With heat on only driver side vents blow hot air and only drivers side defrost blows hot air

All this year I have been having issue with the vehicle stalling with every repair made in the book to no avail. I have now been told that Dodge is aware of the issue with the TIPM which caused my fuel pump to stop turning on, my horn to go off erratically, and my windshield wipers to just turn on when they want. They replaced some but not all of the cars with this issue in a 2015 lawsuit. Seems dodge avenger owners just are not that important to Chrysler.

Vehicle stop on highway without warning…this is the second time this has happened… 1st time was 5 months ago… it will start up after 30 minutes… mechanics ran test and could not find cause… this is a serious safety issue… I have researched and saw a recall on the 2013 Avenger… stating Faulty TIPM… what do I need to do… I saw the recall on the air bags… would this correlate with thevTIPM? PLEASE ADVISE I had an appointment to have recall completed today at the Dealership… they failed to tell me when the appointment was made… that it would take them all day and they were not able to accommodate me with a loaner… I was told to reschedule… very inconvenient

My 2012 Dodge Avenger shut down as I was coming to a stop in Jewels parking lot. I looked up this information & seen there\\\'s a recall for my issue. The car has not been able to start because no one have ever seen nothing like this & don\\\'t know what the issue is. I\\\'m looking for help in order to find out if this is the issue.

January 12th my 2012 dodge avenger wouldn\'t start after fueling up at the pump. the next day I had it towed to green dodge. Springfield Il. that day they diagnosed it was shortage in wire to fuel pump, fried fuel pump, car wouldn\'t start. they would need to order a new fuel pump and worked on it and got running that day, great! so we payed and the car was released and off I went… a month later something different happens. heading south, down Veterans Parkway headed to work 1030 am. going 45 I noticed my car goes quiet and no acceleration? that\'s odd? confused and not sure what\'s happening, I\'m slowly losing speed down to 40 mph, now I have No Power steering, No Brakes? scariest experience of my life. cautiously and slowly coasted through a red light through traffic! that was a right turn on to Ilse ave, and turned Into into a parking lot next to an office max. where I pushed the rest of the way into a parking spot. I immediately called roadside assistance and in hr or so do was able to tow it to Green Dodge again, in need of help. the next day they diagnosed fried fuel pump (again, 2 fuel pumps in a month?) well that didnt work, so their next diagnosis was faulty tipm, and when I that fuel pump repair was costly, I was wrong when I heard tipm replacement it almost double!! Now I\'m thinking shouldn\'t they have cought fought the faulty tipm room the first time! Now I\'m fed up and no running out of savings for a car I\'ve only had a year and saving that took almost that long to save! any way they ordered new fuel pump and new tipm and got the car running as designed! good! well not even 2 weeks later from the same problem my car has died again! while driving on a busy main road through town 730am, everyone\'s trying to get to work and I\'m blocking one lane! same issue car does, no acceleration, no Power steering, no brakes! I am so fed up and broke from paying for this issue!!!! My my life has been. out on thw line twice now and I have a family who gets in that car! what if it happened and I got rear ended! my 2 year old daughter sits back there! anyone who had been in my position will voucher it\'s one of the scariest experiences!

The car was surging while driving and the engine light was on. I took it to an independent mechanic and he said it was one of the four 02 sensors. He changed it, but the light came on again and it surged periodically. I took it to the dealership from where it was purchased (Ponoka Chrylsler) and they said it was a different 02 sensor. They changed it. The engine light came on the day after and has been on ever since. They said if the vehicle was no longer surging, then don\'t worry about it. It will just be an annoyance! Well it is. I cannot start my car remotely because of the light being on. Last month, I was unable to slide the passenger side window up from the drivers side, although I could slide it down. I have to reach over and use the passenger operator to slide it up. 2 days ago, I slid it down from the drivers side and could not get it back up from either side. Finally after a couple of hours it slid up from the passenger side.

Shifter stuck in park on more than one occasion.

Three months ago, this vehicle stalled out in the middle of traffic. Vehicle was towed to the local Dodge dealer for repair. Upon inspection, the dealership could not find anything problems. A month later, the same problem happen again, and I took it to the dealership for repair. Again, they said that they could not find anything wrong. The third time it happen again and it was a couple days ago, and they said the it was the Intergrated Power Module. I researched this part and found that there is a class action lawsuit against Chrysler. This part cost me 1100.00 dollars with no guarantee that this won’t happen again.

My 2012 Dodge Avenger had recall for ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AIRBAGS. I took it to the dealer and they
performed recall “N38 REFLASH TIPM.” Before this recall was done my vehicle had no problems. As soon as I
drove away from the dealer, my airbag light on dash was on, the left rear turning light and left brake light not
working, right headlight not working, right front turning signal not working. I let the dealer know what was going on
and they said I had “to bring it back in because it probably has electrical problem”. This is more than just electrical
problem, it is a SAFETY PROBLEM. After having the lighting diagnosed and inspected, I am having to pay $1250
for TIPM to be replaced for a new one. I am very upset and in disbelief that I have to pay this for a defective or
faulty TIPM module. I feel this defect of the TIPM module should be also a recall and covered by the manufacturer.

On12/30/2014while driving at approximately 70 miles per hour the battery light came on and the car lost ABS brakes, power steering and the engines rpms red lined multiple times before I was able to safely get off the highway. My vehicle was serviced by my local Dodge dealer where the alternator was diagnosed as the problem. I have contact both Chrysler customer service and the recall department as my vehicle has the same size engine and alternator as the vehicles included in the current P60 recall. I am very concerned that all vehicles with this size engine and alternator are unsafe and the current recall should be expanded or a new one issued. I do not feel as though my concerns were taken seriously when I have called Chrysler.

Yes i’m having starting issues, i got new battery and replaced starter, kept having same issues, took car back for re diagnosed no system issue found they check from front to back still no issue found, but car won’t start sometimes and i have to get a boost, please help me with this issue, it’s a 2012 dodge advenger 138 thousand miles. it happens when i stop and go places and go to get back in car it won’t crank.thanks althea

My car keeps blowing road dust out of all the vents when i'm driving down a gravel road doesn't matter the speed and it doesn't matter if the heater and a/c are on or off. when i turn on my heater/a/c it runs through the defrost, face vents, and floors vents, before it will finally settle on the area i have it set at. dodge refuses to acknowledge there's a problem and refuses to a recall. they know it stems from the heater core not being properly cleaned before installing it in the vehicle.

I have a 2012 dodge avenger with approximately 76200 miles on it. while accelerating from a stop light my transmission made a clunking sound and my vehicle would only go about 30 miles per hour but the rpms but jump up to about 7000 and stay there. i was on a four lane roadway going through a city when this happened. ended up my transmission needed to be replaced with 76,000 miles on my vehicle. transmission issues seem to be a common problem with the dodge avengers. and of course when i called dodge customer care they stated they can do nothing for me on any kind of reimbursement. transmissions should last longer than 76000 miles! very disappointed in dodge customer service team.

I purchased my dodge avenger in the month of june and it has been running fine. the only problem that i have with my car is the fact that the passenger's side blows out cold air. i was not aware that the car did that until the weather changed and it was time to use my heat. i looked online before filling out this form and it turns out that almost everyone who purchased this particular vehicle has had the same problem as well. also everyone says that they don't know why this problem occurs. i've only had my car for 4 months and everything else works fine.

Takata recall- i have a vehicle that is currently on recall, i can not safely drive the vehicle so it has been mostly sitting since october when i received a recall notice. i have been in contact many times with the person who is supposed to help and resolve the problem. i have been told that i will be awarded $40.00 a day for a rental car until the problem has been fixed and i can have my car fixed. however i can not get an appropriate vehicle for $40.00 a day. plus i can not afford to pay the money upfront to get a rental vehicle. it would be much cheaper to just have you guys pay it off. my car would of already been paid off if someone would have done so in the begining. i am write to let you know that the car is now having issues; it keeps making a loud clicking noise when it first starts as well as when it stops and periodically when it isn't even being driven. it also leaks water into the trunk when it is wet outside. i am asking once again for this car to be paid off, i can not sell or trade this vehicle and am still making payments on it. i am asking to get this paid off, if not i have contacted a lawyer and will proceed with a law suit, i really do not wish to persue this however it has been nine months and i need this resolved.

S61 safety recall is taking to long to remedy! dangerous issue that could result in death or injury!

No incident! just taking too long to fix a recall problem that could result in death of driver and/or passengers

We have 2 of the exact same 2012 dodge avengers on our lot, we are needing a recall extension and possible refund on our expenses for the vin i provided due to the fact that we have already had to replace this part on the other avenger that we have. it is my understanding that campaign: 13v552000 and mfr campaign: n52 are on all dodge avengers, so to prevent our company for paying for a part that has a recall we are wanting to extend the recall so it covers the avengers made for the year of 2013. not just the ones made after the recall that was made half way during that year.

The metal coating on all of the door handles is defective. it is peeling up exposing a very sharp edge on all handles that causes deep lacerations on hand.

Recall was never done for s6 1st occupant restraint controller. every time i call chry. about it they say they do not know when they will have a remedy.

Heater only blows cold air on passenger side. i have been told this is casing sand clogging the radiator, heater core and the oil cooler. this happens as a result of the heater core being the wrong size and chrysler fixing the issue by casting it in place. this is a safety issue for those of us who live in states where the winter gets bad. while driving in inclement weather the snow, ice, or sleet will begin to accumulate on the windshield and passenger window. the sad part is that this is the second dodge avenger i have had with this issue and on both occasions i have been told it is not covered under the powertrain warranty. the bumper to bumper warranty has expired both times before this has become an issue. chrysler needs to take ownership of this defect and fix it before it causes a death. to have this repair done costs $2500 with no guarantee that it will last.

The drivers side window regulator is not working properly. drivers side window will not go back up. electrical problems random but always while in motion. lights dim off and on. tachometer has climbed to 70 miles per hour when only doing 40 miles per hour. headlights brighten and dim. safety gauges flash off and on. there is a recall for these problems with same make and model but not my vin number. this car was purchased at enterprise in 2014. for some reason i am not receiving any recall notices. could you please explain to me why my car is not included in these recalls. thank you

Recall s61 occupant restraint control module. i was notified october of 2016 of this recall, stating the fix would be available in june of this year. my air bag light came on in january. a local autosho diagnosed the problem as the recall. the local dealership said they couldn't do anything until the fix became available in june, didnt offer to help get me into a safer vehicle. they just said nothing could be done at the time. come june, the fix was pushed till august. i'm in touch with the dealership now, and they have said that parts are on hold, and they are waiting for chrysler to release the parts. i have two young children in the car with me at all times. this car is not safe to drive, and chrysler is not fixing the problem in a timely manner.

1st complaint is the seatbelt will randomly lock and restrain you and and take several seconds to release. 2nd complaint is my driver side floor is constantly drenched with a fluid when it rains. 3rd complaint is the car shudders and vibrates when driving above 40mph. 4th complaint i was involved in a car accident and my air bags failed to deploy.

My airbag light is constantly on, i would like to know when repairs for this recall will start, i was told back in april/may it would be in july and haven't heard anything as of yet. my airbag light has been going on and off and now its just on for months

Bought a brand new 2012 avenger se with a 3.6l. the car has shaken violently at speeds above 45 mph. it has been to the dealer under warranty 6 times for the issue, and no faults we're found. the car is past it's warranty, and the dealer now wants an arm and a leg to diagnose the issue. the vibration is only getting worse and worse. the front suspension has been checked numerous times, and everything seems fine, the rear struts we're just replaced, which helped the vibration under 60 mph, however it still vibrates. car went to the dealer with 8000 miles on it due to passenger side window issues, where the dealer once again found nothing wrong. left the dealership, and the check engine light came on for an o2 sensor. the wires had been pinched so bad, that it needed to be replaced as well. we have been through 6 sets of tires in 4 years. car currently has 90,000 miles on it, and vibration gets worse every day.

