2007 CHEVROLET Tahoe

I was involved in a rollover accident 12/18/21 and my 07 Tahoe was hit on Right passenger front quarter panel and flipped onto passenger side. My airbags never deployed. I see a recall was issued 2/5/21 but I never received anything by mail or anything. Could you explain. I have pictures of totaled car and how airbags are still in tact. Thanks

Airbag recall

I need to add a couple of quarts of oil every 1500 miles. The low oil light is triggered which indicates a problem. I have never had a car burn the amount of oil as this Tahoe. Quite ridiculous. Please pursue a class acting lawsuit since GM obviously isn\'t going to be honest about his issue and provide a correction for it otherwise.

Using excessive amounts of oil. There are no leaks but it uses a quart every 1,000 miles. In the process of getting it fixed.

There is gas fuel smell and i have to put a quart of oil in it every week and the brakes wear fast that causesproblems in the suspension system.also i had to replace the sway bar.

I purchased my 2007 Tahoe to be the last car I would need to buy as I am near retirement. I am very worried now that it will need some major repairs to correct the oil consumption. Chevrolet should cover these repairs as it is obvious there is a design problem with the engine and thousands of users have this problem. For the enormous cost of the vehicle I expected better. I should have kept my old 1998 Tahoe. It probably would still be running and wouldnt need oil between oil changes.

Our extra third vehicle Tahoe, is driven on the weekends or when the entire family is going out. On October 10th, we notice a knocking noise while driving or sitting idle. We took the car to the dealership on October 11th and was told we need a new engine or to buy a new vehicle. We took the car to a local mechanic on October 13th and was told the car was 2 quarts low in oil. Now, we have to purchase a new engine.

K1500: Front differential started making a loud noise. The dealer stated water got into differential, and it had to be rebuilt. This is the 3rd time this vehicle has had to be taken in for front differential repair issues. The issues have constantly been pinion seal leaks. The first repair was covered under GMs manufactures warranty. The next 2 repairs, which included this one, came out of my pocket with a total cost of $1,435.49

C1500: Too much oil consumption on my 2007 Chevy Tahoe….have to add oil all the time. Also have dashboard cracks

K1500: Oil consumption problem has been going on for about a year the car asks for more oil about 1 every 2 weeks or less. Top off with quarts.

Per service personnel data was reviewed & forwarded to Tech assistance 12/14/08-12/14/08 VDR reconfigured to record Engine data and reinstalled 12/27/08-12/27/08 Advised no one could check safety concern as Saturday 12/29/08-01/24/09 Vehicle towed in after vehicle acceleration problem and collision with cones on freeway Replaced Input Speed Senor & 1-2 Shift solenoid Reconditioned Input Clutch Housing Assembly & R&R Control Valve Body Refaced Front Brake Rotors. 02/03/09-Pending Towed in from solo accident caused by acceleration problem Additionally, the Stabiltrac engages and disengages without with out application of the button. Chevrolet service representative witnessed this Stabiltrac failure but no work could be done due to open ticket with GMC for acceleration issue. I have been working with Chevrolet to properly identify and fix the acceleration problem for more than ninety days. I have been advised it was fixed only to have the condition reoccur multiple times. There are eight (8) documented attempts to get this resolved. It is well documented this vehicle is unsafe and poses real threat of bodily harm and potentially death to others and myself. It is time for Chevrolet Motor Division to buy this vehicle back or replace it. . Chevrolet states that that will not buy a vehicle back if they can not duplicate the complaint; however, they refuse to drive the vehicle to the normal fail zone. This vehicle has been in repair for long durations, multiple times. Each time it is returned to me "repaired and safe," yet the issues reoccur. Last resulting in a non physical-injury accident resulting in property damage and Chevrolet denies liability. I do not want to die. I do not want to kill anyone with this unsafe vehicle. Chevrolet had called me a "guinea pig" and "hopes that it doesn’t happen again."

We have a 2007 chevy tahoe. one of the reasons we purchased this vehicle is that it has front and side airbags. i usually ride in the passenger seat and the sensor most often indicates off. after numerous attempts of trying to get them to establish what was wrong, the chevy dealer said that my weight was not quite enough to get it to work or that it was positional( how i sat). i am a grown woman who weighs about 115 lbs and am 5'2".this is not thin by normal standards and it is not considered an unusual size. if in fact this vehicle was not meant to work for someone of my size they should advise you of this. i asked what would happen if there was a wreck and my airbag did not deploy, would i have to sue gm? they are avoiding me and i have written to the ceo of gm as advised by customer service and i have written to bill heard, the owner of tom jumper chevrolet where we bought the car. no answers from anyone. what do you think? *jb

Our car doesn’t even have 100k miles and lost all power while driving to the speedometer as well as radio, lights, etc... we even took it to a mechanic who is also having troubles figuring it out. paid over $500 to have them change the bcm and ignition switch still having issues to the point it will not start.

I finally just received a safety recall letter from gm that the parts are now available to replace the passenger side airbag inflator in my vehicle. during the 14 years that gm has taken to respond to the safety problem my dashboard which is made from plastic has several cracks in it. i spoke with the local dealer and they informed me that they will replace the airbag inflator at no charge but will not be responsible for the dashboard which will break up and come out in pieces once removed due to deterioration and cracks. the cost for the dashboard parts is expected to exceed $1,100.00. i then contacted the chevrolet customer assistance center at 800-630-2438 and spoke to jecc which informed me that no, gm will not replace any other parts other than the airbag inflator. i don't understand how gm could be so complacent in delaying for 14 years the installation of this critical safety part which has put my passengers at risk of being impaled be metal shrapnel if in an accident. i also don't understand why after delaying the installation of this part for so long that they are not willing to replace all the necessary parts to make things right. i will be delaying the recall procedure due to the high cost of the repair and in the meantime trying not to carry any passengers. my father got a recall on his 2013 ford edge a few years ago for the same issue and they replaced the entire dashboard with no questions asked and the dashboard was not even cracked. it was not even an issue. i would thank you if you could pass this on to any higher authorities at gm. it is not right that they do not stand behind their product or their customers safety.

It dies on a nightly basis and i see forums where this is a in going problem where the computer needs updated and the radio continuesly runs and thats not the only drain

The dash cracked on passenger side 80 k.this vehicle is very well-maintained it looks like it rolled off the showroom floor. takata airbag recall what a joke. so you recall the vehicle but you don’t have the parts to fix it. the vehicle has a defect in the fuel system, i started noticing it when i would fill up with fuel. it has to build the pressure up before it’ll start. many mechanics told me this is a defect. kat friday night i ran an errand. pulled in the driveway exited the vehicle hit the key fob to lock the vehicle. i go out the next morning and i can smell burnt wires. the window/power locks/mirrors module on drivers side door caught on fire. luckily it shorted out the module, but it burnt up and melted one of the connectors. this just happened so i have not had time to figure the cause. burns 2 quarts of oil between oil changes. general motors threw me under the bus in 1988 on a brand new pick up truck with the dexcool antifreeze that ate every gasket out of the engine and they refused to replace it i replaced it at my cost with no help from general motors. enough is enough these people need to take care of all these problems they got top dollar for these vehicles. all of these occurred when the vehicle was sitting still. the door handle on passenger side door have cut several people. it’s like a razor. a brand new vehicle has had a piece of tape wrapped around the door handle how embarrassing.

Takata recall-----i received a letter almost 3 months ago that there was a recall out on the airbags in my tahoe. i took the tahoe to the chevy dealer where i purchased the vehicle and they told me that i have to wait for a 2nd letter having to do with the parts coming in??? i have not gotten that 2nd letter? i have been back 2 times since and get the same response from the dealer service department.. i have to wait for the 2nd letter about the parts being available to fix the vehicle. am i going to have to wait until something catastrophic happens?

Dashboard cracked in two places - above left side of passenger airbag and to left of steering wheel. i do no know the exact moment the cracks appeared. i know they were not present two months ago when i last cleaned the interior of my car. this car is kept in a garage or parked in the shade whenever it isn't on the road. i also use a sun screen when parked in open parking lots for brief periods. this did not occur because of uv degradation. if i have an accident i am concerned that the plastic will shatter, being one more thing to cause injury. i have attached a picture of the crack above my steering wheel. the dash is actually gray though it appears green.

July 2016 recall letter sent. no further action has been taken. called today and was advised no solution to problem. car is being driven.

It was discovered that the dash was cracked in two spots while cleaning the vehicle. one of the cracks is located near the passenger side airbag while the other larger crack is in front of the driver. nothing was done to cause the crack. my wife and i do not use armor all on the dash, we have not placed anything heavy on the dash, we do not place feet on the dash, we have not had any accidents that would cause the dash to crack. our concern is pieces of the dash breaking off during a collision causing injury with air bag deployment. another cause for concern is the cracking getting worse causing holes in the dash, exposing the electronic components under the dash.

The dashboard is cracked. it started with a small crack and now it's from on end to the other.

The dashboard has randomly and severely cracked in two different places over the last several years. the most recent just a few weeks ago.

I see that there is an outstanding recall for my vehicle, i have 3 small children and cannot risk driving them in a vehicle that has issues with the airbags. what can be done as i am paying and driving this vehicle that is potentially deadly if the airbags deploy in an accident. the recall # is 16v381. i keep seeing that there is no remedy available. this is a serious danger to my family.

My dash keeps cracking around the passenger airbag. these cracks may cause pieces of the dash to become flying projectiles in the event of an accident where the passenger or side impact airbag deploys. this has been a problem for me since 2009. gm is refusing to rectify the problem.

Takata recall i live in florida, and have the oldest tahoe on the list of recalled vehicles. the dealership here in jacksonville has told me they will not be repairing the airbag anytime soon, and has not offered a loaner or any other solutions.

Transmission is not shifting and i see that tens of thousands of people are with the same problem on the particularly suv 2007 chevy tahoe this transmission should be a recall or at least fix it with a low price of less than $500 so we can keep buying these trucks

The dashboard has started cracking in multiple locations. i take extremely good care of my vehicle and have never experienced this with any other vehicle before ( level a 2003 yukon we had for 14 years).

