Fuel overflowing when filling at gas station, spurts out when nozzle automatically shuts off. No idea what is causing this problem but just started a couple of weeks ago.

After the Chrysler/Jeep airbag recall, the vehicle horn stopped working and the dealer diagnosis is that the TIPM module is defective.

Headlight intermittently failed. When headlight failed to turn on, interior light on permanently even trying to turn it off.

Wobbles uncontrollably at speeds over 50 or when going around turns. No one can find problem. Contacted jeep with no help. Have ran off road multiple times

When I\'m fueling my Jeep at the gas station, the fuel system does not respond to the shut-off mechanism. As a result, gas spills out and runs down my car and on the ground. I also had the gas frequently spilling on my hands because of this issue.

The problem started to occur intermittently back in November 2014. Since December 2015, it is happening every time I\'m fueling my Jeep. This is extremely annoying. It also causes concerns from environmental standpoint. I also fear negative impact on my health due to this issue. Background is that the problem results in unavoidable gas spilling on my hands.

When I raised this issue with my Jeep dealer, they indicated that they allegedly never heard of this issue, that they \"couldn\'t find any problems\" and that there is \"nothing wrong\" with the fuel system of my Wrangler. I feel that I\'m not taken seriously by my Jeep dealer.

I learned today that the fuel system issue is a known problem that many other Wrangler owners are struggling with, so I decided to report it through this website.

My Jeep has the death wobble

When fueling, gas sprays out of the fill hole. This causes a dangerous condition for the environment and for the people it sprays on. FCA says I need a new fuel tank.($1100.00) They could not find the problem when the warranty was in effect but now that the warranty has expired they know exactly what to do.

TIPM failure resulting in headlights flickering, failing…wipers won\'t shut off.

The vehicle developed an issue that would spit gas out of the filler pipe after the filler pump click off. I wrapped the filler pump with paper towels to keep it from spitting gas out and that worked for a while. A month ago the problem inverted and would not allow me to fill up the tank except for a small amount of fuel. The filler pipe would keep filling up and clicking the filler pump off. I then replaced the tank and that solved the problem. The issue has been well documented from 2007-2012 but the manufacturer only issue a recall or extended warranty on 2007-2008 models.

Just purchased this Jeep a few weeks ago and, even though we knew the TIPM was a known issue, we thought perhaps it would not surface for a few months or years. Well 2 weeks ago, the check engine light started beeping. A few days later, it would not start. Then today the dashboard lights started flashing & beeping and a few minutes after that, the engine stalled. Although I was able to restart it, 10 minutes later it stalled again & I could not restart it & nothing was coming on – no hazards / lights / engine lights. Another 10 minutes and I noticed the lights were back on so I tried to start it again . Engine tried to turn over but unfortunately it didn\'t start. Waited another few minutes & it finally started. Was able to drive it home & am not going to make the appointment to get the TIPM replaced.
Jeep needs to own this problem and make it a recall. Its terrifying knowing that I could have been on the highway when the car died.

MY HEADLIGHTS DO NOT STAY ON OR JUST TURN OFF OR DO NOT TURN ON AT ALL. THE DEALER SAID IT IS THE TIPM AND $1200.00 TO FIX. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. The TIPM failed resulting in the headlights not working.

My wipers will not go off and I am in lockout (the car will not come out of park) and lights will not shut off, plus there is no electrical dash components working (turn signals, speedometer, mileage, etc.). I called Chrysler and they deny that there is an issue. Did not bring it in to be fixed yet.

While driving down the road the headlamps will turn off and will not come back on. At times the power windows will not work. Also when starting the vehicle the radio and navigation will not turn on for several minutes.

Automatic fuel shutoff doesn’t occur until AFTER a significant amount of fuel overflows. This is a safety and environmental hazard.

On February 22nd, while driving on winter highway roads, I noticed my front windshield washer pump failed to operate. In the same time frame I noticed my power locks would not engage at vehicle speed and, I could no longer lock the doors of the vehicle using either of the key fobs and the power door lock switches of the driver side or passenger side doors.

My airbag light came on for no reason and would not go off. I feel that is a safety issue and the dealership said it wasn’t covered. I have low mileage on my jeep and don’t feel that I should be having this problem. I even had the extended warranty.
I feel it should have been covered. Since then I just had problems with the Death Wobble which is very very scary and could have caused an accident. That too was not said not covered. I called Jeep and they covered portion and I had to pay $100 ded for steering box and the bar I ended up paying $140. I had to pay the bill and Jeep is going to reimburse me the difference. It took more than a week and my warranty only covered 5 days so Jeep also pd for that which I feel is only right because it was not my fault it was not done in time. I have had the transmission already rebuilt before these issues. This is very disappointing because I love my jeep, but I am not looking forward to what is going to happen next.

Known defect of fuel spillage when trying to pump gas. At the end of the fueling process gas spews back out onto the side of the car, the ground and the person pumping the gas. The first time this happened to my husband, another customer was smoking on the opposite side of the pump. We’ve sought redress from Chrysler, following all of their instructions to diagnose the problem only to be told our year Jeep is not within the years of a recall previously issue for the exact same issue. Repair will cost us $1100 + the $112 diagnosis charge which Chrysler required in order to continue to listen to our issue. What action might we take? Is there a class action lawsuit building for this?

The shutoff for filling up the fuel tank no longer works. If you fill up the car, when the shutoff clicks at the full point fuel comes gushing out. When you remove the fuel nozzle, more fuel gushes out. I use the term gush because it is not a small amount of fuel but quite a bit.

The gas does not stop pumping once the tank is full. The tank will overflow and spew gas everywhere.

Death Wobble was attempted to be repaired 3 times by dealer. It is still present today. We purchased the Jeep July 2013.

Problem started about 5 months ago. At first I thought it was a station problem as my regular station underwent a huge makeover including new pump equipment. After trying many different stations in IL and IN and doing research on the net, I find it is a widespread problem. Nothing helps the huge gush of gas that pours out of my Jeep EVERYTIME I FILL UP!! . I’ve tried filling slow, filling manually (not automatic setting on pump nozzle), NOTHING WORKS! I even had my husband fill it just to prove I wasnt a helpless female or dumb blonde. I dont know why it started happening. I bought the vehicle new so I know the complete vehicle history and service.
After filling up yesterday and getting soaked with gasoline again, I had enough! Time to complain and see what happens. This is REALLY a serious issue and needs to be addressed. Somebody is going to get seriously injured if this is not corrected. Many times I see people around gas pumps smoking and now i not only have to watch what I’m doing, I need to make sure nobody around me is doing anything careless that could cause me harm! Email was sent off to Chrysler – waiting for response as well as info from my dealer.

My headlamps shut off while driving on the highway while driving at 65 mph. Afterwards, the vehicle would not start one morning. Since then, electrical issues such as power windows not working have occurred.

Wrangler Unlimited Sport: While driving down the road at approx 45mph, the jeep began to shake/jump uncontrollably for no apparent reason. We took it into the Jeep dealer from whom we bought the vehicle. He tightened the track bar (??) and replaced the steering stabilizer. We explained to him that we were beginning a cross country trip, so he should check everything. A week or so later, we began the trip from Florida to California. Two days into the trip (east Texas), while traveling at highway speeds, we experienced the shake again. We had to top the vehicle and took it to the nearest Jeep dealership, driving on side streets at minimal speeds. The dealership replaced the upper and lower ball joints. There were already two Jeeps in the shop with the same problem and while we were there, another person came in with the same issue. We then continued our trip. Two days later, in California, we again experienced the shake while traveling at highway speeds. Again, we took the car to a Jeep dealer who said we needed to replace the steering stabilizer. We told him it had already been done. He noted that the stabilizer that comes as standard equipment with the Jeep is not robust enough and that most Jeeps will experience this problem if not upgraded. We also reported this sequence of events to Jeep. We have since researched this issue on the internet and have found the problem is know as “death wobble” and seems to be quite prevalent

Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon: If the vehicle drives over several rough patches, frost heaves, or cracks in a road the entire jeep starts to wobble a jump. I have to pull over and come to a complete stop. This is very scary while doing 55 in the left or middle lane. I have come very close to be the cause of several accidents. I have a front end alignment done and rotated the tires. My crash was actual a bump into my husbands truck. Only plastic damage to fender and the metal around the fender. This happened in 2012 not recently.

My 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Rubicon Edition, with Auto tranny unexpectedly loss all power and caught on fire. Jeep has issued a recall to replace a skid plate that “may collect debris and cause a fire”, but mine had no debris on the skid plate. I have created a Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/JeepWranglersThatCaughtOnFire where others with similar issues could report it. Many of the Jeep Wranglers that are catching on fire are NOT 2010 models, and have NOT been in an Off-Road situation. I believe that the recall is Chrysler/Jeep’s attempt at appeasing the NHTSA by addressing a very small number of vehicles. Dealer is unable to provide me with a courtesy vehicle during the recall work and the recall takes several days to complete. forcing me to pay for a rental vehicle during the recall repair is a cost to me to get the recall corrected.

Vehicle is consuming excessive oil. i check the dip stick every time i get gas to be sure it doesn't go dry. it started being very low at just 3,000 since last oil change and progressively got worse. the dipstick will now be below the safe line at 1,600 miles since last oil change. i have had the pcv value replaced and it didn't not fix the problem. i have been to several specialty jeep machines who have said i will need a new engine. *tr

Vehicle's sensor does not tell gas pump when to stop filling with gas and sprays out onto the concrete and vehicle. causing a major fire hazard and pollutant.

Rpm fluctuating rapidly, loss of power, then it starts a death wobble that is almost uncontrollable that is side to side. will be driving down the highway and it happens everytime.

The driver's side heat blows colder than the passengers side heat. problem lays with either faulty heater core, air diversion switch, or improper channeling. this problem occurs when sitting idle, and while driving. prevents proper defrosting measures when driving in cold, wet weather.

Takata airbag recall letter and also the clockspring recall on my jeep needs to be fixed and the defective airbag is on the passenger side so i can not even have passengers in it please fix the clockspring and advise on the airbag

The fuel evaporation port on my gas tank which has a hose that connects to the evap canister broke for no reason. i could frequently smell gasoline outside the rear of the vehicle & being near the muffler was afraid of a fire. also since these fumes are vented back into the engine i had rough idle, lower economy, & was polluting the atmosphere. also, the only solution offered by dealer was to replace the entire gas tank for $900.

My headlights do work right. sometmes they come on and sometimes they just turn off and sometimes they don't turn on at all. the jeeo dealer said it was the tipm and apprx. $1,200.00 to fix. i think jeep should recall !!!

Totally integrated power module failed resulting in loss of horn, wipers, interior dome lamp, dash lights, and automatic transmission shift lever is locked in park.

Lights went out while driving at high speed at night making it very hard to handle car and pull off the road. als olet me stranded in the dessert (pump would not pump gas)

Vehicle was stationary. after flash update on tipm. tipm failure occurred causing starter to "fry". this is a problem that has had many complaints. this can cause problems on vehicles while in motion. can't believe the nhtsa failed to investigate after all the complaints received.

''takata recall'' defective tpm, almost coused me to have an accident while driving in mexico during my vacation the lights went out whle doing 75 miles per hour....took it to mechanic and it has a bad tipm module.

Takata recall. s33 airbag recall. my airbag light has been on for two weeks. i had an oil change at a subaru dealership and they checked diagnostics got code b1b02. brought my jeep into a chrysler dealership, as the recall notice suggested, and they charged me $85 for the diagnostic check. now i have to drive with no airbag and i'm $85 out of pocket!!!!!!! furious.

The tipm failed which resulted in the headlights not working. there was not a specific event that caused the failure.

After airbag recall service, the horn stopped working and the dealer diagnosis is the tipm module.

Takata recall when at a stop and in first gear, when i proceed to go forward the gear will pop out of 1st into neutral. this happens several times a week. sporadic.

After researching the internet i cam across the acronym of the issue. what happened is exactly described in this article as the "death wobble." http://abc7news.com/archive/8547340/ this has happened multiple times while i'm driving at an average speed or high speed. if i hit a dip or turn at a average to high speed my jeep shakes uncontrollably. today i was driving to work on the 60 eastbound in the high speed lane going the speed limit (cruise control). my jeep hit a dip and shook so uncontrollably i almost had to do a complete stop on the freeway. i tried the best i could to merge to the slow speed lane to possibly exit the freeway. a few vehicles were behind me when this happened and it almost caused a severe accident. it literally feels like the axel is going to snap in half or the vehicle may even flip if the shaking were to continue. when the vehicle is shaking like this the only way i've experienced for it to stop is quickly slowing down almost to a complete stop. if i slow down slowly it still shakes uncontrollably so much so that it puts me in the other lane. this issue needs to be fixed and can most definitely kill someone. this happened today at least 3 times. i then finally put my vehicle in four wheel drive at 2h while driving fearing if it happens again, my axel may break; or worse my life taken. before this incident i'd say it's happened every now and then. approx. once every 3-6 months since i got the vehicle. i also have my tires rotated every time i get my oil changed at 3,000 miles. this should not be happening

I have a 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara. my wrangler as a defect on the transmission causing it to violently pop out of first gear while trying to accelerate (every single time). looking into the issue, i have found that it is very common with the 2010 manual transmissions, yet there has been no recall issued regarding the transmission- even though it can be dangerous. because of this defect, i have to start my jeep in second gear causing extra wear and tear on my clutch. according to my local dealership, in order to fix the issue, i will have to either completely rebuild my transmission or get a new one (in the tsb that chrysler put out regarding the issue, only the 1-2 synchronizer assembly needs to be replaced to repair the issue.) it is absurd that chrysler has acknowledged this issue, yet a recall has still not been issued. see tsb regarding the issue here: see the tsb here: https://chrysler.oemdtc.com/128/manual-transmission-pops-out-of-gear-2007-2010-jeep

Defective totally integrated power module (tipm). i discovered my car has problem with the headlight (which intermittently on and off) when i was about to drive from home at night. the dealership charged me $1757.57 for repairing by replacing the tipm which has a history of defective on millions of cars made by chrysler. it's don't make sense!

I was returning home from the grocery store and was driving on a paved city street with no potholes, speed-bumps, or other obstructions. as i made a left turn into our driveway i heard a noise and then suddenly the jeep turned hard right and i hit another care parked on the right side of our driveway. i had no control of the steering. upon inspection, i noticed that the stud coming from the steering gear box had sheared in half between the steering gear box and the pitman arm. there was nothing that i did that would have caused this to happen. also, this jeep has never been off road. i contacted chrysler and they said i need to contact my insurance company. they offered no assistance.

On 5/12/17 my wife left for work about 7:20 am, about 20 min. later she came back in our home and said the jeep went crazy, she explained about half way down our drive way which is about a 1/4 of a mile, the wipers speeded up all the lights in the gauge cluster lit up,a constant noise like a smoke alarm started and lasted for a few seconds, then the wipers were going real slow and jumping, the engine shut off and smoke came out from under the hood on the left side. she switched off the jeep and all the cluster lights stayed on. i went to the jeep the cluster lights were still on, i open the hood and smoke was coming from the fuse box. i disconnected the battery and removed the fuse box cover, there were melted fuses in the box and i could see some melted wires under the fuse box. i called a local body shop to come and pick up our jeep. i called my insurance and filled a claim. since there was no fire we had no claim. i rented a tow dolly and took it to stateline dodge in fort mill, s.c. i decided to call jeep for help. they sent someone from engineering analysis to determine what happen. i don't remember his name but he told me it was a massive tipm failure. jeep sent me a letter saying it was not a manufacturer defect and would not help us our jeep has only about 67000 miles on it. updated 09/20/17*lj *cn

While driving approx. 10 mph my jeep started smoking in the cab. i immediately stopped the car, jumped out and already there were flames coming from the engine. my entire...i mean entire jeep burned within a few minutes. nothing but a shell left. what happened? it was so scary!

S33 recall was established in may 2016, but all the dealers i contact state that the recall parts are not available. my jeep was inspected by a jeep dealer, but no parts available. meanwhile, my daughter still drives this jeep which could potentially be unsafe. i want my jeep fixed under recall s33, but without the manufacturer providing parts to complete the recall, i am left driving a potentially unsafe vehicle due to the air bag clockspring defect.

Takata recall dealers in dfw area stated they do not have the replacement parts nor do they know when or if they will receive them. this is totally unacceptable!

The passenger side from air bag was issued a recall on july of 2016. they also said to avoid using that seat. the fix is still not available and i think that is an unreasonable amount of time to limit my use of the vehicle. there are only 4 seats total. i think you need to "get on" jeep about this unreasonable safety recall delay.

