2007 NISSAN Murano

While driving at 15 mph the drivers metal seat track failed and the seat tilted backwards into the rear seat. At this point I could not drive the vehicle it was unstable and very unsafe. The dealer where I purchased the vehicle Nissan Auto Place on Main St. Williamsville, N.Y. 14221 or Nissan Consumer Affairs case # 10167988 will help me with this. They said it is my problem.

I own a 2007 Nissan Murano that was purchased new in September of 2007. Recently, I noticed that the fuel gauge was not going to full when re-filling the tank. I took the car to my local Nissan dealer for a diagnosis. I was told that yes there is a problem with the fuel system and that the fuel tank would have to be replaced. The cost of this repair would be approximately $1100. I was also handed a service bulletin dated April 4, 2007 that describes the problem and the remedy. The reason I am concerned is that I was only notified of this problem AFTER my new car warranty expired. This incident took place within 2 months of my warranty being expiring. I spoke at length with someone from Nissan Customer Service, Midwest region. She claimed that they investigated my situation and that it just was a big coincidence. According to Nissan, they did know of a problem before I purchased my car, but the problem I have (although the exact same one they knew about) doesn’t fall into the VIN sequence they had on file. It sounds like semantics to me since the car is out of warranty. Apparently, there is a review process that determines if Nissan will do anything for the customer past the expiration of the warranty. In my case, they denied me any further help. So I am out of luck – and either I live with this problem or I shell out $1100 for a problem that Nissan knew about months BEFORE I even purchased the car.

The rear sub frame is completely rusted in two. the rear sway bar fell off in the highway while driving. the vehicle was in motion.

On march 14th, i purchased a 2007 nissan murano from a private owner. i was told the throttle bottle needed to be replaced. after replacing the throttle bottle the murano felt like it lost all power when i accelerated but the vehicle was still on. contacted the seller and he said they've never had any transmission issues or anything. i followed up with getting the spark plugs changed, transmission fuel and filter changed, a brand new battery and an oil change. this worked for about a month up until early april of 2021. the vehicle now seems as though it's in limo mode. no mechanic wants to work on it and i feel completely cheated and at a total loss. vadden nissan constantly has an excuse not to work on my vehicle and at this point, it's just very frustrating. i've spend thousand of dollars on this vehicle only for me to still be at square one. i'm also afraid for my safety being in traffic and having to turn on my safety hazard lights. the vehicle will drive normal if i restart it but goes right back into limp mode.

I bought this vehicle with a salvaged title. after waiting a month i got it. there were no details as to why it was salvage. there were no boxes checked as far as parts being replaced or fixed. odometer said 69000. the vehicle is still brand new but really its not. it takes on water. bad. under the hood it has no air filter. the breatherbox isnt even clamped down. no hise from rad to box to adjust air flow for the mass af sensor. the ww fill bottle has a hole. no fluid can be added. the front windshield isnt airtight. it leaks bad. there are no headlights. i discovered this when i needed them. the inside is overcome with mildew smell. the airbagdoesnt work. heck not connected. the last inspection sticker said 2020. when searchimg the vin theres no i do to be had. the trim ariund the fog lamps was never finished. the catch playe wasnt ever added. it failed inspection. and the place i bought it is a licensed shop bit they sent me down the road. didnt wamt their name on the paper i guess. the ac doesnt work right. i believe it to be electrical. and thjs was sold to me as a used vehicle. i was mislead. he'll wherever it has been sitting it was coveted but theres still miunds of mold and funk everywhere. its a very suspiciius vehicle. i took it back. they tokd me they wojkd sell it again. no one needs to be drivi g this vehicle. they are selling it at full fair market value too. i just wanted to bring this to your attention.

Vehicles sub frame has rusted completely through making this car unsafe and nondrivable. the vehicle was responding oddly when steering and i noted that the rear tires were at a odd angle. i took the car in for a wheel alignment whereby i was told this car was unsafe and undrivable due to a totally rusted out subframe. i had the car taken to another shop to install a new subframe which costed me $2000.00 to replace. this car has been babied and is very clean and looks new, i have new tires, brake pads, rotors, shocks, struts and always kept this cars maintenance up to date. it is unbeleavable how this garage kept vehicle could rust out soo badly on such a critical suspension component. i guestion that the metal used was unsatisfactory for this critical component. luckily this part did not fail me while driving although the vehicle was starting to drift and sway unusually as it was driven which first brought my attention to the problem. i have all of my reciepts if copies are needed for verification of this failure. i also have many photos of which i attached a couple for you files. i would welcome a onsite review if needed. these muranos are a definite road hazard and a hazard that is not easily seen or identified unless you crawl under the car to assess its condition which is why i think there should be a recall for the safety of all motorist who drive and are also on the road with this car. thanks for your support and concern.

Just purchased vehicle in november took it to mechanics because i kept getting shocked by the seat they stated the engine had been on fire with previous owner and i should check for and recall since the dealership is not willing to assist now that vehicle is completely non functional

The rear subframe literally disintegrated. while driving on a 4 lane highway at 65 mph the rear wheels both shifted. like many others on here my 17 year old daughter was driving and the rear wheels practically fell off of the vehicle. this should be a recall. lives are at risk, not just for the owners of the car but this could have caused a catastrophic accident and loss of life. i have never seen a vehicle look like this that wasn't in a accident. owners should be notified immediately. this 2007.nissan murano is not drivable. and worst of all the dealer wants $4900.00

In 2011, my driver's side visor dropped as i was driving, causing me to almost have a wreck. i took my car to the nearest dealership and was told that it would cost me close to $700 to replace and there was no recall on this item. i have tried all sorts of methods to keep my visor up, but nothing has worked and the issue is getting worse. there are already 59 complaints regarding this issue. what will it take to get nissan to issue a recall and replace? someone to have a wreck while driving? *tr

While getting in my car after work, the seat was all of a sudden unstable, leaning to the rear left. upon further inspection, the bracket has broken in two places, which will need to be re-welded. i had no warning prior to it actually breaking. this is unbelievable, have never had anything like this happen. very glad it did not happen while i was driving, particularly on a road trip. *tr

Power steeling hose leaking - looks that it bursted

Exterior driver side door handle broke. cheap plastic fell apart. dealer won't cover cost to fix.

Sun visor driver side failed at @ 50,000 miles . falls down while driving. dealer won't cover repair. $200 for a new one. this is a safety hazard which causes visibility problems while driving. well known defect. dealer suggested using velcro or bungi cords to fix the problem.

The car was parked and it did not start at all.. happened twice in one month. had to be towed, took it to the shop and they didnot find anything wrong because the car was working ok. and this also can happened when i was driving my car. the car stop working no lights no brakes nothing was working. took it to the shop and the same thing. the car was working again. also i received a letter from nissan saying that there is a problem with a part that doesnot let you fill up your gas tank and they said that they have extended the warranty for this part but they cannot replaced it until you have this problem.

My 2007 nissan murano driver side seat made a loud pop sound when i sat down to drive and then broke causing it to lean to the left side, very unstable and unsafe. this should not have happened, not normal wear and tear.

Sun visa keep falling down. it is very dangerous. every mile it drops down at least 10 times. i have to tape it. also it can not keep in the up location when i use it to block sun. it should be a recall since it is very dangerous and so many people report this problem.

2007 nissan muranos were part of a voluntary recall involving the passenger airbag sensor. nissan states my vin number is not part of that recall, however, it is the exact same issue as the recall for the same make, model and year. at this time the passenger airbag will not deploy in an accident puting passengers at risk for ingury or possible death. the vin number should be included in the recall. please investigate asap so passangers in this vehicle are not at risk. thank you! the consumer requested an update. *js

I have been driving 2007 nissan murano and when i drive the vehicle from a stop it jerk very badly and issue is with cvt transmission. as per nissan dealership they will try to fix the cvt issue by changing the valve body and if this will not fix the issue then they will work on cvt transmission.

The rear sub frame has rusted out, causing the control arm to snap while driving the vehicle resulting in the vehicle being towed.

While driving my vehicle, i heard a loud clunk from the rear of the vehicle. at the next intersection when i attempted to stop, it veered sharply to the left, almost into oncoming traffic. i was able to drive it to a local repair shop for inspection. they indicated the entire rear sub frame broke in half and separated from the vehicle. i have ready many threads of drivers experiencing the same thing. these vehicles are a danger on the road.

My nissan murano has 122,000 miles on car and i have already spent a lot of money repairing cvt's, front end issues and had to purchase a new transmission. i was on the interstate and had to drive slow all the way to my home. no accident but nissan murano has a lot of issues with the front wheels and transmission.

I recently learned that i need a transmission ($4,400) for my 2007 nissan murano and i also have read that this is common problem among nissans. why isn't there some kind of recall or help to replace again for such a common problem?

I brought my car to reed nissan to be diagnosed because the check engine light was on. they diagnosed the car and said that a few things needed fixing and when fix the light will be gone. i paid to fix the car and when i was driving home the check egine light came back. i called back and spoke to my servuce advisor who told me to bring back the car to be re diagnosed. the finding was another problem that apparently didnt show up because of how long the car took to be fix. i agree to replaced what they quote me the price for but instead i got the opposite. they replaced what they wanted to and disnt replace everything they agreed to replace but i still had tonpay all the money that was agreed on eventhough i didnt get all the work done that was suppose to be done. today my car radiator blew and they say they are not responsible for it a week aftwr i fix my car with them. there was also a crack in my engine cover and a screw missing to keep it tight. my radiator cover screws were also missing. i apod my money and didnt get the job that they told me i was supposed to get. whrn i spoke to the manager they give me all these stories and were not taking any blames for anything. the tech who worked on my car said he didnt broke my engine cover and that the screw was missing so he left it the same way. as a technician you work on someone car engine and did not replace the screw and broke my cover and lied about it and of course nissan backs him eventhough he was wring and was lying. the manager walked away without even saying a word to us about what was going to be the outcome and when i approach him about this matter he pretend as if he wasnt being rude by saying he saw we were already being taken care of my the tech and service manager so he excused himself. this is how they operate at reed nissan. they are reed nissan on west colonial drive in orlando florida. nasty.

My husband and i bought our 2007 nissan murano 1 year ago. the car drove great for the past year until march 11, 2017. while driving to a movie, the car made a very unusual sound, similar to a loud flat tire and the car lost power on a very busy highway. thankfully, we were able to put on our hazards, and we barely made it to the side of the road. my husband took a look at the back of the car where the sound was coming from, and he noticed a crack in the rear end under the car. of course, we had the car towed to the nearest shop. the mechanic has now reported to us that the transfer case was cracked and it seized up. the mechanic also told us that there is a crack in the front end as well. the mechanic is positive that the faulty transfer case has caused the crack in the rear end and the front end of the car, these are cracks in the rear end of the power train and front end of the power train. the total cost to fix this vehicle is estimated at $ 6000.00. this is appalling after researching the issue; a faulty transfer case is common among the 2007 nissan murano's. this could have caused a severe accident, as we lost power on a very busy highway and a car had to swerve out of the way to miss us. i pray that something will be done about this. a 6000.00 dollar set back is beyond our means, and we have to scrape at everything to get the money, we have four children who could have used that money for things they needed. now instead of chicken or roast for dinner, it will be roman noodles. this is not right.

Intake boot separates from the intake manifold and the engine stalls. this can and has happened to me at freeway speeds. total loss of power and control. mechanic has worked on it repeatedly and it keeps coming off. at best it will stay in place for a couple months before it comes off again with no warning. told my car is not covered by recall but have exact same problem described in recall.

Visors will not stay up in storage. expensive replacement but not safe. visor will suddenly drop obstructing drivers view of the road. this happens both on driver and passenger visors but driver is worse. completely obscures view of road and it is unpredictable when it will happen. no way to tighten or fix. no promise that replacement won't have same problem.

I exited a parking lot and while driving at approximately 20mph the drivers seat rear mounting bracket broke on the rear left side, the seat snapped back to the left side which nearly caused me to lose control of the vehicle. i've read on the forums that this is happening to nearly every single 2003 - 2007 nissan murano. *tr

Transmission went only had the suv for 4 months.

I have been having problems with my car smoking once i start driving. i have to consistently add motor oil and it smokes more. my mechanic tells me he ran two diagnostic tests and nothings coming up. then my daughter and granddaughter were on rt 130 in pennsauken nj my suv just stalled and wouldn't let me give it gas. then it just jumped into gear. it did it twice while cars were speeding by trying to avoid rear ending me. my heart felt like it fell into my seat. i had to put my hazard lights on until i could find a spot to pull in.it happened again the next day. right now is not the time for this to happen. i have transport my motherto her heart doctor appointments. however i too scared to drive.

Ther rear sway bar broke on my way home from work one day on the highway and when i looked under the vehicle to see what it was, the entire underbody is rotted out to include the subframe. this is not an isolated incident with this model vehicle. the vehicle is no longer safe to drive.

Last year my drivers side front seat anchor/bracket broke. poor design. rear sub frame rusted out resulting in the rear left wheel to nearly fall off while driving. this year my wife was advised by a person in a vehicle behind her that the rear wheel was ready to launch. road salt caused rusting to sub frame body mount. again poor design and material. *tr

Front transfer case leaks for no apparent reason causing failure. no maintenance checks are listed for this part and appears to be a design failure.

I own a 2007 nissan murano that i bought used 1.5 years ago. there are two serious safety issues that the car has and for which nissan has had to recall thousands of other vehicles. i just cannot understand why my particular vehicle was not covered under the recall. it's just too coincidental and nissan should be held accountable. recall number 09v169000 recall date 05/19/2009 component engine and engine cooling the intake air ducts, which are connected to the intermediate resonator in the air intake system of the engine, may separate from the resonator with engine movement. this separation occurs due to the premature aging of the material used in the intake air ducts which causes excessive shrinking. recall number 08v521000 recall date 10/07/2008 component air bags summary nissan is recalling 204,361 my 2007-2008 altima, altima hybrid, 350z, 350z roadster, my 2008 altima coupe, rogue, my 2009 murano, and infiniti my 2007-2008 g35 sedan, my 2008 g37 coupe and ex35 passenger vehicles equipped with continental automotive systems' occupant classification system (ocs) control units. a varistor in the ocs control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured out of specification. under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the ocs and the air bag control unit (acu). consequence this could result in the passenger air bag being suppressed which could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash.

While driving on freeway (in middle of nowhere)car started jerking/shaking/vibrating & clunking/banging sound, felt like driving over millions of nails. car could barely drive at 40 mph in slow lane w/hazards until i could get to safety an hour away. car cannot go above 5 mph to get it home. rpm going wacky no power when step on gas but engine revs. engine light on steady then flashes when car gets going at only 5 mph (cannot go faster) but i finally got the car home & i was safe. now car can’t be driven & must be towed to a garage. car has oil leak & i replaced the oil pan along with faulty alternator which killed battery just 2 months ago. bought car used 2/1/20. has 110,000 miles now. engine hot/smells hot but temp gauge doesn’t reflect that. i was nearly killed on freeway by passing tractor trailers & traffic having to speed by me recklessly when it happened to avoid collision-no warning. very dangerous & scary. i see there are nearly 600 other cases exactly like this!!! single mom with 2 kids in car - very dangerous. this should be recalled. it sounds by reading complaints that it’s the transfer case?

The rear wheels looked like they were pointing in the rear and it was driving weird. i took it to a mechanic and he looked it over and told me my rear subframe was rusted out and he advised me not to drive it was a un safety to drive. he said it could fall apart on me

All 2007 nissan murano have a rear t frame that rust out and the wheeles go inwould and the frame gets so bad it can splite as your driving and nissan never had a recall on this type of metal they used and let people drive the car which any mechanic would tell you it is not safe to drive the cost of repair on this is around 3000 dollars

My murano has been stalling to pick up speed have replaced over $1500 in parts. but still cant locate the problem, at the mechanic shop they said it could be the solenoid sensor but they dont know if it could be it.when driving on highway sometimes it will not pick up speed and will only drive 30 to 40 mph. other times while driving on highway it will stay at 60mph and will not go over. the engine looks a bit shifted as well i don't know what could have caused it. and it makes a really ugly loud squick that we have been trying to fix but don't know if it could be because of engine shift.no accidents issue has been going on for more than 3 months.