I was traveling at about 50 mph on an asphalt road, and for no reason at all, my side curtain airbags suddenly deployed for no reason at all.. the road had no potholes, and my vehicle had not veered from the road. i could not see the curb because once inflated, the airbags would not deflate and it was very difficult maneuver my vehicle out of traffic as i could not see from any of my side windows. i ended up hitting the curb at about 40 mph, and flattened both passenger tires and severely denting both rims as well. had a more unexperienced driver like my daughter been driving at the time, this malfunction could have easily cost us with her life. i was on a smooth road, traveling in a straight line, in very light traffic. there was no reason whatsoever for these airbags to deploy! i spoke with my local dealership and after giving my vin, they told me that there was a recall on the side curtain airbags, but that it wasn't technically a recall yet, because they have yet to find a solution to the problem. however, when i speak to corporate, they completely denied any knowledge of anyone ever having such a problem. yet when i look online at tahoe forums, the number one complaint that i see on every single site, is that the side curtain airbags deploy for no reason at all...

My 2007 tahoe lt the is cracked in two places one at air bag that i feel if i was hit in that tahoe that when that airbag comes out the peices of the dash would hurt or kill my wife or kids everyone i know their dash pads are the same way even the ones for sale on car lots are the same way i do know thatif not recall my gm if someone looses their life or kids life over the dash pads being a bad part by gm i just hope and pray that no one get hurt or kill if in a bad crash in these tahoes

Takata recall ad more. 2007 chevy tahoe lt3. first denied claim on cracked dashboard as warranty was up. then chevy recalls chrome interior door handles, but my tahoe is no in the recall. my kids have cut their hands on the peeling handles i took it to gm the said too bad your mileage is to great we wont honor recall furthermore your vehicles is not listed in recall. how is it not listed when all chrome interior handled vehicles where recalled? they told me to take a hike. now i have had a air bag recall for over a year, and a very cracked dash which gm will not fix. if the "recalled" air bags did as they have done and the state of my dash there will be significant injury to occupants. gm does not care, they have addressed the situation numerous times and nothing they are doing is correcting the issue.

Light on.

The top of the fuel pump rusts out. the fuel tank has a design flaw that holds water around the fuel pump. the fuel pump and fuel lines on top of the tank rust out and causes gas and fumes to escape the tank. fuel will spray onto exhaust and under the vehicle causing a fire hazard. also excessive fuel vapors escape the tank. i have researched the problem online and there are numerous complaints to gm of the problem but gm has not addressed the problem. i am not looking for any monetary gain i simply want gm to address the problem before someone is killed. some people reported the problem before 100,000 miles and nearly all problems occur before 150,000.

Takata recall. notified chevrolet of nb in regards to recall the parts have not been released to replace air bags. called takata in regards of recall. they suggested i call gm in regards to loaner car until parts are available to replace air bags. they state car is perfectly safe to drive...not sure i understand this since it is a recall and several people have been killed and article reads that vehicles are unsafe to drive...

My dash has cracked and now has broken a piece off, it's made very thin and not sure why it's cracking so much.

Cylinder 1,3,5,7 in engine has misfires, this enging has the afm and tjevv4/v8 mode is wearing out the engines and causing them to fail. my engine has had the valve lifters fail. my engine now has a tapping sound, and after taking to garage they have informed me this is an ongping issue with this year of tahoe and problem is very common and they said it is s bad design. i was driving 70mph on the highway when cylinders 13,5,7 started misfiring, car went from 70mph to less then 40 mph and started shaking and studderring, aslnost got tearended on the highway because of this.after garage inspected vehicle they have determined the valve lifters, cam shaft are bad in the engine and have cause the traction control and stabiltrack errors in my tahoe. so now i have to get the engine rebuilt because of gm bad active fuel management design,(afm) i have been complaining of the issue since my tahoe had been using a quart of oil every oil change

When looking to purchase another tahoe i had seen a lot of dash cracks. the one i purchased which will be 2 years this june just got a crack on the dash next to the passenger airbag.

The 1st crack is at the upper left corner of the passenger air bag. this appeared roughly 2 years into ownership. the 2nd crack is to the left of the instrument cluster, starting at the front closest to the windshield and moving back toward the hump of the cluster closest to the driver. a 3rd crack has appeared, branching off the second crack at the instrument cluster pointing towards the drivers window. those cracks appeared about 3 years ago.this product is defective. the vehicle has been kept under shaded carport or in warehouse most of it's life.

Our 2007 chevy tahoe had been driven for about an hour and then parked for approximately two hours. upon starting the tahoe with cold engine and pulling away from the curb there was an immediate smell of something toxic coming from the air vents followed by black smoke from the engine compartment. the vehicle was stopped and turned off and less than a minute later there were flames emanating from under the hood and within a couple of minutes the hood was blown open and the entire front of the car was engulfed in flames.

My 2007 chevrolet tahoe developed a fuel leak at the discharge of the fuel pump. the leak occurred on the top of the fuel tank directly below the left rear passenger seat. the leak sprayed fuel all over the gas tank and bottom of the truck body. this is a safety concern due to the possibility of the atomized fuel starting on fire. the driver or passengers could have been severely burned. the vehicle was in motion when the leak occurred. i noticed a very strong smell of fuel, i pulled over and gas was dripping off of the fuel tank. the fuel line depressurized after the engine was shut off and continued to spray gas for 10 to 15 seconds.

My tahoe still looks like a new vehicle and is paid for so i would like to continue to drive it but i am so concerned with the way the dash has cracked. it started about a year ago and is cracked in 4 different locations. in one spot you can lift the dash completely open. i have 6 grandchildren and do not like having to worry about structures in my vehicle potentially injuring them or anyone else that may get injured from an accident where the air bags may be deployed. you would think that the company would recall such a defect besides waiting for a lawsuit for possible injuries or death related to this issue!!!! the vehicle has been kept under a shed and doesn't get driven that often. the first cracks notice were when the car was stationary!!

I recently started to notice an odor coming from the air ducts, while running my air conditioner. i called up a local chevrolet dealership, hoping they may schedule me for a servicing of my cabin air filter. i called the parts department, to which they informed me that they did, in fact, carry the parts needed (using my vin). i scheduled my appointment but still had a few questions and asked if i may speak with a service adviser/technician (it took me a week before i was called back). i finally was able to speak with an adviser that, after speaking with one of the technicians, informed me that my vehicle does not have a cabin air filter, thus, there is no need to have it serviced. after doing some research online, i came to the conclusion that my vehicle did not have a cabin air filter installed, however, it does have the housing/slot for one. i purchased a cabin air filter and cover. the directions seemed simple enough that i did not need to take it anywhere as i am somewhat mechanically inclined. i was appalled by what i found when i removed the seal. ten years of standing water, led to an infestation of mold and bacteria, that i and any passengers have been breathing in. attached are pictures i took after cutting out the seal to install a cabin air filter. i would greatly appreciate any and all explanations as to why this was never addressed and what gm may recommend so that this may never happen again. i understand that my year and model of tahoe (along with other models that do not come equipped with a cabin air filter) is not the only one with this flaw, and cannot see how anyone would continue to sit in, let alone drive in, a bacteria/disease-ridden vehicle. email sent to chevrolet customer assistance (to which they informed me that based on my vehicles age and mileage, that they would be unable to assist me.

I purchased this tahoe in 2008 with almost 13000 miles on it. before the warranty expired i had the dash board replaced because of the cracks in it. now it has cracks all over which are worse then the original one had. there are a lot of sharp arears on it that cut easily when running a rag over it to clean it. i don't know what would be the result if it was involved in any kind of accident.

Takata recall / gm recall 49152. my wife & i received the aforementioned recall from gm. in the body of the recall letter it states that takata had decided our passenger side airbag is defective. gm states they will issue a recall unless the can prove the airbags are not defective. so, i called gm to see what is the time frame to complete this investigation. gm could not provide me with any information on how long it would be for gm to finish it's investigation. in fact gm didn't even indicate they have started yet. this is unacceptable to me as a consumer. now i'm left with a car i purchased new from gm and am not able to use the vehicle for it's intended purpose. one has to assume that gm did their due diligence when purchasing the airbags and now that a recall has been issued by the manufacturer that decision is not good enough for gm. it's obvious to me the longer it takes for gm to prove the recall is not warranted the fewer recalled vehicles will be on the road which i have no doubt will be a benefit to gm but certainly not to the consumer. the simple question "how long will gm's investigation to prove to nhtsa's safitsfaction the recall is not needed take?". this leaves the consumer in a situation with no idea of when a resolution to the problem will come.

Cracked dash over the instrument panel. vehicle kept in immaculate condition but it appears that the heating /cooling cycle along with sub-par material and design may be creating a huge problem for a great many of tahoe owners. the initial crack was noticed during the summer months in northern illinois and over a period of two-three weeks it progressed from the seam between the two dash panels towards the drivers position. this vehicle has not been wreck, abused, or taken off road. unknown exactly when or what caused the dash to start cracking but it seems to be an ongoing problem which can cause a safety issue along with a decreased value of these vehicles due to poor quality. love the truck but the quality and customer support are very poor.

My dash board has cracks.

The digital information center (dic) located in the instrument panel cluster (ipc) has stopped working. however, all of the non-digital gauges such as speedometer, fuel, etc still work properly. all of the digital displayed info such as odometer, gear select, mpg, tire psi, etc, is no longer visisble. this defect/malfunction occurred unexpectedly about 4 months ago. the defect/malfunction occured while the vehicle was parked (not moving) in my driveway. i simply got in and turned the key on to start the engine, and the dic was noticeably blank. i looked on-line and called several dealerships for info regarding repairs,, and i quickly learned that this exact defect/malfunction is extremely common among 2007-2016 chevrolet and gmc vehicles. gm should be held responsible by issuing a recall. also, for no reason and without any cause, my dashboard cracked above the passenger side airbag. this is also a very common defect with my specific vehicle make/model. if the airbags were to deploy, would they deploy properly? and even if the airbags deploy properly, im afraid shards of the plastic from dashboard will shoot all over the car resulting in injury.

It's actually the very common dashboard cracks, which inevitably will effect my airbag in the event on an accident. after an accident happens, it'll be too late. i purchased a used 2007 tahoe with an extended warranty in 2010. i've had the very cracked dash replaced 4 times by chevy while under warranty - with them fighting it. if possible, i think the very quality of the plastic decreased since problems arose originally. my dash is now cracked worse than all others previously installed by chevy, allowing me to see the thickness quite clearly, and it appears much much much thinner than the original dash. no matter what, this is wrong and extremely dangerous. not only can this effect my airbags, but the sharp edges and nature of the plastic allows for it to become deadly projectiles. a $40,000+ vehicle should not have these issue. nor should a $5 vehicle for that matter. chevy is jeopardizing the lives of numerous customers all in the hopes of saving money - not lives!! please send chevy an unmissable message and force a recall. this will only worsen and increase with time. due to the extremely popular problem, there is no way chevy will be able to deny knowledge after someone is killed. a life will be lost due to this. it's just a matter of when and how many. it's impossible for me to give exact dates as to when each dash was replaced over the last 6 years, but i'm on my 5th dash and i'm not the original owner. my current and 5th dash has 3 cracks that get caught in the wind and lift when the windows or sunroof are open. pretty crazy. pretty dangerous. and chevy has known all these years!! shameful. and you allow it.

