2006 NISSAN Titan

We had the truck for 33 minutes off the car lot. We hit a deer that sent my wife and son to the hospital, because the air bags didn’t deploy. The auto shop said they fixed it, but as we drove the truck home the exhaust fell off and the radiator cap blew off coolant all over the motor, we called the auto shop they came out to fix it, I asked the shop if they looked underneath to be sure there was no frame damage and anything that could be damaged. They told me it was only cosmetic damage to the truck. 2 days later we had to take the truck back, the radiator was leaking fluids, found twisted bottom hose, got it fixed, then in March the truck stalled out, it was the computer controls we had to have it flat bedded back to a Nissan Dealer to have them replace the computer we had to pay for the repair even when it was proven to be from the accident. After we got the truck back it started blowing radiator caps times 3. In February, it started making noises from underneath. As of March 13, 2014, we took the truck to another dealership because the 4×4 was grinding and making noises, it jumps out of park, rolls forward and backwards on hills, still blowing radiator caps, when it’s cold the truck doesn’t want to shift properly. I called Car-max (the dealership I bought the truck from) for the warranty. As of March 12,2014 they said they don’t want the truck, they won’t touch it, that’s its an insurance problem because it has structural damage so I called insurance company for a 2nd claim on the truck, truck only 9,000 miles since the accident. MY 2006 TITAN STARTED VIBRATING LIKE RUNNING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS ON SIDE OF HIGHWAY. TOOK STRAIGHT TO DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD THAT THE COOLING SYSTEM SPLIT AND CONTAMINATED THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR REPLACED, TOTAL COST WITH PARTS AND LABOR $7313.56. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR ANYTHING. AFTER READING MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING ON OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES, THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION AND A RECALL ON THE COOLING SYSTEM THAT CAN CAUSE THIS AMOUNT OF DAMAGE.

Truck was off, keys out of the ignition. I was outside of the vehicle and saw smoke coming out of it. My infant son was in the vehicle. I was able to get him out before he was injured. The vehicle continued to burn with water being thrown on it. I disconnected the battery and a neighbor came with an extinguisher. Nissan is not taking ownership. Vehicle is 6 months old and there was nothing that could have caused thi other than wiring defect.

We have had an incident recently with the airbags on a Nissan truck and I feel that I should call this to your attention. One of my grandsons (Ian Giesse) and a friend were driving on a country road late at night shortly after a rainstorm and they ran into a rut in the road and that caused the airbags to deploy. They were not hurt in any way and there was no damage of any sort to the vehicle. My grandson took the truck into the local Nissan dealership to have the airbags put back. The dealership contacted Nissan and, after quite a while, they responded that the airbags deployed correctly and that they would not absorb any cost of replacing them. After the series of incidents with Toyota where they at first denied any responsibility and then, finally, admitted that they had a problem, it seems to me that Nissan is doing the same thing in this situation. As it happens, I have been told that Nissan has had this problem with their 2006 models which is what my grandson’s vehicle is.

I purchased this vehicle on 5/29/06 from victory nissan of richmond. one week later property was stolen when a sunroof was installed. at the end of june, brakes failed and passenger air bag light started going on intermittently. also, driver seat is crooked. dealer said they bled the brakes and clutch(?). this is an automatic. also, there was nothing wrong with the passenger air bag (then why does light keep coming on and staying on?) and there is nothing wrong with the seat. last night (8/15/06) my brakes failed again. vehicle was towed to dealer this morning. i advise the service manager that these were life safety issues and should fall under the lemon law. i was advised the lemon law wasn't their problem and i would have to contact nissan usa for assistance. is it still not their concern when the faulty product they sold fails and causes loss of life??? *nm

Had a recall on the 2004-2006 air bags and took titan in to university nissan in florence, al. was informed that the recall could not be completed on some of the 2004-2006 titans and they would contact nissan to get a solution. after several months of waiting i contacted nissan usa and then university nissan tried again to reprogram the airbags but it still would not take. now i have found out that nissan has suspended the recall until such time that they can produce a program to fix this recall. i know, other owners are having same problem and now what can be done ? if air bags decide to go off on my vehicle, who is responsible for safety of my family and the repairs to fix if the air bags deploy for no reason ? i need my vehicle and cannot park until they decide to fix their mistake. i need some help in getting this recall taken care of. if you cannot help then where do i turn for help. emmett jones

I have had to replace my transfer case 2 times, my front drive side hub assembly 2 times in less than 2 years. i have replace front axle and and rear. now my passenger side leaks out from under the glove box every time it rains into my floor keeping it wet. just yesterday my transmission went itno limp mode and i know it can be a number of things . i look at the 04 thru 07 titans and they have a lot of issues like have but haven't listed them all, but the issues iam having are not on recall list for my 2006, but are for the other years??? this is my only vehicle and i can't afford to keep dropping $ into it. back driver window motor stopped and window fell and broke, manifold ticking is a recall for the 2005, but not my 2006. i could keep going but i am getting so frustrated. i was going down the road at about 45 mhp when it just went into limp mode, so i pulled over turned it off and back on then it would work for about 3 min. stop do it again to get home. it will go into gear, and the rpm's rev and go up ,but i am not getting very far at all. my trans fluid is good. i have also replaced the throttle position sensor. all fuses are good and codes reset and it still goes limp mode.

Airbag light is constantly flashing and nothing on the steering wheel works. cruise control, volume for the radio, mode select and etc. this seems to be a common issue after looking at other forums with nissan titan owners complaints.

Air bag warning light started blinking. diagnostic gave code of crash zone sensor communication error. researched issue on line and see that there is a recall for snow belt states which maine is included but not the titan. contacted nissan regarding issue and was told that they would not cover because we are outside of warrantee? find it odd that some vehicles are being covered but not this one. previously to the airbag light issue my husband was driving on the interstate doing approximately 70 mph when the vehicle abruptly lost all power. thankfully no vehicle behind him. he pulled over into breakdown lane tried to restart vehicle wouldn't start initially but after 10 minutes did start. no codes to be read not sure if this is related to the airbag issue but obviously not safe to have your vehicle abruptly shut down at 70 mph.

I bought this titan at tri-state nissan in winchester, va. my brake rotor were completely rusted due to bad metal used - i had to replace them at 30,000 miles. my left rear wheel seal was defective and started started leaking fluid at 70,000. had to replace even though i had extended warranty. catalytic manifolds went bad and they knew it when it was under warranty - but they didn't replace them. paint problem when the truck is cold - big giant spots in the clear coat. the manifolds manifolds need to be recalled because the exhaust is entering the vehicle.

Rear differential is leaking gear oil out of both ends of my rwd truck. contacted nissan dealer and they referred me to nissan consumer affairs. filed a claim and was told that the vehicle is out of manufacturers warranty so they would not assist with repair even though this is a known issue with nissan titan trucks, particularly between models years 2004-2006. i have never towed with this truck and have changed the gear oil frequently. also, i have replaced the breather periodically as well. now the fluid is flowing out when vehicle is stationary.

Takata recall truck burned completely insurance company said to contact you guys for an investigation of the truck recall truck was parked in drive way then catched on fire next to building called fire department and they came and turned fire of truck was towed and the insurance company said to call u guys for damages cause its a recall on truck truck was total lost and insurance is deniing the case cause they said to contac you guys regarding the faulty truck and recall

Both exhaust manifolds are cracked. i was under the impression that this was a recall. when i called they said it was only a warranty issue up to 80,000 miles.both were cracked well before the 80,000 mile. while waiting on the recall 80,000 has since passed. by doing some research i found that nissan knew about the defect but did not recall fix the issues. i would thing that an exhaust manifold would need to be recalled and fixed. this could case several issues such as the possibility of exhaust fumes filling the interior, also with the extreme heat coming from the cracks could easily ignite a fire in the engine compartment.

Complete rear axle failure with 105,400 miles. this rear axle was built to weak to handle the engine horse power and the vehicle cannot tow 7,800 lbs. nissan falsely advertisie that this vehicle can tow 7,800 lbs. my vehicle never towed, it has no hithch the rear axle couldn't withstand just propelling the vehicle for 105,000 miles. a class action lawsuit is justified for owners if these vehicles affected with this known design flaw.

Vehicle was just below 1/4 a tank mark. i turned engine off. reset trip odometer. put fuel into vehicle. gas gauge took over 10 minutes to go from below 1/4 tank to just above 3/4 full.

Rear axle seal fails and causes differential oil to leak out causing a major safety issue while driving.

Brake light will come on and brakes will grind and crunch when trying to stop. after shutting of and restarting vehichle the problem will go away temporarily.

Manifold crack

I think it was in 2009 when i took my vehicle to nissan to check engine light and light smoke out of exhaust. ran diagnostic and found out that catalytic converters broke up and broken material went back (suckback) into engine and damaged piston rings which was causing it to smoke. told me i needed to replace engine cause it was pretty much no good. this truck was 3 yrs. old at the time. warranty was out and was and cost me a fortune to replace engine and exhaust system. i had no idea til now how many 2006 titan owners have had the same issue. this has to be recalled.

My airbag did not deploy after being involved in an incident. there is ongoing electrical issues with shorting out battery overnight when radio is connected. nissan removed fuse and can't locate the electrical issue. condenser fan has gone out.

Wire harness for the rear power slider (behind the rear seat) caught on fire. fire marshall said it was a faulty wire harness. caught our carseats and the entire cab, and bed on fire. vehicle was off, parked and vacant when the fire was visible, but only for 10 minutes, so it may have started when it on, and wasn't visible right away.

My truck has been showing p0335 code issues, which is crankshaft sensor, which has been replaced, my rpm's jump/sputter but the truck stars & runs but feels like its running rough, also i forgot to mention that my dashboards "slip" light remains on... and the biggest problem with it is that, no "professionals" seem to know what it is, nor have they been able to fogure it out as of yet.

Overheated, engine would not start, transmission would not shift to go mostly sluggish. this is my 3rd time titan overheated, had to be towed.

When in motion, vehicle brakes occasionally fail. dynamic control off light, brake light, and slip light turn on at same time that brake pedal loses all resistance and is easily pushed all the way to the floor. brake power significantly reduced and need to be actively pumped to slow down and come to a stop. at a stop, vehicle can be turned off and back on then warning all lights will go off and brakes operate as normal. dangerous situation when attempting to slow down, especially at higher speeds. occurs 6-7 times per year.

