The horn, wipers, door locks and lights will randomly operate. Dealer had no idea what the problem was. I believe it to be the TIPM based on research of thousands of others with the same issues.

My 2011 Jeep Wrangler overflows gasoline everytime I fill up at the pump and I am not the only one. I have seen the thousands of pages out there on the internet complaining with videos, there is even a FaceBook page about how large of a problem this is!!! I live in NJ where we cannot pump our owns gas (plus I\'m handicapped) and my vehicle, not to mention our environment, is getting destroyed from the damage of overflowing gasoline spills. I\'ve been to the dealership multiple times and it wasn\'t fixed. Now they want more money to replace the gas tank for the same thing that had been a recall for older Jeep wranglers in the past. Why this wasn\'t done the first time??? Jeep is denying (again) any knowledge that there is a problem! The problem is in the \"baffles\" in the gas tank. Even the EPA and NHTSA is aware of this. Death Wobble. Cruise/Speed control failure. Lights 5&6 on radio do not light up… so far.

After my horn started going on and off on its own, I did some research and found out that this is typically related to the TIPM problem. Contacted my dealer, and they quoted me $1200 to repair. Also found out that this has been an issue with the 08 models and that the part numbers are the same, but for some reason Chrysler stopped the recall after the 08 models. My jeep has about 71,000 miles on it, which is basically nothing. Aggravated to beyond belief

After going 50 or more mph the jeep front tires starts shaking uncontrollably and won’t stop until I pull over and stop. This is so dangerous for anyone around that is driving pass us and for my teenage daughter that is driving it. I can’t believe it hasn’t been recalled. I won’t stop until it’s taken care of.

fuel overflows from their tank during the refueling process. The fuel system does not seem to respond to the shut-off mechanism, which means gas spills out onto the ground, the car and even the owner. This isnt a simple little fuel leak either, this is more like a fuel geyser.

While driving about 75MPH on I-26 all the lights flashed and went dark then the engine died. Coasted to the shoulder of the road. turned off the ignition and removed key. Inserted key and started Jeep.

DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY BELIEVE IT IS THE “INLET CHECK VALVE”, BUT IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTEE, AND THERE IS NO RECALL.

Took Car to car wash to wash undercarriage. Water got into the Sway Bar Disconnect Connector. Water Shorted Sway Bar Motor and fried TIPM. Local Dealer said they had never heard of problem “You are the only person in the US that this has happened to”. Did some research and this is a common issue with the connectors. How can a vehicle that can go into 19″ of water have a connector under the front bumper that is not water tight?

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH, AND I EXPERIENCED A WOBBLE/VIBRATION/SHAKING IN THE STEERING. I SLOWED DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 40MPH, AND ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION. A FEW DAYS LATER, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AGAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 50MPH, AND MY JEEP STARTED VIOLENTLY WOBBLING/SHAKING/VIBRATION TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD BARELY MAINTAIN CONTROL OF MY JEEP. UPON SLOWING DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 35MPH, THE JEEP CONTINUED TO WOBBLE/SHAKE/VIBRATE VIOLENTLY TO THE POINT WHERE I HAD TO PULL OFF OF THE ROAD. I CHECKED TIRES FOR LOOSENESS AND DID NOT FIND THAT THEY WERE LOOSE. I GOT BACK IN MY JEEP AND CONTINUED TO MY DESITINATION DRIVING UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH WITH MY FOUR WAY HAZARD LIGHTS FLASHING BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID OF LOSING CONTROL OF MY JEEP. ONCE I GOT TO MY DESTINATION, I PROCEEDED TO PULL OFF THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE TO CHECK FOR ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY THAT WOULD EXPLAIN THE WOBBLE/VIBRATION/SHAKING. NOTHING LOOKED DAMAGED/LOW ON FLUID/BROKEN SO I PUT THE TIRE BACK ON. I THEN PROCEEDED TO A TIRE BUSINESS AND HAD ALL FOUR TIRES BALANCED AND ROTATED. THE WOBBLE/SHAKING/VIBRATION SEEMED TO IMPROVE BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. THE JEEP CONTINUED TO WOBBLE/SHAKE/VIBRATE WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN THEREFORE THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. THE STEERING STABILIZER HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED WHICH SEEMS TO MAKE THIS ISSUE WORSE AND THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES/CONCERNS. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. I HAVE SEEN LAWSUITS AND RECALLS FOR DODGE RAM TRUCKS FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEMS IN JEEPS.

TIPM issue

I was driving home from work and my Jeep just stalled. It was a good thing I was at an intersection on a red light. Otherwise it would have caused an accident. I contacted Chrysler on the 29th and they scheduled me to drop off the vehicle for service on June 1st. I dropped it off and on June 4th the service tech told me it’s a TIPM issue and that my aftermarket lights (which I’ve never even used caused the TIPM to fail. I asked if I was to put lights back to stock and replace the TIPM will it resolve the issue. He said there’s no guarantee that it would. I did a research online and found that this has been an ongoing issue and would like Chrysler to acknowledge the issue and fix the issue.

I was driving on the interstate from WV to SC at about 10:30 pm at night with my son. I was in the passing lane when my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon stalled. Lights inside and out including headlights went off. Power steering went out, brakes were out. The vehicle completely blacked out while moving about 65 MPH. I wasn’t sure what to do and decided that I didn’t want to move it into neutral because everything was completely black and I didn’t want to move it into 1st gear. So I turned the ignition switch and everything came back on. This was all while traveling at night in the dark at 65 MPH. I took it to my dealer and they replaced a sensor and said the problem was fixed. On March 17th I was driving and hit a small pot hole in the road and the Jeep completely stalled again. Everything went off and the engine stalled while I was moving. This time I was traveling at a slow rate of speed during the day. I put the vehicle in neutral and turned the ignition. The Jeep didn’t start. So I put it in park and turned the ignition a second time and it started. This was the exact same problem I experienced in January that was life threatening and that I thought was fixed. Other problems I have with this vehicle: I have pulled into the garage and put the vehicle in park and pulled out the key and the vehicle was still running. I put the key back in and pulled it out slowly and it shut off. I’ve turned on the vehicle and the dashboard items were not “on.” I turn the vehicle off and back on and they would then turn on. When traveling up a steep incline on an interstate, several times I’ve had the vehicle stay in a low gear and not kick into a higher gear. The car stalled two times at very low speed prior to the time it stalled on the interstate at night.

My 2011 Jeep Wrangler has major electrical problems. The windshield wipers wouldn’t turn off even after shutting off the engine. I pulled the fuse but they still stayed on. I could smell something electrical burning so I had to disconnect the battery. Also the door locks don’t work and front cigarette lighter stopped working. I called the dealer and made an appointment to bring it in. While driving to the dealer the Jeep started to shake horribly when accelerating (due to electrical issues with the fuel pump). The dealer says that I need a new Totally Integrated Power Control Module (Tipm). The cost is well over $1000 (the vehicle is out of warranty). When I searched Tipm problems on-line I found that Chrysler has tons of complaints about this but the only issued a recall on a few vehicle models and Wrangler wasnt included. There are obviously a bigger number of vehicles affected and Chrysler should recall the remaining models.

Horn and steering wheel volume controls not working my investigation concludes it is a common problem due to clock spring

While driving down the highway the airbag light came on with no warning. the airbag light would go off and on. turning the steering wheel when stationary will also make the light come on and off.

Fuel overflows while filling tank. fuel spills on people, vehicle, and ground.

The on going death wobble issue. this last incident , i was coming home from work on the florida turnpike doing about 60 mph and it happened again and i lost total control of the jeep and almost got hit by an 18 wheeler... luckily i managed to cut to my right before he hit me.

Purchased 2011 sahara manual 2dr in 3/2016. on 2/24/2021 noticed smoke and burning smell coming from left front side as i was returning home from a doctor visit on local 4 lane 35 mph highway. stopped at local jeep dealer,ross jeep, 2 blocks away and fire was visible from left front wheel. was told fire due to brake "seized" causing fire to rotor/brake. 22,000 miles currently on jeep. have serviced regularly as recommended and garaged with no "off road" driving. mechanic/dealer suggested new brakes and rotors on front of jeep. why with only 22,000 miles would i have a problem with brakes and what would cause this problem ? from reading other complaints i feel lucky to not have had a total loss of jeep and my life due to fire. i had jeep completely checked out prior to purchase along with checking for recalls and no issues surfaced.

Jeep was towed to shop due to starter randomly catching on fire. asked mechanics to check the road walk. they said everything was fine but jeep bounces all over the road. i have drove many keeps and this isn’t normal and is unsafe to drive. electrical issues with the heated seats. they turn on for 3-4 seconds and shut back off.

Heated seats not working properly. overheating on occasion with smell of "burning" plastic, and not heating on other occasions.

Engine blew out the oil, no warning lights, engine blew a rod. engine locked up.

I have a 2011 jeep wrangler. i have had my jeep into the dealership four times so far for a leaking roof. each time i get it back it is supposed to be fixed and the problem is worse. i pd them $1500. on the first visit. they even sent it back to me wet once. it has had so much water in it so many times i wonder if it has mold. i have had it detailed and dried several times, but what about what i can't see, in the vents...every time i turn on the ac or heater or defrost am i blowing mold spores all over and then breathing them in? it has been so wet inside after a bad rain i had condensation on the roof...inside my jeep. everything in my jeep gets wet, coats, towels, mail or any paper, damp and soft. it seems to me that they've known about this problem, but refuse to take responsibility for their manufacturing error. however they have discontinued the freedom style top. it seems like a way to get out of actually recalling the style, they'll just call it discontinued. i am so disappointed in my experiences w/this, in total they've had my car for at least a month, working on a water leak. seems like quite a bit of time, my jeep must have leaks everywhere. i have never removed any of the pieces on my top, so it can't be that i'm not properly putting them back on. jeep has continued to make money by charging customers to replace seals, and sending people home w/a leak worse than when they took it in. i've asked them to clean the inside of the vehicle and the vents, i don't know if those things will happen as it is in the dealership now 9 days this time and don't know when i'll get it back. the first year i had my jeep the passenger door popped open while i was driving. i took it to the dealership and they replaced the seal free of charge because it was defective. *tr

My 2011 rubicon left hand drive has never been in an accident and has an airbag light on.... i took it to the jeep dealer and i can have the clock spring and wiring repaired for $810... this is a common problem as i was told by the dealer.....

Clock spring recall s33 does not cover jeep wrangler 2011 left hand drive models! warning this is unsafe and a 10 on the oem's dfmea! unfair. this 2011 clock spring failure causes airbag light and same code as the 2007 - 2010 and 2011 right drive recalls. i have dealer repair receipts to prove. why aren't the left hand 2011 jeep jk wranglers included in this safety recall? keep all your documentation and report to fca and to nhtsa if you have same issue to get reimbursement when they do recall the left hand model.

Takata recall waiting months for the repair of something that could cause fatal injury is an abomination! and it's still not available!

When filling up with gas, after the automatic pump shutoff, gas shoots back out onto the side of the jeep and the ground. like the tank threw up the last bit of gas (about a liter of gas comes back out). happens every time i fill up regardless of which gas station i go to.

My 2011 jeep wrangler unlimited is a right hand drive that i use for mail delivery and personal use. the engine stalls spontaneously while i'm driving and/or delivering. when this happens, steering is precarious. twice this incident has happened while i was in-transit through a curve at 45 mph. i was unsuccessful at wrestling with the steering wheel to drift off the road safely. two succeeding cars, not able to see me in the blind spot of the curve, swerved into the opposing lane of traffic to avoid me. a fatal accident could have happened. f ornately and thankfully, the engine did start up again but not without a close call. does someone have to get seriously injured or die before a recall will be considered?? also, randomly the starter cranks but won't start or it won't crank at all, rendering the key fob useless for locking the doors-excruciatingly frustrating & a security issue when the vehicle is full of mail/packages. i have been to 2 mechanics on 3 separate occasions concerning these issues. one mechanic could not make a diagnosis and the other thought the problem to be the starter, which was replaced. however, the problems persist. my research has lead me to believe that i might have a faulty tipm. i will have a mechanic investigate this possibility further. should the tipm be the culprit, a recall should be opened for desperate reconsideration and for safety's sake!!!!!!

The airbag light comes on and dings intermittently and appears to be not functional. the cruise control does not work intermittently.

The tipm has failed no trun signals and or brake lights

Excessive oil consumption caused engine to fail, had 4000 miles to next oil change and only had 1/2 quart of oil remaining. no smoke or oil on ground were detected.

I was driving at under 10 mph, on a texas state road when the plastic fuel line which is connected to the underside of the body with some type of adhesive failed. this dropped the fuel line directly on the catalytic converter, which melted the fuel line causing a fire that spread to the engine compartment. apparently this is an issue on the 4 door model wranglers as the 2 door wranglers have a plate preventing this. this issue should be looked at on all 4 door models, ranging from 2008 through at least 2013. i have looked at other 4 door jeeps and see that they have the same potential issue there is nothing that prevents the fuel line from coming into contact with the exhaust and potentially causing a fire.

At 73,000 miles the transmission failed. for no reason. the check engine light came on. when i was driving, it felt like the car was slipping out of gear. nothing had been done to the car that would have warned me that something like this might happen. i was just driving normally, going to work.

Today my 2011 jeep wrangler unlimited with 22k miles bought new by myself experienced the oscillating front end issue commonly referred to as the "death wobble". my steering wheel shook and i had to hold on highly at 60 mph to maintain control. i was terrified and have maintained this vehicle properly and never had it off road. i had to pull over to a complete stop in heavy traffic to inspect the tires which were fine. apparently stopping the vehicle, stopped the oscillating suspension component(s) and i was able to get home safely. now i'm afraid to drive the vehicle more than a few miles because of this serious safety issue. this is the first episode and it is related to the very well documented fiat/chrysler's faulty designed front suspension components on these vehicles.