Etc replacement. vehicle will jump, stall, or stutter in the middle of driving. you wont be able to push on the gas pedal for a while and will cause damage to engine and transmission.

Passenger headlight, turn signals, and brake lights not working when is started vehicle was in motion. have put 5 sets of tires on it in the 4 years owned bought new, check engine light randomly comes on car runs bad and goes to 3rpms the quickly drops to 2rpms and barely goes 40mph and radio goes crazy also happens when in motion.

While driving the car started accelerating by itself and the engine reed high. wipers come on by themselves. seat belt light stays on even when you have it on. battery light comes on periodically.

Air bag light stayed on. took car in for n38 safety recall didnot fix problem. charged$135 for diagnostic which said bad orc module. found out that dodge replaced the orc on 2011 model and the 2012 of other models but not avenger. other people complain of same defect now they want €565 to fix

Complaint regarding nhtsa recall s61: possible short circuiting for air bag deployment and there is not remedy for it. why am i driving around a car where the air bags could not deploy? this is completely unacceptable and the person who i talked to regarding the recall couldn't be bothered with it. i don't agree with this.

Nothing has happened yet with my vehicle in regards to this recall, but am extremely concerned in regards to the safety features (air bag and seat belt pretensioner) that were determined as defective by this recall. one of the primary reasons that i purchased this vehicle was due to the good safety ratings it received, so i am very upset that this is not being fixed in a timely manner. i don't feel like i should be forced to buy a new vehicle due to this recall, but without any estimate on when the parts will be available, i do not appreciate the predicament i am in where i do not have a safely drivable vehicle and am essentially rolling the dice by driving around in a death trap any time i do use it. i am hoping that i do not have to wait until a bad thing happens before i can get my vehicle repaired properly. any information and assistance would be appreciated. thank you for your time and consideration of this request to expedite the resolution of this issue.

March 12, 2017 heading south, down veteran parkway springfield il. when i noticed my car red 2012 dodhe avenger r/t turned off mid motion around 45mph. no warning!! no acceleration, no brakes, no power stearing!? no control of the car! staying calm but clueless, i was able to turn to a side road and cautiously turned into a parking lot next to office max and waited 1 hr for a tow.street name ilse ave. towed to green dodge springfield il the same day. monday, march 13 the tech diagnoses fuel pump not working, (2cd diagnosis of fuel pump failure this year. 1st time in january 2017 tech diagnosed shortage in wire to fuel pump fried the fuel pump. do they ordered the part and fixed the problem ( so they thought) now this 2cd diagnosis was new fuel pump. so they ordered the part. well the fuel pump worked but car did not run. further diagnosis by the tech from green dodge, is faulty tipm module! not the fuel pump, not a shortage in wire from previous diagnosis they did. shouldn't the tipm should have been noticed the first time. i have done some research on the tipm settlement for chrysler lawsuit for installing faulty tipm modules in thousands of vehicles and i believe this includes my vehicle here red 2012 dodge avenger r/t, and i believe green dodge took advantage of me as a valued customer as they say , my money , and my time in need of help! i have payed 1400$ almost to get this problem fixed and almost 3 months time span for same issue that should have been addressed the first time!

We hit a patch of slush and ice, the rear tires locked and the car slammed head-on into a concrete pillar. the car's bumper, grille, support bar etc were severely damaged and the car was deemed a total loss. the radiator was folded into a "v". the driver's head hit the steering wheel resulting in a concussion. the airbag never deployed. before the accident, the instrument panel was flashing on/off when we used the turn signal. the car didn't start or shut off at times. there is something seriously wrong with the electrical system/airbag.

I was informed of the recall in october of 2016 and i have just recently been told that dodge will not have a part to fix the recall until at the earliest june 2017. this is unacceptable because we have already waited five months for a fix and my wife is pregnant and we already have a toddler.

The heat does not blow hot air on the passengers side of the car. this includes the windshield, causing a safety issue as it only clears the fog on one side. dodge service shop said the issue is a known chrysler issue, requiring a new radiator, heater core, and coolant bottle. at an estimate of $2235.00. however chrysler is refusing to do anything about it claiming it is not a known issue.

Vehicle in limp mode and won't shift gears property. started after a purchase of the vehicle had no idea that this was going to be a issue until i had it for about a week and engine light came on and then started the limp mode and then driving it is very dangerous. because it won't change gear and going up a hill is impossible when it won't change gears. or speed up.. it slows down instead.

Vehicle goes into transmission limp mode out no where causing vehicle to slow down and lock into 1st gear. while doing this the vehicle is incapable of picking up speed or maintains speed safely of over 20 to 25 miles per hour. diagnostic code is p0882 on my code scanner stating possible loose pin connection or connections, low voltage to transmission control tipm ( totally integrated power module ), tcm ( transmission control module ) etc., car was in motion on highway and would not accellerate to beyond 20-25 miles per hour max as car will not upshift. after checking all connections i reset and erased code and car drove a few miles normally and shifting properly before doing same again within 5 minutes. had car towed 25 miles home at night. spoke to service tech at local dodge dealer. he stated this is a common issue with these model cars all the way thru the new dodge challenger. and myself i state this is a safety issue as you unexpectedly can not avoid slowing down and you can not speed up to avoid a rear end collision by others driving behind you

I just purchased this vehicle from 2nd owner, i live in south georgia, temperatures are mild, but need heat during winter months sometime. jheater issues - i have a 2012 avenger; the heat on the passenger side of the car stopped blowing hot air. i took the avenger in for a diagnostic test and was told that the issue was from casing sand clogging the radiator, heater core and the oil cooler. several internet forums owners report this same problem with only limited fixes for any length of time, dealer prices at $1000.00 or more. dodge should cover this defect with a recall, this is a defect caused at factory level, not owners.

This is the second time that i only have heat on the drivers side. i was told that the problem is caused by casting sand that was in the engine which causes the radiator, heater core, and oil cooler to plug up. not a cheap fix and i have seen complaints from many others with same issue. manufacturer aware of problem.

I was making a right turn onto a street coming from a parking lot. because this is a busy street there is a traffic light at this location. i had a green light to turn. another driver traveling about 40 mph or more in a pick-up truck, ran a red light and slammed directly into my driver side door. my head and my shoulder took the brunt of the impact. my collarbone was fractured at the tip where it connects to my acromion bone, and my car was totaled. none of my airbags, not even the side impact air bags, deployed.

No heat coming in on the passenger side vents. lustine dodge did a radiator and heater core flush then told me the heating core needed to be replaced and still want to charge for the flush. i have seen the heating core issue several times reported and needs to be recalled. i am also calling dodge to register complaint and fraud since they know this is an issue.

I received a recall notice for the airbags and seat belts in my avenger. they are saying that the restraints and protective equipment may or may not work properly in the event of an accident. i frequently carry my children and grandchildren in that vehicle. chrysler is saying that there is no fix for this problem at this time. they are saying that the parts are not even designed - or available, and will not be until the second quarter of next year. i am in contact with chrysler - and they have offered to pay for a rental vehicle using my credit card - and then reimburse me. however, this could go on for months and months. i do not think that they have properly notified the american public of the dangers of the failure of the safety equipment. i do not think that i should have any responsibility for providing them with my credit card to obtain a safe vehicle when i purchased the vehicle in good faith that it was safe and sound. please help me.

Heat not working on passenger-side the heat does work on driver-side chrysler knows about the problem they even have a case number but no recall yet the case number is s1207000008 a lot of people have called chrysler about this problem but chrysler is doing nothing about the problem.

The headlights flicker and dim whenever i roll the windows up and the car seems to putter at the same time, the right side of the car doesn’t blow heat when the car is set to blow heat it only blows cold air all the time, the traction control light came on a few weeks ago for no reason and won’t go away after all maintenance repairs. this car has been in and out of the shop multiple times and several mechanics have told me their is no severe issues with this car. but all electrical problems keep happening and i’ve already had to replace the alternator and jump start the battery twice. i’ve come to the conclusion of just filing a complaint on this website.

Heat and defrost for windshield does not work on passenger side. even if i scrape that side of the windshield it still frost over as i drive causing visibility to be difficult on that side. i've read a lot of reviews and this is a common occurrence on the v6 versions. this is a manufacture issue a long with being a safety concern. being able to safely see is not accessory it is essential. so many complaints with this exact issue only leads back to the manufacture. has noting to do with vehicle maintenance. this company needs to be held accountable!

Defrosters doesn’t work because heat on passenger side doesn’t work. i’ve had the actuator replaced and was told it was my thermostat, after i’ve gotten that replaced i was told it was my heater core! i can’t drive my car during rainy days because defrosters doesn’t work due to no hot air.

The passenger side blows cold air. researching i see this is a huge problem with this vehicle. i live in minnesota and in the winter months it is dangerous to drive as the windshield freezes and fogs up. visibility is decreased and dangerous!!

My car is blowing cold air out of the passage side vents, then warm on the driver's side, when i run the ac, at idle or driving. the ac now only blows cool air out the passenger side, and warm out the driver's side. when i turn the control knobs, the fan will blow high on number 1. i believe there is an electrical issue as well, when i have on the headlights, and roll down the window, the lights dim, then return to regular brightness. there is a clicking noise for about 10 seconds in the passenger side dash for the first 10 seconds, when starting the car. my best guess is heater core or actuator issues. i know that there have been numerous complaints on these cars, please recall the 2012 dodge avenger sxt plus, to fix the issues at hand. thank you

The dash board lights started flashing. my engine light came on and the car turned off the steering was not working and the brakes were pressed to the floorboard . i almost hit a mailbox . thank goodness there was no child near the school zone this has happened several times now . the mechanic says it could be the abs

Purchased 2012 dodge sxt plus at auction. recharged a/c but lose cold air after 3 days. evaluations by 2 mechanics, dye, pressure tests, shows no freon leaks. heater core is leaking and possible evaporator issue, same as what's seen in other complaints for avengers. frustrating that the heater core leak is so common on avengers, mechanics all state is manufacturing issue, but no recall on it. expensive to replace and no guarantee that it won't go out again.

Heat only only on driver side. passenger side has no heat and will not defrost in the winter time while standing or driving. windshield will freeze up as you're driving. i have had this problem for a few years. very unsafe!!!!!! will not recommend dodge to anyone nor will i buy another dodge if they do not fix this problem!

When i first week i brought the car the transmission was jerking , the driver side window wouldn't go all the way down. when i reported it to the car dealer ship they said that is was just because the car was a new car and it will go away. i'm still having the same problems i had the first day i purchase the car. i also called the dealership numerous times to get my recalls fixed . the dealer ship told me last august 2019 that they was ordering the parts for my recall and they never did.

