On Tuesday, April 28, 2009, the driver and passenger side curtain airbags deplayed on our 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer without warning or cause. Within 2 hours our truck had been towed to the local Chevrolet dealer for inspection and repair. We gave permission for them to try and diagnose the issue, however, they called the next day and said they could find no defective parts or problems and the vehicle had no damage on it. They suggested we file a case with GM Product Allegation- which we did immediately. GM sent an investgator down to run diagnostics on the “black box” on May 7, 2009. On Tuesday, May 12, 2009, the GM Product Allegation representative called and stated that the truck had damage to the undercarriage and the vehicle sensed a “rollover situation” and responded accordingly. After researching online some, this seems to be the standard response to many cases of airbags deploying. We were on new flat pavement approaching a stop sign going 19 miles an hour. At this point, we were looking at a $3200 bill that our insurance company may consider mechanical and our extended warranty would not cover because there were no defective parts involved. On Saturday, May 16, 2009 I called the dealer and tried to give authorization to start repairs, however my rep wasn’t there and they stated she would call on Monday, May 18, 2009. On Tuesday, my rep from the dealer called and stated there was a problem and the body shop had left some items off the original estimate and that the new amount was $6,500. Of course I was very upset with this and stated we would not pay this. The dealership told us we should file it under our insurance. I called my insurance company, Allstate, and filed a claim and explained all of this to them. On thier advice, I then proceeded to move our truck from the dealer to a preferred shop so the repairs would be guaranteed 100%. When the new shop got the vehicle, they called Allstate and me and said we all needed to come see the condition of the vehicle. The GM dealer had completely dismantled the interior including the carpeting- unbeknownst to us- and piled all the parts on top of each other in the rear of the vehicle. As it sits now- not only is there no visible signs of damage to the undercarriage, our vehicle is a total loss. Because there is not any damage underneath, Allstate will most likely deny the claim and consider it mechanical. The warranty company will still be out because the dealer told them the damage was caused by undercarriage damage and they denied the claim, and we are stuck with a vehicle we are still paying for that no one can even tell us why it is damaged in the first place. We are Platinum Allstate customers, have another 5,000 miles on an extended warranty and GAP coverage should we need it and it looks like we will have to face a financial hardship to pay for this out of our pcoket. Please, any help would be appreciated. The body shop has now asked us to remove the truck from their shop by the end of the month. They have stated in writing they won’t fix the truck because they cannot guarantee it will ever be safe again. They said we should go back to GM and the dealership.

Exhaust manifold cracked due to design defect of Chevrolet (according to 3 different dealerships). Recall/Service Bulletin was issued on several model years but not on 2005 even though engine is the same design and has the same design defect. Calls to Chevrolet resulted in denial of issue even denial of issuance of service bulletin on other model years. Exhaust manifold generally don’t fail.

On freeway at 70 miles Instrument Cluster went out,Safety, replaced. On freeway Power steering, 2 times went out, replaced 2 times Safety. On freeway liftgate window revel molding came off Safety. On freeway Transmission went out, replaced Safety. Driverside lamp plug short/burning, replaced, Safety CD player will eat disk,not replaced, not Safety. Leaking transfer case requested fix, 5 times, found air plug not installed correct. Reported as SAFETY to GMC Case No. 71-904432989 and No. 71-1175666395. 05-07-2013 call from GMC “Iani ” GM will give ” NO ” assistance or Help, Case(s) will be closed.

fuel level sensor does not work

Hello, I went up to the Chevy dealer twice last, and they gave me the run around. They stated to me that Enterprise put a touch up paint on my car because my car was purchased from Enterprise. When I took my car to them about my car peeling paint and the safety of my family . because I new something was wrong for the paint to peeling all around the car. Then I stumbled up on the article that you placed in the paper of a situation in Lakeland, FL. of a couple of customers that had 2003 -2005 Chevy and Ford with peeling paint also. So I’m hoping you can help me. Thank you

Wind noise is so apparant and loud, Rogers Chevrolet in Woodhaven, Michigan said GM will not cover the wind noise. When you excel over 60 you cannot hear the radio. The rubber seal is coming off outside the windows, also had problems with the XM radio. Very disappointing.

From the drivers position, the view through the windshield has horizontal waves though it and a magnifying glass effect on the sides of the window. Compared to other models of identical package of trailblazer, the other vehicles views are fine. There is a defect in the glass that GM will not stand behind nor the dealer Dick Bigelow Chevy. The dealer offered to replace the window, but I would have to sign off on any recourse against GM or Dick Bigelow if there is a similar problem with the replacement window. Sounds like a corrupt pratice to me.

The issue is with the gas gauge that has suddenly stopped working. I had the dealer inspect the vehicle for $113, I was informed that I needed a new fuel level senso at a cost of $521+. I posponed repair to investigate further. An internet search showed hundreds of similar complaints.

2005 trail blazer pedal seemed to stick*cw the consumer stated the vehicle accelerated on its own. the fuel gauge sensor worked intermittently and there were times when the consumer didn't know how much gas was in the vehicle. the consumer was informed the fuel gauge sensor failed. *jb

2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the fuel gauge stopped working without warning. *dt the consumer stated it didn't matter how much fuel was in the gas tank, the gauge read empty and the amber warning light and alarm intermittently engaged, even when the fuel tank was full. there was no way to accurately confirm how much fuel was in the vehicle at any given time. while enroute to the dealer, the consumer ran out of gas. the consumer finally made it to the dealer and upon inspection, the consumer was informed the fuel sensor was defective and needed to be replaced which required the gas tank to be removed from the vehicle. *jb

2005 chevrolet trailblazer had problems with power steering. upon inspection mechanic determined the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. *kb the rack and pinion were replaced but the vehicle began making humming noises again. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who believed the problem was again with the power steering. the noise returned and this time the technician though it was the power steering pump. *nm

My vehicle was repurchased by gm recently. the dealership that handled the transaction was vandergiff chevrolet in arlington, tx. they did not respond to my calls. they ignored my request. they did not follow through on the paperwork required by gm, and they lied to gm and myself regarding filing the "warranty' with gm resulting in additional time that i had to wait in order to have the vehicle paid off to my loan institute and the remaining funds to me so that i could acquire another vehicle. *nm

I bought this car used in 2009. it had about 60000 miles on it. 1) the first problem i had with it was a burnout of the hac blower plug, that part of the wiring harness had to be cut out and replaced wth a completely new plug( both halves) and rewired in for a cost of 125.oo and 3 hours of labour. i looked this up on the internet very common problem 2) rider side door control panel stopped working with strong odor of burnt plastic. again looked up and found there was a recall, but only 2006 vehicles 3)brakes burn out of rotors only on rightside- left side rotors were fine, brake job with replacement of 2 left rotors i front piston amd all 8 pads 650.00. failure occurred while driving on city street 4) failure of ignition switch with erratic electrical function of running lights, radio and dashboard instrumentation. happened on the road early twilight very dangerous had to get a local toll for 75.00 all of these failures have made me very wary of driving this vehicle. they occurred at various times over last 4year some have been repaired as noted above. presently waiting for igniton system repair.

2005 has the same headlight malfunction as the 2006 headlight go out by themselves, thus causing a unsafe condition on the hwy. they should be on recall too. this has happened 4 times since i 1 owner had vehicle.

Fuel gauge was on 1/2 tank. i went to the gas station to fill it up and all of a sudden the gauge meter went to the left and read "empty" and the low fuel light came on even though i had a full tank of gas. i restarted the truck and the fuel gauge meter still read low (less than a 1/4 tank), it eventually returned the to the 1/2 gauge/meter mark. car was stationery at the gas station at time of the incident, then i eventually drove off at low speed.

The low fuel gauge indicator remains on even after i fill my fuel tank. the indicator never goes off at anytime.

Nov.2013 was the frist time we had a proplem, right after that the oil gauge was not working. on an off we have noticed other type of problem that seem to be electrical. for the last year \year an half my gas is all over the place, always stopping to get gas as not to give out. also, my gear and mileage gauge does not work. now have no idea when to change the oil or rotate tires

While driving the dim lights turn off by them selves. now they will not turn on at all. i have replaced relays and fuses. no help.

All of the gauges on the control panel do not function (speedometer, temp, gas) when the vehicle is turned on, the gauges may slightly move, but all are inaccurate.

When driving vehicle both left and right low beam headlights go out. the first time it happened was when i was driving long distance in the dark. had to drive with my high beams on for the rest of the trip. there is no specific time frame, but generally it happens anywhere from 10- 30 minutes of driving. i suspect it is heat related. i have changed the headlight relay #46, bit it only fixed the problem for a week. again the lights will go out after driving several minutes. i noticed there is a recall for a similar issue on the 2006 chevy trailblazer. could this be the same problem with my vehicle. there are also multiple forums explaining the same exact issue with early 2000 model trailblazers. this issue happened approx 6 months ago. last week we ran into another problem. our abs light comes on periodically. like the headlights going out, the abs light comes on after driving the vehicle for a certain amount of time anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. again, i feel it electrical components/wiring is overheating and causing these issues. i feel there should be a safety recall for this this issue as it is affecting hundreds of customers usa wide.

Gm ignition switch problems/recall. on 07/18/2014 i took my 2005 chevrolet trailblazer (32,262 mi.) in for service to fix/replace parts: faulty ignition switch. today, 06/02/2017, my trailblazer (35,193 mi.) is still having the same problem. a faulty ignition switch which is causing abs and parking brakes lights to come on and stay on, the blower for air/vent will not work and since these parts are all connected electrically, i once again have to replace the faulty ignition switch. i was never reimbursed for the first recall. please look into this matter. i would hate to get rid of a perfectly good vehicle, that has held up all of this time, i only have 35,200 miles on this 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. will the ignition switch keep failing on this vehicle? thank you.

While driving several times the head lights have went out or dimmed a lot.

When i accelerate from 45 to 60 miles per hour my whole truck vibrates and it feels like the engine is seizing but if i accelerate more or reduce my speed it goes away. i was researching online and found out i wasnt the only one in the country that has this problem. i was just thinking of everyone's safety including my own.

The driver's door master power window switch module got hot & started smoking. removing and looking at it showed that it caught on fire. it looks like it started somewhere on the circuit board. it seems identical to the problem listed on the 2006 chevy trailblazers. (nhtsa campaign number: 15v599000) it happened in 2015. i've just been holding onto the part because i didn't know what to do with it & the local dealer wasn't any help.

This vehicle has the same problem with the headlight relay. the headlights go out on dim occasionally. the lights will also stay on when the switch in shut off. they will also come back on after going off when the switch is off. there is an active recall for 2006 models with this issue but none for the 2005. this occurred while driving the vehicle.

Airbag did not work

Vehicle shuts off when sitting idle or when changing between the gas and brakes. i was hit in the rear this morning while sitting in traffic. thankfully neither vehicle was damaged. i googled this issue a d there are thousands of issues.

Since 2011 i've been having wrong reading of gas levels causing my vehicle to shutoff. plus my passager air bag displays on when no one is sitting in seat and when someone is sitting in passager seat it occasionally flicker on and off. however i have not had a incident just yet but i'm very concerned and don't feel safe driving with my kids in this vehicle.

As of 2011 (while driving on freeways in multiple occasions) i've been having electrical issues such as my fuel level gage would read full and vehicle would shut off cause no gas in tank, air bags sensor would show it on when no one is sitting in the passenger seat, and there are some electrical issues on driver seat controls not working, dash board gages not showing readings while vehicle is in motion (rmp, speedometer, oil, gas).

Fuel gauge sensor not working properly. when fueling up, the gas gauge falls to 0, after turning the vehicle on and the low fuel sensor light comes on and dings. after a few miles the gauge goes to 1/4 of a tank indicating there is gas, but not indicative of actually what is in the tank. i have tried to reset my tripometer every time i fuel up, and then stop at the gas station and refuel every 240 miles. however this past weekend i ran out of fuel and the vehicle came to a stop on a major highway. i know now that this is also unreliable and will make it a point to stop at every 200 miles.

The gauges don't work properly and when the gauges are tapped the trailblazer stalls. the vehicle was in motion on a highway.

I own a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer (bought new) with approximately 79,000 miles. the fuel gauge light is illuminated indicating i am low on fuel however my gas tank is full. i noticed the problem after filling my tank (no light on at the time). after filling the tank, the fuel light came on and the gas gauge bounced back and forth from quarter tank to half tank and now the light stays on with gauge showing empty. i would appreciate any help you can give or recommend any possible action to take.

Most recent, i am driving down the road my head lights go out. nothing else, just the main head lights. all.otjer lights stay on. high beams work, parking lights stay on. this is not safe!!!

Passenger low beam headlight has gone out several different times over the 5 years we've owned it. had a relay switched out that helped for a little bit. also had to change the wiring right by the headlight because it was burnt up. we took it to chevy in devils lake, nd. i seem to notice other trailblazers driving around with the same headlight burnt out. *tr

Frame has rusted though, just discovered during replacement of rack and pinion by garage.

The low beam headlamps fail simultaneously. this occurs while driving at night. i have replaced the hdm solid state relay twice, but after a time. 6 months to a year, the failure occurs again. once the hdm module became to hot to touch upon failing. this last time, the third, the lights may come on again after some time has passed. it is as if the module is short circuiting or overheating leading to a short circuit.

The headlights and gauges keep dimming while driving.they will flash.the headlights will go off completely and then come back on after a minute or so.it is very dangerous when the headlights go off while driving at night.i have seen several complaints of the same trouble.the 2006 models were recalled for this problem but the 2005 models were not.why when they have the same dangerous issues?this needs to be recalled and fixed before someone is killed by the lights going off causing a wreck.this problem has happened allot every since i purchased this trailblazer several years ago.

Occasionally headlights go out at night while driving. i see that 2006-07 were recalled but many others with a 2005 also complained of the same issue i'm having.

Fuel gauge drops to empty constantly, even where there is half a tank. only 5-10% of the time it shows how much fuel there really is. this happens while traveling and while stopped.

While driving down the interstate at night my dim lights went completely out and would not come back on. i had to drive the remainder of the way with my bright lights blinding cars in front of me and in coming. since the first incident this has continued to happen.

Checking for recalled airbag

I was driving on the highway going straight no turns in my 05 chevy trailblazer going about 60mph and all of a sudden i heard a low click sound and i was not able to accelerate or keep my current speed it was beyond unsafe so i pulled to the side of the highway engine running still i put it in every gear to see if it would move it did not i tried r,d,3,2&1 gears and the truck only rev’d up and did not move .it was no signs of the transmission going out or going bad it still shifted smooth it just went out all of a sudden on the highway which is very dangerous i feel like the transmission has to be cheaply made .

The gas gauge shows empty even after the tank is filled. other 2005 trailblazer models have had a recall on this issue regarding the gas gauge and sensor but my model did not. it also causes the check engine light to come on after putting fuel in the gas tank. the gas gauge shows empty at all times ( when your moving, and stationary). not accurately knowing how much gas is the vehicle can cause you to stall out while on city streets or on the highway driving 60 mph.

My gas gauge is sitting on bottom instead of top where it's supposed to be. i don't know how much gas in my car. an i have 2 small kids an one has a heart condition. an i'm on a fixed income. an also my head lights go off an on all the time day or night. *tr

No power steering!!

I was driving on the freeway and what around crave . the side airbags what off. i do not hit any thing or run over any thing

The vehicle has an idle issue and cuts off once you turn the ac on. i have spent a lot of money over time and i read i'm not the only one with that issue.