Rear stabilizer bar broke off the rear drivers side. upon taking it to a mechanic it was discovered that the rear cradles were eroded to the point of failure. it was determined to be a driving hazard.

Rusted sub frame stationary i notice it when replacing rear tires

While operating my vehicle on 6/27/2020 after 1hr of driving the car steering wheel would not turn almost causing an accident. i had to stop the car put in it park, turn the car off and then back on. when i tried to turn the car on and it hesitated then turn over. i then proceeded to turn the corner and the check engine light came on. this is the 2nd time this has happened and when i took car to car shop. the code was p0340, cam shaft position. i replace the cam shaft after this happened the first time. now this has happened again, almost causing me to have an accident.

I was backing up and i heard a loud thump sound my car stopped for a minute and i took it immediately to my mechanic he put it on the lift and told me that my rear crater sub plate had cracked that holds my wheels together on both sides cracked and as i was driving down the street a couple people blew the horn at me and told me that my wheels were tilted towards the inside of my car and that my out of wheels was off the ground i am very disappointed in nissan because this is like my second nissan that i own in i had problems with the subframe . it appears that they are using very cheap metal for this subframe the sad thing about it i live paycheck to paycheck i don't have money to buy a new car or money to even fix this frame is very sad that the consumers at a. of time have to be stuck with this type of repair this car is only 13 years old is no way this metal shouldn't trust like this i am calling nissan out to take a good look at the frames that they are putting on their cars

While driving the car will stall and not keep up with the speed i am doing . while entering the highway i need to accelerate and increase speed the vehicle will appear to be at the speed via the speedometer but it will lag and shutter and pause, causing cars to have to slam on breaks or quickly move to another lane because my vehicle cannot keep up with the flow of traffic. it is not safe on highway or on street. i've have kept up with regular tune ups, oils changes and new tires . recently got a tune up and the issue still persist . very scary. *tr

The car continuously cuts off the brake light and battery light are on we have replaced alternator twice, once remanufactured second time brand new. also replaced with battery thats when the lights came on before that it would occasionally have a hard time starting.

Air bag light is on. took it to auto shop and they are stating the air bag module is bad and needs to be replace. the car have never been in an accident so why would it need to be replace?

Main control module is not working, mechanic says the air bags may or may not deploy in a wreck. was told by nissan the module would cost 1100 dolars plus labor to install.

My intake hose keeps coming off the resonator, like completely. my car will lose power immediately whether i'm driving on a hwy at 70 mph or stopped at a light. i lose power steering and its difficult for me to press down on the breaks. i'm very luck i was in the position to be able to pull off the hwy safely. i have to tighten the bracket tight enough to make it home. a lot of times i'm unable to tighten it good enough and it will come off again. most recent incident happened on 3/2/2020 at a traffic light. this has been happening for the better part of a year and a half. very scary to go through.

While driving the vehicle it may randomly stall causing the motor to shut down while the car is in use making it very unsafe. also random over heating and stalling i’ve changed both camshaft sensors and the crankshaft sensor also the radiator and the thermostat nothing fixes it. there was a recall on my vehicle but i need to be put on the list i was left out.

Was driving 50km/h with my grandson in the car on a side street when we heard a loud bang and then something dragging on the ground, i pulled over and got out to find the control arm had broken the subframe and hit the ground. thankfully my self and my grandson were ok and the compressed spring for the rear suspension did not come out of its holder.

From time to time the vehicle unexpectedly stalls. engine does not die but power to transmission is lost. vehicle will not rev unless it is put into park or neuteral. when transmission is engaged stepping on the accelerator produces no rpms. vehicle costs to side of road and problem is sometimes remidied with shutting off the engine and restarting other times i have had to have it towed to a repair shop where i have been told there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.

I have a 2007 nissan murano se, garage kept in southern pa. while the vehicle was being driven the rear frame of the vehicle rusted completely through resulting in a life threatening condition. the car is not derivable, was towed to a mechanic who informed us that the repair estimate would be over $3,000. i see many such reports but can find no evidence of a recall by nissan.

I recently purchased this car used. after driving it for a little while, the car started shaking every time i would try to accelerate, but would get smooth once i got up to speed. after a few stop and go, the car decided to go into limp mode. i managed to get the car home safely, but barely. now it drives smooth for a few minutes and then the extreme shaking returns. it only happens when the car is in drive, and stops after i shift it out. after doing some research online, i found that the transmission in the 07 nissan murano is notorious for failing. nissan actually extended the warranty to 10 years/ 120,000 miles. but if you cannot get it fixed within that time your stuck, because they are so bad no transmission shop would work on them. every forum related to muranos just rants about how bad the transmission is. nissan should be responsible for putting faulty transmissions in so many vehicles, i am scared to imagine what would happen if it failed on the highway while at speed.

Recently my wife had been informing me of a problem on our 2007 nissan murano was unstable when being driven, and makes loud clunking noises when turning and reversing at low speed. i drove the suv myself on december 2nd, and while turning a corner at a major intersection it went over a small bump or manhole cover. at that time the rear end of the car fishtailed, and i nearly lost control of the vehicle. the rest of the drive home the vehicle felt unstable while driving at approximately 35 mph on a dry, smooth, and straight road. upon arriving home, about 1 mile from where the incident happened i noticed the driver side rear wheel was cambered inwards about 10-15 degrees. i contacted my mechanic by phone, and he told me to not drive the car and have it towed to his independent repair shop for an inspection. when he lifted the vehicle off the ground he discovered the problem. he sent me the attached picture, and said the vehicle’s subframe has “extreme” rust which is unusual for only being 12 years old, and that it is “not safe to drive”. additionally i have read many articles of other nissan vehicles having problems with corrosion underneath the vehicle for states that use road salt in the winter. currently there is a repair campaign going on with nissan altima corrosion issues, and i am concerned many other murano have the same problem as mine. i have also contacted nissan, and opened a safety concern with them. the reference number is 38078953 nissan says there are no recalls or campaigns with this 2007 nissan murano for corrosion.

My murano suddenly shuts off w/o warning if i am stopped at a traffic light etc. all the lights come on by themselves (interior lights/exterior lights/headlamps) and the only way to shut them off is to remove the battery terminals from their posts. this has happened multiple times and the car is parked and the engine is off. there is a high-pitched ringing sound whenever the front drivers door is unlocked. while i'm driving and the fob is in my pocket, an alarm begins to sound and alerts that the key-fob is not inside the vehicle; i must stop, shut off the engine, remove the actual key from the fob and insert it into the ignition and restart the vehicle (battery in the key-fob has been changed several times and the problem still exists). the vehicle battery has also been replaced.

My family has owned a 2007 nissan murano for nearly 8 years. in the last year, my wife has experienced extreme trauma as she has had the vehicle completely die on her while in the middle of freeways, highways, and residential roads. we have had the vehicle taken in and inspected by multiple nissan dealerships and each visit has only resulted in their recommendation of routine maintenance being suggested, such as transmission fluid exchange, brake repair, or battery replacement. our murano has recently decided to repeat these same issues after over a year of normal function. my wife was driving the vehicle normally and all of a sudden she began to lose power until the car came to a stop and the function of the vehicle stopped due to what appeared to be an electrical problem. after assessing the issue, i attempted to jump start the vehicle with jumper cables, which allowed the murano to start, but once it was independently idling, it would again lose power after an attempt to drive the vehicle. i am heavily concerned for the welfare of my wife and daughter as they drive this car daily. the nissan dealerships that i typically rely on for these critical repairs have been no help and i am at a loss for why this has happened with such a long time frame between issues. i hope that nissan will issue a recall on this problem and rectify any prior repairs that have been suggested as a resolution to the issue that may very well have not resolved the true issue at hand. i am in dire need of answers as to why a well maintained vehicle would be fine one minute and then completely inoperable the next. the vehicle has had many components replaced and maintained to prolong the life of the vehicle and with 180k miles has the potential to continue for many more. i don’t want to pour money into this issue that nissan needs to address, as i am not the only one having dealt with this!

Driving on the highway and all of a sudden started sounding like something was binding. when i got a chance to look under the vehicle, i can clearly see that the rear differential has shattered, broken completely apart and can see the gears inside. i googled 07 murano rear differential and the exact same thing keeps coming up. the current rear differential looks to have a yellow grease mark on it. indicates to me the part has been replaced before and the replacement did the same thing.

The car felt like it was floating. took it to an independent shop, where they informed me the rear subframe is completely rusted out. the vehicle is unsafe to drive.

We have had trouble multiple times with the rear hatch not opening electrically (the only way to open it).we have had troubles with the door locks either not locking or just some locking at this moment neither key bob will lock or unlock them.

Car was taken for inspection and the rear subframe was rusted and severely damaged. mechanic reported that car was unsafe to drive. the vehicle has no body damage and was never in an accident to my knowledge.

I was driving and randomly lost power. no powersteering, no acceleration, no brakes, all of the lights on the dash turned on like the engine shut off, and the key was turned back to electrical (while in the middle of driving, i'm 100% sure the car turned off without the ignition key switching to off). this has happened about 5 times now. the code p0345 activated shortly after the second time it happened. it has happened when decelerating/braking, accelerating, and coasting, low and high speeds. i know there are other reports of this with muranos on the internet and apparently happens to a few other nissans. this started in early june, when the temperatures are above mid 80's.

Traveling east on highway 287 through town my car lost all power so i coasted to the side of the road in the middle of heavy traffic. the car was still running but would not accelerate while in gear although it would in park or neutral. eventually it would quit and only start with a jump then run for a little while. the next day i went to go pick up my car on the side of the road having somebody give me a jump and then it wouldn't start at all. so then i went and got a new battery and it ran for as long as it took to run that battery down. i replaced alternator a year ago when i was having the same problem. i'm stuck i don't know what to do. does anybody have a solution?

I'm concerned about the vehicle's safety due to the fact that the engines stops while driving on the road. no warning lights or anything indicating a problem.

Been having major issues with the power of the vehicle. it’s like shaking and not accelerating like it should be.

Bought the car 5 months ago. was driving awesome. brand new tires! very well maintained with lots of paperwork stating work done on vehicle!..:well was driving it the other day with my 2 year old daughter and it started to over heat i immediately pulled over after going 60 mph on the highway for over an hour. i’m now stuck on the highway with my toddler in the 80 degree weather when i just thought it was my radiator. the state police notice my rear 2 tires slanted , top leaning in bottom leaning out. after the car gets put on the flat bed tow i spot my rear crossmember k frame split in 2 spots! radiator was my sign telling me my awd is acting up something happened. if i would have hit one small bump on that highway i wouldn’t be here to file this complaint. this is a known issue to nissan! this needs to be fixed!!! and made sure all vehicles are safe for anyone to be in. my vehicle is 12 years old no way should that frame even be able to snap not in one but two spots on this vehicle. this is a huge safety issue that needs to be resolved. i my car overheating was a blessing because that could have been deadly. this will be brought to bigger attention because all nissan owners need to be aware and this needs to be fixed !!!!!!

I was on the highway when the car shut down on me. i took it to 2 mechanics and they both said the motor seized. they mentioned that the car was burning oil after the fact. there was no signs on my dashboard. the only difference on the car that i noticed was the car had been running a bit sluggish . i’ve replaced the timing chain and fuel pump. the car only has 96,600 miles. the mechanic can’t give me a straight answer just that the motor seized .

I noticed the car handled very poorly in snow/ice/wet conditions over the winter. the car was in the shop for an oil change and the mechanic noticed both rear tires were worn down to nothing on the inside of the tire. upon further inspection, he found that the rear subframe had rusted through and broken into two. the vehicle was declared unsafe to drive. i bought the car used this past summer, but i have the service records and i know it was properly maintained. the estimated cost of repairs is more than i can afford ($5,000). i contacted nissan to see if they would provide any assistance with repairs and i spoke with 3 different people (first consumer affairs, then a supervisor, and finally a manager), who all told me that they are "not in a position to assist because the vehicle is out of warranty". the last person (manager, consumer affairs) wouldn't even let me speak before he told me they wouldn't offer any assistance. when i asked if there was someone else i could speak with, i was told no - there isn't anyone else who would talk to me and they will not be able to assist me. this is an extremely dangerous situation and i am fortunate that both of the tires did not blow out while i was driving on the expressway. i am shocked that there has not been a recall issued as i see others have complained about the same issue.

The seat bracket broke. really a seat bracket that breaks from fatigue of entering and leaving the vehicle?!? safety concern sun visor no longer holds its position due to plastic that wears out. safety issue. transmission failure at just over 100,000 miles. reports all over the web about this. so common, and so expensive. major safety issue. nissan has done nothing to address these issues that are so common with all of these models. it is not just me, there is report after report on the web. all the same issues.

Rear sub-frame (k-frame) rusted and snapped in half while driving. 174,000 miles on the car. this is a common problem with this model. nissan has not issued a recall.

My car is totally just crap! i’ve replaced coil packs, alternator, mass air flow sensor, battery, hub assemblies, catalic converter, and a lot more and it still has major problems! i believe it has electrical problems because my radio gets a loud static. it seems like it has a hard time accelerating. then starts shaking real bad at about 20-40mph, then does fine above 60mph???

My nissan starts to jerk from first gear or when i slow down and start to accelerate it makes a hard jerk like downshifting on a manual transmission and releasing clutch too fast. i research and there are a lot of public forums on this issue on sensors going bad to cvt fluid change to transmission issues. i took to my mechanic and they took it apart completely said had to replace the torque converter. so this will be a $1000 repair and i hope this will resolve the issue.

Driving on a slick highway the rearend of the murano was fishtailing. the rear suspension was making noises, and the steering wheel was suddenly way off center. i took it to a local mechanic to inspect. it was noted the the rear swaybar had separated from the rear crossmember /subframe and the subframe was rusted and cracked and rusted through to failure. the vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive, and was told to immediately stop driving it. the rear wheels were tilted outward and a big safety hazard. subframe near total separation from vehicle. murano is now a total loss. cost to repair too extensive.

Takata recall multiple times the car while in motion wants to cut off or won't drive. i was driving and it wasn't wanting to drive. i pulled into a parking lot to my right. then as i entered the parking lot the car turned off completely by itself and i couldn't use my breaks or steering wheel. i ended up running it into a curb to be able to come to a complete stop. i have read that there is a recall on 2005-2007 nissan. i looked up my vin number to see if there was a recall and it says there was not a recall on my vechile but other nissan owners have been having the same problem. i have a baby and don't need my nissan shutting off and causing an accident while i have my baby in the car.

I was riding on the highway and almost got hit a couple of times. my car just stalled an shut down. it is a hazard cause myself and my kids could have gotten killed. i have a new serpentine belt , battery is good an alternator is good. my car was driving then all of a sudden it just stalled.

I own a 2007 nissan murano sl awd. i have taken the vehicle to my local nissan dealer for almost all of the service to my car. i took the car to another local mechanic to verify the need for lower front control arms. the nissan dealer quoted ~ $900 for this service. to my surprise, my 2nd mechanic; who i have done business with for years, tells me that i don't need control arms but a new sub frame. the rear subframe on the murano is completely rusted. it is almost to the point where the rear axle can collapse. i did a search and discovered there are numerous nissan murano and quest owners that have this problem. this is a major safety issue. nissan has to have known about this. but what really bothers me the most is that my local nissan dealer did not mention this to me. my car has been in that shop dozens of times over the years. it is there for state inspection every year............and no one noticed.