Tipm issues. the headlights will randomly flash 3-5 times equal in length and then shut off completely will not reset even if jeep is turned off an turned back on. while driving down the road the lights can randomly being to flash an then shut off.

"takata recall" s43/nhtsa 16v-352 received this notice of recall in july 2016. called dealer who indicated parts were being manufactured and would take about 2 months to receive. september 2016, called dealer and the timeline for parts is maybe next year. called fiat chrysler automobiles (fca) in july and again in september. they have no timeline for the parts to arrive. they have no options to give us except for driving the jeep at our own risk or park it. the fca recording and the person with whom we spoke are passing the buck...there is nothing we can do. it appears to be more of a disclaimer. we were told that there have not been too many incidents with these takata air bags and no deaths. this is contrary to the national news and reason for the recall.

Takata recall - i have owned the jeep new since march 2010. november 2010 i was in a car accident that did approximately $16,000 work on damages. the accident was on the left front corner and did enough damage to snap the front axel and bend the frame. the airbags did not deploy during the accident. i am still currently driving the jeep and have concerns since receiving the recall notice july of this year. attached is a photo of the broken axel and one of the supplements for the insurance company, but not the final one. i can provide more information if needed. thanks you.

Wasn't due for an oil change for 3000 miles i use synthetic rod blew while on freeway with my daughter in the car . no brakes no warning no steering we could have died! chrysler turning their head! mechanic says it's a defect in engine and never seen an engine blow at 64,000 miles and still have all proper levels of fluids! i was going 65 miles an hour on a freeway thank god it was a straight stretch and i was in the right lane, had there been a turn or had we have been on a bridge we would have died or seriously injured someone else!

When i'm fueling my jeep at the gas station, the fuel system does not respond to the shut-off mechanism. as a result, gas spills out and runs down my car and on the ground. i also had the gas frequently spilling on my hands because of this issue. the problem started to occur intermittently back in november 2014. since december 2015, it is happening every time i'm fueling my jeep. this is extremely annoying. it also causes concerns from environmental standpoint. i also fear negative impact on my health due to this issue. background is that the problem results in unavoidable gas spilling on my hands. when i raised this issue with my jeep dealer, they indicated that they allegedly never heard of this issue, that they "couldn't find any problems" and that there is "nothing wrong" with the fuel system of my wrangler. i feel that i'm not taken seriously by my jeep dealer. i learned today that the fuel system issue is a known problem that many other wrangler owners are struggling with, so i decided to report it to the nhtsa.

First, i was driving on the highway and hit the brakes, when the vehicle locked all the brakes completely, the vehicle started skidding almost causing an accident because i lost control of the vehicle. a few weeks later, i was driving up the hill when all the dash lights lighted up, i stopped the vehicle and turned it off but they did not went off . i went to the dealer and they told to replace the abs module (68067458aa) costing $215.00 plus $160 on labor. they also told me that a few customers are complaining about the same issue. the vehicle is also turning off the headlights at night. right know the problem is intermittent. the check engine code is b162f, right low beam control. according to the dealer, the tipm needs to be replaced, it cost around $400. when i looked in the internet, there are several cases of that issue since 2010.it creates a possible hazard driving at night.

Jeep will not hold first gear in. every time it is put into first gear, the shifter is kicked out. the clutch was pushed in completely when put into gear and the problem still occurs. the issue usually happens at about 5 mph and below and sometimes when completely stopped. this issue has nearly caused multiple accidents due to the inability to be able accelerate as needed. one of the "solutions" is to use second gear to take off and completely bypass the first gear which will speed up the wear on the clutch causing premature replacement.

The air bag light keeps going on and off as i'm driving, conditions (street or highway) are more pronounced while cornering... the clock spring was replaced 2 years ago, its doing the same thing again

Driving on the highway approx 70 mph (speed limit) when the battery light sensor notification came on. moved over to the slow lane to get off the next exit. within ~ 5 miles of driving, the car completely shut down. total engine loss and loss of all electrical including power steering making it extremely difficult to safely exit the lane onto the shoulder.

My reverse went out on my 42rle automatic transmission in my wrangler and i looked it up and supposedly this issue is extremely common. like story after story after story after story after story. this transmission had a recall in its early days where it wouldn’t go into park and people were crashing they fixed that but ever since this transmission came out according to google. people have had this problem and it shouldn’t just go out like that. the vehicle was stopped and i was backing out of a parking space. well i was trying until i realized that i wasn’t going anywhere so i had to drive over the little hump things. but my reverse lights and everything come on but my engine just revs. and everyone i’ve asked from people in new orleans jeep club to looking it up on google either has this problem or had this problem or knows someone who either has or had this problem.

Just bought 2010 jeep on 1/2/17 with only 38k miles for our 17 year old son. every time we put gas in the jeep the gas splatters out everywhere, enough to saturate side of jeep and ground as well as clothes, skin. the gas will still come out after automatic shut off occurs. it seems the gas is coming back out of the tank and not the nozzle since we have gone to different gas stations. even let the gas nozzle sit a moment before removing from tank. vehicle engine was shut off and not running. nozzle was properly inserted. my husband and myself have tried to do it without the gas spilling (slow, not topping off, waiting to remove nozzle) but it still does it. not a safe vehicle for our son to take to college.

Headlights spontaneously turn off or flicker. after driving for a few minutes. need to turn car off to make them work again. wipers sometimes won't turn off. sometimes headlights will not go on after a few seconds. *tr

Gas gushing out when filling vehicle at gas pump, the auto shut off does not shut off manually or auto shut off. vehicle is stationary, i believe this is a manufacturers problem in the gas tank preventing the gas overflow. this is a hazard. this vehicle only has 47k miles. this has happened the last 4 times pumping gas.

The vehicle would spit gas out of the filler pipe after the pump would click off. the problem then developed into not letting me put gas in at all without the pump clicking off many times for a small amount of fuel. replacing the tank fixed the problem. this problem has been well documented from 2007-2012 but jeep only recalled or extended the warranty on models 2007-2008.

Fuel spillage during fill up, happens every time. fuel gushes out forcefully upon tank reaching its capacity.

Tipm is faulty. power locks non functional. washer pump non functional. passenger headlight stays on high beam constantly even when vehicle is not in use. unplugging battery is mandatory to keep lights off and battery from draining. factory installed remote start does not work. problem occurred while vehicle was in motion at high speeds down the highway. inabilty to wash the windshield is a huge safety factor. as well as the constant high beam to other motorists.

When i reach about 45 mpr the whole vehicle shakes violently. took it several times to have it corrected, but the issue always came back. they told me it just needed a bolt tightening. i found out that a lot of this model have what they call "death wobble". my daughter is afraid to drive it and it's been parked in my garage ever since last time. the part in question is in the suspension and is called the stabilizer or steering damper.

I have what is known as a common problem. jeep death wobble. i can’t understand why this isn’t under recall. the car starts vibrating while in motion starting at 50 mph. if in traffic i have to come to a complete stop for it to stop wobbling. it happens daily and is dangerous. started about 2 years ago. last happened yesterday. getting worse.

When i fill up tank of gas it overflows, does not shut off pump. gas overflows onto fender, bumper, tire and ground. this is a safety issue. not to mention a waste of gas and smelly hands all day after cleaning gas off of fender and bumper. have previously filed a complaint but to date no tsb or recall to address this safety issue.

My dealership refuses to honor a recall for the fuel spillback problem and wants me to pay in excess of $300 for the part and repair. this is the problem with fueling and the pump shutoff does not engage, thus overflowing and spilling gasoline out of the fuel door. this of course happens when the car is stationary. i wasn't allowed to order the mopar part number cnnnx321ac to repair the problem myself because the vendor said it can only be purchased by the dealer because it is a "recalled" part. i need to know how i can file a claim to be reimbursed if i have to pay the dealership or how i can order the part through a vendor who would allow me to purchase the part. please respond with a solution. thank you.

While fueling jeep, as it gets full it will splash gasoline from the fill area onto the jeep and myself. this is an ongoing problem as it happens on a regular basis and then have to clean my jeep and myself up because the gas comes out at a good force. i then smell like gasoline for the rest of the day.

Vehicle will experience uncontrollable vibration i.e. death wobble when going over a minor bump in the road. the death wobble can last from 20 yards to 100 yards depending on the speed and terrain. this began to happen about 1 year ago and has been more frequent recently occurring about once per week. the date below is the most recent occurrence.

Seem to have a fuel leak somewhere. smell of gasoline from the rear of the vehicle. especially strong when the heater is on. strong smell even when just walking around the vehicle outside, but no obvious leak visible.

Takata recall. on sunday august 18th 2019 at 4:30 pm a phone call was placed to brooklyn chrysler/jeep at 718 713 3000 to confirm an appointment for an airbag recall made through the national hotline. upon contacting the service department, i was told that the national recall center did not appropriately schedule the airbag repair, and made my appointment for an "oil change." i was also told that scheduling errors are frequent from your office and that they do not currently have replacement air bag parts in stock. i was told that chrysler only sends out "two or three" airbag recall parts at a time and that they are given out on a first come, first served basis. she stated there is no current procedure for assigning service to a particular customer at a particular time, and that i should try back every few weeks. this haphazard handling, if true, begs the question of why your office would spend as much time as it does sending out mailings for any fix, yet so little effort to streamline the administrative end to be more effective. i will continue to try to made this "potentially deadly" repair, but someone can coordinate better with the dealership.

My 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited has been idling funny for a while. today my windshield wipers started running without turning them on, the headlight came on high beam without turning them on and my turn signals stopped working. i was just trying to get hime from work. sometimes the starter sticks & grinds when i try to start it..sometimes the cruise control makes the jeep shake violently like driving on 4 flat tires down the interstate. my husband unhooked the battery today to stop the wipers and it was sparking and the whole fuse control panel was too hot to touch. he done some research and found out it is the tipm and it's been a problem in almost all jeep wranglers, and has been recalled in most that had all my jeeps electrical issues, but has not been recalled in the 2010, even after many customer complaints, glad it didn't catch my jeep on fire. now i'm worried about parking in my garage as it is part of my house. so now my jeep that only has 74000 miles and cost me 35000 dollars is a fire hazard and can't be parked in its cozy 350000 garage because i don't want to lose my home, jeep and possibly my life. chrysler really needs to step up and do the right thing after making so much money off of us die hard life long jeep enthusiasts.*dt*dt *tr

Headlights will not turn off while driving down the road. fog lights work, but headlights and high beams shut off completely. then randomly will turn on. this can last for days or even months. then it happens again.

When filling with gas, the fuel spills out all over the floor instead of cutting off automatically

Gas tank takes forever to fill, clicks every .25 gal or less and have to start refueling all over again till full, also almost always will overfill. spoke to many jeep owners and this is common issue with jeeps. look at message boards jeep seems aware of issues but they don’t fix issue. always fuel flat surface at gas stations and this happens at every gas station pump i’ve tried.

The center console gets hot (like worry about a fire hot) , the radio will not work sometimes, sometimes the radio will be on but you can not shut it off or turn the station or anything with it, now the wipers will not shut off, it will not come out of park, random lights come on on the dash and go off, the windows and blinkers do not work. thank god mine happened while in the parking lot at work and not driving down the highway at 70 mph heading home as i take 95 home from work. .so many people are complaining on line. look it up

The front brake lines have an insulator that covers the hard pipe to rubber connection. this insulator allows moisture to collect between it and the metal fitting that connects the two different line materials. the connection rots through and then begins to leak. the rear lines do not have this insulator on that connection and they are in perfect condition. the insulator appears to be the cause of the premature failure. i noted the loss of brake fluid while doing other maintenance on the jeep.

When fueling vehicle, fuel will spill out where nozzle is and flow down side of vehicle and from a puddle of gas on the ground, it’s is unknown how close fuel gets to muffler exhaust system but could potentially start a fire at the gas pumps.

When filling my jeep with fuel, the fuel pump does not shut off quickly enough and gasoline splatters out of the tank and onto my hands, cloths, jeep and ground. this happens every time regardless where i fill up. i use qt, bp and shell stations. some are new and some or old. this can not be a pump issue but a jeep issue.

6-speed manual transmission. pops out of first gear every time. first gear unusable, resulting in having to use 2nd gear to start. this is unacceptable. this jeep has never been off-road.

Lights on dash went haywire and the vehicle just died while going 35 mph would not restart or come out of gear when it was stopped. i was stuck on a city street with no lights of any kind. very thankful my daughter was not with me!!

Driving down the highway, my heater stopped blowing hot air on the driver side vent and then 20 minutes later my heater core exploded coolant all through my passenger footwell, and steamed the entire interior of my jeep. leaving the windshield fogged over and me dangerously pulling off to the side of the highway. is my understanding that this is a very common reoccurring manufactures defect.

Exhaust manifolds cracks letting fumes into vehicle

When driving down the road the vehicle would violently start shaking if it hit a pot hole or the road would curve. when the vehicle started to violently shake, steering the vehicle was impossible and it also killed the engine once. this happened driving on the highway and also on residential roads. turned on the vehicle the wipers are going nonstop without being turned on, the turn signals and all of the gauges are not working. the headlights stay on when the jeep is on. this happens with starting the vehicle and also driving.

The emergency brake on my 2010 wrangler does not hold the vehicle on any sort of incline. the virginia code for a parking/ emergency brake states that it must stall the vehicle in 2nd gear (it does) but the brake will not maintain the position of the vehicle on the slightest incline. i'm concerned that the vehicle may roll away into the road and cause harm to others. furthermore, if i were to be in the vehicle then i may become trapped with it rolling in to traffic. this is a common issue on the early 2007-2017 body style wrangler and needs attention before it causes serious harm.

Every time i fill my gas tank, i spill a lot of gas out the fill neck. it occurs no matter how slow or fast i fill. it spit gas out almost like it’s burping. i have researched this problem and it is a very common problem.

Every time i fill the gas tank, gas splashes back onto the pavement (or my clothing if i am standing near the fill pipe). this is a well known, and dangerous, problem that jeep owners are aware of (per the on-line forums). i understand that there was a recall or service bulletin related to earlier models of jeep wranglers. two dealers i went to deny any knowledge of this problem with 2010 wranglers. on-line forums indicate that this is a continuing problem on newer wranglers and that dealers are charging $200 - $600 to fix the problem when a simple solution for many owners has been to personally install part cnnnx321ac ($40.00) which is a replacement fuel fill tube that has some sort of mechanism in it to prevent splash back. i installed this part and it solved the problem. the dealers i went to said they were not aware of this fix. i think that chrysler should be paying for this fix. instead they are denying that there continues to be a problem on the newer vehicles. i can't emphasize enough how dangerous this problem is.

Wipers will not turn off, blinkers will not work, dash board lights flash, vehicle stalls while driving due to fuel relay not working.

Heater core failed three times first time core failed windshield was covered in hot antifreeze . second heater core lasted one year leaking out onto rug and filling heater box win antifreeze . third time core failed it sprayed scalding hot antifreeze on my 10 ten year old daughters leg. third heater core was only seven months old.all of the heater core were own supplied from jeep ,they are made off a very cheap aluminum and either crack or leak inthe same spot. this very expensive repair as the front seat ,dashboard. air conditioning and electrical harness has to be removed . jeep dealers charge between 1800.00 to 2300.00 to do this repair. at present time i will be paying 3 times in less than 2 years to have this repair done . at all times this failure occurred the vehicle was running and being driven .two ofthe failures occurred at highway speed creating a very dangerous situation were vehicle had to driven with antifreeze spraying on windshield. and passager side floor until i could get vehicle off to side of road . if my daughter did not have on long pant and high boots she would have been severely burned

Totally integrated power module (tipm) failed while driving causing the jeep to die at highway speed making it very difficult to control on the north texas expressway with no exits. jeep came to a stop on a blind curve and would not come out of park to be moved. shifted transfer case to nut neutral and with another drives assistance pushed off the expressway.

I bought this jeep brand new and almost from the start when filling up at the gas station. when the tank is full the nozzle shuts off then a lot of gas comes out the fill pipe i have tried different gas stations all the same problems. i have tried going slow took almost 20 minutes to fill the gas tank and still gas come splashing out of the fill pipe. i think their is something defective in the fill pipe that doesn't trigger the shut off in the nozzle fast enough.

