The Center for Auto Safety is the nation’s premier independent, member driven, non-profit consumer advocacy organization dedicated to improving vehicle safety, quality, and fuel economy on behalf of all drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.

For the third time this year, Ford is recalling vehicles with its 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engines, citing a fire hazard.

The action covers about 65,000 2013 Escapes and almost 15,000 2013 Ford Fusions in the United States, according to a document the automaker filed on Friday with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

About 8,000 more Escapes and 800 more Fusions are being recalled in Canada.

The 2013 Fusions and Escapes with the two-liter or 2.5-liter engines are not affected.