Hello, the above mentioned vehicle, was at glendale dodge chrysler jeep, in glendale, ca, for a total of seven full days. they were trying to find out why the (horn), continues to go off either, moving or standing still. *bf they put in the following parts: (switch speed) for $50.00             (switch horn) for $127.60             (harness steer) for $158.00 plus the cost of diagnosis $195.00 after all of this i was finally told that the vehicle needs a (tipmcgw) , which i was given an estimate of $1,900, plus labor. i was told this part is located under the fuse box, and controls all the functions in the vehicle.  this does not seem to be a wear and tear part, especially where it is located, not sure why it would go out unless faulty. this is a recurring problem with the horn.  it's a safety issue to have the horn connected, because it keeps going off. it's also a safety issue not having the horn connected, while driving. can someone please help me this this issue *tr the consumer stated the horn isn't working and consumer doesn't have an additional 1,900.00 to fix the problem. *tr

The horn has a electrical shortage, which continues to honk, while driving, or standing still. your dodge jeep chrysler dealer in glendale, now tells me, that there is a short, and he knows that the switch is bad, as it continues to honk when the horn is connected. now this dealer is charging me another $900., but not sure it will fix problems. this is the worst vehicle i have ever owned, it is a death trap, waiting to happen. *tr

While driving down the street, all of sudden my horn, starts going off, i took car to meineke shop, they told me the balance inside the steering wheel was broken, two of the 3 springs were broken. ordered the part from chrysler, they put the new part in, and two days later horn starts blowing again while driving. they are still trying to repair the problem. the horn blowing while driving down streets in los angeles, calif, not good idea for health reasons. *tr

On april 7th 2020 i was driving up a hill in a residential area. when i got to the peak of the hill and i went to turn left, the car shut off and there was no power. i had to put the car in neutral and restart the engine. it started immediately. this is the third time it has happened on this hill, at almost the same time in the morning. it's always when it's cold and has been raining. in total my car has stalled over 6 times, always early morning, on a hill, and it's cold and/or raining.

The active head rest broke and deployed without warning. the inside plastic that holds the retainer rod broke, causing the headrest to deploy. the car was parked overnight in a parking spot outside my home when this occurred.

The car would intermittently accelerate with out me using the gas pedal. i learned there was a throttle control system issue. the flap inside the throttle body would not close causing the car to want to move forward quickly even in stopped traffic. nearly caused me to rear end a car in front of me. i have learned this is a known issue in the design and has been redone. very expensive repair and dangerous if chrysler knows this is a problem why not recall it?

The dealership stated that the car tire’s were check i than had to come back 2 days later because of the wheel shaking badly and making a loud noise . the dealership stated that the car had a bad wheel bearing and that they missed it . i than brought car to be fixed and was turned away because of the weather conditions which dealership was already aware of even after telling them i don’t feel safe driving the car home on the rain i was still turned away and asked to come back at a convenient time for the dealers mechanics car was swerving on high way due to tire and rain and could have caused an accident

I changed the 3 blend door actuators and i’m not still not getting heat air on the passenger side of my car, only drivers side. the dealership will not fix the problem.

I was driving 35 mph on a street when the engine light popped on and the car stopped accelerating the wheel became very stiff and the brakes weren’t working. i managed to turn the wheel enough to make a turn on a non busy street and managed to put it in park once it stopped rolling. i turned the car off for 10 minutes before starting it up to head to the mechanic up the road to the mechanic. diagnostic says catalytic converter.

The passengers side of my heater including defrosters's blows cold air. the car only has 50,500 miles. this causes the passengers side to not properly defrost and for any passenger in the car to be cold as cold air is blowing at their feet or face depending on where the control is set. this is a continued issue until i find out what the problem is.

2012 avenger se with just under 100k miles. the heat is not working. blowing cold on the passenger side and barely heating up on the driver side. after researching this on several message boards, this is due to a manufacturer issue with the heater core. i have flushed the system multiple times and it is not getting better. this issue is not due to not maintaining the car. this is a manufacture defect and i have called dodge and was not given any assistance. i feel that this should be a recall as there are a lot of these cars having this exact same issue.

Continuously no heat from any of passenger vents, including the rear vent below the passenger seat for passengers in back seat & a strong smell of anti-freeze when the heat is turned on to the point of nausea, x2 winters now, est. 62,000 miles, may have been that way at 50,000 miles when i bought it, but didn't need heat that time of the year of early spring.

The passenger side windshield defroster puts out cold air even after the vehicle has been warmed up and driven for a while. this often makes my car difficult and dangerous to drive because the windshield will not defrost or defog in a timely manner or at all.

The passenger side heat does not work. this just stopped one day around 110,000 miles. the dealership let me know that this was a manufactures defect with the heater core. the entire coolant system is being advised to be replaced. there is also a god awful ticking noise coming from behind the glove box when the heat is turned on. dodge, i am very disappointed with reading all these reviews on the exact same issues, that you all are not stepping up as a company and correcting this issue. what is it going to take? someone wrecking a dying due to the unsafe conditions that you all knowingly put us into? i will never own another dodge after this car. i will never recommend a dodge to anyone either.

Heat only works on drivers side part of the time. have found out this is a manufacturer defect with the heater core. with no heat on passenger side i can not drive my car in the winter. i can not defrost my windshield due to no heat and if i am driving in snow or freezing wet temperatures my windshield w freezes up. this has been a problem i have had since i bought the car in 2018. took it to the dealership i bought it from and found out it was a manufacturer defect. filed a complaint with dodge and was told i would have to bring the car in for diagnostic which would be charged to see what is wrong with it. have read that many avenger owners are having the same problems with no real fix by dodge. it is a heater core defect. which is over a $1,000 fix that i should not have to pay for due to it being a defect from the manufacturer.

Vehicle was serviced for airbag recalls however the light stays on constantly. not long after buying the vehicle, i would put use the turn signal and the windshield wipers would come on, they still do from time to time. i took it in for service at the dealer and they could not figure out the problem. also, from time to time, the air conditioner button will not work. the only way to get it to work is to rapidly turn the knob from side to side. it has sometimes taken up to 5 minutes to get it to work.

The front of the hood on the avengers has corrosion. chrysler replaced some of them but not mine even though it was still under the extended warranty. they said it had to be claimed the first year. i think chrysler should recall all of the hoods because they're all corroded.

Cadillac converter recall- when the cadillac converter went out the car made a horrible noise and lost power to accelerate. come to find out the pressure blew back and popped hoses of and broke the intake manifold. the flap cant open and close. chrysler said that the intake manifold was not due to the cadillac converter but teo auto macanica said it was. this is a $700 repair due to a recall! had been driving car around town all day. stopped to turn and loud noise happened. luckly coasted to blocks to house and had tow truck take to repair shop.

I bought 4 new goodyear eagle ls2 225/35r17 tires on august 08/2018 at a local goodyear store. on 05/05/2019 my granddaughter with her one year old baby in the back car seat. were approaching the freeway, while still on the entrance ramp the front tire totally blew out and disintegrated. there was less than 10% of tire left on the wheel. she pulled off onto the grass and waited for assistance from the highway patrol. there was no damage at all to the aluminum rims, as she didn't drive any farther. i have never seen a blowout disintegrate more than ninety percent of the tire. i am not an expert, but this sure looks like a defect in the tire itself. once again absolutely no damage to my aluminum rim.

In january-february 2018, my 2012 avenger rt began to experience insufficient/non-existent airflow and lack of heat to the right-side window defrosters and all passenger vents (except the front-left driver vents), creating visibility hazards and an uncomfortable driving environment for both the driver and passengers. during the following 2018 summer, the air cooling effect and window-defogging was also diminished, especially from the inexplicable reduced airflow coming from passenger vents. the heater/defroster had major difficulty defrosting the windshield and right-side front window. in early 2019, i brought my avenger to a repair shop recommended by several friends and associates, and the shop recommended a coolant system flush and inspected air blend door actuators, but those were fine. the engine also occasionally ran warmer than usual, however that may have been due to a stuck thermostat which was found during the shop's diagnostics and was replaced. the repair shop stated that the coolant/radiator/heater core flush did remove a considerable amount of sludge. the system flush also seems to be a recommended dealership service action as a "remedy." however, the coolant/heating system flush had little effect on the heating issue and the right window defroster and passenger vents still had drastically reduced airflow despite the blower and all blend doors/actuators functioning properly.

Dodge left residual machining debris in the avenger engine blocks that flows with coolant into the heater core and radiator causing the heater core to clog up and blocks heat to passenger side in the winter causing unsafe or unfit to operate in cold weather. i've had my avenger in dodge dealership where they confirm my heater core is blocked. it costs over 2k to fix this issue caused by defective or lack of dodge factory engine inspections. i've spoken to fca the dodge parent company and their answer is we should've had extended warranty even though i'm within the mileage for the factory warranty but out of amount of years coverage . my avenger had extended warranty from an outside source but that company will not cover dodge created malfunctions. the attached info shows my avenger at the dodge dealership on 03-06-2019. i also had it serviced in wichita at pr autoglass and auto services just prior to bringing it to dodge dealership. pr autoglass and services stated it is the heater core and that the problem cannot be flushed out as it has accumulated in the heater core blocking it from being professionally flushed. the residue was also evident in the radiator but flushing did remove that the best we can tell. dodge has a known issue with having left this debris in the engine blocks during the machining processes on avengers.

Ac works on both sides . when heat is turned , heat only works on drivers side. cold air blows on passengers side and on passenger side defrost. driver side heat and defroster has no issues.

I have a 2012 dodge avenger sxt plus. i have been dealing with a heating issue for about 2 years now. i finally flushed the heater core and am finding sand throughout the system. this is going to cause me to have to replace all the components. as far as i can tell this is a casting issue and should be a recall. i have samples of the sand as well if needed. if i had driven this much longer the engine may have locked up.

I purchased this car brand new in 2012. i have been driving it for about 3 years with no heat on passenger side. this causes no to little visibility on front passenger side window and the front windshield. i have paid to have some of the vendor doors replaced to no fix to this issue.

No heat on passenger side. after doing research found the issue is one of two things, 1st heater core location causing it to plug with sand, and costing 100's of dollars to have repaired only to have the same problem happen again and 2nd heater blend door not working properly. i've had the thermostat replaced fixed the problem for only a few weeks. now no heat again on passenger side.

Takata recall the dodge avenger 2012 has messed up heating systems. the left drivers side is hot, then as you go to the passenger side it is ice cold. when on the highways the cold doesnt go away. it stays cold on the passenger side the whole time. the hottest one is left of the wheel. then right of the wheel is lukewarm. then passengers left heater is cold and passengers right heater is freezing. during the winter it gets to be -20 outside. there is no way i am able to drive in that since my car wont heat up correctly. no auto shop is able to fix the issue. please issue a recall so we are able to drive in cold weather and have our heat on. please stabilize the heating and cooling system to where it is all even for every heater.

My 2012 dodge avenger caught fire under the hood while i was driving on the fwy. i could not stop the car because the brake became locked in place and i couldnt press it down with my foot. the emergency brake did not work. it was unsafe to get out of the moving car, so i was trapped in the car as the fire under the hood grew rapidly. i was able to get off at the next exit and with quick thinking, i used the curb at the end of the fwy off ramp to help me stop the car. when firefighters arrived, the entire front end of my car was fully engulfed. from my understanding, chrysler/dodge has had reapeated complaints regarding similar incidents.

Heater core failure. noticed the 2012 dodge avenger passenger side was not blowing hot air. instead the air was coming out cold no matter how much the temperature was adjusted. even after driving to destinations the heat never worked fo the passenger side. only the driver's side hot air works. took it to a repair shop and they did a flush 3 times because they said gunk can sometimes build up on those cars in particular, however it did not fix the problem. they informed me that it was the heater core that needed to be repaired. the car only has 63k miles so this is not something that a car with low mileage should experience.

Cold air blowing out of passenger side vents, when heat is coming out of drivers side. i had the thermostat replaced, the radiator flushed, the heater core checked. i replaced the heater blend door actuator and the blower motor control module and resister and still have cold air coming out of the vents.

I have a 2012 dodge avenger v6 with only the driver side heat working. upon further investigation as to what caused it there is sand partials in the cooling system from the sand forging of the motor and where there was not proper flushing of the cooling system before the assembly of the motor. it is a closed system so there is no way that sand partials can enter the system and cause that issue. dodge believes there is no safety issue with it and it is a "creature comfort", but when in face the heat defrosts the windows to enable visibility. with no heat on the passenger side of vehicle the passenger side and some of the driver side is unable to defog, defrost, or melt any ice obstructing the view of the driver. this is not a driver issue, this is a manufacturing issue that needs to be resolved.

