THE BUCKLE BASE OF THESE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES WERE NOT PROPERLY HEAT TREATED AND THEREFORE DO NOT PASS THE LOAD BEARING REQUIREMENT OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 209, “SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES.” Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLE’S SAFETY BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY DATE CODES AND, IF NECESSARY, WILL REPLACE ANY SAFETY BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY.
2001-02-01	AIR BAGS:FRONTAL	VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER, SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES AND MINIVANS. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR MODULES WERE BUILT WITHOUT THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF GENERANT, WHICH PRODUCES THE GAS THAT FILLS THE AIR BAG. SOME WERE BUILT WITH A DOUBLE LOAD OF GENERANT AND SOME WERE BUILT WITHOUT GENERANT. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE. TELEPHONE CALLS WERE MADE TO OWNERS ON JANUARY 29, 2001. FOLLOW UP OWNER MAILING BEGAN ON APRIL 17, 2001. 2015-10-26	ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE \| ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE	General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1997-2004 Buick Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. The affected vehicles were previously repaired under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 to address the possibility that engine oil may drip onto the hot exhaust manifold. Remedy: The remedy applied under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 did not adequately remove the safety risk. Under the improved remedy, dealers will replace the engines front valve cover and gasket. Vehicles that are covered by recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, or 15V-201 that have not yet received the original remedy will instead receive the improved remedy under the original recall number. The recall began on February 19, 2016. GM’s number for this recall is 15757. Note: Until the improved remedy has been applied, owners are advised to park their vehicle outside since the fire risk exists even when the vehicle is unattended.
2009-04-08	ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING	GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING 1,497,516 MY 1997-2003 BUICK REGAL, MY 1998-2003 CHEVROLET LUMINA, MONTE CARLO AND IMPALA, MY 1998-1999 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE, MY 1997-2003 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.8L V6 NATURALLY ASPIRATED ENGINE. A POTENTIAL MATERIAL OR DESIGN DEFECT COULD RESULT IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE BREAKING IN THE HUB AREA. 2008-03-12	ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING	GM IS RECALLING 207,542 MY 1997-2003 BUICK REGAL AND PONTIAC GRAND PRIX VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.8L SUPERCHARGED V-6 ENGINE. THESE VEHICLES HAVE HIGHER FRONT ROCKER COVER GASKET TEMPERATURES, CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR EARLIER DEGRADATION OF THE FRONT ROCKER COVER GASKET AND EVENTUAL OIL SEEPAGE. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ENGINES FRONT VALVE COVER AND FRONT-VALVE-COVER GASKET WITH NEW PARTS OF AN IMPROVED DESIGN AND REMOVE THE ENGINES PLASTIC COVER AND PLASTIC OIL-FILL-TUBE EXTENSION, ALONG WITH THE 1-3-5 SPARK PLUG WIRE RETAINERS, FREE OF CHARGE. I was smelling gas fumes and took the car to a local repair shop and was told I needed to fix it immediately and was advised not to drive it all. The fuel pressure regulator had to be replaced at the cost of $200. I was told that they checked the intake manifold and it was leaking coolant and needed to be repaired soon as well. I contacted Pontiac and filed a claim for some assistance since I was told this would cost approximately $700. The mechanic told me that this was a common problem with these cars but usually he did not see this problem at such an early mileage. He told me it happened more when these vehicles had about 60000 to 80000 miles. I bought the car as a certified vehicle with a warranty to 39000 miles. Since I barely had passed the warrant miles I called the dealership I purchased the car from. I was told that they could not do the warranty work for me since they were a Chrevrolet Dealership and for me to contact Pontiac. I called and asked for assistance on a Goodwill Warranty or Secret Warranty. They told me to take it to a Pontiac Dealership and get it checked. I did at the cost of $37.00 and called them back to confirm what the first mechanic diagnosed. The service manager quoted me up to $900. I asked if they could help me with any assistance. I called several times to Pontiac and was told I needed to talk to the customer service advisor I had filed the complaint with. I was unable to talk to her directly and left a voice mail and was told she would get back with me within 24 hours. I have stayed home all day for 2 days waiting and still have not heard from her. I talked to the Service Manager at Buz Post in Arlington Tx and he said he could give me a 10% discount on the parts and would discount it to $600. The additional cost of the $900 was other maintenance items. This is still a heavy burden for me to have to pay. The service manager told me that this was not uncommon to happen at this amount of miles. I feel if this is a problem then they should be recalling these cars and take care of the problem. I am very frustrated with Pontiac and feel they could take better care of their customers. I would consider being a loyal customer if I felt they were a dedicated company but since I am a first time buyer and bought a used vehicle they are refusing to take care of this for me. I will have to get this repaired since I am sitting on a ticking time bomb and could cause even further damage. (3.1L V6)