Lucky to be alive. on 4 14 2019 while driving 65mph on 101 freeway in thousand oaks california, a pickup truck veered into my lane. when i moved over to avoid the pickup both side airbags went off with a bang filling car with powdery cloud. my left ear popped from the loud bang but i was able to get off on the shoulder. called 911 and ca highway patrol came out and did a report. both officers had never seen anything like it. there was no impact to the car and the chp took multiple pictures of the exterior. milage on the car at time of accident was 117,873 . chp cutaway the airbags and my father came out and drove it home and then to auto shop to evaluate. seat belt also stopped working now that airbags deployed. really terrifying experience.

I have my bright lights,but i dont have my regular headlights,somtimes they come on then they go out,ive changed the module under the hood & it still does the same thing,it happens when im going down the road

Vehicle purchased 2008. it had 35,412 mi. in 2011 the vehicle would have a rough idle and stall in traffic. sometimes as many as 3 times on a six mile round trip. always would stall driving around town. i had replaced cam vrr temp sensor fuel throttle. all coils plugs water pump battery motor supports belt windshield washer bottle and motors flush fuel lines. wheel hubs and bearing rounds crankshaft and power steering pulley power steering pump oil changes 2500 to 3000 miles synthetic oil. all fluids changed and flush rear differential transmission shifter cable. several diagnostics at chevrolet. left there they drove it cut off once. finally, i kept watching gauges oil pressure dropped 44 to zero. car cut off rectangles it pulled over wait 30 mins. no oil on dip stick. called firestone took it there. oil sending unit defective. changed all oil. they found it. this was a big safety issue over several years for me. afraid get run over by truck. the vehicle has not cut off one time. i reported to chevrolet. put in bank there. please check oil sending unit. seen numerous trailblazers with this issue. on the web.

I am experiencing all issues identified with recall due to door switch sensor being defective. intermittent working of door locks not locking or locking and won't unlock . windows won't work sometimes, and sometimes they will . lights won't shut off in interior, or won't go on . delay feature where radio , and other features stay on after turning ignition off , and still in vehicle won't work , and sometimes do work . these things happen when vehicle is either moving, or not moving in park . they happen both city driving, and highway as well. all of these crazy electrical problems began several months ago, and when in the vehicle and i am in park, and shut off ignition, and the doors won't unlock, the key fob won't work to unlock doors either, and i am trapped inside vehicle until someone is close enough to hear me yelling for help, and can hand them my keys out of sunroof in order to put it into lock on the door and manually unlock the door. i absolutely must have this fixed because nobody near my residence to either let me out of vehicle, or to call . closest person i can call is over an hour away . i am on disability of 720.00 a month and can't afford this repair .

Both headlamps went out same night. high beams work. checked fuses all are fine. very dangerous as high beams are not meant to be used in this fashion. i see there are recalls on same model other years.

Daytime running lights will not work. low beam headlights will not turn on at night.

Leaving from work at night and when car initially was turned on, the low beams illuminated, but then went off. i had to drive home using fog lamps and high beams only. they never did come on in a 25 minute drive. i see that this is a common problem with this make and model, and it appears that the 2006 are in a recall for this, but not the 2005. very unsafe! my kids are supposed to drive this car, but now i'm not so sure!

When leaving work at night on 8/21/18, started the car and the low beams came on, and then immediately went off. they would not come back on. had to drive home using the fog lights and high beams. have only had this car for a week. doesn't seem safe. see that lots of trailblazers have this issue. looks like recall begins with the 2006 for this same issue.

Takata recall all the gauges on my trailblazer have stopped working except the gas and temperature gauge. while i was driving 2 weeks ago on the highway my gauges just quit working and the needles dropped to the bottom.

Control panel on drivers door is no longer functional, during a heavy rainstorm i got out of my truck, closed the door and ran to my house. the next day the controls no longer worked. this is not the first time i've left my vehicle while raining but the first time the controls stopped working. this was a recall item in other years 2006-2007. chery does not recognize this being the same issue in the 2005 model. chevrolet trailblazer recall - #13v248000. fluid may enter the driver's door module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. a short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. the short may also cause overheating, which could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke, or a fire.

Vehicle engine stalls while driving. the car shuts off without warning. this is dangerous and not safe! i shut off while driving on the highway and when i was able to get it off the highway, it stopped in the city. replaced the electrical body per the diagnosis and still experiencing this issue

While driving at night i have an intermittent problem where the headlamp low beams just go out. i have moved relays around but it doesn't correct the problem. i have been stopped by police several times because i am blinding other drivers because i have to drive with brights lit. i see they recalled the 2006 and later models for this problem. i work at a shop and we see , on average, 10 per year that are 2005 and that's just in our small community. if i set a half hour, sometimes an hour then the dims start working again. the most recent time was may 5th of 2018

Instrument panel cluster doesn’t work and i don’t even know my speed

Low beams go out while driving down the road. not every morning but 2 to 3 times a week this happens to me. it is dangerous but it doesn't really scare me anymore. it has happens while driving down the road, when i stop at the end of my road.

Speedometer first showed speed of 60 when sitting still. i turned off the engine, restarting it 3 times and the speedometer reset. but a few days later it once again stuck and i had just started it. this time at 48 at all times whether the engine is on or off, idling of traveling. it continues to be stuck at 48 at all times, never decreasing or increasing.

The speedometer isn't working. i've been hearing how common this issue is. every now and then it will jump to a random spot when i start the vehicle and stay there. but it never moves while driving

While driving low beam headlights go out. high beams will work. sometimes low beams will come back on during same trip. replaced hdm module per issues with 2006 but headlights still go out while driving.

In motion or parked my speed and my tac just stop at random numbers. i have to shut my car off if my speed is stuck. everytime i do this my speed drops 5 mph so if i'm stuck at 20 i have to do this 4 times just to get back to 0 mph i have called chevy . they told me it will cost me over $800 to fix this. kinda strange the recall doaent effect only the trailblazers don't you think. i have been in the automotive feiod for over 10 years now and i know alot of chevy have had this recall so it's time for you guys act.

It all started whaen i filled the tank of gas even when full the gauge went crazy never marked the real amout now all the panel is not functioning ans sometimes turns all light and stops working air windows etc.

Rpm, gas, and voltage meter are not reading properly at all. everywhere u go everytime u start the truck up it does not read properly.

Our vehicle died at a turn signal light in a dangerous intersection. no warning from the vehicle as it was running normal. it would turn over but no start. police force a tow out of the busy intersection right away. it starts up at the mechanics. they tested fuel filter and other stuff. we get on the highway in traffic and get 6 miles out and no warning we die and had to push the car to the shoulder on in dangerous conditions. sit for 2 hours and it fires up. so we found shade and waited for cool down. 2 hours away from home and it took us 9 hours to get home. we drove it to the store and when we were done shopping it fired up. went around the corner to other store and shopped 2 hours and came out and it would turn and no start. tried starting every 30 minutes to hour from 9:30pm to 1:40am and then it fired right up then drove 30 minutes to home. after researching and finding quite a few with same year make and model having the same issue we found that it is the pwr/trn relay plug in area in the fuse relay center. when we broke the plastic off the relay and wrapped a rubber band around it so it's constant contact and plug it in, it will fire up every time. i can drive it all day like that with no issues. i have to turn the key from running to accessory mode then remove the rubber band and then power off the car. don't want to fry com. the relays are good and problem is the fuse relay center. chevrolet said themselves that this model is notorious for fuse relay center problems and usually require replacement. it's a known defect. there are two pictures attached from one of the other people with same vehicle same problem and in order to make his fuse relay center work properly he had to wire/reroute his pwr/trn relay as seen in the picture. this needs to be investigated as this is a well known issue with chevrolet and the trailblazer.

The headlights go off after a while of use as if the over heat and go off once they cool off they come back on but they go off after about 15 mins of use. only the brights will work at this time. so not only is it a safety hazard to me that my lights just go off out of nowhere then i have to turn my brights on which is a safety hazard to other people and against the wall you have a recall on the 2006 model for the same problem why would you not have the recall on the 2005 model that obviously has the same issue they go off on back roads they go off on the highway they go off in the city they go off in the country they go off anywhere that i'm driving anytime that the headlights are on that will go off after about 15 minutes of use whether the car is being driven or it is stationary. this imhas been a problem with this car for many years but i just recently bought it for myself and i feel it's an issue that you all should resolve i have looked online and there a lot of people having the same issue

The headlights go out without any warning, i can't seem to turn them back on, i have to pull off to the side of the road, i tun the switch on and off and nothing happens, i've had the fussed and headlights changed and i can't seem to find a solution. the seem to just go on and off on their own. this if a very dangerous issue and i have found out i am not the only chevy owner that this is an issue with this model and i's surprised to find out there has not been a recall for this unsafe defect!

I have a 2005 tb ls, and it's a pos. as soon as i drove off the lot i've had nothing but issues. my brakes pulsate, go to the floor, get stiff as a board, basically they don't work. i have to pump the brakes quickly in an effort to avoid a crash. i filled the gas tank to full, huge mistake. the moment i did that the check engine light has flashed and sporadic idling. it has a loud whine under the hood, front turn signals and hazard flasher randomly stopped working. car will die if i run the a/c for more then 15 mins. it will pull to either side when i apply my brakes. i have always kept up with proper maintenance, tune up, etc. this is absolutely terrible, that so many have the same damn issues and yet chevy will not recognize/take responsibility for their obvious flaws and lack of mechanical knowledge..i just want out of this damn lease and a replacement car!!!

So i can't really drive at night as my dim lights just stop working. yes i have brights and i have been stopped twice and ticketed once for the issue of failure to dim. this is ridiculous as they are recalling all the newer models but not the 2005. i am frustrated because i have even moved relays around but nothings helps except to set on side of highway for a couple hours before they apparently col down? you tell me

I can't tell if my tank is full or empty

This vehicle has had constant braking issues. from continual rotor replacements to regular pad replacements. the brake pedal has never been constant with regard to pressure and has always been"soft" when coming to a stop. the last 25 feet or so there is a vibration, hum, and when finally stopped, the pedal sinks another 1/2 inch or so like it sighs of relief. this makes it difficult to judge appropriate braking distances and lacks confidence in emergency situations. we took it to grossman chevrolet where it was purchased in old saybrook ct. we were told theres nothing wrong and our driving style is to blame.that we were braking too hard and causing the rotors to warp. there is a fault in the abs sensor system and gm has done nothing to assist owners. it is a known issue. this must be recalled or repaired at gm expense. i will not pay a stealership any more money to fix an issue that is an engineering fault.

My headlights constantly shut off while driving at night and i have to use my high beams to see anything. looked online seems to be a known issue yet no recalls when entering my vin. thank you.

Since the purchase my tb engine will stop when ac and heater is on on stop light, that it was delaying while driving. it got worse after "warranty was out, i believe in july 2007.no one can find the cause, but thinking its all system faulty., engine, electronics, fans. could i afford a new car, i would not keep this car, as now i know it was the worse year making of all. now i only pray to stay alive while driving and not get into some beyond my control but faulty gm model makers

My gauges on the instrument panel has stopped working. first, about a year ago my tac and oil pressure gauges stopped working. then a few months later, the temp gauge. now, last week my gas gauge stopped.

My headlights keep going out while driving. i have replaced the bulbs and the relay switch. they will work for a while and then will go out again. sometimes they will come back on. i cannot drive my vehicle at night with no headlights. the bright lights will work once in a while. this has been an ongoing problem for a few years. i have not been able to get my lights back on and no one seems to know what the problem is. this is a big safety issue and i see that there are many others with the same complaint. gm needs to do something to fix this issue. the 2005 seems to big a big issue and a recall should be issued for the safety of all drivers and passengers. the date i selected below for when this happened is the most recent.

When you turn the heat or air on high the red wire on the blower motor resistor gets hot and melts and i have 2 little girls that ride in this vehicle. this isn't normal

I was driving in the dark and my automatic headlights turned off. i pulled over and was able to get them back on. i got on the interstate in heavy traffic. i was driving in the middle lane with two tractor trailors to my right and traffic to my left. suddenly it went dark. it was very scary. i got around the trucks and pulled into the emergency lane. before i came to a complete stop they turned on and stayed on. i haven't driven in the dark a long distance until the other night. my headlights may have been turning off and on in the daylight without my knowledge. i checked and there wasn't any open recalls. although the 2006 chevrolet trail blazer has a recall for the same problem. headlights turning off while driving.

The fuel level sensor is a very common problem. the tank is filled full but it will always read empty. i already have a refurbished cluster so it will not be the cluster's fault. gm needs to recall the fuel level sensor to be fixed to avoid accidents on the road.

The speedometer will not work properly. it will be stuck and then it will not display the correct speed while driving. this has been a problem with this car for 2 years. also the fan control switch stops working at the same rate. some days it works and some days it won't.

The anti-lock brake system in my 2005 chevy trailblazer ls at times does not work. when i apply my brake the brake makes a noise sounding like grinding, not catching or holding, slips and goes to the floor. i have to rapidly act with swiftness within a short time to reapply my brakes in hopes they work. the brakes sometimes fail on bumpy roads, going over railroad tracks, coming to a stop at low speed, even on smooth roadways, at times entering on-ramps, and turning corners. i have been going over gm's expanded recalls to fix the problem with truck and suv's brakes the date i saw was 12/23/2005. can i get help with this problem???

My daytime running lights low beams come on and off, i replaced the driver control module relay, the bulbs, fuses under the hood, and the multifunction switch. my light's still come on and off. i don't know what to do now about this matter. please help me. it happens on stationary, in motion on city and highway street at random. i have nothing to upload the work has been done by me. this has been going on for just about 3 months now, i can't drive at night.

The speedometer has become unreliable; it sticks / jerks while driving after which it does not display an accurate speed. i’ve had my speedometer read 30mph while completely stopped. it has a greater tendency to stick around 50-60mph. repeatedly starting the engine, causing the speedometer to go through its reset cycle will move the needle back to 0mph in approximately 5mph increments for every start. this only provides a bit of reliability for short trips.

Car will not accelerate. revs up really high without acceleration.

I went to the gas station and filled up my tank. i started my car and the gauge was not at the fill line. the gauge just bounced up and down and then went below the empty mark making the chime go off and the car red "fuel is low". this was on a secondary city street.

My gas gauge reads empty all the time even after a fill up. it never moves. also i have replaced shocks and struts all the way around the vehical but every time you hit a bump in the road it shakes you from side to side really hard.

I purchased this truck brand new off the lot in may 2005. a few years after purchase the gas gauge stopped working, i attempted to search the web for recalls and there weren't any. eventually it started working again on its own. so i didnt think anything else about it. around 2009, or maybe later, it happened again. i then found out there was a way to get it replaced for free but it had stipulations. less than 10 years old and under 100k miles. well at the time it was 108k-115k miles and i was denied. i must admit i love my vehicle but to this day i have been fighting to get the pump replaced without having to pay for it as it was the companies fault. i calculate my miles based off the "trip" indicator on the dash. i know it seems silly, i mean it would be much easier to just invest, i'm a bit stubborn. so instead, when the thousands of people i know mention buying a car i just tell them dont buy a chevy, even if they have amazing cars. truth be told not one family member has a chevy because of my incident and any new family members well they aren't allowed to have chevy either. thanks for listening, i'm sure it wont matter, either way but these blogs and complaint forums make me feel better. (my car was in motion when it stopped working, travelling from one state to another, on a major highway)

First my rear wiper and rear washer stopped working but when you turn the button it sounds like it wants to go. second my speedometer is all over the board. sometimes it runs low, sometimes it's higher and at times it just won't move. it has also been off the board pointer down at the prnd321. third my oil gauge stopped working.

