to come. he looked at it in its banged up shape and declared that there was no problem. when i got the car back something had changed. it seemed like the software had been changed because it never had the problem again and whenever the brake was touched it would kill any acceleration immediately. also i lost about 3 miles per gallon till this day. the engineer blamed me when he obviously updated the software. also the very next day after the engineers visit ford was hit with a class action lawsuit for just this reported unattended acceleration across most of its models. not my fault! *tr

The passenger seat position sensor is not working properly, when somebody is seated the airbag turning off, when no one is seated the airbag is on, this is a big security issue i read in forums lot of people has a same problem

Electric power steering rack failed suddenly while in motion with no notice

Takata recall - i was at a stoplight during rush hour on a busy city street. the light turned green and before i made it 10 feet the car in front of me slammed on his brakes. i hit him from behind, it was a very minor impact but my airbag deployed and exploded/ruptured over my lap. it shattered my iphone and burned my left leg about 6 inches above my knee. upon inspection of the front end of my car i saw virtually no visible damage, only a 2cm paint chip and a very slightly bent license plate. my car drives perfectly, there are no indicator lights except for the airbag light. this leads me to believe that i am dealing with a faulty defective takata airbag. i also want to add that i already had my passenger side airbag replaced due to a recall notice i received about 6 months ago.

Fyi i can not include the top/roof due to it wont allow me to input the check mark) i baught this mustang in june 2012,used from ford here in sioux falls sd, since that time i have asked about the top about the clunking and if they would notify me if any recalls. they only sent one for the passenger air bag , until this week when i received a second notice for the takata air bags from the day i took her off the lot. i wanted to know why my front end suspension is making a clunking sound in front and it's been there since the first day, i even had her looked at to make sure she wasn't damaged, within minutes they came back and said she's fine no problems and why my transmission does not want to shift to higher gears from 1st thru overdrive, she bogs down like there isnt any fuel getting to her engine and she doesn't shift through the gears properly, if i had recieved the recalls it would of been in immediately. my top leaks water when washed so it can cause damage on the inside especially the door electrical systems, yet ford refused to have the top redone since they feel it's just normal wear yet its happened since the first time i had to wash her. i'm starting to think think ford has taken advantage of me in this case as i still can not get any updated information on my car and if i can either get the work done or the vehicle replaced, mind you i still owe on her and to be honest i do not want a trade in , i'd rather ford fix these issues and write off the remaining debt due to negligence for not advising me of these recalls in a timely manner and for bit fixing the issues when the recalls came out . it's quite frustrating to know i've paid over 20000 for a car that they are willfully neglecting to fix and yet i'm to be liable for the debt no matter the possiblity that they are negligent and dismissive of my claims.

At approximately 57,000 miles the left (drivers) power seat suddenly stopped working. it will not move forward or back but is locked in it's current position. convinced this should be considered a safety issue, i took it to my local ford dealer for the service work. they advised since the vehicle is out of warranty that this repair would not be covered. the motor that has go bad can only be obtained by buying the entire seat assembly at close to $1000 which i can't afford.

I was driving a county back road with nobody in front or behind me. the vehicle is an automatic and it was in overdrive as my speed was approx. 60 mph. without warning and without me touching the shifter, the vehicle suddenly downshifted into 1st gear locking the rear wheels until my speed was reduced and they began to roll again. i never lost control of the vehicle but it scared me to death! there was light up wrench symbol error warning. the dash turned red and all speed, fuel level and mileage was blank. i put the vehicle in park and made sure it was engaged. i pulled the emergency brake on and shut the ignition off. checked the transmission fluid which was fine. my mustang was made in january 2012 at the flat rock assembly plant. as i began my research, i found the ford recall 16s19. which described exactly what happened in my situation. when the dealership called ford for approval, they said my vehicle was not affected because my vin was not showing it as an exposed vehicle. it manufacture date, assembly plant, transmission type all match but somehow my vin was not showing. i paid $950 out of my own pocket for the exact repair this recall called for. which corrected the issue. how in the heck is my car not covered when i know it had the same transmission molded cover issue... please help me. i can provide my repair records to show it was exactly the repair procedure the recall recommended.

My mustang has been doing this more frequently now, where i’m driving highway speeds and the transmission suddenly downshift to low gear from high gear. this afternoon it almost caused me to crash on my way home from work on the freeway. this is completely unacceptable and life threatening. i went on google, to look up if others are having this same issues and i came across a lot of mustangs of this year have the same exact issue. matter of fact, ford is aware of this issue but why hasn’t a recall been put out to fix this transmission problem. a lot of lives are at danger and accidents to occur due to this problem.

I got notice from ford (feb 2018) saying my part was in and setup appointment with dealer to get repaired. i setup apt for 4/3.. they called me two days before my apt and said they did not get part yet. as of today 5/18 they still say they do not have the part (passenger airbag). i don't know where to go from here to get my car repaired. help

While making a right hand turn at approximatly thirty m.p.h. steering went totally away mid corner causing the car to drive on center divider on a blind corner for two seconds until epas kicked back on and i was able to pull back into my lane and continue making the corner. this seposedly after program update and in normal steering mode. i didn't have time to blink and fortunatly no car was coming the other direction.

I own a 2012 ford mustang and recently had problems with the electronic throttle control. it was the exact same issue as outlined in ford's customer satisfaction program 16b23 (https://ford.oemdtc.com/2670/16b23-electronic-throttle-body-replacement-2011-2012-ford-lincoln/5). i have a 2012 3.7l v6 mustang that i believe should have fallen under this program. i never received any mail or email notifying me of this program, although i had lived at the same address for as long as i had owned the car and previously received an airbag recall notice, so i know ford has my address. i was also at my dealer for service appointments (the same dealer where i bought the car) during the program time period and they never notified me either. long story short, i just had to pay a little over $400 to have my local ford dealer replace the throttle body. i asked about this program and was told because it was outside of the program end date they couldn't do anything. my question is, why didn't ford contact me about this program if my car was covered? if my car wasn't covered, how did ford distinguish between which cars were worthy of being in the program and which weren't? this was a huge safety issue for me as the car randomly lost power on multiple occasions. one time i was doing 50 mph on the highway with alot of traffic around me. luckily there was an open median i could coast into, but i may not have been as fortunate as others who have had this problem. i do not believe ford's customer satisfaction program 16b23 which was only in effect for a year was adequate to address this safety hazard. i also do not believe that ford did their due diligence to notify owners of this program and the associated safety hazard.

While driving, at any spreed, without warning, the engine will just stop driving. the wrench light comes on, and you have to be lucky to not have traffic, as you have to pull over, turn off ignition, and restart. check engine light illuminates. code: p2111. this happened yesterday, and several times in the past 2 years.

Takata recall, i have called ford about the passenger side airbag many times and have had no reasonable reply to the question when will it be done i am constantly concerned for my front seat passenger safety i think ford would know at least a time frame for this repair but i always get we don't know.

I bought this 2012 mustang from carmax in october of 2017 i have reported carmax to several different consumer protection agencies do to the fact they have committed fraud and deception inspire i got in touch with carmax explained that this vehicle has cosmetic and mechanical problems and issues this finance company is in with carmax i explain to carmax nothing they don’t care i got sold a vehicle that has a thirty warranty from car max to fix it and correct what’s on documentation nothing was done and i reported to they didn’t care because carmax sold me a car that has over 10,000 dollars worth of issues and problems which i got told by several people that worked for carmax that these cars are reconditioned vehicles and i need to hire an attorney and take this to court this is covering up problems and this has to do with carmax vehicles and i am not going to pay all that money to fix this car when this is dealer fraud and the finance company when i ask them like they’re covering up issues because they work with carmax ,carmax and exeter needs to be investigated this is also false advertising they had a 5 day money back guarantee they actually told me that i will not get my money back and will not honor the thirty day warranty i will not make no payments on this vehicle period i turned this is over to channel 5 i will file ftc complaint,bbb,this is fraud and deception negligence,either they send me the title or cancel this contract to the full extent i will sue carmax i have a lawyer lookin into this but i want the attorney general to investigate i’m not the only one being done like this i will consider the title because this vehicle was sold unsafe they had let drive home i almost got into a wreck brakes are bad and rotors the breaking system,there is also stop leak in the my coolant reservoir that looks like they are tying to cover up a problem the brakes are bad

I have been waiting almost two years it seems for parts to become available to replace my passenger side airbag. there has been barely any news about this subject and many of us are starting to lose hope that they are even really concerned about getting these things replaced. i am unable to even have my girlfriend in the car anymore because she feels unsafe. i'm unable to sell the car because people feel unsafe. and i'm unable to trade the car in because the recall is giving the dealerships reason to low-ball me. i live in florida where it is very humid which is what supposedly causing these things to deteriorate, and yet i've gotten no news for months about when my replacement will be ready. i not only think that the automotive companies should start taking more action in getting this worked out but i think that people who are in my situation should receive compensation. why should we have to drive around in cars with hand grenades in the dashboard?

Received a second recall on the passenger air bags for the mustang in march 2017. called the 800 number and was told that the parts were not available and we would receive a letter when they were. here we are in december 2017 and still no letter and no fix for the passenger air bag. the driver side air bags were replaced on 8/5/16.

Takata recall. i received a letter from ford in march 2017 stating my passenger airbag is being recalled. i called them in may and they still didn't have a replacement available. i called them today and they still don't have them and couldn't tell me when they would be available. i asked for a loaner and they denied me one. i now have a car that only i can ride in and they won't give me a loaner. this amount of time to replace my airbag is way beyond reasonable.

Over the past couple of weeks, the automatic transmission has had a mind of its own. it has downshifted into first gear on its own from different gears, it has stayed locked in gear on several gears and it has stayed in a high gear while stopped, so it is very slow leaving a light. this happens intermittently, but it has happened approximately 6 times over the past couple of weeks. no trouble codes or lights (mil or wrench) have been thrown or lit up during the incidents. the car seems to right itself after a few minutes. happens mostly when the car has been sitting for a long period and is cold. took the car to glenn ford in nicholasville, ky and explained what the vehicle was doing and if it was related to the recall that they performed (16n02/16s19) on the car back in feb 2017. they brushed it off and said it would be $110 to look at the car. we said fine. they have held the car for 6 days and said they drove it at least 36 miles and "nothing happened". they said there are no dtc/fault codes, so the car is perfectly fine. they said they will not perform the molded leadframe repair of the recall because there are no fault codes. i called ford customer service complaining of the situation because the info on the notice says either a fault code shows up or the customer "reports an intermittent unintended downshift into first gear". well, that is exactly what we reported before we even realized anything about the leadframe part of the recall. both the dealership and ford have refused to fix the vehicle unless there is a default code/dtc showing. they want us to drive the car until a fault code shows (thus possibly endangering our lives) and then they will look at it again. doesn't mean fix it, just look at it again for another $110. this is completely out of line. ford won't even fix it under their own recall instructions!!!! and the car qualifies!

When starting my car, the wrench icon stays lit on my dashboard. the car manual states that this is an issue with the electronic throttle control. the car does not recognize when i am (or not) pushing on the gas pedal- sometimes when i lightly push the pedal, the engine revs, other times the car won't move at all. this has put me (and other drivers on the road) in a very dangerous position to be in, that i can't control my car. i have read many things online that there has been this issue with many other ford/lincoln cars, from 2011-2015. when calling my local dealership, they said they will not fix this issue free of charge, even though ford had a "customer satisfaction program". i was told my car is not in those that had that issue.