Takata inflator i received a recall notice for my 2007 chevy tahoe's airbags last july. i had not heard a peep so i called the local dealers again and was told the same thing, there was no fix coming yet. i called gm and their pr person told me that they had tested 43000 airbags( not real on the road) and found no issues so they were going to request that the recall be recalled! i clearly stated that i live in a hot, humid area by the ocean and was concerned that the propellant in those takata air bags may be corrupted like those in other cars like my wife's honda which was recently replaced. she said they would do nothing, to which i replied that i would not like to be one of the people that had to have shrapnel in me to provide more evidence of the need for replacements. *js

Our 2007 chevy tahoe was parked/stationary, engine on, car in park with emergency brake on, and parked on a dirt driveway. i got into the driver side and shut the driver side door when the side curtain airbags in the front row, second row, and third row on both the driver and passenger side deployed. the seat belts for the driver and front seat passenger locked up and are unable to unlock and are not usable.

Vehicle resets its self door locks lock and unlock when driving radio cuts off and abs light flashes off and on stability track flashes off and when i turn the truck off and start it back up it stops.

Engine began burning oil at a rate of 2 1/2 quarts per 1500 miles, saw problem with engine listed with nhtsa website, asked dealership about issue around 122,000 miles but was told not aware of problems, didnt get help until 135000 miles from another dealership and had to pay for half to have engine rebuilt

I have an airbag failure on my dashboard, the airbags are not working. on saturday 11/21/2020 the driver side door kept saying door was open when it was entirely closed. later on that morning, the passenger seat had cold ac while the rest of the car was throwing hot air on it's own. because the car kept saying the passenger door was open, inside lights did not turned on. replaced the door module and issue not fixed. battery drains at least twice a day. had to replace the engine oil pressure sensor multiple times and it still goes off randomly while driving and fix itself. this car it's used only to drive less than 10 miles per week. it is so annoying wiht this issue just to get it out and back home. i replaced the battery, alternator, oil pressure sensor, pasanger door sensor, ac filters all this in less than 1 year and it's one thing after another. very disappointed.

I have a defective dashboard crack that began over driver instrument panel and extends across dash to and around the passenger airbag that is also defective. i am worried about safety as the defective airbag is now compromised even more by the cracked dashboard that is surrounding it. i am still waiting for airbag recall parts for airbag. it began in late summer and has continued to spread over time and now just cracked around the airbag. i feel our safety is compromised with a crack around an unstable, recalled airbag and i called gm customer service reference number 8-2670033882 to report this.

I own a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. before the vehicle was out of warranty, i had to replace the dashboard due to cracking. the dashboard is cracked and broken again - all over. the vent has broken and fallen in, there are cracks around the airbag and there are complete holes where pieces have broken and fallen into the dash. i love my car and this is the only issue i have with it. i just called the dealer to replace the dashboard and was quoted $1,300.00 which i can not afford. according to the internet this is a very common problem with this year, make and model vehicle, chevrolet needs to take responsibility and fix this issue.

I am very disappointed in gm for not taking the measure to fix the cracked dashboard! not only is my air bag recalled and says it can cause serious injury my dash is cracked as well right next to a potential deadly air bag. i believe this issue needs to be fixed by gm immediately, i can guarantee if it were their family's vehicle it would be fixed!

Takata recall my 2007 chevrolet tahoe is on recall list for passenger airbag. i purchased the vehicle new from cavender chevrolet in boerne, tx. i have called the dealer twice regarding a replacement airbag. they say there is nothing they can do.

The o2 sensor can lose from its housing. i had never done any repairs to this o2 sensor. which it is located at position bank 1 sensor 2. the sensor connection came lose from where it is held on to the frame. it caused the wiring to get slack and wrap around the drive shaft. this happened as i was driving home from work. i started to hear a noise coming from the vehicle. as i looked underneath the suv i seen the o2 sensor was caught on the shaft. i thought it was just a once time incident that had occurred to me. but as i went to the salvage yard to get a harness. they told me this was a common issue on these model trucks.

My airbag alert light will not go out via the dashboard. it's my understanding there is nhtsa recall (16v383) due to the propellant in some types of the takata airbag inflators which can degrade over time. this can cause the inflators to rupture during deployment causing serious or fatal injuries.

I own a 07 chevy tahoe lt. i received notice in 2016 about the takata airbag recall. it is now 2020! i have been to my chevy dealer over and over to have this taken care of. response is "sorry, we can't do anything about it because no one knows who is going to pay for it." i am sick of this run around and tired of the excuses! you have no problem charging consumers for vehicles that most times cost the same as a small home! however, when it comes to human lives you are willing to gamble with time no matter what the cost, even if it means loss of life! we did not build the cars! figure it out! so put on your big boy pants and solve the problem you all created! i want the bag replaced sooner than later and i want answers! maybe what we need here is a class action lawsuit that involves both dealers and the takata air bag makers!

Wow. i am seeing all my same issues so thought i better enter my info as well. first the horn was all of a sudden blaring without anyone being in it in the middle of the night 2.5 years ago and now i do not have a horn, and none of the controls work on the steering wheel including the radio and cruise control (i question if the air bag is active on the driver side because of this). then, the rear lift gate all of a sudden will not open (maybe last winter). 6 months ago, the indicators on the dash are out so i can't see my odometer or anything else you can access on the dash. recently the passenger side window just randomly fell off the track. recently, everything on the driver's side door does not work electrically: power door lock, and power window. and i find that gm will not address at a minimum the electrical issues? not good.

The number 1 cylinder keeps fouling out spark plugs. i have changed plugs, wires, and the coil pack. this fixes the problem for about 5 miles. it runs poorly, low idle, the stability trac comes on and says it is malfunctioning and needs to be serviced

My complaint is the the nhtsa is not doing enough to force a remidy on the my vehicle's takata airbag problem. thru many years of investigation and litigation with gm, it now more than evident that gm knows their airbags will fail. it isn't about if but when and it is the responsibility of the the nhtsa to protect the public and consumer. if you want the public to think you are serving in their best interest, than resolve this whole takata airbag problem.

I am filing a complaint in regards to the chevy tahoe 2007 ltz model i own. the vehicle has been claimed by thousands of owners to have a factory bad dashboard. the dashboard is made with a very cheap and unsafe plastic. this plastic cracks due to natural causes from heat and cold. the plastic also after some time will crack and deteriorate again due to unsafe and poor plastic material. the remedy is to purchase a new dashboard panel and pay for the professional labor to install. this product cost should be shard at a bare minimum by gm due to good faith practices. i would like to have my claim reviewed and passed on to gm for the purpose of correcting this unsafe factory plastic dashboard. the airbags can create and cause a highly unsafe deployment by exploding cheap and sharp shard of plastic into the eyes and face of the passenger/driver. gm is claiming to not have the legal requirement to repair or pay for this unsafe dashboard that should of been a recall.

Dash is completed cracked from side to side (driver to passenger) in multiple places. it continues to get worse and is now lifting the passenger side airbag up to the point where i am afraid to have a passenger ride in the front.

On june 4, 2020 i had ny front window broken i took it to change the front glass and the cut of the viper alarm i had on the car so the alarm was just turning on and on i try to turn it on to see if it would stop and it didn't so i decided to take off the positive cable from the battery to see if taking it off it would stop and it didn't so i put back on and try to start the car and it didn't nothing dead just the lights of the check engine stabilitrak and traction and until this date can find what to do with it i change the fuse box and still don't turn on. *tr

My issues started almost two years ago when dropping my child off at daycare. i was on the highway and noticed a loud ticking noise coming from the engine. at first i was not sure what it was until i pulled in the daycare and it was evident something was wrong. at that point the stablitrak and traction control light started flashing. i had to have the vehicle towed because i tried to move it and when i put it in gear it jerked so hard i was scared the engine blew. i took it to the certified chevy mechanic, cylinder 6 misfire. we replaced the plugs, coil packs etc, trying to see what the issue could be. he finally replaced all 16 lifters, cam, head gaskets and oil pump as well. once he got it together, it was still a misfire on cylinder 6. he took it apart to look at the pistons, they were fine. the top of the motor he practically everything brand new on it. the chevy dealership are aware of the lifter issues with this vehicle and blatantly told me, i need a new engine or could purchase a new vehicle. still no resolve as of june 23, 2020! please issue a recall on this as so many of these vehicles have this issue and it’s not fair to us that they designed the engine so poorly.

My 07 tahoe has been having stabilitrak and traction control on for months i've thrown several different parts at my tahoe it'll work great for a day or two then the codes pop right back on my dashboard causing the steering wheel to lock up and the truck to lose engine power and jerk around while driving. this is a serious issue i've had to be towed home , change several parts and can get no answers as to why it keeps coming up. please please please recall it for this issue i have seen many complaints about the same thing for the stabilitrak and traction control to keep coming on and not knowing why please gm yall are the best and need to fix it!!!!!!! very tired of throwing money away!! *tr

I have been dealing with the same problem as the previous complaint...ironically, my vehicle was manufactured in tx too, but, i purchased it used in va in 2011 odometer-73,625. to date, i only have 101,225- i started having constant stabilitrack/traction control issues right after 100,000- caused steering wheel to lock up and loss of power in addition to door locks suddenly locking/unlocking, car alarm going off, and hazard blinkers not working (all while in the middle of rush hour traffic)! after this constant issue was "repaired"-for 6th time, a few months later, i experienced a different problem. after waiting at a stop light, the vehicle would not accelerate-i had to push gas all the way to the floor, barely reaching 20mph, then, the car started shaking & to make matters worse, the brakes were barely working. thankfully, i was near a parking lot & was able to pull over. this time i think it is a bcm or pcs issue. it seems the "flex-fuel" 4wd 2007 tahoes are having major issues. this should be constitute under lemon law. i am too scared to drive now-the car has been sitting in my driveway for a long time, yet i have to pay insurance & registration. i'm sick of wasting money as well. please help us (2007 tahoe owners), fix these issues! thank you. *tr

I purchased my tahoe a little over a year ago, and it already had a cracked dash, but was minor. one small crack by the passenger airbag, and one in front of the steering wheel. since then, it has progressively gotten worse. the crack near the airbag extends from the airbag panel to the edge of the dash where it joins to the front section of the dash. the driver side crack extends from the same edge, up towards the steering wheel, almost to the edge closest to the steering wheel. i purchased the vehicle in utah. it was owned by someone who lived in the northeast, then moved to utah, and then i moved to kentucky about 6 months after purchasing the vehicle. the problem has started and continues despite the location, or the temperature. it seems to be getting worse due to not being supported from the underside.

