2017-07-10	ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR	Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300, Dodge Durango, and 2012-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. The affected vehicles have electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS) and are equipped with a 5.7L or a 3.6L engine and a 160, 180 or 220 amp alternator. In the affected vehicles, the alternator may suddenly fail. Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the alternator and depending on the part number, will replace the alternator, if necessary, free of charge. 2016-04-25	POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM)	Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles manufactured February 15, 2011, to November 27, 2014, and 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured July 16, 2012, to December 22, 2015. The affected vehicles, equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a monostable gear selector, may not adequately warn the driver when driver’s door is opened and the vehicle is not in PARK, allowing them to exit the vehicle while the vehicle is still in gear. Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software to mitigate the risk of vehicle rollaway, free of charge. The recall began on June 24, 2016. Note: On October 19, 2016 Chrysler identified some previously repaired vehicles did not receive the complete software updates. 2016-01-28	STRUCTURE	FCA US LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Dodge Charger vehicles manufactured August 23, 2010, to January 7, 2016. When an affected vehicle is lifted using the supplied tire jack without chocking the wheels, the vehicle’s body-side sill may give causing the tire jack to fail and the car to fall. Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will provide owners with wheel chocks and instructions for their use, free of charge. The recall began on March 21, 2016. 2015-07-27	AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW \| SEAT BELTS	Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Dodge Charger vehicles manufactured May 6, 2010, to June 5, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the side impact sensor calibrations may be overly sensitive, and as a result, the side air bag inflatable curtains and seat air bags may unexpectedly deploy and the seat belt pre-tensioners may activate. Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the Occupant Restraint Control module calibration, free of charge. The recall began on August 25, 2015. 2014-10-08	ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR	Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Durango; and 2012-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured April 22, 2010, to January 2, 2014, and equipped with a 3.6L engine and a 160 amp alternator. In the affected vehicles, the alternator may suddenly fail. Remedy: Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will replace the alternator, free of charge. The recall began on February 27, 2015. 2014-03-04	EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS	Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Dodge Charger vehicles manufactured May 20, 2010, through November 8, 2011, and equipped with halogen headlamps. In the affected vehicles, a sub-harness for the headlights may overheat and cause the low beam headlights to go out. Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the headlamp jumper harnesses and bulbs, or the headlamp assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 2, 2014. Owners may contract Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number associated with this recall is P08. This recall concerns non-police vehicles. 2013-04-03	AIR BAGS	Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, and Dodge Charger vehicles manufactured April 11, 2011, through December 14, 2011. The affected vehicles may have improperly sized terminal crimps on the seat side-airbag wiring harness which may cause the seat side-airbags to malfunction and illuminate the airbag warning light. Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace both driver and passenger seat airbag wiring harnesses, free of charge. The recall began on April 22, 2013. 2012-01-06	TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS	CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 DODGE CHARGER SRT8 AND THE CHRYSLER 300 SRT8 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 2, 2011, THROUGH NOVEMBER 17, 2011, FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NUMBER 138, “TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM” (TPMS). AS BUILT, THE TPMS DOES NOT WARN THE DRIVER WHEN A TIRE IS 25 PERCENT BELOW THE RECOMMENDED PRESSURE. The brake rotors have become glazed after a short period of time. A master technician at the dealership said that the rotors should never become glazed but could wear slower or faster than average; the technician indicated that the rotors should not be resurfaced because there is heat damage through the entire rotor. A replacement was requested under the warranty but no second inspection was completed and no repair was made; the rotors are covered for 36,000 miles under warranty.

The power steering failed with most of the other components in the vehicle after a clear electrical failure. A control module in the vehicle was defective, recalled, and my vehicle was part of that recall yet I was never notified. The system failed and disabled the crash avoidance system, the side collision sensors, the forward collision sensors, and most of the multi-function display in the dashboard. This was disabled until the system was reset, an update was made, and the control module replaced by the dealership. The only thing that indicated the failure was imminent was a simple warning of “Power saver mode enabled”.

The vehicle audio was disabled due to a software bug. It was muted for all warning signals for crash avoidance, stereo, and navigation and could not be unmuted until a re-flash was done by the dealer.

