CAS has received many complaints from consumers concerning peeling paint, ignition switch fires, stalling and brake, transmission and head gasket failures. Ford should drop "star" from Aerostar and Windstar because neither is a star when it comes to quality.

Thank you for contacting the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) about your Tempo or Topaz. Introduced as one of Ford's first front wheel drive vehicles in 1984, Ford replaced it in 1995 with the Contour. CAS has received numerous complaints from consumers on fires, chronic stalling, unintended acceleration, paint peel, and tie rod failure.

Thank you for contacting the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) about your Econoline, Club Wagon or E-series van. CAS has received many complaints from consumers concerning fires, peeling paint, brake failure, transmission and front end shimmy/vibration.

Fires have historically plagued these vehicles. Since 1980, Ford has conducted 12 safety recalls for defects that could cause fires.