Manifold failure

Rear end locked up and had to be replaced. over the years, the rear seals would constantly leak and were replaced multiple times and was usually brought to my attention during oil changes/inspections. i guess they didnt catch it leaking and caused my rear end to lock up which was very dangerous and could have caused a major accident. i was heading to work around 4-5 am in the morning and all my lights on my truck came on kind of felt like i blew a tire and started pulling very hard. i was able to get off the road rather quickly and had it towed. i know plenty of people that have had this issues with the early model nissan titans. besides that though i have been pleased with my titan. i have over 500k miles on it currently. fyi this happened years back but i was reading a forum that we should try to get this recalled and it did cost me alot to have the rear end fixed.

Transmission has been stuck in 4th gear while in drive. it. will switch into park, reverse and neutral. when the truck is put on the computer there are no error codes showing that would require repair therefore nissan refuses to submit any documentation higher to address this issue with this standard transmission in all of their vehicles. on a side note, i’ve had 2 other nissans with a central variable transmission that have all done this as well. i’ve since been able to get rid of those vehicles, but i am stuck with this one.

My vehicle impacted another vehicle from the rear and air bags did not deploy. the air bag light has been on. several electrical problems; steering wheel buttons stopped working in 2008, abs light remains on, backup sensor went out 11-17 and most recently i started my vehicle one morning and speakers started popping really loud and immediately smelled of burned wires and just two days later vehicle would not start, battery was completely drained. after charging worked fine for a couple of days but just repeated the same situation. this vehicle has gave me so many electrical problems starting a year after purchase. also noticed that one of the a frames welded joints is cracked. i am a certified welding inspector and can say that it is a manufacturer discontinuity. the catalytic converters went out years after purchase in 2006. i have had to replace the engine because of the catalytic converters. i am the one and only owner and purchased it new with only 17 miles on it. this vehicle has had so many electrical/mechanical issues that im starting to think i should apply under lemon law but i dont know how to do that.

It will crank but will not start

Power steering failure while turning with only 20599 miles on vehicle. local nissan dealership refilled fluid. failed again only months later. a web search indicated that power steering hose failure is common on this vehicle.

Keep getting a recall notification for our truck. however check the vin # out and it says nothing is there. but in the mail today it says there is still a recall for the wire harness routed through the rear doors on the campaign # 06v-459

Exhaust manifolds left and right cracked and leaking less than 1 mos out of warrenty nissan refused any assistance. i was a nissan parts mgr for 50 yrs no consideration. when my wife needed a new car for her 2001 sentra we purchased a mazda cx5 instead of a rouge

My nissan titan is supposedly not included in the takata recall, however, the airbag light has come on and i am very concerned that if i was involved in a crash, it may not deploy or may deploy without any reason. i have talked to the nissan dealer in hattiesburg, ms, but they said it is not included. if something like this would happen, i am sure nissan would pay dearly. my nissan also had the brake problem that you did the recall on several years back , but again, my particular vehicle was not included in the recall, but the nissan here did fix it and did not charge me. this needs to be resolved before i get killed or injured badly.

Takata airbag in this model?

I drove my 2006 nissan titan le to mcdonald's on elk street which is like 5 miles away from my house when you got food came back to my house which is 1700 swanson drive space 43 when inside came back out radiator blew out the bottom replaced radiator and then transmission started going out electrical units relays going out replaced but still truck is acting up really bad i have replaced the radiator transmission bracket tons and tons of fluids a bunch of electrical fuses really tired of working on my truck transmission is going out and i don't feel like i should have to pay for this problem when it all occurred at one time i have this trucks financed i still owe $17,000 on it and it barely runs i would like to proceed on maybe figuring out a way to help me get a new transmission or getting a different vehicle.

My horn stopped blowing and the next day the airbag warning light is flashing, after start up in driveway on 1/17/16 the emblem on the airbag it's imprinted srs i don't know if that's takata inflators

After many, many hours of research online to find a recall on the notorious rear end axle problem with the 2004, 2005, and some 2006 nissan titan's there is literally thousands of people with the same problem i am having and nissan has yet to put a recall out due to the poor design of their rear ends in these pick-ups. the problem is the rear axle seals going bad. the problem starts at the top of the rear end with the ventilation system. the ventilation system allows moisture and water to enter the rear end assembly which causes the axle seals to leak which then in turns gear oil leaking all over the rear brakes, which in turn leaks on to the highway. the first set of seals cost me almost $1,200 i am on my 3rd set of seals, and they are leaking again. i have owned the truck for 3 years and the vehicle has 136,xxx on it. the first set of seals went at under 20,000 miles. this is a serious problem due to the fact of the rear end gear oil leaking onto the rear brakes and our highways. there needs to be something done about a recall on these rear ends of these vehicles, before someone's life is taken unexpectedly.

Cracked exhaust manifold has been noted, and/or.possible malfunction of catalytic converters welded to manifolds. 118,500 miles. replacement manifolds/cats cost is very expensive and labor intensive. so-called "common problem" with titans. imo, this problem may possibly send co2 to passengers if not corrected, not to mention poor vehicle performance and possible severe engine damage if not corrected. nissan should certainly initiate a recall on this dangerous problem.

The weld on the left rear shackle that holds the leaf spring in place rusted through and the leaf spring pushed up through the bottom of the truck bed causing a hole. in my opinion based on my inspection the weld failed due to rust. i purchased the vehicle brand new in 2006 and had corrosion protection applied. this type of wear and tear should not happen to a vehicle like this. i have taken photos to document the damage. i am going to take the vehicle to nissan to review the issue.

My only complaint would be why hasn't their been a recall on any titans that are having cracked exhaust manifolds, which cause check engine light and very expensive repairs.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan titan. while driving approximately 50 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal but the brakes failed to engage immediately. the contact was able to stop the vehicle after a ten second wait. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact also noticed an abnormal noise and leak from the exhaust manifold. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the exhaust manifold failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

Right rear spring shackle broke at the welds while driving allowing the leaf spring to be thrust up against the under side of the bed. by luck or other i was to be towing our travel trailer later in the day for the holiday weekend.a cursory search found a high number of complaints of broken shackles in model year 04-07. shackles appear to have been upgraded in model year 08. this failure could have easily caused a serious accident to self or others had the axle shifted resulting in loss of control.

I was alerted that my 2006 nissan titan needed to have the front differential replaced as there was "looseness" and fluid leaking. i was told that this was not repairable and needed to be replaced. failure to do so could cause the front differential to lock up, causing possible sudden stopping and possible loss of control.

On 05/22/2015, traveling on interstate highway at or near posted speed in mild sunny weather. the truck just shut off in lane of traffic. there was no hesitation, noise, alarm, warning lights just shut down. there was no power steering or power brakes. pulled vehicle over to rh shoulder and tried to restart it with out success.on 05/18/2015, i had the truck serviced and inspected at a nissan dealership in anticipation of this road trip. the truck passed dealer inspection. i had the truck towed to a nissan dealer service center and after several days the dealer told me the ecm had failed and shorted out the ignition switch. the repair bill was a little over $1400. i am not objecting to the cost of repair....i am concerned about the truck just stopping on the highway without warning. if this breakdown would have happened in the middle or driving lanes of a nearby freeway, or on a steep incline with turns the results may have been very bad. the dealership said the short and failure of the ecm were a result of a leak in the exhaust system (same one that passed inspection) and heat shorted the wiring harness. i feel the wiring harness may be too close to the heat of the exhaust system and could have been isolated as not to cause failure. updated 8/31/15*cn updated 10/23/2017*cn

Steering gear shifter is stuck on "d" drive and does not shift to lower gears. i bought the truck at the end of 2006 brand new. about two years later, the shifter did not work anymore. i was told that they would have to replace the whole shifter part which is very expensive to fix. thanks....updated 01/04/2016 *bf

Rear end axle seals are leaking, after looking into this and several hours i found i could be caused from the axle vent not working properly, this causes the rear seals to be pushed out and fluid to leak onto the brakes, seems to be a huge problem and safety concern, i was pulling a small trailer at the time and nearly avoided a car that pulled out in front of me. *tr

While driving at 45 mph transmission drops out of gear and truck engine nearly red lines. was unable to get completely off the road. after sitting for a few minutes was able to move the truck a few feet to get completely out of traffic. had vehicle towed to nissan dealer where they informed me that i had an intermix of coolant and transmission fluid. they stated that this was a common problem that they see and that nissan extended the warranty to 80,000 miles but i am not covered. they quoted me $8700 to repair. spoke to a few transmission shops and they all indicated that they encourage their nissan clients to bypass the internal tranny cooler in the radiator with an external on when they reach 80,000 miles. they said the cost to do this is less than $300.00. nissan knows of this and even lost a class action suit but has never informed anyone. for a $300 fix i am now out a truck and or $9000.00!!!! way to go nissan!! *tr

Steering wheel shakes when applying brakes. a few days later a loud grinding noise in the front end. took the 2006 titan to service center and was told needed total front end brake job. the brake pads went thru the rotors. a few months later there was a recall on the truck for something else. took it to the dealer for the recall and was told the front brake system had to be replaced. two to three months after i just had it done. i told the service manager that i just had it done a few months ago. i asked to see the problem and they would not let me in to look at the problem myself. they just noted that i refused service. i took the truck back to the service station that did the work (because the dealer said it was not covered). there was nothing wrong with the brakes at that time like the dealer told me. now 8/21/2014 at 53000 miles the front end brake system is gone again. i applied the brake and the truck would not stop. i had to go off the road so i did not hit the vehicle in front of me. i owned 6 nissans and never has this kind of problem before. i do not understand why nissan is waiting until someone gets killed to fix this problem. i was also told that the truck does not stop because the abs system kicks in and does not let the truck stop suddenly when needed. as of right now i can not drive the truck until i can afford to get the brake system repaired again. the truck is not safe to drive. wake up nissan. do not let someone die because of defects. *tr

Developed a vibration in the rear end, then noticed leaking oil at the passenger side axle. brought it to the dealer and they said i needed a whole new rear end assembly to the tune of $5600. said they had a "bulletin" regarding this issue! what gives why isn't this a recall? *tr