The heating system in the dodge avengers have persistent problems. this usually involves the heater core. the heat will often fail on one or both sides. usually the passenger side fails. my heater failed in 2016, then failed again less than 2 years later in 2018. repairing the heater costs about $1200. the dodge service manager informed me this is caused by a manufacturers defect when dodge put "stop-leak" into the engines during the manufacturing process. i'm told the stop-leak breaks off inside the engine through time and destroys the heater in the dodge avenger, requiring replacement every couple of years at about $1200 for the repair. i've discovered numerous complaints on the same issue at the web site below. there is no recall i'm aware. request a recall of affected vehicles ore free repair by dodge when the heater breaks. https://www.carcomplaints.com/dodge/avenger/2012/ac_heater/heater_not_working_properly.shtml

I have a 2012 dodge avenger that has had an issue with the heater for a while now. it blows cold air on the passenger side and warm air on the drivers, cold in the middle. we have replaced the blend door actuator abs this only got rid of the clicking noise, it did not fix the heat issue. i have read several of the same complaints and would love to know why the issue has not been dealt with yet and why it's not recalled.

Two separate incidents have happened. first was in november 2018. i was driving home on a city street when the vehicle flashed the throttle body sensor light along with the check engine light and the car lost power and would not accelerate past 25mph. brought to dodge dealership for diagnosis and they couldn’t check the etc light due to it shutting off with restart of the vehicle but was told i needed a new alternator. fixed the alternator and no problems again until january 2019. this time i was driving home from work on a very busy highway and the car flashed the check engine light and died while in motion. power steering was very tight but i was able to get to the side of the road safely and put the car in park. after 4 tries of restarting the vehicle, it started back up but the check engine light is still on. i will be taking it back to the dodge dealership in hopes of finding out what is wrong, but am nervous because of what i have read amongst other avenger owners.

My heater blows cold air out of three of the four vents when the heater is turned on. for one year there was a clicking sound behind the dashboard at randoms times during the day and night if the car was on or off it didn't matter the clicking could be heard inside and outside of the car. at this time when the heater was in use, cold air would blow out of the 2 passenger vents only. as time goes on the vents are being affected one by one. i now have only one vent that blows warm air when the heat is on and the others blow cold air.

One day car cut off as soon as i got home and it never came on again got the alternator replace and battery charged up and it still will not start and the mechanic cant find the problem.

My heat stopped working on half of my car and i flushed the heater core and replaced the blend door actuators and it still doesn't work.

The defroster and heater vents only put out heat on the drivers side of the vehiclve. this is the third time the heater core needed replacement fo this same problem. cost is around $1,000 to do the repair. all have been replace by a dodge dealer. the last time repaired a service manager said it will happen again. poor design and response. dodge corporate is useless on this matter.

When using heat/defrost cold air blows from the passenger side vents. this causes passenger side of windshield to fog over when its cold outside. also, the cold air being blown from the passenger side vents will not melt/defrost ice and snow on passenger side if windows. this is a known problem with this make and model car, but didge will not stand behind the issue after warranty is expired.

Problem: heat does not come out of the passenger side vent. after a month or two, no heat at all. the heater core was replaced on this piece of junk 3 times (which fixed the problem each time). now the dealer says the part is no longer under warranty, and the dealer will not replace it for free again. this is happening to 2012 avengers. not just this one. it happened feb 2014, nov 2014, and nov 2015. i dont drive this much and now its too long since the last fix (no more warranty coverage). dodge knows there is build up in the heater core with this year/model. i should not have to pay for a manufacturers defect. it was a not a wear and tear or age of vehicle issue. i bought this brand new. this was a problem before it left the factory. i have three dodges and you can guarantee i wont buy another (ill consider if/when they make this right) please see the attached invoices from the dealer. thank you for your time. this is an issue with many many many dodge 2012 avengers. they know this.

There is no heat on passenger side, including defrost. i live in a cold climate and not having defrost to clear my windshield is hazardous. i was quoted over 1200$ to fix this and told it is a regular issue with this car. the heat on the drivers side has significantly decreased since the lack of heat on passenger side.progressively worsening problem

The hvac system is not functioning properly. when the heat it turned on, it will blow heat out of the driver's side but not on the passenger side, the air from the passenger side is cool air. this seems to be a common problem according to research i've done on the web, and most people seem to thing this is a manufacturer's defect that should require a recall.

The passenger side of the heating system malffunction, so the passaenger side windshield does not defrost and it causes a serious visibility/safety hazard during the cold season, the windshield remains fogged up while driving. i have to pull up several times on the freeway to manually scrape frost off the outside of the passenger side and manually wipe the moisture off the interior. the manufacturer is aware of this problem caused due to faulty manufacturing process which left end products that rapidly clogs and destroys the heating system. dealers who were confronted with complains admits to this. dodge avenger 2012 owners complained that they had to replace heater cores and radiators, some as early as 12000 miles and the cost runs from $1200 to $3000. the problem often reoccurs within months because either the dealer uses the same faulty parts or there is remaining residue in the system. driving in cold weather is not only uncomfortable and unhealthy, but causes a serious safety hazard due to poor visibility through the windshield. there are hundreds of complains in several auto forums. many reported to the manufacturer and dealers which are overlooked and neglected. owners who live in warmer climates don’t have this problem or these complains would of been more enormous. dodge avenger 2000,s should be recalled to fix this problem, or these vehicles should not be on the road during the cold season for safety reasons. some drivers mentioned having to have a blanket for riders in the passenger side to use while traveling which adds to the hazard. note: a date entry is required to submit this complain but this is an ongoing problem every fall and winter.

The heater in the car only emits hot air from drivers side. the passenger side blows cold air even when fully engaged. the cold air coming from heater/defroster causes windshield to ice and/or not clear, and thereby limits drivers visibility through passenger side of windshield. i have to drive slower than normal to be able to negotiate with limited visibility in winter. i therefore present a problem to traffic approaching from behind me also.

I bought my 2012 avenger in 2014 and the heat on the passenger side don't work it has been that way since i purchased it. the salesman was the one who noticed it the dealer said they would fix it, however i didn't get around to fast enough because i had to go away for the army and since i didn't get it done right away they voided the deal they made with me. here i am four years later still no heat on that side of the car. i got married and now have a newborn son at home and here it is about to be winter again and no heat and this is our only vehicle and no way to get out of the loan to purchase a different car. this is a safety concern for several reasons one being the window doesn't defrost which makes visibility close to impossible and two if my family gets stuck on the road somewhere we will freeze to death.

2012 dodge avenger act plus. stopped heating on passenger side and only defrosts and unfogs the window on the driver side. this is an apparent manufacturer defect that requires the heater core to be replaced as a remedy. i would urge dodge to do a proper re all before somebody dies due to poor visibility. this, first, happened to my car while driving at night. the window was covered in steam or fog (whatever you call it) and the blower in the dash was not clearing it for proper visibility. i'm glad i did not crash or hurt someone because i could not see. after i pulled off the road and investigated, i realized that the heat was not working on passenger side, it only blew cold air, but driver side was warm air. not ideal for cold pa winters and i should not have to foot the bill for an obvious manufacturer defect. i hope dodge will recall this and do the right thing before somebody is killed, if it hasn't happened already. there are endless complaints exactly like this. step up and fix it!

When using climate controls the air on driver side gets hot but air through the vents on passenger side remain cold. in winter the winshield will only defrost or defog one side which obscures vision on passenger side which could lead to an accident and or death as a result.

I own a dodge 2012 avenger and had some issues here and there but this is the first time the vehicle just died for no reason. i was stopped in heavy traffic on a hill, ready to merge onto the freeway. the light turned green and i stepped on the gas peddle and nothing happened. i wasn't sure what was going on so i put on my hazard lights which thankfully worked. i could tell straight away that the car wasn't even on so i put it in park and turned the key and it started up. this is an issue that needs to be addressed by dodge as it poses a major safety hazard especially if i'm in the middle of heavy traffic on a freeway.

I was on a hill about to turn onto the freeway when my vehicle turned off/stalled. i was moving about 10 miles per hour and when i went to turn right i found it difficult to move the steering wheel, at which point i realized my vehicle had stalled. this is the third time i have had this issue with my vehicle within the last year.

My cooling system is contaminated by inferior products manufactured within my dodge avenger. material/s within the cooling system fail and cause debris to build up within the entire cooling system. this material/s is a sandy like substance that blocks critical cooling and heating components that has lead to major failures of my heating system via the debris blocking the heater core from functioning. i certain that this debris is also affecting my engine's cooling function.

Takata recall i have a 2012 dodge avenger r/t. like many other avengers, the heat on the passenger side of my vehicle stopped working. i get nothing but cold air on the passenger side. i've done my research, and this is a manafacturer defect that results from bad casting that causes metal flakes to break off and fill up the heater core until it becomes so clogged that it stops working properly. a simple flush will not do the job, and the heater core must be replaced. this is an expensive repair. i highly believe that this should be a recall, due to the fact that visibility is severely decreased in winter on the right side of the car. this not only puts the driver and passengers in danger, but other vehices and pedestrians as well.

Passenger-side defroster blows cold rather than hot/warm air causing collection of condensation/frost on the windshield in the winter. this happens all the time, regardless of if in motion or stationary. i'm told it is a partially blocked heater core.

I have a 2012 avenger; the heat on the passenger side of the car stopped blowing hot air. i took the avenger in for a diagnostic test and was told that the issue was from casing sand clogging the radiator, heater core and the oil cooler. this is a manufactures defect. also the spring on the actuator door was sticking and not opening properly ..poor contact materials on the connectors for the actuators!!. it seems that over time they oxidize and develop a resistance that attenuates the signal back to the control. when the signal gets too low the control loses track of the actuator position and keeps driving the motor, resulting in clicking or broken teeth. it is tough to reach the connector contacts to clean them- the clicking goes on even after the car is off!!!! please fix!

Driver side receives heat only while defrosting window passenger side is cool air and needs additional intervention to clear window. when heating cabin area once more only driver side receives heat passenger side is cold. vehicle was in both moving and stationary positions on all occurances and starts off on city streets into highway.

Driving at 50-55 mph and check engine and other dashboard lights flashed and started losing power. pulled off to side street a few feet away. i was lucky to be able to get in center turn lane where the car died completely. power steering also was lost. we pushed car off road where it restarted about 1/2 hour later. driving home less then 5 miles it died but started again.

Takata recall" i have experienced problems with the alternator 3 times, this vehicle is a 2012 dodge avenger, the mileage that i started receiving problems were probaly 67,000 and 80,000. i have replaced the alternator 3 times, 2 times in the last 2 years. the problem started when the egine light alerted me there was a problem i then took the car to get it checked and they said that the charging system was not charging the alternator properly, then it resulted in battery issues draining the battery, if i turned my lights or wipers on or anything electrical the problem was worse. then the car stalled on the interstate, from there i was towed to a car max. there they charged me for the labor on the alternator because i had an exttended warranty at the time of this particular failure. the next incident i had to get the battery replaced and it was the alternator again after i replaced the battery. took the car to replace again another alternator failure. i was driving every time i experience problems. see also 11081233

On my 2012 dodge avenger, i have had problems with my alternator and had to replace it 3 times, 2 times in the last 2 yrs. i have gotten it checked and the warning was detected that it was the charging system, and wiring system. the first time i experienced this, my engine light came on and the car stalled immediately with almost no warning except the light pops on deceleration and stalled on the interstate. the next time i experienced it was when i was driving home from work battery light then check engine light then the next day i needed a battery but i was told at the dodge dealership that the code was for the charging system not charging properly my vin number is not one of the vins that is a recall for my car, how is this possible when i am having the same problems time after time. i see where several customers have reported for the same problems with the same make and model. why is this not a recall for my vin as well. see also 11081253

Starting in fall of 2016 the vents only blow cold air out of passenger side and lukewarm air out of driver side. the windows do not defrost and fog up constantly during the winter time while i am driving. my vision is constantly impaired during cool and cold weather. my children have to bring layers of blankets to get to school without freezing. i have to drive with gloves on to keep my hands from going numb. i have had the thermostat replaced and the system flushed but yet the problem still goes on. i was told that the heater core would need to be replaced in order to fix the problem. this is an ongoing problem and not just a one time incident. i do not have an exact date for when it happened but instead every day the temperature was below 30 since i've bought the car in april of 2016.