My 2007 chevrolet tahoe will sporadically display two m.i.l. 's - service traction control and service stabilitrak. i have spent close to $4,000 on different parts, as well as having the heads completely rebuilt about 5 months ago. the only trouble codes it shows when hooked to a scanner are a p0300 (generic misfire detected) p0301 (misfire cylinder 1) and 0443 (evap emission control system valve circuit). after several months of research online, it is blatantly obvious that there are several thousand people experiencing the exact same issues. it appears there is no direct surefire resolution. but rather a common occurrence that is sometimes very labor intensive and extremely invasive to track down the specific problem. i have replaced the brake light control switch, added a secondary backup battery as well as additional positive and negative cables, replace the plugs, plug wires and ignition coil packs. it seems to be a recurring issue and at this point i have as much money invested in repairing the vehicle as i have spent purchasing it. i am not the type of person to sell this truck and let's have the misfortune of dealing with such issues but after several thousand dollars spent and discovering that it is a very common problem amongst chevrolet / gm suvs and trucks, particularly with the 5.3 l engine, i feel general motors should at least cover the expense of repairing it or let me trade it in towards a newer model with a sufficient credit applied. the issues i'm experiencing seem to happen when i am stopping or accelerating above 40 miles per hour. if i am simply cruising along at 25 miles per hour steadily and not accelerating or breaking, it doesn't seem to be as prevalent. but as previously stated, it is sporadic and continues to reoccur incessantly.

My dash has begun to crack substantially. i have not done anything to cause this. essentially, over time, it has gone from a small hairline crack to cracks and damage everywhere. again, i have not done anything to cause this at all. this issue is reported among many gm vehicle owners, and should be taken care of by gm. i refuse to pay upwards of $1000 for something i didn't cause.

My 2007 chevrolet tahoe has developed multiple severe cracks of the plastic dashboard on both driver's side and passenger side. the passenger side crack connects to the airbag opening. i am concerned that if i get in an accident, and the airbags deploy, that it could launch plastic dashboard shards into the passenger area, injuring passengers, or worse, block the deployment of the airbag leading to serious injury or death.

The driver seat belt unlocks while driving and sometimes takes several tries to latch. doesn't matter what type of road or driving this happens daily.

While driving the vehicle the stab trac warning pops up on the message window and we lose power. we have had it to the garage for the same problem multiple times and we have replaced multiple different things and it keeps coming back. as per online records of this vehicle it appears shelby does not know how to fix it either. i’m tired of just throwing parts at it and want to fix it permanently. every time this problem occurs in a while we are driving at at least above species of 40 miles an hour and to be honest it’s more of a safety hazard because it goes into limp mode and then you can only go 10 to 15 mph.

Bad engine cuts off while driving. burn excessive oil and water. motor makes loud noises. brakes have to be changed every 2 months. grinding noises when you take your feet of the gas , sounds like a 18 wheeler breaking down to stop. now the engine won’t turn over. replaced sensors and timing but still not cranking. so now it needs a motor. dashboard is cracked up so bad you can see inside to airbag. which sometimes gets extremely hot.

I came out of my house and got in my truck (2007 chevrolet tahoe ltz) yesterday morning (1/15/2019). after i started my truck i heard strange noises, as if something was popping/cracking. i looked around inside my truck but didn’t really notice anything because i was looking in the rear, left and right out the windows. i opened the sunroof cover & didn’t notice anything, until i looked down and seen two separate cracks on top of my dashboard. one long crack about 3 or 4 inches long on top of my dashboard, overtop of my gauges and another crack on the passenger side by the airbag on top of the dashboard about 1 inch and a half long. i don’t know how my dashboard can just crack on its own, but i do know that it was not there days before because i had my truck detailed inside/out after being fully painted. i checked online didn’t see any recalls from gm for cracked dashboards on 2007 chevrolet tahoe’s but i do see a lot of random complaints were numerous people had the same issue on various of gm trucks from 2007-2014.

Vehicle dashboard has began to crack in multiple areas if the dash. mainly on the portion around the instrument cluster and one around the passenger airbag. vehicle does not move often and it has tint to reduce heat inside and i use a window screen to keep direct sunlight off the dash along with conditioner to keep the palstics from cracking.

My dashboard has cracked, unexpectedly (having only 76,000 miles) on my tahoe ltz 2007. in my review and research of this issue i have seen a common trend with gm for these models. among this trend, and incidentally from my research, they are all cracking in the same spots as mine. above the driver's side instrument panel and the upper left corner of the passenger front airbag. in lieu of these these dashboard cracks, and combined with the existing recall that has no solution for fix- surrounding the takata inflators among the airbags, this becomes a serious safety hazard should there be an accident. the time to make corrections and fixes, not at the owner's or passengers' expense, is before an accident occurs. i would appreciate any advise or insight surrounding this matter. i do have photos on my phone for future documentation should it be needed. your assistance is greatly appreciated in this matter. please note, this tahoe is well taken care of and has always been garaged. it's documented history and appearance attest to that fact.

My dashboard first cracked where the passenger airbag connects to the dashboard and now is cracked in 3 other places: 2 above the control panel connected to the vent and one above the radio. it is very frustrating and has got to be a safety issue with the location of the airbag and the crack. i am not willing to put my family at risk to just wait and see or take someone's word that "it is not a safety issue". a new dashboard is very expensive. i have read that this is a recurring problem among may tahoes along with other models. these cracked dashboards are a lawsuit waiting to happen when they are not deployed appropriately during an accident. i have not seen when these 4 cracks occurred, but the cracks allow for the dashboard to shift and crack more when driving over bumps, etc.

Defective instrument cluster - this gauge cluster has been notorious for being defective in a great many of gm vehicles. i had to pay out of pocket to fix the cluster in my 2005 tahoe because gm wouldn't fix the issue. that should never be the case. when these clusters fail they can lead to massive amounts of injuries due to improper readings which drivers depend on to make correct driving decisions. the u.s. government should mandate that any device placed into a vehicle which gives drivers information for which they depend on accuracy to operate that vehicle should be covered for replacement no matter the age of the vehicle as this is in its simplest terms a matter of safety. several phone calls and 1 trip to the dealership indicates this is a "wear and tear" stance the company is taking with this issue. i found out my cluster was defective when i received a speeding ticket when my gauge clearly indicated a proper speed limit on cruise control. the officer stated that i was going 17 mph faster than what was allowed. this was my first ticket so i was let off with a warning but to have my vehicle checked if that was to be my reasoning. defective devices such as this cannot be allowed to continue as the norm.

Under numerous circumstances, the "service stablilitrak and service traction control " appears in the dash message center along with audible beeps. shortly after this happens the vehicle engine goes into limp mode with limited power and speed. i have been on interstates with heavy traffic and this becomes challenging to remedy asap and get out of the way. the original part suggested was the throttle body, this was replaced and the problem seemed to go away for 12-16 month. the problem has come back and the throttle body is not suspect this time. the dealer bascially trouble shoots the problem with parts.

The problem is stated in technical service bulletin pip4568s & #10-06-01-008m that gm sent out regarding afn lifters failing due to oil starvation. gm knows about this problem and sent out the information on how to diagnose it and fix it. however this is a known problem in the 5.3l engines and a very expensive problem! in my situation it caused a soak plug and the spark plug housing to blow completely out of the engine! which could have injured someone or caused damage to something if it had gotten out of the engine compartment. i was on a major highway going 50 mph with high traffic. as stated this is a known problem and gm won't even cover any portion of the cost to fix it! in my case i only owned the vehicle for 4 months and had this happen. i am now paying for a vehicle that i can barely drive and shouldnt be driving! at any moment the whole engine could blow up but i have no choice but to drive it until i have the $4000 to fix it! gm should have to cover repairs or at least a portion of the cost of repairs! i have seen numerous complaints on the web regarding this problem from other owners of the vehicles effected by pip4568s & #10-06-01-008m. yet gm will not help consumers in any way at all with the expensive cost of this repair! with the amount of complaints i have seen it should be a recall! there could be other safety issues that other owners could have had also. this known problem also effects other functions of the vehicle such as stabilitak system. when this system is malfunctioning the vehicle hits bumps and throws the vehicle off the road making steering the vehicle very hard to control. this an accident could occur.

Dash board is cracking and has been. called and went into dealer and always told no recall but can they could replace it for $1000 - 1500 dollars at my expense. i worry about the air bags with parts of the dash board falling into the dash.

Chevy ss tahoe purchased new in 2007 has multiple cracks in the area surrounding the passenger air bag. it is my concern that if this is deployed there may be portions of this dash that will be deployed with the air bag. in addition the dash board has crack above the drivers steering column that has splintered into multiple cracks. in speaking with my insurance agency i was informed that this is a common issue with this model of chevy tahoe 2007. i do not see any recalls, but this needs to be addressed immediately along with this recall of the airbags for this vehicle type.

When you engage the rear auto lift gate (ltz) the door goes 3/4 the way up and then begins to close on you literally traping you between the door and the rear opening. at first it would happen ever so often, now i must push the button again to stop the door from closing. this is a danger especially to children.

Dashboard is cracked all over with a large crack next to the passenger side airbag. there is now a recall on the airbags which is another example of the cheap material chevrolet put into there vehicle. if airbags do deploy, portions of those cheap plastic dashboards can be deadly. general motors, you are on notice. you have lost a loyal customer for life.

My truck is selected for recall.. but letter says it's safe to drive. but the letter also explains what can happens if the air bags inflator may rupture during deployment causing serious or fatal injuries. also the inflator can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions.. well it's summer time and that can happen if i have an accident.. need my truck taken asap..

The dashboard around the passenger air bag is all has cracked and broken.with no reason. it also broken in the left side of the dash. it suddenly happened while it was small crack and vermin few weeks become a big crack.