Our son was leaving long pond, harwich ma recreational parking lot at a regular driving speed, there are pot holes in the parking lot there but he did not go over them any faster or slower than normal. the air bags went off a few seconds after going through one of the pot holes but he did not go through the pot hole any faster or slower than he has been through the parking lot before.

"nissan murano" drivers seat left side seat mount bracket that mounts to floor boards cracked and completely broke causing me to swerve into on coming traffic. a head on collision was closely avoided. i contacted ken (xxxx) nissan in medina ohio and they said that nissan motors will do nothing about it because it is not a safety issue and will do nothing about it. this issue i feek is an obvious safety issue and the vehicle shoud be recalled. i has the seat welded so it would work again but the weld eventually failed. seat is now broke.

My 2007 nissan muran has approx 125,000 miles. i have taken care of it. it has nice tires and the most recent 4wheel alignments where approx jan and feb 2018. for whatever reason i got in one day last summer and as soon as i was on the highway my seat felt as if i got push backward and my seat bracket had just broke, i now have bricks holding up my $28,000 ride! july 26, 2018 someone pulled into my driveway hitting my parked vehicle and quickly driving away. they hit it hard enough to dent the bumper and tow bar. i immediately could tell the rear end was way off. progressive refuses to pay for this as they said my crossmember completely rusted through as well as some of my frame and some other parts.. they say if the vehicle had not had such a serious rust problem -which is not age appropriate to my vehicle-then it would not have broken in half towing my tires in as well from that hit. coverage is voided like a poor workmanship deal! the shop i have it at right now says its so far gone it is seriously unsafe to drive. for myself and others. due to nissans premature rust issues my car is undriveable and my drivers seat isnt safe as well. progressive auto insurance is refusing to stand by my full coverage policy and apparently are legally able to do so because the substandard parts give them that escape clause. i still owe on this vehicle. i really need nissan to make this right as they have even made it so it was uninsurable as i paid and i never even knew it. i have my car in places for alignments, tires, oil changes etc etc and noone ever told me it was rusting or rusted away. the progressive agent had looked at my murano upon the 1st inspection and never even told me about the danger i was in driving. nissan has created a problem that has prompted my progressive adjuster to place my safety at risk so they can get out of paying. i took care of my car!

Transmission is shot. will not shift. took to nissan dealer quoted 4300 to fix. car has 117,000 miles on it. nissan consumer dept opened case and denied it within 24 hrs said due to being out of the warrantly yearly even though its under the 120000 of the extended warranty

I was told that the rear of the car couldn't be aligned.. after looking for myself discovered that the subframe was totally rotted. the car cannot be driven and i am screwed. this should be fixed by nissan. this is not a small defect. this can kill people. the car is structurally unsafe and god only knows how long it has been like that.

The transmission is shot at 115, 000 miles! just died on the interstate. my daughter was driving on the interstate and suddenly car died, she barely could get car on shoulder of the road. took car to our nissan mechanic and he said this year was known for bad transmissions.

Was concern about the seat it goes,up but leaks,down and ,rocks like it is broke, the airbag light keeps flashing and wont stop,jumpy accelertion, and replacing front brake can be costly. i bought this vehicle and according to internet by vin# printed out no recalls, shows now i see it had recalls what can i do to get this taken care of? driving down the road the seat felt like it was changing the height and i had to keep readjusting it, i then stopped and went to get out and it rocked. i weigh 100lbs so i could not have broken it.

The drivers seat is very wobbly is not stable. engine is making a noise unsure on how to describe and i believe there’s undercarriage rusting and the car is getting wet inside when it rains.

My vehicle was not moving at the time the light started flashing. the passenger air bag "off" light does not work unless i move the connector under the front right passenger seat. then the passenger air bag light will shut off after about 10 seconds. this is the same problem listed for the recall but my vehicle is not part of the recall. this seems to be a problem for many murano's not included in the recall.

I was traveling down the interstate, going about 70 mph. my vehicle didn't want to run properly. i was unaware of the issue, i thought it would straighten up after a few minutes. well, my car just shut down. i was lucky i made it to the shoulder of the highway before an accident happened. i had it towed to the shop in the town i reside in. he diagnosed it, and said nissan muranos were known for this to happen. he put it back together, as it had separated. i did some personal research on the problem, and saw there was a recall campaign for the generation 1 muranos (2003-2007), i then did a vin # check, and there was no known recalls for my vin. i also saw during research, that there were thousands of vehicles recalled for this issue. i reached out to nissan consumer affairs, they made me aware there was nothing that could be done due to the age and mileage of the vehicle. i then made them aware this was a big safety hazard for myself, and other motorists. they then transferred the case to a regional case specialist. the regional specialist, again, told me there was nothing they could do. i then, explained the importance of this problem. the regional specialist then transferred me to a supervisor. the supervisor then called me back, and told me yet again, there was nothing that could be done. this is just unbelievable to me that just because, by policy, they won't cover repairs that could lead to the extent of taking someones life. i have told them everything i included in this report. please advise. *js

In the past 2 weeks while driving my car, it randomly, completely shuts off. i have no electrical anything. my car will start right back up once i stop and turn the key. this happens several times anytime i try driving (just in the past couple of weeks) on the highway 70-80 mph or just down the street 25-40 mph and has also happened twice when i am making a turn! it is scary when i lose the ability to steer my vehicle.

Rear crossmember has rusted connecting control arms. causing suv to slide through curves and extreme camber in rear tires. wearing out new tires and almost causing me to wreck

Noticed there was something off about my car when my tires looked like they were tilting in. when i had it looked at they noticed that the entire back suspension frame was completly rusted out and broken in two places. i was told i was lucky that i hadnt lost the back end already and it was only a matter of a time or a bad bump away. my mechanic advised that my toddler and i are not to use this vehicle due to the increased potential of a serious accident. after doing some online research i found this has been a common issue with these cars and was surprised that there was not a recall on something as faulty and dangerous as this.

Was driving straight on hwy going 70 mph when i went over a normal hwy bump, felt a snap and could feel the back of the car fishtail. this fishtailing occurred a few days. was able to get it to the dealer where it was determined that the rear subframe had rusted and broke. repairs were $3-4k for a new subframe and labor and the car was unsafe to drive. filed complaint with nissan. also the brand new tires that were put on at 110k miles now need to be replaced due to the 4 days of wear because of the suspension issue.

On march 21st, i accidently hit a pot hole and my murano started making loud noises. took it to the mechanic who informed me that the frame is cracked and completely rotted out. vehicle is no longer driveable nor fixable. not to mention the undercarriage was sprayed prior to buying the vehicle.

My car was running perfectly fine until last night when it stopped acceleration as i was driving home from a friends house. it sort of "stalled" but was still on and running just wouldn't accelerate. never had a single glitch with my transmission before. i only have 111k miles on it. i'm regular with my maintenances. just started happening right out of the blue. i had a maximal before this and the transmission went on it but that made jerking movements before it died. there was nothing to indicate my transmission was about to die or was failing! when i look online there is constant complaints about yours transmissions failing on people right after they hit the 100k mark. there needs to be some kind of recall on your transmissions cause this is making me never want to buy another nissan ever again and to warn anyone who is interested in buying your cars!

While driving i heard a popping grating sound under the driver seat .seat twisted and sank on the left back section.i almost lost control of car.upon ckecking the left back of the seat was moving up and down.took it to body repair who sent me to upholsterer.he to me i have to get a seat.i ordered a used one online. so far it cost $425.00.waiting on it . ihave invoice

Car cuts off while driving. sometimes it wouldn't move. it would start again then cut off again. no radio, lights or anything. just dead. it has happened more than once. the latest incident was today 03/11/2018 7:30 pm.

Driving on a local highway doing about 35 to 40 mph. put on brakes and the entire rear end began to vibrate and make a rumbling noise. the rear tires are leaning inward on both sides of the vehicles which throws off the stabalization of the vehicle making it unsafe and difficult to steer or stop. the entire stabalization bar and the mounting brackets supporting it rusted through on the left side and dislodged and the right side is ready to dislodge from the body at any time. there is nothing to support the bar so it can inadventerly fall and hit the highway and do damage to the undercarriage of the car or cause the vehicle to flip. my mechanic told me the vehicle is unsafe to drive. they called nissan and of course no recall or assistance to fix the vehicle which is over 2000 dollars. the sun visor on the drivers side drops blocking your vision unexpectantly creating a vision issue and concentration issue while driving. the electrical motor on the drivers seat is starting to fail and the seat wobbles as it is being repositioned. once repair are complete and i have invoices, i will upload them under a separate complaint.

I was pulling out of a gas station when a friend pointed out that the muffler/exhaust pipes of vehicle were hanging very low to the ground. mechanic inspected it and rear subframe rusted through and broken. the rear wheels are worn on the inside and are misaligned. they are tilting in towards each other. the vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive. i contacted nissan consumer affairs. i was told that there was not a recall and that i would need to take the vehicle to a nissan dealership to have them look at it and for the repair. i was given a case # and asked to provide proof of ownership. i recently purchased the vehicle from a family member. as the car was inoperable i had aaa tow it to the nearest nissan dealership. the dealer quoted me an estimate repair cost of $5,279; parts and labor.

I had to replace my altenator 3 times. i bought the car 2 years ago at 90,000 miles. when it first went out, i bought one from autozone, then 4 months later is went out. i had a warranty thru autozone on the parts so the part was replaced but i had to cover the labor cost. 2 months later the altenator replace it again but i wanted labor cost covererd this time. they agreed to cover the part and labor. there must be an electrical problem with these cars. i ve read other owners of the same car having the same issue. if nissan doesn't fix this for free, i will never buy another of their cars because i can't believe multiple times. i had two different mechanic so it not the person, it's the car, i believe so. the other problem i've had it that the air duck intake hose keeps disconnecting, it will cause my car to miss file and run very ruff, like poor performance. it can make the car shut off while driving or at a stop sign.

Takata recall my entire subframe broke in two and my back two tires angle bad now. ot happened while i was driving, the vehicle started going all over the road, thankfully i wasn't going fast and stopped before i hit any trees or ditched it. i was on a paved road and didn't hit anything.

I was driving my car in the middle of traffic when i pushed on the gas and the vehicle wasn't moving anymore. the battery and brake light both came on. after a couple of minutes i was able to move my car to the side of the road by pushing on the gas. but the car wasn't moving fast. after a couple of minutes evrething came back to normal. my vehicle is in the mechanic shop right now and my mechanic told me the alternator is going bad. i will be replacing the alternator.

This car has an electrical problem. the dash board lighted components flicker back and forth from dim to bright when the headlights are turned on. the headlights when turning on go from really dim to normal when turning on. i have noticed this at night while driving. when going to buckle my son in his car seat the seat belts thin the rear lock and do not release. unless all the slack it it is returned to normal. which sometimes takes 3 to 4 times to be able to buckle him into his seat without the seat belt locking

Air bag lights are blinking after a person in the passenger seat was moving around in the seat. i had it checked at a body shop and a code came up (b 1049). detects a air bag diagnosis sensor and (or) air bag module. the car was running when the light came on. i don't remember if the car was in motion or not.

The left front lower ball joint is ready to fall out as well as the rear crossmember frame is broken in half on the right side.

Beginning about 1 month ago i noticed some unusual noise and movement of the driver’s seat while driving. the problem worsened quickly, making a crunching metal noise and becoming increasingly unstable during driving with the left rear of the seat moving up and down. it now moves with only slight manual pressure applied to the left side of the seat. upon investigating the structure under the seat, i found a support bracket weld has completely separated. the drastic movement of the seat seems dangerous, slightly changing the drivers position behind the wheel, possibly altering control of the vehicle, the position behind the airbag, and certainly affecting restraint in the event of a crash. online research shows many, many similar problems with this bracket weld, but nissan has not issued a recall. this poor quality part failed, could result in damage, injury, or death, but will require me to pay $1100 to fix.

Rear crossmember sub-frame cradle all rusty through and fail completely. it is broken in pieces. both rear tires are completly off allignment .

First it was the passenger side floors and then the driver side floors - front and rear - there is a substantial amount of water getting into the car. i had it looked at by the dealer and they assumed it was the sunroof - cleared the line. issue still went on. i did not know at first because the water got trapped under the rugs. i took it to another shop and they cleared the sunroof lines. i had it detailed and then put my rugs back down. this time i believe there was resulting mold in my car and is causing severe allergy issues for myself and my son.

My 2007 nissan murano suddenly begin acting like it wanted to shut of while on the highway. i would press the gas pedal about 3/4 down to the floor and there would be a few second lag before the rpm would rise and then suddenly jerk forward. i couldn't get my speed above 30 mph without the vehicle attempting to change gears on it own. then one day as i'm going to the grocery store i came to a stop at a traffic light. when the light turned green i slowly accelerated and suddenly my car jerked abruptly and came to a halt. at this point the vehicle was inoperable. the most embarrassing part is that i was 1/4 of the way in the intersection and i was holding up the traffic all three ways. a good police officer stopped behind me and called a towing company. i had to pay over $100 to get my car towed. on top of that i had to tow it to the transmission place to have it checked since the car would start and rev, but not move forward. the transmission shop said the cvt belt prematurely broke. after researching this seems to be a very common problem among vehicles with cvt transmission, especially the nissan murano's. my car has a little over 100,000 miles on it. with the number of complaints on this same issue i'm surprised nissan has not initiated a recall. this vehicle could have failed on the highway and is a very serious safety issue.

Driver's seat - the bracket in the rear left that supports the seat broke while driving. air bags - the air bag light is on and will not go away. when i purchased the vehicle in feb. 2016, the dealer assured me it was just a glitch in the display. engine - started running rough about a week ago, while we were headed out of town. cancelled that trip. threw a "cylinder 3 misfire" code. my husband replaced that plug and coil and it continued to run rough. today, it overheated and started dumping fluid on the ground. the suspension is also failing. when we hit a bump or pothole, it feels like the front end is going to fall off. i loved this car when we bought it and when it runs right, but right now, i am completely disgusted. i have only owned it for two months. i feel like we were robbed and we aren't in the financial standing to replace it.

While driving the power locks, windows, seat adjuster, alarm and lift gate stopped working. no power to the main window/lock switch on the drivers side.

While vehicle was under extended warranty, and at approximately 60,000 miles the driver side sun visor failed to stay in its stowed/raised position. driver side visor would drop rapidly into field of view unexpectedly and at the slightest road vibration as we traveled along. months were spent driving with left hand occupied as a tool to hold the defective visor up and out of visual field. while hands and complete attention are needed for safe vehicle operation, managing a faulty sun visor to maintain full view of road details is a serious distraction. distracted driving is recognized/documented by a multitude of accidents, often of deadly consequence. the defective driver's visor was replaced at our expense, no warranty, however, failed in the same irritating and dangerous manner in less than two years. for safety sake i'll most likely remove the defective visor and toss to trash before a third visor is purchased with same dangerous, visual-obstructing, built-in malfunction.

While i was driving i stopped at a restaurant and when i tried to roll my windows down, the power locks, windows, alarm, seat adjuster, brake pedal/accelerator, rear hatch stopped working. no power to the main window switch panel. just stopped working one day.

The power door locks on the front passenger door and trunk will not open when the weather is warm. the nissan dealer says the actuators are probably to blame and it is a common problem. the repair is about $600 per lock. there is no key hole to use to gain access from the outside. the only key access is the driver's door. this creates a safety problem, especially for trunk access by elderly folk, who have to climb into the trunk area to open the trunk.

"takata recall" my airbag icon started to blink. checked all connections and everything seems to connected. my wife uses this vehicles with my kids. concerned about the safety of my family.