1. last year i had to replace my engine because chrysler said it ran low on oil which caused engine damage. i had 11 oil changes and proof of service from oil change shops that entire year. i paid the 8k to put a new engine in to get it out of stevens creek chrysler jeep and dodge. i was told to take chrysler to small claims court. i never got a chance to because i could not "serve" anyone at chrysler corporation properly. 2. the new engine that i bought had the same problem. they did an oil compression check and it lost all of its oil in 1000 miles. my car is in the shop now. chrysler will come back and probably replace the engine for free this time. 3. while my car has been in the shop this weekend , it was broken into. both windows broken and speakers stolen. the dealership said they would pay for this and fix it. what i want is not a new engine. i want my money back for the entire jeep since they sold me a car that has had two blown engines now and i have all the reciepts to prove the first time i was not at fault. i do not want to take chrysler to small claims. i want it done for me. i cannot get to the right people at chrysler in order to push this further. i spoke to a few lawyers and they said it isnt neccesarily a lemon law case but it is more of a dealership/chrysler warranty case. what can i do? thank you. here is a link to my receipts for oil changes (i will put receipts up on server for costs soon) https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vh0b4cxxkcb36at/aabtpuwdk1zvc3frhxd6yjtta?dl=0

Death wobble, dealerships are not telling buyers this may be a problem with their jeep. i have developed this problem without knowing what it was and was a terrible experience. will not drive it on the highway anymore and checked to have it fixed and they want $700! that is not right, especially if they are not sure it will fix it.

Every time i fill up my gas tank it clicks once to shut off and then fuel comes shooting out like a geyser. i have tried pumping slowly and all different positions with nozzle and that doesn't help. a huge amount of gasoline spits out everywhere.

Front end: i replaced track bar and steering damper at 27,221 miles on the vehicle. bar bent under normal driving and road conditions which is upon paved roads. this car doesn't go off road and i replaced a part that should last for well over this short mileage life. in the service end of the business (at the jeep dealer) this was called "the tire death roll" for when this happens all manor of vehicle control is minimal. i experienced this 3 times upon my drive out of town for a trip as i was at highway speeds and this would happen as i made connections from one freeway system to another. i took the car in to find out what was wrong so it could be fixed and then finished my trip. i have reported this to the fiat chrysler group to reimburse me for the costs associated for fixing an inferior part. there response was since i didn't purchase an "extended vehicle warranty: it's not their problem. i have gone out to google "tire death roll" on jeeps and it seems pretty common, which seems pretty negligent on their end. if it's a "know issue", then when car come in for service or recalls they should look at the "bar and damper" since it seems to die pretty quickly in jeeps and need to be replaced commonly. this reminds me of the explorer and it "issues for many years". i told the fiat case worker" that the car only has 27,221 miles on it. yes the car is 6 years old but rarely driven, and front end steering parts should last longer than what i experienced, extended warranty or not. no one want to experience loss of vehicle control on a highway ramp at 50 or 60 miles and hour on a smooth curve in the road. this "tire death roll" experience happens when the car is being driven on a highway in my instance, not when one turns at intersection lights.

Whilst parked on driveway waiting for the electric gate to open to continue on to work (engine running with heated seats on and rear window heater on), fire started in engine compartment, burning jeep wrangler 2011 rubicon to the ground. jeep was a daily drive, only modification was 2" lift which was on the jeep when purchased from perkins motors colorado springs co. perkins motors are a chrysler dealer, jeep was fully inspected and up to date with all recalls, services and oil changes

Randomly while driving wipers, lights locks and horn will operate. this also happens sometimes when the doors are opened while stationary. it has become progressively frequent. i believe it to be the tipm based on thousands of other complaints.

Fuel keep's spitting out when i fill-up with gas.

I am having trouble with my throw out bearing preload on my jeep. i have noticed there is a tsb 06-002-07 for the tj and jk wranglers year 2007 and before. i have called jeep and they have no record on the throw out bearing for my year jeep. as soon as i go to google there's 100s of pages about preload problems on the throw out bearing. they have also recommended a bearing threw national bearing and seals but i haven't tried that yet. i had it replaced in november 2016 and also had problems with carmax saying it was my driving and also i had to go back and forth multiple times because of there faulty work. it started to act up again load squeal when the clutch pedal is depressed and the noise goes away when pressed (at a stop in nuetral) also loud when driving when clutch is released same noice. i'm not sure who else to talk to about this issue because jeep was not so helpful. thank you.

Bought jeep new. has always needed oil between changes. constant ticking sound started a few weeks ago while engine was running. mechanic says engine needs to be replaced.

Death wobble - i had heard of other jeep wrangler drivers talking about this problem for years, but had never experienced it until last weekend. it started with a slight shimmy at around 35mph at the beginning of a roughly 250 mi. road trip. before hitting the end of the trip, the shimmy had transformed into an incredibly violent jerking motion of the steering between 10:00 - 2:00 and loss of control of the vehicle. very nearly resulted in a head on collision. to remedy the problem, had to replace the upper and lower ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rod ends, steering stabilizer, track bar and drag links. the track bar bolts in the end sleeves seemed far too small in diameter and routed out the bushings over time and this looked to be one of the major culprits of the problem. incredibly dangerous driving condition and also an incredibly expensive fix as all of these parts are affected and interconnected. when one starts to go it has a domino effect on the others.

This jeep has a recall for the electrical harness for the heated mirror for possible fire. the autonation dealer in golden colorado says they don't have the part and jeep recall department says they do. it is believed that the dealer doesn't want to fix recall items do to the profitability. the dealership told us that the part was not available. jeep recall is saying that isn't the case. the manufacture and dealers need to take responsibility for this hazardous risk before something bad happens. we have been trying to take care of this for some time now and jeep should be more cooperative.

Abs brakes engage while driving at highway speeds without touching brakes. this causes the abs light to turn on and all four wheels go through the anti-lock stutter pattern and can dramatically affect steering control when it is unexpected, pulling the vehicle hard in either direction. this happened to me 4 times yesterday while making a 250 mi road trip on the way back home. the dashboard light illuminates briefly each time as the abs system engages for roughly 2-3 seconds and then releases. each time this happened road speeds were between 45-65mph.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep wrangler. at various times, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front end of the vehicle and the engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the contact discovered that the vehicle was also leaking oil frequently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 69,000.

2011 jeep jku clockspring faulty why only 2007-2010 recall when all yrs are crap!

Airbag light comes on consistently and started about 55,000 miles. dealer tested and says it is code b1b02. after researching online i saw where this has been an known issue for some time.

Takata recall we feel we cannot safely use this vehicle until it is fixed. when do they anticipate having a proper fix?

There is fuel cap message on the dashboard. i changed the cap and the message continued. i took the rubicon to the local jeep dealer and was told that there is problems with the fuel tank and needs to be replaced. i was told that there is a hose that goes from where the fuel gets filled to the engine and the whole tank needs to be replaced. i feel that this is a major problem and a safety hazard. the jeep is not being driven right now due to my concern. the jeep is only 5 years old and it only has 36k miles. this should be a manufacture replacement> i have never heard of such issues on other vehicles even after 50+ years. please advice me asap on my next step. thank you *tr

My 2011 jeep wrangler overflows gasoline everytime i fill up at the pump and i'm finding out that i'm not the only one, while jeep denies it! i spoke with the epa and they ask me to also make you aware of it. i have paid for it to be "repaired" at the dealership on 2 occasions and it still continues. i live in nj and you can not pump your own gas (besides i'm handicapped), so it's out of my control and my car and our environment is getting ruined from gasoline. i can only imagine the many other jeep wranglers that are destroying our environment with the spilled gas! i submitted a picture, but i wish it could be one of the several videos i took. please help us!

Tipm module - why has there not been a recall on the tipm modules. this is a safety hazard. there are tons of complaints on this. jeep needs to stand behind their product. i have less than 50,000 miles on the jeep and should not be having to replace this module. this is a $1500 fix and they are notorious for going out.

Airbag light comes on intermittently

Brake pedal issue. brakes are new, but pedal is soft. creates a stopping issue as it is difficult to determine and time the stopping distance without increasing braking pressure. happens at all speeds, but most noticeable at low speeds below 30mph.

Water leaking from a pillars onto the floor. wet carpet/mats causing foot to involuntarily slip when switching pedals. happens in rainy weather, which is already dangerous without this issue. major safety and health hazard (if mold begin to form).

My airbag warning light has been randomly coming on while driving. i researched the topic to find out that the clockspring was often the cause of this. i filled out a complaint mentioning the clockspring. shortly after, and perhaps coincidentally, i received notice from chrysler that my clockspring warranty had been extended to 15 years/unlimited miles. i took the wrangler into the dealer and diagnostics suggested they needed to change the orc (occupant restraint controller) module. i asked them to hold off on the repair and i would do some research. that is my current status.

Takata recall (recall date july 1, 2016) of recall number s43 for a front passenger airbag, and i have called jeep/mopar on at least 3 occasions. on the last call they assured me that i would have the airbag inflator replaced on or about january 31, 2017. there will most certainly be a recording of this call, which was on or about december 24, 2016. on february 17, i again called mopar at 1-800-853-1403, and was told by [xxx] (employee/[xxx] number ri183) that the parts would not be available until march 31, 2017. i am in one of the hottest and most humid areas of the usa, southwest florida, and my vehicle, a jeep wrangler unlimited, vin # [xxx], is a 2011 model, so it is among the older vehicles in the recall. i asked the call center representative named above to transfer me to a supervisor, and first she told me that no supervisor was available, them that no supervisor could be located, than that the supervisor was in a meeting. she said i would have to receive a call-back, or i could hold. i was on a cell phone, so i asked for a call-back. that was at about 10:30 in the morning and i did not receive a call at all that day. auto makers can, with impunity, continue to put airbags and sensors in new vehicles, and continue to sell them, while not standing behind those they have already sold. sensors needed for those consumers who previously put their trust in this component manufacturer and in jeep. i am asking for your help, as i don't expect to get a return call as i was promised, and i do expect that when i call again, mopar will walk back the promise of a march 31, 2017 parts arrival. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My 2011 jeep wrangler sport has less than 50,000 miles and my airbag light is on and has been on for at least 6 months or more. why is the recall only for rh drive wranglers, from what i am reading there are several lh drive wranglers with the same issue. also every time it rains front driver and passenger floors are wet underneath floor mat. i have read several owner complaints on this issue but manufacture does not seem to care.

Jeep has recalled 2007-2010 wranglers for replacement and shrouding of clocksprings due to mass failure. this problem exists in later models as well. my 2011 and 2012 wranglers have both recently had their clocksprings fail.

I've experiencing a terrible wobbling when driving on the highway.i only drive back and forward to work. i do not off road at all!! i almost caused an accident the other day coming from work. it was terrible to say the least. i'm really afraid to use my jeep and will never let my family it... please advise what i can do to get it fix . i've taking it to the dealer several times already with no results.

My airbag light keeps coming on intermittently. took it to a dealership and says the clock spring has gone bad. i see there is a recall for jeep’s that are right handed for this same issue. i also see on the forums and this website that it is happening to a lot of left handed jeep wranglers. i think the recall should be for both. this is a safety hazard as i learn my drivers side airbag will not deploy if i am in a wreck.

There is a bad connection with the gears according to the transmission. it’s slipping and delayed movement to the vehicle. from time to time, the vehicle will slow down or stop all of a sudden when driving or turning a corner. it’s very dangerous especially if someone is on your butt.

I received 2 emails from nhtsa in may 2016 regarding the failed air bags due to failed clockspring assembly. two (2) weeks later my indicator light came on because the airbags failed. the jeep dealership said if i got into a crash, the airbags would not deploy. however, i was forced to pay for this manufacturer's defect. this was clearly a manufacturer's defect and a safety issue. i shouldn't have had to pay for this. the information your agency provided is as follows: nhtsa campaign id number : 16v288 manufacturer : chrysler (fca us llc) make / model years : jeep / 2011-2016 subject : clockspring assembly may become contaminated.

I was told that the tipm malfunctioned and affected the door locks and may result in other failures.

The heater in my jeep has never worked since we bought it! the driver side especially! we took it back where we bought it and they said the vent was stuck and it just continues to get worse now its freezing. online the internet is blowing up w/ people w/ the same issues with these. vehicles. why is there not a recall? this should be a class action lawsuite if you do not take care of this asap!

Air bag chime and light come on if i turn the wheel

The airbag warning light is on, but it appears it's actually the clockspring that is faulty. i don't actually know that it's the wiring that is faulty or the clockspring it's self, either way, a local dealership want $500.00 to fix it. with all the recalls on this particular part, this vehicle is not included in the recall. after market warranties won't touch it.

Takata recall - received a safety recall notice prior to july 2016 regarding front airbag. the notice was not dated so can not give specific mailing date. i called the dealership july 25, 2016 concerned that we had not been called to schedule replacement, was advised they would call as soon as product was available. called dealer again on august 16, 2016 - advised to call back at later date still did not have parts. called dealer october 27, 2016 they advised that they still did not have parts and that they would call me when parts arrived. it is now december 13, 2016 still have not heard from dealer. the car dealer is: auburn chrysler dodge jeep ram, auburn california. phone# 530-885-2900 would appreciate any help you can provide in getting the car dealer to make the repair as soon as possible. thank you *tr

My air bag light keeps coming on randomly. i took it to a friend who works for chrysler as a mechanic and his code reader mentioned the steering wheel air bag is the culprit. we’ve determined that the clock spring is the root of the issue. although not of the same recall group, this is exactly like the 2016’s recall of 2007-2010 us wranglers, and over 7k+ right-hand drive wranglers. im sure my wrangler is not the only 2011 having this issue. considering we’ve been dealing with tons of dust and soot in california due to wildfires everywhere, it is likely the dust triggering this; nonetheless fitting the profile of the recall in 2016 exactly as it is. i believe chrysler/fiat should honor vehicles built in that year range as it seems they are still affected by this design flaw.