While driving on freeway (60mph - 65mph) car suddenly stalls. no power to engine, need to limp to side of freeway (very dangerous). car sits, then you can re-start. sounds like electronic thottle body (etb) issue that you are well aware of. why are you not investigating this issue??? ford (westway ford, irving, tx) cannot diagnose. this is a critical safety issue. cars stalling on freeway are a hazard to all parties. you guys need to investigate this issue.

I have had a recall on the safety of my airbags since march 2017 and to this day in october 2017, the parts aren't available for repairing this safety issue. if i were to get in an accident, the airbags could cause serious harm or death. this is unacceptable, the parts need to be released immediately.

Driving the vehicle in a straight line under dry conditions at about a constant 30 mph, the car started pulsing the front corner brakes. at the same time, the vehicles traction control light was coming on and off. i was not applying the brakes at the time. it seems as though the car's traction control system thought my tires were spinning, but that was not the case. i stopped and inspected my front wheel and found no issues with the tire or its alignment or fender clearance. after restarting the car, the problem stopped. i'm concerned that if this problem persists the car could inadvertently brake itself in heavy traffic and cause an accident.

I was driving on interstate at 70mph and the wrench light came on then the check engine light,airbag warning light all came on the speedometer stopped working, the tire sensor went crazy , car lost all speed in heavy traffic was not involved in accident got to side of road turned car off restarted it was fine for a few miles then everything happened again. called ford and they had me take it to dealer for check was told it is the leadframe in the transmission and ford has recalled other ford mustang vehicles same year as mine for same problem but mine is not included this is a safety hazard for anyone who has one needs to be checked in all the cars

Apparent takata recall, and i am having trouble getting anyone from ford to help me get it done. first notice of any sort received in mail from ford on june 27, 2016. safety recall notice 15s21, nhtsa recall 15v-319. says in part "parts are now available to report your vehicle." and "please call your dealer without delay and request a service date for recall 15s21." on june 28, i called lindsay ford in wheaton md which said it did not have parts and would not know when they would. i called koon's ford in silver spring md, which said parts would not be available until the fall. on june 30, i called the ford customer relationship center to find out where to get this repaired; after interminable wait on their line, i finally spoke to a representative, who forwarded me to "kevin." he was unable to determine when parts would be available in my area. i am concerned that ford has now sent me a letter, the first notice of any issue with my car, and quite alarming; ford told me to call dealer right away, which i did, and neither of two dealers i called nor the ford customer relationship center can seem to help.

I was driving down the street and when i shifted from 1st to 2nd the gear shifter got hung up and would not shift causing the car to downshift throwing me foward and hitting my head on the steering wheel.

After waiting at a light in the left turn lane, i started accelerating from a complete stop, slowly into my left turn. at almost completion of the turn, my tachometer went from 3000 rpms to over 6000 rpms. the car had a sudden jolt at this moment and the rear wheels locked up. i went into a slide and the car slid across 2 lanes into a tree filled median. the car was totaled by the insurance company. there were no factors that could influence such a crash, as the road was dry, it hadn't rained. the road was well paved. finally, speed wasn't a factor in the crash. at the time of the accident we had no idea what could have caused the downshifts in gears, however after a recent recall we realized what had happened.

On march 27, 2015, i brought my mustand to ford because i discovered on the hood of my car, that the paint was bubbling/coming apart from the hood. on april 7, 2015, the ford dealer repainted my hood. then, i noticed again but this time, in more than one area of my hood that the paint was lifting off of the hood. i returned to the dealership and contacted ford motor company but they were reluctant to replace the hood or repaint at no cost. my major concern is that i brought the vehicle in during the "warranty period" as in the manual however, this problem was not corrected since it returned again.

During initial acceleration after a left turn, shifting from 1st into 2nd gear, the vehicle shook wildly and violently rocked side to side and lost power. this was the second identical occurrence on city streets while accelerating out of left turns. on both occasions, had to make immediate moves to the right lane before power was restored. based on other reporting and research, it appears to be an issue of throttle body failure. the vehicle has 18,500 miles and has a mt-82 transmission.

Intermittently, while driving at any speed the vehicle will go into 'limp home mode'. the 'wrench' trouble light illuminates on the dash. the vehicle then has to be stopped completely, put into park and shut off. the vehicle then starts after a few extra cranks of the starter and runs normally. the 'wrench light is no longer lit and no engine code is stored. my mechanic cannot troubleshoot the problem because no engine error code is stored. research on-line points to defective throttle body as the culprit with replacement as the solution. ford should add the mustang to its customer satisfaction program for defective throttle bodies. i understand some 1.6 million vehicles are already on this list. the problem began for me about a year ago around the 18k mile mark and the vehicle now has about 22k miles on it, is meticulously maintained and cared for. this is a very dangerous defect that we, as owners, could at least address properly if there was an engine error code reported. i am going to have the throttle body replaced at my own expense based on what others have reported, since there is no known fix from ford. i did report this to ford customer service today 04/23/2016. they confirmed they are unaware of any problem with mustang throttle bodies. i recommend that ford put some engineers on this and remedy the problem. in the meantime, we mustang owners with cars out of warranty are having to fend for ourselves.

Takata recall - in early november 2015 i was driving my 2012 ford mustang when i experienced a minor fender bender, less that 10 mph. surprisingly, the airbags deployed causing my passenger, a young boy with a stomach bag and other illnesses to have to get checked in the hospital. thank god he was not injured but he was very shaken up for many days because of his autism. the car was towed to bodyart collision center ((908-789-0330) to replace the airbags, which they have done. however, three months later my car is still sitting there because, although they were able to install the proper airbags, ford has not yet been able to get approval for a newly designed replacement dashboard. several mechanics have called to find after market dashboard but no one has them. ford has also stopped manufacturing them, most likely because of the airbag recall. my mechanic, myself, my mother and anyone else i can find has called ford customer service (heather 866-631-3788, ext. 7-7790, case no. cas8338404) and their response is "we have no additional information to give you." now they no longer return calls. we even sent an email to the ceo but have not even received an acknowledgement. in the meantime, i have no car, cannot afford to buy one, and am living with my mother so that i can use her car for errands, even though i now have to travel 40 minutes to get to work. i pay $1500+ monthly rent and i cant even live in my apartment. the frustration is overwhelming. i ask for any relief from ford -- help with renting a car, a replacement car until they the government (i assume nhtca) approves the new dashboard, even a response that has a little more meat than the standard rhetoric from their customer service.

Mustang 2012 gt rust discovered on top and under hood this winter. very server . it is going to cost 1500-2000 dollars to fix . no guaranty that this will fix problem ford is aware of this problem and has done nothing to correct it. out of pocket money for a car that is covered, and garage kept. the car doesn't have a scratch or dent on it. this is very disappointing.

I received a letter from ford motor company dated july 2015, almost 8 months ago informing me of safety recall notice 15s21. this is a very serious recall that details the possibility of a abnormally deploying driver side airbag which can cause serious injuries or death. i just spoke to ford (it is 23 february 2016 at the time of this writing) and they indicated that they still do not have the parts necessary to repair this very serious defect in the drivers side airbag. there response was that they were still working with the supplier for the parts. that is extremely unacceptable, given the extremely dangerous nature of this malfunction. i request that nhtsa contact ford and pressure them to accelerate their efforts in acquiring the necessary parts to repair this issue. nhtsa should fine ford for their inaction in this matter. it could be a matter of life or death.

I have a 2012 mustang gt with 6 speed manual transmission. i bought the car as a certified pre-owned car at about 2,500 miles. the car at that point had a dealer re-built transmission and my understanding is that it has 2nd through 6th gear replaced due to a manufacturers defect. since that time i've had multiple transmission issues and the car now has about 49,000 miles. in early january, it became almost impossible to shift the car into 1st gear. it was very stiff and took a lot of force to get it into 1st. shifting to 2nd gear resulted in a gear-mashing sound. 3rd gear sounded like a loud clunk. 4th through 6th gears were fine. these incidents became worse and almost caused me to have 2 different accidents by not being able to shift gears in traffic. i took the car to a ford dealership in the north atlanta, ga area and they looked at the car. their transmission tech believed it was an issue with the synchronizers. the tech did not believe he had the expertise to work on this issue and referred me to another ford dealership. on 1/14/16 i took the car to the 2nd dealership and their tech agreed it was the synchronizers. that dealership took about 1 week to complete the repairs. after the repairs, the issue was not solved; loud sounds were coming out of the rear of the car. over the past 2 weeks, they've ordered numerous replacement parts. as of today, 2/9/16, there are parts that are not available and are on national back order. the eta for the parts is now 2/24/16. i've read about similar issues other mustang owners with this specific 6 speed transmission have had and personally can say it is a major safety warning for the driver. these cars should be recalled and new transmissions inserted as a whole unit vs. installing multiple parts. i also believe that this issue will cause me to experience diminished value at resale.

My vehicle constantly goes into limp home mode while driving. turns off all cylinders except 1 which let's you drive about 5mph. also while my vehicle is at idle it begins to loose proper idle rpm and nearly stalls until revs back to a higher rpm. after some research i found that the issue is thought to be the throttle body and throttle body sensor. currently mymy vehicle is at the dealership going through some vehicle diagnostics to figure out the exact problem. they told me it is not covered under the vehicle warranty and i am being charged $145.00 for the initial inspection and then charged by the hour to fix the problem, i not including parts. my vehicle only has 59,000 miles on it and it's already failing. it appears that numerous people are have this issue and ford has yet to recall affected vehicles.

I was accelerating when suddenly there was no more power, the "wrench" light came on. i was able to get to the side of the road. turned off the engine and restarted the engine. the problem then went away however reoccurred about six times since with the same symptoms. i had a mechanic run a diagnostic test which revealed a faulty throttle body. ford dealer has not agreed to replace, did say that they would match any lower price for the part so that there would be a 2 year ford warranty. since there are seven other complaints on this car and it is a serious safety hazard, it seems like they should replace the part.

The vehicle has gone into limp mode several times. the wrench symbol on the dash comes on and the vehicle must be shut off and restarted. i am told the throttle body must be replaced. why is there a customer satisfaction program for the escape and other models but not the 2012 mustang. i own a 2012 ford escape also and have not experienced the problem with that vehicle. only experience it with a same year vehicle that is not included in the program. the vehicle is not safe to drive when it shuts down at 45+ mph.

While entering the freeway in rush hour traffic, my car went into "limp mode", the wrench light came on as did the check engine light. i had to pull over on the shoulder of the freeway, turn the engine off and restart it. this has happened a couple of times in the past couple of days- mostly while driving on the freeway. it is very scary to be driving on a houston freeway, have this happen and need to safely maneuver a vehicle to the shoulder of the freeway, often crossing several lanes of traffic when vehicles are moving at 40-55 mph and i have no ability to accelerate. i have also had to stop in the middle of the freeway to restart my car because i was not able to safely change lanes. it was a terrifying experience and i was afraid i would be re-ended by motorist driving at posted speeds. when researching this issue, along with the mariner's, escapes, focus etc, i have found that many ford mustangs have this same problem. given that this is a very dangerous condition, the cost involved in replacing the throttle body, and most importantly, ford's long history of vehicles with defective throttle bodies, i do not understand why the 2012 mustang or any other ford product with this issue are not automatically eligible for the "customer satisfaction program" which fixes the problem. i do not trust this car and no longer feel safe in it.