I didn't have any issues with it until dropping my son off for school one morning in september. as i pulled off from the corner and then tried to make an immediate left turn, my car just stopped, steering wheel locked and i had to pull as hard as i could to finish the turn and not get hit by oncoming traffic. needless to say, i was terrified but glad that my son wasn't in the car at the time. for the past five months, my nissan murano just stops or stalls at random. it doesn't matter how slow or fast, whether i'm turning or not, it just turns off. i have to quickly turn the key to "off" and then try to quickly restart the car. i've had to struggle to pull the wheel to pull the car to the curb just to get out of the way of traffic. i've had my kids in the car and it’s happened with my husband as well, and he's driven on the expressway (which we will no longer try with that car). no help from nissan or nissan dealerships - just given the run around about very unsafe car.

When starting the car from a parked positioned after running a few errands during a slight ice/snow fall mid-morning and wipers did not move when activated. i turned the wipers on high and listened for the motor which was running but it seemed wiper were detached. i spent 2 days driving to and from work at night with rain and snow fall each way. i was dangerous but i could not call in. my family and i have been looking up this issue and apparently it is very common for many different types of nissans to have this linkage brake.

Following vehicle being in for coolant system repair, i entered vehicle driver side and found the seat moved forward to the extreme, i moved it back and sat down, right away i noticed the seat did not feel stable, was unsure if this was related to the recent work, began driving vehicle, went a short distance, driver seat was listing to the driver side of vehicle, and was unstable. i returned immediately to repair shop, of course late in day and closing time. i was told they would look at next day, low and behold, the bad news begins arriving about midmorning- the seat track is broken and will cost a significant amount of money to repair. during my drive back to repair shop next day, the seat feels very unstable and would not recommend driving this vehicle any length of time; creates a significant feeling that control of vehicle is not secure, due to seat instability. aren't seat suppose to last the life of the vehicle, what is all that money paying for?

The driver's side sun visor will not stay up and falls down into the field of vision of the driver. this is a known defect and nissan will not do anything about it. the equipment is defective and should be replaced under recall.

I recently purchased a 2007 nissan murano which i purchased on 5/5/2015. i felt comfortable moving forward with the purchase based on the carfax which stated no accident / damage reported , no total loss, no structural damage, no airbag deployment. after, going to a local gas station and purchasing the required octane. i pulled off into traffic safely and the car would not budge. terrified that i would get hit by on coming traffic, i jumped into action and put the car into reverse. i let out huge sigh of relief because, i was able to move in reverse. i caught my breath and noticed that the service engine soon. i took my car too a local autozone and the codes that i received are all transmission codes. after being instructed to have a diagnostic performed by a authorized nissan dealer, it was confirmed that i need a new cvt transmission, transfer case resealed. based on numerous complaints about the cvt transmission and the safety issues. i deem my car unsafe and nissan should be responsible to make any and all vehicles manufactured.

As i was driving in traffic (approximately 35 mph), i applied the brakes at the stoplight and there was a sudden loud sound coming from the engine. when i applied the gas, there was no power, but the engine continued to rev up. with cars flying by me, this was terrifying for me and my granddaughters. i took it to the dealership and they misdiagnosed the problem, twice. over the next few weeks, my murano began to randomly skip/hesitate with standard rpm and extremely high rpm. the local nissan dealership had my car for over a month, saying they had replaced the transmission. the only problem is the "problem " is there, still there. also there is no guarantee/warranty on warranted work. i now have nothing.and scared to drive my car that it will fail in traffic.

Seat frame weld broke under driver's seat. seat began to sway down & left and then swayed back up right causing a momentary loss of driving focus and fear of losing control of vehicle. fear compounded because my 3 year old granddaughter was in the car with me. after driving nervously home, i inspected seat to find a frame weld broken at a crucial weight bearing spot. the left rear corner of the seat was not even connected to the frame! i went to the internet, because the service department of action nissan never answered, to get any info on this. turns out there are hundreds of complaints about these defective seat frame welds. and the price is off the charts for this retired (nissan quality assurance inspector, smyrna plant). there has never been a recall of this problem! failure of a driver seat frame weld should be grounds for a recall! incredibly dangerous! i am really angry about this problem. this car was just ok for 95,000 miles. after that the high pressure power steering hose went out. the driver's side power window motor quit. neither of the sunvisors will stay up. dealer asking $135 each. prior to 95,000 miles, brakes x2, tires x2 sets, hatch shocks worn out, all upper and lower control arm bushings worn out, underbody shocks worn out, center cv boot/half shaft replaced, oe & dealer replacement wipers are a joke and up to now, 6 headlamp bulbs replaced (no, i didn't touch them). and the regular maintenance set forth by the manual; whew! i have spent thousands on service. i worked for nissan for 25 years, but i will never again buy a nissan product. please request nissan to recall the murano about the seat frame weld.

I was going down the highway and heard a noise and my driver seat went back and toward the window. i had to regain control of my car because when the seat frame broke i swerved and my foot fell off the gas pedal. when reading online i found that there was an investigation but no recall was issued. i also found that i am not the only one to have this problem. please revisit this issue and do something to protect not only the driver/passenger of the vehicle but the other motorists on the road before someone gets seriously hurt or worse. if it was my inexperienced 18 year old driving there would have surely been an accident.

I was driving to the store and as i turned the corner i heard a snap in the back of the drivers seat and the seat suddenly jerked to the back towards the drivers door and felt very unstable. it now moves quit freely and when i go over a bump or a dip or turn right, it moves toward the door. i was able to look under the seat with a light and it snapped right off the bracket that goes across the back of the seat. i will be seeking estimates on fixing it as it happened today and feels very unsafe when i go around a corner. *tr

Pulled out onto a roadway with a 60 mph speed limit. this vehicle is fast and has quick throttle response, so knowing that i could make it, while a car was approaching, i pulled out and accelerated quickly. the vehicle did not have near the power that it normally did and immediately made a loud screeching sound and clicking as if metal was scraping adjacent metal. luckily, i let off the accelerator and hit it again, and it operated fine. there was no accident and nobody was hurt. the problem has slowly persisted and gotten worse. that's what recalls are for and that is what research on this problem for this particular vehicle will tell you needs to happen. the recall needs to take place. do people need to die first? safety means avoiding injury. research the problem here and do what you can to resolve it for the affected vehicles. i've seen much less severe recalls take place. i'm about to have to take my vehicle in to pay for this myself, because out of the thousands of complaints on this issue that i can probably find, there has been absolutely no resolution, and i am not sure if it may have caused any injuries to anybody else, but will be researching everything about it. i will present a portfolio of information on this problem so that it cannot be denied, if i must. i will do your jobs if you will not, although i'm sure you have just not had enough complaints, or something of similar nature, and it will take me a long time, a lot of reading and saving and printing info. at the same time i will be writing bad reviews every chance i get about nissan not acknowledging responsibility for the problem, which i already have several times. *tr

I own a 2008 nissan murano while attempting to drive after a light change my vehicle loss acceleration. luckily, the car behind me didn't slam into me i was able safely get out of the way. the pedal was to the floor yet the car barley moved then it lurched forward and was fine. i took to a mechanic nothing a few weeks later after no issue it happen again on the highway which was dangerous and scary again i took this vehicle to a mechanic who said there was a leak at the transfer case i had repaired. two days later after being stuck in the middle of an intersection the vehicle was diagnosed to be an issue with the cvt transmission. i was told this is a defect nissan is aware of, they then told me about the known manufacturer issue of the transmission and suggested i bring it to nissan and see if they could do anything for me. i took the vehicle over to the local nissan dealership and was informed that there was nothing that nissan could do but to slap in another transmission and that it would not be covered by warranty since i was over the extended 120,0000 miles. they did give me the option to have them throw in a new transmission at cost of $4000. i then called nissan north america consumer affairs no response. this is a known manufacturer defect and nissan refuses to acknowledge the issue. research shows thousands of customers have the same issue; it is not a coincidence. it is a tactic played by nissan so they will not bare financial and reputation deterioration. instead they are putting that on the paying consumer. not right!! *js

I was driving down hwy 100 in milwaukee at approximately 40 mph when the car suddenly died in the middle of the road, fortunately no accident was caused because of the sudden stop. the car would not start after this stop. i pushed the car into a nearby parking lot and took the battery into a local hardware store. the battery was dead and needed to be charged. i re installed the battery and got the car started (the engine sounded loud) and drove to the auto store and had the alternator tested - it was dead. i started to drive the car home and it would not go above 30 mph and the cel was on. the next morning i had the alternator replaced (sunday), the battery kept it's charge. i took the vehicle to the nissan dealer on monday morning - they determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. i got my car back after 2 weeks and drove it home. i did notice that the there was a slight whine - i thought it was with the replaced transmission. i got louder each dayand i took it back to the nissan dealer, but the noise would quit after it warmed up. the nissan dealer determined that it was the high pressure power steering hose. these events appeared to be caused by a previous event - (1) alternator (2) transmission (3) high pressure power steering hose, all started november 27 2014, and lastly ended on february 10, 2015, hopefully. *tr

I was driving on the freeway. i heard a pop and the seat tilted to the left. my first instinct was to swerve and i narrowly missed hitting the center divider. once i calmed down and recovered, i drove home. i probably should not have done that. when i came home, i looked underneath the seat and observed the seat bracket assembly cracked at the weld. i contacted the dealer and was told that this is very common. i am not sure what very means. cost of repair is $1700-2500. he recommended going to a body shop to have the part welded back together. *tr

Kept noticing smell of burning oil. was told the axle seal was leaking. after the 2nd axle seal was replaced, they said it was a transfer case seal that was leaking and i would need to have that replaced at approximate cost of $1500. at that time i told the dealer that during cold weather i had issues with the transmission (which has an extended warranty to 120,000), and i'm sure the transmission has caused the transfer case problems, but, of course, upon the dealer testing the transmission they said that the transmission is working fine. i was told that the transfer case leak was not something that had to be repaired immediately and that as long as the fluid levels were checked frequently i could wait to have it repaired. yesterday (4 months later) i took the car to another nissan dealer and i was told that the axle seal and the transfer case seal were both leaking and that there was a service bulletin issued detailing that the transfer case should be rebuilt. the cost now will be approximately $1800, to fix the seals and rebuild the transfer case. after searching online about this issue i've realized this is an ongoing problem with nissan murano's and that nissan is ignoring the safety issues involved with this problem and not issuing a recall. with so many complaints about this same issue on the murano's an investigation needs to be done and nissan needs to recall these cars for the safety of their customers. *tr

Got in the vehicle and the seat frame broke (driver's seat - left rear). this is going to happen with every 2003-2007 sometime. nissan needs to recall. this is a safety issue. someone will be killed if this happens while driving. this is a $1,200 repair from the dealer. i didn't get it fixed yet. help!! *tr

While adjusting the drivers side power seat, something in the power seat mechanism appears to have broke and the seat in now uneven, and feels like it is coming off the rails especially when going into a curve, where you must hang onto the steering wheel for balance which causes undue anxiety for fear of losing control. the seat feels like it is off the rails, and when i use the power seat adjuster, it only lifts one side of the seat. this happened over 2 years ago at about 45,0000 miles. i now have 70,000 miles. i have learned if you keep the seat adjusted so that its closest to the floor, then there is less of a feeling that the seat is coming off, than if the seat is adjusted to a higher position. i have chosen not to get this repaired solely due to the $1,100 expense which it appears to cost to repair this safety issue. it's an annoying issue, it reminds me of the ford i had as a teenager that i had to use rope to keep the driver door shut. *tr

There has been oil leaking from my oil tank for over a year. i went to a shop and they told me it is the o-ring or seal on the oil tank and that they tend to go on this model car. it is a $400 fix. if this is common in the muranos it should be a recall, we shouldn't have to responsible for the cost. *tr

Rear hatch stopped working. since it can only be opened from the inside (with the panel removed) this is a safety issue. there is no handle on this year model that will work without electrical assistance. when the open button is pushed (either from inside the car or on the key fob) there is no sound indicating that the rear hatch is being contacted at all. we have tried replacing the fuse and a control module but neither of those have corrected the issue. there absolutely should be a manual latch on the rear hatch so that it can be opened without the assistance of the electrical system. *tr

Driver's side sun visor will no longer stay in place and is a safety issue. it will flop down at any time while driving. it has progressively gotten worse and now i will have to remove it completely. it appears that this is a common problem that is not being addressed. *tr

2007 nissan murano s sun visor both driver as well as passenger mal-function. i choose visibility/wiper because the sun visor obstructs vision (*visibility*) when it drops down in view while driving at no given warning. its dangerous and would have caused an accident if there was a vehicle coming from opposite direction at the time of occurrence. the cost of these sun visors are expensive and nissan should recall these or at least fix them at no cost. *tr

Entered driver's side of vehicle, sat in seat, and heard a snapping/breaking type noise. in sitting on the seat it began to wobble and was on a slant. had to place a piece of wood to level it off so i could use my vehicle. *tr

First problem was the driver side visor which kept flopping down causing a hazard blocking the driver's vision. second problem happen later, the driver seat broke while driving, left rear bracket broke. call and wrote to nissan customer service and was told both problems were out of warranty and they would not honor my claim. this is the third nissan that i have owned, and will never buy another nissan product. for a vehicle that has less than 100k miles to have these problems and for nissan not to cover the problem shows a true lack of customer service. *tr

Passenger seat occupant control unit failed and airbags will not work in case of an accident. cost of repair is $3950 at 77.5k miles. on june 30, 2014 we noticed the airbag light flashing and brought the car to my repair facility paying $99 for diagnosis, who said the passenger seat would need replacement and they recommended we work with nissan to see if they would assist through a recall or other means due to the fact that the cost of the repair is half the value of the entire car which only has 77.5k miles. i went to arlington nissan and paid another $120 for same diagnosis. i had an open ticket with nissan asking them to escalate the situation to receive financial help in getting this repair done for the safety and well being of my family and knowing other cars have been recalled for this very same issue. on 7-9-2014 i was told by nissan supervisor (sue) the same that all others had told me, they unfortunately can do nothing to assist with this situation even though they empathize. i have had numerous repair issues when the car reached 5 years and the cost of repairs for this car is horrendous. (i.e. headlight $200+, driver seat $4000, etc...) i informed them that i will be filing a complaint, i will be telling everyone i know my bad experiences with nissan, and that i will never be purchasing a nissan again. *tr

I was driving home and i heard a loud pop and my drivers side seat fell into the drivers side door and i swerved into oncoming traffic. thankfully, there were no cars that were close and no accident occurred. i called the dealer in my town and found out it was going to cost $1400.00 to fix the issue. i called salvage yards and could only find a seat in a town 4 hours away so it would cost extra to have the seat shipped here ($300.00). in my research i found out it has been a common problem and decided to look to see if there had been a recall. i read all of the complaints on this same issue and others from this page and determined to take it to a local welder and have the frame welded based on the fact that the chair would break again even if the part had been replaced with a new or used part. the guy at the shop told me that the frame supporting the seat was paper thin. he could fix it and beef it up so that the problem would not happen again. it cost $159.00 to fix and at this time it is working quite well. i am saddened to find out that nissan will not stand by their product and fix this issue! i have told everyone i know so that they could pass on the information to friend's who have nissan's. i am afraid to continue to drive this car due to the other issues these cars have based on some of the complaints i have read on this site. *tr

My vehicle hatch back will not open unless i use the emergency lock which is located inside the vehicle. this concerns me because if there was an emergency where i would need to open the rear hatch from the outside i wouldn't be able to. *tr

My drivers side visor has started flopping down into my line of vision. whether it's forward toward the windshield or up against the roof's interior. it's gotten progressively worse and is a serious concern, especially when my 6'0 husband is driving. *tr