I heard a very abnormal clunk from rear of vehicle while driving which was initially followed by very unstable vehicle dynamics (vehicle swayed heavily from side to side). i initially thought i'd inadvertently hit an obstacle or pothole in the road but at the next stop i noticed the vehicle was leaning heavily on the left hand side (>2" lower than the right). i inspected the undercarriage but could not see anything wrong so checked tire pressures (all fine at ~34-36psi). not being able to identify the issue, i assumed it was just the way we'd loaded the vehicle and continued driving (we were more than 6 hrs from home). after unloading the vehicle however, i realised something else was seriously wrong because the severe lean was still present. a quick google search for "nissan titan leaning" led me to check for a broken rear shackle. inspecting the floor of the bed was enough confirmation that the left hand rear shackle had indeed broken (huge bulge in the floor of the bed where the leaf spring slammed up into the body). no less than 26 separate reports have been made on the www.titantalk.com forum about the issue (photos and documentation available). i was luckier than some where leaf springs broke through the bed floor completely (have photos to support this). the local nissan dealer refused to acknowledge a defect and instead quoted $480 for the repair. i have since confirmed that nissan reinforced the shackles in 2008 and superceded the older design (damning evidence in itself). for the record, this incident occurred with my pregnant wife, 3 yr old son and father-in-law as passengers in the vehicle. it is daunting to consider how many drivers and families are at risk as a result of nissan's failure to report this to the nhtsa. guess it takes a few deaths before the liability exceeds the recall cost. *tr

Was told during yearly state vehicle inspection that it would not pass due to cracked exhaust manifolds on both the driver's and passenger's side. i was 19 days out of warranty, but almost 23,000 miles under. this is a pleasure use truck that averages roughly 7000 miles per year and sometimes isn't driven for weeks. i have had it serviced by the dealership from the day i bought it. sought assistance from nissan america but was declined without explanation. it's clear that both did not crack after the expiration date of the warranty. it is also clear, based on only a few minutes of internet research, that this is a widespread and well published problem. the fact that it won't pass a state inspection speaks to the danger of serious personal injury due to exhaust fumes entering the cabin. why have you not forced a recall? the manifolds being replaced have no design improvements to prevent future failures. nissan needs to be forced to correct their design issues. replacing failed parts with identical parts, that are sure to fail, is nothing more than retaliation for being forced to honor any sort of warranty and a "gotcha" to the consumer. *tr

Was driving on the freeway home from work and in a split second the back end of the truck started bouncing and became hard to steer. i slowed down and was getting ready to pull over onto the shoulder when a big chunk of my tire separated and came flying off over my truck hitting the car beside me. i slowed down even more and pulled off onto the shoulder of the highway, ( all of this happened in less than 1 mile) when i got out i was so upset when i discovered the damage the separation of the defective tire had caused to my truck and the car of a very irate driver these tires did not have more than 20,000 miles on them. the tire totally wrecked my undercarriage, including the rods, supports and liner for the wheel well, plus the wheel well, rear quarter panel and bumper. there are also damages to the front quarter panel of the other vehicle. i have a $1000.00 deductible and now am unable to afford repairs or tires, i need to be able to work and need cooper tires to pay for the damages and defective tires please. *js

I was driving down the highway when all of a sudden i heard a noise from my backend and almost lost control of my truck. i got out and checked to find my leaf spring busted and sticking through my truck bed. i called nissan of north america and they are unwilling to offer any help because of it being a used vehicle. it seems it would be more cost effective to do a recall now until waiting until someone is killed. when i asked the young lady what happens next time when the other side goes and i get into a fatal accident killing myself or someone else? her reply was that we will have to address that when it happens. what lousy customer service. *tr

My 2006 nissan titan has had moisture inside of my drivers headlight since it was new. there are no issues with the light on the passenger side of the vehicle. i reported the incident to nissan consumer affairs on 02/20/2014 and asked for a review of the defect and repair. i documented the defect at hanlees nissan per nissan request and forwarded the information to them. i am told since the vehicle is beyond the warranty period that they would not be able to assist me. i contend that this defect is a safety issue and creates a hazard for lamp failure and distorts light emission from the headlight when in use. i did some research on line and found that other customers have had similar problems with the headlights having issues with water trapped inside the light. i am very disappointed in the response from nissan and believe that this is not an isolated occurrence and should be investigated and that nissan should be held accountable for the defect and have an obligation to remedy the issue or issue a refund for my titan that i purchased new. *tr

I noticed a sound coming from my backend. when i got home i opened my tailgate i found that my driver side leaf spring shackle had failed and the leaf spring had punctured my bed. i took it to the dealer only to find out the $2000 warranty through wheelz i purchased did not cover it. it seems to be a common thing yet nissan isn't doing anything about it. *tr

Noticed upon starting the vehicle, a clicking sound which became louder when driving. vehicle was under warranty. the dealer stated the exhaust manifold was cracked. they fixed it. shortly after the other exhaust manifold cracked and they fixed that as well. since then, the warranty has expired and either one or both exhaust manifolds have cracked again. i was told it was going to cost literally thousands of dollars to repair. unfortunately, i can not afford to repair the vehicle. i was upset, but was willing to accept the situation, until one morning i got a strong smell of exhaust in the cab of the vehicle. being a mechanic, i had my hunches. it doesn't happen all the time, but on occasion i get exhaust emission in the vehicle. i have also recently found online that there are an abundant amount of other nissan titan owners complaining of the same thing. there is also the possibility that if the leak is around any wiring, the hot gas may cause the wiring to melt causing a possible engine fire. that of course is just an educated opinion. how many more exhaust manifolds have to crack before nissan will admit they are a defective design. is it about the money to recall the vehicle or is it about safety after all? in addition, i would have completed this form a lot sooner, but i was just recently informed about it. the vehicle obviously has more wear and tear and more mileage, but the fact remains that this happened many miles ago. thank you for taking time to read my letter. *tr

Traveling 20 to 25 mph, up a hill, in 4 wheel drive road conditions when there was a loud "bang". the rear of the vehicle immediately shifted to the right, striking a tree. never would you expect a vehicle to brake in such a way as to throw you into oncoming traffic. i believe that this defect should be immediately investigated and a recall issued. dealer service department determined that the front differential and transfer case had to be replaced due to catastrophic failure. the front axle had backed out resulting in fluid leaking out. i was told that this was a known defect that had been redesigned. *tr

Sunday evening my son was driving onto an entrance ramp to i-10 interstate when the truck died. fuel gauge indicated truck had fuel. would not start, left on side of interstate until next day. bought some gas to put into tank which started the truck. he drove to fill tank ! fuel gauge inaccurately displays fuel reading. called nissan to informed them of my understanding that a fuel system recall. i was told i serviced my truck with this recall which i told corporate i was told there was no problem with my fuel system. i always ask for old parts but was not provided. today, i took my truck to picayune nissan to get info on cost, diagnostics for corporate for them to make decision to approve this recall work. i spoke with service manager that the dealership sends used parts to corporate because they paid for work. i ask i should have the right to inspect old worn parts?! dealership now wants to charge me about $400.00 for this recall work. why is a recall warranty allowed a one-time fix!?! lemon comes to mind!!!! thx. *tr

Sitting overnight with temperature in the 40's, when putting the automatic transmission into drive,it would keep dropping out of gear. the truck drove fine when manually shifting through the gears. problem continued for most of a year but did not generate an error code. finally developed an error code indicating problem in first gear of the transmission valve body with tcm. this required replacement of valve body internal to the transmission, which had been contaminated by an undetectable radiator to trans cooler leak also requiring the radiator to be replaced. i have been told this is not an uncommon problem, for which nissan has done nothing, other than putting a special coating on bolts internal to the transmission to detect the presence of coolant. this problem can cause complete failure of the transmission. it could be easily prevent by the installation of a separate transmission cooler. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan titan. the contact stated after having nhtsa campaign i.d. numbers remedied on the vehicle 10v074000 (fuel system) and 10v517000 (engine). after the vehicle were repaired the power train was defective. the contact was unable to drive the vehicle off of the dealers parking lot. the vehicle would not move forward or in reverse. the dealer performed a diagnostic test that displayed a defect to the front brake solenoid. the contact called the manufacturer regarding the power train defect. the manufacturer stated the recall repair and the brake solenoid was unrelated. the contact did not have the solenoid repaired. the failure mileage was 122,000.

Heard noise in transfer case, took in to mechanic to have problem checked. found out anti-freeze and trasmission fluid were mixed together. transmission had to be rebuilt. after repair needed additional repair to repair transmission line that had came off.

While waiting for my wife to come out of a store with truck running i noticed a light flickering in the store window. my wife came out of the store and got into the truck. while backing out i noticed the flickering light in the window coming with me. when i stopped the truck i noticed smoke coming up over my hood then the cab of the truck started to get warm. i noticed a burning smell and told my wife that i think my truck was on fire. i got out of the truck, went to the front and saw the condenser fan motor on fire. i was able to extinguish the fire with a can of coke that was on the ground. a little while later it flamed up again and had to get a bucket of water from the store clerk. the fire caused over $4100.00 in damage. i had a recall on this condenser fan motor, had it taken care of in february 2012. caught fire on 09/02/2013. *tr

Today i found that my rear axle oil seals are leaking. it is so bad that the oil is getting on the rear brakes. which makes sense considering i have noticed that my rear brakes are not functioning properly. this problem needs to be addressed with better oil seals so that this does not happen to anyone else. *tr

Going home from work, while driving every time i put the right turn signal on i noticed the light at the dashboard flashes so weird and then disappear. i made five right turns that night all acting the same thing. the next day i took the truck to the garage and had it checked they found out that the wiring inside the lamp assembly was melted, the wire was tied with plastic string wrap so tight that made the insulation of the wire melts and created a short circuit. the whole inside of the combination lamp assembly rear, rh of my truck was melted. they cut the plastic string wrap and then put some electrical tape on the wires, they have a hard time of putting the lamp assembly back into the truck and until now i did not replace the rh rear combination lamp assembly. *tr

Ticking noise from engine area especially under moderate acceleration, dealer inspected and said my exhaust manifolds are cracked and would cost 3k to fix . nissan customer relations refuses to help in any way even though my truck is only 4000 miles past mileage limit. this is a known issue that is a safety hazard (exhaust fumes can enter cab) and nissan refuses to take any responsibility. *tr

Have taken it to two different repair shops and have both (drivers/passenger side) exhaust manifold are cracked. have gone to nissan for the repairs .nissan has stated that its a known issue on nissan titans for the years of 2004-2007 but won't replace it. was quoted for the repair of $3,000. its just out of the miles on the 80k/8year emissions warranty, but still time frame.