I took my 2012 ford mustang (62,000 miles) to a ford dealer to have the oil changed. they talked me into a transmission fluid change, because it would "extend the life of my vehicle". when i picked it up, it was not running right. the wrench light came on and the transmission was making a very loud noise. i had to have it towed back to the dealer. they replaced some sensors and sent me on my way. i made it home but the car wouldn't start the next morning. to make a long story short, after them attempting to fix it 3 times and it still not being fixed, they finally replaced the power train control module. i picked up the car and it still making a loud noise changing from 1st to 2nd gear. i see that there has been a recall on some 2012 mustangs for a power train control module. i was never notified of this recall.

Failure of the throttle body assembly. the vehicle went into the "limp home mode" similar to the recall of ford escapes and others with same v-6 engine assembly.

Brand new 2012 mustang does not have a screen that prevents debris (leaves, bugs, etc) from going down the a/c intake. when the debris clogs up the a/c water drain it will back up and get into a junction box and corrode plugs that are directly connected to the abs, adv trac control etc,. this disables or tricks the abs syst a safety feature that controls your brakes. for example if you are going down the interstate at 75 mph and apply the brakes hard the abs syst is disabled or thinks one brake is locked up and the car jumps all over the place, lose control of the car and wreck or kill someone in the process.....all because a major manufacture did not place simple door screen over the intake to keep debris out of the a/c intake and clog a hole.....

While merging on a local highway at 15 mph the wrench warning light came and the car went into limp mode. i was lucky the right hand lane had break in traffic and i was able to get off the road. the limp turned in no acceleration and was unresponsive to the gas pedal. i turned the car off and waited 1 minute and restarted the car - everything was back to normal. i drove directly to my mechanic and had him scan for codes. no codes were found. he ran numerous other checks and drove the car for 60 miles with no problems. this is the second time the wrench warning light has come on in the last 3 weeks. the first time nothing happened as the car did not go into limp mode. the car was scanned then also with no codes showing. i was fortunate not to have been hit.

Hood paint is bubbling and falling off due to corrosion.

While driving over rough or uneven pavement, a very audible rattle can be heard coming from the front end of the vehicle, most noticeably with the steering centered. the car also has some unstable characteristics, tending to pull much more strongly towards any lines or crowns than normal. vehicle was taken to local dealer, where they were able to isolate the noise to the front left corner of the car with "chassis ears", but could not determine the source of the noise. all front end components were replaced, however the problem persisted. ford engineers were contacted, and reported back that the noise was normal and the car was returned unrepaired. lower control arms on both sides were replaced under tsb 13-9-3. service description reads: "front suspension tech xxxx verified customer concern and found the there (sic) is a noise found in left front when on a gravel road. used chassis ear and found left front hydro bushing to make noise. replaced left front lower control arm per tsb 13-9-3 op code 130903a. also found left outer tie rod bolt stretched. replaced left front tie rod and performed 2 wheel alignment. noise is still present. checked with hotline, noise is characteristic. drove another like car and found noise is characteristic." the problem has continued to become worse, and ford customer service has become involved. returned to local dealer, said there's nothing they can do, and that the noise and instability is normal. no other dealer within 100 miles will look at the vehicle, and the problem has since gone unrepaired.

On multiple occasions while shifting into a higher gear at 7000 - 7500 rpm the clutch peddle did not return to the fully engaged position and the clutch did not fully engage. after driving 1 or 2 miles the situation corrected itself. manual 6 speed manual transmission and 5.0l v-8 engine. boss 302 model. several phone contacts with ford and ford racing resulted in their indication of no knowledge of the clutch sticking problem. 2 ford dealers i spoke to also claimed to know nothing about this situation.

My wife driving at approximately 50mph and noticed a vibration in the steering wheel. she turned left into the first parking lot available. while turning, she heard something loose and rattling in the steering wheel. she then pulled into a parking space. she shook the steering wheel side to side and a large broken black bolt fell out. after that she realized that the wheel was free and fell off into her hands. the car is currently sitting at a local ford dealer and is scheduled to be repaired in the next couple of days. i did take several picture of the broken bolt head, steering wheel, and steering column (with the remaining bolt). this car is owned by couple who are in there 60's. we purchased it new and has never been raced or abused. *tr

The 2012 mustang collided with a large commercial truck. the mustang's brakes were not applied, so there were no skid marks. none of the airbags ever deployed. during this accident, the mustang was traveling the posted speed limit of 40 mph and we believe that the airbags should have deployed. *tr

Open leaving work for the day my second gear synco in my transmission completely failed leaving the parking lot. therefore i no longer had 2nd gear. so i took it to a ford dealer where they where to fix the problem but in turned fix 2nd gear but messed up my reverse synco gear now. the car has been in the shop for almost 4 weeks and ford wont make a surplus of part for this transmission that the parts needed are on back order until april 20th 2015. *tr

For a few days before the incident, my steering was acting up like small bumps when i turned left. then yesterday, i backed out of the driveway, drove up my street, turned left and once i got up to speed the epas just stopped working. my computer said it was an electronic assist power steering failure. i couldn't control the vehicle and i almost hit a child walking to school on the sidewalk. i tried all the reset stuff ford says and that didn't work. i called the ford dealership and they were basically the rudest service center ever. they refused to even give me a loaner car while they fixed it, which would take days. so i took the car to a local repair shop i use and they are working on it now and gave me a loaner car before i asked for one!!!! this thing broke 2000 miles out of the warranty and i almost killed a kid walking to school. i commute on i-5 at 70 miles per hour everyday and now i'm worried what will happen if it shuts off going that speed. my repair bill will be around $2,000.00 for a car with 38,000 miles on it. my nissan frontier had 256,000 miles and had the radiator replaced!!! *tr

Entering into traffic, the car will go into limp mode. there was no response from the gas pedal and the car just cruzed at a snail pace. very dangerous situation, as the traffic was moving and i barely moved out of the way. since, i had 4 occurrences and taken it to the dealer. they will not work on the car unless the check engine sign stays on. the car computer will reset everytime you start the car. i had the car tow to the dealer the first time and subsequent events, but as i mentioned the dealer did not wanted to recognize the situation. *tr

I went to the dealer's body shop to get an estimate on repair and was then told that the problem was due to problems with the aluminum/iron contamination during the car assembly and that a new paint job would only be a band-aid. brought problem to dealer and was told they would document and send to ford for resolution ... 3 months later i contacted the dealer, and nothing had been done. on the 2nd visit, they documented the problem and said it would be submitted to ford. the result was that ford denied the claim because it was beyond the 3 year term. when i researched the aluminum corrosion issue i found that sending a complaint to ford customer service might elevate the claim, i sent a message to [xxx] at ford. she was very nice and sent me the contact info for my area's ford customer service representative, [xxx]. she let me know she was checking into the problem but that the only real solution is to replace the hood. when i heard back, she informed me that: "the cost to replace the hood of your mustang would come to approximately $2,483.32. i can assist with 50% of this repair but not to exceed $1,241.66 in the unlikely event that additional repairs are needed. i have contacted [xxx] at apple ford and advised him of my offer. i can honor this offer for up to 30 days from today." i cannot afford to put out money to fix this and feel that a problem originating in the assembly plant, which has been well documented, should not be covered completely by ford. if this were a problem with the mechanics of the car, it would have been fully covered. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

While my son was driving on the freeway, the vehicle suddenly decelerated, down to about 20 mph, forcing him to limp to the side of the freeway, where there was no shoulder. after turning the vehicle off, letting it sit for a minute, and turning it back on, it accelerated fine. i took it to the ford dealership, where it was diagnosed as a faulty throttle body and motor assembly. it cost $683.32 to repair. i googled the problem and found that many ford models have had this problem, but the mustang has no extended warranty for this same problem like the fusion and a few other models do. this was terribly dangerous. my son could have been killed. *tr

On oct 30, 2014 i was shifting to 2nd gear and the engine bucked, lost speed, then the "wrench" symbol illuminated, indicating the limp home mode activated. i pulled into a parking lot, shut off the engine and restarted it and the light went out. i drove it to an auto shop and they could not detect a malfunction code. today, nov 5, 2014 when leaving my neighborhood, the same loss of speed occurred in 2nd gear and the wrench and check engine light came on. i drove back to the local auto shop and they determined the throttle body was defective. the solenoid was bad. fortunately, my incidents happened at a low speed. this could be catastrophic at high speed, running the risk of a high-speed, rear-end collision. *tr

Driving on highway as i was exiting the car powersteering gave out and was left with no manubility. was able to power thru and get to the dealer right at the corner of the exit. dealer said it did part was not covered under power train warranty because technically it does not make the car move. but with out it you can't move the car no possible steering. dealer said they had the part in stock due to other 2012 mustangs with same problem also found out that the focus and f150 have had the same problems and have been called back. *tr

I had just left my house and pulled out onto the road. as the vehicle started to accelerate, the car suddenly shook and shuddered and wouldn't respond to the gas pedal. the wrench symbol came on the dash. the car would not respond to pressing the gas pedal and wouldn't go over 3 or 4 miles an hour. i put on the hazard lights, as there were vehicles coming up behind me on the two-lane road and they had to go around me. it was very scary not being able to control the car and get out of the way of other vehicles. this was the first incident with the vehicle, no prior warning of any issues. preliminary research shows that other ford vehicles have had issues with throttle body failures, with very similar descriptions to this issue with my 2012 ford mustang.

At approximately 60 mph on i-295 in moderately heavy traffic, there was an audible "clunk" and vehicle immediately began decelerating. pressing on the gas pedal did not power the vehicle. driver was already in the far right lane preparing to exit, so safely made it to the shoulder. had driver been in another lane, there would be significant risk of collision as the vehicle lost power so quickly. vehicle was towed to ford dealer, who reported that the throttle body had failed. ford denied that throttle body failure was a common issue with the mustang, although it has been in several other ford models. *tr

2012 ford mustang throws check engine light and wrench going into "limp mode" (car cuts all acceleration, and just idles). i had to pull to the side of the road, and shut vehicle off. vehicle returned to normal after one or two turn ons. this will occur every other day, and multiple times in a day. very dangerous if it was to happen while merging in traffic. this is not covered under ford powertrain or emissions warranty, they claim that it is an "attachment" to the engine, not a part of it. this issue has caused them to extend their warranties on the ford escape and fusion, but not their other vehicles affected by this issue. they have quoted me $700 dollars to completely replace the throttlebody. this is a very dangerous issue, that is linked to more than just the ford escape and fusion, and ford has not given their other vehicles owner's the same warranty. *js

The 2012 mustang is equipped with an system called advanctrac. it is an electronic stability control system that works in coordination with the electronic assisted power steering. this morning while driving my car totally shut down nose dived and turned right back on. when it returned to power the advanctrac system had totally shut. the wheel was impossible to turn due to the electronic system shutting down. had this been in a corner at speed on a highway i would have certainly left the road. upon investigating my car i found a blown 100amp fuse by my battery. this is extremely dangerous. all anyone needs to do is hit the internet and see the number of people that have had this exact issue with this car. be it from the fuse or something else this shutdown is frequent. in lieu of recent issues with gm i cannot believe that ford is ignoring this. this can and could be a very dangerous situation for anyone. i contacted ford and the dealer today and they blew me off so now i am contacting you. hopefully i am not the only one that has had this issue. *tr