3 year old child was appropriately buckled into car seat in the back seat. she managed to reach the seat belt and put it around her neck. her older brother noticed this and started yelling at mother who was driving. mother pulled over and tried to remove the seat belt but it had locked. mother flagged down passerbys. fortunately, this occurred on a us military base overseas where first aid kits are required in all vehicles including trauma shears. the trauma shears were used to cut the seat belt away from her neck. the child did sustain bruising and injuries to both the front and back of her neck, but no long term problems. this is a physician who is filing the report as i evaluated the child for her injuries. *tr

The driver side visor has become loose and will fall while you are driving. it happens intermittently. this is unsafe for drivers traveling on the highway. our other option is to remove it, then you risk the sun in your eyes driving east/west. dealership wants to charge over 400.00 to replace this item. it should be viewed as a safety concern. *tr

1. this is safety hazard and my biggest concern driver seat, left bracket broke. i was told by nissan dealer this is common problem but not covered by my platinum extended warranty which i purchased at team nissan in oxnard, ca i was also told the entire seat needs to be replaced to fix this problem. i have seen online that many people have had the same part break. i would hate to think about how this seat might break completely loose in a crash causing the driver to be propelled out the front windshield & possibly killed. nissan needs to recall & fix this part! 2. passenger front window goes up & down randomly. .i have to keep the windows locked so it doesn't go down making my car vulnerable for theft because more than a few times i came out in the morning to find it down. also, when trying to put it up, once it closes it then rolls right back down. 3. electric door locks sometimes don't all lock with key fob. usually driver door & sometimes other doors don't lock when using key fob. i have to check all four doors every time i lock the car. *tr

While driving on four lane blvd the engine sudden cut off at a major intersection. i was lucky not to be hit by truck behind me, i had no prior warning no engine light, rough idle etc. the 2007 nissan murano sudden engine cut off need to be investigate because this could have been a fatality. *tr

The oil pan is so corroded that the oil bleeds through the bottom of the oil pan. there is an enamel or powder type coating on the oil pan that is gone. it's only 7 years old and should not happen with the vehicle being as new as it is. oil pan should be a sturdy part of your car as it on the bottom of the engine and holds critical fluids. this type of leak could be a fire safety issue. *js

I got into my car to drive somewhere, and noticed that my seat was loose and shifting back and forth - from side to side. i thought that there was a loose bolt, and so i took the car to the dealership on 2/21, and i was told that it was a broken lifter assembly - and that the repair would be $625. i immediately asked if there was a recall because the definitely appeared to be a "safety issue", and i was told that there was not. i have done my research on line, and i see where this is and has been a very common complaint for several years, for what appears to be for models 2003 thru 2007, at least. i found pages and pages of complaints from many people. we all have the same opinion that this is a manufacturers defect, and should be repaired at the expense of nissan. i have owned many different models of cars in my lifetime, and a seat breaking in this manner has never happened. my husband is a firefighter, and his first response was concern that the way the seat shifts now, could cause a seatbelt to injure or possibly decapitate a person during a car crash. he has seen many unusual things happen in his career, so i don't believe this is far fetched from the reality of something terrible to happen to a person driving their car with a broken driver's seat. i was prepared to pay for a bolt to be replaced, not to have to pay for my seat to be completely repaired, in order to keep me and my family safe. a seat should be made to endure the day in and day out of the weight of people - large and small, for the life of the vehicle. i am under 200lbs, and my husband is 250lbs. we bought the car with the mindset that it would be strong and durable to last for many, many years to come, without the worries that our seats could break so easily. thank you for your time. *tr

On 2/23/14, i notice there was what appeared to be oil leaking from my truck. i took it to the dealer on 2/26/14, it was the it was the pressure holes leaking which have caused other problems. rack and pinion (r) side, replace fuel sender two parts. september of 2013, i had to have both right and left control arm repair. this should be a recall and the customer should not have the responsibility of expense. *tr

It was a chilly winter afternoon and i had just pulled out of a business parking lot into traffic. the speed limit was 30mph and i was slowly getting up to speed. the traffic light changed to red and when i applied the brakes, nothing happened. it was like i was pressing against a solid wall. i had to swerve around cars, honking my horn as i couldn't stop. i managed to pull into another parking lot while repeatedly trying to apply the brakes. the brakes finally released after about 1 minute of pumping. this has happened approximately 10 more times since then. the dealer states that there is no issue with brakes and this is something they've never dealt with. it cannot be replicated once car has been running for more than 10 minutes. *tr

I was driving on the freeway when i suddenly noticed my steering wheel was upside down. luckily, i could still steer and i immediately took it to the dealer where i had purchased the car and an extended warranty. i had not been involved in any kind of accident, but in trying to figure out what happened i thought i might have gone over a curb while turning right and it may have jarred something. the dealer latched onto this thought and said i broke the steering column when i went over the curb. they would not cover the repair, despite the extended warranty. i just don't believe it. how could going up on a curb and dropping down--from a stop--break the steering column? the dealer said i need to "replace the steering rack and replace the cable reel." my insurance paid another company for repairs and they replaced the "gear assembly." since i don't know what any of this means, i am writing the invoice's direct quotes. i really believe there is/was a defect in the car. has anyone else had this problem? *tr

The vehicle was not driving well and the fuel sensor was not working properly. we took the vehicle to an independent repair shop. the lower control arms were replaced at that time, however the fuel sensor was not as it was an additional expense we could not pay for out of pocket. these are both known problems to nissan and have already been recalled on other suv's of the same model year. in speaking to nissan there is nothing they are willing to do to ensure the safety of the vehicle or to reimburse us for the repair already made. *tr

Driving down the road at 45 mph and heard a snapping noise and felt my drivers seat wobble. was able to pull into the parking lot of my grandson's school and got out of the car and noticed that my drivers seat was titled to the left and rocking back and forth. had the car towed to the dealership and was told that the steel frame of the seat needed to be completely replaced. fortunately for me that i did not have an accident where i could have seriously been injured or worse yet that i injured someone else. the cost for the repair was $1450. i contacted nissan customer care who for assistance with funding of this repair and was told that seats are only warranted for 3 years and they were unwilling to provide any monetary assistance. i do not consider this as being normal wear and tear of a vehicle and am extremely disappointed that nissan is not willing to stand behind their product. i appealed this decision with nissan customer care and they are still unwilling to assist me with funding. what a shame, they have certainly lost a valued nissan customer. checking the internet, specifically your website nhtsa, it appears that there have been an extreme large number of complaints of the murano drivers seats breaking. why has this issue not been defined as a factory defect and a real safety issue. how many complaints will it take, to make nissan to issue a recall. someone needs to do something and am hoping that nhtsa will do an investigation and force nissan to take this issue seriously. a car with only 69 thousand miles on it and 7 years old should not need a drivers seat replaced unless involved in an accident. hope to hear something favorable in the near future. not that this matter, but i am a senior us citizen and i do not intend to be treated in this manner, nor should anyone else. please help *tr

I purchased my 2007 murano in august 2011. from the date of purchase, i've had multiple issues. the brakes have been a constant issue, i've had to replace the front struts (before 60,000 miles) and was told that i need to replace the rear shocks as soon as possible, the driver side visor is broken, 2 months ago it began leaking oil for some unknown reason, and now the front seat is broken, causing the left hand side of the seat to 'float'. i weigh 140 lbs so it's not like i've caused any undue stress on the seat. the vehicle currently has 70,000 miles. i cannot afford to make all the repairs - but cannot sell it until i do make them (who in their right mind wants to purchase a car that needs $2500 poured into it for repairs, with new issues occurring on a regular basis). it's a shame that nissan can produce something of such poor quality and not be forced to stand behind their product. this is the worst car i've ever owned. if i can ever get rid of this it i'll never own another nissan. *tr

Went in for high pressure hose replacement and came out with air bag light flashing. dealer (wolfchase nissan) would not own up to it being a problem. frustrated that nissan did not recall the 07 as they should have all cars, etc with that same specification instead of a few. hundreds of thousands have complained but nothing seems to be done for the 07 models. should a consumer have to lose a life due to a faulty sensor or whatever the issue with the passenger seat cushions or modules? nissan knew the issue exist but doesn't want to own up to this recall. i'm begging for an investigation regarding this issue. people have lost lives due to errors with the air bag and i personally don't want to be the next victim. if dealer expects me to pay $1200.00 for something that i did not cause, they are truly mistaken. i will raise my voice to the heavens before that happen. please investigate this matter. *tr

I was driving on the road at approximately 30 miles an hour when i notice the engine was revving at a higher speed with no change in acceleration. i brought the car to bay ridge nissan and they replaced the cvt transmission for $500, even i though i have an existing warranty. i have contact nissan corporate and i haven't heard from them. i am filing a complaint because a lot of nissan owners, including myself, have been experiencing this problem. *tr

First noticed it kept popping out of all wheel drive in a snow storm while driving 15 mpr. next issue was driving on the interstate at 65rpm the speed kept decellerating or sticking like it had a govanor on it at 65. now i can not drive it for more then twenty minutes without it decellerating. it won't shift just sticks at 3rpm and the speed will not increase. took it to the dealer three times. first time they said it was a bad battery. second time they hooked it up to check engine machine. it did not throw a code so they said it was saft to drive. coming down a mountain it started bucking and speed decellerated very quickly. thankfully i was not hit from behind. seems like a transmission problem to me but having a hard time getting nissian to replace it. very scary and unsafe. *tr

Transfer case leak on 2007 nissan murano sl awd, 3-4 months after warranty expired. nissan is refusing to fix it. heat produced in cvt is causing sealant in the transfer case and ultimately transfer case to break. nissan extended the cvt warranty but refuse cvt is causing the transfer case to break and was not covered my cvy extended warranty. *tr

Driver seat anchor failure driver seat collapsed towards driver door while driving from pa. to fl. on i-95. loud pop under seat when incident occurred. i will have it repaired before i return to pa. according to your bulletin: nhtsa / pe 08065. the number of complaints are high but you closed this issue on 7/2/09. if you look further you will find this problem has been going on since 2005 with only several accidents reported. no fatalities yet. please check the arfc web site for another 267 complaints. this finding needs to be reopened and is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. had i not reacted swiftly while in motion i would not be sending you this complaint, my attorney would with a copy to my congressman and nissan. *tr

When i turned my engine off, got out the truck and locked the doors the vehicle turned back on without me being in the truck or putting the key in the ignition. i do not have an auto starter. this happened on three different occasions. the first time we didn't even recognize it happened and it drained the battery, the second time we thought we were hallucinating and the last incident on monday, july 15, 2013, it was 8:30 am and i was exiting the vehicle to go in to my place of employment when the vehicle turned back on. i instantly thought i locked the keys in the truck when i noticed they were in my hands. i unlocked the doors tried turning it off three times and finally on the fourth try it stayed off and didn't turn back on. i felt bad because i thought my daughter was trying to scare me about the car starting on its own. there's also an issue with the car pulling to the right all by itself. *tr

Power steering fluid leak - hard to turn steering ,loud noise from steering pump because no fluid present - looks like power steering hose leak - did some research online and it is very common in murano 2003-2007 - obviously nissan wont recall it even when you have whole forums online and hundreds of people complaining about same thing. *tr

The drivers side visor slowly started dropping on its own. my visor will stay up sometimes but given a little time it will never stay up. i read of this in other model years but never experienced it in mine until the last 4 months. and now it has gone from an annoyance to a liability. if i crash because of this i'm suing the he'll out of nissan as it's a known issue and they won't fix it. never encountered a similar issue in the 7 other vehicles i've owned. *tr

While driving on the highway, my situational awareness was extremely compromised when my driver's side sun visor inadvertently came down and would no longer stay in the upright position. i had to drive with it this way for the rest of my trip (over 2 hours) with heavy rain. it was dangerous as my visibility was substantially obstructed with the visor. a quick search in the internet revealed that this is a somewhat common occurrence due to poor visor design and nissan seems to be overlooking the issue. replacement visors are several hundred dollars and seem to fail alike in the same spot (the arm headliner attachment). if nissan won't re-engineer the part to correct the problem, they should replace it free of charge. this is a safety issue bound to reoccur. *tr

Left visor keeps falling down causing restricted view. at first i thought i was the only one that had this complaint, but reading the bulletin boards it is a common problem. i feel this is a safety hazard which nissan refuses to take responsibility for. i know two other owners that have encountered the same problem. one of the removed the visor because it was too expensive to fix. could you please look into this. the interior is not listed on your choices so i picked body. thank you so much. *tr

The drivers seat bracket failed prematurely. the drivers seat broke towards the back left corner closest to the passenger door and the seat currently rocks corner to corner. the welding of the frames cross member snapped apart while in park, right before putting the vehicle in drive. this issue could have happened while driving and is a huge concern and apparently (according to others online) is a common defect/flaw of the 2003-2007 muranos. *tr

While driving to work i heard a loud pop inside the car and all of a sudden the drivers seat leaned to the back left and i had to brace myself and the car from swerving. as i continued to drive the seat kept rocking side to side on the left . when i got to work and parked i noticed the seat was tilted and lose. this is extremely dangerous to anyone driving as i almost got into an accident when bracing myself as a result of the seat breaking. this is a serious safety issue that needs to be repaired by nissan. *tr

While driving along the drivers side visor dropped down blocking my view. just as this happened the car in front of me hit the brakes to stop and i couldn't see the brake lights! i came within inches of running into the back of their car! i can't afford what the dealer charges for a replacement visor and it's difficult to always remember to keep one hand on the visor as i drive! i'm worried that this will cause an accident, not only for me but for other nissan owners too. *tr

I was driving my murano today when all of a sudden i heard a loud pop and then my seat began to rock. the left frame on the driver's side had broken and i did not think this was possible. i see from this website that there are many other murano drivers out there that this is happened to and that they have contacted nissan and they didnt care! this is a major safety issues and it this problem needs to be recalled and fixed! this is totally unacceptable and nissan should be ashamed! they are putting our lives and others are risk! heaven forbid that the right side of the frame go. i am calling nissan tomorrow! there should be a class action suit against them! i will never buy another nissan again! they should not make the consumer responsible for their shotty work and they should fix it for free! *tr

Seat frame part failure. at first the seat leaned then within a few days broke. this must be a huge safety issue that can cause an accident if it breaks while driving or accident occurs before seat is fixed. i spoke to a few nissan dealerships who were all fully aware and have seen this same broken part often. nissan does not cover this part. i feel this should be recalled asap due to the safety issue. nissan should pay for this repair. *tr

I first noticed a "burning rubber smell" that mechanics could not duplicate. at about 80,000 miles the car began to lose power when i would accelerate. i began hearing a loud squealing noise that to me (a total car novice) sounded like belts. because of the power surges problems and not changing gears (rpms were low when i accelerate) i have been afraid to drive this vehicle. when i took it to the dealership (instead of my local mechanic) i was told to leave it there because it was unsafe to drive. apparently it is a "transfer case" defect that they are going to repair at a huge expense to me. after searching the internet for this problem with other murano owners, i was shocked at the number of murano transfer case problems there are out there. i have definitely lost my confidence in nissans because of this. *tr

After i bought my 2007 murano from a reputable dealer, my airbag light started flashing. i took it to nissan to have them tell me what it was. they told me that the passenger seat cushion and diagnostic module needed replaced. they told me it would cost me almost $3000.00 to fix the airbag sensor. after further research, i have discovered that there are many, many others that have this same issue. i know there was a recall for this type of problem but i am wondering why the 07 and 08 model year muranos were not included in the recall. this is how the initial recall looks including the 07, 08, and 09 muranos- vehicle make / model: model year(s): infiniti / ex35 2008 infiniti / g35 2007-2008 infiniti / g37 2008 nissan / 350z 2007-2008 nissan / altima 2007-2008 nissan / altima hybrid 2007-2008 nissan / murano 2007-2009 nissan / rogue 2008 followed by the summary of the recall that explains the exact problem but excludes the 2007-2008 murano models. what do we have to do to get nissan to extend the recall for the rest of us that got left out of the recall process. the same system was used in the 2007-2008 muranos but not sure how they were left out.??? *tr