When filling up with fuel, the gas will spit back and spill fuel on the side of jeep and ground, even after the automatic shut off of the hose engages. has happened several, maybe 5 dozen, times since i've owned it. it us well documented from thousands of owners of this style jeep having the same problem.

First my horn stopped working then the buttons on the steering wheel quit working then the radio started getting all static but at first when radio started being static the cd player still worked and then the cd player would play intermittenly and not a sound in radio mode now now cd , no radio, no steering wheel button and no horn. the cruise control light comes on if the button is pressed but that is it. it is important to have a working horn safety!!! i was told it is the clockspring going out and causing all these issues and causeing the amplifier to fail and the stereo malfunction and needing to be replaced. costing a couple thousand dollars.

While headlights/fog lights on, right turn signal on as vehicle making turn fog lights go off. intermittent sound with am-fm part of radio, satellite part works fine .

Engine failure. while traveling at 75mph on the highway, the vehicle lost power and threw a check engine light. i pulled over to the side of the road and shut off the vehicle and attempted to restart it. the vehicle did not immediately restart, but did so on the second try. i drove away and approximately a mile down the road, the vehicle began to knock and make banging noises, i pulled over once again and called a tow tuck. vehicle was later diagnosed with failed rod bearings and required a full rebuild. vehicle had 125k miles at the time of failure.

Death wobble. while driving.

The horn stopped working, to my knowledge since we never had to use it until11/8/18, the day we had to escape the camp fire. maybe it never worked! is this a recalled issue? in motion city street.

Complaint number: 1299598 the print out of my filed complaint is incorrect in that i did check the box to not share my complaint with the manufacturer i have photos of this fact on another camera not connected to the internet. please make not of this complaint as i have.

Vehicle stationary, flooding front driver and passenger floorboards. 3+ inches. not a drop of water anywhere else. 6 attempts at dealership service department by (the waterman), until completed. the service department has no record of this in their system according to them, i do. caused electrical, rusting, carpeting buckled now loose bunching under gas and brake pedals. received nhtsa recall notification, of the seatbelts in my 2011 jeep wrangler, ,have not received any notification from manufacturer. last recall for drivers airbag, takata dangers, the dealerships repair department insisted no such recall existed, and claims to have replaced the passenger airbag that had already been replaced. my vin # pulls up all recalls completed. this is not true. i have records of dates of service and photos. i don't have a scanner to upload them. flooding occurred while vehicle was stationary and parked in driveway of home.

So they (mopar/jeep) have had this jeep clock spring recall issue for a while now... we have had it replaced twice now under the recall and it is still doing the exact same thing... so the recall fix was nothing but a sham... it did not fix the problem and the problem still persists and i am not fixing it for a third time when the solution they came up with for the recall is not a solution it just masks the problem for a little while... so now once again the clock spring is out in it and i am at my wits end with it!

When filling with fuel, gas will spit back from the filler neck and all over the side of the jeep right before the fuel nozzle clicks off. this has happened 3 times now in the 3 weeks since i bought this vehicle from a dealer. this creates a fire hazard in the event gas hit a hot spot or a spark caused by static, etc...

Clock spring malfunction- the buttons on the steering wheel have all gone out, the horn no longer works, and the airbag light is on. this happened suddenly when i went to turn my car on after it had been parked and turned off for the night.

Hood flutters at normal speed on any type of road under normal driving conditions.

During the evening of october 16, 2019 while driving on interstate highway 84 near the eagle road exit 46 with my 5 ½ year old grandson, my jeep had a catastrophic electrical failure. i could not get the turn signals, headlights, windshield wipers, or horn to work. later i learned that at least the drivers air bag was also inoperable. the next morning my local jeep dealer (larry h miller, boise, id) diagnosed the problem as a failure of the “clock spring” the service manager called me and said that due to the ongoing recall of certain right hand drive jeep wranglers (nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v288000, 13v176000, and 11v528000, all involving the clock spring) a new, redesigned, clock spring is not available for non-recalled vehicles. he to install at my epense a new clock spring, but of the old design, which would eventually fail.

Front passenger seat belt is defective. gets stuck when trying to pull it out. takes a few tries to pull it out. sometimes it wont unlock. very serious safety hazard. jeep is always stationary when trying to use the seatbelt. this has been happening for the past year or two. i paid $700.00 out of pocket to have a new seat belt installed today at a local mechanic. the seatbelt should be warrantied for life of the vehicle. jeep chrysler has denied my claim for repair. the seatbelt is a safety issue. not a luxury item.

I had just dropped my 6 year old off school, went to leave with my 7 month old and ended up stranded because the alternator went out, just to find out that there is a sensor in the computer and isn't something that can be fixed real quick. so now am in a major bind trying to get my family places while my jeep sits.

Recently had airbag replaced per recall. about 2 weeks before, airbag light on console now comes on intermittently, usually at lower speeds. will go off for brief period, then alarms and illuminates again. this began with around 149,500 miles. i am original purchaser. airbag light was doing this at time of airbag replacement. i confirmed authorized repair dept. was aware of this, and they confirmed. informed me to schedule followup appointment for repair. vehicle has been involved in no accidents. upon personal review, it is my understanding this may be a clock spring issue, as buttons on steering wheel are non-operational, except cruise control and horn.

I am not able to get the air bag recall done due to the fact that i no longer have the stock stereo.

At the time my vehicle was recalled for side mirror/back defroster recall, my rear window defroster was working properly. when the recall repair work was completed, the rear defroster did not work since. i have taken it to jeep on more than one occasion & they cannot fix it. i was told i had to replace the entire rear window. the problem is a safety issue because when the rear window is fogged up, there is zero visibility. this is very dangerous when i am driving and cannot see what's behind me! it's a common issue with jeep vehicles and it was working fine before my recall repairs. a jeep dealership has tried several times to fix the problem. the side mirrors worked better before the recall repairs as well.

The oe hood latches degrade over time allowing the hood to vibrate and "lift" especially at highway speeds. this is well documented anecdotally - google "wrangler jk hood flutter". i saw the front of my hood moving at least 1" to the point where i feared it would fly up over the windshield. i replaced my latches with those from the 2018-19 wrangler jl model which now uses a metal ring in place of the rubber band on the jk latch. this indicates to me that fca realizes the jk design is faulty.

Drivning on interstate in ohio after stop at service plaza and just got off ramp pulling onto interstate and oil light popped up and at same time engine made a noise. immediately pulled off road. turned off jeep, called aaa. they towed me. i'm told it needs a new engine. i have records of good care of this vehicle. it only had 56,500 miles. i'm finding out others online others went through same. the garage tells me that jeep knows of the problem and put a new upgrade to engines. these engines should have been recalled. now i'm facing thousands for a new engine and i am without a vehicle. i have contacted jeep and waiting for a response.

2011 jeep sahara wrangler refueling problem. refueling geyser overflow problem of gasoline at where nozzle enters vehicle. requires manually clicking off handle when fuel tank is completely full overflowing gasoline on ground, jeep, and self, (fuel on hands and shoes). this overflow occurred january 25, 2019, february 11, 2019, and march 10, 2019. we are the original owners from berglund jeep dodge ram dealership and the service advisor indicated repairs would not be covered april 3, 2019.

I spoke to brown’s ford in patchogue at 8:58am as well as riverhead chrysler 9:30am today to bring the jeep in for the airbag recall. they informed me they do not have the parts for the airbag propellant recall and do not have a date for arrival only to say most likely july. they would take my info and call once the parts are in. i believe this recall is a very important one that needs to be done asap, not a month or two from now.

Clock spring needs replacement on the jeep. the vehicle has 43000 miles and has been driven lightly off-road. the warning light constantly goes on/off with a warning sound. the error code displays "air bag sensor", but my neighborhood mechanic tells me its the clock spring that needs to be replaced. the city of riverside, dodge dealer (moss bros) in ca says no recalls are noted for my 2011 jeep.

Fuel sprays out of filler when filling fuel tank. the nozzle shuts off and then the fuel flows out onto operator and exterior of car and ground.

When refueling, the gas does not shut off and spills out of the tank until user shuts off. this happens each time you refuel and you are unable to fill up to shut off. i have spilled gasoline, on vehicle, clothing, ground, gas pump, etc. this is a pretty serious issue and i could not find a recall. i don't think this should be ignored. i had to add a date below, just the latest time it has been an issue. it has occurred multiple times to myself and my spouse.

My jeep was unable to go into reverse, went and got the checked and was informed that the transmission was bad. when i bought this vehicle it had only 8k miles on it i kept the mantinance up on the jeep unbelievable that i have to replace the transmission on a 2011 jeep. so disappointed.

Airbag light in on indicating a problem with the airbag. i contacted jeep and they said the repair would be $600. if this is a safety item due to no result of my own, then why should i have to pay for the repair?

I was driving 45 mph southbound on highway 101 in california. i started smelling a burning smell from under the hood. i was coming up to traffic and began to press the brake pedal and realized that i had very little brake pressure. i then switched lanes in preparation to get off the highway. as i got off the next exit with very little brake pressure, the smell got worse and smoke began to come out from under the engine bay. as soon as a i got off the next exit, i pulled into a parking lot and hand to use the hand brake to get the car to stop. i had no brake pressure left. as soon as i put the car in park, flames started coming out from under the engine bay. i grabbed what i could and exited the vehicle and called 911 requesting the fire department to put the fire out. the fire started under the left hand side of the engine bay. that is where the flames were seen visibly first. i have no aftermarket parts or mods outside of mopar (oem). car has been maintained and service by putnam jeep in burlingame. no offroad usage either.

Takata recall, these airbags remain in my vehicle with the recall of temperature and humidity in my area make my vehicle a constant danger to my life and all those on any road or highway i may drive on. they contain metal components that kill. nhtsa is not doing nearly enough to get the manufacturer to take immediate action to replace said airbags before, highly possible multiple deaths occur. there are several problems with this vehicle, water accumulating on the floor in 8 to 12 inches on both front passenger sides. not a drop was found anywhere else within the vehicle. it took 4 attempts to fix this problem and there is no, report other than those i have on a hard drive from someone my dealership had to call in to fix this issue, by the name of,"the waterman." why are there no reports on file with the service department of my dealership. there are constant electrical problems, icons lighting up, repair department claiming they cannot repeat the issue. though i have taken in photos of the dashboard as proof and evidence. the vehicle was under extended warranty mechanical and body outside s well as the entire interior.the carpet requires replacing refused by the service dept. the water caused the carpeting to become loose, the cheap plastic clip to hold the mat on the driver's side does not hold it in place ,causing it to punch up under the accelerator and brake pedals.there is also a rip about an inch or so beside the plastic clip meant to hold the mat in place. this is a deadly defect waiting to happen. after twice being deemed repaired, both side view electric heated mirrors that are supposed to keep them clear from water, the dangerous problem still exists. the water damage has caused rust and corrosion to accumulate under the carpet where most of the wires and parts to the electrical system are placed and compromised.there are suspension problems,visibility

Jeep wrangler 2011 stalled on the city street and highway in several occations. it occur several times. i was on the road, the jeep went out completely, it did not brake, it did not turn on, it did not honk, i did not respond. several times this dangerous situation happen exactly the same and i almost risked my life. i already been on the edge of crashing and i had to stop in the grass or green areas to not kill myself. mechanics do not come up with the problem. in the dealer there are several jeep wrangler with the same problem. last visit to a professional and authorize repair center 6/11/18. this is clearly a defect that attends life and security.

My emergency brake keeps popping loose when engaged. i had the dealership tighten it when i bought it however it never felt like it was tight. recently i've had more work done to the jeep and i asked them to look at it. the response was that it can not be tightened, it has to be replaced. he said this is a very common problem on wranglers. the replacement parts are warrantied for 2 years. as far as the date for which it happened i would have to say it's been an ongoing problem ever since we've owned it.

I was driving down the road going 55 mph and a huge gust of white smoke came thru the dash vent system so i pulled over and got out of my jeep sahara and noticed a big mass of white smoke coming out from under the hood... 2 minutes later, fire started and within a couple minutes my whole front part of the jeeps engine was engulfed in flames. than from there it burned up the rest of the jeep.. this vehicle was completely destroyed in a matter of 10-15 minutes.. i was driving on a paved road in the country ..

Takata recall, for my location has yet to be addressed. i have spoken to several employees in the service department of the dealership from which it was purchased as well as to several people including the manager of the dealership. only one person from the service department looked up my vehicle on her computer and found the recalled and several complaints, attempted repairs that failed to be repaired, my service team manager lying to my face after being presented with nhtsa documentation proving my claims, several attempts to repair the recalled parts, service department claims in report, recalled problem repaired when it has not been or claiming unable to reproduce claimed recalled problem. for years until the manufacturers warranty and the extended service mechanical warranty as well as the extended internal warranty expired with out acknowledgment of the dangerous conditions i am having to drive a vehicle with several highly dangerous life threatening issues some recalled by manufacturer others they’ve ignored as well as ignoring me the owner. these issues continue to this day! the electrical system and computer,while driving on u.s. i-95 heading west in rush hour traffic my vehicle went dead surrounded by vehicles going well above the 55 mph speed limit. some how i managed to manouver it thre lanes over to the non-exhisting pull over lane as the steering wheel was locked. there was no power. i called 911, who hung up on me, as did the local police department of princinct 3, only the arrival of the tow truck and driver who managed to set reflective warning triangles far behind my vehicle and repidly assisting me to exit my vehicle without injury or death. then proceeded to tow my vtto the service department of the dealership. the side rear view mirrors with a heating element that is supposed to keep them dry and clear in all weather were claimed fixed. more

Takata recall - bought my vehicle, no light was ever on. about 4 months after purchasing vehicle till present - airbags light comes on with dings, stays on. electrical is failing, can't seem to find the reason for the electrical malfunctions. cruise and trac control kick on and off whenever they want to, that has been scary (moving all 4 times, 4 on interstate, 1 as i was turning a sharp turn after i had slowed). in the date slot below, i will put the 1st known time it happened to me, as there has been several.