First of all ,i would like to say that my truck has high miles.i purchased it new, dealer serviced only.in fact my truck was serviced by a dealer in miami on 3-28-13 for oil change ,the day before i lost my transmission because of ,what i now know to be common place, a $5 cooling tubing that goes to the transmission. my first thought was maybe the tech at the dealer broke the tubing since its inches away from the oil filter and my vehicle was serviced there hours before i lost all my fluid,therefore burning up my transmission, you would think that the dealers would check the tubing since its right in the tech's face while conducting oil changes. oh well ,my truck was well maintained,still looks great,totally loaded le, my tranny went down without warning,this will cost me around $6000.i`m a nissan man,i just purchased the new 2013 pathfinder for my wife back in december before it even appeared on the streets, should i have fears about defects with this one ? what's going on nissan ? My 2006 nissan titan king cab has the air bag light flashing , i was advise by a mechanic that there's a recall on same vehicles just like mine, the recent dealer's diagnosis confirms that the wiring for the harness are broken and it's require to be replaced, this issue applies to the same description on the recall campaign # 06v459000 nissan claims my vin it's not on the recall , but the problem is the same ,it's a safety issue and should be nissan,s responsibility to repair . this is unsafe for me ,my family and other drivers out there. i hope the national highway safety administration open a recall under my vin range. this can be a serious safety hazard . *tr

While driving the truck in 2wd i heard a very loud clunking (metal on metal) noise coming form the front of the truck. after reaching home, i realized that the front axle was falling out of the front differential. i jacked the truck up and dropped the front diff pan. this is where i realized that the clips hold in the front axle have failed and broke in two. this is a huge safety concern, had i been traveling down the highway i could have been killed if the wheel came off. i researched online and discovered this a common problem. *tr

Within a period of 14-15 months both rear axle seal assemblies failed, one each on passenger and driver side of the rear axle. according to national tire & battery the entire axle assembly is required to repair or replace a seal that is leaking, at a cost of approximately $1000.00 each time. this seems quite unreasonable and excessive to replace an axle that is in perfect operating condition when the only issue is with a rubber boot (seal) that is leaking fluid. *tr

While driving down a dirt road my side curtain airbags deployed causing me to swerve into a ditch. i contacted nissan of north america and they suggested i take the truck to the local nissan dealership and when i took it there and told them what happened and they told me they were probably not going to cover it since i purchased the truck used and they asked what other actions i was going to pursue and i said i was going to contact a lawyer and they were very adamant about me not contacting a lawyer which i considered to be a red flag. after doing research i noticed i am not the only nissan titan owner this has happened to and do not feel i should have to file a claim with my insurance company and pay my deductible or shop fees because i do not consider this to be my fault and feel that this is a very big safety issue especially since my wife drives this truck and we haul our niece and nephew in the truck when we have them and had this happened on our freeway at 75mph things could have been a lot worse. *tr

2006 with 2000 miles; rear differential made a loud gear whine sound when in un-loaded de-cel. took titan back to dealer. dealer replaced differential under warranty (2000 miles, one month after purchase). at 115,000 miles in july of 2011, replaced rear axle seals (no warranty). now, september 2012, at 133,000 miles. the slip and brake lights illuminate when differential gear oil is cold. once warmed up, lights go out and stay out after titan is shut down and restarted warm. changed differential oil every 7500 miles with 75w 140 synthetic oil per maintenance guidelines. no additives called for or used with gear oil changes. according to the owner's manual the lights (slip and brake) indicate that the anti-lock brakes and limited slip are not operational when lights are on. differential repair/replacement required to re-gain abs and lsd features. not sure if the ultimate failure mode is 'graceful' or not. *tr

Had truck in shop for exhaust pipe falling off and it was brought to my attention that both the left and right rear axel seals and bearings are bad and need to be replaced. the axel had been leaking fluid onto my tires and brakes which could have resulted in brake failure or fire. nissan will not warranty the rear axel repairs. this is the second new nissan factory axel to be installed on this vehicle since purchased new in 2006. it is currently having the rear seals and bearings replaced at my expense. this seems to be a common problem with the nissan titan model and should be recalled. *tr

Driving cross country in nissan titan. truck floor got hot at one point. later truck sputtered and shut itself down. i let it cool down and it drove fine for a while. next day all of us in the car were a little sick and nauseated. car drove fine the rest of the trip and it wasn't until after we arrived at our destination that the check engine warning light came up. looked up the codes which were that the catalytic converters had loss efficiency. i took it to the deal for a complete diagnosis. dealer confirmed all 4 cat converters were dead and it probably caused by a leak in the exhaust manifolds. further research shows that nissan titans have a history of cracks in the exhaust manifold. this not only ruins the cat converters but exhaust fumes leak into the cabin causing a health risk. this is a known issue and i have contacted nissan about this but have not heard back from them yet. *tr

I noticed an exhaust leak on my truck. took it to a reputable exhaust shop, they told me their was a crack in the converter and i needed to take it to the dealership. after checking the web i realized it was under warranty (80000 on exhaust emissions) my truck only had 65k. they replaced both manifolds as they were both cracked. this repair would have cost me 2500.00! after seeing this was a common problem with the titan trucks, i think this should be addressed. also the dealership told me i had a front differential leak which was the pinion seal, this repair will cost me 300-500.00. of course its not covered under warranty so i will have to pay this. after seeing this is also a common problem, i feel nissan needs to correct this issue as it is a safety problem for both me and fellow motorist. my truck has 65,000 miles and is babied! total repairs would be around 3000.00 for the manifolds and the differential, i feel something needs to be done as this is an ongoing issue. *tr

Driving at night and the cabin heater wouldn't get warm. didn't think much about it as i was driving less than 5 miles. the next morning noticed a large pool of antifreeze under the truck. topped the coolant off, fired the truck up and let it idle in the driveway until it came up to normal to warm water temperature and antifreeze began dripping from the bottom of the radiator. researched the radiator issue and found some titan owners have had to replace cracked/split radiators more than once. to avoid multiple radiator replacements i will be purchasing a high performance aluminum radiator at a significant cost difference. i feel this should be a recall covered by the manufacturer. the plastic radiators may cut down the vehicles weight, making it easier to attain federal mpg standards but the all metal ones just last longer and are easily repaired. how many titan radiators have drained their antifreeze into the street and then the storm drain? maybe the epa should be informed since; "antifreeze is toxic to humans and animals. waste antifreeze contains heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and chromium in high enough levels to potentially make it a regulated hazardous waste, so most states strictly regulate antifreeze disposal. antifreeze generators and state and local programs should not dump spent antifreeze on land or discharge it into a sanitary sewer, storm drain, ditch, dry well, or septic system; dumping antifreeze can cause serious water quality problems and might harm people, pets, or wildlife". *tr *kb

On a recall for a faulty ecm (engine control module). the vehicle stalled and would not start again, had it towed to dealer. nissan covered this ecm. during the repair the mechanic noted that the rear axle seals were leaking and recommended that they be repaired as soon as possible. the cost to repair was estimated at $750.00. while web surfing for the repair process for the seals i ran across many complaints concerning this problem with the nissan titan including models from 2004 to present (2012). based on the feedback from other titan owners, this is a common flaw with the vehicle and a costly one at that. also this is the first time i have ever witnessed rear axle seals failing in a vehicle. most seem to last the life time of the vehicle. i believe this is a manufacture's responsiblity due to a defective parts creating an unsafe and useless means of transportation. *tt

Traveling in heavy morning traffic and the vehicle simply quit in the midst of hundreds of vehicles. it would not fully restart but would only rough idle a time or two. vehicle had to be towed and it was determined that the ipdm/ecm had failed. the parts were replaced and as soon as i began leave the repair facility the "service engine soon" light came on. it was determined that one of the catalytic converters had failed...due to raw fuel being dumped into it as result of the failure of the ipdm/ecm. a few days later, as i was researching catalytic converters online, i came across a nissan recall - nhtsa campaign id 10v517000 and realized that this was the exact situation but that i had not received notice of said recall. i contacted nissan regarding this situation and reimbursement for the repairs and they advised that i'd have to take the vehicle to one of their dealers for inspection before they'd consider reimbursing. i did so and they did reimburse for the ipdm/ecm repairs. however, when i asked about the catalytic converter failure...which was an immediate result of the ipdm/ecm failure, the dealer (and nissan consumer affairs) indicated that i'd have to get an estimate & "restart" the process. while doing so, i learned of numerous examples of this very same thing happening when ipdm/ecm fails & dumps raw fuel into the catalytic converter. so, i obtained the estimate from a nissan dealer and recontacted nissan consumer affairs and began the process again. in the meantime, i did learn that it is not safe to drive a vehicle with a damaged converter as it can cause the engine to fail...thereby causing a dangerous situation on the road...for myself and others. nissan has now refused to pay to repair the catalytic converter which was damaged by the failure of their recalled part...and i am wondering if your office can help me in this particular situation. *tr

I own a 4x4 loaded 2006 titan le which is my primary family vehicle. around 80k, ecm module went out causing car to stall out and lose all power in the middle of traffic (with my kids). lucky not to be nailed by an on-coming car, i had the car towed to the dealership and module was replaced due to recall. one week later while vacationing in the mountains the battery randomly fried, we replaced it. however immediately following, the anti-theft alarm would randomly sound off, the dvd player wouldn't work (hasn't worked since), the sunroof was malfunctioning and wouldn't open and close properly. once we returned, the dealership couldn't find anything wrong (except the dvd player, which no one could explain). about two weeks later the check engine light came on and we found that the first catalytic converter on the passenger side had blown..followed not long after by cracked exhaust manifolds and the drivers side catalytic converter bad..dealership wants $3000 just for the catalytic converters!!! i should not be responsible for the cost of replacement! this clearly is a manufacturers defect and not a isolated case, nissan must do something about this! i hear rumors of a class action...it is a huge safety hazard!! i'm hoping they do the right thing and just fix it, without having to get lawyers involved. *tr

I just went into the dealership last thursday the 27th of september to have a routine oil change performed. as part of the inspection the technician noticed that my rear axle seals on my truck were seeping/leaking again. the dealer had replaced the rear axles and seals under powertrain warranty at 46520 miles on the odometer. the truck now has a little over 54k miles and they are going out again. so essentially 14 months after the dealer replaced everything it is out again. i am going to contact nissan directly again to get this repaired even though i am out of warranty by less than a month. this is a serious safety concern for both my family and other drivers on the road as these seals can leak oil onto the brakes and could cause a rear end failure at driving speed which could endanger lives. this truck has low miles for a 2006 and tows a light trailer with atvs a few times a year. all manufacture maintenance is performed on time by a certified mechanic. *tr

The exhaust manifolds are notorious for cracking on titans, causing exhaust fumes to enter the truck cab. very dangerous, loud and obnoxious. un converted exhaust is leaking into the atmosphere so this effects the emissions laws. the manifolds are one-piece with the cats by the way. they should all be replaced due to extremely poor design and failure rate on many titans on forums such as titantalk.com. *tr