I was driving down my residential street and my jeep’s windshield wipers started going off, my horn starting honking and my seat belt light came on. i continued to drive and 3 seconds later it did the same thing but this time it died and smoke started coming through my vents inside. i immediately put it in park and got out to get my son out of the back seat but my door shut behind me and all of the rest were locked. i immediately called 911 because i was watching the car fill with smoke with my 10 month old trapped inside. i was not able to unlock any of the doors until i got to the back hatch, where my key opened it up. i got my son out and about 60 seconds later, it started smoking worse and it turned to black smoke. about 30 seconds after that my car caught on fire. it all seemed to start under the hood on the passenger side of the car.

The head lights have stopped working. they flash when i start the jeep and when i turn on the light switch. the problem started when i changed the battery. i can’t drive it at night anymore. the web is full of this same complainant. i had the system scanned and get codes b162f & b162b. how can this problem exist? i’m talking about head lights. the running lights are not affected.

All the break lights came on at one time (esp, bas, abs) and the traction control will not go off. i was slowing down at a stop sign in a school parking lot. no rain or other weather events occured, on dry pavement

Gasoline splashes back when tank gets refueled while vehicle is stationary at the pump. i've experienced this issue since at least march of 2018. my mechanic suggests that this problem should be recognized as a defect necessitating a recall. google search informs that this seems to be a common and ongoing problem for other wrangler owners as well. you'll find video's posted by others on youtube.

Gas tank overflows after auto-shutoff when filling.

Sporatic uncontrollable shaking while driving. only stops when you slow down to around 20mph. i googled it and it's known as the "death wobble" and is very prevalent problem with jeeps. dealership says it needs new steering stabilizer. it is very dangerous.

Engine started making a rattling noise at 54,200 miles. no engine lights or oil pressure indicators. brought in to have checked & found to have no engine oil, low engine coolant. there was enough damage done to the engine that i'm having to have an entire new engine installed as it was more cost effective than replacing the individual parts. the dealership received a new engine & installed. this one was deffective & had to wait for another one to be received & installed. thanks,

Purchased car in sept 2010, have had intermittent heat and defrost problems since the get go. no heat, heat on one side, luke warm heat, no defroster. been to the dealer and other mechanics and the problem still persists. this seems to be a known problem to chrysler corp as there was a class action lawsuit regarding casting sand clogging the hvac system. chrysler refuses to recall theses vehicles and address the problem. the problem persists at start and when the engine is fully warmed up, no discernible change in cabin temp.

Took the vehicle in for a yearly inspection and garage told me there was a problem with the brake lines rubbing on the tires when the wheels were turned all the way. mechanic showed me the wear and asked if i put any after market parts on the vihicle. i confirmed everything was stock. told me there should be a recall being this was a manufacturing problem where the brake lines were routed too close to the tires and almost wore through the brake lines. took it to the dealership to have lines rerouted and no recalls were issued for this problem. did some research and found other similar complaints on several jeep forums. dealership said they had never heard of such problems.

When filling the gas tank it regularly overflows if i don’t manually stop the pump prior to the automatic shut off occurring when it detects a full tank. this happened at multiple gas stations of multiple brands so it’s not isolated to one station or pump type. this is dangerous because fuel spills all over my car as well as the ground at the pump.

The casting sand from the motor has clogged up the heater coil. the jeep dealer in augusta, ga said i need to spend over $3000 to have the radiator, heater coil and other items to remedy the situation. the passenger side blows hot but the drivers side blows ice cold.

Breaks: when the jeep is off the pedal will pump up with pressure but when im driving the pedal goes to the floor if i just press it one time.

Using fuel pump auto shut off results in tank overfilling

Takata recall - plus other items.jeep refused to fix my jeep without standing recall notices. i made an appointment and had all data verified of the outstanding issues. the dealership called back to confirm mileage. my appointment was today 06/25/2018 at plaza jeep in inverness, fl - i dropped the vehicle off and when i returned to pick it up; only 1 of 6 recalls were addressed. i was told that they need to now order parts that the ones assigned to my vehicle had been used or gone. call chrysler and they advised that i could come back but parts may not be there. how can i make an appointment and confirm parts and yet they refuse to complete the work. i am told that i may make several appointments to get these done. i need help and cannot afford to keep taking days off and hope they have not used the parts assigned to me.

When fueling to full, the tank almost always overfills, the safety switch on the gas pump does not trip (no matter what station i use). i must monitor it closely and guess how much fuel i need and stop the pump early.

My windshield wipers suddenly refused to turn off. you must remove the fuse or disconnect the battery for the wipers to stop. was informed by dealership that it was a faulty tipm. the tipm is the electrical brains of the vehicle. chrysler is well aware of this faulty part and have recalled certain vehicles but denied the petition to recall the part in the 2010 jeep wrangler. it's disappointing that the company refuses to stand by their product and fix what they know to be faulty. the dealership quoted a $1200.00 price to fix the tipm.

I currently own a 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited sport. every time i fill up that gas tank it over flows. i have never had this issue in any other car i’ve owned. i go to the gas station to fill up my tank and i sit in my car while it fills up and when it’s full i get out of my car and every time there is gas all over my jeep and on the ground as well. i asked around and many other jeep owners have the same issue. i want to know what is causing this to happen and how it can be fixed. i won’t even get out of my car until my tank is full because it spray everywhere. please someone fix this issue we are having

I have what is known as a 'death wobble' at any time my jeep goes into a severe wobble of the front axle and steering. i was in 3rd gear going 30 mph slowing down for a stop sign, when the jeep went into the 'death wobble'. it is so severe it feels like the front end is going to break apart. the only way to stop this is to take your foot off the gas and put the manual transmission in neutral. my mechanic told me not to ever put your foot on the brake, because that can cause even more damage. my mechanic and i don't understand why jeep doesn't want to address this issue of safety. jeep just told me that yes they have heard of this complaint but they usually know how to fix it. but it will cost me a lot of money. i feel they should be addressing this issue as what it truly is "a safety issue"

Fuel filler overflows fuel during vehicle fueling. this occurs when filling tank until pump clicks off for the first time.

Fueling cut-off is not functioning. no matter what fuel station i use the vehicle fuel spits out of the fuel tank opening. i have went to pumping manually as slow as possible and the opening still spits fuel out once tank is full. this has been occurring for the last year. in the beginning, i could slow the flow and it would kick off without mess, but now no matter how slow it flows it spits fuel out onto the ground. the date below is the latest time it has happened.

1) doors are supposed to lock when vehicle gets to a certain speed but the driver side no longer locks automatically. 2) while vehicle was in park, the automatic gear slipped into drive and smashed into a wall and totally shut down. the jeep had to be towed to the dealer as the automatic gear shift would not move and the jeep would not start. the jeep has been in the repair shop for 3 days and the dealership has not been able to determine what is wrong with the jeep.

Fuel spills out when refueling vehicle. nozzle auto shuts off then fuel spurts out. no idea why, have not changed type of fuel being used although it is now winter in spokane so the formulation may have changed, don't know. it is a dangerous situation.

I have had my jeep for about six months now, and within the last month, it began spewing excess gas for a second or two even after it was done fueling. i have not done anything different to my car, nor have i been fueling at just one gas station. multiple stations have produced the same result. i am very afraid because the amount of gas could potentially be hazardous.

2010 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon 4x4 horn doesn't work. works to alert me when alarm is active or tripped only. clockspring replaced as per recall. horn still doesn't work. diagnosed horn. actual horn works. fuse is good. relay in tipm doesn't click. non- servicable part???!!! can't physically replace a simple relay for a horn for under $1000.00???!!! what the... i can not believe this. i need a horn for safety.

Takata recall: march 2017 we received notice from fiat chrysler automobiles describing a recall for our vehicle on the passenger air bag inflator. on 1 april 2017 i contacted spartanburg chrysler jeep, i was told parts are not available and was told i would be contacted when they were available. as of 24 october 2017 i have not heard from spartanburg chrysler jeep and have now received notice from tk holdings inc., that they are filing for bankruptcy protection and i may loose my ability to file a claim. i would like the passenger airbag inflator replaced with a safe one at no expense to me.

The vehicle headlights will randomly cut off while driving. the headlight issue effects both headlights and fog lights and will stay out for seconds and on several occasions require several minutes before coming back on both while stationary and while driving. i had the switch on the steering column replaced which did not correct the issue. the problem has been diagnosed to the fuse box. the headlights cutting out is a major concern and when i called jeep for a price they had it in stock which would indicate this is a known and normal issue.

There has still been no remedy to the takata airbag which can explode under extreme humidity

When filling the gas tank, fuel comes gushing out from the filler hole. this happens just as the gas pump clicks off. it spills a large amount of fuel all over the car and me. i would estimate 1/2 cup to 1 cup of gas spills depending on how quickly the gas pump is running. from my research so far this is not recalled and not under warranty. this seems like an extremely dangerous defect that was present and covered for 2007-2008 models. 2010 models need to be looked at and covered. this could be a potentially fatal defect.

On 7/9/16 and 7/19/16, i was driving on i95 and my car started the "death wobble" - uncontrollable intense shaking that i almost got into an accident. the only thing that stops, i discovered recently, it is to slow down to a stop, which is pretty difficult on a highway without getting rear ended or into an accident. this apparently is common among jeeps, especially wranglers, but it should be fixed by chrysler. this is really dangerous!!

2010 jeep jk - while driving, particularly at low speeds the airbag warning light is constantly flashing or, going on, then off, then on, then off, etc. each time with the sound and warning light. at higher speeds, it mostly stays in warning mode but if the steering wheel is turned at all, it will start to flash. apparently there are recalls on the rhd jeep jk and several other 2007 - 2010 model years. i believe there are several more vehicles involved than what they are claiming and mine should be one of them. i am worried the airbag may not work when it needs to.

Gasoline will shoot out of the filler tube when filling the vehicle with gas while manually pumping or using the auto shut-off of the pump handle. it occurs on almost every fill-up.

When pumping gas the gas does not click off and gas spits out all over me and the jeep. i just purchased this used from a ford dealer. i had this same problem with my dodge durango that had a recall by chrysler. i checked and there is no recall on the 2010 jeep wrangler but have researched and it seems to be a common problem with jeeps. there should be a recall on them before someone gets hurt. i filled up at different gas stations. i had other people pump the gas, including the mechanic from the dealership i purchased the jeep at. it did the same thing each time. the only way to avoid it is to not fill up which does not solve the problem.

The air bag warning light illuminates intermittently. the problem occurs anytime the vehicle is in operation. the dealer performed a diagnosis at my cost and found the clock spring to be defective. since the vehicle has 99355 miles the warranty was declined. the case number was 29098917.

When filling up with fuel at the pump, the automatic shutoff on the pump will click off and then a large amount of fuel will come spilling back out of the vehicle and onto the ground. it does this at almost every fill up regardless of the temperature, pump or gas station used.

While driving the air bag light comes on and goes off multiple times. after diagnosis i found out that the clock spring is at fault and this is a common issue. why hasn't there been a recall? there is a recall for the right hand drive wranglers but no the left hand drive. why is this? this is a safety issue that i think needs to be addressed asap.

Symptom was air bag light slowly flashing, specifically while driving. some other symptoms from others online specify while turning. diagnosis is bad clock spring with repairs necessary. this has been a documented issue that caused extended warranty in past years' models of jeep wrangler (2007) and caused a chrysler ordered letter to customers, but it is yet uncovered in other years, although there is documentation online of this issue being seen in future years' models (including my 2010 model).

Third clock spring replaced.

When reaching speeds of 45mph and above the steering wheel starts to shake violently from left to right. when this started, a mechanic saw nothing wrong except for a worn out steering stabilizer, so he replaced it. the problem persists, but now it only happens when i hit a bump in road when traveling above 50mph. i took it to a second mechanic and he installed an aftermarket track bar and balanced the wheels. the problem is still there. a simple internet search shows that this is not an uncommon occurrence with jeeps, yet the manufacturer has done nothing to correct it. my vehicle is completely stock, except for the track bar, and currently has approximately 60,000 miles on it.

Tipm problem. code reader codes are b10ec blower motor over current, b219a ignition start/ lock unlock over current. suggested fix, replace tipm. quoted from jeep to repair is $1100.00

Yesterday while traveling with my 2 young grandchildren, i experienced something known as "death wobble", a violent vibration in the front end. it happened 3 times yesterday and twice today. all times i was traveling on a freeway at around 55 mph. it began to wobble as i entered a curve in the road. i was lucky enough to be able to slow and pull to the shoulder each time. the only way to make it stop is to stop the vehicle. i'm especially concerned because this also happened to my 2007 wrangler. why has jeep not fixed this problem? it's both terrifying and expensive to fix. i will never purchase another jeep.

My wife parked our jeep at the top of driveway. car was placed in park and she got out of the car. she went to get something out of then back seat and could not open the doors. she realized the keys were in the ignition and she shut the car off and pulled out the keys. when she did this, the jeep started rolling down the driveway dragging her along. vehicle threw her and ran over both legs and had other internal injuries as well as severe concussion.

Airbag light and chime comes on and off while the jeep is being driven. horn still works, cruise control still works, dealership reviewed and diagnosis is clockspring is causing the issue. dealership also verified that when the light comes on and chime, the airbags are disabled. since the only part not working is the airbag sensor, shouldn't this be a safety issue and covered by chrysler? chrysler says that if this happened while the jeep was under warranty it would have been covered.

Like many others that i have spoken with, i have seen on forums, and i have seen on sites like this, the air bag light intermittently chimes and lights up indicating that the air bag system has malfunctioned and will not deploy if needed. i previously had a 2008 jeep wrangler, and it had the exact same issue. when i took it into the dealer, they told me that the clock spring required replacement. i have owned 2 wranglers and both of them have had the exact same problem. this is obviously a common issue and i find it hard to believe that my experience with this clock spring issue is coincidence. from what i understand, recalls have been issued for all 2007 models and for all right hand drive models from 2008-2012. i believe that it is imperative for public safety reasons that an investigation be performed to consider requiring jeep to address the remainder of their faulty airbag systems.

While filling the gas tank, it will overflow and about a gallon of gas will come out and go all over the ground. it happens at many different gas stations and is a hazard to people and the environment .

Never knew that this was an issue until recently but for 5 years, since the first fill up of gas, the automatic shut off on the pump pops followed by a spurting of gasoline out of my tank. it gets everywhere. on me, my clothes, my shoes, the ground, not to mention all over the side of my jeep and the fender.

The jeep was turned off and stopped at the gas station and when filing up with gas the gas pulsates out of the opening and spews out all over jeep and ground. also not sure if related the next day the gas cap code came on.

My headlights and marker lights would not shut off unless i disconnected the battery. windshield wipers would randomly come on and not shut off. changed out the accessory switch and that didn't fix anything. changed some fuses and the problem seemed to be resolved. the next day my jeep wouldn't start. jumped it without a problem and about a half a mile down the road while driving all of the dash lights started flashing. my jeep engines motor stalled while in motion on a busy city street with a speed limit of 40 mph, fortunately i had just started slowing down for the red light so an accident did not occur. i sat in the middle of the busy road for ten minutes waiting for the police to push me to an empty parking lot. due to these symptoms and the previous investigation (nhtsa defect investigation #dp14004), i believe i have a faulty tipm. the local repair shop in hubbard, ohio looked over the jeep for bad grounds and wires and nothing was found. on march 6, 2016, the jeep's headlights would not shut off unless the vehicle was shut off, the fog lights light on the dash flashed and the windshield wipers would come on with the fog light switch. the headlights would shut off when i shut the jeep off and removed the key, so i dealt with the problem for a few days until it went away on its own. i'm hoping this is the last of my tipm issues.

Air bag warning light and charm come on, failed clock spring, very common issue on these jeep wranglers, very dangerous as air bag will not deploy in a collision.

While filling the gas tank fuel will spill out of the filler spout. it seems to be under pressure when the tank is almost full....very dangerous...if you do not stop the pump prior to a full tank of gas it will spill out every time

Airbag dash light and warning chime come on intermittently. code shows - b1b02 - driver airbag squib 1 circuit open. clock spring is suspect, but the horn & cruise control are still functional. this condition happens at all times, whether stationary, moving or turning.

Fuel pukes out of the filler nozzel while filling.

During re-fueling, when the gas tank is full, gas overflows out of the vehicle and spills everywhere. i was told the entire gas tank has to be replaced. my warranty is expired and there is no recall for my year jeep wrangler (2010). i saw that this is covered for jeep years 2006-2007 regardless of miles/warranty. this is a hazard that should be covered for any year jeep, not just those specific years.

Transmission cooler lines are leaking from the metal to rubber fittings. they've been replaced before, but the oem part develops this leak. chrysler issued a tsb for this and dealer states it's a known issue. my vehicle is no longer covered by the tsb & this is a fire hazard as the atf gets all over the front end.