My 2012 ford mustang has been experiencing problems starting with the vehicle in the park position. all of the appropriate lights on the dash come on, but the car will not crank until i place the gear shift lever into the neutral position. this happens with the car parked on level ground and the emergency brakes applied and i have verified that the indicator shows the p for park. after, doing research i have found that ford recalled some 2012/13 mustangs for the transmission range sensor (trs) which was not properly calibrated affecting the starter interlock preventing the vehicle from starting until the transmission is placed in neutral. the recall was 12c23, nhtsa # 12v190000, my 2012 mustang was not included in this recall, but i have the same problem with an improperly calibrated (trs). *tr

According to my ford dealership, the synchronizers between 1st and 2nd bears failed. i have had several issues with this transmission previously, causing the car to fail to shift while accelerating. this is incredibly dangerous, as failure to accelerate while merging into traffic would have been catastrophic. thankfully, i was in a parking lot when my transmission failed. *js

After washing my car, i noticed that the paint around the front of the hood was bubbling. i took it to my dealer and they said that the hood is aluminum and the paint has been known to bubble and will eventually start to flake off. ford has not done anything about it. the only way to fix it would be to replace the hood. this is happening all along the front edge of the hood at this time. my car has 44,000 miles on it, is not driven in the winter and garaged almost every night. it reminds me of the 1989 mustang i had that ford ended up having to repaint because of the bad primer. please make ford offer a recall on this. after checking their warranty guide, it states that "your vehicle?s body sheet metal panels are covered for an extended corrosion coverage period, which lasts for five years, regardless of miles driven. the extended warranty coverage only applies if a body sheet metal panel becomes perforated due to corrosion during normal use due to a manufacturing defect in factory-supplied materials or factory workmanship." my dealer said their has to be a hole in the hood in order for ford to do anything about it. *tr

After washing my car, i noticed that the paint around the front of the hood was bubbling. i took it to my dealer and they said that the hood is aluminum and the paint has been known to bubble and will eventually start to flake off. ford has not done anything about it. the only way to fix it would be to replace the hood. this is happening all along the front edge of the hood at this time. my car has 44,000 miles on it, is not driven in the winter and garaged almost every night. it reminds me of the 1989 mustang i had that ford ended up having to repaint because of the bad primer. please make ford offer a recall on this. after checking their warranty guide, it states that "your vehicle?s body sheet metal panels are covered for an extended corrosion coverage period, which lasts for five years, regardless of miles driven. the extended warranty coverage only applies if a body sheet metal panel becomes perforated due to corrosion during normal use due to a manufacturing defect in factory-supplied materials or factory workmanship." my dealer said their has to be a hole in the hood in order for ford to do anything about it. *tr

During acceleration to pull into traffic on a hwy with vehicles approaching at 80 mph my gas throttle stuck after i reached the speed of 60 mph. the pedal pulled away from my foot accelerating rapidly. i tried to tap pedal to release it but it just stuck. i quickly hit the brake and it finally released. i had been traveling with the cruise on prior but this occurrence, but i had been stopped for 5 minutes. i plan to inform my ford lot next week when i get the oil changed. *tr

Fuel system problem: evaporative emissions system related failure, fuel fill neck failure (possibly at connection to fuel tank) and unknown other leak. dealer claims not covered by california or federal emissions required warranty. dealer reports seeing fuel filler neck problems on mustang and other ford vehicles. (possible concern for fuel or vapor leakage, safety related concern) mustang uses "nascar" style fuel door that is clearly suspect, doesn't stay sealed tight, opens unexpectedly and allows raw fuel emissions into atmosphere. prior software patch applied to ecm due to nascar style fuel door at 2,900 miles. *tr

I brought my 2012 mustang gt with a manual transmission in to be serviced because of an awful noise occurring while shifting in and out of 5th gear. the service department now says i need a new transmission at 38,000 miles. *tr

Car will not shift into gears. the vehicle will not allow me to enter the gear i desire, causing the car to suddenly loose momentum leaving me in a very dangerous situation in traffic. this has happened to me numerous times crossing intersections and entering the highway almost causing an accident. the car has a manual transmission. i have had ongoing issues with this vehicle since i purchased it, and i cannot drive the car with the confidence that it is safe.

On 02-25-2014 at approximately 0800 my wife ([xxx]) was driving our 2012 ford mustang gt, she turned on the heated seats and was traveling north bound on ga hwy 49 when the seat warmer malfunctioned overheating and burning a hole through the leather seat back, causing a first degree burn to the bottom left flank of her back. on 02-27-2014 we took our 2012 ford mustang gt to riverside ford/lincoln in macon, ga we advised them of the incident, they charged us $95.00 to inspect the electrical system and determine what caused the seat warmer to malfunction and burn a hole through the seat back and cause a first degree burn to my wife's back. riverside ford stated the circuit for the seat malfunctioned/failed causing the seat warmer to overheat and burn a hole through the driver's side seat back. riverside ford stated our mustang was out of warranty and we would be responsible for repairing/replace the driver's side seat of our mustang at a cost to us of $1,142.36 (parts $715.76, labor $350.00, misc. $26.50, and tax $50.10). i called the ford customer relationship center (1-800-392-3673) spoke with a representative and opened a case (case #: [xxx]) they stated there were no recalls concerning the seat warmers in the ford mustang's and there was nothing they could do for us concerning replacing/repairing the drivers seat in our vehicle but they would be looking into the problem. they did advise us to save our seat when we pay to have it replaced in case there is a recall at a later date. i am glad my wife was not more seriously hurt than she was and that she turned the seat warmer off before the vehicle could have caught on fire while she was driving on the highway and possible causing an accident or harming other motorist around her. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Noticed while washing my car that the paint on my 2012 mustang was blistered on the hood . searched the internet to see if there was a recall or other people that experienced the same thing and to my dismay found that there is an issue with paint blistering and aluminum corrosion on the mustangs. i have 45,000 miles on my car and have surpassed the bumper to bumper warranty. i talked to a local dealer and asked if this is considered under the corrosion warranty and he said the car has to be eaten clear through before they consider under that part of the warranty. understand that there was a technical service bulletin that ford sent to their dealers detailing the aluminum corrosion & paint blistering problem and how to service it. ford needs to step up to the plate and take care of their customers. *tr

I turned right at traffic signal into a merge lane and accelerated to approximately 45 mph and merged left. at this point the car started jerking and making a loud noise. i placed my foot on the brake petal and could feel the brakes being activated, the car lost power and continued the jerking for approximately 200 yard. other cars behind me began blowing their horns. i do believe some of the dash light came on but at the time i was concerned about staying on the road and was not looking too closely at the dash. the second incidence was on jan. 16, 2014. all this was reported to the ford dealer. they were unable to duplicate the incident and offered no help. *tr

Transmission pops out of gear at 1st and 4th gear. transmission gears grind at random times when shifting into gears. requires clutch to be pressed at least 1 second to be pressed and additional effort in order to shift into gear after grinding to make sure that the gears are into place. makes driving uncomfortable and raises safety concerns while driving on the road. i was able to verify the issues with the dealership and took 40 days to complete repairs. the problem still exists at random times when driving. currently dealing with lemon law case against ford for a replacement. ford refuses to replace my vehicle. this is the one of 2 defects with my car. the second issue is with the rear axle differential (odi: 10556822). the second also has also been verified by ford dealer and repair attempts were made. problem still exists. raises major safety concerns while driving on high rate of speed on the road since my car is a rwd and the defect is in the rear axle differential. *tr

After driving for a total of 6 hours with 1 stop at a rest area after the first 3 hours of driving, i made another stop to refuel. as i was exiting the freeway and made the first turn at 5-10 mph, my vehicle made a loud metallic cranking noise followed with strong vibrations throughout my car. after refueling, i returned to the freeway. it seemed that the noise and vibration only appears when making left/right turn at low speed (5-10 mph) after a continuous non-stop driving of at least 2-3 hours. i took my car to the nearest ford dealer (jim wilson motors) and their technicians isolated the noise and vibration to the rear axle differential. *tr

We were driving on the freeway and the car started acting like it was running out off gas. the steering wheel jerked and the brakes locked up. we now know the problem occurs only when someone sits in the back seat behind the driver. we have duplicated the problem numerous times. sitting it the back seat causes something to short out and the car dies. this was very dangerous in real driving conditions and we are lucky no one was hurt.

The manual transmission will grind when shifting between first in second gear until the car is fully warmed up. sometimes it locks you out of second gear when you want to shift into it. a ford dealership has said this is normal operation but this is a safety hazard not being able to shift into gear. first and second gear do not work the same when cold and warm. first and second gear become almost impossible to shift between when it is below 30 degrees outside. *tr

I was driving my 2012 ford mustang v6 premium on the morning of 10\21\2013 when for the 4th time the advance traction control malfunctioned. when it malfunctioned the traction control light started to flash and i was unable to steer my car, blower on my air conditioner came on by its self full blast. while i was trying to get control of the vehicle a eighteen wheeler had to go off the interstate into the grass to keep from running my car over! this is not the first time this has happened it has been in the shop 3 other times starting at about 13000 miles. the problem is only getting worse!! i carried it to the shop when it first started having this problem they told me then that the control module was under national back order at it was going to be 6 to 8 weeks before they would have to part in for my car. the dealer was told by tech support to replace my 2012 part with a 2013 part??? they did that even though the part number was different. the next time i carried the car in the shop for the traction control they keep my car and did nothing.the third time i carried it to the shop for the same thing the tech connected to the car to the computer the alternator sent crazy waves to the electrical system and it messed up the battery they had to change the alternator and the battery. and even with everything they have done the car is still unsafe to drive and they tell me to take the car and when it happens again they will check it again. now i am stuck with a car that is going to get someone hurt or worse someone killed!!! please help!!! *tr

Upon taking off from a stop light car stalled and lost all engine power. car started again but stalled just as guiding to breakdown lane on overpass. had to have car towed to ford service where they determined it was a bad throttle body. throttle body was replaced. ford service spoke of known issues with the throttle body in focus models but was not aware of any throttle body issues with mustang. *tr

My daughter's 2012 mustang would lose power at around 40 mph when accelerating. the engine light would light up and the car would idle very rough when car was stopped. problem was diagnosed as a throttle being stuck open and the throttle housing was replaced which solved the problem. *js

My car has had galvanic action on the hood twice in less then a year. no accident, but the paint bubbles and splits on the front edge of the hood in several places. an electric current apparently occurs between the aluminum hood and the steel bolts that connect it to the hood hinge mechanism. ford has repainted the hood twice under warranty, but now say the problem wont be covered again. they have not solved the problem. as you may know, his problem is currently being deposed for a class action lawsuit for cars up to 2006. please consider forcing ford to recall all vehicles (mine is a 2011) affected by this problem. *tr

Our 2012 ford mustang is under full warranty. when driving about 5 mph in parking lots going over speed bumps we noticed there is a creaking/squeaking noise coming from the front suspension. we took our car to the dealer we bought it from which was north park lincoln and they cannot diagnose or find the issue. the first time we took it the mechanics said they could not diagnose the issue and they lubed the front suspension. well the noise was still there and we took the car back to the dealer and they have yet to find an issue with the suspension. when we bought the mustang the exact same noise occurred in the rear and the dealer replaced the bushings and links and the noise went away. we are trying to tell the dealer it's the bushing, links, and sway bar but they refuse to do anything. we are going back to the dealer to see if we can get them to replace the components of the bushing and links. *tr