Fuel gauge is not working properly. i checked with dealer and the nhtsa website about this issue. the problem is that gm will not honor the service bulletin. according to gm i was mailed out a service notice on my vehicle in 2011 which i never received. # 10041526 . i checked with the gmc dealer about this service bulletin and the they told me to bring my vehicle in for repairs. well the dealer called and told me that my vehicle was out of the parameters for a cost free repair. i bought this vehicle brand new back and 2005 and i have kept up with the repairs and maintenance. the dealership i have this serviced at over the years never did any repairs on this service bulletin. i am a oif army veteran and i can not currently afford this $900 repair. i told customer service at chevy about this and all they offered was a chevy loyalty car. really your kidding me?

The gauge cluster, speakers and occasionally lights stop working at various times, the gauges either register completely maxed out, minimum or somewhere obviously wrong. example fuel gauge way past full, oil pressure gauge reading 0, charge gauge maxed out tachometer completely off the scale and speedometer inoperable. rear speakers work sometimes and bulbs in brake lights and tail lights keep blowing out. the gauges are of most concern as the true values of fuel level, oil pressure, battery voltage and engine temp are rarely accurate (or even close). the speed will not operate at times and occasionally if the vehicle is restarted the speedometer will correct itself. all these conditions create safety concerns on some level from running out of gas in a less than desirable location, driving at incorrect speeds, overheating engine without warning or engine problems. losing a tail light not only creates a safety concern for traffic but creates issues with law enforcement as well. these conditions can happen at any time, driving, parked or idling but the key must be on to power the accessories. type of driving (city, highway, etc,) makes no difference.

While driving at night, low beam headlamps go out completely. high beams still work and are the only option for getting home. has happened multiple times. the first time it happened we were traveling away from home. we were on the highway and realized that we had no headlights. very dangerous situation and from looking online - this seems to be a very common problem without a solution. shop can't help unless they are doing it at the time.

Fuel gage is not showing the fuel level , so it looks like its empty all the time automatic air bag passenger sensing system is malfunctioning and on windshield urethane bead may not have adhered to the body in certain areas during the cure process.

I have lots of issues with my trailblazer. just today my a/c quit blowing. i've had enough so decided to research online. glad i did because it seems that there really is a problem with these vehicles. first off i my gauges(all of them, including fuel gauge) started to act up. sometimes they worked and other times they were way off or just hanging. the fuel gauge and speedometer no longer work at all. this all started years ago. i have just lived with it as i don't have the money to fix them. my headlights started going on and off at random about two years ago. also something i have just lived with as i don't do too much night time driving. now that my a/c is not blowing i will have to do something. i live in florida, and am not going to allow my daughter and i to sweat everyday back and forth from work and school to home. this sucks!!! they really needs to recall the whole electrical system for these vehicles. this is a fire hazard due to the connections getting so hot they burn up.

Low beam lighting was out when the vehicle was turned on at 2030. it did not come on while driving (20 minutes) so i had to use the high beams. i did check multiple times while driving.

I was leaving a parking lot at dark and my low beam headlights were working. after exiting the parking lot to the road, i note that the low beams were out. i then had to drive through town on the busiest roads with my high beams on. it was approximately 2100 and the temperature was in the 70's.

While driving southbound on i-75 in michigan at approximately 9:10 pm on august 16, 2015, the low beam head lights went out near mile marker 180. the high beam lights and running lights continued to work. the low beam lights remained off until after i exited i-75 at the southbound 155 exit. after leaving the exit and driving an additional 4 miles, i again tried the low beams and they worked. i later got back into the vehicle (after it was off for approximately 30 minutes) and the low beam lights were again off. they would not come back on and i left the vehicle. the following morning, the low beam lights were functioning again. this situation has been reported to the executive customer service office at gm and they have stated that there is not a current recall and therefore they will not repair it.

The low beam headlight on my 2005 chevrolet trailblazer turn off while i am driving down the road with no notice. the first time this occurred was on lawndale/7 mile road in saginaw county michigan in june 2014. the incident has happened several times since, most recently on 8/8/15 on greenwood road in alger mi. the low beam lights go out for no reason and cannot be turned back on. the high beam lights will work. the low beam lights will later turn on on their own. it generally takes several minutes before this happens. several times this has occurred on dark, county roads which increase the danger to the occupants of my vehicle and other passengers on the road. i have contacted gm and their executive office and was informed that while the issue is a recall for the 2006 model year, because my vehicle was built in june 2005 it is not covered.

The dim headlights will start flashing for no apparant reason.

Lights go out/dim while driving. no additional electrical items in use-heater, ac, gps, radio, cigarette lighter. does not appear to be affected or caused by speed, acceleration, deceleration. fule tank will sometimes register empty while mostly full. do not notice problem during daylight driving.

I noticed my battery guage quit. then after starting my truck a few different times, the gas guage read differently. then my speedometer wduld stick on 100 when i was doing approximatly 60. then the speedometer would not work at all. there needs to be a recall on it. my friend has a 2005 also and her cluster pannel went out too. its a 400.00 repair. this has happened to quite a few 2005 chevrolet trailblazers from what ive read online. come on general motors. you need to recall these models.

The speedometer gets stuck on a speed and the only way to get it back down to 0 is by turning the engine on and off several times. this has happened to me several times in the last few months. from my research on this it appears this is happening to many many people but nothing gets done about it. it seems to me like it should be a recall to get it fixed.

This vehicle was knowingly sold with an existing failure to a warrantied part. the dealership failed to notify us, the prospective buyer about the failed part and has attempted to offer "hush money" to make their responsibility go away. the secondary air injection pump is known to be bad on the vehicle and the dealership refuses to repair it and just as stated offer hush money to make this problem go away. this type of behavior needs to stop and dealerships held responsible for their actions. a document with the information about the problem can be provided if needed to further investigation.

The rear spoiler looked like someone had tried to remove it with a screwdriver. eventually it came to the point that it would "flap" in the wind when driving. when driving, it came disconnected from the vehicle while driving on interstate 5. had it not been for the electrical cord, it could have hit another vehicle on the freeway. i took it to a repair shop. the shop fixes it, but it began doing the same thing within a year. i took it to the repair shop again. again, the fix failed. i took it a third time and it has just failed again, i will take it to another repair shop and possibly a dealer shop to look at it. i am reading that this is a problem with 2005 trail blazers. i have paid for a repair once and find it difficult to have to pay for the same problem again that is no fault of mine or repeated tampering.

The airbags will show that they're not enabled even with a passenger sitting in the seat.then it would come on as being on but no passenger in seat. a lot of sensors have popped up in the electrical panel, on top of that the car kinda shut down on me and started going 10 miles per hour, as i was going out in traffic.

2005 chevy trailblazer was driven by my granddaughter. she was trying to enter onto i-10 interstate and was going too fast on the entrance ramp. road conditions were hazardous as it was a severe rain storm. she hydroplaned and hit a vehicle in front of her which caused her to spin into oncoming traffic. she was hit on the driver's side and the truck spun around several times before it stoppped. the airbag did not deploy!!! the police officer and the tow company driver said she was lucky to be alive. my concern is this could have been a fatal accident and the airbag failed to deploy. the trailblazer was totaled as the axle and the engine were on the ground. the driver's side front wheel came off. i have always like chevy vehicles but am now hesitant to purchase another one b/c of this issue with the air bag.

My low beam headlights stopped working completely now. they have gone out intermittently before, but they would not come on at all on thursday, april 9th, 2015, and have not come on since then. *tr

(if i go over 40 mpg can't tell what my speed is) was working correctly for a couple of days now nothing. i checked for recalls and there are recalls for 2006-20xx (nhtsa 14v755000 ) just wondering, after finding on the internet, numerous 2005 owners with same problem, why this model wasn't included in the recalls? i would like to file a complaint on the potentially deadly problem of the 2005 chevy trailblazer that should be corrected and included in this recall. thank you *tr

Odometer works then just stops going down the road and airbag light stays on now also if i plug in my cell charger the radio shuts off did not do this until issues with odometer. *tr

While traveling about 15mph through a boat yard with my heater on high (5) i smelled a hot metallic odor, but thought it was just from some welding be done on a steel boat. then my heater quit. i turned it down to 3 or 4 and it ran a little longer and quit completely. when i got home i checked on a trailblazer website to find information and found that the blower resistor speed control unit was a common cause of this type failure. upon removing this resistor pack i found the plastic plug connection on it had gotten so hot that it melted and fused the plug in the socket. when i did finally get it apart i found that one of the connector pins had burned completely off. insulation on three or four wires had also been burned. luckily there had been no major fire. *tr

The engine light constantly comes on even after i had a tune up. i had diagnostics done and there is some type of fuel misfire. two winters straight i have had issues with the power steering lines bursting and replaced 3 times. the speedometer malfunctions, most of the time it just stays at zero. if gm uses a lot of the same parts to make multiple models why has the 2005 trailblazer not been recalled? i was told the gm envoy has the same engine and other inner workings as my trailblazer so why wouldn't their recalls apply to my vehicle especially if i may be having the same issues. *tr

Drove to an appointment, when came out vehicle would not start. called for tow. after approx. 30 mins. and before tow arrived, vehicle started. was able to drive home and made appointment for service. next day while driving to shop for service engine died while vehicle was moving. managed to get off road and vehicle would not start. after a while it started and was able to get it to shop. ignition switch replaced. second incident occurred 6/1/2014. had to have towed to shop. a second ignition switch replacement. contacted chevrolet to inquire why 2005 trailblazer not included in ignition switch recalls and seek possible reimbursement of service costs for recurring problem and was told to contact nhtsa and report. *tr

The speedometer in my car started not working a week ago.. it would say i was going 70 and in reality i was only going 55. now it starts out at 110mph when i start driving....making it really difficult to know how fast/slow i am going. i have read many articles of this happening with this make and model of vehicle. *tr

Multiple times while driving the headlights will malfunction and turn on and off, at random driving speeds under many different conditions. i continued to drive the trailblazer even after this occurred. just not as often. if the heater was on while driving and the headlights would short the heater would stop and then turn back on. the fan turns on at random, first it turns on when driving at random times. the fan will turn on at random times with a higher speed and sound. i have had the inspection completed multiple times with a mechanic re-assuring the issue although it has been happening frequently. the check engine light is on all the time due to computer error and is a $500.00 fix. this has all happened and been reported within the first year i bought the vehicle from kendal motors in lewiston idaho. i find that the amount of work to fix this vehicle is overwhelming and to see that this vehicle was under 100.000 miles is financially distressing. i have already had the fuel pump portion removed and fixed twice, i had to purchase a locking cap. the stereo repeatedly jams with new cd's even. *tr

Low beam headlights have flashed on multiple occasions in the past. on the night of october 2, 2014, while driving home with my entire family in the car, the low beam headlights went out completely. i turned on my fog lamps to get home. i checked all fuses and relays and there were no problems. i also took it to a mechanic, who secured a loose ground wire. this did not help. then i heard that gm was doing a recall for this exact problem, but it is for models 2006-2007, and mine is a 2005. they will not honor the recall on my vehicle. i am afraid to take my vehicle anywhere at night or in the rain. i do not feel i should have to pay for the repair when they know it is an issue. *tr

While putting the truck into 4x4 hi, lo, or all wheel drive, the transfer case never does fully put it into 4x4. while driving, the dim lights turn completely off. the brights work, but the dims do not. these will not turn back on until the truck is shut off or a proper bump is hit. the heater blower in the front sometimes will nit come on. the back will be blowing, not the front. also if a bump is hit improperly, the back speakers will start buzzing. *tr

When the steering is turned too far the car automatically and very suddenly shuts off, no matter where we are. seatbelts in the last row of the vehicle don't lock so, our car seats just slide due to never ending seat belt. engine and oil light come on when car is started and will stay on for days as result of gas cap being not screwed on properly. delayed turning reaction with steering wheel, horn got stuck and would not stop sounding so it had to be disabled. *tr

Multiple times my trailblazer has stalled without warning. it tends to happen when i am in a stopped position. whether it is at a stop light or just stopping in general. it takes a minute and then restarts. *js it has also multiple times lost head lights. the last time was at 9pm while driving home with my children in the car. my headlights went out i had to pull over and the only way my lights would work was if i held my high beams on.

The speedometer no longer works. as the weather gets colder, the needle will get stuck in the 90-100 range and not reset when the car is turned off.i am the original owner of the car and this started happening about a couple of years ago as the winter approaches. in the summer the speedometer seems to work fine. years ago the needle on the oil gauge stopped working. it was going to cost over $700.00 to replace the instrument panel so decided against that since i change the oil regularly. the speedometer is a necessity and the occurring defect seems like a very common problem on this model. why isn't this being addressed? *tr

We were driving on interstate 94 in north dakota and we heard a pop. by the time we pulled over there were flames up to the window on the drivers door. we quickly got out. vehicle is a total loss. this should not happen. date of accident was 10/31/2014. *tr

The roads where slightly wet and i hit a guardrail on a mountain road going approx 30mph - 35mph. destroying the front passenger bumper, turn signal light, tire, axle, suspension, pretty much everything on the passenger side and the guardrail of course. the air bags never deployed! police report was taken, no fault or major injuries, the truck could not be driven and again the air bags did not deploy! just makes me think (if i had went through the guardrail and down the mountain into a tree) would the air bags ever work and save my life? please recall this issue!! *tr

Pulled up to a red light and stopped. shortly after, coming to a complete stop, the engine just shut down. no warning lights had come on prior to the engine shutting down. just lost all power instantly. i turned the key, as you would to start the vehicle, and it started right up. very glad it did not happen while i was on the expressway or while moving. i can't help but wonder if it is an ignition problem, as that which plagues other gm products. also, i have the radio on while driving and on multiple occasions, after turning off the car and opening the door to get out, the radio refuses to stop playing (it is supposed to, and it used to, cease operating when you open the driver's door). i am forced to open the back vehicle door to get it to stop. i wonder if this is a related issue to the ignition, as the ignition key may not actually be shutting of the accessories. *tr

I purchased my suv in august of 2008 about a month later after pumping gas i noticed the fuel gauge spinning uncontrollably. due to the warranty i purchase carmax fixed the problem at that time not it is 5 years later and exact same things has happened as well as all the other gauges spinning. shortly, after the fuel gauge went out i notice the speedometer and the accelerator gauges doing the same thing. i have had my suv for 5 years and has constantly complained about the gauges spinning back and forth. *tr

I bought this car at the end of march of this year with under 100,000 miles. the first thing to go was the gas gauge, about 2 months after i bought the trail blazer the needle went south. it actually hovers around 6 0 ' clock. then a couple nights ago driving home i had the cruise control on, i took it with the hand button and looked down and the needle never moved, it was stuck at 65. it's been 3 days and the needle has moved but the wrong way, to the right going up 75, 80, 90, then back down to 65 and staying there. i have looked into replacing the gas gauge and i was told the entire dash would have to be done at a price of 1200.00, i should not have to do this, chevrolet should be held responsible.

The windows would roll up by themselves, one of my dogs almost got his head stuck in the back window, also seat heater would come on and switch from high to med. to low, then back to high. i had it repaired, cost was $413.00 i'm hearing the same trouble has been reported with the 2006 - 2007 models and some have caught fire. is the new part going to do the same? can i recover any of the cost?