When fueling the gas tank, gas will spew out in large volumes before the gas pump habdle deactivate allowing gas to spill over the side of jeep and on to the ground. it happens at multiple gas stations and multiple pumps. problem is with jeep, not the gas pump handle. simple google search reveals a miriad of the same problem. vehicle is stationary. note: has happened alot practically everytime, not just the date entered.

In july 2017, vehicle did not pass emission requirements at state inspection. upon investigation, determination was made that a plastic hose connection on top of tank had broken and that entire tank needed to be replaced. replacement availability was not a problem - over 100 in stock locally (really? this must be a recurring problem!) replacement cost, parts & labor - $1200.) first replacement had same problem and was replaced immediately at no cost. second replacement has now developed same issue & and now, after approximately 6+ months must be replaced again. it should be noted that there hasn't been any accident, or trauma of any kind to vehicle. although replacement cost is not to be ignored, it is my contention that this obvious design flaw creates a significant safety hazard. in the event of a rollover, gasoline would free-flow from the tank onto the muffler.

When turning on fan speed switch (climate control) wire to fan becomes soo hot it melts, has burning smell, as if it wants to burn or catch fire. has done this twice even after replacing burnt wiring. this wire gets red hot at any position of the fan speed switch which controls the ac, or heat. i’m afraid of jeep catching on fire.

I experienced a "violent" shaking of my 2011 jeep wrangler unlimited twice before taking it into the shop. the first time, in late october 2018, i was going around 40mph and was on a busy one lane highway. i had never felt anything like it before. the jeep began to shake back and forth violently. i slowed down and the shake went away. the second time was 4 or 5 days later on an interstate. this time the jeep (going about 55mph) shook so much, it pulled the car into the passing lane before slowing down and maintaining control of the vehicle. i got off the highway and found a less busy road to get home. i took the jeep in to get looked at and they replaced the "track bar" for $500. two days later the same incident occurred again and has happened once or twice since, each time going between 40mph and 60mph. based on the experiences i have had, i cannot afford to drive the car anymore. i have a baby daughter born just a week ago and am not willing to risk having the jeep falling apart, roll over, or veer into oncoming traffic.

I bought my jeep with 67,000 miles, within a year before reaching 100,000 miles it was only at about 99,000miles when this happened and apparently the engine wasn’t lubricating correctly and a bearing in the engine shattered. even though i change my oil every 3,000 miles with high mileage because my spouse works on cars he is always making sure. after looking into this further this engine is known throughout the jeep community to fail before reaching 100,000 miles yet jeep still has not used an extension for the engine. i spent almost 20,000 dollars on this vehicle one year ago and now i’m driving around with an engine that will fail soon because i have to get to work somehow and the warrenty on the vehicle was only a five year 100,000 miles warrenty so it doesn’t cover it. i think jeep should be ashamed for selling people these engines knowing they will fail before 100,000 miles and that they should be responsible and extend the original warranties to 10 yr 150,000 miles for people who expierience this kind of engine failure and now have to purchase a new engine out of pocket. i need someone to contact me regarding this issue i will not sit back and remain silent until it is resolved. i am a single mother living on limited income and have to take from my savings to cover an entire new engine. for a car i bought 1 year ago and didn’t even go 100,000 miles before exploding. and i didn’t even put the most miles on it. i’ve only gone about 40,000 miles. so in reality this was most likely an issue before i bought the vehicle.

Crack in gas tank - the check engine light illuminated yesterday when i started the vehicle. i took my vehicle to my mechanic. there is a crack in the top of the gas tank. my mechanic said that after research in trying to get a new gas tank, he found that this is an issue. mopar has a significant backorder for these tanks. this is definitely a safety issue and i hope it will be looked into.

The clock spring on my jeep appears to have failed. the airbag light on my jeep is on. the dealership says as long as this light is on the airbags in my vehicle will not deploy as intended. i’ve researched this issue and jeep (fca us) recalled a majority of jeeps from ‘07-‘12 for this issue. additionally they issued an extended warranty for the clock spring for most wranglers from ‘11-‘16. my vehicle should fall within each. i’m being told by both fca us and the jeep dealership that this issue is not covered on my jeep. this seems wrong when the clock spring issue is a known defect that presents a serious safety concern.

I have a 2011 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon, i bought it new and it has not been off road except in a field or two and the only mud it has seen is from the road. it has not been lifted nor does it have over sized tires. i have had my electronic stability control light come on a few times in the 6 years i have had the vehicle, but it has always went right back off. it and the abs came on a few weeks ago and will not go off, because it thinks my vehicle is sliding or spinning, the right front brakes will grab and it cuts the power to the engine. today i was pulling out onto a main road and the brakes were acting like the abs(that warning light is also on) was pulsing, i could feel it in the pedal. as i hit the gas to pull onto a very busy highway, the esc light started flashing and cut the power to my engine and i could not go. as i was in a merge lane i was able to quickly cut to the right and get back off the road before i was hit by another vehicle. this is not the first time this has happened since this problem has been going on. i have had the jeep to the dealership and they ordered the wiring harness (broken wire they said) to fix it 2 weeks ago and they haven't contacted me that it is in yet. but i was told that because the wiring is ran through the frame they have to pull the body off to replace it. yes it is going to cost a lot to fix, but i will also have to arrange to take it to the dealership(which is about an hour away) and until i am able to do that, i still have to drive it. i contacted jeep and talked to someone with their customer service about the concerns i have with being able to pull into traffic and the brakes holding me back and asking if there was a recall for this problem, but they said no and wasn't really concerned about it. and also, the warning lights come and go, flash and it won't go, as it did today when i tried to merge into traffic.

Jeep acceleration was uncontrolled and continue to raise to high rpm while driving in the high way and took it dealer and reported to jeep customer service and we were by jeep customer care managers chris and samatha is that the oem mat even though still hooked to the hole was turned and cause the problem to accelerate uncontrolled manner and can be very dangerous.

On the 2011 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2011 jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. daimler chrysler has issued a letter stating that some jeeps may have a recall on this safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. i contacted the dealership and they stated that i do not have a recall for this issue.

We have the jeep death wobble. it has happened 3x's since purchase, 06-21-2016 starts when going over bumpy road, maybe 40-45mph. violently shaking, difficult to control steering. bounces me out of the seat, teeth rattling, feel like windows will break. stops shaking when i touch brake pedal. very scary. cruise/speed control only works part-time and radio buttons 5 and 6 do not light up like 1-4. i fear they have been "bounced apart" maybe. i live in butler co, pa the birthplace of the jeep. jeep must come through and fix this. this is embarrassing for jeep people let alone dangerous. help!

Death wobble- chrysler/jeep as long covered up the issue with their wranglers "wobbling" uncontrollably when driving over the slightest bump in the road. this is due to faulty wheel bearings/traction bars/ and steering. this issue has been going on for year and needs to be fixed correctly and cheaply. cheap parts and fixed cause death.

2011 jeep wrangler is very hard to fuel. when fueling fuel pump continually shuts off. must reduce to a very slow rate and even then it will sometimes shut off no matter what pump is used. occurs at every gas station and every pump. so now i have to pump gas into the jeep really slow been care full as not to have a fuel back splash.

On two occasions, within a two week period, the vehicle continued to accelerate after the accelerator pedal had been released. the most severe occurred while passing and overtaking another vehicle. the application of the brakes and the parking brake did nothing to stop the acceleration. during the intended passing the vehicle reached 70 mph. the unintended acceleration took the vehicle to 85 mph. eventually the vehicle stopped accelerating and was driven to the side of the roadway.

Airbag light came on today 4:10pm 06/18/16 while driving at approx 55mph in traffic, straight interstate in chicago, il and has stayed on. stopped by a jeep dealership to check codes (i was away from home dealership), service dept was closing but svc mgr scanned for diagnostic code - said it was an airbag code/ airbag malfunction. my dealership was closed. he turned off jeep and turned it on again while stationary in jeep dealership service dept, warning light came on again and stayed on all the way home, approximately 2 1/2 hrs or 150 miles. i received 2 emails on may 27, 2016 from nhtsa re: airbag recalls on jeep wranglers but my vin/model wasn't listed.

Death wobble. any time a bump is hit with the jeep above 35mph, it goes into the death wobble, which doesn't go away until the car is stopped. i've tried fixing everything possible, but it still happens. i understand this is a common problem, but it certainly seems life-threatening, as the jeep feels like it is going to break into pieces!

The fuel tank overflows every time i fill up. it spill fuel everywhere.

For the past 2 years the passenger airbag light has been illuminate on my dash. i do not know why this is. it turns on/off randomly wether someone is sitting in the passenger seat or not. additionally for the past 3 years or so the functions/buttons on the left side of the steering wheel go in/out of function. for the most part they don't work 99% of the time. it doesn't affect the driving or anything dangerous but it is annoying that these buttons don't work most of the time. as far as the passenger airbag light, this concerns me should there be some sort of accident. i have looked into this and people have spent a good amount of money and the light still is on. i saw that in june, 2015 and investigation was started regarding this and wanted to put in my two cents. i hope that a solution is found for this.

The engine cunsumes oil at a very high rate! told 1 quart every 1,000 by the dealership! in august 2013 while driving on a highway i had a rod baring snap and shoot metal chips into the oil pan at 52,000, the whole engine locked up and needed replaced. on may 7th 2016, again driving on the highway at 56,000 miles on the new engine, same exact thing rod baring snapped, metal hips into the oil pan, engine locked up and needed replace! the dealership inspected the oil pan and i was told there was absolutely no neglect on my part! i always has the oil changed between 3,000-5,000 miles.. i was told by the dealership this is a common issue. i can not believe this engine has not been totally recalled!!

My airbag light came on in my 2011 jeep rubicon. a recall was issued two days after i called both chrysler and by dealership complaining about my issue. i was told that i was basically on my own to cover the cost of the replacement clockspring. recall information "(fca us llc) is recalling 394,258 model year 2007-2010 jeep wrangler jk vehicles manufactured march 2, 2006, to august 13, 2010." this does not cover my 2011 jeep which was manufactured september 2010. a month from the cut off date. my jeep has the same engine as the the 2010s unlike the later build 2011 jeeps. it also has the same exact clockspring as well.

The vehicle displays an airbag warning light and chime that may indicate a failure of the clockspring wiring in the drivers side air bag circuit. odi investigated the rhd (right hand drive) wrangler for a clockspring issue under pe11-019 which led to nhtsa recall 11v258 on model year (my) 2008-2012 rhd wranglers as well as an extended warranty campaign on my 2007 lhd wrangler vehicles. current investigation: pe 15-025 has the same symptom as my lhd wrangler.

Clock spring failed causing the airbag to stop functioning. this has already been recalled in the 2011 right hand steer vehicles and in the 2008-2010 model year left and right hand steer wranglers apparently it is still a problem

Unintended acceleration causing accident and risk of life !

The clockspring on my 2011 jeep wrangler (left handed drive) has failed causing the airbags to become dysfunctional and airbag light to engage. fca has recalled right handed drive jeep wranglers 2007-2012 under the attached recall notification. fca has also recalled 2007 lhd jeep wranglers for this same issue. the root cause of these recalls was determined to be dust accumulation in the grease of the clockspring as seen in the attached recall notification. the clockspring part in both lhd and rhd variations of this model jeep wrangler include a similar, if not the same, clockspring part. the amount of dust that a jeep wrangler is subject to does not correlate to the position of the steering wheel and clockspring. i would suspect that a vehicle with less that 70,000 miles and 5 years of use should not have airbag failure. i have contacted my local jeep dealership which then instructed me to contact the fca jeep warranty/recall 800 number in addition to the fca headquarter's 800 number. after speaking with a representative at the fca headquarters hotline i was told that the recall does not apply to my lhd 2011 jeep wrangler and the repair was to be made from out of my pocket. as of june 2015 there has been an open investigation into this issue for lhd jeep wranglers as seen in the link below. http://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/chrysler/2015/06/23/nhtsa-probe-jeep-wrangler/29150093/

Air bag light going on and off ever 2-4 minutes with a chime each time. light goes on and of weather in motion or at a standstill. had mechanic scan for obd codes. code came back as b1b02 clock spring failure. rhd jeeps have been recalled for this exact issue but not lhd. this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed to all wranglers of these years and not just the rhd.

Very bad wobble in front end ....happens at any speed , but the faster you go the worse it gets (jeep death wobble) ....dealer said it is the tires ....but i should not have to change my tires every 6 months .......i have had close calls on the highway going 65 miles an hour when the death wobble starts jeep is a 2011 i have had it for almost 5 years ....have taken to dealer for this more times than i can remember.