The transfer case is leaking on the hot exhaust pipe. there is common failure of the transfer case seals in all nissan muranos from 2004-2008...there are many people complaining of this problem and quick search on this issue on the internet produces a vast number of complaints. the transfer case seal starts leaking on all these models and the trans-axle fluid drips on the very,very hot exhaust manifold pipe just below the seem of the transfer case where it mates with the cvt. the cvt is covered under a 120,000 mile warranty but nissan claims that the transfer case portion is not. regardless the is a serious safety issue as it could potentially start a fire and subsequent loss of the vehicle, the property around it or a loss of life from a fire. i would appreciate if nhtsa would investigate this issue to the fullest. there are reports that the loss of fluid has caused loss of control of the vehicle as well....this is a serious safety issue....in addition the cost of repairs exceeds 3000.00 dollars. *tr

As i was driving on the highway, the car either accelerated or decelerated even though i maintained steady pressure on the gas pedal. i did take it for repair at my local nissan dealership. luckily, i had purchased the extended warranty and was still within the warranty time frame. my car was at the dealership repair shop for over 8 weeks. i was told that 2 new transmissions were placed in my car and then there was a problem with the wiring harness. although it was "fixed" it has not driven quite the same. now i am hearing a strange sound from my engine and think i'm in for another round of repairs. i am out of the warranty period and want to know if nissan corp. has issued a recall. *tr

Car stalled 3 times, once in the middle of a busy intersection and twice on the freeway almost getting into several car accidents do to intake coming apart. took the car to dealers to get fixed found out the car was a recall, wasn't happy about that. the car salesmen did not tell me it was recalled. otherwise i would have reconsidered getting this vehicle. *tr

My check engine light is on constantly so take it to a mechanic who tells me that nissan has an ongoing problem with its fuel sensors for years and years on many of its models and has ignored it. now i'm required to make the repairs on a faulty part to the tune of $655 because my car won't pass inspection otherwise. nissan has put out a service bulletin (ntb07-069a) for code p0463 but won't help at all with this outrageously expensive repair. called the dealership and my warranty doesn't cover repairs either. faulkner nissan, harrisburg, pa sounded like i was the 100th person calling about this issue and they wanted nothing to do with me. i am single mother, working full time, saving to send a daughter to college. i take good care of my nissan murano knowing it is vital to my ability to provide for my family. i will now need to break the law to drive it to get to work because i don't have $655 for the repairs. this is downright wrong. nissan should stand by its product and fix this issue. please help. *tr

Drivers side sun visor will unexpectedly drop down from the horizontal position when vehicle goes over minor bump impairing the drivers vision. sudden and unexpected loss of visibility can result in a major accident as the driver is unable to see in front of them until they are able to push the visor back up to the horizontal position. *tr

Faulty sun visor drops easily when going over minor bump. it can easily cause an accident or crash when distracted to raise the sun visor to the normal position. this is a problem in nissan murano's everywhere. i am not sure how this has not been a recall yet. *tr

I was driving on the highway when the incident occurred. i brake because there was traffic ahead when all of a sudden i felt a pop and the seat dipped down and back. i almost crashed due to the distraction of the seat braking and bracing myself so that i didn't fall. the seat then began to rock back and forth. i had to sustain the seats with bricks underneath the seat so that i can be able to drive. i immediately went to the dealer and the response from the dealer was that they are aware of the issue and that the other replacement seats have the same issue. he basically told me "don't waste your money on a new seat because it will happen again". this is a very serious safety hazard and is beyond me that nissan will not do a recall on this! it is amazing that someone has to die in order for something to happen. *tr

When the temperature is less than 30 degrees, it appears that the pipes/hoses by which the windshield washer fluid circulates to the front windshield freeze. the windshield washer fluid is fine, but the driver can't wash the windshield because the window washer fluid doesn't come out. this presents a very dangerous condition when it snows and the streets have been treated. the slush/dirty snow floating from other cars sticks to the windshield, and the windshield glass gets very dirty to the point that the driver can't see where he/she is driving. i have called nissan and they recommended taking the car to a garage and keeping it running for two hours until the pipes thaw out. i don't have a garage, i am at work, and i need to drive back home in a slushy snowy day, but i can't wash the windshield with the window wipers because the fluid is not coming out to be able to wash it. frankly, i am afraid to drive back home. the pipes need two hours to thaw out. it is unbelievable! my ride to work is 30 minutes. *tr

The drivers seat left rear frame connector just broke. its a metal piece that supports the weight of the seat and connect to the seat track. now, my seat wobbles left and right and some front to back without the support. *tr

While driving home after work on the interstate i heard a pop and the driver seat collapsed toward the driver door. after almost colliding with a vehicle in the adjacent lane i came to a safe stop on the shoulder and investigated the driver seat. i was able to move the seat 4-5 inches form the left rear toward the right front quadrant. i lowered the seat which took some of the play out of the seat and finished the drive home. after further investigation the metal seat frame had broken loose at two brackets. i'm still researching safe alternatives to fix the seat frame. the nissan dealer told me they had a tsb on the seat and the replacement frame had the same fatigue issues. this known deficiency by nissan is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed. *tr

Murano began leaking from the power steering hose. felt like i was driving a 18-wheeler. impossible to turn. made a loud screeching noise. complained to nissan. they initially promised to repair the hose but then backed down and (are you ready for this) offered to sell me a new nissan at dealer cost. i'm the 2nd owner and the car was initially purchased in 2006. this is a deadly problem and a factory defect. nissan has chosen to ignore it and most probably finds it less expensive to litigate any deaths as a result of the power steering hose failure rather than recall the murano. *tr

I noticed power steering fluid on the concrete under my vehicle. a mechanic told me my hose was leaking and i found out it cost about $500.00 to fix. i checked with nissan dealer to see if there was a recall. he told me no. there should be a recall on this problem because it is dangerous. the fluid is all underneath my vehicle. the fluid could ignite by hitting the exhaust pipe or anything hot. *tr

While driving on a major interstate, with my visor pushed forward toward the windshield to block the sun, the driver's side visor falls into my line of vision. this causes me to swerve while entering a curve and just miss another vehicle. i quickly push up the visor and to my dismay, it will not stay upright; neither upright towards the windshield nor upright towards the ceiling. the dealership states this is not a recall and is not covered under the warranty. i have looked at multiple threads and spoken with multiple friends who have all had this same issue with the 1st generation nissan muranos (2003-2008). this is a safety issue and both driver's side and passenger's side visors should be recalled and replaced before someone gets hurt! *tr

Nissan dealer informed me that the transfer case seal is broken and needs to be resealed. only nissan has serviced the transmission fluid. this seems to be a nissan continuously variable transmission (cvt)-related problem. the car has 66,000 miles on it, and the warranty on the cvt was previously doubled to 120,000 miles. the original warranty was for 60,000 miles. however, nissan alleges that the transfer case is unrelated to the cvt and therefore, not covered by the extended warranty. this seems to be disingenuous, at best. from polls and threads i've seen, it seems that this is a frequent problem in muranos and nissan is attempting to put up a wall instead of accepting responsibility. it seems that there is a widespread problem that has been going on for the duration of the murano life cycle, across the years, and as is somewhat typical of powertrain problems, they don't manifest for a number of years and miles. the threads indicate that resealing the transfer case (for an exorbitant $1250) only staves off the failure and that it occurs again. this recurring problem eventually manifests in failure of the cvt itself. in that case it costs in the range of $6500 to repair. there seems to be a design flaw here that should be addressed. if the cvt seizes up on the road it could certainly be a major safety issue. *js

I was getting into the vehicle when i heard a loud crack and the drivers seat started to wobble. sure enough like dozens of other "victims" the front bracket connecting the seat to the frame snapped. thank goodness i was parked when this happened. luckily. i was able to have the dealership weld the seat frame together, but they admit it probably will not hold for long. nissan is well aware of this issue and refuses to do anything about it except force their customers to pay $1000 or more to have the seat replaced. they claim it is not a safety issue, so unfortunately i guess it will take someone getting killed and the subsequent lawsuit to get their attention. poor design on something that should not wear out over the life of the car and worse yet is the manufacturer's attitude toward their customer base for a known and well documented flaw. *tr

This is a follow up to my previous complaint, which documented the sudden collapse of the driver's seat in my nissan murano. in 2009, nhtsa ruled that this defect was not a safety issue, based on the fact that only three minor injuries had been reported. however, i recently came across information that the bisnar chase law firm has filed two auto products liability lawsuits against nissan -- one for a catastrophic injury and the other for a fatal injury -- which appear to be directly related to the nissan driver's seat defect. the information appears on the law firm's website, as well as on those of some news organizations. in light of this recent information, i recommend that nhtsa re-open its investigation, in order that this very dangerous defect can be resolved prior to any additional fatalities and/or catastrophic injuries. *tr

There was a pop and the left side of the drivers seat dropped down slightly. when i tried to adjust only right side of the seat would move up or down. looking on the internet this seams to be a big problem for nissan in these model years. reference service bulletin bt05-12d ntb085-043d dated december 16, 2009. if the seat was to fall back in would have caused an accident. *js

My wife took the kids out of the car to the house and return to put the murano'07 into the garage. when she sat in the seat it was loose and felt that it had broken. she said it felt loose when she went to pick up the kids. i checked the seat and it was broken on the bottom beam that supports the cushion to the seat. this should not have happened just from seating in the seat. also, took the vehicle to a nissan dealer and they stated that the seat assembly needs to be replaced which will cost about $1500.00. this is an outrageous price to pay for something that should have not broken from normal use. *js

Seat lifter failed to raise the seat on left side side while the right side worked. dealer states this is a common failure for the murano (along with seat rails breaking). this is a safety issue as a driver needs the seat to be the right height to see out the windows and be able to use the mirrors. this should be covered by a recall on all affected nissan vehicles. *tt

A leak developed and progressively got worse. it was determined it was power steering fluid. i put the car on the lift and it looked to be coming from one of the hoses. after reading these previous complaints, i figured it probably was the high pressure hose. indeed it was, the repair cost being $500. i contacted nissan consumer affairs and filed a complaint. i don't expect any compensation, as they told me it would be based on how much service i had done previously at the dealer. i do my own maintenance, oil changes (i only use mobil1), so it would be based on whatever previous problems i had that i took it to the dealer to resolve. this car has only 31400 miles on it, and just went out of warranty. *tr

The sun visor drops down and blocks view while driving. the visor will not stay up and so we have to hold it while driving.

The driver's seat frame broke in my 2007 nissan murano. fortunately at the time my seat snapped i had parked my car in the driveway and was getting out; had i been going down the freeway at 65 mph the result could've been much worse. after a thorough look we found a metal support bracket on the back left side of the chair snapped in two resulting in a chair that was unstable and rocked. this problem is well known to nissan. a look at murano forums will demonstrate that many people are having the same issue and the cost to replace or repair the seat is considerable. *tr

Driver's side power seat will not move forward or backward anymore. it is stuck at the far back position. nissan says that the part replacement would cost around $1000 plus labor. this is not a part that is supposed to wear out and too expensive. it is a safety hazard not to be able to move the seat forward, but i can't afford to spend $1300 to fix this issue. from a forum online, it appears that many, many people have had this same problem with the nissan murano driver's seat and nissan is refusing to accept this as a design flaw and fix them. *tr

Tried to adjust the seat and heard a large crack. seat has never worked well again. seat is like a weeble wooble. it leans to the right. nissan has to know about this problem, construction problem with these particular models and years.

There is a local used auto dealer selling this murano and has sold another one yesterday a 2005 with the same diagonal tilting drivers seat issue that is a safety problem and the cost when a dealer looked at it and said that the lifter link slide assembly was broken was $600 to fix. he also stated there has been a service bulletin open for years on the murano in general for this issue. the local dealer told me that it was normal and has sold many with this same issue used. *tr

The passenger side seat began to rock side to side. there was not accident or any thing. it was fine on the way to the store but getting back into the seat when leaving the store we noticed the rocking of the seat. after taking it to the shop that night we were informed that the seat frame was broken. the weld had failed. after talking with the mechanic we were informed that this is a fairly common problem. a very expensive problem that can hurt people. if not fixed this could lead to serious injuries in an accident. why is nissan not responsible for fixing this common problem that can harm their customers? *tr

1. the right front door lock is not locking/unlocking with the remote nor either of the interior buttons. 2. the rear hatch is not locking/unlocking also. this is a huge safety issues. being unable to open the right front door without leaning over from the driver's seat or using the key can make it nearly impossible to enter or exit the vehicle in an emergency. having researched this online, this is an ongoing issue with the nissan and infinity suvs. nissan is aware of the issue simply because of the availability of the replacement parts being instock at the dealerships. nissan needs to take responsibility for the safety of owners and users of their products. there should be a notice sent to their dealers and, when the locking mechanism fails, needs to be replaced by nissan at their expense. *tr

This vehicle is only four years old with only 84000 miles, while driving i heard a loud sound coming from under the vehicle. i took the vehicle in to five towns nissan they told me that i have a big problem, my transfer case is not good. the transfer case, seal-oil and seal- oil ring would be $2750.82. labor and tax would be bring it to $4074.33. now we all know owners of this very cute vehicle that it has a factory defect and we need more people like myself to come forth so the would have no choice but to recall these vehicles. *tr

At any rate of driving the wheels begin to shake and the car rattles. turning and steering became very difficult. the car was taken to a mechanic and he indicated the power steering fluid was low and thus added fluid. several weeks later it happened again and fluid was added again and the mechanic stated the power steering high pressure hose was leaking power steering fluid and needed to be replaced. approximate mileage 74,000. fluid has to be replaced consistently and i am terrified of driving the car. this is a common problem with the murano. *tr

The seatbelt release mechanism has become intermittent (sticky) over the past several weeks. this appears to be due to the collapse of the driver's seat frame, which occurred on this vehicle several months ago. the seat belt appears to be anchored to the seat frame on the right side, and to the vehicle body on the left side. the wobbling motion of the driver's seat due to the collapsed frame appears to affect the seat belt tension, which may be affecting the operation of the release mechanism. i am awaiting the safety recall on both of these issues. *kb

The driver's side sun visor falls down and blocks the view of the driver. i used to keep my seat up high because i'm short, and it helped me have a better view of the road. i've lowered my seat because when the visor falls it completely blocks my view. the visor has started falling at least once every time i drive it. it even happens on the freeway, where the road is smooth. *tr

My air bag light on the drivers side started flashing. after taking it to a nissan mechanic i was told that the whole air bag assembly needs to be replaced to the tune of $1200.00. i have noticed a lot of air bag problems for nissans just randomly going bad. we didn't get into a wreck or abuse the car in any way.... it just stopped working. one of the reasons we purchased this vehicle was because it had a 5 star safety rating. little did i realize that the airbag will just stop working while i am driving. i believe that nissan should repair this defect and all others like it. as i previously stated we didn't do anything wrong to cause this and they have had numerous complaints over this problem. please help me and others. thank you. *tt

My 2007 nissan murano's differential just failed on a highway without any warning. i was with three kids on a high way and it was pitch dark. the only thing i did that day was to change my rear tyres and i have no idea if this might have contributed to it. upon research for a new part, i realized that quite a lot of people have had the same complaints about their murano and i am not sure if they should be forced to recall the vehicle. *tr

I hate to complain and i've never filed a complaint before, but some type of motion has to be enforced with the nissan murano line of vehicles.  there are so many issues with this vehicle that i have chosen to list the most hazardous and frustrating ones.  the first issue was recalled.  months before a recall was finally enforced, i almost got severely hurt at a stoplight when the air exhaust hose slipped off on my 2007 nissan murano, which caused it to completely stop in the middle of driving through the stoplight.  the second issue will also cause near death experiences/deaths if a recall is not enforced.  my driver side seat and 1,000s of others' driver side seats have a collapsed rear bracket which causes the seat to move back in forth.  this is extremely dangerous!  a rear-end collision could be just as fatal as a head on collision due to the fact that the seat will move forward and throw the driver into the air bag breaking their neck and various other fatal injuries to graphic to list.  i foresee a huge lawsuit as nissan has been alerted of this issue many times and refuses to cover it, even for vehicles still under warranty.  instead, they charge on average $1,200 to fix it.  if you would like to simulate the issue, you are more than welcome to use my murano with a crash test dummy and crash it into a wall.  the most nerve wrecking issue is the breaks.  no matter what kind of brakes you have installed or who installs them (even the dealer), they still squeak extremely loud.  once again, nissan knows about this as a common problem, but their response in lamen terms is, 'sorry, that you were stupid enough to pay 38k for a hunk of junk.'  i have so many other issues with this vehicle that i lay awake at night and pray that it will get stolen, a major hail storm, or i win the lottery so i can get rid of it as i still owe on it and i'm upside down on trade value.  this is my 1st and last nissan.  i'm going back to gm for better quality and customer satisfaction. *tr

I had a transfer case failure on my 2007 nissan murano 600 miles after i hit 60,000 miles on my car. my car's awd system fails at slow speeds and turns. to correct the failure is 3 k +. i am told by my local dealer this occurs frequently however it is not a recalled item yet. i was also told if i brought it in 600 miles earlier they would cover the repairs. *tt

Faliure of coolant reserve tank. noticed a leak under the car and at first it could not be traced. but on the last oil change a crack on the edge of the coolant tank was noticed. dealership had this part readily available in stock, which leads me to believe that they are aware that there is a design flaw on this tank. the tank was not damaged or showing any signs of where and tear. the position of the crack leads me to conclude a design flaw.