Gas tank overflow on every fillup. on some pumps i can only pump 1/3 of a gallon at a time very slowly. it seems clear that the check valve is having some kind of issue as is a well known problem in these jeeps. the dealership will not take any responsibility for the problem and charges almost double what a new tank would cost to diagnose and replace the tank.

While parked engine began to repeatedly cranked and moved over curb over 20 feet until stop by striking over vehicles and exhaust battery power.

Fuel spills out of the filler port during the refueling process. this condition generally occurs when the fuel tank is filled to the full or nearly full level and the gas pump automatically shuts or clicks off. the fuel splashes on the person fueling the car, the car itself, and onto the ground. this happens repeatedly, not just a single occurrence. have tried different gas pumps, slowing the pump when it gets to almost full, and finally now just not filling up completely due to safety concerns of fuel spilling onto ground/driver/vehicle. date given is most recent occurence, while it has been happening for over 6 months.

Broken clockspring.

Every time i fill up the gas tank, the tank overflows. the automatic shutoff on the pump doesn't stop and gas pours out. every time, every gas station. i can't fill up the tank completely because it will overflow. i have to estimate when it's close to full and stop it before it gets close.

Heavy oil consumption 3-4 quarts every 2000 miles .. i bought the jeep new in aug. 2010 it has 48200 miles on it.. it is just out of warranty. took it to the dealer and called chrysler. they wont do anything and told me they have never heard of that. so i took it to a local machine shop and they told me that the piston rings are sticking to the pistons allowing oil into the combustion chamber. their are many complaints online about this exact problem

Tamara inflators see where right hand drive has been recalled. took my jeep to dealer,they told me they have seen hundreds with this problem,one dealer. also said my airbags was disabled because of this. i would like to know i am safe after paying this much for a jeep. i only have 64,000 miles on it. dealership said they should be recalled, so many 2010.

My 2010 jeep (manual) pops out of 1st gear, very violently, after i've started into the middle of an intersection. potentially very dangerous to me, my passengers, & whoever the unlucky vehicle's passengers may be meeting me at that moment. this has happened since i bought it 2 1/2 years ago. 1 mechanic asked if i knew how to drive a stick. i'm female, 41yrs & have been driving a stick since i learned at age 13 it is the only type of transmission i drive. i'm writing now because i didn't know this existed before & started searching for a better transmission not a replacement when i found this & a few more that state the same problems i'm having. i'm not sure how many of these complaints need to be given before someone hears them & chooses to listen but hopefully soon. it's jan. 2016

Gasoline overflows out of the filler while adding fuel. this has happened at different gas stations from indiana to florida. fuel overflows no matter how fast or slow i fill the tank and if i allow the pump to auto shut off or i fill by hand. i have attached a photo of another jeep wrangler doing the same thing as mine.

Tamara recall, airbag light comes on and off, repair shop checked the codes,tells me when the light is on,the airbag is disabled. i checked and found thousand of complaints with same problem. also found recall with right side steering,but none for left side. took to dealership, $700. this defect should be a concern before people get killed. taking this seriously, airbags are useless. once i am driving,it comes on,chimes every couple of minutes.

Just about every time i fill up my 2010 jeep wrangler jk with gas, it spits gas back out of the fill up neck tube. when i get home and park it in the garage it fills the entire house up with gas odor. i am very concerned about our health as this could not be safe. just a side note, i am also concerned what this will do to my nice paint. i have researched this very good and have read several other cases identical to mine and it seems that this problem needs addressed.

My airbag light keeps going on and off every minute while i was driving. i took it in to have it get looked at and the dealership informed me that it was a clock-spring issue. i did some research and selected jeep models from 2007 to 2012 had a recall for this issue. when i contacted crystler on this issue they informed me that my jeep is not part of the recall even though it is the same problem as other jeeps. it is going to cost about $700.00 out of pocket to fix this issue on my jeep.

My airbag lights keep going off and on every minute or so. i called chrysler to see if their was a recall on the clock spring and they said no. the repair is going to cost me $750.00.

Recently purchased a used 2010 jeep wrangler every time i fill the tank gas it spits out on auto shut off and is like a geyser when i remove the pump. gas goes all over my hand and clothes. i note there are several other reports of this. this occurs every time i fill the tank. there were > 900 complaints regarding this in 2010-11. why won't chrysler fix this problem?

Was driving down freeway and the vehicle just went up in flames out of no where beginning on passengers side under the hood. fire engulfed the vehicle entirely. total loss.

We bought this vehicle almost two years december. after having this vehicle around 7 months with no problems, we took it to king expresslube to have oil changed, in which, the wrong oil filter was put on vehicle resulting in a blown engine. king expresslube pair the entire cost of the engine and the vehicle was taken to north point jeep. every since engine was replaced, we have had problems with the car not cranking. vehicle has been towed to the jeep dealership numerous times with them saying, " we can't find anything wrong". was advised to carry a " hammer" to tap under starter to " see if it will crank" . so it broke down again two weeks ago which they had the vehicle two days and was returned stating they can't find anything wrong! would not crank again today and they finally found something! said that it was the tipm, of course that's not covered under warranty and it will cost us 900.00 to replace part! this has been very tacky business practice since i have read today that chrysler has known this is a faulty part and unwilling to stand behind their vehicles! i am very upset that they are unwilling to help in any way! thank you for listening to my story! shannon h

I was driving to work on 10-5-15 when a drunk driver pulled out in front of me, i had no time to stop but when my 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited hit their vehicle, i immediately smelled and saw smoke comming from the engine compartment of my jeep. i drove to the side of the road where i quickly got out and made it just in time because the vehicle quickly burst into flames. my airbags also did not deploy which i thought odd because i was traveling around 45 mph at the time of the accident.

The airbag clockspring assemblies needed to be replaced in my left-hand drive jeep wrangler. the jeep wrangler already has a recall for right-hand drive models addressing broken airbag clockspring assemblies. recall number: 13v176000 in the event of a crash necessitating airbag deployment, a broken electrical circuit in the airbag clockspring wiring assembly can lead to non-deployment of the driver-side frontal airbag and will not be able to properly protect the driver, increasing the risk of injuries. in my opinion this is a serious safety risk in the jeep wrangler. i received the warning light while the jeep was in motion, and luckily i was near a jeep dealership (bill bryan chrysler dodge jeep, fruitland park, fl 34731) where i had the broken airbag clockspring assembly replaced to the tune of $500.

I have what is commonly known as the jeep "death wobble". i cannot believe that a recall has not been issued for this. i almost caused an accident entering a highway with a construction zone as there was no where to pull over. the jeep was uncontrollable at 55 mph.

There are recalls already for the issue below for right hand steering vehicles. this recall should be applied to all jeep wrangler vehicles 2007-2012. a broken electrical circuit in the airbag clockspring wiring assembly can lead to non-deployment of the driver frontal airbag and will not be able to properly protect the driver in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injuries. anytime that the steering wheel is moved from neutral/straight position the airbag light will turn on and a chime is heard.

Airbag light comes on and off when turning steering wheel dealer tells me its the air bag clock spring. when i turn on my blinker to turn left it doesn't turn off since i've bought it. my car has 66,567 miles on it

When exiting vehicle noticed a strong raw gas smell on drivers side. vehicle was then parked in garage overnight and upon entering the garage the next morning, the fumes were so strong that immediate ventilation was necessary. problem may coincide with when gas tank is filled to capacity. problem repeated for a few days and then did not reoccur until gas tank was refilled.

The problem is and has been with first gear (6 speed manual transmission). within the first year of ownership the local jeep dealer was asked about the "popping-out" of first gear. they said that they could not get it to do so while they had it in their possession. within the last two (2) months it has gotten to be not only an annoyance, but a safety issue. safety in that pulling out in traffic becomes an "adventure." there is no confidence that it will not pop-out leaving the vehicle momentarily in a stalled condition with approaching oncoming traffic. one week ago it was taken again to the local jeep dealer. warranty expired this past april. the problem was acknowledged and the cost for them to repair this problem was stated to be $6,000. {note: online we have noticed many concerns and complaints identical to ours. in fact, many jeep dealers have used the exact same line "we could not get it to occur." apparently there has also been a tsb issued by jeep addressing the issue of the first gear popping problem}

I was traveling on a cold and icy road and inside was cold due to the heater core being filled with casting sand. i crossed a river and the difference in humidity caused the windshield to fog up and freeze. i was not able to see the road, but managed to stick my head out the window to keep from crashing. i could have been killed. the temp was about 5° outside. i was near grand island nebraska. south of the walmart on south locust street.

Air bag warning light began illuminating when driving in straight line, when turning the light turns off until driving straight again. this is a left hand drive vehicle with the same symptoms as the recall placed on right hand drive models of the same year.

When filling my gas tank, the gas overflows every time.

I was driving my jeep to work when all the sudden white smoke entered the cap. i rolled the window down to vent the smoke and saw flames at my feet. i pulled the jeep over to the side of the highway just in time for the brakes to fail. after putting the emergency brake on so it would roll into another car i jumped out of the car just in time to see the flames eat the hood of my jeep and work its way back through my entire vehicle. i watched as the fire department put out the fire over and over and over. since it had a full tank of gas my jeep was distroyed. i put $70,000 of parts into my jeep and it was all eaten by a fire in 20 minutes. i got the oil changed done at the dealership and was never told about a recall. i never recieved any piece of mail notifying me of any recall. i didn't know about the fire issues until i started to research what the problem might have been. the fire department said that they will investigate it but that there really isn't anything left of the jeep to find the origin. i have video of the fire when it was occuring as well as pictures of the before, during, and after the fire....updated 09/22/15 *bf updated 12/11/2017*cn

Every time i fill my fuel tank with gas, it never shuts off and it spits it back out.

I have been getting radom warning chimed and an air bag warning light when turning the steering wheel while cornering. now it is almost always on and needs to be fixed before next inspection is due. its a clockspring failure in the steering column, a problem common to the current wranglers from 07-2014. there has already been a recall for the rhd models for the same thing but not lhd jeeps. this is my second failure,my 2007 had the same problems as my 2010. its time for jeep to offer a recall and replace this part of the airbag system.

Gasoline shoots out upon full tank, pump nozzle on auto fill. start to remove nozzle and gas shoots out of filler tube. this has happened numerous times over last two years. gas gets on clothes and skin. i feel chrysler should correct this problem as there are numerous complaints regarding this issue.

While the vehicle was driven about 20mph, first on line to a traffic light and on about 20 t0 25 feet before the intersection and light was red, and when the brake was applied it did not stop and the vehicle kept moving and it was stopped by the emergency brake. a burning smell got inside the vehicle and people stopped yelling that the vehicle was on fire. when the hood was opened and the fire put out we notices that the fire started at the brakes pump sensor. it burned all the wiring around there to include plastic cover of left hand side wheel, the steering column rubber joint, sensors, the hood and other parts in that side.

Fuel overflows every time i fill up. if i fill the tank to the auto shutoff point a fair amount of fuel spits out and down the side of the vehicle. this is a potential fire hazard, and not very good for the environment. so now i only put three fourths in so i don't have it pouring out and onto my jeep

Vehicle headlights failed to illuminate on activation of the headlight circuit via control stalk. lights would flicker in a specific pattern then go dark. activating high beam circuit repeated the cycle with high beam illumination. complete reset of electrical system (battery disconnected for hour +) would clear up the issue for ~2-3 hours of operation before problem resumed. required dealer replacement of tipm as headlight control circuit is a part of that module. tipm was on backorder when problem first surfaced, leading me to believe that this model of tipm may be the source of the issue. vehicle was undrivable for commute during early morning/evening hours due to lack of forward illumination. all other vehicle lighting and accessories functioned correctly.

Air bag light comes on and warning sound goes off intermittently. researched the internet and there are a large number of complaints for the same symptoms. appears to be a defective clock spring for which chrysler issued a recall but only on right hand drives. contacted chrysler and they don't believe it is an issue. i'm concerned that my air bag will not deploy in the event of a crash. if this is an issue in right hand drives, not sure why it would not apply to all. they do use the same clock spring.

My vehicle has leaks on the supply and return transmission cooler lines. as per nhsta # 10041077, dealer and chrysler claim that this recall doesn't apply to my vehicle vin. i have same issue as everybody else in the recall. oil leaking at the flex hose section of the line.

Lines from transmission to cooler leak transmission fluid which could cause fire. have read and heard about many other vehicles having the same problem. saw a letter addressing older models of this vehicle but they tell me that mine isn't covered by this. *tr

When fueling the vehicle, the pump shuts off and a backpressure sprays fuel out of the tank onto the person fueling. it happens at multiple gas stations and pumps. it also happens if the pump handle is set to shut off or if the person fueling is holding the handle. on most occasions the gas station is open and i am able to wash my hands. on some occasions when the gas station is closed, the fuel vapors from my hands have caused headaches while driving. i have had to decide to deal with it or drive with the windows down when it is 5 degrees outside. a little research shows, i am not the only one dealing with this issue. if it is such a well known issue, why is it not being corrected? *tr

I have a lhd jeep wrangler unlimited sport. it is a 2010 and the issue that is occurring is the clockspring has gone bad. the light came on for the air bag in about may and once i saw how much it was to fix it i just decided to deal with the annoying beep. after researching jeep forums, i've seen that chrysler corp has been pretty negligent in addressing the issue by saying the recall only applies for rhd vehicles. if you're having numerous reports of a problem but in a lhd vehicle why wouldn't you own up to it? i'm not sure if people need to die in an accident before they own up to it or what but its pretty ridiculous. *tr

The transmission cooler lines on my 2010 jeep wrangler began to leak at the hose-to-tube crimp joints. there was no other wear to the lines - only the failure of the hose-to-crimp area. the cooler lines had to be fully replaced to correct the problem. chrysler issued a document covering 2008-2010 jeep wrangler issues with the transmission cooler lines weeping at the hose-to-tube crimp joints, but this doesn't seem to cover my vin for the year. further vins should be included in the fix, as it seems to be a problem with more jeeps than they have previously included. *tr

While driving at all speeds i would get an airbag warning light and chime associated with steering inputs. contacted service department. they said no recall exists and im out of warranty and would have to pay to get it fixed. looked up recalls and failed components common to my complaint. found the exact problem on my jeep up to 2009 and another recall for my year jeep but only right handed steering models. did more research and the same part number component is used in all of them in this year group but my vehicle isn't covered. this is a gross neglect to address a know safety concern and could result in serious injury or death. the jeep was bought new, and airbags should be warrantied for longer than 36,000 miles. especially when they are being recalled for every year and model around mine and i have the same exact problem. *tr

Gas will overflow at very fill up, especially when using the auto-fill lever latch on the pump handle. many times, the gas has sprayed and soaked the attendant filling my car (i live in nj and cannot fill the vehicle myself). the is an extreme safety hazard as many gallons have been spilled during single incidents. most releases are approximately a 1/10 of a gallon or less but once a month or so, it is very severe and will continue to spray gas until someone manually releases the lever. *js

The problem happened 3 times. two at very low speeds during the day, and once at night at high speed. the first time it happened, i was driving the jeep and the engine stalled. it was hard to steer, but i was moving slow. i thought it was a weird fluke. i put the car in park and restarted it with no problem. the second time it my husband was driving, we had just pulled out of our neighborhood and the jeep stalled. the breaks don't work well, and the steering is difficult. he put the jeep in neutral and restarted it with no problem. the third time it happened, was on january 10, 2015. i was driving at night with my child on a long trip. i had been driving the jeep for several hours on the interstate. it happened at around 10:00 pm - it was very dark. i was in the passing lane going about 65 mph when the engine stalled, the headlights went out, all the interior lights went out, dashboard went dark, and i knew from the previous two times, that if i applied the breaks or tried to steer, it would be very difficult. i decided that i didn't want to look down and try to find neutral and accidentally put it in a low gear. so i turned the ignition switch and everything came back on (engine, light inside and out, power steering, and power breaks) while the jeep was in drive traveling at 65 mph. i took it to the jeep dealer to have it repaired. they told me that the trans range sensor went bad. my main concern is - why is the engine stalling and jeep losing all power while moving when the sensor goes bad? there was no warning light to let me know a sensor was bad. are all jeeps designed with this sensor, and will all jeeps experience the same thing if their trans range sensor goes bad, or was it just something that happened with my specific vehicle? *tr