As i was driving on florence blvd my speedometer quit working and the oil gauge wasnt registering but the others were working ok. now all of them do not work except every once in awhile one or two of them might start working for awhile then they will stop working. with all the other complaints it seems to me that this is a manufacturer defect and chevrolet should be made to fix it at their expense. they let faulty products go thru qc now they need to fix the problem. thank you. *tr

The check engine light comes on&off a lot right after fueling, i took it to the gmc dealership&had the camshaft replaced because it kept cutting off every time i turned a curve.i tried to show or tell them about this gmc recall letter i got on my 2005 chevrolet trailblazer, but they said that it didn't apply because of the mileage&i told them the car is not 10yrs old& the paper is saying 10yrs/120,00 miles& for me to take it to the dealership so that the manger can send my bill & receipt in for reimbursement they wouldn't do it.i guess because i'm a woman.driving to work on the interstate the car shut completely off. the car was still moving when all of a sudden all the lights and gauge's lit up and the car cut off. it did not lock up so i was able to steer it from the middle lane of a three lane interstate highway to the grass on the side without getting killed or hurting someone else.i had just filled it up with gas with a quarter of a tank from the full line. once i got the car to a complete stop and thanking god that this was not tragic,i put the car in park and waited a few minutes before starting it back up. it started back up as if nothing had happened. i took it to auto zone to get a free diagnostic check&it showed that nothing was wrong. a few weeks later after i would cut the car off the air conditioning would not stop&the engine light constantly comes on every other time i hit the brakes. i had to keep taking out fuse #35 to get it to stop even after the car was cut off just so the battery won't run down. took it to the dealership and was charged an arm&leg to get it fixed. i showed them the recall letter again and they said it was too late for them or myself to do anything about it. i have all of my receipts & the letter from gmc about the recalls.im sure my vehicle fits in there somewhere with these problems& truly would like 4 them 2 give my free car. *tr

The fuel gauge malfunctions after filling tank - it reads empty immediately and intermittently thereafter at any fuel level. it makes it difficult for traveling any long distance as you are not quite sure how much fuel is available or if it will shut down on me during a difficult situation. we have contacted gm and they want to charge me to check it and this has been reported as a problem for multiple models to gm. this is very scary as i travel long distances to and from work each day - i feel that this puts me in harms way. i don't believe that i should pay to a defective part that gm knows about but doesn't acknowledge. *tr

Myself and my daughter was visiting my parents in virginia and i turned the steering wheel to the right to go around a curve and the steering wheel didn't turn. i looked ay my daughter and said "oh _ _ _ _" and she ask me what 's wrong? i said the steering didn't turn and it wasn't but seconds later, we slammed into the side of the mountain on the driver side and we rolled two or three times and ended up on the roof. i immediately went unconscious because of the impact. i had a big gash on my head and was bleeding profusely and i was having trouble breathing because both of my lungs were punctured. all the windows burst out so my daughter was able to crawl out the passenger window to ask someone for help but my seat belt would not unbuckle so there was an issue getting me out. i was very lucky that someone that stopped had a pocket knife and cut the seatbelt to get me out. i had a bad concussion and i kept going in and out . i had three broken ribs, three pelvic fractures, a bad contusion on my elbow and i still have a swollen knot about two and a half inches on my left leg. i also have issues with my back and i am in constant pain and on impact, my seat belt jerked and caught my breast and i now have five cyst with the largest one being one inch and they are very painful. i have to watch it very closely because of a cancer risk called inflammation cancer. i was hospitalized for three days and i have to continue receiving medical care because of these injuries. my daughter is young and now she has back problems and ptsd and she also continues to receive medical care . this has really impacted and changed my life and my daughters life and i would really appreciate it if you would take the time to investigate these issues. we are going to have life long injuries and issues because of this accident. thank you very much. *tr

Possible fatal fire accident. the passenger outside running light 9006 socket found to have burned completly off of the light 9006. this is the 2nd time this vehicle socket has been found to be defective, on 03/15/2012 the driver side socket was burned and was replaced. no help from general moters. see vehicle safety complaints filed with general motors and nhtsa number 10592126. a number of my vehicle defects could have lead to a fatal accident. updated 4/24/2015 *js

The date, mileage and mph were either estimated or just ut in since options did not include "unknown". when driving at night headlights sometimes turns off. only the lowbeams turn off, but when driving with high beams it is dangerous but necessary (especially when on the highways). i called gm and they pretty much claimed that no one had ever complained about it. but i did research and it happens a lot. *tr

The wiring connecting the blower motor to the resistor under the glove box has melted the connection between the two resulting in smoke and toxic fumes from burning wires while vehicle was in operation with a/c operating on high. shutting the vehicle off stopped any further damage, i have googled this issue and appears as though its a known problem without gm acknowledging the issue and doing any thing to remedy the issue, according to complaints filed with carcomplaints.com. *tr

I am the owner of a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer with 32,000 miles. i purchased the truck new from the dealer. over the few years that i have owned the vehicle, i have been faced with a multitude of issues. my first problem became the ac lines. they began to leak due to rust, which was not covered under the 7 year, 70,000 mile warranty. next the exhaust manifold began to leak. the cost was covered under the warranty; however, the dealer managed to break the bolts that hold the manifold to the engine. the breakage was not covered, and therefore, i had to pay. following these two issues, i noticed rust all over the undercarriage. in the past three years, after my warranty expired, i had to fix the following items due to the rust: the power steering coil, rear end, transmission, fuel pump, power steering lines, power steering pump, rack and pinion, front wheel bearings, and a fuel gage recall from gm. in addition, i avoid using low 4-wheel drive, because the vehicle gets stuck in that gearing. *tr

Leaving parking lot (& wanting to turn onto road) i applied my 2005 trailblazer ext brakes. my foot & pedal went to floor with no brake at all. thankfully no cars & going slow enough or i would have hit them. instead of stopping at end of parking lot, i found myself entering road & seeing trees on other side of road coming up quickly. i grabbed the emergency brake lever. scared me to death!!! vehicle then taken to repair shop. shop owner report = hole rubbed in brake line close to driver firewall separating engine from seat area. he further said "been in business for 30+ years and had never seen this before. seems like a huge design flaw." rubbing on another line & pinhole there now - which would explain why my a/c was not working on driver side, but working on the pass side. how many other people had an accident? have another (?)... if gm has known about a problem for yrs on several models: very well documented on internet by hundreds (if not thousands of owners) - why won't nhtsa make gm do something? problem = speed gauge, oil pressure gauge, & radio all of a sudden stop working one day. then some days they all work, some days only 1 work, some days 2 work??? an equipment malfunction or computer glitch? happened about 75k miles on both my auto & my dad's 2005 chevy pickup. i live in se, he lives in ne. two areas of us; yet each dealership wanted about $600.00 to fix it. called gm: no help available!! searched internet for repair fix, & noticed tons of unhappy owners w/ same problem: gm would not help them pay for this problem - even though it's their equipment problem. clearly it is a safety issue: no one can tell how fast actually going & led to many accidents & speeding tickets i'm sure! time nhtsa steps in don't you think? then have the brake/ac line rubbing issue - clearly a safety issue & i hope you do something! i still have the brake line. *tr

After filling up with gas and restarting the engine i heard a "ding" followed by gas empty light indicator. the suv will now not move off of "e" and the empty light indicator will not go off either. *tr

Driver's side passenger door left rear door latch on 2002 chevrolet trailblazer ls is stuck. the door will not shut! i have read another complaint for the very same reason and a very similar situation to the ext and there is a recall on the ext but doesn't pertain to the ls. i can't shut my door because the latch won't connect.i opened the door and could not shut it after that because it wouldn't latch. we have looked everywhere and have not been able to locate the part at a reasonable price. i was in the process of selling it, but because of this faulty defect we cannot sell it. we have not been able to get it fixed. no one seems to have the part and we contacted dealerships and they looked up recalls but couldn't help us cause our vin number isn't covered. what do we do now?? *tr

Sir/ ma'am, i noticed recently in the news that several gm product lines have been plagued by faulty ignition switches causing the vehicle to lose power and/or cut out. i implore you to look into the trailblazers. i emailed gm while i was deployed (2012) and they gave me the runaround saying that it is not a documented problem, as expected. a simple internet search would show that a lot of other trailblazer owners have bad ignition switches/ electrical issues that cause the vehicle to lose power at all speeds. my wife lost power going about 35 mph and i had my two children along with her. this is just one example, on one occasion. granted, i do acknowledge this problem is intermittent, it still occurs at random and at all speeds. gm tells me to go to a dealer and have them look at it. i refuse to pay gm any money to have a dealership rip me off for an ignition switch that is flawed and replace it with the same faulty oem style/model number. i have ran a scan tool looking for codes and it doesn't have any. like stated previously, this is another line of gm that is plagued with ignition and electrical issues that gm refuses to take ownership of. the mileage i have entered is approximate. i cannot remember exact numbers, but it has happened for years, intermittently. when the vehicle has coasted to it's final destination after losing power, it starts up and drives normal again after it is put back into park. also keep in mind that it doesn't show any check engine lights, indicating a problem or need of servicing. again, please look into this product line as i know the result(s) will show that gm is liable and i don't want any fatalities because nobody spoke up about it. *tr

The heater levels started to go out. first 5, then 1 until it no longer worked at all. i got it repaired but the 5th level does not work any more. the left half of the radio/cd player no longer lights up. my gas gauge would only register a quarter tank and then would eventually dropped to empty. it no longer works at all. most recently my speedometer will occasionally quit working or register the wrong speed. i have to shut the car off and restart until it works again. also, my tachometer goes way up when i begin driving and the car seems to rev way up before it changes gears and jerks into gear. i questioned a mechanic about this, thinking it was the transmission, which it isn't. there doesn't seem to be enough power. i have constantly had issues with this trailblazer every since i purchased it. i also owned a blazer at one time and also had a lot of trouble with it. i should have known better to purchase another chevy, but never again! *tr

My fuel gauge reads empty after i fill the tank with fuel. after driving some duration of time the tank will only read a quarter of a tank full. i find this to be a hazard because i travel for long distance trips and you are unable to get an accurate reading of the amount of fuel that is in your tank. i have read this to be an issue on multiple different websites with the same make and model and i believe that gmc should offer to pay full price and fix the issue because it appears to be a defect. *js

Tachometer and speedometer began acting erratically. speedometer now acting properly but tach has never functioned correctly since. researching online i have discovered that there are literally thousands of these instrument cluster units that are failing and eventually additional instruments within the cluster are likely to break. in fact, a class action suit forced general motors to recall/replace the instrument clusters on silverado pickups for similar problems. when i contacted gm about working with me to replace the failing cluster and they told me there were no recalls and to basically "pound sand." with so many documented instances of failure and gm's now documented history of avoid recalls even at the cost of human life i believe it is time for the nhtsa to step up and bring pressure on gm to resolve this issue affecting thousands of owners who have been rebuffed in their efforts to have the automaker accept its proper responsibility for using inadequate or faulty materials. *tr

While sitting at a stop light, the fuel gauge stopped working. the gauge went all the way down to "e" and the low fuel level indicator appeared on the display. now when i fill up the tank, the gauge reads empty and after i drive about 20-30 miles it will move up to about 1/4 tank but no higher and sometimes it will still move back to empty that slowly move back up. also sometimes the oil pressure indicator will drop all the way down while idling or in park and the low pressure indicator will appear, but as soon as the gas is pressed, the pressure will go back to normal. also, about 1 1/2 years ago, the keyless entry/alarm/back liftgate lock and license plate light all stopped working simultaneously. i was told that it is probably a grounding wire issue but not definitive. now my liftgate will not lock at all. *tr

Since i got the vehicle approx 5 years ago i began having issues about a year later. it started with my speed odometer gauge stopped working then over that following year eventually all the gauges stopped functioning. little did i know that this was the beginning of my issues with the vehicle. my break lights will work off and on, my driver side windows works off and on, my blower stops working when ever it feels, a diagnostic test showed my throttle on has pedal never closes so i average 9 miles per gallon in gas mileage, the interior lights decide when to work and not, and the locks on their on causing me to get locked out of my car at times. this to me is clearly a electrical issue and have spoke to gm because i can't even trade the vehicle in to get a safer vehicle because no one wants it. either way i worry of the safety for anyone in this vehicles and they need to be taken off the streets. We were driving at about 55 (we don't know exact speed as our control panel is not working) and the steering went out. it was hard pulling to the right and a few times we could not control it and went off the road. we had another incident like that when we were driving in the snow. when we purchased the car we had a fuel issue that covered under a recall.... now our whole panel is out. we don't know the speed we are going, the oil light and engine light are always on. we take care of our car so we know its not low on anything. *tr

Problems with my 2005 chevy trailblazer started with a series of engine lights, misfiring and stalling at low speeds and upon acceleration. my thermostat has been replaced numerous amount of times . i do preventative maintenance to keep my car in good working condition. i'm a single parent i need my car. my entire dashboard stopped working after getting stuck on and off. the fuel gauge was last to go 3 days ago. i fill up my tank it still reads empty with the light. my tailgate door the latch locks up. i manually have to move to latch so it closes. my doors sticking when the car is unlocked and it hard to get out the locks don't unlatch the first time. my car is very nice until u get in it to see everything is malfunctioning. i guess my speed, gas level and that's not cool. i been going through these same problems since 2011 and it's 2014. the fuel gauge was the last to go recently. when i fill up my tank it still reads empty with the indicator light. my repair was $565 we thought it was exhaust leak and had to replace the entire manifold it was cracked... i absolutely can't afford anything else and i need tires.please help i'm furious. . when you purchase a vehicle you expect it to last. that doesn't. my mechanics have been the same since day one and have given me every discount and warranty . i want my vehicle repaired i can't physically cause this type of damage . it's internal and not my fault. i have never had a car with this temperament . i have had 4 cars previous to this one and they lasted through the years until i decided to change cars. everyone has the same problems with their vehicle as i do . how is that possible? manufacturers should value quality not quantity. i have every single document to verify this as well as my mechanics. i would like my vehicle repaired and to be reimbursed. *tr

Starting up my car last wednesday morning,i went to roll my window down on the drivers side and there was a hesitation then it stopped and i smelled something burning.from that point forward i was no longer able to roll my window down or up and lost all functions from that contact pad....in looking thru the varies recalls for this vehicle i noticed the recall for the drivers door module in 2006,2007. if this recall initiated with the 2005 trailblazer in 08/12, why is this model not included in the recall???? why will i have to pay the $400 in repairs somehow this doesn't seem ethical. especially if you knew this was happening in the 2005 chevy trailblazer...i am sure i am preaching to the choir but maybe you can provide me with incite as to the logic!!!!!!!! *tr

Multiple gauges on the instrument panel stopped working. they include: fuel gauge, speedometer, voltmeter, and tachometer. the first to go out was the fuel gauge. then speedometer, followed by the voltmeter and the tachometer about the same time. chevy has fixed the fuel gauge issue by recall. but has not addressed the other gauges on the instrument panel. *tr

I was driving down the highway in a rainy state with the driver's window partially cracked. water began dripping in onto the driver window control panel, so i closed the window. a few minutes later i went to roll down my window and none of the controls worked. there was a faint electrical burning smell. all four window controls on the panel would no longer function as well as the heated seat buttons. the door lock still functioned as well as the window lock out button. i'm just glad this happened with the window up. swapping the passenger side door control panel with the driver's side door control panel allows you to raise and lower the window, so it is the control panel that is defective. i see that the 2006 and 2007 models were recalled for this due to fires, but no recall exists for the 2005 fires as fires haven't been reported yet. *tr