While driving my ford mustang after a rain storm i heard a very loud water swishing noise and pulled off the road immediately. i quickly ascertained that the noise was coming from the driver's door. i was extremely shocked and concerned and hurried to the dealership. the door was taken apart in the service area and a large quantity of water poured out. i was told that this problem was not covered under the warranty and there was nothing they could do! when the door was apart i could clearly see that there were numerous wires and connectors that could clearly be in jeopardy from splashing water and the door interior was very wet. i nervously drove the car home and covered it and haven't driven it since because we have experienced a lot of rain. i am a disabled veteran with medical issues need to drive my car but i am afraid to. *tr

122512 when going over speed humps vehicle makes squeaking noise. dealer changed oil, rotated tires, and completed a multi point inspection. suggested rotating tires and changing air pressure should help the problem. the squeaking continued but did not occur all the time. when calling the dealership after it persisted they suggested it may be the cold weather. 042613 called the dealership because after having tire pressure and tires checked the noise continued & was occurring over every speed hump, when i attempted to break pedal would not go down on 3 occasions, & when making sharp left turns the car made a knocking sound. i was also due for an oil change 20,000 mile service. the dealership serviced my vehicle 042713 and replaced the left/right inner tie rods but when they returned my vehicle the wheel was not aligned. the service department said it was because their machine was broken and when i complained they asked me to bring it back the following tuesday (050213) to complete my service. they also made note there were unable to duplicate my brake pedal problems. in my service report they did not note the oil change, tire rotation, or service. when i mentioned this the advisor said it was completed. 052913 i returned my car to the dealer service department. i had my brake pedal stick 2 more times since my last visit, the noise going over speed humps returned, the knocked noise during hard left turns now also occurred during a right turn, & left side turn noise returned. also oil setting reads only 86%. as of today (060213), i still do not have my vehicle or a clear answer as to what is wrong or will be repaired. after calling the service department on friday (053113) & saturday (060113), the service advisor only said they are ordering parts, the sales department would give me a call, & they may replace the swing arm. *tr

Transmission whine/grating with clutch engaged traveling at speed. frequent grinding heard/felt going into 3rd and 4th gears mostly when cold. difficulty shifting into some gears. clutch will not reengage over approx 4,000 rpm. *tr

Vehicle turned right from a stop, onto a texas state highway. shifting manually from first gear to second gear, the vehicle went out of control (apparently due to loss of traction because there was a coating of fine sand on the tires). the vehicle crossed 3 lanes of traffic, and in doing so, went into a roll-over, reports stating the vehicle rolled 4 times, and striking a utility poll that stopped the roll. the utility poll was struck on the passenger side, by the windshield pillar, causing terrific damage and cave in. the utility poll was broken, almost snapped in half (the utility pole was replaced). while there was no passenger other than the driver, the only airbag in the car that deployed was the driver side curtain. the severity of the crash would indicate that all of the airbags should have deployed, to shield the driver and potential passengers. driver also went into the windshield, the steering wheel bag not deploying. potential back seat riders should be protected in such a devastating crash as well. photo evidence would indicate all bags should have deployed. the driver had not disengaged passenger bags (driver/owner doesn't even know how to disengage passenger bags). on one occasion a few weeks before the crash, an info light message came on for a few seconds while operating the car, stating the passenger side airbags were off. i couldn't figure out why. i had not turned them off. i stopped the car and turned off the engine. after restarting the car the message had disappeared. major damage to the degree my car was destroyed should deploy all airbags. *tr

The vehicle began to emit an audible squeaking/clunking noise from the rear end when traversing bumps or pot ridden roads. i took the vehicle to the dealer on 1/4/13 and they denied the existence of the noise and i was told that there was nothing wrong. picked up the vehicle and identified that the noise was in fact there, so i returned the vehicle to the dealer where they did further diagnostics and determined the the problem lied with the rear lower control arms and the connecting rod. they replaced all three and when i got the vehicle back, i noticed that both noise persisted so i brought the vehicle to my mechanic. he determined that the problem originated from worn out sway bar bushings and he also found my rear axle to be leaking differential fluid. went back to the dealer and they disagreed with my mechanic and found the problem to be with my shocks and the differential fluid leak was "normal". my mechanic once again reexamined everything and persisted that the problem was with my sway bar. the dealer finally agreed to replace the sway bar and bushings and they also replaced both rear shocks. after this, the problem went away and has not returned. no further information on the rear differential fluid leak. *tr

Vehicle has continual issues going into 1st and 2nd gear. manual transmission. after 11 months of this issue the clutch burned out, i was in the middle of the intersection. i am not stuck with a repair bill because ford or the dealership will do anything. *tr

When traveling over large bumps in the road surface, the vehicle would emit an audible squeaking/groaning noise from the front end. it took multiple visits to the dealer in order for them to even acknowledge that the problem was even there. i was finally informed that there was a tsb for this issue and they replaced both lower control arms. on w/e march 23, 2013 this problem began to reemerge but the dealer has once again denied the existence of such noise. i have been told that i must wait for the problem to worsen before they do anything further. *tr

On february 16, 2013 on a clear sunny day, without warning (no check engine light or other visible/audible signal), my mustang began to sputter and die while driving at 65 mph on a local freeway in the fast lane. efforts to downshift and rev the engine to keep it alive failed. i was forced to pull the vehicle hard over to the breakdown area in the center of the highway just as the engine completely died. efforts to restart it failed - the engine cranked, but would not turn over. my family (including a 4 year old) were was stuck for 45 frightening minutes waiting for a tow as vehicles whizzed by. *tr

Upon going over small size speed bump, i noticed a clunking/grinding sound coming from the front end. i just had the bumper/quarter panel work done 2 days ago "first time hitting bumps". was told today that there has been a lot of complaints with this type of issue. will be seeing a dealership soon. *tr

It was a clear and warm day in southern california. roads had no dirt, water, debris, etc..i was driving about 35-40 and had just gone in to 4th gear. my 2012 v6 mustang suddenly swerved to the left really hard forcing me in to the left lane and almost in to another vehicle. then to the right which almost made me lose control. felt like each tire was locking up independently. the traction control light was flashing. felt like i got a flat and that my car was braking all by itself. i tried to throttle up a second later to get out of traffic and it had no response. i could not accelerate when pulling over i hit the brakes and they sounded like metal on metal, felt rough and like the abs was engaging. once stopped i checked the tires and all were fine. i turned off the engine and waited a second. turned it back on and all seems fine. this made me almost crash in to another car!!!! there are a lot of people on forums like this one http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/2011-mustang-talk/352383-advanctrac-almost-caused-major-wreck-9.html complaining about the same issue. *tr

I had two incidents of unintended acceleration in my 2012 ford mustang gt automatic transmission premium pkg. these two incidents occurred on the same day march 5, 2013. the first was after i picked up my car from its garage of several weeks at lunch and drove back to work. i had gone about two blocks from my garage and was braking to slow down to make a right hand turn when the car down shifted and accelerated by itself while i was pressing the brake pedal. i was going about 5 mph when this all started. it lasted for about 3 seconds and then the car released and stopped the acceleration and i was able to slow down and make my right hand turn. i continued on back to work and complained to my co-worker about what had happened and how i was beginning to become afraid of the mustang. he is my witness about this happening before the second incidence occurred. later on i left work to go home and on the way home it happened again a second time only this time much stronger. i was in bumper to bumper traffic going under interstate hwy 820 bridge in fort worth to go under the bridge after going through a traffic light on each side to make a left hand turn to get on the west bound ih820. well because of the traffic you have to stop at one light on the south side of the bridge and then again stop to get through the second light on the north side of the bridge to turn left. anyway there was a large semi-truck hauling rocks in front of me and i stayed back about 60 feet so as not to get the rocks on new car. he went down to the other light which was red and stopped i was going about 5 mph again and started to brake way back from him because of the rocks and the red light. the car again accelerated on its own while i was pressing the brake pedal. i fought it the whole way but it would not let release till 15 feet from truck. i then crashed. i could have been killed! *tr

Shifting into 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears has become more difficult over the past few months. sometimes it grinds, and sometimes it won't even go into gear. i have been driving manual transmission cars for 15 years, and something is really wrong with this transmission that needs to be fixed. i had the vehicle at the dealer 3/4/2013, and all they did was change the transmission fluid and said it was resolved. drove it home and the problem was not resolved, as it is still difficult to shift gears. ford needs to come up with a fix immediately and fix our mustangs. *tr

(2nd owner) ever since i purchased this vehicle i have had nothing but problems with the shifter/ shifter linkage. the vehicle misses shifts and won't engage mainly during 2nd-3rd shifts. for a performance automobile this is the worst clutch and shifter combination i have ever seen. shifter constantly will not engage and on a number of occasions has popped out of gear due to not being fully engaged. linkage sounds clunky and is not smooth in any way. *tr

V6 automatic shifting problems. vehicles transmission has hesitation upon acceleration. often while merging onto highway, or changing lanes transmission does not engage. upon acceleration rpm's will rise but vehicle does not increase speed. ford service department says vehicle is operating as it should. *tr

Transmissions 3rd gear synchronization plate failed. the car is locked out of that gear. *tr

I drive a 2012 v6 mustang 2dr coupe base .i was merging into traffic onto i40/i85 when tried go to second gear when it would not go. i tried forcing it but was afraid i would snap the shifter shaft so i was forced to slow and then it finally went into 2nd gear. this was the other day 1/12/13. so this is not first time it has happened it has happened several times same thing when you get on the pedal this happens and on occasion it will go into 2nd but will grind.this has happened maybe 10-20 times both grinding and just not going into 2nd gear. so i know this is an ongoing problem with ford and the mustangs of 2011 and 2012 from other mustang owners i have talked to either on forums or in person. when i attended mustang week in myrtle beach sc in 2012 several people had this issue as well. so what can i do? the dealers that i have brought this up to in my area have told me it was the way i push in clutch ( classic response) i find hard to believe since i am 34yr and have had 9 vehicles in my life all manuals and i shift all the same through every gear. my hands are tied cause now my warranty is out. i have my 4yr son who rides with me alot and i am a daily driver of this vehicle and i am concerned of my sons and my safety. please help. *tr

The rear defrost cable detached from my windshield causing me not to be able to defrost the rear window. this is a huge issue as i live in a cold weather area and i cannot keep the back window clear. i have seen a few complaints like this on ford forums. *tr

The problem with the vehicle started when i tried to start it. when i turned the key the vehicle took a few seconds longer than usual to start up. as i began driving down the highway my vehicle wouldn't shift gears out of 40mph and caused the engine to have high rpm. when i turned off the engine at a gas station and tried to start it back up. vehicle would not start and i had to get it jumped. vehicle still doesn't shift gears. this vehicle is only 1 year and 1 month old since i purchased it. *tr

My nephew lost control of his six speed 2012 mustang while driving on mountain road and was killed. he was downshifting into left corner or road then road turns right uphill (like an "s" shape). perhaps the power train had an issue.? *tr