The driver's seat started to rock under acceleration and braking on my wife's 2007 (built in 2008) which at times makes the vehicle hard to control. this was initially repaired by busam nissan under warranty on aug. 3rd, 2010. the warranty expired in march of 2011. two (2) months after this the seat began to rock just like before. i took it to busam and the service manager said $1,400 to repair. you can guess my reaction. a nissan repair by the dealer should be covered for at least a yr. and since this is the 2nd occasion in les than a yr. one would think they might be concerned. i was advised to call nissan customer service and talked to [xxx] in tn.. she did lvm 3 days later saying to contact her. i called numerous times and lvms for her. 5 days later she called and got my wife. sorry, nissan is not responsible. that's it. i have been trying to contact her for 2 weeks now to no avail. there are 20 pages of complaints on edmunds.com alone plus numerous complaints on the nissan forum and also on this site. the parts used to replace the seat are now combined into an $800 complete part which includes the two (2) parts replaced in august, 2010. the part #'s ' have been changed but i have found a cross reference and they are included in the new assembly. this must of concern to nissan as this makes it easier for a dealership to diagnosis and repair. this is now getting to be a dangerous situation and i expected busam to stand beside me but they would not. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*tr

Driver's power seat suddenly started rocking forward and backward as you were slowing or accelerating. popping and squeaking noises accompanied the rocking motion. as the seat would rock you had to adjust pressure on the brake pedal or accelerator to compensate for the movement of the seat. it was unnerving to operate the vehicle with the seat moving. i had to hold onto the grab handle over the driver's door to help control the movement of the seat. in doing this i was unable to keep both hands on the steering wheel. if i tried to keep both hands on the steering wheel, when the seat would move i would tend to jerk the wheel from side to side as i tried to stop the seat from moving. appointment was made at local nissan service department. i learned that nissan is familiar with this safety issue and have issued a technical service bulletin. parts were ordered and seat was repaired. i am concerned that if normal use will cause the inferior designed seat to break what would happen in a crash. it appears tsb is for model years 2003 thru 2007 . possibly the seat design was improved for '08 and later models but nissan is unwilling to issue a recall to cover this safety issue. *tr

I was driving in traffic and i felt a weird vibration and the vehicle felt as if it was surging forward. felt like a misfire so i drove it home and replaced the spark plugs. i then test drove it with new spark plugs and the problem was the same. i take it to my mechanic is he advises that the cvt and or transfer case assembly is the problem. i then go online to research it and find tons of stories of all the same problem. the vehicle is now stuck in my garage because i am scared to drive it and get into an accident. when i turn the wheel the vehicle doesn't want to move forward , almost like a slipping clutch , and then it will make a loud pop and jerk forward. i am having it towed to nissan dealership after holiday and after researching i already know they are not going to cover it and try to stick me with a 5-6k dollar bill. its not the consumer's fault nissan has a defective cvt system and doesn't want to recall it due to the expensive repair bill. i guess once this failure causes someone to die from an accident like the incident with toyota and their accelerator maybe then they will have to recall their murano's cvt system. *tr

Unfortunately i did no advanced research on the nissan murano and now we are resting among the group of other upset murano owners. a month ago we purchased a used 2007 murano sl awd with 29,000 miles. after a week of driving it we made a moderately slow stop as we approached a red-lighted intersection. the vehicle surged forward as the brakes were being applied. we could feel the anti-lock brakes begin to pulse at the pedal. the usual quite transmission began to make shifting noises as it argued with an engine that was rising in rpm. with a loud and pronounced clunk and my head was thrust into the headrest restraint pad. the vehicle stopped just before impacting the rear of a car before us. this has happened twice, with repeat visits to the dealer for repairs. they say they find nothing wrong, codes are all fine etc. they even serviced the abs brake sensors at no charge, but i know that is not the problem here. so in a nut shell nissan has done nothing to fix the problem, and is unable to help us. *tr

I have a 2007 nissan murano with about 58,000 miles and about 6 months ago when it had about 50,000 miles, i had to replace the left outer tie rod. just recently, i had to replace the left and right front lower control arms because the ball joints were badly worn. i didn't notice any handling, steering, rattling or any other unusual issues before the problem was noticed. i don't drive the car over rough roads or abuse it in any way. these defects were detected when the tires were rotated. it makes me wonder what else will cause problems in the suspension if these things went wrong with relatively low mileage. there are no recalls that i can detect and this is not covered under the basic warranty so i plan to call the dealer and do a lot of complaining. *tr

While travelling for a funeral, driver's seat started rocking to the rear. investigation showed the seat frame had broken at the left rear corner. a nissan dealer in wisconsin refused to repair the seat failure for free as the car is no longer under warranty. to get vehicle home a block of wood was placed under corner. once the car was in home state, dealer there also refused to repair for free even though this is a safety issue. owner had 3rd party mechanic remove and make welding repairs. searching the internet shows many complaints for this model vehicle with multiple production years starting in 2003 through at least 2007 for the same driver's side seat failure.

The driver's seat bracket, outside rear broke as i swing my body around to exit the car. the back of the seat fell sharply about 4" and i found myself between the pillar and the seat. i live in a mountainous county in california, and regularly travel for business (2 - 4 times per week) between 3 other counties, same topography. if this had occurred while making one of these trips the result would have been catastrophic, a head-on, roll-over, or over the cliff. thank god this occurred in the valley, and when i was stopped. i had to have a temporary repair at a furniture repair store just to be able to drive the car. he fashioned a wooden support to keep the seat upright and strapped it beneath the seat. on getting to santa rosa, ca, i took to vehicle into nissan of santa rosa and spoke to the service department. he mentioned they see this weekly, and wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee. i balked at that, was sent to the consumer hot-line, and they wouldn't file a report until it was diagnosed at the dealership. i got them to waive the fee. went back to the dealership had it diagnosed. they wanted to charge me over $800 dollars to fix it. several days later i get a call from the consumer division of nissan saying they would do nothing with my claim. of course they wouldn't if they sell an expensive part plus labor on a regular basis. since then i have talked to several other technicians in both the santa rosa and petaluma, ca dealerships. it was confirmed this is a regular failure. i'm amazed that there have been no any fatalities, or maybe there have. the fact that nissan has not re-engineered this part, or created a mod for this fix has me questioning the integrity of nissan products. how many people have to die before they do the right thing. is this the only complaint filed with the nhtsa? we found this problem discussed numerous places online.

Two days ago, my driver's seat broke resulting in the steep tilt which pushes me towards the driver door especially when car is making a turn. it seems to be anchored on the right side but comes loose from the left rear, allowing rocking when taking turns. this car has 47k miles. this seems like a major safety issue, as it could affect a driver's control of the steering wheel, pedals, etc. *tr

I was driving my car home from work when i turned a corner and my seat came off the floor. i wasn't going fast so i was able to keep control. the car is in excellent condition and only as 20k miles on it. i did some research online and found this to be a common problem due to faulty design of the power seats. depending on the situation, this could definitely lead to an accident and serious harm since the seat is not securely fastened to the chassis of the car. the fact that nissan won't cover the cost to fix the issue ($1000 part plus $400 labor) because it is out of warranty is ridiculous. a car seat should not break at all let alone after 20k miles. this is a potential a serious issue that needs to be addressed. *tr

When i lock my doors they go down all by themselves. yesterday they went down the car got soaked inside. i don't feel safe because anybody can reach their hand in and open the doors. car is 4 years old. shouldnt be having these major repair problems. so far stress cracked windshield, squealing brakes, now all four windows going down after i lock it. this is a major safety issue what if the doors lock and the windows decide not togo down anymore something is bad wrong with the locking mechanism. i want to know why there hasn't been a recall for this very disturbing failure .below it doesn't give you a choice to explain what is really wrong with the car thank you for letting me explain now. *tr

I felt a vibration coming from my 2007 nissan murano and i took it to the dealer and they said they didn't feel it. took it back a second time and they said that they had overserviced the cvt(transmission) at a prior service interval. they said they reset the fluid level. took the car and it still vibrated... a week later i was pondering how to file a complaint. today i was heading to the airport when the car completely lost all power to the cvt. i was entering the highway and i felt the engine just rev up and the car wasn't moving forward with my foot on the gas pedal. a car almost slammed me in the rear end and i pulled over to the side of the road and called a tow truck and towed the car to the dealer. the dealership failed to recognize that the cvt should have been replaced and that there is also a recall on the cvt. this put me and anyone who was in my car in a dangerous situation where it could have ended up tragically if someone had hit me on the driver side if i was making a left turn and my car lost power. *tr

While driving on i95 the driver's seat broke and began rocking back and forth. i managed to maintain control of the car till i got home and propped the seat up with wood blocks. i looked online and found numerous complaints of the same problem from murano owners, 41 exact same complaints on the first site i viewed. nissan admits no fault and recommends a $1200 repair. i called my nissan dealer and they said they see this problem constantly, but can usually make a weld repair for about $70. i took the car to the dealer and they quadrupled the price to $300 for the weld. when i balked, the mechanic and the service manager told me i had to have the repair done as it is a safety problem. i agree, it certainly is a safety problem. shouldn't nissan acknowledge their design flaw before people are killed?

Doors can be unlocked and the car ignition can be started without a key, and there is no way to lock the ignition, and no way to stop anyone from opening the doors. this creates an extremely dangerous condition for car jacking and harm to the occupants. *tr

During the course of normal, routine and non-commercial use of the vehicle, the driver's seat became loose and began to rock/move. took vehicle to nissan dealer for inspection and diagnosis. dealer service department advised that seat mount for driver's seat was broken at a weld spot, compromising the integrity of the mounting. no collission or other abnormal event precipitated the incident. this would seem to indicate a manufacturing or design defect in the seat mount with serious safety implications.

1. we own a 2007 nissan murano. while driving at approximately 45 mph, we heard a "crack" sound in the car. it was immediately evident that the seat's back was able to move in a manner that is not normal. it was able to shift/twist to the side rather than be stable in a front-facing position. this occurred with a vehicle that was only driven under normal suburban conditions (not used off road or in extreme situations) and with approximately 55,000 miles. there were no special circumstances or unusual driving, jarring, or trauma to the vehicle or its seat in the days, months, and years leading up to this failure. 2. a metal seat bracket (seat lift frame assembly) in the front driver's seat broke on 12/20/2010. this has a consequence of the front seat being able to move about including rocking, shifting, and twisting while driving, and is especially unstable during turns or on a bumpier surface. even with a seatbelt on, there is a serious instability to the seat. while we have not experienced a crash that caused injury, from this, we strongly feel the potential for there to be serious injury or death because the seat is not stabilized exists. in reviewing message boards from other owners of muranos (see http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2004/nissan/murano/seat for example), this failure exists in multiple model years (noted from 2004 on) and appear to impact hundreds, if not thousands of murano owners. 3. nissan requires the seat to be replaced at a cost of $1000 - $1200 to the consumer. they do not consider this a safety issue and thus do not cover this under recall. we are currently awaiting the repair from the dealership. *tr

I have a 2007 nissan murano sl with about 52,000 miles and when i replaced all 4 tires, a slow air leak developed where the tire pressure monitor (tpm) seals against the inside of the wheel. the tpm was never moved or replaced when the new tires were mounted. the tire pressure read from both the dashboard and a hand held device reads about 19 psi when it should be about 35 psi. it takes about 2 weeks to be reduced. the inside seal on the tps is replaceable however the tps nut on the outside of the wheel that must be removed is seized and being aluminum, its threads are easily stripped. in conclusion, to fix the air leak, i have to purchase a new tps at about $100 each. with only 52,000 miles, the tps seal and threads should not be having these problems. *tr

Tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) is defective. the pressure indicator in my vehicle constantly lights up telling me my tires are underinflated. i have checked the tires with three different types of pressure gauges and the reading is the recommended 32 psi but the car says 27 psi. when i took the vehicle to nissan they told me to over inflate my tires to 37 psi when the placard in the door says to inflate to 32 psi. basically the tpms is off by 16% which i believe is a safety concern. either i over inflate my tires, resulting in less stability and uneven wear, or i ignore the warning light and take the risk that i may drive over a nail or other road hazard and not know about it. i find the problem especially interesting when you see that on all of my nissan maintenance work they report they inflated the tires to 33 psi, when in truth they inflate it to 36-37 psi so that the light will not come on. i have notified nissan on 11/28/2008 but no avail. it seems that this is a common problem from my search on the internet and i hope you will look into it. *tr

The battery has been replaced twice in the vehicle and it has less than 35,000 miles on it. the first replacement was done when the car was only about 6 months old and i just recently had to have the battery replaced again. the second battery was supposed to be an 84,000 mile battery and was under warranty. however, when i was driving it, the car died on me and would not start again. the battery had less than 26,000 miles on it. nissan fought us on the replacement even though it was under warranty, but we finally got another one put in. we are on our 3rd battery in less than 3 years. this same vehicle had an engine mount crack at 32,000 miles and has also had the radiator replaced at 34,000 miles. it has been in the shop 4 times now in the last 2 1/2 months. when the radiator went out, the gauges did not even say that the car was running hot. i discovered the issue when my car started smoking everywhere and coolant was all over my vehicle. nissan insists that it is not an electrical issue of any kind and that the gauge can still read cool if the radiator goes out and the car is smoking. all in all, i now have the 3rd new battery, a new radiator, and a new engine mount. the drive belts have also cracked, but nissan refused to do anything about that. *tr