Saturday night (03/1/14) on our way home it started snowing heavily, the visibility was low and our windows were fogging up and the front heater blower went off on our 2005 chevy trailblazer and would not come back on. while trying to find a place to safely pull over we almost hit another vehicle because we couldn't see through our fogged up windows.. after we pulled over and turned the car off the blower motor came on and continued to run with the car off and the key removed from the ignition, so we re-started the car, and the blower went off and never came back on... then today i went out started the car to warm up the engine and the blower came on. i drove to the store shut the car off and the blower continued to run so i re-started the car and turned it off again and the blower motor stopped. when i re-entered the car to go home the blower once again would not turn on at any speed. so i figured if i didn't have heat at least i had a heated seat but after about 5-10 mins the seat part of the seat got so hot it was burning my butt and thighs so i had to shut it off. then about 1/2 home the blower just started blowing again, i pulled into the gas station shut the car off and the blower motor once again continued to run with the car off and the key out of the ignition so again i put the key in started the car then turned it off again and the motor stopped. this could be a very serious issue with not being able to defrost the windshield/windows in these hazardous driving conditions< plus not having heat in below zero temps is a health hazard as well. ( since we live in such a cold snowy state). *tr

I have any issues with my fuel gauge and dash reading for years now. i thought it was an issue with just my truck but in reading other complaints it seems as there is an issue. i bought my truck new and currently have 178,000 miles on it. i was told bythe dealer that the gas gauge issue would not be covered as it's 10 years or 120,000 which every came first. my dash board has not been working for some time first it was the speedometer and then the oil and other's components soon followed. *tr

Vehicle's headlamps will power surge, dim while driving periodically. fuel sensor showed constant empty until repaired by the recall. vehicle will occasionally surge forward revving on it's own at random times. the blower resistor pack has burnt up twice, the blower motor has been replaced as well as the melted wires.now the vehicle will not start. the power windows, locks, radio, dome lights, dash lights are inoperative and the vehicle will not attempt to turn over. seems like this vehicle has had a lot of electrical issues. *tr

Driving at a low speed through a residential area the engine would serge between 2k rpm and 4k rpm. if surging is allowed to persist then it is followed by the vehicle's power steering shut off ultimately ending in the engine shutting off. after vehicle is restarted the cycle starts again after a short period of driving. *tr

Fuel gauge pegged out past full then returned to empty. it has not been correct since. mechanics i have talked to said this is an ongoing problem with the trailblazers. i think there should be a recall issued for the problem. i noticed on the nhtsa website that there have been over 600 complaints filed. this could be a real problem and could possibly be a real safety hazard to families. suppose you run out of fuel going down the interstate at 70 mph and you run out of fuel and can't get to the emergency lane, someone could possibly rear-end you because you can't get over. i think this should be fixed at gm's cost. *tr

While we were driving on i-94 near mile marker 12 in michigan, the rear axle broke, making the car inoperable. we were able to coast to the shoulder of the interstate. *tr

First speedometer quit working. reads "0" all the time. then the gas gage quite working. reads empty and the light is on all the time. then the oil gage also quit working. this happened all within about 6 months of each other.

Driving on the highway to the shore my speedometer increased to 95 mph. when we parked it was stuck on 10. since then it has happened many times. when i park i have to check what it stops at. sometimes, its 10, 20, 30, etc. i have tried disconnecting the negative battery cable and that helps as a temp fix. my dealer says there is no recall, but i saw online a class action suit against gm, but not for trailblazers. this is a gm issue and i don't have the money to get it fixed. updated 03/11/14

I was driving on the highway when i slowed down & stopped for an accident ahead of me. i did not slam on my brakes and i did not go over any bumps that would jar the vehicle. i was stopped for approximately 20 minutes. when i began accelerating i noticed the speedometer was no longer accurately reading my speed. i was doing around 50 mph, but my speedometer was reading 22 mph. i tried turning the car off once i got home, then restarting it, but it was still reading 22 mph. when i drove it the next day, it started out reading 10 mph, and has varied since then, but still not reading accurately. *tr

I went into town to grab dinner and as i am driving along, my headlights shut off. the only thing that remained on, were the orange turn signal lights. i frantically turned the headlight knob on an off and nothing happened. i was looking for a place to turn off the highway, however it was night time and i had no headlights. i ended up pulling over to the gravel side of the road, and turned the car off. now i am stuck on the side of the highway at night time, with no working headlights. i turned the car off and got out, tapped the headlights and looked for any physical damage and did not find an answer. upon starting the car again, it sounded like someone had turned on a vacuum cleaner. the noise pitched up for about 5 seconds before pitching back down. after re-starting the oil pressure gauge moved from its normal position at "12 o'clock" to an abnormal "6 o'clock". i tried to call onstar for a vehicle diagnostic, however now my radio would not work either. i tried the headlights again, and they still would not turn on. i turned on my high beams, and proceeded back home. while en route my speedometer was reading 10mph over my actual speed. when i pulled into my driveway and turned the car off, the speedometer stayed at 10mph. i find it very hard to believe that all of these things happened all at once as a coincidence. this is a huge safety concern as i lost the ability to see at night, as well as the ability to monitor my speed all while trying to drive. not to mention all of the motorists who were blinded by my high beams on the way back. *tr

While driving my vehicle, the speedometer stops working. it works when you start the car, then when stops are made, it stops working altogether and goes to zero. i have researched the internet, and this is a huge problem for this vehicle, and gm should have recalled this faulty part years ago. when i took it to get repaired the service place said it was a cluster that would cost over $500 to get fixed. once again, this is a huge problem and gm should take care of ts customers. *tr

My speedometer needle would read the wrong mph and start to bounce all over the place and about a week after that started it just wasn't working all together and now doesn't move at all. *tr

Bought this vehicle used in oct 2010. not long thereafter, noticed the speedometer wouldn't work all the time - normally it works when i first start driving but when the vehicle warms up, it stops working all together. i think it's a safety issue if you do not know how fast you are going. the cruise control also doesn't work once in a while. most of the time it does, but occasionally i can't get it to go on at all. *tr

Please consider a new requirement for all new vehicles produced that are equipped with a rear liftgate/tailgate, such as crossovers, suv's and mini-vans. there is no way to open the gate from the inside. there needs to be a latch to open all gates from inside the vehicle in case it becomes the only way out in case of fire or if sinking in water. *tr

Sometimes while driving my vehicle at night(and during the day), within (15-20 minutes into the drive) my headlights go off and do not come back on for a period of time. when this happens i usually have to pull over and let the vehicle sit for a period of time(15-60 minutes). this issue is intermittent and i can not predict when it will happen. but it happens enough that this poses a great safety risk to me and other drivers on the freeway. *tr

The window and lock controls on the driver door handle just stopped working leaving my window open. it is not a fuse. i began looking for other issues online and have come across this issue on earlier model trailblazers. i am in a cold climate as the other recall is applicable to. *tr

I was driving during summer time and my fuel gage went from full to empty for no reason. i had just filled up, so i knew there was gas in the tank. it has since given me random readings. if i let the gas level fall below 3/4 of a tank. it will go to empty even if i filled the tank. it does work randomly sometimes. *tr

Driver side master power window switch does not work the driver side window at all! out of the blue this stopped working. further research shows that the 2006-2007 models were recalled not the 2005! really, this car is "currently registered in a cold weather state which uses salt to clear the roads" (direct quote from general motors and isuzu recall 258,000 suvs, the associated press, august 19, 2012) since 12/2005 which is when the vehicle was purchased. just because my vehicle did not have a fire "yet" but i have the "exact" problem which arose before these vehicles did catch fire, mine is not recalled? not only was the transmission recalled in 2008, i had a problem with the "blower motor" not working when you turn on the heat. you could only turn on the heat to no. 4. the truck was taken for service on 1/10/06, 1/30/06, 2/7/06 and 2/17/06 which was not even 2 mo. after purchasing said vehicle before the problem was corrected. in 11/06 the "fuel pump module" was replaced and covered "only" because i had the extended warranty and i had to pay the $100.00 deductible, because i had gas but it was not registering. again, i continue to have this problem. when calling gm on 7/24/13 about the window switch recall, i now find out that there is a "special coverage" for the "fuel level sensor". this is covered until 7/24/14, per gm (866-694-6546), unless you have more than 120,000 something miles. was not sure of the mileage exactly since mine is below that figure. the window switch is a serious malfunction that needs to be covered in "all years" of this vehicle. while sitting at a red light with your foot on the brake, the vehicle will just rev up and want to take off. i guess this isn't a "big deal" either. you can't even listen to the radio to distract you with all these problems going on because the radio only comes out of "one" speaker! go figure, it is gm! *tr

The gas hand does not work. $50+ dollars is put in at the gas station, then the gas light still comes on. this same issue has been going on for almost a year now and have run out of gas on at least 2 occasions. i haven't been able to get it fixed because i can't afford it, but it is really a safety concern. from what i've read on line recently, this is a problem with several trailblazer owners across the country. *tr

In the beginning the speedometer would go all the way to highest speed immediately upon cranking vehicle. after a few months or quit working all together. the gas gage quit working a few months after that. then again a few months later all other gauges quit working except rpm gage. that is only functioning gage on instrument panel. *tr

My speedometer quit working one day, and hasn't worked since. while driving it will say i'm going the speed limit and all of a sudden its drops to 0 mph, or say i'm driving 30 mph. my speedometer is never accurate. i went had it checked with the chevrolet dealer ship and they stated i need a new speed instrument cluster and it would cost me $518.00 just for the part, not including the labor. *tr

Fuel gauge does not accurately show the right level of fuel in the car. fuel light comes on when tank is full. fuel gauge shows full tank when empty. this has caused two cases o car breaking down and being stranded. one incident almost caused car to be rear ended on busy highway. *tr

I had recently purchased the vehicle in april of 2011. i stopped after getting paid on a friday to fill up my tank and when i go to turn on my vehicle the gauge goes to full and just drops all the way to empty. since than i've had the same problem running out of gas in the streets dozens of time. i tried using my trip but my mph aren't always accurate i don't even know how many gallons my tank holds. being stranded for awhile with my children is really tough. i can't just afford to pay over $500 to have my problem fixed just because gm won't be responsible enough to do a recall. *tr

Fuel sensor seems to be failing as is with many other problems with the electrical system on this car including a broken speedometer at 60,000 miles. this car seems to have far too many sensor or electrical issues and given the safety implications of speedometers that suddenly fail and fuel sensors that fail, it would seem prudent for someone to realize that these issues pose a severe safety hazard to all. after research on the internet, speedometers and fuel sensors seem to be a common issue with trailblazers. please research the electrical system and sensors more closely. *tr

After filling up my gas tank the fuel sensor read empty and the gas light was on. also, whiel driving the fuel sensor would jump around showing empty, full and the gas light would come on. the vehcile was still under warranty at the time so i took it to the dealership to have it repaired. the service rep at the dealership inidcated that it was a common problem with the fuel sensor and it would need to be replaced. he mentioned that i was lucky the vehicle was still under warranty because the repair was very costly. my vehicle occassionaly lurches when it put inot gear from being parked or idle as if it wants to just take off right away. i contacted gm on this and they stated there was nothing they could do, but i have researched and found that many others have has this same problem. another issude i have had was my speedometer and entire dash cluster failing. while driving on the interstate my speedometer jumped to over 100 mph and then back down to 0. at that point it stopped working for a few minutes then started working properly again. finally it stopped working altogether. i took it to my mechanic and he replaced the enitre cluster panel which cost me around $800.00. again, he did some research and found this to be a common problem. i sent gm a letter with a copy of the repair bill along with documentation of the many complaints i found online with the same issue. i heard nothing. i reached out with a phone call and was told the issue did not warrant a recall. this could be a serious safety issue. please consider a recall as it apperas this vehicle was just poorly made and many other people are experiencing the same issues. *tr

While driving it appears that my headlights are receiving a surge of power which causes them to blink as if i am flashing my headlights. this has happened on and off for a couple of years now. since this has started i have had to replace my headlights about every 6 to 8 months. after the third time i replaced the same headlight my mechanic showed me the fuse and stated that it seems there is a surge of power that causes the fuses to blow. i explained to him that my headlights seem to blink on their own every now and then and we did some research online and noticed that this seems to be a common problem in mid 2000 model trailblazers. i contacted gm to make them aware with nothing more than a, "sorry for your inconvenience". i have also experienced issues with my door electronics. you can hear the power windows and door locks make a clicking sound as if they are being engaged without being operated. the speakers in the doors do not work after it rains or in very humid conditions. the power windows and door lock button lights work on and off and blink. the door/key chime rarely works. it seems to me that there is a serious issue regarding the electrical system of this model. i recently heard about the recall starting with 2006 models with electrical issues and i really believe this problem is not just isolated to the electronics in the door, but the overall electrical system in these vehicles. considering the amount of complaints i have researched online it seems that these are common problems with these vehicles. please for the safety of the consumers consider an investigation and recall into the full electrical system of this vehicle as it could be a serious safety hazard risking fire. *tr

Fuel gauge is not working properly. stays on (e) empty, even after filling up. can not tell how much fuel is in the tank. must keep track of miles driven on a daily basis to ensure of not running out of gas when driving. dangerous and very unsafe. *tr

My speedometer tells the speed plus or minus 40mph. my oil pressure gauge is stuck at around 210psi. today, i noticed that my fuel tank now reads 150% full, and the voltage is down to 9v. this is all due to a defective instrument cluster that gm had a class action suit filed on several other makes of vehicles, but denied the trailblazer, due to lack of complaints. consider this a complaint. undoubtedly, gm is hoping the mileage runs over 70,000 so i will have to pay at least part of their defective workmanship. consider how many trailblazers are zipping down the road, unaware of this defect... perhaps going only 10-20 mph over the limit. lack of complaints to the nhtsa is a poor excuse to not recall, fix and/or verify the vehicle in question is not an issue. i am currently using a gps smartphone as a speedometer, but as you can imagine, it is less accurate than ideal. a young friend housesitting my dog drove my car once, on a bad snow day, and got a speeding ticket, as he was unaware that the problem existed. i suggest gm be made to fix it. *tr

Even if this car is well maintained it sadly as serious electrical issues that chevy does not want to come to terms with. the speedometer goes out and in and reads incorrectly as well as the rest of the gauges at random points in time. the heating system needs replaces and the alternator consistently needs to be replaced even when the maintenance of the car is maintained. it is a consistent struggle to keep the car running even if it is not on high miles and it is a sad product for chevy. *tr

The fuel gauge in my vehicle stopped working. i did some research and this seems like a common problem to trailblazers that gm is ignoring. running out of fuel can be very dangerous especially on busy highways. so i think this should be a safety issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. *tr

2005 chevrolet trailblazer. consumer writes in regards to vehicle fuel gauge sensor issues. *smd the consumer state the first time the fuel gauge starting acting erratic was in 2007. the dealer informed his wife, the vehicle had ran out of gas, even though the gauge indicated there was 1/2 tank of gas. the consumer stated he continues to experience an erratic behavior of the fuel pump and the low fuel indicator light illuminated. the latest preliminary diagnosis was the vehicle was unable to sustain an idle, because of the erratic fuel pressure (fuel pump). the consumer also stated the vehicle has electrical problems and the oil pressure gauge was inoperative.