"takata recall" recently, on a dry, sunny, moderately warm day i was driving a normal speed on a normal road, downward sloping, at a low speed and the airbag warning light chimed and illuminated. it's been four days and the light remains on, and continues to chime. i have owned this jeep for two years and have not had any collisions and the jeep has not been offroad, nor did i have a child in the passenger seat, where an airbag may sense a small passenger. this is a very expensive repair from what i'm finding on forums but also a safety device in a vehicle that should be covered under a warranty beyond a standard 3yr/36k warranty. seatbelts don't expire nor should an airbag in a vehicle.

I was stopped at a stop light, est and esp lights turned on. ever since i purchased the vehicle in 2013 my airbag light signals off and on. did not know about this site until now, i am concerned it was never taken in for repairs on known issues with the air bag. maybe it was seen to though and this is an electrical issue similar to the est and esp.

Nearly every time i refuel my jk, within one second of shutting off the fuel nozzle, approximately 3-8ounces of gas is forcefully expelled from the fuel inlet on the jeep. several hundred jk owners have reported similar problems with their jks on a number of internet fora additionally, there are several you tube videos documenting this problem. the problem spans all model years of the jk, both two and four door. the vehicle is stationary. i've reported the problem to jeep and they claim it's not their responsibility since no recall has been issued but i find this to be a safety issue and a potential hazard.

When you fill the vehicle, at time of automatic shut-off at pump, fuel spurts out of fill. this is not an isolated condition but continuous.

Clock spring is defective. the airbag light and warning chime comes on and goes off. the same part number was recalled on all 2007 wranglers and 2008-2012 right hand wranglers. however, the 2008-2012 left hand jeeps weren't included?

The dealer have failure to remedy this defect.

Gasoline overflows the tank when filling at every fillup, regardless of filling station brand name, time of year or filling with the nozzle handle held by hand or using the auto fill mode.

Traveling on highway over 45mpr, over minor bumpy entrance to overpass, my vehicle experiences the known "death wobble". nbc news i-team reported on this very same jeep manufacturing issue. my rubicon immediately began shaking uncontrollably and i had to slow down to approximately 15 mpr. the first time it happened. now, it happens all the time in the same area. the road is straight, no turns and the "bumps" are not pot-holes. i have to hang on to the steering wheel very tight and pray no car is next to me. my tires are aligned and i have them inspected regularly. my dealership said it's a known problem and they actually have a "couple of roads by the dealership they test drive their chrysler & jeep vehicles with that problem because it always happens." today was the latest event and i contacted my jeep dealership.

When filling up gas tank, pump clicks off and then fuel spills out. this occurs at different gas stations.

I have a bad clockspring which has been recalled on right handed wranglers for the same year but has not yet for the left handed wranglers and it is causing my airbag light to illuminate while i am driving and while i am staying still and could affect my airbag from deploying when needed.

After my horn started going on and off on its own, i did some research and found out that this is typically related to the tipm problem. contacted my dealer, and they quoted me $1200 to repair. also found out that this has been an issue with the 08 models and that the part numbers are the same, but for some reason chrysler stopped the recall after the 08 models. my jeep has about 71,000 miles on it, which is basically nothing. aggravated to beyond belief

Fuel overfill shut off not working resulting in large spray of fuel.

Fuel overflows from their tank during the refueling process. the fuel system does not seem to respond to the shut-off mechanism, which means gas spills out onto the ground, the car and even the owner. this isn’t a simple little fuel leak either, this is more like a fuel geyser.

Continuing failure of electric clock spring/ cruise / horn systems. it has been to dealer 4 times and "fixed" and then re-fails within a short amount of miles. 6314, 9057, 10730, 18456 and is currently failing again(22000). back to dealer as soon as i can schedule. i will first notice that the cruise control will not turn on and some times the horn will not work. however sometimes if i can honk the horn and then the cruise control will start working again; maybe for a few 100's of a few 1,000 miles. i am worry about the possible failure of the air bag if this keeps up. please advice. my dealer keeps trying, but jeep need to resolve! thanks. i will upload copies of my prior 4 service documents.

Monday, january 11, 2016 4:21 pm transmission fire. 2011 jeep wrangler rubicon with 81k miles all maintenance. no modifications and no off roading. lost power on an inclined road. then the car shut off after all the panels went crazy and then black smoke started pouring out of the hood area. only thing that kept my car from going up in flames was it was pouring down rain and i was on an incline. the 100000 mile / 5 year power tran warranty ended the day before this happened. at the time i did not know it was an engine fire do to the rain and all the black smoke. the dealership has been no help and both did not even mention fire until i did further investigation and had a private mechanic look at it. i am in the process of waiting on an insurance adjuster to complete their investigation.

6/9/15 had tires replaced & aligned merchant's tire. 1 day later tire wobbling took it back, they claimed they couldn't assist. took it to a local shop & balance it 3 times in 2 weeks. noticed while driving, commuters stay about a half a mile away from me & flash lights. took it to the dealership marlow hts, they claim they couldn't find anything wrong. tire still wobbling took it to wal mart auto, while trying to check, they broke my wheel lock! looking for a trustworthy place to fix my vehicle. no one seems to want to work these days. a friend just sent this site & i learned of this death wobble thing in jeep wranglers. i have been dealing with this for 7 months now and i'm livid!

Re: nhtsa recall #14v-631, my mirrors, and the defrosting on them as well as my rear window worked fine but i received 2 or 3 recall notices in the mail early 2015. i took my rubicon (wrangler) into a dealership, hawk jeep in forest park, il (chicago) for the safety recall repair. the first time i had to use the defrosters after the repair was a couple of weeks ago when it snowed - nothing works! i used to see the ice/fog defrosting withing 10-15 seconds. since they did what they did, the side mirror defrosters did not work nor does my rear window defroster. the dealership obviously did some additional damage that may put me and my children at risk of fire or worse. i had no visibility driving at night on the highway. i had to pull off on an exit to a gas station to clear my rear window and spray defroster on my outside mirrors.

I went for brakes prior to 30,000. vehicle had 25,000 miles and the rotor could not be cut... it rotted through. i had to replace 1 rotor all others were fine. could have possibly affected many other vehicles.

Purchased the vechicle new, within 2500 miles vechicle leaked with over 1inch of water on the passenger side floor board, the dealer replaced the seals move forward 40k miles drive side does the same, replaced the seals. as soon as the seals have were replaced the passenger side and the center seam of the freedom panel started leaking. my vechicle has mood and mild all over the inside of the roof and under the seats. was told by the dealer that the very first fix was an obsolete fix and they have come out with a better seal kit but it would be at my cost to replace. my vechicle is now just over 70k miles and has never been dry since we bought it new. not to mention i've gone through three stereos due to the leak and shorting out as well.

Driving along about 75mph on i-26. all of a sudden all the lights inside flashed and then when dark. jeep shut down and went dead. coasted to shoulder. shut off ignition and remove the key. inserted key and started jeep. about 2 hours later, i pulled over at a rest area, shut of the jeep, and went to use the rest room. when i returned the jeep would not respond to the fob to unlock the doors, i used the key in the manual lock. jeep would not start. i disconnected the negative battery cable for about 10 seconds, and re installed. jeep started and even 2 days later no return of symptoms.

I currently own a 2011 jeep wrangler that is experiencing some electrical issues. currently the airbag light is on and there is a chime indicating such. this chime occurs approximately every 1 to 2 minutes. at about the same time the airbag light problem occurred, the other controls on the steering wheel such as the horn, cruise control and radio controls stopped functioning. i contacted jeep (chrysler) about the issue and was told they would contact me within 24-48 hours concerning this issue. approximately 10 days went by and i had not heard back from jeep. i contacted jeep and was told that they will not fix this issue. i explained to them the safety concerns with not having a working horn and a questionable airbag. this did not seem to be an issue that they were to concerned about. i've been in law enforcement for several years now, and i cannot stress enough about the importance of having a functioning airbag. this is coming from some of the accidents that i have either witnessed or worked as an investigating officer. i have found through research that several earlier model (2007-2008) jeep wranglers have been recalled for similar issues. this is a recurring problem and i am sure you have received complaints on this issue in the past. this is my second jeep and the company replaced the part that was causing the issue before. it was a 2007. this part is referred to as a clock spring and cost over $500.00 to replace. i would like for this issue to be addressed before someone is gravely affected.

Twice in last 2yrs my standard wrangler has refused to shift into geer and made a winding noise.. then stalled and refused to start for upto 10 min. it happend last fal with approx 2900 miles on it then again a few days ago with 4800 miles... not sure why or what is cause nothing is wrong according to dealership garage. also hitting any little bump for the last 30000 miles has made jeep jump like the rearend is flopping to one side also hard breaking causes same issue.. all suspension parts are either new or newer.. looks like someone tried to fix that issue and failed... i am afraid these issues will eventually cause an accident.

My jeep wrangler 2011 spit back every time me or my wife refuel the vehicle getting gas over me and the floor .if we park the vehicle inside the garage the odor of gas is very strong we decide to keep the vehicle out side . i call the authorized dealer they tell me that are not any recalls regarding the fuel system,. the main concern of this situation are if that situation can initiate a fire or the fumes can be a hazard for the members of the family .

Really annoying and very dangerous!! each time we fill up our 2011 jeep wrangler with fuel, just as the pumps automatic shut-off clicks, fuel will blow out and all over whoever is holding the pump handle. there is no indication that this is going to happen, except for the click from the pump handle a split second before you get doused. we checked with our jeep dealer to see if there is a recall, and they said there was not, however it appears to be a problem with the "inlet check valve"; a mechanical item that appears to be defective, and a severe safety concern, but is somehow not under warrantee. we went on-line to research and found similar issues with other chrysler vehicles, including 2007-2009 jeep wranglers. really aggravating to find out there had been previous complaints about this issue, chrysler knew what the issue was, but because there are not enough documented complaints for the 2011 year, it was not considered a real concern

Took 2011 jeep jk to car wash. afterwards "sway" bar light started to flash. shut car off, restarted and ran through disconnect procedures- put trans/diff in neutral and hit disconnect button- light went off. while driving jeep to work next morning, all the lights on the dash board flashed and car shut off. jeep would not start. tipm was fried with disconnect motor. water had got into connection by sway bar disconnect motor. they are not water tight. have read other stories of happening during rain storms.

I was driving down the highway at approximately 45mph, and i experienced a wobble/vibration/shaking in the steering. i slowed down to approximately 40mph, and arrived at my destination. a few days later, i was driving down the highway again at approximately 50mph, and my jeep started violently wobbling/shaking/vibration to the point where i could barely maintain control of my jeep. upon slowing down to approximately 35mph, the jeep continued to wobble/shake/vibrate violently to the point where i had to pull off of the road. i checked tires for looseness and did not find that they were loose. i got back in my jeep and continued to my desitination driving under the speed limit at approximately 35mph with my four way hazard lights flashing because i was afraid of losing control of my jeep. once i got to my destination, i proceeded to pull off the passenger front tire to check for anything out of the ordinary that would explain the wobble/vibration/shaking. nothing looked damaged/low on fluid/broken so i put the tire back on. i then proceeded to a tire business and had all four tires balanced and rotated. the wobble/shaking/vibration seemed to improve but this did not solve the issue. the jeep continued to wobble/shake/vibrate when trying to slow down therefore this is an ongoing issue. the steering stabilizer has also been replaced which seems to make this issue worse and the issue is still not resolved. i am afraid to drive it now due to safety issues/concerns.

My gas cap keeps falling out and a light that says gas cap on my dash with engine light came on. we took it to auto zone they put it on their machine and it says need to replace gas cap so we did the light didnt go out but today sept 8,2015 the gas cap that i bought fell out and broke to pieces on pavement going 55 miles per hr. what is wrong with this problem how do i correct it. and now i also have a light on my dash that looks like a car skidding but my anti skid button is where it is suppose to be. i took it a month ago they told me their machine wouldnt pick it up but they said they thought it has to do with anti braking system. could you please help me

The door locks are sporadically locking and unlocking and not responsive some of the time. online research indicates that many other 2011 jeeps are also having faulty tipms.

While frwy. driving at approx. 72 mph / 2600 rpms and without warning or indication of malfunction, we heard a pop, and immediately noticed smoke coming from the vehicle. the driver maneuvered the vehicle to the right shoulder. upon exiting the vehicle i noticed smoke and flames coming from the underside and engine compartment. my family immediately exited the vehicle and i used a fire extinguisher to extinguished the fire that was engulfing the engine compartment and undercarriage of the jeep. after extinguishing the fire, i was able to inspect the vehicle. i noticed a large hole in the lower engine block just behind the oil pan on the passenger side. additionally, the metal heat shield that sits just to the side of the engine was bent backward. it appears that the engine malfunctioned and threw a bearing or other engine part through the outer motor casing releasing oil and causing the resultant fire and damage. however, i can not rule out a computer malfunction resulting in engine failure vs. pure mechanical engine failure. it has been over two weeks since the incident and chrysler has just informed me they will not cover the repairs under the existing 5 year/50,000 mile drive train warranty that had not expired and was provided as part of the original purchase agreement in july 2011. their response was "we have had the opportunity to review the inspection report and must inform you that we are not led to believe that the incident was due to a manufacturing responsibility."

Jeep goes into a death wobble at highway speed with no warning very difficult to handle, must decrease speed drastically or pull off road toget jeep back under control

I was driving my 2011 jeep wrangler about 5-8 mph when i heard a “pop” type of noise. i then saw a flame under the hood on the passenger side. all of a sudden, my throttle locked up and my car wouldn’t stop. i had both feet on the brakes, but my tires kept spinning. my electrical was locked up and i couldn’t get the jeep out of drive and into park. my boyfriend ran over, jumped in the passenger side to try to get the jeep into park, as i couldn’t get it to move. he fractured his hand in two places getting the gearshift to go into park. at this point there was black smoke coming from the under the hood. he was finally able to get it into park. at that point he helped pull me out the passenger side of the jeep as the fire/flames were starting to come thru the dashboard into the inside of the jeep. it took about an hour to get the fire out, then approx. 15-20 min later the fire started again on the passenger side.