At the end of attempting to fill our gas tank, fuel expelled from the tank back out onto my husband, the side of the car and the ground around the port. this experience has repeated itself at different gas stations and in different outdoor conditions (rainy, sunny, snow, etc.). we previously owned a 2008 jeep wrangler that demonstrated the same issue and a repair was made as that model year was within a previous recall range. before we purchase this vehicle (used) we checked the maintenance and repair records and knew this issue had not been identified. so, we were surprise to experience it. we were even more surprised to learn that chrysler is not going to assume the responsibility to repair this know defect issue for a later model (why hasn't this been fixed?) with little concern for personal or environmental safety for families when reported. all attempts to converse with chrysler representatives about this have resulted in a "it's your problem" attitude - no recall, no warranty and wrong model year - and absolutely pushing us to take it up with the dealer to get fixed. our dealer is an honest, hardworking business and we know it's not his issue . . . it's chrysler's. chrysler needs to make this right. this is my primary means of transportation. i drive three school-age children in this car. it was to be the car my soon-to-be licensed drivers were to have. *tr

Power window went down wouldn't go up..took to dealer when hooked to computer it says the control module is faulty. as a mail carrier this is a detriment to ability to do the job the vehicle was bought for. the dealer also stated that this is a known issue but there are no parts available to replace it. *tr

The fuel shutoff for filling up the tank no longer works. if you fill up the vehicle, when the shutoff clicks fuel gushes out. when you remove the fuel nozzle, more fuel gushes out. i use the term gush because it is not a small amount but quite a bit of fuel. *tr

I recently bought a 2010 jeep wrangler and found that it has a fuel back flow issue. every time i refuel, the gasoline blows back out upon removal of the gas nozzle. gasoline gets on the ground, on me, as well as the paint and bumper of the vehicle. this appears to be a safety problem, let alone an environmental hazard. when inquiring into the fix i have been told that the entire gas tank assembly needs to be replaced at quite a high cost. (of course my jeep is out of warranty.) due to the potential liability i wouldn't be surprised if there's not a class action lawsuit impending. *tr

Air bag warning light came on so i took it to a local dealer to tell me what the malfunction was, they told me it was the clock spring. i asked if there was any recalls on it, they said only on the rhd wranglers so i asked how much to repair it. they said it would be around $500.00 reluctantly i paid it because it's a safety item that i didn't want to take a chance on. after researching this matter i discovered this is an on going problem with the jeeps and i feel this should be a recall item just as the rhd wranglers (same part) and chrysler should refund my money. *js

Problem started about 5 months ago. at first i thought it was a station problem as my regular station underwent a huge makeover including new pump equipment. after trying many different stations in il and in and doing research on the net, i find it is a widespread problem. nothing helps the huge gush of gas that pours out of my jeep everytime i fill up!! . i've tried filling slow, filling manually (not automatic setting on pump nozzle), nothing works! i even had my husband fill it just to prove i wasn't a helpless female or dumb blonde. i don't know why it started happening. i bought the vehicle new so i know the complete vehicle history and service. after filling up yesterday and getting soaked with gasoline again, i had enough! time to complain and see what happens. this is really a serious issue and needs to be addressed. somebody is going to get seriously injured if this is not corrected. many times i see people around gas pumps smoking and now i not only have to watch what i'm doing, i need to make sure nobody around me is doing anything careless that could cause me harm! email was sent off to chrysler - waiting for response as well as info from my dealer. *tr

My headlights constantly fail and will start to blink on and off and stay off!! this is a common problem with this model and chrysler can't seem to fix the issue. the safety of driving down the road and having your headlights turn off and not come back is a huge issue and should be addressed immediately. i would hope to think that someone would take the responsibility to rectify this problem before someone gets seriously injured!!! *tr

The vehicle fails to accelerate at a reasonable safe speed to merge with interstate traffic in the given distance allowed for merging. when accelerating to a speed of 60-65 mph and the vehicles engine reaches an indicated rpm of approx 3500-4000 rpm, the vehicle will cease to accelerate and actually decelerate while the vehicle's engine rpm continues to increase until the accelerator pedal is released. the driver has to release foot from accelerator pedal to allow the engine rpm to drop below an rpm of 3500 and the vehicle to resume acceleration. this vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission. *tr

I have a 2010 jeep wrangler that i run on mail routes. the tpms always goes off and i take it to the dealership and they are unable to fix this. for safety reasons, i put the spare tire inside so i have a better view in my rear window so i can see who is behind me. i drove the jeep a few months like this and had no problem then one day the tpms light and chime goes off each time i start the jeep. the dealership is guessing it might be the spare tire that is inside. i emailed chrysler a number of times to fix the issue and they refuse to fix the issue because the dealership excuse is the spare tire is on the inside instead of the outside. is there anything i can do to get this fixed or is there nothing i can do at all because the dealership and chrysler refuses to help? would this not be against the law if this is faulty and they also told me it would be against the law to turn the tpms off or lower the pounds per tire? the dealership said they went over all the troubleshooting instructions from chrysler and they can not find the issue to fix this problem. *tr

In 2012 my vehicle encountered a problem with the fuel tank assembly that resulted in gasoline spitting out of the filler tube while i was filling it up at the gas station. the dealership repaired it under warranty on december 3, 2012. on september 20, 2014; the exact same failure occurred again. almost 5 gallons of gasoline spilled out before i could shut the pump off which resulted in my cloths being saturated with fuel and a hazmat spill that caused the gas station to shut down until it was taken care of. this is causing both a hazardous spill in the environment and a safety issue for all persons surrounding the area. i contacted my local jeep dealer and they stated that the vehicle is no longer under warranty and that it would cost me $1,400 to repair the issue. i have contacted jeep customer service and they stated that there is no safety recall or technical bulletin in place. *tr

While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle headlamps blinked on and off twice then went out. i tried cycling the switch on and off but they would not turn on. shortly after switching to high beams, these too turned off. this has happened numerous times since 9/12/14. *tr

The clock spring unit is experiencing a broken airbag circuit. the airbag indicator repeatedly chimes and illuminates a dash panel indicator. there is already a recall for rhd, but not for lhd. the same problem exists on lhd. there are many complaints on this and well know issue among jeep owners. please chrysler, fix this defect. additionally my horn has never operated properly; it either doesn't activate when pressed or will remain on after pressed and you have to hit the horn over an over to get it to stop. also my cruise control has stopped working. all of these go through the clock spring. *tr

Want to update odi #10629109 with this information: airbag warning light eliminated and started a sequence of 2 bells, light on for aprx 10 seconds, then off for same, then sequence starts again. dealer diagnosed a broken clock spring but my vin not included in recall info i provided them. contacted manufacturer and filed complaint, they said this recall was for rhd vehicles and i disagreed according to the nhtsa investigation; action #pe11019 and recall #11v52800. when asked what grievance process was available to me, she said none. complaint #25543107 was filed and she said i will be contacted if my vin is added to the recall. she could not tell me why would my vehicle did not qualify for the recall? i paid for the repairs and retained the broken part;, which the tec said was clearly broken while still in the column and came out in pieces. while the warning lamp was eliminated it affected the stability of the vehicle and caused sway or wandering when at high speed on the freeway.

Airbag warning light would come on intermittently

Initially, after moderate acceleration from a stop to 35 mph, engine elicits a new loud rattling sound. this sound directly corresponds to engine rpm dramatically increasing with rpm over 2000. when decelerating from a higher rpm, the sound increases until moderate acceleration is again applied. the sound emanates from the upper right engine area at all times during engine operation. this sound first occurred within one week of a dealer oil change and continues unchanged after 1400 miles. there is no noticeable change in vehicle performance. gas mileage efficiency has decreased by one to two miles per gallon. *tr

When filling up my gas tank with fuel on my 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited, the tank has overflowed. the tank cuts off at 17.5 gallons and upon cutting up it spews fuel from the top of the tank. this has cause fuel to spill onto me and all over the side of the vehicle staining the gas cap and side fenders. there is also great risk to the paint on the vehicle with continued fuel exposure. there is great safety concern for gas spilling out at a gas station. this could lead to fire or gas spilling on my small children if they were to be standing with me. *tr

After backing out of parking space, stopping and placing jeep in drive, vehicle continued to move in reverse. dash display continued to indicate car was in reverse. vehicle was placed in park and the ignition turned off. vehicle would not restart. tried disconnecting battery but did not reset. also tried the manual override, which did allow shifting to neutral, however vehicle would still not start. display continued to show vehicle in reverse regardless of shifting to different gears. this could have been a dangerous situation, with potential for injuries to those in the parking lot. also, could have resulted in an accident had it occurred at an intersection or other location. why is this not a recall? this seems to be occurring in many jeep/chrysler products based on vehicle forums. *tr

The headlights of the jeep sporadically go off. you just never know when they will work. sometimes when you start the car up they won't work, but the most dangerous is when they go off when you are driving at night and have no idea that they have shut off. the high beams won't work when this happens, but the parking and fog lights can be used as some kind of back up. *tr

Driving on a 4 lane roadway at 4 am , speed was 55 mph when the headlights flashed 4 times and then stayed off. since this first occurence this has randomly happened. a maintenance visit to the local jeep dealer in manassas, va indicates a faulty total integrated power control module (tipm) failure. *tr

While driving down the road at approx 45mph, the jeep began to shake/jump uncontrollably for no apparent reason. we took it into the jeep dealer from whom we bought the vehicle. he tightened the track bar (??) and replaced the steering stabilizer. we explained to him that we were beginning a cross country trip, so he should check everything. a week or so later, we began the trip from florida to california. two days into the trip (east texas), while traveling at highway speeds, we experienced the shake again. we had to top the vehicle and took it to the nearest jeep dealership, driving on side streets at minimal speeds. the dealership replaced the upper and lower ball joints. there were already two jeeps in the shop with the same problem and while we were there, another person came in with the same issue. we then continued our trip. two days later, in california, we again experienced the shake while traveling at highway speeds. again, we took the car to a jeep dealer who said we needed to replace the steering stabilizer. we told him it had already been done. he noted that the stabilizer that comes as standard equipment with the jeep is not robust enough and that most jeeps will experience this problem if not upgraded. we also reported this sequence of events to jeep. we have since researched this issue on the internet and have found the problem is know as "death wobble" and seems to be quite prevalent. *tr

I have a 2010 jeep wrangler with 16,000 miles that the airbag light has come on. have taken to certified dealer who diagnosed as faulty module and not covered under warranty, including extended warranty. reading online comments discovering jeep did a recall for this issue up to model year 2008 and also recalled right hand drive models beyond 2008 for this issue. in my opinion the only reason they are not recalling this for post 2008 jeeps is there are too many on the road, over 300,000. i also have issue with the dealer (stetler york, pa) diagnosing at $95.00 then stating they do not have the part and need to order it, it has been 3 weeks now. additionally, they, dealer could not tell us if the airbag would operate correctly in the event of an accident. one final note, the dealer stated this is common from jeeps rough ride. excuse me, they proclaim/advertise rugged readiness. i have never off road-ed this vehicle. i am completely frustrated with this condition. i think jeep should stand behind their products. regards, [xxx] [xxx] york, pa. This vehicle is equipped with a 6 speed manual transmission. when crossing a busy highway the shifter/transmission pops out of gear with such force as to feel like you were struck from behind. it also leaves you dead in the water so to speak, with traffic coming at you. this was the 1st of several incidents like this that has happened. though these incidents happen at low speed they pose the threat of injury or death from being struck while your vehicle is out of gear. i reported it to the selling dealer it came from who referred me to amoco transmission to have it looked at under warranty. ammco referred me to go to a jeep dealer because there is a tsb concerning this problem. once again i contacted the selling dealer i purchased it from to see how they wanted to proceed. they contacted the local jeep dealer and were told that yes chrysler knows of the problem but it is nothing they're fixing under warranty. this issue should be a recall before someone is injured or killed. i have checked online and found that apparently this is an ongoing problem that many others have and are going through with their manual transmission equipped jeep wranglers. *tr

I have had several big issues with my jeep in the last month and a half. first my brake caliper and piston were frozen due to the fluids not flowing properly according to my mechanic. 2 weeks later my airbag light came on and stayed on brought it into the dealership and they needed to replace my clock spring and the third issue was my engine light that came on and then my car would not start. i needed to replace my alternator which was faulty and then drained my battery which i also had to replace. these three issues have cost me over $1000.00 dollars in a short period of time. i was wondering if any of them are a issue with my make and model and year of my vehicle. this is becoming i safety issue in my eyes. especially my brakes and airbag issue. *tr

Every time i go to pump gas to fill the tank up completely, the pump does sense to shut off but gas comes spewing out and down the side of the jeep. it is very irritating to not be able to fill it entirely, especially since the jeep drinks gas pretty fast. nothing i can do will stop it from running over, other than just not filling it 100%, which shouldn't even be an issue to begin with. i would really like for this to be addressed. *js

I purchased a used 2010 wrangler from a chrysler dealer on 6/18/2013 with 19,xxx miles and after about a month of driving, the gas overflows at the pump every single time i try to fill the tank. at first, i set the pump to automatically shut off and upon doing so, the gas continues to come out after the shut off and it spews out onto the paint, the ground and my shoes - everywhere. i have tried filling up at different stations and at different pumps but the problem continues. i'm left no other choice than to not fill up for fear of a potential fire hazard and of spills costing me money on wasted (expensive) gas. i've noticed this is an ongoing issue with multiple complants and i am wondering what it's going to take for there to be a proper recall on this dangerous manufacturing error? *tt

Gas pump does not shutoff when filling gas tank during initial fill (i do not topoff). this results in fuel spilling all over cap, left rear bumper, shoes and ground. happens at different stations and different pumps. is not intermittent - happens all the time. the only way to prevent this is to guess on number of gallons required and manually shutoff pump when that value is reached. *tr

I have a 2010 jeep jk unlimited 4x4. i bought the vehicle used from a local dealer in july of 2013, with approx. 10k miles on it. at about 18k miles, i began experiencing the common dreaded "death wobble". i was driving down a country road with my children in the back seats. all of a sudden, while hitting a small bump in the road, the steering wheel began rapidly moving back and forth and the frontend of the vehicle was shaking violently. i quickly stopped the vehicle, checked on my now frightened children, then go out to examine my vehicle. i couldn't find anything obvious, like tie rods or ball joints. so, i slowly drove home. i went over the entire front end. couldn't find anything. after reading a lot of forums on the matter, i found i am one of many jeep owners that have/are fighting this same issue. i went ahead and put on a new steering stabilizer, and trackbars, as these are claimed to be the most common issues (even though mine looked fine and had no play). i continually have had the problem and have had it to shop for an alignment, tire rotations, and checking the balancing on the tires. the shop said tires and alignment were fine. we found that there was some play in the sector shaft where the pitman arm connects to the steering gearbox. some guys are saying they have replaced theirs 3 times in 30k miles. i don't offroad, my vehicle isn't exposed to harsh conditions, where one could expect mechanical failures. i currently have 26k miles on mine, and have been trying to find out the cause, meanwhile throwing $$ and parts on it to try and find the issue. after researching and seeing the large amount of owners fighting death wobble and the component failures which cause it, i feel chrysler should be held accountable to some level. i think they should be recognizing the problem and the large scale of it, and offering some type of solution to fix the issue. *tr

This has happened multiple times, while driving at a higher rater of speed (anything above 45mph) and going around a curve, the front end begins to violently shake to the point that it is difficult/impossible to control and you must pull off to the side of the road. aka the death wobble. there was not a pot hole, or anything in the way, just a regular road. i have had to do this on several occasions and on busy highways, nearly causing an accident and being rear ended since i had to stop suddenly and pull off the road. i have take it in a number of times with this problem and no solution is found, they just keep wanting to rotate my tires. *tr

When fueling up at the gas pumps, if you put the pump on auto, the pump handle will shutoff when the tank is full, but spews about a half gallon of fuel back up and out on the vehicle and your hand (if on the pump handle). does it every time. only work around i have come up with is to fuel up, close to full, then slowly feather up to full, or on lowest pump setting. otherwise you have fuel dumping out all over, which is a safety concern. *tr

I purchased a used 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited on july 11, 2013. it had just under 10k miles on it. within the first few days of driving it, i hear and feel a thump in the steering, while driving. it is not a normal noise from suspension working. the issue has gone on and on. later at about 18k miles, i began having death wobble issues. i have had it to 2 shops and inspected things myself. ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rods/ends, steering stabilizer, you name it. i finally after several scary events, and continually having shops tell me there is nothing wrong, have found the issue. with 25k miles, i am having to have the steering gear box replaced. the sector shaft is shot. the steering wheel is all over the place. this is my daily driver, so unfortunately i have no option but to drive it and hope i make it to and from safely, as well as the other drivers on the road. i believe after a lot of research on the jeep forums, that jeep has a problem with the gear box, and that it is one of the common causes of death wobble in the jk models. i am taking mine in tomorrow to have it replaced. i have only 25k miles on it, but it is 4yrs old. so, i am sure i will end up stuck with the bill on this. *tr

When refueling, the nozzle on the fuel pump will not stop on time, allowing fuel to splash back at the person refueling. today, the nozzle didn't stop at all, allowing a lot of fuel to spill on the ground. a person doesn't have to fill it up either. if you stop mid refill, it will still spray back at the person refueling. *tr

Airbag light is intermittently lit. multiple sources and troubleshooting have led to the airbag clockspring assembly. chrysler has a recall for this (13v176000), but it only applies to right hand drive vehicles. there are numerous left hand drive vehicles that have had this failure. in searching for this part online, i found that there is no part number difference between right or left hand drive. this is a safety issue per nhtsa standards. *tr

Every time i fill up my tank, gas gushes out all over the side of my vehicle and onto the ground. the auto shutoff on the nozzle will not work. i am not "topping off" or leaving the hose unattended.this has happened at multiple gas stations. i feel that gasoline spewing out onto my clothes, all over the side of the jeep and onto the pavement is clearly a safety hazard. this started happening about two months after my standard warranty ended. i was told by the dealer they are aware of the problem, but repair is not covered, even though the exact problem would be fixed for free if i had an older model jeep.