When i began my monday morning, it was just as any other kentucky monday until i unlocked my baby (2007 chevy tahoe ltz) and noticed a very large crack that appeared overnight!! not only is the crack above my instrument panel but on both sides of my passenger airbag! i am beyond sick. i have never had an issue like this with any other chevy's i had. as a matter of fact, the great track record of my other chevys is why i placed confidence when purchasing this, much more expensive model! i reached out, in person to my local chevy dealer, and with leg propped up, tired and hot look on his face i was informed it was not their problem, the vehicle was over 5 years old. asking to speak to the service manager seemed to really inconvenience this guy, so after a closed door meeting between mr. too happy to be here and the service manager, i got a very "rehearsed" spill about how this is an old vehicle and unless gmc tells them to fix it, they aren't going to fix it! even though he acknowledged this was a common problem. (fyi i never lost my cool and was hoping the cordial, business manner i projected would have been reciprocated.....wrong!) this "old vehicle" has been hand washed, garage kept and kid free since it's original purchase, and maintained well above the manufactured recommendations i'm sure. after reading a 135 page forum of people who have had the same issue as i, i have an overwhelming feeling of being let down by the brand that i have purchased since my first car, a 1986 chevy spectrum.i feel this is a safety hazard if i or a loved one is ever in an accident as the dashboard cracks into hundreds of pieces of flying shrapnel!how can this not be a safety concern? why can't they replace it when they replace the passenger air bag component they are currently looking into replacing? we have been trolling our chevy dealer for a new truck for my son or are we?

Dashboard has several very bad cracks that continue to get worse. the cracks are extending to the passenger airbag. i fear if an accident occurs the airbag may not work properly. this is not something that should be happening for many safety reasons.

I bought this 2007 chevrolet tahoe brand new an this is the 2nd crack on my dash now it has a large crack next to the passenger airbag . i am afraid of this airbag being punctured in case of an accident . and a piece of the dash breaking off and stabbing the passenger . gm needs to be held accountable for this faulty dash materials that were used! this is a safety concern that needs to be repaired asap! these cracks happened when my wife was driving normally , this should not happen again.

My impeccably maintained suv has multiple cracks in the dash that i believe if the air bags deploy will cash serious bodily harm. i am continually finding pieces on the dash on my floorboard near the gas pedals on the drivers side and far forward on the passenger side. and recently with the cracks getting worse i have noticed the broken pieces are starting to flap around with the forced air coming through the vents.

Dashboard is cracking apart on both driver and passenger side. parts of plastic are falling behind/under the dash down where the airbags are. i believe this is a safety concern as deploying airbags will most definitely cause parts of the dash to propel through the cab causing possible injury, or be punctured themselves upon deployment and prove useless. my tahoe is impeccably maintained and otherwise looks mostly new on the interior. very disturbed upon searching the internet to see how widespread the problem is and no fix/recall offered by gm. dealer quoted repair in excess of $1,000 to correct this very apparent manufacturer's defect. was not in motion when first observed. worsens over time just sitting still.

After buckling the safety belt on the drivers side , my wife and i tug on the latch several times to make sure it is engaged. while driving the seatbelt latch will become disengaged by its self. this has happened on many occasions and seams to increase in frequency while driving on a bumpy road. i called the 800-630-2438 for chevy recalls but the man in the philippians did not act like he was interested in what i had to say. he did give me a case number of 8-2177870626. i did tell him that i would be filing a safety report. i would guess the manufacture used cheep plastic parts where a sturdy metal part should have been used. with this latch opening while driving then how is it going to protect the occupants during an accident?

Dashboard cracking. this has been happening for the last 3 years with the cracking getting larger from one side of dashboard to the other.

On thursday may 19th at 8:35 pm, while i was driving home on i-696w when my driver’s seatbelt belt disengaged and retracted on its own. while driving, i immediately try to reconnect the belt into the buckle, but it would not go in. i made several attempts to reconnect. i finally was able to get it into the buckle. when i arrived home in my garage and preceded to get out, the seatbelt would not come out. i had to struggle and pull on the seatbelt several times while trying to push the buckle release button. after 10 minutes, i was free. the next morning (5/20/16) while going to work, the seatbelt came out again. it would go in and if i moved forward, the belt would disengage. my seatbelt continued to slip out of the buckle. as of may 23rd, my seatbelt will not even go into the buckle. i cannot engage the driver's seatbelt at all!! these seatbelts should not be defective and should last the vehicle life.

My strabilitrak and service traction control began flashing on and caused the brake lights to turn off. then it reads, engine power is reduced. this began in november 201. i have taken it three times to be fixed. first i was told it was the throttle body, then a switch gear, then a fuel induction cleaning service. it is still happening, just twice this week. the engine slowing down while on the freeway proves to be deadly. in reviewing comments in the chevroletforum.com many consumers are having the same issues with the same results (a guessing game) why isn't this a recall?

2007 chevy tahoe, dash has cracked in two places. one crack is in the left corner at the airbag (complete crack top to bottom). the second is at the left side over the steering wheel (within 1 inch being completely cracked from top to bottom). this is a defect in the materials not any incident that caused this to crack. there are hundreds of complaints and all dash cracks are basically in the same area. very much a safety hazard especially if a crash occurred. possibly could cause shattering of the dash pieces and cause injuries or possibly interfere with airbag deployment.

130,000 miles on this 2007 tahoe. had just exited the freeway and was going about 30 mph on a high traffic street (speed limit is 55) when my car started shaking and the engine light turned on, engine stabilizing, brake light turned on, track control stabilizing, every light/sensor turned on as my car was shutting down. the engine was still on and was shaking but i could not drive. i turned the car off for a few minutes and then turned it back on just so i can try to get back to work. taking it to the shop after work to see what is happening.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. without warning, the driver side electric control panel began smoking and caught fire. smoke entered the vehicle and then dissipated. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 10v240000 (electrical system) and 08v441000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.

Passenger side airbag explosively inflated while driving approximately 30 miles per hour on an inner city street. no jarring or collision occurred directly prior to this incident. this appears unprovoked and poses a major safety risk to consumer. we have young children who could have been seriously injured in this incident. thankfully they were not in the vehicle at the time and it was the passenger side which exploded and not the driver side. any of theses scenarios would have (and did) easily endanger the driver and other individuals on or near the road when incident occurred. i immediately turned into a chevrolet dealership and am currently awaiting word on what exactly caused the airbag inflation.

Hi, i own a 2007 chevrolet ls tahoe and my concern is that my front dash has developed a crack about 8" on the left side of the instrumentation cluster, the giant crack has started to appear to be gaping open, and it's starting to sag, and has also cracked on the above the top driver side dash air bag, , at the top center dash area just above the passenger right side air bag , but it's 2 individual cracks. i always have parked most of the majority of the time in my garage or i try to find shaded areas to park.

Dashboard is cracked in three locations. 1st and 2nd: over passenger side airbag from upper corners of the airbag to the air-vent panel 3rd: approximately 8 inches along the top of the driver instrument panel to the air-vent panel. additional separation between panels is created during temperature changes or running the heater in cold weather. have had two dealerships tell me it is a normal, known, and reoccurring problem with the body-style but offered to replace it for over $1,000.

My dash has cracked over the instrument panel starting at around 65k miles i noticed it and it also has cracked over the passenger side airbag causing the dash to separate from the airbag which would cause part of the dash to potentially shatter upon airbag deployment causing serious or fatal injury.

2007 tahoe with 100k miles. dashboard has been cracked since before 100k and chrome peeling from door handles causing occasional cuts to hands when opening doors. dealer has refused to do anything and both are expensive repairs. don't plan to buy another gm product - they don't stand behind their products.

The top of the poly fuel tank has a recess for the electric fuel pump assembly which is gasket mounted within the tank. the two inch fuel line connectors atop the pump are metal. due to the design of the poly fuel tank, water can collect within the recess and cause the metal lines to rust-out at the connection bends for the poly fuel lines to engine. the smell of gas starts out as being subtle, however become stronger as the rust pin holes get larger. the gasoline leakage occurs while the vehicle is in operation. this is can be a major safety hazzard if someone throws a smoking butt on the highway. there should be a recall to repair this design

My dashboard keeps cracking. it has been replaced once already and it is cracking again. i contacted the dealership concerning the problem and was informed that it would cost me $1100.00 to repair the dashboard. gm should fix this problem with their vehicles concerning this defect.

The vehicle has a faulty throttle body and throttle position sensor that cause the vehicle to go into "engine power reduced" mode which basically means the vehicle doesn't move. the engine is still running, but the vehicle is inoperable. this has happened to me dozens of times, in intersections, and i have to roll off the side of the road. additionally, the intake gaskets leak allowing fluid into the engine. the dash cracked. we have also replaced the air ride shocks (ltz model), the connector will wear a hole in the shock. we have also replaced broken motor mounts and tie rod ends. additionally, the vehicle was constantly running hot and we replaced the thermostat and radiator. the vehicle leaks oil and our mechanic said that it's the rear main seal that needs to be replaced.

Takata recall: my truck has a 8" crack on driver's dashboard. worry that it damage all the electronic inside of it. moves and cracks as the truck is moving. another 3" crack located on the airbag opening. very concern that it can affect the ability of the airbag. 2nd owner of the truck and bought it jan 2016

My 2007 tahoe all of the sudden started shaking and bucking while driving with my wife and two small kids (on valentines! wife was not happy). the service engine light came on as well as warning messages saying the traction control failed, check brake system and service stabilink system. it limped to our house and then it stalled and eventually was very hard to start. i took it to the dealership next morning and was told that the #6 lifter collapsed and they needed to check the camshaft to see if that was damaged. i’m still waiting on the call to see what the total damage is but i was told it was the active fuel management system. i also saw a lot of people’s complaints online of the same thing. gm needs to own up and recall this issue. the estimate i got was around $3,500-$4,500 to repair this.

Cracked dash, potent hazard of plastic dash pieces becoming airborne shrapnel in the event of crash with air bags deploy. 2007 tahoe dash had small 6 inch crack at the 2 o clock position on drivers side instrument cluster and small 1 inch crack on right side of passenger side airbag. after 25 mph head on crash air bags didn't deploy but additional cracks have appeared. now 10 x worst. pics will show. dealer doesn't want to replace nor insurance company.

I have had my tahoe since 2009 and since that time i have had 3 cracks in the dashboard. i am concerned that this problem will affect the airbags in they get worse. i also think that it is a manufacturing defect as my husband's 2008 silverado has the same problem. they are both kept in a garage.

At 56000 i began to notice sally cracks to the passenger side dash on the corner of the housing for the passenger airbag. i took it to the dealership but this was not a covered item in my warranty. shortly after, the cracks have extended and are approximately 2-3 inches in length . also a crack above the instrument cluster began and has traveled to the front of the dash. the concern and immediate danger is that if the air bags were to deploy, the excerpted force would either send shrapnel from the dashboard in to the personnel in the vehicle causing a greater risk of serious traumatic injury or possibly death. additionally it is possible that the sharp edges created by the cracks could potentially pierce the airbag preventing it from fully deploying as intended and thus rendering it in affective and not adhering to safety standards, again resulting in possible loss of life or sever traumatic injury.