While driving my jeep from home to work, i was probably five minutes into the drive when my air bag light begins to ding on and off every couple of seconds. i was driving on the same residential street i always take to work and have never experienced any issues in the past. my vehicle is very well taken care of and is not abused like some jeeps. after work i was doing research as to what could cause the problem and the consensus seemed to be that if a jeep was rained on your clock spring would soon go bad. i have removed both the top and doors from my jeep, but the jeep has never been rained on. my jeep is garage kept and the only elements it has been exposed to is heat and dust. also, i experienced this issue in january and i am in northern ut so this vehicle has not even had the top off within six months from the incident. The front two doors of my jeep leak water. if it rains over night the passenger floor board will have 3/4 inch of standing water, the door leaks more when driving while raining. the driver side door leaks, but only when driving and not enough to fill the floor board. i shop vacuum the passenger floor board every time it rains to get the standing water out, then put towels down to soak up what is left. the carpet now smells moldy, this is a safety issue concerning my health. jeep has a service bulletin of 23-010-13 (formally 23-001-12) out, so they know about the issue. why can they not do a recall on the issue? *tr

My 2011 jeep wrangler has major electrical problems. the windshield wipers wouldn't turn off even after shutting off the engine. i pulled the fuse but they still stayed on. i could smell something electrical burning so i had to disconnect the battery. also the door locks don't work and front cigarette lighter stopped working. i called the dealer and made an appointment to bring it in. while driving to the dealer the jeep started to shake horribly when accelerating (due to electrical issues with the fuel pump). the dealer says that i need a new totally integrated power control module (tipm). the cost is well over $1000 (the vehicle is out of warranty). when i searched tipm problems on-line i found that chrysler has tons of complaints about this but the only issued a recall on a few vehicle models and wrangler wasn't included. there are obviously a bigger number of vehicles affected and chrysler should recall the remaining models. *tr

December 2013, when temperatures reached freezing and lower, vehicle started overflowing during refueling. this occurred on every refueling occurrence that the gas pump should have shut off once the tank was full. this occurred from december 2013 until march 2014 when i was able to get the vehicle in for maintenance. the vapor canister and leak detection pump filter were replaced. december 2014, temperatures reached freezing and below; vehicle is again overflowing during all refueling when the pump should have shut off on its own. this has occurred at multiple gas stations and is not isolated to one brand of gasoline, fueling station, or state. once the problem begins it does not stop when temperatures increase above freezing and higher. obviously there is some kind of defect in this system, but so far jeep/mopar has refused to acknowledge it for 2011 jeep wrangler unlimiteds. *tr

For the third fill-up in a row, when the pump shuts off an additional amount of gas spurts out of the fill up tube and down the rear left side of the jeep. the jeep is not obeying/monitoring the level of the fuel being pumped into it and when it rises to a normal cut off level the jeep ignores it and allows more fuel to enter the vehicle. it's too late to shut it off each time. each time it has done this it burps up about 1/2 a gallon to a gallon of gas. it's discoloring the plastic fender and causing a mess. i have never had a vehicle do this before. every vehicle i have owned shuts off correctly, they have monitored the fuel intake level and signaled full before the overflow happens. like how it should work. *js

I was traveling north it had snowed the day prior roads were slick or so i thought the jeep was steering strange i was traveling up a small incline and took the first of two turns i made the first and lost all control going into the second in to the ditch missing a large tree and bounced out of the ditch and down the ditch on the other side. with my seat belt on i was still thrown all around the cab of the jeep in pain still thank you. after getting a tow truck we found the steering bar coming off the steering box was off and when we looked closer the shaft on the steering box had broken completely off. i find this hard to be leave that shaft is over a half inch thick. so to sum it up i am very lucky i had not made it to the highway it would no have been a good thing for myself and any other drivers on the highway that night. *tr

I have been experiencing electrical problems with my vehicle since i purchased it in november 2010. there has been systemic electrical failures that are getting progressively worse and putting my safety at risk. i have been getting the run around with chrysler regarding the problems. - i purchased the vehicle brand new from a jeep dealer in los angeles california. since being purchased the following components have failed intermittently. each part simply stopped working while i was driving the vehicle and in order to make them start working again i would have to pull over turn the car off wait a few minutes then turn the car back on (horn, lights, window maser switch, car stereo, car stereo amp, driver's airbag). once i restarted the car it seemed like the jeep would reset and the parts would start working again. jeep has been replacing these items, but they would never root cause the problem. - most recently chrysler discovered that the fuse box & electrical cluster were defective. it took jeep 77 days to replace the 2 parts. the worse part is they tried to have me drive the vehicle during those 77 days until the parts became available putting me and any vehicle around me at risk of injury and death. this in my opinion is a serious safety hazard. - while i hope this is the end of my problems.. i think the nhtsa should investigate jeep chrysler's electrical cluster and components to ensure that they are worthy of being in vehicles on the road. *tr

Was entering onto the interstate when my 2011 jeep wrangler completely shut off, all warning lights on the dash came on, power steering went out, and headlights turned off. immediately maneuvered the jeep off of the interstate where i sat in 20 degree weather for a half hour before it would start back. two weeks later i was driving down the interstate in a rain storm and the windshield wipers completely shut off. once again, we had to carefully get off of the interstate and try to get them working, which we failed to do. had to wait until the storm passed before we were able to get the vehicle home. my husband is a mechanic and began driving the jeep on a daily basis with a computer hooked to it in hopes to catch a code. once again, the jeep shut off all power and threw a code for the tipm module. since then, we've had several instances where the jeep looses all power and shuts off along with the traction control kicking off and on. we bought the jeep and had it for only 3 weeks before the problems began. we've contacted the dealer we purchased from, several jeep dealerships and chrysler directly and received the run around by all of them. we contacted our local jeep dealer where we were told that the tipm modules were a common problem and they were on back order with no estimated time of arrival, but they would call when it came in. that was 8 months ago and still we haven't received a call. i'm always nervous when i drive it now because you never know when is going to shut off in traffic and cause a wreck because you can't get off of the interstate nor can you steer easily. i really wish chrysler would own up to this issue before it kills someone! *tr

Driving about 40 mph and jeep stalls while driving, everything turns off and radio resets time back to 12, done it more than 10 times, i take it to a dealer and have the computer connected and they say no codes show up. *tr

The passenger side floor board fills with water (under the floor mat) on my 2011 jeep wrangler. during any rain storm, my passenger side floor is drenched (puddles of water) vehicle has been in for repairs since 8/2011 (dates of service 8/1/2011; 1/17/2014 and 5/9/2014) now that the warranty has expired, we are at a lost on how to handle this. *tr

June 23rd, after beginning to move after traffic was thining out, the engine shut off and would not start back up. after checking fluids and temp levels (electrical gauges still worked), i could only assume this was a sensor issue. after the vehicle had been towed to a dealership, the next day it was confirmed that the tipm (total integrated power module) had went bad, and needed to be replaced. this part is coded specifically for the vehicle (used ones cannot work). i was told that the part could take up to a month to replace because chrysler was not releasing them due to an issue with them. once this was found out, it struck me as odd seeing as i was never notified about a recall, and if this was a known issue, shouldnt one have been sent out? *js

My 2011 left hand drive jeep wrangler jk (4 door) has a warning light on the dash. dealer determined it is the "clock spring". upon further research, it is clear that this is a common failure. there is a recall on the 1997 model and all of the right hand drive models (mail deliver). the part is the same in all of them. this needs to be addressed before there is serious fatality (the airbag may not work as a result). a recall is necessary for all the left hand models as well. *tr

Every time you fill up the jeep, gas spills onto the side of the jeep and all over the ground. it seems a lot of jeep owners have this same problem. is it going to take someone being hurt or catching fire before this becomes a recall? seems there is at this point enough complaints about this year model for something to be done, before a lawsuit is filed! *js

While driving on the freeway my vehicle lost power. i was able to turn the key off then on again and start it while in neutral. it was just after hitting a large seam in the highway. i later replicated the incident in a vacant parking lot and found that i could be driving bump the keys and the vehicle would shut down. also gave a quick downward tug to my key ring simulating hitting a bump and the vehicle shut down at that point also. *tr

Every single time i fill up the fuel tank, fuel spills out (spits out all over the back driver's side panel). this has been a problem since i've purchased the jeep. i have to manually calculate how many gallons to put in every time i go to the gas pump. i've tried several different gas stations and pumps along with several different strategies of holding the gas pump and regardless the spills still happen when attempting to fill the tank full with gas. i've searched online for recalls relating to this and they appear to be out there for this problem but not for 2011 model jeep wrangler. i've contacted the dealership, but have been told that they will not cover the cost to replace the fuel tank, since it has not been recalled. it appears the only fix for this is to replace the fuel tank, but i feel like if it's a known problem with jeep wranglers, i should not have to come out of pocket for the fix. i'm not really sure who to go to from here for a resolution. *tr

I own a 2011 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited which i purchased as a new vehicle. it presently has over 90,000 miles on it. recently, i noticed a ticking sound coming from the motor - detectable from outside the car, but not noticeable when driving. a fellow at a car wash mentioned that he had the same issue with his jeep and said that the issue turned out to be "valve lifters" and that the problem was resolved under the car's drive train warranty. i took my car to a dealer in for a regular oil change and asked to have the ticking sound checked by a mechanic. i was told that the sound was coming from the "top end" of the motor - and would have to bring it in again for a more lengthy evaluation - which i did. i made an appointment for service - took the vehicle in - and rented a car for what i expected to be several days of service. that was about a month ago. subsequently, i've been told that the repairs to the top end of the engine did not resolve the problem and that the entire engine would have to be replaced. the dealer apparently ordered a "long block" replacement engine from chrysler, but has been having problems obtaining other parts that are involved in the repair. the dealer also told me to contact chrysler's warranty guys about seeking some relief for the cost of the car rental - which i did, but to no avail. i should add that i have been continually assured that the engine replacement is covered by the car's drive train warranty. however, i also came across an article in "autoweek" detailing problems chrysler was experiencing with jeep engines of my car's vintage - and that the engine replacements were being exacerbated by failures in chrylser's parts supply chain. this had resulted in both nhsta's involvement and to payments to other owners to offset the financial burden of the attenuated warranty repairs. i'm reporting this on this basis. *tr

My gas tank overflows at the pump every time i re-fuel. the pump will shut off when full, then shortly after, overflow spills out onto the ground. the only way to prevent this issue is to guess when it is getting close to full and stop the pump before it is full. *js

Ever since i've purchased my used 2011 wrangler it has spit fuel onto jeep/ground while filling the tank. sometimes as much as 1/2 gal fuel. there is a tsb for 2007/2008 wranglers to have tank replaced. there needs to be another one for newer jeeps. several complaints for the 2011 are listed on your site for the same problem. *tr

I started feeling a warble when i would hit a bump on the road, took it into a les schawb they told me it was warn tie rod ends, so i then took it to jeep dealer 'lithia" in eugene oregon they inspected it and said nothing was wrong. today i was coming home on hwy 126 and after i hit a part of the road that is rough, the jeep totally went out of control the whole thing was shaking so bad i had everything i could do to slow it down and pull off to the side of the road, it probably would feel like if all 4 tires popped at once. it scared me so bad, i was just shaking. i got out looked at all the tires, and underneath,l seen nothing wrong so i put on my 4 way flashers and drove home the last 3 miles at a crawl. i will contact jeep again on monday and tell them there is a problem, the power steering has also went out twice on this and had to be fixed. *tr

Using my 2011 jeep wrangler (right hand drive), i deliver mail for the u.s. postal service. was delivering mail on my rural route. date was 4th of feb.2014. the problem was a fire in the engine compartment. causing damage to the wiring harness , many other wires, compartment plastics ,and gas line. the cause appears to be hot oil from the transmission dipping onto the engine and transmission . i only see that the fill tube on the transmission was the leak. i heard a fire ignite , open the car hood and seen the black smoke i then put out the fire. it is now the date-march 18 ,2014. i have no support from chrysler corporation for repair of my problem. their investigation stated an investigation into the incident found no manufacturing defect that caused the incident on 2-3-2014. i have now turned this over to my car insurance company . they say i should use the lemon law. this vehicle was repaired for a bad transmission in nov. of 2013. i do not see why i should of had more problems. the insurance company cost to repair is $5000. if the transmission is bad i was told by the dealer for the jeep ,a new transmission would cost me personally $5000. thank you. *tr

I started my jeep this morning in my driveway with the factory remote start, 10 min later i walked out of my house and saw flames and smoke coming from my drivers side door. a car driving by had stopped and called 911. another neighbor ran over with a fire extinguisher and we were able to get the fire in control before the fire department got there. the driver side door is completely destroyed and melted, the window is gone. the roof, seat and surrounding area are also damaged. the fire appeared to have started somewhere in the driver side door. i called jeep twice today thinking they would be concerned and responsive, but i was told it would be 2-5 days before they could have someone come out and inspect the car. in the meantime i wait carless...thank goodness my 2 children were not in the car when it happened. i did some research this evening and found the exact same thing happened to a couple in montreal last january and found reports of this happening 2 other times with the exact same make, model & year jeep. *tr

When filling with fuel, after the pump finishes putting fuel into the vehicle, fuel surges back out of the fill neck. it appears to be about one half gallon spills out onto the vehicle and ground. it does not matter whether the pump is being run in automatic or manual mode. nor does it matter at what rate the fuel is being added. when contacted, the dealer said it was not covered for this vin series. *tr

I started to hear a knocking noise for 3-5 seconds on a cold start. it did not do this on any sequential starts for that day. took it to the dealer, who changed oil filter and oil. still made sound on receiving vehicle. took in again and dealer replaced the lifters. still made noise upon receipt. took in for a third time, they are now saying it is a normal noise, even though it never made it before. jeep specialists say that this is a normal noise as well. after researching on-line, i have found a large amount of information leading to a malfunctioning cylinder head on the exact make and model of my jeep engine. there have been thousands replaced, but for some reason this was not even considered for my vehicle. *tr

The gas always spills over from the gas tank after i put fuel in the tank. it doesn't matter if i put a few gallons in the tank or fill it full. it spills gas all over my jeep and on the ground. *tr

Around the date listed above, and since then with every fuel fill up, once the fuel nozzle stops filling, the vehicle spills fuel all over the outside of the vehicle and onto the ground, creating a fire hazard. it did not do this when it was new, and it happens at all different fuel pumps and filling stations. there is a recall for similar vehicles, but it does not include this year. i think that it should. *tr

My clock spring is inop there is a recall for this on right side drive jeeps well mine is a left side drive with the same issues that the right side drive has why isn't it a recall for all clock springs they are the same part number for both side drives please fix this as it also affects my horn and airbag. thank you *tr

I began driving down the street going about 45 mph when the steering wheel start to shake violently from left to right. which caused the whole vehicle to shake. i applied the breaks and pulled over. i thought i blew out a tire or snapped a lug on one of the wheels. walked around the vehicle and everything looked fine. when i came back up to 40 mph and started to happen again. it didn't happen again for a few weeks. then it happened again with i was coming around on a ramp to enter the interstate. i was going about 60 at this time and had to slow down immediately to keep from running into the concrete barricades. now it happens once or more a week when i turn or drive up to 40 mph and more. have not been in accident from it yet because no one has followed me too close when i have to apply the brakes.