2006 nissan titan only 35,000 miles and both exhaust manifolds cracked and were leaking exhaust gases that could not be fed into catalytic converters..dealer replaced under emissions warranty since exhaust manifold/catalytic converter are a solid 1 piece unit. they replaced with identical defective pieces that i am positive will crack like the original ones..please check online titan forums and you will see it is a very common problem with almost every titan..my local dealer says they "automatically check every titan" for this issue..i believe this should be a recall campaign because it is so common and not from driver error/abuse, and once any titan is out of the 8 year/80000 mile coverage it is a very expensive repair totaling over 2,000 dollars! most titan owners report a ticking sound from under the hood especially under cold start up-i didn't notice this on mine so i had no idea mine were cracked that's why i believe there should be a recall to inspect as many titans as possible for this emissions issue. *tr

Rear axle seals have now failed for the 3rd time. nissan dealers tells me nissan will not permit them to replace seals alone. nissan corporate headquarters fix is to replace entire axle assembly at a cost of approximately $800 each axle. nissan is obviously aware of a design problem, but will not take the lead to fix, but put the cost of a defective design on the back of their customers. nissan service representative told me there is a flaw in the materials used in the differential and differential is not venting properly thus causing the seals to prematurely fail. i fail to understand why a recall has not been issued since this is a common problem on nissan titan trucks that nissan will not face. sounds like nissan is having a toyota moment and burying their head in the sand. *kb

At 38,000 miles the drive side rear axle seal on my 2006 nissan titan started leaking spreading grease all over the inside of the wheel. this was not in any way due to neglect of the vehicle, off road 4-wheel drive driving or via auto accident as i drive exclusively on paved roads and the truck has never been in an accident. i feel this could easily have covered my brakes with grease and oil and caused longer stopping distances which of course could lead to accidents. *tr

The front differential carrier bearing has failed causing severe backlash in the drives shaft and a failure of the pinion. also the front left seal has failed causing a leak to progressively get bigger allowing more and more lubricant to escape.

Catalytic converter failure many nissan titans are experiencing premature catalytic converter failure. some failures are causing the engine to seize, as particles of the core of sucked up into the engine. this has caused failures while driving, and as of yet has not caused any crashes or fires. i believe it is an issue that needs to be addressed. there are are large number of failures before 80,000 miles, and a large number of failures right after 80,000 miles which leaves it up to the consumer to pay $1700+ to have the repair done. nissan is saying it's not an issue, but internet reports of the failures would say otherwise. please look into this issue. thanks *tt

Tail pipe rusted at flange next to muffler and noticed liquid leaking from around the center of my right rear wheel. i took it to nissan, they confirmed rear seal leakage. scheduled to be fixed tomorrow.

Poorly constructed exhaust manifold(s) equipped in 2004-2007 nissan titans crack under normal driving conditions. nearly all titans on the road (up until about 2008) are effected by this manufacturing defect. 2008+ titans are said to be equipped with stronger manifolds, but those crack as well. this crack, if not taken care of, may throw error codes which will cause the engine to lean out and possibly destroy the catalytic converter. aside from possible engine malfunction due to this crack, exhaust gases to not properly exhaust out the rear of the vehicle and subsequently exit the manifolds within the engine bay and enter into the passenger cabin. as the exhaust manifolds are attached to the catalytic converters, they can be replaced by the 8y/80k mile federal emissions warranty. however, many dealers will not look at the manifolds to diagnose the issue until after this point. replacing the manifolds using oem products is quite costly. *kb

While driving, heard a bang, did not notice any damage at first. later once the truck was parked at home seen the driver side rear leaf spring was pushed through the bed of the truck. (have pictures, if needed) the part pushed through the metal of the bed as well as the spray on bed liner. took truck to the local garage, was afraid to drive any further than just a couple miles. the mechanic stated that he could not believe that this happened given the year of the truck. upon further examination he recommended that the passenger side be replaced as well, before it broke also, he stated that it was very thin metal. the replacement part was purchased at the a dealer and i was told that they have had numerous incidents where this part has broken causing similar damage. repairs to the truck will also require replacing the truck bed possible. this truck has not been taken off road nor has it been used to haul items, it has a fiberglass bed cover on it.

I have a 2006 nissan titan. i was on vacation with my wife and granddaughter this past week when i noticed the braking on my truck felt wrong. it took much further to stop than it should. it could have caused an accident. i pulled over to a rest area and noticed a burning smell coming from the rear of the vehicle. i checked the fluids and everything looked ok. i went to a garage to have it looked at. the mechanic showed me where the rear axle seals were leaking differential fluid into the brake drums on both rear wheels and spinning fluid into the wheels. they told me i need to get it over to the nissan dealer to have them look at it. i called nissan and they told me this is a common issue with titans. they consider it safe. but they tell me i need to get it fixed right away. the rear brakes have differential fluid leaking into them. which means i may even have to replace the rear brakes because they are being damaged! they also told me the rear axle could lock up causing more danger and damage. they admit this is a common issue but they will not let the owners know in writing. that is probably because they would rather the owner encure the huge expense of repairing this issue after their warranty has expired. they will not consider this a recall. i will have to spend $3000 to replace the rear axle. i am furious and disapointed that nissan will not issue a recall on this. while researching this online i see hundreds of post.why is this not being addressed? it hasn't even been five years yet since i purchased the vehicle. i am only at 85,000 miles. nissan should be ashamed of their pathetic response and refusal to fix this issue at their expense.this is a saftey issue nissan! i will never buy a nissan again if they don't resolve this issue at their expense. *tr

Rear axle is leaking oil from it. its getting the rear brakes wet, with the oil is making it harder to stop. i first noticed this the other day when i went through a red light because i could not stop. my nissan titan is a 2006 xe. 74500 miles. i have only towed a trailer with the truck a hand full of times and never exceeded 5000 lbs of trailer weight which includes the weight of the trailer. there is also a tow package installed in the truck. i am currently looking in to parts and prices of repairing this leak. if this could cause brakes to fail how come this isn't a recall? and if it does become a recall will they also cover any paint damage that may occur from the oils on the tail gate? *tr

Nissan titan (36k miles), 2006 model. the abs control module went bad causing the car speedometer to quit working as well as the cars transmission to jump into and out of gear while on the road. caused the car to slow dramatically on the interstate and could cause a crash. i brought the car into nissan at rivergate in tn (thinking this was being caused by the current recall tied to the emc, engine control module) and they told me it was the abs control module and it would cost $1,500 to repair, where the emc costs $2 to repair. makes me wonder if nissan correctly identified their current issue with the cars electronic controls, or maybe that they've chosen to tie the recall to a cheap component and allow the dealer to then jig the consumer for the higher priced component. in either case, i feel this is a safety issue. *tr

I noticed that my 2006 nissan titan with 54,000 miles was leaking oil from the right rear axle the other day. i called my nissan dealer and he told me my warranty ended in january and the rear axle seals would not be covered. the dealership knew all about the problem but would not fix the problem unless i paid 450 dollars. they called it normal wear and tear. they offered even to sell me a new titan. i declined. i had the problem fixed with a local mechanic for 300 dollars. after fixing my titan, i researched the problem on the internet and found that many people were having the same problem with the 2004-2008 nissan titans. i found that even after you replace the rear axle seal, the problem occurs over and over again. nissan should man up and take responsibility for their problem. i even found a service bulletin issued by nissan addressing the problem. so they know there is a problem but wont do anything about it. my local mechanic told me i was lucky that the leaking oil didn't get into the brake pads. *tr

Leaking manifold; this part was recalled by nissan but upon completion of form, i was informed they calculated the mileage to be beyond their warranty. the left side manifold was replaced at my expense. now the right manifold has cracked also and is leaking exhaust fumes. nissan is aware that i have the left side manifold for their inspection and their local dealership, where i purchased this vehicle, confirmed the right is also cracked. this is a danger and definite hazard due to the exhaust fumes and possible fire yet nissan has declined any assistance in reimbursement or assistance in replacing the right side manifold due to their calculation that the mileage was beyond their warranty coverage. i could not find records as to the mileage when i replace the left manifold. the mechanic informed me when he replaced the left side manifold that he would expect that the right to do the same.

I currently have a 2006 nissan titan and have never had a problem with it and have been completely happy with it up until now. long story short; i made an appointment with nissan dealership close to where i live (stanley nissan) to get a recall done on it as well as have it looked at for my abs and slip lights being on constantly as well as my service engine light which was on before. a few days before my appointment my truck started driving weird and disengaging itself out of 4wd and i would lose control at times or my truck would stop going forward and would start trying to go sideways, but the rpm's still went up, but truck would not accel forward. it also started making a banging noise in the rear, always sounded like it was the passenger side. dropped it off at dealership and heard from them the following day. service department told me that my rear brake shoes had broke and spun around in the brake housing and damaged my brake pads, calipers, rotors and then made it into my rear axle housing and damaged my entire rear housing and differential. i am a mechanic myself and there is no way that pieces from the brake assembly would be able to make it inside an enclosed rear housing assembly. they told me i need my entire rear axle and differential replaced along with other pieces for the brake assembly and rear shock absorbers. they tried to tell me that all of this was cause by brake shoes and my emergency brake, which i never use. they are quoting me $4,200 for the repairs and won't cover me under my powertrain warranty even though i am still under 60,000 miles and i can't be covered by my platinum package extended warranty as well which covers me up to 100,000 miles. i have been on numerous sites where there have been many nissan titan owners with this problem and the fact that the dealership is trying to work us all over and nissan north america won't do anything to help honor the warranty. this should be a recall with this many rear differential problems. *tr

Both sides of the rear axle have begun leaking badly and there are only 105,000 miles on the vehicle. the vehicle has not been altered in any way and is used for regular use, not a work truck. the leak is so bad that the oil has saturated the inside of the wheel well and the rear brake pads. when i called the dealership about the issue they tried to sell me the entire assembly(axles, seals, bearings, etc) claiming that mechanics haven't been pressing the bearings correctly. upon further research online, it looks like a lot of titan owners have been having problems with the rear ends leaking even at much earlier intervals. based on my conversation with the dealership it sounds like nissan is aware of this and trying to sell the fix when people come to the dealership. *tr

The exhaust manifolds on my 2006 nissan titan have cracked, causing toxic exhaust fumes to leak into the passenger compartment. the truck has less than 100,000 miles. i believe this issue to be caused by faulty parts supplied by nissan. *tr

2006 nissan titan 4x4, while driving on trip with young daughter heard loud bang from rear of truck. observed road for any debris i may have hit, found nothing. performed quick inspection on side of road & saw nothing, continued trip & noticed bad ride from suspension. reinspected after arriving home & found that one of the leaf spring shackles had snapped in two and threw the leaf spring into the bed of the truck causing a hole in the bed. the failed shackle also caused excessive pressure to the shock absorber causing it to fail also. replaced the shackles and shocks but still have a bad rattle coming from rear end. aarg!!!! *tr

Right rear axle seal blew out and leaked differential fluid. differential fluid leaking on rear brake rotors which could cause brake failure. also, the rear differential oil will slowly leak and cause the rear differential to lose fluid and fail. as this seemed to be a very common problem with the nissan titan, nissan should address this issue and offer a permanent fix to this safety issue.