Ive been reading online that there are many people having the same issue i have with my car. when you turn the heater on the passenger side of the car blows out cold air. if i want the passenger side of my car to defrost i have to manually get out of my car and scrape it and even then the inside still is hard to see out of. i cant even bring my daughter in this car because the passenger side of the car seems like it is running the air conditioning in the middle of winter. there is also sometimes was a clicking noise under the passenger side dash which is the actuator. after replacing this it still does the same thing. i hear that it costs thousands of dollars to fix and i believe it is a manufacturer issue and they should resolve it.

Climate control blows cold air on the passenger side and warm air on the drivers side when heat is on and driving. engine temperature does not reach normal operating temperature when driving in cold weather. took to my local trusted mechanic and he diagnosed the heater core is plugged with debris. looked online and the dodge avenger have numerous complaints with that same issue. called chrysler group and made a complaint and got a case number. i have an appointment later this week to have it diagnosed by a dodge dealership for the record.

I have now lost the heat on the passenger side of my car 3 times. first time they did just a flush, next time replaced the heater core, and now it's gone again. this is a huge issue because it always happens during the winter! it's a complete visibility concern! not to mention a very common issue that something in the manufactoring is causing.

It started almost 2 years ago, my heat in my 2012 dodge avenger started to not work. i have had it flushed 4 times and that never helped. i have had the blendor actuartor replaced twice and that did not fix the issue. i have also replacedboth thermostats replaced twice in the last year and that did not fix the issue. it seems to be a mystery to the three mecanics/dealerships that i have taken my car to for repair on what the issue is. i have looked up multiple complaints on this make, model and year and everything shows that it is a manufacture defect/issue which is the sand/sludge in the heater core and radiator. i am a single mom of 2 children and i don't need to be driving in a car with no heat when it is 0 degrees outside. i have had this car looked at multiple times and have put a lot of money into this car. with this car only being 6 years old, this should not be having these issues. this is not a customer defect this is a manufacture defect. i need dodge/chrysler to respond and repair this issue as like i said before have put a lot of money into this vehicle (100's and 1,000's of dollars) i bought my 2012 dodge avenger brand new, it only had 4 miles on it when i left the dealership, it wasn't even paid off when i started having the issues.

The heater core has failed causing only mild heat on the driver side of the vehicle. while only cold air will blow on the passenger side. with this failure from bad casting sand removal upon manufacturing of the vehicle it has caused the thermostat to fail causing my vehicle to run far below operating temp. since the cabin space cannot receive full heat it makes for dangerous operating conditions in cold climates as i cannot defrost the front windshield. this has made operating the vehicle during winter dangerous as i cannot see while driving. the vehicle will not provide passenger side heat no matter if the vehicle is in motion or not. while in motion the vehicle will never get to operating temp nor will the front windshield defrost.

The problem started with "clicking" sound coming from behind glovebox when heat or air was turned on. would stop clicking after about 30 to 45 seconds. that went off and on for about a year. now, there is only hot air coming from the driver side vents and cold air on the passenger side when heat is on. it no longer clicks when the blower is on but only have heat to one side of the car. this issue happens regardless if the car is parked or in motion.

My heater is not blowing out hot air. i was told that casting sand was in the cooling reservoir that's causing the heater to not blow out hot air and that the casting sand will cause sludge in my cooling system. even though this is no fault of my making and this happened at the manufacturing plant dodge will not fix their mistake nor is it covered by my lifetime added care plus warranty.

No heat or defrost on passengers side of vehicle: i feel that it is a safety issue when the window has frost on it or fogs during driving. on november 20, 2017 i went to the dealership with no heat or defrost on the passengers side of car. the dealership found that the heater core was plugged. the car was out of the dodge warranty and the after market warranty i had bought with the vehicle felt it was from "normal wear and tear". doing research on-line. i have found that dodge knows of an issue with this particular engine and sand left behind during production but won't admit to it. i am headed back to the dealership again (nov 14, 2018) to report that the repair that they made last november needs to be done again, i have no heat or defrost on the passenger side and that it is a safety issue when the window has frost on it or fogs during driving.

My heat all of a sudden stop blowing hot or even warm. i am unable to defrost my car in the vehicle or keep my children and i warm and i am expecting a infant any day. i took the car in for a diagnostic test and was told that the issue was from casing sand clogging the radiator, heater core and the oil cooler. this is a manufactures defect. a flush of the radiator and heater core will not fix this issue. the cost is $1200 and i don't that kind of money right now and it is to no fault of my own. i don't know what i am going to do this winter.

Since october 2015 ive had issues with the defrosting of the front wildshield in colder weather. this reduces visability and with safely operating the vehicle. the left or drivers side gets warm but the right or passenger side blows only cold air. this does not allow the removal of ice or fog off the windshield thus not allowing you to see completely while in motion. it is a known issue with the manufacturer due to poor design and a manufacturer defect. they refuse to acknowledge and will not cover the repair. it is a very costly fix and i feel many like myself cannot afford to repair and will one day if not already cost in human life. my vehicle started with these issues at around 30,000 miles but due to time restrictiin of vehicle warranty it is not a covered repair. vehicle is now at 60,000 and issue severly affects visibility and safe operation of the vehicle. this should be a recall as it seems to be a very common issue with the manufacture on various models and years.

I have been having issues with my horn sounding while driving and took it to the dealership and they could not diagnose the problem. the horn continued to sound while driving at different times without warning and on august 1, 2018 i was driving and it was raining and my horn started sounding and i had my windshield wipers on at the time and when the horn sounded the wipers stopped working for a few seconds and when the horn stopped sounding the wipers began working again. i was driving on a city street at the time.i took the car back to the dealership and they kept if for several days and then diagnosed the issue as total integrated power module.

Takata recall my car had been having this knocking sound, and then developed this sound like something was stretching inside the passenger side. the batter light cam on but the car was ok. the next day it came back on the air conditioning came on them went off all the other lights on the dash kept coming on and off. k stopped at an auto parts store to have them check it, and it would not start all the lights on the dash were on the fritz and reset. when driving on the road it would not let me go above 40 mph and the rpm went up to like 4.

The throttle body control light keeps coming on with the abs light. had it and the sensor cleaned. two days later the same lights and the engine light are coming on.

S61 airbag recall- i've had this issues fixed twice already and i still have the issue of the standing airbag light. i've been told as long as the light is on my airbag will not deploy in the cases of an accident. i was told numerous times that because the s61 recall was completed. i should be ok, but how can i be sure when the airbag light is still on. the first time i got this item fixed it took two weeks for the airbag light to come back on. the second time i got this issue fixed it took a month or so so for the airbag light to start coming back on intermittently. i'm spending a lot more time on the road now and the airbag light is on all the time now. i've taken it in for the third time, but to a different dealership. they refused to fix the the issue, because they weren't the ones who did the first two recalls. when i as for them to provide me with something in writing incase i get in a accident and my airbag doesn't deploy stating why they wouldn't fix it they agree to do so, but i have to pay out of pocket for the diagnosis and any repairs that would need to be completed. im not sure if there are other people who have had issue with this type of recall, just hoping someone can look it to it.

I have a 2012 dodge avenger with approximately 60k miles. the heat did not work on the passenger side. i have an extended warranty and took it to a dodge dealer for repair. i was told it was the heater core. the only sign was no heat, no leaks or smells. the extended warranty company was contacted but was told it was not a covered repair, it was a maintenance issue. i only take my car to the same dodge dealer for all repairs, maintenance services, recalls, etc.. i paid to have it flushed, but that didn't work, so i had to have it replaced and paid $1100. i've read the same complaints from other dodge avenger owners. i contacted dodge several times and each time i'm placed on hold for hours and once i get through, they rushed me off the phone. how could over 100 other dodge avenger owners have the same complaint as myself regarding the heater core. the dealer explained to me this is manufacture's defect and it should be a recall. there was nothing i could have done to prevent the heater core problem. this is a safety issue. no heat on the passenger side making it impossible to see clearly through the entire front windshield.

Heat no longer blowing out of passenger side of vehicle. upon looking online, this is apparently a very common manufacturers defect with a clogging heater core, and radiator. this is due to the way the radiator and heater core were made. dodge is aware of the issue and will do nothing to address it. this needs to be a recall.

I bought the car used in 2016. since i got it there has always been a clicking noise when i turn on the heat or ac. it stops after about max 30 seconds. this winter though the passenger side now only blows cold air out of every setting you can use. the driver side is hot air. i have looked online and it seems this is a manufactures defect that has been a complaint for many people. my car will not get warm at all due to half of the car blowing cold air.

1 year ago passenger side began blowing cool air, now only blows cold air. drivers side used to blow hot air, now only blows warm air. defrost is only warm on drivers side. actuator doors have been replaced, still doesn't work. estimated price to repair >$1200 due to the heater core needing to be replaced.

No heat whatsoever. changed two blend door actuators that cost me over 100 dollars. still no heat. i have researched online and have seen many other dodge avenger owners with the same problem. it is a manufacturers problem and dodge refuses to create a recall for it. i have made several calls to dodge and they continue to deny it is a problem on their side when it clearly is. it would cost me >1000 dollars to replace a heater core or anything heat related under the hood.

Brake recall: the brakes grab or slow to stop causing it to not stop in a straight line or jump, flutter or hesitate to brake. engine recall: got car 6/2017 clinging noise, after 70,000 miles, all oil changes 1000 miles before its due, started after the 2 oil change. small of burning wire smell. (oil change 4 days go now engine light on) fuel propusion system recall: car seems to shift funny when pushing gas, struggling for gas to flow when pushing the gas.

Car blowing cold air on passenger side. took to dodge dealer. was told the heater core was blocked, i needed a new heater core and flushing would not help. was told nothing i did wrong nor could i have prevented it. only take my vehicle to dodge dealers for all work. i have an extended warranty but it was not covered. was told it was a manufactures defect. chrysler requires flushing at 104,000 mile, i have 67k miles. i had the work done. paid $1075.00. after some research, found out that the heater core in the dodge avengers goes back regularly. many owners with the same problem. contacted chrysler, said i was over my chrysler warranty. nothing they could do.

The heating in my car only works on the drive side. on the passenger side it blows cold air when the heat is on.

When starting up the defroster or the heater on the car, there is cold air blowing on the passenger's side and warm air blowing on the driver's side. i am not sure if this is the actuator or another issue. i called chrysler a few years ago to report this and was told there was no recall.

Vichle heater core leaking in 2012 dodge avenger. car runs got and a/c not working.

We received a safety recall for our 2012 dodge avenger that our seatbelts and airbags may not work in a crash. of course we were very concerned as this was our only car. when we called to make an appointment to have this very dangerous safety recall fixed, they lied and told us it would take a while for the parts to become available. we got tired of waiting and went to trade this car in for a toyota. we were shocked to hear that this safely recall was stamped with "no fix" available. dodge will not fix this issue and we lost over $7,000 in trade in value due to this "no fix" safety recall. how can these companies get away with not fixing such a dangerous safety recalls at the expense of the consumer?