I've been a proud chevy owner for years. but very disappointed that the cracked dash issue is not being resolved. i have a crack above my steering wheel and above my passenger side air bag. i don't think this many complaints are just a concidence. i don't see how it's not a safety issue considering it's cracking by airbags. plus i thought chevrolet had a higher standard for their vehicles. also more concerned on making the consumer happy and proud to own a chevrolet. i hope they change their minds.

I am making a complaint on 2007 tahoe. i have had the tahoe since 2010 and i have had problems with the dash ever since. i have had a replacement dash installed and two years later it cracked again. this time it is much worse. i have cracks all over and even cracks that butt up to the airbag box. i think this is not safe since pieces of the dash could fly off if the airbag is deployed and could seriously cause more damage to the driver and passenger. also, the crack could interfere with the way that the airbag comes out of the box. this could cause improper inflation or even a rip in the airbag. i think that this part should be recalled since thousands of chevy people are having the same problem. i have seen many pictures of peoples dashes that have the same concerns. please review these cases and understand that this simple cosmetic piece could have major affects.

Uses a quart on oil every 1,000 miles but it is not leaking it.

This dash crack on 2007 chevy tahoe seems to be common in this years suv's and trucks. as seen on forums/youtube concerning this dash crack, it could be possible that in a collision, the cracked plastic dash can act as shrapnel when airbags deploy. please run some tests on this as i have little ones and wouldn't want them in harms way.

My dash has cracked in 4 places. they continue to get worse over time. it is clear the cracks occurred in narrow, weak areas. 2 cracks in front of the instrument cluster and 2 cracks in the 1" area in front of the passenger airbag. with the dash fracturing around the airbag, i'm concerned about what might happen if the airbag were to deploy.

The dashboard has cracked in several places and is becoming a safety issue as well as being an annoyance (excessive rattling) and aesthetic issue. the plastic dashboard is becoming loose and unstable. we are finding this is a common issue with 2007 tahoes. gm does not appear to be concerned with this issue and has failed to issue a recall. we are concerned in the event of an airbag deployment, the cracked dash will break away and cause plastic shrapnel, impaling the driver and or passenger/s in the vehicle. this has certainly created a safety concern!

The plastic dashbord has cracks on the edge of the airbag unit and over the top of the speedometer unit. there is also major cracks on 30 to 40 percent of the flat portion of the dash.these cracks are sharp and severe. the cracking started and has eventually gotten worse over time to the point of a safety concern. if the airbag is deployed there is great risk that the dash board may come apart and kill or injure the passenger and others in the vehicle. i have read hundreds of complaints on the internet in regards to this safety issue. please investigate to find out if a repair or recall is needed. as an engineer i believe gm should make the repair.

I have a 2007 chevrolet tahoe and in the past 2 years i have codes p0449 & p0455 codes come up constantly, we have already replace the parts that those codes request evap purge, veat valve 3 times and the car keeps giving the same issues, it starts with asking to tight the gas cap (replaced twice with original gm parts) and then the engine light comes next

This vehicle is only 8 years old and fuel lines, fuel pump are rusted to the point of failing to support the pressures within the system. obviously, the type of steel, thickness of fuel line steel material is not made in such manner as to give a reasonable service life before failing. this is a clear failure of an important system within this vehicle that everyone relies on performing to a level of reasonable trust. this failure is only noticeable when you get a gas leak underneath the vehicle, too late and already putting owners at risk of fires or vehicle dying on highway traffic. this leak usually happens very close to the gas tank which is made of plastic, so you only need a source of ignition to cause great damage and / or loss of life. i noticed this fuel leak on the road, when i smelled gas inside the car so i stopped at a gas station to get gas and checked underneath the vehicle and noticed a gas leak coming from what it looked like on top of the gas tank. on further examination, found that the gas leak was coming from the fuel pump supply line connections which were rusted to the point of leaking like a fountain. installed a new pump and connections only to find other steel lines also rusted and also leaking. please, this needs to be looked into before some people unaware of these defects pay dearly for some big car maker like gm using inferior materials so they could raise their profit line, regardless of people safety.

Truck burns an excessive amount of engine oil. i have to add a quart about every 800-1000 miles. i know that this is a common issue with this vehicle and a manufacturer error with the active fuel management control.

My 2007 chevy tahoe developed cracks in the dashboard within the first 2 years i owned it. they started around 30,000 miles. i contacted the dealer at the time but was told that it wasn't covered under warranty since it was cosmetic damage. the cracks are much worse now and are on both the left and right sides including areas near the passenger airbag. i have never used cleaning products such as armor all and the vehicle has never been in an accident. cracks near the passenger could cause pieces of sharp plastic to break off and strike the passenger as a result of a collision.

My exterior door handles are breaking off. i have had all four replaced and now have two that have broken again. they are made of cheap plastic and held on the door with plastic that just breaks loose when pulled on. also the plastic coating on the interior door handles is peeling off causing sharp edges. i am so disappointed in this gm product. this is the most expensive vehicle that i have ever purchased and by far the poorest quality. my dash is also cracked in multpile places starting with the left corner of the passenger air bag and now above the instrument panel.

I noticed a small crack in my dash along the passenger side airbag at about 40,000 miles. the dash is now cracked in 5 to 6 different places above the steering wheel. very frustrating to pay $50,000 for such poor quality. my tahoe has always been garage kept. i am worried that my front passenger side air bag is affected by this and that if it does deploy in the event of an accident that all the cracked pieces of hard plastic from the dash will be hazardous. also when driving you can hear the loud rattles from the dash.

Door handles are peeling and caused my child to get a cut and bleed, lights on inside of the truck keep turning on and off seem spoke electrical shortage

While driving or idling, vehicle displays error messages stating "reduced engine power", "stabilitrak system disabled" and "service traction control." the engine power reduces and the vehicle hesitates upon acceleration. it is difficult to get the vehicle to accelerate, especially in lower gears. sometimes the vehicle completely loses power in the middle of driving and all control of the vehicle is lost. this has occurred both on city streets and major highways. purchased the vehicle used about 5 months ago and it began doing this at after about two weeks of ownership. took it to a chevrolet dealership and they said the throttle body was sticking and needed to be replaced. the problem seems to be getting worse over the last few weeks. the vehicle is now stalling on a regular basis (about 1-3 times every time it is driven). the problem is worse when it rains a lot outside. i am afraid to drive the vehicle with my children inside because i have lost power on in the middle of a major interstate twice.

The dashboard has cracked in two places. one crack is in the drives side and another crack is in the area near the passenger side airbag. i question whether the crack is going to have an impact on the performance of the airbag and/or potentially cause an issue or injury if the airbag if ever deployed.

The chrome on the interior door handle is peeling, is very sharp and caused cuts on fingers when the door was opened. the cuts led to continued bleeding.

Air bag lights came on and sensors need to be replaced i should not have to pay for this being it is a safety issue and it is defect on gmc part.

My 2007 tahoe has a nice dashboard cover over it. upon removal one day, i noticed that the dash was severely cracked. large, sharp, and jagged pieces completely broke off. after research i found that this is due to a defect in the dashboard. since the dashboard has never experienced an impact, it must be due to the heat like in the many other cases. however, i live in southern california on the coast so it is not particularly hot here. in the event of an accident these sharp pieces could severely injure a person or event puncture an air bag. in the course of regular use a person could be badly injured by these sharp pieces or the jagged sharp edges of the holes in the dashboard. i have contacted gm/chevy and they said that as of now there was nothing they could do to help me with the $1,000 repair, but they will look into it. also, if they do help me they said it would be considered "goodwill" and in deciding whether to help me they will consider my loyalty and asked if i get my car regularly serviced at their dealerships. i cannot afford to pay the repair cost and i am afraid if i get in any accident that causes the airbags to deploy that the dashboard will further shatter into sharp pieces and puncture the airbags and/or injure my children and i. i also fear someone reaching up on the dash and injuring themselves. i have several gm cars with major defects that could be safety issues costing thousands to repair. gm's denial of these potential safety hazards is just an attempt to avoid financial responsibility. gm's negligence in dealing with safety hazards has cost loyal customers their lives recently. it is very disappointing.

Hi to whom it may concern, i'm contacting you guys in concerns of a cracked dashboard that initially started around my airbag area and later on continued cracking over my instrument panel. in do time i really think my dash will have holes in it allowing one to see all of my electrical parts and whatsoever. this is going to impose a vehichle safety issue do to if god forbid one gets into an accident of any type and da airbag deploys,all of that sharp plastic will be embedded into our faces,etc. gm needs to issue an recall because this is not considered a normal wear and tear issue being that what activity takes place on my dashboards!

I purchased my 2007 tahoe to be the last car i would need to buy as i am near retirement. i am very worried now that it will need some major repairs to correct the oil consumption. chevrolet should cover these repairs as it is obvious there is a design problem with the engine and thousands of users have this problem. for the enormous cost of the vehicle i expected better. i should have kept my old 1998 tahoe. it probably would still be running and wouldn’t need oil between oil changes.

The power lift gate for my car is not working properly. it does one of several things, works correctly when it wants to. doesn't open at all when prompted, opens half way then shuts on its own, opens all the way and shuts on its own, or opens at random times when after just locking and securing the car. also when open and prompted to close with the button/s, it will either close, not close or close half way and re open. today my power lift gate decided to open suddenly on its own when i locked the car and stepped about 2 feet away, in just that moment a passing car in the parking lot was coming by and had to suddenly stop to avoid hitting my now raising power lift gate. need less to say he was inches from hitting the corner of the gate with the front windshield of his car.

1. lift gate failed and hurt my arm on or about jan 1 2014. i need repaired asap! 2. dashboard cracked above steering column and cracked by air bag passenger side. i need repaired asap. gm refused to acknowledge thousands of consumers having the same effects to their dashboard. 3. timing chain went off time and bent a cylinder which caused serious damage 9/2014 cost of damages at approximate 4500.00 gm refused to acknowledge deficiencies. i paid out of pocket the 4500.00 with no assistance. i also paid 250.00 for estimates at the gm dealer in kingston mass. they refused to help and give assistance on any of these 3 major safety problems after submitting the dealer bona fide report.

The passenger side air bag has a big crack in the dash right above the air bag. this concerns me as i have 4 children and am scared that this may deploy while one of them is in the front seat. i see that there are many complaints on this same issue. i also have an issue with the asb light and stabilitrak lights where they are both on in the driver display dash. every once in a while they will reset, but then in a day or so these error messages come back on. i also noticed that there are many complaints on this issue as well. please gm do a recall on these issues!!