I am having frequent issues with shifting on my 2012 mustang gt 6-spd. it has been difficult to shift into 5th gear at times. shifting from 1st to 2nd is now producing a brief grinding sound with every shift. at times, the transmission will not allow shifting into 4th on the first try, and this also occurs from 4th to 5th at times. a second shift attempt usually works but there is the loss of getting up to speed in each case. in addition, the skip-shift feature often engages at too low an rpm range causing the engine to 'lug' with very little power. this has nearly caused an accident twice as i accelerate from a stop, shift (being forced to 4th gear from 1st by the skip shift) and lose power. once, the engine died following the skip-shift from 1st to 4th, causing a serious risk. after having these issues with the manual transmission, i found many, many complaints on internet forums and this nhtsa site and do not understand why there is no action to encourage ford to address this well-known and extremely well-documented issue. this situation is getting close to justifying class-action activity. *tr

Issue # 1 brakes: upgrade "brembo" brakes squeaked about 2 weeks out the dealership. took it a total of 4 times and dealer could not find the issue, the 5th time, i drove the vehicle and showed service advisor and tech. according to dealer the rear brakes were replaced. the next day, brakes are still squeaking, take it back to dealer where it was repaired a second time, picked up the car, on the 4th day, i was coming to slowing down ready to brake, pushed the clutch and car jolted forward (as if i pushed the gas and let go of the clutch). i did not think anything of it, 5 minutes later, the car started grinding, noise was only heard when driving and would stop as the vehicle came to a stop. a few days after that i was moving car forward, in my driveway, put in first gear, clutch in , as i slowly released the clutch (never touched the gas), and as i tried to brake, the vehicle did not stop, clutch engaged, pushed the brake as hard as i could the car kept moving as if there was pressure on the gas pedal, ended up hitting our suv parked in front, car still did not stop, actually pushed suv about 10 feet forward, until i turned off vehicle and used the hand brake. issue # 2 a/c - when driving the air would come on randomly, full blast, the screen would show exterior temperature at 00, 2 fans would come on, one on each side of the screen displaying 88 degrees (vehicle is not equipped with dual air controls ). this happens random and in the past 4 months i've had the car i have experienced this issue 3 times. - dealer cannot find the problem. *js

During an evening rain storm i experienced that my visibility of the road was impaired due to where my wipers stopped on the windshield. the passenger side wiper stops directly in the drivers field of view before returning to its parked position. the rainwater, wiper blade, and skid residue from the wiper, create a visually blurred area on the windshield causing an unclear view of the road for a few seconds. i have discovered this condition is uncommon on other makes of vehicles. typically, passenger side wiper blades stop several degrees short of the position described. this condition can be corrected by modifying the degree of travel permitted by the wiper. from my inquiries to the ford motor company and several ford service departments no current method of adjustment is available nor are there any concerns regarding this issue. i believe a test study will reveal there is a potential hazard to obstructed view of the road due to incorrect wiper travel. *tr

My 2012 mustang gt was most likely totaled tonight when the transmission did not allow a shift into 5th gear. it slid into 3rd gear and caused the wheels to spin resulting in the car fishtailing and hitting a tree in the median. it had just started to rain which was a factor in this as the road was slicker than normal, but transmission problems been reported to the local ford dealership this past week. they were too busy to check the car when reported and ironically, the car was suppose to be looked at in the morning. we had reported to ford an issue with shifting into 5th gear. they told us there was an common issue with this but there was no recall. all airbags deployed and luckily there were no deaths. this is not a case of careless driving. there is an issue with the transmissions in these cars and something needs to be done. there was also an eyewitness that reported to law enforcement there was no wreckless driving.

The transmission was shifted into 4th gear and popped out of gear approximately 2 seconds after releasing the clutch pedal. (this happened once) the shift from 1st to second has not been 100% reliable, it has on several occasions not been going into 2nd gear unless i rapidly move the shift lever very slightly side to side to find the gear. this is not a 1st to 4th (fuel economy) shift issue. i read and experienced this enough times to know that the vehicle suggests? this at a low accelerator input. i am referring to knowing about this and accelerating enough in 1st gear as to not see the dash prompt for 1st to 4th! although you are assuming that this is not a safety issue, what else would you call a transmission that will not shift into a gear one hundred percent of the time! you may also assume driver error for one or maybe more occasions but not the same issue on the same car after having it happen several times and consciously trying to avoid it only to have it happen again. although several occasions of not being able to shift into 2nd out of 100 seem low, when will it happen at the most inopportune time? i am sure that i am not the only driver with years of experience in manual transmission cars to start a report. my 2nd car currently has over 100,000 miles on it and has not had one single issue with the manual transmission or the clutch. same transmission and same clutch. never been worked on. *tt

When i first purchased my car i started to notice that shifting didn't seem right. one morning i walked out to my car to start it and the clutch was on the floor. i pumped the clutch several times to get any kind of pedal pressure back. this happened one more time and i did the same thing the get pressure back. on 6 dec was the first time i brought it in to a ford service dealer to have it looked at. but before i got to the dealer, i started to notice a lot of noise from the transmission. the noise sounded like a whine. then noises also came from the rear brakes i started to hear a lot of noise from them, like they were still touching the rotors. when i got to the ford dealership i told them about all the issues i was having and left the car with them. later that evening the service center said the car was done. when i picked it up the same issues were happening with the transmission and the brakes. i returned to the ford service center and dropped off the car again the next day. the service center keeps on saying the transmission and clutch are fine, everything is normal and there are no other reported issues with this problem on the transmission. on the brakes, the service center did find that both rear pads had broken guides on them and they were allowing the pad to move around in the caliper. the service center fixed the brake issue and i haven't had anymore issues with that. now on 10 dec, i left my house and went to put the car in sixth gear and it wont go in, the gear will just grind. i pulled over and went through all the gears and sixth gear will not work. i have contacted my local ford dealer and service center and have yet to hear anything back from them. *tr

I am going to start by saying that i only have 300 miles on my car. the transmission grinds going from first to second and second to third. sometime second is extremely difficult to get into. i occasionally go into reverse when i was supposed to be in first. i just started noticing a grating sound for the first 5 - 10 min when first started. *tr

Problem: abnormal vibration/noise in stick shift/driver seat during deceleration: 2012 mustang v6 base model (no add on's) manual 6 speed. purchased new. had control arms replace within 2 weeks of ownership due to creaking front end (392 miles on the car).approximately 3 months after control arms were replaced i noticed vibrations in shifter and driver seat as well as rumbling noises when on highway during deceleration. sounded and felt like when you ride over a rough patch of pavement or a metal grated bridge. problem continued off and on and i could not duplicate. i have recently been able to reproduce the problem. what i discovered was when i ran the car up to 2750-3000 rpms then let off the accelerator i could feel an abnormal vibration and hear the car rumbling. the vibration/noise would stop as the car decelerated to about 2500-2000 rpm's. severity of vibration/rumbling noise has ranged from mild vibration/noise to stick slapping back and forth violently and very loud rumbling. car does this in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. i don't get to 3000 in 5th or 6th gear so i don't know if problem exists in these gears. road conditions do not appear to lessen or increase rate of incident. *tr

This vehicle has a shifter that will not retain its position and i believe it is related to the skip shift feature implemented for fuel economy. commonly it tries to force the shifter from 1st to 4th. as a result the driver ends up fighting the stick shift to get to 2nd. this often results in reduction in speed and a loss of real control of the vehicle and increases the risk of being struck from behind. in virtually every gear at some point i have lost the ability to down shift or up shift creating a driving scenario of real danger and potential of being struck by other motorists. i would say that every day i have driven this car something regarding the shifting has gone wrong. i have been driving a wide variety of manual transmissions for more than 4 decades and this one is grossly defective. in a series of contacts with ford csc i have received advice on how to correct this that had nothing to do with the actual problem. originally the dealership indicated that i should contact csc so that they could authorize the dealer to disable the slip shift feature. however the csc at ford said to contact the dealership and hence the cat chasing its tail began. this shifter, first used in the 2011 version is going to cause a serious injury at some point if this issue is not resolved by the appropriate authorities delegated with the responsibility of correcting this. it is well documented that people are having problems and that ford is doing nothing to correct it. please take up this cause before someone is seriously injured or worse. *tr

My 2012 ford mustang v6 with premium package has a 6 speed manual transmission. i can't get the vehicle into some gears. i have noticed this problem to happen when starting the vehicle the shifter does not go smoothly into 1st or reverse gear when pressing the clutch pedal. i have to press the clutch repeatedly and play with the shifter to get it into 1st and 2nd gear when starting from a stopped position. in addition, i have had difficulty changing gears when traveling more than 25 mph. the transmission does not let me go into 3rd or 4th gear without having me put it into 5th or 6th gear while pressing the clutch pedal. i had a 20 year old acura integra that never gave me a problem and it had a 5 speed transmission with worn out synchros. my vehicle is fairly new and i never expected to have any issues with a car this new. this is a safety hazard especially during emergency situations where i may have to downshift to gain more acceleration in order to avoid hitting something or getting me out of a dangerous situation. luckily i have not been in a position where i have to downshift quickly as i will be put in a dangerous situation and can seriously injure myself or someone and maybe even be killed. i have noticed the shifting problem to get worse as i put more miles on the vehicle. i currently have under 2000 miles on the odometer. please look further into this matter. *tr

I have a 2012 mustang v6 with the getrag mt82 6 speed transmission with the know issue of notchy shifting and sometimes not going into gear. i have been experiencing problems shifting from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd gear. the problem is that it can be very difficult to actually shift gears. there can be a lot of resistance and are times when i have to force the car into gear or skip the gear completely. the transmission is grinding and resisting changing gears. also, there is a vibration when i let off of the gas while the car is still in gear. and today i felt a grinding while i had the clutch completely depressed. this vibration can and does occur up to 25 times each day during my 40 mile commute. i have stopped by the dealership and inquired about any know issues and was told they are not aware of any. the car has exactly 5000 miles on it. i have owned many other cars with manual transmissions, such as two honda accords and 2 toyota celica's. these transmission issues are of great concern for my safety, the safety of my wife and the safety of our 4 year old daughter. dealing with a screaming child is very unpleasant but every parent becomes accustom too (even thought we don,t like it). but having the issue of not being able to shift gears while driving through a busy intersection and dealing with a screaming child is terrifying. please take a deep look into these concerns. there are plenty of actual videos available to confirm the complaints. ford has done a terrific job. just hold them accountable for this flawed transmission. i just want my new car to run safely. thanks information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) *tt

I have the mt-82 6 speed manual transmission in my 2012 v6 mustang. it is very hard to shift into 1st and 2nd gears regardless of ambient temperature. i have driven manual transmissions since i was licenced 15 yrs ago, i have never experienced this kind of hard & grinding shifting from a new/newer vehicle. it's like shifting a 50 year old farm tractor! i have to use excessive force to shift into 1st gear from a stop even with the clutch pedal to the floor; sometimes requiring a "double clutch" just to get it into 1st gear. this extra effort to get into 1st gear from a stop takes my attention and eyes off the road and i have even rolled backwards while fighting the transmission. then, once moving i have the same problem getting into 2nd gear; again causing me to divert almost all of my attention and eye sight from the road to inside the car getting into 2nd gear. most shifting into 1st & 2nd gears are accompanied by metal grinding that i can feel and hear. the shifter has popped out of 2nd gear a few times causing the engine to red-line while getting on the freeway. also, i have almost caused accidents while turning left at intersections fighting the transmission into 2nd gear. i have only experienced this shifting problem in 1st and 2nd gears; 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th shift very smooth for my vehicle. there is also a vibration while decelerating in 2nd and 3rd gears. i can feel it in the shifter handle, steering wheel, seat, and foot pedals. not only am i disappointed in the shifting problem with my 2012 mustang with 1,000 miles; i feel it is unsafe to drive. *tt