When filling up the gas tank, i set the pump to continuously fill. the pump doesn't stop when the tank is full, causing the fuel to overflow outside the jeep. and with the unknown part (header bar) leaks everytime it rains. it leaks from the top of the driver side window...and it's not just a little leak either, it sometimes looks like a waterfall! took it to the jeep dealership, and they said it was warped. both seem to be a common issue with jeeps wrangler models.

I was driving up a slight incline (off road) for approximately 3-4 miles when the "hot oil" warning light came on. i was not in four-wheel drive. i was not towing any trailer or device. the road conditions did not warrant four-wheel drive operation. this situation repeated itself 2 more times the next following day. i discussed this issue with a local jeep dealer and with the chrysler customer rep, but with no satisfaction. they told me i needed to pay to install a transmission cooler at my cost. sure is nice to have a "trail-rated" jeep wrangler that can not handle a slight incline!!!! *tr

Purchased this jeep used last month. filled the jeep with gas. the gas poured out of the gas tank down the jeep and all over the ground. it happened again today. the gas is a pollutant. the gas is dangerous. i have never seen anything like this happen before. *tr

For some time the vehicle has had an intermittent electrical starting problem, which results in a personal safety issue. most times the vehicle starts properly. at times, however, when the key is inserted and turned, nothing happens. sometimes the vehicle can then be started using the remote start and then operated by quickly inserting the key and turning it. at times neither the key nor the remote start will work. typically, by alternating between attempts to use the key and remote start, the vehicle can be started within 15 minutes. the vehicle was recalled due to this issue and was recently taken to koons tysons chrysler in virginia for service. however, after the vehicle was returned with a €œsoftware upgrade€ to correct the issue, the problem continues. it was again taken this week to koons tysons chrysler to fix the problem, but the service center says it cannot replicate the problem on its lot and therefore won€™t do anything more. it says it completely believes there is an issue, but wants to return the vehicle, wait until the problem occurs again, and then have it towed to its service center for appraisal. obviously, this is not a practical solution. it could present a dangerous situation of having my wife stuck who knows where (a dark parking lot, railroad crossing, etc.) with a vehicle that won€™t start. this is a known issue for a vehicle under warranty and chrysler needs to step to the plate, take responsibility, and fix the problem. in the meantime, i'm driving a rental car at my expense as chrysler will neither pay the rental bill nor fix its vehicle. *tr

We had three blow outs on goodyear tires with less than 15,000 miles on a 50000 mile tire in less than 1 mile on a state gravel road. we were only going 20 mph and the belts broke in the thickest part of the tire. i was being followed by another person on the third one. goodyear is not standing behind tires saying i was off-roading on a state road. if i was going any faster i would of flipped. i talked with other people and are having problems after 15,000 miles. i could understand with one , maybe two tires, but three at20mph with a short distance. goodyear told me the tires are not to be driven on gravel. 90 percent of people drive on some type during the life of tire. they were being sold in a area were gravel is prevalent and they are not safe. no tire should fail in this way at 20 mph with a belt break with a small rock like would be found on many highways in many situations. these are goodyear wranglers sr-a made for off road vehicles such as 4x4s, trucks and many other vehicles made for dirt. *tr

Since i have had the jeep the top has leaked and this happened before i had ever taken the top off. in doing my research this has happened to 100s of other people. one was able to successfully initiate the lemon law and after that succeeded she found crysler manipulated the vin records. i have gotten no help bringing the jeep back it happens i dry it out. if not the carpet gets moldy and smells. my neighbor has the same year and make same issue we have both given up and just have to deal with it. i cannot keep taking time out of my day to bring it back to the dealer as i had 5 times prior. i love the jeep but having rain pour in if its coming down hard enough or coming into puddles is frustrating and for a new vehicle it's unacceptable. the only response i have gotten from jeep is bring it in again there is no design flaw yet the deales will admits there is. i have ahead left on my lease and so frustrated. i will be on vacation starting thursday but needed to fill this out after another discussion with customer service and they said oh well essentially it's a jeep they leak :( sure moldy floors, and what other safety issues are there? this forum u can find wealth of other complaints or by doing a simple google search on jk leaky tops. *tr

While driving under 30 mph on asphalt, dash display indicated "hot oil" with an audible ding. placed in park and allowed the transmission to cool down. first time this has happened to my jeep, however after research this is a common issue due to the transmission cooler not doing its job. can result in equipment failure or fire. jeep corrects issue after a failure, however if you wait for failure then you risk fire. with 2 children and my wife in the jeep, this is unacceptable and needs to be addressed now for safety. *tr

Whenever i am traveling on a two lane road at approximately 55 mph and am passed from the opposite direction by a large semi, also traveling at approximately the same speed, the hood on my wrangler lifts off its seat from the gust of wind created by the semi. after the semi has passed, the hood settles back down. the hood latches are made of rubber and allow the hood to do this. this can be a little scary especially if you are being passed by multiple trucks. the hood goes up, comes back down, and then repeats this until all of the trucks have passed. could the hood latches fail and allow the hood to hit the front windshield? *tr

Transmission is a standard shift when i let out on clutch the engine will stall. at first i thought because i was not letting out on clutch properly and had to get used to driving it.my boy friend who drives a diesel truck with a standard everyday had the incident happen to him and suggested we take it in for service .which they said they test drove and concluded no problems many times back to dealership with no luck now i'm out of warranty. the vehicle is very dangerous it stalls all the time when i sit and idle at a red light or a cross road at a stop sign when i let out on clutch it starts rolling fine when clutch is disengaged it will not take the gas then engine will sputter then die. can someone from your agency test my jeep please it is going to cause me to get into a wreck. i live in mobile alabama. *tr

Dealer indicated that clock spring was faulty and needed replacement. was told that this was not covered under warranty and would cost $500. research has shown that chrysler extended warranty on 2008 model to 150k miles or 10 years due to faulty clock spring. it does not appear that the design flaw was corrected and i feel that this part should be covered under warranty by chrysler for all model years. *tr

I use my jeep off roading once in a while, everytime i get off into sand whether its hard packed or soft my transmission over temp light comes on. the first time i had this happen i stooped and read the owners manual on what causes this light and what actions to take to correct it. the manual says to immediately stop the car and turn it off, which is ridiculous out in the middle of nowhere. i researched this issue and found that the transmission fluid may overheat and start a fire as it spews out the dip stick tube. this is crazy, why did they not put a transmission cooler on this car. i have had 7 other wranglers over the years and have not had this issue or threat of a fire before. stopping your car to prevent a fire should not be an idiot light, it needs an engineering fix. *tr

While traveling on a highway or a high speed service road, my jeep will begin to shake tremendously. i have researched and found this is known as the "death wobble." i am a younger driver and when the first incident happened, i began to freak. although not very many accidents actually occur i am still scared that it will happen again. sometimes i can feel it coming on but nothing ever happens. this has happened 3 times in a week and a half, once at 67mph, once at 60mph, and once at 55mph. this is a very scary event and i hope to get it fixed soon. i wish that you would take the time to look over this incident and fix it. once again being a young driver this is very scary. i have had my jeep for a year and 2 months and this is the first time it has happened. *tr

We bought two 2011 jeep wranglers in july 2011. starting in sept. we noticed when it rains the passenger side floor and seat would get completely soaked, took it to dealer and they said it was fixed. now every time it rains both of them leak on passenger side. so i will be taking both of them back in to dealership. when i started researching this online i noticed that this is happening on several jeep wranglers, so why hasn't there been a recall involved with this?? *tr

The first incident occurred on 9/26. my partner was driving to work and made a right hand turn from mt. holly huntersville rd on to harris blvd. he was traveling 45 mph and hit a small dip in the road while going around a curve. after hitting the bump the vehicle shook so violently it felt as if the tires were going to fly off the car, steering the vehicle became almost impossible. luckily he was able to pull over near pet's mart as he slowed the shaking lessened. after putting the car in park and shutting the car off he looked to ensure there were no flat tires. all tires were good, he again started the car and arrived to work safely. i researched this type of incident and found the symptoms to be related to the "death wobble." immediately i called lake norman jeep dealership explained the issues and scheduled an appointment for 9/28. at the dealership they installed a steering damper and balanced the tires. we were hoping this solved the problem it didn't. tonight (10/8) my partner was exiting 277 on to highway 16 traveling 55 mph and again experienced the "death wobble." as he was merging onto highway 16 the car again shook so violently he could not control the steering, there was a car next to him and in the rear. an attempt to turn the car made the shaking worse. he quickly put on his hazards and slowed the jeep down to 20 mph on this highway. he was only able to regain control of the steering after the car reached 20 mph. luckily no one was hurt and he arrived home safely. i am concerned that this is a known issue for jeep and yet there has not been a recall on this product. *tr

Around 12/14/2011 hit a bump in the road my jeep started to shaking lost control was able to slow down and regain death wobble they call it brought it to the dealer they replaced stealing damper thing where good to around 09/01/2011 same thing happened brought it back to dealer he balanced front tires then around 09/26/2012 same thing brought it back on09/29/2012 dealer checked it out said all was good and tight on 09/30/2012 on my way from ny to cape cod on 84 in hartford it happened again this time it was close drivers around saw and moved out of the way but no crash got back home ok taking it slow brought to dealer on 10/08/2012 they test drove it checked wheel alignment said all was good chrysler jeep of warwick ny and chrysler corp have a problem this death wobble is going to kill someone someday. *tr

Dear[xxx] a very high profile accident occurred in the chattanooga, tennessee area on april 30, 2011. on that date a [xxx] drove off a cliff on signal mountain and went missing for 7 months... t-3.4 secs, the yaw rate sensor showed a sudden change in the yaw rate from -23 degrees/second to 0 degrees/second in 0.2 secs. t-2.9 secs, the vehicle detects the sudden change in the yaw rate and causes the esp traction lamp to start flashing. the lamp remains flashing up until the impact with a 300# boulder at which time the airbags deployed recording these data. t-2.5 secs, the driver notices the flashing esp traction lamp in 0.4 secs lifting her foot off the accelerator briefly for 0.3 seconds. the accelerator position is indicated by the blue line. she then reapplied the accelerator to the same location by t-2.2 secs indicating that she realized she was not sliding despite the esp traction indicator. she had her vehicle under control at this time. t-1.8 secs, the esp module apparently told the electronic stability pump to lock both front wheels while allowing both back wheels to keep driving the vehicle forward. this suggests that in addition to her yaw sensor failure there was also a software error that took place. (i know of no circumstance when one would want both front wheels to lock in order to stabilize a vehicle in motion). the locking of both front wheels then caused her to lose control ultimately plunging her off the 300 foot cliff. t-0.5 secs, although the driver is still 0.5 sec from the airbag deployment the yaw rate sensor lost communication with the airbag deployment recorder confirming that her yaw rate sensor had failed, i.e. these readings are denoted as sna. Shifting the 4-wheel drive transfer case (tc) from 2hi to 4hi or 4low (or in reverse order) can cause the transfer case shifting cable (tcsc) (mopar part 52060462ag) to fail and become disconnected from either the tc or the shift lever in the cab (or both). the part?s plastic components are inherently too weak to withstand normal use. safety risks which can arise upon component failure, if the vehicle owner and their family (children) are at a location and/or terrain where the vehicle is designed/marketed for travel (whether by recreation or necessity), and the location/terrain is: (i) subject to inclement weather (e.g. snow, ice, flooding, extreme heat); or (ii) on an extreme incline which is unsafe to negotiate without 4wd; or (iii) any circumstance which requires 4wd to navigate to a safe location; or (iv) the tcsc fails when the tc becomes stuck in the neutral position while shifting, and is unable to escape impending harm (flash flood) ... there is obvious risk to life/safety. the owner has a right to rely on the components and reasonable safety performance for which the product is designed/marketed. jeep is aware of the issue, and the manual fails to cite this as a possible catastrophic event, leaving the unsuspecting owner at a loss in an emergency situation. it is not reasonable for this component to fail within a few thousand miles as reported by jeep owners. advance adapters (www.advanceadapters.com) manufactures a tcsc which meets the criteria (product# 715596) required for this component. there is no reason that jeep cannot do the same and/or contract with advance adaptors to supply the part to jeep owners. we urge nhtsa?s investigation of this safety defect and jeep will redesign the defective part and issue a recall for affected vehicles on which the part was installed as oem and to extend the warranty to replacement for life of the vehicle. *tr