2007 nissan murano awd w/ 84k miles. took vehicle into nissan dealer service dept. in july for noises in engine area. diagnosed as bad wheel bearings on 1 side of vehicle cost $600.00. returned to dealer approx. 1 month later, again hearing noises coming from engine area. was again diagnosed w/bad wheel bearings on other side & was told replacement from 1 month prior was defective & needed replacement again. questioned dealer service dept. diagnosis, indicating that i also smelled either oil burning or some kind of fluid burning when driving. without further examination of vehicle, service dept. recommended a fluid flush, i indicated that the fluids had just been flushed 1 month prior, was told no other problems were indicated when vehicle was inspected earlier that day. smell of oil or fluid was dismissed by service dept. received a call later that day from service dept. indicating repairs to defective wheel bearing & second wheel bearing completed, car ready for pick up $400 bill. picked up vehicle @ approx. 5:30 pm. as i drove home there was a good amount of traffic & vehicle speed did not exceed 30 mph for majority of trip. upon clearing of traffic & further acceleration to approx. 45 mph, there was an extremely loud bang that came from what sounded like the engine area of my vehicle, accompanied by a dragging & grinding sound coming from the bottom of my vehicle bringing my vehicle to a quick stop. it sounded like the bottom of my vehicle fell off. i managed to pull vehicle over to safety & next day had vehicle towed back to dealer. i was then informed by dealer that the transfer case on my vehicle had broken, that the vehicle was beyond the warranty & the repair cost is $3,400. this may be a problem in the awd model. there are many similar incidents posted on the internet. this part is defective & needs investigation, had i been on a highway when this happened the outcome could have been catastrophic, please help! don't wait until a true tragedy occurs. *tr

I have a 2007 nissan murano that experienced a break to the drivers side seat frame. the metal support at the back of the seat sheared off from it's weld to the rest of the seat frame causing the seat to suddenly rock backwards. nissan usa refused to repair this defect at their expense and are charging $1,132 for an entirely new seat frame assembly. after searching the internet and finding many, many other owners with the same issue, i took my car to a local welder here in cincinnati ohio and had him weld the piece back to the frame. he also shored up the other side and took out the passenger seat as well and found a crack in the metal support frame on that side. that was welded also. i am concerned at nissan's apparent disregard for the potential safety issue here. it seems to me that there are enough similar problems to warrant a recall for defective design and/or manufacture. the local welder i used in cincinnati told me this was his 4th murano. that's one local welder in cincinnati. thanks for your attention to this issue. *tr

Rear hatch will not open. i tried to unlock the entire vehicle and push the release button under the rear hatch, but it will not open. it only makes a clicking sound and will not open the rear hatch. *tr

This is regarding a 2007 nissan murano. the sun visor on the drivers side does not lock in the up position. this causes it to fall donw into the field of view and is a definate safety issue especially when driving on rough roads as it can block you vision without any warning. manufacturer and dealers will not cover this repair once out of warrenty and it costs upwards of $400 to do the repair. i have investigated this and have even heard from dealers that this is a common occurance with these vehicles all the way back to 2003. this should definately be a saftey recall as it could cause an unexpected accident

The car engine shut down all of sudden while driving at about 60mph on an interstate highway and didn't respond to action on accelerator. the car stopped in the middle of the highway and 2 police cars came and pushed the car out of the highway. the car was then towed to a service center. according to a diagnosis, we were informed that the cause is the failure of the fuse box. power comes in the fuse box but does not come out. and also we were informed that this failure is uncommon. the part was replaced. however, we are now very concerned about the safety and reliability of our car because the above critical engine failure occurred to our fairly new car while driving. we purchased a new car and the car is a little over 2 years old and its mileage is only about 19k. *cn

The battery used in nissan murano 2007 is defective and goes down within 12 - 36 months for most vehicles. when most of the batteries in the us provide at least 36 months of warranty, nissan made its own policy to cover 100% only for 1st 12 months, and then start prorated charges. they conceal the defect during a sale/lease, but it's very common. i had to pay $75 in order to replace the battery that is only 24 months old. they replaced with another defective nissan battery, and refused to replace with a reputable battery such as interstate. i stayed at the dealership for about an hour and saw four similar suvs came in, all with the same complain. i spoke to some nissan owners and they all agreed that their batteries went down just after 12 months. nissan used to offer 36 months warranty till 2005, and then started to reduce the warranty, and now it is only for 12 months. they should refund my payment as well as to other owners who were forced to replace the battery within 36 months as the company claims bumper to bumper coverage for this period. then they should replace with a reputable battery such as interstate until they fix the problem of their battery. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. while driving approximately 25 mph, the driver's seat failed and extended to the rear seat. the contact immediately drove to the dealer and was informed that the seat could be repaired. the dealer welded the seat to the track as a temporary remedy. on july 6, 2009, the seat failed again. the dealer recently stated that they would no longer weld the seat because the track needed to be replaced. the contact paid $400 for the welding and $1,400 for the track replacement. she stated that she would not repair the seat since the failure recurred. the manufacturer stated that they would make an agreement with her to split the repair cost. they later stated that they would get in touch with her and that no recalls were available; however, the dealer and service manager confirmed that the failures occurred. if a crash had occurred, the injuries could have been fatal. the contact refused to pay for the repair and stated that if the seat leaned toward the air bag switch, the air bag would deploy. the state attorney general is mailing her a packet to report the failure. the contact informed the dealer that she will go the media about the issue. the manufacturer stated that this would be irrelevant since no crash occurred. the contact found several nhtsa complaints and an open investigation regarding this issue. the failure mileage was approximately 39,000 and current mileage was 42,000.

In february 2008 during an oil change, fluid leak was discovered between cvt (transmission) and transfer case. on 2/5/08 dealer made first attempt to repair. they stated that some cvt bolts were loose and were tightened. vehicle was return to me as fixed (mileage 11303). on 5/12/08, vehicle went back to dealer for scheduled 15k maintenance where they found it still leaking. new transfer case was ordered and vehicle went back in for installation on 5/15/08. on 6/10/08, during a 3 week vacation in british columbia, canada, vehicle suddenly lost power on the highway during busy commute traffic and made clunking noises. pulled off highway and called nissan n.a. and towed to nissan dealer in victoria. dealer determined that due to human error, propeller (drive) shaft was not properly tightened down during transfer case install and had fallen off the car. vehicle repaired and expenses reimbursed by dealer in california. in march 2009, oil change again revealed transfer case leaking. dealer attempted to replace tc seal but found tc damaged due to missing vent tube. dealer replaced with another transfer case on 3/9/09. this is a known issue common with awd muranos. i have persistently checked for signs of leaks. other owners have not been as diligent and have experience numerous failures during operation on the road. this is a danger as vehicle will stall and fail on the road. *tr

I was on hwy 10 traveling from houston to nm, headed west just past exist 138 in normal driving conditions. i has just finished fueling up my vehicle and was back on the hwy. i ran over small object in the road that caused a puncture in the back of the fuel tank. i was signaled by passing call to pullover immediately as there was fuel was pouring out of the vehicle , making it an extreme fire hazard & undriveable. i was following behind my boyfriend during this incident who also ran over this same object and nothing happened to his vehicle (bmw). i called nissan the next day ( i have reference # ) & i was told there was no recall for 2007 regarding fuel tank puncture problems .he said this was a problem for the previous year models and not my model year. the fuel tank does appear however to be exposed and appears to be prone to this problem . there are approx 17500 miles on this 2007 murano. the fuel tank was patched the next day, and the suv driven to it's destination without incident, and parked until it could be towed by the dealership for repairs. a new fuel tank will be used to replace the damaged one. the dealership informed me this would not be covered and i should contact my insurance. i am very concerned that this may happen again . this was the 1st time for this vehicle to be driven on the hwy as it was only driven locally on city streets prior. the same object did not cause the same problem for my boyfriends vehicle nor for the other cars who ran over it as well. *tr

For eight months i have been experiencing my car windows going down mysteriously. nissan, murano, 2007, sl, touring package, 4 doors w/hatch. occurs when the car is parked, shut off, locked and no one inside it; in all types of weather (hot, cold, dry, wet); when parked indoors or outside. two front windows always mysteriously go down but on some occasions rear windows go down too along with front ones. i thought it was operator error, but have ruled it out after how frequent it occurs. two months ago it occurred when parked outdoors; a heavy rain storm occurred soaked the vehicle and required professional cleaning to remove water. a month ago it occurred parked at a busy mall parking lot. i was shocked to come out and find the windows down and car not secure. three weeks ago it occurred at night parked outdoors; it was filled with debris in the morning due to a windy night. in the last week and a half it has occurred 4 times, while in a garage. today, october 8, 2008 it happened twice and i witnessed the second occurrence. it occurred the 2nd time just as a rain shower was starting. the car had to be covered with a tarp for the night to prevent rain from getting in it in the event the windows go back down again. this is a real problem due to the fact that the car is no longer safe when the windows will not stay up. the passengers are at risk, car is at risk of being damaged from inclement weather inside it, vehicle is at risk for theft or being vandalized due to not being secure, personal property is at risk of theft from the vehicle due to not being secure. i feel this issue needs to be documented and addressed. others online have posted the same problems on blogs. after today i will be meeting with the dealer to address this issue. for a vehicle rated so high in safety i no longer feel safe in this vehicle due to the window problem. i am shocked nissan has not done anything since others have complained. i am questioning owning it. *tr

A 2007 nissan murano bought new may 2007and since new the vehicle has made a loud squealing sound from the brakes when in reverse. car has always been serviced at the conyers nissan dealer but even though the item was brought to their attention they said there was no fix for it. another incident the vehicle was left at the dealership the whole day, to no avail. the most recent visit and after another complaint the service advisor checked the service bulletins and found that there was one issued for that problem and replaced the front brake pads. however that did not solve the problem and during a recent routine service visit the dealer said that the problem was with the brake rotors and pads which had to be re-surfaced and turned at a cost of $250.00 plus tax. we do not feel that there should have been a charge since the problem existed since the vehicle was new and they did not have a fix for it at first. they are citing the brake warranty which expires after 12000 miles claiming normal wear and tear caused the problem. if they had fixed the problem from the start then this would not have become an issue. *tr

I opened the driver's door and the door latch snapped close on my index finger. i had to open the door latch to release my finger. seven stitches, xrays of the finger and a tetanus shot followed. not a pleasant experience, this occurred on a 2007 nissan murano. *tr

I have a 2007 nissan murano that we purchase a few months ago. when the vehicle is in reverse and the brake pedal is applied, there is a horrible squeaking/whistling/grinding noise that occurs. i have taken the car to the dealer 4 times and they consistently state they are working on a solution but nissan does not know what is really wrong with them and only offer a suggestive change in brake pads and using a special grease to lessen the noise for a few days. they eventually changed out the rotors on the last trip a couple weeks ago and told us the problem nissan states is there was a change in the "nissan brake pads" and there is to much metallic in the pads now which is causing the noise. since that visit, we have taken the vehicle to another repair shop and had and "after-market brake pad" placed on the car since nissan states is was only a problem with their make of brake pad. we very quickly learned this was not true! the noise and grinding is worse. it has even become noticeable anytime you apply the brakes and the brakes do not feel like they are grabbing correctly. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle and do not think we should have to pay $40k for a car and not have security with the braking system. i think the dealers should replace the vehicles before someone gets hurt or killed due to the brake failure. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that the fuel sending unit failed on december 7, 2007. on december 22, 2007, while driving approximately 20 mph in cold weather, the vehicle stalled in traffic. prior to the failure, the vehicle jerked. the vehicle restarted, but then stalled again. the contact was able to restart the vehicle, but it would not accelerate above 20 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the transmission failed. on january 9, 2008, while driving approximately 70 mph in dry conditions, the vehicle would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. as a result, the vehicle jerked forward and threw the contact into the steering wheel. the contact bruised her chest. the interior lights dimmed and the radio shut off temporarily. the vehicle continually lost power and would only shift into low gears. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they replaced the fuel pump on january 11, 2008. a few days later, the check engine light illuminated and she smelled a strange odor. the fuel gauge went from three quarters of a tank to a full tank. the speedometer began to display inaccurate readings and the vehicle began to lose power. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer on january 20, 2008 and they stated that the fuel sending unit failed again. the current mileage was 6,900 and failure mileage was 5,200.

While gently applying brakes, the vehicle sometime lunges forward and the brake pedal must be pressed harder to continue slowing at the same rate. a nissan area technical representative drove the vehicle with me. i told him he was stopping too quickly to notice the problem. i never could get him to try it while stopping gently. it may be a situation related to the cvt transmission disengaging from engine braking and only happen on while downhill braking. *tr

My wife and i purchased a 2007 nissan murano a few months ago. since that time we have experienced problems with very loud screeching noises with the brakes. we have taken it back to the dealer where we bought it in lubbock, tx and to a dealer in houston. both said this is a common problem in muranos and they are hoping for some sort of fix from nissan. they both said that to date there has been no repair initiated from the factory. i wrote an email to nissan customer service to ask for assistance and they did not care to respond. since the brakes are such a vital part of automotive safety and these are obviously not right i want to ask for your assistance in getting this problem resolved. if it cannot be resolved would you please advise me as to how to return this car under the "lemon law" as we do not feel safe when driving it. we have taken it to two dealers and both recognize that it is a problem but neither can recommend a fix. i do not believe we should have to continue to drive a car we believe is unsafe. *tr

I have a new 2007 nissan murano sl when the vehicle is in reverse and brake pedal applied, there is a horrible screeching/squealing noise that occurs. it is a very loud noise that can be heard from far away. this happens almost every time the car is in reverse. the problem does not occur when vehicle is going forward. the brakes continue to work except for the noise. i have called the dealer countless times and they say a fix is being worked on, but no resolution as to when it will happen. not sure if the dealer is lying to me, or if nissan is really trying to figure it out. the dealer does not know how to fix the problem at this time. i took the murano in to be fixed thinking they had a an official solution, but all they did was inspect the brakes. this needs to be corrected soon as i have read many forums where 06 and 07 murano owners have the exact same problem with brake squeal. it is so loud my neighbors can here it from there houses. there needs to be a recall on this before the brakes fail and some gets hurt. *jb

On two occasions with heavy wet snow the windshield wipers became stuck. both times it was impossible to pull over to clear the ice build up from under the arm and inside the hood. this created an extremely hazardous driving situation. *jb

Due to close proximity (and same "level") of brake pedal and gas pedal, the throttle is accidentally engaged when trying to stop (under braking). this causes the braking to be less effective (engine working against brakes), with moderate loss of control, unusual results, and near accidents. this has occured three times to me, and has occurred twice to my wife, on this vehicle. we have both been driving many different types of vehicles for many years, and never had this happen to either of us before. therefore, it must be an "unusual" design cause on this vehicle.

1. brakes squeak in reverse horribly!!! always when rested a few hours as well as over night but never in forward. 2. one time hesitated to start. kept cranking, after 2nd attempt , started, phew! would have been mighty embarassing at the party for a new vehicle not start! otherwise i like the s.u.v... *jb

I have a 2007 nissan murano se awd. when the vehicle is in reverse and brake pedal applied, there is a horrible screeching/squealing noise that occurs. it is a very loud noise that can be heard from far away. this happens almost every time the car is in reverse. the problem does not occur when vehicle is going forward. the brakes continue to work except for the noise. i have called the dealer countless times and they say a fix is being worked on, but no resolution as to when it will happen. not sure if the dealer is lying to me, or if nissan is really trying to figure it out. the dealer does not know how to fix the problem at this time. i will not take the murano in to be fixed until nissan has an official solution, as i do not want them randomly replacing parts without knowing what the problem is. this needs to be corrected soon as i have read many forums where 06 and 07 murano owners have the exact same problem with brake squeal. *jb

The vehicle shuts off without warning. it happens every day and sometimes in the middle of traffic!

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver side seat was fractured. he had to place a brick under the seat in order for the seat to remain upright. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer advised that they needed to replace the frame of the seat. the manufacturer was contacted and but provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 67,229 and the current mileage was 67,635. updated 08-07-12 *bf

I purchased my car labor day of 2010. in april 2011, my car was diagnosed with having a cracked transfer case. i spent $1800 to have it fixed and now december 27, 2011 my transfer case is cracked again. i have only had my car for a little over a year and i don't believe i should be going through this and putting our more money when i owe so much on it. i don't understand what is going on but i am convinced it is a manufacture problem... *tr