Every thing electrical goes crazy every once in awhile,check engine,service tra, air conditioning, seats,brand new battery drains and more

There have been repeated occurrences - both upon starting vehicle and when driving - where the check engine light will come on, followed by "service stabilitrak" "service traction control" and "engine power reduced", accompanied by very rough engine noise and the inability to go above 45 mph. very dangerous when it happens on a freeway. after vehicles sits for an hour or so, normal engine function is restored. dealer has replaced accelerator pedal a few times, but has no explanation for problem.

All of sudden my dash on passager side, over air bag show a crack, and as the time went by is cracking even more . i just went to chevrolet yesterday,to see what could be done , and the first thing i heard was that was very commom ,but since i'm out of warranty, that should cost around $ 1300 to be replaced. since is common ,and i was looking on line , they should replace at their cost not ours.

My tire monitoring system went out and now my keyless entry remote does not work. this same thing has happened to my daughter's and her husband's vehicle that he drives for work and they are all 2007 chevrolet tahoes. this is quite an expensive repair and i feel that 3 people that own the same make model and year that something must be faulty.

A pop was heard under the engine area and immediately after that the car began to idle very rough. it would not run properly and had to pull off the street into a gas station. inside the car the check engine light and the stabilitrak service soon light were on. after several minutes we turned the car off and then on again, we decided to move again and the idling was worse. the stabilitrak and check engine light were flashing on and off. we began to move but the car was idling very bad and shifting very hard after a few feet of movement. we drove the car to the nearest firestone dealer to see what the problem was. firestone called to notify us that the cylinder #1 was either stuck/froze and that we would need to open the cylindercover to see exactly what was wrong. the next day firestone notified us that the cylinder rod was broken and that we needed to do a cylinder replacement on the car. the car only had 88k miles and we are the original owners, this is too early to have these problems on a car with less than 100k miles. i found some articles on-line where this is an ongoing problem with gm and that the 20007-08, 5.3l v8 engines, the first with the flex fuel system, are starting to fail at the 80k plus miles range. we have had our service performed at our local chevy dealer and the car has been maintained well. it is an expensive repair that should not be required on a car with low miles and good maintenance records. firestone has fixed the car for $2,600.00 dollars, and car rental fees. this engine failure is a defect and a serious design flaw and we as consumers should not have to deal with this expensive repair without any help from gm if they are aware of this problem and have not filed a formal recall on this model year engine. this could be a dangerous condition if your driving on the highway and the car looses the engine performance at high speeds. *tr

Dash cracked in several places. this is a very common defect in gm silverados, tahoes, suburbans, yukons and avalanches. at this point the main concern is the fact that the high majority of cracks on all affected dashes are against/next to passanger air bag. if deployed dash fragments will become projectiles. as times goes on several other cracks have appeared and at this time gm has refused to address

Exterior door handle have broken on 4 separate occasions 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015. replacement door handle also broke.

I want to add to the known issue with the cracked dashboards on this series of gm trucks. i have a crack just above the passenger side airbag. the second crack is above the gauge panel on the drivers side. my concern is the crack on the passenger side. i fear that if in a crash, the plastic on the dash will fragment and send sharp pieces flying. this is a safety issue.

Heavy gasoline fumes after vehicle driven a short distance. fumes apparent at stops, sometimes while driving and parked. no trace of fumes or incipient leakage underhood, however there is weepage on the upper-inboard area of the tank itself. a very definite safety hazard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since november 11, 2014, the stability track turns off while driving. i recently relocated to philadelphia, pa from austin, texas. i have called several dealers and have been told it's a sensor (that according one honest dealer, doesn't exist). the worst moment of all was during a drive into work after moving to philadelphia. it was snowing maybe an inch or two, the stability control turned off on it's own. i went to break and my truck pulled to the right and bounced to a stop, narrowly avoiding a couple standing on the sidewalk. i managed to get to the office by driving 25 miles per hour for 10 miles. i again called several dealers one who agreed to look at my truck at no cost. he had my truck for the day and could not duplicate the issue. what i found was most of the dealers only drive the vehicle around the block, never more then a couple of minutes. it takes about 15 minutes at speeds around 45 to 65 miles per hour for this issue to show. when i asked the dealer to drive my truck in the same condition they stated they don't do that. so still no remedy for this issue. this makes no since that chevy has not put out any statements or explained this issue. they have to know this is a problem. i am wondering if this isn't another "hide the findings until we get caught" approach. someone has to know what is causing this. i think its time for a few lawsuits or class action suit. seems these guys don't do anything until you hit them in their pockets. *tr

Stopped at an intersection and my sunroof unexplainable exploded. there were no missiles,objects or debris that caused the sunroof to shatter. it was extremely loud and the sunroof shattered and held together by the film. *tr

Light comes on dash stability track control the anti lock brake is on and traction control light is on and also on dash light says traction control off. *tr

Drove car across town (2 miles @ 25 mph); parked car for 15 seconds. car started to smoke in engine compartment. got out, popped hood and engine already on fire. called 911, fire department arrived within 10 minutes. car towed. car totaled by insurance company. gm contacted, looked at pictures of burnt engine we emailed to them, gm will not physically inspect vehicle, but told us the tahoe was too burnt up to determine cause of fire. *tr

I have 3 issues . low power which read a lot of people have the same issue (bad torque converter).bad oil loss. which everyone seems to have .which the won't fix . transmission slipping which everyone is having and is not the transmission it's electrical. i was told to send a complaint in to you guys. i have read alot on this car and these are very common problems with the 07 tahoe and i have all 3. *tr

My dash has cracked in 2 spots, it is obvious this is a manufacturer defect. my biggest concern is that the one crack that leads to the air bag cover...that could potentially open hitting my son in the face causing bodily harm. when i spoke to the dealership (bryan chevrolet) for replacement...i was informed that this was a common problem and would not be covered by my warranty. however, if i wanted replaced it would be expensive ($1000.00). bottom line, i got nowhere with them, now that one crack has grown to two cracks...and the other crack is on the left corner of the dash above the instrument cluster. i find it appalling that so many complaints have been lodged on various websites and still gm refuses to acknowledge and much less replace all these defective dashboards. i agree that there should be a class action law suit filed to make all affected parties whole in a retroactive manner. the gross amount of complaints clearly indicate that his not a frivolous complaint and gm should be held accountable. *tr

So far, 3 of the 4 exterior door handles have broken for no apparent reason. these are cheaply made plastic, not designed to handle the force of simply opening a door. this car is otherwise in great condition, has very low mileage, and is usually only driven with one occupant. the passenger side doors have not been opened very often for a car with mileage in the low 40's. this would be dangerous to small children or people with thin fingers as it would be quite easy to get a finger caught between the broken door handle and the body of the car. the handles do not look broken. the act of opening the door causes the handle to pull away from the body of the door. a quick internet search reveals that this is a common problem with this vehicle. a dealer told me today that they replaced 8 handles for 1 customer. that's at a price between $250 and $300 per handle. i was going to begin looking for a new car today. if this is how chevrolet stands behind it's vehicles, they will not be included in my search. *tr

I was driving in the snow going 5mph and the tires began to spin. the car was in automatic for 4 wheel drive but did not kick into 4 wheel drive so i slid off the road. i was off road on a slight incline and the car wouldnt go into 4 wheel drive. it said service 4 wheel drive and the knob will turn but the 4 wheel drive will not activate. nothing happened other than the car not going to 4 wheel drive when the knob has been turned. *js

The complete fuel system rotted out from under the vehicle almost causing a fire. the fuel tank, fuel pump module, lock ring, fuel lines all had to be replaced and had to do a fuel spill clean up. luckily, i caught the fuel spill before the cadillac converter warmed up. my mechanic advised me to file a complaint with you because this should have never happened and feels gm should issue a recall due to a safety reasons. *tr

While driving the tahoe out of no where the warning light pops on says no traction control and that the engine is decreasing power and the car shuts off the power steering turns off and it leaves my wife in scarey situations it is a common issue as i have researched multiple tahoes suburbans silverados of similar year have the same exact issue...how is this not recalled and gms responsibility to fix before ppl start losing there lives...this is extremely dangerous...i am selling this tahoe asap and this was my wifes dream car..thanks gm for standing behind your work and taking care or problems you created. *js

The odometer on these vehicles last just long enough to get out of the factory warranty and then they go out. mine went out with approximately 110k miles. with this portion of the instrument cluster not lit you can not see your odometer miles nor what gear you are in. by reading online i found that there are a lot of cases just like mine. gm needs to have a recall on this. it is not the consumers fault that gm has faulty equipment in these vehicles. thanks for your time and consideration. *tr

While driving, the electronic traction control and stability control shuts off and a warning appears on the dash. after driving a few miles the stability control comes back on for a short time and then goes off again. while driving the stability control may shut off intermittently several times. when the stability control goes off the transmission shifts very rough. the vehicle has been take to 2 chevrolet dealers at total of 3 times. each time they check the codes and reset the computer but the intermittent stability control and traction control problems return a few days later. *tr

My door handles are coming off!! i have the chrome style handles. i went to open the driver door to get in and ripped the handle right off the door almost fell back it came off so easily ... so i took it to the dealer who said 205.00 to fix it i'm holding off and now that i have been using the passenger door this one is now coming off!! the inside handles are flaking/ peeling and are really sharp as well it has cut me a few times. this is terrible and i shouldn't have to pay to replace handles on a door!! i've never had this prob w any other make this is my first gm and my first chevrolet and will prob be my last bc its made so cheaply i will reconsider if they recall this. *tr

It was parked at the store parking lot and suddenly it was on fire it was totally destroyed the front, the seats and all the motor and nearest parts. *tr

My 2007 chevrolet tahoe has multiple cracks in the dashboard above the instrument panel and airbag. this is a very serious safety issue with pieces braking off if the airbags were to go off in a accident. *tr

The dashboard on the passenger side around the air bag has cracked significantly and the area on either side of the air bag cover are bowing up. it appears that where is a significant risk of the dashboard fragmenting if the air bag were to be deployed. *tr

2 exterior door handles have came off multiply times even after bring to dealer came off again a year later. interior door handles are chipping for my 2007 chevrolet ltz tahoe. *tr

