Two teens killed after SUV drops off 40 foot cliff

With the news that two seniors had died, Joshua Davis and Kevin Goich Jr’s friends came in groups to lay flowers. Some sat alone to think about the two buddies who are remembered as nice guys and friends to everyone.

"Everyone knew Josh and Kevin. Everyone knew them, every part of the community was affected," said Kevin Thom, a Fayetteville-Manlius student.

Students say their good nature is what’s making this even more difficult. Good students with lots of friends, good people, top to bottom.

"They were involved in volunteer activities in school and out of school. They were good students, they were involved in a variety of clubs and activities in school. They’re good kids," said James Chupaila, the school’s principal.

Their friends also came to the crash site to lay flowers. Goich and Davis had been driving an SUV on private property, just over this hill. Their off-roading trip ended when they plunged forty feet off a cliff and into a quarry. It all seems so sudden.

"I still haven’t gotten my mind around it actually, but when I tried to go through the day by making other people comfortable, a lot of people are mourning at our school," said Mike Mahon.

"Everyone in our school, we just realized that two people are actually dead, and when you actually think about that, two people being dead and never being able to come back, it suddenly becomes much bigger than it would seem," Thom said.

The principal says the memory of the two teens will loom large at the graduation ceremony.