For the past three years, i have been dealing with the heater only blowing warm air on the driver side of the vehicle and cold air on the passenger side. this is a little unbearable in the winter time. to offset the coldness i basically have to warm my car up for about 20 minutes with the passenger side vents closed to drive with a comfortable or reasonable temperature. upon lifting the front hood to check my antifreeze level, i noticed my overflow tank has about 1 inch of brown sludge at the bottom. after taking my vehicle to 5 different mechanics, the general consensus is this is a heating core problem that is apparently a well-known and documented issue with the dodge avenger. to not recognize this problem as a something that should be addressed via a recall is very disturbing. the cost of having this repaired is somewhere in the range of $900 to $1800. while i could "trade" this car in for another i would really prefer to keep this vehicle.

Windshield wipers will randomly stop working. issue happens when the vehicle is stationary and in motion. i was on the express way in a downpour rain and my wipers stopped working, i had zero visibility and had to pull over for 20 minutes until they came back on.

My passenger airbag light comes on an off no matter if anyone is in the seat or not. took my car to dodge was told theres no recall yet i looked up my car in front of the service guy showed him the information he told me that wasn't true i would have to pay for my car to be check. also my windshield wipers come on when they want to yet there's a recall for that as well an service continue to say the information not true. do they just not wont to fix it. both are so to the totally integrated power module (tipm) , which is a control modual that needs to be replaced.

Airbag light comes on intermittently. dealership corrected problem in august 2015 and it came back on june 2016. was told the work will not be covered by dodge. i looked up a recall for 2012 dodge avenger air bags but was told this recall does not apply to my vehicle. occurs when car is stationary and in motion on all terrains. light will turn off occasionally and then turn back on.

Consistent intermittent failure of driver's headrest airbag. service center cannot determine a fix. issue occurs when vehicle is in motion or stationary on all road types and weather.

Poor heating system performance. sludge builds up in the cooling system and restricts coolant flow to the heater core causing loss of heat in the passenger compartment. loss of heat also effects the ability to de-ice or prevent ice and snow build up on the windshield in cold weather operation. this can create a hazardous condition as visibility is greatly reduced. chrysler group llc has no cause for the sludge formation. the only resolution is to replace the radiator, oil cooler, heater core and radiator cap after completely flushing the cooling system. this is to be done at the owners expense and can cost over $2500.

Knocking sound coming from passenger side dash, found to be air blend door. knocking occurs intermittently before, during, and after engine start. vehicle has also lost heat to the passenger side, due to buildup of "sludge" in the heater core. the loss of heat to the passenger side creates the in-ability to de-frost/de-fog windshield and could pose a safety risk to driving conditions in low temperatures or high humidity. currently customers are being asked to pay a cost ranging from $1,200-$2,000 to replace the heater core, coolant flush, and blend door replacement. issue seems to be related to powertrain manufacturing (where else would sludge/debris come from in heater core?) but this issue is not being covered under warranty...

I took my car to the dodge dealership to be diagnose because of windshield wiper not working properly. when wipers are turn on they would randomly stop out of no where then take several seconds sometimes minutes before coming back on, the diagnostic came back internal short in tipm. i've noticed in many research online there has been many recalls and problem regarding tipm from dodge, jeep, chrysler. also i've had shortage in my power window not wanting to work but will eventually start again and air bag light is on all those could be related to the bad tipm. the first time i'd noticed the windshield wiper not working i was driving home from work on a raining night on the park way doing 65mph with a semi truck in front of me then out of no where the windshield wipers got stuck in the middle of the windshield i could not see because it was raining kind of hard so i had to drive 20mph with my emergency flashes on because i was less then a half of mile from my exit then i pulled over at the first store off the exit. the other scenario with the windows not rolling down i was on my way to the doctor my driver side window was down when i pulled up to the parking lot it wouldn't roll back up after i left the doctor i got home 5 hours later i decided to give it another try it was working find. my air bag light has been on for about 4months now and i've notice there's been recalls on my vehicle about the air bag.

Car has only 50,000 miles and have had to replace rack and pinion seven months ago. now the clock spring is bad in steering resulting in borrowed time for air bag. so, if we do not replace this for the cost of $500, my air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident, resulting in possible death. this issue needs to be looked at as soon as possible with dodge avengers (2012). there should be no reason my steering wheel should have this many issues starting at 35,000 miles and still continuing. if an air bag does not deploy upon impact and myself, or my child, or someone dies as a result of the faulty clock spring and air bags, it will not be a very good situation. this issue needs to be looked at immediately. my car is currently at the dodge auto shop and i purchased an extended warranty from mastertech when i purchased the vehicle, but apparently, my warranty does not cover air bags. this is something i feel that needs to be covered on all warranties, people's lives are worth covering. please look into this safety issue with my car, and others as soon as possible. thank you. *tr

The air bag warning light illuminated. few days later began hearing a clicking under the dashboard behind the glove box. received notice for recall. due to location nearest dodge dealership is 2 hours away. decided to wait. a short time later, the car began to lose power briefly intermittently. once again, due to location decided to wait. two days ago the car stalled completely while traveling at 45 miles per hour. no steering, no brakes, nothing. scared me. trying to find someone locally to look at it. today it died in the middle of a very busy intersection. once again, coming to the intersection the car dropped below 1,000 rpms and then dies.

My airbag light came on and i took it in for service and the light went off but now its been back on for months and also the passenger window has not been working, its been stationary and i was out of town when it happened.

Ever since i purchased this vehicle brand new it has had issues with the shift points. i was told multiple times by hatch dodge in show low az that the vehicle didn't shift right because it was learning how i drove and that it was my fault. when they re-flashed the transmission software the shift points changed dramatically back to stock condition which resulted in very predictable, smooth shifts. once you have driven the vehicle over 200-300 miles the vehicle would start to "re-learn" your driving habits and the shift points of the transmission would begin to get sporadic again. dodge corporate told me that they have no fix for this and that again, it was my fault because of how i drove the vehicle. our local dealership confirmed that if the vehicle was either driven like a hot rod or very slowly all the time that the shift points may be consistent but with variable driving habits (i.e. city and highway driving) the shift points would also vary and you cannot predict them. i think that 2012 dodge avengers also need to be investigated along with the other vehicles in this class such as the dodge charger and chrysler 200 as they came with the same engine/transmission combo

The heater is blowing warm air from the drivers side but cold air on the passenger side. i took it to a mechanic and he said he thinks the heater core is blocked. i have looked at other complaints with the same exact situation and have come to find that it is a manufactures defect. my passengers freeze and the front window only defrosts on the drivers side causing poor visibility on the passenger side. the average cost to repair is around $1200 and i don't think car owners should have to pay that kind of money on an issue that was caused by the manufacturer. i would think that it would cause further damage to the engine if certain parts are not receiving coolant.

I have continuosly been having problems with my brakes and rotors, engine stalling while driving, and the lock to my drivers side door isnt working properly. i have had my brakes and rotors repaired three times within a 4 month time frame. this is ridiculous. i dont know what kind of mechanical meltdown this vehicle is having. but some needs to provide some answers.

I was in accident the brakes failed during hard braking. i hit the brake pedal so hard i bent the pedal assembly. the seatbelt restraints didn't lockup and threw me forward so i hit my head on the roof line the point of impact was the sun visor. the airbags did not deploy and i hit the steering wheel with my chest. i hit the car in front of me when the brakes failed the car keep rolling to the point of impact with the cadillac escalade my car went under his bumper so the car had to dive down just to roll under his car. the driver in the vehicle was not hurt. i would up with a small concussion and my right foot is still in pain.

While driving on the interstate doing about 65mph at 5am, i disengaged the cruise control on my vehicle, my car all the sudden turned off and lost complete power, including steering, brakes, and acceleration. the key was still in the on position. this is a major safety hazard! had i not been able to coast and engage the emergency break, i would have crashed and most likely suffered serious bodily injuries or death. this is the third time this has happened to me and i have read this has happened to others already as well. the entire electrical system failed because my engine turned off as well as the dashboard completely went dark to include headlights, turn signals, and the hazard lights. my vehicle has stopped in motion all the sudden for no apparent reason two times in one week. i made an appointment with the dealership to get the vehicle diagnosed but i am still afraid to drive to the dealership because it may happen again while driving either on the highway, interstate, or on any street. i am not 100% certain what caused the vehicle to turn off while in motion 3 times already in one week but it has created a major safety hazard for myself and other motorist on the highway/interstate. i believe it has something to do with the electrical system or engine because the lost of complete power is what occurs each time.

I was driving in the fast lane on the freeway at about 64 mph. another car, who was driving faster than i was, was in the carpool lane to my left. he slammed into my car on the driver side passenger door and tire. i then slid down the freeway almost sideways while i watched his car roll over 3 times before sliding to a stop. none of my air bags deployed. i hit my head and left shoulder, twice, against the window and the hard plastic part by where the seatbelt comes out. i was lucky and walked away with a concussion, severe neck pain, and back pain. the other driver was arrested for a dui. i am very concerned that the airbags did not deploy. good lord! how hard do you have to be hit?

Driving car down i-20 on a clear day. when all of a sudden the windshield blades came on and stayed on for several minuets., this happened several more times. dealer said there was no problem, because they could not see a code. several months later it was storming and you could vaguely see several yards in front of you. then with out warning wiper blades cut off. if somone else would have been around i would be dead.

Orc module is defective after dealer diagnostic check. airbag light on continuously. i feel that this module is defective as it is in 2011 models, etc. this car has a build date of 10-2011 so it probably has the defective orc module just like in the 2011 recall notice. there are many complaints filed now and dodge should be taking care of this for these 2012 avenger models. dodge states that my complaint will be reviewed internally but failed to provide me with follow up contact info. i could tell that they just wanted to end the conversation and not pursue it. so when do these complaints get reviewed? when people get seriously injured or death? now i drive this around with no air bag function, wonder why they even upgraded software for the tipim head restraints recall.....still don't have air bag function.

The vehicle is in good running condition. the only problem that i have is that it keeps making this "knocking" sound coming from behind the glove compartment. its starts as soon as you turn on the a/c and it keeps making that sound periodically. even when the vehicle is off and the key is not in the ignition.

Received a recall notice for nhtsa 13v-282 for the active head restraints. that is not the concern with the vehicle. the airbag light has remained on and was advised that the wiring needed to be repaired. this is a major safety concern and is not covered under warranty with the manufacturer. just outside of the warranty and nothing was done to cause this to happen.

Driving down owen k garriott to take my dog to the vet and battery light came on and my car started slowing down and i saw jackson's on the left side of the road so i pulled in their and they hooked my car up to some kind of test that took an hour and gave me a ride to the vet.when i got back to jackson's i was informed tha 5tit was my battery and they had changed it.well went to leave and a while after i was driving battery light came on and i was going to hang out a friends and when i went to leave my friends my car was dead.so i left it parked overnight there and the next day came and jump started it and was able to get it to my house.this was the 4th of july weekend and nothing was open.so monday i called baker's alternator and they said to get it in.my car would not hold a charge and i had to have it towed.they said it was unusual that a car with this low of mileage to have alternator problems but they did their checks and found it to be that both my pulleys on the alternator to be worn out.it cost me $196.00.