The power moon roof has two rubber accordion gaskets which prevent grease from getting everywhere, fingers from becoming stuck in moving parts, and build up of air contaminants in the moving parts. The rubber gasket initially fell out after I drove the car home and it hit me in the face while driving. I took it into the dealership and they said it had been fixed. It happened about a week later, once again it fell out but landed in my passenger seat. I brought it in to the dealership a second time and a non-mechanic wanted to glue it into its spot but I asked that it be properly repaired. I spoke with the director of the service department who assured me it would be taken care of. They fixed it and it worked fine for a little while, a few months maybe. It fell out again and I brought it in again, this time they said it would need to go to an upholstery specialist and they would have it fixed; the part was on order but about a month and I called to see what was going on. They told me they couldn’t fix it and that an engineer had to come from Dodge to check it out. While I have been waiting for a call for when to bring it in, the second rubber gasket fell out! Now I have no rubber gaskets in my moon roof.

I am intending to have the vehicle replaced or refunded at this point.

On july 22, 2014, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened pe14-022 to investigate 14 complaints (voqs) alleging incidents of alternator failure resulting in engine stall while driving in model year (my) 2011 through 2012 dodge charger vehicles.the my 2011 through 2012 dodge charger vehicles were sold with three different engine options:1) 3.6l v6 (vin8 = g), 88,766 vehicles; 2) 5.7l v8 (vin8 = t), 38,615 vehicles; and 3) 6.4l v8 (vin8 = j), 2,406 my 2012 vehicles.the 14 voqs identified in the pe14-022 opening resume involve 13 vehicles with 3.6l v6 engines and 1 vehicle with unknown engine (no vin provided).in an october 7, 2014 letter to nhtsa, chrysler described a safety defect condition that could result in rapid alternator failure having limited or no detection in approximately 434,581 my 2011 through 2014 chrysler 300, dodge charger, dodge challenger, dodge durango and jeep grand cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.6l engines and 160 amp alternators (nhtsa recall no. 14v-634, chrysler p60).the subject alternators are used in vehicles equipped with 3.6l v6 engines and without towing packages.according to chrysler, the silicone diodes in the alternator rectifier bridge may experience thermal fatigue due to cyclic loading from the electric hydraulic power steering (ehps) system, eventually resulting in no output, reduced output, or a fully shorted to ground condition.these failure modes vary in their time to failure and warning to the driver.depending on the failure mode and timing, system voltage may drop to critically low levels, disabling systems such as the anti-lock brake system/electronic stability control, engine control module/central body controller, or a total vehicle electrical system shut down (in the event of a short to ground failure mode).analysis of complaints to odi and chrysler identified a total of 146 incidents of alternator failure resulting in engine stall while driving in my 2011 through 2012 dodge charger vehicles, including 142 involving vehicles equipped with the 3.6l v6 engines (1.6 iptv) that were included in 14v-634 and 4 involving vehicles with 5.7l v8 engines (0.1 iptv), which are equipped with different alternators.analysis of all alternator failure complaints found that approximately 48 percent of voqs and 21 percent of chrysler complaints involved allegations of engine stall.many (98) complaints reported fire and/or smoke, but analysis of these determined that they involved thermal damage to the alternator diode and did not identify any incidents involving damage beyond the alternator assembly.one voq identified in the opening resume for pe14-022 alleged a crash, but further evaluation determined that this involved a minor rear-end impact with slight bumper damage.this investigation is closed based on chrysler's decision to conduct a safety recall.the voqs associated with this investigation are:10641479,10641366,10641349,10642017,10640770,10640687,10640553,10639692,10638810,10638356,10638175,10638143,10637460,10633806,10633304,10632943,10632006,10631704,10631613,10631420,10631088,10630991,10630854,10630844,10630108,10629623,10629603,10628228,10628150,10627941,10627342,10626452,10626254,10625962,10622385,10622340,10621603,10620961,10619481,10618950,10618948,10618539,10618476,10618334,10618081,10618107,10616834,10616461,10616456,10615754,10615719,10606580,10605090,10604958,10597295,10592085,10588675,10587141,10562463,10559730,10511407