Fuel gauge reads empty after filling tank, won't reset itself after fueling. back hatch lock is stuck in lock and has already been replaced once. sometime when your setting still at a red light or just going slow in traffic, there seems to be a "surge" of power or fuel to where the vehicle lurches forward. when driving at night the lights will flicker or dim on there own. *tr

Filled up gas tank only to find that it was reading empty. fluctuated between empty and 1/4 tank. ran out of gas with children in vehicle at one point in very bad weather. finally able to save $450.00 to have it fixed. is it true that gm will pay for half of the repair bill? very upset with general motors!! *tr

Speedometer failure. speed presented by gauge was incredibly inaccurate. rate of speed was 20-30 mph faster. finally a total "lock-up" of instrument. at a stand still gauge reported 60mph. this has been reported to gm they refuse to recall these vehicles. refused to repair. further research showed thousands of reports of failures of speedometers. how many people have died and or crashed because rate of speed was inaccurate?? *tr

I had just filled up my suv, and while on the highway, my fuel gauge started dropping within a minutes time, to 3/4 tank, 1/2 tank, 1/4 tank, then the fuel light came on and stated i was on empty. i didn't smell gasoline, but the gauge then started going back up, then down and went haywire. after some of the gas was used, it went back up to almost full, but after a bit, it dropped back down to half tank again. every subsequent time i fill up, the gauge does the same thing. another incident that has been happening for the last few years is the head lights dim and get brighter. this doesn't happen all the time, but at least three times a week. i didn't think too much about it until i saw other complaints on this website about the same thing. *tr

Purchased 11/24/2008 ~20k miles. within 5months a whole host of issues started, the 1st being the fuel gauge not working by showing full & actually not (ran out of gas twice) and then showing empty after fillup. 1week later the engine light came on & the instrument panel stopped working. ~ one year later, dec 2009 the speedometer fluctuated from working properly to ~50-55mph base instead of 0. after a few days, the speedometer did zero-out but then did not show any speed but stayed at 0. along with the speedometer issue are the headlights dimming sporadically. all of the issues have continued on-off since. march 2012 the windshield reservoir started leaking/cracked. february 2013 had tuneup, brakes, and thermostat replaced and since then add front vents stopped working plus severe, sporadic, high idle - driving to work (metropolitan, downtown, capital of state-high rush hour) the high rev started and all i wanted was to get to workplace parking lot ~2miles. 2blcks fr pkg lot, i was braking at a left, dblturn light with the rev & brakes grabbingh/counteracting. i come to a full stop but my suv revs to over 3rpms & i thought the trblzr would break free & crash into the cars in front of me! i have a "christine" car and hate the feeling of driving an unsafe vehicle that chevy won't recall/fix and i can't afford to buy anything else currently or get all these issues repaired. i place mine, my kids and passengers' lives & safety into jeopardy every time we get in to drive/ride. i only have 78k miles and 1yr of car pymnts left. i will never buy another chevy again and i was a diehard chevy and "buy american" consumer. this vehicle is a piece of junk. my next purchase will be any vehicle that is safe, whoever the manufacturer may be. can anything be done to help??? *tr

My speedometer started to go crazy jumping around while on the highway it started off reading fine then all of the sudden it read that i was going 120mph by the time i got home it did not work at all had to guess my speed then about a two weeks later it started to work again same day it went haywire again and now it does not work at all. also i have been having problems with battery draining i have been to several places to get it check out all that can be found out is that something is staying on while the car is in the off position. there are times when i have to jump my car several times in a day and there are times when i can go days, weeks without the problem just never know when it is going to happen. *tr

Vehicle would not start. had it towed to mechanic shop. battery was completely dead, though the battery was only 1 year old and was a very expensive ac delco 6 yr battery. mechanic changed the alternator and the battery and everything tested the same. put old battery and alternator back in, as battery he charged was holding the charge ok. could not locate source of problem. the next day, the dash lights were not working, nor the interior lights. as i drove along the highway, the dashlights blinked and then stayed on. ceiling light works intermittently. the alternator shows that it is charging very hard. according to other incidents reported on the internet, there is an electrical problem in the 2005 trailblazer that may or may not be associated with the passlock anti-theft system, but in any case, shows slow leak of electrical current that slowly drains the battery 24/7, until the battery is dead. why is no recall issued making general motors responsible to find and fix this problem without cost to the owners of 2005 trailblazers. i spent $130.00 at the mechanic shop and they could not find what the problem is, much less fix it. my vehicle is parked in a garage most of the time, and there is no reason for this malfunction other than faulty gm part somewhere. our local chevy dealer told me they think the problem is related to the passlock anti-theft system but they have never been able to nail it down. they reference a vehicle which they kept for two weeks for diagnosis of a "won't start" complaint, and the vehicle started some days and not other days with no pattern to the malfunction. *tr

I purchased my '05 trailblazer new off the lot never had any problems until the speed odometer stopped working. couple years later my oil & gas gage stopped working. i based my speed off my rpm & calculate my gas mileage after each fill up. now my dashboard lights are dimming & i've noticed on many occasions my headlights flicker...i have replaced the battery twice & the water pump twice. now when my check engine light or this other little chk gage light comes on, i don't know if a malfunction of if something is truly wrong. now it's running rough, acts as if it wants to cut off. they have checked all that they can but because the chk engine light isn't on, there's no way for them to identify the problem. and unfortunately, when the mechanic rides with me of course the car won't do it...and although, these are separate issues i can't wonder if replacing the battery is connected the same system as the dashboard. i've been told by 2 differ mechanics it would cost up to $600 to replace the whole system. but after reading all the complaints, many having the same issue as me i can't help but wonder if this problem could or should be on a recall & if not, why? if you view the complaints why not look into the very present & persistent problem! its very frustrating & aggravating to play a guessing game when your up & down a highway daily! not to mention a safety hazard! surely, your company isn't so money hungry that you can't take responsibility for you product & offer to pay for some or all the costs to repair! i'm a single mother of 3 & i was blessed enough to pay my car off a year ago but i've paid more in repair costs & stressing whether or not i'll make it safely to & from my destination! i never had this many issues with my grand jeep cherokee. i am truly disappointed in your vehicle... *tr

First my speed gauge started going crazy reading different everytime i crank the vehicle then the alternator gauge started reading off the chart my highest number on the gauge is 19 it is reading at the 210 on the temp gauge that is how far past the 19 it is today however it may be different later i love chevy my family are all chevy people and it is sad that chevy has forgotten about there customers i am in law school not long left when i am finished i am filing a suit for all the people who own this vehicle chevy needs to step up an take responsibility it is not a fluke that this many people are having the same problems and it is ridiculous that chevy has dropped so low that they expect us to just eat these problem well quite frankly i am full up of the bs i am also writing my local paper and news station and i will bug them until they run an article and air these problems an some other problems these vehicles are having chevy won't fix our problems they won't listen to the ones whom keep them in business well maybe they will listen to a judge step up chevy it is crazy that you won't take responsibility for malfunctioning parts you will see your day in court. *tr ## vin failed ##

2005 cheverlot trailblazer has had an issue since i purchased it in 2004 with stalling out. however over the last 4 years i have had an issue of no start... everything has been replaced by the dealer ignition switch, alternator, starter, exhaust, etc.... last result was the pcm powertrain module supposedly the brains of the car. however the same day it stalled again, most recently my dealership took it for a week and said they could not reduplicate issue. so there again i am at the same place where the car will be fine for weeks then do a no start untill after serveral attempts and smell of gas finally the car will start. chevrelot trailblazer have known this problem for awhile has done nothing about it ...resolve the issue and do a recall spent over $10,000 on just maintenance.. what is chevy going to do about this issue? *tr ## vin failed ##

2005 trailblazer ext, 55500 miles, bought new. in january 2013 i filled up my gas tank. within one block of leaving the gas station the fuel gauge went to “0” (empty). thereafter, the gauge reads intermittently between what seems to be normal & empty. the error code p0463 (obd ii, obd2) indicates a fuel sending unit failure. this leaves me with a dangerous vehicle. why? scenario: your traveling 60 mph, run out of fuel & now have a disabled vehicle on a highway with other travelers whizzing by. the repair for the fuel sending unit is said to be $600 to over $1000. by the way, i had a '97 s10 blazer that had the same problem. i understand there are currently almost one million complaints registered for the same thing on gm vehicles.

My gas gauge has stayed on empty for a month or so with the gas light on. i have not had the money to fix it and i put gas in it the night before the incident happened. i was driving home from a family members house a few blocks away from my house and my 2005 trailblazer died and everything locked up on me. the brakes would not work what so ever. and i just had brand new brakes put on a couple months ago and my steering wheel locked up. my vehicle would not stop. it kept going. i am so happy that i didn't have my three small children with me. it took me three turns onto three different streets before it finally stopped. it was very hard to turn. and my back wheels were making a horrible noise and smelled really bad when i got out. i always keep a gas can in the back in case i ever run out of gas due to the gauge not working. and mind you i have only had this vehicle a year. gm should have to pay to get this fixed. this is very dangerous. thankfully someone was watching over me and there was no other cars headed toward me. it was on a main roads that has a 45 mile an hour speed limit. i will never buy a chevy again. *tr

While waiting in line of a car wash my chevy trailblazer shut off and a strong smell of gas filled the vehicle while what appeared to be gas leaked from under the driver seat. after doing some reading on the issue i'm discovering this is happening regularly to chevrolet vehicles and recalls are not being made. had we been on the highway or a busy street where people constantly flick cigarettes out the window, this could have played out differently. i understand that it can be costly to have a recall but my whole family was in the suv and from the sound of it so were other family's. i have had no major problems with my vehicle and very upset that this is a problem that could have been avoided and cost less if a recall had been issued. i will never buy another chevrolet for not valuing their customers! *tr

In 2007 i paid off my vehicle and now became the proud owner of my truck. in 2009, i noticed some problems with my truck. first, the gas gauge would say "f" full, but really it was on "e" empty. then the mileage gauge ? i can be on the expressway going as fast as the other cars, but my car reads 20 mph. this is crazy!!!! i called at 800-number for gmc and was informed that there was no recalls or any others calls for the 2005 trailblazer, which i knew was a huge lie!!!! i decided to go on line and google the make and model of my car. wow? guesses what i seen? there were over 41,000 people who have the same problems that i had for their 2005 trailblazer. again, the problem with my truck has gotten worst. in 2010, i called again and was informed that their still wasn't any other calls or concerns with my truck and that i should take it to an authorize chevy dealership. well, i did .. . in 2011, i called again.. same script same story!!! i received a letter for a emission test for my car. well, let me tell you when i took my vehicle up to the emission testing it failed!!! . i got an estimate cost of $ 1900, plus they found 3 additional codes. . well, i got a 2008 chevy impala. i went from paying no car note, to $381.00 a month note. the week of september 4th, 2011.. i receive a letter from chevrolet addressing the issues with the 2005 chevy trailblazers, and offering 50% on repairs for the same problems that i have been calling on for 2 years. Filled up truck and gas gauge still said it was empty. gas gauge is faulty and no longer works. have to keep track of mileage now so i don't run out of gas. i also read that gm is willing to cover half the cost and were suppose to send a letter stating that. never received anything. not at all impressed with gm and will find it hard to stay a loyal customer. *tr

Refueled with gas and gauge did not go up. ever since, gauge does not show proper level of gas in tank. got a letter from gm but they want me to pay half to repair it which total cost is $266.00 my cost is $133.00 gm knows this is a problem and should offer a total recall instead of a rip-off of 50-50 to the customer. *tr

I was traveling at approximately 55mph and the speedometer was indicating 120+mph. the speedometer has been sticking and indicating incorrect speed for about a month. normally when the engine is cold and the outside temperature is cold. when driving and the vehicle warms up, the speedometer eventually corrects itself after stopping at a light and shutting the engine off and back on. *tr

Note: this is the second catastrophic brake failure for this vehicle on september 204 , 2012, while on a trip from houston tx to winona mn, i was driving down a ranch road and came to a stop to let a passenger get out and open a gate. i drove through the open gate and put the trailblazer in park while waiting for the gate to be closed and the passenger to get back in the vehicle. i then went to apply the brakes in order to move the transmission from park to drive and, once again, the braking system failed catastrophically, and the brake pedal went to the floor. a mechanic was called out and, he too pumped the brake pedal, which hit the floor with no resistance of any kind. there were three eyewitnesses to this catastrophic failure. this mechanic replaced the master cylinder and found out that i am not the only 05 trailblazer owner who has suffered through catastrophic brake failure events. a listing of investigations is given on this website: http://www.faqs.org/car/chevrolet-trailblazer-2005/service-brakes/. *tr

, i was approaching a line of cars stopped for a red light. the weather was clear and i was decelerating and moving at approximately 20 ± mph. as i began to apply the brakes, they failed catastrophically. the brake pedal hit the floor,with no resistance, and i ran into the back of a stopped pickup truck?.watching it all unfold before my eyes while my foot frantically pumped the brake pedal, which hit the floor with each attempt. although it was a front end collision, the airbags did not deploy. *tr

I was refueling on gas, when i started that truck back up, my fuel indicator light came on stating that the truck was empty of fuel. now mind you i just placed $44.50 into the gas tank which at the time the gas pump click to let me know the tank was full of fuel. it took about 2 days for the fuel indicator to show the correct amount of fuel in the truck. now ever time i fill up the fuel indicator light states it is empty after turning the truck back on and off on the fourth time then the indicator light will shut off and fuel gauge will show that correct amount of gas. *tr

When my gas gauge stopped working, it showed i had fuel in my tank, turns out i did not. i ran out of gas while on an interstate in maine..in the dead of winter, at night, on icy roads, traveling at approx 35 miles an hour. as all of you know, when you run out of fuel, the power steering & braking shut down and the vehicle can be very difficult to maneuver as well as very dangerous... especially on icy roads in maine in january. i am a young lady and happened to be all alone when this occurred and not to mention i was about 15 miles away from the nearest gas station.. so needless to say i was not happy. i wasn't about to hike the interstate, by myself in freezing cold weather at night.. i do not have a death wish. although i had to sit in my vehicle, where i had no heat, due to no fuel, and wait for over an hour for my dad to come rescue me. this is not right, and it is not the consumers fault, this needs to be addressed by gm, because as you've heard by me, and many others, it's a huge safety issue, and they need to fix this problem. some of these complaints go back into 2007, it's now 2012.. what are you waiting for?? fatal accidents because of your stupidity? make it right gm. you have not heard the last of this... *tr

The blower/fan on the air conditioner/heater stopped working. it first began with #4 and #5 on the fan selector switch not working, but then it stopped altogether. after doing research this blower motor problem is very popular amongst these vehicles. also, the fuel gauge on the dash hasn't worked in about 3 years. after doing some research, it appears that this is due to the fuel sensor in the fuel tank. again, this is very common occurrence within the trailblazer community. i was given an estimate of $774 for the blower motor to be fixed and $600 for the fuel gauge to be fixed. *tr

Door locks repeatedly locked and unlocked, then cascading failures, anti-lock light, engine light, other warning lights. engine started to run rough and would not make power, engine quit. note transmission gear indicator read incorrectly. disconnected battery, and reconnected, engine started got me home. three occurrences that the engine just quits. it will restart after a few minutes. mechanic could not find anything wrong. had another occurrence, mechanic found a code indicating the ecm may be bad. he tells me this should have noting to do with the door locks. the door locks latch and unlatch, uncommanded. engine stops when under power. mechanic has no course of action at this time. *tr

Gas gauge stopped working then would operate intermittently although incorrectly. researched this issue on the internet and found that this was a common problem for 2005 trailblazers. contacted dealership and found there is a special "secret" policy covering this problem. i have included the response from the service department: "i hope you are having a great day. i do see that your vehicle does fall under the special policy 10054 which extends the warranty with a 50/50 split until 3/30/2016 or 120,000 miles on the fuel level sensor. if the issue you are experiencing is being caused by the sensor gm would pay for half the repair and you would be responsible for the other 50% of the cost which your portion would be around $200-$250.00. we would have to diagnose the issue first but if the cause is the sensor covered by the special policy you would only owe the aforementioned 50% of the repair. if you would like to set an appointment you can either reply to this email or call us direct at 414-425-7180. if you should have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to let me know." they want $99 for a diagnosis to determine if i qualify for a 50/50 split on repairs for their design problem. this is a ripoff. *tr

After filling up my 2005 trailblazer, my gas needle went to empty and the light came on. the next morning my gas gauge was on full but then it started moving intermittently and has not stopped since. i am never sure how much gas i have and do not have the money to pay for repairs. after reading all the complaints from other people who also have a 2005 trailblazer, it seems there should be a recall from gm. they are offering a "deal" as they call it where they will replace the fuel sensor if you have less than 120,000 miles but you still half to pay for half of the repair and gm will pay the other half. this is not a "deal", it should be covered by gm at 100%!