2006 nissan titan died in parking lot on sunday, august 1st, started right up. on monday, august 2nd, died in bank drive through, took about 8-10 minutes to get started, then only "chugged". was able to get out of drive through line and to parking spot. turned engine off for 20 minutes, started up and went back to work. at 5:00 on that day, would not start. tried for 30 minutes. husband had friend tow it home and they checked the spark plugs and a few things with no luck. on august, 4th, husband towed the truck to the clay cooley nissan dealership, their test showed it to be the ipdm sensor out. this part was replaced and truck was fixed. the cost for this repair was $306.16. i have just found out that this sensor has been recalled on titans produced from 2004 to june 2006. according to clay cooley nissan, my truck was produced in april 2006; according to nissan customer service this recall was effective from 2004 to march 2006. this makes no sense to me. this part was recalled and it went out on my truck. i plan to keep following on this issue until i get my 306.16 refunded. *tr

The truck stalled while driving on the road once. it also stalled at start up when i got home and 2 more times the following day and at the dealership during the drop. the dealer replaced ipdm because it was only 1 month passed the warranty but under 36,000 warranty. *tr

Noticed a small grinding noise underneath my 2006 nissan titan le. a friend tells to check the bearings. i bring it the dealer, dealer tells me i need to replace the rear bearings and seals - $900.00. they also tell me my brakes and emergency brakes shoes are shot due to bearing fluid leaking all over them, they wanted $1600.00. replaced all the brakes myself, which were totally fine....i then notice the same grinding noise plus another under my drivers side floor. bring it back to dealer asking them why. i come to find out the front differential is shot along with the transfer case. this truck has highway miles, only driven in 4x4 for snow. how can this happen? i then proceed to look for answers on the internet and find out that there are many other titan owners with the same problems. nissan has actually changed the part numbers for the axle due to the issues that are related. the new repairs will cost between $3600-$4000 which i cannot afford at the moment. drive safe titan owners... *tr

I was driving the vehicle when i heard a loud noise. i thought i may have hit, or run over something, but saw nothing in or along the road. i didn't notice anything at first, and then my wife noticed a raised area of the truck bed on the driver side near the tailgate. we looked under the truck and saw that the spring shackle was broken, and the end of the spring was lodged up against the underside of the bed. i tow a 6500lb. camper with this truck, but was not in tow at the time of the incident. *tr

The vehicle had warped front rotors from day of purchase. the steering wheel shook from side to side during test drive after applying the bake at about 50 to 60 miles per. i had to take it back to nissan dealer to replace the brakes and rotors under warranty the truck had 632 miles at the time. that was in 2006. just recently i had the brakes replaced again the pads were not worn out completely but the rotors were warped at 33,673 miles. i paid another nissan dealer to have pads and rotors replaced for $600 that seem to be the minimum charge. *tr

Shortly after a rainstorm this vehicle (nissan titan 2006) was being driven late at night on an unpaved country road in the vicinity of webster parish, la. as the road was wet and the visibility was very limited it was being driven no faster than about 20 miles per hour when they ran into a rut in the road with the left front tire and that caused the airbags to deploy. when the vehicle ran into the rut in the road it tilted very slightly and then righted itself. there was no exterior damage to the vehicle and there were no injuries to the people riding in the vehicle. the vehicle was then driven to the local nissan dealership and they contacted nissan who said that the airbags had deployed properly and they would not pay any part of replacing them or the seat belts. the nissan representative also said that the vehicles¿ computer sent out an ¿error code¿ that the vehicle had rolled over. also, when we discussed this issue with another nissan trained and certified technician, we were told that 7 out of 10 titans have issues with their computers and that the sensor under the vehicle is prone to come loose. it doesn't seem logical that a minor incident like this could cause the airbags to deploy and have to be replaced along with the seat belts unless the system in this vehicle was defective. it cost more than $5,000 to replace the airbags and the seat belts and nissan would not pay any of this amount. *tr

I took my titan in to have the rotors turned and was informed that the rear axle seals were leaking. according to what i have read and been told this is very common to the titans and can ruin your brakes as well. some people have reported having to replace them 2 or 3 times. nissan now recommends changing out the entire axle at your expense unless it is still under warranty. the problem is mine have probably been leaking since it was under warranty, but is now too late because it is no longer under warranty and you can't tell that they are leaking until it has been leaking long enough to get gear oil to a visible spot. i haven't had it fixed yet as i am weighing out the best option for me as far as replacing the seals or the whole axle assembly. this is very dangerous due to the possible ramifications to he brake system. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan titan king cab 4x4. last thursday i heard a loud bang in the back end of my truck. i looked around and didn't really notice anything. friday i heard more noise from the back end and made and appointment to have it looked at. saturday was more noise, but getting much worse. sunday i went to put something in the bed of my truck and saw a hole on the back passengers side corner with a part coming through the bed. i then got underneath my truck to find that the leaf spring had broken in half and fired a piece of my suspension through the bed of my truck. i brought it to be fixed today and the mechanic said that he had seen a lot of these with a bad weld and that i should contact nissan because he heard they were possibly going to recall them for leaf spring. i checked online and couldn't find a recall for a bad weld on a leaf spring, but i did find thousands of other people complaining about the same thing so that is why i am filing a complaint. hopefully nissan does something about them like toyota is doing because they are taking care of their faulty leaf springs. *tr

I have owned my 2006 crew cab since dec 2006 and have had problems with steering wheel shaking while braking. took truck to dealer in 2008 miles 10, 850 they turned the rotors and applied grease. took truck back to dealer on july 9th 2010 and they again said rotors needed to be turned the truck only has 27,980 miles. the service man said the rotors were no longer covered and i would have to pay have rotors turned. i was told the rotors were good for 30,000 miles. i think it's strange that the rotors need to be turned every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. service man acted like this was a command thing and that it was the drivers fault not the company's. i asked about recalls at the dealer and was told they would contact me i have not heard from the dealer since. nissan needs to see this as a manufacturers defect and make a recall. *tr

I placed my truck on a lift to inspect the underbody and change my oil. during the process, i saw liquid streaks down the inside of my left rear wheel hub and rotor. i had determined the rear axle seal was the leaking culprit, enabling axle fluid to drain onto the wheel hub and brake assembly. although brake performance was noticeably degraded, the situation could have become far worse. the nissan dealership replaced the seal assembly, but i am not confident this will correct the issue. numerous incidents similar to this nature have been reported on nissan titan auto clubs, such as www.titantalk.com/forums. the dealership already had a technical service bulletin (with a third revision date over 3 years being out in service) - this tells me that nissan knows there is a problem with the axle, but will not recall the vehicles and fix them properly. *tr

Tire sidewall separation. on 4/25/2009, i purchased 4 new toyo open country h/t, p265/70r18 truck tires for my 2006 nissan titan pickup truck. on sunday, 5/3/2010, i noticed the right front tire had a small chunk of the black outside sidewall missing. upon inspection, i could not find where any type of debris had hit the tire, nor could i find where any of the other tires had been damaged. the following day, i took the vehicle back to the dealer to have them inspect the damage. at the time of purchase, the total vehicle mileage was 30,586. as of this date, the mileage is 40,845. a total of 10,259 miles have been driven since the tires were purchased. as the tires came with a 60k mile damage warranty, i was expecting to have the tire replaced and to pay any mileage adjustment fee. the dealer instead informed me that, because of the type of damage, they would have to contact toyo and obtain their approval to replace the tire. i was told until toyo contacted them, there was nothing they could do, but that it was safe to continue driving the vehicle. i have contacted the dealer regularly, and have told that toyo has yet to respond. after checking the ntsb.gov website, the only recall for a tire close to the one i have mentioned is a toyo open country a/t model. *tr

I have owned my 2006 titan crew cab since 2008 and have had multiple brake service requests performed for "brake judder". previous solution was to turn the rotors back to true until rotors can no longer be turned and new oem rotors are acquired that will start the whole process over again. this is a temporary fix for the larger problem. brake rotor size and material selected for the 2006 nissan titan model is inadequate to provide enough surface area and venting for proper heat dissipation to prevent warpage of the oem brake rotors. this brake rotor turning service was performed 10,000 miles ago, 5,000 miles ago and the vehicle is currently in need of the same service. a vehicle with less than 50,000 miles that is driven less than 12,000 miles per year should not have had 3 brake service issues for the same manufacturers defect. my personal solution (because nissan has failed to recognize this as a defect in need of a recall) is to upgrade the oem brake hardware with aftermarket performance slotted and dimpled rotors and ceramic brake pads to provide for adequate heat dissipation and prevent rotor warpage.