2012 mustang is a rental vehicle from avis/budget group that i have been assigned to repair. it was rented out and returned with all 4 airbags deployed. customer seemed truthful. stated they blew out while at full throttle. doesn't remember seeing anything in his path. felt a simultaneous jolt as all 4 bags deployed. inspection by the mike brown ford in granbury, tx found no damage beyond a plastic chin spoiler was torn, but is considered normal wear and tear. only previous repair was a scratch that avis had repaired on the front bumper in may 2011. we have a full report and pictures of the damage at that time. this was minor damage that occurred while the vehicle was stationary. the original bumper cover was repainted and no other work was performed. no turned bolts on the entire vehicle. the pcm was sent to ford in dear born mi. was found to have crash data in it, but nothing severe enough to blow airbags in my opinion, especially side airbags. explanation was "there was certain parameters that were met". ford refuses to correct this problem stating the crash data was enough to cause deployment. my complaint is: how can they build a vehicle that the airbags can deploy correctly without an impact to the body or undercarriage. entire car is in damage free condition aside from these airbags being deployed. the even greater complaint is that the side airbags are blown. but, even still - all 4 bags blown out on a car without a scratch on the body, undercarriage, or a single turned bolt? ford refuses to repair this vehicle. *tr

Since new the gear changes were difficult to engage, then when miles accumulate it develops unable/very hard to get into first/second/third gears, an incident almost occur when i try to get into first at the green light and other dangerous situations that result on car behind almost rear end me. ford replace transmission(with same part number) and again at 4300 miles gear changes start to be difficult and transmission whine is present again. *tr

I have a 6 speed manual transmission. it will not go into 2nd gear sometimes and when it does it's notchy and clunky (sometime it's smooth but rare). under harder acceleration it will not go into 2nd gear at all. it does not grind or anything. it just won't go in. it's like hitting a wall. i've had this happen to me several times on the street and highway. *tr

6 speed manual transmission, 5.0 liter engine. while under accelleration the transmission "hangs" when shifting from 4th gear to 5th gear. the shift into 5th gear will not occur unless the shift is stopped and started again i.e. shift back to 4th and then to 5th a second time. this of course means that the vehicle is not accellerating, which is problematic when merging in traffic onto a highway or interstate in a metropolitain area. this "hanging" issue has not occurred in any other gear combination i.e. 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd etc. only 4th to 5th. since the first occurance this scenario has repeated itself again and again up to 5-6 times per week. *tr

My manual transmission 2012 ford mustang was initially at a standstill at the stop light at a four way intersection. as i prepared to make a left hand turn, i experienced difficulty shifting into first gear--the transmission did, however, shift into first. i accelerated to make the turn, and halfway through the turn i lost power (approximate speed was 15 mph)--the transmission shifted out of first gear back into neutral. it was as though it had only partially engaged the gear when i initially shifted into first. a near collision ensued, as there was oncoming traffic. i originally had enough time to make the turn, but the loss of power caused me to come to a near stop in the intersection. i attempted to shift back into first, but the shift was impossible (the transmission simply would not shift into first), so i shifted into second gear and gave it as much gas as possible to get out of the intersection. *tr

The transmission doesn't want to go into gear when shifting from 2-3 gear at higher rpm's. this has happened numerous times while entering traffic and have had a couple close calls. took it to ford dealer with 1200 miles on it and they said it's okay, they are all tight when new and i needed to drive it more to loosen up. now has 1800 miles and no difference. *kb

Was turning left at approximately 35 mph to get onto hwy on ramp. had clutch in on manual transmission and stick in "out of gear" position during turn in anticipation of dropping to lower gear to gain acceleration. was unable to put stick into 5th gear after three attempts - seemed "locked out" of gear. no grinding noises like the clutch wasn't in; just like the gear slot didn't exist. i released the clutch and pushed it back in and was finally able to get the transmission into 5th gear. *kb

Binding shift linkage, unable to shift. occurred when merging unto freeway and shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, nearly run into by following traffic, had to coast to shoulder and nearly stop before able to shift into any gear. in addition, the transmission grinds when shifting to 5th gear. the binding linkage has occurred several more times since the initial problem. i am 67 years old and have had many vehicles in my lifetime with similar drivetrains and have not had this type of problem with any of them. i presently own 3 other vehicles with manual transmissions, all floor shifters ( one 4 speed, one 5 speed, and one 6 speed), and they have never had this problem. i believe the linkage and transmission is defective and am returning it to the dealer in the near future for a warranty claim. i have delayed the warranty claim for several reasons,number one: the vehicle is one of six i presently own and it sees very little use and has very low miles on it, number two: i have been able to avoid damage from the grinding by skipping 6th gear, number three: the dealer is not real close to my residence so i have delayed the trip there until logging enough miles to justify an oil change at the time of investigating the grinding and linkage problem.the vehicle was purchased new on 6-1-11 and had approximately 10 miles on the odometer when received by me. the vehicle has the getrag 6 speed transmission. the spacing between gears seems excessively close and may contribute to the problem. *tr

My gt was shifting perfect for 2000 mile. one day i went to afm and everyone said my transmission is pos and will fail. what do you know. just 2 days later i almost run over my neighbor because i was not able to get into gear. i have 2 other friends with 2011 gts, cbatty and 06gtfan. they have to cry themselves to sleep at night because their car grinds and whines. ford is not doing anything to help them. sigh. *kb

Vehicle recently taken to ford dealer for the following complaints.... complaints: 1.) there is always a sensation of "crunching" when up-shifting or down-shifting into 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears. sometimes it's really bad, sometimes not so bad. 2.) it can be difficult to up-shift or down-shift into 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears. this is most common going into 2nd gear. 3.) on occasion, it is totally impossible to up-shift into 2nd gear. this is not under a "skip-shift" situation (engine rpm greater than 3000). 4.) occasionally there is a significant "clunk" which can be heard & felt in the cabin, most noticeable when engaging/disengaging the clutch at a steady, low engine rpm. notes: a.) none of the items are more or less evident if car is "cold" or "warmed up". b.) all concerns above have been noted since ~500 miles. c.) all items seem to be getting more prominent as miles increase. d.) vehicle is not driven aggressively - all concerns occur at 3,500 rpm or less. e.) i have owned & driven manual transmission vehicles continuously for 45 years. dealer inspection results of 10/03/2011: no problems noted. *tr

Since purchase of my 2012 ford mustang v6 with manual transmission i have noticed 5th gear being notchy even with just 4 miles on it. i currently have 2715 miles on the car and have had several occasions where i have experienced grinding in the transmission in 5th and 6th gear mainly when it has been below 65 degrees farenheit out. the transmission is also difficult to shift into first and second at times but the main cause for writing this complaint is the grinding in 5th and 6th gear no matter how hard i try to be easy and go slow with shifting in the mornings when the temperature is cooler.

6 spd manual transmission, unable to upshift to 3rd gear around 4000 rpm. had to wait until the rpms came down below 2000 before it would go into 3rd. was accelerating from an on ramp and trying to merge with the 65 mph+ traffic. had to ride the shoulder for a bit until the transmission would let me shift. not safe at all. *kb

Shifting from 1st to 2nd, during heavy acceleration merging into fast traffic, shift could not be made - skipped 2nd going to 3rd to avoid becoming an accident. transmission shifts poorly from 1 - 2 as a rule and 3 - 2 on the down shift. suspect this is due to the mass - stored energy in the mass of the 43lb two piece drive shaft, drifting the syncro's out of alignment when the clutch is engaged - the shaft pushes the output shafts one way while the engine/clutch assy takes the input the other - stored energy in a rotating mass. additionally the inadequate design and construction of the shifter makes the "gates" vague to non-existent, and in the case of the 1st and 2nd, non-existent; i am frequently putting the transmission into 3rd vs 1st - no centering spring in the shifter itself, relying on the poorly designed components of the shift forks in the transmission. aftermarket solutions are to install a much higher quality shifter and one piece al drive shaft at almost 1/2 the weight and a more appropriate fluid. please get this one addressed - ford has a problem! *tr

The manual transmission in my 2011 ford mustang gt has given me problems for the past year of ownership. there have been multiple incidents where the transmission will not go into 2nd gear. the gear appears/feels to be "locked out". this has happened while pulling out across on-coming traffic, and i have had numerous close calls. i also have horrible gear while/noise, and grinding shifts almost all the time. ford has rebuilt my transmission, but refuses to do anything else with the car. they claim that this is "normal" for this car. my wife drives the vehicle, and i fear for her safety. please help me! *tr

As i was turning a corner from a red light i went to shift into 4th gear it would not shift at all almost causing me to crash. this transmission locks rarely locks me out of gears but this time was the worst. i also have many grinding noises from 1st-2nd-3rd gear. one time i went put it in reverse and it popped out. another time i was at a stop light and put it in first went to go and it grinded the gears really loud then it popped out lucky it was at night an no one was behind me. multiple missed 3rd gear shifts as if it is locking me out. this problem keeps getting worse and worse the more i drive it and i only have 1100 miles on the car. this is not fair and this transmission needs to be recalled complete garbage. please do something about this. thank you!!! *tr

I am senior citizen and love my 2012 mustang, except that the v-6 model does not have a spare tire wheel. i am greatly concerned that if a large piece of metal ruins my tire or causes my tire to blow out, i will be stranded on a bridge, rural road or the interstate, without a spare tire to get me to safety. i would have to be stranded until help arrived, and what if at night, and i can;t get a new tire until the next day. this, i feel is a safety matter for the motorist. a mini spare should be standard on all cars. you never know who might stop while you are stranded and attack or rob you. even the police can't help you with no spare tire, and you have to sit in a dangerous place until a tow truck arrived. i complained to ford and their reply was buy a gt v-8 model which does come with a spare tire and wheel. i feel this is a safety complaint and that ford should supply a mini spare tire and jack at little or no cost. thank you. updated 08/31/11 *bf

While trying to shift from 1st to 2nd it wont go into 2nd gear, it feels like something is blocking the gear and it also has done it going from 2nd to 1st. during one instance when i was turning and tried to shift into 2nd gear and couldn't i was almost hit by an oncoming car but they were able to go around me at the last second. i also have a vibration in the transmission at around 2500 rpm's.