When refueling, when the fuel filler nozzle clicks off, there is a gush of fuel that spouts out of the fuel tank filler neck for a second or two. it has now become consistent, regardless of when or where the vehicle is refueled (at 6000' or 3000', on 75 degree days or 30). this problem did not occur before this past summer, and was intermittent until about this october. it now occurs anytime the filler is allowed to click off. it behaves as if the fuel tank is not venting as fuel is delivered. when the delivery is cut off, the pressure in the tank, increased through introduction of fuel without an equivalent reduction in volume of air, expels the fuel remaining in the filler neck until equalized. this is speculation on my part but plausibly describes the observed behavior. *tr

I was coming back from lunch break and was getting ready to pull into the parking space at work, when i shift the shifter back to neutral... the shifter broke off. it looks like the welding job was not to standar. from my visual inspection of the welding i can see air pockets. luckly i was not on a highway or else this could have turn ugly for me.

This car has had 11 serious incidents of what is called the "death wobble". the car hits a bump or rough edge on the freeway or highway and immediately goes into an uncontrolled wobble of the steering wheel and the wheels wiggle back and forth. this can only be stopped by slowing down or stopping. the incident described above 1st occurred on august 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm on highway 101 in newport, oregon after i hit a bump. it occurred on august 25, 2013 5 times at about 10:00 am on interstate 3 in oregon after hitting a bump or rough section in the road. it occurred 3 times on highway 99 in california after it hit a bump in the road. finally, it occurred 4 times on august 25th. this car is unreliable and unsafe to drive on any freeway. this car has never been driven off road or mistreated and has only 62,000 miles, mostly miles are freeway miles. the car will be evaluated by an independent auto repair shop and then by a jeep dealership. as stated, the incidents described above are serious and can cause the car to out of control. the car was purchased new in july 2010. there are a number of reports on this car that describe the death wobble. they are: (1) the congressional letter of march 19, 2012 from congressman henry waxman and congresswoman anna eschoo to nhtsa's administrator stickland asking for data on the "death wobble" as well as chrysler's response to the incidents. (2) abc's san francisco affiliates april 12, 2012 report on tv about the death wobble-both reporters also personally experienced the same incident. (3) a follow- up report on july 5, 2012 by abc in san francisco that states that there are over 600 reports on this incident. (4) chrysler's issuance of a technical service bulletin 19-002-12 to help dealers work on the steering/wobble problem. this is a manufacturing defect that relates to the suspension.

I have only owned my certified pre-owned jeep wrangler since may 7th, 2013. i bought it with 12,xxx miles on it. so i have owned it one month & six days total & is still under warranty. i was driving down a paved road when i applied my brakes to stop at a stop sign & herd a crunch noise & my front left dropped down. i pulled over to the side of the road about 5 feet & could not notice anything. i then called tri-city dodge & they told me to get on the ground & look up under & that's when i noticed my front control arm on the left was hanging down. i was told to have it towed to them by a.c. provos. the towing company dropped me & jeep off at tri-city dodge. the service man. then came out to tell me that the part was not warrantied because it had been impacted. i explained that i had not hit anything that i was just driving down the road. he then showed me how it was all rusted but you could not see any impact. i then said that it looks like a bad rusted part & he then explained that could not be possible that it had to be impacted. now if it was impacted, it would have taken out the tie rode which was still intact with no scratches. there were also no scratches on the bracket or anywhere else under the jeep. i was then told to call the dealership where i got it from & that tri-city dodge believed it to have been impacted before i bought it because the broken bracket was all rusted out & i had not owned it long enough for that kind of rust. photos were taken by tri-city. i then called up bournival jeep in portsmouth, nh. i explained to the service man. & i was told it was not their problem. i explained how it was all rusted & i have never been in an accident. this should be recalled for rusting out. i have looked up online & have found many complaints about others with same situation & have never been in accident before & jeep was telling them it had to been impacted. *tr

Recently purchased a preowned 2010 jeep wrangler,that had almost 38000 miles on it, now has almost 41000 miles. last week airbag light started intermittently coming on going off.i scheduled an appointment with the local dealer for a diagnosis and before the scheduled appointment called to filed a complaint. they said take to dealer let them scan for trouble codes. i did this the dealer scanned it and said it did show a code. however the code was inconclusive and to further diagnose would have take steering wheel off airbag out and clockspring out to diagnose properly (about 2.5 hours to be exact worth of labor i had to pay for.) i told them not to take it apart that i would call jeep first and plead my case. jeep told me that's what had to be done for them to determine if they would do anything about it. now for good part, the suspect failed part is the clockspring under the steering wheel that makes an electrical connection between the wheel and the dash, also the airbag. the part is on a national backorder. hmmm. i've owned many other cars with airbags and never have had one fail period. this car is 4000 miles out of warranty and does not have a functioning safety system. kind of important in a car with a soft top don't you think? Just bought the used jeep. pops out of 1st gear regularly (did it the first night i drove it home), so hard it forces the jeep forward and feels like someone rear-ended me. i've nearly been rear-ended multiple times because pulling out at a parking lot or red light and folks behind me keep going and have to stop on a dime while i scramble to get it back into 1st gear. it now happens about 5 times a week. took it to the dealership but they can't "replicate it" so it just keeps happening. there are multiple forums and websites online where folks have similar problems with 1st gear but chrysler won't issue a recall. *tr

Owner reports: unexplained vehicle fire under normal driving conditions in a city road. (35-45 mph) 2010 jeep wrangler while moving, owner/driver noticed smoke coming out from the sides, front and inside cabin area, and the permeating smell of burning plastic and vehicle fluid(s). immediately, the power-steering system lost functionality while owner tried to pull-over to the shoulder of the road. the vehicle failed to maneuver properly and with ease. without any prior warning from vehicle the engine compartment area suddenly caught on fire while vehicle was still moving. visible fire flames ensued from the hood area. owner immediately stopped, turned off ignition and proceeded to use a fire extinguisher. that, when owner arrived at front of vehicle, he saw flames protruding from under the hood. owner proceeded to open hood to fight fire with his own fire extinguisher . owner had to, immediately, jump-back because hot oil/fluids (power steering, transmission coolant fluid) was gushing out in massive amounts. despite owner's attempt to extinguish flames, the engine’s compartment area, kept burning up since an uncertain vehicle oil/fluid kept feeding the fire. (not gasoline) by now, electrical sparks “were flying” on burned out wires. owner was sternly advised to retreat by police officers. fire dept arrived and finally put out fire. note: prior to this fire, no vehicle trouble was present, nor evident. dashboard instruments did not indicate to “check engine. the “temperature gauge” was within normal range. no audible alarms or vehicle warnings were heard. vehicle worked fine before incident. the dealer's maintenance records will show service performed 2 months before this incident. vehicle was never involved in any type of car crash or accident. chrysler group has claimed; "no indication of a manufacturing defect" -can nhsta please investigate this matter?

When performing a left hand turn while accelerating away from a stop my air bag warning light and associated chime came on. while driving in a straight line with the wheel centered the light stayed locked in, during a sweeping right hand turn the air bag warning light extinguished. this pattern continued until i returned home and checked that the steering wheel position was in fact the cause of the air bag warning light and associated chime. any steering wheel position left of center would immediately cause the light and chime and any position right of center of would extinguish the light within 10 seconds. i knew at this point that the steering wheel clock spring wiring assembly was faulty and scheduled a dealership appointment for verification and repair. dealership performed a troublecode check and received dtc: b1b02-driver airbag squib 1 circuit open. dealership further confirmed by cycling the steering wheel and code went from active to stored. the clock spring was replaced and retested similarly to my above steering wheel position check and no more lights, chimes, or trouble codes were expressed. faulty clockspring ribbon wire assemblies are a recurring quality and safety issue with chrysler vehicles and jeep wrangler jk's specifically. per this website, actions have been taken to recall 2008-2012 rhd jk's and a customer satisfaction warranty extension has been issued for 2007 lhd jk's of 10 years, 150000 miles. this is most certainly a safety issue as a faulty clock spring can result in the driver side airbag not deploying in an accident if the proper conditions are met, and depending upon the nature of the fault in the clockspring the esc system can also malfunction due to the lack of steering input signal to the system. further investigation for all affected makes, models, and model years, must be completed in the interest of public safety. *tr

Death wobble. car shakes violenmtly when hitting bump on interstate at 50-70 mph. have to slow down drastically to stop it. afraid someone willl hit me from behind. *tr

The gas tank overflowed immensely. this occurs every time when filling the tank, no matter what we do. i am having the tank replaced, but am concerned for safety reasons. *tr

I purchased my new 2010 jeep wrangler sport unlimited on march 02, 2011 with 4,839 miles on it. the vehicles manufacturer warranty became effective on march 02, 2011 and extended to 40,839 miles. i returned the vehicle for service for the same front end problems (vibration, play in front end, etc - though described slightly different on some work orders) eight (8) times from october 13, 2011 through june 13, 2012. during that time there were four (4) service attempts to repair the problem 10/13/11 mileage 13,411 - 6/13/12 mileage 23,352 - services recommended and performed range from tire rotation, tie rods and damper replaced, toe adjustment, and lower shearing shaft replacement. 3/07/13 mileage 34,829 - i brought the vehicle in for routine nc inspection. inspection passed. 3/09/13 as i traveled out of town with my children we experienced a frightening and stressful time. when driving at highway, or near highway speeds, and going over a bump the front end would begin, at random times, to have so much play and the steering would shake violently making it difficult to control the vehicle. this caused me to have to slow to the side and pull off the road. this repair issue has now escalated to the point that it is a dangerous safety hazard to my children and myself. since this incident i have discovered this a known problem with the year, make, and model of my vehicle. below you will find two links to videos demonstrating the violent shaking which occurs due to this problem. one is a perspective from outside the vehicle. the other is from inside the vehicle. though the gentleman in the video seems to enjoy the violent shaking i assure you it was simply a terrifying experience for a mother traveling out of town alone with her children. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwiv23dlhmy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gupyhm1pccy. *tr

Gas pours out of gas tank every time i fill up. *tr

When refueling, the pump handle clicks off at the appropriate time the tank should be full. however when you pull the pump handle out of the filler neck, the fuel continues to flow as if it were not shut off. this overflow causes fuel to spew out of the filler neck on the car and surrounding area. *tr

Fuel spit back during refueling. this has happened on multiple occassions now. worried about potential fire hazard. chrysler/jeep has not yet issued a warranty extension for this model year eventhough incidents are consistent with the same reported issue in 2007-2008 jeep wrangler jks for which a warranty extension was issued. *tr

In approx nov of 2012 i started having problems with fuel overflowing on ground/feet when filling gas tank. there would be a quart or better of fuel that would spill. after the fourth occurance i had dealership check it out while in for routine oil change. on february 6, 2013, i was advised that the vent had failed on the gas tank and the gas tank needed to be replaced. unfortunately, there is a minimun three week back order on jeep gas tanks from chrysler. dealership told me they are seeing a high number of filler neck and tank failures, causing the delay in obtaining parts. i was told this is not a recall, but i am still covered under warranty. now jeep feels like it is going to stall while idiling. dealership advised this is probably related to the gas tank not venting. *tr

When you hit speeds of 55 mph or above and hit a small bump, my jeep starts to shake. took it in to jeep and they stated that is is called the "death wobble." correct term in the winter, in snow and in a jeep. third time in the jeep dealership and the only change has been the steering stabilizer without success. *tr

While driving at 65 mph, my jeep started shaking uncontrollably and violently. i had no control in the car, the only thing i could do was push the brakes. i pulled my 6 speed jeep into neutral and started slowing down and letting it glide to the side of the road. still shaking as i am slowing down, the jeep feels like the whole front end is going to shake apart. all cars behind me slammed on their brakes because they saw i had no control of my jeep. a state police trooper followed me to the dealership. there is no broken axles, loose tires, tire pressure is good. they said they could not find anything in the "express service center". this is a 2010 wrangler with 75,000 miles that is driven on the highway daily for educational purposes. there must be something done about this "death wobble". *tr

When filling up gas tank, i set the pump to automatically shut off. upon shutting off, a significant amount of gas spewed out down the side of vehicle and onto the ground. this has happened every time i have filled up since. i have tried different gas pumps and station and it has continued to happen every time i have filled up. *tr

Bought a certified used vehicle from fairfield dodge, crysler, jeep in muncy , pa and in 4 months of owning this vehicle it had a recall on the transmission skid plate, engine light on due to broken sensor, in need of four brake rotors and brake pads. they stated that when they serviced the vehicle when they purchased it that the rotors were cut for the last time when they certified the vehicle for sale on the lot. and now four months later it needs $1,200.00 worth of repairs. they state that the esim was broken by me or someone that was under the hood and that i would have to pay for the parts but not the labor the same with the brakes. i feel that this vehicle should have never been front line ready or even certified with all these issues, they are very, very poor representitives of your brand. i did not buy a jeep to have major problems within four months of purchase. then when i arrived the day of service they no longer had my recall part they put it on another vehicle that came in before mine. i live two hours away from the dealership and they failed to do there job. *tr

While filling up my gas tank i set the pump's trigger mechanism that allows for continuous flow. prior to the automatic stopping of the pump a substantial amount of gasoline spewed out from the tank. this resulted in a trail of gasoline from my tank down the side of my vehicle and ultimately a large puddle of gasoline on the pavement. *tr

Every time i fill my vehicle up with gas the pump shuts off and then the vehicle spews gas out of the fill tube. this has happened at every pump i have used at multiple gas stations. i have tried different angles and it does not help. the last time it happened gas got all over my hands and all over the vehicle. i am concerned about the paint wearing away as well as the potential safety issue of having gas under the vehicle. a significant amount comes out of the fill tube when this happens. i have seen multiple reports of this happening on different forums. it looks like a warranty was extended for 2007 and 2008 models, but not 2010's. *tr

While driving on a pasture the fuel line in our 2010 automatic jeep wrangler unlimited became detached from the clip that holds it in the automatic transmission (according to the dealer). the plastic part in the fuel line melted when it became in contact with part of the hot exhaust system. the jeep stop running and a small fire started beneath the jeep on the grass . we pushed the vehicle out of the way and put the fire out . there was no fire damage to the jeep. the jeep was repaired at labelle dodge/chrysler-jeep, inc. ph: 1-800-226-1193 invoice no. Every time i've filled up the gas tank, no matter if i do it automatic setting or manual with the lowest setting pressure while pumping. the gas overflows every time. i've tried several gas pumps, adjusted the setting of the pump inside the tank, it still overflows every time. i spoke with the dealership of this issue and they said that my 2010 year model was not covered for the recall when i've heard from fellow owners of the 2010 model having the same problem but they just opt to not fill up the tank while pumping and just stop midway. *tr

When i fill up my car gas spills out at the end. it started a couple of months after i bought it but then it stopped. the last month it has gotten extremely worse. i saw that later model jeeps had this problem and that there was a recall. mine was doing exactly the same as the recall vehicles, but i was told that i was not eligible for the recall and would have to pay for the replacement tank. i had an extended warranty, but i do not feel that i should have to pay a dime for a continued part problem. *tr