I had an accident in my 2006 nissan titan in july 08. i was pulling into a parking spot when the engine roared the truck quickly moved forward and i was unable to stop the truck. the only thing that stopped the truck was a cement spindle fence. i destroyed 10 feet of fence and my insurance had to pay for the damages. i took the truck to nissan and they checked it, but they stated they were unable to duplicate the problem, they then performed the 30000 mile maintenance for approx $600. the nissan service person told me that i must have pushed the gas and the brake at the same time to cause the accident. i then took the truck to an open field and pushed the brake and the gas pedal at the same time and the tires just spun and the truck did not move. i tried the same thing in an empty parking lot, the tires spun and the truck did not move. i ended up getting rid of the truck because i was afraid if the truck sped forward on its own again and i could not stop it i might get hurt or killed. i believe that there is some type of defect that caused the engine to roar and cause the truck to speed forward. i filed a police/accident report with the local police. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan titan and just before 60,000 miles the rear end failed. i was on the highway doing about 65mph. the rear started to make noise so i pulled off the road to take a look. when i looked under the truck there was differential fluid all over the rear of the truck and under. so i called a tow truck. when the tow truck arrived i pull my truck up to the flat bed, when the tow truck driver went to pull my nissan up on the flat bed the rear end was locked up, i had it in neutral at the time. i started my truck and put it in drive and there was a loud noise, i looked under the truck to notice my drive shaft had fallen off and was on the ground. this was very upsetting, i just kept thinking what if i had the music on or something and didn't hear the noise when i did. if this had happened at highway speeds i could have been killed. a locked up rear end or a drive shaft falling off at high speeds is a very serious safety issue. i have done some research on this matter and found that this is not an isolated incident. there are quite a bit of people having this same issue. i love my truck and have taken very good care of it, did all my required services. when this happened i still fell under the 60,000mile powertrain warranty, i had about 56k at the time, and they replaced the entire rear end assembly. i would assume that nissan is aware of this issue, due to the number of complaints that i have found, and should do something about it before someone is killed. *tr

11/16/09 car (2006 titan - crew cab) died while turning out of a street of on-coming traffic. could have been hit by a car but wasn't. car eventually started after a few starts. 11/17/09 car did not start at all; car had to be towed to nissan service department 11/17/09 nissan service department suspected a problem with the ipdm = intelligent power distributor module- the part that provides power for the whole vehicle to run. service department has indicated that the part is hard to come by because of the backlog in manufacturing the part. after diagnostics, it was the ipdm and was told that the part will take about 3 weeks to order. after talking to service rep, they have indicated that they had several cars that were waiting for the part for their car. 11/25/09: part received and car will be fixed by end of today and ready for pick up. cost of part and labor should not be at consumer cost but at the manufacturer because of the inconvenience that this has caused. *tr

I have a nissan titan 2006 and had to replace my fuel pump 2 times and now i have rear axle leaking and i now have 2 cracked manifolds which dealer told me is very common also i need to replace the flow for heating and cooling. i am very concerned with the exhaust leaking which could only be done by getting the truck very hot which if i did i would of had to do head gaskets. which are ok. also i had to replace the radiator it had 2 cracks in where it is bolted they give and became weak. i don't abuse my truck i love it i have never got it hot i maintain it as much as possible. alot of the complaints i have read are the same a mine what does it take to get this resolved. call me we need to band together and fix this. *tr

Routine inspection of rear axle revealed axle seal leak on passenger side. left rear axle seal blew out and leaked differential fluid. differential fluid leaking on rear brake rotors which could cause brake failure, which was a major safety concern to me. at time of failure at 53675 miles no suspension modifications had been done to vehicle. also, the rear differential oil will slowly leak and cause the rear differential to lose fluid and fail. nissan replaced spacer axle (43070-7s200), bearing (40210-7s210), and seal (43252-7s200). as this seemed to be a very common problem with the nissan titan, nissan should address this issue and offer a permanent fix so weould not be faced with the safety issue in the future.

I have owned a 2006 nissan titan since march 17, 2006 and have had a severe rear axle leak two times in less than 32,000 miles. the first leak was due to a faulty left side axle seal and was replaced under warranty. the latest leak, which was communicating differential oil over the entire underbelly of the truck including the exhaust system and rear brake rotors was determined to be a faulty pinion seal which was repaired under warranty. i am afraid that this will be a recurring issue that may have potential for fire or unsafe vehicle operation due to oil reaching the brake rotors and the exhaust system. *tr

I have taken this avenue due to the fact that the phone numbers they gave me on my recall notice went no where. it seemed the 2 numbers i did call were no help so i am resorting to the internet process they offered. in my notification it states that the nissan titan/armada's - 2005-2006 models - that the air conditioner condenser fan motor have been manufactured out of specifications, that inadequate water drainage allows moisture to build-up leading to increased temperatures in the motor which in turn could cause wiring to melt the insulation and other plastic components and ultimately result in a fire. now there solution is to install a special protector kit to eliminate a potential fire to occur. my complaint is that if indeed these have been manufactured out of spec's then they need to be replaced not modified. i would hope that they would stand up and take responsibility and do the right thing, after all we paid a good sum of money for these vehicles and expect these items when they arrive to be handled in a professional manner, not by some rinky-dinky part installed to get them out of this problem that has risen. all i ask is that this be looked into, i'm not saying the part they wish and have already installed from my information on vehicles already wouldn't suffice but that is not what i paid for. thank-you *tr

The rear seat seat-belts of my nissan titan truck will tighten into a locked position causing the passenger to become immobilized against the seat back. the only way to undo the locked seat-belt is to completely disengage it, and then re-lock it. however, it's then just a matter of time before it locks up again forcing the passenger to unlock it. this is obviously a safety hazard, because the passenger has to undo their seat-belt while the vehicle is in motion so they can move. i have complained to the nissan dealer and they have replaced the seat belts on three different occasions, but the problem persists, and they say they can't fix them. i have verified with other 2006 nissan titan owners and they have noted the same problem, and the nissan dealer admitted they have had others with the same problem. they need to redesign the rear seat belts or use different types that won't tighten and lock up when people are simply sitting in them, which creates this serious safety hazard. i always insist that anyone riding with me use the seat belts, but i have noted on occasion that some have released them without telling me, because the seat belt had locked up on them, causing too much discomfort. maybe you can get nissan to correct this serious safety problem, because they won't listen to me (they simply replace the defective seat belt with a similar defective one). *tr

The driver side rear leaf spring shackle came apart at the weld and the back of the leaf spring punched up through the bed of my truck. this happened while driving and was not accompanied by any loud noise or any indication that something had gone drastically wrong. this is a 4x4, off-road/work truck. these shackles should never break, let alone only after 3 winters. upon further inspection, i also found that the passenger side rear leaf spring shackle is showing signs of stress and cracking. i had it towed to a nissan dealer and was told they could not do anything for me. i called nissan customer care and haven't heard any info from them either. i have had truck towed out of nissan dealer and have obtained some heavy-duty aftermarket shackles which i plan to install. *tr

I own a 2006 nissan titan p/u and through the years i noticed some rust on my rear bumper. i decided to take it to the local dealership to have it check before my warranty ran out. the service manager said that it's from the rubber strip that is placed on the bumper and that when you step on it to gain access to the bed it tends to move and scratch the bumper and that is why you have rust. i told the manager i barely use the bumper so how can that be the cause. i asked if this is covered since it's the fault of the rubber strip and the way is was placed on the bumper, and his answer was no and that they would only cover it if it was rotted through. i do not have an extended warranty and by the time it does rot through my warranty would be expired. i feel this is the fault of nissan for not using the proper material or application, so why should i pay the price for their mistakes? i hope you can direct me on how i can resolve this matter. *tr thank you mr. allen nealy

My 06 titan 4wd had just had repairs to the transmission done 2-3 days prior to the incident. my truck had been running in my driveway with the ac and radio going for some time while i was doing various cleaning and other stuff outside. i was sitting in the drivers seat cooling off with my eyes closed when my neighbor came running out screaming that my truck was on fire. when i looked at the hood flames were visible and smoke. she called the fire dept while i used the hose to extinguish the fire the best i could until the fire dept arrived. a nissan rep investigated the fire and said it was not the company problem. shortly later i receive the recall concerning the ac unit and that it may lead to fire. we had no insurance at the time but it was still under warranty. is this legal? *tr

Noise in condenser fan motor. this is 3rd time since purchase of titan in april 2006 that i have had this truck to dealer. 1st time, replace a/c condenser, 2nd time in 2007 replace compressor, 2nd condenser and kept vehicle for 3 weeks. this summer the condenser motor. they said had recall on it and patched a section of the motor with a/c tape and wrapped the wiring with tape and put a wedge between motor and bracket. my wife waited to have it repaired and 4 hours later went home. i work out of town and i checked the internet for recalls and found more than just this problem with the truck but, have not been told by nissan or the dealer of these other recalls. the last time my truck was kept for 3 weeks i reported to nissan the problems and was cut off when i was giving my complaint to customer service {?}. never heard from them or the local dealer sparks nissan.oh yes, i also had to have the battery replaced in march 2008 as it died and would not hold a charge and it was on a weekend and had to be repaired before i left town and no way for my wife to go. the dealer owner here does not care about his customers after the sell and each time someone ask me how i like my truck; i tell them how we have been treated and what problems we have had. i suggest strongly that the highway traffic safety admin. contact these manufactures and enforce the recalls. some of these can be fatal in an accident. this is all unacceptable for the amount of money that is spent on the purchase of a vehicle. *tr

1. i own a 2006 nissan titan crew cab se. after normal driving of the vehicle for 2 years and 2 months the vehicle requires an alignment. the vehicle has no way to adjust the camber. there was no camber kit installed on the vehicle from the factory. every manufacturer knows that part of proper maintenance is realigning the vehicle. 2. i have searched the internet to find out if other titan owners have had this problem and i have found numerous blogs of 2006 nissan titans having the same problem. this is the only year i have found that nissan failed to provide the ability to align the vehicle. 3. nissan has done nothing to correct this problem. when nissan is contacted they inform me that there is nothing they can do since my vehicle is out of warranty since i have exceeded the 36,000 miles. i am told that i have to purchase a camber kit from nissan in order to align the vehicle. *tr

I was changing rear differential oil found leaking form the driver side axle seal and pinion gear shaft front seal. if axle seal leak gets worse it might get on to the abs sensor and brake disk and emergency brake (little drum disk) and cause serious safety problem. also if i did not know about this and kept driving this axle only hold about 2 quarts of gear oil, all oil can leak out and cause differential failure problem suddenly and it is a serious safety issue also. leaking oil is also a environmental hazarded. so many people seems to have this problem, by researching on the internet. *jb

On april 16, 2007 thenissan titan' driver side rear door caught on fire. there was nothing in the door pocket that could have ignited, just a bottle of water, and the keys were out of the ignition. the fire appeared to have started around the speaker area and spread to the rest of the door panel. i got the fire put out before it spread to the rest of the truck, but the rear seat and door were destroyed. *ak

Left rear axle seal blew out and leaked differential fluid. differential fluid leaking on rear brake rotors which could cause brake failure, which was a major safety concern to me. at time of failure at 8000 miles no suspension modifications had been done to vehicle. also, the rear differential oil will slowly leak and cause the rear differential to lose fluid and fail. nissan replaced spacer axle (43070-7s200), bearing (40210-7s210), and seal (43252-7s200). as this seemed to be a very common problem with the nissan titan, nissan should address this issue and offer a permanent fix so weould not be faced with the safety issue in the future. *ak

Truck became stuck in a muddy ditch, used 4 wheel drive to get out of the ditch. after pulling out of ditch truck was turned off with truck in 4 wheel drive. in an attempt to get out of the ditch the truck did spin, but not excessively. when truck was restarted, there was a warning on the instrument panel. truck would not go forward, but would go in reverse. had truck towed to dealership for repair. although the truck is still under complete warranty, the dealer refused to repair the transmission under warranty stating that the transmission was burned up and that the truck had been abused because there was mud on the truck. *jb