I have two cracks in my dashboard. one is huge over the drivers side control cluster and the second, i believe, poses a big safety concern. the second crack is at the corner of the passenger airbag. i'm concerned that the airbag will not deploy with this defect and if it does the sharp edges/shards of the dash will either injure the passenger and/or others in the car, or rip the airbag making it useless. airbags are a legal requirement. i have been on many forums and pages regarding the chevy tahoe and there are hundreds of people with this very same problem. i really believe gm/chevy should order a recall. i also have a minor claim about the rubber on the steering wheel and the paint on the stereo/climate control buttons. all of which is peeling off. i have also see hundreds of writings about this problem. we have already had to replace the steering wheel and stereo/climate control. and the problem persisted on the new items. i paid way to much for the vehicle to be doing this. i also have no intentions of getting a new car; however, as they problem persist, especially the safety issues. i just may be forced to . *tr

Noticed cracks in dashboard. 1. above instrument cluster approx.6 " vertical to driver , 2nd is at the upper left corner of passenger air bag. safety concern is flying projectile (s) of dash plastic to driver and or passengers if air bag(s) are deployed. *tr

While driving it he vehicle it shuts off, all of the gauges go to zero the power steering goes out and i am no longer able to accelerate until i restart the car. the lights inside and out go off and on . the doors lock and unlock continuously,. in the past year this has happened 3 or 4 times. *tr

My 2007 tahoe sputtered and hesitated as i approached a stop sign. as i stopped stability control / traction control dashlights appeared as well as the check engine , they both blinked and dash read service stabilitrak, and service traction control. as i pulled from stop sign the tranny slammed into 2nd gear with a bang and i was barely accelerating pulled over and shut the car off. when i tried to restart it just turned over. it took a few tries to get it to start, and when it did i smelled a strong smell of unburned fuel from the exhaust. i will contact gm to file complaint as my tahoe has only 97k on it. hopefully it's covered by warranty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the oil engine warning light illuminated and that the oil needed to be replenished every 1,500 miles. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the pistons needed to be replaced and that the motor needed to be rebuilt. the vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was placed under an oil consumption test for 100 miles and discovered that the vehicle needed a heavier oil. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Our extra third vehicle tahoe, is driven on the weekends or when the entire family is going out. on october 10th, we notice a knocking noise while driving or sitting idle. we took the car to the dealership on october 11th and was told we needed a new engine or to buy a new vehicle. we took the car to a local mechanic on october 13th for a second opinion and was told the car was 2 quarts low in oil. which was a major red flag to the mechanic. now, we have to purchase a new engine. *tr

Exterior door handles - front passenger door, both rear passenger doors. bolt has broken on all 3 handles and has pulled away from the body of the vehicle. this seems to be a common occurrence for all gm vehicles with these style of exterior door handles. someone could fall and get injured will trying to open a door. *tr

While driving on i-75 in florida coming from kentucky (relocating my mother in law), i and a friend who was taking a turn driving smelled an odor similar to sulfur or natural gas. within 10-15 minutes, smoke started coming out of the front driver engine compartment. driver immediately pulled to the emergency lane as a fireball exploded from the same area as the smoke. we both dove out of the vehicle on the passenger side. the entire vehicle with nearly all the contents burned, all the way down to the tires.

Driver's seat belt does not lock into the receptive device. 2nd row seat belt "tore" when pulled to fasten. electrical issue causing speaker and microphone to become inaudible therefore preventing communication with onstar in the event of a crash, nor alerting driver of vehicle standard safety alerts (low gas, open door indicator, tire pressure indicator, etc.).

I have had the dash crack in 4 different places; two on the driver side on each side of the steering column and two other around the airbag. the two around the airbag have made it so that there is free piece of plastic that is not secured by anything. i am afraid that if the air bag was to deploy then this piece would cause great bodily harm to anyone in the vehicle. the manufacturer knows of this issue and is not offering to replace the dash without some sort of compensation. *tr

Right front frame mount for stabilizer link rotted/rusted off. chevy would not fix, recommended i go to a body shop for repair. welder had to fabricate a steel mount to the frame to bolt stabilizer link to. left side has started to deteriorate also. *js

I just bought this 07 chevy tahoe before 3 months ago, the problems start one by one, when the weather start hot the dashboard broken, dic light dead and rnd123 light too, now the gm dealer want more than a $500 to fix the cluster, i checked online and i found thousands of gm owners they have same problem, why gm don't do a recall on the message center light and the dashboard. *tr

2007 chevorlet 2007 tahoe ltz with 62k. i parked the car as usual and locked the doors using the remote. the next morning i went into the car and it smelled like smoke and something had caught fire. none of the driver side door functions worked. i removed the drivers side master switch and the wiring harness plug had burnt our and melted itself to the master switch. the short destroyed both the master switch and wiring harness the car did not trip any fuses in the process. this was a very scary situation considering the car could of completely caught fire in my driveway. there was no moisture in the vehicle when this incident occurred. i have pictures of the parts that burnt out. i brought the car to the dealer to have it inspected which said their was no recall for this vehicle. *tr

Truck will not start at times, have been to the dealer multiple times and they cannot find a problem. this has happened in a previous chevy tahoe 2007 lt that i owned prior and the dealer could not find the problem. it 50% of the time will start up if i allow it to sit for moment, at other times i have to jump it. it currently has new battery, which did not help the problem. *tr

Myself and a friend were driving on the i75 to cincinnatti, ohio and my truck was fine, no issues, no problems, and all of the sudden halfway there there was construction signs and majority of the vehicles that were driving in the right lane had to hurry up and switch lanes, in the process of getting over myself an others hit this pothole that was in the middle of the lanes that was supposedly being worked on ,but there were no cones or anything around it. as soon as i hit it and was trying to get over my stabilitrak and traction light came on and my truck started jerking real bad, by the time i actually made it to where i was going my engine light had came on too and my truck was acting like it was going to cut off , it started smoking and i stopped by a gas station and people there tried to help me and told me it was best for me to try to make it home which is xenia, ohio or i was going to get stuck in cincinnatti. it took a couple days for me to actually get it in the shop which is lang's chevrolet in bevercreek, ohio and when i took it there none of the body shop men knew what it was, then because of that they said we can take the engine apart but your going to be charged $1500.00 and if it's not that then i will be charged for them to put it back together and whatever i want them to do. now being that you are a certified auto mechanic isnt it your job to know what it is? i'm bringing my truck back to where i payed cash for it and no one knows what it is. to me that is crazy and i'm still having the same issues i'm having with it before. i've took it to several body shops and have payed money to have it looked at for something that it wasnt and no one can tell me whats wrong. so i feel that chevrolet has failed me and so has gm since they own them now. if you dont know whats wrong with it then why sell them? everyone with this problem is being ignored and its sad. *js

The r/f door handle caused a laceration to the passenger's hand. an inspection of the door handle revealed that the chrome plating is peeling at the mold seem, resulting in a razor sharp edge along the entire top of the handle. inspection of the other door handles revealed similar peeling that can cut anyone who comes in contact with the peeling metal plating. *js

Twice now while driving my wipers have quit on me. after first time it threw a "no start" code and the truck left me stranded. i have spoken with an agent with gmc and they suggested that i file a claim with you. it is very scary and i am loosing confidence in my truck. luckily nothing serious has happened but it very well could. gmc does not have record of this issue with others but i would advise that it be looked into before my comments take a more serious direction. please advise. *tr

Front differential started making a very loud noise. it became even louder in 4-wheel drive. while in 4-wheel drive the vehicle didn't feel right. i brought to the dealer who stated water got into the differential, and it had to be rebuilt. this is the 3rd time i have had an issue with the front differential. all 3 times, including this one, was due to the failure of the pinion seal. the first repair on 11/06/09 was covered under gms manufacturers factory warranty. the next 2 repairs, including this one, cost me a total of $1,435.49. i can only wonder how dangerous it was driving around in 4 wheel drive with a differential that was ready to catastrophically fail? *tr

Back passenger doors fill up with water after rain. door has a drain hole but is blocked by dust shield causing water to stay in door and cause damage to electrical components. *tr

I was backing out of a parking space and all of a sudden an alarm i had never heard before started going off in my car and i couldn't move my steering wheel causing me to hit a handicapped parking sign/pole in the parking space next to the one i was trying to back out of. i couldn't get my wheel to turn to get it off the sign and i thought for sure the whole left side of my fender would be demolished. when i exited my vehicle, it only tore the paint off the fender and a small dent, it is barely noticeable, but i was hardly going any speed at all since i was backing out. it could have been much worse. *tr

Ignition switch turns off while driving and car is moving over bumps on the road

Ok- just to let u know we no longer have this vehicle. i was to scared that my family would get seriously injured in this vehicle. the stability track would cause this vehicle to decrease engine speed. i would have to pull over on a highway, shut the vehicle off and reset until i could bring it to the dealer. after seven times at dealership after several years, i could not trust it. it was not very dependable. please now that the light has been brought on regarding gm and the cruze vehicle, please recall this year model. so scared someone will be seriously injured. i have all records on this vehicle. ( sold it and moved onto a honda pilot) never ever would i recommend this year vehicle to anyone. please take my information seriously. thank you. *tr

I was on my way to work, driving approximately 55 mph and all of a sudden the "stabilitrak off", "traction control off", abs light, check engine light all came on, simultaneously. my speedometer and other gauges started swinging from left to right and then flatlined, my power locks, "locked and unlocked" . when the transmission shifted, the whole tahoe jerked. when i arrived at my destination i attempted to re start the car and it wont start. *tr

While vehicle was sitting still not running, not in use. vehicle was setting in my driveway, weather was around 45-50 degrees and the dash cracked in 3 spots, 2 spaces above the instrument cluster and one over the air bag area., i have did extensive research on internet and verified that there is several cases of this happening in this particuler make/model and year of vehicle. if there was an accident the material from the dash cracking could cause cuts/or extensive wounds by producing flying debis from the air bag going off since the dash is cracking over the air bags. i have contacted gm/chevrolet and had the vehicle inspected per their request, they didn't admit there wasn't a manufacturing flaw but they denied repairing the vehicle stating that i wasn't the original owner even though i bought gm dealreship. the service department where the vehicle was inspected verified the cracks in the dash and they were very large. *tr

My interior drivers side door handle has chrome peeling off and it sliced my finger while closing door. i have read that this has happened to lots of other people and wanted to report it. terrible design. *tr

Exterior door handles break off; have replaced driver side rear (jan 2014) and passenger side front (feb 2014). appears that the plastic casing around the screw, which mounts the handle to the door, cracks and breaks. cost to repair is about $150 each time (door panel must be removed to replace). note - bought tahoe used july 2013. dealer where vehicle was taken for repair stated that this is a problem they see with this vehicle. *tr