Took my car to dealer for recall notice a few days before my airbag light came on when i was at dealer they said that the orc module needed replaced i noticed in my recall notice that it was to be replaced in 2011 model but not 2012 please see below : for 2012 and 2013 model js vehicles: the totally integrated power module (tipm) must be reprogrammed. for 2011 model js vehicles: the occupant restraint control (orc) module must be replaced. for 2011 and 2012 model ka vehicles: the occupant restraint control (orc) module must be replaced. for 2011 model kk vehicles: the occupant restraint control (orc) module must be replaced. for 2012 model kk vehicles: the totally integrated power module (tipm) must be reprogrammed. i believe this part also should have been repaired

Last week the airbag warning light came on while the car was in park.we took our 2012 dodge avenger to the dealer for a recall on an airbag problem. the dealer "flashed" or updated the tiom. the airbag light remained on. they say we have a faulty internal orc( occupant restraint controller) module.this is a recalled part on the 2011 but apparently not the 2012 at this time.

While driving home with my pregnant wife at night, car all of a sudden stalled. after coming to a complete stop, car was put in park and restarted. go out and inspected car even looking under hood. nothing looked out of place so restarted car. check engine light came on but car made no unusual noises and drove the last mile home with emergency flashers on. car stalled once again one block from our home but again restarted. took it to the dealership the following business day for a diagnostic where i was told it was the crankshaft position sensor and was not covered under the powertrain warranty. total cost including labor to replace sensor was $224. this is a major safety issue. thankfully my pregnant wife was not on the highway during heavy traffic. i called dodge to inform them of the problem and they documented but didn't seem very concerned with issue. again, stalling on a busy highway can result in a major accident

A knocking noise every time i turned the ac or the heater. the knocking noise keeps going even when the car is off. *tr

When i turn on heat or air it make a on going noise while on. when air is on it makes ongoing noise and leaks water underneath glove compartment. *tr

Driving home from work at 5:40 pm, 3 deer ran out and after slamming on brakes the last one was struck, head on. the hood buckled and the entire engine of the car imploded in flames. no airbags went off and the car immediately died. i was able to pull car over to the side of the road and get out of car however, the car burned completely. the car engulfed in flames and the engine, windows, entire inside, everything burned. there is no dash, no steering wheel, seats, front tires, etc are gone. there is very little left and the manufacturer had an investigation done and will not tell me why this happened. my husband has a 2014 avenger and we want to know if it is safe. but were told my manufacturer representative they would not tell me because they would not want it out in the public. *tr

Hit a deer at 60 mph the car started on fire and completely burned up no air bags went off dodge investigated but will not tell us why the car burned up. *tr

My 2012 dodge avenger had recall for electrical system, airbags. i took it to the dealer and they performed recall "n38 reflash tipm." before this recall was done my vehicle had no problems. as soon as i drove away from the dealer, my airbag light on dash was on, the left rear turning light and left brake light not working, right headlight not working, right front turning signal not working. i let the dealer know what was going on and they said i had "to bring it back in because it probably has electrical problem". this is more than just electrical problem, it is a safety problem. after having the lighting diagnosed and inspected, i am having to pay $1250 for tipm to be replaced for a new one. i am very upset and in disbelief that i have to pay this for a defective or faulty tipm module. i feel this defect of the tipm module should be also a recall and covered by the manufacturer. *js

Air bag light stays on. took it to a dodge dealer and they did a recall active head restraints recall. light is still on. so i took it to a mechanic and had them do a diagnostic on it in the code is b1c1a something to do with the wiring under the seat to the head restraint. took the car back to dodge and they said its not on the recall. my car has never been in a accident, this is a fault with dodge wiring system . call main dodge office they say they want fix it. this is a error with the air bag system and wiring.i can't get my inspection sticker with this light on. *tr

I recently was in car accident and my air bags never deployed. i checked into this with chrysler company. according to them there was a recall, but i never was notified of the recall. my car is sitting in fingerlakes collision body shop untouched because of liability issues. chrysler took my information down but has responded with my complaint. my complaint number with chrysler is [xxx]. the body shop number is 315-568-6390. My 2012 dodge avenger sxt is having wiper and ac problems. my wipers go on and off by its self this been going on for the past year i've taken the car to two dealerships and they told me there was nothing wrong with the car. i have videos of the car locked and the wipers are going off by its self. when driving in acclimate weather the wipers will stop working. the ac have began making a clicking noise while turned on or off. not sure what's causing the noise. the noise began after taking it to the dealership to do a re-wiring for the wipers. *tr

Without cause, the airbag light came on. after investigating the issue, i find that my car had a recall for the tipm, which was not done. i then had the tipm reset, however it did not turn the light out. then i had a diagnostic test done that came up with a code of b2208, which of course warranty doesn't cover. this module should be replaced by chrysler for the 2012 avenger as well. *tr

I was in an car accident recently where i know that my airbag deployment was delayed when the collision occurred. due to the upper left side of forehead striking the steering wheel the moment the vehicles collided and then after a very short moment my steering wheel airbag deployed. knocking me unconscious for 5-10 seconds. where i was later diagnosed with a concussion in the er. which i am still currently suffering from. *tr

While driving down the interstate this vehicle's power steering and anti lock brakes stopped working and the vehicles rpms were as high as could be measured by the vehicle. this issues made it very difficult to navigate the vehicle off the roadway safely. the vehicle had to be towed to the nearest dealership and the alternator was diagnosed as the primary issue. the concern with this vehicle is that it has the same size engine and amp alternator as the chrysler vehicles that are already under recall for alternator failure 3.6l engine with a 160 amp alternator and the dealership repairing this vehicle states it is the same type of failure. i am concerned that this vehicles alternator should also be recalled as it poses a danger to the people driving it and any other vehicles on the road near this vehicle when this failure occurs. *tr

The vehicle is producing heat/defrost on the drivers side but blows cold air on passenger side, causing the defrost not to work on passenger window. after the mechanic and extensive research i have found several others with this same issue on this make and model. it appears that in the manufacturing of the vehicle something was done incorrectly causing sludge to build in the radiator and the heat core. i have read casting was not done properly, also read problems with the radiator so adjustments were made. i cannot say what the problem is only there is a problem. most cars i have researched have 20,000 to 30,000 miles and this vehicle very well could have had this problem at this mileage also. we knew the passenger side didn't defrost well but only found the heat blew cold this winter. *tr

My air bag light came on december 16,2014 i reported it on december 18,2014. i took it in to be fixed on 12/21/2014 but my airbag light is still on due to the fact that he said the occupant restraint control module needs to be replaced. i feel this is a defect and should be part of the recalls. how do i know that he reprogrammed it if the light is still on. also my trunk holds water when it rains and the water comes out of the latch once it is held up. i feel that dodge should hold up to its product and repair all problems. *tr

The air bag light came on one night as i was parking the vehicle. i looked up the recalls on my vehicle, took my vehicle in to be repaired and the light is still on. i was advised that it is the airbag module and it is not covered under the warranty or the recall. upon investigation, there are similar complaints with the same issue for this make/model. *tr

The throttle body on my car has to be replaced. my son has had numerous incidents of the car running rough, seemingly not getting enough gas, and the final straw before taking to the shop was when it the engine died as he was driving. this car is only three years old with approximately 62,000 miles on it. it is not at all acceptable for this part to go bad given the age / miles of the car. after speaking with several shop owners and technicians, i've found that this has been a common failure on late model dodge vehicles. in addition the throttle failure, he has no heat coming in the passenger side of the car. only cold air as if something is stuck open. this began the later part of last winter when the car was just two years old. he just dealt with it at the time due to lack of money. with winter coming, this will need to be addressed right away as well. then we have the power mirror not working on one side. which also began last year. and last but not least, the airbag light is on. i did see that there is a recall having to do with one of the airbags. i will schedule that right away, but it remains to be seen if that is why the airbag light is on. *tr

Lack of heat in the car. the system was flushed and found a huge amount of sludge build up due in the heater core. the windshield would not defrost enough for the car to be driven. we had a family emergency and could not drive it. the system could fail during a drive cycle of day with extreme cold weather and put my family in danger. dodge has admitted it was due to a casting problem. i can not sell this vehicle or i will be upside down in the value. the cost of the fix at the dealer ship is over $1200. *tr

While driving through the mountains in maryland,i applied the brakes and the entire car shuddered. the rotors were apparently warped and the car was difficult to slow down or stop. the more the brake temperature increased the more difficult it became to slow the vehicle down. most of the mileage on the car is highway or country roads, as i live in a suburban area. the brakes still act up in flat areas just not as bad as they did in the mountains. i have a six speed 2.4l, 4 cylinder in the avenger. before and after having the transmission flushed the transmission would downshift hard between 3rd and 2nd gear and 2nd and 1st gear. when i backed out and put the car in drive, if you didn't wait for about three seconds prior to accelerating the transmission would slip then bang into gear a take off. the entire transmission was rebuilt but you still have to wait for it to lock into drive before taking off. the transmission was rebuilt with 36,000 miles on it. *tr

While driving on a two lane highway driving in the left lane doing 60 miles the vehicle suddenly turned off creating the following to stop working. no brakes, gas pedal would not work, steering wheel locked up, unable to turn on hazard lights. i was able to turn the steering wheel to the right enough to move into the right hand lane and to the side of a very busy freeway, (very scary ) the chp came and had me wait for about 30 minutes the chp officer then got into the vehicle restarted the car, put in gear to make sure the brake would hold out and then escorted me off the freeway at the speed of 30 miles. then had it towed to the nearest dealership for repairs.

Will not shift into drive until speed reaches 45 - 50 mph. can not accelerate over 4000 rpm at any time. unable to pass other slow moving vehicles at a reasonable speed. have taken the vehicle into the dodge service center, explained what was happening, and was told "nothing is wrong with it because there is no sensor light on"

I noticed several times before this date going down the hwy and the car accelerating on its own. i was at a dead stop and go on the hwy rush our i let off the brake to ease on up and my car went under into a truck doing over $7800.00 in damages no airbags none deployed i just got my car from the shop on 8/30. i got in the car started it and backed up put the car in drive and it jolted into drive no foot on the gas peddle i had to hit my brakes again then i proceeded home. still noticed this a couple more times. i didn't think about it at the time of the accident i was taken straight out by ems with a neckbrace. i've sit here confused for 2 months knowing how did this happen knowing it was a brake ease off and brake again traffic and the amount of damage done to the car. my 14 yr old daughter had to convince my mom i was not speeding because of the amount of damage. i will call the shop again on mon am but also dodge or chrysler re: this. i had to pay out over $4k in car rental (no i didn't know i did not have that coverage.) i'm now pissed off and confused at did this cause the collision? i've only had this car a year and until that point had never had an accident my fault in m life i did have one this last week in a rental it was my fault i own up to that but not the first in the avenger after starting it again yesterday at pickup and this immediately happening and i mean immediately happening again had the shop not already being closed for the weekend and my ride left i would have left the car at the shop. i know of the overhead airbag problems i have tried to call once before. i will call monday until my calls are returned please reply to this. i am also contacting my insurance agency re: this problem and the accident. please contact me. I received a notice about a safety recall of the active head restraints in my vehicle on 03/13/2014. as i went and researched the information the recall was first sent out in july 2013. i purchased my car in april 2013 and have been to the dealership each time for my scheduled maintenance and was never notified about the recall. i have been driving this vehicle for months with my family, putting out safety at risk. based on the recall it states "federal regulation requires the recall notice must be forward to the lessee within 10 days, which was failed to do. *tr