On the 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes and chimes while turning the steering wheel while in a forward driving motion. it is an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. this has been a recurring issue and concern for many jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. owners from all wrangler models from 2007 - 2010 have reported this issue. many of the 2007 models have received recall notices from the dealer, as well as right hand drive models. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2007 - 2010 jeep wrangler's (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. daimler chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring for the 2010 model, that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. *tr

I was driving vehicle on major highway at approx. 60 mph when i hit a couple bumps in the road, the vehicle steering wheel starting shimming very hard, the vehicle starting wobbling out of control, had to bring the vehicle to a complete stop to get the wobbling and shaking to stop. took vehicle to the dealership where i purchased it they told me the steering dampener was bad and they replaced it. the second time this happened was approx. 05/02/12 with 26,014 miles exact same thing happened, took vehicle back to dealership and was told again steering dampener was bad and they replaced it,this time the dealership service manager told me that this has been going on for a while with jeeps and was called the "death wobble". again approx.07/31/12 with 31,306 miles this uncontrollable wobble happened again,back to the dealership, called jeep case management, they told me the dealership would have to find out what was making the dampners go out, the dealership replaced the dampener and front trac bar,re-aligned the front end. i have now opened a new case with jeep management again for the exact problem, 10/15/12 the vehicle is back at the dealership with 33,900 miles with same problem. jeep case management says they are going to replace the tires to see if that's the problem now,but refuses to pay for the tires,claiming they don't make the tires, even though if now the tires are part of the problem of their front end parts being bad causing damage to the tires. this is an ongoing problem that the national transportation safety department needs to force chrysler into a recall to fix this problem before anyone else has an accident or dies from. chrysler is not fixing the problem, they just change the parts out until your warranty expires, chrysler should inform buyers of this problem before it is purchased. this vehicle is all stock parts, not oversized tires or lifted. *tr

Main issue - driving down the road hit a bump/uneven patch of road and the car shimmers/jerks/wobbles back and forth providing a feeling of losing control of the vehicle. honestly, i have noticed the shimmering/wobbling/jerking since the first bump i went over with the jeep wrangler. i thought this was normal for jeep as this is my first jeep wrangler i have owned. i even went as far as to remove the original tires (more off road) and get all around tires recommended by the jeep dealer per my private car maintenance specialist. this still did not help. i have this uneasiness when driving the jeep. i have learned to brace myself when i notice rough/uneven road ahead. while traveling northern michigan (i-75) i hit a bump in the road (the road was partially covered with snow), the jeep jerked/shimmered - i spun out of control said a few prayers and was able to bring the jeep back under control without flipping. i sat on the side of the freeway for almost a half hour before i had the courage to continue my journey. my younger adult children and husband do not like to drive my jeep because of this wobble/jerky experience after a bump/even road. they don't feel safe. something needs to be done to correct this problem, before someone is injured or killed. *tr

2010 jeep wrangler. consumer states problem with busted boot and vibration while driving which worsens as speed increases. *tgw the consumer stated he took the vehicle to the dealer four times, with no resolution. the dealer replaced the drive shaft, input shaft, torque convertor and a worn drum. *jb

This jeep has never been used for any type of off roading, yet it has a burnt smell coming from the transmission. it was taken to the dealer where it was checked however they could not determine what was causing the burnt smell and smoke coming from the transmission. it has now been checked a couple of times, where only an transmission oil change was performed because they never found out the problem. i can only hope i do not become a statistic, before the problem is found. *tr

While driving down the highway i hit a bump and experienced the "death wobble" where your car shakes out of control and you have to come to a complete stop to make the front end stop shaking. i have taken my jeep into have this fixed more than once. they claim they had to call the cooperate office because they didn't know anything about the "death wobble" they said they fixed it and then about a month later did the same thing. i'm not the only person complaining of this problem. i've read online plenty of accidents where people have almost flipped their jeeps because of this problem. *tr

Every time i fill my wrangler with fuel, the tank overflows after the click, sometimes spilling as much as a 1/2 gallon of fuel on the side of the vehicle and all over the ground. it does not matter if i slow down to a trickle. as soon as i hear the click, gas goes everywhere. i am genuinly concerned about the safety hazard as this happens each time i fill up. *js

After traversing a national forest service road leaves collected between the transmission skid plate and the exhaust system. while driving at interstate speeds i was flagged down by another car to inform me that sparks were coming from under my jeep. luckily this was at night when the sparks could be seen. i stopped the vehicle and immediately discharged my fire extinguisher on the leaves. this only slowed the fire... cold water from a ice chest finally fully extinguished the fire. the debris was removed and the area was inspected with no damage noted. i was able to continue on my trip. *tr

The recent recall by jeep on the 2010 wranglers does not fit the situations that have been occurring. several owners have experienced spontaneous fires, and were not in any off-road situation that could have cause debris to collect on or near the catalytic converter. they were simply driving home from work, or on the highway. one owner, who contacted me, had 16 miles on it (2012 model), and had just picked it up from the dealership. it caught on fire on his way home. another owner had 600 miles on it (another 2012 model) and it was sitting in front of his home. numerous have not been on the 2010 models either. the debris that "collected" under my vehicle was not burned up in the fire, and not even in that same location. i believe that this "recall" is jeep's attempt to bandage a larger issue they are hiding from the public. video from my fire clearly shows a liquid (tranny fluid or fuel) pouring from the vehicle from the very beginning of the fire. my feeling is that it's a tranny cooler overflow problem, or a bad fuel line connection. here is a link to the facebook page that i created for others to post their experiences. https://www.facebook.com/jeepwranglersthatcaughtonfire. *tr

Around 1,500 miles my brand new 2010 jeep wrangler "sport" with a 6 speed manual transmission popped out of 1st gear very violently - thought i had hit something. about every 100 miles or so after that incident, it will pop out of 1st gear into neutral - or - grind gears. it was happening so often, i contacted my dealer who told me it wasn't "a problem of chrysler" maybe i wasn't driving it correctly. i started to "push" it into 1st gear with more attention, holding my hand on the shifter, this seemed to work okay, until one day, after i pushed it into 1st gear, it popped out so hard it almost broke my wrist! it seems to pop out of 1st several times a week now, driving around town (stop and go traffic); once it popped out of 1st so hard it went right into 2nd gear! its extra scary when it happens at a red light intersection and when i start to proceed, it will pop out leaving me without power in the middle of the intersection, with people behind me - i have to quickly throw it into 2nd because it won't go back into 1st. i have 23,000 miles on my jeep now. i can confidently say it has happened over a 1,000 times!! i have started to "feel" when it might happen, while my hand is on the shifter, it seems to start to wobble - as if something isn't connected right. i have tried pulling it out of 1st gear when i stop, re-shift into 2nd gear/1st gear - doesn't fix it. i have tried to baby it, shifting softer, and even rev the engine and "peel" out - it doesn't matter, it happens no matter what i do. i'm taking it to a different dealer this afternoon, maybe they will listen to my plight. i will happily testify to a grand jury that this is a major problem with the 2010 jeep wrangler 6 speed manual transmission. *tr

When driving the 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited sport at 40mph and hit a bump the jeep vibrates and makes you feel like you are losing control of the car. the only way to stop this is to hit the brakes and hope that you do not have to steer the car since you cannot when this occurs. i called the dealership and they had a name for this problem which is "death wobble". i also noticed that my tires wear much quicker in the front then the rear of the jeep. *tr

I tried to stop at a traffic light. i had about 150 to 200 feet to the back of the next vehicle. i was traveling about 40 mph. i depressed the brake pedal, it went all the way to the floor and the brakes were pulsating. the vehicle would not stop and i release and pressed the brakes again. the vehicle never stopped and continued to hit the vehicle in front of me. the police would not let me drive it away from the scene, the dealer insisted that i pay a tow truck to bring it back to the dealer and after the second day i have no transportation or any hope of any? i want to know what failed, can or will they fix it and what can i do to get to work now? i bought it new in oct 2010 and it has 35286 miles on it. well within warrenty.

My 2010 jeep was parked but running when a friend yelled that my car was on fire so i got out and looked and flames were shooting out of the grill and coming out of the wheel well, within 2 min the whole jeep was in flames and was a total loss, the fire department responded but was too late, the insurance company said it most likely came from the transmission or engine as there was problems reported lately. *js

Attempted to stop at a traffic light and the brakes would not work. brake pedal went all the way to the floor but nothing happened. tried pumping but nothing. ended up running the red light and was not able to get it to stop until i had crossed through all the lanes to the other side. brakes started working after crossing the street and continued to work until taken back to jeep service. they replaced the master cylinder and brake fluid. found internal failure of brake master cylinder, installed new one and bleed master cylinder. evidently there was a recall on the 2010 master cylinders but my jeep did not receive a recall notice. how do i know that the master cylinder was replaced with a new type and not the same style master cylinder that failed. *js *tr

The 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited had been driven approximately 15 miles in stop and go traffic and for the ten minutes prior to the stop at the convenience store had been driven at highway speeds. the driver stopped at a convenience store for 5 minutes, pulled out of the parking lot, and approximately 2 minutes later the jeep had flames shooting out from underneath the vehicle. the driver was able to get into an empty parking lot before the power steering failed and attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher with no success. the jeep was a complete loss at approximately 3000 miles. the only unusual behavior noted before the fire was that the vehicle stalled when put into reverse on 2 occasions. the jeep was scheduled to go back to the dealer to investigate this problem but then burned to the ground. investigation from the chrysler rep and the insurance rep determined that the cause of the fire was due to "debris around the transmission". *tr

Fuel overflow when getting gas at the pump. auto-off does not click off but also, when fueling manually, pump does not click off when tank is full. also, the angle of the gas pump nozzle seems to affect severity of problem. this problem started back in january of 2012. had the jeep for 8 months with no problems.

Fuel spills out of the tank when refueling at a gas station. if i fill up the tank, letting the gas pump shut off when it wants to, about a cup of fuel comes back out of the gas tank. i am not topping off the tank. *tr

The first incident, which occurred in march 2011, two (2) valve stems developed air leaks due to rust. they were replaced by the dealership under warranty. the second incident happened on march 21, 2011, one (1) valve stem developed an air leak caused by a crack in the valve stem. the stem was replaced by a jeep dealership again under warranty. the new valve stem has a black rubber coating where as the other 4 stems do not.. the vehicle has only 17200 miles and my fear is that my wife or myself maybe driving on the highway and another valve stem fails causing a blowout and then a serious accident maybe causing serious injury or death. i have spoken to the dealership and to jeep customer service at an 800 number but they say nothing will be done to replace the 4 valve stems that do not have a rubber coating. it is obvious to me that there have been issues in the past, that the valve stems are being made differently now. please investigate before there is a serious injury or death. *tr

Tipm is creating a major safety issue with my 2010 jeep wrangler. on multiple occasions, the headlights fail to work on my vehicle on start up or once the vehicle is in operation. the dealership looked at the jeep and stated the tipm module was bad and needed to be replaced. the part was indefinitely on backorder from jeep, and could not even be replaced if it were under warranty. driving this vehicle that is under 2 years old and has a major safety issue is unacceptable. this appears to be a wide spread issue for a number of years with the tipm module on jeep / chrysler vehicles. this will happen to someone while driving at night without their knowledge, and create a deadly event. would like to see chrysler take responsibility for this dangerous situation and correct the issue to protect the safety of the missions of people driving their vehicles. *tr

For the past month, after driving for approximately a half an hour or so, i have noticed white smoke coming from the engine compartment sometimes when i stop completely at a stop sign or red light. i have noticed this at least eight or nine times. i do take long trips and it is my daily vehicle and now that i have heard about some 2010 jeep wrangler models experiencing vehicle fires, i wanted to see if there is anything i can do to ensure my family and i's safety as we travel. i appreciate your time in this endeavor and look forward to hearing back from you. *tr

When refueling fuel spills out of filling port on vehicle. fuel spurts out potentially onto person refueling vehicle or onto vehicle and ground. this has happened on multiple occasions during different temperatures and refueling conditions. this has also happened at multiple gas stations. *tr

When filling the tank gas spills out when the handle stops flow at the full tank level. it doesn't matter if you fill the tank slowly or even decrease the gas flow to the point just before the handle shuts off. it still overflows. i have read in forums that this is a common problem with jeep jk models, possibly a defect with the tank check valve or the overflow drain line. the tsb's i've read only indicate a free dealer warranty fix for the 07 and 08 models but reports continue the be noted for '09 and '10 models as well. this safety hazard must be addressed. *tr

Every time i go to fill up my car with gas, i get a over spill of gas that shoots out of my car about 2 inches away from my car. and also along the side of my car. it's a dangerous situation. *tr

When pumping fuel into the 2010 wrangler unlimited instead of the pump cutting off it spews gas out of the tank. thinking it may be a pump failure i ignored. this problem has happened at every gas pump i go to. you can pump gas very slowly into the tank and when you think you are getting near release, but this does not fix the underlying problem with the gas tank. this is a safety hazard which could lead to potential fire issues, along with eroding paint. i have to get a car wash whenever this happens. the gas gets on my clothes and shoes. this problem also affects my job. the are numerous videos on you tube detailing this problem. *tr

2010 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited: i recently took my jeep to the dealership to attend to another recall and check out some problems - overflowing gas tank, squealing brakes, rough idle in traffic, increasingly rough and loud ride. i purchased my jeep new 18 months ago and it now has approximately 22k miles. they replaced the gas tank which i now understand is a common issue on the 2010 rubicons. they told me i needed to replace both rotors which are no longer covered under warranty due to debris getting caught between the brake pad and rotor on both rear brakes. and, they explained the loud/rough ride was from the uneven wear on my front tires. the tread on my front tires showed severe cupping. the tech said it was from not rotating my tires often enough and this is a common problem on jeeps since the front has more "play" and the rear is more "solid". he said there was nothing wrong with my jeep. i questioned whether the significant uneven wear was acceptable after only 22k miles. he offered no other solution other than rotating the damaged tires to the back and wait for them to wear evenly. my concern was rotating the tires would just create issue with my other two tires as well. he said it's just normal and i'd need to replace all of my tires soon anyway. with the age of the vehicle being only 18 months with 22k miles, i question if this issue is not related to my suspension. *kb

2010 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited: roughly 10 months into owning my new jeep i noticed the brakes were squealing. this was not noticeable with the top on and music playing so i'm not sure how long they had been making the noise. i asked my husband to take a look and he said he couldn't replicate the squealing. we found it did not always make the noise when i braked. i took my jeep to the dealership for a recall and mentioned the squealing. they said pollen or other small particles could settle in them and cause a temporary squeak. again, with the top on and music playing i didn't hear it. recently i was driving downtown with my windows down and could hear the shrill squeal everytime i hit a light. having another recall to attend to and an overflowing gas tank issue to address, i decided to have the dealership look at the brakes. i had also notice the ride had gotten much rougher and the idle felt shaky when sitting in traffic. the technician explained he believed there was debris between my brake pad and my rotor which caused significant pitting in the rotor. the pitting was so bad they could not resurface it, but it would need to be replaced. my husband questioned the likelihood for something to get lodged between the brake pad and the rotor and the technician agreed it was uncommon. the problem, however, was they said the same phenomenon occurred on both rear brakes. both? since the warranty only addressed the brakes in the first year / 12k miles, he explained this was not covered and i would need both rotors replaced at full cost. *kb

2010 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited: while refueling my vehicle i engaged the handle to continue fueling while i went inside the gas station. when i returned, the pump had disengaged, but there was fuel all over the side of my jeep and on the ground. my fuel gauge registered full and this had never happened so i thought the fuel pump may have been faulty. my next trip to the gas station, i monitored it more closely and was able to refuel as normal confirming my original thought that the pump had malfunctioned. during my next attempt to refuel i had again engaged the handle to continue fueling as i sat inside the vehicle. i heard the thunk of the automatic shut off and saw again the gas had sprayed all over the side of my jeep and on the ground. this was not the same gas station as the original occurrence so i believed the problem was actually my gas tank. i took my jeep to the dealership where they replaced my gas tank without explanation. at this point i had approximately 22k miles on my jeep. i purchased my jeep new in august 2010 with 154 miles on it. i have owned it for 18 months and it has approximately 22k miles on it. *kb

Gas tank overfill issue. during fill ups the pump will shut off automatically as intended. within seconds a quantity of gas will surge from the filler neck and leak down the side. the quantity is a significant amount. per my records from previous fill ups (where this is not an issue) no significant change in quantity of gas or mileage driven has occurred. attempts to limit the problem by filling up at 1/2 tank did not help. slowing the fill rate does not help most of the time. *tr

Our daughter's 2010 jeep wrangler caught on fire just as she had parked it in her underground parking garage. she was sitting in the car, listening to the end of a song, when smoke started pouring out of the hood of the car. then is burst into flames. she jumped out and ran out of the garage and then called the fire department and us. she had only owned the car for a little over three months and bought it from hampton imports near destin, florida. state farm investigated, as well as the fire department. neither could find a cause. i called chrysler, because i had read that china was no longer allowing the wrangler in their country due to fire concerns. they did investigate and found no cause. i wrote a follow-up letter to the chrysler director of customer relations, asking if they were investigating the safety of all of their jeep wranglers and they never replied to the letter. *tr

The passenger seat on the jeep does not lock in place, when you try to enter the back seat. the passenger normally will grab hold of the seat on entry, or exit of the jeep. it is ustable and slides and causes the passenger to fall or stumble out of rear seat. it needs to be able to move forward and lock. *kb

Driving on i10 west bound from phoenix to california when there was a loud explosion under the feet on the drivers side. pulled over to see what it was and saw flames. tried to put out with a fire extinguisher without success. tried a second extinguisher with the same results. got 90% of my stuff out of the vehicle. it was lifted, with skip plates, winch. total loss. no warning lights, sounds or any indication that something was wrong. *tt

The vin provided above is the last 8 digits. this was a rental car from national rental car. the jeep wrangler we rented had a contitrac at tire in the left rear position; all other tires, including spare on back were goodyear wrangler tires. the contitrac at tire suffered an explosive blowout, causing the vehicle to spin out of control. the entire tread blew off the tire carcass, and the explosive force caused the left rear fender to blow off the car. there was tire shrapnel all over the road (highway 17 southbound in arizona, near jerome state park), causing considerable danger to all vehicles on the road. we were able to gain control of the out-of-control vehicle and pull to the side of the road. we changed the tire and continued with our trip. national rental car is aware of this situation, which caused $1,783.55 of damage to their vehicle. we were obviously held not liable, and are lucky to be alive.