2012 mustang gt 5.0 build 2/11. shifting into 2nd gear has a little grind but feels better or completely goes away as the car warms up, also when turning shifting from 1st to 2nd has a grind no matter if the car is warmed up or not. i have also been locked out of 3rd gear under acceleration. this appears to be a safety concern as i have to deal with an inconsistent transmission. *tr

I bought a 2012 mustang gt premium in april. starting at about 2000 miles, my car has had a large "thunk" when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, occasionally causing a "lock-out." usually, this lockout occurs at low speeds (i.e. under 15 mph) or occasionally will occur when stopped this issue has been reported to the local dealership a total of 3+ times, with the first action being a replacement of the fluid per the tsb. while this improved the issue, it did not resolve it. the second time it was dropped off, one of the service consultants recognized the issue. i removed the car from the dealership since i was going on a long vacation with the car. after dropping it off the third time, the issue was recognized again (after much delay). the dealership tested another car of similar miles, which was "notchy" but not to the extent of my own vehicle. regardless, it was not found to be "excessive." i escalated my claim through a ford service rep who subsequently called and explained that it was not "excessive" enough and that the dealer could not replicate the problem to the extent i experience. i proceeded to request a test drive with the other vehicle and noticed the similar feel, but none of the noise or "lock-out." i agreed to drive another collection of miles, but the lock-out is still present at regular intervals, leading me to believe this is a systematic safety issue. *tr

Noticed a transmission leak while rotating tires. took it to my ford dealer, who examined the leak and informed me that the forward transmission seal failed. the service manager told me that they had to remove the transmission to replace the seal. unable to determine if there is internal damage to transmission. the car is 2 months old and has 5700 miles. dealer said this is happening to many mustang transmissions and there is a service bulletin.

The car will not shift into reverse unless the transmission has reached full operating temperature. if you don't leave it in reverse overnight, you simply have to wait for the car to reach that temperature to back out of a parking spot. it is also extremely difficult to shift into 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear until the car has warmed up for 5-10 minutes. this makes it very dangerous to turn/merge into traffic if you haven't allowed the car to reach full operating temperature. i have had no issues with the transmission once the car is fully warmed up. *tr

Mt 82 6 speed manual transmission -- when shifting gears between 1-3 the transmission shows signs of poor craftsmanship as it is very difficult to change gears at times and refuses to go into gear no matter how hard you attempt to put it into gear. also, it will occasionally pop out of gear during moderate to high acceleration. has difficulty shifting at times where it is most critical such as on the highway, passing a car, merging onto the highway, or cruising through town through an intersection. the transmission also shows signs of difficulty in gears 4-6, particularly 5th when attempting to engage the gear.

Shifts between 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th can be very difficult to engage when accelerating. on many occasions multiple attempts to engage gears must be made.

While slowly driving around some pot-holes on a uneven pavement in a det. mi. area , i felt and heard some loud squealing from under the front of the car. seconds later i noticed the manual gear shifts were very stiff and had use more effort to make manual shifts. days later, i took the car to my local ford dealer for my 5000 mi oil change and inspection.after ordering parts, i took the car back and both lower control arms and bushing were changed. i am not sure if the mechanic also worked on the gearbox or not. for about a week the gear shifts were very smooth, but they vary now , from smooth to stiff.

June, 2012 (2012 not a dropdown option). i currently own a 2012 mustang rtr, this was purchased this year in june with 300 miles on the odometer. i experienced intermittent engagement problems with the transmission with gears 1-3 either upshifting or downshifting pretty much out of the gate. what happens is the gears fail to completely synchronize with the clutch in, resulting in anything from a partial lock-in, which causes the gears to grind, or a complete failure to engage, which requires a shift to neutral and repeated clutching to get a synchronization to occur. currently the car has approximately 1500 miles and the problem continues on a completely random basis. i have not taken the car back to the dealer as nothing i do behind the wheel can make this happen at will and it wasn't until i was recently informed about the nhtsa's ongoing complaints with this issue that i thought i should voice my issues as well. while these occurrences have mainly been centered around the 2011 model year and have not yet resulted in an accident, i do not wish my model year car to experience a catastrophic drivetrain failure to be considered for a recall. *tr

I am hereby lodging a complaint about the mt82 transmission im my 2012 v6 ford mustang, and you may also include my 2011 v6 mustang as well, as it also suffered the same problem. the date given is not the 1st, nor will it be the last time this has occurred. 99% of the time..it shifts fine, however...sometimes at low speed the trans will 'grab' the teeth or grind while shifting and shifting at speed(entering a highway or passing slower traffic)will result in gear 'lockout' and over revving....mostly on upshifts, but sometimes on downshifting too. i know i am one of a growing list(and an 18 year ford dealer employee)of mustang owners experiencing this problem...ford needs to get on this before their reputation and the mustang heritage becomes tarnished!! *tr

I own a 2012 mustang, purchased 06/13/11 .i have had the car for about two months and have experienced many problems with the car. the check engine light care on the second week i bought the car, it stayed on for a day then went away , i figured it way bad gas, but i may have been wrong. the transmission has been very notchy when shifting from first to second gear ever since i purchased the car. normally this notchyness goes away when the car is warmed up , i try to baby it as much as possible in fear of damaging the transmission. on two occasions, when shifting from first to second i have had the transmission pop out of second gear, this was under slow acceleration. luckily this has only happened in my work parking lot and not when merging onto traffic or pulling out of my driveway , etc.. where it could be a major safety concern. i have a concern with the clutch is very noisy and rough when engaging/disengaging , it feels as if something is loose or not working properly. this noise worries me, as i don't recall hearing/feeling it on the cars i test drove before this purchase. this next issue is an odd problem but a problem non the less, i have had my emergency flashers turn by themselves when i adjust my ac/heat settings, this has happened a few times since purchase and is annoying. the most recent problem happened last sunday when i was on the highway in 5th gear, i went to accelerate but the car didn't go anywhere, the rpms increased however the car did not move faster.. it seemed to not have power after 3k rmps . i shifted into 4th and tried to accelerate, same thing, no power. i shifted back into 5th and continued to drive home worried about my cars health and my safety..... few minutes later the check engine light came on. thankfully, i made it home with no problems .but the car is still not running right. i am bringing the car into ford this wednesday and i will let them know about the problems i have been having. more information to follow. *tr

Brand new 2012 boss 302 mustang with mt-82 transmission. failure to shift into 3rd & 5th gears in regular driving cycle transmission grinds /pops out of 3rd & 5th gears rendering car mission disabled/ requested a replacement transmission after taking back to dealer , and ford will not replace, only repair/ meanwhile, parts have been on back order for 2+ weeks, bar is at dealer for 3 weeks now/ ford is aware of these transmission issues with the mt-82 model transmissions, and will not admit to their design/build issues.

I own a 2012 mustang gt with manual transmission. the car has exhibited very rough shifting about a week after purchase. additionally the clutch and drivetrain are very noisy - lot's of clangs and seemingly loose parts. the car will pop out of gear occasionally when in 1st. shifting from 1st to 2nd is sometimes smooth, sometimes very rough and sometimes grinds. attempting to shift into 2nd when making a left hand turn seems to make rough shifting worse. i was at a light making a left turn on a four lane road. i was in the left hand land with a tractor trailer to my right. the light changed and we both started moving. i tried to shift from 1st to 2nd and was not able to engage the gear and lost speed. the tractor trailer however continued with the turn and had to slam on his breaks to avoid side swiping my car. if the driver hadn't reacted, he would have hit the car. if i had a passenger in the front seat and had been hit they could have been injured or worse. this car is equipped with skip shift technology however the dashboard message that lights when it is active did not light. this car has a serious safety issue which seems to be getting progressively worse. the first time the car was brought to the dealer was for the noisy clutch/trans - they felt it was "louder than normal" and after discussing with them they felt it would not break down. with this most recent issue of not being able to shift into gear and a near-miss accident, i'm scheduling the car to be serviced. this is in my opinion primarily a major safety flaw and secondly a red flag for durability for the life of this drivetrain. a transmission that is grinding gears / getting locked out of gears after a couple of hundred miles can't last for what you would normally expect a transmission to last for. over the life of the car, how many more situations where you need to maneuver the car to avoid an accident will arise. how many of those times will the transmission not respond? *tt

2012 mustang v6 manual 6 speed transmission. hard to shift into 1st gear. stopped at a red light on pch and topanga canyon with my 3 year old in a baby daughter in the baby seat in the back behind me. i saw a driver behind me coming in too fast. i started prepping if i had to move forward into the intersection that had no traffic just in case. would not shift into 1st gear no matter what i tried. quickly i shifted into 2nd and saw the driver smash the breaks while his tires were smoking as he was approaching my rear end in a slide. car had enough power to move me forward 10 feet and avoid a collision. *tr

Brand new 2012 ford mustang boss 302, 5.0l, mt82 6-spd transmission. my understanding is this car has a revised clutch mechanism vs. the 2011 model year. regardless, i've begun to experience the same issues 2011 model year owners report. i've owned the car less than two weeks and with less than 200 miles on the car at a stop light the transmission failed to engage into first gear fully. this results in a grinding coming from the transmission. nearly rear ended, vehicle was at a light at the end of a freeway ramp and was unable to accelerate until the car was placed into neutral and re-shifted to 1st. 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd shifts tend to be hard, rough or clunky. on occasion shifts to 5th exhibit a clunky sensation as well. at 295 miles was unable to shift into 2nd gear, you could hear the synchros winding up in the transmission during the attempt. likewise moving back to first, even at speeds of less than 5mph in this instance, resulted in a rough engagement and synchro whine from the tranny. driving in 2nd gear at 20mph and pushing the clutch in to coast results in a rattling noise intermittently. this rattling just started within the last 50 miles of driving. the build date on the vehicle was 3/31/2011. i've not yet reported this issue to my ford dealer but intend to shortly! very very worried at over $42,000 this is the most expensive vehicle i've ever purchased and am gravely concerned i may have a lemon on my hands. my previous mustang with a 5 spd manual never exhibited these tendencies. ford must resolve the issues the mt-82 6 speed transmission immediately or replace it with a properly designed alternate unit. i won't entertain having my special edition vehicle damaged due to a faulty transmission. likewise i understand the fix offered to 2011 owners only makes matters worse, i refuse to try anything that will worsen the current situation. deeply fearful that continued use of my 2012 vehicle will result in considerable drivetrain damage or accident. *tr

I currently drive a 2012 ford mustang gt coupe (this site will not let me select a 2012 mustang from the drop down menu, only 2011), purchased 3/11/11. it is currently experiencing a "clutch stay out" problem. it is a six speed manual transmission. when shifting from first to second gear at high rpm, the clutch will not release for the shift until the rpms fall back below a certain level. i am unsure if this holds true for all the gears as my car is still fairly new and in break-in and i haven't taken any gear past 5k rpm. that said, the physical experience goes like this, "take first gear past 3k rpm, shift to second, car bucks, rpms fall, second is then engaged, car lurches/lunges forward after the clutch "catches" and then it launches one forward unpredictably." this has happened to me every time i have shifted the car into second gear after taking first gear past 3k rpm. *tr

I have been to my ford dealership 4 different times to have the airbag recall taken care of and every time i go they say the parts are back ordered. i don't believe ford anymore and i don't believe they have anymore parts to handle this recall. i am tired of waiting. this is a critical recall that could kill a front passenger in an accident should the airbag deploy. they are not taking this recall serious when they still don't have parts almost 2 years into a recall.

Paint is bubbling under hood caused by corrosion of the aluminum. ford is aware but will not repair under the 60 month unlimited corrosion warranty.

While driving slowly at a intersection and gently applying the brakes the engine accelerated and the abs went on but the car didn't stop until i turned the corner. i checked the next day to see if it was possible that i had applied the brakes and the accelerator pedal. there is no way my foot could have applied both systems simultaneously. i had the dealer check my auto today but because the check engine didn't come on the could not find any malfunction. this is the first occurrence on the 2012 ford mustang v6. *tr