There is a chevrolet issue with the gas gauges that chevrolet will not take full responsibility for. they are asking customers to pay 1/2 which can cost us to $300 or more for the customer. the gas gauge is registering full then empty without notice. the gauge lights up empty even when the tank is full. we never know how much gas is in the car. i have scheduled an appointment to have this fixed but chevrolet is not covering the entire cost and this is truly a manufacturer recall. *jb

While driving on the highway the other day my gas gauge in my 2005 chevrolet trailblazer showed that my gas tank was in between half and quarter tank of gas. i was going approx 60-65 mph on the highway and the vehicle stalls due to being out of gas!!!! i get it towed to a gas station and fill it up when i start my car now it shows that there is no gas in the car when i just filled the tank. this is a major problem as i had my young child in the vehicle with me when the stall on the highway occurred. not a happy person these days!! *tt

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact noticed a burning odor and smoke coming from the front passenger side door. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised that the power window module was melted and would have to be replaced. there was an investigation under nhtsa action number: ea12004 (visibility:power window devices and controls electrical system) for the 2006-2007 models that could possibly have been related to the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also experienced a failure with the rear driver side seat belt. the passenger became trapped by the seat belt when it would not unlock. the contact had to cut the seat belt in order to release the passenger. the seat belt was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

The fuel gauge does not work. this seems to be a very common problem, and gm's only remedy is to screw over consumers by making them pay for a known defective part out of pocket. this should be recalled and fixed at gm's expense, or they should at least offer a discount. their $800.00 estimate is silly. *tr

While driving to work my cruise control shut down and my speedometer stopped working. a couple weeks later the speedometer began working and now it has stopped again and stuck on 55 and doesn't move regardless if the vehicle is on or off. the cruise control won't work. i am very frightened to continue driving without knowing what speed i am driving. i can't afford to keep spending money on this vehicle to repair all the problems it's had. wondering if the speedometer is covered under my 100,000 mile warranty. please help. *tr

At the time of purchase the owners noticed the rear brake lights did not work. the owners immediately return the car to the place of purchase for replacement of the brake lights. several weeks later there was an issue with the vehicle speakers and that seemed to indicate an issue with the electrical in the car. while listening to the radio at any volume (low, medium or high) a high pitch, frequency or reverberation would happen. this is only when the radio is played, not when listening to cd's. the temporary solution is to firmly hit the middle arm rest to stop the reverberation. it's an annoyance but could potentially lead to other electrical issues and enormous costs. please advice of either safety recalls, defects and possible service repair to the vehicle. *jb

On or about november 12, 2010 the vehicle owner had the instrument panel replaced. shortly after replacing the instrument panel at a cost of approximately $550 the gas sensor stopped working. the owner complained to the chevy service department but was told that this was a separate issue and not caused by the replacement of the instrument panel. the owner checked for recalls on the internet but found more complaints for the same issue but no manufacture recall or data on either the instrument panel or gas senor/gauge. since the gas sensor/gauge/fuel level indicator does not work the vehicle owners have run out of gas at least 3 separate times. 1). a friday night at 10:00 p.m. on a dark winding road; 2). on a very busy 4-lane thorough fare both vehicle owners and a passenger ran out of gas at a stop light; 3). most recently was approximately 3-weeks ago. there's no way to know when the gas tank is full or running low on fuel because the "low gas" fuel light stays on most of the time or when the owners do fill-up the tank the gas gauge remains "e". the owners were quoted the cost of repair would be upwards of $500+.

Nearly eight months after the purchase of the chevy trailblazer (april 2008) and while traveling from tennessee to new york the instrument panel that controls the rpm, odometer, speed, fuel gauge, oil level, temperature, etc. completely stopped working. while traveling in the state of new york on i-90 e the driver had no indication of the vehicle speed. when shifting from the left passing lane to the nearest middle lane a ny state trooper clocked the vehicle speed at approximately 90+ miles per hour. the driver was sighted with a speeding ticket during the thanksgiving holiday weekend. the vehicle owner had the instrument panel replaced at a cost of more than $500. however, soon after the instrument panel was replaced the gas sensor stopped working. the owner complained to the chevy service department but was told that this was a separate issue and not caused by the replacement of the instrument panel. the owner checked for recalls on the internet but found more complaints of the same and no recall information. since the gas sensor/gauge/fuel level indicator does not work the vehicle owners have run out of gas at least 3 separate times. once on a friday night at 10:00 p.m. on a dark winding road. another time on a very busy 4-lane thorough fare the vehicle owners with a passenger ran out of gas at a stop light. most recently was approximately 3-weeks ago. the vehicle owners have purchased at least 3 new gas cans since we cannot tell with the vehicle is full of gas or not. when the gas tank is filled up there's no way of knowing and the owners cannot tell when the vehicle is running low on fuel since the "low gas" fuel light stays on most of the time or the gas gauge rarely moves passed "e". the owners were quoted that the cost to repair would be upwards of $500+. *jb

I filled up my gas tank completely and the gas gauge registered "empty." the truck has also stalled a few times in both drive and reverse. this is extremely dangerous as i was backing into traffic when it stalled. i had to quickly re-start it to avoid being hit by oncoming traffic. since my fuel gage sensor broke i have been watching the needle go from "full" to "empty" all within a minute. i've done some research on this matter and have found that chevrolet used a cheaper fuel sensor manufacturer (delco) in order to save money. the customer should not be responsible for any of the cost to repair the fuel sensor. please advise chevrolet to recall this faulty part at their expense. thank you. *tr

Like many people my 2005 chevy trailblazer has several issues regarding the instrumental panel. the first time this occurred was during a cold snap and all of the gauges got stuck on the down or off position. after some time some of the gauges (ie. speedometer ,tachometer, and oil pressure ) starting working again however, the majority of the time the readings were inaccurate. after some time elapsed (this year - 2012) the tachometer and oil pressure gauge stopped working completely. this has become an extremely hazardous situation because no vital information is being provide to the driver and the manufacture will not fix the issue. *tr

At approx 36,800 miles the gas gauge no longer functioned. the low fuel light is always on and the gas gauge always shows either empty or 1/2 full even after a fill up. in order to not run out of gas, you need to keep track of mileage with trip meter and fill up at 150 to 175 miles. the cost to fix this malfunction is over $500. in addition, the thermostat froze open and needed replaced along with the sensor inside the thermostat. this happened at 48,000 miles. *tr

After filling up my tank prior to a long distance trip to florida i noticed that my fuel gauge read empty. i was forced to estimate the gas mileage and hoped i wouldn't run out of gas. several weeks ago i ran out of gas on a major street in the atlanta area after i calculated that i had still approximately 30 miles before empty. i was able to pull over into a parking lot not without causing a major back up and potentially being involved in an accident due to speeding drivers in the area. i had contacted gm in the past regarding this problem and they apparently feel that this issue is normal wear and tear on the vehicle. it seems a bit far fetched that this is normal wear and tear when on every chevy blog and message board all you see is frustrated chevy owners complaining about the same issue. several months ago i received a notification from gm recognizing the problem and offering to pay half of the repair costs. now, how insulting is that??? you obviously now that there is a problem with the quality of your product and you have the audacity to make it seem like you're helping us out by paying for half of the repair? they should issue a recall on this problem and stand behind their supposed quality product. i hope that someone in the federal government can entice these scam artists to resolve this issue and stop putting people's lives on the line in an effort to save a buck!! *tr

The fuel gage reads inaccurate readings. this causes problems as to know how much gasoline is available in the vechicle. upon filling tank the gage will read empty. when driving the gage will read a quater of a tank then drop down to show as empty. there is never a true reading as to how much gasoline is in the vechicle. also not sure if letting this issue go will cause future issues. *tt

My 2005 trailblazer has begun to have several problems and in speaking to other chevy owners the same problems have been found in other models and years of chevy trucks and suvs. i'm very disappointed to see that chevy chooses not to recall, which is why i'll never purchase another chevrolet. beginning a few months ago my gauges began to be erratic. starting with my speedometer sticking at zero and then later sticking at 60mph even while sitting still. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. next while sitting at traffice lights or stops signs my engine began to surge forward without applying the gas. when the vehicle surges the rpm gauge also jumps up. i already replaced one transmission at 50k miles and now since passing 100k miles have begun to have rough shifting again in my vehicle. i do not drive my vehicle in a rough manner, speed, or haul a trailer, so there is no reason to be going through transmissions. now my fuel gauge has stopped working and i'm having to track my mileage with my odometer. i've never seen a vehicle with so many problems and no help offered from the maker. * tr

On december 21, 2011 my fuel had a half tank of gas. i went into the store and came out my fuel registered empty light came on. i rushed to the gas station to put more gas in and thought some one stole my gas out of my tank. this happened with the amount of fuel in my tank not registering four times since the first incident. than on january 01, 2012 my front wind shield wipers will not stop. when i turn off the vehicle they stop, when i turn on the vehicle they continue to wipe my windows until i turn my vehicle off. *tr

The fuel gauge has not been working for months. after approximately 5 gallons are used of the 20 gallon tank, it will read empty and the engine light will go off. on christmas eve, our family of 4 including two toddlers was stranded on the side of the highway because we ran out of gas due to the inaccurate fuel gauge, and when the towtruck arrived there was not enough gas to start the truck because they only bring $5 and with today's gas prices it equates to less than 2 gallons. we had to then be towed to a gas station, moving car seats into the tow truck and the toddlers screaming on the side of the highway because they didn't know what was going on, to fill the rest of the tank. while gm has offered to help (only 50%, even though this is a known problem, they are only admitting premature failure) with the cost of the repair, they won't cover it for me because i have over 120,000 miles currently, which they stated you must have less than for them to cover the 50%, even though i had less than 120,000 when the problem started occurring. even upon filling the tank, it takes about a day for the gauge to read full, and then it begins to fall steadily, not reflecting the actual amount in the tank. *tr

Gas guage stop working. i recently received a letter from gmc aknowledging a sensor problem with their 2005 gmc cars but only willing to reimburse 50% of what apparently is their fault. this is a problem that need to be fix 100% by gmc. stand behind your products! *kb

I was driving on the highway at 70mph when my engine suddenly cut. i lost power steering and brakes. luckily, traffic was clear enough and an exit ramp was accessible; however, i had a very difficult time steering to the side and thought i was going to be unable to brake. i was stranded on the off ramp for hours by myself in 40 degree weather and no heat. my gas gauge has not worked for several months (see my first complaint 10408603). i have been guessing at amount of fuel by miles driven. i should have had at least 30 miles more of gas. obviously, this is not a safe way to gauge fuel level. it will cost $600 to have the fuel system fixed. because this is an obvious problem with trailblazers, i feel the company should issue a recall. *tr

At approximately 11:00 am just after parking the vehicle in an inclined home driveway and after turning the engine off for 2-3 minutes and with the automatic transmission in the park position, the vehicle on its own started to roll down the concrete driveway and into the residential street. no one was injured or run over, though the potential was great since my wife and i were both unloading the car from the rear side doors and the tailgate, but we were neither in the doorways or behind the vehicle. apparently the park transmission lock failed or became disengaged - a serious defect. the vehicle came to a stop in the middle of the street. i restarted the car and have driven it over 100 miles without incident since yesterday. i have used the park position without incident since that time, though i have not parked the vehicle on an inclined surface.

Gas gauge went to empty while traveling down a steeper hill. low fuel light came on as well, even though the gauge had been reading approx. 1/4 tank remaining. stopped and filled the tank but gauge did not move from empty and fuel light stayed on even with a full tank of gas. no longer able to gauge fuel levels and have to track it using trip mileage. *tr

My speedometer all of a sudden jumped to over 70mph when i was only going about 30mph. since june of this year it has happened numberous times. now it just sits at the bottom of the speedometer when it is turned off. *tr

The speedometer at any given moment will go haywire. will read over or under what speed you are actually driving. this is caused by a faulty instrument cluster. safety concern is that you do not notice right away that the speedometer is out of whack so you don't know how fast you are actually going, leaving you vulnerable to driving too fast for road conditions and potentially causing a very serious accident. this is a known problem in the 2005 chevy trailblazer and gm will do nothing to repair this. *kb

Blower fan stays on constantly even when is cut off. only way to cut off fan is to pull out module in fuse box under hood.:( *tr

I was driving on the freeway when i noticed my speedometer suddenly went to 100 miles an hour. i knew this could not be the case as my gps showed i was traveling at 55mph. it then went to 120miles an hour and flip. flopped back and forth. i went to the chevrolet dealership and they informed me it was the electrical cluster and even though there were many complaints, chevrolet would not pay for it. the cost to me would be over $500 i live on a small social security check, so could not afford to repair it. next at 85,000 miles the fuel gauge went haywire and would not register any fuel although i would fill it completely. also, the lights blink off and on when i am driving at night, so, i am afraid i will be stranded somewhere in the dark with my car quitting all together. this was my last car purchase before i retired and i am just sick that the chevrolet company will not fix these defects...they fix the same cluster in their chevrolet trucks....why not in the cars? by the way, i just got a letter last week saying they would "split the cost " to fix the fuel gauge...(my cost is $200 1/3 of my social security check!! *tr

My gas gauge light came on today right after i filled my tank and fuel shows empty. light went off and fuel gauge moved to half mark, then light came back on and went back to show empty. i researched and found out that over 895,000 owners have had this problem and over 600 have reported it to the nhtsa. i have not had an accident, but have read reviews of many that have due to this problem. many have asked to recall this problem and i agree due to the amount of vehicles this has happened to, including mine. some fixed it and the same problem recurred the next year. my extended warranty ended in june so i'm not covered and the cost is very high. please make this a recall so we all can fix this problem and not go broke. the dealer should face up and take the responsibility to fix the fuel gauge problem by recalling this before someone gets in a serious accident. *tr

We are experiencing a defective gas gauge--it registers empty or it may move up a bit or go down some. we are unable to determine how much fuel we actually have. i go on a trip of 350 miles one way every month to visit my mother and it is a constant worry. i am so afraid i will run out of gas on the turnpike--we just never know. we did get a letter from gm saying they were aware of the problem-interestingly enough, though they will not pay to have this dangerous situation affecting hundreds of thousands of vehicles fixed--only half, which we feel is unfair. this is a problem affecting a great number of people, simply by the fact they sent the letter--they need to make it right by paying for the whole remedy before someone is killed as a result of this faulty gas gauge. we would like to be a part of a class action suit against gm for the full payment. *kb