On 9-2-211 was driving home and smelt something burning. pulled over and noticed smoke coming from under the hood. upon opening hood quickly realized it was on fire. in less than 10 minutes the entire jeep was in flames causing total destruction of vehicle. i bought this vehicle brand new and it had never been wrecked or in the shop for eeed repairs. *tr

Letter re the problems experienced with a 2010 jeep wrangler feels that vehicle falls under the new car lemon law (entire package not imaged, forwarded to nvs-200) *tgw the consumer stated there have been repeated attempts to repair the vehicle. however, the vehicle remains defective. the consumer stated the vehicle was running sluggish and burning oil, but no leaks were found. the problem went on for several months. the consumer believed the engine was defective, but the dealer would not approve a new engine, so they kept replacing parts. the vehicle was eventually returned to the consumer, with the same problem. the dealer checked the engine again, and discovered it was burning 1 quart of oil per hour and it was determined the engine needed to be replaced. the hard top was leaking and ruined the carpet. the starter was defective. also the transmission was exhibiting a burning smell, it would slip and wouldn't go into gear and the fluid was no longer the correct color. also, the temperature gauge rose just under the overheating point. the radiator cooling fan was defective. also, there was a grinding noise coming from the transfer case. *jb

Was 4 wheeling and smell fuel out of the right side rear. dealer installed o ring: fuel pump and level. installed new fuel tank. 07/01/2011 smelled fuel coming from right rear. dealer did smoke test and found leak at the evap canister installed new vent canister. 08/04/2011. still smell fuel from right rear, dealer did smoke test found no leaks, but could smell fuel vapor in right rear. stated that when off rode fuel moves more in the tank and that the jeep is safe, and no fix at this time. how can this be true??. if i would strike a match it would explode and life could be lost.

On 6/17/2011 we had our 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon on an off-road trail in 2wd. the trail can be described as mild terrain not requiring 4wd for any part of the trail. approximately 2 miles in we heard a loud noise, stopped the vehicle and discovered that the front axle housing was cracked. chrysler's roadside assistance would not recover teh vehicle from the trail so we got it to a maintained road. several days later we had the vehicle towed to our jeep dealer for inspection. warranty work was denied on the broken axle housing due to chrysler's determination that we teh failure occurred due to extreme off-roading. verbally we were also told that we were not using the vehicle for its intended purpose. we submitted photos and narratives of similiar incidents (front axle housing breaks during during mild off-road driving, and one instance of hitting a curb with the tires). these were regarded as incidents of extreme off-roading as well. since the breakage occurred after several miles of travel on maintained highway, and then approximately 15 miles on mild off-road trails that did not require 4wd we will replace the entire axle with an aftermarket product that is similiar in cost. our concern is that as we research online we are finding similiar incidents under similiar conditions - front axle housing breaks in the same location when the vehicle is under only slghtly higher than normal driving conditions on 2007-2010 jeep wrangler jk unlimited rubicons. rubicons have an upgraded suspension system for off-road use comapred to other models and feature a "trail rated" badge on the vehicle, but light off-road use caused failure in our vehicle. *tt

In april 2011, my jeep went in for service at herb chambers. there were safety recalls that needed to be fixed and i expressed my concern to the service associate about my parking brake being loose and not properly adjusted. when i returned to the dealership the diagnosis i received from the service associate was that a massachusetts registered safety inspector examined my parking brake and it was functioning properly. in may 2011, approximately a month after my vehicle was in for service, i parked my vehicle in its parking spot at my house and when i returned to my vehicle five minutes later it had rolled into the woods. when the jeep rolled into the woods it hit three trees resulting in the rear passenger side fender ripping off. when i contacted customer service at jeep they stated i needed to file a claim through my insurance company and there was nothing they could assist me with. a claim was filed through my insurance company and chrysler company. currently the jeep is being repaired through my insurance company. i feel that once the body work is complete on my jeep the mechanical parts of the jeep will still be defective. i am concerned that the parking brake will fail again and could significantly damage property or a bystander. chrysler sent out a private contractor, hank sullivan, who inspected the parking brake. when requested to be on site of his investigation of my vehicle my requested was denied. once his investigation was complete i requested paperwork to verify he examined my vehicle and for a copy of the results for my own file, that request was also denied. approximately a month later, i am still awaiting a letter from chrysler with details from hank¿s investigation. i received a phone call from chrysler stating that they found nothing wrong with my vehicle. i feel that i have been discriminated against due to my age i left several messages for the special claims department at chrysler and never received a phone call back. only once i got one back. *tr

With increasing frequency, my jeep jumps out of first gear while accelerating away from a stop. even with my hand on the shift lever, holding my vehicle in first gear, it will at times jump out of gear with a violent metal-on-metal collision sound. several times this has happened when crossing or joining traffic at an intersection, and is very dangerous.

When filling up with gas, it does not shut off when full. it shoots fuel up and out of the filler tube soaking the side of the jeep, the bumper, the fuel filler wand, and anyone standing close. this is a serious issue. it happens every time filling to full. *tr

I drove my 2010 jeep wrangler sahara unlimited through water that was sitting in a pasture that had been shredded. 30 minutes later my car was on fire. the design of the skid plate allowed the grass that was floating on the water to be pushed under the skid plate and around the catalytic converter, within 30 minutes the grass dried and caught on fire. i had 3 kids in the car on our way back from a rodeo and ended up watching my jeep burn at 1:00 in the morning. chrysler will not take any responsibility for this and has denied my claim. the back skid plate has a lip that dips down and allows the possibility of debris to be sucked up around the catalytic converter. the gas line and the transmission are right next to the catalytic converter which is dangerous. my car was a total loss luckily we were all got out of the car without injury, i do plan on making sure this danger is known since chrysler will not take responsibility for their design flaw. *tr

The fuel tank overflows when doing fill up every time. it happens at all gas stations and i never try to "top off" the tank. i do not want a fire, so my concern is for more than my ruined shoes and deteriorating paint near the tank. i have read of many others who have had this issue and is yet unresolved. *tr

I was driving and ask of a sudden my airbag light came on. i could hear a clank/clunk in steering column. also horn nor cruise control would work. dealership replaced the clockspring the next day. no reason why. just stated they go out. mine went out at 20xxx miles!!! no recall!! *tr

On april 16th, 2011 several of us decided to do a mild 4-wheel drive trip to a local waterfall. i was driving a 2010 jeep wrangler rubicon in 4x4 low on a dirt road. we reached our destination and the vehicle in front of us stopped and everyone got out and started to gather their stuff from the rear of their jeep. i stopped roughly 10 ft behind the first vehicle on a slight incline (10% angle) downwards towards the first vehicle, put my jeep (auto transmission) into park, and took out the key. we exited my jeep and started walking towards the first jeep as i approached my front tire, the jeep started to move forward and it made a ratcheting noise from the transmission. the type of noise that is made when one would put a moving vehicle into park. my jeep crashed into the tailgate of the first jeep almost crushing my friend. fortunately my jeep hit the tailgate of the first jeep at a 90 degree angle and the door withheld the force of my jeep crashing into his jeep. took the jeep to the dealership and they said they could not replicate the problem and they would not attempt to fix the jeep. i drove the jeep home and was able to replicate the problem in about 5 minutes, and was able to reproduce it consistently in another 45 minutes to an hour.. i created a video of the transmission failing and sent it to the jeep dealership. i was able to replicate the failure by stopping on a hill with a pretty good angle and cycle through these actions: put foot on brake, put jeep in drive, drive 2 inches, put foot on brake, put jeep in park, and release brake. at this time the dealership has sent the video to corporate and awaiting direction. no corrective action has been performed. *tr

Fuel spills out of the filler port during the refueling process. this condition generally occurs when the fuel tank is filled to the full or nearly full level and the gas pump automatically shuts or clicks off. the fuel splashes on the person fueling the car, the car itself, and onto the ground. this happens repeatedly, not just a single occurrence. *tr

Unidentified noise from transmission. dealer found broken spring on clutch plate. chrysler refuses to acknowledge problem. only indicating that the clutch is a "wearable part". dealership indicates could have caused catastrophic failure of transmission resulting in loss of control of vehicle. checked with 7 other dealerships and no one has seen this same problem in their shops. *tr

Jeep 2010 wrangler unlimited manual transmission pops out of first gear when engaging from stop . the issue is random and thus dealerships and chrsyler represtatives will no help since they say they can't reproduce issue. vehicle has been taken to several dealerships and i notified chrysler. the issue has been documented in tsb 21-001-10 and has gone back to model yr 2007 and still no permanent solution. i had to show dealership and chrysler tsb before they would even acknowledge issue. consequences are life threatning. vehicle was almost t-ed at intersection taking left across several lanes. *tr

On the first day jeep gave me my new truck i took the jeep to the nearest gas station to fill up the tank for the first time. when the tank filled up, it spilled fuel all over the ground , truck and gas station personnel who was refueling the truck ( there is personnel in charge of refueling in gas stations in my country : peru southamerica ) my 2010 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited 4 dr was bought on this february of 2011 , and keeps having the same problem . my concern is that since my truck is not on the u.s territory ( but manufactured on the u.s ) jeep on my country will try to avoid taking care of many of the recalls been made already to the braking system , which i have read after i bought the truck. is every jeep dealer ( even outside u.s ) obligated to call his jeep wrangler customers for recalls ???..... cause they have not told me anything yet about everything written on the web. *tr

I have a manual transmission and when starting from a stop in first gear the transmission will pop out of first gear and into neutral leaving you to cost until you can get it back into gear. this occurs randomly and with no warnings. after the first time the frequency increases until the issue is fixed. the problem can be corrected by replacing the appropriate synchro. when pulling out into heavy traffic this could be very dangerous. *tr

I have a 2010 sport wrangler unlimited 4dr, at approx 3800 miles the car went dead on the highway at approx 60mph. all the indicator lights came on and the steering and brakes were hard to control. momentarily the car resumed and went back to dealer. have maintenance slips and initial complaint. same incident happened at approx 4700 miles went back to same dealer. checked online with chrysler although the first time they replaced the ignition coil. it hasn't been resolved and i don't believe it will be resolved at the dealer level. *tr

I purchased a 2010 jeep rubicon in nov 2009, returned to the dealer within 60 days and stated to the dealer that first and second gears had continually "popped out" while attempting to move from a stand still. i was told that the problem could not be reproduced and that i "need to be more careful in my shifting". i have had manual transmissions in all my cars since i was 16. i know how to drive them, i have also had two previous jeep wranglers and both were manuals with absolutely no "popping" issues. i have taken this issue up with the dealership for a second time and was told the same thing again. tomorrow it is going in for the third time for this issue. this "popping" occurs on average of about 4/5 times a week. i have been caught in intersections, on ramps, up hills, (very scary if someone is behind you) and numerous other situations where safety has been jeopardized and a serious accident narrowly avoided. my wife also drives this vehicle and had to see a doctor for a hyper extended finger when the shifter kicked back and caught her un aware. this needs to be fixed, recalled, something. *tr

Let me begin by saying that my husband and i have driven manual transmissions for years and have never had any issues arise such as these. we have a 6 month old, 2010, jeep wrangler, 2-door, manual transmission. immediately after purchasing the vehicle, the clutch began popping out of first and second gear. last monday, sept. 20th, we had a chrysler dealer look at the issue and the technician took apart the transmission and replaced a snychronizer. once we took the vehicle home, we immediately began to have further problems. now, the vehicle often sticks in gear and we often can't get it into the next highest gear or downshift. for example, i pulled out of a parking lot (with my 6 year old son as a passenger as well), and i gotthe vehicle shifted (had to jam it) into first, but couldn't get it into 2nd. we were stuck in oncoming traffic and i was desperately trying to get it into a gear to go. i ended up getting it into third and putted slowly in my lane. also, i was on my way to a meeting, with a co-worker, and i was attempting to put the vehicle into 5th and it wouldn't go into 5th gear, i had to slow down in a higher mileage area to have the ability to keep it in 4th. those are two of several examples of incidences that took place over a period of 5 days. we had the vehicle towed back to the dealership for repair. at this point, there has been no decision on what repair will take place. the technician is attending a transmission training today and stated he would consult others there. however, a service manager stated that this is the third jeep wrangler that they had transmission issues within two weeks and that chrysler is aware of these problems. i have grown very frustrated and concerned with this vehicle. i am concerned about the safety of the vehicle, especially because it is my primary mode of transportation with my child and being stuck in oncoming traffic is not an ideal situation. have found websites devoted to these issues/complaints. *tr

E s p a deadly idea that is being forced upon us. may of 2010 i purchased a jeep wrangler unlimited. first weekend of september i had e s p failure. took it to jeep the following wed. they attempted to return it to me unable to duplicate, no parts replaced. the problem did not "go away ". e s p failures have been happening since 2007. a safety device to save you in a crash should not cause the crash. only about 12,300 miles on the vehicle. factory stock. no mods. jeep buying back the vehicle will not protect me or my loved ones. the others will still be out there on the road. forced legislation of this will actually create other problems in addition to the failures. various "hack jobs" will be performed in order to remedy the problem but will actually cause more problems. i already have to dodge weaving drivers for other reasons. drunks are at least attempting to drive. has no one any common sense anymore? if i wanted to be driven i would hire a chauffeur. remember the auto seat belts that threw people out of their cars and caused them to be killed or paralyzed. ( i personally know someone that this happened to). how about the air bags decapitating children? that really saved lives there. let us not forget the recent prius failures. *tr

After driving on the freeway for approx. 40 miles i attempted to exit. i applied my brakes to start slowing down and proceed to get into the exit lane. once in the exit lane i tried to apply more brake pressure to slow down faster, and the brake pedal slowly traveled all the way to the floor. i managed to get back on to the freeway without incident and onto a breakdown lane to slow down. i applied my brakes again, and after applying a moderate amount of pressure the brake pedal continued to travel to the floor. using only moderate brake pressure i was able to slow down my vehicle and stop. any more than moderate pressure would cause the pedal to go to the floor. i checked my brake fluid level, and it was still at the max level, so i proceeded to pump my breaks to try and locate a leak. there were no leaks and the brake fluid level did not go down. i slowly continued home knowing that i had limited braking ability. at home i inspected my vehicle again, and there was no brake fluid loss. i opened the brake fluid container and inspected the fluid level, the fluid level was at the max mark, but i noticed small black particles at the bottom of the container. i called the dealer i purchased the vehicle from and described the incident. they picked up my vehicle and replaced the brake master cylinder. *tr