While traveling on the highway at approximately 55-60 mph, my 2011 4-door jeep wrangler hit a small bump. the jeep's front-end/steering wheel began to shake uncontrollably. when trying to reduce the speed by braking, the violent shaking only became worse. i was unable to keep the vehicle in the lane which i was driving because of the out-of-control shaking. had there been other vehicles in the adjacent lanes, there most definitely would have been an accident, with possible injuries, given the rate of speed that i was traveling. i had to reduce the speed of the vehicle simply by not applying the gas or brake, causing cars behind me to have to brake, which in turn could have resulted in additional accidents/injuries. this uncontrollable shaking has occurred in this vehicle approximately 5 times. i have since learned that this is the infamous "death wobble." since this is a known occurrence, especially in jeeps, my concern is why this is not being addressed and being required to be fixed. *tr *js

While traveling in traffic lane, attempted to shift transfer case (not transmission!) to high range from low range.this is a 4-wheel drive vehicle with a manual x-fer case. (manufacturer ok's shift while in motion) vehicle ended up coasting in neutral, and upon later exam it was found that the flimsy plastic shift cable retaining clip on the cable which connects the shift lever in the cabin to the shift arm on the x-fer case had shattered. this in turn allowed the shift cable to fall off the lever, disabling the vehicle in an active traffic lane. *js

Traveling at 30-35mph i braked and turned quickly to make a left turn across traffic into a parking lot. the engine stalled causing my steering to seize. i had no control of the vehicle except to mash on the brakes which lost power. i was almost hit by cross traffic. i coasted to a stop, hitting a curb and nearly hitting several parked vehicles. *tt

After shifting from 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive, the vehicle remained in 4 wheel drive at all speeds. this resulted in a reduced steering range and, i believe, impaired the vehicle in an avoidance situation. this was especially noticed at slow speed. the jeep dealer found a disconnected 4 wheel drive actuator cable to the transmission. a new replacement bushing was installed at the transmission. the dealer indicated that the replacement part may have been improved because it did not have the same part number as the original. *tr

Potentially a root cause of the rash of fires in jeep wranglers that are sitting parked: failure of the tipm (totally integrated power module). in dec 2011, my daughter drove her new (3000 miles) 2011 jeep wrangler unlimited to church, parked it, turned off the key, took the key out of the ignition, exited the vehicle and locked the door, and went into the church building - never realizing that motor was actually still running!! (they're very quiet when idling and she was talking to a friend.) about 20 to 30 minutes later, a man came running into church that knows of her vehicle and said "your jeep is running, there's smoke or steam coming out from under the hood, the door is locked, and i can't get in to turn it off! my daughter checked and she indeed had the ignition key in her hand. she ran out of church and unlocked the door, put the key in the ignition but it would not kill the engine! we had to engage the clutch in a high gear on the manual transmission to kill it. radiator coolant all over the ground. we found that radiator fluid was just about all boiled out of the engine. the tipm was allowing the engine to continue to run even though the ignition was off and key removed - but the tipm did shut off the electrically operated cooling fan in front of the radiator. there was electrical power going to the motor ignition so that the motor continued to run - but w/o a fan. the coolant boiled out of the engine and had our friend not intervened our motor definitely would have boiled itself dry and continued to run until it either seized up due to excessive heat and/or ignited a fire due to the excessive heat (potentially by igniting the fuel within the fuel system?? electrical wire insulation causing an electrical fire?? battery boiling and fire??). as you're aware, there are several potential secondary sources for fire ignition under the vehicle hood. *tr

While 4x4ing at a high altitude and hot weather there was a smell of gas in the jeep. we were told by others that the same thing has happened and to not roll the window down as it would make it worse. we took it to the dealer and he could not find anything wrong. *js

My jeep has been in for the 3rd time this month for the same thing. leaking transmission fluid on the garage floor. the 1st time dealer found the leak between transmission adaptor housing and transfer case input, replaced trans. rear adaptor seal and transfer case input shaft seal. the 2nd time dealer verified leak and replaced the same as previous. now the 3rd time it is in for the same thing. still waiting to get my vehicle back and it has been 5 days. dealer called and it wont be til at least monday til its ready. *tr

I went to a jeep jamboree on the weekend of september 17th and as i was driving to go wash my jeep my jeep first speed up and i couldn't get it to slow down then i smelled a burning smell and then dashboard started having trouble lights come on so i got it off the highway as i exited the highway i saw smoke coming from under the hood so i stopped immediately and opened the hood after shutting it off and saw it coming from the main fuse block grabbed some tools to disconnect the battery but by then it started to burn so i poured water on the fuse block put it out and called a tow truck took it to tri star jeep in uniontown, pa they got it fixed after almost 2 weeks and on the way home it started again and i caught it earlier but this time i had to pay out of pocket. ever since those 2 episodes it's had lots of electrical problems and it just never stops. *tr

My jeep was experiencing a wobble and loose steering the first time at 2900 miles (5oct2011). after my second visit (15nov2011) to the dealer to address the continued issue, they replaced the steering dampener. the third and fourth visit (22 and 29nov2012), the service tech said he looked at the suspension and tightened up some "things". this worked for a few weeks. on the fifth visit (13mar2012), i was experiencing a more severe wobble/shake. the service tech stated that he reviewed the vehicle and that they could not duplicate the issue. as a result, it was stated all was in vehicle standards. i was advised i could purchase an after market steering dampener that was more robust that the issued dampener. to date, the vehicle still drives in a loose manner on the road. when i hit minor and major bumps on the roads, i get a severe wobble effect. this wobble/shaking reverberates throughout the steering wheel which causes to slow the vehicle down to gain control. the best way to operate it at this time is to drive at a lower speed (40-50 mph). at this point, i am merely seeking advice on how to remedy the situation to make the vehicle more stable to drive. the current mileage on the vehicle is 9500. *js

While driving on a straight road, i shifted in my driver's seat and the seat back collapsed to the rear seat. this caused a momentary loss of control of the vehicle. i attempted to raise the seat back with the recliner mechanism. this allowed me to sit up in a highly reclined position (wherein my arms were stretched to the maximum in order to drive the remainder of my trip). i didn't drive the vehicle the next day. i reported this situation to my dealer the next day (february 10) for correction (although i had previously reported this same condition around april of 2011 and was told that no problem could be found). the dealer service department investigated and found that the recliner mechanism was broken and required replacement. they suggested that i put something behind the seat to keep it from falling back into the rear seat while the part was ordered. i waited a week (february 17) with no response from the dealer, i visited the location and was told that the part had to come from the seat vendor and an express request was placed on the order for immediate shipment. today (february 23) i was contacted by the service representative and informed that the an eta for the replacement part was not available and for me to contact chrysler directly for their intervention. since this is a safety situation where the seat could un-expectedly collapse and the dealer not taking any other action for my safety, it is a strong concern that this could happen to others and have a terrible result. *tr

14mm bolts were installed on the assembly line of the manufacturer (chrysler/dodge/jeep) in the track bar bushings and lower control arms of the jeep wrangler suspensions, which actually calls for a 9/16" bolt. not only were the wrong size bolts used, the wrong type of bolts were used in the installation. the bolts used were threaded to the head, rather than using the appropriate "shoulder" bolt - threaded at the bottom and smooth up to the head. by installing the wrong bolts, the threads have eaten away at the inside of the bushings, causing the round hole to have wear from the cutting action, thus loosening the surface area inside which can lead to "death wobble". death wobble is where the ball joints, track bars, and lower control arms in the suspension flutter while driving, causing the steering wheel and the suspension to shake violently, which is extremely unsafe and can result in a potential accident or even death. i expect chrysler/dodge/jeep to issue a recall and a technical service bulletin to all affected vehicles. i took my jeep to my dealership and upon examination, sure enough, there was significant wear inside the bushings where these bolts were installed by the manufacturer. i wanted to replace them with the correct size and type of bolts to rectify the situation, but the damage has already been done, resulting in all new parts needing to be ordered (track bars, lower control arms, etc.) sources: please refer to numerous youtube consumer videos on "jeep wrangler death wobble" as well as a "sticky" posted in the following jeep enthusiast forum: www.wranglerforum.com there, you will find a sticky called "the importance of changing out stock bolts" with over 12,000 views and over 300 posts. *tr

1.top intermittently leaks on/near the passenger door, and when there is snow the top acts like a sponge and saturates leaking water everywhere inside the jeep. i have driven and been in soft tops most of my life and i have never seen a soft top saturate that badly that it soaks the inside of the jeep. originally the top leaked terrible anytime it rained along the top of the windshield and passenger side, 4 times i called to complain 3 times they told me it was my fault for putting the top on wrong in winter the 4th time they acted surprised and said oh btw there is a service bulletin 2.the engine makes a terrible high pitch whistle/siren noise from the engine intermittently. it last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. i have this on video 2 times and dan's jeep has heard it also along with many coworkers friends and family. 3. the steering wheel makes a terrible noise when cold initially and recently is making the noise in lesser severity even when warmed up. the noise is like dragging a nail across a spring. 4.twice now my jeep has had a serious idle/rpm problem i do not know what to call the problem. saturday the 22nd of october 2011 i started the jeep, it idled fine. i popped the hood open with a friend to see if we could hear the squealing noise when i gave it gas. when i gave it gas the jeep dropped in rpm and acted as if it was going to stall out. experimenting with the amount of gas no matter how far i pressed the gas pedal it continued to sound like it was dying. friday the 28th of october after driving for well over an hour the jeep was making the high pitch squealing/whistle/siren noise. again and at a stop light i went to give it gas as the light went green and the jeep dropped in rpm and began to stall out it seemed. about 10 seconds later the jeep started acting normal and accelerated. *tr

At approximately 3,000 miles i performed the first oil change. i found the drain plug, which is typically tight, to be loose. i was able to remove it with my fingers. at approximately 6,000 miles, i began to hear a clunking noise at low speeds. after trying to diagnose the issue for over a week, i finally discovered the problem. the upper anti-sway bar fasteners on the front suspension were loose. i torqued them back to specs myself. i am concerned about what other nuts or bolts may be loose on this vehicle. jeep issued a recall for "loose suspension fasteners" for 2010 and 2011 models, but my vin is not included. i believe the problem may be more widespread than jeep has spoken it to be. *tr

Received a recall letter l35 emissions. called to get the repairs and was told i would need to ship the jeep to another island as chrysler has no repair service on molokai. the companies should have to make arrangements with a repair service on this island. would cost over $500 to ship to oahu as they suggested. *tr

Defect: failure of the factory installed mopar/chrome bumper in an impact of less than 5 miles per hour. 2011 jeep wrangler was involved in an accident wherein the front right bumper impacted into a fixed object (free standing brick wall). the bumper, which consists of two chrome wrapped tubular devices mounted to a center holding bracket, suffered neglible damage consisting of shallow abrations on the tubular device and without evidence of denting of said device. the tubular component mounts to the holding bracket by way of bolts. the mounting bracket shows no sign of damage however the tubular components now move freely but remain mounted to the bracket indicative of damage to the holding bolts or the internal nut/screw system inside the tubular components. the accident occurred in a confined space of a driveway. the local dealer was contacted and examined the bumper. the local dealer did not believe the bumper was designed to be "break away " in a low speed/less than 5 mile per hr accident. the dealer was asked to contact the manufacture of the bumper to discuss this defective part or design flaw. *tr

On above date, while driving my 2011 jeep, on rt 206 in upstate ny, my vehicles brakes locked up at 55mph the vehicle was taken to a jeep dealership in sidney ny where nothing wrong was found with the jeep. *tr on 9-1-11 i took the vehicle to grand prix jeep in hicksville,ny and a defect was discovered in both the master cylinder and the brake power booster. my vehicle was in the dealership for approx 7 days. this vehicle was bought by me on 8-23-11.

I have a 2011 rubicon andt 2nd and 4th pops out all the time. 1st and 3rd lock in great. if i push the clutch in i don't even have to touch the shifter and it will automatically roll out of 2nd and 4th. when the temp is below 15 or 0 outside. *tr

My jeep has a six speed manual transmission and it pops out of 2nd and 4th gear into neutral since purchased nov. 06, 2010. i called jeep and they said that it must pop out when they drive it. i am setting up an appointment. but this is a safety issue because i will be eventually rear ended. why isn't this on a recall?

I own a 2011 jeep wrangler with a manual transmission. in cold weather and with the vehicle cold, fourth gear continually pops out of gear and now 2nd is starting to do it. i brought it to the dealership, but they could not duplicate the problem. also, they checked the tsb, but none are listed. i have read jeep forums and learned that some believe the problem with the 2011s is the boot, either inner or outer or both. when it is cold outside, the boots don¿t flex well--so it pushes the vehicle out of gear. i have been in the middle of a turn and it happens--huge safety issue. *tr

Clock spring has went bad. which makes the airbag and horn useless. only 3 years old. *tr

This has happened on a few occasions i was and am terrified that the vehicle shakes uncontrollably to the point it feels like jeep will fall apart and you are going to get into a serious accident. *tr