I drive daily on unlit roads, and this problem frequently occurs. my 2006 nissan titan's air conditioning/heating controls response to change is slow with headlights on (10-15 seconds to move from floor to defrost), causing a safety problem when needing to defrost at night. nissan indicated this safety problem is the result of poor design for titans since the engineers chose to use the variable voltage from the instrument panel light rheostat to power the hvac controls. this 15 second delay causes a safety problem since when driving at night since the driver may be unaware that the windshield is fogged until oncoming traffic comes into view. when switching between modes (in this case, heat to defrost), by the time air begins to blow over the windshield, the truck has traveled 1100 feet without me being able to see the road (at 50 mph). this has made me run off the road, or nearly run off the road, numerous times (at least 10 that i remember). the only other option is to turn the instrument panels to full bright which blinds me during nighttime driving (just as unacceptable as a fogged windshield). nissan currently has no repair for this malfunction. *nm

Ever since i bought my titan (3-3-06) i noticed a whining noise at speed when i let off of the gas. i always thought it was tire noise. well on november 15, 2006 i noticed a real bad grinding/whining noise when i decelerated. there was only 6900 miles on the truck. i took the truck to the dealership and a mechanic rode with me up the street and back and said that my truck had problems. i left the truck at the dealership overnight and they replaced the entire rear end. the mechanic said that my truck had problems before i even bought it and that the whining noise i always heard was the rear end and not the tires. *nm

On the nissan 2006 titan le, the front seat belts will not full retract when unbuckled. if not noticed prevents the door from fully closing or if the door does close on the belt, the person wearing the belt is not fully restrained. in the event of a crash could be thrown into the windshield or from the vehicle. this seat belt defect was reported to the dealer and the reply was " they are all like that". *jb

06 nissan titan pickup comes equipped with goodyear wrangler sra265 70 r/18 tires. this is a road tire with virtually no traction match for a light rear pickup truck. truck experiences rear tire spin and hydroplaning on wet roads. almost lost control twice. nissan nor goodyear will do anything about resolving this problem. this is going to get someone killed. this tire is a total mis match for this vehicle. *nm

I was driving the vehicle down a city street approximately 40 mph, when a loud, banging, clanking noise erupted from the rear end. the truck began to shake and the rear tires momentarily seized up putting the vehicle into a skid, which i was able to correct. the rear end then began to free wheel and i pulled to the side of the road. only by temporarily putting the vehicle into 4wd was i able to get safely off the roadway. i had vehicle towed to nissan dealership for diagnosis and repair. truck is under warranty with nissan. dealer diagnosed a complete failure of the rear differential and replaced entire rear axle under warranty. *jb

Rear end started humming at 1300 miles. i was in my yard just starting off pulling my horse trailer (about 2 miles per hour) and i heard this humming high pitched whine. i am going to call the dealership tight away. *jb

06 titan le crew cab - stereo just stops - no audio, no power, nothing. this has occurred twice in less than 3 months with complete head unit replacement by the dealership. dealer states they can not remove the cds from the changer and must wait for factory to do so - i have not had any cds returned to date. pending other options - persue small claims suit for reimbursement of cds, one more incident of same item will meet il lemon laws under for impact to material value of the vehicle... i like the truck and it functions well except for this more simplistic item and the difficulty in getting repair from a dealer that i did not purchase the vehicle and the number of failures of the same item. nissan usa has not been materially helpful, only to document but no action. 2nd tires 285/70/r17 - reported to michelin (for bf goodrich rugged trail - oem) tires - have less than 6/32s tread remaining with only 6k miles on tires - michelin will not replace or compensate until 2/32s, though they acknowledge a problem given original tread was 13/32s so more than half tread life is gone in 6k miles. *jb

The rear axle seals on the nissan titan years 2004-current have a severe and persistent problem with leaking. i have had my 2006 nissan titan in the shop once to replace the right rear axle seal at 18,000 miles and now at 20,000 miles it is leaking again. the location of the leak is what worries me. when the axle seal fails, it sprays gear oil on the brake components (rotors, calipers, pads) and i am worried that the pads will become contaminated and not work effectively when to stop my truck in case of a sudden stop. *nm

I purchased this vehicle on 5/29/06 from victory nissan of richmond. one week later property was stolen when a sunroof was installed. at the end of june, brakes failed and passenger air bag light started going on intermittently. also, driver seat is crooked. dealer said they bled the brakes and clutch(?). this is an automatic. also, there was nothing wrong with the passenger air bag (then why does light keep coming on and staying on?) and there is nothing wrong with the seat. last night (8/15/06) my brakes failed again. vehicle was towed to dealer this morning. i advise the service manager that these were life safety issues and should fall under the lemon law. i was advised the lemon law wasn't their problem and i would have to contact nissan usa for assistance. is it still not their concern when the faulty product they sold fails and causes loss of life??? *nm

On 22 june 2006, i noticed water coming between the headliner and rear window just right of the center electric window. water had been dripping onto the window ledge below the leak for sometime due to the concentration of water spots. the local dealer identified the location of the leak (with pictures) and had the window pulled and resealed by a local speedy auto glass. upon receipt of the vehicle, i was given instruction not to close the doors to hard and to wait at lest 48 hours before washing. approximately 72 hour after receipt of the vehicle i washed the vehicle and noticed water leaking from the same spot. *nm

After refueling the vehicle the fuel gauge failed to return to full immediately. when the vehicle was driven for more than 15 minutes the gauge would finally read full. when the vehicle sat for more than 2 hours the same condition occurred. after next refuel the problem seemed to be resolved until the vehicle sat for more than 2 hours. i contacted the local dealer for further assistance and was informed that there had been a service bulletin describing the problem. i was told the problem would go away after several days. it has been several weeks and several refuels and the problem has continued. *nm

Consumer's 2006 nissan titan pulls to the left/ right when driving. *ts the consumer noticed that the vehicle pulled to the right on the date of purchase. the vehicle was returned to the dealer. the consumer had to make an appointment to have the vehicle looked at. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer on april 12, 2006. an alignment was done on the vehicle and it was returned to the consumer. when the vehicle was returned it still pulled to the right. the consumer contacted the dealer and was told that the alignment was done to factory specs. the consumer made the dealer aware that the specifications were different for the 2005 and 2006 models. *nm

Drive train-rear end making a whining sound. complete rear end assembly was replaced in my 2006 titan with 2000 miles on it. new rear end started to make same noise at 500 miles. have not returned to dealer yet but plan to do so at later date. *jb

I have a 06 nissan titan se 4x4,and it seems the ball joints seem to be making a noise,almost like there loose . i checked the bolts and they were very tight so that might be a rare problem. but i know it could be dangerous if it came loose! what should i do. *nm

Incident occurred during normal use of a 2004 nissan titan. no suspension or drive line modifications. the differential failed when turning right onto a busy street. there was a loud bang then a grinding sound. the truck would not drive after that. every time i tried to accelerate the truck would just grind and not move. the truck was taken to royal moore auto center in hillsboro, or. where it was purchased. the service technician looked at the truck the next day and said the differential needed to be replaced. when he made the order he said nissan would not give him a delivery date for the part because it was back ordered. it's been a week and i still do not have an estimated date for part delivery or repair. *nm

I have a 2006 nissan titan king cab. it has goodyear wrangler tires sra 265 70 r18 on it. in the first two times i have had it in light rain on good highways it hydroplanes horribly at medium speeds{45 to 55 mph}. i have nearly lost control of this vehicle several times in light rain. the tires on this vehicle do nothing to channel away water in my opinion. i went into a slight curve in the rain and the vehicle just wanted to go straight. the match of this tire with this truck is going to kill someone. the tire option listed later in this complaint do not give goodyear wrangler as an option. so i had to put in something to proceed ,please note this. *nm

Well for replacement number two. started humming took it in and differential was full of metal shavings. *jb

Ok picked up truck from dealer and it started humming 3 days later. no one at dealer would believe it went bad that fast. had to drive it 2000 mi and bring it in when the hum was very bad for them to believe it. *jb

The vdc [vehicle dynamic control] kept shutting off. this is a safety feature to regulate motion and speed of the 4 wheels. the vdc would not turn back on with the vdc dash button. the dealer stated the rear differential bearings had failed and the titan was unsafe to drive. it's been at the dealer waiting for a new rear differential for 2 weeks. the truck was not delivered with the power folding - auto dim exterior mirrors; the xm radios did not work; bed extender not installed; gas tank wasn't full as promised. *jb

Rear end in my new (2500 miles) nissan titan was on its way out(humming). complained to dealer they said that the humm and metal shavings in the diff were normal. had to threaten to park truck in their showroom through the window to get them to even look at it. when they did they kept the truck for 5 days to replace rear end that was "normal"according to their tech. *nm

Rearend started humming at 2500 miles. took it in and had checked fluid looked like gray metallic paint and was low.technician said that was normal.took back week later and demanded fluid be at least changed when fluid was drained service manager decided to replace due to excessive metal in fluid. *ak

I found my truck has 3 recalls that need to be done. but my exhaust manifold is also cracked i have heard of this bing a known problem as well. it has been cracked and leaking for a while but i haven't been driving it to much seens it's been leaking.

Both exhaust manifolds are cracked requiring replacement. their failure emitted raw engine exhaust into the engine compartment potentially endangering the life/health of the vehicle occupants due to carbon dioxide exposure through cabin air inlets when the windows are down. at the very least, air pollution in violation of the epa occurred multiplied by the vast number of documented nissan exhaust manifold failures across the country.

Left rear leaf spring shackle fractured on a smooth road, causing the leaf spring to impact and deform the bed and degrading handling. *tr

Brakes - replaced 3 times within 16000 miles. would have been more or sooner if i had known how to identify the problem earlier. there are no specific events that lead to the these warranty replacements. i was reassured that my normal driving did not contribute to the problems. rear axle replacement - 15800 miles. this was also not due to my normal driving, as reassured by the nissan service station. i was literally shaken off the road. the truck had to be towed back to the service station, after they told me that the vibration i felt was probably due to some tire cupping when i had brought it in the day before. the automatic transmission was jerking and running at higher than normal rpm in idle and reverse. new transmission valve body replaced under warranty at 15800 miles also. all the brakes were replaced merely 1 week after my new transmission valve body and rear end were replaced. i had driven almost 600 miles. i am now driving a rental car, paying out of pocket because i am too scared to lose control of a car that might have a total brake failure causing harm to myself or other drivers/pedestrians. i originally bought this car new in march 2006; with 6 miles on it. *jb

"takata recall" rear axels and differental leaking after being replaced 3 times when first discovered in 2016. vehicle is very shakey and breaks are not responsive and oil smell is horrific
