The Center for Auto Safety is the nation’s premier independent, member driven, non-profit consumer advocacy organization dedicated to improving vehicle safety, quality, and fuel economy on behalf of all drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.

Since the Center for Auto Safety’s founding in 1970 as a voice for consumers to take on the giant auto companies, first in Washington and then across the country, the Center has grown through the support and generosity of individuals like yourself  Among our many accomplishments are:

And the list goes on. Every year, we add more success stories for consumers like GM’s deadly Ignition Switch and exploding Takata airbag recalls this year and getting Toyota to recall over 10 million vehicles for a realm of safety problems including sudden acceleration last year. The Center’s dynamic roof crush tests revealed weak roofs and led to a major new safety standard that is already helping cut the toll of 10,000 deaths in rollover crashes each year.

We do all of this good work on a shoestring budget, far less than an auto company pays for a single Super Bowl  commercial.  We have always relied on contributions from individuals who want to see the Center raise its voice for consumers in Washington and ruffle a few feathers in Detroit and Tokyo or wherever the giant auto makers are headquartered when they try to run roughshod over consumers or skimp on safety, efficiency or reliability.  Your support is crucial to our success so please contribute today.