I have been hearing a clicking noise and my car had begun sounding like a jet engine taking off for the last 3 days - very noisy. i took it to pep boys where i was told that it is normal for the trailblazer to begin making this noise shortly after 60k miles. i was told the serpentine belt needed to be replaced, tensioner pulley and the idler pulley. i had the new parts installed. none of my warning lights came on the dashboard so i assumed was well as there was no other indication that something was wrong. driving my car within 24 hours of being fixed, the fan clutch seized and my water pump burst causing car to overheat in the middle of an intersection where my car then stalled putting me and my children at risk for injury. the car almost caught on fire it was smoking severely. someone helped me move my car out of the busy intersection and i called my husband and a tow truck to come get the car. when i got home and looked up the problems again on the dealer website, i found hundreds of forums where the fan clutch has been mentioned and the water pump too. a fan clutch according to the mechanics i surveyed stated they should last at least 100k or more. this has been brought to gm and they ignore it. it is a safety issue. additionally, my speedometer hasn't worked for at least a year and when i called chevy they wanted to charge me $700 to replace it when it is not my issues. i didn't cause it. not knowing what speed you are going is definitely a safety hazard and can cause accidents or tickets.i am attaching a forum (this is just one of hundreds i found online)http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/trailblazer/2004/consumer-discussions.html where people are having the same safety issues i am and gm has ignored them. my car could have caught on fire today and i had my 4 yr old daughter with me. not a position i ever want to be in. please issue a recall. *tr

I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer. the gas gauge quick working almost a year and half ago. originally, i would fill up the tank and it would read only 1/2 tank. over time, it read all different readings from full when empty to 1/3 tank when full. for the past six months or so, it has remained on empty with the gas light on and dings occasionally flashing low fuel - even though i just filled up. i have learned to go by mileage to prevent running out of gas but this is very much an inconvenience for something that is a manufacturer defect. i fear running out of gas or having an accident related to running out of gas so i keep my tank as full as possible and fill up frequently. i have not had repaired due financial restraints but have recently been reading about the numerous complaints of the same issue. i would like to report this official complaint to add to your investigation. *tr

Two days after filling tank, i started having problems with the gas gauge. i had driven about 250 miles, but the gauge still read 3/4 full. my wife then took the truck to work that afternoon, thinking there was 3/4 tank of fuel left she did not fill up for the 80 mile round trip. half way home at 3:00 am she runs out of gas in the worst section of phoenix you can imagine. as she works in an inner city hospital, she drives through this section of the city daily and we have always made sure she has a reliable vehicle for the trip. fortunately a police officer stopped and stayed with her until aaa showed up. i would hate to think what would happen to a woman alone in a drug infested area of the city while her vehicle breaks down for a faulty fuel gauge. *tr

There is a potential safety issue related to the spare tire winch of gm vehicles that have an underside mounted spare tire. i used my winch for the first time and found it difficult to lower the tire from the underside of the vehicle. yes, i had to break out the owner's manual in order to figure out the secondary release! when the service station went to put it back up, they told me the winch was defective and needed to be replaced. i took it to the dealership and they agreed. i'm claiming that this is a common issue and a design flaw. gm is saying it is "normal" wear & tear. i'm having a hard time swallowing this since it has only been used once. now they are claiming "environmental" factors and rust, caused by salt in my state. they are pointing to some loophole in the manual to deny responsibility. understand that i'm outside of the 3/36 warranty, but still believe the company should stand behind their product and take ownership for this flaw. if this area is prone to rust and has a history of failing (as indicated on my automotive forums), what is to keep the spare tire from flying off during operation of the vehicle. if this spare will not snug up to the underside of the body, it seems that hitting a bump could cause the tire to break free or one of the "rusted" components could cause it to drop expectantly. i have tried numerous times to get this resolved through my local dealer and gm's customer care division, but they refuse to take responsibility for a poor design. *tr

My speedometer began to work improperly. sometimes it would not go all the way back to zero when the ignition was switched off, or it would be functioning properly and then for no apparent reason the needle would go all the way around and end up pointing at the park, neutral, reverse area at the bottom of the speedometer. now the speedometer does not work at all and the tachometer has started to work intermittently. it is doing the same thing that the speedometer was doing. right now the vehicle is off but the tachometer needle is on 3. i just had the fuel sensor gauge replaced under chevrolet's "special policy" because it had ceased working as well. i have serious reservations about the integrity of the other gauges because while they appear to be working i do not know. i contacted cheverolet and was told that while other makes and models had been recalled mine had not. when i inquired as to whether the components for my instrument cluster came from the same supplier as that of the recalled vehicles i was told that they would not disclose that information to me because it was confidential. they did say they had other complaints similar to mine but at this time they were not offering any assistance to consumers and did not know if or when they ever would. i was told that due to the age of my vehicle (a 2005) that i could expect certain repairs. i do expect certain repairs however a total failure of the instrument cluster, that has been documented on my make and model as well as other chevrolets, is not one of them. it is frustrating and disheartening to me that while chevrolet is aware of the problem they knowingly disregard the concerns of their customers, especially as the malfunction of a fuel gauge, speedometer or any other instrument panel component could have serious consequences. *kb

Just one day we got in the car to head to the grocery store and as we were heading there i looked down and the speedometer was at 20 when i was clearly doing 55. i pulled up to a stop light and shut the car off then restarted hoping it would fix itself and nothing. i has never worked right since then. i went to the local chevy dealer and asked to see if there were any recalls on this issue and they told me that there are recalls on every chevy suv and truck except trailblazer and told me to input a complaint to see if they would recall this issue. i asked them how to do that and they said to contact chevy. they were not helpful. the bull**** thing is that every chevy truck and suv from 2003 to 2007 use the same instrument panel so you can't tell me that this paticular vehicle is not like the tahoe, suberban, or silverado that has the same issue as i am having. i am pissed that i have to pay for a faulty part that chevy knows is an issue. *tt

There have been several occasions where my headlights (only) will not come on at night or they will shut off while i am driving. again it is only my headlights. it happens randomly. one day it will do that and the next day it won't so of coarse when i take it to the shop to have it looked at everything is fine. however i know i am not alone because of the web searches i have done on the issue i can see that several people are complaining about the same issue. *tt

I bought my 2005 trailblazer new in 2006. the rear driver side door quit working and i had to use a bungee cord to keep it shut until i got it in to a mechanic to look at. i was told that somehow water got inside the door and damaged the components mechanic was able to get the door to shut but warned me if it was opened again it may not shut so it has been duct-taped up so my children won't inadvertently use it. i noticed rust on the top of the vehicle in front of the moon roof very early on. the rear passenger door has to be opened gently from the back portion of the handle as it appears it is going to break off in the near future. the rear hatch and also the glass portion of the hatch back has now stopped working. it was brought in for an oil change and i asked the mechanic to check it out he was able to get it unlocked a couple times by pressing the auto unlock on the key repeatedly (more than 3 times he said) i have not been as fortunate and have not been able to use the rear quarters now because of this. *tr

The speedometer does not reset itself when the vehicle slows or stops. instead, it resumes from a higher speed. for example, if you are traveling at 45mph and stop at a stoplight the speedometer may drop to 40mph upon stopping. then when you resume traveling it starts from 40 instead of 0 so the speedometer shows you are traveling 60 when you are going 20, 70 when you are going 30 etc. when you stop again it will come to rest at an even higher speed, until eventually the needle shows over 120 mph when the vehicle is sitting still! i have done some investigation on line and this appears to be a fairly common complaint from fellow owners. general motors apparently dopes not consider this a safety issue and as such will not pay for the repair which is $500 or more. i'm not sure how not knowing you rate of travel is not a safety concern for them, but it certainly is to me. *tr

First was the right tail light caught fire and blew fuses, then i get power surges that cause the vehicle to accelerate randomly at the worst times and/or will also stall out, which can be potentially very dangerous or end in a fatal accident, it drops in rpms and lights dim then it accelerates... and the last thing is that the fuel gauge fluctuates dramatically and you can never tell how much fuel you really have... drive 10 miles at quarter of a tank and it either stays close to the same spot or drops and the light comes on for low fuel. *tr

Fuel sensor is damaged. regardless if tank is full or 1/2 full. the fuel gauge always reads empty, with the light on. after a long period of driving, fuel gauge may go up to 1/4 tank but will go back to empty after car is turned off and restarted. only way to be safe and aware of fuel level, is to fill up the vehicle with gas and restart the mileage.

This complaint is concerning a defective fuel level sensor. on or near the incident date, the vehicle's fuel tank was filled to the top. this was the first time the tank was completely filled in several months (due to high gas prices). upon driving away from the pump, the dash fuel gauge read 'empty'. prior to topping off the tank, the gauge was reading approximately 1/3 full. the gauge continued to read 'empty' until the level was down to approximately 7/8 full. after that, the gauge varied between less than 1/8 full to actual level and sometimes would read 'empty' briefly. after the fuel was down to less than 3/4 full, the gauge appeared to read normal until filled again. this pattern basically has continued to get worse. now, when the tank is topped off, it still reads 'empty' but doesn't read 'normal' until down to about 1/4 tank. i have resorted to logging mileage and date when topping off the tank and refilling before the tank should be empty based on mileage.

When my mileage on my 2005 chevy trailblazer was approximately 50,000, the fuel gauge suddenly stopped working and reads that there is an empty tank despite being filled to capacity. from my understanding, this is a systemic fault with the fuel sending unit in the 2005-06 chevy trailblazer models that has the potential of putting consumers at great risk due to the potential of running out of gas on expressways, highways, etc. and, as a result of an unexpected loss of mobility, being unnecessarily subject to imminent personal harm from other vehicles. i have lodged a personal complaint with gm and understand that they are aware of this defect in the fuel sending unit as being a system problem, but have failed to issue any voluntary recall of the part. due to the individual cost of approximately $800 for a consumer to procure this repair (which almost always seems to occur when these vehicles have surpassed 40,000 miles and are therefore outside of the warranty period), i believe it is very likely that a sufficient number of those consumers affected by this part failure, especially in the current economic climate, will be financially unable to afford the cost of repairing this defective part on their own and will, accordingly, be subject to unnecessary and substantial risk given the potential for them to find their vehicles out of gas without any warning whatsoever. moreover, the potential for collisions due to the sudden deceleration or stranded vehicles on the roadways also poses a substantial threat to other drivers that is entirely unnecessary and extremely dangerous. *kb

2005 chevy trailblazer. bought the vehicle used in 2008 with only 33,868 miles on it. have 78,158 on vehicle now and last month had to have the radiator replaced and transmission rebuilt. the place that did the repairs told me he gets about 3-5 trailblazers a year with the same problem. he had 2 folks call about the same issue while mine was on the rack. seems the radiator develops a small leak in the system that cools the trans and causes the transmission to fail. had no real issues until last month when vehicle would not come out of 3rd gear. could put auto transmission in to 1 or 2 and then be able to take off from dead stop and shift into drive to get the vehicle home and then to shop. have looked online to see if there was a recall on this issue and there has not, but appears there have been other complaints about this issue. total cost for vehicle repair was $2,814.17. *tr

While driving down highway, fuel gauge began moving radically from empty to full and never stabilized. each time the gauge approached the "empty" the warning light and alarm would sound. constant movement of fuel gauge and alarm is distracting to driver. inaccurate fuel measurement causes concern for diver which is an unnecessary distraction from driving that could lead to accident.

Driving on the interstate i noticed a pop and upon further review of the vehicle, i found that the third tail light assembly has broken free from the clips that hold it on to the vehicle. it is still attached by 1 bolt but this is very dangerous if the assembly breaks free. i have seen several complaints on this particular vehicle that could cause severe damage to oncoming traffic and potentially cause an accident. this needs to be addressed by the manufacturer immediately.

About a year ago my speedometer would randomly show a loss or gain of speed. about 8 months ago it quit working all together. it does not register in the numbers. during the same time i ran out of gas twice when my gage had registered fuel and the low fuel light was not registered. it has since quit working all together. i recently called to ask how much an instrument cluster would be to replace and was given a total of about $600.00 this is a very disheartening situation. i have read all other complaints on line and they say the same thing. i believe that this is a very serious issue and am extremely disappointed that it hasn't been resolved by the company. *tr

Purchased a 2005 trailblazer after trading in a 2001 blazer. i have never had any problems with chevrolet until this upgrade. not long after the purchase i started running out of fuel and the car would stall in the middle of the road. in my opinion the stalling gets serious when you live in a large city and traffic moves fast. it is also very difficult to make it off the road when you do not know you have a problem like this as well. it wasn't until i began tracking my mileage and having it inspected that i found it was the fuel sensor. roughly it will cost about 700 dollars to fix. i am still, at this point, tracking my mileage which is a headache in itself. i have spoke with the dealership more than once and they made it clear that this is a very common issue with this vehicle and that is also my problem. i will be rethinking my next vehicle and my husbands as well since he owns a 2003 impala.

While driving on the expressway the gas gauge indicator beeped indicating that i was low on fuel. i was not sure when i filled up last so i stopped and filled up with gas. after filling up with gas, i restarted the vehicle, the gas gauge still read empty. two months prior to this i had to replace the instrument cluster on the dash (speedometer, etc), so with this being the case, i determined that the gas sending unit was faulty or broken. from what i read, the cost to fix this varies from $650 to $850. i've put off this repair since i find that many people have the same problem and have heard news reports about a possible recall for this. basically now, the gauge is never correct and fluctuates between empty & 1/4 of a tank. it will drop or rise multiple times in a 20 mile trip.

1.) nothing i can think of that i did caused the problem to start. 2.) the speedometer in my 2005 trailblazer simply does not tell the correct speed. nearly ever time i drive the tack will either stay at 0 or will go up to and beyond 120 mph. i have resorted to using my gps to tell my speed, but it is a large inconvenience to me and may others that i have found online. 3.) i have just begun to research the problem so i have not done anything to fix the issue. *tr

The gasoline gauge would not read accurately. if we filled up our gas tank, the gauge would read empty. we never really knew how much gasoline we had in the tank. we had the fuel level sensor replaced on 9/02/09. this was a very costly repair. we feel that gm should do a recall on this part and we should be reimbursed for our expenses.

The fuel gauge of my 2005 chevy trailblazer has a mind of it's own. it stopped working correctly at somewhere near 85,000 miles. it no longer ever shows a full tank, even after a fill up, stopping just short of 1/2 full. the gauge then will go up and down from this point at will, moving usually down to "e" as i sit idle at a traffic light. i can fill up, and less the 150 miles later, it will show empty, even though i've used less then 1/2 a tank of gas. i have run out of gas on a busy highway because of this condition, even as this gauge showed 1/4 tank. i was not hit, but was very close to getting rear ended. i am now hearing this is a common problem with certain gm vehicles.

05 chevrolet trailblazer fuel gauge shifts back and forth between empty and half a tank. it started doing this at about 60000 miles. we never know how much gas we have in the tank, and have to set the trip meter every time we fill up. i know several people with the same problem in their trailblazers. we need a recall!! *tr

2005 trailblazer gas gauge fluctuates wildly. we have been trying to monitor the tank by tracking mileage. my wife used the car and inadvertently subtracted the miles incorrectly and ran out of gas in the fast lane of the 405 freeway !! a very dangerous situation. no one was hurt, just a lot of stress and a rescue mission. the gauge now stays on, or just above empty. chevy dealer wants 800.00 for repair and says it's not their problem. my on-line research shows thousands of this car have the identical symptom. most definitely their problem !! in addition, the speedometer has a mind of it's own. i was pulled over on the i 15 for doing 88 when my speedometer read 70.