It has a manufactures defect in the rear end it has been into the dodge at least 10 times for this problem dodge has sent a technician to champaign to look at this problem and he told the mechanics it was a manufactures defect with the rear end and their was no fix known. we have has to have the undercarriage tightened on the car four times because of how the car handled and vibrated it actually loosens the undercarriage we have put roughly 10 to 12,000 miles on the car when we got the car it had new tires on it we have had to replace the tires already because they go out of round because of the car and of the way it handles the dealership i bought it at has a new owner now and he wont return my calls and we were told not to bring the car back there anymore i am a 100 % disabled veteran and i need a car to get back and forth to medical appointments i want the car fixed the car could be a death trap the way that is now i know dodge doesn't care but i hope u do my case number with dodge is 24303490 i do call them i want the car fixed the vehicle has a manufactures defect in the rear end and dodge doesn't know what to do about it so their hoping i will go away and hopefully it will be out of warranty so they don't have to do anything about it i talked to mr. long yesterday about this yesterday and i told him i would have this sent to you today if you need to reach me please call me anytime. *tr

In late june got a flat tire. when i went to put on the spare noticed both rear tires had worn thru the steel on the inside shoulder. took to a local dealership and they told me must be the alignment. car was just under the 1 year anniversary date but just over the mileage for the warranty. i had to pay for an alignment and new tires. alignment showed three of the wheels in spec and the fourth .03 degrees out of spec which the dealer said wasn't enough out to cause that bad of wear on the tires. contacted chrysler but no help. went to oregon in november and got just north of where i was going and stopped for a break and noticed both rear tires were wearing on the inside shoulders like before. took to dealership another alignment and set of tires that i had to pay for. alignment was out and had to have camber kits installed to get alignment fixed. once again no help from chrysler yet. on my way home from oregon went thru a snow storm, not a lot of snow mostly blowing snow across road. couldn't go over 32 mph because the rear of the car was swaying so bad. could hardly keep car on road. took in to local dealership and they said they need to do another alignment at my cost. contacted chrysler once again no help. first set of tires 13400 miles, second set 21400 miles now on third. waiting for 12/9/13 to get car into shop. *tr

Upon starting the car it bucks and hesitates also backing into traffic bucking still and issue...dodge has been notified numerous times directly from the bbb and nothing has been resolved thank you!!

I have had several problems with the acceleration of this vehicle the dealership replaced the transmission and several sensors due to bucking and hesitations. this never resolved the situation it still bucks when its moist or rains i was told by the dealership that this is a characteristic of this particular model. *tr

There are 3 members of this family, usually only 2 are in the car at all times. this time, we had 2 extra passengers in the back plus their car tire that needed repair in the trunk. we were driving and hit a dip in the road, not a big one, and the rear passenger side tire rubbed against the car. it is not the shocks because they are not there to hold up the car, only to absorb the shock. the tire has markings left behind where it rubbed. that is a suspension issue. i have only had the car 4 weeks. the salesman tried to convince me it is a normal thing on all vehicles. i wasn't born yesterday. *tr

Vehicle was purchased new on january 28,2012. the vehicles tires wore very fast and the front tires had to be replaced within 15,000 miles. on may 6,2013, both tie rods had to be replaced at 25,000 miles. the vehicle is at 30,000 miles and will have to go back to the shop due to strange noise while steering. *tr

Vehicle was purchased new on may 29,2012, vehicle was one of three avengers purchased. the other two have had the same problems. on november 28, 2012 at 12,940 miles both front tires worn completely down. on january 15,2013, at 16,892 miles the entire rack and pinion had to be replaced. on january 30, 2013 at 17,365 miles , two sensors had to be replaced. on january 30, 2013 at 17,365 , both front ties went bald and had to be replaced. on april 30, 2013 at 25,597 miles, both lower tie rods had to be replaced. on june 21,2013 at 29,526 miles the entire engine went out and has yet to be replaced. *tr

The only problem i have is that the engine sounds like a pea thrasher when its started on cold morning. (it sounds like a lifter that has lost its prime). also, the transmission shifts hard, surges (over revs) when coming to s atop, and at times when its down shifting while going down a hill, it slams into lower gear.. there are additional body sounds that i haven't addressed yet. i was told by mechanics and service tech's that this was a common sound from my size engine. the have ran updates, yet the noises are still there. i mentioned that at idle with the headlights on, if i was to power any of the windows, the headlights dim and then engine drops from approximately 950 rpm to below 500 and stalled the engine. ... updated 04/11/13 *bf

After driving the vehicle on a short 10 mile drive i parked the vehicle for approximately 45 minutes when i came out and attempted to start the vehicle at which point the vehicle did not start the battery had a full charge and the gear selector indicator on the dash board lit up all gears i attempted numerous times to start the vehicle with out success after trouble shooting i disconnected the negative cable to the battery and left it off for a few minutes and then reconnected it and attempted to start the car which did start at that point i took the vehicle in to my nearest dodge dealer and dropped it off at the service department the response from the dealership was that they were unable to verify the issue and they promptly called me back and returned my vehicle with no issue found, on the second time i took it in on 2/13/13 for same issue with the vehicle not starting they kept the vehicle again for a day and found no issue but the did reprogram the pcm as per tsb 18-023-12 but again when picked up they said there was no real issue the vehicle is less than a year old and has been in twice for the same problem my concern is that it might happen while im driving or while i am far away from home. *tr

Transmission will get stuck into a gear and not shift. vehicle was taken to dealership for repair. after 1000 miles, transmission again malfunctions and towed to dealership for repair. second malfunction very similar to first, but i was not able to even drive the car after the second malfunction. car seems to be stuck in a higher gear that will not allow me to get started from a full stop. this is a new avenger with 3.6l pentastar engine. *tr

I was on my way to work and cautiously preceded around the curvy road with my steering wheel held to the right. when i ended the curve and tried to turn my steering wheel back too the right it wouldn't turn back to the left. this caused me to crash head on into a tree. the air bags were deployed. *tr

The power steering fluid is leaking, the resevoir was completely empty and i had all the fluid all under the my car and the steering wheel is almost impossible to turn.. i live five to 10 miles from the dealership, so i went to gene's dodge of fairbanks on 11/27/2012 at 5:30 pm alaska time. one of the mechanic came to look at my car and when i started to he knew just by the sound it was to power steering resevoir was completely empty and noticed that there was also a leak. i made an appointment for 12/06/2012 and was top off with atf+4. the next day i went to work no issues, it wasn't 3pm on 11/28/2012, my car was making the same noise and when i checked and saw that my power steering was out of fluid again so when i refilled it it took a whole quart. i called the dealership right away and took the car to them and got a rental covered under my warranty. the next day on 11/29/2012 i pick up my car and was told that the power steering hight pressure hose cracked and was replaced and that this is a common problem and that is why they keep the part in stock also that they will see me before winter is over. on 11/30/2012 from 9am i am to work a 24hr shift and so i drove to work no issues, however, between 9am on 6pm all my fulid from my power steering tank was gone and so i put some more fliud in because the steering wheel locked up and would not turn. as i went to turn the wheel to get the fluid flowing i retuned to hood to close it and as i was putting the cap back on the tank i heard the noise again as if the tank was enpty and as i look the poweering tank was empty and all the fluid was on the ground, any reasons why this may have happened other then it was -30 to -35 degrees over the night? *tr

I just bought my 2012 se a few months ago. i've noticed some rough shifting with my 4 speed transmission, particularly when downshifting at about 25-50 mph. the feeling from the transmission almost seems like the transmission is stumbling down the gears, rather then a smooth downshift. the rough downshift is very noticeable and irritating. of course with this being a brand new car i was concerned about the tranny and took the car back to the dealership. they gave me the standard "we can't find anything wrong with it" routine and claimed that they did a reflash on the trans. since i took the car to the dealer i haven't noticed the shifting issue as frequently, but it is still happening. i wish i got the 6 speed one to see how it supposed to ride. *tr

07/07/12, 16,214 miles: vehicle went into service department for 16000 mile routine maintenance, to include: lube, oil, filter; tire rotation; air filter; inspect brake linings; inspect exhaust system; and inspect the front suspension, tie rod ends and boot seals for cracks or leaks and all parts for damage, wear, improper looseness or end play. it was discovered during that routine service that the goodyear eagle lsii tires on my car showed signs of sidewall separation. tires were replaced at owner expense, 07/10/12 at 16,463 mileage. following the tire replacement (one week later) heard a popping in the front suspension (that was just inspected on 07/07/12), called dealership to take it in for diagnosis/repair (went in 07/19/12 at 1:30pm). was sent home, in affected vehicle, stating that the mechanisms in the steering box was the source of the noise. was told at that time the vehicle was safe to drive, no loaner would be provided. the parts were on back order, and an appointment made for 07/30/12. called the dealership on 07/28/12 to confirm parts arrival and service appointment for 07/30/12: during phone call, matt from the service department stated that the parts had not arrived yet, therefore would not be available for the scheduled appointment. cancelled the pre-scheduled appointment and said they would call when the parts arrived. when asked about the safety of driving the vehicle, he stated "we would prefer you not drive the vehicle until we can get it fixed". again, asked the dealership for a loaner/rental, as this is a warranty covered repair and was refused. in driving the vehicle from the 7/19 appointment to present day, the popping on the front end can be felt in the steering wheel. the steering has become looser and less responsive. not to mention the potential of damage on brand new tires from having the suspension messed up. *js

I was making a u turn and the car stalled, it was still on drive gear but as i pressed the gas pedal nothing occurred. the steering wheel was locked as well as the braking pedal. i put the shift back in parking gear turned off the car waited a couple of minutes then tried to turn it back on and it started working again. *tr

When stopped on hill then let foot off brake letting car coast the transmission will drop on low gear shuttering car making loud noise, noted this also while driving transmission will shutter causing some loss of speed. *js

My 2012 dodge avenger has continued electrical problems, the first is the front driver and passenger windows. they won't roll down or once down won't roll up. second my interior lights will all of a sudden turn on by themselves and flicker, third, flickering. i have tried replacing these possible broken parts but it hasn't fixed the problems.

Vehicle wont start at times has a red lightning bolt all gauges work just wont start until jumped. also when using the heater heat on drivers side and cold on passengers side.one is the anti theft wcm and the other is a heatercore that dodge has known about this problem since 1999 models

I was on the highway going 60 mph all of a sudden my etc light started to flash and my car started to slow down, my car would not go over 10 mph. it was very difficult for me to get in a safety lane. i almost got rear ended a few times, i was very scared. i did some research and found that this problem has been going on since the production of this vehicle. there are tons of complaints online about this vehicle, some of the vehicles have low mileage and some don't. it is a very dangerous situation to be in. i think chrysler needs to own up and recall this throttle body!

No heat on passenger side defrosters i warm car up for 10 min. driver side clears but passenger side is still frosted over it takes about 15 miles to finally clear off. *tr

13400 miles on car when right rear tire went flat. when i took off flat inside shoulder of tire had worn thru cords. took to dodge dealer in covington, tn and they said alignment must be out. noticed left rear tire also showing steel cords on inner shoulder. tech said didn't look like car had alignment at factory. did alignment and alignment was .03 degrease off on one tire the rest were within spec. dealership cant explain what happened, no one ive talked to can explain what happened. 2000 miles from home in a new car and have to spend 400.00 on tires and alignment.....not happy. *tr

At the end of last winter i noticed my heat wasn't working right, and after a few cold days recently i have no heat coming from the passenger side. pretty warm on the driver side. i see that this is pretty common in dodge avengers and would like to have the problem fixed so my family can be warm while we travel.

My vehicle did have the recall n38 for the tipm reprogram done. since then i have had nothing but problems with the air bag light. the air bag light stays on. i took it to a dodge dealer on 5/26/15 who replaced the orc module at a cost of $385. two weeks later the air bag light came on intermittently. i took it to the dealer again to be told this time it was the connector in the headrest. they repaired it for $128 and told me if the problem persists i would need to replace the headrest. why wasn't the orc module recalled for the 2012's?
